some follow-up thoughts on BnHA 306
mostly Deku angst, but also a little Baku angst (and some TodoBaku angst) mixed in for good measure. because thereās plenty of angst to go around.
1.Ā āif Iād only been stronger...ā
Iāll talk more about Deku later in this post as well, because thereās definitely plenty to talk about; this is the most character development heās gotten in almost 200 chapters. but for starters, I want to discuss the possible parallels between Dekuās current character arc, and what is arguably the most iconic moment of angst/character development in the series.
remember how this kid, who up until this point had rarely seemed to give two fucks about the world around him, suddenly revealed that he blamed himself for being the downfall of All Might? remember how it came almost out of nowhere? how heād been hiding it, and trying to suppress it?Ā ābut even if I try to forget... sometimes it all just comes rushing back.ā
yeah. so anyway, I got to thinking -- if being the cause of one heroās downfall could affect someone this badly, what about being responsible for the downfall of all heroes?
what if a boy who wanted nothing more than to keep people safe suddenly found himself at the epicenter of a disaster that killed hundreds, possibly even thousands of people?
now obviously, this is not the sole thing thatās troubling Deku right now; this kid has a whole array of traumas as of the War arc. like, you know itās bad when Society As We Know It Coming To An End Partially Because Of You is the least of your problems. but still, I think this is worth bringing up, because the hero kids blaming themselves for things that arenāt their fault is hardly anything new. and yet, what with everything else thatās been going on -- all of the Todoroki drama, and Vestige revelations, and hospital antics, and political strife -- I feel like itās easy to forget or overlook this little detail.
the fact is that AFO put this entire plan into motion solely in the hopes of finally obtaining OFA. every single thing that happened at Jakku -- Tomura powering up; Machia waking up and going on his rampage (after being ordered to do so by Tomura); and even Dabi/Touya choosing this moment to finally strike (because he knew this was when the reveal would do the maximum damage -- when peopleās faith in heroes was already wavering) -- every last bit of it can ultimately be traced back to AFOās desire to steal OFA. which, obviously, makes it AFOās fault, not Dekuās. but then, Kamino wasnāt actually Katsukiās fault either. it wasnāt his fault the villains went after him (but he blamed himself anyway), and it wasnāt his fault that people got hurt in the ensuing battle to save him (but he blamed himself anyway).
just. I think weāre underestimating just how strong of an impact all of this likely had on Deku. we havenāt really had the chance to see him process it yet. heās been too busy, and there have been too many other things going on. but Iām telling you guys, that empty look in his eyes in the final page of the chapter? I can all but guarantee you that at least some of that emotional weight is coming from this.
sure would be nice if he had a friend who knew exactly what that was like, and could help him process the guilt and all of the other associated emotions, just like Deku once helped him. unfortunately Iām not so sure things will be that easy this time around. anyways though letās move on to a couple of other thoughts and speculations.
2.Ā ā...and I bullied him.ā
one of my least-favorite BnHA fanfic tropes is the one where the rest of class 1-A somehow finds out about Katsuki and Dekuās history -- i.e. that Katsuki bullied Deku throughout most of their childhood. mind you, itās not the concept itself that I dislike; itās mostly how itās used. a lot of times itās just an excuse to have all of the other kids turn on Katsuki and ostracize him; either because the author thinks thatās what he deserves, or else so that Deku can eventually come to his rescue and defend him and shame the rest of the class for not seeing how much heās changed. either way, itās usually pretty awkward to read, and more often than not the characters are pretty OOC (especially Ochako and Todoroki).
however! thereās a big difference between fanfic and canon, and just because Iām not a fan of this trope in the former doesnāt mean it couldnāt be executed well in the latter. and lately Iāve been thinking about this a lot. mainly for three reasons:
the recent (can we still call it recent?? well whatever) scene where Katsuki confessed to All Might that he used to bully Deku is now one of my favorite scenes in the entire series, and proof that this can be executed well.
