I’m almost done with it. I’ll be honest.. I only read this book because Cooper Koch loves this book and way how beautiful it is and he may be playing Jude if they actually decide to make a movie about it which I heard is possibly happening. So I’m like hmmm he keeps talking about this book and the cover caught my eye. I did a little research on it and saw a lot… ALOT of people hated it. But I just took that as people on TikTok being dramatic as always.
This book is so traumatic, tragic, painful, sad and had my emotions everywhere. I’ve never cried so much reading a book. Then I decided to see what everyone thought of it on TikTok and just doing research. I’m seeing everyone call it trauma porn and all these other things. I’ll be honest. Would I classify this book as beautiful? No. Do I understand why people describe it that way? Definitely. But it’s not beautiful to me. It’s just heartbreaking. It’s a wonderfully written book and the story and how it’s told is phenomenal. But it’s so tragic that I can’t define it as beautiful. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it or the characters. Thinking about it makes me cry.
But I don’t hate it? I think the reason why is because there are so many people out there going through what Jude had experienced and what he was experiencing with the aftermath of those things in his adulthood. Now I’m not saying these exact scenarios are happening to people. But these things do happen. The child prostitution, the child sexual abuse, physical abuse. Rape. How people deal with it, I feel sometimes is similar to how Jude was dealing with it. Refusing to see a therapist, the cutting, thinking he’s not good enough or doesn’t deserve love because he thinks he’s disgusting or that people think he is. Not being able to open up because of the fear of people seeing you differently. His difficulties with sex and his relationships with the people around him. All of that I think is what made me emotional because all I could think about is the people out there who are or who have been through this. Then myself being a victim of sexual abuse.
I think that’s what made it hard for me to hate it. Because once I saw everyone hating it.. I’m like why? This is stuff that’s happening to people. Stuff that people are dealing with and we don’t even know it because some people are afraid to talk about it. But that doesn’t mean I don’t understand why people DO hate it. It’s fucking wild to write as a book. Like who the fuck thinks of shit like this??? I also don’t agree with the authors opinions about how someone as traumatized as Jude should kill themselves and how she doesn’t really believe in therapy. That I think is the most ridiculous thing I heard. Therapy works if you allow it to work and you allow yourself to be open and vulnerable. Suicide doesn’t need to be the answer and a lot of times therapy has saved someone’s life. So the author I don’t really like. Cause girl what… I also don’t agree with this becoming a movie. No one wants to see this on film, it’s hard enough reading about it. I love Cooper Koch and I think he’d make a great Jude especially after seeing him as Erik Menendez. But I don’t want a movie about this book. WE DONT NEED THAT.

Apologizing To You
Summary: How do they apologize to you? (Similar to Fighting and Making Up but oh well.)
Characters: Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Ace, Sabo, Law, Kid
Genre: Fluff
CW: None // SFW
———
Luffy:
You thought it would be more difficult to get Luffy to apologize considering he’s not above bickering and arguing and can be so freaking stubborn. But the thing is, Luffy’s emotional intelligence is through the roof and he always senses when you’re really hurting. That being said, he thinks it’s important for you to say so, so he won’t just do it. If you ask, though, he won’t hesitate. He might even grin and ask you why you took so long.
Zoro:
For the most part, he’s not one to apologize. He’s incredibly stubborn and doesn’t let those words leave his lips easily, to the point you’ve had several arguments that were far bigger than they should have been. He’s a stubborn bastard, and he’s very proud. He’s also opposed to giving gifts as an apology as he thinks that cheapens it. When he does feel the need to apologize, he’ll do so verbally and quite simply (and privately, for his pride); he would really never do anything to you that would require anything beyond that.
Sanji:
You need only ask. Sanji would do anything for you, even swallow his pride. In fact, he’s so quick to apologize, he sometimes tries to speed run the process and might even get his feelings a little hurt if he’s ready to apologize but you’re not ready to accept it yet, but he’s mature enough not to let that turn into another fight. He’s also one to show up outside your window with a bouquet of flowers or another gift to sweeten the deal. He’ll apologize even if you were in the wrong just to jumpstart the making up process.
Ace:
Arguing is tough for him, but so is apologizing- not necessarily because he’s too proud to admit when he’s wrong, but because he’s too scared. He fears admitting that he was wrong will cause you to leave him, and this insecurity can be difficult to navigate. He usually ends up shutting you out rather than rushing over to you to apologize, but once you do approach him, usually offering something to eat as a peace offering, he’ll quickly accept fault and apologize for anything and everything.
Sabo:
Such a sweetheart but also competitive. You’re the only one (except his brothers, maybe) who knows just how attentive and caring Sabo can be, a far cry from the reckless young man who never seems to listen to a word anyone says, and you’re most likely to experience it after a fight. The two of you have a chosen spot- a pink peach tree on Momoiro Island- and it’s usually Sabo who finds himself waiting there (let’s face it, he’s more likely to say something insensitive than you are). He usually apologizes with a sheepish grin and a peach he plucked from the tree.
Law:
Attempting to wring an apology out of him is no good. He has to do it in his own time, and he will, usually no more than two or three days. He prefers to do it under the cover of darkness, without any eyes watching or ears listening except yours, climbing into bed beside you and muttering an apology into your ear, pressing warm kisses into your hand until you melt and are receptive enough to forgive him. Also not opposed to writing an apology on a scrap of paper and slipping it into the book you’ve been reading because he communicates much better that way.
Kid:
Really not one for heartfelt apologies. Also not one to notice he did something wrong. Eventually he’ll notice you’re upset, but only because you haven’t been sitting in his workshop as much, and kicked him when he rolled on top of you in his sleep. But he’s at a complete loss as to why and ends up snapping at you over it. When you tell him what’s wrong, he’ll grunt out an apology and probably propose you work out your frustration on him in a way that’s enjoyable for you both.

Chills Right to the Marrow part 53
ao3 link| part 1 . . . part 50, part 51, part 52
“You’re moving?” Dustin yells louder than he should in the middle of Family Video.
Steve just shrugs, like he didn’t drop the news of the century. “My parents are selling the house. Kinda means I have to move.”
“What he means,” Robin interrupts, slamming the new box of tapes onto the counter, “is that they are kicking him out.”
“They are not kicking me out.” Steve takes the first few tapes off the top of the box and starts loading the cart. “They’ve been talking about selling the house for years now, the only reason they haven’t is because I still lived there.”
“You still live there now,” Robin presses. “What changed?”
Steve sighs. Ignoring the question by bringing the mostly empty cart into one of the aisles. Refilling the shelves.
“Well?”
Another sigh. “They just, we had a deal that if I didn’t go to college in a year, that they weren’t going to support me anymore. Including the house. It’s been a year. Time’s up.”
Dustin really hates Steve’s parents. He’s never said it out loud, it’s been the silent thought in his mind. But it was true. He hated them. He hated them without ever needing to meet them in person. The soulless eyes in the one family portrait told him everything.
His mother would never kick him out for societal failures. She loved him for everything he did. Mistakes and all. There wasn’t anything he could do to make that change. Even if she knew all he’s been through, all he’s seen and done, he’d still never lose that love.
Steve, from what Dustin’s heard, had to earn it. It was titles on sports teams and cheaply made trophies. Medals and accolades. Something to brag about at business meetings. Something physical to pin their pride.
When it all stopped, so did their love. He became a leech that lived despite them. Now instead of lines upon lines of achievement to brag about, it was all about the son who failed to keep up with his father’s shadow.
Even when Steve is so much more than their rudimentary required achievements. When asked what Steve has done, who Steve is, awards aren’t in Dustin’s top ten. Steve was so much more than they could even pretend to appreciate. He was so much better than them.
“So making you pay rent the past year wasn’t enough?” Robin’s anger echoes off the walls of the store. Thank God there weren’t any customers. “Now they get to kick you out with nothing.”
Pay rent? Dustin didn’t know about that.
“I don’t have nothing,” Steve tries to defend. But the fight turns to defeat in his shoulders. “I can take anything but the furniture.”
How many times has Steve paid without Dustin even thinking about it? He had thought it wasn’t a problem for Steve. He thought that all the money Steve made was extra. His parents still paying for the house, his groceries. Providing for their child.
That was all Steve? He’s been paying them, paying for himself, for a year and Dustin didn’t notice.
“You don’t have a roof, Steve.” Robin radiates an anger that Steve doesn’t even begin to have. He just seems so resigned.
“Could you just drop it, Robin.” It’s the highest Steve’s raised his voice this entire conversation. Veering on yelling. “There is nothing I can do to change it. Nothing.”
Robin pinches her mouth shut. Angrily slamming tapes onto her cart. Each one with a dull thump.
Steve was moving.
“I know,” Eddie spits when Dustin asks him about it. “Got the call about it yesterday. Didn’t even know they were selling the place.”
Wayne walks in on his way out to work. “You still pissed about that?”
“I’m pissed for a lot of reasons, kinda hard not to be.”
“That’s not what I’m talking about.”
Eddie clenches his jaw, fists clenching and unclenching. “I just wish he told me. We promised to be more open about stuff that was bothering us, and he didn’t.”
Dustin was following, but there was more to this conversation than he knew. Something that also explains the closeness that Steve and Eddie have had in the past few weeks.
He could assume. With what he’s heard, when he definitely was not supposed to be listening, it sounded like Steve might have had a thing for Eddie. Which grosses Dustin out for so many different reasons, but it’s fine. He can’t control who Steve dates, it’s just going to happen.
The thing was, he didn’t want to assume. He already felt weird about it when the school gossip was about who was dating just because they were close. It was another thing to speculate if people were gay. It just wasn’t something Dusitn felt right doing.
Even if he did suspect. His curiosity getting the better of him, and making him wonder. But the wonder was useless because he can’t just ask. Asking was wrong, and to the wrong person, would be dangerous. For reasons Dustin doesn’t fully understand.
So when Steve comes home and Eddie immediately gets off the couch to bug him. Dustin just shuts his brain off and forces himself to have some respect. If they were something, if Dustin’s stupid brain made correct assumptions, he was just going to wait for them to tell him. If they wanted to, they would.
He just hoped he made it clear enough that he would be safe to tell. He’d still love them if they actually murdered someone this time. That had to be enough to show them this wouldn’t matter. Wouldn’t it?
“I’m not talking about this right now,” Steve says while Dusting is slipping on his shoes. “I already got yelled at by Robin , I don’t need to hear the same from you.”
“How do you know it would be the same?” Eddie insists, following Steve to the stairs. Dustin didn’t notice before, but he’s not walking with his cane. Just himself. “I could be bringing it up in a completely different context.”
Steve sighs, crossing his arms. “Don’t care. I already heard enough about it today.”
He starts to climb up the stairs, Eddie continuing to shout after him.
“You know, you can’t hide upstairs anymore. My physical therapist said I can start thinking about doing stairs again. And I’m thinking of trying that right now.”
Eddie, not as hesitantly as Dustin would want him to, starts to climb the stairs. Slower than he has in the past, but he does it. Follows Steve into his bedroom, like what he just did wasn’t a major accomplishment.
“Jesus Christ this wallpaper is terrible,” Dustin can make out right before the door closes.
Wayne grabs his keys, nodding at the door. “Come on, I’ll drop you off on my way to work.”
“How long has he been able to do that?” Dustin can’t help but ask.
“I guess right now,” Wayne explains, pulling out of the drive. “He’s been stepping on some blocks as part of his exercises, but I didn’t think he was ready to do a whole staircase yet.”
He shakes his head. “No, I meant walking around without a cane. I thought he was going to use it all the time.”
“Yes and no. Yes, he will need to use a cane, and his crutches, on days when he needs it. Sometimes they can help with the pain, sometimes he needs them for the balance. But other days, especially if it’s a space he’s comfortable with, he can walk around without it. Really just depends on how he’s feeling that day.”
He was getting better. Again. Dustin thought he hit the peak of his progress, but he didn’t. There was still room to grow. To gain more strength. To find a way to act, and be, the way he was back at the beginning of the year.
Dustin forgot how it felt to look at Eddie walking around without any assistance, mainly because it felt like nothing at all. Before, it was just the norm. Now Eddie’s sucked into the world where the norm changes every day.
He’s grateful that things are getting better. He’s grateful that things are starting to get back to normal. But after having a reminder as big as the fourth, it’s hard to imagine that life can ever go back to perfectly normal.
But maybe, just maybe, if Eddie can adapt, if Eddie can continue to return back to the state of peace, Dustin can too.
Note: Here starts the last Dustin pov chapter. I keep saying these, but I can't believe it's almost over. I'm trying to get all of the parts of this fic out before the end of the year, so I'm starting to write the Steve and Eddie pov chapters. You guys are not ready for those.

