✧DON’T LEAVE ME || luke castellan x ares fem!reader
summary: when percy gotten back to camp and found out who the true lightning thief was, he was quick to tell y/n who knew what she had to do.
word count: 1645
warnings: angst, breaking up, luke begging for y/n to join his side…no happy ending (only a part one)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
when percy had arrived back to camp, needles to say he made a reputation quicker than anyone did before. not only did he kill a minotaur with its own horn, but he’d managed to finish his first quest in returning the lightning bolt, met four gods and managed to stop a war from happening.
not only did he do that…but he’d managed to find out it wasn’t clarisse who stole the lightning bolt…no, someone he would have never expected at all. and when he found out, y/n was the first to know.
the whole camp in fact knew about y/n and luke. the two were inseparable. since the moment they stepped into camp together they’d never left each other's side. some campers said they would see them holding hands, making out, or just hanging out every minute of every day.
when percy knew he had to tell y/n, he knew what she’d say.
walking into her cabin as she sharpened some of her swords, she looked up at the noise of the floorboards creeping under his foot.
‘oh, percy…what are you doing here?’ she placed the sword down onto the bed and stood up to percy who walked very slowly. she was confused to see him acting like this, like he’d done something wrong.
‘percy what’s going on? did a camper steal your blueberries or something?’ she teased while percy stayed straight faced and quiet. feeling a bit tense he cleared his throat before talking.
‘uhm…y/n there’s something very important i need you to know…something serious…but i don’t want you lashing out. so please just listen to me okay?’ percy talked lowly and slow while y/n nervously laughed and nodded her head in understanding.
‘when we were out on the quest, i’d learned some things about who stole the lightning bolt—‘
‘yeah you said it was my sister—clarisse, right?’
‘yes i know what i said but. seeing that when i got back and chiron didn’t take her out of the camp or get her in trouble…it got me thinking. when me and grover were heading to hades castle, the shoes luke gave us started to pull us to where kronos is held…and when we found clues and hints—‘
‘it was luke…wasn’t it.’ y/n shakily asked while also hoping it wasn’t him at all and this was just some very big mistake. but even percy didn’t deny was when she got her answer.
sighing heavily while closing her eyes she nodded to percy with the understanding of his words and knowledge.
‘luke had mentioned he wanted to get back at the gods for a very long time for what they’ve done and one day he came back to camp acting different…he had something to hide and i didn’t ask or want to know because it wasn’t my place but one day he told me things would change for the better or worse…i just, never thought he’d steal the bolt…’ y/n looked at the ground with her eyes watering with tears while trying to hold them from falling in front of percy.
out of all of the ares kids y/n was probably more of a athena or apollo child out of ares. she was much kinder, open with her emotions—sometimes—-and didn’t feel the overbearing need to be better than everyone—in some things.
she was hard on percy only when it came to things she knew he could do…she was difficult to understand because she kept her thoughts closed off. she was very stern, stubborn, confident and sometimes cocky. but she never let that get in the way of how she was as an individual. she let her siblings go after their father but she? wanted to be more like her mom.
standing in front of percy who happened to somehow grow a bit taller over his quest, the two of them being eye to eye. y/n felt her heart pounding rapidly against her chest.
‘i’ll…i’ll be right back. don’t go anywhere. go to the celebration and stay there with annabeth and grover, okay?’ she instituted percy who nodded slowly but let her leave.
ㆍ୨୧ㆍ
as y/n had been walking into the forest to clear her mind, she was unknowingly followed by luke who had caught her form and tried to call out to her only for her to not answer.
he had been watching her as she placed her hand against head—she’d been thinking of something important that was stressing her—she stopped and took a deep breath—she was hesitant—her shoulders shaking a bit he knew she was crying.
‘y/n?’ he mumbled loud enough for her to hear. turning around to see luke, she inhaled sharply and cleared her throat.
‘luke, hey. what are you doing here? i thought you were going to the celebration?’ she asked. straightening her back to come off as she didn’t just almost cry in the middle of the forest as embarrassing that would be.
‘oh…yeah, i was i just saw you and tried to call out for you but you never answered so…’ he lightly smiled while she nodded her head slowly. seeing through him and seeing through that smile that almost for percy, grover and annabeth killed.
‘yeah, well i just wanted to be alone for a while…so you can go—‘
‘no, i’ll stay here with you, and we can talk about whatever is bothering you—‘
‘no luke! leave, leave me alone okay? i don’t want to talk to you right now okay? please…please just leave me alone’ y/n places her hands together as a pleading motion while closing her eyes.
luke sadly looked at y/n with his heart being pulled into different directions. he was hurt that she wanted him to leave, he was hurt she didn’t want to see him, he was hurt she wanted to be left alone and he was confused as to why.
‘what did i do?’ he calmly asked. his sad eyes watching y/n who had inhaled sharply with annoyance.
‘luke…leave me alone—‘
‘no! why? why don’t you want to talk to me? why don’t you want to be with me—what did i do? why can’t we just talk—‘
‘because you stole the lightning bolt and almost killed my friends!’ y/n yelled on the top of her lungs. the anger held in her eyes had resembled her father so much he almost couldn’t tell them apart.
his heart dropped when she said what she had said and he almost lost it. how did she know? why does she know? who told her this—where did she hear this?
‘but clarisse—percy, annabeth and grover said it was her why would it be me…’ he watched her eyes as she rolled them and placed her hands over her face to bring her anger down to a reasonable level.
‘luke…you’ve told me you always wanted to get back at the gods for a while now. you said one day they’d see us, one day the world would change? percy has met hades who’s almost told him everything he needed to hear…you, are a liar—‘
‘no…’ luke shook his slowly while slight tears welled in his eyes. the fireworks behind the two of them showing red behind y/n and a blue behind luke.
‘yes luke! you lied! you almost got people killed and you almost killed kids at that!’
like she didn't quit almost quickly while y/n shook her head in anger. her eyes burning with tears as his did as well.
seeing there was no way out of this he sighed and gave up—‘i didn’t know he’d give them to grover to wear…’ luke helplessly sighed while the tears in his eyes grew bigger almost dropping from their holding stage.
y/n felt her heart clutch and her eyes well as she heard his words. suppressing any words to come from her mouth that might cause any other trouble she closed her eyes as her nose scrunched in anger.
‘y/n please—‘
‘no! you can’t say that and expect me to trust you luke—i’ll never trust you again! i’ll never put my faith into you! you have lied and you have lost! you don’t belong here anymore luke go!’ she yelled her anger boiling to the surface. that sweet side of her mom is no longer present and replaced with her father.
‘y/n…you don’t mean that…you can’t mean that; don’t you understand it was a mistake—‘
‘what a mistake was believing the lies you’ve told me for years on end and letting you sit on a throne in my life.’ y/n mutters as luke stepped in front of her. when she saw this she was quick it draw her sword as it touched the tip of his adam’s apple. looking down at it, luke gulped a bit and looked into y/n’s eyes to see no softness in them.
‘y/n please…please, please, please don’t do this. don’t leave me alone—your all i have!’
‘stop it luke! just stop! i can’t believe what you say anymore! you almost hurt the ones i love and the one you call family—‘
‘i never meant to do that! can’t you understand im trying to make this a better place…a better world for all of us..for you…’ he trailed off; his tear dropping and rolling down his cheek as y/n’a held no emotion, only anger written on her face.
breathing heavily, y/n let her eye twitch before letting the worse of her take over, aggressively pushing her sword down as it cut a bit of luke’s stomach. wincing in pain as he looked up at her and down at the open wound; he looked at her once more with tears in his eyes to recognize a y/n he’s never met before.
before he could say anything was when percy arrived.

Bad dreams (Percy x reader)