both Todoroki and Deku have finally had their respective big secrets revealed to the rest of the class. so like, idk. feels like it just might be secret-revealing season now, you know?
and lastly, as a result of Dekuās secret about OFA finally being revealed, the rest of 1-A now either knows, or can extrapolate, that he used to be quirkless.
and from there, I feel like itās not all that hard to put two and two together with how terrible Kacchan and Dekuās relationship was when they first started at UA. thatās not a terribly difficult puzzle to solve. so I feel like it might come out anyway, and if so, Iād prefer Bakugou telling them himself, and taking responsibility as part of his atonement process. because we know that he regrets it. we know their relationship has changed. we know that he has changed. and so I think I might like to see this.
alternately, if confessing to the entire class is too much, at the very least I could see him confessing to Shouto, because Iāve always felt like this was one of the big things that made Katsuki so resistant to letting Todoroki call him a friend. because I feel like thereās a part of Katsuki that saw the parallels between Endeavorās abuse of Shouto and his own bullying of Deku, and thought, he wouldnāt be so quick to call me his friend if he actually knew the truth. and so thereās actually been this roadblock wedged between them this whole time that Shouto doesnāt even know about. because Shouto hates Endeavor. and so itās not such a leap to assume heād hate Katsuki too if he knew just how terrible heād been to Deku when they were younger.
not that I think he actually would! actually I donāt think either of those things is actually true (because Shouto clearly doesnāt hate his father either, in spite of everything thatās happened). but the point isnāt what I think -- the point is what Katsuki thinks. and I really do think thereās a good chance heās worried about Shouto hating him, and itās one of the things thatās made him so reluctant to accept his friendship. anyway, so Iām really just rambling now, but you get my point. I donāt know if this is actually going to happen, but itās a scene I would like to see if Horikoshi decides to indulge me.
3.Ā ā...so when you wake up, please give him my best.ā
and now, as promised, back to Deku.
ngl guys, when I first saw this image, my immediate thought was that Gran must have died. because I mean, hello, leaving U.A.?? donning himself in his teacherās old cape?? empty, exhausted look in his eyes?? what else were we supposed to think lol.
but maybe that was an overreaction. because when I think about it more, Granās death isnāt strictly necessary in order to push Deku over the edge. first of all, thereās already the wholeĀ āhero society is in ruins now because of youā thing I mentioned earlier. but also, there are just so many other things. like, letās just list them here because omg. what a rough couple of days this kid had.
he was forced to battle TomurAFO and was terribly injured in the process (most of which was his own fault, but he wouldnāt have gone that far with OFA unless he felt like he had no choice)
and it wasnāt just him that was injured, either. in fact, even though he tried to act as bait to keep everyone else safe, he wasnāt able to stop three of the people closest to him from nearly being killed right before his eyes
and of course that last one was especially traumatic, because it was Kacchan, and because he had to watch Kacchan nearly die just to protect him. out of all the things that Deku witnessed in this arc, this might be the one that had the biggest impact on him
he was also basically helpless to do anything to protect Shouto and Endeavor when Dabi showed up. so again, we have this running theme of people he cares about being hurt and him not being able to save them
and he also got sucked into the OFA Interstellar Dream Vortex for a brief spell during the battle, during which he learned that AFO had possessed Tomura. more importantly, he learned that Tomura was Nanaās grandson, a fact which was only briefly touched on during that scene, but which I think wound up being the trigger to the whole avalanche that ended with Deku leaving UA. but more on that in a moment
anyway so just to wrap this all up, the battle eventually ended, Tomura got away despite all of their efforts, and then Deku wound up comatose in the hospital for two days. which brings us to the most recent chapters, during which
Deku learns that he will be the last wielder of OFA, whether he likes or not
Deku learns the identity of the last two mystery OFA users
and then at some point, he wakes up and presumably talks to Gran, and winds up with his cape
something happened during these last two scenes which helped to push Deku over the edge. I wonāt delve into the matter of the Second or Third users for now, although most of you already know my suspicions regarding that, and I do think that would fit into the general pattern here (that is, the pattern of Deku feeling more and more strongly that he is putting the people around him in danger, and his fear of losing them becoming so overwhelming that it eventually pushes him to leave).
