currently kinda chomping at the bit a little over two lines I found while re-reading my old Dragon Age fic notes that never ended up seeing the light of day-

"It is better to die thinking you were right, than to be faced with the wrongness of your actions."

and

and I hope against all hope that I didn't fucking doom myself to needing to make a fucked up decision in Veilguard the moment I decided that my (overall good, but impulsive, passionate, and somewhat naive) Inquisitor (who had just learned that he was used, lied to, and stabbed in the back by one he thought a good and respected friend)(and was a Reaver hopped up on a bucket of adrenaline) would stumble through that last Eluvian more or less blinded by pain, fear, and a murderous rage

like.... I'm sure he's calmed down quite a bit since then. he was barely 25 during Trespasser and will be like 33-34-ish during Veilguard, he's a whole-ass different person. he's been through the mental health ringer, a year(s?)-long obsessive chase, and an additional 5-6 years of mutual domesticity with the love of his life. surely what he once said in anger isn't reflective of his feelings now, and it isn't going to come back to bite him square in the ass.

like, he's a good, forgiving man. his judgements (all of which Solas was there to see) are evidence that he has an endless supply of second chances he isn't frugal with handing out. but for that, he needs to be able to think about it, and in that moment... oh, boy, in that moment, he was not thinking about it.

"I'm coming to stop you", in that moment, is such a perfectly Ray thing to say, I can't even bring myself to change it in my headcanon, but the closer release draws, the more anxious I get, and the more I hope that that moment's slip won't cost him his life.

(maybe I'll just headcanon in that it haunts him, too, that moment. not just in the "I should have ran him through while I still could" sense, but also in the "I shouldn't have said that- I don't know what would have been the right thing to say, but I shouldn't have said that" sense.)

(maybe he sometimes still lies awake at night, listening to Dorian's soft breathing beside him, and replays that moment over and over in his mind- but every time, he stops before he could say those words. as if to hope that if he thinks hard enough, if he's just clever enough, he can retroactively will into existence a line that'll stop all this madness before it would have ever began. as if coming up with the right words in the right sequence then and there could have convinced Solas to stop, step back, and let it all rot where it stands.)

(It's wishful thinking, but despite knowing that if it comes down to a choice, I know very well what he'll pick, god, do I hope he makes it through this alive.)

100 Reasons Why I Love SEVENTEEN !

A/N: Okay, let’s be real—this was both the easiest and hardest thing I’ve ever written. SEVENTEEN gives me too many reasons to love them, so narrowing it down to just 100 felt like I was betraying 1,000 others. But at least, I tried. This list is a mix of my emotional breakdowns, daily fangirl struggles, and moments where I stare at my bias list wondering how it got so wrecked (answer: SEVENTEEN). Think Better of Me Father: An Analysis about "Greatness" in Sofia the First

So, first off, yes, I did in fact use Faramir's words very intentionally in this title because I will absolutely die on the hill that Cordelia, Cedric, and Goodwyn are toddler reincarnations of Boromir, Faramir, and Denethor. Also, there are striking similarities between Cedric and Sofia's relationship and the one between Gandalf and Pippin.

However, those are a different posts for a different time.

I recently got into a reblog chain with @shychick-52 about the line in Day of the Sorcerers in which Cedric says: "All I wanted was to be seen as a great man."

Throughout the series, we see the concept of "greatness" discussed frequently by various characters. Specifically, we see it as a title applied to Goodwyn, Cedric's father.

We know from the pilot that Cedric "comes from a long line of Royal Sorcerers, so we're stuck with him." We know that Goodwyn has "saved the King's life 9 1/2 times."

However, throughout the series, as we get to know Goodwyn, we see he's not all that great a man.

He's distant. He's unfeeling. He's unkind. He brags. He ignores his son's pleas for affection. He pits his children against each other. He doesn't pay much attention to his wife.

He's a great sorcerer.

He's not a good man.

As someone who is transmasc nonbinary and a parent, I'm fascinated by portrayals of manhood in media for all ages.

Yet, the thing I find the most utterly fascinating of all is that the further Cedric strays from trying to emulate Goodwyn the *better* he becomes.

Cedric's dreams of having a lot of power, of being seen as a great sorcerer?

That is the place Cedric's villainy comes from.

Once Cedric decides for himself to become a *great man,* not a great sorcerer, A GREAT MAN, he is finally able to be free from villainy and unkindness. He is able to be himself freely.

He is able to *be* great.

In the end, Cedric is powerful because he is a great man, and a good person. He is someone who loves people, someone who wants to teach through encouragement and not over correction, someone who wants to take out bullies in all forms even Fliegels, someone who knows the difference between innocent pranks and real harm, and someone who, at the end of the day, loves his charges with all his heart, all his mind, and all his strength.

There are several moments that highlight the major differences in personality between Cedric and Goodwyn throughout the series.

Therefore, I don't think it's an accident how closely in the lineup we see "Substitute Cedric" and "Mystic Meadows."

Cedric, at first, tries teaching the way we see Goodwyn teach. He's standoffish. He's cold. He complains. You can just hear the “It couldn’t be more simple, (Cedric).”

However, when he sees the kids struggling, Cedric sees *himself.* And, the walls come down. He can't do to the RPA kids what his father and so many others have done to him. He can't perpetuate what he has endured.

So, he changes the script.

And, he is recognized as a great sorcerer for his efforts in being able to teach without ever once lifting his wand.

He would have never recognized that, but he's overjoyed to see that there *is* greatness there.

Goodwyn can do any spell himself but, even waving his wand around and screaming his head off at his son, he never makes Cedric any better at doing spells. Even after 37-40+ years of going at this, Goodwyn has never once been successful at making Cedric better at anything.

Cedric in one day with the RPA students taught them more by relating to them with humble empathy than Goodwyn has with his own biological son ever.

Cedric's trying to prove himself and show off leads to him being in a position of humility. It's through that humility that Cedric is able to show more greatness than most other sorcerers ever show. Period.

Also in the "Mystic Meadows" episode, we see Goodwyn talking about all his trophies. We see him showing off all his magical artifacts and such.

Sofia once got cursed for getting a little too swept up in getting to sing her national anthem.

