Dating Pedri González Would Include...
Tumblr media
Dating this guy is being in a roller coaster, in a good way
You met him on a clothing shop, casually walking with your girl friend when he walked behind you and tripped causing him to step on your back heel pulling your shoe out.
"Puta madre, joder, I'm so sorry"
"...They were white"
"I'll buy you new ones"
"Nah, don't worry. I'll just give them a wash and all good"
The moment you smiled at him and not yelled at his face for his mistake, he fell for you.
You knew who he was but you also knew he was just another normal human being who was really good playing your favorite sport and outside the pitch he was just Pedro.
But still commented he should always be careful, look around and not only on the pitch with a smile on
"You know me?" He asked as you laughed lightly
"But you're also funny" You laughed "Kind of forgot who you are?" He shook his head still amazed by you
"Pedro González" He shyly said as you smiled
"Y/N Y/L/N" And with that you left
He searched up for you everywhere.
TikTok, Twitter, Instagram... You name it, he searched for you and he found you.
@ pedri asked to follow you
You smiled and accepted him
And ever since that day, he texted you daily, he found ways to connect with you, a friendship was born and later on, your relationship.
The amount of love this man has for you it's not countable.
He often uses Lightyear's phrase when you ask him how much he loves you: To the infinity and beyond
He's just deeply in love with you.
Talked about you to his parents.
And when you finally met them they instantly loved you. Rosy was happy she got you as the daughter she never had. And Fernando was happy his son was happy and in good hands.
Going to his matches with the 8 on your back, supporting him.
Having inside home dates and them being the best ones ever.
He L-O-V-E-S spoiling you.
He would gift you a bracelette with P.G8 in your three months anniversary, since that day you've never taken it off.
You on the other hand give him a black bracelette too with your initial and a football ball. He only takes it off when he plays.
Your parents love him and he loves them.
Whlist driving he would definitely have his hands with yours or on your thigh
Singing at the top of your lungs while he drives. Also being the DJ, often playing Quevedo, Rosalía and Taylor Swift
Car rides towards nowhere, just driving the two of you during midnight for late night McDonald's or the ones where you go to the beach or a little 2 days vacation.
Talking about driving.
He would and would not like to teach you how to drive.
He would because you look absolutely gorgeous in, with and doing everything. And he also would want you to drive him around sometimes. And he wouldn't because he loves driving you around and also he's afraid for the three of your lives. Your, his and his cars.
Either way, after lots of begging, he would accept.
Teaching you should be both a really good and bad memory together, laughing, spending good time with each other and at the same time he's shitting himself for both of your lives
"LOOK AT THE ROAD!" "I'M LOOKING!"
Fights like every other couple, but you both eventually calm down for a while and fix the problem.
He can get jealous, if he's feeling intimidated. Quickly showing everyone, who you belonged to. But he trusts you with his life.
You trust him too, but get jealous as well and mostly when there are some girls who ignore your existence and just shamessly flirt with him.
You can't believe their audacity.
You also know he doesn't have eyes for any other girl but you. He has let you know that and doesn't mind reminding you who he belongs to sometimes.
With sweet words, acts and you know...
He lives for making you happy.
"Pap-I mean... Pepi"
"Y/N"
You are best friends and lovers at the same time.
Everyone loves your relationship.
INSIDE JOKES
You could be out with the team or family
When Fer (mostly) says something and it reminds you both to something, expect you both crying in laughter and face fully red not being able to explain yourselves.
Fer hates when that happens but secretly he loves the fact his brother found his person.
His hand is in yours all the time.
He just loves grabbing your hand in his. Playing with your fingers calms him down.
Meanwhile you, play with his ring to calm yourself down.
You also love leaning into his chest, it's just so big, perfect and strong that you wanna lay there for the rest of your lives.
He would try and help you with homework but the second he saw the amount of calculations, laws and unknown words he got up.
"You get into it, I'll make you some food amd cheer for you"
He would share his food with you, surprising everyone in his house. Especially Fer
You looked at his plate and pocked his bicep a few times making him look at you "¿Qué pasa?" "Your chips look better than mine, can I have one?" He smiled kissing you softly "Las que quieras, bonita" He grabbed two "Venga, here comes the airplane"
When Fer tried it wasn't the same result tho
"Heyheyhey, what do you think you're doing?" "Grabbing a chip?" "No"
You would be the type of private but not secret couple.
Definitely being seen around sometimes, mostly in his car.
But no one knew your private life since all of your social medias were private.
His true fans, love you and love the fact you make their golden boy happy.
The guys teasing him as they see Pedri being whipped.
But they were happy for him that he found you.
He's happy that he found you. And he wants to have you by his side forever.
And you want him forever too.
Who knew a stranger in a clothing shop who pulled your shoe out would end up being the love of your life?
Expect a relationship full of love, laughs and joy.
So, like I said in the beggining. Dating Pedri is to put roller coaster mode on, in the best way possible.

Hiii!!! What type of music do you think that ren, strade and lawrence would listen to??
ahhh that's a fun question!
ren 🦊
in short: girl music lol
he loves idol groups, j-pop and k-pop. the more cute girls the better!
he also loves vocaloid. miku is his favourite because he's a basic
he's also not at all above a taylor swift, a mitski, a girl in red, a caroline polachek. sad girls singing about their sad lives. he relates to that
when he's feeling especially angsty he might dip into sad boy emo music, but not often.
you know his ass listened to preacher's daughter by ethel cain and he cried for like three days about it. me too, buddy
law 🥀
law isn't so much a music listener as they are a sound listener
a lot of white and brown noise.
they tune their radio between channels and listen to the fuzz to go to sleep
when they do listen to music, it's either like. aggressive harsh noise or really delicate instrumental music. very little vocals, just something occupy their thoughts
they could be convinced by death grips, machine girl, harsh noise made by trans women
it has to be like a brutal assault on the senses for law to be into it though
strade 🔨
dad rock lmao
like he's kind of an old school 80s metal head. metallica, iron maiden, dio, he's all about that shit
sings along super embarrassingly to metal in the car or when he's working.
he gets super involved, drum solos on the steering wheel, headbanging, all of that
has a similar fondness for cringey american rock and country music. anything that gets him in the groove he's into
he's also maintained a fondness for german rock, techno, industrial from his berlin party boy phase but he doesn't keep that up to date with it
he's got a rammstein shirt in his closet. i see this in my mind's eye

could you write reader introducing Steve to Taylor Swift (let's pretends she exists in the 80s) and him loving her and being a huge swiftie
Mine
Tumblr media
Pairing: Steve Harrington x FemReader
Warnings: fluff, language, cliches
Summary: Taylor Swift is a big musical artist in the 80s and you’re a huge fan. In the midst of your excitement about her new album you introduce Steve to her and her music. He ends up loving her too. Steve Harrington would for sure be a swiftie boyfriend.
word count: 2,542
Masterlist
Tumblr media
It took all week to convince Steve to drive you to the record store. Ever since the mall had burned down the closest music shop was a town over. Forty minutes away to be exact. Sometimes Melvalds would get a few things in so people didn’t have to travel so far but you knew they wouldn’t have Taylor Swifts newest album. It was going to be on shelves this Friday so that meant begging Steve all week to drive you since you didn’t have your own car. He had finally caved, asking off of his shift at Family Video, just so he could drive you to the music store. You always could get him to cave.
“I don’t get what’s the big deal about this chick” Steve muttered, hands gripping the steering wheel, his Foreigner cassette staticky on the radio.
“First of all she’s not a chick, and second of all she’s amazing. How have you not heard any of her songs? you accused, turning in the passenger seat to face him better. You had been jittery all day about getting the new album, you had saved all your tips from work for months.
“I don’t know Y/N. I don’t really have time for new music” you rolled your eyes, turning back to sit forward in your seat.
“Yeah, I know. that’s why you’re Foreigner cassette skips, because you never take it out” and then you were reaching a long finger to press eject, silencing the album that everyone knew inside and out because Steve always had it on.
“Hey, I like that song” he pouted like a child but you could only laugh, shoving the cassette back in its case that had literally collected dust from how long it had been empty. Once returned safely in the center counsel you were digging through your bag, looking for the correct tape.
“This is the album we’re picking up today” you informed him, slipping the cassette out and shoving it in his stereo.
“You already have it?! Then why the hell am I driving almost an hour away?” he looked at you with wide eyes, annoyance painting his features.
“She released her version of the album, her first six albums she lost ownership of to her shitty record label. Yet she still owns the rights to the songs since she wrote them all herself. She’s reclaiming what’s hers and making it better all while releasing songs she wasn’t able to put in the album the first time around. She’s bad ass” you explained, adjusting the radio before pressing play. “Just listen”
Steve was still shaking his head when the melody of Mine began to play over the radio. At the sounds of Taylor’s voice, you relaxed back in your seat, excited to hear the latest version of this song. A song you had loved since you were a kid and now it got to be Taylor’s again. Once the lyrics started you closed your eyes, singing along with the lyrics that you wished could be true about the guy beside you. Steve had always been in your life, a dormant best friend, just an accessory to the grand life he had lived throughout highschool, and you were desperatley, irrevocable, in love with him. Always had been. Unbeknownst to you Steve could only glance over as you sang to the lyrics, unaware of his stare and admiration because it had always been you. Always been his.
Do you remember, we were sittin' there by the water?
You put your arm around me for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine
"Gosh, you just know she knows what real love feels like. It's like all the feelings I can't describe she has been able to put into words and write a song about it" you spoke, eyes opening to look at Steve and see he was already looking at you. Slowly his head turned back to the road, a soft smile on his face.
"I can agree, she's very clever with her writing. The song is good too" you chuckled lightly, hand falling to squeeze Steve’s that laid leisurely on the center console.
"It's just us, always has been. If you want to enjoy her music I would be happy to help" Steve chuckled but squeezed your hand back, comforted by the thought he would always have you when no one in his life had ever been constant. Slowly the song switched over to Sparks Fly and you had forgotten about your hand in Steve's, a part of you wanting to keep it there forever.
Close enough to touch
Close enough to hope you couldn't see
What I was thinking of
Drop everything now
Meet me in the pouring rain
Kiss me on the sidewalk
Take away the pain
'Cause I see sparks fly, whenever you smile
As you listened to the lyrics you suddenly became aware of your hold on him, nerves tingly through your body. You were terrfied he could feel it, the love you had for him, pouring out and covering his skin. He was so warm, perfect, and you'd never risk losing him because of some stupid feelings you had. Your whole life you longed for him while he dated everyone in Hawkins but you. That wouldn’t change now, especially in his car listening to some love sick Taylor Swift song. "This one is better than the last"
"Keep listening" you told him with a grin, slipping your hand out of his own, hopefully not to noticeably. You were afraid with how hot and burning your love for him was you'd sear it on his skin. Steve was always your Steve but he had never really been yours and that would hurt forever. Quickly you distracted yourself with excitement over the next song, turning to Steve.
"This is Back to December, her only apology song ever to her ex boyfriend. She broke his heart and wrote this. They’re really good friends now but it's still so sad to hear the feelings she went through at the time" you informed him, hand reaching to turn it up more. Steve chuckled and turned to you with confused eyes.
"This is public knowledge?" he curiously asked and you nodded feverishly, excitement of finally getting to share these facts with your bestfriend.
"Oh my gosh yes, I've been reading this stuff in magazine itnerviews for years and all of her boyfriends have been out there for the media to see. She also hides hidden clues everywhere for us to figure stuff out. She puts so much into her work, it’s not just songs. Now listen!" you told him, shaking his arm before turning to the road again.
So this is me swallowin' my pride
Standin' in front of you sayin' I'm sorry for that night
And I go back to December all the time
It turns out freedom ain't nothin' but missin' you
Wishin' I'd realized what I had when you were mine
I'd go back to December, turn around and make it alright
I go back to December all the time
"Woah" Steve uttered, the passion behind the lyrics shocking. Steve's breakup with Nancy was the worst heart break of his life. He had never dared getting close enough to a girl since. He knew they both had faults for their break up but he knew if he heard Nancy singing these words back to him he knew a part of him would be comforted, it would fully heal that wound, and he would be able to move on and grow again.
"Amazing" you hummed back, closing your eyes and getting lost in the music again. You and Steve had listened through the rest of the album quietly, him only reacting to parts of the songs where needed. Dear John had left him in shock which only caused you to giggle and urge him to keep listening. Just before you had pulled into your destination, Better Than Revenge came on which had been Steve's favorite. He practically gasped when he heard the lyrics 'She's an actress, she's better known for the things that she does on the mattress, whoa'. You laughed at his reaction, heart warming over the fact he was starting to like Taylor Swift and understanding why you loved her music so much. For the first time the entire trip he seemed happy to have come all this way for a music store.
Steve admired the way your hair swept over your shoulders in excitmenet as you turned your head, searching the building for the latest album. His heart stuttered the minute your eyes widened, them sparkling as you spotted a designated table for the new album. You wasted no time scooping up both the casette and record, clearly needing both, and not feeling guilty at all about spending your tip money on it. Who needed a car, right? Steve realized right then and there that even if Taylor Swift was a shit singer he would’ve loved her for you, because you made everything better, including him. God he loved you and he wished he could tell you, but losing you wasn't an otpion. If things got weird he would never ever forgive himself.
"Should I get a new Foreigner tape while I'm here?" he teased and you rolled your eyes, gripping his arm as you moved to the counter to pay. Steve loved how kind you were to the cashier who clearly was very uninterested in his job. For a moment Steve wondered if this is what he looked like at Family Video.
"Please save me from you ruining Foreigner forever because you overplay them. I still like their music so we need to find you something new" You told him as you gave a soft pat to his chest to which he just shook his head and you grabbed your bag from the cashier. Both of you started to the the car and you were barely sitting before you were ripping the plastic off the casette. Steve watched as you carefully removed your tape before putting in the new one, placing it securely in the case, clearly taking care of your things because you appreciated them.
"I'm on the edge of my seat here" Steve teased and you lightly punched his arm, adjusting your postion in your seat.
"Silence Steve, the whole ride home" you told him with a poitned finger and he held his hands up in surrender as he pushed the car into drive and took back off in the direction of home. You pressed play and Mine filled the speakers again but this time you sat quietly, not singing along, because you wanted to hear it all. Steve wished he could kiss you for that.
Steve had kept his world, stayed silent the entirety of the ride so you could appreciate your new album which he had actually been enjoying too. Taylor Swift was growing on him, a lot. He had found himself accidentally humming along which you had noticed and it instantly made butterflies erupt in your stomach. Who would have thought loving Taylor Swift would look so good on a man? By the time Better Than Revenge came on, the familiar 'Now go stand in the corner and think about what you did' buzzing through the speakers, Steve was trying to sing along, messing up the words here and there.
She's an actress, woah
He was a moth to the flame
She was holding the matches, woah
Your eyes sprung open, looking to Steve with a shocked face as you both began to yell. In disbelief she had changed the lyrics, the most bad ass line of the song, and she had changed it to something so simple. Your hands frantically reached out to pause the tape before turning and looking at Steve with shock. "She did not?"
"She did!" you exclaimed, unsure of what to think about the lyric change. In a sense the original line had been mean but that was what made it so good. You guess Taylor was just growing up, her feelings about an album she made more than ten years ago obviously couldn't still be the same.
"Can I come over and listen to the rest of the album with you?" Steve found himself asking and you blushed profusely before nodding, excited to have someone to share this with finally.
That was how you and Steve found yourselves laying on your bed, listening to the record spin in your room, absorbing each song, and discussing your thoughts after each side of the record was finished. Some songs had brought you to your feet to dance, singing into fake microphones with each other, Steve spinning you so closely to his body you felt like you were on fire. Finally you had reached the tape with the vault tracks which you explained in grave detail to Steve so he could comprehend these were never before heard songs until now. Placing the arm on the record you rushed to the bed, hopping beside Steve as the music began to play, squeezing his hand in excitement.
All I know is this could either break my heart or bring it back to life
Got a feelin' your electric touch could fill this ghost town up with life
And I want you now, wanna need you forever
In the heat of your electric touch, mmm
You sucked in a sharp breath at the words, hand still in Steve’s hold. This time you didn’t feel like pulling away. You wanted him to feel it, the electric, the invisible string tying you to him. You kept your hand there the whole song, and once it ended you waited, heart pounding in your ears. The suddenly Steve was sitting up, and leaning over you, and you were pretty sure you were gonna pass out.
“You know how you were saying Taylor had found a way to describe what you were feeling and put it into a song?” you nodded, nerve endings on fire as he hovered over you. “This song, is how I feel about you”
“What?” this time Steve was nodding, and you were pretty sure you were dreaming.
“I get it if you don’t feel the same” Steve started to pull back but you grabbed him, making sure he stayed in place.
“Of course I feel the same, God I’ve loved you since middle school” you told him and he chuckled, fingers curling into your own.
“You are the best thing, that’s ever been mine” Steve whispered before leaning down. Your breath hitched but you recovered the moment his lips met yours, slotting together like puzzle pieces. He tasted like cherries and your hand that wasn’t locked in his own found its way to his head, fingers dragging through his hair. It was surreal to be kissed by Steve Harrington on your bed, only a dream until now. Yet here he was, warm body pressed to your own, the electricity sending your nerve endings on fire.
That was when you realized nothing could be better than falling in love with Steve listening to the lyrics of a Taylor Swift song.
Tumblr media
a/n: this was short, sweet, and adorable. for a moment I thought I had accidentally deleted it so now I appreciate it even more. in the spirit of coincidences when I chose Foreigner to be Steves choice in band it was totally just the first 80s band to pop in my head and not even an hour after I finished writing this I was invited to go to a Foreigner concert this Friday. absolutely insane. also I went with Speak Now TV for this considering that is what’s popular right now and it felt right for the vibe of the story. I hope you enjoyed it all nonetheless 💜