Charms
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Sirius Black x Fem!Slytherin!reader
1.5k words
cw: fluff
After lunch, you had a free period. You had gotten comfortable in a bay window with a book and it didn’t take long for one of Hogwarts’ strays to find you. You had started with just absentmindedly petting it, but then it curled up in your lap and fell asleep. You both loved and hated how content it looked snoozing away. You groaned when the bells chimed to signal the end of the period. You couldn’t move, not with a sleeping cat in your lap. How could you disturb its rest?
You sigh. At least it’s only Charms. You accept your position and continue to read. You’re certain that Pandora or Dorcas will take notes when they notice you’re not there. If worse comes to worst, you could see if Evan or anyone else has notes. Or you could have Dorcas ask Marlene for Lily’s notes. Staying with the cat seemed more acceptable with each person you added to the list of possibly having notes. For all you know, Professor Flitwick could be reviewing a spell you’ve already mastered and you’d be bored out of your mind anyways. Yes, staying here and letting the small creature remain unbothered was okay.
Sirius, who had gotten better at sneaking glances at you during the classes you shared, notices right away when you aren’t in your seat next to Pandora when Charms starts. As much as he wants to point it out to his friends and get their opinions on where you might be, he doesn’t. If he did, he’d endure more teasing about “still being intrigued” by you. He was. He just doesn’t want to deal with his friends right now.
Despite knowing you aren’t there, Sirius continues to glance toward Pandora throughout the class. He also looks at the door. He’s hoping you’ll walk in with some excuse for being late, but you never do. Sirius has never found it so difficult to pay attention in class. He really hopes that his friends don’t notice him scanning the room and ask him what he’s looking for. Still intrigued. He wasn’t sure if this intrigue was developing into something more. Interest. More than interest. He felt a need to get to know you better. To get you to like him. You were a dog person after all. You should like him.
After class, rather than heading straight to his next lesson, he looks around the corridors a bit. He’s looking for you, but if anyone dared to ask, he would claim to be looking for a dropped quill or something. Is a quill a believable thing to be searching for? If he dropped an ink pot, that would break. Maybe a misplaced textbook? He’s still thinking of possible excuses for what he was looking for when he spots the real thing: you. Your hair seems to glow in the sunlight from the window where you’re sitting, book in hand and cat in lap. Of course you had an animal with you.
“Ah, there you are!” Sirius exclaims, strolling toward you. “You missed Charms!”
You tilt your head, looking up at the voice.
“Have you come to give me your notes?”
“Do I look like I take notes?”
“No, but looks can be deceiving.”
A crooked smile appears on his face.
“And how do I look, darling?” He strikes a pose, earning an eye roll from you.
“Like a pompous arse who doesn’t have notes to offer me?”
“Hmm, not the answer I was going for.”
You snort a laugh, which slightly disturbs the cat still sleeping in your lap but it adjusts and falls right back asleep.
“What do you want to hear? Oh, Sirius, you’re so dreamy and fit and charming and dashing,” you say in your falsetto.
Sirius laughs and leans against the wall near your feet.
“Yeah, something like that.”
“Then go find your fan club. They’ll tell you that.”
You turn back to your book, hoping he’ll leave. He doesn’t.
“Are you not in my fan club?” he asks, tapping your shoe with his finger.
“No. Never have been,” you say. Your eyes are glued to the pages of your book.
“It’s always accepting new members.”
You look up at Sirius with an annoyed look, which softens quickly when you see Regulus approaching from behind him.
“Reggie!” you call with a wave.
Sirius spins around, coming face to face with his brother.
“Sirius,” Regulus greets his brother coldly. His tone warms when he looks back to you. “I have bad news for you.”
You groan. “It’s formal?”
He nods and Sirius looks confused.
“What’s formal?”
“You’re still coming, right?” Regulus asks you, his eyes pleading you to say yes. “Please?”
“Yes, I’m still coming,” you say and his face lights up. “But! You’re coming dress shopping with me.”
His face falls. “Why?”
“Because I’m not taking Dorcas or Pandora.”
“What do you need a dress for?” Sirius asks.
His interest in whatever his brother has invited you to is growing. What event was Regulus taking you to that you needed to wear a dress? He was amused that you would be dragging his brother shopping for said event. That unnerving feeling that he had in his stomach a few days ago outside returned as he thought of you twirling in a dress in front of Regulus for his opinion.
Regulus shot Sirius an annoyed look, as if saying it wasn’t any of his business.
“Just a Slug Club thing,” you say, waving your hand dismissively at Sirius. “So, Reg, we’ll go to Hogsmeade this weekend, yeah?”
Sirius didn’t wait for Regulus’ answer. He left you two with his mind spinning on how he could be invited to this Slub Club thing. Who did he know that was in Slug Club and would likely not already have a date picked out?
“Yeah, this weekend works,” Regulus says. He pauses as he turns to see how far away Sirius had gone. “Why was he here?”
You shrug. “Don’t know. Thought he was maybe going to offer me notes for Charms, but no.”
“You were here all period, weren’t you?” he asks, eying the sleeping cat.
“Little thing is just so comfortable. You can’t blame me!”
“You’re unbelievable sometimes, you know that, right?”
“It was just Charms!” you exclaim.
“And you skipped it.”
“Yes, I did.”
“What do you have next?”
“Transfiguration…”
Regulus gives you a small smile before he scoops up the cat. It chirps with wide eyes at the sudden movement. He gently places it on the ground and it runs away.
“Come on,” he says, grabbing your hands. “Let’s get you to Transfiguration.”
“But!”
“No buts! As your friend, I can’t let you skip classes all day because a cat was sleeping.”
“Regulus,” you whine.
“I won’t hear it,” he says definitively. “You’ll thank me later.”
“Doubtful,” you grumble but now that you’re standing, you let Regulus lead you to your next class.
---
It hits Sirius after dinner when he’s in the Gryffindor Common Room. Lily is in Slug Club. Despite all of James’ attempts, she is very single and likely needs a date to the party. She could be his way in. He was fairly certain he hadn’t seen her buddying up to any guy recently. He approaches the table where she’s sitting with Mary and Marlene. He puts a genuine smile, hoping it helps his cause.
“Evans! You know how we’re best friends, yeah?”
“Words never used to describe us, but go on,” Lily laughs as she looks up from her homework.
“I’ve decided that I’ll be your date to Slughorn’s party.”
She looks at him with a confused expression.
“You’ve decided?”
“Yes.”
“And you want to go to that?”
“Yes.”
“Do I want to know why? Usually people not in Slug Club are more than glad not to go,” she says.
He presses his hands on the table and leans forward. “I just need to be there.”
“Need to, huh? Would you behave?”
“Yes!”
“I don’t believe you, Black.”
“What would I even do?”
“I don’t know. Prank Severus or something stupid.”
“I thought you didn’t like him anymore,” Sirius says, his brows scrunching together in confusion.
“I don’t,” Lily says pointedly. “But that doesn’t mean I want my guest at Slughorn’s party to be causing a scene. It’s my image on the line.”
“I promise I’ll be on my very best behavior.” SIrius looks around the common room. “I swear it on Remus’ books, James’ broom, Peter’s wizards’ chess and my hair.”
“You almost have to say yes now,” Mary says with a giggle. “He swore on his hair and I want to see what happens when he fucks it up.”
“I won’t!” he asserts.
“I suppose it saves me from actually asking someone… Alright, Black. You can come.” She pauses and looks Sirius up and down. “You know you have to dress up, right?”
He nods and smiles at her. “That’s part of why I need to go.”
Lily exchanges glances with Marlene and Mary as Sirius returns to where his friends are gathered near the fire.
“You’ll have to give us a play-by-play. Black needing to go to Sluggy’s party?” Marlene tells Lily.
“Do you have any idea what that’s about?” Mary asks.
Lily shakes her head with a sigh. “No… I just hope I don’t regret it.”

