Yandere and Overblot? Now you’re speaking my language👀

I’ll put these in a headcanon format for ease of reading. I’m going with the assumption that reader has taken up Yuu’s canonical role. Also, to preface, I’m writing this at a time when Ignihyde episode isn’t even finished yet, so the things I put as Malleus’ Overblot cause will definitely differ from what we actually get in the future.

Warnings for unhealthy relationships (reminder that yandere is a synonym for toxic), mentions of stalking, controlling behaviour, gaslighting, manipulation, unhealthy amounts of jealousy, kidnapping

Vil Schoenheit

The reason why he hasn’t confessed before that moment is likely because he was waiting for your confession

In love or not, he still thought it was beneath him to be the one confessing

Which is not to say he wouldn’t make his love obvious. Expensive gifts (mostly jewellery, accessories, make-up), going out of his way to “fix” your appearance (“Your tie is crooked” is an excuse to be closer to your face, “Let me fix your belt” an excuse to loop his arms around your waist), more frequent posting on Magicam (and then pestering you about it, he has Rook ask you if you’ve seen his new posts, just press “like” he won’t leave you alone otherwise), though, being friends, it probably won’t be obvious to you.

He’ll also randomly come over to Ramshackle with hands full of products, for a “spa day” meant to help you relax and rejuvenate your skin… while he talks shit gossips about every other student he saw you getting a bit too close to. Unsightly potatoes or not, he can’t risk you looking at other men when he’s right there.

He’s the type who gets real jealous real easy.

When VDC comes around, you will, of course, still be their “manager”, which means you will still accompany them to the competition itself

(I don’t even have to mention how elated he was at the new living arrangements that allowed him to be so close to you… and control so much of your daily life)

Which means, there’s no way around it, you will be paying attention to Neige for at least the two minutes their rehearsal would last.

Two minutes too long. Vil could handle you hanging around Adeuce and your other classmates (after all, that’s what the shit-talking spa days were for), but Neige is already a thorn in his side, and someone that is much harder to make a bad person you wouldn’t want to be around of

It just speeds up the Overblot, because he doesn’t wait until their rehearsal is over to check the net and have a moment of “He’s actually good, he might win, I’m gonna lose to Neige again”, he sees you smile once (1) while looking at their rehearsal and is already grabbing the juice and retreating to a secluded spot where he can poison it

In short, he doesn’t try to poison Neige out of a wish to win, but because he doesn’t want to even think about having to fight him over your affection

He’s not confident enough, and it kills him to think of having to give you up to anyone, least of all to Neige

He doesn’t stop to consider that Neige might not even like you because he’s convinced himself that if you caught the Vil Schoenheit’s eye, you’d catch anyone else’s - everyone was a rival to him

When the Overblot itself happens, he’s split

On one hand, he wants you by his side because he did it for you, after all

On the other hand, in that form, he thought himself ugly, unsightly, and he doesn’t want you to see him like that

Depending on your reaction, it can go two ways, if you tell him you don’t think he’s ugly (whether you’re honest or just trying to get him to calm down doesn’t matter) he’ll convince himself that you’re absolutely head-over-heels in love with him and the two of you must be destined for each-other because how else would you think he’s beautiful in that form? And don’t worry - he’ll remember that when he recovers.

As in, he’ll fall into a complete delusion. When you thrash against him and tell him you hate him for kidnapping and isolating you, for controlling everything from what you eat to when you sleep and who you talk to, he’ll just pass it off as a lovers’ quarrel. You still loved him when he was like that, of course you’re just saying you hate him because you’re upset, but it’ll pass.

Or, if you don’t say that, he’ll probably even let the others run and get help from the teachers, as long as he manages to grab you. And he’s not letting go.

He’ll hold you from behind, so you can’t look at him, all the while telling you how all of what happened was your fault. For not looking only at him, for even thinking about Neige when you must have known how much he hated him, for not swallowing your pride and asking him to be yours sooner… Just keep up the conversation, if you distract him long enough, it’ll be easier to defeat him.

Azul Ashengrotto

Another one who won’t want to confess before the Overblot happens, but for different reasons

He grew captivated with you the moment he saw you at the entrance ceremony, but the prospect of a relationship flared up his old insecurities

He’d settle on being friends with you because of that, but he will be working behind the scenes on ways to make you his

Not quite a stalker, but gets obsessed with you to the point where he learns your entire schedule, what you like, what you hate, everything he can learn. His eye for business helps him a lot there.

Won’t even send the twins to stalk you because he thinks if you notice them and actually take a liking to one of them, he’s done for

He’ll become your friend by running into you during breaks between classes, asking you if you’re faring well in this new world, offering you help with your studies, or with anything else really, and so on

Will also try to rope you into signing a contract with him. If you’re smart, you’ll leave it at “Let me think about it!” because he will be adding a clause vague enough to force you into moving to Octavinelle or even getting directly into a relationship with him

It’s hard to be insecure when you’re bound by contract to love only him, right?

He does take notice of people you hang around most and will try to rope them into contracts, as well - he assumes if he takes whatever qualities you like in them, that you’ll like him more

Now, when he Overblots… that’s when the insecurities really flare up

He’s stealing everyone’s magic, because he’s taking what he wants, what he thinks would make him better

But then he sees something that reminds him of you, and he remembers that, more than anything else, just how frustrating it was to keep his feelings bottled up, pretending that he’s happy being just your friend

The anger he had to push down when you came to him, ready to sign a contract, but for the sake of those two idiots, not because you loved him

And he then remembers that he also wants you

He’s not going to wait for you to come back with the photograph. He’s setting off to find you himself, and he will find you

Wastes no time in grabbing your arms, so you can’t leave, and begging you to be his

Azul is really pathetic and whiny about it, he’ll guilt you into accepting, saying things like, “I did everything for you!” and holding every time he helped you with any minor thing over your head, as if you owe him a relationship because he showed you how to mix two alchemy ingredients once

He won’t let up, and his grip will only tighten around you, the tentacles soon joining his arms to keep you fully frozen and in place, with every minute you don’t accept his “love”, his whines and pleading becoming more pathetic to the point that it’s kinda sad to witness

Then, at one point, he’ll start threatening you. Remember, he knows your schedule, he knows your habits, your interests and the things you hate, the things you’re scared of. He will be blackmailing you, or even telling you he’ll make your worst nightmares come true (you have a phobia? You can pray that he didn’t find out about it, it won’t help. He knows, and he knows how to utilise it)

Whether you fold and accept him or manage to somehow make it until Leona, Jack and ADeuce arrive without passing out due to lack of air from being squeezed by all his tentacles at once doesn’t matter

By the time he recovers, he’s already formed three different plans on how to make you his. He “confessed” despite all his insecurities and fears, it’s only proper that you accept, right? Besides, wouldn’t it be such a shame for the entire school to hear all of those embarrassing secrets of yours, or for that one thing that you’re absolutely terrified of to, just purely accidentally, happen suddenly?

Riddle Rosehearts

He had the least time to actually properly become friends with you before his Overblot, but you still managed to crawl into his heart in that short time

Crowley probably sped that up by entrusting your introduction to the school to him

Since Crowley can be certain that at least Riddle knows all the rules like the back of his hand, it’s faster and easier than telling a teacher or a different student

Riddle’s introduction to the school probably lasts an entire week, as he does want to make sure he tells you everything from what you have to do as a student, to what you absolutely mustn’t, and he’ll give you a tour of the campus

It takes him a very short time to “fall in love”, and it probably happens by the third day, when the rules are already out of the way, and the chatting during the tour turns into getting to know you, but he doesn’t figure it out immediately

He just realises that he wants to spend more and more time around you, inviting you to have tea at Heartslabyul, teaching you the Queen of Hearts’ rules, talking with you about your world…

Though he starts making his own absurd rules, and he expects you to abide by them. “We should talk at least thrice a day, don’t you think?” and “I don’t want you spending so much time with Ace, he’s a bad influence”

He turns very controlling, despite not figuring out his feelings are “romantic”, and will make up more and more rules for you to follow, all of which will serve to either a) isolate you from anyone he doesn’t approve of, b) make you spend even more time with him, or c) test how obedient you are to him

He’ll be devastated if you don’t explicitly side with him during the tart fiasco. By which I mean, he’ll be furious

It’s not about wanting to be right, he wants you to follow the rules as closely as he follows them, so why are you trying to say that the rule-breaker wasn’t in the wrong?