Ettie, my Love <3 You already know what's coming :3
Soft Richie yet again :3 So think about that scene in the car when he was singing Taylor Swift’s song... Now imagine if he picked up that habit of showing up super early and doing something in the restaurant to keep himself grounded (I think about those goddamn forks, because they would remind him of the place when he realized what he's good at and what he enjoys the most). Now imagine him mindlessly singing either Taylor's songs or some other star his daughter is obsessed with.
And now imagine the chef!reader coming in early to see him performing full of choreography with forks as microphone <3
Love, G.
AAJADUIEOWIWKW 😭
——
If there was one thing you expected to see first thing in the morning at the Beef, it certainly wasn’t Richie singing the chorus of “Love Song” in falsetto.
Before you could even get to your locker, you were arrested by the image of him lost in his little performance, using one of the forks he was prepping as a microphone to sing to an invisible audience.
You liked watching him in the zone, free for once from every day stress. He was uninhibited in a way you rarely ever saw him, and you couldn’t help but feel your heart flutter giddily. And even if his singing wasn’t great, it was heartfelt, and that’s what mattered.
When he was done, panting a little from the exertion, you clapped. The sudden sound startled him, causing him to drop the fork, which rattled loudly on the ceramic floor.
He turned beet red at the sight of you clapping like a fan girl, smiling wide. He cursed under his breath.
“One more song?” You asked hopefully, half-teasing.
“Hell no, you already got enough of a show,” he grunted, avoiding eye contact as he picked up the fork.
“What? But that was amazing, Richie!” You said, wanting to keep pushing his buttons. “Ugh, I should start a fan club, really. The Jerimo-bitches. How’d ya like the sound of that?”
He couldn’t help but laugh at that, rolling his eyes at you. “Fuck off! That was terrible!”
You laughed as well, making your way to your locker and swapping out your shoes. “You’re lucky it was me and not Fak, actually!”
“Yeah, well, I’m still never gonna hear the end of it.”
“Just you wait ‘til Tina gets here, superstar. We’ll make you serenade us.”

Taylor Swift Albums As Aru Shah Characters (or vice-versa) (???)
Debut: Hira. She's young, seemingly innocent, but she's definitely experienced more than her fair share of heartbreaks and sadness. While singing along to Tim McGraw, Our Song, or Picture To Burn, she draws on those first few moments when she met Brynne. The country style and easy patterns soothe her- she definitely loves Shania Twain, too.
Fearless TV: Kara. Needless to say, most everything she's done to get to this point has required her to be fearless. She is all forbidden destinies and regrets, crying and hoping and crying some more. She'd definitely scream along to Fearless, and You Belong With Me, and sometimes with the Sleeper she'd hum Fifteen and Love Story- just for the feeling of a normal childhood.
Speak Now TV: Rudy. He only picked this because he saw the fabulous purple album cover and thought of dark benevolent queen. He thinks of the first time he met Mini when he listens to Enchanted, because he's sure the whole world is in love with death's daughter. He recreates the intricate sounds of Better Than Revenge, Speak Now, and Sparks Fly with his stones, soon getting his own recording studio to record his instrumental covers of them. And of course, Mean empowers him to brush past all the idiots who made fun of him being colorblind and a failure- cause they're pathetic and alone in life and mean.
Red TV: Malini. Do I even need to explain? Throughout the separation and divorce with Aiden's dad, she definitely listened to All To Well (Ten Minute Version) on repeat, nostalgically played 22 for Aiden, and finally, when she got a girl's night out, played We Are Never Getting Back Together. The heartbreak and cheating in Red highlights all her relationship troubles and how she comes out of them stronger in the end.
1989: Brynne. It's her workout music all the way. And life music too. She does HIIT sessions to Shake It Off and New Romantics, and dances to Out Of The Woods with Hira when it's late and they can't sleep. The feeling of reinvention and starting anew really draws her to the album- and who can blame her? (Plus, she was totally jamming to Rudy's TSwift battle music in SoD)
Reputation: Aru. She struggles with her legacy, her reputation, throughout the series. The thrumming beats and quick mood shifts of ...Ready For It? stimulate her ever-speeding mind and she loves making fun of Aiden with Gorgeous, the entire song a huge excuse to outright flirt with him. Getaway Car is her and Rudy's go-to car song when they drive alone, and there are days when Aiden finds her crying to Dress and Delicate in the shower. During and after the final battle, Don't Blame Me and I Did Something Bad were the only things she could hear in her ears- they were deafening, and a way of her brain guilting and processing all the events.
Lover: Aiden. I immediately knew this was his. He's surrounded by love, constantly, despite being afraid of it, calling upon Death By A Thousand Cuts. With his mom he softly sings Soon You'll Get Better and with Brynne and Mini they karaoke It's Nice To Have A Friend. His dad gets a very blurry video of Aiden and Bee one year in Father's Day in pink cowboy boots singing I Forgot That You Existed and his father never texts back. Ever the feminist and bisexual icon, he's out here bopping to The Man and You Need To Calm Down. He makes fun of Aru liking I Think He Knows, but that's nothing compared to his 2 am serenades of Lover. His favorites, though, are Paper Rings and ME!
Folklore: Mini. The med student of Epiphany. The calm, the quiet, the casual anxious spirals. Yearning at desperate when she hears Invisible String, Rudy cries when she sings it. Her mom hates Exile, but Mini hears it and thinks of all the ways she could fail and cries to it some nights. Seven reminds her of running around in a field of sunflowers as a little kid, not a care in the world, forgetting allergies, grades, or Pandava stuff. August is her back to school calling, a reminder of responsibilities and how they're not always bad. Cardigan is her pick me up when she's missing Rudy- not that he's ever too far.
Evermore: Suyodhana. Willow. He can't love the way he wants to, he can't say yes without worrying about everything- he is Champagne Problems. Forbidden, murderous, No Body, No Crime was made for him.
Midnights: Krithika. The definition of Anti-Hero. A lot of the series wouldn't exist without her causing more and more problems, despite being well-intentioned, she keeps messing up, and finally in NoI she starts owning up. Her glittering confidence in the early books beckon to Bejeweled and her ever-sermonizing self would scream Karma at the top of her lungs. Question...? would remind her of everything she left in the lamp, Suyodhana, Aru's chance at a father- the love of her life.

🎶 musical artist - favorite band/artist growing up
This is a really hard question for me to answer, but I’ll try. Sorry for the long answer, but music is a bit of a hyper focus of mine.
My Dad loves classic rock and my mum loves 80s hair bands and Billy Joel. Piano Man forever holds a special place in my heart, and so do Tom Petty, Bob Seger, and Journey. My aunt gave me a harmonica for my 5th birthday because I would not stop singing Tom Petty songs. That was the first instrument I learned to play.
She is also the one who played her Beatles 45s for me, and led to my love of them. I lost her when I was 16, but I still have those memories and songs. Here Comes The Sun is my “Vecna song”, and why my daughter is named Abbey. After Abbey Road.
I was the kid listening to hand me down cassette tapes on my bright yellow Walkman. Previously stated artists, along with: Elton John, Eric Clapton, and The Beach Boys (my aunt also loved them).
When I was 13, I fell in love with Something Corporate after hearing Leaving Through The Window. Hurricane, Punk Rock Princess, I Woke Up In A Car. I adore these songs. Andrew is a treasure, and I am so glad he survived what he has. His story really resonates with me, and I could talk about it endlessly. They were one of my first concerts. My love for them extended to Jack’s Mannequin. Everything in Transit is easily one of my favorite albums of all time. My Dog is named Delaney because of Miss Delaney. I went and saw Andrew last July in Orlando. He’s why I learned to play piano.
Through my husband (and high school boyfriend) I developed an appreciation for Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab, and Fall Out Boy. ITS TO JIMMY EAT WORLD AND THOSE NIGHTS IN MY CAR (anyone who knows what this is from let’s be friends). I Will Follow You Into The Dark is a favorite song as well. There are also songs from being in band that will remain in my head rent free. I played flute. My husband was a snare on the drum line. Alexa, play Crank That (Soulja Boy).
In 2006, I was 18 and a senior in high school. A girl from Reading, Pennsylvania released her debut album. That album helped me through SOME SHIT. I have loved Taylor Swift ever since. I feel like I’ve grown up with her. My husband took me to The ERAS tour in April 2023, for our Anniversary/My Birthday. Highlight of my life. I got to hear You’re On Your Own, Kid the very first time she played it live. I’m a sucker for track 5s. I could discuss her ad nauseam.
That pretty much covers the music I loved growing up! Thank you! Sorry for the long ask answer!