Goodwyn is basically gloating over every single thing he has ever done while calling his son incompetent to his face.

Meanwhile, the first time Cedric has a real conversation with Sofia, in "Cedric's Apprentice," he basically humbly lays bare why she shouldn't want his help. He admits to her his faults before any successes he has had. "I've never saved anybody's life. Not even half."

(I don't actually believe that's true. For, it is heavily implied in DotS that Cedric has had successes, perhaps major ones, we just don't really see them or know about them because we're not supposed to. Leaves a lot up to the imagination. 15 years in school is a looong time. 17+ years after graduation is also a long time. We’ve only seen like 3-4 years of those 17+ since Cedric’s graduation from Hexley. But, that's a story for another time.)

So, despite Cedric's story and admission, Sofia chooses to ask for Cedric's help anyway. She's immediately relaxed and comfortable around Cedric in ways that she's just *not* around Goodwyn.

Sofia grimaces awkwardly so many times in "Mystic Meadows" before she finally points out all of Goodwyn's flaws in "helping" Cedric. Goodwyn’s constant berating and belittling of Sofia’s mentor makes her really uncomfortable.

Goodwyn is supposed to be great. He has trophies. He has fought monsters. He's respected. He never once turned against his king.

But, he's not a good person.

He's not a great man.

Sofia's greatest gift is her ability to see through the masks people put up to protect the hurt they hold inside themselves.

Sofia saw through Amber's hurt that Sofia was going to take away, instead of add to, the love and stability in her home.

Sofia saw through Hugo's pretenses every time he tried to put up walls around his true desires or interests.

Sofia saw through Minimus' anxieties into the desires for adventure that he thought could never be his because of what he had been taught about himself.

Sofia saw through Goodwyn's perfectly-perfect in every way exterior to see the arrogance underneath.

Sofia saw through Cedric's stone heart and the mask he put up to protect himself from further abandonment to see the kind hearted mentor, friend, and father figure who would protect her from anything.

In the end, Cedric is great, just not in the ways he expected.

In "In Cedric We Trust," Cedric's magic goes right until it doesn't. He gets disarmed pretty quickly. But, instead of giving up, instead of calling failure because he has to be a great sorcerer to be great, he sacrifices himself and his safety.

He's not his father.

He's not throwing in the towel because the spell went wrong or because there are no spells at all.

Cedric is going to do whatever he can to defend the people he cares about. Up to and including throwing his own body in front of the child he has come to care about like his little Arthur, of sorts.

He's a great man.

In the "Finale," he allows the energies of an entire cast of characters to run through him. He asks for help. He becomes a conduit.

Personally, I can't imagine that sensation would be very pleasant.

But, it doesn't matter to him.

He'll do whatever it takes to bring Sofia back.

Cedric has finally, at that point, accepted that he is not going to be great in the way his father is.

It doesn't matter to him if Goodwyn could cast that spell without any help. (I personally HC that Cedric was *the only person in the Realm* who could have cast that spell. But, that is also a story for another time.)

Instead, Cedric accepts that he's different. He has to become a conduit. Everyone has to work together through him. He'll direct the energy, but he needs everyone to help him do this.

Cedric's greatness is his sacrifice and humility.

Even with "help," he almost falls over. He struggles.

When Roland braces his shoulders and speaks to him with kindness, when he acknowledges Cedric's greatness for what it is, Cedric tears up.

Cedric is not his father.

He may use the family wand.

He may have moments of power.

He may be successful.

But, to quote Disney's Hercules, "For a true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart."

In the end, Cedric is great.

Not because he's super powerful.

Not because he gets spells right all the time.

Not because he's perfect.

Cedric is a great man because, despite every adversity, despite every mistake, he never allowed that to truly penetrate the strength of his heart. No matter what he may have believed for however brief or long a time on the surface, underneath it, he was always a good and great man.

It was there to see the whole time if people were simply willing to look for it.

disclaimer: most of this is me being very nitpicky. rose was a side character for all of these appearances so obv i understand that its not gonna be perfect characterization. but i rly like talking about rose characterization so this is just me pulling apart her appearances for fun <3

i LOVE the jason & rose dynamic. im not much of a jayrose fan but since its happening im glad that its like this. i love that its so much "rose is excessively horny and jason is giving her nothing" bc its so in character for both of them. shes fucking with him and he does not know how to reciprocate. they r so sillies

HOWEVER. rose would not just hang around him like shes doing. as much as i like that dynamic i feel like he also has to at least sometimes show that hes. you know. interested in having her around. shes just kinda tagging along and i wish there was a reason why she would put up with him never giving her anything, especially since she has a tendency to leave at the first sign of not being wanted

on a completely different note, im a little disappointed that shes wearing her old costume instead of the new one she has in btbatb/kt ravager. i appreciate that shes still drawn like an adult but i rly like her new costume so im sad that she doesnt have it

my big problem here is that she does not carry a gun and pretty much never uses guns. honestly now that im thinking about it this is one of the only times shes ever used a gun on panel (the other times i can think of being: shooting wade off a cliff after her mom died, shooting starfire in n52 outlaws (but new 52 rose barely even counts as rose), and using deathstroke's gun when she was pretending to be him in deathstroke 2016)

shes not anti-gun or anything but it still bothers me just a little that suddenly she has a gun (hence why i fully believe she stole jasons gun <3)

if i want to nitpick, kate should not have been able to hit her. rose should've seen she was coming wayyy before (bc precog) and she wouldnt be knocked down from one hit. i fear we are headed down a path of her becoming jasons incompetent girlfriend but i wont be too dramatic about her getting hit one (1) time

but other than that i thought this was a fun moment of rose getting hit then jason immediately fighting the person that hit her. toxic girlbesties fr

then also her needing to be held back after she gets up so she doesnt start attacking the person thats helping them <3 i love her

this is a nice issue for her just because in true rose tradition she LOVES to have homoerotic fights with every other female character she interacts with. the kate & rose dynamic was soooo fun i love it when shes mean to people for no reason <3