And if you then say out loud that you think Ace is in the right, or if you dare to phrase it like “I think Riddle is in the wrong”, he’ll be overcome with the most searing, burning jealousy and a sort of awakening

Very odd time to figure out he’s in “love” when he’s in the middle of a violent Overblot and collaring half his dorm, but it happens.

There’s no need to collar you since you have no magic, but expect to get restrained by the roses. The thorns will dig into your skin, and he will not care.

He’ll tell you you deserve it for supporting rule-breakers when he worked so hard to make sure you were obedient and proper, perfect for him

Riddle will also, at that point, mention that he’s fallen in love with you, and that you absolutely must be his, but that he has to first train you to be more obedient, since you’ve clearly forgotten all that he has taught you up until that point

He actually is convinced you’d be devastated to hear him criticise your obedience, so he thinks that that remark would at least make you ponder your “mistakes”

Because of this, he likely won’t learn anything even after he’s defeated, but will instead double down. He wasn’t weaker “despite being the one who always followed the rules”, he was weaker because his other half didn’t follow them.

He’ll just have to keep you in his dorm, and train you real well, until you can meet his mother. She has to approve of you and your relationship, after all, and, besides, you’ll realise how easy you have it with Riddle once you meet her. Then you’ll be thankful for what an understanding and patient boyfriend you have

Malleus Draconia

Yeah, he fell head over heels the moment he met you in front of Ramshackle that one time same as in canon

You weren’t even afraid of him, as if you couldn’t even feel his aura

Doesn’t consider the fact that you just can’t feel auras and/or don’t even know who he is, Malleus is convinced that you can feel the aura, but just aren’t afraid of him

What does that mean? You guessed it, you’re obviously his soulmate. He won’t stalk you, but he will become very obsessed with you and eager to make you his from the get-go

He’ll constantly be talking about you to Lilia, and Lilia (excited at the idea of Malleus falling in love) will just enable him, so, basically, the only person who could have talked him down and made sure the love that actually started out honest and pure stays that way… won’t lift a finger to help you when Malleus turns forceful and possessive

When you actually find out who he is during the VDC, he finds your flustered reaction to be very amusing, but, more importantly, he’s even more intrigued by the fact that even after that you still want to be his friend

Has seriously already started researching how to lengthen your lifespan, and even if it’s possible to make you into, at the very least, a hybrid of sorts. Maybe he could convince the court to let you get married if he frames it as a political alliance? The world of yours is, after all, something new and unexplored in Twisted Wonderland, surely an alliance formed by marrying you would be useful?

He tries to keep his true feelings hidden until he has all his ducks in a row, because, as far as he’s concerned, the courting process is: 1. he tells you he loves you, 2. you love him back, 3. you both immediately go to the Valley of Thorns and get married

But… the more he sees you hanging around other people, the more he hears about you being involved with the dorm leaders’ (and Jamil’s) Overblots, about you helping everyone, he keeps wondering how come you don’t give him that same amount of attention? Isn’t he your friend, too?

By the time you help Idia with the result of his Overblot, his patience has run thin, and the love has really turned into “love”

Possessive as all hell. When you return to campus with the Overblot Gang, he won’t let you leave his side.

He’ll hang around you during lunch, so that nobody else has the guts to sit at your table, he’ll make his midnight visits more frequent, until he’s visiting you regularly every night

And then, you forget to extend an invitation

It was probably something innocent, maybe a small celebration of one thing or another with you and a few others, probably only the single-braincell trio, nothing of great importance

But he knows what a lively celebration looks like, and when he notices it through the windows during one of those nightly visits… well.

He’s in the dorm in moments, shooting question after question. Why didn’t you invite him, your closest friend (he is your closest friend, right?), do you care so little about him, do you care about those people more, what are they to you, what is he to you?

If he gets the vibe that you don’t care about him as much as he cares about you from any of your answers, he’s losing it. Aura or not, the tension felt in the air is undeniable. It truly feels as if it’s getting harder to breathe and you might faint any moment, that’s how tense it is…

Or maybe it’s just his unique magic.

Between the process of putting the entire campus to sleep (to avoid a scandal that’d arise from anyone witnessing this, he still has the burden of being an heir and all the responsibilities that come with that) and the extreme feelings of jealousy and possessiveness, he Overblots

He makes sure to keep Lilia awake, though, because he’ll want his help when he takes you to the Valley of Thorns. After all, if Lilia, who took care of Malleus from infancy, says that you are right for him, and that you’d make a fine co-ruler (with adequate training), he’s certain it’ll be easier to convince the court.

Well, Lilia is very accepting of that plan, but does want to take care of the Overblot first

Honestly, I can see Malleus just letting Lilia knock him out - after all, they already agreed on what must happen in regards to you, so the faster Malleus gets out of Overblot, the faster he can take you away

He won’t wait to recover, because of the risk that the magic wears off, but don’t think you’ll be able to fight him just because he’s weakened. Remember that Lilia is still at full power and his enabler, and by the time you do wake up, you’ll be in the Valley of Thorns.

Would now be a bad time to remind you that you also foolishly gave the fae your real name when you spoke to him in front of Ramshackle for the first time?

Leona Kingscholar

You probably won’t even realise he considers you a friend, to be honest

When you stepped on his tail on your first meeting, he does threaten to punch your teeth in, and he does start off hating you at first… but he also feels quite the need to stalk you from the beginning

He tries to explain it to himself as he’s just a predator hunting his prey, looking for your weaknesses so he can exploit them if you try to pick a fight again

But, through that stalking, he starts finding out things about you that make him sympathise with you, to the point that he even starts feeling close to you, in a weird parasocial kind of way

It was enough to fool Ruggie anyway, from the way Leona talked about you, he thought you two must have been at least frenemies or friendly rivals

So when Ruggie invites you to watch their Magift practise by saying “I’m sure Leona’d like seein’ his friend cheerin’ him on” you probably had a moment of “does Leona even know my name?”

(He does, and so much more. Don’t worry about it)

He usually does the bare minimum, but if you actually accept the invite and he notices you, he’s going all out. Why? If you asked him, he genuinely wouldn’t know the answer beyond “I felt like showing off in front of you”

It takes him a lot of after-practise chatting and actually becoming kinda friends to figure out he has a crush on you, and when he does, he thinks of it as such a pain in the ass

The inferiority complex is still strong in him, but, unlike with Azul’s insecurities, he wants to confess to you asap

He’s less worried about rejection and more about being compared to his brother, but, considering you’re not of this world and probably don’t even know he’s royalty? His goal is to become your number 1 and to stay that way, before you have a chance to pick up any biases from your surroundings

Of course, why would you believe some random 1st year’s older brother’s account of how cruel Leona is, when you know Leona as your beloved boyfriend who treats you right?

Though he wants to confess immediately, he still has just enough tact, so he tries to find a good time to do so… which isn’t easy.

It’s shortly after he decides to confess that Riddle overblots, and that’s a bad time. Then, practise for the Magift tournament (and the scheming)…

Don’t think he didn’t notice your visit to Savanaclaw and cosying up to Jack, though. Predator beastmen don’t particularly like other predator beastmen getting too close to their belongings, so his inferiority complex is already ready to kick in

He will bring it up right before his Overblot, as a part of his entire “Why do I always have to settle for being second best” rant. “D'you really think some lame piece-of-shit goody-two-shoes dog would treat you better than me?” would be the nicest thing he had to say about Jack.

