Chapter 1: Hunting Season
Season One | Season Two | Season Three | Season Four
Tumblr media
Raining Hellfire: Season Four
Word Count: 3540 words
Warnings: swearing, mentions of death, visions, typical vecna curse violence
[A/N: just casually getting the gang back together no biggie. plus this chapter already starts off as a rollercoaster so oops]
Tumblr media
Hunting Season
The drive took hours. You only took one break the entire ride. You couldn’t waste any more time.
WELCOME TO HAWKINS
You drove by the sign with a shaky sigh, hands gripping the wheel tighter. As soon as you crossed that border, your chest felt tighter. A strange burst of energy coursed through your veins, something you hadn’t felt in a long time.
Hawkins hadn’t changed one bit since you were last here. People still walked around in their day to day lives with absolutely no clue about what you and your friends have done for them.
You turned down familiar streets, recollecting memories you’d rather forget. Cornwalls Street went by quickly; flashes of riding your bikes to escape the men from the lab, El showing just how powerful she could be by flipping a van right over your heads.
Elm and Cherry, the Halloween house party; the night that brought you and Steve closer together but you and Eddie further apart. The night that changed everyone’s relationships.
Then, you were approaching the Wheeler house. Running back with Nancy and Jonathan after finding the Upside Down, barely escaping with your lives. Days spent in the basement with the party, with El.
You park the car outside the home you never thought you’d see again. Jack’s home. Your home. All your happiest memories now fatal reminders of what you had lost.
Grabbing your backpack, you step out of the car and take a deep breath.
The door creaked open, welcoming you to an empty house. Nothing had changed, the greyish wallpaper still peeling from the corners, a faint smell of your aunt’s perfume. Everything you didn’t take with you had been sat here collecting dust for months.
You had expected the house to go up for sale when you moved. After all, it was now Susan’s property since she was his next of kin. Max had mentioned she didn’t want the house, but you thought she’d sell it for the money. The town had been too occupied with the Starcourt mess to bother with things like this, you supposed.
Dropping your bag with a sigh, you close your eyes. You had barely made it out of the hallway before everything hit you in a blur.
Jack stood in front of you, saddened eyes staring into yours. His hands covered in-
You snap your eyes back open, shaking your head. You couldn’t do this to yourself. Not today.
Max’s letters had stated that Steve and Robin were now working at Family Video, a little store you’d been in multiple times from your obsession with movies. You’d just have to start there.
But it was a wasted trip.
Once you arrived, you could clearly see the ‘Closed’ sign taunting you in the window. You had even tried knocking on the glass, hoping they were still in there for any reason. No such luck.
“Great.” You mutter, turning around and surveying the street. Robin did say they were looking for Eddie. They must have found him.
You didn’t want to imagine what the worse-case scenario would be.
As you walk through the town, you try and rethink what Robin had said. But nothing she had spoken to you about gave any indication on where they all might be. Fuck. You were going to have to do this alone.
You pass the cinema, resisting the urge to look down the alleyway beside it. Instead, you stare at the road and something catches your eye. A truck drives by, filled with guys in matching jackets. But that wasn’t the strange part. It was who you saw sat in the back seat.
“Lucas?” You question to yourself as they speed by. You knew he had joined the basketball team, Max had stated that in her last letter. You just didn’t know why he looked so unhappy.
Venturing further into the town didn’t calm your nerves any more. In fact, it felt scarier. People sent odd looks your way, some glaring and others ushering their friends away like you were some kind of disease.
“Y/n?”
You turn at your name, frowning when you didn’t recognise the guy in front of you. He was wearing a Hawkins High jacket, clearly a part of the basketball team but astray from the rest of his teammates. It sent a wave of anxiety through you seeing him stood there, looking at you. He knew your name despite never meeting before. And his eyes held something dangerous.
“Can I help you?” You question as he looks around before stepping closer.
“You dated Eddie Munson, right?”
“Uh…” You felt your heart hammer faster. How the hell did he know that? “… Why are you asking?”
“Where is he?” His voice raised, an angry expression flooding his face and you step back.
“I’m gonna go now.” You say before turning away and continuing your walk.
“We’ll find him sooner or later!” He yells at you and your steps quicken.
Eddie was right. The town would spare no expense in hunting down the ‘freak’.
Tumblr media
Taking your car for a drive didn’t prove useful to you. You had mentally tried to map out Eddie’s safe places, areas he could lay low in. It had to be somewhere remote but, with a heavy heart, you realise that you hadn’t spent time with him for two years. He could be anywhere.
You felt hopeless until a shirt caught your attention and your eyes widened with an idea.
Pulling up beside him, Jeff looked as if he was ready to start running until he saw who was behind the wheel.
“Y/n?” He sounded shocked, shaking his head as he pulled his jacket tighter around his Hellfire shirt. “You’re back?”
“It’s a long story.” You sigh, attempting a smile.
“Look, Eddie-”
“I know. It’s kind of why I’m here. I just…” You take a breath, “I don’t suppose you know how I can contact him?”
Jeff shakes his head, leaning against the window, “No clue.”
“Shit.” You breathe.
“But...” He glances around you before leaning in closer, lowering his voice, “The guys and I think we have an idea of where you could find him.”
“Really?”
“When he started dealing…” He shoots you a look and you nod, sending a sign you already knew, “Yeah, so, when he started dealing, he kept telling us he was getting his stuff from a guy called Rick.”
“Rick?” You frown. You recognised the name.
“We figure if he was anywhere, it would be at Rick’s.” He looked uncomfortable, staring away from you, “We wanted to go find him ourselves but ever since Jason and his mates found out about Chrissy, they haven’t let us out of their sights. They think we’re gonna lead them to him.”
“It’s bad, isn’t it?” You question and he solemnly nods. You bite your lip. “Any clue where this Rick lives?”
“No, sorry.” He winces, “But I do know that he used to work down at the Mechanics. Eddie met him there once.”
The Mechanics. Shit. Now you knew why you recognised that name. He worked with Jack.
“Thank you.” You nod, getting your car into gear.
“Wait.” Jeff says and you turn, waiting for his response. “Tell Eddie… tell him we’re all with him. We don’t believe anything that they’re saying about him.”
“I will.” You smile and you pull away, heading to the Mechanics.
Tumblr media
“Yes, I’m looking for Rick.” You say for the hundredth time, arms folded across your chest.
“Sorry, little lady. But I don’t got no clue who the hell that is.” The older man grumbled. You hadn’t seen him here before, obviously a recent hire.
“But-”
“Y/n?”
You turn to see Mark, a man who was probably the closest to your father in terms of friendship. You’d met him a couple of times when Jack was working late and you waited for him to finish up his work.
“Mark.” You smile, “I was-”
“Looking for Rick, yeah.” He nods, frowning to the man in front of you, “I’ll take it from here.”
“But, she-”
“That’s Jack’s daughter.” He simply said and the man gave a knowing nod, disappearing into the back and leaving you two be. “Hey, kid. I’m sorry you lost him. When I heard the news… well, let’s just say I refused to believe it at first. He was a good man.”
“Yeah, he was.” You swallow guilt, changing the topic. “Um, so… Rick?”
“Right, yeah. Rick. He’s not working here no more, moved on after the mall fire. Think he’s out of town.”
Shit, you thought.
“Any chance you have an address?”
He raises his eyebrow, obviously knowing something. “It’s none of my business but you’re Jack’s kid and I-”
“I’m not buying.” You assure, shaking your head, “I’m just looking for my friend, that’s all. People said I could find him at Rick’s.”
“I don’t-”
“I’m not leaving until I have an address.”
He sighs, “He lives down by the lake. Don’t know where exactly but he owns a boat so I expect it’s pretty close to the edge.”
“Thank you.” You sigh.
“Jack was right.” Mark smiles and you frown. “You really are a stubborn one.”
You bid him goodbye, smiling at his comment as you climb back into your car.
Tumblr media
You park the car, frowning. Where the hell is it?
The lake was surrounded by a dense forest, making it increasingly harder for you to spot Rick’s house. Having to step away from your car, you ventured out into the trees, figuring that your best bet was to follow the body of water.
You walk deeper into the woods, your head thumping louder and louder until you stopped, rubbing your forehead. You should have gotten more sleep.
It’s not until blood begins to drip from your nose that your skin crawls with goosebumps.
“No.” You whisper, but it’s too late.
You expect to see a menacingly flipped version of the woods you stood in, but instead you are met with something else entirely.
You’re no longer in the woods. There are no vines wrapped around trees, no white particles threatening your lungs.
Your heart stopped once you realised you were stood in Eddie’s trailer.
The lights were flickering wildly, illuminating the room in quick flashes. You barely notice. You’re too busy staring at Eddie, the look of complete horror striking his face as a girl levitates in the middle of his living room.
“Chrissy.” You shake your head in denial. Robin told you about what happened last night.
This was a memory. It just wasn’t your memory.
Suddenly, Chrissy is flung to the ceiling and one by one, her bones begin to snap.
Eddie’s screams were drowned out as you stare up at the poor girl, her hollowed eye sockets staring back down at you.
Then, everything changes again.
You’re in the middle of a road, one you recognise, situated just outside the trailer park. Your heart still hammering from your last vision, you turn around, searching.
It was dark, nothing like how you last saw the sky in the woods. It had to be another memory you never had.
That’s when you see a boy, deathly still as he stood just up ahead.
You cautiously approach him, reaching out.
But, just like Chrissy, he begins to lift off of the ground.
You rush to him, seeing the whites of his eyes staring to the sky, arms held out either side of him. Then, they begin to snap. You let out a choked sob, shaking your head. What was happening?
You run, not knowing where it would take you, hoping, praying, that you could escape this.
Your feet take you as far as you can go before the ground suddenly shifts, and you’re falling.
You land in a pool of red, vines slithering along the ground. You look up to the sky, holding your breath. Floating objects swam around the air; pieces of a house, a stained glass window with a design you couldn’t quite make out. You didn’t have the time to.
“Welcome back, Y/n”
A chill strikes your spine at the all too familiar voice. It was back. Your chest felt compressed as a tear slipped down your cheek.
“What’s happening?” You shake your head, hearing the echo of a haunting laugh.
“The end is happening” They say and you search the crimson plane but find no one, “Can’t you feel it?”
“What do you want?” Your voice is barely a whisper.
You were scared, on edge. You hadn’t felt this way since the demon first visited you. All those years ago.
“You will see”
You stand from the puddle, dark substances sticking to your clothes as you screamed. “WHAT DO YOU WANT?!”
“I told you that you would be their end” A shadow suddenly emerges from behind you and you stumble away, tripping. “Your fate is already catching up to you”
“I didn’t know them!” You sob, head spinning as you try and search for a way out. You hadn’t felt this trapped in one of your visions before. It was stronger than it had ever been.
Then, all of a sudden, the figure steps forward. And for the first time in four years, you see its face.
Red and raw skin stretched out into vines that wrapped around their body, one abnormally long arm reaching out, claws barely touching your face when they suddenly pull away. You don’t know why but you can feel it. It was like there was still some kind of barrier between you both.
They stare down at you with milky white eyes.
“You’re running out of time, Y/n.”
You gasp for air, hitting the ground.
You immediately scramble for your feet when you start to hear incoherent whispers floating around you, sprinting further into the woods to escape them.
Your visions had always had a toll on you. But you never felt fear like you had just then.
You keep running until you see a house in the distance and your heart races. It could be Rick’s. It needed to be Rick’s.
Peering through the window, you shake away the hammering of your heart. No one was in there.
You hear whispers once again and your breath hitches. Spinning around, you wait for the monster to find you again. But they weren’t the same whispers.
You recognised these ones.
Creeping around the side of the house, you find a boathouse overlooking the edge of the lake and your heart skips a beat. This had to be Rick’s.
You try your best to keep light footed once the voices got louder. It sounded like a group of people and you really didn’t want a run in with the ‘hunters’.
“… but they went bye-bye.”
You stop moving when you recognise Steve’s undeniable voice echo out of the boathouse. You had found them.
“And Y/n.” Dustin’s voice added to Steve’s point, a hint of sadness.
You start to move around the back, noticing another entrance. You could even see their faint shadows marking the floorboards behind them.
“Y/n was involved in all of this?” Eddie. Relief hit you; they had found him.
You hear Steve clear his throat before speaking. “More than any of us.”
“But she’s not here.” Max’s solemn voice was the loudest as you take a final step.
Just as you can see them all clearly, the floorboards creak under your feet and they all whip their heads to focus on you, everyone reeling from the fact that you were stood right there.
“I guess we spoke too soon.” Robin breathes out, a smirk playing on her lips in happiness.
You stare at each of their faces, guilt and joy bubbling into an anxious mix. You don’t know what to say, how to speak. So, you blurt the first word that came to mind.
“Hi.”
“What-how-when?” Dustin stammered as he and Max practically flew to you, capturing you into a tight hug and a sad laugh escaped your lips.
“How did you find us?” Robin questions, glancing to Steve and Eddie before adding herself into the group hug.
“Oh, you know.” You shrug, smiling at your sister when she steps away. “Drove 17 hours, tried looking for you guys at the store, then finding Jeff who told me about Rick, and then I went to the Mechanics where they told me Rick lived somewhere out here and, if I’m being honest, I kinda stumbled into here from pure dumb luck.”
“You really are the world’s greatest detective.” Dustin looks to you in awe and you ruffle his hat.
“Jeff?”
Eddie’s voice catches your attention and you finally look at him, all kinds of feelings hitting you at once.
“Yeah.” You nod, “He, uh… he wanted me to let you know that they all have your back. The Hellfire Club.”
He smiles at that, slowly nodding as he avoids your eyes.
“So we’re not talking about the fact that YOU’RE BACK?!” Dustin yells and you step back, giving him room to break down. Max simply raises her eyebrows at him, unable to hide the smile teasing her lips.
Dustin suddenly reaches his hand out and you stare at it for a second before realising. The handshake. Executed perfectly, Dustin nods in content, crossing his arms.
“How did you know?” Steve asks, something unreadable on his face as he looks at you.
“Um…” You avoid looking to Robin. You wanted to leave her out of it, especially since she had told you the others had wanted to leave you out of it. “I had a bad feeling, I guess.”
“Thank god.” Dustin breathes, “Because if you weren’t here, there was no way we were gonna defeat Vecna.”
“Vecna?” You question.
“It’s what they’re calling the thing that killed Chrissy.” Max explains, “Another thing from-”
“DnD, yeah.” You nod, searching your memory, “The powerful mind wizard, right?”
They all raise their eyebrows and Eddie’s eyes widen.
You laugh awkwardly, “I… I must have heard Will talking about it on one of your campaigns or something.”
“We never had a Vecna campaign.” Dustin frowns and you tighten your lips.
“Anyway,” Robin saves you, stepping forward, “Now that we have Y/n… what’s the plan?”
“How am I supposed to help?” You ask, shaking your head, “I’ve literally just gotten here, Robs, how could I possibly-”
“Your powers.” Max says, nodding slightly and your breath hitches.
You felt a darkness creeping through your spine and into your arms, faint black lines covering the skin. With a yell, you push your arms out and the tentacles stabbed straight into the Mind Flayer so quickly you almost missed it.
“Powers?” Eddie’s eyebrows raise as high as they could go.
You slowly shake your head, “Whatever that was, it was a one time thing. I-I don’t even know where it came from.”
“So… you don’t have a plan?” Eddie shakes his head at your friends and you frown.
“So, okay.” Robin nods, trying to lighten the mood, “We’re- we’re technically in the…”
“Kinda-” Steve tries, waving his hand like the answer would appear in front of him.
“Brainstorming phase.” Max offers and they all nod.
“Brainstorming.” Steve agrees.
“There’s.. there’s nothing to worry about.” Dustin smiles at Eddie who looks more concerned for his safety than he should. “Especially now that Y/n’s here.”
Eddie’s eyes shift to yours and you just shrug, just as confused about this whole situation.
“So, uh…” You clear your throat, “I feel like this is a stupid question but... what is actually going on?”
They share looks once they realise that you obviously had no clue of their previous conversations. Dustin goes to open his mouth when sirens start blaring in the distance and a chill runs down your spine.
“Shit.” Steve mutters, moving to the window in a flash.
“Tarp.” Robin orders and you watch as Eddie disappears into the boat, everyone else running to stare out of the boathouse with Steve.
You hear the sirens fade as they pass through. They weren’t here for Eddie.
“They’re gone.” Dustin calls back and Eddie flips the tarp open with a sigh, sitting up and finding your eyes once again.
“Where are they going?” Max wonders out loud and your eyes widen.
You’re in the middle of a road, one you recognise, situated just outside the trailer park. Your heart still hammering from your last vision, you turn around, searching.
“The road outside the trailer park.” You say out loud, staring at nothing.
“How do you know that?” Eddie shakes his head and Steve steps forward.
“She’s right, just trust me.” He says with full belief. “Okay, okay. We’ll head over, and Eddie-”
“I’ll stay here.” He waves out, leaning back against the boat and hugging cereal to his chest.
“Stay safe.” You say quietly and he sends you a small smile.
“Wanna catch up when you get back?” He raises an eyebrow, shrugging when you seem surprised, “I didn’t get the chance to run head first into you so figured we could get to that later.”
You laugh, “Absolutely.”
“Y/n!” Max calls out and you send another quick smile before running out of the boathouse.
Barely 4 hours in Hawkins and you were already in way over your head.