hey!!!! I've never made a request before, I hope that's right.../ I would like to make a request for a story I'm developing, where Ada dazai has a best friend who also works at the agency, dazai is in love with his best friend, but your friend is already engaged to a woman, how would he deal with that??? (Reader and dazai have been friends for a long time) Well, if you're not making requests just ignore them and if I haven't specified the reader's gender, I would really appreciate were a male reader (sorry for the mistakes, english is not my language) ♡ have a nice day♡
He tries to pretend he doesn’t care.
If Reader Never Loves Him Back:
He really tries, and it seems to work since you never notice.
He loves you so of course he wants you happy, which you clearly are with her.
He distances himself from you. Doesn’t come to your house unannounced anymore, doesn’t show you his new favorite books or songs, doesn’t burden you in the slightest.
And you don’t chase him.
He loves you but he hates that ring on your finger.
He loves you but he hates how you smile about her.
He loves you but he hates how you talk about making a family with her.
He loves you but he hates hearing about your wedding plans.
He loves you but he hates seeing you happy.
Because it’s not with him.
He hates himself for that. It was his fault to begin with. He always told you he “had no such tastes in men.”
He regrets those words more and more every day, especially when you ask him to be your best man. A front row seat to the taking of the love of his life.
He’s so selfish.
He still calls himself selfish even as he stands as the best man at your wedding.
He still calls himself selfish whilst he’s babysitting your child while you’re on an anniversary trip.
He still calls himself selfish when he holds your second child in the hospital.
He’s selfish and that will never go away cause he still loves you too much to leave.
If Reader Loves Him Back:
He tries so hard and yet it always feels like he’s failing. Like he knows you know.
He notices that you never smile the same, not since your wedding date was decided.
Now you smile like you’re only doing it to shut your mouth, because if not all the words will spill out.
You love her but you don’t talk about her unless asked.
You love her but you ignore her texts if you’re talking to him.
You love her but you weren’t even the one to propose.
You love her but you still sit so close to him when you don’t have to.
You love her but now you’re standing at his door in the middle of the night.
He tries to ask what’s wrong only to have his lips sealed by your own, his body engulfed in a strong embrace.
And he’s tried so hard to hide how he felt, but god did he not even fight it. He pulls you into his home and spends the night with you, no remorse in sight.
The next morning you’re no longer wearing that ring, moving your things back into your old ADA apartment.
And you’re walking with him to work.
Years later he’s got a ring on his finger.
Years later he’s kissing you at an altar.
Years later he’s with you at an animal shelter buying a cat.
It took years but now he gets to wake up to you for the rest of his life.

boyfriend!matt who presses stickers from his favorite brands onto your hydro flask and luggage because “you need to roughen it up a little.” you roll your eyes, but he catches you tracing the outline of his thrasher sticker later, and it makes him grin.
boyfriend!matt who has zero shame rolling into your country club brunch with a scraped-up knee and a t-shirt that smells like sweat and asphalt. he’ll kiss your cheek in front of all the pearl-wearing moms just to watch you blush. “what? they should know who you belong to.”
boyfriend!matt who says, “don’t touch that,” every time you try to clean one of his skateboards, but secretly loves when you do. you polish the wheels like they’re vintage car parts, and it makes his heart ache a little.

