You wanted me to spill tea, and tea I will spill:
The Word of Wisdom is fundamentally misunderstood by everyone (myself included). Let's look at the Word of Wisdom, shall we?
Let's begin with the Prohibitions, as these are the only things enforced by the Church. They comprise of Alcohol, Tobacco, Illicit Drugs, Coffee, and Tea. From the start, we can't deny Tobacco, Coffee, or Tea. The WoW only said "Hot Drinks," but Hyrum (who was authorized to receive revelation for the Church at the time) said it meant Coffee & Tea.
On the subject of Tea, Herbs of the Field. The Lord has told us to use all the herbs of the field with prudence. This is not me saying to distrust medical professionals, but they can help sometimes. I can't count how many times I've had a horrible stomach ache helped by Peppermint Tea. But it'd be dumb to reject the advancements in medicine we've made in the past 10,000 years. This is also why I support medicinal marijuana (and other things like psychedelic therapy). As long as it is used in wisdom & moderation, it can do good for a number of physical and mental issues (such as my grandmother using it for her seizures, or that veteran who used it for his PTSD)
Finally, Alcohol. The Word of Wisdom only prohibits "strong drinks" (which was defined as distilled alcohol, like Vodka). It encourages Mild Drinks (such as beer), and says we can have wine, if Mormons make it. Joseph drank wine (for pleasure, not just for ritual), Brigham owned a Brewery, and on and on. Obviously, wisdom & prudence. If someone has alcohol issues, they shouldn't drink. This fits into my concept of Zion. Drinking for Pleasure is fine, but Drunkenness is unacceptable. We need to enjoy pleasure without getting consumed by them. But since so few of us can manage that, I see why the Church went the way it did
Next, what have we been encouraged to eat. Grain (which is the Staff of Life), Fruits, and Vegetables. There are people who can't eat them (people with Gluten Intolerances & the like), but I can't argue with this. Fruits and Veggies are good
Although, wisdom is required here too. Not all food is made equal. I'm not going to go completely crazy about GMOs (we've been modifying our food for over 5 millennia), but we need to be more careful about the affects. And the flour we use nowadays is stripped of basically all it's nutritional benefits
Final is the mixed category, namely meats & animal products
The WoW never actually mentions animal products, so this is all me. Animal Products are good, and should be used. Eggs (especially considering the "eat meat sparingly" part) are an amazing source of protein. Milk is good for calcium, if you're not lactose intolerant (like I am). The Lord approves of Honey so much he constantly mentions it in association with the Promised Land(s), and specifically told the Jaredites to take bees with them. But, like all foods we've covered so far, careful. My FiL used to be Egg Intolerant, until he started raising his own Chickens, and he's had no problems with those eggs (and they taste way better, and fill me up way more than Store-Bought ones)
The Lord taught us to "eat meat sparingly," and I've seen a bunch of interpretations, from Vegans to Carnivores. All hold some merits, but no one gets it all right. I don't even think I get this one. Ryan Hinkley (a Blogger & Podcaster) said part of his interpretation is that we should do the least harm. He advocates restricting meat use to meats like Venison and Beef, because they are large enough to feed a lot of people over a long period of time (and have you ever had Venison Tacos. Try it sometime, if you eat meat). It mentions Cold & Famine, and this could be because of the extra protein, which allows you to build mass, to keep warm in winter, and last longer in famine times. In addition, if you work in agriculture (especially in the time of JS), that's the most available food you have in the dead of winter. I want to add to this the prophecy about the Sons of Levi offering a sacrifice. Sacrifice for the remission of sins is done away with, but I believe animal sacrifice will return. In Biblical Animal Sacrifice, the Meat (for the most part) wasn't burned to dust, but roasted and eaten. If I am correct, and it does return, then the reason we are to eat meat sparingly is so that when we do eat it, it's as a celebration of the mercies of God. That's just my crackpot theory though, with ideas I've had floating around for years
(And this is all just a theory. I want to try restricting my meat intake & whatnot, but I don't feel ready for that. And even if the Church said we could drink, I probably wouldn't, because I have a family history of alcohol & drug abuse)

Inspired by @ben-learns-smth and his seemingly endless gratitude and zest for life: Good Things That Happened Lately (ie I need to notice good things that happen in life and a deeply sucky few days leading up to the start of exams seems like a good place to start) (edit: I had so many things I put them under a read more, a very good sign :D)
Playing stardew valley with a friend before they went back to uni
I saw my first ice hockey game with friends and we got hot chocolate and donuts afterwards
Becoming more aware of the need to take care of my body
Difficult but important and productive discussions with friends
Saw some gorgeous sunsets while out on walks
Trip planning!! The first 6 months of this year will be so packed but it's an investment in memories :)
Submitting an essay after loads of hard work that I'm pretty proud of!!
Eating mini eggs for the first time this year <333
Discord calls
I decorated my 2024 planner with loads of fun stickers and I love it :D
5 hour video call with my beloved squad
Reunion hugs with a uni friend and a spontaneous cinema trip to see The Boy and the Heron with said friend
^on that outing I also ate my first Gregg's sausage roll, they only had the vegan ones left but it was the nicest sausage roll I've ever had
Finding postcards in the post from friends that have been there since Christmas
Uni friend hangout: Glee, deep chats and wheezing over multilingual hangman at 4am edition
I realised that my uni show choir isn't actually audition only so I'm going to join it in the new semester :D
The hard but necessary habit of watching YouTube in French again, my comprehension on one video wasn't as bad as I thought and I found a few channels I like
Finally feeling inspired to cook fun meals again (I have yet to act on this cus I need groceries but Soon!!)
Seeing some more uni friends at an event
Said event had a guy talking about frogs and I had the time of my life
Ripe kiwis and buying the nice apples (Pink Lady supremacy)
Fizz' album The Secret To Life, wild to think I'm seeing them live in a couple weeks!!
Chocolate biscuits <333
I went on a lovely winter walk in the local park today, the lake was completely frozen and there were so many geese!!
And finally: I made an excellent salad for dinner, who knew that actually seasoning your food properly makes it taste good /j
I'm glad I did that, I'm feeling much more upbeat and positive about things!! If I can remember to do this regularly it'll be good for me :)

