It was Maid Day today yesterday a week ago so I got struck by inspiration to draw the worsties, and it ran away from me into a whole AU where they’re coworkers at a maid cafe. She’s a med student & this is just a part time job, and this is his depression job while he gets his life back together. He needs something he can be workaholic about to forget what it’s like having a personal life and personal issues. He’s actually the accountant, but the new hire janitor (Izutsumi) doesn’t show up for half her shifts and is a sloppy worker, so he gets the extra work of doing her job on top of his because he’s undervalued and overworked. Of course, janitors also have an uniform to keep the aesthetic cohesion as they go about cleaning the place, of course.

Senshi’s the part time cook you only see slivers off, he’s kind and warm when you do see him and have a chat but most shifts he’s in and out the kitchen without a trace. Laios and Falin are regulars because Falin and Marcille are besties & in the same med school, Laios accompanies Falin as she visits her friend at work and gets hooked on the food. Chilchuck has to remind Marcille to work instead of chatting with Falin for an hour, and next thing he knows she’s distracting him from work too. That’s it that’s the AU. So my Girl Kokoro has a lot of pride, she hates being seen as weak bc of her daddy and mommy issues and because of that hates it when people call her by her real name and tends to prefer to just go by HP in honor of her magical girl title, but within like TWO days of knowing Undine and hearing her call her HP she was just like '...you can call me Kokoro' and then Undine does just that all of HP's friends go absolutely bananas quoting it as 'the forbidden name' and then react even more dramatically when Kokoro just sort of rolls with it. Girl's had it bad since this waterbender pretty girl first tidal waved into her life Meanwhile Undine, whom as a magical girl struggles to kill monsters on her own since her powers are more 'support class' as it is, she's not super strong on her own, kills a HUGE monster in basically one shot when Kokoro is threatened to nearly get swallowed by it, turning her water into essentially a jet cutter. she often has dreams about Kokoro, though only realized she had feelings for her during that noted save, she's ALWAYS worried that just by being around her she's putting a target on her back (bc she's the main character so the bad guys are gunning for her) she seems really chill most of the time bc she's just a really reserved girl but like this girl can and will commit murder to keep her pink gf safe and like- they're canonically super gay end of chapter 15 they kiss for the first time it's great

Napat "Pat" Jindapat/Parakul "Pran" Siridechawat:

Prans been in love with Pat since they were kids, Pat didn't realise that he loved Pran until they met again in Uni and then fights more to keep their relationship because Pran is scared to get sent away again

Childhood enemies to lovers (except Pran was in love with Pat since at least highschool. Probably a lot longer), seperated and then met again at uni. Pat comes to a crashing realisation in like 2 days that he is in LOVE with Pran, confesses to him that same day, and never looks back. Though Pran is hesitant (external pressures keeping them apart like family rivalry, university shenanigans, and already being a secret friendship), Pat pursues him into danger and remains steadfast in his love until Pran is comfortable. He is consistently showing up and proving to Pran that while Pran has been in love for years, Pat's emotions are no less deep, and will always lose to keep Pran happy.

look Pran was out here having his gay angsty awakening as a teenager realizing that he was in love the boy he was supposed to hate because of the rivalry between their family and starts repressing shit meanwhile Pat is living the himbo life and still unaware that his bestie is a lesbian and in love with his sister. it's not until they get to college where Pran is so resigned to his feelings that he doesn't expect anything to happen and then Pat attempts to confess his feelings to his lesbian bestie to which she responds "are you sure about that?" and he suddenly has an epiphany that he's in love with Pran and goes full on "if i don't have this man on me in five minutes i stg"

1. spotlight. kat and i have this one in common, and for good reason - it’s just so. damn. satisfying. people who do bad things get called out on their bad stuff and people who had been ignored get heard. it’s (in my opinion) one of the most re-watchable dramas out there. and man…such a good cast.

2. howl’s moving castle. look, probably most of the studio ghibli movies could make this list, but howl is the one i turn to the most because the whimsical, fun, warm vibes of this movie feel like a HUG. the growth of all of the characters makes me smile and you just want to FALL into this movie. i absolutely want to take a walk through some hills and find myself at the door of a wacky castle with a super hot wizard, thanks very much.