i did not like this part though. i feel like there are a lot of implications about rose here that are unfair to her character & her place in the dcu. i'll meet the book on its own terms and say that we're only talking about post-52 rose (blah blah everything's canon rn but this book is very clearly not using pre-52 rose lore) but even then? theres no real reason for her to be ducking superheroes or for superheroes to keep an eye on her. shes not a villain or even much of a killer, the fact that shes "staying off the radars" of good guys doesnt make much sense. and the fact that kate knows her and "studies" her (fellas is it gay to study another woman despite never meeting her) implies that rose is like. a threat. shes just kind of around there is no reason kate should know her like that

cute moment! but also it bothers me. i think its fun that she refused to go since its not her fight and she doesnt want to get into a joker mess. HOWEVER. when has she ever in her life passed up an opportunity to get involved in someone elses problem. to me she wouldnt have even delivered the list of addresses without a fight if she wasnt gonna go along

other than her using a gun again (where the hell did she even get that) i like this <3 her showing up and saving manhunter after she said she didnt care what happened is so her. also i just like the fact that she shot joker

okay first of all i LOVE that he took her along. there was no reason for rose to be here but jason was told to meet someone and said "ok ill go but my weird friend comes with me" its so funny

ive seen a lot of people complain about the "you're my only friend" line but i LOVE it. not necessarily because she doesnt have any friends but because she would not in a million years ADMIT that she has friends. she would rather be shot in the head than say that she actually likes the people that she hangs out with.

but to be fair.... she also doesnt have friends. "what about the lazarus island gang?" the only person she actually liked there and showed any friendship toward was damian, and they ARE friends but she considers him more of a little brother than a friend. "what about the teen titans??" a) she would NEVER admit that she is friends with any of them b) its technically.... not really canon that she was ever on the same team as them. like i said before, im meeting this book on its terms, and rose being a teen titan hasnt been mentioned since flashpoint :( i wont go on a whole tangent about her friends but given that she hasnt really made a friend in years and never talks to anyone else, i think its fair for her to say that she has no friends

so yeah all this to say: she has friends, but it is 100% in character for her to say that she has no friends. i stand by this line

im sorry jay/rose fans this makes me want to vomit. this feels too "earnest emotions" for both of them. the rest of this scene was fine but this panel specifically feels so :/

"i just need help" "always" and "please take care of yourself" and "meet at our spot" "promise?" "i promise" does not feel like them at all. its a very sweet and genuine moment but they would NOT have sweet and genuine moments! neither of them would ever express their feelings and they would not have this conversation

this does not feel like rose at all idk who this is. where is the rage!!!!!! where is the anger!!!!!!! why did she stand there for hours just. worried about him. why isnt she lashing out

comparing this to the scene in tt03 where she's worried about eddie:

she gets angry! shes worried about him and starts yelling at everyone around her because hes hurt and she doesnt know whats happening. i would have LOVED this energy in this book and its sooooo disappointing that she just. stands there like 🥺 when she doesnt know what happened to jason

very minor complaint here but this isnt even true . she DOES try to run into him in ds16 when slade kidnaps damian and rose gives bruce the ransom terms. also i feel like this line is vaguely implying that she HAS found him (/he found her) on accident before which is also not true given that their only interactions are in ds16 and being in the same general area in shadow war. and also reiterating that shes not a villain so batman has no reason to track her down or cause problems for her but. whatever. this is entirely just me jumping to conclusions about what this one throwaway line means and then getting mad about it

this ending is really good for her though. she absolutely would dive into the water with joker gas, trash, and dead bodies just to save her friend <3

in conclusion: there are many good moments. there are many parts i like about it. but there are just so many things that dont feel like rose </3 most of the broad strokes are there but it just doesnt feel like her when shes not full of rage and going out of her way to piss people off

I can't pick one favorite! I'll just mention that Wilkie Collins has written some of my favorite female characters in Victorian fiction--Marian Halcombe in The Woman in White is one of my favorite characters ever, and I loved The Law and the Lady mostly because of how much I loved the narrator.

One of the reasons Little Town on the Prairie is my favorite Little House books is because of how well Wilder presents Nellie Oleson and Miss Wilder as villains.

Probably the coolest one I've ever listened to was the full-cast audio recording of Fairest by Gail Carson Levine, because it takes place in a world where people often sing in their day-to-day lives, and this audio version has the characters sing all the songs!

As far as ones that are readily available, my favorite is the Jim Dale version of Around the World in 80 Days. That man's range of voices is astounding!

On Librivox, Vanity Fair (Version 2) has the best Librivox narrator I've ever heard. Most of the time, I'm just happy if the narrator pronounces everything correctly, with bonus points if they have a fitting accent. This woman was doing multiple accents!

The Toonami Trending Rundown for the month of August 2024. After over a decade on the lineup with 22 seasons and 500 episodes, we say goodbye to Naruto Shippuden as the show completes its long run on Toonami. Toonami viewers would also get to see the premiere of Rick and Morty: The Anime, a side story of the popular Rick and Morty television series that was directed by Takeshi Sano.

For the night of August 10, #Toonami trended in the USA on Twitter alongside Demon Slayer and a character trend from One Piece in Usopp. Demon Slayer also trended on Tumblr. On August 17, Toonami trended in the USA alongside Rick and Morty, Demon Slayer, and Naruto Shippuden. And on the nights of August 24 and 31, Toonami trended in the US alongside Demon Slayer and Shippuden. In addition, on August 31, Toonami trended on Tumblr alongside One Piece and #mha and #bnha.

As for Toonami Rewind, #Toonami would trend in the USA alongside Sailor Moon on the broadcasts of August 2 and 9.

August 24-25’s feature was a new Toonami ID titled “Engine Test.” You can check it out below.

And the August 31 edition of Toonami saw a game review of Hauntii by Moonloop Games. It received an 8/10 score.

Naruto does have a finale and epilogue besides this final episode of Shippuden, that being The Last: Naruto the Movie which came out in Japan in 2014, that goes into more detail on how Naruto and Hinata hooked up and eventually got married. And there’s Boruto: Naruto the Movie released in 2015, which serves as the bridge to the Boruto anime series.