With Sienna Bradshaw's eighth birthday right around the corner and Bradley getting a call to Top Gun again. The three musketeers would be together for a while. Since her sister’s death, Lucy knew how much it meant for her niece to have a family so she tried to make everything as smooth as possible. Even if that meant moving to a house closer to the base so father and daughter could be together.
People around the town talked about her and Bradley’s relationship. People talked about how difficult must be for a widowed man and his sister-in-law to decide to raise their long-lost older sister. And how inconvenient their family was. But they weren’t alone, Lucy’s family was always there for them and they were thankful for that. Especially Bradley since he came from having no one to have the biggest family that he ever imagined.
Today Bradley was coming back and his daughter wanted to pick him up. And Lucy couldn’t say no to her niece. So early on a Saturday, they had breakfast and got dressed to pick up her annoying best friend from the airport. The day before she and Sienna prepared a list of things to do when her dad came back. Even Lucy’s mom prepared food for them so they didn’t need to worry about cooking that weekend.
“Sienna, honey” Lucy called her nice “Can you fetch me your bag? I need the books we borrowed from the library. We need to return them today before going for your dad at the airport.” She heard Sienna’s footsteps coming down the stairs with the backpack on her hands and messy hair all over her face.
“Oh Bumblebee” Lucy picked her up and sat her in an aisle chair.”What hairstyle would you like today, my princess”
“Two pigtails, please,” Sienna answered enthusiastically. While Lucy did her hair, the blonde girl played with the plane toys her father bought for her. One of those was a mini version of an F-14 jet. “Tia, can we bring Daddy some of the cookies we made yesterday?” Sienna turned to Lucy with pleading eyes.
“Alright” Lucy accepts surrender “But only a few, because your dad loves to eat everything” Sienna laughs at her aunt's joke while Lucy finishes her nice hairstyle "Okay, your hair is finished. Now I want you to put these books inside your bag while I go for mine. Got it, Bee?” Sienna nods and gives Lucy a thumbs up.
When Lucy comes back from her bedroom she finds Sienna waiting at the door with a cookie bag in her hand. She gets on one knee to take the cookies and put them inside Sienna’s bag.
“That’s better” she smiled before standing up “Now let’s get going, Bee.”
The journey to the Library was one of their favorite things to do. They listen to music and sing along, from Disney to Bluey to some Taylor Swift, especially “Love Story”. And Sienna always reminds her, to Lucy’s dismay, to play her dad’s favorite “Great Balls of Fire”.
They arrive at North Island’s library and get out of the car. This was her’s and Sienna’s tradition for every Saturday. Get breakfast and start the day by going to the library. And Lucy loved this more than anything, even if it had been a real challenge helping her best friend and his child. She enjoyed being able to take part in the life of someone like Sienna. This little girl had saved her life in more ways than she could have imagined, and she would do anything to keep her safe from this big world.
Inside the library, they’re greeted by Nora the librarian. Nora has known Lucy since she and her family moved to Miramar. She knew almost everything about her and was one of the few who knew Sienna’s mom's real story. “Hi, girls. Finish your books already?” Nora asks cheerfully
“Yes! My favorite was the one with the secret Garden” Sienna answered happily. “I've finished it and another book all by myself.” Nora made an amused sound about the news and gave her a high five.
“Yep, so we are going to take it again with us so Bradley can listen to her reading,” Lucia says while putting the books in the return cart and giving Nora the “Secret Garden” book “Can you check it again for us?” Lucy ask Nora, who answered with a nod “We’re going to look for our weekly batch”
Sienna decided to go to the kid’s section while Lucy went to the classic section straight to where Jane Austen’s books can be found. Right on the top of the shelf, she found the one she was looking for. It was an old version of Pride and Prejudice that Lucy has read since she was a teenager. When she went to take it, another hand interrupted her way. Turning to see the person that didn’t let her take the book. She’s greeted by a pair of blue and shy eyes behind some Birth control glasses, a shy smile, and the most handsome man she ever met.
“I believe this is the one you were going for. Right?” The blonde haired man asks quietly before he starts to ramble “I just, I saw you were trying to grab it but you couldn't make it to the top. So I thought it was a good idea to help you. '' he looked at her eyes ``Please don’t think I’m a freak” he finished while handing her the book.
Lucy was so endeared by his shy manner of him that she just started laughing “I never thought that” she takes the book from his hands shyly “And yes, this was the one I was going for”
“ It’s a great book,” He says quickly, hoping to not scare her off. He had never seen such beauty in his life. And the smile she gave him after he said that, he felt like he was going to faint “I read it when I was in college. Jane Austen is an awesome author. She knew how to tell a story and make her characters grow.”
“I know, right? It’s one of my favorites” she said enthusiastically. The man in front of her smiled and opened his mouth to speak before being interrupted by a small “Tia” coming from behind her.
Lucy turned around and Sienna was looking at her with a smile on her face and arms full of books “ Bee, darling. Why do you have so many books?” Lucy asked while kneeling on her level. “You know we only take three or four per week” When she finished the sentence she heard a small whining coming from the child.
“Fine,” Sienna said with a pound “I’m going to take back the ones I don’t want to read right now” She places the books on the floor and takes three of them to hand them to Lucy “I’ll be back in a minute” she used her serious voice like she was on a mission. The one she always uses to hide her deception.
Lucy smiled with fondness at her niece before remembering there was a handsome stranger behind her. She quickly stood up.
“My niece is a little bookworm just like me” she chuckled feeling embarrassed.
“I don’t think there is something wrong with that.” He smiled at her and realized he’s been staring at her too much. “I mean, I’m one too if you haven't figured it out. Pretty sure the glasses give me away" A little laugh escaped from his lips.
"That, and your choice of books." Lucy raises the one in her hands and looks at the other in his hand. One with Miramar's history and another of the Treasure Island "Or maybe, it's your way to get a date." she jokes, gaining a chuckle from the man.
"Oh no, ma’am. I ain't that type of guy." The sudden southern accent from him caught Lucy by surprise. Before she could ask him for what reason he was there, Sienna came back. The little girl had her round cheeks flushed as if she had just run a marathon.
"Tia, I'm ready. Can we go now?" She asked to take her hand to try to move Lucy with her.
“Hold on one minute, little missy” Lucy stopped Sienna and kneel before her “Your father will be here in 2 hours. What's with the rush?” When her niece was about to answer, a little voice spoke, startling them.
“Excuse me,” The adults present look at the child who is just talking. A red-haired boy with glasses twice the size of his head. Lucy recognized the kid, he was in the other first-grade class, with Ms. Peterson and a teammate of Sienna’s soccer team. ”I think you forgot your bag, Sienna.” The mentioned girl hid behind her aunt and stared at her like asking for help.
“Thank you, darling.” Lucy replied to her niece while taking the bag “You’re in Ms. Peterson's class, right?”
“Yes!” He replied quickly before taking a look at Lucy to open his eyes like he just recognized her.“You're Ms. Orozco, right? I’m Marcus O’Malley. My little brother goes to your classroom.” he genuinely smiled, happy to share that information.
“That's right, I´m Georgie’s teacher.” Lucy smiled at the kid and stood up to extend her hand to him “It's a pleasure meeting you, Marcus.” The little kid shook her hand excitedly when an older woman called after him.
The kid got called by his parents, who, when they saw Lucy they greeted her with a wave
“I need to go,” the boy said when he saw his parents. Then he turned towards the girl“ Would you like to play with me tomorrow? ” he asked and Sienna just answered with a nod. “Great! See you tomorrow at school, Siena. You too, Ms, Orozco” Marcus turned and said goodbye quickly and left.
Lucia was in shock, her niece was shy and red as a tomato. Before she could say anything to the girl, the man decided to talk. Remembering Lucy of his presence.
“So, you’re a teacher? That's… That´s a beautiful profession.” the blond man says when she turns to face him. Darcy just smiled at him embarrassed, without knowing what to say.
“She’s one of the best teachers in Miramar’s elementary school” Sienna interrupted cheerfully, gaining the man's attention.
This gave Lucy a wake-up call. She realized that her niece just gave personal information to a total stranger. And that they really shouldn’t be doing this, especially her. She is the grown-up in charge of her niece. A pretty face it’s not worth their security.
Immediately, Lucy turns to her niece and asks her to give her books to Nora so they can go and hand her library card. When she gets her attention back to the man in front of her. Lucy’s heart almost melted when she saw the soft look he was giving her. But she shook it off since he was a stranger and her niece always came first.
“I love to keep chatting. But we need to go,” she said with an apologetic smile “We have to finish some stuff.” Lucy lets out an awkward chuckle, hoping the man in front of her doesn’t realize what she’s trying to do.
“It’s okay, ma’am. I won’t entertain you any longer, sorry” he smiled genuinely at her before making her a sign to wait for a second. He quickly took one of the books in his hand and extended for Lucy to take it “A little recommendation from bookworm to bookworm” Lucy took it carefully like it was made of crystal.
“I’ll give it a try” Lucy replied softly “Thank you, library savior.” She smiled one last time and turned to where her niece had gone. Walking she sent a last glance at where the handsome man was. He was still but just moving backward until he was stopped by the bookshelf making him almost drop his books and turn red ashamed. Lucy let out a little giggle and kept going. With a copy of The Treasure Island in her hands, even if she already had read it.

Walking out of the building to their car, Lucy turned at her niece and smiled mischievously.
"So… Marcus, huh?" Lucy starts the conversation.” He seems nice.”
"So… the man in the library, huh?" Sienna counterattacks, shocking her aunt.”Anything you wanna share?”
"Don’t try to avoid the question with another question” Lucy replied, opening the back door and helping her niece to get in the car seat.
“I’m just stating the facts,” Sienna said while hopping in.
Lucy laughed, definitely Sienna was Miel's daughter. Too smart for her good. She secured Sienna's seat belt, closed the door, walked to the other side of the car, and opened the driver's door.
“You know, for an 8-year-old you have a lot of opinions” Lucy mumbled, sitting and putting on her seat belt.
“I know, my teacher says I’m too advanced for my age” Sienna replied with a smirk.
“Kinda feel sorry for her” Lucy shook her head, turning her Jeep on.
“Don’t be, I hear her talking behind your back” Sienna declared while checking her new books.
“What?” Lucy snapped looking at her niece. Thank God they were still in the parking lot.
“Yep, she wants your parking spot. So she tried to spread some rumors.” Sienna replied uninterestedly, "That woman needs to remember that children understand more than she thinks.”
“Why didn't you tell me?” Lucy asked.
“Because Principal Cho shut her up,” she explained, since the situation had been cleared it wasn't important anymore. Then she added “And I put a bag of spoiled eggs inside her car”
“It was you? How did you do it?" Lucy questioned her, her head started to feel heavy, too much information for one library ride.
“A magician never shares her secrets," Sienna replied witty. "And I don’t like people that talk about my family.” This girl was without a doubt her family. She needed to reduce Sienna’s time with her family.
“Well, thank you," Lucy responded ironically. "That wasn't good, but I appreciated the intention. Just don’t do it again. Next time you tell me, okay?” She gave her niece one warning look making Sienna nod
“Okay,” Sienna replied not truly convinced.
"Great. Let's go for an ice cream before your dad gets here"
Sienna let out a cheerful "Yes!" In response. And just like that Sienna evaded the whole awkward situation for her and her aunt. Meanwhile, Lucy leaves behind her thoughts about the blue-eyed beauty she meets at the library.