Capture the flag. It was a game of epic highs and lows, winner and losers, all to decide who wore the crown. Until next week, that is. And nobody took it more seriously than Annabeth, determined to win and keep her indestructible reputation as the best strategist around. She was in the war room, taking this very seriously, and discussing with her right hand man before the team.
Percy groaned, dramatically dropping his head on the table, half pushing off the map. “Annabeth, why?” He complained, hand waving in the air to communicate the distain that she couldn’t see in his face.
Annabeth sighed, taking her head in her hands. “I know you don’t like them,” she started calmly, crossing the floor to Percy to pat his back gently. “But the Hypnos cabin is an asset, between all of them, we can have half the enemy team asleep,” she said, ever pragmatic.
Percy was not a fan of her reasoning, as sound as it was. Unfortunately for him, the head counsellor of the Hypnos cabin was you. And You and Percy? He didn’t even want to think about. No idea why you decided not to like him upon meeting, even less of an idea how it’s escalated as far as it has. “Wise girl, have mercy,” he whined, standing up straight again. “Putting me in a room with them is a sure fire way to lose.”
Annabeth pursed her lips. “That might be true,” she started, circling the table, eyes the pieces she set dramatically to represent each of her forces. One or two Hypnos campers per squad to weaken the enemy. “But they’re essential to the plan, just… you’ll be in different areas, if all goes well.”
Percy grumbled. Things never went well.
As the battle drew closer, the allied cabins assembled to hear the more polished version of Annebeths plan. And of course, that meant you at the table, front and centre, your forces being an essential part of the strategy. Great. You always listened to Annabeth, even though she was always sticking up for him. And she managed to get you on the same team, even when you knew that guy you hated would be there.
You nodded along with the details, assigning siblings you thought best for each task. You seemed a lot nicer with them.
You conferred with your cabin, and offered another plan to Annabeth. Percy wasn’t completing focused, because when you were done, he had no idea what you’d said. Annabeth seemed to be a fan though. She nodded along, and adjusted the prices on her map while you have people notes and alternate delegations.
An order to each cabin head. All except him. He glanced around at each counsellor telling their cabin mates what they should do, and he cringed. You’d instructed everyone else. “Uh,” he started looking to you because Annabeth was busy talking to the Apollo counsellor. “Does my job change at all?”
You pursed your lips, smiling just slightly. “No, I guess I didn’t have anything for you,” you said slyly. “But isn’t jumping in without thinking kind of your whole thing? Just roll with that, yeah?”
Percy’s face flattened as he sighed. He needed somebody else, “Annabeth?” He asked.
She turned to him, and thought for a moment. “They might have a point,” she said curiously, much to his detest. Percy grumbled as she continued. “Using you as a wild card might be beneficial, especially because you can take large groups of them at once.”
Great. No job, and more work, somehow. And you were smiling, a bit too satisfied with yourself and his annoyance. Why was it always like this?
                                             …
There was one time when Percy was sparring with Clarisse, and they got a little too heated, and it ended up with Clarisse on Pegasus cleanup duty, and Percy teaching sword classes for a week. Definitely the lighter punishment, considering he liked the job. Chiron always went a little easy on him. But there were layers to this punishment. Primarily: you.
When Percy was approaching, he saw you, and sighed. You were there first, already talking to the younger campers, wide smile on your face and holding a weapon. Ugh. Of course he had the misfortune of fucking up the same time as you. Okay. This week was actually going to be terrible.
“Hey, sorry I’m late,” he said, jogging up to you and the campers. You’d just finished some sort of introduction, it was the perfect time to slide in. The youngest kid looked maybe ten, and had a dagger in her hand. She was little small for the real swords. The kids were looking up at him, faces blank or curious, and you were side eyeing him, brow raised, completely unimpressed. Yeah, he should probably do something interesting.
“Yeah, you sure were,” you laughed sarcastically, sounding just nice enough for the kids not to pick up on your distain.
Percy grimaced. Great start. With a deep breath, he did  his best to recover, running his hands through his hair nervously. “Well, I’m here now, so,” he said, looking at the younger campers. Grinning, and ignoring your cold stare, he uncapped Riptide, and a few kids gasped. “How about we get to the fun stuff?”
He spared you a glance, catching you roll your eyes at him. This was not going to be a good week. Quite possibly the worst punishment Chiron could’ve given him.
It’s hard to teach as a team when you can’t get along  for a second. And all the kids noticed, and did their best to egg you on. Percy was fighting for his life harder than he had on several quests, until the very last minutes of the time slot. Thank the gods it was only like, an hour. Even if it was one of the longest hours of his life.
And he wasn’t even spared when it was over.
“Of course we fucked up on the same week” you sighed, picking up a carelessly discarded sword. “Let me guess, something boring…” you started, walking idly toward the weapons rack with a handful of blades. “Like what, blowing up the bathroom again? Or sneaking out of camp for a quest?”
Hmm. Low blow. Though not completely unwarranted. “No, much cooler than that,” Percy sighed, rolling his eyes as he kicked up some dust from the arena floor. “Beating up Clarisse.”
You scoffed, “somehow I doubt that.”
And you weren’t exactly wrong. It was more of a mutual beating up, in a sort of frenemy way, Percy was the first to admit. But not to you. “Hey, you should see her,” he chided. “There’s cold hard proof.”
You bumped his shoulder on the way out of the arena, sighing. “Maybe I will, I could get some tips on kicking your ass,” you said, raising your brow.
By the time he thought of a good-ish response, you were too far away to hear, and he was kicking himself for letting you get the last word. He glanced around the empty arena dumbly. It looked like you finished the cleanup while he just stood there, another point you had on him now. The punishment may not have been a competition, but you seemed to be winning thus far. Shit.
And it only gets worse from there.
He managed to come early the second day, a full fifteen minutes to get warmed up, and think about what could be good to teach the newbies. And he had the arena all to himself to slash dummies in the exact way he’d instruct them to do later.
“Clarisse told me Chiron intervening is all that saved you from getting sent to the infirmary,” you said.
Percy jumped, Riptide nearly falling out of his hand. When the fuck did you get here? He hadn’t heard you at all. Sneaky bitch. He turned to face you when he recovered from his shock, “yeah, well, she couldn’t admit she lost a fight if there was a gun to her head.”
You didn’t look sold. You raised your brow, “could you?”
He pursed his lips. He wanted to say something like, yes, duh! But quickly realized it might be a lie. To most people he could, but admitting defeat to you felt much worse. Like it would confirm all your doubts or apprehensions about him, or whatever your grudge was. He decided a little lie wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. “I could,” he said casually, slashing a combat dummies head.
He didn’t see your face as you hummed lowly with disapproval. Probably for the better.
Or so he thought, because as you were walking towards the dummy beside his, he started to feel drowsy. His slashes got slower as his arms felt heavier, like they were weighing him down. He looked at you, and immediately wanted to lie down and pass out. Ugh.  Your subtle smirk told him you knew exactly what you were doing. And it only escalated when the kids started to arrive.
You started the lesson off assertively. While he was struggling to blink with his heavy eyelids. “If you have any cool demigod abilities, you should totally use them literally whenever you can,” you said, pointing your weapon enthusiastically at the campers.
Percy couldn’t help but watch in slight awe as you engrossed them all. You narrowed in on a son of Apollo,  your blade staring him down as you told him he should get comfortable using healing abilities in a fight. You seemed to have a suggestion for everyone; the daughter of Hectate should use the mist, a Demeter kid should try and use vines, your Hypnos brother should use… sleep powers. Percy knew about those all too well.
Percy had to admit he was jealous of the way they seemed excited about your ideas. Did they really like you more than him? It wasn’t that he felt bad not being liked, he was plenty used to that in all the schools he went to. It was more that it was you. The way you showed a nicer side to seemingly everyone but him. His body still felt like it was made of lead.
You had some blind spots though. Not everyone had powers, Percy guessed, watching a couple Athena kids rolling their eyes or looking at the ground. “I hate to interject,” Percy started, stealing your and the kids attention again. “But this is weapons training, there are other classes for using abilities.” Plus, maybe you’d stop using yours if they got back on focus.
”Hey, I’m teaching them how to fight better, isn’t that the goal?” You shot back. You seemed to catch the way his eyes were lingering on the kids without abilities. “Even if you don’t have any specific powers,” you said, turning back to the campers, “if we start using them, you’ll learn how to counter them, and kick our asses better.”
Percy sighed. You seemed pretty stuck on this. He tiredly uncapped Riptide, and pointed at it. “Weapons class, Y/n. Let’s focus on using weapons,” he said.
You shifted your lips around, maybe chewing on them, and then seemed to have a thought. Unfortunately. You smiled at the kids, “yeah, well, Percy doesn’t always use his abilities to the fullest when he fights,” you said. “Maybe don’t take his lead too much.”
Ugh. “Well, it’s not always as easy as some people make it look,” he said, gesturing at you. “Not everyone has powers, and some people get drained easily by theirs. For me, I can’t always rely on there being water around me.”
You crossed your arms, raising your brow, and actually looked at him this time. “You know what people are made of, right?”
The kids were listening intently, some snickering and smirking to themselves. A couple seemed annoyed that the training was paused just so the teachers could bitch at each other. Percy sighed, “yeah, no, I don’t want to do that. I think that was an episode of Avatar: the last airbender.”
You rolled your eyes, scoffing. “Well you might win more fights if you did,” you said snidely. Your eyes lowered a moment as you lowered your voice with a bitter tone, “I hate the idea of you going easy on me.”
Before Percy could respond with a retort of his own, you’d dropped the mean act and completely focused on the kids, upbeat and happy. You clapped your hands together, and shot them a wide smile, “how about a demonstration, guys?”
Aw shit. The kids lit up, nodding along as you continued. “How about me and Percy have a little match, and we see who wins, yeah?” You said, grinning at him. Ugh. It wasn’t a secret that people said he was the best swordsman at camp, but you were a head counsellor too. And even if he could stab you, he probably shouldn’t in front of the kids anyway.
He had started to tune you out, but got snapped back to reality when he heard his name. “Percy, are you down?” You asked with faux sweetness. Ugh. Percy sucked a breath in through his teeth, and sighed. “Uh-Sure,” he said cautiously.
You grinned, and the kids stepped back and whispered to each other. Yeah, they definitely picked up on your rivalry. They waited restlessly, probably excited to see the climax of your mutual dislike. Like the fight was inevitable. He uncapped Riptide with a sigh, and raised the blade as you shooed the kids to step further back. He took a fighting stance, raising his blade at the ready. Just great. Your aura of tiredness or whatever was affecting him seemed to get worse. Yeah, he might be fucked without water.
You smirked, twirling a weapon of your own between your fingers and glancing at your audience happily, chest puffed out in self satisfaction. “Do you want to count us down?” you asked the kids, grinning.
They nodded along, three, and Percy sighed, eying the water bottle he had off to the side. If he could get it then maybe... whatever. Maybe if he beat you, you’d lay off. Two. Or, if you won, you could get ten times worse. One. There was no good outcome. And it’s not like either of you could maim each other with the kids watching.
Ugh. Still weighed down by an impossible spell of drowsiness, Percy started to lunge forward, sword ready to slash in an arc above his head. But then he looked at you. And you looked at him. And you were shooting him a finger gun, and Percy was out cold, without enough time to grumble or complain about it. Well shit.
Like most times he slept, he was dreaming. Nightmares, specifically. At least he felt no godly presence, or anything sinister. Today, it was Annabeth and Grover dead on the floor, with Kronos in Luke’s body glaring at him from the sidelines. And then it was just Luke, looking at him sadly, approaching him, and then asking why he let his sister die. Percy didn’t have an answer.
Nightmare Luke wasn’t a fan of that. Suddenly he was turning back into Kronos and raising Backbiter, and Percy was completely unable to move, paralyzed by fear, sadness, and bitter anger. Great. Just great.
But Luke didn’t swing. He stopped, eyes cloudy and blank, and the bodies faded away. Was his subconscious being nice today? Luke stepped back, and his sword has vanished, and the scene was fading fast.
Percy was awake. He grumbled, not wanting to open his eyes. His head was in the dirt, body completely weighed down by his own exhaustion. The arena floor wasn’t the worst place he could’ve fallen, at least. He grumbled, sat up, and rubbed his eyes until they opened.
You were still there, Percy’s eyes flew open, shaking any lingering tiredness. He scooted back just slightly. You were sitting beside him, head rested in hands and lips pursed. “Uhh,” he stuttered, scooting back further. “You’re uh, still hanging out here?” A quick glance showed the kids were gone, and the lesson had been over for a while.
”You have some of the worst nightmares I’ve seen, dude,” you said simply, shifting your head from hands to hand. “I’m… sorry, I didn’t- I didn’t mean to snoop.”
Percys brow furrowed. What? You looked apprehensive, but your words didn’t seem malicious in the slightest. He stopped scooting back, but he held his arm up defensively between you, unsure why. You didn’t have a weapon. “It’s… fine. Was it you that… ended it?” He asked tentatively.
You nodded. “It didn’t seem fun,” you said quietly. You looked away, hiding your face in a palm, “Sorry for putting you in there, I guess,” you said. “I’ll try to avoid sleeping you, if you want.”
Percy looked at you quizzically, jaw hung slightly open, more than confused. You were being nice. That’s crazy. He wasn’t sure how to act. Every word he said was laced with hesitation and the slightest bit of a stutter. “Thanks, I guess,” he mumbled, scratching the back of his neck. “Appreciate it.”
You nodded, and a slightly sealed silence fell over the woods as you refused to look at him. But you didn’t stand up to leave yet either.
“Hey, Y/n, can I ask,” he started, sitting up straighter and crossing his legs. “Usually you hate me…” he said, almost wincing. “Do you… not, today?”
That got your attention, and your eyes were burning through him. Your brow furrowed, and softened, your mouth opened and then closed, you looked away, then back at him, and then sighed. “I don’t hate you, Percy,” you admitted, sounding abjectly defeated.
That got an involuntary “huh?” Out of him. You totally hated him. That was just a fact.
You sighed, and shook your head, turning back away from him. You tone was far lighter this time, “no, I don’t hate you, I just- I don’t know,” you said.
”Then why-“ Percy started dumbly, but quickly trailed off, unsure how to make his question less rude. There didn’t seem to be an obvious answer. “Why are you like this,” he asked, cringing at his own callousness.
You snickered, looking at him with a slight and awkward smile. You shrugged, and looked back at the woods. Percy didn’t speak, he barely breathed, waiting for any sort of a signal from you. Somehow, it worked. You sighed , and stretched your legs in front of you and said, “I don’t know.” You paused, probably thinking. “It just comes naturally, I guess.”
Percy hummed.
“That came out mean, didn’t it,” you laughed softly.
“Like most things you say,” he laughed, but quickly trailed off. “Sorry.”
You smiled hesitantly, looking over at him with softer eyes than he usually sees on you. “No, that was deserved,” you said.
Percy smiled, and then raised his brow, surprising himself. That didn’t happen when he talked to you, this was fresh territory. Before he could respond, you were standing, and for the first time, offering him a hand up. And for the first time, he took it.
You pulled him to his feet, but didn’t look at him, curtly turning your head away as he stood in front of you. Percy couldn’t help but snicker under his breath. You seemed intent on staring at a tree.
”Hey,” Percy started, brushing his hair out of his face. “Do you wanna go get on the same page about what we’re teaching them tomorrow so we don’t have a repeat of today?” He asked. He got a little scared when you finally looked at him, but you didn’t seem angry. And if anybody knew your angry face it was him. “We’ll probably be better teachers if we actually work together on it.”
You hesitated, raising your brow. “Uh, really?” You stuttered, crossing your arms and shrinking into yourself.
Percy sighed. He was doing this, he’d committed now. For better or worse. “Yeah,” he nodded, with a friendly smile. “Why not? Let’s go get lunch or something.”
Percy wasn’t sure how well his olive branch was working. Your lips were pursed and arms still crossed, but.. the ever so familiar scowl you often showed him was absent from your lips. That could be good. You looked at the ground, then back to him, “yeah, okay.”
And here he was braced for rejection and an insult. Small victories. Percy grinned, nodding his head in the general direction of the dining pavilion, “then let’s go.”
You nodded, and walked quietly beside him as he started for the path. Okay, a little awkward silence was nothing, that was still a win. Miles better than where he was this morning. Or even like, an hour ago. So Percy was inclined to try and bridge the gap. “The kids are gonna be really surprised when we actually work together, tomorrow,” he laughed. Careful words, when, not if.
He caught in his peripheral the tug of your lips upward into the slightest of smiles. “They’ll never see it coming,” you said. Maybe like a joke. Wow, was this actually working? You let out a small laugh, “neither did I.”
Percy but the inside of his cheek to suppress a smile. That made two of you, because this was the last thing Percy expected too. “Yeah,” he started. “Not bad though.”
For the first time in a good minute, you met his eyes, and his attention was drawn. You didn’t normally look at him like that. It was a… nice change pace. You sighed, “No, not the worst.” You swished your cheeks around a moment as you paused, but didn’t say more. And Percy would be lying to himself if he tried thinking he wasn’t a little disappointed. It almost looked like you were gonna say something nice. Well, maybe not the worst was nice enough. For you, at least.
”Percy, I’m really sorry about those nightmares,” you said finally, looking at the ground.
Ah. That. Percy didn’t tell all that many people about his shit dreams. It was kind of a given that most people at camp got them, in some capacity at least. But he did his best to project a lighthearted image, especially when he was with the younger campers. “Oh,” he said dumbly.
“If you want, I can help with those,” you offered quietly.
Now that caught Percy’s attention. He raised his brow, “You can do that?” And he didn’t ask his other question: you would do that? Like, for him?
You looked up at him, then back to the ground as the two of you approached the dining pavilion. “Yeah, Hypnos stuff,” you mumbled. “I do it for some other people too.”
Oh gods, you felt bad for him. That was a weird thought. “Oh- you don’t have to do that,” he started, suddenly far more embarrassed. So that’s why you were being nice. Suddenly it didn’t feel as good as before.
You looked up at him with wider eyes now, and bit the inside of your cheek. “Well, if you ever change your mind.”
Something about your pity didn’t sit right with him, even if was glad you didn’t look like you wanted to bite his head off. This look, the feeling sorry for him face, was somehow worse. “I won’t,” he snapped, sounding meaner than he meant. Or maybe he did mean it, in his bitterness he couldn’t tell. “You don’t need to pretend to like me now that you feel bad.”
You brow furrowed, and that pity look was gone in an instant. “Hey asshole, I was just offering to help,” you spat. Now this was more familiar. You crossed your arms at your chest as you walked. “Thought about being nice for once.”
”Yeah, for once,” he said, rolling his eyes. “Because now you feel bad.”
”Oh shut up,” you said, shaking your head with a glare. You stopped just short of the pavilion. “You aren’t special because you get nightmares, idiot, half the camp does,” you said, stepping closer to him. He was inclined to back away. “I’ve seen worse.”
Percy took another step back. There was a few stray campers sitting in the pavilion watching curiously, now.
“But sure, go ahead,” you said, hands animating with your words. He flinched a moment as you halfway gripped the air. “Keep having your shit dreams, I don’t care.”
“Then why did you offer,” he spat back.
You looked at him like he was an idiot, shaking your head. “Because nightmares suck, nobody deserves that shit,” you said, like it was obvious. “Not even a stuck up asshole who thinks he’s better then everyone.”
What? Percy stood dumbly for a moment while your sharp glare subsided into a duller scowl. Did he really come off like that? “I’m not-“ he started, but quickly gave up. As much as he wanted to insult you back, half the things you said were genuinely pretty nice. You were right, nobody deserved that.
You scoffed, “sure you’re not,” you said bitterly.
The two do you stood silently for a moment. And a few moments more. The couple of campers watching awkwardly tried to go back to eating. The lunch plans the two of you made seemed so far in the past now. Same with the idea of getting in the same page.
Percy spoke first. “I don’t- I don’t think like that,” he said lamely.
”No, you’re just the hero of Olympus, who goes on all the quests, who the gods tried to give immortality too,” you said. But the malice was gone. “You’re the reason I even have a cabin here,” you said quietly.
Percy winced. How do you explain to somebody that going on all those quests… wasn’t always great. It stopped being amazing when more lives were at risk, the stakes got higher, people died. A lot of the time all the glory kind of sucked. “Well it’s… not all it’s cracked up to be,” Percy managed. “I mean, you saw the aftermath.”
”Yeah,” you said, looking at the ground. “That’s why I thought.. you might not be how I thought.” You looked up, expression made of stone. “But at least you’re… I don’t know,” you trailed off, “I think I’d still rather be somebody, even if it sucks.”
Percy half heartedly laughed through his nose, “Usually I feel the opposite, it would’ve been easier to be a kid of some minor god.”
”Grass is always greener, I guess,” you sighed.
“You are somebody, though,” Percy said, realizing he should probably address that. The idea that you were insecure seemed so alien. The way you insulted him always seemed so confident. “You don’t need a ton of quests or fights to prove that.”
You rolled your eyes, a weak smile was forming on your lips, “well, that’s easy for you to say. I’m only here, and claimed, and in a cabin because you made the gods pay their child support.”
Percy smiled softly, gesturing his head to the tables at the pavilion. He started to walk as he spoke, “that’s the gods, that’s their problem,” he said, grabbing a plate to fill with the magic food with you behind him. “You’re more then the gods approval.”
He had to look back to see if you were still there, the way you went quiet. You grabbed a plate, and followed him to a table, all with that stone faced look. Not pity or malice, this time. When you sat down beside him, you finally cracked. “Thanks,” you managed, staring ruefully at your food.
“It’s true,” Percy said.
You looked up at him, a slight smile on your lips this time. “Thanks,” you said, more confidently.
“Are you still up for helping me with the nightmares?”
Tumblr media
This request haunted me for like over a month cuz I couldn’t get anything out of it for a while. I wasn’t gonna post here but I ended up happier with it then I thought tho. Can you tell I never write enemies to lovers? I usually hate that trope lmao. Anyway part 2 coming maybe.