Masterlist / Previous Part
Y/N wasn’t expecting the call.
Her evening was supposed to be low-key —grading papers, maybe catching a show with Logan and Wade later. But when Logan called, everything changed.
When she arrived, her father was comfortably seated on the couch, chatting animatedly with Logan. Logan looked both polite and slightly panicked— caught in the middle of a conversation he didn’t initiate. The sight almost made Y/N laugh. How Logan always ended up trapped with the chattiest person ever was a mystery.
“Dad!” Y/N greeted, pulling her father’s attention away from Logan.
“Hey, kiddo!” Your father, Daniel, stood up with a grin, acting as if this surprise visit was the most normal thing in the world. “I thought I’d drop by and see how you were doing.”
Y/N gave him a quick hug, still trying to process the unexpected visit. “I didn’t know you were in town.”
“Just figured I’d come check on you in this new place of yours!” he said, waving it off as no big deal.
Logan stood, relieved now that Y/N was here to handle things. “I’ll let you two catch up,” he murmured, retreating toward the kitchen.
“Thanks, Logan,” Y/N said softly, before turning back to her father. “You’ve met Logan?”
Daniel nodded. “Yeah, nice guy. We were just talking about his work—special ed teacher, right?”
“Yeah, he is,” Y/N replied, adjusting to the idea of her dad sitting in her apartment, chatting with Logan of all people.
A moment later, the door opened, and Wade strolled in after his shift at the bar, his usual grin plastered across his face. He spotted Y/N and her dad sitting in the living room and raised an eyebrow.
“Hey, what’d I miss?” Wade asked, dropping his bag by the door.
“Wade, this is my dad,” Y/N introduced, trying to keep the situation from becoming even more awkward.
Wade immediately brightened. “Ah, family!” he announced with his signature charm, shaking her dad’s hand. “I’m Wade. Roommate number one— the one who makes sure this place doesn’t burn down.”
Y/N tried not to laugh while Logan snorted from the kitchen. Daniel chuckled, easily won over by Wade’s humor. “Nice to meet you, Wade.”
Wade flashed Y/N a grin before slipping off toward the kitchen, joining Logan who was standing by the counter, quietly observing from a distance.
“So that’s Y/N’s dad?” Wade asked, leaning against the counter. “What’s the verdict?”
Logan shrugged slightly, glancing back at the living room. “Talks a whole lot. Very intense. Protective. Y/N’s surprised by the visit.”
Wade crossed his arms, clearly intrigued. “I know, she was at the bar when you called. Did he mention why he’s here?”
Logan shook his head. “Not really. Just asked me a thousands questions in less than ten minutes. I didn’t want to pry.”
“Good call,” Wade nodded, then peered over the counter toward the living room again. “He staying for dinner?”
“No idea.” Logan replied, though the question hung between them as they began preparing something simple.
From the kitchen, Wade called out, “Mr. Y/L/N, are you staying for dinner?”
Before Y/N could answer, her dad jumped in with a grin. “Absolutely.”
Y/N shot a look in Wade and Logan's direction, as if to say, I wasn’t planning this, but they simply exchanged a glance between themselves. They shared a silent understanding— something about the situation was off. Wade raised an eyebrow, while Logan gave a subtle nod, signaling that they were both on alert now.
With no turning back, they set about preparing a simple meal, something easy but filling— pasta and a salad. While they worked, the soft hum of Y/N and her father’s conversation continued in the background, though they couldn’t help but tune in occasionally, catching snippets of what they were saying.
———
“So,” she began, choosing her words carefully. “What brings you here, Dad?”
Daniel leaned back on the couch, his eyes scanning the room. “Do I need a reason to visit my daughter?”
Y/N gave a small, hesitant smile. “No, of course not. But you didn’t tell me you were coming.”
“Wanted to surprise you,” he replied with a shrug, though there was something in his tone that sounded off. “Thought I’d check out your new place. Make sure it’s... decent.”
Y/N nodded slowly, sensing the subtle judgment in his words. “It’s fine, Dad. I like it here.” She let her eyes drift to the kitchen where Logan and Wade were working, grateful for the slight distraction.
Her father followed her gaze, raising an eyebrow when he saw Logan. “So… Logan, right?”
“Yeah,” Y/N said quickly, confused as to where this was going. “What about him?
“He seems like a solid guy. You sure you two are just... roommates?” He asked and she bit the inside of her cheek, bracing herself for where this conversation might go.
“Yes, Dad. We’re just roommates. That’s all.”
“Alright, alright, but what about Wade?” he asked,
“What's going on with you?" she blurted, raising an eyebrow as a grin threatened to break through.
Her father held up his hands in defense. “Just asking. Your mother and I used to talk about stuff like this, you know.”
Y/N blinked, caught off guard by the mention of her mom. Her father rarely brought her up that way, especially with how tense things still were between her parents, even decades after the divorce. It was usually more an inappropriate comment her mother didn’t deserve.
“Oh, really?” she asked carefully, not sure where this was heading.
“Yeah,” Daniel continued, his tone softening a little. “Back before things went... south. We used to wonder what you’d end up doing, where you’d live, and who you’d end up with. She always had these big ideas. Thought you’d find someone nice. Maybe settle down with a guy like one of these guys.”
Y/N opened her mouth to respond but paused, momentarily stunned by his gentler tone. Her father, for once, wasn’t launching into some bitter comment about her mom.
“She really said that?” Y/N asked softly, her curiosity outweighing her hesitance.
Daniel nodded with a smile. “She did. We were always so worried about you, you know? But it wasn’t just about who you’d end up with. We would imagine your entire future, what career you’ll end up choosing, how many dogs you would have— cause you always wanted one and we always told you ‘You’ll get one when you'll have your own house’…”
Y/N was quiet for a moment, letting his words sink in. It had been so long since her father had spoken about her childhood without bitterness that she almost didn’t know how to respond.
“I didn’t know you guys had my whole life planned,” Y/N chuckled, her voice softer now, her guard slowly lowering.
Daniel glanced over at her, smiling. “Yeah, well…we did that with your brother— although we didn’t expect any of his life choices, but that’s another story.”
For the first time in years, Y/N felt a connection with her father. A sense of mutual understanding that didn’t come laced with tension or resentment. It was brief, but it was something.
She smiled, a real one this time. “Thanks for telling me all that, Dad. That means a lot.”
Daniel reached over and squeezed her hand, his touch firm but comforting. “I missed you, honey.”
Y/N smiled, feeling the weight between them lighten. “I missed you too.”
Before the moment could grow too emotional, Logan called from the kitchen, “Dinner’s ready.”
Y/N looked toward the kitchen and then back at her father, who was already starting to stand.
“Well, let’s see what your roommates can do in the kitchen,” Daniel said with a faint smirk.
As they made their way to the table, Y/N couldn’t help but think that they’d actually had a good conversation. One that hadn’t ended with her dad tearing her mom down or leaving her feeling caught in the middle. Maybe things weren’t perfect between them, but for now, this small moment of peace was enough.
Daniel took the seat next to Y/N, while Logan and Wade sat on the opposite side. The conversation started politely enough, with Wade doing his usual job of keeping things light. He shared stories from his bartending adventures, as he always did, earning a few chuckles from James, who seemed to enjoy Wade’s humor.
The smell of the simple pasta dish Logan and Wade had thrown together filled the apartment. The atmosphere was initially warm, with everyone engaged in casual conversation.
“So, Wade,” Y/N’s dad said as he twirled his fork through the spaghetti. “Y/N told me you're a comedian?”
Wade grinned. “Yeah, I make people laugh for a living. Or at least try to. It’s a tough crowd out there.”
Daniel nodded. “Well, we could all use more of that these days.”
The conversation ebbed and flowed easily at first, moving between work, the city, and Y/N’s life in the apartment. Wade cracked jokes here and there, and Logan offered his quiet, thoughtful input when needed. It felt comfortable, almost like a normal family dinner.
But then, the conversation shifted.
“So, Y/N,” her dad began, his tone changing ever so slightly. “Have you heard from your mom lately? Still living the California dream, I assume.”
Y/N felt her body tense, and she shot a quick glance at Logan, who was watching her father closely. Wade picked up on the shift too, though he didn’t say anything.
“She’s doing fine,” Y/N replied cautiously. “We talked last week, actually. She’s been busy with work, but she’s good.”
Her dad gave a small, dismissive shrug. “Work. Right. And still with that guy, I suppose?”
Y/N's eyes narrowed slightly. “Yes. His name is Paul.”
Her father sighed, shaking his head. “I just don’t get it. She moves halfway across the country, barely checks in, and now with your brother all the way in Europe—”
“Dad,” Y/N interrupted. “She didn’t move across the country to get away from us. She moved for herself. And we’re fine. Sam and I are doing just fine.”
Daniel scoffed softly, setting his fork down. “I’m not saying you’re not fine, Y/N. I just don’t see how a mother can be so far away from her kids and not feel guilty. If I were her, I’d—”
“Well, you’re not her,” Y/N cut in, her voice sharper now. “You’ve been divorced for years. She didn’t abandon us, and she still cares. You don’t need to keep bringing it up like she left us to fend for ourselves.”
Logan’s jaw tightened as he glanced between Y/N and her father, sensing the rising tension. Wade shifted uncomfortably in his seat but stayed silent, eyes flicking to Logan for some kind of cue.
“I’m just saying,” Daniel continued, his voice lower now, “she could have stayed. Made more of an effort. But she left.”
“She didn’t leave us, Dad,” Y/N said, her patience wearing thin. “And honestly, Sam and I— we’re adults. We didn’t need her to stay and ‘raise’ us anymore. You’ve moved on with your life. Why can’t you let her do the same?”
Her father’s face tightened, and the air in the room grew heavy with unspoken frustration. For a moment, it felt like everyone at the table was holding their breath.
“I know you’re grown, Y/N,” Daniel said quietly, his eyes hard but sad. “But I don’t think a parent ever stops worrying about their kids. I just want to make sure you’re okay.”
Y/N sighed, trying to keep her voice steady. “I am okay, Dad. But you’ve got to stop blaming her for everything. This is your issue, not mine. Mom’s living her life, and I’m living mine.”
The room was thick with tension now, and no one knew quite what to say. Y/N’s father looked down at his plate, clearly feeling the weight of her words. Logan glanced at Wade, who shot him a silent look of understanding—they both knew when to stay out of family affairs.
After a long pause, Daniel finally spoke, his voice quieter than before and looking at all the people at the table. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to drag things down.”
Y/N softened and shook her head. “I know, Dad. But you’ve got to let this go.”
There was another silence before he nodded slowly. “You’re right. I’m sorry.”
The mood at the table lightened just slightly as everyone tried to return to their meals, though the weight of the conversation still hung in the air.
For a moment, there was silence, the air thick with unspoken words. Then, as if on cue, Wade jumped in, his voice cheerful and light. “You know what’s great about family dinners? Dessert! Who’s ready for some ice cream?”
The sudden change in tone broke the tension, and Y/N gave Wade a grateful look. Her dad, too, seemed to relax, chuckling at Wade’s enthusiasm. “Ice cream, huh? Now that’s something I like to hear.”
As Wade made his way to the kitchen, Y/N’s father glanced around the apartment again. His eyes landed on the fridge, and something seemed to catch his attention. “Hey, is that the picture I think it is?”
Y/N followed his gaze, realizing he was looking at the family photo she had put up weeks ago.
“Yeah,” Y/N replied, her voice softer now. “Wade and Logan insisted that I should put it up when I moved in.”
Daniel stood and walked over to the fridge, staring at the picture for a long moment. His expression shifted, a mixture of nostalgia and something else—regret, maybe. He ran a hand through his hair, his voice quiet when he finally spoke. “That was a good day. One of the last before things started to go wrong.”
Y/N felt a lump form in her throat. Something about the way he was looking at the photo made her heart ache.
“It was,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Daniel turned to face her, his eyes softer now. “You’ve grown up so much, Y/N. I don’t say it enough, but I’m proud of you. No matter what happened between me and your mom, I’m proud of the person you’ve become. And I’m sorry for…all the mess that we caused.”
Y/N’s heart clenched at his words. She gave him a small, genuine smile. “Thanks, Dad.”
The moment hung in the air for a beat longer before Wade returned with bowls of ice cream, his voice breaking through the heaviness. “Alright, dessert is served! I got vanilla, chocolate, and this weird one Logan bought—pistachio whatever. Anyone feeling adventurous?”
Daniel chuckled, the warmth returning to his expression. “I’ll stick with chocolate, thanks.”
The atmosphere lightened once again, and they all sat back down at the table, enjoying their ice cream and talking a bit more.
As the plates were cleared and the remnants of dinner were packed away, Y/N walked her father to the door, feeling the tension of the evening settle uncomfortably between them. The earlier argument still simmered, but it had cooled to a manageable level.
“I didn’t mean to upset you,” her dad said quietly, standing in the doorway. “It’s just hard, you know? Seeing you grown up, dealing with your own stuff, and not being able to do anything about it.”
Y/N offered a small, tired smile. “I know, Dad. And I appreciate that you care. But I’ve got this. You don’t need to keep fighting old battles.”
Daniel sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “I guess I just still see you as my little girl. Hard to let that go sometimes.”
Y/N stepped forward and hugged him tightly. “I’ll always be your little girl, Dad. But you’ve got to trust that I know what I’m doing.”
Her father hugged her back, his arms wrapping around her in a way that felt both protective and regretful. “I’m sorry for bringing all that up. It wasn’t fair.”
Y/N pulled back slightly, meeting his eyes. “It’s okay. Just…next time, maybe we can talk about something else?”
He smiled. “Deal.”
With one last hug, Daniel stepped out into the hallway. “I’ll call you soon. Let me know if you ever need anything.”
“I will.” Y/N said, watching as her dad gave her one last nod before heading down the hallway.
When she closed the door, Y/N leaned against it, letting out a long breath. It hadn’t gone perfectly, but at least it was over. She turned around to find Logan and Wade standing there, watching her with quiet concern.
“I’m sorry,” Y/N began, her voice barely above a whisper. “I had no idea he was going to show up like that. I didn’t mean to put you both through all that drama.”
Wade, who was leaning casually against the kitchen counter, waved it off. “Are you kidding? This is mild compared to some of the shit I’ve seen and heard.”
Logan stepped closer, his expression soft. “You don’t need to apologize. Family stuff happens. We’re in this with you.”
Y/N blinked, a small, grateful smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. “Thanks, but it was just… a lot.”
Logan nodded. “We get it. You don’t choose your family, but you can make your own, you know?”
Wade chimed in with a grin. “And lucky for you, you’ve got us, the best family you could ever create.”
Y/N laughed softly, the warmth of their words settling into her chest. “Thanks, guys.”
Logan gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder, and Wade, sensing the need for space, stretched dramatically. “Alright, I’m out. This emotional rollercoaster wiped me out. I’ll catch you both in the morning.”
“Goodnight, Wade,” Y/N said, shaking her head with a smile as he disappeared into his room.
Logan gave Y/N a lingering look. “You good?”
She nodded, still trying to shake off the heavy emotions of the night. “Yeah. I just need a minute.”
Logan gave her a small nod. “Take your time. Goodnight, Y/N.”
“Goodnight.”
Logan disappeared into his room as well, and Y/N sank into the couch. The living room was quiet now, and for a while, she let herself just breathe. The weight of the conversation with her dad still lingered, along with the tangled emotions from the night. She found herself staring at nothing, lost in her thoughts.
The hours slipped by unnoticed, the apartment dim and silent around her. She didn’t realize how late it had gotten until she heard the soft sound of footsteps approaching. Startled, Y/N turned her head to see Logan walking into the living room, his hair tousled from sleep.
“You okay?” he asked, his voice low, concerned.
Y/N let out a small, humorless laugh. “I thought you went to bed.”
“I did,” Logan said, sitting down on the couch beside her. “But I saw the lights were still on and thought you had fallen asleep here.”
Y/N sighed, her eyes fixed on the floor. “Sorry. I guess I didn’t realize how much time passed. I’ve just been… thinking.”
Logan watched her closely. “About what?”
Y/N shrugged, trying to find the words. “I don’t know. Everything, I guess. My dad, my mom, the divorce… I don’t want to cry about it. It feels like I’d be a little girl again, crying over something that happened so long ago. Like I can’t move on.”
Logan leaned forward, his arms resting on his knees as he looked at her. “It doesn’t matter how long ago it was. If it’s still hurting you, it’s okay to cry about it.”
Y/N shook her head, trying to swallow the lump forming in her throat. “But I shouldn’t. I’m not a kid anymore. Fuck, I’m a grown ass adult in my thirties. I can’t let this stuff affect me like it did back then.”
Logan's voice softened. “Y/N, you’re allowed to feel whatever you’re feeling. You don’t have to hold it in just because it’s been years. It’s still part of you.”
Y/N felt the tears prick at her eyes, but she fought to keep them at bay. “I don’t want to cry.”
“You don’t have to,” Logan said gently. “But if you do, I’m right here. You don’t have to do it alone.”
Y/N’s defenses crumbled at his words. She felt the dam break inside her, and before she could stop herself, the tears started to flow. At first, it was just a few quiet sobs, but soon she was genuinely crying, her shoulders shaking as the weight of everything she had been holding in finally spilled out.
Logan didn’t say a word. He simply shifted closer and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her into a comforting embrace. Y/N buried her face in his chest, her tears soaking his shirt, but Logan didn’t seem to mind. He just held her, letting her cry, offering nothing but his presence.
After a few minutes, Y/N’s sobs began to quiet. She stayed in Logan’s arms, feeling the warmth of his body and the steady beat of his heart beneath her cheek. It was calming, grounding.
“I hate this,” she whispered after a long pause, her voice hoarse. “I hate that it still hurts.”
“I know,” Logan murmured softly. “But it’s okay. You’ve been carrying it for a long time.”
Y/N wiped her eyes, her breathing evening out. “I feel so stupid.”
“You’re not stupid,” Logan said.
Y/N sniffled, pulling back slightly to look at him. “Thank you. For being here.”
Logan gave her a small smile, his hand still resting on her shoulder. “I’ll always be here for you. You know that, right?”
She nodded, feeling a wave of gratitude wash over her, and maybe something else. “Yeah. I do.”
After another long moment of silence, Logan shifted, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “You should get some sleep.”
She nodded. “You’re right. I got school tomorrow.”
Logan stood up and offered her a hand, helping her up from the couch. “You’ll feel better in the morning.”
Y/N smiled, feeling a little lighter. “You need to rest too, you know.”
Logan chuckled softly. “I will. But I’m not the one who just went through a rollercoaster of a night.”
Y/N gave him a grateful look as they walked toward their rooms. “Night, Logan. And… thanks again.”
Logan stopped at his door and gave her a soft smile. “See you tomorrow.”
With that, they each retreated to their rooms, leaving the quiet of the apartment to settle around them once more. But this time, the silence felt a little more peaceful, a little more comforting.