but thatās not what I want to talk about for now. what I want to talk about is Gran. specifically, what it is that Deku discussed with Gran. and this is where we come back to that reveal I mentioned earlier -- that Tomura is Nanaās grandchild.
basically, what I think happened is that Deku mentioned seeing Nana in the OFA Zany Psychedelic Spirit Void, which led to the topic of Tomura, and the fun fact Deku recently learned about him being related to Nana. this, in turn leads to Gran divulging his various regrets about everything that happened with him and Nana and Kotarou. his intent is to apologize to Deku for placing the burden of their failures on him. unfortunately, the part that Deku actually gets fixated on instead is this:
All for One hunted down and killed Nanaās son (and probably her husband as well), and stole her grandchild and psychologically tortured him into becoming a mass murderer, for no other reason than that Nana had once held OFA
in other words, AFO can and will hurt and kill anyone Deku is close to, anyone who has any kind of connection to him at all, without mercy, and regardless of whether it actually gives him any kind of tactical advantage or not. heāll do it simply to hurt him. no other reason necessary.
I donāt know about you, but for me that would be a terrifying realization. and for Deku, I think it just might have been the tipping point.
so, letās recap.
Deku learns that AFO is after him
AFO/Tomura very nearly kills several of Dekuās most important people, including Kacchan
and then he learns that this is just the tip of the iceberg, and realizes that all of their lives are still in danger and will continue to be as long as Deku is AFOās target
and then add to all of this the misplaced guilt about society already being shambles, and the heroes already having more than enough to worry about. theyāre barely holding things together as it is. and we already know how Deku feels about being a burden to them:
and so instead, he leaves. of course he does. in hindsight, I think this was inevitable.
the question is, did anyone else also put the pieces together in time to realize what Deku was planning before he actually left? specifically, did Katsuki, who understands Dekuās self-sacrificial nature better than anyone else, see the signs and put two and two together? like he did back at Jakku?
and if he did, would Deku have been willing to accept his help again?
somehow, I canāt help but think it might not be that easy this time.
anyway, so that was a lot of rambling, lol. sorry about that. I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS about all of this angsty shit. tired nomad Deku needs hugs and comfort and someone to reassure him that he doesnāt have to face this alone, and that everything is going to be all right. HE IS JUST A LITTLE BOY. this is too much, and I cannot handle any of these feels, and oh my god, somebody please help him.

Deku, Bakugo and Kirishima
Okay I wanna preface this post by saying first, this isnāt a post about Bakudeku (youāre itching to call me out, I feel it, but donāt do it) and while I will be mentioning the Kiribaku ship, it will be me mostly mentioning the FANS of this ship and the ideals around that ship. If this doesnāt apply to you, please gloss over it. This post was caused by once again, seeing SOME Kiribakuās speak absolute garbage all over Tiktok. Wrong garbage mind you. Now let me start..
---------
When was it, that fans suddenly decided that for Kiribaku to be a ship, that suddenly people had to downplay Dekuās importance in Bakugoās life. Yes, Bakugo use to bully Deku and he was wrong for it, he was a little fucking shithead for it. But that was in chapter one of the manga and season 1 episode 1 of the show. Where are we now? About to hit chapter 305 (leaks today whoo) and weāre about hit season 5. Things of changed, Bakugo has changed, and if you can pick up what Horikoshi is putting down, then you KNOW things have changed in their relationship.