Honestly, out of all of them, I’d say he’s at the greatest risk of actually dying due to the Overblot, because, as a yandere, he won’t care enough to fight them when he can just grab you and leave, Magift be damned

He’s still lazy and looking for the path of least resistance, and, at that moment, with you right there, and him having basically just confessed, his goal changes into making sure you do not leave him. Even if he’s forced to fight, he’s keeping you by his side (or rather, behind him, as a show of power, to exhibit just how well he could protect you, unlike that dog who couldn’t even stop Leona from grabbing you) the entire time

If you thought he was hot-headed and intimading before the Overblot, just wait until he recovers. Since you now know both his feelings and his true power + unique magic, he’ll stop caring about the little things and start to become really overbearing, controlling, possessive and violent. Don’t even hope for Farena to notice how much you shake around Leona once he drags you to the Afterglow Savannah, the younger won’t listen to him anyway, and the accusations will only make him angrier

Thanks for the ask! Actually, I do plan to make some posts about my anime OTPs. As you can see how much I loved anime, most of the OTPs I loved are from anime series so here are some:

HAK x YONA (Akatsuki no Yona)

I really love the relationship between these two. They're childhood friends, Yona is a princess and Hak is one of the generals of their kingdom. Hak was already in love with Yona since they were young but decided not to confess to her because of their statuses. What I love the most about them is their antics. Hak is quite a bully and since he's already close to Yona since they were kids despite being the princess, he can pretty much tell her whatever he wanted to say, except for the fact that he loves her. Their relationship is already developing in the latest chapters of the manga but let's not talk about spoilers. (￣▽￣*)ゞ

MONKEY D. LUFFY x BOA HANCOCK (One Piece)

This is definitely not canon. But I really love their interactions and how Boa is head over heels for Luffy. Imagine these two having their own kids. Maybe they'll be able to use the emperor's haki at a very young age. LOL

If you're gonna ask me, I wanted an episode where Sanji will realize that Boa loves Luffy and will get jealous again just like how he reacted with Zoro and Hiyori. (Oh, and I do ship Zoro and Hiyori too)

HORI MASAYUKI x KASHIMA YUU (Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun)

GSNK is one of my favorite anime romcoms of all time. And my favorite couple is Hori and Kashima. They have this very funny senpai-kouhai relationship and they are both members of the same club. Hori really loves Kashima's face and finds her very handsome while Kashima thinks that Hori wants to be a princess and wanted to treat him as one. Unfortunately, there are very few moments in the anime so I had to read the manga.

NIFUJI HIROTAKA x MOMOSE NARUMI & KABAKURA TAROU x KOYANAGI HANAKO (Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii)

Otaku couples! Who wouldn't love them? If ever I get into a relationship, I'd like for my partner to at least like anime so we can watch anime together. Hahaha. Okay, enough about me. Going back to these couples, they really are fun to watch. They would bicker and fight just like any normal couple would do but their relationship also showcases their love for anime and games. I won't even get tired of watching these couples all day.

AOI ASHITO x ICHIJOU HANA (Ao Ashi)

I don't usually ship any couples in sports anime because duh, the highlight should be the sports. Hahaha. Who am I kidding?? At least, that's it for me. But the story of these two high school students really gets to me. Hana became the very first fan of Ashito because he reminds her of her first love and favorite player. Hana is very supportive of Ashito and they were already on a first-name basis at the beginning of the story. Whenever Ashito is feeling lost, even if Hana doesn't understand anything about soccer, she always manages to find the right words to say to him. For me, the author did a great job of developing the relationship between these two in the story. This couple is not yet canon but I do believe they will be as I am also updated in the manga. Oops. Spoilers. XD

AKABOSHI BISCO x NEKOYANAGI MILO (Sabikui Bisco)

I do ship these two but I guess not too much in a romantic sense but in a platonic sense? I watched the anime and read until the 2nd volume of the light novel. Speaking of their past, secret lore drop! Yuu-Grim hate the color white. It's like a trauma trigger. They can't be in majorly white rooms or around people if they're wearing their lab coats! Yuu-Grim try to power through alchemy classes, but some days it's too much. No worries though! Ace and Deuce vandalize decorate their lab coats with colorful patches and stickers to break up the white!

hahahaha, lol how about the town having a shipping war?, lol the MalleYuu stans are happy they now have canonical proof their ship is sailing, while the rest are trying to set up their favorite villain with yuu. so which one of them would rise to villain levels of insane just to be a match maker for their ship? hahaha lol match making and wingmanning instead of being scared is funny

I don’t think the town would have a shipping war among the civilians, per say, but there’d definitely be a few debates, and tv channels and magicam accounts would profit off of the scandal for a few days. Yuu is shipped with everyone they’ve ever interacted with, regardless of compatibility or length of interaction, much to their dismay.

They’re mostly pretty tame arguments, something you bicker about with your friends that may cause a fight for a few days, but nothing that anyone’s going to throw any punches or break up a relationship over.

The closest people ever come to “war” like behavior is the conflict between Yuu x Hero and Yuu x Villain fans. The Yuu x Hero fans say the villains are too “dangerous” or “unstable” to be in a healthy relationship with Yuu, while the Yuu x Villain fans point out that some of the heroes are kind of the same, when it comes down to it. At least Yuu looks like they’re enjoying themselves when they’re with the villains, rather than running away from the heroes.

The minions at least know better than to get involved, as their bosses become unpredictable and vindictive when jealous or flustered (as they often are by this kind of talk) and some of them are also in the running. It’s quickly understood that it makes for a better work environment to leave that stuff at the door.

Yuu has to hide their face when they go out, just to avoid the swarms of people pestering them over who they’re attracted to. It’s basically Magicam Monsters on a very personal scale. Yuuken tries to help out as much as he can, but he’s just one guy. The RSA are no help, making token protests, but not actually doing anything to stop it.

Jamil works out first that the best way to get into Yuu’s good books is to avoid talking about it unless they want to bring it up, and Snake Whisper’ing anyone who tries to harass them during his kidnapping attempts. When Yuu sees him rolling his eyes at the news and scoffing that don’t people have anything better to do with their lives, it gets him a smile and a chuckle at least, though they still have that hunted look in their eye.

So he tries to pull off his biggest, most bombastic scheme yet: stealing the entire office building of the Asim business after clearing out the workers, and replacing all of the company logos with his Supervillain symbol and decor, claiming it as an extension of his evil lair. All the discarded logos get dumped outside the RSA headquarters.

That gets people abuzz for a few days, but then the talk begins to die down—

Leona somehow alters everything that the Kingscholar Incorporated name appears on in the city so it now reads “Long Live The King” and steals Farena’s super suit.

Royal Flush tries to steal the victory for the Botanical Center’s “Best Rose” award by infesting the city with roses as large as houses that eat the competition (the other roses, I mean, not the people growing them).

Poison Queen kidnaps and holds all the manufacturers and promoters of shoddy makeup and clothing lines hostage, with the aim of keeping them captive until they learn how to make better products and stop profiting off a certain scandal.

Octo Dealer makes enough deals with people that are violated by talking or hearing talk about shipping Yuu that Leviathan can afford a whole host of unwilling volunteers to help him rob the city’s highest priced restaurants and galleries.

Charon just hacks into people’s phones to brainwash them into loving Zombie Girl Saga over Love Live! The fact that his hacking causes anything mentioning shipping to get deleted/freeze up/release malware is just an unexpected side effect.

Tsunotaro almost manages to trap entire RSA legion of heroes in their headquarters by surrounding the building with thorns that force people to take a nap every time they’re pricked by them. It’s only thanks to a few heroes that were outside at the time receiving the aid of the Prefect that the city wasn’t deprived of its defenders.

And so, the city moves on to the next big scandal.