Unfortunately, as with the likes of Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale, Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul, and Dr. Stone: Ryusei, getting anime movies has been very difficult for Toonami to acquire nowadays, so fans will have to watch those parts of the story elsewhere. Alongside budgetary issues, anime movies are usually separately licensed from the shows themselves, and tend to have a bigger and/or different production committee from the anime. And not all companies are willing to give Toonami a discount for a broadcast deal, or even let them air it at all regardless of being essential to the storyline.

Speaking of Boruto, while Toonami aired the first 52 episodes in 2019, the show has been put into an indefinite hiatus (if not outright canceled) from the block due to low ratings (and likely a high asking licensing price from Viz and Shueisha, et. al). Despite that Studio Pierrot has made an additional 241 episodes of the series, its last airing on March 2023.

Given that Toonami has opted to rerun Naruto from the beginning again for Rewind, and given that’s it’s been six years since Boruto left, it’s likely that the Naruto franchise has premiered its last episode on Toonami. But as Jason DeMarco has regularly said: “never say never.” And perhaps one day, this franchise will make its return (outside of reruns). Nonetheless, it was a fun ride watching the Knuckleheaded Ninja of the Leaf Village grow up to become the 7th Hokage. Believe it!

Definitive Thoughts on Kamen Rider Part Fourze (haha reference)

SPOILERS FOR KAMEN RIDER FAIZ, BLADE, AND HIBIKI BELOW THE BREAK

this is one of the more turbulent batches of shows and i have alot of thoughts on them

reminder that this is just my opinions and observations and nothing should be taken too seriously, although I am open to discuss them

Faiz

Ring ring mother fuckers its the cleaners

Plot/Concept: 7/10 

I wasn’t really sold until the end of the first episode, which isnt too bad compared to other series. The phone thing was weird but then also very cool. I also liked Takumi refusing to take the belt for a while, big fan of refusing the call. Also i did NOT know what the Orphnochs were before watching this show and they are such a cool concept for a monster.

Execution: 6/10

This series went so hard. I enjoyed every moment of it, even though it had me screaming at my screen trying to get Takumi and Yuji to fucking talk to each other. I was a really big fan of the two groups of protagonists, and while they crossed over quite a bit, it was interesting seeing the duality between the Human group and the Orphnochs, and how they both dealt with the threat of Smart Brain.

I do feel like characters morals tended to flip on a dime, but to be honest if Masato wasnt a fucking bastard every time he was on screen, there’d be alot less infighting between the main cast. I also wish it leaned more into the “exploring what it means to be human through characters who have lost their humanity,” cause i feel like they wanted to at some points but just never like, completed the moral? I dunno what im tryna say here but it left me wanting more. The entire plotpoint where the cops began to experiment on the orphnochs just sort of came out of left field for me? Like it felt like they wanted to set that up much earlier in the show and then they forgot to include the two police officers who were investigating the orphnoch-related deaths for like 80% of the show. Maybe it’s becaue i had just come from Kuuga and Agito, where the police played a much more important and competent role, but they just felt underutilized and shoehorned in.

Also they kept setting up Delta to be this godlike power that had a physical affect on the wearer, but then they gave it to the most wet cat of a wearer and it lost all its aura. They had to kill Saya off because she was too much of a menace with the Delta Gear, and as a result it has this “Main Villain When They Join The Party” moment where Mihara is just such a pushover with the belt. 

Characters: 7/10

A pretty solid cast with weak supporting characters. I didn’t really care for the Ryussei school members, which is fine cause they all died within a couple episodes from being introduced. I’ve already talked about how much I hate Masato as a person, but wow they had no reason to keep being friends with him outside of him being Kaixa. I want to hit him with a car. Other than that though, the cast was pretty good.

Character Designs: 9/10

Oh my goodness gracious the suit designs were so spicy. I really enjoyed how each of the rider suits looked, and i liked the more futuristic vibes the riders had against the animalistic features of the Orphnocs. I especially liked how different and unique the Orphnoc suits looked, even though the color palette was lacking. Even then, the greyscale nature of the suits fit the vibes they were going for, and it made the “crumble to dust” effect even more believable. 

Music: 10/10

It felt like there were like three different directions the music was going, and i fucked with ALL of them :3 i especially liked the more synth heavy music, it reminded me alot of bladerunner. The insert songs were also incredibly good - big fan of Dead Or Alive and Eyes Glazing Over.

Also the voice that the belts had was hot

Overall: 8/10 A tier 

Blade

“Hey, wanna play 52 card pickup?” 

Releases an undying horde of monsters

Plot/Concept: 4/10

The playing cards aesthetic is cool, but the first three episodes hit plot beats that would take other seasons 20 episodes and im so confused. Really holding on to hope that it’ll slow down and gain a better pace.

Execution: 7/10

Oh it brought it back alright. Pretty much since episode 4, the plot regained a decent pacing and made much more sense, and they were able to actually develop the main characters in a meaningful way. There were some parts I didn’t really mesh with, like Hajime’s amnesia arc being kinda stupid and a contrived way to set up The Joker and Garren’s Jack Form. 

It wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty good.

Characters: 10/10

The characters were the best part of this show for me. The parallels between them are just perfect, and while Kenzaki seemd a bit inconsistent at the start of the show, i think he wound up having my favorite motivation out of any rider, not just in the show but in the series as a whole. “I fight because I love people” is so fucking awesome as a concept and it makes Kenazki’s actions in both future and prior episodes make alot more sense. I fucking love Kenzaki he’s just like me fr fr.

Hajime and the rest were pretty cool, but i could go on a separate rant about them, about how Hajime and Kenzaki have parallel yet opposite journeys, about how Tachibana’s fear remains in his heart, leading him to be vulnerable to manipulation, and about how Mutsuki was echoing Tachibana’s arc but had an actual support system to help him, as opposed to Tachibana’s continuous loss of the people who cared about him throughout the series, helped him find his own strength and bravery, instead of relying on an outside source for his strength (drug allegory my beloved), and just in general how the characters explored the shows themes of Love, Bravery, and fighting against Fate.

Also the Royal Club undead were really cool and I kinda wish they came into play earlier in the show. 

