How does Darius treat Luz after the awful mindscape horror show? I imagine things are certainly awkward between them for a bit with Darius feeling no shortage of guilt that he was perfectly willling to villify a teenage victim of abuse and want to make amends and Luz just... completely agreeing with said vilification but also desperately needing another caring adult. Do Luz get the Dadruis treatment like Hunter eventually and what does their bond look like?
THIS IS A REALLY GOOD AND INTERESTING QUESTION. once again this is a concept that deserves an entire fic to itself. but since my time and energy are limited i'll see what thoughts i have.
okay so for background context:
here's a post from a while back explaining more of the context with darius's relationship to both luz and hunter. AKA, why he gets along with hunter much better much earlier than in the canon, and why he also finds luz Scary As Fuck.
AND HERE'S A POST I HAD COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN ABOUT, about darius thinking that luz has figured out that he's a traitor. and darius being afraid that if luz treats traitors the same way that belos did, then hunter might be in danger, even though hunter's never shown any signs of disloyalty.
so darius doesn't exactly hate luz or think that she's evil as much as.... he's wary of Anyone with the kind of power that she has. and the way she acts just makes him more suspicious and afraid. i don't know how much concern he has for his own wellbeing, but he's Certainly concerned that luz might treat hunter as disposable. and he's certainly concerned for anybody else who knows he's a rebel n does treason shit (raine, eber, the BATS, etc)
mainly that context is to say: i don't think he's been as big a dick to her as he is to hunter in the canon. but he HAS been openly rude and disdainful toward her. and he's probably made the occasional pointed comment that makes her go, "oh no, he's right. i'm Evil"
i think that he'd start changing his relationship with luz through his relationship with hunter. he and hunter know each other better, and hunter likes hanging around him. more than that, hunter Already Trusts darius. luz believes that darius is a good ally because she trusts hunter's judgment, but she's still afraid to show vulnerability in front of any other adult except MAYBE raine.
hunter spends a lot of time around luz both because he's her captain and because they're terribly codependent. darius avoids luz as much as possible, which severely limits the amount of time he can spend with hunter.
so i think post-mindscape, he'd just like. relax a bit??
he'd stop talking shit about luz even in passing, he'd make it clear that he's happy to spend time with hunter even if luz tags along, he'd start assuming luz will be around instead of expecting hunter to schedule his time around her. (inasmuch as either hunter or luz have any free time, what with her being the empress.)
i think he feels bad about misjudging luz, but even more than that, he feels bad about misjudging HUNTER. because his assumption has always been that time away from luz is good for hunter, bc it means that hunter has brief freedom from all of the empire's expectations. but now he's realizing just how much extra stress that puts on hunter's shoulders. and how much he misinterpreted where the problems with the kids were coming from
this approach means that he gets to spend more time around both kids and organically build a rapport with luz. i think she'd be a little uncertain and anxious about his intentions at first - but like i said, she DOES trust hunter implicitly. so if hunter doesn't think that there's any danger or political machinations afoot, luz will try not to be paranoid.
she and darius would get along pretty well once darius stops viewing her with suspicion and starts indulging her bright-eyed curiosity. luz thinks that he is So Cool and wants to learn Everything about him.
i think that if luz WAS going to confess about the murder to anyone besides hunter, it would Probably be raine.
but.
darius is more ruled by his emotions than raine is. and he's better at remaining stealthy and tactical..... UNTIL he's emotionally invested. so i CAN see darius reaching a point where he's, like.
like.
he's been watching luz and hunter try to manage all of this shit by themselves and has been subtly helping where possible, but both kids are Clearly struggling. and i can see him getting frustrated enough to eventually just. drop the bomb that he knows.
i don't know if luz would confess to raine first or if darius would lose patience before then. either way.... they'd eventually get on the same page. in as messy and stupid a way as possible.

🍐 or 🫐?
Hello there!!! Answering both because I love yapping 🫶
🍐 Is there anything in canon that you absolutely hate and love to fix in fics? A wrong choice made, a fuck-up in characterization, a misunderstanding never cleared up, a conversation never shown onscreen, etc…
For TOH, I was very much not a fan of For the Future and the writing choices made in there. I don't hate the Boscha plot, but I think it felt more like a random episode that could have worked had it not been in the triada of specials that had already so much to cover and such high stakes in that sense, which makes it so frustrating for me. Especially since the trailer made it feel like the puppets would be a big part of the episode and they just... weren't? They were used to sideline characters and nothing else, the implications of people being aware or not as puppets (which is a bit unclear because the puppets were done to work however was convenient to the plot, case in point: puppet Amity) and so many things could have been explored but they weren't and it's just... tragic, honestly.
