Just doesn't seem like you, Zee," he pointed out with a lazy sort of tone to go with the easy smile. He knew he had her attention, if nothing else, but he hadn't asked her for a favor. He'd presented her with a situation that looked pretty simple and curious on the surface, odd but not yet a problem.

ㅤHe knew there was a roiling mess underneath, but that didn't mean someone else would. If she thought him offering to just let it go when they both knew the individual carrying it was scheduled to arrive in a major metro area in mere days was a threat, then it was because she knew just as well as he did what was coming. That she was also going to be in the same city (which meant it would be her problem when the shit hit the fan) was only an incentive for her to graciously offer her aid, of course. "Take it that trinket's a bit more potent than it seems, then?"

✧˖*°࿐ Unfortunately for Selina, she couldn't point out some physical evidence that he was scared because his voice was deep and smooth, unaffected, and she had gone off the roof. That meant that he hadn't caused the situation just to get his hands on her, though he couldn't say he minded, either. His arm fit perfectly into the curve of her back to slot them together and she wrapped one slim leg around his thighs to better distribute her weight. With anyone else, he might have thought it and instantly dismissed any untoward thoughts because those distractions were useless in a situation like this, but Selina?

ㅤHe wasn't sure why, but Selina had somehow managed to slink right in past everything he had to sidle in close, just as her cats had once rubbed at his ankles. If he'd left her to fend for herself when she went off the roof, he might have had the Joker, the Penguin or both before they could make their exits, but there had been the chance that she wouldn't land on her feet. Though he had been teasing, her rapid heartbeat and breathing wasn't telling him that he was wrong to jump after her. He could hear the two rogues on the roof still, Cobblepot clearly on his way out and the Joker wouldn't be far behind him without an audience to torment. Frustrating, but he'd suffered worse losses than the one he was currently suspended in.

ㅤ"Have you ever known me to joke?" he deadpanned, and his tone sold it, but a smirk had slid past his guard. This was what she did to him. It was brief and he tilted his head to check the distance to the ground for an excuse not to look her in the eyes when they were so close and he was clearly on the back foot. At her prompting, he did reclaim his familiar stoicism to give her a flat look and release the lock on the grappling gun to lower them to the ground just slowly enough that his ankles wouldn't mind, but faster than they both knew he had to. It was a point. "An informant then. What was in there to draw all three of you?"

"you’re  breathing  hard.  are  you  scared?" 

ㅤ  ㅤ  emerald  green  eyes  narrowed  slightly  as  she  stared  up  at  @starsinshadows,  her  chest  rising  and  falling  to  prove  what  he'd  pointed  out.  usually  she  would  deflect,  point  out  some  physical  evidence  that  he  was  scared  or  accuse  him  of  causing  this  just  to  get  his  hands  on  her,  but  FOR  SOME  REASON  SHE  DIDN'T. 

ㅤ  ㅤ  their  bodies  were  pressed  together,  not  sexually  but  instead  to  keep  them  both  safe.  the  scene  on  the  rooftop  felt  like  a  cheesy  action  flick  not  something  the  two  had  just  lived.  it  seemed  as  if  more  than  one  rogue  had  decided  to  knock  over  the  diamond  exchange  that  night,  Selina  had  made  her  plans  well  in  advance  but  she  couldn't  put  it  past  Cobblepot  to  have  done  his  own  research  as  well.  the  only  wildcard  had  been,  and  would  always  be,  the  Joker.  the  three  had  all  arrived  within  the  hour  and  the  Bat  had  found  himself  not  far  behind.  the  arguments  ensued  with  Selina  and  Oswald  having  it  out,  the  Joker  laughing,  and  the  Bat  wanting  to  save  everyone  but  the  clown.  IT  WAS  CHAOS,  and  somehow  at  the  end  of  it  she'd  mistakenly  allowed  the  clown  to  toss  her  from  the  edge  of  the  roof.  before  she  could  even  think,  kevlar  covered  arms  were  wrapping  around  her  waist  and  pulling  her  close. 

ㅤ  ㅤ  now  the  two  hung  from  the  side  of  the  building,  sounds  of  Cobblepot  cursing  the  Joker  as  he  left  with  whatever  goodies  he'd  come  for. 

ㅤ  ㅤ  “  is  that  a  joke?  ”  she  asked  incredulously,  almost  shocked  he  would  make  a  joke  in  that  moment.  one  leg  was  wrapped  around  his  thighs,  using  that  to  help  tether  her  to  him  while  he  held  the  grapple  gun  with  one  hand  and  her  waist  with  the  other.  they  stayed  suspended  in  air  for  a  few  minutes  just  looking  at  each  other.  “  what  am  I,  A  HOSTAGE?  when  does  the  descent  start,  big  guy?  ”

Heyo! Some of you may have noticed rumblings over here, and I'm excited to announce that I'm in the process of revamping this blog to spread my attention around more effectively. I'm still going to be a bit on the slow side with everything because I'm dealing with post-concussion syndrome with its tests, occupational medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy and follow-ups while working and doing school full-time. My health isn't the best and I'm struggling a bit, but the muse is strong, so I'm doing my best!

I'll be starting up here with my Marvel/DC muses first as I hit up rewatching/rereading, with the horror muses all moved over to my horror multi - @darkstarsrise or their solo blogs, respectively. Any others will be integrated back in as I get to refreshing on their media and voices. My carrd is in progress on a massive update, so feel free to check it out often as I keep adding to it!
