Round 3, Match 19: Artemy Burakh vs. Kazuma Kiryu

Submitted kids:
Artemy Burakh: Murky and Sticky (+others)
Kazuma Kiryu: Haruka, Ayako, Eri, Riona, Izumi, Taichi, Koji, Mitsuo, and Shiro
Propaganda under the cut!
Artemy Burakh:
1. “Pathologic is not the kind of game you expect to make your mother instincts kick in but it indeed does.
The adoption spree starts with the second game protagonist, Artemy, being given a list of 7 children who will inherit the city one day. He does become an important figure in their lifes, but truly adopts only two. Orphans named Murky and Sticky.
After learning about a secret hideout his father had, he goes to check and Sticky is just there. He was a some sort of a student of his father, but didn't learn much. Artemy calls him a stray cat and later house imp, but lets him stay. Slowly they grow close with Artemy promising to teach Sticky how to become a doctor. Throughout the game they have a ton of cute moments with Sticky trying to help the best he can, but breaking equipment while Artemy is away. Also they needed to fix the brewing machine and sticky said he has a guy who owes him one. When they arrive at the place the first thing he says is "distract him the best you can while I work". After you complain about it, he first says he needs stealing to survive, but then calls it the form of art. It's impossible not to love him.
Murky is a lonely autistic girl who lives in a train cabin by herself. With each day you play she slowly starts staying by your house more and more. In the middle of the game Artemy had to catch a deadly plague for her to survive. It can interpreted as her fault, but right after he finds her and asks to come back home. Throughout the game she often says "I don't love you. There is no reason for me to love you". But after getting sick herself she finally says "I love you and always loved". Bro I cried. Also the most important part. Her russian name is Mishka. It can be translated as teddy bear or bear cub. Artemys childhood nickname is Bear and his home is called "lair". Bear family...
Sticky and Murky often argue between themselves, but reconcile in the end. One time he stole some sugar and made a lollipop for her... She says "I don't mind having kinda brother" the same way she says "I don't mind being your kinda daughter" to Artemy.
In one of the game endings they stand in front of artemys old house asking if they will live there and which rooms they can take.
Children adoption: successful”
Link to the rest coming soon!
Kazuma Kiryu:
1. “There's a pretty big section of one of the game that's entirely about taking care of all those kids and it's all really sweet !”
2. “How the fuck did he get 9. There’s like 6-8 games where he’s the main character and he adopts haruka rlly early, but then in one game in the middle of the series, in the beginning like opening scenes he’s like avtually fuck it I’m adopting an ENTIRE orphanage/eight WHOLE children. (not a bit like. He actually did that) he’s the silliest billy badass old man. Grampy Kiryu also, bc haruka has a kid now.”

Get to Know Me - Sims Edition
Thank you @honeybeenrw and @stargazer-sims for tagging me 🙇💕
If it seems like a lot of text, don't force yourself to read it, you can simply ignore it. Sometimes I write too much, I know.
1.- What’s your favorite sims death? Sims eaten by cowplants, although there is an anecdote from when I was little that is very funny because I had a little "trauma" with that death. When I first played The Sims Take the Street on PS2 (the first sims game I played for the first time in my life) together with Lea, we made sims from Fushigi Yugi and we put them to live in a house… They all ended up being eaten by mutant plant (a plant similar to cowplant in that time), being the last one Amiboshi just after his twin brother Suboshi… It was one of our first games so adding a mutant plant was like, "What is this? Let's put it in, it sounds fun" and it ended up being a bit of a shock since at that time we had no internet, no guides or anything and everything was new, from that time for me at the end, after that experience it's ended up being fun, so being eaten by a (cow)plant it's one of my favorites sims death.
2.- Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Maxis Mix, I absolutly like more Maxis Match for hair, but with clothes I usually use both Maxis Match and/or Alpha, same with makeup or skin details, so yes, I'm consider myself Maxis Mix more towards Maxis Match.
3.- Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Why? When it comes to my/our OCs (Lea's and mine) we leave them as they wish to be, because they've gained or lost it by themselves because they have so wished, in fact one of our OCs, Carla, when gained more weight even became much more beautiful than when she had less weight, at least from our point of view.
4.- Do you use move objects? Yes, quite a lot when I have to place a lot of clutter together or I have to place in a special way the constructions to do what I want and look for.
5.- Favorite mod? I would say MCCC, but there are many times it causes me a headache.
6.- First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? Get to Work on realease. (Lea bought it, not me, but he likes to share, I mean it's stupid to buy the same thing twice when in gameplay we play together)
7.- Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? I pronounce "Modo Vivir", but if it's in English then like aLIVE.
8.- Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? I have quite a few… They're all my cute babies, Ryuuya, Luka, Aris, Jack, Kyle, Kyla, Noah, Icaro, Carla. Lux, Kaoru, Ainosuke, Rin, Haruka, and many more but the list would go on and on... Sorry I can't choose... (And yeah we have a lot of original sims that we don't show here yet 😆)
9.- Have you made a simself? I did it once, when toddlers came out, I made myself into a toddler for a contest, but I have never done it again, and that simself no longer exists.
10.- What sim traits did you give yourself? With pack Growing Together that came out I can officially add more than three, right? Creative, Socially awkward, Ambitious, Music lover, Geek and Perfectionist. (The limit is 3 more traits, so I can't put Cat fan, Dog fan and Animal enthusiast [although these three should be considered more likes and dislikes, I don't understand how it can still be in traits], so I have them present but didn't add them, because I consider more as likes and dislikes).
11.- What is your favorite EA hair color? Red. I like black, but it changes and varies so much between different hairs and many of them look gray or bluish that they're no longer my favorite.
12.- Favorite EA hair? The two hairs that were added when Incheon Arrivals Kit came out and the hair from Snowy Escape that has two little clips on it.
13.- Favorite life stage? I don't have any favorite life stage, because all life stages are special in one way or another and I try to create sims of all kinds of ages, although maybe the ones I have the most are teenagers/young adults because I usually create a lot of sims based on video games/anime/shows if that makes sense, so people may consider those to be my favorite kind of stages.
14.- Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? Let's see, I would consider myself mixed, or versatile. During the day from time to time I would consider myself a builder, especially when I make constructions with references that help me to locate myself (although there are times that I also make them without a base, but it takes me a long time to finish them and I consider myself a noob, Kitta's house, Dope Sketch I look at all of you just now). On the other hand, during the night before going to sleep and after dinner I'm more of a gameplay person and I have a lot of fun playing together with Lea.
15.- Are you a CC creator? Yes, I love to create CAS CC (hair, clothes, shoes, accessories, etc…), construction CC (furniture, clutter, whatever I need depending on the moment), small modifications in the sims, I'm usually very versatile, I do recolors and frankmeshing too although most of the things I love to do are from scratch (with references that aren't mine or concept arts that I draw previously which are usually mine) to learn even more, so I usually take a lot of time but I have a lot of fun. Although around here what I usually share with everyone, are hairs made from scratch, some other skin details, poses and conversions from other games.
16.- Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? Not that I know of. The person I interact with the most around here is Lea but that's because we are family/best friends and spend a lot of time together, so for me it's like day to day. I would love to be able to have a constant energy and mood so I can interact more to make and keep friends around here. I write from time to time with people and would like to consider them friends but since we don't interact much or very constantly, I don't know if they consider me friends or if they would just consider me mutuals. I know of some people that we consider each other friends but we don't talk much either lately because I'm in my stage of writing little with people. But I don't refuse anyone or anyone who wants to interact with me and in the future something might come out of those interactions (friendship or... what's a squad? srsly I don't know it), I'm quite social/asocial and insecure, sometimes I write a lot and sometimes I write very little with people, so I don't know what they currently think of me.
17.- What’s your favorite game? Have a lot, Kingdom Hearts (yes, I went through the time when you needed different consoles to play the whole saga), Final Fantasy series, The Sims series, Life is Strange series, Resident Evil series, Tomb Raider series, Tales of Zestiria, Arc the Lad series, Minecraft, Spyro series, Crash Bandicoot series, Genshin Impact and I'm sure there are many more games that I haven't tried yet that I could add to the list in the future.
18.- Do you have any Sims merch? Nothing.
19.- Do you have a YouTube for sims? I don't have one, but I would love to, although I don't think anyone would be interested. I mean if you share something it's for someone else to see it and if no one would be interested then it would be like exposing yourself to the world but without being seen. I don't know if I make myself clear. I know that stories of your own sims/anything you do in the community have more room for other people when you do it as video, because when you talk they feel more empathetic with your stories/what you explain but my English is not very good and talking in general/talking to my sims is not my forte (that's something Lea is better at)
20.- How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? Pictures speak louder than words. I don't have sims screenshots I took in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 because I can't access the external USB drive were on, so I'll limit myself to The Sims 4 screenshots.
A written summary would be that I currently use more sliders and presets, use 3D eyelashes and natural nails for all my sims and use eye makeup to give more volume to the "eyelashes" and give them more "life". And try to make more different types of noses, faces, eye shapes, etc…. Besides adding natural lips as "make up" (when they don't wear makeup) to make them more "realistic" within my sims realism.
21.- What’s your Origin ID? I don't have anything shared, so I don't know if it's really important to say.
22.- Who’s your favorite CC creator? I have a few and they're the ones I use the most in my gameplays shared with Lea in our sims. They're all amazing so allé voy, @/pralinesims, @/simandy, @/happy-misanthropist (although is currently retired), @/obscurus-sims, @/raccoonium, @/falsogod, @/iowaisms, @/saruin, @/xxxtaiyaki, @/kijiko-sims, @/acha-sims, @/simmireen, @/lea-heartscxiv (yeah is with whom I share my sims game and he makes recolors mainly for me and him) and myself (self-esteem should never be lacking).
23.- How long have you had a simblr? Since last year, end of April 2022.
24.- How do you edit your pictures? So far the only things I use are Photoshop and Clip Studio, but I don't retouch pictures so much, I just "improved" problems with scratches that appear in some parts of sims, eyelashes that are displayed wrong, etc… And then I put one or two tonal change filters in Photoshop, but out of CC I use on sims, it's pretty vanilla the final pictures. If I were to do something else at some point, I would probably put unretouched edit under the cut line to see the differences.
25.- What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? If I had to say one for how the world is shown, CAS, objects and gameplay I would say Snowy Escape.
26.- What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? Seriously writing, refreshes. I would like to see refreshes and improvements of base game, an impossible dream, I know. Especially refreshes of Realm of Magic and Get To Work. Since Lea and I were forced to switch to EAAppsh*t we haven't bought anything from them anymore.
I know. It's only 26 questions and I've almost written a book just answering them, sometimes I get too excited writing when I know what I'm talking about 💦 Now time for the tags:
I'm tagging @lea-heartscxiv, @falsogod, @freedomending, @pralinesims, @saruin, @the-daydream-archives and @dizzyrobinsims
If you already done it, please ignore and if you have it handy tag me in the one you already did so I can see it, because maybe I missed it or wasn't connected the day you did it. If you don't feel like doing it, you can just skip it. And to anyone who wants to do so, feel free to tag me. If you share as a favorite death the cowplant one, don't wonder anymore if you should or shouldn't do it, do it, for all the sims who have fallen eaten by cowplants.