Headcanons for being a younger Avenger and mentoring Kamala
Kamala Khan x reader
warnings: avengers game spoilers, guns
a/n: so excited about this one; i made y/n just a bit older (and gn!) so that they’re in their mid-early teens during a-day! hope thats okie doke! reader has electrokinesis. this accidentally got really detailed
prompt: anonymous: “Hey there! Would you mind writing HCs for the Avengers Game about female reader being a young Avenger (around 17) and mentoring Kamala Khan?”
Tumblr media
you were just a kid yourself when you joined the avengers
and you were an inspiration to kids around the world
“does SHIELD think nothing of child labor laws?” -bruce
the avengers became your family
and seeing what you could do...they knew you could handle yourself
and then a-day happened
the day started off so perfect
and the kids went ballistic over seeing you
“y/h/n! look, it’s y/h/n!”
“can i get a picture?”
“hi, guys! of course you can!”
but there was one kid who stuck out among the rest
kamala khan
“you’re the one who wrote about the sewers, right? i freaking loved it! may i just say your art is amazing?”
“r-really?”
“oh, yeah! and the part where you had thor spin mjölnir to push water towards the sewer lizards so i could shock them? genius!”
she could not wait to tell abu about what you had just said
you obviously took a selfie with her and handed her a little pin with your own “icon” on it
but your world got turned upside down that day
the battle was one you’d never forget
and the fighting with your own teammates afterwards would haunt you for years to come
“what do you know, y/n?! you’re just a kid!” -tony
“oh yeah? im one of the only functioning members of this team!”
“everybody calm down. y/n makes a good point, but—” -nat
“thank you”
“...but there’s some stuff you should leave up to us. you really shouldn’t have to take on so much responsibility” -nat
“she’s right, y/n. this was our fault” -bruce
“are you kidding me?! i’m just as guilty as the rest of you, i’m an equal member of this team! for years we’ve dealt with this together, taken the blame together! what’s changed?”
“y/n...you saw what we did out there. that changed everything...” -bruce
you technically were an inhuman, just not terrigen-based
didnt matter to AIM, they took dr. pym for god’s sake
so you had to run, you were on your own for a while
a long while
you laid low for five years, most boring five years of your life
at least you still had your life, though. it just wasn’t what it used to be
but you got a message one day
“‘tiny dancer,’ huh? my moneys on either nat or tony. nah, tony would have chosen ‘rocket man.’”
you couldn’t be sure, maybe it was just a random shield agent...maybe hank pym? god, this was crazy
the message brought you to, uh, cap’s memorial statue
and there was a young girl arguing with a couple of boys...an inhuman!
you hopped in and saved her, she seemed scared
“hey, kid, you alright?”
“y/h/n? is it really you?”
she seemed vaguely familiar
“are you tiny dancer?”
“no, i thought you might be? they sent you here, too?”
there wasn’t much time to chat, AIM was onto you
you two unfortunately got split up for a minute, but you were practically raised by the notorious clint barton and natasha romanoff, and various other spies
yes, you planted a tracker on her
and met her at the bus stop!
“you found me?”
“that i did, kamala. see, i do remember you”
“that is so cool! i mean—not almost getting killed, or the guy with the big head...”
“what guy? you need to tell me everything”
the whole busride was a bit overwhelming. kamala explained the resistance clues, her powers, her undying admiration for the avengers, you name it
but it made you feel good to know that there were people out there that didn’t hate you
“so what was it like? being the teenage avenger?”
“uh, it was...it was really cool. i felt like i was one-of-a-kind. but sometimes people didn’t take me seriously, it was kind of aggravating”
“yeah, no one takes me seriously either...”
“you know, depending on how this all goes, i might be able to give you a few pointers”
“really?! that’d be great!”
once you got to utah...you saw the chimera
it brought back some bad memories, kamala could tell
“you okay?”
“me? yeah, im good. just thinking...okay, well, do you have a plan on how to get yourself across all of this?”
“actually, i do!”
it was kind of creepy in there, but when you laid your eyes on caps shield, you kind of broke
“do you hear something, what it that?”
“...hulk. kamala, you need to get out of here, i’ll catch up to you, i swear”
she didn’t leave in time, so she got to see the greener side of bruce. you chased him back and tried to get bruce back
meanwhile, kamala found AIM troops...oops
bruce cooled off and man was he doing rough
“y/n, is that really you?”
“yeah, its me. surprise. how long have you been the big guy?”
“too long...a few years”
“jesus, im sorry. i’ll be right back, though. some kid brought me here, i gotta go get her. you kinda scared her off”
she was passed out when you got to her
but bruce is a doctor, he’d figure it out
“i could give her a little shock to wake her up, you know?”
“oh, i know. just let her rest for a minute. she needs it”
“right...well im gonna take a look around, maybe go see what i left behind. i could power the place up, but we’re missing some parts to actually get this thing running. best i can do is lights and doors”
you turned the little things on and turns out did leave a decent amount of stuff in here
your first pair of pistols that nat gave you, the gigantic stein that thor gifted you for your 13th birthday, gadgets tony needed an “extra boost” for *bzzt*, a note from cap that just said “good luck, y/n, you’re going to do great!” you cant even remember what it was he was referring to. you just missed him
kamala walked in while you were shuffling around and cleaning the place up
“hey, dr. banner wanted me to come get you. is this your room?”
“that it is, and it’s a huge mess. this is literally all my belongings ever”
bruce had his plan and you just went along, helping kamala out as you go
“baby steps, kam, don’t want you to pass out. but don’t worry, happens to the best of us” -you
“really? you pass out too?” -kamala
“oh yeah, for sure. tell her bruce, remember that time we had thor overcharge me to literally make me an EMP? and tony was busy listening to music so he wouldn’t get out of the blast radius and his armor shut down? so he was out of commission and i had just collapsed from it all? good times”
“y/n, we thought you died” -bruce
this hc is so long omg — anyways you guys ended up finding tony and it was sort of entertaining but he kinda punched bruce and then hugged you
“you got so big”
“shut up, tony”
you kinda harbored some bad feelings since none of the avengers did anything to help you once they started rounding up inhumans (but you still missed them)
getting attacked again
“okay, kamala, remember what i said about baby steps. dont overdo it. i trust you with this!”
“thank you, y/n! uh—oh my god!”
aaaanyways you went to the ant hill to see hank and pick up some supplies, boy was it great to see some familiar faces, then back the the chimera you went to fix it all up
“can you hold that right there for me, kamala? thanks. i think that just about does it. now i have a surprise for you...your own room!”
you helped kamala get it nice and tidy while talking about each other’s lives, she really did remind you of yourself when you became an avenger. excited, scared, underestimated, all of that. and she begged you to share some mission stories, so you obviously did
“you know, if you stick around for a while, you’re gonna have some cool stories, too. maybe even a kickass costume.”
“oh! a costume, ive got that sorta covered. check it out. a burkini, muslim women wear it for swimming and stuff. my mom got it for me”
“love it. soon we’ll find you a fitting name and update the suit, but seriously, this was the perfect way to go. you look great”
“you think so? i don’t know if i feel that cool. maybe i should try something else?”
“if that’s how you feel, you don’t have to stick to it. you can experiment all you want! but i really think you did awesome on this. come on, pose with me! and hey, i like your pins.”
at this point, you’d do anything for kamala, she reminded you so much of yourself. you would have killed for a mentor your age back in the day.
natasha was in fact tiny dancer...called it
“oh, god, y/n. you’re all grown up...im sorry we left you alone. but if it makes you feel better, i always kept an eye on you”
“well, i kind of took on a protégé...she’s like your grand-protégé. kam, c’mere”
after thor finally came back, everyone started fighting again and ditched, it felt so familiar. but you couldn’t leave kamala behind, you swore to yourself that you couldn’t do that.
she was so good for this team
MODOK was defeated (by kamala herself) but there was so much left to do, tons of threats to extinguish, training to accomplish
“y/n, tony won’t turn his dad rock off! he overrode the speakers in my room”
“oh, it’s on. get chastity’s fabric dye and bleach pens. we’re gonna start some trouble”
she gave you a high five one time and nearly broke your arm
sending each other tiny hand memes
Tumblr media
“hey, ms. m, how’re your parents? doing okay without their favorite super-daughter?”
“my abu doesn’t stop texting me actually, says my family is super proud of me. it’s a nice change of pace”
you take her on covert missions for field training, it was Educational(tm)
*elevator music playing* “so...what do you want for dinner? i was thinking we could ask thor to barbecue”
sleepovers in her room that just turn into her showing you her superhero merch, listening to music, prank lists, sneaking off to the HARM room for hand-to-hand combat training and power experiments, thinking up new costume designs
“tip: you always need backup suits, you never know what you’re gonna run into out there. one time tony pushed me into a tower of paint cans and they spilled all over me. steve yelled at him for two hours afterwards. worst mission ever, except steve said ‘motherfucker’ and i have never recovered from the emotions of that day”
“wow, i wish i could have been there for that”
“don’t worry, kami, you’ll see some crazy ‘team bonding’ along the way”
she geeks out about captain marvel sometimes
“hey, i’ve got a book carol gave to me about ‘teens taking responsibility.’ you wanna read it?”
“is it any good?”
“i don’t know, i only read the first two pages”
you ended up having a true heart-to-heart with her after one mission when she made a mistake that nearly cost you guys the mission. you told her that not every mission is going to go perfect, each avenger had slipped up in the field, and she had just started, shes not going to be perfect
“i am literally always here if you need anything. i know what it feels like to be a teenager among legends, but trust me, you’ve made it this far and you’ve proven how much of a badass you are. i know you can take anything that gets thrown at you”
kamala said she makes vegan nachos and yeah she makes vegan nachos
you guys have to hide from the rest of the team when she makes them bc they eat ALL OF THEM
gaff (the SHEILD vendor) has you test his gear, you recommend gear to kamala
you were so excited to guide kamala on her journey of heroism