Love Story
percy jackson x fem! daughter of eos! reader
use of y/n
fluff, angst, songfic
▶︎ •၊၊||၊|။|||| : love story, taylor swift 🎧ྀི♪⋆.✮
Tumblr media
We were both young when I first saw you
I close my eyes and the flashback starts
I'm standing there
On a balcony in summer air
You stood on the porch of cabin 11, observing the new camper as he walked through the grass near cabin 3. You had just returned from your quest a little over a month ago and hadn’t had the chance to meet the prophesied savior.
See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns
See you make your way through the crowd
And say hello
The campfire’s glow and the sound of happy singing flew through the air. The boy approached your saying, “Hi, I’m Percy, son of Poseidon,”
You smiled and stuck a hand out for him to shake, “Y/n. Daughter of Eos, who unfortunately has no cabin.”
He smiled back and shook your hand.
Little did I know
That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles
And my daddy said, "stay away from Juliet"
And I was crying on the staircase
Begging you, please, don't go
Some of the other campers had told him to stay away from you. They said you were evil and would turn him evil. He told you, asking if it was true and you had broken down and begged him not to leave you. You could not bear to lose another person.
And I said
"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting, all that's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story, baby just say yes
“Percy, I can't stay here. They all hate me!” You had expressed one night while in his arms.
“I know, angel. We’ll find a way out somehow, I promise,” He reassured, holding you close.
So I sneak out to the garden to see you
We keep quiet ’cause we're dead if they knew
So close your eyes
Escape this town for a little while oh oh
'Cause you were Romeo, I was a Scarlet letter
And my daddy said "stay away from Juliet"
But you were everything to me, I was begging you, please, don't go
You snuck out to a cave on the edge of the lake, a secluded area covered with vines. It was your safe spot. Five years had passed now and Percy had defeated Kronos, fulfilling the prophecy. The two sat in the quiet embrace of each other, discussing how they would one day make it out. Chiron had joined in the “keep Percy away from Y/n” club and now they could only see one another in secret.
And I said Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting, all there’s left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story baby just say yes
“I’ll be waiting. All we have to do is run far from here. Please just say yes, Perce” you whispered to him. He thought it over and gave a nod, sealing the deal with a searing kiss filled with love for one another.
Romeo save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel
This love is difficult, but it's real
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess
It's a love story, baby just say "yes"
Oh, oh
Someone had told you that you didn’t deserve love and the rest of the camp had joined in. you told him that when they met each other in the dark of night that evening.
He told you in response, “I promise I’ll get us out of here one day, my love,” with a kiss.
But I got tired of waiting
Wondering if you were ever coming around
My faith in you was fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town
You were tired. Another two years had gone by and they were both nineteen. Percy had gone through hell and participated in another war and prophecy. You had forced your way onto the ship when the demigods went to retrieve Percy from the Roman camp. When you saw him for the first time in eight months standing proud amongst the Romans, he had looked confused until he met your eyes.
And I said
"Romeo save me, I've been feeling so alone
I keep waiting for you but you never come
Is this in my head? I don't know what to think"
You ran into his arms and he held you for what felt like hours, but was only minutes.
“Percy, is this all in my head? I felt so alone. I keep waiting for you but you never come, even before this,” You told him as they pulled away from each other.
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said
"Marry me, Juliet, you’ll never have to be alone
I love you and that's all I really know
I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress
It's a love story, baby just say yes"
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
In response, Percy knelt to the ground and pulled a beautiful ring from his pocket. It had a gleaming silver band with a blue sea glass gem and two small obsidian pieces on either side.
“Marry me, Y/n. You’ll never be alone again. I love you and that’s really all I know. I talked to Chiron and your mother before all of this memory loss crap happened. Go pick out a white dress, it’s our love story, angel, just say yes.”
“Yes. Of course, I’ll marry you,” You said with no hesitation, allowing him to slide the ring on your finger and kissing him like it was your last chance.
Because we were both young when I first saw you

Clarisse’s Girl
Warings: bulling, threats
Tumblr media
It was my first day at camp, I had no clue who anyone was besides Mr. D, Chiron and Grover. Everything was sort of a blur, one minute I was with my mom telling me my father was a god then the next she was gone. Killed by some monster. I don’t remember exactly what Grover had called it.
I was snapped out of my daze when a guy snapped his fingers in my face. I looked up to see a guy dark black curls and dark brown eyes.
“Your Y/N , right?” He asked looking down at me.
“Yes I am, uh, sorry I don’t know who you are.” I reply back looking away from him.
“I’m Luke. I’m a camp counselor here, Chiron asked me to show you around camp.” He said a soft smile. “ Follow me I’ll show you around.” He said waving me to follow him.
“This over here are the cabins, you’ll be staying in the Hermes cabin for now, the cabin I’m also in. It’s we’re all new campers come until there godly parent claims them.” Luke explains to me pointing off each godly parents cabin.
“Hey Luke?” I ask, touching his shoulder to get his attention.
“Yes?” He says, turning around to face me.
“Who’s that girl over there?” I ask pointing towards a tall girl with long dark curly hair, who’s already staring back at us with a angry look.
“Oh, her, that’s Clarisse daughter of Ares. God of war. I’d stay away from her, she likes to show off to the new kids.” He says until a kid runs up to him interrupting him.
“Luke! A Hermes kid needs your help, a girls arrow slipped and cut her arm!” A girl no much more then 11-13 says, grabbing his arm to show him where.
“Well I guess will have to cut our tour short, you should be fine just ask another camper if you can’t find me. We’ll see you around Y/N!” Luke says as him and the girl run off to we’re in guessing the archery place was.
I turn away and start walking towards the girls bathroom to escape everyone else, without noticing someone following me in. I walk up to sink looking into the mirror I see someone behind me, I turn around to see a girl. I hadn’t seen this girl before she had blonde hair and green eyes.
“Uhm, hi. Can I help you?” I ask her.
“Yes you can. You see I saw you getting pretty touchy with Luke earlier and I hope you know me and him are dating.” She says when too more girls enter the bathroom to.
“I promise you I don’t like Luke like that, I was just trying to get his attention-“ I say back before one the girls comes up and grabs my arms and the blonde girl comes up and slaps me.
“So you were trying to get his attention. Well he doesn’t like you! He likes me!” She says then slaps me again. “You too go shove her face in a toilet.” She orders them. The too girls start taking me over to a open stall and make me kneel down in-front of a toilet.
“McKenzie what the fuck do you think your doing?!” A new girls voice appears.
“I was just showing her not to flirt with my boyfriend!” The girl whose name I know McKenzie says.
“All of you leave now! Or it won’t be pretty.” The girl threateneds and then suddenly the girls holding my arms drop them and all the girls run off.
I slowly stand up walking out the stall looking at the floor. “Thank you- uh for that.” I say looking up to the girl from earlier- Clarisse. “You’re the girl from earlier, Clarisse?” I say a small gasp on my face.
“I am. I’m guessing Luke told you about me. And you’re welcome for me saving your ass. You could really use a lesson of how to fight back you know.” She says rolling her eyes.
“Well maybe you could teach me sometime.” I say back, looking into her gorgeous brown eyes.
“Well the let’s go.” She says holding her hand out to me.
a/n: this is my first time writing something like this and I’d love some requests!

your resident sassy teen (DO NOT CALL ME A KID.)
reformed (ish) homicidal maniac
he/they
CHR DESC:
14 y/o, freshman aged. Blonde hair (which he dyes brown/black), one brown and one gold/white eye. Fanged mouth around their neck. Giant facial scar, probably from a slash, on the left side of face- along with slits on both their mouths. Always has black nail polish, and looks fairly put together- even when covered in blood. Missing an arm (wears a prosthetic), wears hoodies and long sleeves to cover that up.
Luna Castellean, Luke's little sister- looks nothing like him- except matching face scars. (God genetics go crazy) Luna looks more like their mom than Luke. (For lore reasons, Argo (Luna) Doesn't remember this.)