milgram character ask game ! send the character + the questions
Kusunoki, Muu/ Mu Kusunoki
6. favorite relationships with another character in the prison?
My favorite relationship for Mu is with Yuno. Because the development of their relationship perfectly illustrates what went wrong with her relationship with Rei in real time.
20/06/04 Yuno: Huh, so you go to that high school. So, you are from a rich family then~! I mean, you already gave off that vibe though. What year are you in? Mu: First year…… Kashiki… san…… you’re older than me, right? Yuno: Yeah, I’m in third year. But you can just call me Yuno, I don’t really like the stuffy formalities. It doesn’t really matter who’s older and who’s younger. If you squint, we’re basically the same age anyway. Mu: ……fufu, what’s with that? But ok…… I’ll call you Yuno from now on. 20/10/16 (Mu’s First Trial) Mu: Uu…… uuu…… scared…… I’m scared…… 20/10/24 (Shidou’s Birthday) Shidou: Birthday…… Now that you mention it, it has got to that time of year. Thank you for going out of your way for me. Mu: ……Shidou-san, you don’t seem very happy. You’re the one whose birthday is today, you should smile more. Shidou: No, I am smiling…… even if it doesn’t show. I’m really glad that you’re celebrating for me, Kusunoki-kun. Mu: Is that so……? It doesn’t look like it at all though. I’m not satisfied. 21/06/22 (Haruka’s Birthday) Mu: Haruka-kun, are you awake……? Happy birthday. Haruka: M-Mu-san? I… I-I’m awake…… Th-thank you, very much. I’m… glad…… Mu: ………… Shall we talk? You know, recently I’ve been pretty interested in you. Haruka: ……!! I-in me…? Hehe, hehehe…… interested, in me. 21/07/05 (Mu’s Birthday) Mu: Yuno. Don’t you have something to say to me? Yuno: Huh? To you? Me? ……ahh, uh? Your birthday, right? Happy birthday~ Mu: How mean… Since it’s my birthday, I really wish you’d said something before I had to come and tell you myself. Yuno: Right, right, I’m sorry. I’ll be more careful in future~ Later! Haha… things have become even more of a bother… ……so was that Mu-chan’s real personality, then? It’s probably because the guard did something, right?
22/07/05 (Mu’s Birthday) Mu: Hey~~~ Isn’t everyone a bit gloomy lately? I get that this situation isn’t ideal, but you’re really bringing down the mood for my birthday. Yuno: Haha, surely even you can tell now’s not really the time for something like that right. Nobody’s really in the mood, or rather nobody has time time to deal with something like that. Mu: Boo, how boring. You seem to be free, you can celebrate for me. Go on, celebrate. Yuno: Wow, what a pain. I’m reading the atmosphere properly and keeping quiet. Well, you just go and have fun with Haruka. In the corner somewhere- So you’re out of everyone’s way.
"There’s no special meaning, I got the short end of the stick. I overheard, I found out- How much I’m not needed."
Q.11 Which of the other prisoners do you get along with least? Yuno: I wonder... The ones that are painful just to watch are Haruka and Mu-chan. [ I don’t really like the stuffy formalities. It doesn’t really matter who’s older and who’s younger.] Q.12 Are there any prisoners you don’t get on with? Mu: Yuno has been really cold lately so maybe her a bit. 23/06/22 (Haruka’s Birthday) Mu: Haruka-kun, I brought your food. Are you still alive? Has any mould started growing? Haruka: ……ah, thank you very much. Mu-san. Sorry, um…… I…… Mu: You shouldn’t just lock yourself in your room all day. You have to eat your food properly. Hm, well…… I do understand why you’re feeling down. It feels bad. The atmosphere recently. Haruka: Um, I’m totally fine…… Just a bit, I’m thinking, about how to do it. What to do, what to do, to…… fulfil my promise. For Mu-san’s sake…… 23/07/05 (Mu’s Birthday) Futa: Oi, you. Is he ok? He’s not even left his room lately. Mu: You mean Haruka-kun? Hmm. Yeah, probably. I’ve been bringing all his meals to him so he should be fine. Isn’t that great of me? Futa: Hah? Who the hell says that sort of thing about themself. …..ah, no, well, right now I understand a bit. When you’re feeling down, it’s nice to have someone who relies on you and accepts you. The rest of us can’t really understand you from where we’re standing. But well, if you’re Haruka’s “salvation” then I guess it really is great. Mu: Salvation……? I don’t know what you mean. Futa-kun, you don’t sound like yourself. Did you hit your head or something? Oh, wait, you actually did, didn’t you. Ahaha. Ah, putting that aside though, did you know it’s my birthday today?
They're clearly both rubbing eachother in the wrong way and unlike Mu's previous victim if she tries the same thing with Yuno she'll be the one dying. I would be greatly dissappointed in Yuno if she was taken out by Mu of all people.
9. do you forgive/not forgive their crime on its own?
Mu's crime is forgivable on it's own. She recognizes it was a mistake even if she won't admit that to herself fully and seems to regret it deeply. On top of that regardless of the premeditation involved in the events that occurred it was still a very heat of the moment reaction. It was a stupid decision and she was fifteen or sixteen when she did it. All of those things need to be taken into account when objectively considering her crime on it's own.
Personally I wouldn't really forgive it without several things assuredly happening after that though. Because while her crime may be forgivable and the circumstances around it would give her a bit more leniency thant the others-
Her attitude and behavior towards those around her is not. If she doesn't take steps to get out of this pattern of behavior she'll just keep making the same mistakes over and over again. As we see playing out here in Milgram as well. This will continue until someone is forced to correct it for her. More than likely someone like Yuno who would rather not be bothered but if continually pushed the wrong way will do something.
So under the the pretense that she's removed from school for about maybe several months and sent to family therapy, individual therapy, and communications counseling. I could forgive it. Basically it's go to a correctional facility for you. Because at the end of the day her victim isn't going back to their family and getting the opportunity to learn and grew from this. Mu is the only one capable of doing that now and no one should ever have to die because someone else has poor communication skills.
11. what are your favorite points about their story and the narrative surrounding them?
I like how bullying is handled across both her and Futa's cases. It makes them both a very sympathetic pair in Milgram and one of the strongest narrative pairs in my opinion. I like how they both go from the bullies to the bullied. Futa going from harrassing people on the internet to being harrassed on the internet while Mu goes from being this leader of the bullies to the bullied.
I also like how Mu's characterization handles the concept of being mixed ethnicity with noticeably non-japanese features within Japan. Considering just like in any country the atmosphere towards people who look different from the majority group can be really bad if not suffocating. I really enjoy that despite stating Mu is french and japanese they don't put any french in her music videos visuals like they do with Kazui. Displaying how even though she is french and japanese she was mostly raised in Japan and only went to visit France. It's not a culture she's that drowned in but it's still important to her none the less.
It's incredibly poignant because a lot of children who don't have traditionally japanese features are subject to bullying within Japan from young ages. Like I was just watching this video of the Ainu that goes into a bit of the discrimination people can face for simply looking somewhat different. So for someone like Mu where those differences are more apparent I can imagine she probably had a great deal of issues with bullying in her younger years and consequently learned it's better to be the one doing the bullying then the one getting bullied before entering high school.
Which is something that many victims of bullying do in order to escappe being bullied across cultures. I think this aspect of bullying in general goes greatly overlooked when discussing it. So, I really enjoy how it's subtly highlighted and the implications of that possibly being the case here.
12. what do you wish would be discussed more often about them in the fandom?
A lot of people wound up getting upset with me for how I discussed Mu previously. Mostly because I brought up the negative aspects of her character that many people wish to look away from. This occurs with a lot of characters but it's incredibly sad to me that it's happening to Mu in particular. Because a lot of her character is within those flaws in my opinion. I think a lot of people did Mu's character a great disservice during her second trial but not interrogating those flaws and learning to empathize with them.
It makes sense to not want to a view a character that ones likes as bad. It doesn't feel good to have to interrogate the bad in the things we like and many people can instantly think if someone that I liked could do something that's bad what does that say about me. When the answer to that is it doesn't say anything about you. Because it's not about you it's about them and the choices they made. When people tie their egos to things like this and convince themselves that someone can't be wrong because that would mean they're wrong they create this very stilted atmosphere.
Where no one fictional or real has the space to make mistakes because then what do those mistakes say about me for believing in you. For seeing what you put out and trusting that you were telling the truth just to find out you weren't that you were a bully. Leading to knee-jerk reactions after kneejerk reactions that all just make things worse instead of better.
That cause things like this.
Because when people can't at least imagine the people that they care about an latch onto being in the wrong it hurts them even more when they are. I think it's important to focus on the lesson that Mu's character teaches.
That if one never interrogates the idea that they may be wrong they can never truly actually be right. Because they haven't formed an opinion on themselves they haven't looked at their morals or their own behavior objectively they're just going with how others tell them to feel about. Yet, the only person people are betraying by doing that are themselves. Because if you're right and truly know you're right you won't need anyone to tell you are.
That's what having a moral compass is all about. You pick your own direction other people shouldn't be able to choose it for you. I think if people realized that than they would have understood how immature and misguided Mu's behavior and beliefs actually were. Because it's apparent to me that she hasn't really formed any.
Sakurai, Haruka/ Haruka Sakurai
5. favorite voice drama line/moment?
I really like when he gets upset about Es saying they can change their mind about his verdict. Yet, after being concerned for himself and how that's unfair for him he immediately goes to being concerned about what that would mean for Mu.
It was really sweet.
9. do you forgive/not forgive their crime on its own?
Hm, I don't forgive Haruka's crime on it's own. I think his behavior was shortsighted, selfish, and he genuinely knew better. I understand his homelife was not the best and he was jealous of his sibling. However, that still appears to have been his younger sister and younger sisters tend to look up to their big brothers a good deal. So, I kind of feel bad for her as a younger sibling myself.
Yes, his parents sucked and they were mean to him but chances are if they were fine treating one child like that they were perfectly fine doing it to the other one. Regardless of if she was the daughter they always wanted or not. So, it's kind of like I forgive you Haruka because well no changing it now so why drag it out but taking a step back this was still a rather objectively shitty thing to do.
I'm forgiving you in Milgram because several adults fucked up here not just you but also sucks that girl is dead. Because she simply was not the source of the problem and probably didn't benefit much from these circumstances either considering your parents clearly left you alone to watch her. So, like what attention was she really getting that you weren't. It's not like he did this while they were there we see his mom walk in on the scene.
They were just straight up like watch your sister and out of the fucking blue what did he just go-
I hate you for taking all this very nonexistent attention because clearly neither of them are fucking there and present if he was able to do this. So this girl truly died for nothing when I really take a step back to look at it for what it is. Seems like she just died for being there which she didn't choose to be there.
Just like Haruka didn't choose to be born to the parents they had. Like the fuck was his mom even doing. She's shown to be absent quite frequently throughout All-knowing All-agony like Haruka is wrecking the house at points but she wouldn't fucking know it for all we know she's not even in the country right now. Biggest shock of All-knowing All-agony was seeing her show up finally.
10. is the answer to the previous question different from your vote(s) on the character themselves (do you vote them based on anything else aside from the crime)?
Yep, I voted Haruka Innovent simply because it's shitty to give someone affection and then take it away directly after they expressly specified that was their one fear in their first voice drama.
Yuzuriha, Kotoko/ Kotoko Yuzuriha
If it isn't my favorite menace. We meet again old friend I say as she sics the wolves on me-
8. what is your theory for their crime? if there is general consensus on it in the fandom, do you have any other, not-so-widely-accepted thoughts on it?
Oh pretty straight forward I speculate that she was actually involved in the abduction of those children and the man she killed was a deep cover agent who she framed for the incident. Because quite literally it doesn't make sense for her to be the deep cover agent. Given she was watching him go into the fucking warehouse with a kid the perfect time to get photo evidence of a crime and took zero pictures.
In fact we don't really see her collecting any evidence on him actually committing a crime. We see her pay what seems to be a reporter for information but like criminals do that too. So, that doesn't immediately means she's the good guy here. Also when the guy is framed by his shadow as attacking the kids his shadow
A. Has Kotoko's smile.
B. Is defying all known laws of lighting. Because he's not facing sideways at all and is intead swinging the hammer forward in front of him.
C. Might as well just start attacking him like Kotoko is if it's going to betray him like this.