Character Designs: 10/10

I LOOOOVed the suits in this one, especially Chalice. The monster design in this show was on point, especially the undead that were themed more around insects - i think those were my favorite ones. While not technically a “character,” the Master being just a fucking obelisk instead of like, a monster like the rest was super cool, and contributed to the shows themes of fighting against fate. More villains that are just Big Fucking Obelisks, please!

Music: 9/10

Erm, yeah i think so. I loved the music direction this show took. There’s one track in particular im looking for and can’t find cause i dont know it’s name, but once i find it the monarch stocks will be so up. Anyway yeah basically the music in this show bangs

Overall: 8/10. S Tier

Hibiki

As a drummer, I feel seen.

Plot/Concept: 7/10

Its so different than the other shows, in a way I kinda fuck with. Hibiki feels very similar to Godai Yusuke to me, which is a dub cause we love Godai Yusuke in this household. I also really mesh with the idea of focusing on a civilian character interacting with the main rider (a direction i thought Wizard was going to take but just didnt), and I hope they stick with it.

Execution: 5/10

It could’ve been so much more. It started off strong, but outside of more interesting monsters and meeting other Oni, it didn’t feel like there was any ramping action until Orochi happened, which was such a sudden spike in danger. I did really enjoy Asamu’s journey throughout the series, and how the things that happened to him in his day to day life paralleled the things the Oni were going through. The show was definitely gunning towards a message that no matter how different you may seem from others, we are all facing the same hardships, which is a decent message all things considered.

Now, I am aware that the show changed writers partway through, which is why everything was kinda scuffed in the second half of the show. And that’s fine, it happens, but it sucks that despite this they still managed to drop the ball on its ending. I really don’t think that Hibiki should’ve been the one to stop Orochi, it should’ve been Ibuki. The whole “only a single Oni can perform the ritual” is so arbitrary and is just a dumb and contrived way to get Hibiki into the spotlight at the very end. For a show that has a big focus on how all of the characters work together for the same goal, this was a crazy thing for Hibiki to do, especially since they established that Ibuki knew how to use the drums in an earlier battle. The other thing they could’ve done was highlight ALL the Oni by having them perform with their instruments, harmonizing their Purifying Sound to cleanse the planet together. 

Characters: 9/10

Honestly, the character arcs carried this show, which I guess was the point especially early on. I loved how Asamu mirrored Hibiki, although the way that everyone treated his obsession with Hibiki was kind of strange to me. While I did enjoy how everyone interacted with each other, it felt like no one set any fucking boundaries with each other. The only reason the characters weren’t 10/10 is because no one told Kiriya to get his head out of his ass, jesus christ everytime he opened his mouth I wanted to push him down a flight of stairs. They tried to treat him as a rival/foil to Asamu but like, he definitely didn’t come across that way. I’m surprised he didn’t pull a Masato and try to destroy Asamu’s life through lies and deceit. At least he wasn’t racist.

Also a remarkable lack of gay tension in this show - a new record for kamen rider.

Character Designs: 8/10

All the oni suits were so cool. The monsters left alot to be desired, but honestly they weren’t too bad. They were just very samey? Like Idk if it was a budget thing (which would make sense given the amount of CGI they had to use for the Makamou) but like half the Douji and Hime suits were just the same suit with a fresh coat of paint and a different scarf. 

The Oni suits do commit the cardinal sin of “removing the mask to see the actors face” 20 years before recent media, which is so funny (and doesn’t always take away from the experience). I wish they kept the Oni claws though. That was kinda sick.

Music: 10/10

Yeah the show is about music the sound design better fucking rock. And it does! It goes so unbelievably hard! Nothing that I would listen to, but everything felt like it fit inside the show’s vibe.

Overall: 6/10. B Tier

Proclaiming Jesus Reigns!

How does it benefit you to share the Gospel? Isaiah 52:7 tells us

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!””

Our “feet” refers to our coming into one’s presence. When we approach people with the Gospel it should be “beautiful”, meaning attractive and welcome, not insulting or judgmental. That wasn’t Jesus’s style, was it? Instead He said, “Come, follow me!”

Isaiah also says that our feet are not only beautiful, but they’re “on the mountains“. Mountains in the Old Testament are as symbol of power. If you have felt powerless or vulnerable, sharing the Gospel shifts you into His powerful presence.

When we go to proclaim the gospel, we need to do so in the Lord‘s power, from his mountain. That’s the way the Apostles did it in Acts and the epistles, often with “signs and wonders“ common displays of the power of God confirming what they said was true.

The Hebrew word translated “good news“ here is

ט֖וֹב (ṭō·wḇ.) What’s interesting Is that the same word in the Greek Septuagint is rendered εὐαγγελιζομένο euangelizomenou.

We see it translated in several of the Gospels and Acts as “preached, the gospel, or good news”. Returning to Isaiah 52:7 we see that the good news or gospel is not so much the message that “Jesus saves” but rather that He “reigns”.

What’s the difference? The blood of Jesus doesn’t just save you from hell, it transforms you into a dynamic and powerful Kingdom-builder! How is this further developed in Isaiah 52:7? Let’s take another look at that Hebrew word, towb, which is also found in Genesis 1: 4

“God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness”

The Creator of the universe looks and sees that everything was “without form and void” and there was total darkness. So he speaks “light“ into the darkness and said it was towb!

The Gospel of John first chapter, first verse parallels Genesis 1, “in the beginning…” in verse four John identifies that light as being none other than Jesus Christ himself! He states that Jesus was with God in the beginning, and Jesus created all things in the beginning. In fact, John describes Jesus AS the Word.

When God spoke the universe into existence He spoke the Word! When He spoke the light into existence He spoke the Word. In fact John says in verse 4:

“ In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”

Jesus so identifies with His manifestation as the Light that He says "I am the light of the world" in John 8:12 and John 9:5.

So, we see that Jesus is the creation Creator Word and the Light that establishes dominion over the darkness in it.

What happens to darkness when you turn on a light? It’s gone! No spot in the room is dark. God’s power is not just for the person you are praying for or sharing the Gospel with. YOU are also in the room. Darkness is destroyed in YOU, too!

Why? Because Light dominates the darkness. 1 John 1:5 says, “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” Why? Because when God shows up He dominates and destroys darkness. Darkness no longer has power!