2023 Music Recap
It’s the end of the year! Basically, anyway. And I wanted to share a musical recap for 2023 from rediscovering my love of live shows to sharing the three albums I heard for the first time that absolutely made my world better and got me through the rough spaces of this year. Feel free to share your own favorite live show or album :)
Live Show Extravaganza:
Taylor Swift - What can I say? The Eras tour was truly epic. I cried, I sang my heart out along with every person in the audience (except the dad in front of me who downed 6 hard seltzers throughout the show to cope 😂). Still have to watch the tour video and relive it all.
youtube
Muna - I was so ridiculously excited that they opened for T Swift and then they had a truncated set because of the weather. But! That meant they switched up their set and played my favorite along with “Silk Chiffon”!! (Anything But Me):
youtube
Nine Inch Nails/Ministry/Nitzer Ebb - This triple headliner was wild with a capital ‘W’. Aging dancing goths and everyone pogoing-up and down like an old school 90’s show. I’ll treasure the playlist I have from this one since NIN was what Myrs’s teenage rebellion sounded like. (Less Than):
youtube
Death Cab for Cutie/The Postal Service - Transatlanticism is pretty much my favorite album of all time, so this concert was truly amazing. I bawled during the title track. Absolutely wept. Getting to share it with a haladriel friend made it even better. And the Depeche Mode encore? Impeccable. (Transatlanticism live):
youtube
Pedro the Lion - The sound of my 20s to early 30s because I just couldn’t quit listening to it. As an exvangelical, his music is everything, and hearing him play the whole album live was unreal. (Rapture):
youtube
Nation of Language - 80s style synth pop!! And perfect synth pop at that. I named my first long-form Haladriel fic after this one. (Across That Fine Line). So good live, and the venue was tiny, so it was me near the front with a friend bopping and swaying all night long:
youtube
Michigander - their music is just fun, and I love that. Solid pop rock and a great live show that had the crowd singing along at the top of their lungs. (Stay Out of It):
youtube
Albums of the Year:
Frightened Rabbit’s “Midnight Organ Fight” - huge thanks to @rebelrebelwrites and @bad-surprise for introducing me to this album in their own playlists and mentionings this year. “While I’m alive, I’ll make tiny changes to earth” will probably be my next embroidery text project, and a vinyl recording is making its way into my brother’s arms as a holiday present. (Good Arms vs. Bad Arms live A/V club recording):
youtube
Hozier’s Unreal/Unearth - It was stressful as all hell, but I scored a ticket to see him when he comes to my city, and I just know there will be copious weeping and lip wobbling. This whole album is my favorite of his three, when I never expected it to top “Wasteland, Baby”. But so many songs scream fic material and are so beautiful and lush. Here’s my sing at the top of my lungs car song (Who We Are):
youtube
Ethel Cain’s Preacher’s Daughter - the utter vibes of this album are absolutely out of this world. Switches between the darkest and broodiest to americana to a track played in the opener to headliner switch at the Taylor Swift show. Just incredible. (Family Tree):

Bullfrog Joy
February 8, 2024
Good Morning! Early spring or the calm before the next winter storm? Pretty nice weather, and my daffodils and tulips are up and have buds on them. I suppose I will have to cover them up if it really turns cold again. Spring flowers – joy!
Did you watch the Grammy Awards last Sunday? For some reason I did. Well, maybe it’s because there was nothing else on, and they promised a Billy Joel appearance. However the one I enjoyed most was Fantasia (whom I have never heard of –sorry!) singing “Proud Mary” in a tribute to Tina Turner. That’s one of the first guitar songs I ever learned.
My second favorite was “Both Sides Now” by Joni Mitchell. I just looked up her story. So heartbreaking and so powerful. When she was little she had polio and had to learn to walk all over again. When she was 20 she got pregnant and felt she had to give the baby up for adoption. She wrote the song shortly after that. She really had seen both sides of life and love. Then in 2015 she had a brain aneurysm and had to learn to walk and talk all over for the second time. Her performance at the Grammy’s was amazing.
As for the rest of the evening …. I hadn’t heard of many of the nominees, Taylor Swift of course breaking a record for best album Grammys and Miley Cyrus. Man, has she changed since she was Hannah Montana! I don’t know if I would call watching this show joyful, but it was interesting. (I have to admit I read a book through a lot of it.)
What about you? What was your favorite part of the Grammy’s? Are you a Swifty? Lots of people were pretty excited when she announced her new album. WOW, like 1000’s of likes in the first few minutes, surpassing 12 million likes within hours. I’m a little behind!
What I am excited about is the Super Bowl on Sunday. I love the Chiefs and my Mahommes and Travis Kelce. Isiah Pacheco is another player I like. I read his story. When he was in high school his brother was shot. A year later his sister was murdered. He was very angry, and he played football to help him get through life. He brings some “angry running” and a story of overcoming to the field.
In case you are not a football fan, turn your thoughts to your friends. Who have you been friends with the longest? One of my friends is two weeks older than I am. We were in the church nursery together, and we are still friends. That is almost 73 years of joy, my friends!!!
Two of my friends and I were moms of young children at the same time. We did a lot of things together, a lot of supporting one another, a lot of babysitting for one another. Funny story, two of us went grocery shopping with our daughters. We bought lots of bulk food at a store where we had to mark our own prices on things so the checkout girl would know how much things cost. No scanning available. When we got everything in the car, we turned around and looked at our two girls and the packed car. There was no place for them to ride. We had to start all over. We did make space, but barely. Still brings a smile to my face.
Then there are the new friends. It is amazing to find a new friend whose life parallels your own. We talk about our families and our lives and football and we have had so many of the same experiences. Now we can talk about our grandkids, and we laugh and say, “Yep, I understand!” (and she likes McDonalds. We had to eat in the car because the lobby was closed!)
Oh my friends, it is so important to find joy in the things you like and the people you know. I hope you get to watch the Chiefs win the Super Bowl, or at least find some funny or poignant commercials that make you smile, and next week new NCIS shows are coming! Joy to you this week. Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea. Joy to you and me.

All Too Well
Olivia Benson X Bisexual!Daughter!Reader! Based on the song All Too Well by Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version Obviously). You are seventeen in this fic and your girlfriend is 20. Noah is a little older than he would be in the actual show and Noah is actually Olivia’s, like they are blood related.
“I walked through the door with you The air was cold But something about it felt like home somehow And I, left my scarf there at your sister's house And you've still got it in your drawer even now”
Walking down the sidewalk the cold air has a slight bite to it as you head to your girlfriend, Rose, sisters house for a dinner to meet your Roses’ parents and older brother. You already met her older sister a few months back during your first date. You and Rose have been dating for over six months now and she has met your mother and little brother Noah.
As you walk you pull the scarf Rose gave you for your birthday, tighter round you. Soon after walking up the steps to the house you find yourself knocking on the door and your girlfriend pulling you into the house not even kissing you which is strange because she normally would hug you and kiss you.
“Oh, your sweet disposition And my wide-eyed gaze We're singing in the car, getting lost upstate Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place And I can picture it after all these days And I know it's long gone and that magic's not here no more And I might be okay but I'm not fine at all”
“Hey! Uh my mom said to say hi for her!” You say smiling before leaning into kiss her only to kiss her cheek. “Oh uh tell her I say hi” Rose says not looking at you. Sighing you follow Rose into the kitchen where her family is. “Y/n! It’s so good to see again! How is your mom?” Lily, Rose older sister asks walking over to you and giving you a side hug.
Smiling you hug her back, “she is good! Just working on a tough case right now” you say as Rose stands an awkward distance away from you. “Well tell her not to over work herself!” Lily says just as an older man clears his throat.
Rose straightens and moves close to you looking over the man. “Mother, Father, this is Y/n.” Rose says stiffly. After giving her a confused face you look to them and extend your hand. “Y/n Benson. Nice to meet you both Mr. and Mrs. Jones” You say only for them to not shake your hand and give you a disapproving look.
“'Cause there we are again on that little town street You almost ran the red 'cause you were lookin' over at me Wind in my hair, I was there I remember it all too well Photo album on the counter Your cheeks were turning red You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin-sized bed And your mother's telling stories 'bout you on the tee-ball team You told me 'bout your past thinking your future was me”
Just then the doorbell rings causing you to sigh mentally ‘Saved by the bell’ you thought. Lily excuses herself and goes to the door letting in a younger man. As he walks farther in he smiles at you. “Ben this is Y/n.....My girlfriend” Rose says going quiet towards the end.
Ben smiles again and nods his head at you “Y/n Benson, nice to et you Ben” you say extending you hand to which he shakes. “Benson as in Olivia Benson?” Ben questions. “Yes actually that’s my Mother. How do you know her?” you question.
“Everyone in the academy knows about Olivia Benson. She is the kindest, bravest detective/cop out there.” Ben says smiling which makes you smile. Rose then clears her throat with an annoyed face.
“And I know it's long gone and there was nothing else I could do And I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed to 'Cause there we are again in the middle of the night We're dancing 'round the kitchen in the refrigerator light Down the stairs, I was there I remember it all too well, yeah And maybe we got lost in translation Maybe I asked for too much But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up Running scared, I was there I remember it all too well”
“Is the food ready Lily?” Rose asks impatiently. “Yep! Why doesn’t everyone take a seat!” Lily says smiling. You sit next to Rose across from Lily and Ben and next to Mr. Jones.
Half way through the meal Mrs. Jones looks to you after setting her fork down. “So Y/n, what does your mother do?” Mrs. Jones questions then takes a sip of her drink. “My mother is the captain at  The 16th Precinct at the Manhattan Special Victims Unit.” You say smiling. “She is a police officer?” Mrs. Jones questions with antipathy laced in her voice.
“Actually she is a detective but same difference. She is the captain like i said ma’am.” You correct politely. “She is an amazing detective. She cares a lot about victims and tries to help them as best she can.” You add smiling softly
You are extremely proud of your mother. Raising you and working her way up at work and having Noah and taking care of him. The only person you look up to is your mother. You have always admired her bravery through everything in her life.
“And what about your father?” Mr. Jones jumps in. You look to Rose for help but she is text on her phone under the table. Sighing you look to the man. “I don’t know who my father is. He left my mother before I was even born” you say telling the truth, slightly.
“And you call me up again just to break me like a promise So casually cruel in the name of being honest I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here 'Cause I remember it all, all, all Too well”
“No father? Well how does your mother manage? She can’t do it all by herself can she? I mean you did say she was Captain correct? How can she handle being a captain and a mother?” Mrs. Jones questions with a tone of voice that sounds like she is disgusted by your mother.
You look to Rose for help but she is once again distracted by someone on her phone. You were actually able to get a look at the name and a few of the messages which made your heart drop but of course you didn’t focus on that in the moment.
That just made you mad. No one had the right to question your mother capability. “My mother has never needed a man and won’t ever need one. She is strong and can take care of herself as well as me and my brother. She never brings work home and is always there for me and my brother. If one of us has a show or is sick, she is there. She has never missed any of my science shows or my brothers ballet recitals” You defend your mother causing Rose parents to look at you with that look of disgust again.
“Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it I'd like to be my old self again But I'm still trying to find it After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own”
Following the food being finished you excused yourself to the restroom and left the table. After finishing, you walked out of the bathroom only to see Rose standing there looking at you. She pulled you into a spare room that was upstairs.
After shoving you into the room, Rose shuts the door and moves around to the window leaving you by the door. “You had no right to talk to my parents like that! Talking back to them. That wasn’t polite” Rose states looking at you with foreign eyes.
“What are you talking about? They were the ones being rude! They kept looking at me with disgust! I thought you were my girlfriend! I kept looking to you for help only to find you texting Belle and flirting with her! Our best friend Rose!” You yell back at her causing her to get red either with embarrassment or anger.
“Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone But you keep my old scarf from that very first week 'Cause it reminds you of innocence And it smells like me You can't get rid of it 'Cause you remember it all too well, yeah”
The two of you yell back and forth at each other before you finally have enough. After a few minutes you look at Rose with tears in your eyes. “I only want to know two things. Are you cheating on me? and trust me not answering with words says it all.” You ask looking the girl you love.
Rose stays silent giving you your answer. Chocking back a sob you take a step back. “We are done Rose.” You state before leaving the room and the house as quick as possible. Grabbing your coat but forgetting your scarf.
“Cause there we are again when I loved you so Back before you lost the one real thing you've ever known It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well”
You make your way home as quick as possible not wanting to be anywhere but your bed curled up with your favorite blanket and a tub of ice cream. As soon as you are home you walk up the flights of stairs to your apartment mentally smiling because Noah is at a sleepover and he won’t be home until late tomorrow.
You walk in and shut the door locking it then going over to the couch and flopping on it before the tears start running down your face. After awhile you fall asleep being to exhausted to walk to your room.
Unknown to you, Olivia comes home early finding you curled in a ball on the couch with tear stains on your cheeks. Olivia walks over and squats down sighing before moving some hair out of your face and kissing your forehead causing you to stir.
Opening your eyes, you look at Olivia causing more tears to gather in your eyes. “Oh baby what happened?” Oliva asks before sitting on the couch and pulling you close to her. “She cheated on me and we fought and we broke up.” You sob out while clinging to your mother for dear life.
Tears form in Olivia’s eyes as she hates seeing you in pain like this. “I loved her so much mommy. I don’t think I will ever love again! It hurts to much!” You cry which only causes Olivia to tighten her grip around you.
“Wind in my hair, you were there, you remember it all Down the stairs, you were there, you remember it all It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well”
~Nine Years Later~
You smile looking at the picture on your phone background. You are now a surgical resident at the local hospital. You just recently married an amazing man named Henry Montgomery. You both met in Med school and started dating your senior year. He is older by two years but that is nothing. You and Henry are headed to the airport where your little brother Noah will be leaving to start is training in the Army.
He decided after high school that is what he would do then maybe work on becoming a detective so he could work with your mom who laughed at that but now seeing what he is doing, she is very happy. Also Elliot had returned and him and Olivia got close again and even confessed their feelings for each other. They got married three years ago. Elliot threatened Henry when you introduced him to them.
Henry’s mother and father live in LA and they are nicest people ever. They didn’t threaten you as much as the squad aka Amanda, Fin, and Elliot did to Henry.
Shaking your head you smile as you see Noah walking up to you. “Now don’t go doing anything stupid Noah Benson!” you say causing him to laugh. “I won’t sis!” Noah says smiling. You pull him into a hug whispering in his ear, “look you even got the great Elliot Stabler crying” causing Noah to laugh even more.
“Hey don’t go putting her hand on a bomb in a patients body or getting shot got is Y/n Montgomery-Benson!” Noah says causing you and the rest of your family to laugh.
Everyone says their goodbyes and you step away to go to the bathroom. As you walk in you run into a man and a woman in the hallway. The man looks at you and squints his eyes. “Y/n? Y/n Benson?” the man asks causing you to turn and look at him finally realizing who it is. “Ben? Ben Jones?” You questions causing him to laugh and nod.
Ben walks up and hugs you causing you to smile. “What are you doing here?” Ben asks looking at you smiling like a little kid in a candy store. “I was just saying goodbye to my brother. He is flying out to train in the army.” You explain.
Just then someone clears their throat and you both look at the woman. Something finally clicks in your head. “Rose?” you question causing the woman to nod. “Yeah. Uh hey Y/n! How have you been?” Rose asks “I have been okay!” You say before using your hand to move some of the hair that fell in your face out of the way.
“That’s good. So are you married or engaged?” Rose asks pointing to the ring on your finger. “Oh I’m married. My husband is actually right over there with my mom and step-dad” You say pointing over to where Olivia and Elliot and Henry are.
“That’s awesome Y/n! Really that’s great! Well listen we have a flight to catch. so see you around” Rose says causing you to nod and bid goodbye to the two. After you go to the bathroom you return to where Olivia is standing and smile at her.
“Who were those people you were talking to?” Olivia asks look at you. “That was Rose and her brother Ben” You say while looking over to where Henry is talking with Fin and Elliot. “Rose as in the Rose the girl who cheated on you in high school and broke your heart? The girl who had you crying for an entire weekend?” Olivia questions going all mama bear.
Smiling at Olivia you say, “Yep. But that is ancient history. I have someone who loves me and won’t hurt me.” You say causing Olivia to smile. “That you do hun” Olivia says and pulls you in for a side hug causing you to smile.

