We Kiss in Shadows is VERY much a gothic romance/horror story. Think Phantom of the Opera meets Beauty and the Beast meets Shrek. Combine the elements of disfigurement, beastly form, and a curse from those stories and you have my current WIP. Obviously, Twilight Princess is the perfect backdrop.

It's a story about heartbreak, overcoming fears, and eternal love.

Synopsis:

Zelda thought she’d always have her best friend, Link by her side, until tragedy struck. Ten years after his untimely death, she catches a glimpse of a hauntingly familiar stranger at a garden party announcing her engagement to historical archaeologist, Shad.  

Not long after, Zelda and Shad accompany a group of soldiers traveling to Ordon Village to investigate a sudden rash of livestock disappearances and to study the fabled Spring of Courage. Sensing powerful magic at the Spring, Zelda ventures into the neighboring forest to investigate. When a sudden blizzard falls, she becomes hopelessly lost in the woods. 

There she encounters a lone wolf with one striking blue eye. Running away in fear, she stumbles and falls. She finds herself in the care of a mysterious recluse residing in the ruins of the late Duke of Ordona’s mansion. As the storm rages on, Zelda slowly begins unraveling the truth of his identity and the curse that plagues him.

It's heavy angst (a HUGE departure for me). Will I do it justice and meet the hype? I don't know, but I'm going to try. I'm four chapters into the writing process of what I imagine will be a 10 - 15 chapter story arc.

Y/N Pov

I was impatiently waiting for my girlfriend to be home, she was coming homes after The kiss of Death your. You know the one with In This Moment and Ice Nine Kills. I wish I could have gone with Ash, but I had work to do here in Cali; I missed Ash a shit ton, ofc we FaceTimed and texted each other, but it wasn't the same as holding her in my arms.

I sighed as I laid down in our bed, scrolling through my Instagram feed as I saw pictures of Ash. I smiled, then I heard the keys jingling in the door. I instantly got up and ran to the door and immediately met with my ghoul. I smiled at her gorgeous figure, but I knew that something was off about her.

Then I saw her tear stained face; I frowned and pulled Ash into a hug and kissed her head gently. "Baby.. what's wrong?" I saw Ash shake her head and quickly say "nothing" she pulled out of the hug and walked towards our room and sat down and started crying again.

I followed her, worried that something serious was bothering her. I sat down next to her and pulled her into my arms and wiped her tears away and kissed her head. "What's bothering you my love" I saw Ash look up and say "I missed you and I just thought that you wouldn't wanna see me again"

I shook my head in disbelief and said "I missed you so much more Ash and ofc I would have wanted to see you again. I missed kissing you and seeing you with your messy hair and I missed cuddling you everyday. I missed watching horror movies with you and doing everything with you"

I saw Ash wipe her tears and look at me "I missed that so much Y/N I missed you so much" I smiled and kissed her head, once again and said "now how about we watch Halloween and cuddle?" I saw Ash's beautiful smile poke out and I heard her say "YESSS" I laughed at her excitement and brought her into my arms and cuddle her for the rest of the night <33

Anonymous, thank you so much for asking about my latest WIP I'm super-duper excited to write!

I love gothic romances, and am a real sucker for stories like Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast, Secret Garden, and Jekyll and Hyde. My favorite book is Jane Eyre. I've read it at least a dozen times. My heart has a soft spot for moody, misunderstood leading men looking to be loved (except for Edward Cullen - no thanks...)

This is my take on those with a little Ladyhawke thrown in for good measure. Don't know what Ladyhawke is? In that case, Fiona from Shrek...

This is also my first story utilizing the trope of all tropes - the love triangle.