This was great. Just great. Absolutely fantastic. Y/n Henderson mumbled complaints disguised as kinder words, obviously sarcasm, under her breath. She was left in charge for the weekend, every other adult who would have been in the house was going away for the weekend. No babysitters were necessary when they had an older child.
Unluckily for her, she had already planned a date with her boyfriend, Steve Harrington, and it was supposed to last the weekend. They were going to go on some sleep over kind of shit somewhere. But now? Now that was unable to happen.
Just as she thought it couldn’t get any worse, her brother decided to invite his friends over for the weekend. She was close to a few of them, however she didn’t know of the girls in said group. She knew Steve was the mama-bear of course, but she still was unaware of the details from their adventures that Steve chose not to include.
She was there for some of the ass-kicking, but Eleven? Nope, she thought El was just there as a one time thing. So when three boys and two girls showed up at her house, she was beyond confused.
“Umm... Dustin, I thought you said it’d just be your group- not a group of boys with two girls.”
Rushed footsteps sounded as Dustin tripped over things, and stopped at the door. He hunched over with breathy gasps, holding up a finger to sign that he needed a second before coming back up and raising his brows at his sister. “Did you forget about Eleven and Max?”
“Max? Who’s Max?” She turned back to the group of teens and almost immediately spotted the one child she had never seen before. “You, ginger, you’re Max?” The girl nodded and hugged her arms closer to her body. “Oh. Sorry, I haven’t been outside yet, I was supposed to be on my date by now, but this loser needed a babysitter. So. Yeah. Oh and, I’m sorry for keeping you guys out in the cold.”
The group smiled when she moved aside, Lucas and Mike rushing to get in, but their smiles turned upside down once Y/n moved in front of them again. She had a dark look on her face. “Boys. Ladies first.”
All three boys turned to the shivering girls, faces falling with a slight twinge of guilt. They moved backwards, allowing the cold pair to come inside first. The girls smiled up at Y/n and rushed inside, thanking her.
Before the boys could finally enter the house, a car pulled up. They knew exactly who’s car it was. The engine of the car turned off and Steve stepped out of it, gaining the kids’ attention as they turned to the automobile and guest.
Y/n smiled in a form of awe, disappointed emotions melting away, and stepped out of the house. She sped walk to him, allowing him to push her lightly against his car and press a kiss to his lips.
The kids groaned in disgust, causing Y/n and Steve to chuckle and separate, walking into the house side by side, hand in hand. Y/n called everyone into the living room.
“Alright. So normally, I wouldn’t mind watching you all, however, I was supposed to go with Steve and a date for the weekend. Meaning if I’m a bit grouchy or mean, it’s because of that. Steve and I will be in my room. If you need me...” Her eyes scanned the teens, “don’t.”
There was no time given to the kids to think or respond; Steve had already been pulled to Y/n’s room in a flash.
Feeling guilty for preventing their date, Dustin was the first of the party to speak up. “I have an idea and I need assistance.”
Tumblr media
Steve moved his arm and rested his cheek on it, allowing him to admire his lover. One of his hands creeped up her arm, to her head, and moved a strand of her hair out of her face. The action made her flick her eyes up to his face and blush.
He kissed her softly, smiling as they parted. Their eyes studied each other. It was the most they could do while being forced to care for her brother and his friends.
Sadly, their cute and romantic moment was ruined by, speak of the devil, two of the six teens running into the room with looks of worry and panic. “Mike? Max? What’s going on?” Y/n and Steve sat up as quick as they could.
“E-Eleven!” Max managed to breathe out. “She’s gone!”
Y/n jumped up quickly. “Where was she last? Did you check the entire house?”
“Wait, you didn’t Let us finish... Dustin’s gone too.”
That was it for the young adults. They rushed out the door, ran around the house as well as outside of it for an extra check, and suited up. Minus the panic emitting from everyone in the room, it was actually quite entertaining to watch. After Y/n helped Max, and Steve helped Mike, Will, and Lucas, they set out in Steve’s car.
There was no stopping them. No one messed with Y/n’s baby brother or his friends except for her, and she made sure that was a rule everyone knew. Anytime Steve slowed just the tiniest bit, she made a huffing sound. The only time they stopped, was, well, about right now actually.
The car screeched to a stop when Lucas yelled, “I see them! Hurry, stop the car!!”
Y/n didn’t hesitate. Right before the engine stopped, her hand went to her buckle and it flew off, the door opening just as the car shut off. She looked over to Lucas, who pointed her in the direction he allegedly saw them go. Her feet had a mind of their own, carrying her faster than she’d ever ran before.
She stopped in an abandoned building, Steve and the four kids following behind. Silently, she gave directions, pointing to one person then a direction. There was a chance her brother was in danger, and she wasn’t going to make it any worse.
The ear-piercing girlish scream, that really did honestly sound like Dustin’s, got Y/n’s heart and feet racing. She followed the sound, calmness fading once the smell of smoke began to fill her nostrils. Steve and Y/n exchanged terrified glances, their feet quickening.
The screaming continued, followed by coughing and wheezing. It was definitely Dustin. Y/n approached the opening of another room, shoving past it and finding her brother, suspended in midair with ropes and a hook.
“Shit! Dustin, stay calm, we’re gonna get you out of there!” Steve looked around, trying to process everything and hunt for an object that could help all at the same time.
“Dustin? Bud?” Y/n began coughing as well, “Hang on, alright? I need you to hang on for me.” She too searched, unable to find anything.
His wheezing was intensifying. It wasn’t long before he could handle it, and the jig was up. “Small fire! I said a small fire! This is not small!”
“Oops.” The brunette girl walked from behind another door, using her powers to lower Dustin to safety.
“Yeah oops. You could’ve gotten him killed-” Y/n put her hand on Steve’s shoulder, calming him without words. “My point is, that was nowhere near safe.”
“We know.” Max turned, beginning to walk away. “It was Dustin’s idea in the first place.” She smiled, the footsteps of Eleven and the other boys, apart from Dustin, rushing behind her as Y/n turned to her brother, eyes widening.
Tumblr media
“Fuck.” They cursed in unison, frowning at the state of the Henderson’s home. Had they not been planning a way to make it up to Y/n, they would’ve prevented the mess the other half of the party made of the living room.
Their grandma would be back anytime soon, and the mess would take hours to clean. “If any of you have any good ideas, speak them now and make sure they’re actually good.”
“I have a solution.”
She turned towards her brother, a sigh of relief leaving her mouth before she turned back around, “Oh thank goodness-”
“It involves fire.”
Her head whipped around so fast, Dustin thought she’d broken it. “Absolutely not.”
“Well you kids sure had quite an adventure!” The door clicked shut as their grandma, just as they feared, entered.