I like the fics that either side-step this plot altogether or use it to the maximum. I think the puppets aren't necessarily bad overall, they just needed more consistency and to actually be used. There are so many interesting possibilities there.
I also wish we had seen Darius and Hunter reunite post Labyrinth Runners. Priorities lmao.
For MP100 I think I'm generally pretty pleased with everything? I know there are things I wish we knew more about, lore and character backstories and stuff between the scenes, but it's mostly me being deranged about background and side characters, not so much something I think it's lacking.
🫐 What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character there’s almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasn’t been written yet, etc.)
For TOH... Eber as part of the Deamonne family! It's thankfully done a lot more after Watching and Dreaming dropped and I'm so happy about that because before we were in the trenches. You cannot convince me that little demon who's attached at the hip to Darius wouldn't be part of the family. They're co-parenting Hunter right beside Darius, it's not even a question, it's a "you adopted a kid? Your kid now? Oh, no, our kid now, you mean."
My obsession with the Deamonnes aside, I really think Skara is underrated, she's so fun as a background character who had an implied redemption arc. Heather McNamara vibes right there lowkey. I wanted to write a fic about that, actually, but it got lost on my huge list of wips, maybe I will at some point because I think it's so interesting and definitely connected to her vonding with Viney, since they seem attached at the hip later on.
For MP100... it's still the background characters. I think it's neat because you usually can find someone obsessed with each character at least, so that's very fun. I just keep getting attached to characters who overall weren't supposed to be that important, you know? The 7th division guys are my little guys. The Awakening Lab kids as well. I think about the Ultimate 5 a normal amount. I'm developing headcanons as we speak, there's just so much. How did they awaken their powers? Why did they join Claw (for those who that applies too)? What were their lives like before? There's so much!!!
Anyway. Thanks for the questions!!! From this ask game 💕
#i wasn't sure what fandom to answer for so i just went with the two i actively have wips for#toh#mp100#ask games

Taking a second to focus on my favorite background bits of this wonderful beautiful gigantic cast picture by Dresden Douglas (their Tumblr is "dresdoodles" give them some love!!! I did not tag them here so I'm not hitting them with a notification full of my stupid observations haha)
Obviously gotta go to Darius & Eber first. Look at the utter disgust upon Darius' face even touching Hooty (or maybe it's directed at Eber for being willing to bite Hooty), meanwhile Eber is bitebiteclawmaim-ing Hooty but despite the claw marks they seem to be ineffective. I wonder how much of Eber's attacking is for his own safety/curiosity vs trying to save his bestie Darius from the Ick™. They're just my favorite "opposites that are besties for life" duo I could talk about these goobers forever
Skara & Viney (& Puddles)! My girls! They're wearing their Emerald Entrails uniforms! Personally I think they're a cute ship but even platonically I love how different they are yet have become their own little duo within the flyer derby team
THE BATTS *hiss*. Katya & Derwin looking at each other & doing the pose like total cuties, meanwhile Amber is making SUCH a face haha. Did anyone else imagine food fanfic chick from s1ep1 would end up fleshed out & important enough to be part of her own little corner of a massive art piece containing most of the show's cast that's hanging in a gallery dedicated to the show?