Now what these Tiktoker Kiribakuās like to claim is that Bakugo doesnāt care about Deku, doesnāt even LIKE Deku. That the only person Bakugo cares about is Kirishima... you can headcanon all you like that Kirishima is Bakugoās most important person. You can 100% believe that and use it for your fanon content. But that is all it is, headcanon and fanon, because it isnāt true. And BECAUSE it isnāt true and is fanon, Do not come at people who believe CANON FACT and tell them theyāre wrong and your headcanon is right.
Why does Bakugoās relationship with Deku have to be diminished for Kiribakuās ship to flourish? Why? When did that become a thing? because a LOT of people spread around this garbage like itās fact.
Now iām going to get into the major point these Tiktoker Kiribakuās made, and what I think is the worst take iāve ever heard. Ahem.
āKirishima cared about Bakugo the most which is why he went to Kamino to save him, and Bakugo cared about Kirishima the most which is why he took his handā
Iām going to get into how WRONG this statement is.Ā
The person who found out that Bakugo was going to be kidnapped was Deku. Deku found out during his fight with Muscular and after the fight was over, his first thought was to get Kota to safety so he could save Kacchan. He told the pussycat lady to alert everyone to Kacchanās possible kidnapping, which is where Kirishima heard about it.
As youād expect, Kirishima got upset and instantly wanted to go out and help protect Bakugo. Why? because he is his FRIEND. Canonly theyāre not together so we are going forward with their platonic relationship, which is canon. He wanted to save his friends, as did others in the group, but he wanted to save him most. But he couldnāt. (Something we later learned was a trigger for Kirishima in season 4)
Because Deku was out on the field, he was able to go and try to save Bakugo. That boy ran around, in absolute pain to the point that some of the class commented on the fact he should be unconcious right now. But that didnāt matter because he wanted to save Bakugo. And he tried his hardest, despite being in pain and his arms not working, Bakugo gets taken, telling DekuĀ āNot to comeā. I like to believe he said that because Deku was injured and WOULD be killed following him, because Bakugo knows Deku would follow him into fire. Like Deku knows Bakugo best, Bakugo also knows Deku best (minus the whole looking down on him stuff, wtf Bakugo.) But because that was never established, weāll leave that up to interpretation.
Something these Tiktokers used in their arguement was that Kirishima was the one who decided to save Bakugo, nobody else. Which.. just isnāt true at all. Another thing they said was DEKU DIDNāT PLAN TO SAVE HIM. Again, not true.
Lets go back to before Deku was in hospital and Bakugo was kidnapped. When Bakugo was gone, Deku SCREAMED in absolute DISPAIR (these tiktokers also commented that Deku hates Bakugo and all I can do is LOL, wonāt even entertain that.) Deku was in such ABSOLUTE DISPAIR that he instantly went into shock. Shock, that he said, lasted for the 2 whole days in hospital, he couldnāt remember a thing. The only moment he remembers WHY he was in shock, was when the whole class were there and Todoroki told him about it.
Also at this point, while Deku is in shock, Kirishima and Todoroki had 2 whole days with a clear head to decide they were going to save Bakugo, consequences be damned.
What happened after remembering Kacchan was taken? Deku came out of his shock and burst into tears. He failed to save Kacchan and it HURT him. And then Kirishima mentions the rescue.. the rescue that he AND TODOROKI PLANNED. Do people not remember that while Kirishima had decided he was going to save Bakugo, that Todoroki ALSO had the same plan?? That if Kirishima hadnāt intended to save him, Todoroki would have mentioned the plan to Deku himself???
I 100% believe, as should ANYONE who knows Deku as a character and as someone whoās always cared about Bakugo despite him being an asshat, would have also come up with a plan to save Bakugo if he hadnāt been in hospital with damaged arms and in complete shock and disassociation.
I now want to point out a panel that people seem to forget:

For people to believe Deku doesnāt care as much as Kirishima does about Bakugo, how is it your boy is saying the complete OPPOSITE statement???