And while what happened to Yuu doesn’t ever completely go away, they can at least walk around outside now and cover other news stories without getting stopped and questioned every five steps.

🏹 - Rook

To Mar, Rook is... an enigma. There's so much going on with him, but she doesn't really care to try and figure it out. She does consider him a friend though, and even asked him to teach her a little French! She gave up pretty quickly since she couldn't process not pronouncing so many letters.

🐺 - Jack

Jack is one of Mar's many 'adoptive' younger brothers (AKA all the first years). She likes hearing him talk about his cacti, and will even suggest names for them! She wants to help him get over his tsundere tendencies, because she used to be like that not too long ago.

Corbie's relationship with:

😴 - Silver

"I raised that boy." is what he likes to say, but they're definitely more like brothers, though separated by about 85 years. Corbie is one of the few people that can wake Silver from a dead sleep, but he's kept his methods a secret so far. It's a wonder they turned out alright with Lilia and Malleus' questionable 'parenting'

🌟 - Kalim

Kalim is one of the many crushes Corbie has had during his time at NRC. With how peppy, pretty, and just generally shiny the guy is, how is Corbie supposed to resist?? They're both very high-energy, which gives Jamil no end of headaches when the two hang out. They go flying together sometimes, Kalim with his magic carpet, and Corbie with his wings.

💀 - Sam

A fellow man of mystery and collector of strange things. They get along very well! Corbie often pops into the shop to see if Sam has anything new that's shiny, valuable, or cursed.

Percy's relationship with:

♥️ - Ace

By the Great Seven, Riddle has his work cut out for him. These two are both destructive on their own, but together? Absolute harbingers of chaos. They work together way too well, and it's definitely causing gray hairs for the older dorm members.

🤖 - Ortho

Ortho unnerves Percy, to be honest. The kid is cute, sure, but something about him is way off. Percy is friendly and polite, but hopes Ortho will never ask him to read his fortune. He's scared of what his unique magic might find there.

🐱 - Grim

More chaotic solidarity here. Also, how can this cat only eat tuna?? Percy's made it his mission to introduce Grim to lots of new foods, especially those fit for a refined pallette. Yuu probably doesn't appreciate the monster's newfound taste for salmon and swordfish--

I have trouble coming up with hcs wor ships even more so when there isnt a lot of canon or other ppls headcanons but here are all my dumb ramblings

Epel is 100% the leader when it comes to their relationship. He's never been the shy type and pretty much initiates all of the firsts in their relationship. First kiss, first handholding, was probably the first to ask Deuce out, etc. When Deuce wants to do something he has to psyche himself up and it takes forever for him to garner the confidence to do normal things. It would get better the longer they date but for now, when it comes to epel, deuce is a disaster and epel seems to know what he's doing.

This is why its a BIG DEAL to epel when deuce initiates something. Hopefully that makes my one comic make more sense.

Deuce is really the only person Epel can be himself around. In his dorm (and pretty much all throughout the school since Rook is always watching) He has to act and talk a certain way, but when he's with Deuce (alone) all of that disappears and that loud country boy comes out again. Deuce sometimes gets lost in his dialect, but he finds that part of epel really cute.

They keep their relationship suuuper under wraps, mostly by Epel's request. I believe that Epel doesnt care about PDA and wouldn't care who knew they were dating if it weren't for vil and his dormates. If/when they find out Epel would become the center or attention and the talk of the dorm and Vil would try to start dictating what he wears and howhe acts on dates...etcetera. Epel doesnt need that drama in his life.

While I dont know much about Rook at all, I feel like the fact that he doesnt like others prying could also translate to not prying into others' private lives and so hopefully he wouldn't start telling everybody he knows Epel and Deuce are dating. And he 100% would know from the start. He's Rook.

Deuce is already an easy target and alreasy has to deal with his friends clowning on him so as to not add another reason they can tease him for, not telling anyone is probably the best course of action.

However these two really aren't great at concealing the fact that there is obviously something between them. Even if they arent kissing or holding hands in public, they're still teenagers, so wanting to spend every waking moment with the guy they're into is just in their nature. Things like meeting up just to chat wherever in school and walking through the halls together could be seen as friendly but .. 🥴

I think Deuce would definitely tell Ace, Yuu, and Grim at some point, to their total surprise. They'd probably start asking every question under the sun about their relationship.

Neither Epel or Deuce are really much for pet names. Epel finds them embarrassing to say or be called, so they just don't.

You share a room with like 3 other dudes (correct my if im wrong) and theres a ton of students everywhere else. it is IMPOSSIBLE to just be alone together unless you sneak out or skip class and esp for Epel and Deuce their dorm leaders would never be ok with that lol. today during work today i just thought about then hanging out in a closet at night because thats the only time they can be totally alone together. Ik it would kill me lol.

I think Epel is the first to fall and i haven't even finished chapter 5 but it would definitely happen sometime during errr that.

Koshi Sugawara: Honestly, He’s just gay. He doesn’t talk about it a lot but he’s gay. You might find him trying not to be flustered when Daichi takes his shirt off, or just gushing over his boyfriend, but other than that he’s really not too outspoken about it.he just likes to be gay in peace. Asahi Azumane: He honestly doesn’t really know his label. He THOUGHT he was straight just about until he came to Karasuno (more specifically until he met Noya) and then had a gay panic. He still doesn’t really know his label. So he just says he’s Queer. And we support that. Yuu Nishinoya: 100% Bisexual. And he doesn’t have a preference. Girls? Chill. Boys? Chill. Just someone cuddle him. On the outside he’s definitely a fuckin perv, but with his S/O he’s just very soft, he never crosses boundaries and he’s just really sweet. He’s respectful <3. Ryuuosuke Tanaka: Ok so like, Straight. Maybe a little bi-curious. He’s kinda interested in like 1 or two guys but he’s like, mostly straight. Tobio Kageyama: In the closet gay. He’s out to a couple of people (probably Suga, Daichi, and Hinata) but like, other than that, he’s in the closet. But he’s also not making an effort to come out or hide his gayness. He has more the energy of “they’ll find out when they find out “ Bc he doesn’t deem it all that important.  Everyone on the team kinda suspects that he’s gay, but noone really asks (Noya has tried to ask, but the others stopped him bc they said it was “none of his business”)

Shoyo Hinata: He’s Pan. he just likes everyone. He;s definitely really oblivious to romantic feelings but once he realizes it, he’s all heart eyes and he’s trying super hard to be a good boyfriend. 

Kei Tsukishima: That is a gay man right there. He’s a lot like Kageyama. In the sense of he doesn’t really deem it important, and doesn’t really talk about his sexuality. But he’s very well read on sexualities and LGBTQ History, and if anyone on the team is questioning their sexuality he can just kinda tell and he (usually reluctantly) tries to help them figure things out. He also has a bunch of pride stuff in his room bc when he came out to his family thy were SO supportive and got him like, all the pride merch. He’s also one of the only ones on the team to have gone to an actual pride event. Tadashi Yamaguchi: He’s Pan!!! Tho he has a preference for boys he really doesn’t care as long as you treat him kindly. Tsuki has given him a bunch of his pride stuff, and in turn Yamaguchi has dragged Tsukki to every pride event he can. Tsukki complains the whole time but Yama knows he’s secretly having a good time. Kiyoko Shimizu: Honestly, the girls are hard. I think Kiyoko is Demisexual. It really seems like she doesn’t have much romantic (or sexual) interest, but once she finds someone she really likes, and has had a friendship with already, she will love them a lot. <3 Hitoka Yachi: Bi Lesbian. 100%  she definitely likes women more, but there are some men that she also really likes! And honestly as long as you treat her right, then she’s happy to be in a relationship with you! She’s also the most like me in which she just has a Gay Panic™ when she sees a pretty girl.

To say Daichi never gave much thought toward the whole secondary expression thing is probably an understatement. As far as Daichi knows, he's null, same as his parents, so that sort of stuff just doesn’t impact him. It probably never will. Best to live and let live.

