hi! what's your favorite pokemon! and do you have a dream team if you were a trainer/gym leader?

This is hands down one of the best questions I have ever been asked in the nearly 13 years that I have been on tumblr. Thank you so much for my life.

Okay, so! There are technically three answers for my favorite pokémon, because I love them all in different ways and so they all qualify. Those answers are:

Charizard: Charmander was my very first partner pokémon way back in 1998, and so the bond that I have with that species -- and in my particular with my main charizard partner, Nova -- is really special. Whenever I step outside on a sunny spring day with a nice breeze, I can't help but be filled with this intense feeling in my chest that it's a perfect day to go flying on a charizard's back. And I know that's silly, but I think it's because I used to pretend I was doing just that when playing at recess way back in the spring of 1998 (and 1999 and 2000 tbh, lol). I actually have a stylized Charizard tattoo to represent my love for Pokémon as a whole, but especially that one, because it'll always be special to me.

Mimikyu: If I picked a pokémon purely on its lore / design alone though, with no prior attachment involved, it would be Mimikyu! I adore absolutely everything about Mimikyu. I love how simultaneously goofy yet unsettling its disguise is. I love that it's an eldritch abomination that causes anyone who looks under its disguise to die a painful death. I love that despite looking like it was just going to be a gimmick pokémon at first, it is actually incredibly viable in competitive play. My favorite memory with my own mimikyu, Lilith, was when she used the Let's Snuggle Forever Z-Move on Archie's Kyogre during the Rainbow Rocket segment in Ultra Sun, and just YEETED that entire Kyogre hundreds of feet away. Truly magnificent. I love her.

Dreepy Line: But my favorite evolutionary line is the Dreepy line, because I love how Dreepy is involved at every single stage. I love how Dreepy looks as though they have no thoughts behind their eyes. I love how Drakloak panic if the Dreepy on their head goes missing and they frantically try to find some other pokémon to put there. And I love how Dragapult shoot babies at mach speed at their opponents. The entire line is just fantastic. 10/10 pokémon for sure. My Dragapult is named Mercury, and she's an angel.

As for my dream teams, you bet I do!! I have both my main six, as well as my Ghost-specialist team. (There is a bit of overlap because I do love those ghosts.) Those teams are:

Main Six: 1.) Nova the Charizard -- Adamant nature. She can mega evolve into Mega Charizard X, she can Gigantamax, and she has a Dragon Tera Type. Her current attacks are Dragon Claw, Thunder Punch, Flare Blitz, and Roost.

2.) Lilith the Mimikyu -- Naughty nature. She has a Ghost Tera Type. Her current attacks are Shadow Claw, Swords Dance, Play Rough, and Shadow Sneak.

3.) Luneth the Umbreon -- Sassy nature. He has a Dark Tera Type. His current attacks are Wish, Swift, Crunch, and Moonlight.

4.) Mercury the Dragapult -- Jolly nature. She has a Dragon Tera Type. Her current attacks are Phantom Force, Dragon Dance, Dragon Darts, and Psychic Fangs. (That last one is temporary until I find something better.)

5.) Artemis the Corviknight -- Quirky nature. She can Gigantamax, and has a Steel Tera Type. Her current attacks are Drill Peck, Iron Head, Bulk Up, and Roost.

6.) Rachel the Ursaluna -- Adamant nature. She's an Alpha Ursaluna and has a Ground Tera Type. Her current attacks are Rest, Swords Dance, High Horsepower, and Hammer Arm.

Ghost Team:

1.) Lilith the Mimikyu -- Same as above

2.) Mercury the Dragapult -- Same as above

3.) Hinoki the Hisuian Typhlosion -- Modest nature. She has a Ghost Tera Type. Her current attacks are Flamethrower, Will-O-Wisp, Calm Mind, and Infernal parade.

4.) Superman the Golurk -- Rash nature. They're shiny! Their current attacks are Dynamic Punch, Earthquake, Shadow Punch, and Stealth Rock.

5.) Nightshade the Gengar -- Lax nature. He's shiny! His current attacks are Venoshock, Dark Pulse, Hypnosis, and Shadow Ball.

6.) Fi the Aegislash -- Brave nature. Her current attacks are King's Shield, Swords Dance, Shadow Claw, and Iron Head.