casually has beef with Percy Jackson (Percy doesn't know about it but it's fine) because they think he's A) secretly a loser and not as cool as people make him out to be and B) they think Percy killed Luke (he did NOT and nobody knows where Argo got this idea)
Shapeshifter! (Works a bit different than Frank. Has limited amount of changes before they start to have issues.)
After a few shapeshifts, they start to become more susceptible to suggestion (being forced into an animal) and also keep some traits of animals they are forced into until they rest (ex: cat ears or a tail)
(also some powers due to Kronos being in his body; time control, being able to communicate with all humans and animals, and prophecy)
full backstory is essentially that after the titan war, Mr. D and Chiron decided to wipe their memory- for the safety of the camp (and of Argo, who desperately wanted to be with their older brother). Argo only knows things about themself or Luke through the other campers. the memory wiping/Argo's relationship to Luke is common knowledge- but everyone knows to not talk about it in front of him.

we're not brave, we're not soldiers - chapter 2
Percy Jackson could admit that he had many flaws; flaws that had gotten him in trouble time and time again. Today, it was his inability to say no to one Annabeth Chase.
“C’mon Perce, you of all people need to loosen up and blow off some steam. It’ll be fun!” The blonde needled. It was a little over a week since the Battle of Manhattan and the Hermes cabin was throwing a not-so-secret party that they had somehow found copious amounts of alcohol for. Almost every camper over the age of 12 was going and Chiron was either clueless or (more than likely) turning a blind eye to their antics.
It was the first time there had been a buzz of excitement in the camp since the battle, but Percy only felt dread at the thought of going. He had resisted for nearly two days before Annabeth started talking about how good it would be for the kids to have fun and relax. Percy had a habit of being a bit clueless, but he could read between the lines and behind Annabeth’s haunted eyes. She needed this, and she wanted him to be there.
What was he supposed to say to that?
At first, it was the heavy weight of grief and guilt that made the thought of acting happy around all of his friends unbearable, but by the time he arrived at the gathering deep within the woods near midnight, the crushing weight of sadness was substituted for a strange electricity pulsing under his skin. Percy couldn’t quite pinpoint the feeling, but tried to push it away.
Annabeth pulled him along, sitting them down by the campfire. The small clearing was crowded and wreaked of beer and vodka. The scent hit him like a slap in the face when Katie greeted them with two solo cups in her hand. It was all he could do to whisper no thank you as the buzzing underneath his skin became incessant and the roar of his friends' voices began to dim and morph into something else.
*Boy! Get over here and get me a beer!*
Percy jumped, looking around frantically. He could swear Gabe was right there .
*You stupid shit, useless!*
*Don’t you dare tell your mom or she’ll get it even worse.*
Percy’s breath shifted to a rapid staccato, muscles tensing all at once. He tried desperately to focus his blurry vision on something real, something in the now, but everything was hazy in the firelight. He reached out blindly and grabbed Annabeth’s hand, just barely registering the squeeze she gave. He turned to look at her but then her mouth was on his and the taste and scent of beer overcame his senses.
*This is all you’re good for, all you’ll ever be good for.*
*You’re better off dead, no one would miss you.*
*Fucking freak, get back here!*
He could tell that Annabeth was trying to talk to him, the slow movement of her lips giving away the slur in her words. He could only hear the dull roar of conversation, but tried to nod along. The electricity under his skin had intensified and now it felt as though he were burning alive. He was going to die, he just knew it and this fire would make its way through camp and take everyone with him. He had to get away, he had to….
Percy jumped violently when he felt a hand fall on his shoulder. He knew the person had likely placed it there gently but it felt like being struck by Zeus’ lightning bolt. He looked up to see a pair of blue eyes leveled at him.
“Percy, do you want to take a walk?” Will asked, squatting down in front of Percy so he could see him fully. It sounded like Will was calling out to him from underwater. The hero nodded, his breath coming in short heaves. Will helped him to his feet before Percy looked down.
“Annabeth?” He whispered, not wanting to leave her alone. He had to protect her, make sure the fire couldn’t get to her.
“She’s safe, Grover is here and we’ll be right back, okay?” Will said calmly, aching to reach out to the other boy but knowing it likely wouldn’t be welcomed. Will was a combat medic in a camp of teenage heroes. Even before the war he had seen panic attacks and PTSD (and had both himself), but after the war he dealt with it almost daily. This was an enemy he knew well.
The boys were barely out of earshot of the party before Percy’s world began to spin. Will carefully lowered him to the ground, but Percy was spiraling, his right hand absently hitting the ground in a desperate attempt to feel something real. Everything was wrong, he didn’t understand what was going on and hecouldn’tmakeit stop .
“Percy, if you can hear me, I need you to breathe with me, okay?” Will said, exaggerating his breaths and counted in for five, hold for five, out for five. Percy tried but the fire in his lungs intensified and he looked at the other boy in panic.
“I don’t….wha…what’s happ’n…?”
“You’re having a panic attack Percy. I know it’s terrifying, but it will pass, I promise. Can I touch you?” Will asked, holding out his hand. He waited until the other boy nodded before grabbing his hand and put it to his chest.
“In for one, two, three, four, five; hold for one, two, three, four, five; out for one, two, three, four, five. You can do it, breathe with me.” The blonde encouraged. Percy focused all of his strength on obeying, pushing at the walls of fire desperately.
Inforonetwo……outfor…two….five….
Infor onetwo t h r e e four five, hold for o n e, out for onetwothreefourfive……
In for onetwo, threefour, five, hold for onetwothreefourfive out for one, two, threefourfive….
It took several tries, but eventually Percy’s breathing evened out to something resembling normal and he felt his body go limp, as if he were a puppet who had his strings snipped.
Will let Percy’s hand drop from his chest, giving him a moment to collect himself before asking, “is this your first panic attack?”
“Uhh, I think so. I know…i’ve never felt that before.” Percy whispered, looking away as his cheeks burned in embarrassment.
“Do you know what caused it?”
“No.” Percy answered quickly, too quickly for Will to believe. The boys sat in silence for several minutes, both wondering how to make the situation better.
“You know, I used to have panic attacks every time I came to a party like this.” Will whispered, voice shaking just a bit. Percy’s eyes snapped to the boy, a silent question in his eyes. Will gave him a slight, sad grin.
“My mom was…or I guess is…an alcoholic. Our house always smelled like liquor and that smell…it just always sends me back. She just…she wasn’t… isn’t the best person.” Will’s arms wrapped around himself protectively, halfway wanting to swallow the words whole and play it off, but hesitating when Percy’s eyes light up in dark understanding.
“Was she…did she…?”
“Hurt me? Sometimes, but not often. Nothin’ I couldn’t handle. But she was mean as a snake when she got a drink in her. Eventually I just decided to stay at camp year round.” Will picked at his nails as he spoke, his accent creeping in subtley. Percy took the younger boy’s words in before gathering his courage and let the pain pour out.
“My first step-dad, Gabe, used to drink almost constantly. He saw me as some type of servant, and when I wasn’t quick enough or when he felt like it, he used me as a punching bag.” Percy said, a sarcastic laugh bubbling to the surface. Will scooted closer to the boy, looking at him with heartbreaking empathy.
“I’m so sorry Percy.”
“It’s not a big deal. It’s in the past and I have a shit-load of other trauma to worry about. I don’t know why this is even bothering me.”
“Because he turned your safe place, your home into a nightmare. You can’t escape the monsters when they’re at home.” Will said with a rueful smile. Percy’s posture slumped and he leaned heavily into the younger boy, not having the strength to pretend or hold himself up anymore.
“He said if I didn’t say anything he wouldn’t hurt my mom, but then he did it anyway. He was hurting her that whole time and I didn’t even realize.” The tears were silent and slow now as they ran down Percy’s cheeks.
“She didn’t deserve that, but neither did you.” Will said simply, letting the statement hang between them. Percy stayed quiet, almost falling asleep before a question emerged.
“You said you used to have panic attacks every time you came to one of these parties, so why do you still come?”
“I dunno really. At first, it was out of spite, wanting to gain control over my fear and prove it couldn’t hurt me. Eventually, I just kept coming to make sure everyone got home safe and laugh at their antics.”
Will paused for a minute before adding urgently, “and no, that’s not a healthy coping mechanism so don’t you go trying it!”
Percy laughed before stretching out his stiff legs. It seemed like every muscle in his body was sore.
“Do you still want to go back? You don’t have to, I can make sure Annabeth gets home safe.” Will said but Percy shook his head.
“Nah, I think it would make me feel worse if I didn’t make sure she got back okay, you know?” Will did, of course he did.
The boys walked back in companionable silence and laughed when they saw all of their friends drunkenly lazing around the fire. Percy did a quick sweep of the area, making sure everyone was okay.
“Hey, isn’t that Kayla and Austin? Aren’t they like 11 or 12?”
“Eleven. They told me if they could fight in a war they should be allowed to drink. I couldn’t argue with that but gave them a speech about underage drinking and told them they could only have two. I don’t think they listened to me.”

Helpless part 73, on and on like a never ending song
In, out, breath, you're going to be okay, at least that's what he told himself. The son of Apollo walked through the forest, desperately trying to clear his mind, he wouldn't break down I front of the younger campers. He hated he'd asked for someone to fill in for an extra hour since he already had a few hours off in the morning but he needed a break from everyone and everything otherwise he was scared he'd snap. He focused on the sound of leaves crunching beneath his feet, the sound of the wind; anything to take him away from reality. For even ten seconds he wanted to forget about Nico, Austin and basically everyone and everything in his life, he wished the weight of the world wouldn't be on his back, even if it was only for ten seconds. He knew he shouldn't feel that way, it was his job, if he wasn't good enough to fight he'd have to work himself to death trying to be half as useful. The effect of the painkillers had worn off, his entire body ached, feeling every broken, twisted, hurt part of everyone he'd healed. Every rib felt broken, bones shattered with every break he'd healed after the war, the stinging of cuts and scrapes, his head pounded in pain and his muscles felt as though they'd been torn and shredded a hundred times over. It wasn't real, none of it had happened, just the price for healing, taking their pain. He wished for the relief of numbness to not feel so much not entirely sure if he meant physically, mentally or emotionally, it was all too much. The son of Apollo broke down tears streamed down his face, breaking down on the ground his shakey sobs breaking through the almost silence of the forest. He was thankful he didn't have anything with him, nothing sharp, no medication, no cigarettes; they would have noticed, he couldn't let anyone see how scared he was. He was wearing Lee's flannel like he always did, clinging to his memory, the only thing keeping him sane. His voice soothing over every problem, telling him to slow down and take every step one by one, his reassurance that everything would be okay. Then again nothing was. Grabbing at the sticks and stones around him until his hands touched a smooth leather, confused he brushed away the dirt and saw a notebook. Picking it up and flicking through the pages he recognised the writing it started as Lee's, then half way through it changed to Austins, it had just about everything written in there. Will chocked back a sob, his tears smudging the perfect lines of ink in Austin's surprisingly neat handwriting.
"William are you alright?" He snapped his head around and the sound of Chiron's voice, clear and caring.
"I-I'm fine." He wasn't sure why he kept telling people that when he couldn't have been further away from the truth.
"I know recent events have been a lot on you, for all the time you spend taking care of others maybe you should spend some time taking care of yourself."
"I told you I'm fine." He couldn't even convince himself let alone Chiron, he wished he were dead but that would never be an option, he had people to take care of, he wouldn't leave them.
"It's alright to not always be alright, surely of all people you know that William."
"Don't- just- call me Will, it's too formal."
"Of course; tell me, what's that in your hand?"
"I-It's a notebook, well, Lee's notebook that he gave to Austin before the first war. I found it buried under the sticks and dirt."
"Did he happen to keep this on him?"
"Never went anywhere without it... which means we're closer to finding him."
"Things always get better Will, I know it seems as if the weight of the world is on your shoulders but things get better with time."
"What if they don't? What if we can't find Austin? What if something happened to him?"
"We can only hope that he is alive and well, while the forest is dangerous he was a skilled camper and I have full belief that he is alive."
"So do I, I don't know if I could deal with another dead brother, or if any of the other Apollo kids could. Either they're so young they'll be traumatised by it either way or they've already lost two and can't take it anymore." He didn't admit that he'd almost been the third dead, no one else needed to know that much.
"Come, it's getting late, your siblings are worried about you. Kayla started checking to see if every sharp object and dangerous medication was still in the infirmary after the first hour-"
"How long have I been here? I thought it's been like twenty minutes."
"It's been three hours, don't worry, everything is fine, your siblings and friends know how to run things, you need to let yourself take a break."
"I'm taking one now."
"You need to take breaks before you worry and overwork yourself to the point of extremes; back to my previous point, is that something I should be worried about?"
"I'm fine, please, just let me keep working, I swear I can still help them."
"Will, sometimes it's about helping yourself, not just others. If you ever need to talk I'm here, my doors will always be open, I am also asking you to spend less hours working as I have been informed that without Nectar and Ambrosia you would have been dead for exhaustion and that you have a habit of working twenty four hour shifts every day for weeks on end."
"After the war, so much happened, so many people got hurt, I need to help, I'm the only real healer."
"You're more than just a healer."
"Thank you." Will started to stand, legs shaking, breath still short and half covered in dirt. As the two started to head back out the forest Chiron turned to him.
"Your boyfriend is going to live, he's strong and he's got you to help him."
"How do you know about me and Nico?" He was stunned, he'd thought they'd been okay at hiding it.
"The way you talk about him, like Patroclus and Achilles."
"They were actually...?"
"They were just like you two."