“God, Dustin, if you don’t get out of that bathroom in the next five minutes I’m literally going to kill you!” You screamed, slamming your fists on the wooden door for the thousandth time this morning.
“Relax, (Y/N), I’m almost finished! God you’re so annoying!” Your little brother, Dustin, yelled back. You groaned loudly and stomped back to your room, desperately needing to finish blow drying your hair before the party.
You heard the bathroom door open, and Dustin walking over to your room. He popped in your doorway with a devilish grin, his hair slicked back with hairspray.
“Bathrooms all yours, sis. Make sure you wear that one red lipstick, I think Steve will love it,” Dustin said, winking at you.
“Ew, Dustin. How many times do I have to tell you, me and Steve will never happen. Get over it. We’ve hated each other since middle school, and that’s not gonna change!” You stood up quickly and stomped to the bathroom, Dustin following behind you, frowning.
“C’mon! Give him a chance, (Y/N)! He’s a good kid!” Dustin has been pleading for you and Steve to date since the first time they fought Dart together. Dustin saw Steve as an older brother, and if you two ended up together, Steve would literally be his brother (in law). That was Dustin’s dream- and he reminded you of it every day.
“Jesus, you are so annoying. Why don’t you just shut up and make sure you have Wills’s gift ready!” You slammed the bathroom door in Dustin’s face, making sure to lock it so he wouldn’t barge in. You took a few deep breaths, trying to ground yourself from screaming out of frustration. You plugged your hair dryer on and began styling your hair, using the noise of the machine to drown out your frustration.
You had never really liked Steve, but it became especially frustrating when he decided to informally adopt your brother. Dustin thought the kid was a god, and that did not help Steve’s already overbearing confidence. You understood that Dustin only had you and his mom, and he needed a male role model, but you wished it was anyone but him.
You and Steve had a long- and very negative- history. You guys used to be friends, way back in the day, when life was simple. But that all came to a firey halt in seventh grade. You had a huge crush on one of Steve’s friends, Tommy, and you made the mistake of spilling that to Steve.
Steve took it upon himself to tell Tommy, and they apparently though it was hilarious. You hadn’t really developed yet, so you weren’t as ‘pretty’ as the other girls in your grade. Even though, let’s face it, it was seventh grade, and no one was attractive. But your self confidence was especially low, so when Steve apparently dared Tommy to fake ask you out in front of the whole school- you were crushed. And rightfully, you have never forgiven him.
It haunted you all the way up until you graduated. People never seemed to forget, and every one in a while you’d get reminded of the most humiliating day of your life. And it was even worse having to see the man who orchestrated the event around all the time. You never told Dustin about it, because you knew he looked up to Steve, and you didn’t want to take that away from him. But it was hard when you constantly had to hear how amazing he was.
You were feeling yourself get worked up just thinking about it, your breathing get quicker and your cheeks getting hot with stress. You tried to shake the memory out of your head, tousling your curls as you moved. You put a light lipstick on, double checked yourself in the mirror, and headed out of the bathroom. Dustin was waiting eagerly with a poorly wrapped gift in his bedroom.
“I got Will this super cool new edition of D&D! He’s gonna freak,” Dustin said excitedly, hoping up from his bed and following you down the stairs.
“Super happy for you nerds,” you groaned, grabbing your purse from the kitchen counter and rustling around for you keys.
“You’re gonna regret being so mean to me one day when I’m super rich.” Dustin raised his eyebrows at you, and you just rolled your eyes, walking out the front door to your car.
“You’re gonna regret being such a brat when I sacrifice you to the demodogs,” you said, laughing as you unlocked your car.
“That is not funny! Don’t joke about that!”
“Oh, relax Dustin, don’t go crying to Steve about it.” You hopped into your drivers seat and waited for Dustin to get buckled up before starting your car. He was excitedly fiddling with the bow on his gift, hoping that no one else got Will the same gift.
“I still don’t understand why you hate Steve so much, anyways,” Dustin mumbled, leaning his head against your car window.
“I’ve told you a million times, we just have a history, okay. It’s none of your business,” you snapped, raising your voice at him. “Besides, I’m going on another date with Andrew this weekend.”
“Ughhhhh,” Dustin groaned, rolling his eyes obnoxiously. “That guy is seriously the worst, (Y/N). He is super boring, his hair sucks, and he doesn’t know anything about the upside down. You can’t actually date a guy who doesn’t know what you’ve seen!”
“I don’t care about his hair, Dustin! That’s not a priority to me!”
“Well, it should be, okay? I don’t want my nieces and nephews having dweeb hair.”
“Don’t talk about my future children like that, idiot.” You punched Dustin lightly on the shoulder, and he screamed loudly, clearly faking pain to try and get on your nerves. You just pushed him again, and continued driving to Wills. The rest of your drive was spent listening to Dustin tell you about the new rules of his game, and you trying your best to pretend you were interested.
When you finally got to Wills, you recognized Steve’s car and instantly felt nauseous. You really did not want to spend time with him, but you also knew Joyce was excited to see you today, and you couldn’t let her down. You parked your car grudgingly and took a few moments before getting out. Dustin had already ran inside to his friends, showing off his wrapped gift.
You walked into the house quietly, not wanting to distract anyone from the birthday celebrations. Joyce ran to you, excitement on her face, and greeted you with a warm hug.
“(Y/N)! It’s so good to see you, you look beautiful,” she said, cupping your face in her hands and looking at your outfit.
“Sorry we’re late, Dustin is a brat and takes forever to get ready,” you responded, rolling your eyes and giggling a bit.
“There’s drinks and food in the kitchen, help yourself. Everyone else is scattered around somewhere, I’m sure you’ll find them!” She kissed you on the cheek before walking away and finding her son. You walked over to the kitchen, hoping to get a few seconds of peace and quiet. To your disdain, you were greeted by Steve, standing alone and pouring himself a drink.
“Hey, sorry if I’m in your way,” he mumbled, moving from the counter and spilling his drink on himself a bit.
“It’s fine, I’m just gonna grab a beer and go say hi to the kids, anyways,” you responded, pulling a cold bottle out of a cooler. You tried to twist it, but couldn’t manage to get the cap off.
“Can I help?” Steve asked, reaching out to take the bottle from you. You handed it to him without saying a word, and he took the bottle to his lips and bit the cap off with his teeth.
“Jesus,” you cringed, the thought of that against your teeth making you shiver.
“Little party trick I learned back in high school, I forgot some people get freaked out by it,” he laughed, handing you the bottle. You took a big swig, realizing Steve’s lips had just touched the mouth of your bottle. The thought made you a little uncomfortable, thinking about his lips on yours. He did have beautiful lips though, soft and pillowy. And he was always wearing this vanilla chapstick- you figured he kisses would taste like a milkshake.
Why the fuck are you thinking about kissing Steve? God, Dustin has really got in your head. You thanked Steve and walked out of the kitchen before your brain could dive any deeper into those thoughts.
The living room was packed with all the kids, eating chips and drinking soda. They were laughing over something Mike had said, and you smiled at Dustin, seeing him so happy made you warm inside. He had been through a lot- they all had- but seeing them all here, laughing and playing like kids are supposed to do, it made you feel good.
“(Y/N)!” Max yelled, running up to you and giving you a tight hug. El quickly followed her and hugged you as well.
“You two look absolutely gorgeous- new outfits?” You asked, tugging a bit on Max’s new shirt.
“We went to the mall this weekend!” El responded, putting her hands on her hips and posing for you. You laughed at the two girls, happy to see them enjoying things. You had felt a need to protect them, especially, knowing how hard it is for girls at that age.
“Could you teach me how to curl my hair later?” El asked, running her hand through your soft curls.
“Of course, lady. I think you’d look gorgeous!”
Mike had yelled at them to come see something, and they said they’d talk to you later, before running off back to their friends. Nancy and Jonathan were hanging on the couch, watching Will and the kids having the times of their life. You sat down next to her, making small talk with them for a few minutes before Joyce walked into the room.
“Alright, I have to run up to town and pick up the pizzas. Are you guys all good here for a bit?” She asked, keys in hand. She looked at you and Nancy, a look that said ‘If anything happens, I’m blaming you two, since you’re clearly the most responsible ones here besides myself.’
“We’ll take care of them, Joyce. No worries,” you responded, smiling kindly at her, letting her know you wouldn’t let anything happen to anyone. She smiled back, and headed out the door.
“Alright, now the real party starts!” Lucas yelled the minute Joyce closed and locked the door.
“Woah- woah. What are you talking about?” Nancy asked, standing up quickly and putting on her mom voice.
“Oh relax, Nance. Just a friendly game of truth or dare,” Mike responded, raising his eyebrows at the group around you. “And you all have to play, too,” he said, looking at you, Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve, who was now standing behind you.
“No, no. We’re just here to supervise, we’re not playing any games,” Jonathan responded in a stern voice.
“Please!! It’s my birthday!” Will whined, making a fake pouty face to try and get you all to feel bad for him.
“What’s the harm, right? They’re just kids,” Nancy said, putting a hand on Jonathan’s shoulder.
“You shouldn’t trust any of them- they’re evil geniuses. One of them even has super powers!” Steve said jokingly, eyeing El and making her laugh.
“Fine, we’ll play for a bit, but everything stays PG, got it?” You said, crossing your arms and the group and raising your eyebrows. They all nodded in agreement, smiling at each other, happy that you all agreed.
“Okay, first things first, everyone write your name down on a piece of paper and put it in this bowl,” Lucas instructed, pointing to a small blue bowl that was sitting in the center of the coffee table. You all did as you were told, passing around a pen and notepad until every name had been put in the bowl.
“Then, we’ll go around in a circle and pick a name, so it’s not biased. The person you picked gets to give you your truth or dare,” Mike quickly said, shaking the blue bowl around with his hand.
“Sounds easy enough,” Jonathan answered, sitting forward in the couch.
“And once everyone goes, you put the names back in the bowl and start again!”
Everyone nodded in understanding, the older group just wanting to get this over with. You sighed loudly, waiting for someone to start. Steve came and sat next to you, his knee slightly touching yours and you all squished on the couch together. You felt a heat growing as his skin touched yours, wanting so desperately to move away, but feeling physically unable too.
“I’ll start!” Max said, happily, pulling a name out of the hat. She giggled a little when she read the name of the piece of paper. “Lucas!”
“Alright, truth or dare?” He asked, jokingly making faces at her and making her laugh.
“Dare, obviously!”
“Alright...” he said, thinking intently on what to do. He looked over to the kitchen and smiled devilishly. “I dare you to eat a spoonful of mustard!”
“You know I hate mustard, you ass hole!” She crossed her arms and pouted at him.
“Exactly. And you have to do it- a dares a dare!” Lucas looked around for approval from the other guys, who were all nodding in agreement.
“Fine!” She responded angrily, standing up and walking towards the kitchen. She came back a few moments later with a spoon piled high with mustard. The though even made you a little queasy. She looked at Lucas with a smile, before shoving the spoon in her mouth and swallowing.
“Ewwww!” The kids all said in unison, looking away from her as she did it.
“Oh god, it’s so gross. Someone get me water!” She yelled, reaching out around her for a drink. Steve handed her his water bottle, and she chugged it with a disgusted look her face. The kids were laughing in hysterics as she struggled to get the taste out of her mouth.
“You guys are evil!” Steve said, laughing as he shook his head in shock.
“God, I am so going to get you back for that, Sinclair,” Max said, her face still scrunched in disgust.
“Steve, your turn,” Mike said, pushing the bowl towards him.
“Oh god. I am not letting any of you little shits make me eat anything gross, got it? I’m an adult!” He said, pulling a piece of paper out of the bowl. He looked at it and groaned, rolling his eyes. “I’m in for it now. I picked Dustin.”
“Hell yeah!” Dustin said, excitement glowing on his face.
“I’m picking truth, because I especially do not trust you, Henderson!” Steve laughed, sitting back and crossing his arms.
“Oh come on! Don’t be a pussy! It’s Wills birthday, have a little fun for his sake. Pick dare!” Dustin looked at Steve seriously, widening his eyes at him. Steve sighed and shook his head.
“Alright, fine. But be real careful with what you say next, kid,” he laughed.
“Easy. Seven minutes in heaven- you and my sister.”
You looked at Dustin, shock and embarrassment running through you. You felt your cheeks heat up, you knew you were turning a bright red. You looked over at Steve, who was also clearly uncomfortable.
“Absolutely not, we said to keep it PG!” You yelled, crossing your arms and shaking your head at Dustin.
“Yeah, for us! You guys are adults! Don’t act like you haven’t kissed before!” Dustin said back.
“I am not kissing Steve!” You yelled, floored with embarrassment.
“A dare is a dare!” El said, shrugging at you. You looked at her, disappointed that she wasn’t on your side.
“Cmon, lets just do it to please the kids. It doesn’t have to mean anything,” Steve whispered to you, the scent of vanilla chapstick flooding your senses.
“Fine. Dustin, I hope you know I am going to murder you later,” you said, standing up and walking down the hall to the bathroom. Steve followed suit, and you heard the kids giggling as the two of you went off to ‘Heaven’.
Steve came into the bathroom behind you, shutting the door as he did so. You wouldn’t look at him at first, too embarrassed to make eye contact. Finally, he put a hand on your shoulder, causing you to jump a little in shock.
“Sorry, just wanted to make sure you’re okay, you seem upset,” Steve said, quickly removing his hand.
“I am. This is ridiculous. I can’t go a day without Dustin shoving the idea of me and you together down my throat,” you muttered, sitting down on the sink counter and crossing your arms.
“I’m sorry. I know it sucks, but he’s just a kid. He doesn’t mean anything by it,” Steve said, pushing his hair out of his face.
“I know, but he doesn’t know about everything that happened between us, and I don’t want him to hate you so I won’t tell him.”
“What happened between us?” Steve asked, laughing a bit awkwardly. He looked genuinely confused, which offended you, because that meant he didn’t remember what he did.
“Are you serious? Seventh grade, you telling Tommy to ask me out in lunch as a joke? That ruined my whole life, Steve.”
“Woah, woah, woah. I didn’t tell Tommy to do anything like that. I didn’t even know about it until it was happening!” Steve responded, clearly upset about the accusations you were making.
“What do you mean Steve? Don’t lie to me! Mark told me it was all your idea!” You pouted at Steve, confused and upset, feeling yourself tearing up as you were recalling the event.
“Mark is a lying sack of shit, (Y/N)! He told you that to save his own ass! It was all him and Tommy- I swear to God!” Steve was defensive, pacing up and down the bathroom in frustration.
“But I told you about having a crush on Tommy, not Mark!”
“Okay, that part was my fault. The thing is, I sort of had a crush on you back then, and Mark knew... but when you told me about Tommy, I got upset and told Mark... but I swear, if I knew he was planning that I would’ve never told him! I didn’t mean to hurt you!” Steve was upset, his face red and his eyes watery as he pleaded for you to believe him.
“You really had a crush on me?” You asked, completely blown away by the fact that he even noticed you back then.
“I kind of always have... I always tried to talk to you in high school but you never gave me the time of day. Now I know why,” he said, sounding defeated and broken. He sat down on the edge of the bathtub, shaking his head and staring at the floor.
“Honestly, Steve... I had no idea. I thought... all this time...” you looked at the man sitting in front of you, falling apart in front of you. You sat down next to him, putting a hand on his, trying to comfort him.
“I’m so sorry... I never meant to hurt you... you didn’t deserve that...” Steve mumbled.
“I’m sorry too, I just believed him and I never let you explain... I’ve been such an ass to you for years for something that wasn’t even your fault!” You started laughing, an uncontrollable giggle that was just rolling through you. For years you had pushed away a sweet, funny, and handsome guy for a lie someone told you when you were 13. Unbelievable.
“Why are you laughing?” Steve said, also starting to laugh himself.
“Because, I just can’t believe this. And it took a dumb game of truth or dare to find this out... I’m just shocked, I guess.” You stood up, wiping tears from your face as you continued to giggle. Steve stood up too, quickly wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you towards him. He kissed you, the kind of kiss that he had been waiting for all his life. A kiss that you felt everywhere in your body, his lips moving intricately with yours. And you were right, kissing him was like tasting a vanilla milkshake.
Steve’s hands were locked on your waist, pulling your body closer to him every second. You had wrapped your hands in his hair, the soft locks melting through your fingers. He finally let go of your waist and his hands trailed down to your butt, squeezing slightly. You giggled a bit at his touch, and felt him smile through your kisses.
“Times up- OH SHIT!” You heard your brother yell after he swung open the door. You and Steve quickly jumped away from each other and stared at Dustin. “IT WORKED!” He yelled, running down the hallway to the living room.
“Dustin!” You yelled, running after him. Steve followed close behind.
“They kissed! It worked!” He exclaimed to the group, a proud toothless smile plastered across his young face.
“Finally!” Max said, shaking her head and laughing.
“Was this.... did you guys do all of this just to get me and Steve to talk?” You asked in shock.
“You little shits are unbelievable!” Steve yelled, hands on his hips.
“It worked though... didn’t it? You like her, she likes you... I was right!” Dustin was ecstatic, and you felt yourself blushing again as you looked over to Steve.
“I mean... I guess I do kinda like you...” You avoided his eyes, but he took your hand in his and smiled at you.
“Yeah, I kinda like you, too.” He squeezed your hand tightly, his smile making you melt, thinking about kissing him again.
“But you’re still dead, Dusty, you understand that? I’m going to kill you for real this time!” You laughed, ruffling Dustin’s hair and shaking your head at the kids. As much as Dustin annoyed you, he really did want you to be happy. And he was right on this one.

