So now we got Clay's side of the cave in!! He didnt really have time to process any of the emotions he was feeling due to having to immediately run for his life, then guide others to safety alongside Viva.

I know Jack and Maddie's relationship in canon is probably MEANT to be seen--depending on the episode--as a pretty bog-standard, 2000s-era "idiot big dad and exasperated, smart wife who puts up with him" trope.

BUT

my personal favorite interpretation is that BOTH are equally genius engineers who are also equally on the autistic spectrum, with a specific hyperfixation on ghosts and mad science.

The main difference is that Maddie has siblings and female social expectations, so she had to learn how to mask in ways that are seen as sociable and polite and attractive and "smart." When she does bumble major social cues (such as not recognizing Vlad's flirting until Danny points it out decades later, or humiliating her kids by showing up in a hazmat suit at school), it feels more "socially acceptable" from her.

She genuinely loves Jack because he could not care less about her being Feminine or Socially Acceptable. He just wants to shout with her about ghosts! So the nanosecond she's around him she can yank the mask off and go chasing spirits with a toaster turned into a machine gun.

Juliette Nichols is tiny and greasy and looks like she'd bite you at the smallest provocation but she loves so deeply and can't express it easily and ALSO she's so so smart even if all her braincells sometimes merge into one slightly less smart one because she's so focused on something she forgets everything else to detriment of herself and everyone around her. I love her perfect character 10/10 no notes

Each of the Krew had brand new anxieties and fears that spawned from the Jabberwock fight.

Gricko became worried he wasn't fast enough, wasn't good enough at magic. He began trying to rapidly improve by throwing everything at a wall and seeing what sticks. He also became considerably jumpy, like any interaction would necessitate an escape plan.

Frost was equally worried about his magical ability. He began pulling away from the group to meditate more and clear his mind, wits always sharp. He cannot be distracted like he was, too caught up to try and logic out what this creature wanted from them. It's for their own good that he isolates a little more. He needs to focus to protect them.

Torbek is less trying to hone a skill and more trying to rack his brain for answers. Why was this stupid Other ignoring him then but not when they attacked his friends? Or that rabbit guy?? If he has to be stuck like this, why won't they at least help protect his friends? Is he not strong enough? Not smart enough? Not willing to push his limits?

Gideon is disappointed in himself. He should be *so strong*, it's all he's good at. All he's good for. It's his *job*. And yet, he's the first to die. He just has to get tougher. So he starts working out more, by himself. Tries to improve his endurance, his pain tolerance. He *can't* die again. He has to protect his friends. If he dies, he needs to die knowing the enemy is dying with him. That's all that matters.

Kremy is pointedly ignoring the situation, on the outside. On the inside, his head has become a whirlwind of brand new anxieties. He makes plans for every possible situation that pops into his head. He has an escape route for every action. Every word is thought out five more times than usual. He just has to be careful. They can't die. They won't. He just has to be one more step ahead.