THE FLORAL perfume you had chosen for the night was bothering you, yet you had no one to blame but that one lady at Sephora who offered you a huge deal and made you buy it even if you didn’t like it that much.
Realistically speaking, you knew that the perfume wasn’t really the issue here. You were nervous about this whole fake-dating thing, even if you’d been your idea to begin with.
Lying and faking things weren’t really your deal. As a child, you’d always get in trouble because you could never lie properly. Growing up, you also faced your own problems because you can’t lie.
But you really want to help Nico.
Tonight’s Luke’s 21st birthday, and you had been invited to his little birthday dinner, a small celebration with people from his team and close friends, which included you. Although, you’re going more as a plus one than a friend, but Luke doesn’t need to know that.
A knock on your bedroom door has you turning your head around, facing Nico as he leans on the door frame and crosses his arms in front of you.
“You look nice,” he compliments you, and you smile, putting your arms behind you.
“Thanks. So do you.”
“So,” he claps his hands, sighing. “Are we ready? What’s the game plan for today?”
You take a deep breath, mentally repeating the “plan” you’ve been working on.
“Okay, this is what we’re going to do tonight, and Nico, you have to take this really seriously or else—”
“You sound really scary right now—”
“Nico.”
“Okay,” he pouts. “Go ahead.”
“All of your teammates are going to be there tonight and if anyone is going to help us fool Nora Ellis, it’s them,” you walk around the room, moving your hands as you explain your thoughts. “If we make ‘em believe that we are very much in love and together, then we’ll be safe.”
“That will be kind of hard,” he shrugs. “We’ve been friends for a while and we’re close but… I don’t know.”
“Nico,” you step closer, standing in front of him. “For this lie to work, you have to believe it. We have to believe it. It’s the only way we’ll be able to make this work.”
He whistles. “You know a lot for someone who can’t lie to save her life and started crying when I asked you if you had turned my jerseys pink when you decided that washing them with Nina’s pink shirt was a good idea.”
You roll your eyes and bite your lips, trying to hide your smile. “I just read tons of books.”
“When was the last time you—”
“This isn’t relevant right now!” you point your finger at him. “What’s relevant is: we need to make your teammates believe we’re together and in love. Think you can make it?”
Nico smirks, poking your cheek with his finger.
“When have I ever backed out of a challenge?”
“You’ve been around Jack for too much time, you’re getting too cocky,” you joke, crossing your arms. “So, the second part of your plan: PDA, pet names and touching.”
“Go on, little genius.”
“Lots of touching,” you say, feeling your cheeks get warm as you emphasize the word lots, making you want to look elsewhere. You don’t. “Lots of PDA and I guess we can squeeze some pet names in there too.”
“What?” he chuckles. “Want me to call you baby? Sweetheart?”
You spend the next five seconds forcing your face to remain red-less and your heart to stop beating so fucking fast— you were afraid Nico might hear it, considering how close you were and how fast it was going.
Gulping, you continue. “I don’t want anything,” you mumble. “I just think it’ll work.”
“Then we’re fine,” he claps again, moving his hair around. “Do we need to discuss something else?”
You look at the watch on your wrist and click your tongue.
“We don’t have time, we have to leave now,” you walk towards your bed and grab your purse, your phone and your wallet. “We can talk more in the car.”
“Lead the way, baby.”
Oh God, you think as you hear Nico’s laugh and comments about how fun this is all going to be, what have I done?
𖧷
“OKAY, AND remember, we started dating a month ago but we kept it super lowkey,” you remind Nico as you walk by his side towards the restaurant Luke chose for the night. “I hate lobster, you hate pop music.”
“I don’t hate it—”
“Strongly dislike,” you smile, before looking down, where Nico had just slipped his hand and intertwined both of your hands together.
Right. You’re dating.
Entering the fancy place, you felt Nico’s body close to yours, and you tried your hardest to keep your cool. You were used to being close to him but not in this way, not like this—
“Hischier!” Jack shouts across the room and you almost want to knock him out with your own two hands for yelling like this and drawing everyone’s attention to you and Nico. “And… Emma?”
It was almost comical how grown men looked interested in your hands together, and how many smiles you could see directed at both of you. Your grip on Nico’s hand tightened without you even realizing it did, and you smiled politely at Luke and the rest of the Devils.
Nico let go of your hand for a second before shaking hands with Luke, wishing him a happy birthday like an old grandpa.
“Hey, Emma, thanks for coming.” Luke hugs you briefly, barely touching you, and you grin.
“Happy birthday, Lukey.”
“Emma!” Mia, one of your best friends, shouts and gets up, running to you. She hugs you tightly, and you hug her back, happy to see her again after weeks. “I didn’t know you were coming! Why didn’t you say anything?”
“I forgot,” you lie, feeling your cheeks getting warm. Mia looks at you like a human lie detector and you can tell she sees right through your bullshit but, happily, she doesn’t say anything else. “Sorry.”
“You’re forgiven. Ella’s here, too.”
You look around and try to find Ella, smiling when you see her sitting beside Luke, quietly speaking to one of the wives sitting beside her.
“I’ll talk to her later.” You reply.
You and Nico spend the next five minutes greeting the other people there, the rest of the players and some of the girlfriends before finally sitting down by Jack’s side— per his request, you must say. Nico’s hands immediately found yours as you placed them on top of the table, before grabbing the menu and smiling at you, brown eyes full of mischief.
“What do you want to eat, baby?”
Before you could even think of what to say, Jack’s loud and annoying laugh filled the table. “I fucking knew it! Hamilton, you owe me a hundred bucks!”
“Oh, man,” Hamilton sighs as he picks up his phone. “Couldn’t you guys keep hiding your relationship for a little bit more?”
“W-What do you mean?” you ask, looking at him before looking at Jack again.
“Dougie and I made a bet: if you made your relationship public by the end of the year, I’d win,” Jack starts, and you can tell how proud he is. “But if you didn’t, he’d win. Thankfully, I know my man here always gets my back.” He cheers, slapping Nico’s shoulder.
“You’re such a fucking child, Hughes.” Mia hisses before looking at you, clearly asking you why you hadn’t told her before.
“Shut up, princess. Now,” he grins. “My money, Dougie.”
You stare at them in disbelief, while Nico puts on his best performance and squeezes your hands together, smiling like he had just been caught eating snacks before lunch.
“Sorry, guys. We were just waiting for the right time,” he explains, and he sounds so natural you have to remind yourself to keep your surprise hidden. “Didn’t want to be like you and rush things.”
“Oh, screw you,” Jack laughs. “We all knew. You’re not slick.”
They kept talking while you tried to hide the fact that the things they were saying made no sense. Because you and Nico have never been close, romantically speaking. Sure, you’re friends, best friends if you want to go that way, but dating?
And, okay, you’re used to people thinking you’re together, because apparently a guy and a girl can’t be friends anymore, but this? The fact that they were sure of your “relationship” with Nico, sure enough to bet? This is surreal.
“Did you choose already?” Nico whispers to you, and you look at him with wide eyes. You don’t answer, trying to find the right things to say so you don’t screw up everything. “Baby? Are you okay?”
You nod, blinking a few times before staring at the menu in Nico’s hand again. “Yeah,” you whisper. “I think I’ll get the Caesar Burger, please.”
“Great choice.” He smiles at you, before telling your orders to the waiter.
You thought that your biggest concern here would be Nico, but in reality, it’s going to be you. You can’t really deal with too much attention on you, that’s why you’ve been keeping yourself in the shadows for this long— Hockey players can be loud and invasive sometimes, and you’d rather hang out with their kids or parents, because they won’t ask questions you don’t want to answer.
“So,” Timo starts, sipping on his beer and resting his chin on his hands, looking like a goddamn school girl. “What made you decide it was finally time? Sie ist ein hübsches Mädchen, Nico.”
Nico looks at you, smiling. “Ja, ist sie,” he nods, and even if you have no idea of what they’re talking about, you smile too, because Nico’s smile makes you want to smile. “And, I don’t know, man. If you had a girl who looked like this,” he points at you with his head. “Would you want to hide her?”
“Nico, he won’t ever get a girl like Emma,” Dougie laughs before getting shoved by Timo. “Ouch.”
“Well, I think it’s nice you guys are finally out.” Palat’s wife says, making you smile and rest your head on Nico’s shoulder.
“Thanks,” you say, sweetening your voice to the max. “I think we were just trying to understand where we stood before, y’know, letting everyone know.”
“How did the Hischiers take it?” Mia asks, looking extra curious. “I bet Nina was happy.” Like I would’ve been if you had told me sooner, she mouths, making you cringe. Sorry, you mouth back.
“They took it well,” you lie through your teeth, squeezing Nico’s arm more than you probably should. “And Nina is just glad her sister-in-law isn’t a Hockey obsessed girl.”
People laugh and you can’t help but feel you had just gotten your approval from Nico's friends.
Nico changes the topic of the conversation, moving back to Luke, the star of the night, and you’re glad for it. You eat side by side with him, you laugh at his jokes, you’re constantly touching him, as he’s constantly touching you.
“We should go out some time,” Mia says, casually, like she doesn’t mean anything by it. “Y’know, catch up.”
“Like anyone would willingly choose to spend a day with you.” Jack bickers, and Mia rolls her eyes at him.
“Go fuck yourself, Hughes.”
“Hey, guys,” Luke yells from the other corner of the table. “You promised you’d be nice to each other today. It’s my birthday.”
“I said no such thing—”
“You can’t even hear what we’re saying—” They both say at the same time.
“Jack and Mia. Shut. Up.” Luke says and they both pout while they shut up.
“It’s so funny because they’re much more alike than they think.” You whisper to Nico, smiling as he places his hand on your thigh, squeezing it lightly.
“They sure are, baby.”
It all seems so… natural. It’s weird and unsettling, but you’re fine with it as long as it helps people buy your lie. Also, the feeling of Nico’s heavy hand on your thigh isn’t really unpleasant.
The rest of the evening flies by and when you notice, it’s time for you to leave. You almost don’t want to, for the first time, happy to spend time with the players.
“D’you think they bought it?” You ask when you’re away from the guys and the restaurant. Your hands are still together but none of you notice it.
“I think they did,” he chuckles. “Actually, it was a lot easier than I was expecting.”
None of you address the fact that they already thought you were dating, though.
“Yeah,” you whisper, looking at your heels. “Phase one is complete, then.”
“I like how seriously you’re taking this,” he says, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk to look down at you, dimples on display for the whole world to see. Yet, you were the only one watching them right now. “Thank you. Truly.”
You smile, standing on the tip of your toes and giving him a light, brief kiss on the cheek, as you’re used to doing.
“You’re welcome.”