"Suzie, this is Dustin, do you copy?"
"Okay!" Lucas stands up, looking at Dustin with wide eye's, "Ive had enough,"
"Enough of what?" Dustin asks, sitting back on his knees,
"Of whatever this is!" Lucas gestures to the radio in Dustins hands, "I seriously doubt Suzie is even real,"
"She is real!" Dustin argues, "Maybe she's just busy or lost connection,"
"Right, okay," Lucas scoffs, pulling Max up, "We're going home,"
"Fine," Dustin snarls, looking down at the radio, "Suzie? Do you copy?"
You send a glance to Will, who inhales, standing up,
"Not you too," Dustin whines, looking up at his friend,
"It's-Its late," Will checks his watch, then looks up at the pitch black sky, "Sorry. When she does answer back I'll be sure to come,"
"Your loss," Dustin calls, narrowing his eyes at the older girl next to him, "What? You dont believe me either?"

Your eyes leave the radio to look at Dustin, his eyes meeting yours,
"This is in Russain," You murmur, holding the radio to your ear, "Whats it doing on our radio?"
"A secret code," Dustin snaps his fingers, "I bet you. Steve can help,"
"Steve cant do jack shit," You spurt, rolling your eye's,

"Yeah. Bet you had fun explaining that to mom," You roll your eye's, standing up and grabbing his arm, "Come on, we'll go by Scoops Ahoy tomorrow and see if he cant help figure out this secret code as you call it,"
"Im a little scared to be in the same room as you and Steve again," Dustin whimpers, laughing out into the night sky when you shove his shoulder and toss his the radio,

I Swear to Drunk, I’m Not God
Tumblr media
Pairing: Steve Rogers x fem!Reader
Word Count: 1.4k
Warnings: Like, one bad word and a very cute, drunk reader
Feedback is always welcome (: x
Steve walked aimlessly through the compound. Everyone had gone to bed already, but he couldn't bring himself to turn in yet. His mind kept racing. You were on a date with one of the interns Stark hired for the summer. You told everyone you'd be back at the compound by ten. It was now eleven, and it was driving him crazy. He didn't know why you wanted to go on the date in the first place. Interns never stuck around for long. Why would you want to get committed to someone who would leave? It was ridiculous.
He checked his phone once more, hoping he heard from you. When he saw that you hadn't texted, he sighed and decided to go to bed. Nat suggested earlier that you'd be out all night if you enjoyed your date. The thought of you sleeping with someone made his stomach turn. He stayed up hoping to see you and prove Nat wrong but staring at the clock and watching time pass by made him feel a lot worse.
           "Shit!"
Steve stopped in his tracks when he heard your voice. You stood there in front of his bedroom door, cradling a broken heel in your hands. You stumbled trying to take your other heel off, and he ran over to catch you before you fell.
"Oops!" You slurred as you steadied yourself in his arms. "I'm sorry, I wasn't watchin' where I was going."
           "You're drunk," Steve laughed.
"Ten shots of tequila wasted, actually!"
His hands gently gripped onto your waist, keeping you from tumbling to the ground again. He had to keep himself from laughing when you began poking at his chest and making robot sounds. This was only the second time he'd ever seen you drunk. The first was during Stark's Boozy Christmas party. You helped Thor clear an entire bottle of his Asgardian liquor. By the end of the night, you had Nat tuck you into the bath tub and fell asleep.
It wasn't that you tried to avoid getting drunk. You had a higher tolerance than most people, which surprised everyone. You seemed like the type to get tipsy off one beer, but you could drink most of the men under the table. Your high tolerance and love for drinking games is how you bonded with Sam when you first met him. You two were best friends now.
"Why don't we get you back to your room?" Steve suggested when you finally finished poking at his "buttons."
You threw your head back and whined loudly. "I don't want to! My room is so far!"
"Okay, you can sleep in my bed. I'm not that tired anyways."
You held your arms up in the air and bounced on your toes. He knew exactly what you wanted. You wanted to be carried to bed because you were too lazy to walk. Apparently, you resorted to being a five-year-old when you were drunk, but he couldn't deny that you looked adorable.
He scooped you into his arms and smiled when you rested your head in the crook of his neck. You smelled faintly of cotton candy, and it took everything in him not to smell your hair. It would look creepy.
"I'm guessing the date didn't go as planned?"
You sighed dramatically. "He talked about monster trucks the whole time. He even made sound effects."
           "Sound effects?"
You nodded. Your date wanted you to get the full effect of what it was like when the monster trucks crashed into each other. People stared. He jumped up and pretended to cheer for the non-existent trucks that were in front of you. You downed two more shots of tequila. It was a great date if the goal of the date was to get drunk and forget about it. The upside to it all was that he paid for everything.
Steve smirked at this bit of information. He never got the courage to ask you out, so it drove him crazy every time you accepted a date with someone else. He'd watch you leave and feel his heart clench. He'd see you return with a huge smile on your face and his stomach turned into a knot. Every date could be a chance for you to find your soulmate. To hear that this date went south made him feel a little bit better.
He'd never admit that out loud, though.
He placed you on the edge of his bed and went to grab a t-shirt from his dresser. You looked around his room in awe. You never stepped inside his room before. Usually, you both would hang out in the gym or in the common area. Sometimes you'd go out to grab food, but his room? It always felt off limits. It was his personal space, and he was letting you invade it. Something about that made your heart swell with happiness.
"Arms up, please." Steve had to use his Captain America voice to get you to listen to him.
You giggled at how serious he seemed and lifted your arms up. He helped you shimmy out of your dress, which was a lot more difficult than he thought it would be. You kept squirming and laughing about your arm getting stuck in the hole more than once. When he finally got your dress off, you threw yourself back onto his bed and refused to let him put the shirt on you.
His entire face grew red at the sight of you sprawled out in nothing but your bra and underwear. He kept his eyes trained on the ceiling and held the shirt out for you to grab. He begged you to put it on. He even offered you fifty dollars to put the shirt on, but you refused. You kept going on and on about how free you felt without clothes. He silently hoped you wouldn't take anything else off to feel freer.
And if anyone walked in right now, he'd have no way to explain his way out of this.
"Can you please put the shirt on? I promise you will still be free with the shirt on."
           "Why don't you love me?"
"W-what?" Steve coughed to cover up his surprise. "I don't understand your question."
You sighed and moved back towards the edge of the bed. He didn't want to be rude and look at you while you were half-naked, but he couldn't ignore the heartbroken look you were giving him.
"I've been on dates with a taxidermist, a mime, and a monster truck enthusiast! I want to give up because I know my love life will probably go down hill from here, but I don't want to wait around for you to love me! I want to find someone who makes me feel the way you make me feel." You sniffled. "But I haven't yet, and I don't think I will."
           "Y/N, I-"
You threw your hands up into the air. "And you won't even make a move on me when I'm at my hottest! This is the best set of lingerie I have!"
Steve knelt in front of the bed and took your hands in his. He brought your knuckles to his lips and placed a gentle kiss on them. Your face heated up at the sudden contact. This was the first time he ever showed affection towards you. At least, it was the first time you noticed. He always tried to make subtle moves, but you were always oblivious to them.
"You are far too drunk to consent to anything right now, and that's why I haven't made a move, doll," he whispered. "How 'bout you put on my shirt, and I will give you the best cuddle of your life tonight. Then, tomorrow, we can talk about this."
You bit your lip and nodded. The odds of you remembering this moment in the morning were very slim, but you'd be able to piece it all together when you woke up next to the man you've always wanted. You knew you would die of embarrassment when you were sober. He'd also probably never let you live it down. But right now? This was the best moment of your life.

Five possible reasons for That Thing Steve Does With His Mouth in 9.16
Or: Essentially a tiny five times fic, disguised as a Tumblr post. (For reference about That Thing, see these gifs by @peggyswilliams, this clip from @racoonsa or this clip from @h50europe. It boils down to blurry background footage of something that looks suspiciously like Alex/Steve biting or licking Scott/Danny’s hand/finger/wrist.)
---
1.
There’s a smudge of tomato sauce on Danny’s little finger. Steve is trying not to let it distract him, but it’s hard, because it’s Danny, and food, and that hand that keeps moving. Danny is warm and talkative and laughing a lot, and when he suddenly touches Steve’s arm, just, out of nowhere, Steve feels like an electric shock hits him, but in a good way.
It might fry his brain a little, though.
Case in point: he seizes his chance to do his own out of nowhere thing by bending forward – he’s aware he shouldn’t be doing this while he does it, but there are magnets involved now too, apparently, because he’s powerless to stop it. Before he has much time to think about his actions either way or freak out too much, he closes his mouth around Danny’s little finger. It’s over quick, with a single swipe of his tongue and a light scrape of his teeth as he pulls back, but it’s undeniably a thing he has done, now.
Danny is a tiny bit wide-eyed and starts waving his hand around like he’s trying to air dry Steve’s spit, but he still looks warm and like he’s been laughing a lot. A little warmer than before, maybe – hot, if Steve lets himself hope. “What the hell was that?”
“You had something there,” Steve says, which isn’t even a lie.
“Hmm.” Danny shoots him a last speculative look, before he’s drawn back into the conversation.
It’s way less fuss or yelling than the situation deserves, that much Steve is pretty sure of. The hope in his chest is in full bloom, suddenly.
*
2.
They’ve been having a discussion that Steve has stopped following a while ago when Noelani says, to Danny, “Actually, licking is a vital part in the courtship ritual of many species, from the vinegar fly to deer to giraffes.”
“Giraffes, huh?” Danny asks. He nudges Steve’s arm, as if to say, hear that, that’s you, time to pay attention. “I like giraffes. Giraffes are my favorite.”
Steve looks at Danny’s hand, which has withdrawn a little, but is not yet out of reach. He ducks down and licks it, a broad stripe across the back. Danny wanted him to pay attention, and what better way to show that he has been doing just that than by being an idiot about it?
“You’re an animal,” Danny curses. He starts shaking his hand, as if to get rid of Steve cooties, but he’s also halfway laughing, so Steve just grins at him.
“Apparently,” Noelani muses, “it’s an effective approach for the courting male in an even broader range of species than previously believed.”
*
3.
So he may, emphasis on may, have had a little too much to drink. He’s also been thinking about Eddie, who’s all alone at home for some reason (possibly because Adam’s building does not allow dogs, or possibly because the writers of their lives regularly seem to forget that Steve even owns a dog at all), so hey, it’s not really that weird at all, when you think about it.
“Why?” Danny asks while he shakes out his newly licked hand, but the good mood of the evening must have gotten to him. He looks more confused than irritated.
“Eddie does it,” Steve explains. “I was jealous.”
“Alright. Catch.” Danny makes a gesture like he throws something, but Steve is on to him. He knows there’s no ball.
“Trying to get rid of me?”
“Only when you start licking me in public, babe,” Danny says, which is some very interesting phrasing, Steve thinks. He decides to try again later in a more private setting.
In the interest of science, of course.
*
4.
It’s been two days, now, since the non-descript, generic fantasy vampire that Does Not Sparkle Because That Would Be Copyright Infringement bit Steve. Mostly he’s been fine – it’s a little tricky living in Hawaii, with so much sun, but he’s managed. He even felt well enough today to attend this Five-0 gathering and he’s barely sulking at all while watching the humans eat their normal human food.
Then Danny moves his hand, unknowingly sending a wave of sweet, blood-scented air straight in Steve’s direction, and-
Well, “oops” covers it pretty comprehensively.
The upside is that at least now he won’t have to build his deep, dark Vampire Dungeon all on his own. Danny has been yammering about wanting a retirement project for a while.
*
5.
Danny pokes Steve’s elbow for no good reason, so Steve leans down to bite his finger for even less of a reason.
Literally nobody at the table says anything about it or even takes notice at all, really, because hey, it’s Danny and Steve. That’s just what they’re like.