top five foods you'd feed glen powell. (this is unhinged, i'm sorry, i've had an entire bottle of wine.)
[ask me my top five anythings!]
His fridge tour in that Men's Health video was a product placement travesty - where's the food??? you live off Cali Water??? - as were most of those vague non-answers where he never actually mentioned what he ate. (My favorite part of those MH himbo videos is the what's in your fridge/what do you eat segments!)
Cheese! This "I don't eat cheese, it is moldy queso" business does not fly with me unless you physically cannot eat cheese for fear of death or veganism. The only instance of "I could fix him" I would ever employ in another human being would be to inspire an appreciation of cheese. Eat a pizza, buddy! Have some lasagna! Gnaw on some aged cheddar. Bake up some Brie. Let Halloumi into your heart. (I also don't understand how a person can be that into college football and not eat nachos. 90% of why I watch the Super Bowl is so that I have an excuse to make nachos! Also is his dislike of cheese limited to savory applications? Is he going through life not eating cheesecake? That's sad.)
Carbs for breakfast! I was tempted to try that sweet potato base breakfast situation he had going on but it did not look appetizing. (Maybe he's a bad cook?) Put it on a croissant! Have a classic bagel & lox sandwich with some nice tomato, capers, red onions. I need more hot men to shill for Russ & Daughters like Jake Gyllenhaal.
The product placement Doritos so we can hang out with Danny Ramirez.
A proper slice of pie, not that garbage Netflix handed him for Hit Man promo that didn't even have an egg wash on it.
I do not know what foods are on a craft services table, but what I'm setting down is chocolate bread pudding (I make the best) or Claire Saffitz's giant ass chocolate chip cookie from Dessert Person. (Each scoop is a quarter cup! It is the size of your hand but so delicious.)

five oc facts
@sparkiekong tagged me a VERY veryyyyy long time ago and i'm just now getting to this tag months later (i'm so sorry 😭)
i'll tag: @thebramblewood @mangosimoothie @queeniecook @stargazer-sims @dandylion240 @jonquilyst 🤍
i just did a similar prompt for áine, who is this sim's niece, so how about facts for cathal? he's also a newbie to my sims universe, and i adore him and his personality tbh, but canon reasons make it hard for him to be included too much outside of random simblr posts like this
Tumblr media
he is WILDLY younger than all his other siblings (like by 20 years) and was a total surprise baby. really, he's kind of a medical miracle because he was born after his mother went into menopause and was in her 40s, and no one knew he even existed until he randomly sprang into the world one august morning lmfao 💀
i think i mentioned it in one post but he's been a vegetarian for most of his life! actually, he declared himself a vegan when he was, like, six years old; he figured out what eggs and meat really were and then refused to eat animal products for decades. much to his dismay, he did have to introduce eggs and milk and whatnot back into his diet when he ran into a few nutritional deficiencies from veganism, but he's made his peace with being a vegetarian instead 🥦
he 100% does not remember his father outside of what he looked like. his dad (and aoife's younger brother) died very abruptly and super young of a heart attack when cathal was maybe three or so, and it's something that really nags at him. he's well aware there's nothing he can do about it, but he feels some strange mix of bad emotions that he never experienced a father-son bond, and that makes him 100x as serious about being a good father who'll be around a LONG time and just generally treating anyone younger than him well. he doesn't want anyone else feeling that type of loss 🥲
he actually writes an agricultural column in the local online newspaper and contributes to the county farmer's almanac lol. his big shtick is sustainability in agriculture and how new green technologies should be combined with traditional cultural approaches to the land so the earth doesn't die in, like, 10 years from excessive carbon emissions 🍃💚
he met his wife yvonne in a ballroom dance class! he was just bored one day in college and went to the class to do something new, and he immediately developed the biggest crush on the instructor. he just kept going back every week until he was brave enough to ask her out, and when he did, they hit it off. oh, and this is totally their thing - he has quite literally taken her dancing every weekend since they got together 😭😭😭