Now skip forward to finding Bakugo and AFO. While Kirishima (and Todoroki) had decided they were going to rescue Bakugo, it was Deku who came up with the plan to get Bakugo out of there. Deku planned the best possible way to get Bakugo out of there and not damage his pride in the meantime. Deku could have been selfish and have reached out for Bakugo, because we all know Deku wanted to have been the one to reach out his hand. But he didnāt because Deku knows Bakugo best and didnāt want to possibly upset him.
Bakugo, who feels incredibly insecure when it comes to Deku, how do you think heād have reacted if Deku saved him A SECOND TIME? First the sludge villian and now Kamino? Iād wager that Deku would expect any chance of reconsilliation between himself and Bakugo to have died that moment if heād reached out to save him.
Lets be honest, Bakugo would have taken ANYONES hand to get out of there and iāll explain why that is true in a moment.
Another thing people seem to forget is that Bakugo didnāt tell Kirishima he was the one who should hold his hand out. Bakugo didnāt tell Kirishima that he would only take his hand. No, DEKU said this. Deku who knows Bakugo better than ANYONE. He knew, because currently his and Bakugoās relationship was rocky, that he couldnāt risk Bakugoās pride getting in the way of the rescue. So DEKU chose Kirishima to reach out his hand, because Kirishima isnāt someone Bakugo feels threatened by. Deku is Bakugoās biggest insecurity, him reaching out was a risk Deku wasnāt going to place over saving Bakugo.Ā
Again, Bakugo didnāt mention ANY of this, he didnāt even know. So how anyone came to the conclusion that canonly, this meant that Bakugo believed Kirishima to be more important than anyone else I will never know.
And when they did save him, Horikoshi put in a VERY BIG CLUE that a lot of people gloss over.

That teeth grit there was put INTENTIONALLY to show that even with Kirishimaās hand out.. he still didnāt want to take it, he didnāt want to have been saved. This is why I believe that he would have taken ANYONEāS hand. For anime fans, this teeth grit was cut out to instead focus on how close Shigaraki got to grabbing Bakugo.Ā
Bakugo isnāt stupid, he knew he couldnāt stay. For one, he already mentioned that he was in All Mights way by being there. So he HAD NO CHOICE but to take Kirishimaās hand. And when he was saved, he addressed EVERYONE for saving him, not just Kirishima.
Now, for non manga readers, you will have to wait until season 5 to see Bakugo and Dekuās relationship flourish and I donāt want to spoil you. Iām so excited for people to see what their relationship is going to turn into and why itās one of the most popular canon relationships in the show (and how itās grown to be one of the biggest ships)
I will give you this though, to indicate just how much Deku means to Bakugo now without spoiling it for anyone. Anyone whos read the manga should know how Bakugo feels about Deku.
For anyone who feels that Bakugo taking Kirishimaās hand indicated how important they were to each other, iād like to hope you have the same energy for that cover for Vol.29 of the manga drawn by Horikoshi himself. If Bakugo went back, he would have taken Dekuās hand all along. At the river, in Kamino, during the fight. Bakugo wants to hold Dekuās hand now, he wants Dekuās friendship, he wants Deku, and that is platonically canon.
The last thing I want to say is that Kiribaku as a ship can still exist without ignoring how much Bakugo and Deku mean to each other. Kirishima and Bakugo are friends, maybe even best friends canonly (though honestly iād argue that Kaminari is closer to Bakugo but thatās my personal opinion.)
Dekuās best friends are Iida and Uraraka, but Bakugo is still the person he loves and cares about the most.
Bakugoās best friends are Kirishima and Kaminari, but Deku is still the person he loves and cares about the most.
Do you see people push Bakugo down to make IzuOcha work? no.
Wanna headcanon that Kirishima is Bakugoās most important person? Go right ahead. But donāt push it on others as fact when itās not.