People got weird about secondary sex, especially people who didn't have one. The general public has a voyeuristic sort of curiosity with alphas and omegas that makes Daichi uncomfortable. He doesn't want to be weird, and he definitely doesn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable, so he leaves it alone and tries not to think too much about it.

He is definitely thinking about it now. "Are you?"

Suga looks up from his notes, head tilted in his palm, a perfect picture of puzzlement if not for the glint in his eye. "Am I..."

Oh, he was definitely being weird.

Mob Psycho Fic Recs Part 2!

So I keep a running tag on my bookmarks in AO3 with my favorite mp100 fics on it, and now that I have a bunch more it’s time for part 2! Like last time I’ll be including my personal thoughts on them and why I think they’re so good. If you notice your fic on this list and want me to tag your tumblr, let me know!

Effusive Author: Yuu-chi Rating: T Archive Warnings: None Completion Status: Complete Tags: serirei, slice of life, character study, relationship study Summary: In the quiet corners of his mind, Reigen cannot help but be unbearably smug. He thinks of Sakurai’s disapproving expression, and the too-careful way he’d said goodbye to Serizawa at the door. He can just imagine how the other former Claw members are going to react when they find out. Serves you all right, Reigen thinks, fingers tangled in the knot of Serizawa’s tie. None of you seem to really understand him at all. My Notes:  Sakurai warns Reigen not to push Serizawa too hard or manipulate them, but Reigen knows that Serizawa isn’t as childish or dumb as they think he is. It’s very sweet and both Reigen and Serizawa are well-written and in character.

Through Hardships to the Stars Author: BeyondTheClouds777 Rating: T Archive Warnings: None Completion Status: In Progress Tags: no romance, brotherly affection, protective kageyama brothers, canon divergence, hurt/comfort, dad reigen, injury, healing, protective reigen Summary: Shigeo and Ritsu have been on the run for most of their lives, and Claw has never failed to be right behind them. For as long as they can remember, running is all they've ever known. It's all they've ever done. But then, they stumble into the life of Reigen Arataka, and maybe, just maybe, the time has finally come for them to stop running. My Notes: This fic is just... so good. Ritsu and Shigeo protecting each other from harm is simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking, and the writer is so good at creating both tension and moments of levity that let you rest for a bit. Reigen is fantastic in this fic so far despite only being in a few chapters so far, but he’s already proving to be one of the best parts of the fic.

Ostensible Author: CScarlet Rating: T Archive Warnings: Major Character Death Completion Status: Complete Tags: ritshou, character death (or is it?), blood, swearing, panic attacks, angst, psychic violence, corpses Summary: Shou is already searching for Ritsu’s hand with his own. He moves slowly, arm raising in a sluggish arc, like a newborn kitten, blind and unable to control its gait. His complete trust is written all over that poor motion, and Suzuki’s overly sure that Ritsu is going to take his hand. But the thing is, Ritsu can’t. My Notes: This fic threw me for such an emotional loop. It’s extremely well-written and ominous, with a very distinctive and mysterious feel to it. The whole thing is super atmospheric and has maybe one of the most jarring and impactful twists/realizations I’ve ever seen in fanfiction, and once I realized it it made me grin like a madwoman despite the dark atmosphere and content. One of my all-time favorite mp100 fics.

Milk Doesn’t Taste the Same Anymore, Does it? Author: Nyomio Rating: T Archive Warnings: None Completion Status: Complete Tags: fluff and angst, happy ending, post-mogami arc, fallout & recovery, transitioning back to normal, swearing Summary: Ritsu knows something is wrong. He feels it before he can even see it. Reigen knows something is wrong without even needing psychic powers. It's all in the body language. Teru doesn't know what's wrong, but he can feel it in the air and in the motions his friend makes. Dimple knew something would be wrong as soon as they left Mogami's hellish world - the question was just how bad it would be. None of them know how to solve it, but they sure as hell were going to find out. After all, if something was bothering Mob - their student, brother, best friend, partner - well, it was bothering them, too. They were going to help. After all, Mob had helped all of them just so much - and Mob was going to learn to accept help back. After all, what goes around comes around, and Mob was overdue for some help of his own. My Notes: This is a really sweet recovery fic focusing on Mob’s trauma post-mogami arc and how it affects him in the days and weeks afterward. It’s overall fairly light-hearted despite the subject matter and has a heavy focus on how much Mob’s friends/family care about him, which is always nice to read.

Permanency Author: Aerugonian Rating: T Archive Warnings: None Completion Status: In Progress Tags: serirei, canon divergence, dad reigen, reigen as teru’s dad, canon divergence, referenced child abuse/neglect, found family, swearing, slow burn Summary: Reigen never planned on having kids. His relationships have always been short and shallow, he doesn't really care for the idea of marriage (except for the tax breaks), and that's without even considering his lack of interest in women. Reigen can barely take care of himself half the time. The point is, he’d make a terrible parent. Letting Teruki stay on his spare futon after the kid’s apartment was destroyed during the Claw attack was an impulse decision. Reigen never had any illusions that he was a good guy, but he wasn’t such an asshole that he’d let a fourteen-year-old stay on the streets alone. They'd find Teru's parents any day now, and everything would go back to normal. Teru's lack of concern over their whereabouts was weird, but surely no parent in their right mind would ever leave their kid on his own without even a phone call to let him know they were alive. Right? My Notes: If you’re a fan of dad Reigen or Teru as Reigen’s adopted son/ward, this is the fic for you. It’s cute, tender, sweet and just a little heartbreaking, focusing on Teru’s estrangement from his parents and the way Reigen becomes privy to that information after the world domination arc. I really love the way Reigen is written in this fic as a guy who really isn’t cut out to be a father but finds himself unable to say no when Teru needs his help, I think it’s very in character and makes for a really fun and interesting dynamic between them.

Five Second Rule Author: SpiritusRex Rating: G Archive Warnings: Unspecified (no alarming content) Completion Status: Complete Tags: angst, family, time travel, bad decisions, hurt/comfort, brotherly bonds Summary: Ritsu discovers something new about his powers. And then he takes it too far. My Notes: Another fic that quickly shot to the top of my favorites list as early at the first chapter. Despite having short chapters and a relatively simple premise, every chapter has a lot of emotional weight and relevance, packing its own punch despite the low word count. Ritsu having time manipulation abilities wasn’t something I knew I needed until I came across this fic, but it’s such a cool and fun idea that I instantly fell in love with. The author’s writing has a very distinctive and engaging tone and makes great use of the short chapters to pack as much as they can into each installment and it lands pretty much every time. I was so impressed every chapter how they managed to work the time travel concept into so many parts of the story in so many unique ways, definitely a must-read for any fandom member!

tea leaf bandages Author: shcherbatskayas Rating: T Archive Warnings: None Completion Status: Complete Tags: no romances, ageswap au, post-mogami arc, mental health issues, panic attacks, PTSD, hurt/comfort Summary: Kageyama Shigeo knows that he isn't the most observant person in the world, but he knows when something is wrong with his students. And so he knows that ever since the Mogami job, Reigen just hasn't been right. (If only he knew exactly what was wrong.) My Notes: An ageswap AU ficlet where Reigen gets possessed and manipulated by Mogami instead of Mob. It focuses on the fallout and Shigeo attempting to comfort Reigen as a student without prying too deeply. It’s very sweet and sad but does have a happy ending.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words Author: Hino Rating: T Archive Warnings: None Completion Status: Complete Tags: post-mogami arc, mute mob, PTSD, dad reigen, sign language  Summary: Six Months trapped in that world didn't just go away the moment Mob opened his eyes. He tried to speak and found himself unable. But Reigen, he always knows how to talk to someone. My Notes: This fic is so nice. In the wake of the Mogami arc Mob becomes mute due to his PTSD from the events, so Reigen teaches him sign language to help him communicate better. It’s really sweet to see Reigen patiently teaching Mob (and Dimple trying his hardest to learn too, bless him), and Mob being just really excited to learn and have another way of communicated that doesn’t require him to speak. It’s well-written and heartwarming.

