Roman knew that conversation was about him, which made him nervous talking to you. It wasn't the first time you piqued his interest, how your wardrobe changed according to the weather, and how meticulous you get about the garden's appearance. You fascinated him. He also felt relief hearing you didn't want to sleep with him. Intimacy was his grey area, and he loved not feeling pressure to do it.

Roman waited a few seconds before emerging and speaking up, “Uh, my dad um, just wanted to know what you were doing out here,” Oh my god. He undoubtedly heard you. You wanted to curl up and die or resign out of embarrassment. Maybe he JUST got here, let's hope.

You turned to face him, feeling your face flush, “Oh, just heading out, looking when the next train is going out,” You put on a smile, hoping it makes you seem coy. It didn’t. Even if he didn’t overhear you, your face was beet red and your hands were slightly shaking.

“Well, I was about to head out, maybe, I can give you a ride? Or get a drink somewhere?” You could've sworn your face turned scarlet. Holy Shit. You stood in awe for a second, unable to fathom the words he spat out. “Um, y/n? Are you having a heat stroke or something?” He shields his eyes, feeling the heat against his skin, “He is a piece of shit for making you work out here, wow.”

You finally grasped what he said, “Y-yeah it’s actual hell out here, but going out sounds fun yeah.” You tried your best to sound easygoing after facing the worst embarrassment you've ever endured.

“Cool, uh, my driver is downstairs already,” he said in a merciful tone, gesturing for you to exit first.

The car ride was mostly silent. A few questions got thrown out asking about your job to ease the drive. The bar was incredibly upscale, feeling out of place arriving in your work clothes. Roman did his best to make you feel comfortable, he paid for the tab, and reserved a quiet area; he was trying to impress you. He asked about your life while you tried your best to pry about his.

“C’mon, tell me about something not so surface,” you paw at him, the two of you facing each other. You scanned his face as he took a sip of his drink, patiently waiting for his response.

He set the drink down, slightly smiling to himself because of the comeback he came up with, “So you could know ‘the real Roman Roy?’"

tbh i had to watch most of this movie with one hand over my eye and i was not. even going to reread the book because i don’t actually care about it much anymore but about twenty or so minutes into the movie? i literally stopped it and skimmed half the book finished the movie and then finished the book. so it’s possible that this influenced my whole experience of the movie but i remembered the book super well anyway and either way i think the thing i would have been most mad about is HOW COULD THEY LEAVE OUT JUNE and who tf is miguel omg. imagine deciding to combine two women into one character just because they “play the same role in alex’s life” and then not even doing it that well. nora isn’t even IN this movie she doesn’t even have a CHARACTER they just shoehorn her and pez together and give them five min of screentime. bea doesnt even have much of a character either i also thought maybe she and nora were going to be friends but no that disappeared after the first 15min. and because june doesn’t exist and because rafael luna doesn’t exist and because nora barely exists (all of whom are the main poc characters in the book btw) alex’s character is not half as nuanced as it could be. his arc about realising he’s bi is totally missing which is great…also his actor’s enunciation was very puzzling at times but i forgive him because of all the times i got distracted staring at his eyelashes and he was good at times tho henry’s actor is probably the best actor in the movie (not a tall bar btw but he’s way better than uma thurman GIRL WHAT WERE YOU DOING WITH THAT ACCENT) and it’s not that they don’t have chemistry or fun sweet romcom moments it’s just that i’m missing so much. romance. im tired of modern romance novels and movies having their leads get together super fast without spending much time on characterization and without even having much capital R-romance in the first place. where is the e-mo-tion in the immortal words of miss carly rae jepsen…like why did they leave out so much of the emails i cannot believe i watched so many random voice-overs and they couldn’t include the emails. also the small random change that bothered me the most is that they changed their first meeting being rio at the olympics to the climate melbourne conference (?????) and made their whole relationship pre-movie a lot less interesting. umm they did good with the interview and their interactions pre and post the cake but then they abandoned all of that half an hour in. do think the physical comedy is always way more fun to watch in a visual medium like that cake scene was hilarious they were just worse at the emotional beats. guys they used bad reputation 😭😭😭😭 i had to pause at that point…i had to pause and recover for ages. the get low scene contained a lot of Choices. the Choices were all very interesting and im not sure what more can be said about them. the beginning was fairly solid then everything sort of went downhill felt like i was watching a train wreck. mildly entertaining and occasionally moving train wreck but regardless a train wreck. btw let no one claim the political commentary in the novel is good but at least it slightly exists. the politics in the movie are completely spineless and extremely confused. yes it’s an amazon prime royalty romcom so what can u expect but they just hovered on the threshold of criticism. when they didn’t actually show a crowd of people supporting them or w/e but just showed the reflection of them in the window i almost started laughing. alex’s speech at the end lacked any subtlety at all and made no sense (why tf would he make a speech coming out + explaining his relationship with henry Before he talked to henry or the royal family???) the script is like constantly having characters say really obvious things. shoutout to stephen fry’s line delivery at least. there was a perfume genius cover of can’t help falling in love (it was supposed to be your song that played there anyway???). what more can be said.

Kaveh smiles before nodding, “I agree! There really isn’t enough past to make a meaningful story… We fell in love almost right away, not a very interesting story.”

Alexis, suddenly looking antsy, almost ashamed (yet clearly hiding elation) mumbles into her hands, “I was going to go with Wonderwall…”

Alexios doesn’t prode further but their smile a bit wider then her usual polite one.

some stranger things headcanons(mostly ending up being ramblings bc im autistic)! feel sososo free to share yours with me or ask if i have any for a specific character! and shoutout to my bestie griffin for helping me come up with some of these

•max leaves like the most random shit in mikes locker. like he’ll open it and find like an origami armadillo or a piece of macaroni covered in glitter or like a singular fuzzy christmas sock. he has no idea its her(everyone else knows). he shows up to lunch every day with the item and gets more and more terrified every day.

•eddie has nicknames for all of the kids bc he loves them and hes alive and happy. he calls max ginger snap or little orphan annie or something along those lines and she acts pissed off but she loves it. he calls lucas number 8 bc even if he doesnt like basketball, he supports his kids in anything they do. dustin is just henderson ofc or the occasional like curly sue or smthn of that nature. he obvi calls erica lady applejack or miss america. he calls mike training wheel(nancy is steering wheel and holly is tricycle) or michael in the most ominous way possible. he calls will lil buddy or “sir william the wise, my lord” while doing the most dramatic curtsy ever, no in between. he calls el stupid shit like elton john or eleanor roosevelt and if hes greeting her he just asks her what number hes thinking of. i just love him and want him to be happy.

•el and mike are lesbian and gay solidarity argue with the wall. they were the first to find out about the other’s crush on max/will and they both encourage each other to go for it. el especially bc she hears how much will talks about mike. mike tries to get info from max but shes just like oh my god leave me alone(lovingly, ofc) with the reddest face ever and mike is like 🤔.

•max sees erica like a little sister and vice versa.

•will, robin, max, and eddie tell eachother all about their relationships/crushes and it ends in a nightmare every time. will told them about something really stupid mike said and eddie brought it up, laughing, at hellfire and mike was like “oh my god i fucked up so badly that will told eddie” and eddie tries to come up with another explanation like will wasnt the only other person there. “nonono, it wasnt will that told me! it was… nancy! she was… in the… bushes! for uhm……. newspaper stories???” and mike just thinks about it for the rest of the day

•idc abt canon they all go to lucas’s games and theyre huge dorks about it. they make signs and everything and then have a party at steves house regardless of whether they won or he even got to play. steve also helps lucas practice sometimes and is always like “go easy on me im old.”