My friends, if you go forth proclaiming the message that Jesus REIGNS you’re proclaiming Him King there and advancing His Kingdom. You know that is exactly the message Jesus proclaimed, “ the kingdom of God is at hand!”.

When you proclaim what Jesus proclaimed you shine His Light and establish His Kingdom there. You go with beautiful feet and a mountain of powerful Light! And you walk in that powerful Light!

5. Hypersensitivity. Fact: being a celebrity means opening yourself to a host of different interactions and exposure. It means you'll be criticized over your fashion, your looks, your bad/good plastic surgery, your marriage, your career, everything. Don't want that kind of treatment? Don't be a celebrity. I'm not joking.

(I do draw the line at actually sending this stuff to or at the celebrity! I also draw the line at chasing them down on the streets and recording them unknowing—that’s just rude and intrusive. And most especially, thanks to what happened to Princess Diana, do not fucking chase them in cars while they’re trying to flee you!)

Anyway. A great deal of her Twitter history has been scrubbed, as has a lot of her other Mean Girl behavior online. No doubt she hired some firm or something to delete a lot of her Mean Girl tweets, the insults, but guess what? There are receipts.

Yet, when Danneel learned of some anti-Danneel posts, she went crying to Clif and had him write that ridiculous post defending the Ackles (and yes, the Padaleckis).

Jensen knows that if he doesn’t defend her, or tries to stand up for himself there will be repercussions.

Asking her a question about donations to the Austin PD got the person attacked and blocked.

When someone tweeted about the supposed rumor about the Ackles hosting orgies... needless to say Danneel hit fast.

And how about when Ted Casablanca tweeted about her being a beard for Jensen? Oh good grief....

6. Unsupportive Spouse: Danneel has a history of not being a supportive spouse. Her being a “mother and wife” just doesn’t seem to actually be there, historically. Nor as someone who actually loves her husband.

There’s the story (Charlotte, J2 Panel 2023) he told of her purchasing a ride in a race car for him… then her refusing to attend with the children, because it was “too early in the morning for her”. Then the race car itself was a style he absolutely did not like—and she knew it.

Time stamp 3:39 to 9:07: Jensen goes into details all the problems with this ride, including mentioning how Danneel did not want to get up to watch him. He explains the appearance of the car and it’s clear he doesn’t like it. All in all, he outright says he wishes he never went. Way to go, Danneel!

Time stamp 10:52: Jensen gets injured. States JJ came running because she heard him. Where… was Danneel? Seriously, where was Danneel in that story?

Time stamp 19:59: Where he actually looks a bit anguished when he shares that Danneel is constantly telling him to get a job, followed by the rude-ass fan who also shouts that, and he’s all “I’m trying, I’m trying!” Way to be supportive, Danneel (and all the rude-ass fans).

Time stamp 1:24 (different edit of same video): Rust shooting tragedy (different video). Danneel, as said by Jensen, refuses to come support/console him during this awful time. He claims she is afraid to fly (which she herself has claimed during the COVID lockdown videos she and Jensen has done) and would need a lot to drink in order to fly out to him. Um… I still say this is bullshit. Your husband is nearly killed; go get drunk, take a Xanax, whatever, and go to him. What makes it worse is that there was something about how she did not want him to talk to her about it. That she was super anxious. Ughhh….

Time stamp 26:44: When the finale script was made known, Jensen wasn’t feeling it at first. He calls Danneel—who tells him “You should call somebody about it.” Uh. He did! He called you! Way to be unsupportive, as usual.

7. Do they really share the same bed?

Time stamp 16:07: Jensen walks back the morning story by remembering he’s married and has to kick the wife out of bed. Um… Jensen…..

Time stamp 18:17: Especially when here, in San Francisco with Misha in 2024, he does not say kick the wife out of bed. Instead, he gets up, walks the dog, and then wakes up the household. Sir, you contradict yourself.

8. The cold Public Displays of Affection: There’s a lot of defense about how Jensen isn’t demonstrative about affection. To counter that, I point to all the PDAs of him and Jared, and even some with his former girlfriends. Such as:

With ex-girlfriend Joanna Krupa.

With ex-girlfriend, Lisa Rideg.

Yet, with Danneel, we get cold fish kisses. Yet, Jensen can’t tolerate a lot with Danneel. Odd, no? Not at a music festival, doing Choppa style (notice how he stops when he realizes Danneel is recording him?), or even when giving Steve a way better kiss and getting a cold fish kiss from Jensen.

He was really trying to pull away here.

Then there's the body language. They rarely ever really hug or stand so close together. There’s always a gap, never a warm embrace. In videos or in photos.

Misha is more affectionate with his wife than Jensen is seen with Danneel.

Oh wait. Danneel is more visually more affectionate with Steve than she is with her own husband!

I've decided to redo the original post, largely as most of it was heavily drawn/copy-pasted from @taraslittlecorner (now defunct/deactivated) and was not a good fit for me.. Listing receipts/evidence of why I feel this way should be calmer, with citations, proof as much as possible.

Here’s a caveat: This is my belief. This is my stance. I am not here to shove this into anyone else’s face and go “You should not be a Danneel fan!” I'm not demanding everyone believe me. This is me explaining why I am not a fan of hers, as to why I dislike her. No, I do not “hate” her. No, I am not obligated to respect her or like her just because she’s Jensen’s wife. That’s absurd.

Whenever possible, I will provide citation. Some I am unable to, because they have been deleted from the internet and unfortunately, the Wayback Machine (aka the Internet Archive) did not archive it and no one else screenshotted/linked the evidence. I will try to keep that as minimal as possible.

I'm placing a content/trigger warning, as there may be descriptions of abuse to follow. If description of abuse bothers you, even emotional abuse, I advise you to skip.

I'll add a cut here because it's going to get long!

**Disclaimer** This are observations and opinions of what I’ve seen, as well as what others have seen on social media, in interviews, etc. Each relationship is different, and each domestic abuse case can vary in degrees of abuse, usually over time, but not always. These are just some of the things we can see publicly, and if things are shown publicly, it’s a safe bet there’s worse happening behind closed doors. I’m not a medical professional nor expert, again, these are opinions and observations. Now to begin.