Family of Heart
So, a very special person has their birthday today and I wrote a little something for them. Happy Birthday, @tigerthealien!
The TV was loud enough to be heard throughout the whole apartment. The newscaster’s voice was shrill and panicked, short sentences followed each other, all too similar to a rapid fire gun. Her information about the newly arisen threat on the banks of the Hudson River echoed through the empty rooms, clearly audible in the kitchen where she was preparing the meal for later. She had finished the goulash, it steamed on the stove behind her, a salads waited in the fridge and she was stirring together a vanilla custard.
Just as she got ready to transfer it into another bowl, the newscaster said, ‘It looks like Black Widow is down. I repeat, Black Widow is down.’
The ceramic bowl slipped from her fingers and shattered on the stone kitchen ground. Shards broke the skins of the soles of her feet but she did not feel the pain. She hurried over to where the TV still showed the Avengers trying to contain the creatures dropping from a portal just beyond Broadway. She could make out the flash that was Iron Man, tumbling through the dusty air; the Hulk clung to something vaguely resembling a surfboard, trying to bring it to the ground. And there, moving constantly, never stopping, Cap and the Soldier, flipping each other into the air to take out the next enemy. Falcon swooped in from time to time to take care of something behind their backs.
She tried to localise Hawkeye in the midst of the battle, she could see his arrows flying and hitting their mark, but he seemed to move too quickly to be spotted. The direction the arrows came from changed with every second that went by. She noticed, however, the way he circled around Black Widow’s body, motionless on the ground until someone could get to her.
It was a Wednesday, after all, which meant that precisely these Avengers were on call, every New Yorker knew their schedule by this time. It was hard not to notice the regularity evolving around the pattern that saw certain Avengers appear on site on certain days.
The phenomenon superheroes had turned into was supported by the tight news coverage their interceptions received. Whenever they appeared in the streets, news cameras and journalists followed them and their movements as closely as possible. She knew that Cap and Black Widow hated it, they used every press conference to remind the public of the danger they faced, if they defied the Safety Protocol issued by the United Nations.
‘Oh, what a relief, Black Widow is back on her feet,’ the newscaster seemed relieved to see the woman stand again, ‘and she takes down the next creature!’
She exhaled carefully. When the journalists were back to the sports-like commentary, it was almost always save to say that no immediate harm to the Avengers was to be expected. Turning back to the kitchen, she noticed the red stains her feet had left on the previously shiny floor.
‘Shit!’ She cursed as she limped down the hall to fetch a bucket and a rag, ‘of course I bleed all over the flat. Of course it happens now.’
She wiped up what red footprints she had left in the hallway, living room and kitchen before hoisting herself onto the counter to bandage her feet using the first aid set they kept under the sink, usually for her father. His liability to injuries and accidents were more than infamous to their acquaintances and friends. In fact, she had never seen her father without band aids on various cuts and bruises in his face and on his arms or legs. They seemed to be a part of him.
The upside to it was the presence of bandages in almost every room of the apartment. Her mother had installed them there as soon as they had moved in, ‘Just to be sure.’
Every step she took, hurt. The cuts stung beneath the bandages but she had a cake to finish, food to get ready and a table to set. The cake was the easiest to manage, her custard was quick to stir together, even with the remnants of her first batch having ended up on the floor. She could pour it between her chocolate sponges without a problem. Her mother had hidden the decorations, like every year, to keep her father from eating them before the time. Like every year, she had found them in time. This year, her mother had bought fondant and edible paper Avengers cake decorations.
In the background, the newscaster congratulated the real Avengers on seemingly having won the battle and taken care of whatever enemy they had been facing. The news teams would be on site long after the Avengers had left, recalling what had been going on, assuming the motivations and background of whatever creatures they had been fighting. Their theories got wilder with every time it happened. No one wanted to hear that some people were just both evil and stupid enough to attack in broad daylight when the Avengers were close by to stop them.
She put the finished cake into the fridge and got the first salad bowls out. Her parents would be back soon enough and they would enjoy something to eat on the table. She set the table for the fifteen people who might turn up. She could never know how many were to be expected. Not with her parents and their friends. All she could do was to cook enough goulash to feed a whole battalion, make five salads and hope for the best. At least, her father had catered for enough drinks in the fridge and the pantry.
‘We are back, sweetheart!’ Her mother stood in the hallway, smiling at her; a bit dusty, but otherwise healthy and alive.
‘Mum! I saw it on the news – I thought-‘
The excitement had her zapping through the apartment, forgetting every promise she had made when her parents had her taken home with them.
‘Oops,’ she grinned at her mother, ‘sorry?’
‘It’s alright, sweet-pea, I’m sure today is the one day we can let it all slide,’ her father jumped in front of her before she could hug her mother, wrapped his arms around her and lifted her off the ground, ‘Eighteen years of dragging you around, fighting over which movies to watch, which missions to go onto, which to abandon and who has to watch you while the other is off to fight – Happy Birthday, Tiger!’
‘Yes, a very happy birthday. Now where is the cake? We were promised cake!’
‘You have to forgive him, cub, he had to move out without having his three-course breakfast earlier, he might have a little bit of a low blood sugar.’
‘You don’t say,’ she grinned and let her mother kiss her cheek, ‘In that case, the table is set and awaiting your all. Also, I’m glad to celebrate with you stupid people. Just a few minutes ago, I thought I had lost my Mum. So please, sit down and eat, you just saved New York on my birthday.’
Steve steered a grumpy Bucky towards the table. She had moved it in front of the window façade soon after her parents had left. There was no way they would let it slide on any other day. In fact, she saw the way her mother eyed the heavy table suspiciously, how her father rolled his eyes at her and how Tony smirked, knowing full well what had changed about the apartment he had designed.
‘You used your powers to get this table over here,’ Steve scratched his head and frowned, ‘I thought you promised not to do that anymore!’
‘Leave the cub alone,’ Bucky grumbled and pulled him onto a chair next to him, ‘I’m starving, so let’s eat. You can reprimand her later. Although, just pointing out, you were the first to break all promises and do stupider things than teleporting a table so that she could have a nice view for her birthday dinner.’
Tony barked out a laugh and flopped down in the chair at the head of the table. She rolled her eyes at him for it, but didn’t complain. No one got Tony out of the spot he chose for himself.
Once everybody sat and Bucky had inhaled his first portion, her parents handed around the pot of goulash, the only food everybody liked that could be made in big quantities without huge efforts. She felt her skin hum across her bones, the anticipation had her vibrating in her chair.
Other teens turning eighteen may have wished for a car, books or cinema tickets. She could wish for only one thing, nothing else came to her mind when she thought about it. From the moment she had zapped out of her cot and into the pantry for the first time, she had thought about it, supported by the first time she had seen her parents in action.
Ever since then, she had wanted to join them. She wanted to be there. She wanted to help. After all, her parents risked their life for something more important than Sunday afternoon coffees and cheesecakes. With great power comes great responsibility, as Peter always said. He and Wanda were out there, why not join them? She had asked her parents exactly that, receiving the same unsatisfying answer for years.
‘Wait until you’re eighteen.’
Everyone at the table knew about what Natasha and Clint had promised their daughter. Bruce and Tony were still against it. Peter had jumped at the possibility not to be the only one under twenty on the team. Thor, Steve and Bucky had opted for the third and insisted on training her to the best extend they could manage, preparing her for whatever she might face out in the open. Her parents may not have approved, but they eventually saw the positive aspects in their daughter being able to defend herself.
‘Are we going to address the elephant in the room, or what?’ Bucky looked up from his plate and cleared his throat, ‘She is turning eighteen today, after all. You cannot ignore that forever.’
‘We aren’t,’ her mother cleared her throat, ‘you haven’t gone soft on her, have you, Barnes? We were going to keep her on edge, slowly roast her until she caves in.’
‘Nat wanted her to beg for our approval,’ her father gave her the side-eye, ‘Your room, sweetheart. Take the shortcut.’
She squealed, jumped off her seat and zapped into her room. She could still hear everything that went on in the main room, Tony was wondering whether they thought it was good idea to do before dessert, Bucky told him to shut up and enjoy the peace while it lasted. She couldn’t care less, there, on her bed, lay a suit. Not any old suit, something seemingly made out of dark teal-coloured material, almost the same colour as her hair. She changed into it just to find that it fit her perfectly. It had loops at the belt and pockets down her legs, providing exactly the right space for knives and the devices she had developed with Tony, they had called them fangs.
‘Are you done?’ Her father leaned in the door frame, his arms crossed over his chest, ‘We want to see how it turned out, Tony worked on it without your actual measurements.’
She zapped back into the main room, acknowledging the way that material remained close to her body, not flopping around like her clothes tended to do in the process. No sooner than she had materialized again, everyone around the table started to clap.
‘A fearsome warrior has emerged!’ Thor stood, grinning and overjoyed to see her again, ‘Our enemies will shake and tremble in front of you, little cub.’
‘Wow, you look…awesome!’
The next pat on the back came from Bucky, who simply smiled and raised an eyebrow, ‘You’re sparring with me tomorrow. We’ll have you get used to the suit and its behaviour in combat.’
‘Can we bring Steve along?’ She sat back down to be prodded at by Tony.
‘Please do, but keep the suit out of trouble,’ Tony instructed, ‘I just finished it, inter-dimensional pressure withholding Spandex included. You can thank me later, but it should withstand your jumps without a problem. If not…well, I certainly hope we never find out what happens if it doesn’t work. Your mother would kill me with pleasure if I mucked this up. Speaking of which, the suit is reinforced, bullet- and waterproof and has enough pockets to hold any souvenir or lipstick you bring along.’
‘Thank you! It fits perfectly,’ she got up again to get the cake out of the fridge, ‘Anyone for cake?’
She handed out plates and forks before cutting the cake into slices. There was not much left after everybody had one but the gesture was more important anyway. Tony kept complaining about the way his face was distorted on edible paper but was shut up by Bucky biting his head of the decoration, which had Tony let out a shocked gasp.
‘Buck, no teasing,’ Steve grinned and offered his part of the sugary decorations to Bruce, ‘This is Tiger’s day.’
‘Speaking of which,’ Peter chipped in, ‘has anyone thought of an alias for her?’
They exchanged looks. For a moment, no one said a word. The gathering exchanged looks. Then, Tony perked up and raised his hand.
‘Spiderhawk, to commemorate her parentage,’ He grabbed the remaining piece of cake from Bruce’s plate.
‘Sounds over the top,’ Wanda sighed, ‘Spiderling?’
‘Hey!’ Peter perked up from his phone, ‘That’s a call too close to home.’
‘Maybe something hinting at her abilities?’
‘Jumping-Jack?’
‘Yo-Yo?’
‘What’s wrong with something that doesn’t distort her name, huh?’ Bucky leaned back in his chair and fumbled with his scrunchie to gather his hair in a ponytail, ‘Call her Tigress. Even Tiger Cub would be acceptable, I guess.’
‘Stop forcing it, icicle,’ Tony pouted, ‘You are going to call her Cub, no matter what we suggest, won’t you?’
Bucky shrugged, one arm behind the back rest of Steve’s chair, grinning wolfishly, ‘I’m just saying, why call her anything but what we call her anyway? We all know that Nat chose Tiger for her name because she bit Clint the day she got here, and she’s been biting through everything ever since. ’
‘He was creeping me out,’ she defended herself, sticking her tongue out at her father, ‘I didn’t know what else to do.’
No one mentioned her past, the experiments on her DNA that had left her with powers, the panic she had caused when she had zapped out of her nursery for the first time or how her father had found her in the air vents a few hours later. She had demolished his secret stashes of cookies before he got her out of the narrow pipes. No one said anything but how much of a gift she had been, to Clint and Natasha, to the Avengers family, and as of late, to Peter whenever he was freaking out about being part of a group like the Avengers without having graduated from High School yet. Zapping him onto the top of the Chrysler Building only to swing back to Avengers Tower with his webs had caused an uproar on the news and one week grounding for her, but it had helped Peter. Their attempts of denying their involvement had been ruined by his Spiderman suit and her distinct green hair, the side effect of Hydra experiments on a toddler.
Now, at eighteen years of age, the whole world of Superhero work, every opportunity of helping, saving, living her life, lay before her. She could use the powers given to her to make her a weapon for good. She could chose to fight, fight back and save lives. She had found a loving family and a group of friends who would never leave her side; no matter what hardships lay ahead. She was saved in their hearts, every single one of them would do whatever it took to make her feel good, welcome, accepted.
Because family was so much more than blood.