•steve and robin worked a good few jobs in the months between the mall getting destroyed and the family video. they were there for maybe a week before one of them got fired(steve) and the other quit in protest bc theyre besties and share one braincell.

•lucas is a history kid, dustin and el are math kids, mike and max are english kids, and will is a science and art kid.

•steve hates his house because its always so lonely and he tells robin this like once in passing and she just shows up randomly with a duffel bag with her pjs and stuff. she probably has a key at this point so like he’ll get back from the shower or smthn and she’ll just be sitting on his bed watching tv like she lives there(she pretty much does), not that he minds obvi. he loves hanging out with her

•will and el are practically inseparable. they tell each other absolutely everything and have “sleepovers” once a week. when will realized that el doesnt know her birthday, he decided that they were gonna share his because everyone already jokingly calls them the wonder twins anyway. i literally just adore them and want more content with them.

•dustin and max will argue over the absolute dumbest stuff EVER. absolutely anything and everything. like max threatened to kill him over whether els shoes were mustard yellow or yellow-orange.

•mike acts like he hates steves guts when he finds out he likes eddie. like he’ll regularly be like “wow, you date my sister and now you’re going after my mentor.” and steve is just like “yeah, and ill go after your mom next. pipe down.”

•nancy and argyle vibe like no other and not a single person understands how. jonathan jokes that he cant believe his best friend would leave him for his ex and they all think its really funny.

•robin and steve cant spell restaurant or communicate or fairly simple words like that. they pass a singular braincell back and forth wand it probably belongs to nancy.

•steve taught all of the kids other than max how to drive. eddie taught max while steve had to like hold robins hand because of how nervous he was.

•dustin has zero rhythm(affectionate).

•el sat hopper down and asked him about his intentions with joyce like an overprotective dad when they got back from russia and always messes with him about the three inches rule.

•will gets along really well with nancy and holly. sometimes he’ll show up at the wheeler house and mikes pleasantly surprised to see him, thinking will there to see his bf but hes actually there for a tea party that holly invited him to or for his scheduled gossip session with nancy and probably steve, max, and el.

•el is an avid abba stan. she and will regularly end up having dance parties in her room when she plays it. argyle always joins in if hes over and jonathan does too, but not before he gets a couple of pictures bc he loves them a lot.

•eddie and robin smoke together on the occasion(they cried one time bc robin turned off the lights on accident and they were convinced they both went blind).

Nnoitra feat. Tesla

Honestly you're lucky he likes you so much had anyone else even tried to say something like that they wouldnt be living past it

Nnoitra is mean very mean and will tell right away that if you became a worm he would let you get crushed or eaten and not feel bad

If you want something slightly nice you need to get Tesla involved ask him if he would keep you safe as a worm and wait for Nnoitra to just need to one up him

Tesla plays along without any problems " Of course Y/N should you ever become a worm I will do my best to keep you safe until you go back to being you"

Nnoitra is not happy, not only because you seem so happy about that but also because it makes it seem like Nnoitra cant protect you

It takes nothing more for him to make a big deal about why HE would be the one to love you as fucking worm

Nnoitra seemed like he was in a good mood today after being gone for a few hours he came back boasting about the newest fight he'd won. As things were begining to calm down it seemed liked the perfect chance to ask the question I'd seen floating around the internet lately. " Hey Nnoitra" "Hmm" He glanced over " Would you still love me if I were a worm"? It's almost funny how fast his attention snaps to me " Are you being serious right now.... ya know what, doesnt matter if you were a worm I wouldnt have started loving you." Aizen

The most unamused look you've ever gotten from him, as long as you ask when he's in a good mood its just a huff and stare as he waits for you to explain further

Tell him why you want to know and understand that he needs a reason as to why you become a worm in the first if you want a good response say its because of Szayelaporro

If its captian Aizen you'll get a nice response anyway but blame Mayuri if you want to see a glimsp of the real him

Captain Aizen might say something along the lines of " You would never have to worry about my love for you fading I would simply find a way to help you"

Now if you involved the idea that someone did it to you no matter what side of him you know the reaction is far more agresssive

" If he's truly dumb enough to do something like be sure that I would not only get you back from that sad state I would make sure the pain he felt was worse then death" Now as a captain that might be more of a mumble but the real Aizen says it bluntly and its a soft as you can get from him

It's sometimes hard to believe that Aizen chose me to stand by his side to think someone like him could love, it still seems so odd. Maybe that's why I find it so fun to try and mess with him? " Oh lord Aizen! " Yes my love" He welcomes me immediately, opening his arms for me to sit with him upon the throne. " Would you still love me if I were a worm?" Grimmjow makes it so easy to tease him he gets red at the smallest hints of affection and all jumpy when it comes to being honest about his love for another perhaps that's why I wanted to ask. " Hey Grimmy would you love me if I were worm" Why would I" Hmm I should have gussed that well then time to up the ante" That's really mean Grimmjow so what you wouldnt care at all how crule" He scowls some " Hey thats not what I said" It kinda is" He pulls me to his side aggerssively nuzzling the top of my " Of course I would care if somethin happened to you but being a worm is just stupid alright….now dont pout like that." Ulquiorra

Gives it real thought and at first that seems nice but his answer wont be that kind....at first

A lot like with the others you almost have to coax a nicer answer unlike the others though its never that romantic with Ulquiorra but it can be nice-ish

Asking outright will get a blunt answer of " No. Should you become a worm I cant see why I would love you as such, however I will make sure you get back to your normal self"

He just wont care at first so a little push is needed if you want more then that and even then it wont be the sweetest thing but is much nicer

Once more blaming Szayelaporro is going to be your best choice here but not just in theory tell him it was a threat ( It probably was) and the answer in return is better as he becomes protective

" I would never allow him to do something like that to you but should that ever occur I will make sure you are well taken care of while he fixes it" While it might not be the most romatinc thing it is meaninful coming from him

Sometimes boredom is a person's worst enemy even more when you can't just leave to find something to do. In that quiet place however ideas can strike at any time and today that idea as many others before it involved Ulquiorra. Recently Szayelaporro had been talking about an experiment he'd been looking into and that was a wonderful place to start. " Ul-qui-or-ra'' Yes y/n" would you still love me if I were a worm." I hear the sigh before he looks at me " I would not, however I will make sure you are safe while the problem gets fixed" I should have guessed as much yet I couldn't help but want more " Well would you be upset? Or what if Szayelaporro turned me into a worm would that change anything?" Maybe it sounded desperate but is it wrong to want something more. " How silly" Silly? I mean sure the question is silly but my worries aren't. " If you must know, yes I think I would miss you. It becomes rather lonely when you're not here. However it's odd that you think I would even let that happen. You are under my care as my partner I will not allow any harm to come to you do you understand." Ulquiorra walked over to me resting his hand upon my head and if one looked closed enough you could see his lips curved in the smallest hint of a smile

Kenpachi feat Yachiru

Almost wont give you answer about it, wait a little and he will, it becomes an oddly sweet moment

Now its really easy to ask him as more often then not Kenpachi is happy to let you talk about or ask strange things since thats just you the best part is that Yachiru will join in on the fun

Though the question does throw him off he just shurgs it off to start after all this is a normal thing for you so he's not worried about giving you a staright answer

