honestly as much as autumn and its weather are my favorite time of year i also can't wait for genuine cold weather again because then i get to wear my fucking CLOAK again

finally on the sleeves of my current sweater project i’m so excited for it to be completed and to have another woolen handmade garment for when the weather gets cold
#it’ll be my 3rd sweater of 2024 and my second for myself#i made a midnight blue cable sweater w thick thick wool#and a light white cardigan w pearl buttons and lots of ribbing for my gf#and now this mottled seaglass green turtleneck for myself#and not to mention socks#fingerless gloves#leg warmers#washcloths for a new baby in the family#it’s my best year for knitting so far and it’s not even close#i love it bc i can knit at work if im not manager on shift that day#keeps me focused on my work to have my hands busy#and it’s fun to like passively craft and my coworkers like to see what i end up with at the end it’s sweet#personal#knitting

Yesterday was my last day of crafting, as I’m back in the garden today. … 😃🧶 So I decided to have a go at making fingerless gloves again … it’s been a wee while. 😅
They are knitted in an acrylic yarn, so they are easy to care for and definitely cosy and warm. I think this may be my favourite yarn of all time, as the colours are so pretty … 🥰

Been meaning to post here more
Originally I wanted to make this a page where I build my portfolio of all the crafts I do, but nowadays I really just want to share all the silly stuff I make and advice on how to make it (and similar things).
Anyway, here's my latest creation. Semi-fingerless gloves. My disability makes it so I don't really have a grip on anything when I wear full gloves/mittens. But it also makes it so I have shit blood circulation, so my pinkies go numb with cold VERY quickly. If folks want the pattern for these, I'll post it, and if there's enough interest, I'll draw up a paid pattern with pictures and details on how to make these custom to your own size/shape. Made with hand-dyed merino wool, purchased from MJ Yarns. I use Furls Crochet ergonomic hooks, which are SUPER comfortable to use

Brass knuckles for when you need a sensory stim
#love them so so much and also they keep my fingers warm#but I live in constant fear or accidentally putting them in the wash#they’re alpaga fur ❤️#and I have accidentally put alpaga fur and wool in the washer dryer before and accidentally felted it 😅🥲#so I have another pair of fingerless gloves that are like one solid block of alpaga felt#which is VERY warm but kinda weird on a sensory level tbh

argh feelin selfish because i haven't finished my mother's CHRISTMAS GIFT yet (got a couple of inches still to knit of the FIRST sock) or even STARTED my father's (and he has very long feet so that most socks will die early because he can't put his heel in properly) and yet what i really want to do/maybe need to do is
knit myself a pair of fingerless gloves to keep my hands warm this winter
#i even have fingerless gloves#but the texture is unpleasant sadly#think it'll be improved by using real wool this time around not acrylic#and working in the round so not having that nasty seam on the side#but how selfish is that to say 'o yeah im gonna delay these things i promsied you just so i can keep comfy'