hi bug! congratulations again on being un-glitched! I loooooved the headcanons you wrote last night about eddie and his hippie vegan girlfriend. I would LOVE to hear more about their first meeting outside the record shop, if you feel inspired to write more abt these two! you built such a fun lil world for the two of them, i just can't get enough! 💖
Anything for you, bb <3
For the purposes of historical accuracy, this takes place in 1991. Eddie + reader are 24.
WC: 647
--
Eddie had just planned to spend his Saturdays like he normally did: scouring the record store for any new releases. He loved finding underground bands that weren't really popular yet, playing their music while he worked at the auto shop during the week.
He wasn't expecting a small gathering of protesters to greet him outside, the leader of which was a really, really pretty girl.
"What's going on out there?" Eddie asks Hal, the manager, once he makes his way into the store.
"Protesting the Gulf War," Hal says. "They asked if they could use the parking lot, and I wasn't about to say no to that cause." Hal was a total hippie at heart; anti-establishment, constantly stoned, wearing tie-dye, and plastering peace signs around his office. "'Sides, we don't have anything big coming in this weekend."
Eddie nods; he'd overheard updates about the war on the radio, but had no idea that people in Hawkins were protesting it. It was more of a "shoot first, ask questions later" rather than a "make love, not war" kind of town.
"And, uh, the girl out there? In the front?" He tries to sound nonchalant as he asks, drumming his fingers on the countertop.
Hal laughs knowingly. "She's a cutie, isn't she?" he winks. "Don't know too much about her, but she seems like your type--stubborn with a heart of gold."
That's all Eddie needs to hear; he's out the door and standing alongside you before Hal can even process that he's gone.
"Hey," he greets you, taking a hand out of his pocket to shake yours. "I'm Eddie. You got any more of these signs?"
"Y/N," you reply, smiling at the lovestruck metalhead. "There should be some in that box back there," you tell him, motioning behind you.
Eddie chooses one that says "Fuck Your War" in big block letters. "Short, sweet, and to the point, huh?" he whispers to you, and he swells with pride when you laugh.
He spends the next hour chanting various anti-war sentiments. When a middle-aged man gets in your face, screaming about how Bush is the best president this country's ever seen, Eddie steps between you and him and pushes the guy away.
"Who the fuck does he think he is? Bet he wouldn't try that shit if you weren't young and cute."
You wrinkle your nose. "I'm not cute," you challenge, "I am very scary."
Eddie holds up his hands in surrender. "You're right, you're right. I'm terrified right now."
"Too late," you pout, feigning offense. "You have hurt my feelings beyond repair."
"Beyond repair?" Eddie chuckles. "There's nothing I can do to fix it?"
"Nope."
"What about if I take you out for pizza?" he asks hopefully. "In my experience, pizza heals all wounds."
"Actually," you tell him, bracing yourself for an onslaught of insults, "I'm vegan. So unless you find a pizzeria that doesn't serve cheese..."
His brow furrows in confusion. "Wait, you've never had sex?" he blurts out. "What does that have to do with pizza?"
You burst out laughing; you can't help it. "A vegan, Eddie, not a virgin. I am most definitely not one of those." He blushes at your honesty. "I don't eat any animal products. No meat, no dairy, no eggs."
"Oh," he nods slowly. "So what can you eat?"
"Pretty much anything else!" you say cheerfully. "There's actually a really good vegetarian restaurant that opened a few months ago. They have the best veggie burgers I've ever tasted, and their fries are incredible."
"So let's go there," he decides, and without thinking, he takes your hand in his. "Right after we finish up here, yeah?"
"I'd like that," you say, beaming at him. He looks at you and smiles right back.
She's like my little hippie princess, he thinks, though it'll be a few more dates until he actually calls you that.

good morning! I felt pretty lousy all week but I feel so much better now—I think in retrospect I was bracing myself for something going wrong with the ultrasounds and delaying me another month. but I did the IUI yesterday and everything went well. I always feel most at peace right after the IUI because the timing is now out of my hands but I’m also still far enough from testing that I don’t feel too much anxiety about it. I’ve tentatively decided I won’t test at two weeks but will just wait for my period to come or not come. I am going to try not to calendar watch—luckily my days are a lot busier now that liz is here, school is starting, and I’m doing choir and voice lessons, so I hope the time won’t drag as much as it did last winter/spring. I’m also going to try to eat really well and will make it a fun meal planning game.
here are my goals for the next two weeks:
walk for 45-60 minutes every day (I’ve been slipping a little as things have gotten busier but I want to carve out time for it again esp while the weather is still so gorgeous)
no (or minimal) processed sugar
eat leafy dark greens every day—the easiest way to do this is to sauté big handfuls of frozen spinach with garlic and red pepper flakes and eat it as a little snack. so I will do that (but will also try to incorporate greens into my cooking).
try making beetroot juice lol apparently it’s very good for implantation in IVF cycles so might as well try it
really focus on whole food plant-based eating (although I am also eating eggs and full-fat dairy at the moment so not vegan)
don’t snack at work—people are always bringing in candy or pizza or treats which is nice but I can really mindlessly graze if it’s easily accessible. I’ll try chewing gum and/or making tea instead
hmm ok what else what else. choir was fine and then I had a great voice lesson yesterday. my teacher is a little eccentric but what person in a music career isn’t lol. she focuses a lot on helping you understand and manipulate the actual bodily mechanics of singing/sound production and I’m finding it really fascinating, so much so that it might be my next research rabbithole. I feel like she’s also good at identifying places where I’ve formed a very fixed rigid idea about what my voice “is” or is capable of doing, then creating exercises that get me to do the thing I thought I couldn’t without realizing I’m doing it. I think what I like most about the bodily-mechanics approach is that it does away with the idea that good singing is just a thing some people can naturally do and others can’t. it’s much closer to being an athlete! you have to strengthen and condition certain tiny muscles, and then through carefully scaffolded drills you develop a fine-grained ability to manipulate certain muscles and ligaments to produce different effects, and you have to be careful about using good technique when you train and perform (because like in sports, people develop bad habits to compensate for real or perceived weaknesses, which can put them at higher risk for injury). I sang for almost two decades and had 10+ years of formal vocal training as a kid/teen and I don’t know if anyone ever presented it to me in that way… or maybe they did but it didn’t click for me back then because I hadn’t yet done all of this reading and thinking about how people learn/improve/gain expertise in their chosen skills or fields. anyway I was originally thinking I’d just do a handful of voice lessons to help me feel more confident in choir but my interest is PIQUED you know my intellect is ENGAGED I think I might want to add weekly voice lessons to my budget. and I want to read everything out there on the subject lol. there is no greater joy for me than working in a focused way on improving at a skill.
okay and now let’s think about the day… here are some things I want to get done:
order peel and stick wallpaper (I am trying to figure out how to fix
plan meals
grocery shop
put laundry away
do old navy + everlane returns
swing by home depot to pick up soil, two paintbrushes, and paint (bring swatches to color match)
hourlong walk maybe on the paved trail
hammock reading in the park??