This is where Yachiru comes in. She also wants to know after all she know if she became a worm you and Kenny would keep her safe and Yachiru tells you she plans to make sure you live a good life as a worm so Kenny should tell you that too

After hearing that Kenpachi will give you an answer a very well thought out on for both you and Yachiru its going to be one the few times you get the sweetness

" I would do anything to keep ya safe Y/N no matter what or who I have to go through. If you became a worm nothing would stop me from getting ya back and making sure you're okay you got that. And Yachiru obviously I would keep ya safe till we could get you back worm or not"

With nothing else to do asking Kenpachi those odd questions in the back of my mind seemed like a good plan. Its not like he would be bothered by it so no harm done right? " Heyy Kenpachi if I were a worm would you still love me?" Nothing.... I guess it wouldnt shock me if he was napping but I was sure he should have heard me " Kenpachi answer me cmon" Again nothing he just shifted some turning his body to face my from where he was laying " You know silence is also an answer so I'll just take it as a no" I pout some turning my nose up and wait " Alright alright no need for that" His gruff voice calls out " Look at me first" For a guy as big as Kenpachi he's so quiet I hadn't even noticed he moved this close " Look I cant say I would love you if I met you AS a worm but if you ever became a worm I would stop at nothing to get you back" Even though I knew he had more to say it didnt stop me from throwing myself in his arms and all he did was laugh, pulling me in and resting me on his lap " No matter who or what I had to fight I would keep ya safe and sound with Yachiru's help and make sure you get back to being you so dont forget that " The feel of his lips on my head make me smile. Who would have thought my silly little question would get him to say so much.

Szayelaporro

Szayelaporro will laugh not in the same way Grimmjow does no this is far worse more evil and it makes you not want to ask why but thats to bad because he plans on telling you why

" Oh Sweet thing of course I wounldnt. If you became a worm its most likely that I was the reason for it."

He doesnt hold back for any reason and thus the only way to get him to be even alittle nice about it is to carry on with that conversation, to ask qustions about it

" Why you ask hahaha well its quite simple if I were willing to do something like that its because I no longer care you...However if something else where to do that to you I could fix it

He brushes by anything else you might say but expect him to be a tad more affectionate after this in a way he veiws this as you saying he hasnt been a good enough partner

Honestly he doesnt think much of it after that but its good little reminder that in some way he does care for you and this is a good way to find out just how much

It's hard to say what made me want to ask him something like this after all knowing Szayelaporro he wouldnt be happy to be asked something so childish. Maybe it was to see if he would care or maybe just because I wanted to know how far I could push him before he got sick of dealing with me, it's hard to say but that didnt stop me from asking. " Szayelaporro if I became a worm would you still love me?" He doesnt bother to stop with whatever he's doing " hahaha My sweet thing if you became a worm isnt it smarter to think I'm the one who did it" Well that doesnt answer my question" " If I did that you should know it means I dont love you, now are we done?" Of course I knew something like this would happen but it still hurts to hear in an odd way " So does that mean you love me now" I could feel the shake of my voice " I see so thats what this is about. I treat you well yes? I make sure to keep you safe from both my tests and the others that raom here, I spend my time with you and seek you out for things outside of work. This might not be love but I do care for you sweet thing" My face felt hot and I could feel the wetness slowing trailing from my eyes. I move before I think, burying my head in his chest I let myself collapse against him and to my shock he lets me, guiding me back to the couch and curling around me we sit in the silence together.

So a few things one I know most of this is so ooc and like thats to be expected but I want to say that I havent seen much on any of the Espada due to where I'm at in the anime and two I now know I love writing szayelaporro so much because I can be so mean with it but still give him some kindness towards his lover and thats fun. actor!mikey is always checking on his co-stars after filming a fight scene. ‘i didn’t hit you did i?’ is definitely something he always says.

i can honestly imagine the tokyorev cast being very fucking funny… i feel like actor!mitsuya always laughs during a serious scene (same with actor!takemichi like he could just be filming a scene where he is supposed be getting beat up or crying and just die laughing)

actors that forget their lines the most have to be baji, chifuyu, draken (emma stays laughing her ass off at him) … i think actor!kazutora is always asking the director if he can help with camera because it looks fun “wait, can i help with this scene?” he says while running off set.

what baji, chifuyu and draken do/say when they forget their lines

baji - i think he’ll look directly at the camera with a certain face and everyone will just know and start laughing at him “don’t laugh at me!” he says while laughing at himself.

chifuyu - “fuck” i think he says that a lot especially when he forgets his lines and he definitely over-exaggerates it a lot but not in a bad way more in a funny dramatic way.

draken - he can’t be serious, i think he stumbles over his words and covers his mouth with his hand to start giggling about it so he would definitely be like “i am so sorry” while dying of laughter.

all of them find dying scenes funny, they mess up the scenes by saying something cringy other than lines or making a funny face while there supposed to be seriously dead in the scene.

um … baji & chifuyu really do be bestfriends on set and on the show, they are always play fighting and ruining eachothers scenes on purpose “oh—i’m sorry was i in your shot?” and they definitely end up having a bunch of interviews together (when the whole cast has an interview together it is definitely chaotic and most of them can’t sit still).

actor!naoto makes fun of his serious look

actor!hanma has a spritz bottle laugh that ends up literally killing everyone during a scene

actor!hina doesn’t forget her lines but her placements during a scene everyone (especially takemichi) has to remind her “hina your supposed to be over here” and she’s just like “oh-“ like she’ll being doing a scene and end up doing a certain hand movement or gesture she isn’t supposed to do but they end up going with it anyways AND she definitely makes fun of the death scenes and laughs when takemichi has to film a crying scene with her and he’s just like “are you laughing at my tears again?”

actors!peh & pah have to always be running off somewhere, literally no one can ever find them when it’s there turn to film…

actor!kisaki is always defending his character tbh and whenever someone tries to get on him about it he is like “ok but didn’t you character do *insert random thing that can be held against them* though”. i also feel like he is always fucking with the props (baji too! he definitely breaks something and is like “aw shit” cause he knows he is gonna get in trouble)

actor!mitsuya IS LIKE TOM HOLLAND THAT ONE TIME … lemme just show you WATCH. actor!hakkai gets on him about it all them time like “dude you are gonna get fired STOP” and he is definitely the one to have to watch him on interviews

actor!sanzu is always fucking up his makeup by accident and always has to go back to the makeup trailer like “yeah… it smeared again” (he pisses the makeup artist off THEY KNOW HE DOESNT MEAN TO THOUGH) like he’ll wipe his face with his hand and forget he has on important makeup

actors!emma and draken are always making fun of each other and i do feel like they would be the ones to actually end up dating in real life

actor!senju is hyper and is always running around on set, i think actor!wakasa laughs a lot during scenes and enjoys his lollipops (a real life sweetheart though)…

actor!taiju has to swear he isn’t mean to his fans “don’t be afraid to talk to me guys”ANDDDD is a real life sweetheart

actors!hakkai and yuzuha give off real sibling energy though … they embody it so well (they are definitely best friends in real life and always being seen at events together)

actors!mikey and draken are bestfriends irl also and they are always being seen together ON set and OFF set, always eating and having long drawn conversations, their trailers are across from eachothers… (also with baji and chifuyu and kazutora they are always in one of the others trailer tbh)

actor!ran does his own braids tbh, always fucking up props and always laughing

actor!rindou definitely pulls pranks (he just looks suspicious) with his co-star baji (you already know his ass be pulling pranks) and i think draken be pulling them too especially on mikey and he just be like “bro…” definitely be beating they ass fr MIKEY IS DEFINITELY THE MOM OF EVERYONE LOL

actors!smiley and angry are brothers in real life of course and definitely pop up a lot in the bloopers together … literally always getting in trouble, always in one of their co-stars trailer, always missing with pah & peh lol (OH AND angry can’t be serious for nothing… especially when filming them crying scenes)

they all get on eachothers nerves, they all LOVE there fans like they love to piss yall off (mostly .. BAJI, mitsuya, draken, emma & hina (loves to piss yall off TOGETHER) and chifuyu and SANZU (he is always fw yall PLS)

actor!hanma claims he dating all his fans when he gets asked who is he dating “literally my fans” (mikey, baji, mistuya and chifuyu too)