I don't know why she was doing that Harrow is incredibly suspicious. Simply because we see glimpses of other child victims that we do not see the guy she attacks with at any point in the song. So, it's like girl how do you know this when did you see this? I guess I could assume it was when she broke into this warehouse and she went room by room but that begs another question,
Why didn't you help those kids get out first? Give them some sort of first aid? Anything but hold on I'll be right back- Hell why didn't you even just show us you going room by room. In fact why the fuck is it just clearly the same room just with a different victim in it.
These are not the same fucking child we see him with before. How would you know he did this to this many kids if you were not intimately involved with him doing this.
This is the girl in there when she attacks him. This is the girl she saw him take in there with her own eyes.
If Kotoko was really- just a concerned citizen, then she'd only know about this one kid. The kid we see her see get taken and, in the room, when she intervenes.
The song extraction machine wouldn't be able to pull out these images at all because she would not have fucking witnessed this. This also isn't her mind area. Because this is what that looks like for her-
Meaning this isn't imaginary-
So, why the fuck does she know this~ When the fuck did, she see these other kids~ How the fuck does she know this? If it isn't what she did- I'm genuinely asking because it ain't making much sense. How the fuck did she know this?
How fucking Deep Cover is about to be. Haruka is not the only one killing kids in here that's for damn sure. Because there is no logical explanation for why she would have seen these other fucking kids if she was not involved. And she already said she don't go easy on kids-
20/06/18 Amane: Thank you very much for teaching me. ……but, though I realise it’s strange me saying this after I asked you, I must admit it’s kind of unexpected. You give off the impression of someone who wouldn’t want to get involved in things like this. Kotoko: ……well, you’re not wrong. I’m surrounded by people who could all be murderers, so I don’t plan on going out of my way to talk and make friends. I can’t let my guard down. But I like ambitious people like you. If you want to study more, then I’m happy to teach. Amane: I see…… You look scary at first impression, but I quite like the way you treat everyone equally regardless of whether they’re older or younger than you. You don’t just treat me like a child or anything like that. Kotoko: Treat you like a child? Hah, you’ve got to be kidding. Back when I was your age, I was already the person I am today. I don’t have any plans to let you get away with something just “because you’re a child.” ……remember that. There, I’ve finished marking. 83%. How do I put it… Even though you act like this, it’s not like you’re super brilliant at studying or anything, huh.
I don't know what morals people are expecting from Kotoko but when someone comes out and says exactly how they are in private people should believe them. Kotoko admitted to being just like Futa if she's like him and his actions harmed children/people younger than him then hers probably harmed children as well.
Q.09 Which of the other prisoners do you think resembles you the most? Kotoko: That’s a hard one. I’m only able to answer based on my guess on what they did. But I think the one that probably resembles me the most is Futa? Though he’s also the person who resembles me the least.
And so far the only difference between Kotoko and Futa is- Futa is actually insecure and remorseful about what he did or what his actions caused. So, what's making Kotoko say he's the one who resembles her the least because the thing causing her to say he resembles her the most is her own assumptions about his crime. So, it's not his crime that's the problem.
Could it be his cowardice and inability to commit fully to his cause. Like she does-
Q.03 Do you think any other prisoners who committed the same sin as you deserve to be forgiven? Kotoko: Of course. Haven’t I already said that I believe my actions have been correct? Q.12 What is your motto? Kotoko: “There’s no other way that could let us live, so I walk this path.” [TN: Quote from Mushanokouji Saneatsu.]
The fact that he doesn't commit to completing the objective by any means-
Q.15 Which is more important, the objective or the means? Kotoko: Objective. Does that not go without saying?
I don't know because she doesn't fuccking say it could be as simple as Futa stopping when people apologize unlike her. I can't fucking say but I can say it's suspicious. Yet it is odd that she said the person resembles her the least outside of his crime is the guy worried about protecting those younger than him when he gets in here. Kind of really fucking suspicious. Especially taking into consideration all the injured kid literraed throughout her video.
So, I think she did that but a lot of people don't like to think about her doing that because that would make her the bad guy. She is in a mystical murder prison. If she did not commit murder she'd be at home but she's here with other murderers and recognizes this.
20/05/30 Mahiru: Hey, Kotoko-chan. There’s something that’s really been bugging me, so do you mind if I ask? ……how do you style yourself so well? Have you always dressed like that? But it also looks like something you’d wear for training. Do you play sport? Ah, or maybe some kind of martial arts? Kotoko: ……you really are carefree. Everyone in here is a “murderer” right? Is this really the time to be asking questions like that? Mahiru: Hmm, I guess so. That’s what they said. But nobody here seems particularly scary or anything, right? If I had to pick someone, then maybe you’re the scariest! Ah, wait, do you do like yoga or something? Kotoko: ……I can’t tell if you’re making fun of me or are just an airhead.
She is one of the first people to accept because she recognizes what she did was murder and through guilty by association concludes everyone else here is a killer too and thus worse than her if they've been judged as guilty by Es. Which is why she's so fucking gungho to jump them because she knows she's a bad person and we forgave her but not them so they must be worse.
She doesn't even have to fucking ask she's Innocent they're guilty that's enough. Because no one knows better what Kotoko did then Kotoko herself. SSo, if she's here like oh they know everything and found me innocent hm these other people must be the fucking scum of the earth. Of course there are some I'd have voted guilty myself that are innocent but the guard is young I guess.
TIME FOR THE JUMPING-
Momose, Amane/ Amane Momose
13. any ideas on what would they and their MV be like if they got a different verdict in T1?
I think her song would have been a lot more bubbly. Though we would see more of her sin. It would have more than likely shifted focus to the aspects about it she regrets more instead of highlighting her mother. Yet, it's hard to gage Amane's disposition. I think it would be something along those lines though. Since Kotoko would have still attacked people because she'd have still been Innocent as well. Amane would have probably still been a bit rattled by the situation but I don't think she'd be as hostile about Shidou helping.
Since she seems to only look for people to pjudge when she's being judged and keeps to herself outside of that. Though that may be wishful thinking. It really depends on how much she personally dislikes medicine at the end of the day. However she wasn't throwing any fits when Shidou wass tending to Haruka's injuries trial one. So, I dount she'd really care if she were innocent.
20/07/03 Shidou: Sakurai-kun……? Show me your hand. Haruka: Heh!? No, I…… There’s, n-n-nothing wrong. Shidou: Show me. ……the palm of your hand is bleeding. I’ll have to disinfect it. Does this always happen……? Haruka: A-ah…… It’s, j-just a habit…… I-if I’m nervous, I grip my hands, too hard, so my nails……
Like Shidou was actively giving medical treatment no problem or intervention from Amane before her guilty verdict. So things would probably be pretty different if she was Innocent trial one but too late now!

Favorite Games
I was talking with a friend of mine and this thought occurred. What are my top 10 favorite games? So these games are those I wouldn't mind introducing to others. Now, these are games, and not franchises. So multiple games of the same franchise can make it on here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10) Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
I absolutely love this game. But... it's from 2005, and the series has been dead for like 10 years. The last game was Blacklist that came out for the Xbox 360. Not even Xbox One. Such a shame. In order for me to play this game again, I have to run it on my old 360 that barely works, or buy it again on the Xbox marketplace. That's probably still worth it given how good this is and how cheap it is now. Super serious story of course, but there are still comic relief here and there, usually in interrogations.
Guard: "I knew it! I knew there were ninjas here!" Fisher: "What?" Guard: "You must be a ninja! How else could you sneak up and grab me like that?" Fisher: "Look, I don't know what you're-" Guard: "Wow! I can't believe it! A real, live ninja!" Fisher: "Listen, I'm going to kill you if you-" Guard: "Wow! Killed by a ninja! Cool!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9) <Redacted> 10
... At this point, it's going to be the Redacted series. ... Sure. The 10th entry of my second favorite franchise. This came out in... 2005 as well. Wow.
As much as I like the game, it's not easy for anyone new to pick up, because... story and the characters, I guess. Unless you already know the story, it's not going to be clear what's happening, why, and what comes next. And as a single player game, the AI is pretty important, and... it's very frustrating in a wide variety of ways. They spam an action that mildly annoys you, but they do it like 30 times a minute. And the AI doesn't do sh*t in combat, whether it's working for you or against you.
Unfortunately, this can no longer run on latest Windows. So I have my laptop permanently on "Test Mode" just so I can run the thing. Which means when I eventually get a desktop PC, this game will not be copied onto there.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8) Hitman: World of Assassination
This game provides a lot of entertainment in very... unique ways. Sometimes, pulling off the perfect assassination is very cool and sneaky. Sabotage a heart surgery (...), make two targets kill each other, sabotage an explosive device that the target is testing out so he blows himself up, etc. Sometimes, the assassination is rather... goofy. Swap a golf ball with an explosive golf ball and watch the target blow himself up in an accident (???). Put a car battery in the washroom and overflow the sink so the target gets electrocuted in an unfortunate accident that no one could've seen coming (????). Punch the target right in the face so they fall over while strolling on extremely shallow waters so they accidentally drown. And on and on.
And of course, the classic Hitman "disguises" that... just... heh. Nothing is quite as amusing as running around in a bank, dressed as Santa Claus, carrying a big ass magnum pistol and blasting people into oblivion. Santa wants his paycheque cashed in now, damn it. Hehehe.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7) Yakuza Kiwami
The first Yakuza game to make it in here, out of 13 that I've played since 2020. Damn.
The game's great. Combat is amazing, plot is great but not as great as in 0. And Majima Everywhere does get annoying in NG+. But the start of Yakuza Kiwami is like the only time Kiryu is perfectly happy, so... ohhh... And... Haruka...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6) <Redacted> 11
Much of the same for 10. AI is very annoying, spams same dumb moves over and over because if it did literally nothing the first 15 times, surely the 16th time would...
But 11, which is from... 2006, is the game I've played the most out of every other game, including Starcraft II and Yakuza 0, and even Pokemon Gold version, whose game time maxed out.
I would very much love to start modding this, except I don't know how. Hehe... This game also only runs on my laptop thanks to the Test Mode, so... that sucks.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) Lost Judgment: Unjudged Memories
This game's so good. Judgment too. The only downside is how long the games are. And since Judgment series only mention the mainline Yakuza games stuff in passing reference, the mainline Yakuza games are not required!
These are like the first notable cases for me where the bad guys are definitely in the bad but I understand why they're doing it. Like... in Judgment, the bad guys are covering up and continuing with lethal human experimentations to get the cure for dementia to work on humans. The serial killer himself says that at this point, they need to get this drug to work, else nothing could possibly save them. And in Lost Judgment, your ally says that there is no clear right answer here. Though that's because they don't have a correct starting point of morality, but hey. It's a crappy situation where no outcome can be a happy one.
... Though Lost Judgment does have a DLC story, and for the first time ever, that has a happy ending.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) Starcraft: Brood War
Ah... the game that I would love to play a lot of... if I wasn't so scared. Hehehe. Not only do you have to fight the game, you also have to fight the other guy who's in the game playing against you. And anyone who's still playing on the ladder probably has been playing the game for like 15 years at this point. If I play on the ladder, I'll just end up getting annihilated nonstop. Someone much better than I am at RTS described it as "getting cyber bullied by Koreans on the ladder".
You need like 300 APM just to manage your economy and macro properly. And with the other guy who's in the game, you now have to scout and see what they're up to and actually know what to do next. So for now, I'll just be satisfied with watching ASL, Ultimate Battles, and Major Pro Team Leagues.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) Yakuza 8
... Ow, my heart. The game is so fun. And long. Very long. And unlike 7 where the past games were not strictly required, in 8, all the past games are required for full comprehension. Since half of the main cast is from Yakuza 7, 7 is absolutely required. And since the other half of the game focuses on Kiryu, 0 ~ 7G are all required. So I guess this game can't really be recommended to anyone. It's a super long game that requires the player to have played all the other games in the series so far.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) Yakuza 0: Place of Oath
This game was so fun. I kind of wish I could go back to before I played this for the first time, just so I can enjoy it all over again. And since this game is (chronologically) the start of the series, I can actually recommend it to others and drag them into this rabbit hole too.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Starcraft II
... I guess this isn't surprising at all.
The campaigns are fun to play (the story might suck but the gameplay is awesome), and with a huge influx of mods nowadays, it gets even better. Real Scale, where you either get smashed by the Protoss fleet or use the Protoss fleet to smash the enemies, Mass Recall, where you play Starcraft I campaign on the SCII engine, Randomizer, which can comically screw you over at times, Reversed Campaigns where you play the campaign missions but from the enemy's side, etc. The SCII editor is so big that you can do almost anything in it, including making a whole new game using the engine, like Heroes of the Storm.
There's also co-op, which is just a ton of fun. I don't know why people get salty on co-op missions, but some do. And of course, the multiplayer. Ladder is actually very fun. Of course there are the standard multiplayer issues, such as salty players whining about balance and spamming insults, but that doesn't say anything about the game itself, and only how sh*tty people are.
That said, I don't think I can easily recommend this game. SCII may be a lot more beginner friendly, but it's too fast for beginners.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whew. So, there were 2 Starcraft games, 4 Yakuza games, 2 games from my second favorite franchise, and 2 miscellaneous.
Why didn't any Pokemon games make it in? Because of course they didn't. I don't like any aspect of those games. Look at what I've been doing lately in Generation I and II. Either glitch heavy runs or challenge runs only. And I highly doubt that Yellow version was made intentionally to allow players to create various Pikachu-shaped abominations before settling them loose in the wild. The only fun I had in playing Pokemon games were when I broke the game with glitches, and RNG manipulations, neither of which are intended.
Why didn't any Halo games make it in? Because I'm not that much of a fan of FPS multiplayer games. And Halo Wars are console RTS, so they suck horribly in comparison with either Starcraft games. Which is sad, since Starcraft 1 was from 1998, and its crappy ass N64 version had more available commands for units than Halo Wars 2.
Why didn't the other Yakuza games make it in? For 2, I didn't feel anything for the personal story and the yakuza story was only decent. For 3, the combat kind of sucks, and it's now the oldest game with 1 and 2 being remade as Kiwami and Kiwami 2. Though after 7 Gaiden and 8, there's a lot of desire to go back to 3 and hang out with the kids in Morning Glory. ... Kiwami 3 when? For 4, the plot kind of... meh. 5 was far too long and the yakuza story did not make a lick of sense, seeing as how the final boss doesn't even know why he's the final boss. 6 has gameplay issues and the yakuza story kind of sucks. 7 is fine and just narrowly didn't make it in. 7 Gaiden is way too short and doesn't have NG+. Ishin is a rather strange spinoff. And Judgment can get a bit frustrating with the combat and the Keihin Gang.
And my second favorite franchise... heh. I'll keep it redacted for as long as no one recognizes it. "Heh. It's all right. Everyone has secrets." ... Even though I don't particularly have a reason to keep it secret.