3. major league. i asked my younger brother once how many times we’ve seen this movie and he laughed and said, “oh man…at least a couple dozen.” you have to understand this movie is a solid piece of the foundation of my childhood. we only had the basic stations when i was a kid and this movie was on on saturday afternoons constantly. CONSTANTLY. i can probably quote the entire thing from memory. there’s something about a baseball movie that always makes me feel like i’m living in an endless summer afternoon, like i have nowhere else to go, nothing else to do. it’s an unsurpassed vibe: just baseball and a warm afternoon that never ends.

4. 10 things i hate about you. another endlessly quotable movie - and one i share with my sister. also our dad loves it - and quotes it to me too. there isn’t a lot to say for this one other than sometimes a movie comes along and it’s just yours, you know? this is one of mine. when my sister had her oldest child i bought her a tiny red izod polo shirt and she immediately asked, “did you buy this from an outlet mall?” YES. I ABSOLUTELY DID AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN PROUDER RO BE YOUR SISTER THAN IN THIS MOMENT, RIGHT NOW.

5. rudy. if there’s something i think everyone needs to know about me, it’s this: i love inspirational sports movies. LOVE THEM. absolutely cannot get enough. do i know exactly what the filmmaker is doing to me every time i hear sweeping music and someone starts running in slo-mo? oh yeah. abso-fucking-lutely. do i care? not the smallest bit. in fact i lean into that shit. rudy is one of the best ones and it also gets extra bonus points because for a long time it was the only movie i ever cried at. that’s not hyperbole. people would refuse to watch it with me because i’d always be reduced to a blubbering mess by the end. HE’S SO LITTLE. AND THEY CARRY HIM OFF THE FIELD. give me a break. i’m not made of stone.

6. steel magnolias. the hallmarks of this list are a) i have watched this movie at least a dozen times, b) this movie has a VIBE, and c) this movie is insanely quotable. this movie passes all three with flying colors. the cast is absolutely stellar, and this community of women who love and support each other is just…THE ACTUAL BEST. but also: it has dolly. DOLLY. “what size shoe do you wear?” “well, i wear a size six, but a seven feels so good, i buy a size eight.” perfection. PERFECTION.

7. ocean’s eleven. you know how i love an inspirational sports movie? I LOVE A HEIST MOVIE. like LOVE. the whole genre is smart and fun, and ocean’s eleven is also stylish and funny and just a fantastic fucking time. it has an insane cast and a great soundtrack and it’s just so GOOD. so so good. it’s a film told with a wink that manages to carry the best part of 50s/60s swag into the 00s, and we are all the better for it.

This is a very weird question but like, in a fandom that is generally pretty forgiving towards any given crime a male character commits, why do you think Tigerheart of all cats is the one instance where people want his head on a stick. Is it because he’s dovewing adjacent or something? I think he’s generally a neat character, tho they fumbled his characterization past his súper edition, seeing that he interacted so much with other cat cultures I always imagined he’d turned more open minded outsiders wise instead of cajoling him into the obligatory strict shadowclan leader role

he/him lesbian swag is too powerful

I think in the early AVOS days it would be accurate to say that it was Dovewing hate that had people hating Tigerheart (because. that was pretty much the attitude in OOTS lol) but I don't think it's entirely fair to say now. I think there's quite a bit of reasons why people may not like him: the age gap (while it doesn't necessarily bother me as they got together later, not gonna pretend i don't get why it would bug others), the off and on relationship drama with Dovewing (which. once again i liked but other people might not), the way that he's used as a main aggressor when he's named leader for different conflicts (onestar's dead! need a new leader to be the primary antagonist ringleader. i can imagine a lot of people read squilf's hope and came out of it not liking tigerheart), and now in ASC where he has taken over another Clan (once again. he's correct for doing this because it has made the plot very fun and also he's doing stand up for riverclan so i don't know why they're being so ungrateful???)

I agree with the last part BIG TIME, his super edition sets him up to be the antithesis to his grandfather! I like that he's doing it his way though. But otherwise, I think he's got an interesting and somewhat consistent character, with his most enduring trait throughout the series being that he becomes emotionally charged when it's a matter of his family: choosing Dovewing over his Clan, becoming ready to fight the Sisters when they attacked his nephew so badly that he lost hearing in one ear, going after RiverClan when his son died, and so on and so on. It's super duper interesting and it's a trait I've always really liked about him.

But that's me lol I think the dude is neat but I can get why people do not vibe with this dude

a few WuWa thoughts! these are just my opinion, + they'll be under the cut cause it got kind of long.