LASTLY when the whole cast has to do a table read they are just as invested as WE are … complaining, coming for eachother, laughing and definitely crying at the scenes they have to later film… yall they have so much fun together, the whole cast is more like a big ass friend group.

punz loves and respects you more than anyone else. as your boyfriend, he knows it's scary to come out to a large mass of people— so, you two keep your relationship a secret.

punz doesn't care about what people think though. if it was his choice, he'd be flaunting you as much as he could. he only dated the best anyways.

doesn't mean he doesnt flirt with you on stream though: lets the occasional nickname slip out and covers it up as a bit.

the second he sees someone being homophobic in his chat though? they're immediately banned. he doesn't bring attention to the situation, even if it does leave a sour taste in his mouth.

if you happen to see it, and get a bit self conscious, he's immediately telling chat that he has to go.

he's joining you in a voice chat and making sure you're okay. he knows you like the back of his hand though, so even if you try to tell him that you're fine, he doesn't let you get away with it.

"i can tell you're not fine. you don't have to lie to me about this type of stuff. i'm here to help."

he's always had a way with words, that stupidly soothing voice of his making you tell him your feelings (you don't mind, punz has just always had a knack to getting you to talk).

he comforts you while also making you laugh, something he's also always had a knack for. you welcome the insults to the other person and the appreciative comments.

he always does overexeggerated 'mwah' sounds into his mic as well, purely because it makes you laugh.

"that person is a fucking idiot. don't let them get you down, alright? you're better than them, babe. fuck what that guy thinks."

again, sapnap does not give a fuck about what anyone thinks. if you'd let him, he'd unapologetically flirt with you on stream. nicknames, flirty banner— anything to hear the laugh leave your lips.

you want to keep it private though, so he respects your wishes.

he may still flirt with you on stream though; anything regarding from a bad sex joke to terrible flirting.

"[name], [name]— are you my homework? because i'm tryna slam you against the table and—"

"please don't finish that sentence."

the second he sees anyone being homophobic though? he's livid.

if it's someone on twitter, sapnap knows better than to bring attention to some random homophobe. he'll block the person and move on, but will always be pissed when he thinks back to it.

if it's a dono or a chat message, he's telling them to shut the fuck up and asking the mods to ban him. he doesn't condone that type of shit, especially when he knows you're watching.

besides that though, sapnap never fails to make dating him enjoyable, even if it's in private.

he loves calling you any nickname he can think of: baby, pumpkin, darlin', sugar. anything that makes you smile makes him call you it more than once.

"baby, come here. i wanna show you how cool and awesome i am."

"c'mon, pumpkin, my super amazing boyfriend, my baby, my husband—"

if you do ever want to come out, he's posting an instagram story of your hands intertwined. it's simple and doesn't exactly give you away, so it's perfect in his opinion.

he's happy to date you whether you want to make it public or keep it private; being public means he gets to rub it in everyone's faces that he's dating you though.

your safety and comfort is one of sam's top priorities. if you don't want to come out with your relationship, he doesn't mind. he's always been more private as well.

if you let him, he does still flirt with you on stream though. always making sly comments about taking you on a date or something else of that nature.

"i mean, i always thought you were the cutest one out of us, [name]."

if he sees anyone being homophobic on twitter though, especially someone of his own community, he's blocking them and making sure everyone knows that hatred of any kind isn't welcome.

the same goes for people in his chat; although, he doesn't think they're worth even calling out. he just gets one of his mods to ban them.

he usually calls you honey. he doesn't know why, it just suits you. plus, you always get a smile on your face and he thinks it's adorable.

if you two did come out, sam would have no shame of you two. nothing really changes in streams and stuff, although he does leave a heart at the end of all his messages with you.

will ramble about redstone to you. something new he built, something he finally got right; he will talk about it until you make him be quiet (even though you'd never do so, you love listening to him talk).

helps you with any redstone related or coding related issue for you. he won't do everything for you, but he will make sure you know what to do.

if you're a streamer, he's always in your chat. definitely tier three subbed to you. he's also always watching your streams somehow? man has so many channel points and flaunts them.

if you two do come out, he's seen clips of people calling you two their dads. he's brought it up to you before and you both think it's cute.

debunking pro-snape/anti-james arguments and putting it on the internet because clearly i hate myself. buckle up. this is gonna be a VERY long post. im ready for the amount of hate i will get; im willing to take one for the team. 

1. james forced lily into dating/marrying/etc him 

this literally never happened? because its almost as if lily is her own person who is able to stand up for herself-

“I wouldn’t go out with you if it was a choice between you and the giant squid,” said Lily.

“LEAVE HIM ALONE!” Lily shouted. She had her own wand out now. James and Sirius eyed it warily.

She turned on her heel and hurried away [from james]. 

-and so she would not allow someone to walk all over her. its almost as if james (canonically) matured as a person, and she appreciated this, realised he was a good person and got feelings for him? because james’ only negative traits were that he was conceited and a show off. people are able to mature and grow from these things! james did this! he did not ‘force’ lily to go out with him!

2. james and the other marauders bullied snape

you know what, i cant even disagree with this one. you’re right - they did bully him. but lets look a little bit at the context. 

sirius and james were both upper class, naive white rich boys. they are idiots. they were both stupid smart teenagers!! they were popular! and while this does not excuse the gross bullying snape was subject to-

Several people watching laughed; Snape was clearly unpopular ... Snape was trying to get up, but the jinx was still operating on him; he was struggling, as though bound by invisible ropes.

-it (unfortunately) makes sense with context. james and sirius also stopped bullying people, and even expressed discomfort/regret with the way they acted-

“I’m not proud of it,” said Sirius quickly.

“Of course he was a bit of an idiot!” said Sirius bracingly, “we were all idiots!

A lot of people are idiots at the age of fifteen. He grew out of it.

-when they were younger! i’d also like to point out these little lines i noticed when i was finding quotes for my argument which snape stans like to ignore:

James and Snape hated each other from the moment they set eyes on each other

I mean, he [snape] never lost an opportunity to curse James

there was a flash of light and a gash appeared on the side of James’s face, spattering his robes with blood

wow, look at that. the hate they felt for each other was mutual! snape also jinxed james! but oh wait - james was the one who matured! snape was the one who bullied his son twenty years later because he looked like james! 

3. snape didnt abuse the kids at hogwarts 

here’s a real argument i saw when looking through some pro-snape posts: ‘snape wasn’t an abuser, because abusers don’t let their victims retaliate, but snape did let the kids talk back to him’

what. the. fuck?! 

this is the dictionary.com definition of abuse: ‘to treat in a harmful, injurious, or offensive way’ or ‘to speak insultingly, harshly, and unjustly to or about’. i’m pretty sure snape did both of these things-

“I don’t need help from filthy little Mudbloods like her!”