XVI: I Hope Ya'll Were Paying Attention, 'Cause I'm Never Doing That Again
From now on, Ara won't think about anything else than taking the seven demigods to the ancient lands. Once there she'll save Nico, and after that... she'll do what she must to make sure her camp gets saved, and maybe break her curse in the process.
Annabeth sits her on the mattress. "I shouldn't have forced you to do three missions in a row—"
Ara groans. "That is the only reason I'm here. And one of the missions was a tea party where Aphrodite complimented my eyeliner." She touches her face in sudden realization. "Oh gods, my eyeliner! Do I look insane?"
Annabeth smiles a little. "The storm and your crying washed it all away—you should get a better brand."
"I like how easy to remove it is," she lies on her back. "And that brand has pretty colors..."
The ship is groaning and swaying from one side to another, but Ara isn't allowed on deck. She had a meltdown and Frank had to carry her to the sickbay, and now she's too weak to do anything.
Ara stepped into the role of daughter of Olympus so sure of herself, and now... Why couldn't all this happen when she had the option to step out? She remembers how harshly she judged Clarisse during the first war, but now she understands that sometimes being impartial is not an option.
When the storm gets more violent, Annabeth is forced to leave the room. "I have to go help..."
Ara says something before Annabeth leaves her cabin. "You don't have to worry about me bailing out after this. I'll help you defeat Gaea if it is the last thing that I do." She stares at the ceiling with a blank expression. "I'm sorry I freaked out, I suck at diplomatic stuff. Lily always took care of that part..."
Annabeth crosses her arms and sighs heavily. "Yeah, that was concerning. You used to hold your front just fine, what happened?"
Ara makes a face. "Aphrodite told me not to be rash and I didn't listen. I wonder why I ignore her when she's trying to help..."
"You always complained about being underestimated," Annabeth shrugs. "Maybe you're doing the same to her."
Ever since the gods stripped her of her Aphrodite identity and dressed her in General attire, Ara has done her best to hide who her godly parent originally was. She acted all offended when Leo didn't believe she was from Cabin Ten, but deep down, she'd been satisfied. The implications of that, of course, are terrible, so Ara decides to ignore it.
"Could you not..." she clears her throat and speaks with more authority. "Don't tell the others, I don't want them to freak out over nothing. Let them have peace before we reach Rome."
"I figured you'd say that," Annabeth sighs. "Fine."
Tumblr media
Moving my stuff out of Cabin Ten isn't hard, I haven't kept much in there since I moved to New York. I choose a room on the second floor of the Big House, close to the stairs so I can get out fast in case of an emergency.
Nico takes the room across from mine, and Rachel the one in the middle. We go to Apollo's cabin, and the campers salute me as I enter. Nico and Lily stay outside to start the funeral rituals and I help where I can. I use my empath touch on the mourners until I can't hold more of their grief, I employ my charmspeak so the wounded rest.
I stand next to Chiron and Mr D and we burn the shrouds, as that comes to an end, I introduce myself as the new head of camp. I promise to be there to help and protect them.
During dinner, Nico sits with me because he doesn't have a table. Tomorrow I'll see that he gets one. Lily will help him design his cabin, they'll leave tomorrow night and Lily will stay a few weeks in the Underworld to help Daedalus, I know she's hoping to catch a glimpse of Mike.
Campers approach our table to congratulate Nico, but they give me nervous glances as they move to me. Some of them, the Cabin Nine and Cabin Ten campers seem happy, although my siblings also look concerned about having Drew as their new counselor. I had to give up the spot for the bigger part, I was never a proper Aphrodite anyway, perhaps this is better.
The Stolls want me to change rules so they can go out on the weekends, but when I tell them that's out of my control, they lose interest in my title.
Most campers are anxious, Drew's spreading rumors about a curse, she says a child of Olympus and peace are mutually exclusive, and having me on camp taunts the fates. She tells everyone it's in my name: The bringer of curses.
The first night though, they're willing to give me a shot.
I go to bed completely exhausted, so I don't wake up when Rachel walks in and stares at me for Hades knows how long. I wake and jump out of my skin when I notice the girl at the foot of my bed. I reach for Almighty but then notice the bushy hair and the large T-shirt.
"Rachel?" I speak hoarsely.
Her eyes snap open and illuminate the room with their green light.
"When the dove touches the smith
Almighty raises her myth
And the curse of love releases
By tearing earth into pieces."
Rachel stumbles forward and holds onto the bedframe.
"W-Wha..." she blinks, her eyes going back to normal. "Where am I?"
I gulp. "My room."
She looks at me. "How did I get here?" Understanding falls on her features. "Did I just..?"
"Go to bed, Rachel," I get up.
"What did I say?"
I guide her out of my room and back to hers. She sits on the bed and I hand her the glass of water she had on the nightstand. "Can you please keep this a secret?"
Rachel frowns. "Why? What did I say?"
"Something that has to do with me, and only me."
"Are you sure?"
"Well, the oracle took you to my room, so if I had to guess..."
"But what did I say?" She insists.
"I'll figure it out, Rachel."
"But—"
"Please," I press. "That's—er, an order."
"The Oracle doesn't answer to you, General," she gives me a grumpy look.
My shoulders fall. "Can't you do it as a friend?"
"What thing?" She teases me. "Keep the secret, or answering to you?"
"It wasn't a big deal, so I can take care of it on my own."
She doesn't believe me. Nothing was ever "not a big deal" if the Oracle was spitting out a prophecy about it.
"Alright. But if you end up needing help, you have to ask for it."
I tense, not wanting to utter the words, but if I don't, Rachel will tell Chiron.
"I promise."

There are better ways to wake up from a nap than to turn your room sideways.
The nap worked though, so as she navigates the large corridors slamming against the walls, she manages not to throw up at all until she reaches the deck.
"Holy—!"
"What's going— Gah! Shrimpzilla!" Percy crashes against her.
"What is that?!" Ara screams, drawing out Almighty and almost crawling to reach the helm.
"Must be one of Keto's stupid monsters!" Annabeth yells. "How did it get so close?"
"I don't know!" Hedge shouts.
"I'm stupid!" Leo cries out. "Stupid, stupid! I forgot the sonar!"
The ship tilts again, almost completely on one side.
"Sonar?" Hedge growls. "Pan's pipes, Valdez! Maybe if you hadn't been staring into Hazel's eyes, holding hands for so long—"
"What?" Frank and Ara reply in shock.
"It wasn't like that!" Hazel argues.
"It doesn't matter!" Piper intervenes. "Jason, can you call some lightning?"
Jason is completely drained from their encounter with the Romans, and Percy isn't any better. The monster's thin wire-like legs slid over the deck and Ara barely ducks and presses herself against the railing.
"Stay away from my ship!" Ara slashes tendrils as she goes.
"Hazel!" Leo screams. "That box! Open it!"
Ara's eyes land on the box of Greek fire Leo keeps on deck. She knows what he's got in mind.
"Ara, go and help!" The boy continues to give out orders. "Coach, take the wheel! Turn us toward the monster, or we'll capsize!"
"Hope you got a plan!" The satyr runs up to him.
Ara has half a mind to think about what Hedge said about Leo and Hazel, the current monster threatening to sink them is far more important than whatever feelings she may have about it, if she has any at all. Janus came, and she chose duty. She mutes her emotions and does what Leo asks of her, running to Hazel and opening the wooden box.
"You gotta be gentle with these," she warns her.
"Ara," Hazel starts. "What Hedge said—"
"I don't care!" She snaps at her impatiently. "Come on!"
"Frank!" Leo runs across the deck. "Buy us some time! Can you turn into a shark or something?"
Frank scowls at Leo, and the monster knocks him out of the ship when he gets distracted. Hazel cries out and almost drops the vials she's holding, but Leo catches them when he arrives at their side.
"Come on! We can kill the monster—and save Frank!" He glances at Ara, his expression telling her nothing at all. "Can you help us climb to the port rail?"
"Yes."
"What is this stuff?" Hazel pants as Ara drags them up the deck.
"Greek fire!" Leo shouts.
"Are you crazy? If these break, we'll burn the whole ship!"
"Its mouth!" Leo points as they reach the railing, he holds onto it to not slip back down. "Just chuck it down its—"
Once again, Ara is the only one fast enough to dodge the tendril. She slips back and watches in horror as Hazel and Leo get lifted. The girl glares at the monster, Lily's stygian dagger gets heavier on her belt. "You asked for it..."
Leo singes the creature so it loosens its grip. It feels like it happens in slow motion, Ara can tell what his plan is as it happens, and she only has a few seconds to help. She presses twice on the alpha of her sword, turning it into a BB gun.
She shoots at the same time Leo throws his vial of Greek fire at the monster. The pellet crashes against it and makes it explode directly into the monster's mouth. Hazel throws the second vial, and Ara shoots again. That one explodes in the monster's line of vision.
Ara presses on the alpha twice, and Almighty turns into a grappling hook. It attaches to the main mast, and the girl jumps overboard drawing out Lily's dagger. She swings across the length of the monster, cutting through the creature's skin.
It's not a deep cut, but the injury is long, and mixed with Leo's Greek fire weakens the beast enough so it loosens its grip on the ship. Ara's hand hurts from holding all of her weight, but she pays no attention to it as the tool yanks her back into the ship. She stumbles to a stop, then puts Lily's dagger away and her skin glows teal.
"Everyone hold onto the railing!" A wave pushes them away from the monster, and Ara forces the currents to keep pushing until they're out of reach. "Annabeth, the ballista!"
Her friend shoots twice, the creature shrieks, and then the sea swallows it leaving nothing on the surface. Ara slips to the floor, her face turning green.
"Ara," Piper approaches. "Leo and Hazel—"
"And Frank," Ara nods dryly. "Where is my brother?"
"The monster knocked him out," Jason gets closer too, eyeing her with concern. "We should check on you too."
"Feed him ambrosia and bring him up," she turns Almighty back into a compass and looks at it, the needle moves speedily over the symbols without stopping and makes her dizzier, so she looks away. "We gotta search the sea."
Tumblr media
"Ara, we have a problem with the—"
"In a moment," she stops Annabeth and leans over the rail to talk to Percy. "What do you mean they're gone?!"
"I can't find them!" Percy shouts back, floating right next to the Argo II. "And no one here has seen them!"
"I saw them fall! Keep looking!" Ara looks back at Annabeth. "You were saying?"
Ara clings to her role and does her best, but Leo is the one who fixes what's in the engine room so that will have to wait until he comes back. If he comes back. In the meantime, Ara takes care of the rest with Annabeth's help and makes sure everyone patches up their wounds.
Percy comes back on board frustrated, this is the first time he's lost a battle against a sea monster, and he's deeply confused at the fact that he wasn't able to find any of their friends. Ara remains hopeful, if there are no bodies, then they didn't die.
Annabeth approaches and places a hand on Ara's shoulder. "We have to warn the camp about Octavian."
They call Chiron. Annabeth and Ara explain what happened. At least this she's familiar with, preparing the camp for attacks used to be her bread and butter.
"We'll be okay, Strategus," Chiron tells her. "Your job is to keep the seven in one piece until they finish the quest. Focus on nothing else."
"She's doing a great job," Annabeth informs him. "Last night she killed Shrimpzilla and made it look easy."
"Shrimpzilla took three of our crew," Ara points out sternly. "I gotta keep searching, Chiron, but... Tell everyone I'll return soon. I... I promise."
Chiron gives her a sympathetic look. Being a leader is nothing like she thought it'd be.