Makayla’s seven, here’s her birthday. Because @sylvies-chen told me to. Completely unedited Burzek family fun times.
When Kim asked her daughter what she wanted for her birthday, Makayla’s answer was simple. She wanted to spend it with her best friends, Kim and Adam. How this was different to any other day, she had no idea, but what Makayla wanted she got.
Hiding her fears and worries from Makayla was so difficult, her reactions to tall men hard to hide, how she’d hold Adam’s hand even tighter. But she had to make this perfect. Makayla was a Burgess now, and she would not let her daughters first birthday as one pass with Kim’s fears dictating everything.
So instead they were at Lincoln Park Zoo, wandering around the exhibits. With Adam’s hand firmly in hers, Kim ignored the rising tension in her body, focusing on Makayla’s grins and delight. They went to the platypus exhibit, watching as she realised exactly what they looked like and compared it to her teddy.
When they stopped for lunch, Kim relaxed, watching as Adam lit a candle in a cupcake as she blew it out, Happy Birthday being sung by the two of them. She clapped and grinned, insisting that each of them took a bite.
Heading home she was on a sugar high, and they buckled her into her car seat as she sang along to a Taylor Swift song. When they closed the door Adam turned, putting his arms around Kim and taking some of the tension away.
“I’m warning you now, Kev is at the apartment with Jordan, Hailey, and Jay. They wanted to give Mak a surprise birthday party, ok?” The relief that he had warned her, that she wouldn’t be surprised filled her as Kim reached up for a brief kiss.
“Perfect.”
The party went off without a hitch, everyone singing Happy Birthday as Makayla got a proper birthday cake with Moana on it. She blew out her candles to applause, and everyone tucked in. The excitement tired her out, and Adam lifted her to bed, Kim and Adam making quick work of getting her pjs on and settling her into bed. Her new books were on the nightstand, the ridiculously huge art kit Adam had bought her in the corner as they tucked her in.
“That was the best birthday. Love you Kim, love you Adam,” she murmured as she drifted off, the two adults looking at each other with glassy eyes.
That night, in the dark of her bedroom, Kim told Adam those same three words for the first time in nearly six years, hearing them back with a grin on his voice.

The sound of the front door slamming shut caught Poe’s attention from the kitchen followed by heavy footsteps going straight up the staircase. He had decided to leave work early and surprise his daughter by being home when she got home from school and was making her an afternoon snack. A second door slamming shut made him furrow his brow and he put down the knife he was using to cut up an apple to go upstairs and investigate.
“Hon?” He knocked softly but only heard silence on the other side of the door. He knocked again before opening. “Hey, I’ve got some apples cut up if you want—“
She sat at her desk, head on top of her arms and her shoulders shaking. The breath she took in shook with sadness. Poe frowned and walked over slowly, not wanting to frighten her.
“Hey…” He put his hand on her back and rubbed it gently. “What’s going on?”
All she could do was cry, the sound breaking his heart right in two. He kneeled down next to her so he was eye level and she immediately threw her arms around his neck, crying softly into his shoulder. Poe hugged her tightly, cupping the back of her head and kissing the side of it. She didn’t say anything and he didn’t push her to. He just let her cry.
Her tears slowed and her cries grew quieter until the only noise that came from her was sniffles.
“Are you hurt?” He asked quietly and she shook her head, a quiet sigh of relief escaping his lips. “Do you want to talk about it?”
She took a shaky breath in and it caught.
“I…I d-don’t—“
He shook his head and kissed her cheek. “You don’t have to if you’re not ready.”
She nodded and hugged him tighter. Poe held onto her as she continued to calm down. He moved back and cupped her cheeks, thumbs wiping the leftover tears away.
“Come with me.”
He stood up and headed out of her room with her right behind him. She followed him downstairs and he told her to wait in the foyer while he put the apples in the fridge and grabbed his keys. They went out to the car and she got in the front seat.
“Where are we going?” Her voice was hoarse from crying. Poe started the car and looked over at her with a soft smile.
“I don’t know. I guess we’ll see.”
Poe set out on the road, her favorite top 40 radio station filling the silence at a low volume. He looked over at her occasionally, her head not moving from its place against the window as she watched the trees and houses pass by. The tears hadn’t returned but she still looked down.
Being a single dad was tough. Poe had to be both mom and dad, which was admittedly easier when she was younger. Left at his doorstep by an ex-girlfriend at just a couple months old with a note tucked into her car seat, Poe thought he had done a pretty good job raising her without a mother. She was kind, polite, and the two of them were thick as thieves. But there were times when Poe felt the pressures of raising a girl, now a teenager, alone.
He was lucky to have such strong women in his life to be there for his daughter and so grateful to have them step in and help him, especially when she started asking about boys and when her time of the month first came around. Poe was good at a lot of things, but that was way out of his comfort zone.
He was so proud of the woman his daughter was becoming, but he’d be a fool to hide the fact that he was terrified about her teenage years and all the firsts that came with it — her first kiss, her first heartbreak and, god forbid, her first time. He found himself wishing a lot of the time that he she would just stay little forever.
Poe finally stopped the car about an hour later and she looked around, not recognizing where they were. Small shops lined the street on either side, big windows with their big colorful displays catching people’s attentions.
“Dad, where are we?” She asked as she got out of the car. He looked around for some kind of sign and shrugged.
“Ummm, I’m not really sure. I just kind of drove. Let’s walk around and find out.”
He walked up to the sidewalk and looked back when he saw she wasn’t following him. He gave her a humored smile.
“Come on.”
She looked at him skeptically and caught up with him. They walked by a few stores, taking a minute to look at the items in the window but not going inside. She didn’t seem all that interested, but Poe was hoping there would be something here that would make her forget whatever it was that was troubling her. It wasn’t until they got to the other side of the road that she finally spoke.
“I heard my friends talking about me behind my back.” Poe looked at her and she looked down and played with the sleeve of her hoodie.
“They hurt your feelings.”
She nodded and swallowed hard to keep herself from crying again. Poe put his arm around her shoulder.
“Girls are….young teenage girls especially….” He was at a loss. He had never personally dealt with any kind of girl drama before, so he really had no idea why her friends would do that and what to say to make her feel better.
“In my opinion, because I have no knowledge of how teenage girls operate…I think if you talk about someone behind their back, you’re insecure or jealous. Maybe even a little bit cowardly…because they can’t say it to your face.”
She nodded slowly and sighed. “I don’t like some of the same thing they do.”
“There’s nothing wrong that.”
“I think they think I’m…uncool or something. I don’t know.”
“Sweetheart…” Poe stopped walking and she looked up at him. “You are your own person. If there’s something you don’t like, big or small…you shouldn’t pretend to just because you think it’ll keep them around. I hate pickles with a passion and your Aunt Rey and Aunt Leia don’t understand why…but they don’t think I’m any less cool.”
She bit back a smile. “That’s…not exactly the same thing, dad.”
He shrugged and smiled softly. “My point is…don’t change yourself for anyone and don’t sacrifice your comfort and happiness just to please someone else.”
She knew he was right, he always was…but she couldn’t take him to school with her the next day to help her when she came face-to-face with them. How many more of her friends talked about her behind her back? Who would she talk to? And how long would she feel hurt by this? The questions swirled around in her head. The sadness she had felt earlier had been replaced by anxiety. Poe squeezed her shoulder as if he could sense it and she gave him the smallest of smiles.
She stayed silent and he kept his arm around her as he started walking again. They came across a store that had a shirt she liked in the window and she stopped to look at it.
“Want to go in?” Poe asked. She bit her lip.
“Can we?”
He nodded and gestured towards the door, allowing her to lead the way. She walked inside and looked back at him.
“You know, I hate pickles too.”
“They’re the worst.” She nodded in agreement and let out a giggle and he smiled at the sight of a smile on her face.
They spent hours walking around and Poe let her go to every store she wanted to go to. They talked about everything not related to school until she completely forgot about them and laughed and smiled harder than she thought she could muster up after what had happened at school earlier. She found some clothes that she really liked and Poe bought them for her before stopping for ice cream. They each chose a flavor and gave half of their ice cream to the other, a little tradition they had started a few years prior.
The drive home was happier. Her phone was hooked up to the car’s bluetooth and played her favorite songs, most of which Poe had never even heard of. She sang along, Poe looking at her when questionable lyrics came up. All she did was shrug and sing louder. He eventually turned the music to his favorite classic rock station, to which she laughed as she protested, and then it was Poe’s turn to sing loudly at the top of his lungs. He smiled widely when she started singing along with him, all the bad parts of the day completely forgotten.
What was a bad day quickly became one of the best days she’d had in a long while, and she had her dad to thank for that. She knew she always would.