“So,” said Snape, gripping Harry’s arm so tightly Harry’s hand was starting to feel numb.

Snape threw Harry from him with all his might.

[hermione’s teeth]  "I see no difference."

‘Idiot boy!’ snarled Snape [at neville]

-on multiple occasions. i’d also like to remind you guys that neville’s worst fear is SNAPE?! his TEACHER, a figure that is supposed to be there for emotional and educational support is his worst fear in this entire world?! above the woman who drove his parents to insanity? over failure, over his abusive grandmother, over everything? his teacher? and for the pro-snaper that used this quote-

-to claim that it was a joke, it isn’t a joke. because when snape came out of that cupboard, he was terrified. yes, it’s an embarrassing thing to have as your boggart, but the point is is that it is. he is terrified of that man. 

4. james only joined the order because his wife was a muggleborn and he ‘had to’

this is just factually incorrect. james had been sticking up for muggleborn rights since he was in school, far before he started dating or even became friends with lily: 

“Apologize to Evans!” James roared at Snape, his wand pointed threateningly at him.

“I’d NEVER call you a - you-know-what!”

so this is literally not true!! plus, at least he did join the order, whatever his reasons where (which were canonically good). snape didnt join the order. snape was friends with someone who suffered discrimination in society, and instead of using his privilege to help her and support her, he joined a group that was set on murdering people like her. when james had a friend who underwent oppression (remus/lycanthropy) you know what he did? he illegally became an animagus. 

5. snape had to be a death eater to survive at hogwarts as he roomed with blood supremacists

this is the shittiest excuse i have ever seen in my entire life. as a poc, this comment really reminds me of the argument ‘i was raised in a racist white household! i cant control my beliefs!’

you can always control your beliefs. i understand not going on big rants about blood inequality in front of a bunch of supremacists, and i understand wanting to blend and fit in (especially because he was unpopular and needed the support the slytherin boys provided), but i will never understand then becoming an active member of the group yourself. he got the dark mark. he helped voldemort. he was a death eater, and a proud one at that! no-one forced him to join. this argument literally makes my blood boil. 

6. snape had a lot of trauma from being raised in an abusive household

okay? so did sirius. so did neville. luna was bullied at school, just like snape. harry lived in an abusive household. did any of those people bully children? did any of those people join a blood supremacist group? and dont get me wrong, im not calling any of these people perfect - they all had a lot of flaws - but none of them hurt another people to the extreme that snape did. 

7. snape saved the trio’s lives many times

this is the absolute bare minimum. ‘oh wow, he didnt let harry die!! what a king! he should be respected and praised! we should excuse all of his other actions because he didnt let people die <3′ 

8. snape is not a perfect person, he also did good that many people overlook

you’re right, snape did do some good things in his life. but unfortunately, for me and many others, doing a couple of good things doesnt excuse all of the shitty, abusive things he did too. we’re not ignoring them - we just dont think they’re good enough reasons to forgive him. 

‘but james and sirius hurt others! you ignore all the bad things they did in favour of the good!’ you do the same thing with snape, first of all. second, they did a lot of good stuff. james’ and sirius’ only crimes were being annoying. for being a bit of a dick, conceited, knew they were hot and were a bit entitled. while these things are annoying as fuck, they were also stupid teens that eventually grew out of their behaviour and became better people. not perfect! better. while snape just stayed bitter at the marauders, long after their deaths, and even took his anger out on an innocent child. 

9. people only hate snape because he was poc and queer coded

as a poc and queer person, please stop. this is a very bad excuse. being poc and queer (which im pretty sure he isnt, but anyway) doesnt excuse you from your actions. plus, a huge amount of harry potter readers are poc and lgbtq. why would they hate snape for those reasons?! 

so thats all i got for today. im not gonna go into a deep snily/jily thing because i literally cannot be bothered. anyway im done. i need to go revise, i’ve already spent long enough on this.

May 6th, 1978

One more month, Severus told himself. One more lousy month of being at Hogwarts, and he’d never have to come back here again. He’d never have to see the likes of James Potter, or his mutt, Sirius Black, anymore.

What could’ve been years of some form of happiness and learning, had quickly become misery and hatred for Severus. Yet again, Potter and Black had found a way to ruin his already dreadful day. They never knew when to quit and even when they did, they didn’t.

Regardless, Severus was ready to leave. He was ready to be amongst peers who’d value him as more than most - people who’d see him as an equal and not turn their nose up at him. He’d be respected, and should anybody disagree, well… he had something lined up for them.

For now, though, he was stuck there, accepting the sneers and looks of disgust from his classmates. He no longer had Lily, but he’d come to stop caring; she clearly wasn’t going to ever forgive him and he was too tired of trying.

Today was just another lousy day for the lone boy, but potions class always seemed to make it inwardly better. The smell of the ingredients usually received nasty looks from other students, but not Severus. No, he found comfort in the sour, malodorous smells of pickled additives. They kindled a warm feeling inside him, he found a home with them - one that made him feel almost safe in his isolated world.

He’d been chopping up Monkshood when the aforementioned boys decided they were going to mess with him. Unknowingly to Slughorn, James had discreetly raised his wand to mess with Severus’ cauldron and caused it to teeter towards the edge. Severus had luckily caught it in time, but not enough for a bit of the boiling water to spill on his hand. The knife that had been in his hand had ended up slipping and cutting a small part of his palm which resulted in Severus dropping the knife, and making it clank loudly onto the ground.

“Nice job, Snivellus. You can’t even keep control over your own cauldron.” Black jested, laughing at the scowl that caused angry lines to appear on Severus’ forehead.

“I’m no fool, Black, I know Potter was the one who did it.” He argued. He was too used to this and had a much too steady hand for it to have been his fault.

James posed innocence, “And how would I have done that, Snivellus?”

Severus clenched his fist, that damned nickname was working every one of his nerves. He balled his fists out of habit and curled his lip, “As daft as you are, I know you have something in that head of yours. Do not try to make me look like an idiot.”

“That’s enough, Mr. Snape,” Slughorn interrupted. “Mr. Potter, Mr. Black, get back to your own brews and please continue.” With that, he went back to walking around the room, correcting any students who had slipped up.

Just like that, Severus thought, Potter and Black had gotten away with their tormenting yet again. Not only could he not get back to his thoughts on his mixture, his hand was aching in pain and he needed more Monkshood since his was now cut incorrectly. Thinking of different ways to hex both of his long time enemies, Severus angrily diced and stirred.

Class had ended with no more mishaps (unless you include the boys quietly taunting him and not focusing on their own assignments) and Severus couldn’t remember a time he’d bolted out of the room as fast as he did then. He ignored all of the usual stares that were given to him, paid no attention to anything but the floor or his leather journal, and pushed forward to his next class.

The irate steps from his worn shoes clacked loudly in the stone halls while people shoulder bumped him, refusing to get out of his way. That in turn made him seethe even more. He never understood the loathe others had for him, but considering how far he was into his school years, in addition to him only being at Hogwarts for another month; Severus couldn’t find himself caring. He rounded the corner ferociously, the vexation in his body weeping out of him the more he thought about his dislike for the students there.

Because he was caught up in his thoughts, he failed to notice the girl he was about to collide with. By the time he tried to stop himself, and before the girl could also say something, their chests hit and she fell right on her bottom. Their books spilled everywhere and Severus muttered a few angry words to himself.

“Why don’t you watch where you’re going next time!” He snarled, unaware that he’d been the one to bump into her.