Gilbert & Harvey Park and Perry Porter, the Dads. So Perry focusing on work still even in this moment is condemnable honestly, dude is tangled in a coil of Hooty & is like "I need to report on this". Meanwhile Harvey has big watery eyes & Gilbert has a soft smile. I love the detail that Gilbert appears to be carrying Harvey, it matches with him being a construction witch (so probably fit) & also it's a funny reflection to Willow with her looking more like Gilbert & also being the Buff™ friend
Mattholomule & his big bro Steve!! Rip Steve this isn't the first time -- or even second time -- Hooty's taken him out, and it probably won't be the last. I love getting the brothers next to each other, helps show how similar they look. Matty is fairing better than Steve but he seems to be struggling himself. That's fair, boys, Hooty is certainly unpredictable
Grandma lesbians made it, good for them
You know that Gwen&Dell are looking at how happy their daughters & grandkids all are, like you know the scene before then is a dream come true kinda soft feeling that they've wanted for their daughters for decades
I love the fond expression on Emira's face looking at Edric, vs the confusion/surprised one on Alador's face. Edric's fine tho look at him he's having fun. Odalia can't even look at her family and is just absolutely scowling, but Kikimora is right beside her so horrible trash women Odalimora canon
You KNOW that Willow fanboy is shouting "WOooOOOooo GO WILLOW" seeing her & Hunter together. I think it's extra funny Boscha is right next to him looking like she's sucked on a lemon with Kat shrugging at Amelia but neither looking surprised by Boscha's antics. (as someone who always hated bos//low it's just such funny staging imo, I know it's probably not that but it's still funny)

ohhhh my hecking heck this was such an awesome episode im screaming holy shit
eda loves her kids sm im cry
also raine loves her so much too look at their faceee (and the subtle eda's requiem/raine's rapsody in the background 🥺)
i also find it hilarious that the guards dont give a shit anymore, they let them through even w that terrible disguise 😅
i... hope this doesnt come and bite us later :/
king hugging the titan bones (his dad?) 🥲
when i tell you i. SCREAMED. STEVE YOU ADORABLE BABY YOU
him and king bonding was definitely not what i expected but i am NOT complaining hes so nice and precious, an absolute cinnamon roll, ...
also him genuinely recommending a therapist to lilith?? that was so wholesome (also- so there ARE therapists on the boiling isles! thats amazing, but can the whole owl fam+hexide go there now? please??)
(also did anyone notice the music here?? the whole sequence was so pretty- if anyone knows where to find the soundtrack...pls let me know)
ow ow ow
ouch
i guess it had to happen though w all the secrecy happening :')
i love their weird friendship so much 😂
they seem to excel in annoying each other and i am HERE for it
and i love how eber always just perches on darius's shoulder 😅
this. eda initiating the hug. for the first... time? i think? (w luz i mean)
and omg the palistern? wood!!! does this mean we get a palisman reveal next ep? im so hypeddd
overall this ep was so good
i also liked that they focused on king's perspective, hes still just a kid who needs his stuffed bunny, and more importantly his family and friends. he doesnt want worship.
lilith, being the a. absolute nerd (affectionate) that she is, and b. conditioned to believe that the titan is basically a god, was obviously the best choice story wise to show this.
at least she acknowledges herself as kings aunt and seems to be learning :)
i am so happy that this ep gave a bit more hope to the absolute emotional wreck the past few episodes were 😅 although the happiness is probably short lived, ill take what i can get 🙃👍🏻

Felt like drawing the coven heads as teenagers as an excuse to come up with some headcanons for them! Obviously they’re not all the same age so they weren’t teenagers at the same time but still.
Obviously Darius and Raine we know about as teens, so they don’t need as much headcanoning, but I think Raine’s parents had a similar vibe to Willow’s in that they pushed them to do well in school and had high standards but also were understanding and wanted them to be happy above all. Darius was close with his father when he was little, but he died young, leaving Darius to be raised by an aunt, who he appreciated but was never as close with.
Eberwolf. Literally raised by dire wolves. Still thinks clothes are kinda dumb. Is technically a biped demon, since they have a bile sac, but hangs out with beasts so much they can communicate with them much better than people thought was possible. They were found in the woods by the prior beastkeeping head who, unlike other witches they’d bumped into, didn’t try to domesticate or ‘rescue’ them, so they liked her and let her introduce them to society. She became the first beastkeeping head witch to retire peacefully, handing the mantle to Eber, when every prior one had been eaten.
Mason didn’t figure out he’s a guy til college, a headcanon I believe solely because “Mason” is way too on-the-nose of a name so he definitely picked it after he already knew what he wanted to do with his life. He seems stoic but he’s actually a huge family man and softie at heart, and will do anything for his army of kids and niblings. He went to one of the other, unnamed schools that appear as uniforms in the background of TTB,K.
Osran has a different number of arms every time you try to count. Most of them are hidden under his robes these days, but back when he was in school uniform most of the time he just kinda. Let them hang out and looked different whenever you blinked. He’s the same type of demon as Kikimora but isn’t related to her. He went to another of the unnamed schools, but ended up teaching at Hexside for a while before becoming Head Witch, and was eternally exasperated with Odalia.