Once again, thank you so much for asking this, and I'm sorry if I talked too much! I just really love talking about Pokémon, and especially my pokémon in particular . . . particularly since I've had some of them for over a decade now (Nova and Luneth in particular -- they were bred back in X! and I caught Lilith in Sun!), I'm just really attached to them. 💜 Thank you for asking!!

A tag team for Dipper and Mabel Pines from Gravity Falls, requested by Anonymous!

Snubbull - Although it looks frightening, it is actually kind and affectionate. It is very popular among women.

Phantump - These Pokémon are created when spirits possess rotten tree stumps. They prefer to live in abandoned forests. According to legend, medicine to cure any illness can be made by plucking the green leaves on its head, brewing them, and boiling down the liquid.

Dreepy - If this weak Pokémon is by itself, a mere child could defeat it. But if Dreepy has friends to help it train, it can evolve and become much stronger.

Skitty - Skitty is known to chase around playfully after its own tail. In the wild, this Pokémon lives in holes in the trees of forests. It is very popular as a pet because of its adorable looks.

(Shiny) Lechonk - It searches for food all day. It possesses a keen sense of smell but doesn’t use it for anything other than foraging.

Plusle - Plusle always acts as a cheerleader for its partners. Whenever a teammate puts out a good effort in battle, this Pokémon shorts out its body to create the crackling noises of sparks to show its joy.

Details:

To start off, Snubbull and Skitty would be their starters. They probably get them just before they get sent to the shack. Both are common pet Pokemon, and I liked the cat/dog contrast here. Skitty matches well with Mabel’s playful personality and love of cute things, but Dipper struggles with Snubbull. A good portion of his character is concerned with appearing more masculine and mature than he is, and Snubbull’s cute and silly personality contrast with it.

Next up are Phantump and a shiny Lechonk. Phantump kind of represents both the appealing mystery and dangers of the forest, and I think the forest would be filled with Ghost-Types. Lechonk here is obviously a stand-in for Waddles, shiny to appeal enough to Pacifica in terms of rarity, but something Mabel probably wouldn’t even realize until it was pointed out to her.

Finally, Dreepy and Plusle. While Phantump represents supernatural forces and dangers, Dreepy is the physical beasts. While it’s weak, it’s full of potential and grows with its friends, which I thought rounded out nicely. Plusle, meanwhile, is cheerful and optimistic, and supports those around it.

Dante has more dark types than everybody else. This isn't because he actively seeks them out, it's because he treats them far better than most people. They then get attached and just live in the DMC office. This group includes Tyranitar, Houndoom, a Litten, and the wild Galarian Zigzagoon that live in the trash cans. He also gifts the befriended pokemon to his friends sometimes if he thinks they suit them better.

Kyrie's Sylveon ends up having eggs, so she give Dante and Vergil Eevee eggs! They have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Vergil's Eevee is also the first pokemon outside of Salamence he has ever owned, so he's... struggling. They eventually evolve into a very cheery Espeon (D) and a very prim and proper Glaceon (V).

Nero only had Dreepy for a long time, but once he officially joined the Order Credo gifted him a Rookidee. Kyrie helped pick the best one for him, so she was mainly a gift from both of them. Post DMC 5 she's a Corvisquire, but Nero feels like she'll evolve into Corviknight fairly soon.

A Nymble accidentally got hit by the Van once. Nico felt so bad that she nursed it back to health and adopted it. The little thing now hides in random nooks and crannies just to jumpscare Nero at the worst possible times.

One day (a little bit after DMC 3) Lady walked into the office and Dante had a Poochyena hanging out of his arms. He handed it off to Lady, fell onto the couch, and passed out.

Vergil and Nero went on a mission post-DMC5 and found an Electrike that was hurt by demons on the job. Nero ended up taking it home, and Vergil unintentionally used it as an excuse to talk to Nero. Manetric is now a very loyal and good boy, and often ends up in dog piles with Houndoom and an annoyed Glaceon.

Patty found a baby Sandile underneath DMC's floorboards when Dante was in Hell post-DMC2. Dante has absolutely no idea how it got there, but hey, Krokorok gives Patty scary dog privileges so he's cool with it.

Speaking of DMC 2, Lucia's partner is an Absol! She kinda just showed up one day and didn't leave when Lucia was a child.