Leftovers Author: SpiritusRex Rating: G Archive Warnings: None Completion Status: In Progress Tags: time travel, 5+1, brotherly bonding Summary: Ritsu knows now how his power works.But he thinks that, with his brother's help, he can push it further than before, and maybe even do something meaningful with it. (Five times Ritsu and Shigeo use Ritsu's time travel to comfort someone, and one time it's used to comfort Ritsu himself) My Notes: The sequel to Five Second Rule, which is also on this list. It’s only a few chapters in atm but I’m super excited to see where it goes! There’s sure to be plenty of time travel hijinks in this one as well, plus Ritsu and Mob’s sibling relationship is very good.

When there’s nothing but the long way ‘round Author: taizi Rating: T Archive Warnings: None Completion Status: Complete Tags: terumob, slow burn, found family, dad reigen, lots of fluff, getting together Summary: If it were anyone else, his tone would have been teasing, and the thoughtful lift of his brow would have been playful, and the tilt to his mouth would have leaned closer to a warm smile. As it is, only bits and pieces make it through Kageyama’s careful repression, shining like irrepressible dawn through tiny cracks in a window shade, and Teruki blinks rapidly, something like sunspots dancing across his eyes. My Notes: An oldie but a goodie! It’s a series of loosely connected terumob shorts for the mp100 valentine’s day event back in 2017, and maybe the cutest terumob fic I’ve read so far. It’s ridiculously sweet and fluffy, told from Teru’s perspective, and it made me cry with how just soft and nice it was to read it. It’s a quick but really worthwhile read if you just want to feel good.

It's actually pretty interesting how agreed upon certain things in fanon are vs how much of it is actually canon. An example being how (back a few years ago) in fanfics fan usually portrayed Kanda and Lavi as super close. Like best friends almost. But if you look at canon, how much interaction did those two teally have? It's cited how well they fight together but Lavi and Kanda fought well w/Allen before they even cared much for him. Most you get is Kanda getting irritated w/Lavi calling him -

2 Yu before giving up and being a occassional prank target (which apparently Kanda’s a boring target for). In canon and other sources Kanda is stated as being personally close to Lenalee, Teidoll and Marie (which you see in canon). In canon itself we’ve also gotten plenty of emotional developmemt in regards to Kanda’s relationships w/Johnny and Allen. For Lavi, his main friendships have always been Allen and Lenalee. He’s had much more focus w/his bond w/Krory over his bond w/Kanda. -

3 Frankly when you get down to it Kanda has more deeper genuine relationships then lavi does (makes sense. Lavi’s still new at this). Not saying they don’t have a friendship or their small moments. But they are definitely closer to a number of other characters then they are to each other. It’s kind of interesting what the fandom will latch on to promote as canon when there’s not much in canon to support it to that level (personally I’d love to see more Krory+Lavi friendship moments).

welp so I know a lot of people who love them together and I kinda get it?? And I don’t want to be alienating them  either so i hope it doesn’t come this way dkjhfd 

Fanon had been in place for about *checks* 15 years, christ. DGM was also at its peak when the first anime came out from 2006 to…. 2008? And Kanda’s bounds and Lavi-being-a-liar all came rather late in that production when you think about it.

Idk, back in 2009 (when I was in the fandom) i know it was pretty much used in every fandoms to play on the “what if” and wonders how some relationship could go would they be given more time. Lavi and Kanda specifically got a lot of focus because 1) they are so different that they make for good foil and interesting ideas to develop i a fanon context, 2) They’re part of the main four and it’s often the case to want all four of them to have balanced relationships with each other (not just “hey so we accidentally all ended up caring about the same guy, what do we do”), 3) we know they have a past, and their developments with others relationship is more recent.

But most importantly, while i hadn’t watched it fully, the anime came out with a toooons of fillers, and i know some of them were missions between Kanda and Lavi in which they bickered and bantered a lot more than we’ve actually seen in the manga. It opened a large brunch of ideas to develop. And the anime team liked the main four (…. the three main guys tbh) ways too much and would rather develop them than develop the others characters and their bounds (and when the anime came out we had no idea how Kanda got along with anyone, like we knew he was a student of Tiedoll alongside Marie and Daisya, but we didn’t know if they cared about each other until the destruction of the order arc, which was far after the anime started making episodes. Likewise for one of his more caring scene with Lenalee that shows how much history they have that is set pretty late in the timeline in comparaison to what the anime covered to make fillers.)

So i think there’s a part of wanting to see back that dynamic from the anime back in the manga. While ye the fillers of the anime are far from canon. But I can’t blame anyone who watched it to want to see that dynamic again y’know? (especially since I know a ton of people prefer to watch anime over reading manga. Dgm is kinda one of the worst case of “you have to read the manga, don’t watch the anime unless you want bonus” for me, but most people will try out the anime first to get a vibe and all. Kinda make me wish to have an anime adaptation to The Panel so i wouldn’t have to worry but yaknow.)

Now that THAT is being said: you’re entierely right about canon and their dynamic.

We have hints of their dynamics but they’re far from being very good friends. Hell even just Lavi calling Kanda “Yuu” now that we know that the only person who called him that was Alma and that it reminds him of Alma? That’s not just teasing that’s triggering. Like no wonder Kanda wanted to slice Lavi up multiple times. (not that Lavi knew it was that serious but yaknow he’s still a prick)

As for the Pranks, I just think Lavi had no survival instinct and Kanda has the blade easy so that makes for an easy rush. But even there sometimes Kanda is not receptive enough, too used to it. 

Lavi meanwhile only showed really profound connection with Allen, Lenalee and Krory i think? Well and Bookman, but that’s it. Lavi doesn’t connect much with people, especially not on an emotional level. He is aloof, he likes to joke and prank people, but he doesn’t do that because he cares. He’s just taking his fun and all.

Meanwhile, ye, Kanda had surprisingly very profound relationship with people, like you mentioned, Marie, Tiedoll, Lenalee and now Johnny and Allen. I think it’s again the fact that Kanda is more honest in general. Aside from those laters it’s all people he grew up with, so that might help a lot also with how people got used to his antics. Like it still cracks me up that Lenalee can just stop Kanda from being all stabby-stabing just bu knocking him gently over with a cardboard in their first appearance. Like I doubt Lavi would have thought about it this way for exemple.

Kanda and Lavi seem more to have this “this is my very annoying co-worker” dynamic, like, you tolerate them but man do they bother you. But they do have some kinship and moments that make you see that ye, they’ve been at it for a few years, they’re probably at least on “good term”. Personally i love how in synch they are in the attack on the order arc. But that sure doesn’t make it “best friend” qualities.

So ye I would mostly blame the anime for what happened, and the fact we kinda want to see the main four getting along and all and that Lavi and Kanda are the only pair who didn’t get any development now that I think about it.

But same I would love to see more Lavi+Krory. Or more Krory in general. They have such a nice ground to build on things there.

Krory never had a lot of focus from fans sadly, even Miranda always was more liked… Which is odd bc following my logic, Krory does appear more in the anime than Miranda ever did. Idk if it’s the vampire stuff, the different personalities he has when he transform, just the fact he’s older ect.. but people seemed to not like him much.Actually now that I remember, the anime fillers made him kinda whiney when out of his innocence? I don’t remember per se but i remember people complaining about that. That might not have helped his case. (sicne whiney was apparently the worst thing a character could be in 2009).

So ye i’m all for the revolution of remembering Krory and Lavi have more of a bound in general. One can hope right?

It's like any other show, but-  

"Yuu, I would never drop you."

