as much of a fan as i am of arthur falling head over heels for merlin in the lower town during their fight and knowing the entire time while merlin reluctant to admit he actually finds arthur sometimes pleasant to be around until like a year later when he's like "fuck i kinda like him as more than a friend" when he's actually in love with him,,, the alternative has been plaguing my mind recently.

merlin is like "aw man he sucks but destiny is destiny" until like around the poisoned chalice when merlin drinks the wine and falls unconscious and he's wondering to himself why he would do such a thing and like yeah nimueh probably cursed it so he would drink it but also he's not really that upset about it?? he's kinda relieved??? why???????? oh bc arthur didn't drink it so he's fine and alive and oh he's checking up on me and his voice is soft and not at all mocking or brash like normal and his hand is on my shoulder and my heart is racing and i'm blushing and his touch is so warm and- oh fuck. so merlin is like reluctant about feeling this way but makes his peace with it, hoping that one day it'll just fizzle out. but the thing is: it doesn't. merlin continues to fall deeper and deeper in love with arthur and it just becomes a part of him like his magic. it's a simple fact. he has blue eyes, he has black hair, he has magic, he's in love with arthur. it becomes intertwined with his very being and he can't imagine ever not loving arthur.

meanwhile, arthur is fond and protective of him idiotic, bumbling servant. he's also a good friend not that arthur would ever call him that but anyways arthur keeps him safe bc if it weren't for him, the fool would trip over air and impale himself on his own thumb. so arthur grows more fond and protective of merlin as the series progresses and yeah at some point he finds it in himself to murmur the word friend to merlin but he blames that on the wine and the late hour. then he finds out merlin has magic and it hurts. arthur isn't entirely sure why either but he knows it hurts to be around merlin, to hear him, to see him, but it also hurts to be apart. so he swallows it all down and sits with merlin to lay it all out. anyway time skip and he sees merlin as he truly is without all the hiding and lying and the fondness and protectiveness just continues to grow and grow and grow. he watches merlin cast spells and watches his eyes light up gold and gods isn't he just beautiful. no wait- okay he's in love and gods is he fucked because now he can't managed a damn sentence around the man and morning and evenings are torturous in the best way. merlin bodily dragging him out of bed, his touch never leaving as he strips him of his night clothes and dresses him for the day and sits him down at the table before sharing stealing his breakfast. at night he's much slower as he strips arthur, his fingers dragging across his skin and his words spoken low and soft. the sweet heat in his blood isn't new but the force of it almost knocks him on his ass.

just merlin being his usual enamored self while arthur is flooded with these feelings he couldn't name before but now that he knows just what they are, they lodge in his throat and block his words from escaping him, they block air from filling his lungs, and they keep blood from flowing through his brain. arthur shutting down while merlin is oblivious and concerned and pressing his hands to arthur's face and pulse and leaning in close and asking all these questions as his eyes shine with worry and this isn't helping-

disaster!arthur x oblivious!merlin is actually my new favorite dynamic. forget what i said at the beginning. this is it.

Holt’s vision was basically the first thing to go as she became infected with the corruption happening in Sierpinski-23 and it absolutely wrecks me