MIX EP 9–thoughts about jokes
the beginning of the most recent episode of MIX finds Ooyama-kantoku instructing a first-year player not to erase the scoreboard of their just-finished practice game. Ooyama tells him that when he looks at the scoreboard, he sees a full stadium in the background, insinuating Meisei’s eventual appearance at Koshien.
And then, the first year hits him with this:

This joke makes no sense on the surface, as Mazda Zoom-Zoom Stadium, home of the Hiroshima Carp, is nowhere near the Kanto region in which this story is set, nor does it hold very much cultural significance in Japanese baseball. There’s no reason for this first year to think this is what his coach meant, and even less of a reason to think this would make a good joke other than the stadium having somewhat of a silly name. Adachi would never write a joke as lazy as this. Surely this was an audible called by the showrunners, right?
Well, uh, no.

Same joke, chapter 79 of the manga, only it kind of works here because of the speed at which the joke comes. This is a recurring problem with the television show, as the jokes often sit for too long, presumably to fill air time (more on that, later). But maybe they would have been better off leaving out this joke entirely, because it doesn’t really work. Or maybe there’s something lost in translation, but I’m not ruling out the likelihood that it’s just bad.
There is a joke here that does work, whereby Touma’s teacher catches him practicing his autograph during a lecture and Touma wonders how he could’ve known he was doing that.

The joke isn’t that funny, but it’s presented so abruptly that I can’t help but chuckle, which happens so seldomly with MIX that even jokes that barely pass as acceptable feel like gut-busters in comparison. Good job, MIX. More of this.

There are a few instances in this episode that spend way too much time on time fillers, notably on Ooyama and daddy Tachibana drunkenly singing the alma mater and our narrator slowly announcing the entirety of each team’s starting lineups (for a scrimmage! a scrimmage!!!). But there’s no worse offender than Ooyama calling for consecutive intentional walks, and for our narrator to explain the recent history of MLB rule changes adopted into NPB, all while kinetic graphics rotate around a slack-jawed Haruka. It takes like a full minute of buildup to explain a thoroughly mid joke, though I admittedly chuckled seeing Ooyama and his “WALK HIM” sign.
Overall, the jokes were a little better? But still bad? Progress is progress, I guess. See you next week.

updates:
MMJ!Len got 2 more cards! he's still the only MMJ vsinger without a 2* card though
KAITO still hasn't gotten a cover with WxS but he did get a cover with MMJ (which was also his first song with them in almost 2 years)
WxS!Miku finally got another 4* after 984 days
WxS finally caught up on reward cards!!
except Rui it's been about a year and a half since his last 2* and he currently has least in the game (dw though he's had so many 4*s this year so he's basically only gonna get reward cards next year)
As of the last WxS event, Emu now has a 3* of every attribute! Nene and Rui don't still...
shiho 3 lims in 4 months was bad but is emu sanrio collab lim and (likely) fes lim being less than two weeks apart worse? and if the fes isn't emu then it's probably gonna be b2b cards whoever else it is...
VBS Len still doesn't have a new card. It's been almost 1.75 years (unless you count his 3rd anni 2* but that wasn't an event card). Leoni Luka in the same boat. And momojan Rin. And VBS MEIKO.
Niigo Miku got a new card though! (another 2*...)
Len finally got a lim card outside a vsinger lim event good for him
also N25 MEIKO and Rin finally got new cards in the vsinger lim event back in august
Emu and Rui got a duet cover! And a 3DMV! Nene/Rui is the only pairing left to get a cover now
N25 has gone onto receive a few more full unit covers! They now have 8 total
They also have 6 covers with a vsinger other than Miku now
MMJ Luka got a new card, and VBS Miku got her first event 2*
Nene has been on 9 events this year now (10 if you count last years NY event).
Ena has joined the one year no event club. Her last event just ran on EN.
WxS still has way too many full unit covers
In fact this whole year has been very dry for duet covers. We've only had 12 compared to last year's 24
VBS FINALLY GOT TO GO FIRST ON AN EVENT CYCLE HOLY SHIT (they still haven't gone second)
other stuff that wasn't in the original post:
Emu and Tsukasa still hold the record for longest time since last cover (almost 3 years and 3 months). Tsukasa's voice direction has changed like twice in that time.
Niigo still doesn't have any duet alt vocals. WxS still doesn't have any duet alt vocals that aren't m/f duets
It's been over a year since the last cover song to not feature a vsinger (Amanojaku)
Emu's last mixed event was over 3 years ago. Mizuki hits 3 years on December 10th
VBS Rin and KAITO don't have 3*s. L/n MEIKO also lacks a 3*
There are several vsingers left to get a 2*, including L/n Rin, MMJ Len, WxS Luka, and N25 Rin, MEIKO and KAITO.
WxS Rin and MMJ KAITO have never had 4*s on a unit event
Kanade's last 3* was in the Intersecting Melodies, Glowing Warmth event. 2 years ago. She beat Rui's 670 day record and as of today (december 6th) is at 737 days
Airi still holds the record for longest time between 4*s (191 days) and Tsukasa still holds the record for longest time between 2*s (811 days)
Kanade also holds the record for longest time between lims (455 days). Len went exactly 1 year to the day and everyone else has gone 11 months at most
also due to 4* spam, Mizuki, Kanade and Rui all managed to catch up to Miku's 4* count for the first time I think since launch
Outside of the starter vsingers who have been MIA for over a year and a half (except KAITO), WxS Luka has gone longest without a card (her last card was cheer squad back last may)
This year introduced the concept of Len and KAITO singing solo with all-girl units on covers. The first to do it was N25 Len with Irony, followed by L/n Len on Attract Light, N25 Len again in Kokoronashi, and MMJ KAITO in Akuyaku ni Kiss Scene wo.
It has been 442 days since Toya's last unit event as of posting. He holds the record for longest time between unit events right now. Rui, Ena or Haruka might beat this though.
unsure if this has been mentioned on this blog already, but this was the time between wonderland kaito's original most recent card (cherry blossom fes) to his current most recent card (canary in a quagmire)
wonderland kaito gets done so dirty all the time 😭 it's kind of sad
considering he's the main vocaloid for that sekai that is actually so sad. he had quite a big gap before then as well (Mermaids -> Sakura Across SEKAI was ~7 months). I think they're trying to catch up the other KAITOs because they all have less cards but goddamn colopale you don't have to make wxs!kaito go MIA.
vocaloid card distribution in general is so shit. For example, L/n Miku's first unit event card was on the Echo My Melody event gacha. In November. 2 years after launch. I think the last VBS Len card was his 1.5 anniversary lim as well.
iirc there are two vocaloid characters with only one card right now. One is N25!KAITO (obviously because he only just got added), and the other is MMJ!Len. Yeah his 4* from the Happy Lovely Everyday! event gacha is his only card.
This game has no balance at all