Gloria introduced her partner as a Liepard, but he is actually a Zorua. Dante gave him to Trish after he caught him stealing his pizza. Trish secretly thought that was hilarious and immediately bonded with the fox over their ability to disguise themselves.

Nina gave Patty a Fidough and she absolutely loves Dante, so much so that Patty has used her as an excuse to visit him. He doesn't mind.

Dante gave Nero a Carvanha alongside the DMC sign when he officially joined the business. Carvanha usually stays at home with Kyrie, and he adores her and the kids quite a lot. Lady congratulated Nero on receiving the official seal of approval for the business. She wasn't talking about the sign.

And finally, the third Nelo battle was much more intense, and a desperate Bagon tried so hard to get his partner back that he evolved in Sheilgon. In the end, it didn't work. Decades would pass before he would come back, but he did in the end. That's all that really matters, to Salamence.

Batman characters get Pokémon time!

Bruce has a Marowak, naturally, since he encountered a Cubone after his parents' death and bonded with it since they emphasized with each other. I think he also has a Delphox evolved from the Fennekin he received as a kid for his starter pokemon.

Batman's public partner, however, is a Noivern.

Dick has a Bolthund, but Nightwing has an Altaria.

Jason has an Mightyena, but Red Hood has a Fearrow.

Damian has a full squad of six "fierce" pokemon (actually super adorable or genuinely baby pokemon). I'm thinking Cleffa, Togepi, Riolu, Munchlax, Eevee, and Rockruff. No thought was put into making this a balanced team. Cuteness only. Damian insists with proper training he can make them a balanced team.

Robin has a Honedge, not that everyone is aware his sword is a pokemon. Bruce definitely isn't, and is currently trying to convince Damian to pick between either his Riolu or his Rockruff to remove from his civilian team and use exclusively as his vigilante partner to protect his identity. But limiting yourself to six pokemon partners is a stupid rule anyway! He should be allowed to have as many as he can provide care and training for, and as the Heir to the Bat and the Demon's Head, he has many resources at his disposal! Once he proves himself capable of managing seven by proving himself as Robin and revealing Honedge, he should easily be able to convince his father to let him take home the Mareep he desperately wants as his eighth!

I really like the idea of the Drakes all having ghost pokemon for no reason other than I like ghost pokemon. But also fossil type pokemon because they definitely dug some up on their trips.

Jack Drake has a Dusclops and an Archeops. Janet has a Froslass and a Bastiodon. (I don't subscribe to Jack and Janet being basically monsters to Tim, I see them more as "would have been a great Aunt/Uncle, but definitely can't and shouldn't be in charge of a child full-time" BUT I picked these pokemon for vibes only and yet, it's interesting that the pokedex entries for both Dusclops and Froslass describe them as having "completely hollow" bodies. Hmm. You could pyschoanalyze the shit out of that.)

Tim also has a full team of 6, because I have too many I want to give him, and he's rich, so he can afford it. He has a Rotom, a Dreepy, a Shuppet, and an Aurorus his parents revived from a fossil for him. (And a Mimkyu, but his parents didn't know about that one.)

Red Robin has a Persian.

Ra's Al Ghul has Rayquaza. And as part of his whole environmental terrorist thing, he is trying to also capture Kyogre and Groudon.

Alfred has Shaymin. Don't ask where he got it, Shaymin's been with him since before he worked for the Waynes.

Stephanie has a Mime Jr. while Spoiler has a Hitmonchan.

Duke has a Chatot, and Signal has a Growlithe.

Barbara has a Gardevoir and a Pichu who was her partner as Batgirl. She doesn't need a separate pokemon as Oracle since she's not in front of the public.

Man the pokemon were so cute together I kinda wish yuuji and sukuna skipped the fight and joined in on the cuddling instead. Who's got time for punching when there's a baby on the way.

“He really couldn’t believe out of all the fools on earth. It was Yuuji Itadori that had to be his.” loved this line so much. Yeah sure kuna how awful for you tell us more about your woes. That handsome kind brave brat sure is the worst, huh?