Daughter of the Sea
Chapter Nineteen: I Feed the Fire a Cookie (Read on AO3 here)
We talked until the conch shell rang, signaling dinner. As we all filed out of the room, spirits were high. It had taken a lot of brainpower, compromising, and arguing, but somehow we had come up with a plan that we were proud of. Well, it was more like a series of plans that built off each other, but it felt good to start somewhere. The only person who didn’t seem thrilled was Chiron, and I had a nagging feeling I knew why.
I was walking in silence next to Cady when someone came bounding up behind us.
“Where have you two been?” Rosie slung her arm around both of our shoulders, which was easy for her to do.
“War meeting.” Cady said, attempting a smile. Rosie inhaled sharply.
“That does not sound fun. I’m glad I’m not a counselor.”
“It wasn’t too bad this time.” I said. “At least Clarisse and Michael didn’t fight too much.”
“And it was actually productive.” Cady added as we began climbing the hill that the dining pavilion sat on.
Rosie lifted an eyebrow. “What did you talk about?”
I narrowed my eyes at her and Cady made a face. We weren't supposed to talk about war meetings outside the game room.
“You’ll find out soon enough.” I said. And it was true, since she was an integral part of the plan we had come up with. She just didn’t know it yet.
“What?!” she asked as Cady and I began to walk to our separate tables. “What does that mean?”
But neither of us answered. I kept walking, trying to hold in my laughter. Being in the inner circle at camp was a lot of pressure, but it was nice to know what was going on. Cady and I tried not to rub it in our friend’s faces too much.
I said a prayer to my father that night as I gave him an offering, asking him to protect Percy and Annabeth, wherever they were. As I dumped a portion of my mac-n-cheese into the flames, the scent of the sea filled my nose and a breeze blew through my hair. The tell-tale signs of Dad. I took that to mean that he was listening, and I walked back to my table with a smile.
For all the lost time, all the years growing up alone, at least he was trying to make up for it now.
Five days passed, and still no Percy or Annabeth. No iris-messages. No phone calls. Chiron assured me that everything was okay, that their silence was a part of the plan. But I was getting antsy. The last time Percy was MIA kept flashing through my mind, remembering last summer when the whole camp thought he had died.
I hadn’t even met him at that time, and already the thought of him not returning was enough to make me cry. But now that I did know him, now that I had had a year to be his sister and bond with him, the thought of losing him was unthinkable. Percy was half of me now, and if he was taken away from me it would feel like my heart was being ripped out of my chest. I told myself that it wouldn’t happen, that if Chiron said all was well then that was true.
But still, I had a hard time sleeping at night alone in our cabin.
The next day at breakfast, everyone's favorite centaur came over to where I sat alone at my table.
“Come see me after you are finished, please.”
“Yeah, okay. I will.” I said, a piece of bacon hanging out of my mouth. He nodded and turned, going around to other tables and talking to other campers. I watched as he moved—first to the Apollo table, then Aphrodite, then Hephaestus. I had a pretty good idea what he wanted to talk about.
I was the last person to show up in the living room of the Big House. I walked in cautiously, as I heard voices talking in low tones. They all quieted as I entered, and then visibly relaxed when they saw it was me. I scanned their faces and my suspicions were confirmed.
On the couch sat Cady and Evan, their heads close together and whispering. Rosie stood in front of the large fireplace, pacing. Chiron stood in the corner reading pages out of an oversized manila folder. He cleared his throat as I moved to the middle of the room.
“Welcome, Angie. Now that you’ve arrived, we can begin.”
“Sorry.” I mumbled as I sat next to Cady. Some of the younger campers had stopped me on my way out of the dining pavilion asking about Percy and the war. I couldn’t just ignore them. I could only imagine how scared the littles were.
Chiron cleared his throat. “You all have been gathered because you have been chosen for a very important assignment.”
Cady and I kept our heads down, but Evan and Rosie looked shocked. We knew what Chiron was about to say, we had been a part of planning this very mission. But our two friends who weren’t counselors had no idea. But even so, I was a little surprised to be included instead of my brother.
“One of our biggest hurdles in this war is Kronos’ army. Not only do we have to worry about battling Titans, which the gods have been keeping an eye on, there are also the monsters and…and demigods to deal with.” He said the last part as if it took all of his strength. I had never seen the centaur look so beaten down. “If we can take out a large portion of their forces, that will give us a major advantage when the time for battle does come.”
We sat in silence, listening intently. Which was huge considering we all had ADHD.
“The head counselors and I have come up with a series of plans in order to accomplish this. Your task will be the first step, and each of you will have an important role to play. The main goal of your mission will be to map out the layout of The Princess Andromeda so that we can plan a future attack. Evan—” the son of Hepheastus sat up straighter, “your job will be to record the location of every essential and important place, but especially the engine room.”
“No problem.” Evan said with a crooked grin.
“Cady, you will be responsible for keeping an eye on your campmates and healing any injuries they might sustain.”
She nodded, her face set.
“Rosaline, you will have the most important and dangerous task of all. Using your abilities, you will shift into the form of Kronos, who is inhabiting Luke Castellan’s body, and give orders that move everyone away from where Evan is. It is imperative that you distract them thoroughly enough for this plan to work.”
Her eyes sparkled a little brighter and she grinned. “Sounds like fun.”
“And Angie,” Chiron turned to me. I was beginning to think he had forgotten I was there. “I had hoped Percy would be back in time for this assignment, but his current mission is taking longer than anticipated. You will be responsible for getting everyone there, calling on animals of the sea as transportation. You will also help Evan map out the ship and keep your ears open for any information you can overhear. A child of Poseidon is an invaluable resource on the sea—you will help where you are needed.”
I nodded, trying to hide the anger and disappointment I was feeling. I had been right all along. He didn’t want me on this mission to begin with. He wished Percy could do it. I was only going as a last resort, because he had no other option.
“I won’t let you down.” I said, the words like a prayer.
“Does everyone understand your assignments?” Chiron asked.
We all nodded.
“Good, you will have two days to prepare, and then on the third you will go. You were all chosen because you are strong, capable heroes with unique gifts.” Except me, I thought. I’m only going because my brother is already doing something heroic. “This mission cannot fail, and it must be kept a secret.”
And with those warm words, he left us all in the living room in silence.
We spent the rest of the morning discussing what we had been told and formulating plans. Even though none of us were children of Athena, we had been at camp long enough or been through enough training to know how to handle ourselves and come up with a good strategy. By the time the lunch conch sounded, we had a solid idea of what we were going to do.
I hung back as the others filed out, grabbed a cookie off the coffee table, and walked over to the fireplace. I stood there, watching the flames dance, and thought about how far I had come. Just one year ago, almost exactly, I had emerged from this very fireplace, covered in soot and ash, unsure about everything. I didn’t know who I was, where I belonged, or what worth I had. I was lost, alone, afraid, and confused. Now, I stood taller, stronger, with abilities I never thought would be possible. But more than that, I had a family and friends, people who loved me and understood me. That was truly something I never thought would be possible.
Despite my jumble of feelings, I tossed the cookie into the flames. “To the gods. Thanks for everything, Hestia. Thanks for protecting me and bringing me to camp.” Over the last year, I had learned that no matter how complicated my relationship with the gods was, I had plenty to be thankful for.
As the fire consumed the dessert, the smell of woodsmoke filled the air and the flames changed to a dramatic blue. I couldn’t help but smile—the goddess had heard me.
I walked out of the Big House to find my friends in a circle outside, talking excitedly.
“What’s wrong?” I asked. I was sure they would be halfway to the pavilion by then.
“We were waiting for you!” Rosie said, bouncing over to me and slinging an arm around my shoulders.
“Oh.” That thought hadn’t even crossed my mind. “Thanks.” I smiled weakly.
“We weren’t just gonna leave you, that would be rude.” She said as we all started walking. “We’re about to go on a super secret mission together, I think some bonding time is a good idea.”
Cady and Evan laughed as the daughter of Apollo hooked her elbow around mine. “Does it ever freak you out that you have the same name as Kronos’ ship? Isn’t that weird?” Cady asked.
I looked at her, confused.
“His ship isn't named The Angie.”
She looked at me like I had three heads. “It’s called The Princess Andromeda. You know, like your name?”
I let out a loud laugh. “You know, sometimes I genuinely forget Andromeda is my real name.”
Rosie burst into laughter, and Evan looked at me wide eyed.
“Your name is Andromeda?! How are we supposed to succeed in this mission if we keep secrets from each other? If we can’t trust each other?” He could barely hold in his laughter, though, and soon enough all of us were stumbling up the hill, our voices echoing in the valley below.

