He has never been one to stay still for long. He has lived his life moving, changing, slipping through the cracks of history like a shadow. He has left behind places, faces, names—because that was simply how things were.

My Head in Your Hands

It was late evening in Heartslabyul dorm and Cater was doing your makeup. There was no special occasion, you had simply said you liked how he did his and he offered to do yours as well.

At one point during the interaction, he had waved his hand off to the side dramatically as a way of emphasizing a point he was making. He was busy looking back at his phone to make sure it was recording (he was making a video out of him doing your makeup) when he felt it. A soft weight on his palm.

It took him a moment to realize what the weight was: your chin. There you were with your head rested on his palm and a sweet smile on your face. He thought his heart started beating for a moment, but he quickly did what he could to regain his composure. "What are you doing?" His voice came out a bit shakier than he had hoped.

You look at him strangely for a moment before sitting back up "Riiight. That's a trend from my world. Sorry Cay-Cay-"

The moment the word 'trend' leaves your mouth his eyes light up. Before you can finish your sentence, he's demanding you explain this trend to him.

The next day, as you're walking past the Pop Music Club's clubroom, cater calls to you to join him and Kalim. You walk into the room as you have nothing better to do only to be ambushed by Kalim.

"Cater showed me that video where you did that hand thing! You said it was a trend from your world?"

It takes you a moment to catch your breath after getting the soul scared out of you, but when you do you answer "Uhm. . .yeah."

"Can we do that trend too?!"

You're stunned for a moment. Looking over to Cater, he only offers you a shrug. "Sure?"

Kalim grins wider somehow and hugs you excitedly. He softly takes your hand and places his head on it with the widest grin in the world.

Before you can make a comment, he hands you his phone to take the picture with. With a sigh you extend your arm and smile gently before taking the picture.

"Thanks, Prefect! I'll make sure to send the picture to you later!"

That evening as you're relaxing in Ramshackle you hear a knock on the window. At first you brush it off as the wind since you're on the second floor, but there it is again.

Nervously, you throw your legs over the edge of the bed and creep towards the window. With one motion, you tear open the curtains. There's nothing there.

"Boo"

You shriek and nearly fall over, being saved from your fall by a certain mischievous fae. "Lilia!"

All he offers in response in a chuckle and a wink.

"What are you doing here?" You finally sigh

"Cater told me earlier about your escapades in the Pop Music Club today and the moment you two shared yesterday and I simply could not miss out!"

"So you decided to nearly scare me to death and break into my dorm?"

"Break in is such a strong term. I prefer 'indulge in a surprise visit.'"

You have to hold back a groan at his response. "So, what do you want?"

"Isn't it obvious, My Dear? I'd like to take a photo with you!"

"That's it?"

"That's it," he confirms.

"Alright, fine."

Lilia pulls you into a hug before spinning the two of you around in the air. He finally sets you down, getting a chuckle from your dizzy state "Your hand, Dear."

"My hand?"

"Of course! Don't you think I'd look just adorable nuzzled up in your hand?"

A sigh escapes your lips, but it's accompanied by a small smile. You extend your hand and, true to his word, Lilia does indeed nuzzle into your hand. Just as you're about to grab your phone to take the picture, he shakes his head and points to his phone floating in the air.

"Smile for the camera, Dearie!"

Me: you don’t GET it. It doesn’t matter if Ace’s dream comes true. It doesn’t matter if Yuu leaves twisted wonderland. It doesn’t even matter if they stay. Malleus will end up alone. Other than his family, Sebek and Yuu, he has nobody. And they’ll all die before him. Sure, in staggered orders but still painful nonetheless. Outliving your little brother must hurt. Lilia’s old, and combined with theories, he might even die before silver. And Sebek… well not even HE can last that long. He’s only half fae after all. And by that time, Yuu’s probably long gone.

god youre so right about the dream writing getting more "polished" im not sure if you talked about this yet but do you think Silver is in trouble with how much magic hes using + the number of people hes transporting dream to dream? like honestly Im worried for him