Okay, like I said, I give stars too easily, but fuck it. This is one of my favourite fics (i have more too, but well). The amount of trust exhibited in this is pure beautiful. It reminds me of the actual Yuulma relationship, without the animosity of akuma! Alma v/s Kanda rivalry in canon. Fuck, just go read it.

•  Chasing Something Just Out of Reach ⭐⭐: Each gives them one more chance to see the other again.

This is one of those poetic gems, if you know what I mean. Tbh, the entirety of the Yuulma ship is poetic, but whatever. Soulmate AU.

•  Cutting Loose ⭐⭐: "Yuu, it's cold," he says.Kanda looks at him and finds himself flustering. Alma's eyes are painfully soft and heavy, lips curved in a smile that may be mocking everything but Kanda himself. Lotus flowers scatter the bed sheets. Lotus flowers fill the room. Whenever he breathes in these days he can smell them, taste their perfume on his lips. As always, he blocks them out, rewrites what the room must look like without them. Alma lying in bed tired, holding the bed sheet out. Nothing more. It's easier to block things out.

Much needed Yuulma porn with feelings. Yes, I'm sad. And i love this one.

•  D.Gray-Man : Half is Better Than None ⭐⭐⭐: "Shut up," Kanda says one morning, eyes still closed.

"--Eh? I wasn't saying anything. I definitely didn't! I was talking in my head but I wasn't saying anything aloud. -- Yuu, are you psychic now? Have you become psychic?! That's so cool!"

"I could hear the way you looked at me," Kanda says.Alma is silent, and Kanda thinks about how stupid it sounds, what he just said.

"Sorry," Alma says, and when Kanda looks at him, he's smiling to himself, small and sad, and has lifted himself onto his palms, hauling himself over to the broken-out window of the abandoned church they're staying in now.

"You aren't sorry."

"I am," Alma says. "I'm really sorry."

"Why?"

"I love you, Yuu," Alma says, and attempts to fling himself out the window.

Okay, this is truly my most favourite of favourites, I can't say how much i love it. It's post-canon, utterly sad and beautiful and funny at times and the best of its kind.

•  cracks in the sky ⭐⭐⭐: They both live, in a manner of speaking. In some ways, they don't.

Kinda canon divergent and so so precious, okay maybe i just love Alma too much.

•  Economies of Scale ⭐: Kanda never realized how much there was to see outside the lab. He wished Alma could've seen it, too. It was so much bigger than they thought it was.

SO FUCKING SAD!!!😭

•  falling ⭐⭐⭐: There's an angel following Kanda, and he's never sure whether that's a blessing or a curse.

Hauntingly beautiful and sad. Especially sad, according to me at least.

•  In his Heart ⭐⭐: Alma's last resting spot is mine and mine alone.

This one is super sad, there's the canonical character death and Yuu finally being, well, sensible in way  i guess.

•  Inherently Fantastic, Wildly Fanciful ⭐⭐⭐: He's like something out of a fairytale, beautiful in his imperfection. The problem, though, is that Alma isn't real.

Another beauty, it's got one of my all time favourite tropes : hallucination. Or something. And this made me cry a lot, so beware. I'm also noting this pattern with all the Yuulma fics getting loads of stars. What's going on?????

•  recurrence ⭐⭐⭐: Alma knows his Yuu would probably consider it a curse, doomed, but he’s elated - one lifetime after another, criss-crossing into a braid of eternity, finding him in every one.

One of the very best Yuulma soulmate AUs out there.

•  time has brought your heart to me ⭐: Every time they come together, it's a like the universe has designed that moment in time specifically for them.

Klance and Yulma Parallels, and Why If Yulma Happened, Klance Will Too!

Klance = Keith X Lance from the not-yet-canon couple Voltron: Legendary Defender

Yulma = Yuu Kanda X Alma Karma , the canon couple from D.Gray-man

Despite all this, Kanda was always suspiciously absent from the talks about romance in the manga’s “discussion” rooms, in which the characters answered the fans questions about themselves. With the exception of one where I think it was mentioned he would probably like a “dignified” person????  Regardless, when asked about Lenalee Lavi and Allen were both there and implied that at the very least they thought she was attractive (because of course guys like girls in miniskirts), while Kanda...was not.

Funnily enough, Keith’s endgame is almost never mentioned.....and questions about who he likes/if he likes anyone are avoided. Same as Kanda’s were

Couldn’t recognize their crushes at first (Kanda not realizing it’s Alma, Keith asking who Lance is) but probably still knew somewhere deep down anyway.

Gotta love how Alma and Lance are on the same side of the screen and Keith and Kanda are. Just goes to show how similar they are I guess :) lol

Keith and Lance were working together pretty quickly and almost definitely considered each other friends (though I doubt Lance would have admitted it that early) around halfway through the first season

So if they went from rivals to friends quickly....and Kanda and Alma got together because that was the natural development of their relationship, surely the natural development of Keith and Lance is romance as well! I mean heck, it was even stated by the producers that the natural progression of Keith and Lance’s relationship is romance!!! And if you look at Kanda and Alma’s, you can see it! :)

Okay yeah I know a lot of this is a stretch...really it all came about because I noticed the similarities in personality between Keith and Kanda(actually this was part of the reason one of my friends decided Keith was her favorite immediately, despite not generally having those character types as favorites), and realized their relationships had a few similarities as well. And honestly, if Kanda and Alma getting together can happen in a Shonen manga like D.Gray-man, then Keith and Lance can get together! Also I really, really want a scene with him like the one I describe and show below.

TLDR: The two ships are pretty similar which means if Yulma happened, Klance defiantly has a chance.

Also, after Keith admits to liking Lance/after they get together, I want a scene like this super adorable one below  from D.Gray-man where he blushes around another guy because even being reminded of Lance makes him swoon lol. I mean look at that blush!!! So cute from the hothead. I mean obviously I want him to blush around Lance too, but blushing around anyone who reminds him of Lance because he likes Lance THAT much is a cute thought to me.  I guess it just shows how much he cares.

PS: Honestly, with how many people beg for representation in media, I’m kinda surprised D.Gray-man isn’t talked about more often. Because honestly the inclusion of Yulma is pretty much all of the rep you guys beg for wrapped up in a neat and beautiful relationship. Alma is basically trans (was a girl, had their brain implanted into a male body), and Kanda and Alma were in a relationship before the body swaps, and it changed nothing about their love. Kanda wasn’t even phased when he realized, and just accepted Alma for who (s)he was. There was no “no way” or “it can’t be”. He just fully accepted them as they were and it’s absolutely beautiful. Also, it’s in a Shonen manga. C’mon, when does that ever happen in a Shonen series? Though if you’re gonna hate, don’t bother reading it please.

Sai, I just went and watched Yugioh Everything's video on Yusaku and Aoi having Autism and Depresson, respectively. While he makes some solids points and I agree with them having mental problems, he basically said Vrains is the first yugioh to talk about 'such dark topics.' If your up to it could you bring up some characters in previous ygo series (Arc-V or all your choice) that implied to have mental problems cause Vrains is not the first by a long shot lmao.

Lmao sorry this answer is kinda late since the past few days have been busy for me and ironically enough you sent this right when I just got back from a grad school info session (regarding psych programs ofc) which made me realize I kinda wanna pursue a career more along research in the field of abnormal psychology which is one of my stronger areas of knowledge in psychology already anyway. I just really like it that much.

So yeah I did see this ask like almost right when you sent it but it was late and I had just gotten home after a nice day and YE’s videos haven’t been making me too happy lately so ofc sorry I kinda avoided watching it that night cuz I didn’t wanna ruin my nice day (just in case). But now that I watched it, well as far as I can remember he didn’t outright say that this is the first time a Yugioh’s dealt with these issues before (but I can see how you got that he perhaps implied it).