PJO Fic: Ciel Capture the Flag
Disclaimer: Hello, everyone! This is my attempt at writing fan fics again, over the past year I had quite a lot of stuff going on and it has had an effect on my writing. That said I will take any constructive criticism and feedback to improve and get to a more confident space to post more frequently. Additionally, the following characters are property of @mastrmiscellaneous: Justin Colby Peters, Lucille Peters, and Clara Osta.
Summary: Ciel and his friends are attempting to devise a strategy to beat the reigning capture the flag MVPs: Percy and Annabeth. What will it take to surprise and trick the Camp’s veterans?
Word Count: 1,856
The night began like any other night at the end of the week at Camp Half Blood, a nice dinner with cabin mates, toast to the gods, and the occasional Ares or Hermes kid throwing a random chicken leg. Ciel was discussing the plans for capturing the flag after dinner was finished. He along with the members of Hephaestus, Apollo, Hades, Nemesis, Dioynasis, Hebe, Hecate, and Hestia cabin had made an allegiance in the hopes of beating the camp's strongest fighters. Granted, numbers were not on their side wouldn't give them any advantage but rather relying on their expertise and the power within their parent's domains was their ace. Ciel in the past two summers has become the head of the Hecate cabin but was still not used to his leadership role nor believe he was capable of the position. Though his siblings and cabin mates would argue otherwise, to them, their brother was a superior sorcerer and a capable fighter but it was his compassion that shattered the stigma of the children of Hecate. They couldn't do many of the things he could do but they never stop striving to be better, to them he was their paragon of what a hero could be. Now if they could win capture the flag then they'd get bragging rites for the next week and wouldn't have to clean stables. "So," Ciel began, "we know many of the big hitters are for this battle. Jackson, Chase, McClain, Stoles, and La Rue. Any suggestions?" Ciel glanced at the heads of his alliance. "We could distract Annabeth with a spider." Leo Valdez piped up with a smirk, pulling from his famous toolbelt an automaton of a spider. "I got enough for at least a dozen of Athena cabin. "That's lame," Lucille Peters chimed. "You didn't make them into grenades?" "Chiron checked me since last time my design burnt at least three campers from Aphrodite cabin eyebrows off!" Leo wasn't big on his younger half-sister giving him grief about his work. "Lucy, did you make them into grenades?" Ciel questioned as Lucille gave a cheeky grin. "Who the hell do you think I am?" "Language." Justin Peters, son of Apollo and older brother to Lucille reprimanded his sister but received an unkind gesture of her middle finger. "I'm telling Mom." "Can you focus? Grenades are fine but we have a big thing to worry about. Percy and Annabeth on the same team?" Clara Osta, daughter of Hades and member of the Guardians mentioned drawing everyone's focus back to the planning. "We hold them off or we overpower them." "Clara, you're more strategic than most of us. I'd defer to you on what the plan would be," Ciel spoke. He always felt that if he didn't have an answer he could rely on his friend's judgment and capacity to plan at the moment. "I'm the only one among us with superior enough skills to fight at least one of them." Clara began unveiling her plan for the plan of attack against the coalition that was shouting in the distance. The horn that Chiron held had yet to be blown so they had enough time to at least get into position. The war cry of campers began echoing through the forest as many campers charged from their starting locations on the battlefield that many of them have fought dozens upon dozens of times. Lucille and Leo took the southeast location of the creek between the mainline of the battlefield, both holding war hammers of varied sizes as they took on the first wave of cabin 6 campers. They along with their members of cabin 9 and assistance from cabin 7 pushed them into a tight fatal funnel with arrows and stink bombs. Those who were able to get through their funnel however were met with surprise attacks by cabin 20, stalling the vanguard from breaking through further into their territory by magical nets with a mix of cabin 12 using plants to grab members of cabins 4, 5, 10, 11, 14, 17, 19. With this advantage for the moment, the combined forces of members of Hephaestus, Apollo, Hades, Nemesis, Dioynasis, Hebe, Hecate, and Hestia were able to disarm and knock out a number of their opponents. With a mixed collection of cries from a number of these campers of surprise and frustration escaped some of these campers. Many even shouted in curses like Clarisse La Rue, daughter of Ares, who was able to escape her binds and began cutting the vines and nets of her comrades. "Oh, you think this is cute?!" Clarisse called out into the forest. "You think a cowardly trick like this will keep us from victory?!" "Well, yeah." Justin from the top of a tree about a few yards away said as he knocked an arrow toward the feared daughter of Ares. "Your group isn't all that smart if you're leading the charge, La Rue." The blond boy grinned as he kept shooting several arrows at many of his adversaries. "Plus, you got something behind you!" "What?!" Clarisse turned around expecting to be attacked from behind her but was shocked no one was there and the fact that all the nets and binds holding her comrades, and seemed to disappear except for a few. "How- fucking cabin 20!" Cabin 20 as a collective had set a large illusion up to a certain point past their defensive position so that the majority of their forces could protect their flag. All the opponents that their enemies believed they fought were each other while twisted, was a valuable trick for a one-time use. As Clarisse rallied her companions, a separate party of campers made to sneak past the enemy's line to meet against two of the Seven. Percy and Annabeth were mere feet away from crossing their coalition territory into the opposing campers' territory but were blocked off by two campers. Ciel and Clara both with their weapons drawn and ready to engage the legendary Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase. "Just you two?" Percy questioned in a curious tone. "Yep, just us," Ciel said as he spun his butterfly swords. "Granted, this was really the only thing I could think of." "You two are pretty cocky if you think you can handle us. Brave, but cocky," Annabeth said as she readied her fighting stance. "Óla eínai díkaia ston érota kai ston pólemo," Clara exclaimed before rushing in towards Percy while Ciel covered her flank by running towards Annabeth. The battle began and the cries of their mettle and blades rang along the creek shore. Ciel made to get in close with his butterfly swords by sliding and parrying Annabeth's counter-assault. The pair block each other strikes in a dance of close quarters that seemed to be its own tornado that no one foolish enough would jump into the current fray. Ciel reversed his grip on his butterfly swords in a reverse grip, crossing his arms in a parallel manner after briefly disengaging Annabeth. "You've gotten good," Annabeth commented, "though I think you're weaker than me." "Maybe, though I know my strengths and know not to bark, unlike a certain Daughter of Athena." Ciel remembered his brief with his fellow team captains on how to use the know failures of his betters like Annabeth. Ciel returned to his melee while goading Annabeth on how her skill wasn't all that. Her skills with a dagger and her bone sword were not as great as she believed. While he wasn't good at this, Ciel needed to cause Annabeth to lose focus enough for the next part of his battle plan. Annabeth kept pushing on Ciel, despite their height difference the young child of Hecate was superior and his movements were not weighed by his mass but he was swift. Annabeth notices his footwork and means of countering her, all close and considerate of his vital points, never overreaching but keeping his timing mixed enough to not seem impractical. She had to admit he had grown from the shy boy who joined them at the worse point in the history of the camp. "You've gotten better," Annabeth commented as slipped under Ciel's guard swinging in an uppercut motion to his helmet and the tip of her knife missing his left eye. "You aren't quick like me, Silverstein." "You talk too much," Ciel said as he dropped into a leg sweep before causing the Daughter of Aphrodite to fall on her back. "Here's a gift." Ciel snapped his finger as a large tarantula landed on top of Annabeth's breastplate causing the girl to wail louder than any monster in the nearest hundred miles around the camp. Annabeth began to swipe at the furry eight-legged devil that her siblings have been infamous for having a large disdain. Though the eight-legged demon just kept climbing around her and hissing a storm to her greater surprise and fear a second tarantula appeared by her feet circling her. As cruel as it seemed, overstimulating a demigod and applying their innate fears from their godly parents was a means to dominate the battlefield because; if one of your greatest leaders is indisposed then you can keep pulling the threads of their plans and destroy their seams. Though the chaos, Ciel created was about to be thwarted by the Hero of Olympus: Percy Jackson. "Dude, not cool!" Percy shouted as he pushed past Clara feinting hitting her with his sword in order to charge at Ciel like a minotaur fresh out of Tartarus. "That was dirty!" Shouting, Percy came within Ciel's guard, too close for Percy to properly use Riptide but enough room for Ciel who wasn't just some magician because of his mother's blood but skilled at close-quarters, especially with his Baat Jaam Do (butterfly swords) called Proángelos (or Harbinger). Ciel used the quillon, his sword guard hook in order to trap Percy's sword hand before twisting the son of Poseidon's wrist in an unorthodox manner in order to cause discomfort. The brief pain was an opening one couldn't get so easily on the Hero of Olympus, not unless you were willing to play dirty. "Ow ow ow, OW! Fuck!" Percy barked out before slamming his head into Ciel's own causing him to lessen the pressure on his wrist. "Dude, what gives?! First, spiders on Annabeth, and now you try to break my wrist?" "I plan on winning this time, HA!" Ciel reversed the grips of Harbinger so their knuckle-bow covered the son of Hecate's hand like a set of knuckledusters before bellowing a mighty as he threw a fist at Percy who attempted to dodge only to be surprised by the brief indigo holographic of a giant hand with a set of similar knuckledusters coating the hand as well slamming into Percy at a high velocity that sent him tumbling into the river. "Y-you clever, little, son of a...." before Jackson could think of finishing that sentence the sound of Chiron's conch shell blew signaling the end of the game of capture the flag. In the far distance, Chiron had announced that Ciel's team had just one-up them and won. "Bitch."

Guys I’m still thinking about it CONSIDER so Jesus is actually a son of Dionysus (or perhaps a demigod who was granted his blessing…maybe a son of Poseidon? Cuz he walks on water?) I forgot to mention Mr D is also the god of religious ecstasy, festivity, fertility, vegetation, all things that Jesus used to spread Christianity (blessing the harvest, converting water to wine, starting a religion) anyway that’s the lore, back on track
So in this AU, Percy gets Mr. D the wine, breaking the curse but accidentally claiming Percy as his own son in the process, and Dionysus immediately realizes his mistake and thinks “ah shit how do I fix this without Zeus figuring out I went behind his back and punishing me even more for it?”
At First, he just does nothing. I mean, he can’t make it worse, right? Acting now would be too suspicious! When the real parent claims Percy, Mr D will just say “WHAT?? Oh My bad!! Didn’t have my glasses on! You’re not *checks ink on hand* Pierre Jenkinson. Wrong kid :)” and all will be okay, right?
Because sure, most gods are deadbeats, but claiming another kid as your own has always been a No No. It’s like a personal insult, a jab at their pride, a swipe at someone else’s prized trophy. Especially a kid that took down a Minotaur single-handedly. Percy’s dad must be fuming somewhere and ready to storm over himself to claim Percy as his own.
But he never gets claimed! So Mr D is like “oh shit I gotta pay child support don’t I?”
(Which no one is offering to help him with btw. Grover is standing there like “mf I know you’re lying” Chiron’s like “I don’t get paid for this shit” so they’re no help UGH)
As stated before, Percy’s being a little shit, talking back, asking questions (oh the horror), making Mr D be a parent, starting a Union in the Dionysus cabin. Meanwhile, Mr D(ad) over here is pulling his hair out. It’s been days! When is Percy’s real dad going to call him out??? Come on!! Every second is another opportunity for Percy or another camper to realize something’s up!
To buy himself more time and make the lie more believable, Mr D blesses Percy with some of the same powers as his other kids (the same ones he gave Jesus so long ago 👀)
Percy is now able to make wine, help fruits and orchards grow (just a bit), control crowds via ritual thinking, and one or two other things sprinkled in. No biggie. It’s not like the kid’s got some insane powers locked away or anything. That’s crazy talk!
Out of nowhere, Percy comes up to him and asks “hey dad do you control water?” And Mr D is like “why on earth would I do that?” Then Percy tells him about the bathroom and that’s when D realizes something.
If Percy’s parent still hasn’t claimed him back yet, there has to be a reason, right? But who wouldn’t want to claim their kid under any circumstances? Who would gladly let someone else take the fall for claiming a kid? Maybe someone who isn’t supposed to have a kid in the first place?
…Percy can control water. Because of course he can. Of course, Dionysus fucked up and claimed a son of Poseidon because Holy shit, Mr D accidentally claimed the prophecy kid. Oh my god, his week was getting so much worse.
Mr D makes up a dumb lie on the spot, something about Jesus, it was a half truth anyway so whatever, and immediately contacts Poseidon. But not after calling Chiron in as well. Poseidon admits to everything, he’s a blubbering mess, Chiron is finally on the same page, and they’re all sitting there now like “how are we going to fix this?”
Dionysus can’t snitch on Poseidon or he’ll face Zeus’ wrath for drinking wine. And Poseidon can’t snitch on Dionysus or he’ll face Zeus’ wrath for having a kid and it’ll put the Jackson family in danger. And they also need to worry about preparing Percy for the prophecy war and find the master bolt before a different war breaks out, which claiming Percy might just cause anyway.
So after careful consideration, Chiron suggests that they just…keep it a secret. “If you’re both trying to keep your lies from Mt Olympus,”he says, “why don’t we work together?” Mr D keeps Percy’s powers hidden by keeping his claim and his blessing intact. Chiron trains Percy at the camp. Poseidon distracts Zeus and intervenes only when absolutely necessary.
It’s a sound enough plan. After all, no one has to know. (And Obviously, this includes the kid that they’re lying about. Because Chiron always thinks they should hide things from Percy. What else is new?)
But do you know who they can’t keep secrets from?
Annabeth. Our favorite 12yo stalker who’s always six steps ahead :)
She’s been sniffing out their bullshit since day one. She figured it out when the toilets exploded, but she still needs to prove it. So she watches Percy during capture the flag. And when he becomes a madman near the water? When he stands in the lake and they both watch as his wounds heal? Chiron immediately realizes they’re fucked.
Annabeth storms into the big house and demands a quest (because priorities 🤪) and Percy is pissed because they lied to him. So they spill the beans and tell him it’s for his protection. Percy screams right back that he can protect himself. Mr D tries to mitigate, but it’s no use. Percy feels genuinely betrayed. That’s when he tells them how he only gave Dionysus a chance because his mom told him how great of a man his father was. “But I guess that’s not you, is it? You’re just a fraud.” he says.
And Dionysus could be mean right back. He’s a god. He could banish him, make him go insane, turn him into a dolphin, but he just can’t. Because he made a new promise to Poseidon, and…he also feels bad. He feels like he’s disappointed his own kid. “You’re right, I’m not him,” he admits quietly. “But for your safety, I have to be.”
And that’s when they tell him of the quest. The master bolt has gone missing, and Zeus believes one of his brothers is to blame. If Percy reveals he’s the son of Poseidon, it could make Zeus believe that he stole it. Percy refuses until Grover spills the beans about his mom. Now, he has to go on this quest, hide his true parentage by wielding Mr D’s blessing, retrieve the master bolt, and not die in the process. And he feels betrayed.
So off they go, on their own, on a quest where gods aren’t allowed to intervene.
How will Poseidon help without tipping off the gods? Will Mr D help as well? (Spoiler: Absolutely.) Will Percy be able to keep this secret? Who else on Mt Olympus will figure it out? Or maybe someone from Tartarus will find out too?
OKAY THATS MY PITCH I’M ALREADY WRITING THIS BUT I SEE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WANT TO DO THEIR OWN TAKE SO HAVE FUN!! I CAN’T WAIT TO READ YOUR INTERPRETATIONS (just please credit me thanks) ANYWAY HAVE A GOOD DAY
AU where Mr. D claiming to be Percy’s dad accidentally counts as Claiming according to Greek god law or whatever and now all the other gods legitimacy believe Percy is his son, but if Mr. D corrects it, he has to explain to Zeus why he pretended he was Percy’s dad so now he’s like “YEP ol’ Perry Johansson is MY child wowie just look at the little fry, you have your mother’s eyes. Please stop standing next to water or you will blow my cover”
Meanwhile Poseidon is just standing off to the side like “how on earth did I dodge THAT bullet”