If you have to come to other peoples spaces and force your headcanon on them and disminish the utterly beautiful relationship thats blossoming between Bakugo and Deku, then maybe you shouldnāt be in the fandom. Horikoshi wants you to know how important these boys are to each other and if you canāt see that, donāt comment publically because you sound dumb.
Ship Kiribaku, but do not attack others for things that you have WRONG.
Tldr; Stop erasing Bakugo and Dekuās canon relationship to big up your Kiribaku ship and donāt force that on other people.

BNHA chapter 290 reactions
Oh boy, just when I was saying that such a long arc was eroding my ability to hype myself...
Oh boy... I guess we finally got the answer toĀ āWas that message for Rei or for the whole country?ā and the answer is both. Dabi sent a direct message to his mom and we donāt know what he told her.
And since we have a big close-up on the flower āEnjiā gave Rei without leaving a message, I am now wondering if it wasnāt a gift from Dabi.
Ah, the Todoroki pose ofĀ āI have no idea of what to feel.ā
Also, I think we now have the confirmation that Dabi is a theater kid.
Okay, so first, itās nice to have the confirmation that Izuku did make some damages.
Whatās less nice is knowing that AFO can control Tomura to this extent. By accepting to become a guinea pig, he became AFOās puppet and I am not sure of how long it will take before AFO erodes his will and takes full control of him.
Horikoshi, think of the fanfic writers. When you show cool attacks, explain stuff about them, please. Because of you, I will have to spend an hour trying to analyze three panels.
Oh, thatās a meme waiting to happen.
Endeavor when Nejire and Shouto fight Shigaraki: āRUN! HEāS GOING TO KILL YOU! RUN!ā
Endeavor when Midoriya was fighting Shigaraki: āWelp, this might as well happen.ā
I donāt know whatās the more terrifying, Gigantomachia channeling the Rogue Titan or AFO having fun with Forced Quirk Activation. Okay, probably the later.
There should really be a limit to how long those tentacles can get, thank you very much.
Bakugou is awake and if I was him, I would go straight back to sleep but no, not him.
Does... Does he still have a quirk, though? I would like to see some sparks flying. Just to be sure.
However, he is right in the sense that they need to kill Shigaraki now. If he manages to escape, they will have lost everything. That would mean that another cataclysm can happen at any time and society will collapse. I am not talking about the hero society. I am talking full Dawn of Quirks mess.
I do not want to witness what so many people with uncontrollable powers can do when they are scared.
I am going to believe that Machia assumes that the second āMasterās scentā also comes from Shigaraki because with all the smoke in the air, he didnāt notice Izuku and his multiple quirks who are right there.
Also, Izuku wasnāt using cough... all for one... cough several quirks when Gigantomachia arrived, donāt think I didnāt notice it.
I was robbed from my Little Lord moment!
Shigaraki, every bones of his broken and the only reason why he remained standing so long is probably because AFO was manipulating his strings: āOh, do tell me about your problems. Itās not like I can go anywhere after I was INCINERATED THEN BEATEN HALF TO DEATH BY THE INCARNATION OF FERALNESS. But please, tell me how hard it was for you.ā
The small green child with broken bones isnāt named Shouto, Endeavor.
More seriously, you see Endeavorās hand on Midoriyaās back? He isnāt checking that he is alright, he is actually holding him back because he is scared he is going to yeet himself again at the villains and try to finish the job.
Thatās why you never make promises on live television. Too many witnesses that will call you out later.
Shouto is so fucking done at this point. He just survived a decaying wave, he showed up only to see all the heroes and his friends half dead, he almost got slapped by Gigantomachia, this is NOT the day to keep messing with him, and here is this asshole, all happy during the worst time of Shoutoās life.
As for Dabi... This man is hilarious. Look at how happy he is. His audience is here, too weakened to kick his ass, and now is the time.
Also, you see the bottle he is shaking? That was in the pouch he has been wearing since his first appearance. He was ready from Day 1.
Now, the riddle for the ages, the thing that interests me far more than what happens one panel later: what the hell is this and how did it bleach his hair so fast?