Today is the day for people not to forget that vegetarianism exists. Maybe they’re not as “morally pure” as you want them to be, only shunning meat as is, or varying degrees of animal products including or excluding milk, eggs, even fish to some, depending on what your meat avoidance is (red meat, mammals, etc), but vegetarians are still a thing and they’re here. And it’s still a very viable option for people who want to be more aware, but don’t want to throw everything they already have away for containing a small amount of milk or fish product. Like most sauces you might find in your cabinet. Fish sauce is an ingredient in a lot of Asian cuisine sauces, just fyi.
And fuck those people who go “vegan or nothing!” They’re the exact same people who go “NO PAIN NO GAIN” on you on gym, when you can’t perform to perfection. They’re impossible, they expect impossible, they don’t exist in real life and thus they lack empathy, and they lack any awareness of you as a person, living in a situation.
If you want to lessen your consumption of meat or animal products without going scorched earth on them, you can do so. And it’s okay, too. One less piece of any meat consumed is better than none. It doesn’t matter if you can’t keep up with it or lapse once in a while. You as a singular consumer don’t matter quite that much as to bring down a movement with one or two mistakes. That’s actually a lie compounded on by THE industry, trying to shift the blame away from them and it’s not quite as black and white. But if it lessens your guilt then YES, you are not responsible for industries and your lone consumption will not change anything. You just need more people on your side.
...which is where vegeterianism and not being so fucking stubborn hardline comes in. Vegans I’ve seen have done nothing to encourage doing less with meat. They just say YOU NEED TO, NOW. And sharing recipes with fellow vegans, going “oooh, aaah” don’t count.
IN fact, I don’t care who the person who got their vegan lox recipe with carrots and salt shared on a national media is, or if they deserve even more accolades than they got, I’m just saying that anyone who spray painted “go vegan!” on a side of a building did less. They did something alright, some markings on a stuff. Which mostly annoys people in general. And then they think that annoyance or emotional reaction from non-vegans means anything (oooh they feeling guilty oooooh feeling so bad oooooh) and that they did something huge.
IN FACT, anyone just quietly sharing vegan recipes that look and taste good, and maybe even ways to do traditionally meat things as vegan, have done more to their cause than any-single-motherfucker who has ever spray painted shit, or yelled about their cause online, gotten angry at strangers online for their cause, or tried to gatekeep people like vegetarians or less meat people from their cause.
...just saying o.O

Homecooking [Mar ed]
I have failed my reading goal this month... *sigh. But at least I did a decent amount of cooking lol
I actually had a week of vacation this month- ended up staying home all week. But it was good! I practiced watercolouring, I watched badminton, & tried to pay attention to the K-drama called “The Glory”. It’s so popular but I’m not that into it =/  how about you guys??? Let me know what you guys think of it if you’ve seen it.
Let’s get onto the food :P
Tumblr media
Japchae noodles with baby bokchoy & some napa cabbage, with a hard-boiled egg.
Tumblr media
The ox bone soup ramyeon with fish tofu + fish ball + baby bokchoy.
Tumblr media
Beef + napa cabbage with sujebi! Haven’t had sujebi in a while. YUM
Tumblr media
Spaghetti with this vegan sausage that my sister-in-law got me. For the sauce, I just used butter, olive oil, & parmesan cheese. I don’t know what brand the vegan sausage was. .. but this one was Italian seasoning flavoured, & it was alright. The texture was not my thing.. . I prefer regular sausage.
Tumblr media
The same sausage.. . & pasta noodles as above lol but this time, I fried up the sausage in olive oil first. Didn’t add butter nor parmesan cheese. Instead, I salted-it with the smoked salt from Evoolution. This one tasted better than the 1st one with the parmesan cheese.
Tumblr media
Thick rice noodles with lettuce, beef & hard-boiled egg. I used pho broth soup ‘cube’ (the seasoning stuff) for the broth. So good!!!
Tumblr media
Jjamppong with added stuff: including white beech mushrooms, spinach & hard-boiled egg.
Yes, I know. I’ve been eating a lot of hard-boiled egg. You know what’s weird. .. I like eggs but hard-boiled eggs was never my thing. I didn’t eat much of it growing up, & when I was older, I find it more filling than an egg that’s prepared in another way. Like a sunny side up or scrambled vs a hard-boiled egg. The latter makes me more full. Please don’t tell me I’m the only one who thinks this!
Tumblr media
Thick rice noodles with choy sum beef & white beech mushrooms. Like I said, I stayed home all week haha so I was able to make these noodles soups, which I can’t bring to work =(
Tumblr media
Found a pack of expired tzatziki sauce in the fridge... I don’t know where it was from. It was in a plastic bag like it was part of a frozen product or something??? No clue! Anyway, used it for this avocado & cucumber salad. It was bleeehhhhhh ! So I added some lemon pepper to it. Much better!
Tumblr media
Ddeokbokki - accompanied by choy sum & beef.
Tumblr media
Had a few pieces of basa fish so I attempted making fish & chips. Only to realize. .. got no fries left in the house. So just fish haha I used the Korean frying batter, seasoned with onion powder & black pepper. It was good!!! Served with Korean tartar sauce.
Tumblr media
& lastly. .. kimchi fried rice~ with mushrooms + pepperoni lol
That is it for March. Laters!