The fluorescent lights of the small clinic hummed quietly as you checked the clock. Your shift was almost over, and you were ready to go home and review your nursing notes. The door swung open, and in walked a tall, brooding young man, clutching his hand with a grimace. His dark eyes scanned the room before settling on you.
“Need some help?” you asked, walking over with a professional smile.
He nodded, his expression unreadable. “Training accident.”
You led him to a chair and carefully examined his hand. “Looks like you sprained it,” you said gently, grabbing an ice pack. “You’re lucky it’s not worse.”
He smirked. “I’ve had worse.”
You glanced at him. “Karate?”
“Yeah. Sekai Taikai is coming up.”
“That’s a big deal. You must be good.”
He didn’t answer, but there was a quiet confidence in his eyes. As you wrapped his hand, your fingers brushed, and a spark passed between you. You looked up, meeting his gaze.
“You’re good at this,” he said softly.
“Nursing is my thing,” you replied, trying to hide the blush creeping up your neck.
“Mine’s fighting. I’m Kwon.”
“Y/N.”
You left the clinic that night with more than just a name exchange.
.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・
Months passed, and your relationship grew. Kwon’s tough exterior softened around you, and you found yourself drawn deeper into his world of karate. You attended every Cobra Kai practice, watching him spar, feeling both pride and fear. He fought with an intensity that matched his personality—focused, relentless, and sometimes dangerous.
When Cobra Kai qualified for the Sekai Taikai, Kwon was ecstatic. “This is everything,” he told you, his dark eyes gleaming with excitement. But you felt a pang of sadness. The tournament would take him away, and you couldn’t stand the thought of not being there to support him.
One evening, as you lay tangled together in his room, you whispered, “What if I came with you?”
He raised an eyebrow. “You don’t fight.”
“I don’t need to. I’m a nurse. Every team needs someone to treat injuries, right?”
He stared at you, processing the idea. “You’d really do that?”
You smiled, stroking his cheek. “I’ll keep your team on their feet. And I’ll be there for you.”
A rare, genuine smile broke across his face. “You’re in."
.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・
The Sekai Taikai venue buzzed with energy. You wore a Cobra Kai jacket, blending into the team. You set up a small first-aid station, organizing bandages and antiseptic wipes. The fighters barely acknowledged you at first, but when Tory took a brutal hit in her first match, you rushed in to help.
“Stay still,” you murmured, pressing an ice pack to Tory’s swollen eye.
Tory winced but said, “Thanks. You know what you’re doing.”
You grinned. “That’s the idea.”
Word spread quickly, and soon, even the toughest fighters respected you. You patched up cuts, wrapped sprains, and kept the team in fighting shape. Kwon watched you from a distance, pride in his eyes. You weren’t just there for him—you were part of the team now.
.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・
Between matches, Kwon grew more intense. He hated seeing you tend to other fighters, especially the boys. When you bandaged Hawk’s hand, Kwon’s jaw tightened.
“Why are you glaring at him?” you asked later in your room.
“I don’t like it,” he muttered. “Them touching you.”
You laughed softly. “I’m a nurse. It’s my job.”
“I know. Doesn’t mean I have to like it.”
You cupped his face. “You’re the only one I care about.”
He pulled you close, his voice low. “I don’t want to lose you.”
“You won’t."
.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・
The semifinal match was brutal. Kwon faced off against a skilled opponent from another dojo, and the fight was ruthless. Your heart pounded as you watched him take hit after hit, refusing to fall. When he finally won, you rushed to his side.
“You’re hurt,” you whispered, examining a deep gash on his arm.
“I’m fine,” he growled, but you saw the pain in his eyes.
“Sit down. Now.”
He obeyed, letting you clean the wound. Your eyes met, and for a moment, the chaos around you disappeared.
“You’re too stubborn,” you murmured.
“And you’re too good for me.”
You smiled. “We make it work.”
.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・
The final match was intense. Kwon fought like a man possessed, driven by something deeper than victory. Every time he looked at you, he saw his reason to win. When the referee raised his hand in victory, the crowd roared, but he only looked for you.
You ran to him, tears in your eyes. “You did it.”
He pulled you close, his voice rough. “I did it for you.”
“You don’t have to fight for me, Kwon.”
“I know. But I will.”
.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・
Back at the hotel, you cleaned Kwon’s wounds, your hands gentle. “You’re going to have scars.”
He smirked. “Makes me look tough.”
“You don’t need scars for that.”
He pulled you onto his lap, his eyes serious. “You saved me out there. Not just today. Every day.”
You touched his face. “We save each other.”
Your lips met, and in that moment, the battles, the injuries, the chaos—they all faded away. All that mattered was you two, together.

૮ neighbor’s argument ྀིა .ᐟ
jaehyun lay on his side, propped up on one elbow, watching you as you curled into the blankets with a soft, tired smile. the warmth of the night light cast a gentle glow over the room, softening the sharp edges of everything that had happened earlier. his hand absentmindedly traced patterns on your arm, and for the first time that day, the weight of the world seemed to lift just a little.
“you know,” he started, his tone light but laced with curiosity, “i’ve been meaning to ask you about something.”
you turned your head toward him, raising a brow. “hm? what’s on your mind?”
he hesitated for a second, then grinned. “ten’s tweet. about, uh… the neighbor argument sounding good as hell. you wouldn’t happen to know what that’s about, would you?”
your cheeks flushed immediately, and you groaned, hiding your face in the pillow. “oh my god, of course he tweeted about that.”
“so you do know,” jaehyun teased, as he tugged the pillow from your hands, grinning mischievously as he plopped it under his head.
you groaned again, “i hate him.”
“c’mon, dandelion, you can’t just leave me hanging like that. spill. what’s the deal with his tweet?”
you sighed, already regretting ever letting ten into your house. “okay, so you remember how you, my mom, and my dad went to get breakfast without me?”
“yeah…” he drew the word out, narrowing his eyes. “wait, is this about those dramatic texts you sent your mom? something about hating me?”
your jaw dropped, and you smacked his arm. “how do you even know about that?!”
“she told me,” jaehyun said, laughing as he dodged another playful swat. “she said you were acting like a brat.”
“well, great,” you muttered, flopping back onto the bed. “i hate this family. all of you.”
“sure you do,” he teased, poking your side.
“debatable,” you quipped, crossing your arms.
jaehyun rolled his eyes fondly, leaning closer. “okay, so what exactly happened? you were texting your mom — what did you say?”
you groaned, already embarrassed. “i might’ve… threatened to cough on your breakfast.”
jaehyun’s laughter burst out of him, loud and uncontrollable. “oh my god! you’re unhinged.”
“i was joking!” you protested, smacking his arm again. “but my mom didn’t think it was funny. she gave me this whole speech about how i’m not a kid anymore and how i should ‘act like a proper wife.’ and then ten overheard her, and that’s why he tweeted about that.”
jaehyun’s laughter softened, his expression growing more thoughtful. “she really said that to you?”
“yeah,” you said quietly, fiddling with the edge of the blanket. “she made it sound like i was embarrassing her or something. like i’m not doing enough, even though i’m trying so hard.”
jaehyun’s teasing demeanor shifted completely. he reached for your hand, threading his fingers through yours. “dandelion,” he murmured, his voice soft but firm, “you’re doing more than enough. you don’t have to prove anything to anyone — not to your mom, not to me, not to anyone.”
your chest tightened at the sincerity in his tone. “i just… i feel like i’m always messing up. like i don’t know how to be what everyone expects me to be.”
jaehyun scoffed, shaking his head. “first of all, screw expectations. who cares what anyone thinks you’re supposed to be? you’re you, and that’s more than enough. honestly, you’re so good at this whole marriage thing, i feel like i’m the one struggling to keep up.”
you blinked at him, caught off guard. “what are you talking about? you’re literally perfect.”
he snorted, rolling onto his back dramatically. “oh, please. i accidentally left the laundry in the machine for, like, three days last week. and don’t even get me started on the whole grocery list fiasco. you’re the one holding this whole operation together.”
a laugh bubbled out of you despite yourself. “jae, forgetting to switch the laundry doesn’t mean you’re bad at being married.”
“exactly,” he shot back, rolling onto his side to face you again. “and teasing you about threatening to cough on my breakfast doesn’t mean you’re bad at it, either.”
you smiled, warmth blooming in your chest. “i guess.”
“not ‘i guess,’” he said, booping your nose. “it’s a fact. you’re amazing, and i’m lucky you even tolerate me.”
“you’re so annoying,” you grumbled, but the smile on your face gave you away.
“and yet,” he said, pulling you closer until your forehead rested against his, “you’re still married to me.”
“unfortunately,” you teased, earning an exaggerated gasp from him.
“take it back,” he said, poking your side again.
“make me,” you shot back, laughing.
he grinned, his arms tightening around you. “i’ll just smother you with love until you give in.”
“fine, fine!” you relented, still laughing. “you win. you’re the best husband ever.”
“and don’t you forget it,” he said, kissing the tip of your nose.

Light Yagami can be defined by 4 words - high intelligence/low wisdom.
Yes lmao. I was talking to somebody a little while back who said that he’s actually an idiot for the choices he makes and that he’s not nearly as smart as he thinks he is.
I said that he absolutely IS as smart as he thinks he is. But being cognitively efficient isn’t equivalent to understanding the complexities and nuances of human nature (that comes with aging and experience in which Light didn’t have enough of yet) and Light isn’t even aware that he lacks in that area because well…how could he?
He’s had his ass kissed his whole life so much for not only being academically inclined, but also handsome and high achieving that generally he lives in a comfortable bubble. One where he doesn’t HAVE to deal with people more intimately and emotionally in order to be at peace with them, because his privilege has been his immunity and protection from emotional vulnerability.
Light thinks he’s well off because he has prestige and opportunity that he’s probably been taught not to take for granted by his hardworking father and his culture and society as a whole. Not even considering that he’s lonely and unfulfilled because he doesn’t really know love and acceptance that isn’t tied to these superficial achievements.
I like to headcanon that the Yagami family wasn’t always financially stable and Light internalized that as a child. Which makes Light value being hardworking and responsible, but also makes him resent having to rely on others or be vulnerable in a way that they can look down on him (and maybe even makes him disassociate from that period of his life).
(And also makes him a cheapskate/frugal but that’s just me thinking about him not wanting to buy Ryuk a game boy advanced SP in silver. I’m just rambling now).