She looked up from her position on the floor and frowned, she was sure she hadn’t been the one to cause their predicament, “S-sorry, I didn’t see you.” She still apologized.

“How clever of you,” he snarked. “You made that obvious when you caused me to spill all of my belongings on the bloody ground.”

The girl flushed furiously, embarrassed from being called out and flustered from his rude tone. Her friend, who’d been previously walking with her, helped her pick up the scattered books. Severus hadn’t made a single move to do so, instead making sure he had everything before barely scraping past her and not saying another word.

“It was your fault, you arse!” He’d heard her friend yell at him. He didn’t care, maybe if she’d told her to watch out, he wouldn’t have been held up trying to collect his things.

His next classes had been tolerable and he’d made no quick moves to get to the Great Hall for dinner. He’d just be sitting alone yet again, either getting messed with by the Marauders, or bothered by the few Slytherins who also happened to dislike him. The thick, juicy steak coupled with the vegetables he was eating had made up for the terrible day he’d had, though.

He was midway into eating when he felt a pair of eyes on him, more specifically burning into the back of his head. He braved a chance at looking up to see who it was, expecting to see Potter or Black; instead, he saw the girl’s friend glaring at him.

She was staring daggers into him and it was seriously making him uncomfortable. Her eyes were piercing and her glower was sending a shiver up Severus’ spine. The girl, on the other hand, looked sheepish and apologetic, clearly she hadn’t asked for her friend to do this. She was trying to nudge her to stop looking and when her eyes caught his, she bit her lip and looked down, effectively avoiding his eyes.

He glared back at her friend and shook his head, turning around to try and ignore her sharp stare. He could still feel her eyes on his back and he rolled his. If she was going to be childish, then he wasn’t going to pay her any mind; he refused to feed into that.

May 7th, 1978

Severus’ day had been somewhat better than the previous one, except that girl’s friend, the one from the other day, would not stop staring at him. She’d made him so uncomfortable in the classes they shared. Severus hadn’t even known that the two of them had classes together until he felt that same glower on his back as he had the day before. She refused to break eye contact with him first and he hated it. He’d always have to turn around, or else they’d be caught sharing glares back and forth for the entire class.

Severus didn’t know what her problem was. Although, he’d eventually concluded that it had to do with the girl he’d bumped into. It wasn’t like he’d done it on purpose, hell she wasn’t paying attention either. Blowing up on her wasn’t what he intended to do (okay, maybe it was but he felt kind of bad now) but he did, and the outcome obviously wasn’t good. Said girl hadn’t said anything to him, nor had she paid any attention to him, but if her friend was stabbing him with her eyes, the girl had to still be upset.

He decided that, after class, he would go and speak with her; apologize and hopefully get the girl’s hound- or friend, off his back. If she forgave him, and he really didn’t care if she did, than her friend would hopefully leave him alone. He just needed to know where she was.

The bell for dismissal rang and he hurried to get out before his watcher caught up with him. He’d done well avoiding her so far and he didn’t want today to be the day she caught up with him, especially not if he was on his way to apologize with her friend.

It’d taken him a good 15 minutes to find her, but he sighed in relief when he did. She’d been walking out of the girls’ lavatory and he slightly skipped over to her. Yet again, he caused them to crash into each other. It startled the girl and she looked at him with wide eyes then she quickly looked down, holding her arm and shifting her gaze from her shoes to the floor.

“Uh, about yesterday…” Severus started. “I’m, um, sorry about bumping into you…” he apologized, feeling his cheeks burn.

The girl looked into his eyes before looking away again and finding a fascinating interest at the illuminating torch on the wall. “It- it’s fine. I’m sorry too, for, um… bumping into you also.” She spoke, voice soft and meek.

Severus had to nearly strain to hear her voice, “No, that was also… my fault. S-sorry.” He pardoned.

“I forgive you.” She nodded, finally looking at him, but only for a second longer than before.

An awkward silence fell over the two as the other waited for one of them to speak up. Neither did, and Severus felt his body get warm at the uncomfortable hush. Going to make the first move, “Um… alright then.” He mumbled.

“Okay.” The girl responded. She watched him walk away with a slouched posture before she too went in the other direction.

May 8th, 1978

This was his luck. Or maybe it was the universe’s punishment for his constant rude behavior. Severus wasn’t sure. But he was positive that this was planned and he refused to believe otherwise. Of course, he’d be the one to be partnered up with the same girl he continued to bump into around every corner…

Professor Flitwick had decided that they were going to practice Ascendio on each other. Severus hated being paired with someone, and it didn’t happen often, but on the rare chances it did, it never went well. Either he’d be ignored by his partner, or his partner would purposely try and do it wrong just for the sake of a few giggles from the class. Severus always did his part well, because if he didn’t then they’d end up failing thanks to said partner.

The girl had at least shown some kind of hesitance to the notion, seeming as if she too was worried about what could happen. Nonetheless, she walked over to stand next to him, avoiding his eyes and listening intently to Flitwick. After the instructions had been given, Severus stood in front of her and chanted the incantation, lifting her off of the ground and placing her back down. He’d done it successfully, no surprise to himself, and dreaded the girl’s turn.

She timidly lifted up her wand and quietly casted the incantation, shocking Severus from his steadily rising position. She left him in the air a bit longer and it had worried him briefly before she started gently lowering her wand, and carefully placing him back down.

To say Severus was impressed was an understatement. Not only had she done the charm perfectly, but she also hadn’t made him stay in the air. She didn’t appear to care if anyone was looking to get a laugh or jump in to poke fun at him.

He stared at her for a while. He shouldn’t have been amazed at the sheer human decency she’d shown, but years of mistreatment and goading had taught him otherwise. She hadn’t acknowledged him staring yet but he turned away so he didn’t get caught.

Professor Flitwick had praised both him and her and passed them for the class, an act that made the girl’s eyes light up and a shy smile appear on her face. When she turned to look at Severus, her smile quickly fell from self-consciousness, making her look away from him.

May 9th, 1978

It had been exactly 3-4 days since Severus had met this girl, and in those days, he hadn’t once gotten her name. There was something about her, maybe it was how quiet she was, or it could’ve been that she hadn’t tried bullying or harming him in anyway, but Severus was intrigued by her.

He hadn’t heard her say anymore words than the ones she had when he apologized and she shared an apology of her own - he hadn’t even heard her speak when they were partnered together in charms. But he wanted to hear her voice, oddly enough. So far, she’d been polite to him, and as lame as it might’ve sounded, that had been enough for Severus. Maybe, if he was able to speak with her long enough, she’d be willing to form some kind of friendship with him. Then again, Severus didn’t want to get his hopes up.

He had left his previous class, and by Merlin’s grace, he’d yet again felt the impact of her body on his… “Again?” He complained.

The girl must’ve shared the same thought as he, because she too had a look of annoyance on her face. It was the first emotion Severus had deciphered on her face other than her bashful look. “S-sorry… again.” She murmured.

He shook his head to show her he didn’t mind (this time at least). “I don’t think I was able to get y-your name…” he stammered.

She blushed, hugging her books to her chest and biting her lip nervously, “Y-Y/n.” She responded. She had a strained expression on her face, one of contemplating, “W-what’s yours?” She asked.

“Severus!” He answered a little too quickly. He blushed heatedly and stuck one of his hands in his pockets, “It’s Severus.” He replied in a calmer voice.