……………………………………………………………………
Jo held her swollen baby bump as she pushed open the red door of the loft. She didn't know why but it seemed heavier than usual as she pushed it open. Alex was always the one to keep the door well oiled, but now he was gone, that was her responsibility. However, it wasn't easy to remember to do the things that he used to do for her now that she was on her own. Sometimes the responsibilities seemed endless and she missed having a partner to share the burden with.
The Loft was cold and dark, and it reminded her of the first night she showed it to him as they walked through the door of the Loft together. There was something about this place that drew her in. She thought that they could take it and make it into anything they wanted, and they did. As she flicked on the lights, the warm light revealed the cozy home they had and the life that they created together. That other life they had created stirred in her belly as her daughter kicked against her hand.
Jo shrugged off the coat that she wore now that summer had turned to fall and hung it up on the hook. That morning as she and Levi left for work, she wished that she had her favorite scarf, but she can’t remember where it was and suspected that she left it at Meredith's house the last time they had waffles Sunday. They still had waffle Sundays, but it wasn't the same without Alex. Nothing was the same without him.
She waddled over to the cabinet behind the couch and put her bag down along with her keys and everything else. At 39 weeks pregnant, the only thing she wanted to do each night was collapse on the couch, watch TV, and fall asleep until she gave birth. Thanks to her friends, most nights, she did. They kept her fridge well stocked, so she didn't have to worry about cooking dinner. Link came over and did her laundry every week, and Bailey and Carina had her on a light work schedule, so she was home by 6 p.m. every night. Jo loved her new mentor, and after switching from surgery to OB, she had grown to admire Carina, and the two had become close friends. Jo didn't mind that she was keeping a close eye on her baby. Except when it meant keeping a close eye on her.
Apart from that, Jo had at least one visitor a night who would come in and check on her before Levi got home from work. Some nights Jo appreciated the company, but most nights, she felt like a toddler who needed babysitting. Still, the worry of her friends was much needed, especially since she didn't have Alex to worry over her.
Jo didn't want to think about the husband that left her tonight, but it was hard not to think about him when she carried around a little part of him every day. Her daughter had been quiet on the drive home, but as Jo walked around the Loft, she was greeted with a series of movements as her daughter wiggled around.
“Hello, my sweet girl,” Jo whispered as she pressed her hand into the side of her belly as her daughter kicked against her fingers. Jo moved her hand over and pressed into the other side of her belly as her daughter lightly kicked her hand again. They played a little bit of back and forth, poking and kicking for a second before Jo rubbed her belly and walked over to the kitchen.
The latest pre-made dinner was her favorite macaroni and cheese, made by Levi, although he did put broccoli in it. After she warmed up her dinner, she walked over to the window and watched the rainfall on the parking lot while the city lights glittered in the rain. The views from the Loft certainly weren't the best in the city, but it was nice, and Jo enjoyed watching the rain.
She looked down at her rain stained car next to Alex’s Audi. She didn’t know what to do with it, so it just sat abandoned beside her own. She remembered the time they drove upstate to stay at a cabin in Bellingham for a long weekend. She controlled the music and got him to sing along to Taylor Swift. He didn’t lie and say he only knew the lyrics because of the kids who blasted it on the ped’s floor. With her, he never hid what he liked. They drove through the autumn trees on a winding road and the leaves fell like the rain. Everything was golden as the setting sun came in through the windows and the red and orange leaves were a colorful paint on the grey pavement. The memory was as vivid as ever and she could hear his laugh as he insisted on carrying her into the cabin and straight to the bed.
She pulled her sweater closer around her shoulders and held her cup of tea close to her lips, feeling the warmth of steam and the sweet scent before she took a sip. As she looked around the Loft and waddled over to the couch. They had designed the Loft in a way that it always fit the fall theme. It was always cozy and warm on the dreary winter rainy days. Which was good considering that was pretty much the majority of the weather in Seattle. This October, Jo, and Levi had put up more decorations than usual. There were pumpkins everywhere, although their carved Mini pumpkins sat next to colorful corn cobs on the kitchen table. They had strings of leaves all around them, although a lot of those were just the ones that they brought in on their shoes. The theme of the Loft had always been red, and that red fall theme had trickled over into the nursery she had set up in the corner where the dining table used to be.
She thought she would set it all up on her own bit by bit, doing a little each day, and she did. She slowly bought everything she needed, but the day the crib and the dresser were delivered, her friends surprised her with a decorating nursery party in favor of a baby shower she wouldn't let April plan for her. Meredith, Jackson, April, Link and Amelia, Maggie and Winston, and all the kids came over along with Schmitt and Taryn and Nico, and the rest of the Grey-Slone family. They all put together the furniture, folded and washed the baby clothes, and put the toys away. They got the dresser, and the changing station set up all while Jo just sat in her new rocking chair and directed traffic. Everybody else from the hospital had stopped by and delivered gifts, and at the end of the day, Jo had a full nursery ready for her daughter.
It was so wonderful she nearly cried. After Alex left, she decided to go through with her pregnancy alone. She would tell him eventually, but for now, she needed to do this by herself. She thought that she would be completely alone, but Jo was never alone. She had a family now, and even in the loneliest of times, they all banded together to take care of her. That meant more to her than anything else. It was perfect, but the one person who should have been there putting together the nursery with her wasn't there.
Jo let out a sigh as she rested her tea mug on the end table and reached for the remote that was too far away. Levi always put it on the coffee table, not the end table like Alex did, and it was almost impossible to reach from her reclined position. She leaned forward and stretched to reach it as she bruised it with her fingertips before she grabbed ahold of it.
“I’m gonna kick you out pretty soon if you keep restricting my movements, kiddo. It’s bad enough that I can’t take the stairs or walk faster than a duck,” Jo huffed as she sat back and sipped her tea.
In response, her daughter gave her a series of swift kicks to her ribs.
“Ow, okay, I get it you want out too. I know there’s not much room in there, but it’s not my fault you're so big,” Jo said as she rubbed her belly to comfort her daughter.
However, this time, her daughter didn't kick her, and instead, a painful contraction gripped her stomach. Jo and mediately sat up and tried to breathe through it. She had had a few Braxton Hicks contractions earlier in the day but nothing this strong.
“No, no, no,” Jo moaned as she breathed out and tried to get through it. Once the contraction passed, she scolded her daughter. “You can't send me into labor now. I haven't even told your father about you.”
The day they had driven up to the cabin was long gone, but a part of him was still with her. She tried to pretend that she was okay, but she wasn’t. She knew she had to tell Alex about their daughter, but even then, it wouldn't fix anything. It wouldn't bring his love back. She had gotten so close to telling him a number of times, but every time she heard his voice on the phone, she just couldn't. The day she had her 20 week scan and found out she was having a girl, she had gotten so close to telling him. In a rush of excitement, she pulled out her phone and dialed his number to tell him that they were having a daughter. But the phone just rang and rang, and when he didn't pick up. She was once again left listening to his voicemail, her excitement had turned to disappointment, and she just ended the call. Looking back now, she didn't know why she didn't tell him. She should have, but she couldn't bear the thought of not seeing his face or hearing his voice when she told him. She wanted him to pick up the phone for her, but he never did.
Jo didn't remember the rest of the day too well, but she remembered how Meredith and Link, and to her surprise, even Bailey, offered to let her stay with them as her mood darken. But Jo was determined, maintain her stability for the sake of her daughter, and she didn't want to leave the Loft. It was her home and it held so many memories of Alex. It was hard to face the memories of him after he left, but when she found out she was pregnant, she clung to every bit of him that she could, in the hope that she could give it all to her baby.
Jo closed her eyes as she sat back on the couch and listened to the news anchor go on and on as she heard the rain pelt against the windows. She sat cozy and warm on the couch as she got lost in her memory. She could see it all again. The drive up to that little town with the cabin. She remembered the wind in her hair and the music of the radio. She didn't know what it was about her smile that day, but Alex couldn’t stop staring at her. He had looked over and stared at her with that little crooked smile, and it was only because she rolled her eyes and looked back at the road that she noticed the light turn yellow. Alex had to slam on the brakes to avoid running the red light. It was a bit scary, but she laughed because he got distracted by her, and she would never get tired of the way that he looked at her like that. It was happy and painful to remember, but she remembered it all too well.
She wasn't surprised when she fell asleep, she was so tired these days, but she was woken up only a few minutes later to another contraction. This one was just as strong as the one before, and Jo tried to remember all the breathing techniques and exercises that she had learned over the past few months now that she was an OB/GYN resident. She did her breathing and set her tea down. It was still warm in her hand as she set it down on the arm of the couch. Jo tried to move into a more comfortable position and rolled onto her side. As the contraction finally passed as she let out of breath.
“Hey you, I thought we agreed you weren't coming yet,” Jo said as she put her hand over her bump and her daughter replied with gentle and soft movements as she squirmed around but pushed her arm out. “You can't come yet, please.”
Jo got up and started walking around the loft, or rather waddling. She looked at her watch, waiting for the next contraction to come, but it never did. Jo finally relaxed, letting her shoulders sag as she finished her tea. She went over to the nursery, brushing her hand along the railing of the crib as she sat down and the rocking chair. She put her feet up on the ottoman as she gently rocked back and forth. She had chosen a classic glider, but it was insanely comfortable, and both her and her baby were calmed by the rocking motion.
She reached over to the nightstand to grab the baby blanket. It was the leaf printed muslin swaddle that she intended to bring her daughter home from the hospital in. She had been carrying it around so that it would have her scent on it when her daughter was born. As she grabbed the swaddle, her hand brushed over the photo albums she had been looking at a few days ago. It was Alex's photos from when he was a kid. When his mom had visited, she had brought it with her. The album was something she had created for Alex, Amber, and Arron.
Alex had cried when he first saw it. Neither of them had many photos from when they were kids. After Helen had gotten more stable, she started sorting through the things in the house and found all the photos. She had made each of her kids, and each album was filled with photos and little descriptions of the memories of each photo. Having the photo album meant the world to him.
Jo had loved the album too and she had sat next to Helen on the couch as they all went through every photo. Alex had blushed this deep red color and tried to keep certain photos from her, but she loved every single one of them. It was filled with photos from his childhood, from when he was a baby to when he was a teenager. Helen even managed to track down a few photos of him in college when he was on the wrestling team. Jo’s favorite was from when he was a little kid, sitting in a twin-size bed with dinosaur sheets. She smiled because she loved that little chubby kid as much as she loved her tall, scruff husband. He was just so cute and her heart just melted on the spot. Helen told her stories about him in the library, how he took care of his siblings, and his successes on the wrestling team. Jo loved every second of it, especially when Alex blushed and hid in her shoulders.
That night as he laid next to her before he fell asleep, he whispered that he wanted to do that for their baby. He wanted them to have a photo album and memories of their childhood for them to look back on. It was the reason Jo had the photo album out because she had started a baby book. She had written down every detail of her pregnancy and tucked away every little ultrasound. She had no idea what she was doing, but luckily the book was all set up, and all she had to do was write everything down and add the photos. It wasn't much, but it was something that their baby would always have.
Jo knew everything about Alex’s childhood, just like he knew everything about hers. She remembered how he promised that their baby would have a better childhood than either of them did. She put a hand on her belly and felt her daughter move around. She knew that their daughter would have that good childhood that they never got, whether she had to do it alone or not. She didn't know how they would work it out, but even if she and her daughter only had Alex part-time, she knew that he would be the best father in the world. In the meantime, she could be a good enough mother to make up for the rest of it.
She had another Braxton Hicks contraction and laid back and let go of the photo album as it fell to the floor. This one lasted a little longer, but it finally passed, and Jo looked down at the photo album open on the floor. She hadn’t been able to reach anything on the floor since she hit 30 weeks, and she can't remember the last time she was able to tie her shoes. At least Levi didn't mind picking up after her as Jo decided to leave it.
She looked down at the photo album again. It was open on pictures of Alex in high school. He was so handsome in his wrestling uniform. Despite how much she tried to tell herself that she could do this on her own, she knew she never could. The memories of their life together were so vivid and fresh, and Jo was glad that she got to keep them. As the fridge came to life and hummed, she looked over and remembered the night that they danced together in the refrigerator light. It was late, and they were both on night shift and had come home to make dinner. As they cooked together, Jo put on some music, and then she grabbed his hand and pulled him in the dance with her. He laughed and kissed her, then gave in and danced with her for a few minutes before the pasta started to boil over. She could still remember the sound of his laughter and the feel of his hands on her waist. She remembered it all too well.
This time after she fell asleep, she woke up to Levi gently calling her name and shaking her shoulder. “Jo, Jo, wakey, wakey,”
Jo groaned and swatted at the hand that poked her shoulder. “Leave me alone, Schmitt.”
“Fine, I just thought that you wouldn't want to sleep all night in the rocking chair,” Levi said as she opened her eyes, looking up at him as he pulled back and shrugged.
Jo sighed as she realized she was still sitting in the glider and held out her hands to him. “Ugh, help me up, please.”
Levi pulled her up, although not without a strain on them both. He wasn't quite strong enough, and although she was reluctant to admit it, she was getting too big. After he helped her up, she walked towards the bed as she heard him pick up the photo album and put it back on that nightstand.
“Was there anything else you dropped,” Levi asked as he looked around the room and collected her dinner dishes and then the mug of tea she left on the couch.
“No, just the...” Jo trailed off with a groan as she leaned against the post as she had another Braxton Hicks contraction.
“You okay?” Levi asked, but she just squeezed her eyes shut and ignored him. He had long since learned not to touch her or interfere when she was having a Braxton Hicks, or she would bite off his head.
“Yeah,” Jo said as the contraction finally passed, and she went over to sit back down on the couch. “She's just been dramatic today. I've been having Braxton Hicks since this afternoon.”
“You've been counting them, though right,” Levi asked, suddenly worried as he came over to her.
“Yes, of course, I've been counting them. I'm not a moron, and I'm not in labor,” Jo said, waving her hand to dismiss him.
“Okay, I'm just saying your full term, so it can happen any day now,” Levi said, walking back to the kitchen. “Did you have dinner already?”
“Yes, Dad,” Jo said as she rolled her eyes. She didn't need a lecture on how close she was to her due date.
It was something everybody, especially Meredith and Link, had been annoying her about. Jo was highly aware of it as the day she would have to call Alex and tell them that she had their daughter was getting closer and closer. She had avoided him for nine months, saying that she wouldn't tell him until she had the baby. She was still on the fence about whether she wanted him there, and she delivered. She knew that he would be there for her, and he would comfort her and hold her hand and get her ice chips and let her scream and cry and yell at him for leaving her. However, other times the thought of seeing him again while she was in labor was too hard. As she made her birth plan and attended to the labor and births of countless other birth givers and babies, she wanted things to be calm. She wanted people there who would support her, and although Alex was the best person for that since he left her, things had changed, and she wasn’t sure he would be.
Her daughter wiggled and painfully stretched out inside of her pushing on her organs as Jo let out gasped and rubbed up and down her belly. She pressed down on where her daughter's feet were. She had dropped lower a few days ago, giving her a little extra room, but she and Carina estimated that she was at least 9 pounds, so regardless, she didn't have much room.
“I know,” Jo said with a sigh as she talked to her baby girl. “You're ready to come out, but I'm not ready for you yet. You got to hang tight just for a little bit longer, please, baby girl.”
Her daughter relaxed as she gently kicked her hands, and Jo smiled. However, it doesn't seem that her daughter wanted to listen to her tonight. As then she heard a pop and felt a gush of water. It was just a little trickle, and Jo blushed in embarrassment as she thought it was her bladder releasing as her daughter pushed on it. However, as she drenched her jeans, instead of smelling like pee, it smelled a little sweet, and Jo suddenly realized what happened.
“No, no, not yet, please not yet,” Jo said as she put her hand on her belly as she looked down at her lap that was soaked in her amniotic fluid.
“What's wrong,” Levi said in a panic as he came over to her. He looked down at the dark patch in her jeans as her amniotic fluid continued to soak her pants and then looked up at her. “Oy vey, you're in labor, your water broke, you're in labor.”
“Levi,” Jo said through gritted teeth as she had another contraction. “Call Meredith.”
“Yeah, okay, okay,” Levi said, taking a deep breath as he scrambled to try and find his phone. “Oy vey.”
Jo tried to relax as best she could and breathe through the contraction, going to the technique of counting in her head as she breathed in and out. As soon as the contraction passed, Jo put her hand on the sidearm of the couch and pulled herself up. She looked back at the white couch that was now stained wet and a little red with blood.
She tried to remember not to freak out seeing the blood as she knew it was normal, but she couldn't help but grieve for the ruined couch cushion. It was kind of fitting that her water broke on their couch. The couch had been through so much. They had spilled beer and pizza sauce and teriyaki on that couch, but they'd always manage to get the stains out, but this was one stain that probably would mark the fabric forever.
Jo looked over at Levi in his little space where Alex’s weights used to be. He rummaged through everything on his twin-size bed, mumbling and trying to find his phone. Jo rolled her eyes as she made her way over to her bed. She grabbed her purse from the cabinet behind the couch and her pillow. Her hospital bag and the car seat were already in her car as she figured she didn't want to lug all of it down there while she was in labor, and she was so glad she did. Now that she was in labor, she realized she wanted a few extra things. She grabbed a few snacks from the kitchen, her favorite hair scrunchie, her headphones, and of course, the baby book. Jo put everything on her bed before realizing she was still in her wet jeans and grabbed a pair of sweatpants before she went over to the bathroom.
“What are you doing,” Levi asked, his head popping up as he rushed over to her. “You don't need to push, do you? Cuz if you need to push, I can be ready. I mean, it’s not like I haven’t seen you naked before.”
“Okay, first off, you are not going to be in the room while I’m pushing. Secondly, I don't need to push ye. I just want to change out of my wet jeans,” Jo said as she put her hand on the door handle to the bathroom and shut it in his face.
“Okay, but leave the door unlocked in case anything happens,” Levi shouted as Jo kicked off her jeans and left them in a mess on the floor.
There was a reason why she didn't pick Levi to be her labor partner, and now she severely regretted Meredith’s offer to let her stay with her. If Meredith were here, she would have already helped Jo change and then helped her to the car. But Meredith’s house was so crowded with Maggie, Link, Amelia, and all the kids. During the last few weeks of her pregnancy, Jo's nesting instincts had kicked in, and she felt the need to be at the Loft and make sure that everything was ready for her daughter. Besides, knowing Link, if she went into labor when he was around, he would probably be just as panicked as Levi.
It was a struggle to put on anything that involved her feet these days. She also had to pause as she had another contraction, but she managed to put on her sweatpants before she went back out. Levi was still running around the Loft collecting things, but at least he was on the phone with Meredith. Jo went over to the bed and got her things. Jo stood in the entryway with her bag on her shoulder, and her pillow under her arm as Levi still scrambled to find his things.
“Alright, I’m gonna go wait in the car,” Jo said as she waddled over to the door, reaching for her jacket and her favorite pair of gray slippers.
“Okay, I’m coming too,” Levi said as he scooped up his things before taking her bag and the pillow from her as they made their way down to her car.
Jo put her hood up and pulled her coat around her middle, although her belly stuck out and her white T-shirt got wet. She handed her car keys to Levi as she had another contraction and paused as she leaned on the hood of the car. They were still ten minutes apart, but now that her water had broken, they were much more painful, and she watched the rain fall on the windshield, trying to let it calm her as she followed the water droplets down the glass. After it passed, she let Levi help her into the front seat as he finished putting everything in the back. Finally, he climbed into the driver seat and started up the car before he froze.
“What now,” Jo said in annoyance, gritting her teeth.
“I think I forgot my wallet upstairs,” Levi said quickly, padding his thighs and then his butt only to come up empty.
“Well, go get it,” Jo yelled at him as he quickly scrambled out of the car and ran back upstairs. “And don't forget to lock the door.”
Now that she was finally alone in the car, with only the grey skies and the rain that pitter pattered on the rooftop. Jo pulled out her phone as she figured that now was as good a time as any to call Alex. She put one hand on her belly as she pulled up his contact. Even if she got his voicemail now, she knew she had to tell him that they were having a baby.
To her surprise, she had a voicemail from Alex waiting for her. She knew she shouldn't be surprised. He left her a few voicemails in the past few months. He always called in the middle of the night or early in the morning when he knew she would be sleeping, and even if he did call during the day, she never picked up for him. Since he sent the divorce papers and the letter, he had left her a few voicemails asking for her to sign the papers and send them back, but she couldn't do that yet. She quickly pulled up the voicemail and held her phone to her ear as his familiar voice came through her phone.
“Hey Jo, I was just wondering if you had filed the divorce papers yet. I still haven't heard from you, and Meredith won't tell me anything, so I just thought I'd call and ask you. I know this is hard, this is hard for me too, but,” Alex trailed off with a sigh, and she could tell that he had pushed the phone away from his ear and put a hand over his face like he always did when he was tired and frustrated. “I'm sorry, I'm sorry I had to end things like this. I'm sorry that it's all on you to end our marriage. I could make it easier for you, and I could meet up with your lawyer or you or something, just let me know. Again I'm really sorry Jo, but I really need those papers, please. Please just call me and tell me what you want to do, okay?”
She knew Alex better than anybody. She knew about his father and his mother and Amber and Arron. She knew that he was the wrestling state champion in junior year in college. She knew that Mr. Myers who worked the night shift with his favorite foster parent. She knew that even though Amber was grown up and had a family of her own, Alex still felt the need to take care of his baby sister, which is why they visited her twice a year. She knew he loved to drive as he always said it was where he could really think. She knew that he loved Taylor Swift music, and she knew that he loved dancing but only with her. She knew that when he found out about the twins, he had panicked and he ran. It was always his first thought, and it was hers too, but she had stopped running a long time ago, and she thought he did too, but his letter was his way of running away again.
“I swear I love him, but sometimes I hate him. I know he's your father's baby girl, but he is the most frustrating person I've ever met,” Jo nearly screamed as she clenched her phone before she let out a breath and rubbed her hand across her belly. “Even when we were together. And even now, I can tell that he still loves me too. He's trying to make the divorce easy for me, but he doesn't know that I’ve been put off filing the papers because I have you. Once he meets you, he's going to be faced with the reality of what he's done. I don't know if he'll come back to us, but I want him to be there for you. I wish this was easy, baby girl, and I'm sorry it's not. You deserve parents who aren't in the midst of a divorce. You deserve parents who are so much better than this.”
Jo took a deep breath as tears collected in her eyes. She had always wanted the best for her daughter. She wanted things to be good for her. So she had ignored the truth that things weren't in the hopes that if she ignored it long enough, Alex would come back to her and things would be good again. She knew now that she was foolish to think that. Every time he had called her since he sent the letter, it felt so casually cruel, but she knew he was just being honest. She felt like every promise he ever made to her, he broke again and again. All she could hear some nights with him saying that he wasn't going anywhere except home with her, but none of the words on the letter replayed in her head, saying that he wasn't coming home. If it wasn't for their baby girl, Jo thought she would have broken down.
She let a few tears fall down her cheeks before She had another contraction. This time she let herself cry out in pain. But when the pain passed, she wiped away her tears and took a deep breath. As hard as this was and as much as it wouldn't fix anything, she had to tell Alex. He deserved to know. She wasn't going to be like Izzie and keep his daughter from him. She couldn't do that to either of them, but she couldn't help but feel like she was throwing a bomb into the middle of his life.
Still, she picked up her phone and dialed his number again. He was the first name in her contacts and last call that she had gotten. So she wasn't surprised when it rang for a little while, but she was surprised when he picked up.
“Hi Jo,” Alex said with such sadness in his voice as if it physically pained him to say her name.
“Alex,” Jo breathed out his name despite the pain. He always filled her with a sense of relief. Jo took a deep breath as she looked at the clock, and she only had a few more minutes until her next contractions hit, and she wanted to get it all out to him.
“Look, about the divorce papers…” Alex started to say.
“Alex, I can't file them, not now, just not now, because I'm pregnant. I'm having our baby girl, right now actually. I'm, I'm in labor, and I can't file the divorce papers because they only allow family members in the delivery room right now, and you're my family, and I need you. Our baby girl needs you.”
Alex was silent on the other end of the line, and Jo was a little grateful for that because her next contraction hit, and she let out a moan as she tried to breathe through the pain again. She leaned forward and put her head on her arms as she leaned against the dashboard. She could hear Alex calling her name, but in the midst of her contraction, she couldn't respond until finally, it passed.
“Jo, Jo, are you still there? Are you alright? Is, is she alright,” Alex begged her for answers, and she could tell that he was moving around in the background. “Please talk to me!”
“I'm fine and she's fine too,” Jo said, still a little breathless from her contraction. “She's perfect actually, she's healthy, and she's strong, but my contractions are really strong too.”
“How far apart are they? Has your water broken yet? How long have you been having contractions? Are you at the hospital?” Alex asked a series of questions as he rambled off in a panic, just like she didn't know he would.
“Alex, stop,” Jo cut him off before he started asking her more questions. “My contractions are ten minutes apart, and my water broke a few minutes ago. So I've only been having them for a couple of hours. It's still really early, I can tell, but I'm headed to the hospital now. Levi's driving me, or he's supposed to be.”
“Schmitt is driving you to the hospital?” Alex asked as Jo looked up to the window to see him finally coming out the door of the apartment building and rushing over to the car.
“It's a long story. A lot has changed since you left, Alex,” Jo said in a whisper, so much had changed.
“I’m sorry,” Alex whispered too.
“Okay, ready to go. Did you call Meredith?” Levi asked, breaking their little bubble of silence as he got in the car.
“Just drive,” Jo said, putting her hand over the receiver as Levi pulled out of the parking lot before she went back to her call with Alex. “I'm headed to Grey-Sloan right now. I umm, I have Meredith and Carina, and they’re going to be with me through my labor but, but I want you there too.”
“Of course, of course, I'm going to be there. I'll be there as soon as I can, and you can scream and cry and yell at me or just hold my hand, and I'll feed you ice chips or something. I'll get you whatever you want, Jo,”  Alex said in the same voice that he used to promise her the world with, and although she knew she shouldn't, she believed that he would keep his word this time.
“Okay,” Jo said with a nod, tears springing in her eyes. He was coming back to her, to her and their baby.
“Okay, do you want me to stay on the line with you until I get there?” Alex offered, god, he was so sweet, but Jo didn't know what she wanted.
“Don't you have to catch a plane or something?” Jo asked, trying not to hold her breath as she waited for his answer.
“No, actually I'm in Chehalis with…” Alex trailed off, not wanting to say her name, and Jo was glad because she didn't want to hear it. “I'm just, I'm in Chehalis, and I can be there in an hour if traffic isn't too bad.”
“You’ll have to go through Tacoma and the traffic in Tacoma is always terrible,” Jo said, closing her eyes and her tears finally fell down her cheeks as Levi drove through the downtown streets. She took a deep breath and opened her eyes as she looked at the road ahead of them. “Okay, just why don't you just get here as soon as you can, and I'm going to call Meredith, but not before I yell at Levi's for taking the wrong street.”
“I'm not taking the wrong street. This is the best way to get to the hospital,” Levi insisted as he gripped the wheel and painfully went this exact speed limit as he cautiously drove.
“No, you're on 4th ave, but you should have hopped on Highway 99. It’s faster!” Jo insisted as she pointed at the map he had up on his phone showing the option for the route she wanted.
“Yeah, but it's dangerous to drive on the highway,” Levi protested as he stayed the course. “And this is the way that I take when I ride my bike, so this is the way we're going.”
Jo threw her head back against the headrest and groaned as she had another contraction. She tried to breathe again as she gripped the door handle as if it was Alex’s hand. She didn't want to go through this alone. She wanted him here now.
“That’s it, deep breaths, Jo, you're doing great,” Alex's gentle voice came through the phone as he was there for her. “Just keep breathing and trying not to kill Schmidt. He should be careful he's got precious cargo.”
Jo took comfort in his words as she let out a breath and the contraction finally passed. “Our daughter is going to be so excited to meet you, so just get here as soon as you can, please, Alex.”
“I'm excited to meet her too,” Alex said, and for the first time since he left her, he sounded happy. “I can't wait to meet her, and I can't wait to see you again, so I'm going to hang up and hop in the car right now. I'll be there as fast as I can, okay?”
“Okay,” Jo said with another nod as she put a hand on her belly and Alex hung up.
His voice was still ringing in her ear as she remembered it all too well. Yet, soon she would hear his voice as he sat beside her and supported her as she delivered their baby girl, and she wouldn't have to remember because she would have him back. If only for tonight, if only for her baby girl.