Actors Who Turned Vegan
If you're one of the non-vegan diets following readers, I would like to ask you to set your philosophical and cultural ideas of what it means to be human aside. I know if I were reading this article about veganism instead of writing it, that's exactly what I'd be thinking about.
It is strange that most of us are still not aware of what veganism actually means. What is it? Where does this term come from? There are going to be two points of view about this post. First, veganism is a type of healthy diet that excludes the consumption of animal products. It includes total abstinence from meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, and dairy products. This term denotes ethical vegetarianism.
As time is changing, a vast section of society is considering the problem due to unplanned and unhealthy food. Hollywood celebrities and big companies are turning to the vegan lifestyle. The list is quite long, we will discuss some of the leading red-carpet celebrities who recently turned vegan.
Joaquin Phoenix ‍ We are sure you have seen his incredible Oscar-winning performance in Joker. Who would have thought that people who don't like animals would start eating plant-based food? Because a celebrity likes Joaquin Phoenix switched to such a healthy type of eating habit?
Woody Harrelson
We are very confident that you must have loved the "Now you see me" series. Then you must be a fan of him; but, did you know that Woody Harrelson has gone vegan? Woody Harrelson is the poster boy for ethical eating and has turned vegan almost ten years back. He's also invested in Vegan's parent company for more than five years now. To top it all off, he's an active supporter of ethically vegetarian meat substitute vegan buffets, plant-based snacks and more products, Tofurky.
Peter Dinklage ‍ Peter Dinklage doesn’t seem like a man who’d be on board with the Red Wedding. Like Tyrion Lannister, he’s a charming, diplomatic, thoughtful guy. Dinklage has been a complete vegetarian since the age of 15.
Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish, the pop singer, is a vegan. She decided to become a vegetarian at 13, and then a few years later, she made the leap to veganism. For her, it was a matter of principle. She kept telling people that no one should murder animals for others to eat them. Hence, supported vegetarianism on her behalf.
Zac Efron
‍Zac Efron is a great example of boldness in action. He says veganism helps him stay fit and be healthy organic food. Zac Efron is an actor in many movies, but I'm not here to talk about his acting career. Zac Efron is vegan. He also decided to become a bodybuilder. He didn’t want to exploit animals for personal means. It shows a lot of courage and reveals his boldness too.
Since there are so many misunderstandings about what vegans can (or should) eat. Vegietribe takes pride in offering you the service with all vegan nutritionally healthy and organic food platters at one place. Basically, veganism is a way of living that excludes the use of animals for food, clothing, entertainment, or any other purpose. To be vegan is to support all animal liberation, animal rights, and anti-specialism movements. A vegan strives to live in harmony with animals. Basically, the vegan lifestyle seeks compassion and decency toward all creatures. There are many reasons to go ethically vegetarian or vegan, but there is one that rarely gets mentioned. It's the only diet practical for someone who wants to live a long time.