Requested: Percy Jackson x Son of Iris Reader
Request: the reader gets beat up at camp so he goes to stay with his mother, and Percy and the whole camp get gloomy when he's gone
I'm changing it slightly to have the same premise except the reader goes home to his father, and his mother gets him to go back to camp! <33
Y/n sat in the infirmary, his face roughed up from a beating he got from one of the Ares kids. He felt tears prick in his eyes as the scene replayed in his mind, Will the Apollo kid patching him up caught it. "Hey, you doing alright?" Y/n shook his head, "no, I think I'm gonna go home." He wiped his tears, as he tried not to think about what had happened.
One moment he had been using his powers to entertain the younger campers, the next he had an Ares kid beating the shit out of him. He didn't really understand how or why things even escalated, all he knew was it scared him.
"You don't have to leave, it's gonna be okay." Y/n shook his head. "No, I want to go home. Just for a week or so, I can't do this right now. It's not every day you get the shit beat out of you when you're not doing anything to deserve it." He stood up wincing, as he limped out of the infirmary making his way back to his cabin. It was mostly empty as he didn't have many half-siblings. He grabbed his bag before using a rainbow to travel back home.
Setting his bags down as he unlocked the door, and beelined straight for his room. He didn't want to come out he just wanted to stay in his room, until the initial fear of it all subsided.
---
Percy paced the dining hall back and forth, he hadn't seen y/n since the fight beating had happened. He didn't even know why it happened, all he remembered was pulling an Ares kid off of you and the fear he had seen in your eyes. You're irises literally became almost white.
He was worried about you and when he went to see you in the infirmary, Will said you left. Just left. You completely left and went home.
So now here he was pacing back and forth in the dining hall, he only stopped when Annabeth grabbed his arm. "You alright seaweed brain?" He just shook his head, "no y/n went home after what happened, I don't even know if he's alright." Annabeth looked a little worried at that statement, she knew you weren't really a fighter. She also knew you weren't someone who took lightly to events like that.
"Maybe we should visit him? Maybe we can talk Chiron into talking to Mr. D about letting us leave to check on him?" Percy shrugged, "that would take ages cause Mr. D has never particularly favored me." She looked at him hopefully "it's worth a shot, plus I don't think he hates you anymore. After the war, he's not been as harsh." Percy finally gave in, "fine we'll talk to Chiron, if it doesn't work I'm sneaking out to see him."
-----
It'd been two weeks, you still weren't back and Percy's attempts to sneak out were futile. And everyone could tell he was upset, which was bringing down everyone else's mood. The campers you used to entertain were now bored as well, and they were sad, they missed you.
But you didn't have plans on going back, you had healed decently and only had a few scars now, but you didn't want that to happen again. So you hid out in your room.
-----
You fell asleep watching some movie, you didn't know the name of, cause you hadn't been paying attention. The movie was still playing, so you hadn't been awoken by your door creaking open. And you hadn't noticed the godly presence in your room, not until your head was in their lap.
"my child, I know you're scared. But you must go back to camp, they need you there." Your eyes had opened when she started speaking, and now she was showing you an iris message, it was camp. Percy looked miserable, as did the campers around him, whom he was supposed to be teaching. You couldn't help but feel this need to go back, but at the same time, fear bubbled inside you.
"but- but what if it happens again. I don't- I can't-" your godly parent gently played with your hair, " I know you're scared, but sometimes we have to face our fears to help others. They need you, they really need you there." Your mother stood up, offering your hand. You took it while getting out of bed. In a snap of her fingers, your stuff was packed and you looked presentable.
"Now c'mon son, we must go" you followed her out as she teleported through a rainbow back to camp. As soon as you got there you were greeted by Percy who immediately enveloped you in a hug. "I missed you so much" you held him close to you, "I missed you too."
He pulled back pulling into a short but sweet kiss, before Annabeth rushed over knocking him out of the way to pull you into a hug, "Oh gods, I was so worried about you! You can't just disappear after that, and then not contact me!" She pulled back to scold you then pulled you back into a hug. You smiled at your best friend then pulled her back into a hug. "I missed you too Ann"
Everyone was glad you were back, the aura of the camp seemed so much brighter. All the Ares kids left you alone, Clarisse even came around to apologize for her sibling's behavior. Percy may or may not have forced her to. To say Percy became an overprotective boyfriend after that is an understatement; but you liked it, it made you feel much, much safer.

Snippet of one of my wips. Untitled rn, it’s about Nico being pushed away from camp by Olympian kids. This part takes place after tlo (gonna edit it later and polish up the end)
Happy birthday Neeks!
It started out fine. Better than fine, actually. It was amazing.
He was hailed a Hero of Olympus, a good guy, an awesome kid with cool powers. People approached him constantly the first few days after the war to thank him, to compliment him, to ask about his adventures, to ask him about his powers. People wanted him around for the first time since Bianca died and he was only too happy to answer all their questions, to tell tales of the Underworld and the streets of America.
He should have expected that it would end. He was a Son of Hades. Demigods of Olympus would never want him around for long. It was foolish to hope, to believe, otherwise.
Day Five at Camp Half-Blood broke his heart. He’d made his way over to the Big House to meet up with Connor and Travis, his body relaxed as he walked in the sun. He smiled at the campers he passed, waving at those that he was— dare he say— friends with? He even high-fived Clovis as the boy passed him sleepily.
When he reached the Big House, the Stoll brothers smiled, as always, a little too wide to be reassuring. Connor pulled a box from behind his back and handed it to Nico. He grinned and opened it.
“Is this…?”
“An iPod?” Travis asked with a laugh. “Yeah. We found it when we were cleaning out the cabin yesterday. Figure we should bring you into the modern world, get you to throw out that frickin’ Walkman.”
Nico laughed. “Thanks so much!”
“No problem, dude,” Connor said. “Wanna help us with a prank?”
Nico grinned. “What do you have in mind?”
Two hours later, Nico was hiding in a tree, breathless from laughter as Chiron stomped around camp, furious that his hair and fur was now bright pink. That’s when a group of demigods walked by, talking in hushed tones. Nico listened in.
“…bet he harvested human blood to dye Chiron’s hair,” one of them said. Nicos heart dropped into his stomach.
“You think the Stoll’s would go for that?” Another kid asked.
“Hell yeah, they’re deranged too. Besides, Hermes is half Underworld. That’s why Luke went bad, I’ll bet,” the first one said.
“Makes sense. Bad blood,” a third kid said. He recognized his voice from a few days prior. It was an Athena kid who had leant him a copy of Alice in Wonderland two days ago. He’d told Nico that he was always there to help.
Did he lie? Was he saying that out of fear? He’d thought that the boy liked him.
“Death blood,” a fourth kid laughed. “How many people do you think he’s killed?”
“More than you can…”
They kept walking, and their conversation faded out of Nico’s ears. His eyes stung as if needles had been shoved in them.
He wanted to leave, to find the Stoll’s, to find Clovis, to tell them what happened, to lean on his friends, but he was paralyzed. He couldn’t even summon shadows to pull him away.
As he sat frozen, more campers walked underneath his hiding spot. Most spoke about him, rumours of his supposed insanity. His evilness.
Did you hear he killed his sister?
My boyfriend told me he tried to kill Percy so he could be the child of the prophecy and bring back the titans and giants.
He’s a drug dealer, dude.
He told Luke and the titans our plans. That’s why none of them worked.
He killed Beckendorf and cursed Silena. Turned her into a zombie.
Did you hear he killed Daedalus? I saw it with my own eyes.
All those skeletons he summoned are his murder victims. It’s the only way he can make them do his bidding. He kills them and curses them.
We should get rid of him before he does us all in. I bet he’s lurking around somewhere, plotting how to kill us.
Tears tore out of his eyes, rained down his shirt, stung his skin. Was… was that really what the other demigods thought of him? That he was a monster, a villain, a horror or nature? While they’d been thanking him and being nice, had they only been afraid of him?
Was he really a monster?
He had to go.
He had to leave.
He had to disappear.
Why had he ever thought this time would be different? He didn’t belong. He’d never belong.
Besides, staying could get him killed. At least in the Underworld he had his parents. He had his siblings. He had a home and food on the table. He may be called creepy by the other campers, other demigods may distrust him even more, but at least the people down there didn’t want to kill him.
The shadows pulled up around him and sucked him back.
He was pushed in front of his father’s throne in the Palace, and his dad rushed forward and wrapped him in a hug.
He sobbed into Hades’ chest.
He would never go back to that camp. Never.

During your first day you were put into the Hermes cabin, led by Connor and Travis Stoll. The cabin seemed to be entirely filled already, but apparently there was exactly one spot on the ground left over for you, or at least that is what Travis told you. You sent a wary glance towards Travis, and he just smiled, telling you to get settled.
“Oh!” said Travis before leaving, “Make sure to hold on to any personal belongings, things tend to,” his gaze shifted, “disappear around here. You know, children of Hermes after all.” “Uh, thanks?” you said as Travis just smiled brighter. “Find me if you need anything!” he laughed.
You had wanted to ask around about Nico, but when you told Chiron who brought you to camp he had pursed his lips and sighed, asking you to keep this information to yourself. This didn’t change the fact that Nico had decided to ghost you, right after he knew you lost your parent. However, you soon figured out that the consensus around camp was that he was scary, and possibly a child that could either doom the world or save it. At least, that is if Percy Jackson would meet an early demise between now and the next few months or so. There was a great prophecy happening, the world was ending, and the Greek gods were real.
Quickly enough most of it was explained. Chiron reasoned that the only reason why the hellhounds were after you was because there was an army of demigods and monsters rising- because someone was trying to bring Kronos back to life, but it seemed like this was a sensitive subject for most of the campers. However, even with the camp being on the verge of war, there were not a lot of campers. It was April which meant that the summer vacation had yet to start.
The training you were subjected to was tough- there seemed to be an unspoken need to train everyone as much as possible before the summer, which resulted in a fair number of injuries to your untrained body. This quickly had you decide to take first aid classes, there were never enough healers anyways and you felt as if at least you could try to safe more people in this way.
“You are (Y/n) right?” you looked at the source of the voice to see a blonde boy, with a slight tan. “You are Will, one of the Apollo kids, right?” you asked him back. Before the first aid classes had started, the Apollo kids giving it had introduced themselves, Will being one of them. He gave you an enthusiastic nod before sitting down next to you.
“I just noticed that you seem to have a real knack for first aid,” he gestured to the practice bandage you were holding, “and were wondering if maybe you would like to help out in the infirmary? Although there are some Apollo kids, it never seems to be enough.” he let out a slightly pained laugh, “and with the possible fights coming up we might need more people.”
You slowly nodded, being unable to stop looking at him in his light blue eyes. You shook yourself out of the trance and looked down to your bandage. “I, uh, I don’t know a lot yet?” you shrugged, and Will smiled. “I can teach you, just follow my lead.”
Will was kind enough to take you under his wing, and during the rest of the training he kept a close eye on what you were doing. “If you hadn’t offered to teach me, I would’ve sworn you were micromanaging me.” you laughed as the end of the training was announced, Will just smiled back. “Maybe I am, but you need to learn this right the first time,” Will felt himself smile and he was glad he approached you, his heart fluttering at the thought of befriending you. He noticed a thought crossing your face.
“Hey, can I ask you something?” you looked him in the eye and Will nodded, “What do you know about Nico?” “Di Angelo?” he asked back, feeling his cheeks warming when thinking about the boy, “He- well,” Will shook his head, “He got claimed about a year ago, right after he found out that his sister died. He just disappeared after that.” You slowly nodded your head. “Oh, I see, who’s his-” “Hades.” Will whispered, “It’s why people don’t like talking to him- I think it’s bullshit but-” He seemed to get more and more animated with the sentence. “Are you, his friend?” you implored and once again Will’s face reddened as he shook his head, “Do you have-” you started but Will put his hand towards your face.
“Enough questions! See you around, thanks,” he quickly dismissed himself as he walked away. Oh, Will Solace definitely has a crush on Nico di Angelo. You smiled as you thought about the mysterious son of Hades together with Will. They wouldn’t look half bad as a couple.
Days passed, and you realized that there was a lot more pressure around camp to be ready for everything than what you first thought. Will asked if you would be his assistant for now, so you could learn on the go how to take care of people and be better prepared for whatever might happen. Apparently, people were in fact expecting for the prophecy to resolve this year- this summer. This prophecy was about Percy Jackson – some son of Poseidon – who would reach his 16th birthday soon. You found yourself quickly getting accustomed to the war climate that was around you. The date that would be the end of all was August 18th, and as it was going on May right now the tension was rising. The number of children at camp had been slowly rising, but you did notice some wayward glances being thrown your way.  It must have been because word got around that you were brought in by Nico, and no one seemed to know whether he was trustworthy.
A week into your stay at camp, Nico finally decided to show his face. You were just sitting in the shade when he stumbled out of a tree and on top of you. “Geez, you didn’t have to try and kill me just because the hellhounds failed.” Making jokes surrounding your trauma seemed like a valid coping mechanism – as most children at camp resorted to it. Maybe it wasn’t healthy, but there was not really a camp therapist around.
“You seem to be doing fine.” Nico climbed off of you and sat down against the tree you were sitting underneath. You let out a heartless laugh. “Getting through, so you’re a son of Hades?” you wanted to not think about how you were doing – physically you were fine but at night you barely got through. Nico side eyed you before looking over the campers. “What, you scared?” there was an edge to his tone as he asked the question, almost as if he did not want to hear the answer. “Of you? Not really,” you pulled your legs closer to your body, “Of whatever is going on? Maybe. Why don’t you stay at camp?” You did not hear an answer, and you were scared to look and see that Nico had left. He was supposedly your age, and no one of your age should be alone in times like these.
“The other campers are scared, I don’t belong,” you wanted to object as you went to look at his face, and he was directly looking back, “And there are other things to be done before the war- before we start the fight.” He must have seen your expression because he looked to the side, scoffing, “I do not need your pity, alright.
