i was rewatching IT 2 today and then the scene of richie carving out his and eddie's initials happened and now i can't stop thinking of mike doing the same after the byers and el move to california. just 14 years old mike wheeler coming to terms with his recently discovered feelings for his best friend and going on a ride around town to the places he and will used to go because he misses him like a limb and he can't bear to spend another minute tucked into the basement staring at all of the unsent letters with love, mike written on the bottom and will's drawings pinned up on every wall.

he visits every single place hoping to soothe the monster clawing at his chest at the mere thought of will byers and all that's been left unsaid between them (hell, mike still hasn't gotten around to apologize for that fight and judging by the fact that the byers' phone line is always busy, he might not get to anytime soon) but it doesn't work, it only reminds him of everything he's lost because will isn't there.

by the time he gets to the old kindergarten playground, mike has cried himself hoarse at castle byers' ruins and he doesn't even hesitate when he reaches for the old swingset. i think he carves out their initials somewhere around it, maybe on a tree nearby because what does he have to lose, really? if will is never going to know what he's feeling, if mike can never tell anyone about how much he loves will byers, at least he can do this, where it all began. at least someone in hawkins will look at the old playground someday and know that M loves W and that has to be enough.

an overwhelming majority of the really edgy aus that base themselves on the idea of sans "snapping" seem to work under the impression that there's a proportional relationship between sans' sanity and how many people are killed, so to make things easier, they just go ham with idk 10000 genocide runs and take it for granted that he'd go insane.

when actually, this thing is a bell curve. you kill few enough people? he can continue living his life like he doesn't care about it. you kill everyone? he's finally moved to act and do the right thing to prevent the timeline from ending.