That all being said, I still have just a, I’d say, general yet above-average knowledge in these subjects (hey I have a degree in Psych, yes, but that doesn’t make me an expert by any means and I’m not afraid to say that, hell I love learning new things about psych all the time) so please keep that in mind (also please keep in mind too that I cannot professionally diagnose anyone, but for the sake of discussion about the psychology in fiction, I can definitely give my thoughts on what would be the most probably diagnosis for certain characters). Besides that though, if YE does actually believe that this is the first time these kinds of issues have ever been dealt with in Yugioh, well wow idk how much he’s been paying attention before this...

Regarding his statements on the Vrains characters and the disorders he mentioned, I’ll give it to him. In fact, I too am pretty sure by now that all of Yusaku’s “quirks” point to Autism, though, and YE didn’t mention this so idk how knowledgeable he is regarding other personality disorders, he also seems to show symptoms of OCPD (obsessive-compulsive); these include being obsessed or preoccupied with making lists and keeping track of small details, over preoccupation with work or meeting goals to the point of neglecting your social life or forming close relations, unwillingness to see ethics or values in someone else’ light, being stubborn, etc. Wouldn’t surprise me if he has both since there’s a high co-morbidity between ASD and OCPD.

In regards to Aoi, again yes I agree. Girl has depression. It’s very obvious (this I can say with confidence as someone who has suffered previously from it [note: I sought help and let’s just say I’m very glad I did]. The Paranoid Personality Disorder... (I’m gonna be honest.... I didn’t pay enough attention to Aoi’s character enough to determine a firmer answer and I don’t really feel like rewatching the ep). According to him, it’s a possible thing. He did mention that she could just be acting that way because her whole entire life she’s been kinda used so she has a general distrust of people, but that’s just the thing. If in fact he’s correct about her symptoms matching up, it doesn’t necessarily matter if she’s acting this way due to her childhood trauma, in fact, that’s even more reason to validate her suffering from PPD (another area I feel more confident about in psych is child/adolescent development and hey guess what, lots of personality disorder symptoms start showing up during childhood or are even a direct cause of childhood trauma).

Speaking of childhood trauma, you wanted to know characters from other series that have mental illnesses/suffer from personality disorders? Well... (*cough cough* as a psychologist, why do you think I enjoyed Arc V so much?)...Here’s a quick list of just a few select characters I can think of:Arc V:-Yuya (remember, the childhood trauma I mentioned): Oh my poor boy suffers from dysthymia. Again, I’m pretty confident here because I can relate (because I suffer from it too ahaha). While we don’t know exactly for how long, it’s been at least three years with it (ugh) since his father’s disappearance and all the bullying. He shows so many signs of it throughout the show (it would be pointless to get screencaps because the signs are literally everywhere): dysthymia (sometimes called “persistent depressive disorder”) is noted by sadness, anger, irritability, mood swings, loss of appetite, insomnia (did you notice in Synchro when we was feeling depressed in his room he didn’t eat at all and stayed up all night despite being noticeably tired), indecisiveness, low self-esteem, among others. I’m sure people might argue against me, trying to say “oh well he’s energetic for the most part and still smiles a lot” well guess what, there’s lots of entertainers, comedians, performers, and just overall really sociable people who do a terrifyingly good job hiding it.I saw someone once mention that they headcanoned Yuya also has Histrionic Personality Disorder and well... he actually does show signs of it but not so much that he actually meets criteria. Even for being an entertainer tho, he shows this more than the others (either Dennis, Yuzu, or even Yusho), but again, can’t be diagnosed with it.Lastly, and this is more of a post-canon thought regarding the prognosis of his mental health... he’s definitely gonna deal with some dissociative symptoms for the rest of his life (or until somehow, some way they find a way to separate him and the other Yuus, and even then still...). There is just no way in hell you can convince me that he’s not gonna experience dissociation on a regular basis with 3 other people living inside him. Same goes for Yuzu. (Side note: RIP my heart.)

-Shun: He suffers from PTSD. Oh man he’s kind of textbook PTSD: irritableness, mistrust, social issolation, flashbacks, hostility, fear, anxiety, paranoia, agitation, hyper-vigilance, etc. (I’d also say Yuto and Kaito suffer this too).

-Reria: Also suffers from PTSD, but since Reira is much younger, coping with childhood PTSD is a lot harder and leads to more frequent panic attacks, flashbacks, intrusive or unwanted thoughts, nightmares, avoidant behavior, etc.

-Yuri: Conduct Disorder, aka the precursor to Antisocial Personality Disorder. He’s 14 so he can’t really be diagnosed as the second. Anyways, what really tipped me off about him having this is his blatant disregard for any remorse towards harming others. He just doesn’t feel it. On the contrary, he straight up says he enjoys it, says he needs it “just like breathing”, he’s an overall really violent kid and starts fights with literally anyone that gets in his way (like... it’s even his catchphrase “You’re in my way!”), has no knows long term close relationships with anyone (reeaaally wish they had given us more of him and Dennis together tho...), and he’s known to deceive, trick, or lie to others with no guilt at all. (He’s also seen as similar to past villains of Yugioh, outright disproving the implication that Vrains is the first Yugioh to deal with personality or mental disorder issues).

-Zarc: Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Again, another textbook example. And yes, similar to Aoi’s possible Paranoid Personality Disorder, this is canonically induced into his personality as a result of the society he lived in praising his violent duel style and eventual lust for power due in part to the same reason. But just because it was induced due to circumstance doesn’t make it any less valid. It’s another form of trauma, just like Aoi’s whole “being used all her life” led her to develop PDD.

And well there’s more examples in Arc V (you can also argue that Shingo also suffers from NPD to some extent, etc.) but I think those are the biggest ones I can think of right now.

And of course, though I’ve seen them all, I know Arc V the best + it’s just the one that’s in my most recent memory so it’s easier to talk about them, but some other quick examples from the series that I can think of:

DM:-Kaiba: Again, Narcissistic Personality Disorder.-Marik: I think he’s a strong candidate for being diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (at least the way his villainous arc portrayed him as).-Bakura: Actually an adult so actual Antisocial Personality Disorder.

GX:-Judai: Depression & Dissociation. Yep.-Ryo Marufuji/Hell Kaiser: Definitely could argue that he displays signs of Sadisitic Personality Disorder, just keep in mind that it is no longer included in the DSM-V so it is not something someone would be typically diagnosed with professionally.-Manjoume: Another Narcissist.

5D’s:-Jack Atlas: Okay so he’s more of an accurate example of Histrionic Personality Disorder, minus the sexual criteria (which, if the Yugioh anime genre/audience allowed, I’m sure would be plausible since he also displays signs of NPD, implying that he might actually want that kind of physical/superficial attention).-Aki: Also like Aoi, displayed symptoms of PPD, though I’d argue she definitely has it and just learns to cope over time after befriending Yusei & co.-Sherry: Shows signs of high functioning ASD (being perfectionist and being obsessed with finding out about her parents murder), but ASD isn’t something I’m too confident talking about yet so maybe don’t quote me on this.-Divine: I’d say you can argue he’s has Antisocial Personality Disorder.

Zexal:-Vector: Another one with.... I mean... he’s not really 13 or 14, he’s actually, what, like 100s of years old? So instead of Conduct Disorder, he actually has Antisocial... technically...-Fuya: OOOOOHHHH You thought I wouldn’t remember a character like him??? (Again, as a psychologist, these are the characters I like the most). He’s memorable to me, despite being a minor character, cuz I’d say he definitely displays signs of having Avoidant Personality Disorder, especially with regards to using his Esper Robin personality to avoid all those intrusive, self-conscious thoughts he doesn’t find pleasant.-Shark/Ryoga/Nasch: Also has PTSD.-IV: He’s borderline Antisocial. Not quite. But almost there.

OOOKAYY Well anyways, those were just a bunch of examples. There’s way more, I’m sure that I missed A TON. But yes it’s as you said, Vrains is definitely NOT the first time in Yugioh history where characters have had to struggle with mental health / personality disorder issues. Far from it.