Yet another super incomplete, entirely incoherent, and most definitely not chronological list of my thoughts, this time on Stranger Things 2 eps 4-7
I will never be over my feelings about Joyce Byers and her love for her children. Obviously Will is the focus at this point, but omg the raw ferocity of her love and concern just leaps out of my tv and murders my mom heart. And wow, I could do this in every ep, but the most major shoutout to Winona Ryder’s acting chops. She never overdoes it for a second, which I think is a feat when she constantly has to convey so much desperation and terror. Amazing.
ALSO. Noah Schnapp, holy shit. I mean we didn’t honestly get to see hardly any of him in the first season, but wow I will never stop yammering about what a great job this show did in choosing the kids who make up the main cast. There’s not a weak link, and the scene where Will tells Joyce that the monster/shape/what the fuck ever that thing is got him pretty much broke me.
Ew, Dustin’s bizarre affection for his slug toy turns out predictably badly, but how awesome is it that by pure serendipity, he winds up with Steve? The second they got in the car together, S says, “I love the way this show always sticks together the characters you wouldn’t really expect to hang out,” and YEP, he is so right. And I mean, can we talk about Steve’s face when he asks Dustin how he knows it’s not a lizard and Dustin’s like, “I know because it’s face opened up and it ate my cat.” STEVE’S FACE. Just like, “Okay, fair.” I am die.
Tbh I really don’t see the point of Max’s brother. He’s a dick and apparently a giant racist and I guess he could be there just so Max can have that heart to heart with Lucas on the bus but idk. I just really don’t find anything about him interesting or compelling and I’m super confused as to why he’s always so goddamn shiny. Also did I just hang with the wrong crowd in the ‘80s or did all parents just let their kids sit around in their living rooms, smoking and drinking beer while lifting weights? I didn’t know any of these parents, but my best friend’s mom did let us have wine coolers when we were 13 so clearly I was a giant fucking rebel.
Hopper and El’s fight sucked a whole lot of ass, and although I love Hopper, I seriously wanted to hit him myself when he called her a brat. Yes Jim, I get that you have manpain AND I LOVE YOU but holy fuck this is a traumatized child who’s entirely isolated from the world. I don’t blame her for taking off.
And then of course we have another episode of Poor Life Choices With Jim Hopper, in which he decides the best idea ever is to dig into the upside down all by himself, without telling anyone what he’s doing or where he is, and that’s bound to turn out super great, RIGHT? Spoiler alert: It does not turn out super great. I still freaked when the vines got him, ngl.
Omg, Bob. I know what’s going to happen to him and I hate it so much I can’t deal. HE’S SO FUCKING CUTE. And as @faith5by5-1013 said in a comment on my last post, I just love that there’s no love triangle bullshit here. Like Hopper is (more or less) happy for Joyce and Bob and Bob accepts Joyce’s history with Hopper and it’s just refreshing is all. ANYWAY Bob breaks me because of course he figures out the map since he’s Bob the Brain and his ridiculously adorable instant acceptance of all this wild fuckery is the stuff that dreams are made of. Get yourself a guy like Bob Newby, is all I’m trying to say.
The entirety of everything with El and her mom was just well, the worst. I’d assumed that Brenner had done something like electroshock on Terry, but assuming and watching are two different things. And for fuck’s sake, Eleven is a CHILD, which I think is something that’s very easy to forget with Millie Bobby Brown’s precociousness and her wild acting skills. Watching Eleven pretty much relive her mother’s horror is the worst, and it only makes Eleven’s eventual choice NOT to kill Otis (oops wrong show, lmao) even more meaningful and poignant.
Erica Sinclair is everything. The end.
MAJOR ASIDE. I could not get over the gajillion ways in which this show is using Paul Reiser’s character to remind any viewer familiar with Aliens of that movie. I mean, shit. He repeats phrases that are almost verbatim dialogue from Aliens, there’s the motion tracker stuff when the demodogs attack the ambushed lab dudes, there’s the “Stay frosty.” Yeah, Aliens was 1986 and this is supposedly 1984, but nobody can convince me that all this wasn’t intentional. That said, I’m starting to have the feeling that Dr. Owens isn’t going to turn out to be as awful as Carter Burke.
I used to use Faberge. Like, I was DYING.
SO, both my kids pretty much hated ep 7, and while it certainly isn’t my favorite of the eps I’ve seen so far, I really appreciated a number of things about it.
Like, I never stop thinking about the fact that Eleven has spent her entire life in a lab. Her face when she sees the city lights at night is just everything. There are so many aspects of life this child has never had the chance to touch, and it makes me hurty inside just thinking about it.
I do think the ep was too long, but whatever, this isn’t the kind of issue I’m gonna be mad about. Since the beginning of the season, the show has been riffing on what could possibly be “home” for El. This ep is so important if only because it answers that question for her in a deep and final way. Kali’s gang was honestly pretty dull and I didn’t give much of a shit about them, but I did give a lot of shits about El finally answering some very specific questions about her past and learning to make her own choices with this new information.
Look, one of my greatest fictional kinks ever is That Person Who Chooses To Be A Wonderul And Good Person Even Though Every Single Thing In Their Life Suggests They Should Absolutely Be An Axe Murderer. And of course El is exactly that. There’s nothing in her past that should make her choose mercy, but when it counts, that’s exactly what she does. And I could not love her more.
Also lbr. I pretty much died when she figured out that Mike, Hopper, and everyone else were in danger and was just like, peace out motherfuckers, I gotta save my friends and family. Not all heroes wear capes. Some of them wear a lot of eyeliner and hair gel:)
Final thoughts: I’m super surprised they waited this long to reunite El and Mike. I really do not want to watch Bob Newby die. I’m glad Jonathan and Nancy are together but I still find my interest waning whenever they’re the focus. Omg WHY AM I LOVING STEVE HARRINGTON?

Yes Hop, let’s venture into the radioactive zone.
AGAIN WITH THE PUNCHING
Hop is a man on a mission and I love that for him. I ain’t seen him pop a pill since he started taking this seriously.

Nancy, sweetie, that is not how you swing a bat.
Jonathon, I really hope you get to go to NYU.
Can someone kick Lonnie’s ass?
Jonathon, my dear, don’t close your eye when you shoot.
Nancy, not you too.
Aw man Hopper’s ex wife has a new baby, that has to hurt.
Dustin really just sassy as fuck, where was this in the first few episodes
This papa shit makes him so much worse of a guy
Nancy really will not let the picture go. You’d think she’d want to forget about it.
Nancy you are definitely trying to be someone else. She’s so mad that Jonathon called her out.
Hopper showing up with a sign DONT SAY ANYTHING. He’s gotta check ALL OF THOSE LIGHTS NOW JOYCE
Hopper just validated Joyce and I’m surprised she didn’t cry
HE REALLY CALLED HER A STRAY DOG
SHE JUST CHUCKED LUCAS’S ASS
Playing El had to have been awkward as hell
Jonathon being a snippy little bitch 😂
“It’s been hit by a car” YOU ARE IN THE WOODS NANCY
Jonathon really stepping up to kill the deer for her only for it to get fucking YOINKED INTO THE DARKNESS
Jonathon you never aim a gun at person. Even if you are turning around and she happens to be standing there. That’s just gun safety 101.
Where are the Wheeler parents while both their kids are investigating in the dark?
Nancy, why would you crawl into a tree dripping ooze alone?
Yooooo you found the Upside Down!
And a monster.
Better run.
Even when yelling Jonathon has a soft ass voice.
Check under the tree Jonathon!
Oop the monster saw her

Dustin takes no shit goddamn
The reflection had the nosebleed on the wrong side lmao

THIS MOM REALLY PICKING HER DAUGHTERS LOCK. BOUNDARIES WOMAN.
Dustin’s lisp kills me.
“It was a little awesome.” “Awesome!?” “SHE THREW YOU IN THE AIR WITH HER MIND”

Nancy is kind of a bitch, but kind of a badass
“No more secrets.” Immediately asks about her taste in boys
Joyce momming El 🥺🥹
She still had Mike’s watch on 🥺
The safety El got from Joyce so immediately hurts my heart. The slightest affection has her clinging and I just wanna love her.
She cuddles up to Mike, but Lucas and Dustin make sure she’s covered with a towel and stays warm. My heartttttt
Jonathon really ready to run into danger for his crush on Nancy. I guess also for Will, but mostly for Nance.
Hop and Joyce, stealth is not your strong suit
Will, my sweet baby boy, stay strong
Dr Brenner could tryin’ to feed Joyce your lies. She knows better. She’s met Eleven.
WHY DID HOP GET TAZED
Hop just calling them out on their BULLSHIT and doing so with a smart mouth. He and I are gonna the same way some day. By pissing off the wrong person.

Steve sat in the waiting room with them!
“Her names Eleven.”
“What, like the number?”
UH UH AGENTS GET AWAY FROM HOPPER
NO HOP DO NOT GET IN THAT CAR
I always hear how dramatic Eddie is with his D&D campaigns, but Mike was grabbing his chest and dropping to the ground first
Jonathon picking Will up from campaign. Best 👏🏻 big 👏🏻 brother 👏🏻
HOPPER ARE YOU HIDING ELEVEN
NO WILL WHAT DID YOU SPIT UP MY POOR BABY
My thoughts on Stranger Things.
As I watch, I’m just making this list of comments.
This will be a thread. Here is e1-4 of s1.
Will is baby. He could’ve lied about his roll and Mike never would’ve known.
Poor Benny. He was just being a good dude.
Nancy is kind of a bitch. Barb was supposed to be her best friend. I don’t know about y’all, but my best friend cuts herself trying to shotgun a beer, I’m helping her fix her hand up, not sticking around with some asshole by a pool.
Also along Barb’s lines, Jonathon was RIGHT THERE
I don’t blame Jonathon for Barb. But not gonna lie, I do blame Nancy.
Jonathon is a good ass son.
Joyce is really just losing her mind, huh?
El really has no qualms about just adventuring through someone’s house alone. Makes sense, since she was an experiment and all, but it’s amusing.
Steve is really such a pushover for Tommy and Carol, and they both suck.
Jonathon is adorable and with such a puppy crush, but hella weird that he took all those pictures when he stumbled upon Steve’s house.
Not gonna lie, Joyce’s Christmas lights? I’d let her decorate my house.
Marissa is not down for a second date, Hop. Sorry to tell ya.
STEVE YOU LEAVE BABY JONATHON ALONE
Is King Steve a fandom nickname because I haven’t heard it said ONE TIME
What was she supposed to be doing with the cat 😨
Dr Brenner you get your dirty hands off my angel
Oh NOW you wanna check if Barbs car is still where she parked. I thought you were smart Nancy.
THERES the alphabet paint I’ve been looking for
Mike you were the better Wheeler, why you gotta act like that
Oh shit Joyce got an axe
Mike be nice damn
YES EL GET THAT RADIO WORKING
People really staring at the Byers while they grieve. Like GET BACK VULTURES.
THESE BOYS REALLY LOOKED AT EL AND SAID MAKEOVER JUST TO SNEAK HER INTO SCHOOL
Lucas really just judging Mike for his flirting
These boys really cannot lie to save their asses.
Is Nancy’s favorite word just bullshit?
Putting this damn photo back together like it’s some complex puzzle
Mike snapped but El coming in with that backup yooooooo
NANCY HE IS PLANNING A FUNERAL
Not Jonathon really hearing Nancy say something he wrote his mom off as crazy for and believing it
HOPPER THAT IS NOT HOW LAW ENFORCEMENT OPERATES
Joyce really watched it turn back into a wall and then took the ace to it
“Just that it came out of the wall.” This man has me soft for literally no reason.
HOPPER YOU GOTTA QUIT HITTING PEOPLE
That kid ain’t Will.
HOP WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? WHY IS HE FULL OF STUFFING???
Why is Lonnie back now 🤨
Hopper is not pleased and quite frankly I’m afraid for whoever pisses him off next.