Some questions about "Tender is The Flash"
This book literally altered my brain chemistry, I think that is such a shame that this book is so short because the ending left me with many questions about the world where this book is set. And if somebody has theories/answers to these questions please write down a comment, let's make this comment section a nightmare material.
Tumblr media
1- The "transition": when did it happen?
So, we know that Jazmine is 20 years old and she's part of the First Generation Pure, so it means that 20 years before the government has already approved hum-SPECIAL meat production (please government don't kill me for saying they're humans), and I could be okay with it BUT I have a bunch of questions about this. This means that Marco's dad became mad 20 years before and this is never mentioned, so how old is Marcos? I always imagined him to be kinda young, I mean... 35. But he said he worked in the meat industry before, when his father was still working, so... how old is Marcos?
We'll take Jazmine for example now, so she is going to be meat but her parents totally weren't. She is in the first generation so who where her parents? How does this FGP thing work? Were parents paid to give children to the meat industry? Was she taken after and the transition happened later than 20 years before? This is a question I would like to have an answer to.
2- Eggs?
Humans don't lay eggs and this seems a pretty obvious thing, you know I could just stop writing after having to write down this and thinking it was a good point to discuss BUT REALLY, HOW DID THEY REPLACE EGGS? Well, in Italy we have Valsoia that makes vegan eggs that are actually very good, so now Valsoia is a global economic power? Well, this is something that bothers me, how did they replace "real" eggs?
3 - Vegan activism
We know that Marcos' sister said that vegans are a thing in this world, this because she tells him "you're not becoming vegan, right?" in a scene where he refuses to eat meat.
Vegans show videos of what happens in slaughterhouses in order to let people see what happens and how animals are treated/slaughtered. In the book we read that people don't talk about special slaughterhouses and this is considered a taboo, but how does activism here work? I explain myself better: activists treat humans like humans or like domestic animals? The point of many vegans is specism so "You're treating your dog well, why don't you treat pigs like dogs?", how does this work?
And how do animal sanctuaries work? Irl animals are treated like you could treat a dog or a cat, caring for them, brushing their fur, feeding them, playing with them. In the tender is the flash-verse the concept of domestic animal doesn't exist so... do animal sanctuaries exist here too? How do they work?
4 - Cannibal natives
Last point, and maybe creepiest one. We have digital natives, the ones that are born in a technological world and haven't seen the world without social medias and Internet, in TITF there are children born after the transition, so this makes them people used to eating human meat, in our world there is plenty of scientists talking about digital natives, in the TITF-verse there should be someone talking about cannibal natives too. We've seen Marcos' nephews talking about "what would you taste like?" and this isn't a random question, it's a game children play, like a challenge on social media. I think that this topic would probably be discussed.

I'm sure I'm not the only one questioning about many things in this book, and I hope you liked my post, see you next time.🩷🥩

Nikki Reed Has a 5-Minute, Not-So-Hollywood Cleanse for You
The actress, newlywed, and wellness guru is opening up her pantry for a new recurring column.
Tumblr media
Welcome to Take Five, my new recurring beauty and nutrition column on ELLE.com culled from a lifelong passion for animals, the outdoors, and feeling good. For me, the notion of taking five—whether the number pertains to ingredients in a food or just a moment to ask your body how it's feeling—can make all the difference. Consider this your 300-second-long wellness retreat.
Tumblr media
Six years ago, while living in Greece, I was eating everything under the sun, but still felt really clean, pure, and wonderful. When I came back to the States, after a year of being abroad, I realized that I was just not feeling well: I was putting on weight; my skin wasn't good; and I couldn't figure out what the issue was. I started putting together my own theories about our food system (more on that later), and I realized that being gone for so long, and cleaning myself out the way I did, gave my body the opportunity to start over—if I wanted it.
I realized that there was something unhealthy happening with our food system (an awareness that eventually led my husband, Ian Somerhalder, and me to work as ambassadors for Thrive Market, an organic-at-wholesale company). In addition to my own evolving instincts, I tuned in to the habits of the people around me such as my uncle, a yoga instructor and raw vegan, and my brother—my super handsome, super buff brother—who is a perfect example of someone who can live within a mostly plant-based diet and still look the way he wants.
Tumblr media
In addition to recalibrating the foods I was putting into my body, I began tinkering with making my own beauty products. I wish I had some super secret formula that makes my creations really unique, but I mostly use items I pick up from the natural food store. My rule is: If I can eat it, I can put it on my skin. Coconut oil mixed with olive oil is what I put on my body every day; I put rose hip oil on my face. If my hair feels dry, instead of going and buying something filled with chemicals, I put egg whites or avocados or mayonnaise in my hair. I leave it on there for an hour or two and I wash it out.
It may sound complicated, by my routine really is so, so basic. If you look at the Polynesian culture in Hawaii—a lot of my family is from Hawaii—you can see how what they put into their bodies manifests itself in other ways. Polynesian women are known for their long hair, glowing skin, and thick nails. And that comes from the local diet, which is mostly plant based with a little bit of fish and a lot of natural fats and oils. It's about eating things that are living and raw and applying that same logic to what you put on your skin and hair.
For me it's all about not ingesting chemicals. I tried for a long time to only eat things with less than five pronounceable ingredients—hence the name of this column. If you're lost and looking to press the reset button, that's kind of a cool, easy way to start. (FYI: You can find some really great protein bars and nut bars that still only have three or four ingredients, like ground-up cashews, honey, and cinnamon!) This may sound surprising for someone who works in Hollywood, but I do not count calories and I don't even care about weight gain, which I know sounds really bizarre. I listen to my body. I don't just wake up in the morning and cook whatever I eat.
Tumblr media
Routinely I go, 'Hmm, what do I want today? What do I see? Is there oatmeal? Does that mean I need carbohydrates? Is it bananas? Do I need potassium?' If you actually take a second to ask your body what it wants before you feed it, it will answer. Okay, so I know I sound like a crazy person, but how is my philosophy any more extreme than people who say, 'I'll diet for 36 hours' or 'I just won't eat today'? Nothing drives me crazier than girls who are doing these cleanses.
You can cleanse by just eating well. Don't believe me? Next week I will show you how. Until then, breathe in, breathe out, and remember to take five. (Also, feel free to laugh at this pic of me making homemade almond milk.)