Nodding her head, she peered at him before a look of realization set upon her face. She stooped down and sat her books she’d been previously holding down, pulling on her rucksack and grabbing a familiar book out. She stood back up, closer to eye level with Severus, “I um, I think this is yours.” She outstretched her hand towards him.

He took the offered book from her and nodded in cognizance at the item, “How’d you get this?” He asked.

“When we bumped into each other - the first time, I think my book g-got mixed with yours…” She explained. “W-would you by chance have mine?”

Severus nodded, now pulling his books out of his backpack, “I didn’t know where it’d come from, but now I assume t-that it belongs to you?”

She slowly took the book from him, “Thanks.” She spoke.

Severus saw her getting ready to walk off and swiftly caught her attention, “I noticed you made a few notes in there… somewhat of a modification to a couple of charms.”

Y/n looked flustered once more, “Yea, I- I like to find different ways to perform the spells… sometimes challenging m-myself…” she informed him.

That made Severus warm in his chest for a reason he couldn’t explain. Like he, she wrote side notes and corrections to old, outdated spells. He hadn’t heard much of other students doing so (when would he have anyway) and it caused a beat of excitement to pass through him.

Out of nowhere, he’d gotten a wave of confidence. He felt bold and somewhat brave, almost like a Gryffindor. No. No matter how brave Severus might’ve gotten, he’d never compare himself to something as awful as that, or even categorize himself with that House. The thought of him sharing his name in the same sentence as that made him want to sick up. 

“W-would you like to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?” He courageously asked. But her silence soon humbled him and he’d known that he probably shouldn’t have ever asked that. “It’s fine i-if you don’t want to - it was dumb of me to even ask…”

Y/n shook her head in variance, “No, I-I’d like that.” She admitted.

His face shined brighter than she’d seen and it also made a quirk of a smile appear on her full lips. “Okay… could we maybe, you know, meet at the Three Broomsticks?”

“Sure.” Severus agreed. “I’ll be there.”

May 10th, 1978

Another awful day spent at Hogwarts. Severus was counting down the days he had left more and more. If he wasn’t dealing with the Marauders, he was dealing with someone else. He knew he wasn’t completely innocent but at least he was only defending himself.

It had been in Defense when Black had pointed his wand towards Severus’ chair. Severus had been preparing himself to sit down when the chair slid from beneath him, making him fall flat on his bottom and drop his books. Out of instinct, he’d tried grabbing his desk to catch himself, but instead, he’d pulled it down with him. That in turn made his ink pot fall off, spilling onto the front of his used robes, and his quill poking his robe pocket.

He’d been embarrassed, as much as he hated to admit, and rushed to grab his things and get out of class. He’d heard the uproar of laughter from his peers and refused to let the tears that were threatening to form to fall from his eyes. He wasn’t going to give Black the satisfaction of making him upset, or least showing him that he had.

He’d gone to the restroom to clean himself up as best as he could, using his wand for anything he may have missed. He looked at himself in the mirror and shook his head. He didn’t like showing others an emotion that displayed anything other than anger, he deemed it as a weakness, and weakness meant vulnerability. He couldn’t afford to not be on his guard at all times.

With that thought in mind, he trudged back towards the classroom, ready to brace himself for the mocking stares that were going to be thrown his way. Thankfully, very few people had been paying attention to him and he was able to sit back in his seat. He noted the assignment on the board and, with one more cautious glance, he got to work.

There hadn’t been anymore incidents after that, to Severus’ bewilderment. He’d been able to complete all of his schoolwork for the day and even got a bit of studying in.

By the time the end of the day rolled around, Severus was nervous with the thought of hanging out with Y/n. Now that he’d thought about it he didn’t know why he offered to go to Hogsmeade with her. Sharing a butter beer and - maybe - having a nice conversation with her was frightening the harder he mused. She rarely spoke and he wasn’t exactly a good conversation starter, all things considered.

Still, though, he had a desire to want to know her. And now that Severus had paid attention, they might’ve been more similar than he initially realized. They both were quiet, she seemed to do well in the only class that Severus had with her, and she was noticeably shy. She at least had a friend, but if today went well, then she’d have two and Severus would have made one.

He got up to his dorm, ignoring everyone in the common room and by the stairs, and placed his things on his trunk. He tried asking one of his roommates the time, but they hadn’t even acknowledged his presence, nor made a move to do so. But if Severus knew time well enough, than he had a possible hour before he had to go meet the girl.

Doing his best to try and look presentable, Severus had taken a shower, carefully brushed his teeth, and even styled his hair as best he could. He still wasn’t happy with his appearance, however, Y/n had seen him in his every day wear and if she’d had a problem with it then, she wouldn’t have accepted his offer. Or maybe she was just being nice, and taking into account how shy she seemed to be, she might’ve just been too scared to say no.

Severus had started doubting himself. What if she really didn’t want to hangout with him and he’d made a fool out of himself? Was she even the kind of girl who’d want to hangout with him? Well, she didn’t have anyone else really, and it wasn’t like people were knocking her over to try and get to her. No, that wasn’t a nice thought. She’d said yes nonetheless, and there Severus was trying to nitpick.

Looking back, Severus had definitely spent longer debating if he should go than he had getting ready - and now he regretted it. He wore his usual garments, not having many anyway, and felt a wave of uneasiness that he hadn’t at least tried to find something else to wear. He hadn’t been working with much, but he’d still tried to look his best.

The walk to Three Broomsticks was peaceful and allowed Severus a temporary peace and quietness. The spring flowers were blooming and the grass was green as ever. The former damp, dark sky was now brighter and the clouds that had once been in the way now parted to allow the sun some spotlight. The air outside was crisp and the soft breeze that flew past made Severus feel relaxed.

When he arrived to Hogsmeade, he saw the usual amount of students there; he couldn’t remember a time there weren’t fellow classmates wandering about. He walked towards the place he and Y/n were to meet and opened the door. No one had minded his presence, everyone too caught up in their own conversations and enjoying a nice day away from Hogwarts or their jobs.

Looking around, Severus hadn’t seen Y/n. He stood by the doorway, scanning the room, and still failed to catch her. He hadn’t known he’d been blocking the entry until an older, husky man had nudged him out of the way in order to get to one of the few unoccupied tables.

Severus felt discomfiture creep up on him - of course she hadn’t come. He obviously had his hopes higher than reality had been, and had once again been disappointed. He was a fool to think that someone had actually wanted to be friends with him. This was exactly why he kept to himself; there were no expectations to uphold and he knew what he was getting with himself. He dejectedly turned around to walk out. That was when he felt a tap on his arm.

He turned around to see the girl he’d been thinking about for those past few days days. She had a confused look on her face, probably from seeing his expression and noticing that he appeared to have been leaving. She frowned for a brief second before tilting her head towards a table in the far back, away from all of the noise up front.

He hadn’t noticed it before, too caught up in the rejection he thought he’d been given, but Y/n had two floating butter beers behind her, following her as she walked. He trailed behind her, focused on sitting down and getting to know her.

The drinks descended onto the table and Y/n shyly looked down after seating herself. Severus cleared his throat and she softly pushed the beverage over towards him. He falsely accepted it and drummed his fingers in an unrelated manner across the glass.

“So…” he began, “Thanks for the butter beers…”

She nodded, “You’re welcome, I hope you d-don’t mind the drink. I wasn’t sure if you were going to prefer this, but most people our age only come here for… these.”