ok now that the dust has settled a bit im actually gonna talk about my thoughts on the rgg summit y8 cutscene. you know the one
ok im talking about the proposals because although i didn't make it clear at the time i uh. i don't like it lmao (<- oversimplifying). let me explain (in 9 points + a tl;dr)
ichiban does strike me as the type to jump the gun and propose early, especially after like 18 years in prison. granted, i never did the dating stuff in y7, but i think it's in line with his character (i like it, makes sense)
him asking kiryu for advice is also fine, seeing as he's So Fucking Frazzled By Getting Turned Down im convinced he would ask anyone (i like it, makes sense)
regardless of my own views on ichiban's love life i. i guess i see that they could've been setting him and saeko up? like saeko's cattiness with seong-hui (who, if you forgot, flirted pretty hard with ichi when they first met) could be viewed as jealousy over ichiban...? i guess? and maybe that time she compliments his hair and he's like "well maybe I'll keep it :)"...? (i don't like it, but makes sense in hindsight as something they may have been trying to establish)
in regards to my thoughts on ichiban's love life: girl they have so little romantic chemistry im not even joking. not more so than like, him and any given member of the ichigang (which isn't nothing (<- ichigang polycule enjoyer) but you really just picked Nearest Girl huh), and arguably less imo. i like them!! i don't even hate them dating per se, but i don't love it being canon. like exploring it conceptually and making fan content etc is cool (go crazy!!), but i don't think they have enough standing in canon as-is to be satisfying as a couple, yeah? it doesn't feel like they were going for that in their y7 dynamic, and i actually found the platonic vibes of their bond kinda refreshing and im sad to see that replaced with a simple (probably offscreen) "okay they're together now" like it was inevitable, or the implication that the only reason their friendship was there was to set up a romance later, and they were just saving it for the next game. (i don't really like it, doesn't make sense)
it feels like they were anxious about where saeko falls in the "romance or relative" dichotomy of the series' female characters (see yumi, yuko, yasuko, hana, mirei (<- less direct, but majima's ex/pretty explicit mother figure to haruka), sayama, makoto, eri (y7, not the morning glory kid), seong-hui, that woman from y5, haruka, most of the cabaret girls as manager and customer, maaaany substory women, that patriarch's daughter in y3, reina, yayoi, the morning glory girls, etc etc). like she HAD to end up with someone in the cast because what else would she do, right? in isolation it's not an awful choice, but within the context of the rest of the series, it's frustrating because she was one of the only exceptions besides like. miss tatsu probably. (i don't like it, makes sense that it would happen in this series)
even if you want/are open to saeko and ichiban being together, shouldn't that be given more time and development? it feels rushed to me to go from hinting at romance (assuming that's what it was in y7) to proposing is like. kind of a disservice to those characters and that dynamic imo (i don't like it, doesn't make sense)
NOT TO MENTION KIRYU'S PROPOSALS?? like. to yumi? to sayama? it feels like that'd be weird to retcon in since we saw their relationships on screen. and if kiryu had an (or multiple?? as arguably implied in the scene???) offscreen relationship so serious he PROPOSED i think that'd also be weird and annoying to not see if you were a fan of that idea. shit man, if kiryu's proposing to someone i wanna meet her!! (because it's going to be straight. i know you know we know. pain) and maybe she'll even get like. depth and agency outside of being a love interest. if we're very lucky. (i don't really like it, doesn't make sense)
kiryu suddenly having ~plenty of experience~ with women isn't homophobic (or aphobic) per se, but. i mean. look there's a lot of good ways to read the way kiryu engages with sex and romance (including ones where he likes women and/or doesn't like men, in case you want to argue with me about that) but what we know for sure is that this series seems to a) be unable to let him hold on to a definite love interest between games b) want him to be a forever-bachelor, either because "i think he would be" or "he's mourning yumi sayama doesn't count" or "he's waiting for the right person" or "he can't endanger someone like that" etc, and/or c) does not want to/cannot validate queer interpretations of him (which the two previous points as well as other context may imply). y'know how around y4 they stopped letting majima and kiryu interact but still hinged big shit on their fated bond or whatever? it's like that to me. sometimes they feel the need to remind us all that they're actually super heterosexual guys. this could be that. if it walks like damage control and quacks like damage control it might very well be damage control. even in straight readings of him it's jarring and out of nowhere and lacks real time, development, and so on in ways that are both unsatisfying and contributing to the problems with women in the series, even more so than an ichi/saeko relationship (i don't like it, doesn't make sense)
during the summit they were careful to be like "well, we don't know what kind of proposal it is exactly ;)" so lemme say this: if it's not actually marriage proposals they're talking about, im not gonna be happy either. clickbait ass. (actually it would be a little funny if they were straightbaiting but im still gonna work under the assumption that it's not because like. did they word the cutscene like that just to show it at the summit like this? freak behavior) (idk how i feel about it, idk if it makes sense, someone should get smacked for this choice but there's a 50/50 chance i would do this in their shoes)
tl;dr i don't hate these ideas in isolation and if you're excited for them then i wish you the best. i hope for all of us that it's actually handled well. to be completely honest, im still interested in what leads them both to this point, and the relationships they may reveal, what they'll try to say with them, what they say about ichi and kiryu, etc. i will play along with ichi and saeko if they can do something cool with it, because i tend to be very flexible about that kinda thing. im not mad about it and i don't hate it exactly, but my impressions of it for the most part are "this seems sudden and out of character for everyone involved in troubling ways that are part of larger annoying/problematic patterns in the series".

Master post
What if they met before Yuuichiro gave Rockman to Netto?
I mean, I can’t exactly picture both Haruka and Yuuichiro being fine with their children not even seeing each other (especially since, game-verse, they kind of reunited them as soon as they could since Netto was about five when he “got” Rockman if I remember well). So maybe, just maybe, before Rockman was fully completed...
So this is my headcannon, anime-verse. It took Yuuichiro some time to code Rockman’s frame (especially his ultimate program which, I would most definitely say, is his ability to just adapt to absolutely anything), so in the meantime, Saito was mostly hanging around Scilab using a prototype frame that was slowly updated as Yuuichiro was figuring out how to implement each and every single feature a navi should have in a way for Saito to be able to use them (I mean, according to what can be found in the game, I think he may have died between 1 and 4 years old, but I would need to read Japanese to be sure and I can’t, so he would already be “human wired” and would not think as an AI). Here, he dies at about 4 yo, and when the comic is taking place (before the time skip), they are about 9 yo, right before Saito has his memory locked so it looks like Rockman is a new navi (and that would explain why he never says anything in the anime, plus why Rockman feels so... robotic, in the first episodes).
(And why no helmet? Have you ever tried to put a hat on a child? A hat they can’t remove as they please? Because I have. They would usually throw it in the pool. Or throw themselves in the pool with the hat on... Or throw someone else in the pool with their hat on. Moral of the story : attaching a hat to a child’s head usually ends up with a wet hat :/ )
(Also, I may have started this thing back in 2019... And I forgot about it :/ So some drafts were from back then, and I corrected the lineart as I could because I am lazy, and the last panels were completely redone. And I tried to put that into a logical order. It was a pain. Past!me didn’t apparently think this through...)

(AND, just so i'm not copying every question u send to me each time,) do u have any unpopular opinions about a video game (or video games in general) u've wanted to talk about but haven't had the opportunity to yet? i really enjoyed ur explanation of why u dislike yakuza 5 (since it's an argument i personally agree with) so i'm curious to hear more. totally ok if nothing comes to mind tho hghhghg
well lets see the first two that come to mind are why haruka's writing in y6 was not bad and then this one is less unpopular but about how sera in dai is an amazing character that was handled horribly in terms of interacting with her
I'm assuming you wanted me to elaborate so i will briefly touch on Haruka in y6:
The biggest issue that I've seen people having with her in that game is that she is reduced to a teen mom whose character focuses entirely on a baby, which is a valid concern. There are a lot of ways they could have gone with her character and what they did wouldnt necessarily be my first choice, but you gotta consider a lot of other factors (obviously yakuza 5 and 6 spoilers below the cut):
Going into my dislike of yakuza 5, the writers were tasked with having to continue off of the absolute train wreck that was haruka's writing in y5. (this is my post on park and if i did another one i can't find it) Haruka was already traumatized from a very young age and then they were like. Let's make her an idol that will surely aid her mental well being... And now in y6, she has been in the spotlight of the media and she is terrified of it having a negative effect on her family. (which, in my opinion, was why she never should have gone for the idol thing at all since she was hurting kiryu and the orphans, but this is about cleaning up y5's mess)
This poor girl is completely lost and has no idea what to do with her life. The only person she feels she could really talk to is in jail. She thinks it is best to reinvent herself in a new town. Whether this is the right decision or not doesn't matter this girl needs a therapist
She finally finds someone she connects with in Yuta. Yuta doesn't care about her past which is something she needs. She makes a mistake getting pregnant, very likely an accident. This is where people start getting angry.
She doesn't get an abortion like people are telling her to. She's very young to have a child but she still does have a right to the choice. I am unsure whether the anger comes from this, or her getting pregnant in the first place. Either way, it's kind of misogynistic. Accidentally getting pregnant and keeping Haruto does not make her any less tough or brave. I think a lot of people see her character here as being reduced to "women make babies and that's where her worth is," which is a very real problem in media, but i don't think it applies to Haruka.
If you think about it, Haruka had to be tough as hell to carry a baby for 9 months with no support from her family and friends, save her new boss. It's so sad to think about no one going through her pregnancy with her, not even Yuta.
Haruka finds purpose again in being Haruto's mother. She is not dismissed after his birth. I'm not even counting the whole coma deal because it was tragic but it was never a case of "welp, Haruto is more important anyway" when it very well could have been. Kiryu was constantly worried about her even if he did wear a brave face the whole time. The Hirose family cared about her and wanted to help. Akiyama had good intentions and wanted to look out for Haruka. When she woke up, it was a big deal.
The girl literally got hit by a car and went into a coma to protect her son. If you don't think Kiryu wouldn't have done the same thing, I don't know if we played the same game. Then after getting kidnapped, her main priority was still protect her family. She was able to remain calm legit until her father was shot and bleeding out. After that father was proclaimed dead, she still found the strength to go on for the orphanage and for Haruto.
Haruka is an amazing mother and that does not make her any less of an empowered woman!! God dammit!! Would I have liked to see her learn to fight and beat the shit out of people? Yes, but y5 could have done that too when they made her playable. Yakuza needs to include women in the combat, which they made a big step with Yakuza 7 though far from perfect. But that doesn't mean all the women are badly written, necessarily. For example, Makoto is a very deep character that is waved off as weak and fragile when in reality she's extremely strong based on the absolute hell shes been through. (this post goes a little bit into it but it is her and majima focused)
Also Haruto is a blessing have you looked at him? he's so damn cute and we get to see Grandpa Kiryu. why are you complaining
I don't know if any of that made sense but the main take away is Haruka's writing in y6 could have been a lot better but she should not be scrutinized for getting pregnant and keeping the child because it does not make her weak.
thank you for coming to my ted talk.
#i dont feel as strongly about this one as i do my hatred for y5 but ya know.#ask#miss-shydeer#someone take away my internet privileges

Okay @mrsluthordanvers I’ll play 1. Why did you choose your url? My original URL was Early Afternoon Ambitions and when I came back to Tumblr after a hiatus I realized I hated it. Chose Oreo bc it was my nickname on World of Warcraft.
2. Any side blogs? Nah. Everyone who follows this blog is subject to my extremely fickle interests. Sorry!
3. How long have you been on Tumblr? Let’s put it this way: this was originally a Faberry blog.
4. Do you have a queue tag? Is that a thing I’m supposed to be doing
5. Why did you start your blog in the first place? See question #3
6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp? I had a Haruka Tenou icon until I got a bunch of hate asks about having an anime icon so I swapped to something still blond and boyish but less likely to attract rude commentary.
7. Why did you choose your header? I’m pretty sure I don’t have a header? Listen, I’m not very good at Tumblr.
8. What’s your post with the most notes? The one about the firefighter I went on a date and a half with. That whole saga is the mostly weirdly popular thing I’ve ever done on the internet. IRL friends still occasionally send it to me and tell me that it sounds like smth I would do.
9. How many mutuals do you have? Uhhhhhhh several. If you left a funny comment or sent a nice ask I probably followed you back. I may have later unfollowed you because I unfollow pretty indiscriminately when sleep deprived. Sorry about that. I still love you.
10. How many followers do you have? Round about 2,500. Still a smol blog.
11. How many people do you follow? 567
12. Have you ever made a shitpost? I’m not 100% sure I know what a shitpost is, but probably.
13. How often do you use Tumblr each day? I go through phases. I try to hop on for half an hour to answer asks and set up a queue, but I’m really bad at routines in general. Sometimes I’m here for hours. Sometimes I forget about Tumblr for weeks bc I am easily distracted and I have basically zero object permanence.
14. Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? Nah. I blocked that one terf in the Supercorp fandom. Once someone came at me for a post about a Supercorp/Motherland Fort Salem crossover and blocked me right after commenting. So I guess two very one-sided fights.
15. How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts? They’re annoying. If you want engagement, ask an engaging question or post better content. Don’t guilt or pressure people into engaging with you.
16. Do you like tag games? I get tagged in them all the time but almost never do them. Generally my original intention was to keep this blog about content and keep my personal life out of it. Y’all are here for the stories and (usually) not for me! But once in a while they’re fun.
17. Do you like ask games? See the above except I’m even LESS likely to do this than a tag game because I’m always afraid I won’t get any asks!
18. Which of your mutuals do you think is Tumblr famous? I have a couple of mutuals who are definitely too famous to be friends with me but let’s not tag them here bc I don’t want them to realize and un-mutual ;)
19. Do you have a crush on a mutual? I super doooo but there are a lot of reasons it wouldn’t work out and I don’t think she’s interested. Not gonna tag anyone in this. If you wanna do it, consider yourself tagged!