I have some calls this morning, and then am getting a massage… can’t.wait. For today’s post, I wanted to share some of my favorite healthy finds from Trader Joe’s! During the time-that-shall-not-be-named, the Pilot did all of our grocery shopping because he was “out in the world” and the girls and I were at home. We also got a lot of grocery delivery from Whole Foods and Thrive Market. It kind of stuck around for years after that, until I realized that I actually love grocery shopping and had missed it. So now, we alternate, since we both like going to the store in person — you find so many more fun things that way! Trader Joe’s has some amazing things, and here are some of my favorite healthier finds. I picked the nuanced answer because I just don't know? I honestly, truly do not think that he would be like a turbo-Catholic or an American Republican politician who thinks that someone must carry to term no matter what. Ew. That's not my Vash. Definitions of "is it a human / person" is... like that idea that it has full personhood at only a few cells isn't something I can see him backing. And then, thinking about some of the things that have happened in canon with forcibly impregnated Plants with Knives using a Plant to re-birth himself in the manga and using Vash's gate to forcibly impregnate Plants in Stampede.... in Stampede, Vash simply coming out of his trance stopped that, essentially de-pregnated the Plants, if I am not mistaken. Bodily autonomy is important to him. I probably should have said "No," but something veered me toward "nuance." I'm mostly replying to this because I figure that this is a writer question for a writer doing fanwork and as a fellow fan-writer, I've been tackling this issue lately with Vash vs. the eating of meat. Meat, at least non-Plant-created meat, takes animal lives. Personally, I'm not a vegan (I'm a butcher's daughter, baby!), but Vash forces me to wonder what his food-morality is sometimes. He canonically eats animal products. He's seen eating an egg in the '98 anime and manga. He eats toma meat, implied to have come actually from an actual toma in Badlands Rumble. He eats roast worm in Stampede. I can't see him ever killing an animal for meat himself, though... In my stories, I have him coming to the conclusion that on his planet, there really is no ethical consumption - people are either overworking the Plants or they need to turn to taking the lives of animals sometimes and he's not going to judge his humans for what they do for survival. So, maybe he has a similar view toward non-ideal pregnancies? If this is a question pertaining to the popular Pregnant Vash trope, I personally think he'd want to keep the kid unless the "kid" is a black hole that will suck in the entire world and destroy everything, in which case he'd do something like he did in that guest comic by Bochi in Multiple Bullets. I don't know.

Random HCs for the rosebots ship; when they’re older they both “retire” in the middle of nowhere, away from the big city, but said house has a lot of technological advances and instruments -they are child free for obvious reasons -Peni is a great singer, Yinu isn’t -Mama loves Peni, and considers kits to be her second child -Maybe Yinu starts to use neopronouns bc kit/kits was too cute -Yinu switched to being vegetarian in solidarity with Peni (she never liked the texture of meat)
Oh I like that last point a lot. Though it would actually be more likely for Yinu to become vegan at that point because she is very lactose intolerant so she already avoids animal milk. I can see Peni also going just full vegan in solidarity with Yinu. Sure they could be vegetarians and eat things like eggs, but I feel like they would just become vegans in the end (maybe sometimes eating vegetarian meals without lactose but with some animal products, but that is a rarity).
I wonder who truly wanted to go to the middle of nowhere out of the two. Like they both definitely did, but I can see Yinu not wanting to say anything because she is so used to the city, or at least being very close to the city, that she wasn't really ready to address the fact she might want to leave it all behind.
That would leave Peni to be the one to suggest it. I do think Peni loves the city a lot, having grown up in an entirely different city, living in Nueva York and the city around that place, and then finally living in Vinyl City for a while (possibly even living in a city in the UK for a bit), but finally wanted to see how it was to be in nature.
Definitely think Peni and Yinu move to Mexico for a short time where Mama took over Esther's farm land once she passed (it's definitely not as big as it was when Mama was a child, but still very full of nature). It would just to give Peni the taste of nature to make sure kit would actually want to live there, and that brings up old childhood memories for Yinu and both decide they definitely want to live in the middle of nowhere and have their own little garden and stuff (cottagecore life for the win lol)
Like you said, a lot of instruments are definitely there. Someone driving down the long road can sometimes hear the loud sounds of beautiful music being played (I doubt Peni's voice could be heard from very far away unless she is purposely projecting).
I also love the idea that Yinu can't sing lol. I never thought of that before and now all I can think about is 1010 always trying to teach Yinu to sing but failing at it (well Yinu sings happily, just not well lol) and then Peni comes along and sings with 1010 (maybe this is a bump in their friendship at the time as Yinu feels like shit for not being as good as Peni who never had any proper singing lessons unlike Yinu). Thankfully now, Peni and Yinu sing together for fun and will sometimes reminisce on the fact Yinu got jealous of Peni's voice when they were younger only for Yinu to fall in love with it.
You have no idea how happy Peni would be to hear kit is seen like a second daughter to Mama. I personally think Peni's mom became infertile after having Peni and had really bad PPD. It really hurt their relationship and kits mom could never truly love Peni in the way that kit needed (I don't know if kits mom died or left, but either way she left Peni's life pretty early but not early enough for the damage to not be done). So hearing Mama say kit is another child for her to love just breaks her heart in a good way.
The same could be said for Mama, who always wanted a big family, but wasn't able to have that because of Papa's health. 1010 (especially Carna and Maragold) kinda filled in that hole a little, but not in the same way as Peni did since Peni became more a part of Mama's family than Carna and Maragold did (she still loves those two, but over time the kind of familial relationship went away, especially if Neon and her just remained solely as friends. It would be a slightly different story if her and Neon got together).
I kinda like the idea that Yinu plays around with the idea of neopronouns for a bit, but doesn't stick with them. I just really prefer Yinu with she/he/they pronouns (which I realized I haven't used he/they for Yinu in this one all that much, whoops, forgot lol). But if Yinu did, what neopronouns do you (or anyone) think Yinu would use? I doubt they would go with any like plant-based ones like rose/roseself or music-based ones. I kinda see Yinu using like a more random one not related to anything associated with them. It would be kind of like wanting a disconnect from their old self they can use to connect with a new version of themself.
I know that's hard to explain/understand but Yinu just needs a new break that is separate from what he had been doing for all of his childhood and teen years. A fresh start, and maybe neopronouns are how he gets that. Maybe he does end up using some neopronouns and Peni is the one who encouraged it because kit could see Yinu needed something to break him out of the monotony of life that was slowly starting to get to Yinu.
Anyway! I think these headcanons are really nice and I honestly really like them all a lot. These two really do just need to get away from everything and have some peace of mind and happiness.