1. Fat Shaming Him

Jensen eating gummy bears. This post was made as a public stab at Jensen for the amount of gummy bears he was eating. It was a stab at not only his eating habits/weight, but it was also a stab at him being greedy or gluttonous.

1A. The End Result Of Fat Shaming:

There was this. Yes, it was probably around the time he was training for the marathon with Jared, but this was a scary weight drop. Especially as marathons and running require you to really increase your caloric intake to keep your weight and energy up. On the heels of the public fat-shaming, this is rather shocking.

Ignoring Danneel's claim of "marathon body", he did look skinny. You can compare how Jensen looked at the beginning of Supernatural to later seasons and there's a distinct difference. He's skinnier. Skinny does not always equate healthy, especially if it's muscle loss.

Unfortunately, other photos are in evidence of the massive weight loss.

This Tumblr post shows him still rather skinny during an event at FBBC.

Every time Jensen has to quarantine with her he starts to look like death warmed over, weight drop, sickly looking skin color, (which is also a sign of malnutrition), and that dead look we can’t get seem to forget. Then we get him back to work, and it’s almost an immediate improvement.

2. Unexplained Injury: There is the chunk that’s missing out of his nose now because of a nose injury that kept being explained in different instances at the same event as to how he even got it. It first appeared a day after the FBBC family reunion event that took place in May of 2018 in a post made by Danneel of Jensen playing with the kids, and people thought it was just a breathe right strip.

If you look closely, you can even see that his eyes looked to be blacked, as if he’d somehow broken his nose. Once he got to an event for Danneel’s Limbo Jewelry line launch in NYC, he kept changing the story as to how he got said injury. First he told fans that he’d hurt it by hitting a pool wall while playing with his kids. Then he said he’d dropped a keg on it. Well, if you’ve ever worked for a bar or been around kegs you know those things are heavy, and that story is untrue.

Had Danneel been walking around with an unknown injury and her story kept changing, it would have gotten attention. Men… not so much, and it shows.

3. Public Humiliation: There’s this Valentine’s Day post. Imagine reading that post, seeing your spouse mention their “first” love and then jokingly say you’re the second and “more important” love. Especially on the heels of Jensen’s fairly recent share at a convention of how “he’ll do” as her “second choice”. Your spouse should’ve been your first and only choice!

Posting him in his underwear just to garner some attention to her post. Honestly, it's pathetic, and adds to the narcissistic sociopath mentality assessment. What was the post about? To sell beer outside of Texas. But using Jensen to do it? Really, Danneel? God.

Then there's the photo of him in the bathroom. Some say he was a willing participant in the joke. I say "That doesn't matter." It's gross, crude, classless. It demonstrates how selfish she is.

I absolutely have a sense of humor. However, a joke only works if everyone is laughing.

Then there's this Jared photo. While not related to Jensen, it demonstrates just how much she doesn't care about people. She stated that she lied to Jared, that she deleted it, and then posted it anyway. How much you wanna bet that this was one of many reasons Jared and Genevieve pulled back from the Ackles? Because Danneel does not respect the Padaleckis, and Jensen cannot get Danneel to actually behave like a human being.

There's the whole AD House Tour. The whole video, she’s taking swipes at Jensen left and right. Claiming he didn't help in changing the kids’ diapers, to not cleaning the house at all, to not cooking at all.

Time stamp 0:58: The way Jensen hastily goes "not swing", to this day, honestly makes me wonder. Especially about that orgy rumor tweet....

Time stamp 1:14: Implying Jensen would be against flowers because it'd be "too girly", but then claiming he loved it. This makes me wonder. You'll see why later on in this post.

Time stamp 2:10: How is it Jensen didn't know that was the sex plant of a palm until then? Did he know nothing about that house??

Time stamp 3:11: Claiming it was Jensen’s first time in the kitchen, which literally doesn't make sense. Unless he'd been barred from the kitchen, surely he'd been in there to grab a beer, a snack, something for the kids. By saying this, she's implying that he uses her as a servant to get him everything. (I’m intrigued by Jensen's statement about the stove/oven, and how it was “so unnecessary”. He's been overruled.)

Time stamp 4:00: Jensen is very, very shocked that the chair moves. How is he that surprised by a moving chair? Does he not live there?! With kids, stuff would move!

Time stamp 5:39: Again, implying Jensen never helps out with the kids, the diapers. Uh, Danneel, neither do you. You have nannies.

Time stamp 6:04: She says it’s “ridiculous” he’s doing a marathon? It’s for charity, Danneel! So much for being a caring, compassionate person.

Time stamp 6:39: Jensen has to go to the guest room when he comes home late at night? Does Danneel not want to greet her husband lovingly, regardless of how late it is? She prioritizes sleep over him? Ooookay.

Time stamp: 6:58: Persistently tortures Jensen with the creepy doll. She knows it bothers him, yet keeps it around and keeps torturing him with it. Yeah, cool, that’s love, folks!

Time stamp 9:04: States rather publicly that he never cleaned the bathrooms. Danneel, honey, I’m fairly certain you don’t either—you have maids.

Time stamp 9:20: Embarrasses Jensen with the “where the magic happens” statement about the master suite. Jensen asked for it to not be included. Oh look. It's included. Overruled him again. He never has his way, does he, Danneel?

Time stamp 9:46: Of course Danneel doesn’t care that Jensen doesn’t like the big window and how people might be able to look in when they’re in the bathroom. She loves the attention and loves bragging about the man she trapped in marriage, no matter how uncomfortable it makes him. So considerate.

Time stamp 11:41: Puts Jensen down by saying she’s a little bit neater than him. Then puts him down again by saying he had help on cleaning up his side. Do you ever praise your husband, woman??

Yet, she praised him here, about how he’s been pitching in with mopping, preparing FBBC. Liar, liar, pants on fire at this point.