When One Wants Ice Cream
Title: When One Wants Ice Cream
Genre: maybe a little bit fluffy, but primarily comedic (hopefully - i make no promises)
Pairing: Rin Matsuoka/Haruka Nanase/Nagisa Hazuki/Makoto Tachibana x Reader (all separate)
Notes: Okay, so this was a random idea that popped into my head while going to get ice cream about a week ago. What happened before going was what inspired this was, when my mom asked me to take our dog outside, I randomly had a craving for ice cream. Instead of answering her question about taking the dog out, I just randomly said, “I want ice cream.”
The rest of the night we couldn’t stop laughing about it, and I still can’t get over it. (Seriously, typing this up was hard enough as I couldn’t type anything correctly while laughing).
So, I hope you guys enjoy a rendition of my random sense of language combined with swimmer boys!
Below the cut!
Rin Matsuoka
we are all aware that this boy would die for you
seriously, certified best boyfriend #1
but that also means that he isn’t afraid to make fun of you when you do or say something weird
which made this moment leagues funnier than it initially seemed
earlier, he had come into the living area of the apartment you two shared with a question
he seemed upbeat, but you were severely drained due to schoolwork aftermath and work stress
unlike him, you worked in a clothing store as a manager
it was v e r y stressful
and sometimes, you just need some comfort food
“hey, babe, what should we do on your day off?”
he was excited, that’s for sure - it’s the first night you’ve had a day off in a while, and he wanted to go out on a date with you.
but he wasn’t expecting your answer to be so...random.
“i want ice cream.”
he paused, smiled, and bust out laughing.
“w-what did you just say?”
you weren’t 100% aware of what you said, but that made it all the more funny
“i want ice cream, rin.”
he continued laughing while you continued to fully realize what you said.
“like right- right now?”
“yes, i have a craving for ice cream right now.”
he eventually calmed down enough to get out more than giggles.
“well, you wanna go? we can walk up there, but you gotta hurry, babe.”
you were up off the couch in less than a second.
“already on it!’
you both walked up there with your hands connected, smiling and laughing at the most recent occurrence.
and for the trouble, you paid for the ice cream under the circumstance that rin pays it next them.
in general, though, the statement became a small inside joke between the two of you
(seriously. kou, haru, sasuke, you name it - when you pulled this out in front of them and busted out laughing right after, they were so confused.)
(contrary to rin, though, you had to take a photo of every time their reactions came - you have an album dedicated to it and you post the images to tease them)
Haruka Nanase
haru is soft despite what he comes off as
but he still has his moments of randomness.
and this was one of them.
you two were walking next to each other, side-by-side on your way to the park.
you were hungry, he was hungry, and you didn’t want fish for the umpteenth time in a row.
and he knew this, as he really does love you and wants to expand his tastes for the future you two have planned.
so when you decided to ask a question in regards to what to eat, his answer shocked you just the slightest.
“hey, haru, what do you want to eat?”
“i want ice cream.”
you giggled the second you heard his response to your inquiry, watching as he turned to you
though he kept a straight face, you could see the confusion in your eyes
which just made you laugh harder
you two had to stop and he had to hold you up as you nearly collapsed from laughing too hard
“what’s so funny?”
you were still laughing.
“you- you- ohmygod- you’ve never said anything like that before!”
poor boy was still confused
seriously confused
it kind of hurt, if he were to be honest
but he couldn’t help but smile at your expression
or your laugh
or just you in general
and you saw it as you were calming down from your laughing high
“we can get some ice cream, haru. that was just odd coming from you.”
he was confused again.
“i like it, though. it’s sweet.”
he returned to his mellow expression, still stoic and his eyes soft
his hand was held out as you stood up, and you both continued your walk to the ice cream shop from there
now, from time after time, you tease him about his smile
(and you may have asked his friends how to get him to smile and/or laugh)
(to which they told you to tickle him when you could)
(and now he’s on guard constantly)
(look what you’ve become)
Nagisa Hazuki
boi is upbeat
like-
very upbeat
and this translates to college life as well.
so he makes the boring days so much better when they hit a terribly low point.
and while you didn’t deal with these types of days very much, the heat was starting to get to you.
nagisa was still bouncing around and trying to find something to do
even suggesting some crappy board games
you didn’t even bring anything up until you felt your stomach grumble.
“hey, nagisa, are you hungry?”
he jumped up from his cross-legged seat on the floor and yelled his response
“i want ice cream!”
you couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle at the reaction, as you were in the mood for something cold to counteract the scorching heat
he had to pull you up from your position on the couch, but you were down for ice cream
which was also reflected in the way you two walked to your favorite ice cream shop.
he had you by the hand, you were dragging your feet behind you, and he had decided to mess with you from time to time
of course, those moments were out-of-the-blue in your zombie like state, but they were fun
people had even watched as you squealed when he’d tickle you or hug your torso like his life depended on it.
still adorable to the bystanders.
either way, the fun was continued from that point on.
you both got your ice cream, he got his, and you both sat on a nearby bench beside each other
you were happy it was under the shade, he was happy that you both got ice cream
you both enjoyed the fact that this was practically an impromptu date, as well.
at one point, some of his ice cream melted off onto the grass beneath your feet
he pouted, you laughed
and patted his head.
he blushed, and you got your revenge :)
he still enjoyed it, though :)
(he got you back when you both got home by sending you into a tickle frenzy)
(pillows were involved and he still won)
(he’s vicious when he wants to be)
due to the both of you enjoying the experience so much, you’d both be 100% down to do something like this again
which translates to ‘who’s gonna say it first?’
and those impulse dates usually end in one of you getting tickled when you get home.
so yeah, fun times
(if you wanna include the time that you managed to knock your head in against the wall from one of his pillow hits)
(you hit him back hard enough to make him tumble off the couch arm and onto the floor, though)
(but, you know, just couple things i guess-)
Makoto Tachibana
yet another swimmer boi that would 100% die for you
certified best boyfriend #2, everybody!
no seriously
this is the type of guy you want to take home to meet your parents/parental figures
and he will then manage to inadvertently make them fall in love with him within five minutes
but one of the reasons he is so loved by them is his care and patience.
which is why he was worried for you at the moment
you were staring blankly at a wall in your house, despite the sound of the tv playing a screaming match in a show
he noticed, of course, and he was lost
“are you doing okay, s/o?”
you rarely did this, and it usually meant that something weird would be coming out of your mouth within the next-
“i want ice cream.”
there it is.
he laughed a little at the statement, and when you were able to fully process it, you did the same thing.
his lasted for about 5 seconds while yours lasted around 10
good times, as he got to see your smile for another time tonight.
(you’re adorable. he is soft for you. like, more so than usual)
so he was worried for nothing, thank god.
but he still didn’t know what to do about it as the shops were all closing down soon.
so he decided to check the convenience stores
a few were open!
so, at around 9:30 at night, you two were walking out to get one
it wasn’t very long, but as you two were holding hands tightly
(and swinging them. again, the sight was adorable)
(god, that was so cheesy, holy shit-)
it went by faster.
upon entering your choice of store, the cashier just peeked up from their trashy magazine
makoto was driven to find the ice cream for you as he was getting a little scared,
but you were driven to annoy the cashier upon the nonchalant interaction that just occurred.
yes, you definitely did want ice cream, but you also wanted this.
you were reaching for a two liter of soda near the machine, and luckily for makoto, he stopped you
he could see the gears turning in your head.
don’t tell me he can not and would not stop you.
(it was dark, he was scared - leave him be)
he had stopped you from causing trouble multiple times in your endeavor to get late night ice cream
thank god, cause you both knew that you’d most likely get kicked out if that were to happen.
either way, you both had your cheap ice cream after a few minutes
and the rest of the night was spent peacefully at your place, watching cheesy movies
and of course, scaring the crap out of makoto with a horror movie to provide an excuse to cuddle him when you both went to sleep
(your tsundere jumped out)