What am I hearing? Oh yes, the sound of ALL THE DABI IS A TODOROKI BEING VALIDATED RIGHT NOW. CONGRATULATIONS, FUNKY LITTLE CONSPIRACY THEORISTS. MAY KNOWING THAT YOU WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG MAKE YOU LIVE LONGER.
Whatever youāre thinking about Dabi, you have to admit that he knows how to use a narrative. He has been sitting on this for years, waiting for the right time to do the most damage, and here he is.
Letās all appreciate this rare moment where Shouto and Enji have the same face ofĀ āWhat the hell is going on?ā
But more importantly, letās all appreciate Midoriya who was once again dragged into the Todoroki drama.Ā
This has nothing to do with him, and yet, once again, a Todoroki appeared and felt the need to announce his entire tragic backstory in his vicinity. All those jokes about Todoroki never meeting Izuku because he would have coughed up his secret in the second were true.
Dabi looks so soft here and some part of me wants to believe thatās because he knew Rei would be watching.Ā
And by that, I mean Dabi is a Momma boy.
I am bravely trying to keep a straight face as this guy is about to explain us why he killed 30 innocent people instead of his dad or some members of the Hero Commission.Ā
I mean, Fuyumi managed not to snap despite many reasons, so really, there is no excuse.
More seriously, I hope that he wonāt only reveal what Endeavor did. I want to know why he was considered dead. And I want to know if my theory about Touya being in the same HSPC program as Hawks is true, because there has to be a reason why he knows his real name.
Of course, for the last one, I can accept that Young Touya found a drawing of Endeavor and a young kid with red wings sent by a little fan through the Endeavor agency.
But I would much prefer to see more about the HPSC and how horrible it is.
The real victim of this chapter: Canāt-You-See-kun.
Look at how happy he is. I am pretty sure this is the best day of his life.
@pocketramblrā is the one who realized that Horikoshi had to knock Dabi unconscious in Kamino because that man would have jumped on the occasion of screaming to the world who he really is, only to see society freak out.
There is 50% chance that AFO would have killed him for being more dramatic than him but, man, what a way to go.
*squints* Is that his hair becoming white due to the strain?
I am... actually not surprised by it. Dabi doesnāt know Shouto. And he isnāt Touya anymore.
The only thing Shouto is to him is Endeavorās weapon to become number 1 and the child that stole his place and who made all his pain meaningless.

Endeavor: āRedemption arc?ā
Dabi: āHahaha NO. Step 1 of my plan where you get everything you want right before I make you choke on it.ā
This is nothing short of breathtaking and once again, Horikoshi steals my breath away.
Make no mistake: Touya is dead. He died a long time ago. Only remains a rageful ghost hold together by hatred and staples. He will not hesitate to sacrifice anything to destroy Endeavor, be it himself, others, and even members of his family.
I have about zero regret for Endeavor but the rest of the Todoroki family? Dabi just took a sledgehammer to that and now, they will all have to live with the consequences.
Kudos to Dabi, though. He did what All for One didnāt manage to do. He wanted to ruin the number 1, to show that he was a liar and how pitiful he was. All for One failed to do so when he revealed All Mightās true form but Dabi executed that plan perfectly.
The other really good point about this is that no one will care about Izuku using multiple quirks. With how Dabi stole the show, Shigaraki will be lucky if people still talk about him.Ā

New BNHA, new liveblog, 0 miles today because the gyms are all closed. this is weird for me.
REALLY loving each and every one of the hand-wavy reasons Horikoshi gives forĀ āfuck it i just wanted Aizawa (or maybe Mirio?) to adopt a kidā
Aizawa:Ā āLook, the hospital kicked her out, her parents are MIA, her grandpaās in a coma, and itās not like Mirio is doing anything right now.ā Mirio:Ā āHaha yeah :DDā
āWe worked for like 15 episodes to steal her, you think weād just, what, give her BACK? Finders fucking keepers, Midoriya.ā
Sometimes a family is an out-of-commission 18 year old, a really tired teacher, a traumatized little girl, and the ugliest godDAMN sweater on the planet
Dats gay
I really like the Wild Wild Pussycats casual clothes???