Five Quotes From Your Favorite Books:
(the poet x by elizabeth acevedo)
but if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought. (1984 by george orwell)
but by degrees the flood of music drove all speculations out of his mind. it was as though it were a kind of liquid stuff that poured all over and got mixed up with the sunlight that filtered through the leaves. he stopped thinking and merely felt. the girl's waist in the bend of his arm was soft and warm. he pulled her round so that they were breast to breast; her body seemed to melt into his. wherever his hands moved it was as yielding as water. their mouths clung together. (1984)
but you could not have pure love or pure lust nowadays. no emotion was pure...their embrace had been a battle, the climax a victory. it was a blow struck against the party. it was a political act. (1984) (this quote is so gay lol.)
he did not stir, because julia was sleeping with her head in the crook of his arm. most of her makeup had transferred itself to his own face or bolster, but a light stain of rouge still brought out the beauty of her cheekbone. a yellow ray from the sinking sun fell across the foot of the bed and lighted up the fireplace, where the water in the pan was boiling fast. down in the yard the woman had stopped singing, but the faint shouts of children floated in from the street. he wondered vaguely whether in the abolished past it had been a normal experience to lie in bed like this, in the cool of a summer evening, a man and a woman with no clothes on, making love when they choose, talking of what they choose, not feeling any compulsion to get up, simply lying there and listening to peaceful sounds outside. Jin x Reader - Love Story
Tumblr media
This is totally based on the Taylor Swift song, I will forever sing to this when I hear it xD But I was listening to it in the car the other day with TacoAdmin and instantly thought of writing a story for our prince Jin, but it’s going to be more modern :) I hope you like it, feel free to let me know what you think down in the comments!