I can’t let this go but I just think it makes an awful lot of sense with everything we’ve seen of Stolas, his power of Prophecy and how he reacted in Mastermind, if he does have some foreknowledge he is applying as best he can. And I don’t think it necessarily has to do with Blitz which explains why he didn’t know about the trial or about anything about Blitz specifically that we’ve seen except for “I have my ways” but also the odd aside I can’t get out of my brain, about giving up his freedom for this idiot. Why freedom and not his life if that’s what he was giving up? I was wondering if something else happens to Goetia when they die?
But if Stolas has seen Octavia’s future, and knows that she will have taken the reins and come into his powers and position, he would be under the assumption for most of her life (since he sang to her as a very little girl that he would leave her but she’d be okay) that he was going to die relatively young. Which is why he doesn’t ask about Octavia when he thinks they are going to kill him, he assumes this is when it happens, but he does react when they don’t and they take his position away, and banish him, this isn’t the moment he thought it was, perhaps. Perhaps his devastation in this moment is also that they will be apart for what he believes will be a limited time left. I didn’t hear anything in the court sentence that would preclude Octavia from seeing him, she sees regular denizens of hell all the time, but if he knows he just fucked up by assuming this was the end and it wasn’t, and that now he’s still alive and his daughter will think he was fine dying for his boyfriend and leaving her behind, that’s much worse than just dying with the peace that you saved the man you love and that your daughter will be fine afterward. He has to live with the consequences now, with potentially a death sentence prophecy still hanging over his head, a man who at this point he hasn’t had a proper conversation with regarding their relationship, no home, no powers, no job and he just did something that’s going to alienate his daughter further. If he believes he’s going to die, then not having his powers and the protection of his immortality is probably a good way to get there. He might be feeling that noose tighten when he thought it was going to be a quick drop. This situation means it won’t be as painless as he thought it would, and it explains why he’s kind of passively okay with what happens after. It doesn’t matter anyway and now he’s lost everything and is in what he might consider his end game.
It explains a lot about his personality too imo, if you looked into your kids future and didn’t see yourself in it but did see them being okay, being powerful and strong without you, wouldn’t that change how you interacted with them a bit? Preparing them for it but also trying to see things through to get them to the point you saw? That’s maybe why he stays with Stella, to raise Octavia to the point he saw her in the future, and why he seems to brush off her concerns about losing him because he knows it to be inevitable and he also has always known she’d be fine without him.
At first with Blitz it was an opportunity to have some fun, that’s why he makes the deal. It also explains why he wasn’t more concerned about the legality of the grimoire, only berating them when they were being super obvious with it. Or why he didn’t seem to be bothered with the grimoire at all save for what appears to be a lackadaisical approach to his duties. He never thought he’d live to see any consequences from Blitz using it. Some of that could just be privilege but he seems to be under the impression that it is a heinous crime that he’d be killed for during the trial, he was surprised when it wasn’t. Some of that is him realizing the class disparity but it could also be that he really thought “Oh this is how it happens.” Maybe he thought this was the moment. He probably assumed that nothing was going to happen to his powers and station if Octavia has them in the future, so of course he just dies at the trial. And when he doesn’t and realizes oh shit, there’s more, it’s not right now, and now he’s totally fucked up the little life he had and its NOT the end he loses it a bit.
His focus on romance and forcing these romantic scenarios also makes sense, if you are trying to fit in as much as you can, finally someone brings you something fresh and new, and will maybe make your last little bit more enjoyable, you might be a little desperate and over the top about it. Then he caught real feelings and wanted the full grand romance. It made sense for him for that to be the reason, this huge changing force comes into your life and then suddenly you have to sacrifice yourself to save them? Makes sense if you know your number is up soon.
Don’t get me wrong, if that is the case it’s still selfish to both Octavia and and Blitz but it is understandable, and I think it makes some things fit a bit neater imo. I could also see him maybe seeing Blitz being successful and loved by the imp populace and that’s why he encourages his business so much? It would explain the recognition after so long in that case.
I could be totally wrong about all of this, it’s 3am and I haven’t gone through the whole series with this in mind so I probably am, but I do think he might know something, and like most characters dealing with prophecy he’s slotting the puzzle pieces into the wrong places and coming up with a totally different picture than what is actually going to happen.

Order from worst to best and finna add my own ships to replace it
1. Stoliz
This one should be a no brainer like sorry to all the people who love fucked up relationships but I don’t in fact I find all the moments that they’re being “loving dovey” with each other forced (ex Seeing Stars) also hate how they dunk on Blitzø for his shit but doesn’t give Stolas shit for not only starting this bs with that fuck ass deal but literally looking down on him (seriously when he said he never looked down on him, I face palmed cause what the fuck.
Replace it with Blitz x Fizz I feel like they would act like a normal, charming couple (unlike Fizz x Ozzie who just do too much it’s fine but like I honestly prefer this) plus even tho it was rush the backstory they have is cool.
2. Radioapple
Enemies to lovers is a hella of a drug that junkies will shove into anything and everything
Imma be real I don’t ship them with anyone it’s far more interesting to keep both of them single, have Lucifer actually move on from Lilith and have the divorce be due to his pride (cause he’s the sin of pride). And Alastor really doesn’t need a relationship tbh him being aroace is perfect tbh.
3. Charlie and her ex
I don’t know who that guy is so I’m 50/50 he can either be a Chaz clone or a diet Verosika.
Replace with Chaggie ig it’s fine for the most part only problem is Vaggie has no character outside of Charlie girlfriend and her half ass backstory.
4. Bee x Loona
Imma be real I lowkey ship this, I know Loona was rude to Bee but not to the point that I would hate to see them together, their dynamic is cool they have decent chemistry and both are interesting characters that I would love to see grow.

“you don’t have to apologize for askin’ questions or havin’ little trust in me, i understand it all. i don’t mind answerin’ your questions and i know that trust comes with time, it’s fine. we’re alright,” the blue-eyed man assures, smiling softly despite the ache in his jaw. god, she got him real good. that rusty, metallic taste of blood still lingers on his tongue. “yeah, guess so. but my brother? how’d you convince him to live that life with you?” there are pieces of the story missing and billy’s just trying to fill in the gaps, put the timeline together. “sorry, i just can’t picture him livin’ anywhere but at the capitol.” if he’s anything like their father, and from what she’s told him, that’s exactly who he aspires to be, he must have hated it in twelve. “he did,” billy insists, his gaze unwavering, piercing hues studying her expression. “why? i mean… you’ve got your whole life ahead of you, lucy gray. you can’t just abandon all hope and starve or freeze to death out here.” why does he care what happens to her? she’s not his responsibility, not his child or his wife, not even his friend, and yet her words have his heart sinking. she can’t waste her life away out here. she deserves much better.
“hm? what’s that? oh.” she’s singing a song, he realizes and falls silent. hypnotized by the melody alone, listening to lucy gray’s sweet voice, billy almost forgets about the task at hand. the lyrics are heart-rending, filled with emotion. she sounds like someone who’s at peace with whatever future holds for her, willing to just give up on everything and die, or so it seems to billy. pale blue eyes filling with tears, but he’s quick to blink them away, even if his chest continues to constrict and tighten, making it difficult to breathe. he won’t let her do that. he won’t let her sit here and wait for her time to come. “beautiful song,” he whispers, lowering his gaze, afraid if he keeps on looking at her, he will break down and cry. “and i’m sorry to hear that.” are all her friends gone? is she really all alone in the world?
the desolate scream that escapes her has the whole cabin shaking, windows rattling, and billy finds himself muttering apologies under his breath. “you’re doin’ so good, we’re almost done, lucy gray, almost done” he promises, wishing he could just wrap his arms around her and comfort her. instead, he briefly rests his other hand on her good knee, caressing it, saying i know we’re not friends but i’m here for you. though, maybe, hopefully this is cathartic in some way, maybe she needs to let it all go, wail and scream… it’s plain to see the physical pain is nowhere near the worst thing that’s happened to her, and he just feels for her. “you’re so strong. one of the strongest people i’ve met.” he works quickly but thoroughly, cleaning the wound, lathering it in iodine and using a few clean cloths to create a makeshift bandage, wrapping the fabric around her leg and tying it so that it stays in place. “there you go, lucy gray. all done. we’ll change it in the morning, see how it’s doing.” if it’s getting worse. he gathers the dirty rags, as well as the bowl with now cold water and sets them aside, near the door. he’ll wash them clean in the morning, hang them to dry if the weather clears. he wants to help her, but doesn’t know how, and so he just stands beside her, calloused fingers carefully stroking her hair, wary as though he was dealing with a wild animal. “just let it go… things will get better, lucy gray. they always do.”
“thanks…” that would come out more enthusiastically if he wasn’t coriolanus. but the fact he was, just means— it’s all contrived. “sorry, i guess i’m just not used to it.” not from him. when does he notice that things like her childhood toys mean a lot to her? “it’s all i’ve known to do so i reckon i have no choice but to say i like it.” the twang on her voice drawls, a wry laugh sounding from her. “he did. you did.” more than turned… revealed he was a killer the entire time and was just waiting the right moment to put a bullet in her chest. “stayin’ right here, i guess. since i can’t return to twelve, not now. and really darlin’… i don’t really have much care what happens anymore.” thinks she might just go curl up in that bed, close her eyes and sing herself to a peaceful death. you’re headed for heaven, the sweet old here after. and i’ve got one foot in the door, but before i can fly up, i’ve got loose ends to tie up. right here in the old therebefore. humming her song now. “when i’ve burned out both ends. when i’ve cried all my tears,” she quietly sing-talks her way through to try and distract herself from the leg pain, “when i’ve conquered my fears. right here, in the old therebefore. when nothin’ is left anymore.” the last part striking a nerve, exactly describing why she’s even singing her saddest song. she’s burned out both ends, cried all her tears, conquered her fears and nothing is now truly left…anymore. “his story’s ended. gone to heaven, if the lord allowed it.” hopefully he repented somehow, but she doubts he even saw his life ending so abruptly.
it’s fine, she thinks, she doesn’t need his shoulders for support. until she does. it jolts through her at once, pain shooting up her thigh, toes digging into the wood and her socks, a wince and her hand tightening against his shirt, other hand clutching the bottom of her seat. biting her bottom lip, trying to be usually tough, but the feeling and the look of her flesh makes her nauseous so quickly— stomach muscles caving in at how terribly pain shoots through her again. bottom lip that’s been wobbling, teeth let go when a cry rips through her throat. shifting in her seat to bury her face in the back of the chair, tears exploding out of her eyes as face is hidden, matted curls curtaining around her jaw. she’s fought the pain so long, it just keeps barreling out in heavy exasperated cries. leg pain, mental and emotional pain, exhaustion pain. it’s all collectively releasing at once. upset she’s been beaten down so much, gotten up every single time, but at her wits end— she’s gave her all and she’s completely shutting down this time. lucy gray can’t be that girl who gets up anymore, it’s why her weeping is so relentless and loud. the leg pain just added to the fuel now.
#billysgirllol#gosh this got so long smh but this is payback for making us cry :( its so sad#her lil song :(((