I did it :)
So, I cried. That's a given.
Also this might be the most overwhelmingly happy ending in the series so far, you know, if you're used to every entry ending with "KIRYU DIE?????"
Bonus points because this ending DID NOT immediately reveal that he lives! I know my intro here is all unserious and the like but genuinely, that does a lot for making the scene so much more impactful and it worked here even though I know he returns for Y6.
So, I'm gonna do this post like the last big post because there's too many thoughts to expel.
Timestamps as I rewatch so I can share my thoughts. Then a short conclusion because honestly? This game has taken all my words multiple times.
I just want to calmly and happily say my final piece at the end :)
0:39 - Spoiler, this ending SUCKS because it doesn't include a final rhythm battle for Haruka! Now I think I read somewhere that there's a member of that assassin clan she can dance battle as a final challenge but I clearly didn't do that right and missed out and that's beside the point- THERE'S NO RHYTHM GAMEPLAY IN THIS FINALE >:(
9:00 - I EARNED IT, I'M USING IT!
13:00 - Spoiler for later, Shinada doesn't get to say this from what I recall. Instead Baba gets a different wake up call, but that works out :)
17:00 - Not now, but this will come up, I offer to you my johns for what happens in the first boss fight. My eyes were dry as hell so I missed some QTEs which means I didn't get the flashiest stuff to happen. This actually happened at the end of Y4 also but I restarted just to capture good footage- not this time.
17:30 - MOUSE. MOUSE MOUSE, A LITTLE RAT, MOUSE. Love to see it.
19:00 - The audible sigh I let out when they played the same song I've heard like 40 times in my playthrough was palpable. I do dig the song! But there are what? 4 Idol songs? They really needed more or to not saturate their use so much :(
19:40 - I legitimately gasped and went "Oh no... of course it's you!" at Baba's role in this. It added a lot of weight to the way he practically begged Haruka not to show up.
20:50 - So here's the gist. Majima's plan didn't work out, we know that. Majima has a REALLY good line and motivator moment where he says he's following orders now to protect Haruka because she means more to Kiryu than anything (and that's how Majima rolls), Majima then reveals some shit which can be amounted to "I think you've gotten weak and wanted to protect you!!!!" which does ring slightly hollow since we saw Majima at a ridiculously low point earlier. So either his low point was him contemplating Saejima's survival chances, or his low point was sincere (it sure sounded it) and his worry over Saejima being weak was just also happening at the same time. I don't really mind either way to be honest, we beat him up. I fail some QTEs.
33:00 - Baba deciding not to fulfill his orders on his own accord is actually extremely important and good as hell. It shows that all this changed him and gave him the motivation to forge his own path- or rather it began to though he's overwhelmed with doubt. It's extremely good.
33:50 - The fact he intentionally leaves evidence shows how much doubt he has though, he's giving up entirely more than forging his own path, he's just refusing to follow the orders of another but hasn't found the strength to continue on his own. It's really good is all.
38:00 - This was the first cry I had beating the game x.x Shinada is just a phenomenally likeable character, and watching him accept where his life has gone and what it's meant to others is way more touching than I'd assume considering it's a tale of a baseball star.
40:50 - THIS WAS HYPE AS HELL AND LEAD TO MY SECOND CRY. THIS PRISON FAMILY HAS NO RIGHT BEING THIS ENDEARING. Also, more or less, they get to deliver the message Shinada was supposed to lol.
42:50 - THIRD AND BIG AS HELL CRY. SHINADA YOU FOOL, YOU'VE A FOUND FAMILY AFTER-ALL!!! I genuinely adore this moment so much is all. It's such a wonderful payoff for this loveable fool. After all the runnin' away he has a home.
43:36 - I love Shinada so much the silly fuck.
46:00 - I got a laugh out of Akiyama KICKING ASS in the news footage (didn't mention but the first brawl cutscene was rather lacking wasn't it?) and Kiryu just like... punches a guy. It's hilarious to me. Also you best believe- I UNLOCKED IT, I'M USING IT!!!
48:00 - Now this is a, well, it's a bad reveal. Like look, there is a metric ton of good going on in this finale- but the reveal that Aizawa is his son and is evil and is the final boss is just too much zero-build-up-payoff. It's the worst part. It's not like extremely detrimental or anything- like it doesn't take away from the good stuff- but it's just entirely uninteresting and bad. It makes Aizawa's interest in Morinaga bizarre and uninteresting since he got no payoff, he had buildup with Saejima and then in the final scenes he's just like "Yeah, Mori was nice but who gives a fuck I am the one who killed him (I think he said) and I aspire to be strong as fuck because all of YOU IDIOTS have FRIENDS and CHARISMA >:(" and like, who fuckin' cares bud.
52:00 - Now I'll more or less sum up all of Akiyama's payoff here. 1- I unlocked it so I'm gonna use it! 2- He offhandedly says he wants to be a legend in this town, which in Y4 he already was- he was a myth, a city mystery- but of course he means like Kiryu not the loch ness monster. 3- He gets to be a legend by being the only civilian (or person in general) the Omi would bow to. It's kind of not built up at all and is a bit lame, but to be honest Akiyama has a pretty bit part in this entire game. He's kinda just a convenient returning character with motivation to assist Kiryu and a career that allows motivation to get involved through Park. To be blunt, his part in the story is weak. I wish it was stronger. But it's inoffensive and he at least gets something- as minor as it is. Getting to say he's king of the world is something, you know?
56:00 - I will say that the build up of "Oh shit, these are Kanai's men!" and the reveal that "Oh shit! They are WATASE'S men and all the clans who the Tojo were seeking alliances with!" is a good one. Watase is a fine enough character which I bring up only because I was told he was a standout- but he wasn't for me. His scenes are great, his growth with Katsuya is nice, but he's barely in the game and really only exists to be betrayed and then to be like "I'm one of the good yakuza despite being a war-lusting one because being a good yakuza is just complicated enough to allow this overlap" which is interesting for sure, but I don't know. Unless he does stuff in the subsequent games I didn't catch much in this one. Maybe he does- I assume he runs the Omi now!
1:00:00 - I kinda summed it up but yeah. Here's the final boss, Aizawa, a character we were mislead on and who's motivation is empty as fuck. It's, whatever. It's not the good part of the ending. The good part is everything prior and directly after. Like his entire deal is anti-silver-spoon talking points but also he includes being charismatic or capable as silver spoon-isms??? He pretty much just wants to be leader because he's strong. He'd arguably be more interesting if he just said it that way.
1:11:00 - The lyrics to Dream are anything but subtle and I love them and I love Haruka. Sliding this in here- Majima gets no payoff >:( Park's dream is accomplished in seeing her star on the stage, but no Majima moment? No sight of him accepting her loss? Lame.
1:14:00 - I genuinely LOVE that Aizawa focuses in on Kiryu's gunshot wound. He still accepts it as a fair fight because Kiryu presents it as one, but even then he pays mind to it as you'd expect someone wanting to fight at their strongest would- he wants to fight Kiryu at his best and he's accepting this because Kiryu presents as his best even when wounded- it's pretty cool. Fight happens. It's fine stuff, flashy and fun. Still maybe the weakest final boss yet because he has no build up. I'd be the first to admit without looking it up I can't list every final boss thus far, but like, Nishi was built up, Mine was built up, Goda was built up, I just, in this moment, don't recall having a big "WHO THE FUCK, THIS MEANS NOTHING?" fight in yakuza and this is certainly one of those.
1:25:00 - I cried AGAIN. Haruka just hit me with a truck of emotion here is all.
1:41:15 - This is a beautifully shot, emotional, and tragic looking ending. Heck, at 1:43:00 I initially thought he was being awoken in a hospital bed and I was like "Heh, there's the old Kiryu dies fakeout!" but no! They hammer home, they go for broke, they give a TRAGIC AS FUCK bitter ending on top of an ending that's like 99% happy as fuck in terms of offering everyone involved hope for the future. This was a good end :)
So then, some overall thoughts I maybe didn't get out- I mean there's no way this post touches everything but I want to at least try to because I like sharin' the experience and what I got out of it.
The fighting styles were mighty uneven as far as strengths or fun factor. To be blunt,
Kiryu has an overpowered counter attack and heat mode and since heat mode is underwhelming as hell that means he has JUST a counter attack- his strikes don't really hit all that well considering the improvements other characters saw this time around, so he's a bit one note here.
Saejima feel even meatier than before, nothing particularly 'stands out' but the fact that he has super armor as long as he has heat is a pretty big factor in making him feel good to use.
Akiyama got the short end of the straw this time around. His new gimmick is the launch combos and they are... well... less than shit at least from what I could feel during gameplay. They don't hurt much, they burn heat like crazy, and they can MISS, all while being a move that targets just one enemy- has no counter to blocking or armor- and provides no armor in turn.
Despite not losing anything, he kinda got screwed.
(I'm lead to believe Akiyama is invulnerable during his aerial combos which my blurb in my finale post complained felt worthless and cited that as a reason.
If so then I was wrong but I still hold all my other complaints towards it, just not the 'it has no armor or invuln' bit assuming that's true.)
Shinada wins out for being unique and being a weapon oriented character that actually does well with weapons. Weapons have always been something I pretty much ignore in Yakuza and the series itself has always desperately tried to make them interesting with things like weapon skills, Kamiya works, and the like. But other than the god weapons like the golden gun weapons just never felt good to manage.
Using them, sure, that's fine, but managing them? Durability and skills and limited movesets and all that? Nah. But Shinada really does a lot to make them less shit! His innate abilities that raise durability a metric ton REALLY make weapons feel better to use with him- and his unique movesets with weapons are pretty damn good (mostly. The pipe/'normal one hander pole size object' moveset is worthless as heck, it regularly misses).
He's fun.
===
Revelations were a miss this time around for me. Since you couldn't have seen them if you tried on my blog let it be known- I ONLY got the quest related revelations for each character- which is to say- ONE rev per character.
Revelations in 5 are weapon based, and not just 'bat or pole or gun' or whatever- they are DISPOSABLE TEMPORARY weapon based.
What you are supposed to do is go to the specific place on the map where that one revelation weapon spawns, hope like hell you find an enemy, and wail on them like crazy. If you use a weapon x amount of times then you'll get a revelation according to the internet. This is beyond ridiculous and means a normal playthrough will get none of these, while a focused one will be bored out of their mind GRINDING to get these.
I did not bother.
===
Now.
Yakuza 5.
This might be my favorite Yakuza overall.
I still think 0 is probably the best overall for most people, it has the best style, it has from what I've experienced the best gameplay, it's story is tear jerking and exciting and fun.
But as a yakuza game overall, I really have to give it to 5 personally. Because 0 tried to work within its bounds- it made itself a great entry point to the series or a great addition to Yakuza 1 / Kiwami as background.
But 5 is building on 4 previous games and it does so fucking phenomenally.
There's something to be said about a later entry in a series gaining extra payoff thanks to multiple entries of build up and character depth and 5 fucking does it.
I just. It explores the motivation of some fan-favorites so well, it expands characters so fucking well, I know I've harped on about it but just Saejima- man! Saejima goes from a run of the mill "Decent" character to a fully fledged and explored entity! And I LOVE him!
And no he's not the only shining spot, like hell he is, but he's such a posterchild for what 5 does right in my eyes- take something that's already good and breath some life into it. Also I adore it's laser focus on a singular theme and all the ways it wanted to explore it.
Like. I think Kiwami and Zero take the cake for the most fun I've had " 'playing' Yakuza so far, but 5 takes the cake for the most fun I've had 'in general' like gameplay and me just thinking about it because there's so much to think on.
More time will tell as I compartmentalize my thoughts and perhaps forget some details as one does, but right this moment- this might be my favorite Yakuza game.
I love it.
Also, woot! I beat Y5 before Monhun Rise came out :D Now I can start that game without putting a story on hold!
...
Except I also told my sister that I'd start Omori after Y5. So I guess alongside monhun I'll be playing through a game with a hefty and wonderfully done story. Which is what I didn't want to do with Y5.
I just can't win, lol.

i was looking through your final preference ranking, and i was wondering who your favorite character and favorite female character of all time are?
Hehe. You’re wondering who were able to top Platinum as my favorite characters of all time? Well, if you recognize the music that’s been playing on my Tumblr for a long time now, you’d probably guess who my favorite female character is, and as for the male, it’s either one or the other. And based on that preference post, it’s the mad one.
But if you don’t, the answer is...
For my top favorite character of all time, it would have to be... the Mad Dog himself, Majima Goro from the Yakuza series.
And I don’t mean the “normal” version that was in Yakuza 0, before he just snapped. I mean, the MAD version, after he just lets himself go nuts. "Right, wrong... nobody’s got a clue what the difference is in this town. So I’m gonna have more fun and live crazier than any of ‘em!”
... And so he does whatever he wants to, including hiding in a manhole for you to walk over before popping up to fight you.
You can hear his voice in his three karaoke songs that are on this Tumblr right now. 24 Hour Cinderella, As Long as You’re Happy, and GET TO THE TOP! (remix). ... And very briefly in his own anthem...
... Majima Construction Anthem, where he got his formerly-yakuza family to form a construction company, fighting a bunch of Japanese wrestling legends, all the while building a massive condominium known as Kamurocho Hills... which actually completes by the time of Yakuza 5. "For a project like this... look it up on the internet and start building! Complainers get no paycheque! ... Actually, I'll kill ya first!"
Majima is my favorite character of all time, because... why wouldn’t he be? He’s certainly more interesting and hilarious than any of the Dex Holders, male or female. And unlike any of those, he can be quite brutal, because... yakuza.
And my top favorite female character of all time would be... Sawamura Haruka from the same series.
You can hear her voice in MANY of her karaoke songs on my Tumblr: Otometal My Life, I Wanna Change Myself, GET TO THE TOP!, Otomeiro My Life, So Much More!, Loneliness Loop, and Because I Have You.
That little 9 year old girl from Yakuza 1 (2005) who’s been following the player character around, has grown up... and then disaster happened in Yakuza 5 (2012) and 6 (2016)...
To summarize the disaster, after losing absolutely everyone they ever cared about in 2005, the player character (Kiryu) and Haruka have no one else but each other, so they live together and take over an orphanage in 2007. In 2011, Haruka gets scouted by a talent agency, and she gets put on a fast track of becoming an idol. Except she has to distance herself from Kiryu, since the agency can’t allow the manic fans to find out that her adopted father is a retired yakuza legend, and the scandal will kill her chances immediately. So Kiryu has to leave the orphanage and does not see Haruka until the very end of Yakuza 5 in 2012, and the only time he spends with her in that game is the non-canon one in Premium Adventure mode after the game ends.
Haruka never really wanted this in the first place, and she really hates the idea that she’d have to distance herself from Kiryu. So at the end of her debut concert, instead of singing the last song, she declares retirement, reveals her bond to Kiryu, aka, the legendary yakuza, and runs out, effectively throwing her future and career out the window, just so that she can stay with Kiryu.
But the events of Yakuza 5 leaves Kiryu hospitalized, and then he’s immediately arrested for almost 4 years. And during this time, Haruka is hunted by tabloid journalists for being a “yakuza idol”, and decides to run away from the orphanage to prevent the other kids from suffering from her decision. So when Kiryu is released from prison in 2016, Haruka is gone, so he goes to find her, and then finds out that she got hit by a car and is in a coma. Haruka wakes up at the very end of Yakuza 6, and after more yakuza-related bullsh*t, Kiryu “dies” so that Haruka will be kept safe from other yakuza who may want to hurt her in order to get to him. And so Yakuza 6 ends with Kiryu walking away from the orphanage, and from Haruka. Which means, Haruka kicked her career out the window to be able to live with him in peace, and then spent a combined total of like A DAY with him before she never saw him again, and believes him to be dead. ... Ow, my heart.
... And he never did again. ... I want to cry. Hahaha... ... Especially when I play the past games again. “I want to stay with you!” ... ugh...
So why is she my favorite? Well, for one, she’s incredibly mature given her age, so she’s the opposite of being childish, even at an age where it would’ve made sense. And she’s INCREDIBLY hardened. A normal 9 year old girl would’ve probably broken down many times over after being kidnapped three times in rapid succession, got shot at, had a grenade explode next to her, watched MANY people die, had her biological father shoot her twice, watched her mother die to said biological father’s bullet, watched said biological father get stabbed, had a bomb explode disturbingly close... and all that when she was 9. And all she had to rely on was this clearly-yakuza stranger (Kiryu) who was just released from prison, and the only reason why he was looking after her was because he’s actually a nice guy, and they were looking for the same person.
Haruka gets kidnapped 6 times across 6 games, had been shot at many times, even saw her new mother figure murdered, almost got killed by a car, watched her home get obliterated by a bulldozer, saw countless people die in front of her, watched one of her protectors get hit on the neck by a sledgehammer, watched countless people get absolutely brutalized by a legendary dragon (Kiryu), and even watched him fighting two tigers to save her.
And in the end, Haruka watches Kiryu get shot by the bullet that was meant for her, and watches him get shot two more times in the end of Yakuza 6, and then watches him “die” in front of her.
And despite all that, she remains bright and cheerful, and the only thing that ever traumatized her until then was watching Kiryu get stabbed at the very end of Yakuza 3. She’s always super nice to everyone (except to the guy who stabbed Kiryu), even the two “rival” idols in Yakuza 5 who give her so much sh*t due to jealousy.
So Haruka’s devastating history, her strength to overcome it, her super kindness and how absolutely adorable she is in the entire series, following Kiryu around, makes her my top favorite female character of all time. The only “shame” is that in the only game where she’s playable, Yakuza 5, she doesn’t get to fight. Makes sense, since she’s 16 years old, and she’s not going to beat the sh*t out of hundreds of random punks that pick a fight with anyone.
... And she’s partially responsible for the most uncomfortable cutscene I’ve ever seen in my life, and also for the most awkward cutscene I’ve ever seen in my life. And also the more heartwarming dialogues too.
Yakuza 5 Premium Adventure (aka, non-canon) Haruka: “Look, Mister! It’s a Ferris wheel! Wow, it’s so big!” Kiryu: “Want to ride it? You really liked it back in the day.” Haruka: “With you, Mister? Well...” Kiryu: “Why? What’s wrong with me?” Haruka: “It’s just... I kind of want to ride it with a boyfriend, you know?” Kiryu: “B - Boyfriend?!” Haruka: “I mean, if I had one. ... Why do you look so serious?” Kiryu: “... Almost gave me a heart attack...” Haruka: “Aww, you’re so cute when you’re flustered.” Kiryu: “...” Haruka: “... Say, if I did get a boyfriend...” Kiryu: “Hm? What did you say?” Haruka: “Oh, nothing.”
And then if you look at my recent banter posts, one of them (Ferris Wheel) is practically identical to this...
And yes. The Yakuza series (including the technically-not-Yakuza-series Judgment) has rapidly climbed up to become one of my favorite game series of all time. It’s not my top favorite, however, but it is my 3rd favorite. The top two have nostalgia going into them as well, since I’ve been playing them pretty regularly since 1998 (... technically I was merely WATCHING back then). And no, Pokemon is not one of those.