I'll start with pros:

It's gorgeous like the character models, the landscape etc. It's genuinely so cool to look at. the colours are really calming on the eyes as well, like the muted tones

On that topic: all the character designs i've seen are amazing. love them sm

The enemy design is *chef's kiss* they are literally so cool im gonna cry. it kinda reminds me in a weird way of elden ring?? i refuse to elaborate but my brain is connecting dots.

I love the echo system. It's a little confusing (i'll talk about it later) but having them be an active part of the combat system is really really interesting + anything that lets me turn into a monster is so swag

The music is super calming i wanna listen to it forever. Especially the Jinzhou city theme. eating it rn

A few drawbacks:

It's been kind of buggy. Ik there's been a hotfix by the time of this post, but there were moments were textures wouldn't load, dialogue is mixed up etc etc. Personally, my game crashed twice in one playthrough and that's a bit Eh, y'know?

The music mixing is strange. In some cutscenes the background music is wayyy too loud, even though I set the volume to have the voices being the highest value. The Scar lamb cutscene is a good example cause i could barely hear what he was saying

I love the echo system, but it is very convoluted. From what i can tell (unless i missed something, in which case it's entierly on me), you get echoes from fighting overworld enemies, but the stats are still up to rng which feels Weird. It means that instead of having a set 'here you can farm these types of echoes here' you need to run around trying to find them. for some people this might be fine, but it feels a bit messy to me. EDIT: The Tacet Fields seem to be the 'echo' domain, so I may be stupid? Wouldn't be the first time lmao???

the story isn't the best? Ik it's early game and i have high hopes but for me, as someone who wants to experience a story, it's been kind of lackluster? Similarly, none of the characters i've met are particularly interesting to me? I want to think they'll grow on me.

This one is fully just a personal thing. I'm not saying WuWa needs to catar to me specifically: there is a clear gender bias. From the get-go, almost all the characters i've met in the story have been female. If i picked female rover, Mortefi + Jiyan would have been the only guys in the narrative so far. That's a little insane

60 waveplates for everything so far is Weird. like I feel as though the tacet fields should be 40?? is this just me that is weirded out by this???

I know everyone is saying this + i want to stress that this isn't a 'haha wuwa is a genshin clone genshin could never hahaha' cause like to me this is a two cakes situation. However: WuWa has taken quite a bit of inspiration from genshin and it shows. To me, that isn't a good thing? obviously these types of openworld gacha games have like the same functions but so far the UI - including how the dialogue looks, the main menu, how the PP is set out etc etc - is incredibly reminiscent of genshin/star rail.

i know it seems like there's more cons, but that's mostly cause i felt the need to explain myself jfsdnkj i'm still going to be playing, i'm excited to see what it does + the story.

I've mentioned this above as well but: to me this is a 'holy shit! two cakes!' scenario. I'm not going to drop genshin just cause wuwa is the shiny new thing on the scene. Don't comment on this with genshin hate. all it will do it annoy me

is there a common piece of writing advice that you disagree with? alternatively, is there one you think (generally) most people should follow?

“Outlines are the last resource of bad fiction writers who wish to God they were writing masters' theses.” <- why I will never recommend On Writing, a memoir, as a how-to book on craft.

Keeping on theme, I think anyone looking to 'improve' their writing should get into analyzing plot structure. How do their favorite movies work? How do their favorite books work? What differences do they find between novels and short stories by an author they like? What makes a "boring" story to them? Do cultural folktales from their family share any similarities to each other in their beats? You don't have to outline your work (though I'm also a believer in learning how to, for similar reasons); plot knowledge is nice to have just to ambiently improve the way you think about your stories as you tell them.

you can have dinner with any author, living or dead. but the catch is that after the dinner, you and that author will team up against a third writer in a no holds barred cage match throwdown. which 2 authors do you pick?

Lewis Carroll, before I even finished reading the question, because she and I could have a great time. Then I got stuck because I don't know who I'd want to fight that I'd really have a chance against, and I feel like I wouldn't really want to physically defeat anybody. Maybe if we were up against a recently-beloved currently-hated public figure we could raise money for charity, or something.

have you ever experimented with poetry, plays, or screenwriting? what was the result?