This is kinda ironic... I started eating plant based over a year ago (I think April 2022) with the mindset of "only doing so for health reasons" and not caring if I had to eat animal products if the situation called for it (e.g. when I'm at a restaurant that doesn't have any vegan option, as it's the case at christmas dinners). Since I ate kinda vegetarian/plant based anyways most of the time, the changes weren't really big, except for having to read food labels on products that weren't already labelt as vegan (which happens a lot in our asian supermarkets).
Anyways, fast forward to June/July 2023 in which I started to get health problems with unknown origins. Did some blood work, since my doc couldn't tell me what's wrong from the sympthoms alone, but I guess he also wanted to check since I said that I'm eating plant based. The results said that I was only a little bit deficient in B12, so he recommended that I should a) take a supplement for a little while and b) stop eating strictly plant based. I did all that, because like I said I was kinda doing it for health reasons anyways and if my health suffered from it, so why not just go back to eating omnivorous.
Now, here is the twist: I used to take a multy vitamin (with B12 + K2 + D3 + B2) because I knew that people on plant based diets have to supplement some vitamins. But I stopped taking them at some point, since I thought that I actually got enough through my food... (yes, even B12...). I guess one can see where this is going. A man made disaster waiting to happen basically.
In the end I went back to eating plant based, after trying to eat vegetarian for like two month (since I really love eggs...) and getting really bad breakouts all over my face and upper body (very likely due to yoghurt consumption).
The irony behind all of this is that I actually start to care now... not only about the health aspect but the animals as well...
"How come?" one might ask. I started living in an area that has lot of animals (predominantly cows) that are grasing on the fields during the warmer month. As someone who used to live in a big city, that's quite a new sight. I also see a lot of animal transports now (which I never saw before). All of this combined builds new perspectives and it makes you think a lot more about animal welfare.
So yeah... what a very interesting turn of events.

I just realized something about the world building for my main book im writing.
Okay, so my vampires are different compared to the typical vampire you see in like twilight or buffy the vampire slayer, etc. because I made it that the mechanics of the vampire is that they don't feed on blood, they feed on lifeforce which can contain in blood (has to be drained directly from human/animal) but also in plants as well because they're living things too. Also seeds, nuts, fruits and eggs contain lifeforce in them and is a better way for vegetarian and vegan vampires to get their lifeforce and for just any vampire in my world that doesn't or can't hunt. The thing with those is that they have to be consumed raw because cooking or roasting those things will burn off the lifeforce out of it.
Now, if you think about it, seeds and nuts and fruits and eggs are products of reproduction of animals and plants and uh...theoretically a vampire in my world can survive by being a total slut. Only works if its a slut that likes men but yeah its theoretically possible.
Once I release this book on wattpad pls don't do smut fanfiction of the protagonist bc he's two weeks old and is literately a fucking baby. Wait till I do the second sequel of this bc then he'll be 18-19 and you can do as much smut as you please. No, aging him up does not count.
Read more on an apithany I have to allow this theory work with transmen as well
Ok. So the magic system I have works with not only various gods but also the elements that are associated with the gods. No its not god of fire god of water no no no. We have god of sodium and god of iron and god of silver etc. Yes that includes those elements that have a tiny ass half lives. Anyways.
The goddess Luna is the goddess of souls and her element is silver (based on what metal in alchemy correlates to the moon) who also lives on the moon. Lunarian magic is very popular in medicinal magic because it solves the issue of having to get organ donations asap. Now, in this world you can let the organ die (including a 100 year old arm from some random mummy) and with lunarian magic bring it back alive because you can tie the patient's soul that needs the organ to the dead organ/body part and it will be good as new. This includes dick donations. that's right bitch in this world trans men's bottom surgery is you ask for a whole ass dick and they stitch it up and use moon magic to make it work. This also works for tiddie donations for the girlies.
Now the question you may have: Alan! But what about the genes in the transplanted dick? Wouldn't it not match with the new owner? And the answer is: Reproduction in this world focuses more on souls than actual biology but biology still plays a factor. Trans men's children wouldn't exactly look like the trans father but closer to the father than if the original guy did the fathering. And tbh if bottom surgery was like this irl, I wouldn't mind if my biological kids didn't really look like me bc they'll still be my kids and I say that as a trans man which is not every single trans guy's opinion.
Ok I'll eventually write a whole arc in this world about 1) a trans man character and 2) have one of my characters have a medicinal magic elective to learn about this.