Your head lulled to one side, you coughed, clearing your throat as you began to laugh. Nat was struggling against her restraints, you shake your head.
“What’s so funny.” Ryan demands, watching you.
“You hit worse than a certain witch I know.” You giggle, licking your lips. “I hope Steve breaks your face.” You spit at him, Ryan makes a grumbling noise, before he stalks off.
“Such a sensitive ego.” Nat looks at you, her dark eyes let you know she wasn’t scared of Ryan.
“Seriously, pretty sure Wanda hits harder.” Your eyes start looking around the ropes tying your hands together were hooked over a metal hook connected to the chain, your eyes flick to Nat, who was no more than three feet from you, giving it a test you push as much as you can on your toes, in hopes to get swinging.
“What are you,” Nat’s eyes follow yours, as she pieces it together, she nods beginning the same process, once your legs and hips are swinging back and forth, your hands grasp the rope, you throw your legs up hard, quickly wrapping yourself around the chain. Hanging upside down you watch Nat do the same, pulling your ropes free from the hook you grab the chain letting your legs go, you dropped to the ground, Nat drops next to you.
Rushing towards each other you grab for her hands yanking on the ropes around her wrists, pulling her hands free, she pulls on your wrists freeing you. You both look around, not seeing an opening for an escape, your eyes meet knowing exactly what the other was thinking.
“No way out in here.” You both nod.
“Ready?” You ask her, she nods, pulling off her leather jacket, she adjusts the black tank top she had on underneath. You pull your over sized sweater off, you pull up the grey bralette Cami you had under neither it, you both drop them to the ground as you hear the footsteps coming towards you.
“Well, well, look whose freed herself.” Ryan grins one of the men right behind him, he starts towards the both of you, Nat charges at him, she’s wrapped around him in no time, before you hear the familiar cracking sound, the man drops to the ground as Nat lands on her feet.
“Keep her alive, kill her friend if you have too.” Ryan waves his hand, you rush towards Ryan, one of the men makes a grab for you.
“I got movement, in the back.” Sam waves his hand forward, as the team creeps through the abandoned factory.
“(Y/N)!” Nat’s voice echoes around the empty place, cutting you deep. The team exchange looks, before rushing forward to the opening, coming through taking in the room; Nat pinned to the wall by a large man holding her off the ground,  (Y/N) on the ground under Ryan, his hand around her throat, threatening her. Sam, Clint, and Tony charge several of the other men, looking at Pietro, who nods before he’s behind the man holding Nat, Steve and Buck start for Ryan holding (Y/N) to the ground.
Ryan’s hand is around your throat before you realized he was behind you, slamming you back against the ground, your hand around his wrist you claw at it. Nat makes a move for you “(Y/N)!”, one of the men grabs her slamming her into the wall her feet coming off the ground.
“Did you know!?” Ryan demands leaning over you, the flash of something by the opening catches your eye, Buck moving towards you. You grin up at Ryan, who looks confused.
“Remember.” You struggle with the words as Ryan’s hand squeezes around your neck. “You were warned.” You let out a choked laugh.
A bright, shiny, metal hand is around Ryan’s neck, panic spreads across his face before Buck ripped him off you, you cough as air rushes in. Ryan’s feet are kicking in panic, as Buck holds him off the ground, Tony is pulling you to your feet, his thumb tracing your cheek where Ryan had punched you.
“Doesn’t look broken.” He says looking your neck over next. Buck makes a noise like an angry growl suddenly slamming Ryan to the ground in the same manner he had done to you, his hands claw at the metal hand around his neck in fear. His eyes dart around, looking for help, his one hand on the ground as he tries to reach for a piece of wood laying nearby, his knuckles bruised and discolored from where his hand had connected with your face.
Steve’s boot is crushing down on Ryan’s hand, forcing it flat against the ground, if possible Ryan’s eyes widen even more in fear, Buck suddenly pulls Ryan up, a cracking noise echoes around the room. Buck gives Ryan an evil grin, as Ryan screams out in pain, you flinch into Tony at the sound.
“I’m getting strong ‘Winter Soldier’ vibes.” Clint jokes, Tony grins at him.
“What should we do with him?” Nat asks, eyeing Ryan like she wanted to throat punch him.
“I’d like to snap him in half.” Buck growls, you raise an eyebrow.
“We take him in.” Steve’s glaring at Ryan his blue eyes give away just how much he agrees with Buck. You put your hand on his arm, he finally tears his eyes away from Ryan, taking in your face you were sure was a mess. Buck drops his hold on Ryan who falls to the ground with a thud, before he stoops down grabbing hold of Ryan’s collar and dragging him behind as he heads for the entrance.
“Hey Buck hold on.” You call pulling away from Steve, Buck pauses, looking back at you, walking towards Buck you swing your foot back before letting it go, making contact between Ryan’s legs, he gives a breathless groan in pain. You see several of the men watching you pull a face, even Steve flinches slightly, Buck winces watching you.
“Low blow.” Clint shakes his head, wincing. Pietro give a shiver.
“Cruel.” He says quietly.
“Damn.” Sam blinks, shaking his head.
“A five-year old hit harder than you.” You glare down at him as he wheezes in pain.
“He hit you?!” Steve’s voice is raised, your eyes widen, and Nat looks away, as you mutter under your breathe.
“Just so he didn’t hit Nat.” You mumble, looking down picking at the holes in your jeans, feeling much like a child being scolded. Steve’s jaw is set, as he pulls you into him, the group starts for the doors again.
“She deserved it. I’ll get you back. She killed my father.” Ryan is ranting being dragged behind Buck, Steve lets go of you, stepping forward he serves one good punch to Ryan’s face, his head lulls to one side. Buck looks back grinning in praise of Steve’s actions.
“He talks too much.” Steve mutters, not making any eye contact.
Maria and Fury arrive to transport Ryan, Clint walks him to the SUV as Sam pulls open the hitting Ryan with it. “My bad.” Sam nods.
Clint bounces Ryan’s head off the frame of the door, looking around he shrugs. “Oops.” Slamming the door closed, walking away casually.
“Can I please take you home?” Steve looks down at you, his hand on your cheek, you grin up at him.
“Please.” You sigh, leaning up press your lips to his.
“Okay, gross. I don’t want to hear any of that, anyone else want to do something far, far away from them?” Tony looks around, at the team.
“Absolutely!” Nat waves her hand.
“Take me with.” Clint follows as they start towards the SUV’s.
“I’ll grab Wanda.” Sam nods.
“You people are ridiculous.” You shout after them.
“Have you heard them?” Nat asks, her thumb jabbed back towards you and Steve.
“Who hasn’t?” Buck shakes his head.
“More than I need to know about Cap, comes out of her mouth behind closed doors.” Tony waves his hand, the group laughs. Steve chuckles, leading you after the group, causing you to laugh as you blush red.

“Demogorgon?” It had meant to be a scoff, but it came out tired instead. Memory clicking through like a rolodex of various horrors of the Upside Down - god, what an accurate name - and settling on a few things it could be. Hand flexed around his axe all the same, half expecting the name to summon something and nearly glancing over his shoulder. Eyes halfway to darting before he remembered the hum beneath them was a car, not a generator or the whine of something ready to tear into his back.
Perhaps he’d know more if he’d-
Well, that was the past now wasn’t it? The little reminder was fair; he hadn’t been… Perhaps still wasn’t. But there was a knot of guilt in him at the sudden reminder that there had been a before. Too many faces in the hivemind that had been his doing. Eyes glanced back to the window and the strawberries were forgotten in his lap. “Yeah, well. Not like anyone really thinks that kind of shit is going to be relevant, you know?”
It was easier to focus on other things. A scoff leaving his throat. “Fucker did that, huh? Couldn’t live with me, couldn’t live without. Ol’ bastard’s probably onto the next one now.” Which was said with as much vitrol as he could muster. Spit into the air and not an ounce of damn regret. Neil wasn’t worth the energy…even if he didn’t want to admit a relief lifted off his shoulders. Old aches no longer in danger of being remembered by new ones. Did that make him a coward? Perhaps. Did it make him a jackass? Probably. But if there was anything he hadn’t wanted to come back to, Neil Hargrove was it.
Still, still. “Max is a tough one. She’d do fine with or without me there.” There was more he should perhaps say, but he wasn’t ready. And the drive through was a relief as it gave him time to think. Waving a bit at Steve’s question, distracted as he tried to figure out what the fuck he was even going to say to Max. Because he remembered the Starcourt mall, the dry taste in his mouth, the fear that had jolted through him. One chance, one opportunity - taken. Waking up and half expecting to see Max there next to him as dead as he was.
Thank god she hadn’t, though he’d dreamed it so many times in the Upside Down…
Food came and suddenly he was ravenous. Berries good but not enough, and he nearly ate the burger with the damn wrapper on in his enthusiasm. Forgetting, for a minute, that there was company and forcing himself to at least chew with his damn mouth shut.
He’d noticed there was a hesitance in Steve during all this. A way of talking like the guy was walking on egg shells around him. Billy certainly remembered denting the guy’s face nearly in. But that pit in his stomach couldn’t help but wonder if there was something more. Steve certainly had his fucking choices for being wary; his hands were as clean as his axe. Still, still.
Eyes slide sideways to watch Steve. “And yet here you are, in the land of the living, face and hair of yours still intact.” God there was something else here, so many other somethings, and he didn’t even know where to start.
Looking back to his burger, Billy picked a piece of wrapper from his teeth. Oops. “Been dancin’ around a lot of things, Harrington. You gonna pick one to spit out or do I need to start asking what the hell’s got you looking at me like you’re trying to ask me to prom?”

"Yeah, the real tall flower face thing with the long ass arms and claws, it’s like 8 feet tall," he said, having forgotten for a moment that Billy had no way of knowing what they'd called it, even if he'd seen them before (Steve hoped he hadn't, but was going to assume he had). Even in the Realm, they'd all known that's what it was specifically because he'd told them all when they realized one had gotten sucked in, as well. It was how they knew what any of the monsters were called, based on what someone who knew of it said, but Billy hadn't been there. He'd been in the Upside Down, alone.     It made Steve feel unreasonably guilty, that they could have saved him all of that if they'd just told him. It wasn't really any of their fault because Billy hadn’t been willing to talk anything out and he certainly couldn't be trusted then, but it was still one of those situations that Steve couldn't help looking back on and hating for the fact that so damn much of it could have been prevented.     Just like now, possibly. Billy needed to know a lot of shit, and Steve was in the position to tell him, just stalling because it was a big Bad News thing. "No, we didn't really think you'd need to know then, and now it's a little late, but I'll tell you," he sighed, food set aside and forgotten - preferably for Billy to inhale it like he had the burger. There was another in there because Steve remembered being ravenous when he got out of the Realm, and he couldn't imagine the Upside Down being any better.     Billy had to get that dig in about his face and hair, of course, and Steve couldn't even tell if he was flirting or insulting at this point, not that it really mattered. He was curbing his usual urge to snap back at the moron, but to be fair, Billy wasn't wrong. He was dancing around a couple of topics. He pulled a face, running his hand through his hair in that absent way he did when he was stressed, but set his jaw, not looking at Billy as he started his explanation.     "There was something weird going on, as per fucking usual, and we thought it might be a demogorgon issue or some new monster, so the Monster Squad did what they did and we all tried to figure it out. I got separated from Nancy in the woods trying to draw it away from the kids, this fog rolled in around me and the Demogorgon, and somehow we weren't in Hawkins anymore. It was some nightmare realm, a bunch of people being hunted constantly by these monsters, just neverending."     He paused, a little distant - obviously remembering and not really focused on Billy, but it wasn't the first time he'd explained any of it. He'd probably been more clinical the last time, and that's what made him shake his head suddenly, reining it back in. "We worked out a way to escape and it took years, but finally got all of us out. When I stopped running, I landed in the city, in some random fucking alley, which was weird enough, but it's...it's been about forty years, man.  The year is 2022, not 1985 like you remembered."     He finally looked to Billy, watching him for his reaction, and frankly? He wasn't sure what to expect. Almost any reaction would be valid, that much he knew, though he hoped the guy didn't fuck up the car and leave them stranded. He'd make a call, but that would still leave them sitting around waiting.