The FBBC interview. Let's not kid ourselves. That interview was bad. The interviewer didn't really do a good job, but it revealed a lot about the dynamic between Danneel and Jensen. At one point, Danneel claimed Jensen didn’t smell good, and he tried to excuse it because he was mopping (wait, I thought he didn't do any cleaning, Danneel??). Then she was like “Oh yeah he did so...” Then she made that horrible joke about being pregnant and Jensen actually gagged. Yes, he tried to play it off as a joke, but the look on his face was not that of a man who was happy to hear his wife was pregnant again. (Not to mention, you should never make such jokes because it’s such a heavily sensitive topic. Jokes only work if everyone laughs.) All of it was meant to humiliate and put Jensen down for the work he did in making FBBC a reality. There’s also the part where they were asked if they were tired of each other. Jensen was quick to say “Yes”.

Then there's Wales Comic Con. She made up the fib about auditioning for every single Supernatural female role, claimed she tried to use knowing/being with Jensen as a way in (that's called nepotism, dear), and all of that was... a lie. Then she tried to claim credit for helping Jensen drop the Dean voice while humiliating him about it. (He actually tried to defend himself by saying that was his voice.) The whole panel was humiliation after another. I detailed it in this post.

Not to mention her saying Jensen wasn't anything like David Spade and said “no, but you'll do”. Wow. Way to put your husband down and say he’s second best (again). Good lord.

Yet, she also said this:

Either he helps or he doesn’t, Danneel. Which is it?

4. Controlling. This part. I've gotten push back on this. “She doesn't work, she stays home all the time, how could she possibly control Jensen??”

By controlling his social media, and had been for years. No doubt this is largely to keep the facade of “happily married couple”, with her making posts on his Instagram in honor of her, praising her, and so forth. It’s also a way of monitoring his interactions with others, particularly women, and to keep track of who he’s been in touch with.

Indeed, I suspect up until Danneel’s birthday post this year, any comments, posts, that praised her were all Danneel, not Jensen.

Access to one’s cellphone, email address, and other social media is almost as good as attaching a GPS onto a person. If she accessed his cloud, she can access everything from text messages he’s sent to his most recent emails to his employers.

I have some proof but it will take time to document all of them.

There’s also this post, showing the difference between Danneel and Jensen.

There are also indications, histories, of Danneel signing fan autographs that said something along the lines of “hands off bitches, he’s mine”.

Jealous much, Ms. Graul?

It doesn't come across to me as "adorable" or "mischievous". It comes across to me as an insecure woman who knows her hold is tenuous at best.

But then she has a history of being controlling and jealous everywhere. Such as here and here.

She also insisted on him going out and looking for work all the time. Even after him wanting to reconnect with the family after the end of Supernatural. He suggested a three month trip around Europe, for the family.

Her response?

Then there were the recent cons where he mentioned it again, where Danneel is pushing him to go work, work, work. He’s never allowed to be home, to be a father, to be a husband. A loving marriage? I don't think so.

January 4, 2015.

Ugh. It's so hot today! Mum woke me up to ask if I wanted to join her on her walk at 9:30am. I declined and went back to sleep. Then I woke up to discover that Dad and Lauren had already been on a walk. We then went to put up the dartboard, but instead of mounting it to the wall like any normal person would, he made this weird wooden pedestal thing to put it on instead. That was incredibly unstable, so it came back down rather quickly. We then put my picture frame together (or at least we tried.) It didn't work, because Dad only used corner reinforcers rather than glue. We reconsidered, and now it's out in the theatre room with the glue drying. The dartboard then went up on the wall and we had a game. Lauren almost caught me writing just then, I think I've lost the advantage of her thinking that it's an electronic diary. We're going to the city tomorrow to go shopping, so I need to find something to wear. Then I think I'll go back to reading Fangirl. It's an insanely good book!

I took Charlotte for a walk today, and when I went through the bush, I saw that the litterers have been back. The tree branch which I placed across the track was not only removed, but broken in half. These people are obviously not to be messed with. Next time I'm alone, I think I'll call up the council and report these assholes for what they're doing to the bush. Hopefully I'll have enough phone credit to do so.

We had chicken for dinner. They didn't tell me until afterwards, but it was apparently the VERY SAME CHICKEN as that shitty, plastic-tasting stuff we had last year! Only difference, it was cooked on the BBQ. You could have fooled me into thinking it was fresh!

Then however, Mum went and asked me how much I've been weighing lately. I told her the truth (47.1, although I made it rather vague and said 47 point something) and she went in about how she doesn't want me to become anorexic and blah blah blah. I'm not going to. She needs to understand that it's my fight, not here. She should worry about herself, and maybe Lauren, but I'm fine.cim on cloud nine (whatever that even is) compared to this time last year. I was 52 in 2013. I've come so far and I'm learning to be happy. But I still want to go further. It's just hard when there are skinny, sporty, dark-and-mysterious, funny, dirty-minded, experienced, not-single, perfect-haired people like Anna who have all the guys begging at their feet, including all the guys you like. Except one, but you've already blown your chances with him. But you can't even hate this person, let the anger out that way, because they're one of your best friends. You can't hate them, so the only person left to hate is yourself. And when you hate yourself, you hate the fact that you hate yourself. So you decide to change that. And to change that, you change yourself. You change yourself for the better. And Mum just needs to get it through her fucking brain that I'm not hurting myself. I'm helping myself. I'm giving myself a chance to rise up to their level, to win something occasionally. Like a game in P.E. Or someone's heart. Because my days of losing are over.

Now I've got that out of the way, on a side note, I've decided that I'm not going to take any electronic devices on the cruise. It'll be a time for good old-fashioned fun (and no, eating does NOT count as fun, with any luck I'll keep my diet.). And while we're there, this diary will live in the safe in the room, where Lauren can't find it.

Shopping in the city tomorrow. And that means Costco pizza. Yay. (note the heavy sarcasm). But it also (hopefully) means DFO. That's good.

i am stuck on who would be a better match for you between chan and lee know. the reason i say this is because chan is an obviously good match. things would work easily between the two of you. BUT depending on your & lee know's house placements, that could either be the most amazing or most toxic relationship ever (water signs will do that to you). lol so i can't 100% know between the two BUT i'll go with chan as the safer option.

Ascendant in Sag:

you probably come across as someone who is independent and sure of yourself. people see you as being strong and able to communicate effectively with others.