#I WISH I WAS BETTER AT STORYBOARDING AND DOING COMICS #bc I think about that moment between her and sieben #Holt’s eyes are visibly cloudy and the most she can make out is light/shadow and rough shapes #she can’t make out any of her old lover’s features and relies completely on her voice and touch #Holt can be pretty stubborn/prideful for a eule (the more I think about her she’s probably degraded some but is reliable/quiet enough abt it #but yeah she’s especially stubborn about Sieben. but at that moment she’s also so so scared and in pain #and she’s trying to have good humor she’s trying to be brave for Wanze at least #I think there’s a certain amount of vulnerability she can have with Sieben though due to their history #they both know Holt’s going to die #and so Holt doesn’t mind stopping the act for a second #if it means she can ask Sieben to hold her hand for a bit #and she does. it’s nice for a while.#Sieben doesn’t really want to look at Holt (her face is falling off she’s gross and seeing her like that also makes Sieben want to cry)#there is a lot of bitterness and regret between them and there’s a lot either of them could say #I think abt them and that particular moment A Lot #Wanze also :((((#Sieben only visits her earlier on but Wanze sees Holt as her mind starts to go #it’s hard for both of them. #rwby v9 spoilers #v8 was truly all kinds of good but one of the best because it gave me v8c13/14 #which are simply masterpieces. like... yang sacrificing herself to save ruby and leading to her falling off the platform #IN FRONT OF BLAKE #who just got yang back #so obviously blake does the only thing she thinks of. and launches gambol shroud and MISSES #and then her next step is to try and follow yang because she PROMISED she wasn't leaving her again. and weiss holds her back #and she won't let her go over the edge #then they're back to fighting and blake tries to save ruby. and fails. and they're both falling #and weiss.... WEISS HAS TO WITNESS IT ALL #her friends her FAMILY seemingly fell to their deaths and there was nothing she could do #but it doesn't stop there. because then penny gets mortally wounded and jaune has to mercy kill her #and weiss sees it happening again. she lost so many people #AND ALL OF THIS HAPPENED IN A TWO EPISODE SPAN #AND NOW THEY GOTTA DEAL WITH THE AFTERMATH WHILE IN AN UNKNOWN REALM #AND MOST LIKELY WITHOUT THEIR AURAS #oh team rwby.... what emotional horrors are you going to face next. where is the line going to be drawn #when ruby finally can't take it anymore and snaps and lashes out and they all get a peek at the teenager ruby shouldve been #because she's finally the same age as them when it all started. they didn't get to be teens either #but on god they gotta make sure ruby gets to heal as well #im gonna fucking SCREAM #bumbleby #rwby

I've had an odd nostalgia for the Once Upon a Time series of mediocre short-novel-length fairy tale retellings. I've been wanting to read the retelling of "East of the Sun, West of the Moon" from that line.

The trouble is that there is no such book.

Which makes me want to write it.

Unfortunately, the only straightforward traditional retelling of that fairy tale I want to write doesn't fit with that style.

But thinking about it got me excited about that old idea all over again.

#adventures in writing #why do i get all my best and deepest ideas when in line for confession?#had the above train of thought while waiting #and it brought that story idea back vividly and gave me all sorts of enthusiasm for it #you see there's a strong thread even in the original of christianity vs. paganism #and it could be drawn out to make something very interesting #the heroine is brave and bold and wants to be a saint #recognizes the potential for heroism when she agrees to marry the bear (knows that the old ways hold him under a curse)#but the doubts that her mother introduces are the first time she truly faces fear and she fails #but she insists she can fix everything #and after going around the world and getting help from mysterious women and all four winds #earning treasures and sacrificing them for her husband's sake #she gets the nights alone with him and he won't wake #and she has to face that she *can't* make up for what she did and her best efforts *can't* save him #and finally has to admit that she did an unforgivable wrong #and it's her tears of remorse that finally wake him #(a parallel to the wax that woke him when she betrayed him)#and only *then* does she get the opportunity to wash out the stain (the wax on the shirt) from her sin #and it's not a perfect parallel but there's resonance and it could be lovely #unfortunately i feel like i'd have to do more research on nordic cultures and folklore and i don't really want to do that

Like Hera will just be like "yo I wanna fuck" and he just bats his eyes like "you mean make love" and she has to count to three otherwise she's just gonna whack him, like, bro take off your pants and get on the bed, you got two minutes before the mood changes, you really wanna be pouting about phrasing right now?

(and then his baby mama of the week says "let's make love" and he just "haha no no, it's called fucking when we do it and nothing more, now show me your titties" because "making love" is for Hera only and he will get weirdly enraged if you keep using it after he said to stop)