It rained the entire weekend in Hira’a, so Zuko and Katara spent their time at Noren’s home. Katara watched in fascination one afternoon as Kiyi pulled out a broad canvas and she and Zuko sat cross legged on the floor looking at it. Zuko cupped his chin in a hand and tilted his head as Kiyi rattled off math and color theory. Eventually they got into a discussion on brush strokes so Katara got up to help Noriko with tea.
They watched movies, played board games, and helped around the house doing chores. It was the most mundane yet calming experience of Katara’s life.
After the weekend, she returned to school and things settled down a bit. People would ask her about the Avatar from time to time, but mostly the discussions were about the impending examinations.
Rohan sent her a video of Thuy at one of Toph’s matches, and Katara hadn’t seen such an expression of bi awakening since Sokka was introduced to the warriors of the North Pole.
[Do you think she knows?] Katara texted Rohan.
[She has no idea.] They replied.
More videos came as Thuy started her training; the Avatar cycle demanded that elements were taught in a certain order. So earthbending came first, and Toph proved to be a merciless, albeit chaotically so, master.
She called the Avatar “Wet Wipe.”
Katara sent videos back of her mountain of texts, or the weird things she saw happening in the library at 2 AM.
Zuko was less inclined to use social platforms than Rohan, but still managed to contact her just as much. He sent texts of new teas, or random parts of his day while in the palace. Those pictures were always a bit shocking; his long hair fell loose down his back save for his top knot, and his clothing was much more formal.
For some reason, when he sent her a picture of himself in his court robes, it made Katara blush.
Still, they texted in the morning and before bed, which was dancing at the edge of friendship and romance. It was frightening how long Katara would agonize over an emoji sometimes.
As midterms approached, everyone sent her encouraging messages or memes. Rohan was the best at making her laugh, so she had to resist pulling her phone out during study sessions. Thankfully, her concentration had gotten better since she started attending a PTSD group on campus. The exams still stressed her out, and her sleep schedule was still utter garbage, but at least now she had a plan.
After her final exam, she left out a breath and texted Zuko.
[So, date?]
The plan was a movie and then dinner. That way, Zuko informed her, they would have something to talk about while they ate.
“We might miss our show time.” Zuko said and Katara snorted.
“But we will absolutely have something to talk about.” She replied.
“Be quiet!” A man growled and Katara rolled her eyes.
The rope around her wrists rubbed against her skin painfully. When she leaned back, she felt Zuko’s back stiffen to support her. His hands and feet were encased in metal to keep him from firebending.
They had been grabbed in the parking lot. Zuko, lacking any sense of self-preservation, had gone for Katara as two men held her. This opened him up to the woman behind him, who slammed a baton into the back of his head. As he went down, one of the two men who held her dosed Katara with chloroform.
Waking up in the back of a van had been less than ideal.
“Look, you very clearly were not hired by my father, which means that you’re not of any real caliber of kidnappers to keep me here.” Zuko said. The woman who had knocked him out turned in the passenger seat to glare at him.
“And how do you know that, princeling?” She asked.
“Because you don’t know who my companion is.” Zuko said.
Without the full range of her arms, there was very little Katara could do in the way of bending. But she only had a little bit of liquid to work with anyway, so it didn’t matter.
“The Waterbender? We know your little girlfriend isn’t much of a fighter.” The driver scoffed.
Using her fingers, Katara called the blood from Zuko’s head wound. It came as a glob between her thumb and index finger, so she stretched it into a thin thread. Flicking it out, she mimed the act of sawing with her two fingers and the blood acted it out over the rope around her wrists.
It was going to take awhile.
“So what is it that you want?” Zuko asked. “Ransom?”
“Shut it pretty boy.” The woman hissed.
“Oh that’s original. Sure, make fun of the guy with the burn on his face. I know you’re criminals but do you have to be so insensitive?” Zuko retorted. The woman looked perplexed before turning to the driver.
“Did we get the right guy?” She asked.
“Excuse me, I am one in a million.” Zuko said, sounding offended. “I didn’t get this burn just to be treated like a commoner.”
Katara snorted again and almost lost her focus. She was about halfway through the rope and could feel the loosening.
“We know that your sister is going to train the Avatar and we don’t need that psycho corrupting her.” The driver said. “So you’re going to shut up and be a good little bargaining chip or else we kill your girlfriend.”
“Okay so one, she’s not my girlfriend, yet. We were planning on having a nice date, see how things went, and maybe she’d decide to go out with me again. We’re not rushing things here.” Zuko said and Katara smiled. “Secondly, I totally agree with you about Azula. Same page, totally get it. But, and I am not doubting your reasoning skills for a second, how is kidnapping me supposed to change my father’s mind about that?”
“Because if he wants you back alive, he’ll have the Avatar sent elsewhere for training!” The woman snapped.
“Look, where’s the other guy. He’s been quiet, I want to hear his thoughts on things.” Zuko said.
“We’re clear.” Katara said as she cut through the last loop of rope.
“Never mind.” Zuko said and swung up onto a knee. He slid behind the passenger seat and slammed his metal clad hands on either side of the woman’s head. As he heated the metal, she started to scream.
Katara, staggered by her bound ankles, reached out toward the dash. This was another trick she had picked up after her training with Hama and had been used to disable many vehicles during the war. It only worked when people had gotten lazy on upkeep, which was surprisingly frequent among the more far flung troops.
Closing her fists around the water source, Katara yanked her arms back, pulling water and coolant out of the engine. In a quick motion, Katara used the water to peel apart the metal around Zuko’s hands just as she had done to the factory in Jang Hui. Zuko then went to the driver, who had begun to swerve dramatically, and held a blade of fire by his face.
Katara froze herself to the floor of the van to keep from being tossed about while she cut off her last ropes and freed Zuko’s feet.
“Stop the van and we’ll let you go.” Zuko said, his voice low. As the driver seemed to debate the merits of listening to him, Katara went to the woman. She was huddled in the corner of her seat, whimpering and covering her burns with her eyes closed. Pulling water around her hands - making sure to completely discard the coolant - Katara called out the healing energy, making the water glow.
“What are you doing? Get away from her!” The driver said and the van jerked as Zuko brought the blade closer to his face.
“Don’t you worry what she’s doing. It’s leaps and bounds better than what I’m thinking of doing to you.” Zuko said.
Katara touched the woman’s face and she jumped, but didn’t move as the cooling sensation brought relief to her face.
“This will just take a second.” Katara murmured and the woman opened her eyes. She looked terrified.
“I’m a healer.” Katara added and tears welled in the woman’s eyes.
After a few moments, Katara pulled her hands away and the woman brought her hands up, shaking terribly, to her face. As she felt the unburned skin, she started to cry.
“Look,” Zuko said, sounding calmer. “There’s a noodle restaurant there. Stop and let us out.”
“Haruka, are you okay?” The driver asked.
“Y-yeah.” The woman said, still crying.
The driver grunted and jerked the wheel over, coming to a stop in front of a row of shops.
“Katara?” Zuko asked. Katara went to the side door, pulling it open. After she jumped out, Zuko dissipated the fire and followed after. He barely closed the van door before it pulled away, its tires screaming against the pavement.
“Well that was fun.” He remarked.
“Let me see your head.” Katara said with a sigh and Zuko obediently walked to her. She healed him, washing the blood out of his hair before tossing the water into the gutter.
“Hungry?” He asked.
“I could eat.” Katara said and they laughed.
“Does that happen to you often?” She asked as they started to walk to the shop. People who had stopped to stare at the van watched them go.
“Less than you’d think, but more than other people.” Zuko admitted. He reached the door first, opening it and standing aside. “After you.”
Katara walked in and saw steam burst from behind the counter. It was fairly pretty and smelled like warmth.

100 follower special event✨✨
Hello babies🌸🌸( tis the name I have dubbed thee)!
First and foremost I would like to thank you for liking my content enough to actually follow, let alone having me reach 100 followers. I hope you keep enjoying my content in the future and keep on supporting me. I make it my mission to make sure that everyone reading my work feels loved, included and happy. That is one of the main reasons I always try to write gender neutral stories and refrain from describing physical features unless requested. I hope that in the future I am able to write for female characters as well to broaden my demographic. I hope you know that I love each an every one of guys very much.
This is the post for my 100 follower special. It took some time to figure out exactly what I wanted to do since I really wanted to something special for you all. I hope you guys enjoy this special event and bear with me since this is my first time doing this. When the event is over I’ll upload a google form that I’d appreciate if you filled out so that I know what to change when I hopefully hit another milestone.
The event will be held from the day this is posted and will continue for the whole month. Which means 4th - 31st August 2020 according to the CEST time zone. I will no longer take request starting from 11:30 pm on the 31st, seeing as I most likely won’t be able to produce something I’m proud of while on a time crunch. I probably will close it early if there aren’t that many requests since I start school in a week and have many important exams. That’s why my requests are currently closed. Everything that has to do with the special will be tagged with #100 special. My guidelines still apply during the event.
If you would like to be added to a taglist for a specific group, person, anime, character, for questions only, prompts only or everything just send me an ask or a dm :)
BTW I started writing this post at like 5:30 pm and finished at 2:12 am. ngl I wasn’t writing between 8 and 10 pm since I was busy helping my parents. That’s still a long time tho...
When the event is done:
I will link this in my masterlist.
Every prompt that is written will have a list of names next to it. Every name will be a link to the post.
I will edit the layout of this post so that my legend, that I add to every masterlist to symbolize what kind of post it is, will be there.
n e wayz😗
For my 100 special I will be making a Prompt list, a Q&A and redraws + art