I have written poetry and I've written a few script versions of scenes (on Patreon!) and I just don't understand the fundamentals of either. What really baffles me about screenwriting is how one can imagine so thoroughly what they want (?) a given scene to look like, only to distill it into a text-only medium. How do you keep it all in there, while leaving all the 'extraneous' bits out? And how do you see the potential when reading and evaluating it? How do you tell the difference between a script that is bad, and one that can be made good in the shooting and casting and acting and directing? How do you delineate what is the screenwriter's job versus, say, the composer or the costume designer's? Don't even get me started on poetry.

Well, in Book Two there's a scene where someone mentions Kay having an Oedipus complex in passing, to which Kay says they've clearly never read the play, and they say of course they have, and nobody ever addresses the claim again. So there's that.

what author would you love to be compared to? what author would you hate to be compared to? I'm rarely picky about being compared to authors (or texts) people like, though I think the big ones that have been done repeatedly are Carmen Maria Machado and Lemony Snicket. I only think I'd mind being compared to authors if I felt the reasons for comparison were unappealing-- e.g. "your prose reminds me of [author whose prose I dislike], because [thing I dislike about their prose]," or "your work has wonderful political messaging, just like Harry Potter." There's a point at which you start feeling sorry for yourself.

The obvious answer is custom mantel clocks for each of the characters (Constantine would be a little grandfather clock, Kay something lovely and see-through and mechanical, and Atlas a simple black mantel clock to match his in canon), but why not consider a universe in which we also do Kuroshitsuji-style shoes?

free space: what's one thing you really want to talk about in your writing that no one ever asks about?

I do a lot of foreshadowing throughout KAY that isn't going to be discussionworthy until Book Two. Depressing! I also think mysterygf's morality is very interesting as someone who has to write it; I want her to seem one-hundred-percent justified in everything she does to some people, and the devil personified to others. Again, though, how are we to discuss this when I haven't written the book. Speaking of which, off I go...!

(I may have missed some posts but) Can you say more about your "autoandrophilia to hey I'm asexual again" cycle? It sounds a little different than me, but I'm curious about others' experiences along those lines bc I'm in an asexual phase for the second time in my life & trying to figure it out. 1st time my asexuality lasted ~5 years & seemed related to a toxic workplace (academia). I know asexuality is fine and lots of people are happy that way, and in some ways I was too and didn't miss it, but for me personally I was super happy when my sexuality came back. (Left academia too. Yay!) Then a few years later I started T and my sex drive increased. And then last fall I started a blood pressure med and my sex drive turned off like a light switch. I eventually quit both T and the blood pressure med (plan to go back on T someday, but never again the other med, it also made me depressed) but even after 5 months off it, sex drive has not come back. Plus, I have all this shame and disgust about the kink stuff I was super into while on T that I just can't shake. I fucking hate it. This is not a calm, content asexuality. (I do suddenly feel intense sex feelings at specific weird times but like it's fleeting and I can't bring it back.) So I guess I'd love to hear more of your experiences so I can think about it all from some different angles.

Oh I still very much have a high libido. Being asexual is independent of libido. I'm just not attracted to people.

This has always been the case to a large extent, but it is especially pronounced now that I am secure in my body and have very little need or desire for somebody else to affirm me by finding me attractive. I feel that other people can do very little for me now, unless someone was precisely interested in the exact hyper niche fetish scenarios I am into, and if they really had swag in pulling that role off. For the most part, my own glorious body and imagination has a lot more to offer thats gratifying, for now. That and the hypno porn that other people make, which I'm still mostly jacking off to multiple times per day.

I'm sorry that you are struggling with such an extreme libido drop, and with shame about your kinks -- those two things are very likely connected.

Perhaps the libido boost of T was all that gave you the impetus to push through your kink shame previously, and now you need to reexamine that root shame and get more acquainted with your kinks again, slowly and nonjudgementally. Consume some light kink content in the area you are interested in, reacclimate to it, talk to other people who are into it, and slowly gently desensitize yourself to that shame until you can begin to enjoy it again. Go slow and remember just lowering the distress, or improving your tolerance to the distress, is a worthy goal and good progress.

Or perhaps starting and stopping hormones has thrown something in your endocrinology out of wack. Do you feel tired most of the time? Depressed? Are you dysphoric again? How do you otherwise feel about stopping hormones?

There are probably answers in some of these places. When I stopped T my libido also went down, but it was because I was depressed, dysphoric, and resentful, having reverted back to a "female" form to try and appeal to a straight boyfriend because I was sexually frustrated. He also found my kinks disgusting, so. Bit of a libido killer.

I imagine the blood pressure med changes could have thrown your body for a loop too.