Graye was a Glandus kid, and illusionists have a notoriously rough time at Glandus. He’s a quarter demon, and has a ton of older siblings, most of whom don’t have as many demonic features as he does, none of whom wanted to associate with him at school. He was bullied horribly until he snapped and started fighting back physically rather than trying to use his magic for it, and at that point gained a reputation as a merciless little shit who would break noses and stamp on insteps and bite ears. He really, really loves having authority.
Terra also went to one of the unnamed schools, and she’s always been like this. She’s always been scary. Even her parents were probably afraid of her. At one point I made a joke about the reason she uses Venus flytraps all the time being because her late wife was named Venus Flytrap and she does it in her honour, but I don’t think it’s a joke anymore. Her wife was just as scary as she was. Either one of them would have sold the other out for a corn chip, and that’s exactly how they both liked it.
Hettie is a St Epiderm graduate, and rumours have followed her her entire life about her intentionally injuring and infecting people in order to test out new treatments. Those rumours are entirely true, but good luck ever proving it. Can’t cook for shit, and is incredibly private about her home life; even her classmates never saw her be picked up by parents or anything.
Vitimir is another St Epiderm kid, and was shy as hell in school, holing themselves up in the potions dungeon rather than socializing, which endeared them to their teachers but not to their peers. Once they graduated and went to the Potions Coven college, though, they started to come out of their shell; they’re still not enormously sociable but they’re much more comfortable with that fact. Enormously protective of their potions components, which are always perfectly organized, even though the rest of their room is always a mess. Both their moms have wings, and they didn’t inherit them, and they’re a little grouchy about it.

Freedom Fighters #1
Freedom Fighters #1 DC Comics 2018 Written by Robert Venditti Pencilled by Eddy Barrows Inked by Eber Ferreira Coloured by Adriano Lucas Lettered by Deron Bennett Line up for this all-new maxiseries set on Earth X, where the Nazis won World War II! Twenty years after invading and occupying America, Germany wiped out all metahuman resistance, including the original Freedom Fighters. Fast-forward to the present day, and a new team of Freedom Fighters emerges to challenge the Nazi occupation once again. But if they’re to have any chance of victory, they’re going to need Uncle Sam-who disappeared after his original team was killed. The 12-part epic “Death of a Nation” storyline kicks off here! While the premise of these heroes being on Earth X harkens back to the original run of the team. Though Uncle Sam recruited heroes from “our” Earth to go to that one was the original concept and one I wish had remained if I am honest. Here this is one based off the WB crossover event and I’m not sure how I feel about that right now because I am over the fact that DC is tending to merge their television universe with the comics universe. It really is both a cheap ploy to get fans of the show into comics while teasing long-time fans into grabbing the title too. So if this is going to be based off the show then I hope that characters like Firebrand (Rod), the Red Bee, Magno, Invisible Hood, Miss America and Neon the Unknown are used at some point or at least introduced. I love Robert, his writing is always so gosh darn good and this is no exception. The opening is dynamic, eye catching and definitely attention grabbing. This naturally makes us want to see more and that there are only three members of the original Freedom Fighters alongside Jesse Owens who is a national hero in the eyes of the people. Also to see an army of those who are shown to be their first adversary in this book was beyond delightful. It never fails to amaze me just how darn good Robert is at structuring a story and how strong and powerful the characterisation is. I was taken aback when I saw just how violent and bloody this book was. I know that this is comics but to see that imagery like we did kind of bothered me. Baron Blitzkrieg at least did all that off panel, with the exception of break the Red Bee’s back over his knee (long before Bane was created btw). I suppose that it was really Dollman’s visage that got to me. When we get to the second half of the story the tone and mood changes to something much more normal at least in comics but damn folks let’s try to lighten up on that bloody gore violence. I love Eddy’s pencils he’s got a stellar eye for storytelling and his ability to manipulate the linework through it’s varying weights creating such striking attention to detail is hard to beat. Even through the violent moments it’s all got this amazing detail and it really does affect you. Of course it couldn’t do that without Eber and Adriano. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective is sensational. The way we see backgrounds utilised really expands the story exceptionally well. Adriano deserves his own shout out for the colour work here. They really add that punch that makes the book pop. So I like the idea of what we see here and while we never do see the Ray, he’s mentioned as being gone, and Phantom Lady returns in the second half which makes me happy. Learning how long America has been under the German rule and getting this opportunity to experience the original idea all over again is fantastic! There is hope for this and it really is off to a killer start! With exceptionally good writing, story & plot development, pacing and characterisation and interior art that helps sell books The Freedom Fighters should have this resurgence and it is in the best hands possible.