Hello, i loved all your LU scenarios, specially the ones where the chain reacts to their games, they were so well written.
I was wondering if you could do some scenarios where the reader talks about some Zelda trivia with the chain, like the development of some games (Majoras mask was made in just one year and the director of Zelda don't like it, there were supposed to be more dungeons in Wind Waker) or the reception of their releases (Four swords adventures sold less than a million copies, WW was poorly recieved unlike TP for it's art style, this changed as time passed, etc.), perhaps some easter eggs or cameos (Talon and Ingo looks like Mario and Luigi, Link appears in other games as a cameo).
Okay, but why is this lowkey me 😭. My autistic ass would NOT shut up about their games, even if I was telling them stuff they didn't want to hear about.
It was a peaceful day. The chain had found an inn to stay at for the night. Nobody was injured. Supplies and spirits were high. Until Wind decided to ask you a question.
“So, if our adventures are games, does that mean you know everything that happened during them? Like everyone we met, everything we did, EVERYTHING?” Wind asked. Some of the other Links brustled, clearly uncomfortable with the question and what you might say. You smile nervously.
“Basically? But you don’t talk in the games, so I don’t know anything you said.”
“But who made the games? How do they know about our adventures?” Wind asked.
“Oooh boy.” You scratched the back of your head, “There’s a company called Nintendo, they made most of the Legend of Zelda games. I think Four’s games were made by a different company, though. That’s why some of the details are a bit screwy.”
“What’s that supposed to mean!?” Four snapped his head up to look at you, forgetting the weapon he had been working on.
“Oh, uh…” you stammered, “Well, the other company made your games, but they didn’t use the same stories as Nintendo did, so the lore gets a bit weird. Like, your Ganon is probably a completely unrelated guy from the Ganon that Time, Wind, Hyrule, Legend, and Twilight all had to deal with. The way he randomly turns into a pig in your game after getting that trident or whatever doesn’t match up at all with how Ganondorf turns into a pig after being sealed away by Time’s Zelda in an alternate timeline where Time dies during the final battle.”
“Wait, there’s a timeline where Time DIED?” Twilight is behind you now, and you’re not sure when he got there. You turn to look at him, his face full of panic.
“Yeah, Ocarina of Time kind of broke the timeline into three different paths. The game was so popular it became, like, the most important part of the timeline. It actually sold so well that the people who made the game made a sequel to it, Majora’s Mask, in under a year, which is kind of insane. For context, Ocarina of Time took over twice that long to make.” Time raised an eyebrow at your explanation, but decided he didn’t want to know more.
“Wait, if there are multiple timelines, how can you know which of our adventures are ours and which were just really similar? The many timelines means there’s infinite possibilities.” Sky asked, reminding everyone that he was the only Link to ever attend school (and remember it), and apparently he studied multiverse theory???? Moving on.
“Well, there are some differences between languages, I guess? Like, in the English version of Link’s Awakening, there’s a quest to get a mermaid’s lost necklace, but that was just a change the translators made. In the original Japanese, the quest is to get the mermaid’s bikini top.” You chatter on, missing the blush that creeps up Legend’s neck and ears. “And some of the items in Wind Waker are mixed around between the English and Japanese versions. Like maps, heart containers, and rupees are in each other's spots.”
“Can we go back to the part where there’s multiple Ganons, apparently?” Wild gripped the edge of the table, his knuckles white. You hadn’t notice him sit down. Actually, the whole chain seemed to be listening now. Wuh-oh.
“Oh, well, not at one time. Unless the dragon cutscenes from Tears of the Kingdom happen after Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild is after all the other games. Then, Calamity Ganon was just kind of… chilling under Hyrule Castle while Four and Time dealt with their respective Ganons. But fans still argue about where your games fit on the timeline.” You shrug, trying to downplay how absolutely terrifying dealing with two Ganons at once would be.
“Wait, why do fans argue? Isn’t there an official timeline?” Hyrule asked. You groan.
“Yes, but it was published before Breath of the Wild was released, so we need to figure out where it is on the timeline based on the stuff in game, which is hard, because there's so many easter eggs.”
“Easter… eggs?” Warriors tilts his head.
“Items or decorations that reference other games. Like, in A Link Between Worlds, Legend’s house has Majora’s Mask hanging on the wall for no discernable reason. And in Breath of the Wild, there’s areas named after places in Link’s Awakening, like Koholit Rock and Goponga Island, which makes no sense because those places were dreamt up by a wind fish. Not to mention the fact the ruins of Lon Lon Ranch can be found, but there’s no way that structure would have been in as good of condition as it is for how old it is. And Lurelin village is an almost exact copy of Outset Island, but again, the timing is just too far apart.”
“But you never answered my other question.” Wind tapped your shoulder, stopping what would have been an hour-long rant on where Wild’s games fit on the official timeline. “How did ‘Nintendo’ or whoever else know about our adventures with that much detail?”
“UHHHHHH………. OH WOULD YOU LOOK AT THE TIME.” You quickly stand up from the table and launch yourself out the nearest window, escaping the conversation. (You were on the first floor. You’re fine).

Why do you think Sirius gave up on his family? Do you think he thought they would forgive him for becoming friends with a blood traitor so he just did what he wanted but as the war progressed he realized he has to actually make a choice? Like he took it as a rebellion and angst at the beginning and only later realized how real the pressure was? Did he not love them enough? What was the deal there? (I know you are a Snape account but I love your takes on other characters as well that's why I'm asking for your opinion on this. Btw I read your fic and I love the way you write Snape's internal dilemas)
Well, you can ask me about any character—I don’t exclusively talk about Severus hahaha and i love to rant about things so... Also, Sirius? Can’t stand him. But I like him as a character because I find him so cynical and hypocritical that he’s absolutely fascinating. I’ve always had this love-hate relationship with rich kids from ultra-conservative families who play at being progressives and think they’re these righteous justice warriors but, at the end of the day, are still just privileged kids with privileged prejudices and privileged habits. And I mean that sincerely—no irony intended. I’ve met plenty of people like that in my life, and I think Sirius is a very realistic representation of the cognitive dissonance that people like this tend to have.
That said, here’s something I’ve always thought. Obviously, this is a personal headcanon based on my own experiences with people who fit his profile, but I think it holds water. Usually, people like this—those who grow up in oppressive environments and eventually become atheist anti-religion types, join the communist party to scandalize their ultra-right-wing parents, or turn into crypto bros after ditching the vegan hippie commune their parents raised them in—do this stuff in late adolescence, almost as adults. But Sirius? He starts rebelling really early, as a kid. By the time he’s 11, he already feels the need to rebel against his family.
It happens the moment he meets James, when James establishes that Slytherin is the worst. Sirius comments—offhandedly, without any resentment or anger—that his whole family’s been in Slytherin. He doesn’t seem like he’s at war with them yet, but you can tell he kind of likes the idea of not being in Slytherin just to piss them off. Add to that the fact that he hints in OotP that his dad was a pushover and calls Regulus an idiot—like he was just a fool—but he doesn’t seem truly resentful toward either of them. Sure, they didn’t have a great relationship, but when he talks about them, it’s more with antipathy than hatred. All of this leads me to the same conclusion: mommy issues.
Sirius had major mommy issues—or at least, that’s how I see it. Rich boys with daddy issues rebel by trying to become powerful men, detached from the arena where their fathers succeeded, but determined to surpass them. Rich boys with mommy issues? They turn into psychos. Seriously, that’s just how it works—I don’t make the rules. I think Sirius always clashed hard with Walburga because (and this is my favorite part, because this isn’t just a headcanon; I’m absolutely convinced of this from the little we see of their interactions—or of him with the portrait—in the books) they had the same shitty personality.
Walburga was a dominant, explosive woman with an imposing, even despotic, character. It’s very reminiscent of Bellatrix and, by extension, very much like Sirius. I think Regulus and Orion had similar personalities—the same kind Narcissa shows: arrogant, smug, classist, but restrained and composed. Egocentric, but calm. Walburga, Sirius, and Bellatrix are the other side of that aristocratic coin: the type who believe they’re entitled to everything and everyone, the kind who bulldoze over everything in their path. They’re wild and uncontrollable personalities, especially if someone tries to rein them in.
In my mind, Sirius took after his mom, and Walburga couldn’t stand having someone so much like her constantly challenging her authority. Sirius, meanwhile, couldn’t stand her trying to control him. So at age 11, his rebellion was probably just a tantrum aimed at his mom, a way to piss her off as much as possible. From there—and thanks to James’s influence, as well as the credit Sirius gave James because, spoiler-not-spoiler, James was also a rich pureblood wizard like him—he started adopting James’s worldview. Not because it was rooted in firm beliefs or clear reasoning, but because James had a family that wasn’t insane, so he was probably right. And if parroting James’s ideas at home gave his mom a few gray hairs, all the better.
It snowballed and escalated until the relationship was unsalvageable. James offered him a place to stay if he wanted to leave, and Sirius moved out. But the start of it all? A tantrum aimed at mommy. Sirius has some massive mommy issues he just can’t handle. And the funniest part? He’ll do anything to avoid being like her. He’ll go to any length to do the exact opposite of what she would do. But in the end, because they share the same awful personality, he behaves in the same violent, despotic, narcissistic way she did—just with different victims: Kreacher or Severus, for example.
It’s a brilliant little Oedipal case study.