He listened to her explain herself and smirked on the inside, “No, it’s fine. I don’t really know what else I would’ve gotten anyway.” The awkward air between them contrasted the jubilant voices around them and it made the mood even weirder. “Do you read?” Asked Severus. “I- I mean I know you read, but do you, have any… um recommendations?” He corrected.

She gave him a respectful amount of eye contact before avoiding his gaze and pulling something out of her bag. “T-this has been my most recent read.” She slid the book over to him, allowing him to skim it.

“Antony and Cleopatra?” He questioned.

A flash of heat hit her chest, she thought he might’ve been making fun of her, “I like Shakespeare.” Came her simple answer.

Severus inclined his head in admission, “I’ve read a handful of his works before. Although Antony and Cleopatra is a good read, I think I prefer Wuthering Heights.”

He saw her face brighten and hint of a looming smile form before she pulled out another book, Wuthering Heights. “I- I carry a copy of this with me almost everywhere!” She exclaimed. He saw her look sheepish from her excited behavior and found it… cute. “Sorry.” She apologized.

“Don’t be,” Severus insisted. “A good book can do that sometimes.”

“Right.” She nodded. “W-who’s your favorite character? In the book.”

After that question, he and Y/n had fallen into a comfortable conversation. Severus found that she was almost exactly how he was in his interests and his thought processes. He noted that she had the characteristics of a leader but she seemed too shy to actually follow through with doing so, but she was brilliant and, if given the chance, she’d be able to succeed. Her favorite class was charms, with potions being a close second, and they shared different pointers they’d both made in their respective books.

Unfortunately, some people didn’t know when to leave others alone. That was made evident when Potter, along with the other three Marauders, somehow spotted Severus and Y/n.

“Hey, Snivellus, I see you’re making friends.” Potter sat down in one of the chairs, making himself comfy.

Sirius sat down next to Y/n and wiggled his eyebrows, making her flustered and look away, “And you’ve even gotten Mouse to squeak.” He laughed.

“Leave her alone and go away, Black.” Severus seethed, this was the last thing he wanted or needed.

Sirius thought for a moment before shaking his head and grooming devilishly, “I don’t quite think I want to.” He decided. “Snivellus, you look parched,” he stood up and walked over to Severus. “Let me help you with that.”

James and Peter stood covering Sirius in case anyone looked over, while Remus stood off in the back. Sirius had tip-toed his fingers by Severus’ drink and knocked it over, causing it to fall in his lap and spill down his pant legs.

“Oops, oh dear me. Sorry about that, I seem to be too clumsy for my own good.” Black mocked, laughing with Potter as they watched Severus’ look of anger.

He felt humiliated. Despite the many things they’d done to them over the years, this had take the lead. All he wanted was to have a nice day with Y/n, and he’d been doing so well - he hadn’t messed up, he hadn’t put his foot in his mouth, and he’d even gotten her to talk freely with him. But no, life’s twisted sense of humor had once more taken a jab at him.

As if it hasn’t been bad enough, Y/n had given him a look of pity. Severus hated that look and seeing it come from her made his mortification even worse. Her eyes flashed in an emotion Severus couldn’t decode and right after, a chair scooted across the floor, sitting James in it, and taking him back to whatever table he was at. Sirius looked confused before attempting to walk off and tripping, not seeing that his shoe laces were knotted together. Peter looked skeptical but as he attempted to walk off, the bottom of his shoes became slick and he slid across the room. Remus knew when to leave but he still proceeded with caution.

Severus looked back at Y/n and even though he was still embarrassed, he gave her a grateful upturn of his lips. She pursed her lips and a glint shown in her eye, one that wasn’t there before, and dried him off with a simple spell.

The previous chatter between the two of them had died down a bit and Y/n took the final sip of her butter beer. She looked up, feeling eyes watching her and noticed Severus looking directly at her. She blushed, not used to such intense attention, but for once continued to look at him.

He noticed that her cheeks seemed to have an underlying tone of red beneath them and he found it beguiling. The tone of her cheeks, matched with the creamy complexion of her skin, brought out her moist lips. Severus couldn’t find any cracks in them, and they looked smooth to the touch. Her eyes, as stated previously before, were shining in the dim lighting and it irradiated the back corner they were in. The silkiness of her beautiful hair was pulled back by an elegant, emerald hair clip lined with mini gardenias to accentuate it.

He could see that she started to feel self conscious from his long gazing, and he snapped out of his reverie. He also noted that she had a bit of foam from her beverage that was lined perfectly above her lip, similar to a mustache. He let out a small chuckle at the sight.

“I-Is there something wrong?” She asked.

Shaking his head, “No, you just happen to have a bit of…” he gestured to where his lip was to indicate that she had something right there. He saw her blush deeply before wiping her mouth with the back of her sleeve.

“Better?” She queried.

He nodded, “Better.”

May 6th, 1988

Severus stood back staring at the breathtaking view in front of him. It was perfect. It was so pure and calming, made him want to do anything to see it; he wished he could burn it into his mind and never let it escape. The way it made his usual stone heart flutter and gave him a feeling of Cornish pixies flying about in his abdomen.

Her.

How would Severus describe his feelings for her? Any combination of letters in any language wouldn’t suffice the description. She was herself, always had been, the definition of love for him and her name the very synonym of love. Every day with her brought so many challenges in their lives. After each trying day, that bedtime talk and sharing every single detail of her day with him was her routine - a routine he’d come to adore.

Every time he was broken inside, or needed a shoulder to lean on so he could vent his troubles away, her refreshing smile was his ultimate rescue. She was the reason for him to believe in love. She never left his side in any situation where he needed her. She’d seen his tears hidden from others. She’d healed his heart by applying the ointment of her support. He was forever indebted to her love and if given the chance, he’d proudly say so.

She’d been busy talking with her longtime best friend, and, yes, she still glared at Severus every once in a while. Of course now, it was all in a good laugh, but Severus was till skeptical.

As if time hadn’t hindered her feelings of him, she’d turned around and caught his watchful eye. She blushed and excused herself, walking over to him and passing everyone else who tried speaking to her.

Her hair was pinned up, neatly arranged so that every clip was tightly nestled into her soft hair. Her makeup was minimal, not that she needed it in Severus’ opinion, and her beauty was only magnified by the small definition it’d given her. The creamy, white gardenia that rested in her hair demanded his attention and brought him back to a time when they were younger.

Her dress, simple yet elegant, heightened her appealing figure and hugged her in all the right spots. The lace that started from the bottom of her dress to the top of her shoulders snaked around her in a comforting embrace as she wrapped her arms around him. He reveled in the way the back of her dress had an opening and he showed no hesitancy to feel her glowing skin. It didn’t disappoint.

He looked down at her while she looked up at him and they shared a soft smile. There was nothing he loved more than making her smile. Her eyes crinkled at the edges and the corners of her lips turned upwards. It never took long. A sarcastic remark, a joke, a musing about a rather tedious potion. Soon enough, she was grinning, and so was he.

“You look absolutely alluring, Mrs. Snape.” He complimented her, feeling her arms tighten around him at the flattery.

She tenderly kissed the underside of his jaw in adoration, “As do you, Mr. Snape.” She replied.

They stood there, holding one another, shutting everyone else out as they looked on and over the balcony. The beautiful seaside compared little to nothing of the beauty they both shared with one another. They weren’t a perfect couple, and never did they aim to be, but they were the right match for another. Y/n was still shy and Severus hadn’t lost his love for that; Severus too was still snarky with even more sarcasm and it brought an equal balance to their lives. Bumping into each other had been one of the best things to happen to them.