For real 😭 I mean, I still have several major problems with the dreams (like how the pacing is off, how the characters waste so much time standing around and talking about their personal lives when the world is in peril, how they have a very set pattern especially when it comes to the OB boys, and how the dream logic keeps overcomplicating or contradicting itself). However, the character writing has drastically improved for some Savanaclaw and Heartslabyul dreams. Leona, Jack, and Ace’s dreams were very meaningful. Ruggie, Cater, Trey, and Deuce’s dreams had their moments as well, even if they were sillier overall. I largely found the Octavinelle and Pomefiore dreams to be dull or time wasters, Ignihyde’s (Idia’s) and Scarabia serviceable, and Diasomnia’s (Sebek and Lilia’s) good but Lilia’s was too long and Sebek’s was too short.

I too was at first confused about how often and how easily Silver is able to dream hop (something I had expressed in this post), but I honestly don't think anything will come out of it, even if it's fun to theorize. Silver states in book 7 that his UM doesn't take much to use. On top of that, Mr. Shroud (or was it Mrs. Shroud, I forgot but one of them for sure) theorizes that the mages that are resting are recovering the magic they use in their dreams (since technically sleeping helps mages recover from blot accumulation). So I think it's supposed to be a combination of these factors (although fans have suggested other ideas too) that explain away why no one is worrying about Silver's wellbeing this late into the dream hopping. Again though, his UM is probably designed this way as a plot contrivance to justify how he's able to visit so many dreams. In the most recent JP main story update, Silver mentions the limit he can handle when using his UM is ~10 bodies. He has just reached that cap (himself, Sebek, Yuu, Grim, Ace, Deuce, Cater, Trey, Ortho Leona; Idia is also there, but he is present via his tablet while his actual body remains elsewhere so I'm not sure if he counts). At the end of Trey's dream, it seems that they're able to leap into Riddle's dream just fine so I don't think there's really an issue.

I mentioned it my earlier reblog but I've just gotta say that the way this fandom treats Mrs Rosehearts is actually vile. Is she a bad parent? Yes. Is she absuive? Yes. But my god it's awful how she is written or drawn being assaulted, mutilated, murdered, run over/crushed/etc and everyone is cheering on about "that bitch getting what she deserves." People gleefully going on and on and on about how they want to murder or assault her as violently as possible is horrific.

It's mysogny, obviously, I know that. But it's still so awful to see, especially since even I was guilty of things. Graphic violence against women as "punishment" for any form of wrong is so normalised that it's considered a normal reaction to "someone as horrible as her" but then I look at Mr Rosehearts and Leona's father and Idia's parents and Lilia and so on where even though they too were harmful or abusive (intentionally or otherwise) to their children, they are adored and loved.

The Knight of Dawn fights for an oppressive, colonising empire and has absolutely killed people but hey he says some nice things so he's obviously an innocent sweetiepie who just has the best intentions, he would've been a wonderful dad awww. And of course there's Lilia and all the "Lol he's so silly he forgot child Silver and Sebek in the woods for 3 days oopsie look at the funny comic I drew of it dw he feels bad" treatment he gets.

It's just. It's so infuriating. I know what Mrs Rosehearts does to Riddle is bad, but she does not deserve the treatment she gets, ESPECIALLY when Mr Rosehearts, who is absusive too because of his lack of action and emotional distance from Riddle (neglect is abusive too), is treated like a sad little victim who's "abused by that awful bitch." Riddle has two parents. Don't place all blame for everything on one.

Looking at Malleus and Silver art with them having long hair…do you think they didn’t have them in the event because of how they would look similar to their parents? And how that might affect Lilia? (I doubt the events would go that deep, but it’s an interesting thought nonetheless)

Malleus with long hair would look like his Mother, Meleanor.

Silver would look like his bio father, the Knight of Dawn.

Seeing his past in the present through his boys.

But even then, I believe Lilia would see past that.

He would see beyond the shadows of the past.

See that, right now, his boys are the present and the future.

The harbingers of peace which will bridge the gap between races, something Lilia already started.

The past was wrought with hatred and death.

The present is full of love, forgiveness, and hope.

(Besides, Lilia would love decorating their hair and making cute styles)
