Early on, you have to imagine that groupies for the Venatori and Antaam emerge. Fuckwits and nobs who want to get in good with Elderwand and GilmoreGirl, who think it's a mad motherfucking genius idea to hire the Antivan Crows to kill this Rook person. (even better if Rook is a Crow, tbh.)

Viago, quickly exasperated by the number--and abysmal grammar/spelling--of the proposed contracts against Rook, simply stops responding to the missives.

Teia, otoh, collects all of them. She sends the restless fledglings to spy on these would-be clients, who have helpfully identified themselves as enemies of their ally. She and Lucanis draft contracts on those who present an actual threat, Lucanis pays, and Teia herself fulfills those contracts.

Rook never knows. The Crows keep a lid on it.

There's a moment when Lucanis nearly spills it. When, while arguing with Emmrich about the contracts on King Markus, and Rook muses that it's good to be a nobody because no one bothers to put a contract on them, Lucanis almost murmurs, "That you know of..."

For a nobody, Rook is costing him a decent pile of gold.

love what you're doing with the hawkeling and watching a parent get stabbed to keep the family tradition of traumatizing their children. if i might support a belamance in that case because what's worse than seeing the person you're love with brutally maimed? watching their child watch them be brutally maimed.

kind of a central premise of the isabela and hawkeling dynamic here is isabela’s act 3 return to the party where the kid is old enough to be massively pissed off but isabela thinks it’s about how she got their mother hurt when actually it’s about how she’s barely been around for three years of the kid’s life and they’re just scared she’ll vanish again. newsflash isabela dragonage! whether you like it or not people love you

the kid being present for All That is good for this actually, because as you say isabela has to see it AND, for the three years mostly away, she can use that memory to tell herself this is the best thing she is capable of doing for all of them. hawke should find someone else to play happy families with, how could isabela belong anywhere near that kind of life when she’s the snake who put them in danger, what a joke, etc. etc.

what has me by the throat here is isabela, who canonically kind of heartbreakingly doesn’t think anyone would want her around their kids or their domestic life, and who also personally absolutely does not want to be any kind of mother and is super traumatised by having been previously forced into the role of a noble’s wife, with a hawkeling who genuinely just desperately wants her around and every time would choose whatever she can give over someone trying to be the proper second parent they don’t even want

i don't get why so many people say this even if it was apparently confirmed by one of the writers... when were the chantry ever shown helping orphans in-game lol their whole thing was that they hoarded wealth while people starved why would they have a basement full of orphans