Masterlist
You and Jin met your junior year in high school. You both fell in love shortly after meeting each other and you were practically inseparable. The only issue, however, was that your dad was very traditional and hated Jin because he was in a band and thought he would be a bad influence on you.
Flash forward to now your sophomore year in college and you want nothing more than to bring Jin home with you to eat dinner with your family or just come to hang out with you. Anytime you asked your parents though, your dad would change the subject and basically tell you no. So the only way you got to see Jin at home was through FaceTime, but only when your dad wasn’t within earshot. Occasionally though, you would sneak downstairs to meet Jin on the front porch because you missed each other so bad.
One time you joined some of your distant relatives and your cousin’s boyfriend proposed. Your heart ached because you thought about Jin and how you wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of your life with him, but you knew your dad would never approve.  He actually looked to you and to your cousin and said, “Congratulations (C/N), you’ve really found yourself a respectable young man to spend you life with. I’m wondering when my (Y/N) will find someone like that.” You stood from the table angrily and said, “I did Dad, and his name in Jin. You’re just too stuck up to give him a chance just because he is in a band! You won’t even let me introduce you so you can actually get to know him!”. Your Dad didn’t like that and responded back “(Y/N) you deserve someone who is responsible and who will take care of you better than a boy looking to be a rockstar! How does anyone expect to make a living off of that huh?” He asked you crossing his arms across his chest in judgement. “(Dad are you kidding me? Just because he is in a band does not mean that he isn’t responsible! He is in a band yes, and he is very good at it, but he is also a straight A student who always makes sure to study, and he makes time to spend time with me, unlike you who is always too busy to do anything anymore! And oh yeah did you happen to consider that he makes me happy?! I’ve never been happier than I am with Jin, but you are too full of yourself to see that! I’ve had enough of this conversation, I’m going home!” you said tears starting to fill your eyes.
Your dad was enraged by you walking for the door and said, “(Y/N) you are not going anywhere, you need to sit down and -”. Your mom grabbed his arm and told him to let you go to cool off, your mom nodded to you and said “Go home sweetie be careful.” “Thanks mom.” You said going outside to your car. As soon as you cranked the car you told the car to call ‘My Prince Jin’ tears beginning to roll down your cheeks. When he picked up he was bubbly and excited to finally talk to you. “Hello my princess, how are you doing this fine evening?” he asked mimicking a british accent. Typically his silly antics would make you giggle, but tonight you were far too upset. “Jin baby I need to see you please.” You partially begged between sobs. Immediately concerned he said “Of course baby I’m on my way, wanna tell me what happened?” You wiped at the tears and said “Not right now, but I will when I see you okay.” “Okay, well I’ll be at your place in a few see you then, I love you.” He said, which tugged at your heartstrings. “I love you too baby.” You said ending the call and blasting music to try to stop crying until you got home.
When you pulled up Jin was already there waiting for you on the front steps of your house. You couldn’t get out of the car fast enough, but you managed to put the car in park and take out the key successfully before running out to jump into his waiting arms. You didn’t realise you left your aunt’s house without your coat until you noticed how cold it was outside and how warm you felt in his arms. For a few minutes he just held you in your arms as you cried. After you calmed down a bit, he sat you down and wiped the tears from your face and pressed a kiss to your forehead and asked “Alright princess even though I was planning to come see you tonight anyways, do you think you can tell me what’s gotten you all worked up?” You nodded and sniffled before speaking, “ Yeah, um, it’s just my dad. We got into another argument tonight, and it was worse than usual, I actually stormed out of dinner with my aunt after yelling at him.” you said looking down at your hands. He winced, knowing your dad would definitely still be upset with you and asked “That bad huh? What were you arguing about this time?” You rolled your eyes thinking back to the conversation “It’s the same old thing, tonight my cousin’s boyfriend proposed and asked when I was going to find a young man like him, and I got so mad. I hate the way he thinks of you, all he sees is a irresponsible punk in a band, but he won’t even try to get to know the smart, funny, loving man that you are. He doesn’t understand how happy you make me, and that I don’t want anyone else but you.” you explained starting to get worked up again because you want your dad to approve of Jin so badly. Jin just smiles at you sadly and says “I know princess, this has got to be so hard for you. I’m sorry that I’m someone that your dad doesn’t trust to be with you.” He pulls you in for a hug and you just stay like that until suddenly Jin is being yanked away from you.
Shocked at how quickly Jin was removed from you, you looked up to see your dad holding Jin by his collar seething with rage. Jin’s eyes were wide like yours not expecting to be pulled away from you so violently. Your dad looked him in the eyes and said “ See I knew that you were a bad influence holding on to my daughter this late at night, how many times have you had her sneak out to see you huh punk?” yanking on Jin’s collar dropping him making him fall back on the grass. “Dad! What the heck are you doing, leave him alone!” you yell astonished at your Dad’s behavion towards your boyfriend. “(Y/N) it’s time for you to go inside now!” Your dad yells back at you still glaring at Jin who’s picking himself off of the ground. “No Dad you can’t just treat him like that he’s -” “(Y/N) It’s fine I’ll go, I’ll talk to you later” Jin said trying to send you a comforting smile. “Oh no you’re not, I don’t want you around my house or around my daughter ever again! Get off of my property!” He yelled angrily at Jin. “Dad no please!” You beg starting to cry again as he makes you go inside closing the door behind him. “No (Y/N) you don’t need to see him anymore he has been such a bad influence on you. Making you sneak outside so he can make out with you!” He said. “No Dad, Jin doesn’t make me do anything, I called him and asked him to meet me because I needed someone to comfort me and help me escape from you for just a few minutes, but you have to ruin everything! If I were to say Jin made me do anything, it would be that he actually makes me happy and thinks about my feelings! Something you never do!” you said running up the stairs slamming your door.
As soon as you closed your door, you slid down against it sobs racking from your chest, completely heart broken at the scene that just took place. Why couldn’t your dad just accept Jin if only for the simple fact that he makes you feel like the most special girl in the world. You were crushed at the thought of Jin never talking to you again. At this point you didn’t blame him because your dad almost killed him tonight.
For days you sat in your room crying, only coming out to use the bathroom, not bothering to come downstairs to eat. Anytime your mom or dad knocked to check on you, you just yelled at them to leave you alone, which they inevitably did. You never felt more alone than you did the past few days because you had not heard from Jin since the incident occured earlier in the week. That made you cry even harder because all you could think about was never getting to see the love of your life ever again. You wanted Jin to come save you from the nightmare that has become your life, but at this point you were starting to lose hope.
After a week of crying your mom finally convinced you to come out of your room to shower and go downstairs to eat something. After making yourself look more presentable than your unbrushed hair tied into a bun with a tearstained face, wearing the hoodie and sweatpants Jin gave you, you came down to eat the breakfast your mom made for you. “ Sweetie I’m sorry you’ve had to go through all of this, just know your father truly does love you and wants to see you happy.” she said stroking your hair and placing a kiss on it. “Yeah right, Dad only cares about the image of our family, he doesn’t care about my happiness.” you said glaring at your toast. Your mom smiled at you and said, “It will be okay sweetie, why don’t you go out back and get a little fresh air, I’m sure it will make you feel better.” You shrugged and said “I guess.” making your way towards the back door.
What you weren’t expecting to see when you stepped outside was Jin waiting for you with his hands behind his back. You were confused, but noticed the song in the back was obviously his voice, but he had not shown you this song before. Jin grinned nervously as soon as he saw you and reached out to hug you, “Hey baby, I’m sorry I haven’t spoken to you for the past few days, there was some urgent business I needed to take care of, one of those things was I was, uh, writing this song for you about how much I love you.” he said sheepishly. You smiled at him “Well thank you Jin, but what are you doing here?” you asked arms still wrapped around his neck. He stepped back looking into your eyes and said, “Well (Y/N), I love you so much, you bring such a light into my life and you give me the joy and motivation I need to wake up every morning. I am so thankful for the afternoon on that disgusting, over crowded bus where we were forced to sit together and met. I didn’t know love at first sight was real, but (Y/N) as soon as I saw your grumpy face that morning I knew I was in love with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So...” He said kneeling to the ground and pulling out a box with the most beautiful engagement ring you’ve ever seen and asked you, “(Y/N) I’m here to ask you if you would make me the happiest man alive and marry me?” You started to tear up and jumped into his arms and said, “Yes, yes, Jin I want to marry you!” He picked you up and spun you around so happy at your reaction and answer and kissed you. After he set you down he reached out for your hand and slid the ring on your finger. You stared at it with a smile stretched across your face, feeling the happiest you’ve ever felt in your entire life.
Suddenly it donned on you, “Wait Jin, what are we going to do about my dad?” You asked voice laced with concern. “You won’t have to worry about that.” you heard your dad say as he and your mom walked around the corner of the porch. “Dad?!” You questioned, your dad being the last person you expected to see right now. He walked up to you and took your hands and said “(Y/N) I’m so sorry for the way I reacted the other night. I know I was being a horrible dad, and your right... I wasn’t thinking about your happiness like I thought I was. I was selfish and only thought about the kind of man I thought you should be with. But Jin met me at my office a few days ago and explained to me how much your relationship meant to him and it touched my heart and made me realize he is the perfect man for you, so when he asked for your hand in marriage, there was no way I could say no. (Y/N) I want nothing more than for you to be happy, and there is no one better I would approve of. I hope you could forgive me?” You definitely weren’t expecting that to say the least, but it made you so happy to see that your Dad finally saw Jin as the man that he was. You hugged your dad and said “Of course I forgive you Dad, thank you so much, you have no idea how much this means to me!” Your dad chuckled and said “I know sweetheart, from now on I will focus on what makes you happy, and now I know that it is him.”
You pulled away from the hug from your dad and walked back over to Jin smiling up at him and said, “We’re getting married!” “We’re getting married!” he responded a huge grin spreading across his face as he leaned down to kiss you. Your could hear sniffles coming from behind you, and as you leaned back from the kiss, you grabbed Jin’s hand and turned saying, “Mom you don’t have to cry.” When you looked at your mom though, her eyes were dry, but you saw your  dad was the source of the sniffling. Trying to act tough, your dad said “What? I’m not crying I just have dust in my eye.” You all laugh at your dad’s silly behavior. His face turning somewhat serious though, he looked over at Jin and said, “Now young man I expect you to take care of my (Y/N) and make sure she is happy okay son?”Jin smiled when your dad referred to him as son and squeezed your hand tightly and said, “Yes sir, there is nothing I would rather do.”
Today was one of the best days of your life, and it was leading into a new chapter of your love story.