OK I'm trying to decide which pokemon yuuji would have on his team I'm not much of a pokemon player though so no idea if this team would be good in battle

Dreepy, arctibax, Duraludon, kommo-o, Deino, and of course his dragonite. I think he could also get a Silvally because if he met a type null, they would definitely bond (they're both tailor-made living weapons, not that yuuji would know that). he could give it the dragon type memory. The only downside to yuuji being primarily a dragon type trainer is that I can't put a togepi on his team 😢 or a mew, those two would be so adorable together they are both pink cuties. I'd love to know what pokemon are on both their full teams.

See, I always find it hard to plan out the teams of characters because I'm the sort of person that plays the same dang team in every game every time 83

Also I play a TON of Pokemon Snap because I just wanna take cool pictures of my favorite pokemon! <3

Yuuji has a preference for dragon-types, but I see him getting all sorts of types as a general lover of pokemon! His Dragonite was just a special one he probably has raised since he was very small as the egg was given to him by his pops in my head c: Also dragonites are friendly beans that rescue people at sea...very Yuuji!

I'm sure though the pokemon wished their trainers would stop being so loud and cuddle. Going to set bad example for the baby!

Both Willow and Harper giggled at this adorable display. The little Dragons were happily playing with the Notch. Krak the Dragapult, their father was peacefully napping next to Willow. The ghost specialist was glad the little ones were enjoying themselves and made new friends in Notch. After a while the game was over and officially Notch won it, being declared the "mighty Notch, dragon slayer". Soon Dreepys happily approach Harper, as the squeak excitedly as they still wanted to play.

- "They want you to throw them"- White hair girl couldn't stop chuckled at horrified face of her friend.-" Don't worry it's not something that will harm them. Dreepys naturally like to be throw at high speeds, it's their favourite game. Here look..."

Willow raised her hand and quickly one of the dragons laid in it, stiffing itself to resemble a arrow. Then ghost specialist gently hold it before throwing dragon type with all her strength. Dreepy fly through the air before losing it's speed and flying back to both trainers, happily squeaking for more. Both little ones give Harper puppy eyes. Look like Harper can't refuse now. To calm down her friend Willow would tell all interesting fact in regard to Dreepys and their evolution line.

Willow wanted Harper to...throw her Pokemon?

Was that legal?

Harper looked at the puppy eyes the Dreepy were giving them. Even after Willow's demonstration, it just felt wrong to throw a Pokemon. But it was clear that the little Dragons weren't going to leave them alone until they complied with their playful demands.

So, feeling very awkward about it, Harper put a Dreepy in each hand and threw them as hard as they could. The little Dragons flew a good distance before returning, happily screeching.

Notch saw how much fun the Dreepy were having and grunted at Harper. They gave him an unamused look, "Yeah, I don't think I can throw you, buddy."

I've seen a few people post about how they acquired their Pokémon, so i think i'll join in!

Merlow: He is my first and only traded Pokémon! When i was about 11, me and my friend from Unova did a swap- i got my snivy and gave away a quaxly, which was my actual first 'mon. I hope he's doin' well :] Anyway, i took Merlow with me everywhere, and now he's a wonderful serperior!

Skipper: He's a family boltund, which we had since he was a yamper when our neighbour couldn't keep him. I took him with me to my own place now that i'm older though, so now he's my bestest boy!

Moka: Apparently movin' to a different region warrants a new starter, and i couldn't help but choose Moka, my sobble. She just had the biggest, saddest eyes...

Pyke: The first caught Pokémon, and it was mostly due to his smallness. Moka seemed a bit anxious around my other 'mons, so i caught my Toxel to hopefully ease her- and now they're best friends! :D

Squish: I saw him and fell in love. Snoms are so adorable, i simply had to catch him. I did my research beforehand for any extra care they may need, and i set off to find a snommy for myself.

Marshmallow: She was an accidental find, right after i got Squish! It's not everyday you see a shiny Pokémon, and i couldn't help but try and catch her- which luckily i did!

Onyx: A gift Pokémon from a friend. He is a MASSIVE help when i have my bad days, he's a wonderful taxi and a very calm 'mon :D

Meep: She was a menace!!! Her dreepy self was shoomin' and zoomin' around, causin' a disturbance, so i caught her before Skipper tried anything silly like chompin' at her.

Limo: I have a weakness for mantyke because it's my mom's favorite Pokémon, so i caught her because she reminds me of her :] Mom always gets delighted when she sees Limo!