Their whole aesthetic is Your Three Lesbian Aunts And One Gay Uncle Visiting For Thanksgiving
Kota has... Dekuās Shoes... thats real fucking cute
SPEAKING of cute: Ragdoll is an absolute gem and I wish there was more of her in the Training Camp arc sheās a real cutie
Iām glad weāre finally learning how rankings work, considering the very concept of the ranking system has been absolutely core to the series since Day 1. Like 90-something episodes in and Horikoshi is finally likeĀ āoh i should explain how that worksā

On kiribaku becoming canon and their evidence:
So I posted this on reddit earlier, but wanted to have it here where more KRBK shippers are, since I just ended up compiling a lot more than I thought I would.
Fair warning: A pretty big text with a compilation of kiribaku moments ahead.
We would all love kiribaku being canon, and I think it's not as much of a longshot as some may lead you to believe.
Honestly, if one of them was a girl, this would most certainly be canon, like, just in the anime we have:
Them becoming friends slowly in the background, leaving us with good development between them that is so seamless it can hit you hard once you notice how close they've become if you hadn't noticed before.
Them arriving and leaving the pool together while walking in the sunset.
They support and compliment each other (both on personality and quirks, like come on).
Kirishima can just lean on Bakugou or side hug him all the time and Bakugou lets him with no problem, which considering who we're talking about is a pretty big thing.
Kirishima can seem even more agitated than Deku about Bakugou being taken, and Deku is the one who idolized him since childhood.
The whole "It has to be you" thing and the precious hand holding (including that little scene after the rescue, where Kiri tries to grab Baku's hand again).
Kirishima bought expensive night vision googles in case they were useful for the rescue even though they had Yaomomo with them (this boy goes through extremes just to ensure his boyfriend's best friend's safety)
Kirishima is officially the one Bakugou considers an equal, and considering his conflicting inferiority and superiority complexes (making him perpetually place people as above him or beneath him) is vital information.
Kirishima is esentially Bakugou's first real friend (as Deku was considered more of an incomprehensible nuisance and his childhood troop seemed more like his followers who just put him up on a pedestal and followed what he did).
Kirishima has jumped in front of danger for Bakugou's sake quite a bit of times (including a time in the movie).
Kirishima is a central piece in Bakugou's character development.
Bakugou was the one who told Kirishima he was strong and gave him his confidence back, reminding him of what he said at the start of their friendship.
Kirishima unlocked fucking UNBREAKABLE because of Bakugou's encouragement.

Going to extra stuff:
Bakugou's favourite hobbie is hiking, and we're shown he takes Kirishima with him sometimes, thing he doesn't seem to do with other characters.

The whole festival thing, with the narrator outright assuming Bakugou must have given his coat to a pretty girl who was cold, only for it to be revealed in another picture that he gave it to Kirishima because as usual, he didn't have a shirt on.
On the movie Bakugou could have taken anyone to I-Island and took Kirishima as his plus one. They share a room. Kirishima bought suits for both of them, with the most detailed one with white roses being for Bakugou, and they decide to go to the party together.
In a BNHA Smash connected directly to the movie, Midoriya notices the white roses in Bakugou's suit and notes that they mean deep respect and "I'm the one for you", which prompts Bakugou to send an explosion his way (not to Kirishima who gave him the suit, mind you), which makes the flowers turn red (from blood), after which Mineta appears to say that red roses mean "beautiful and passionate love".
They are usually seen together in merch stuff.
There's this tumblr post talking about japanese fan's reactions to one of Horikoshi's drawings which I find at least hilarious:
https://exbrodokills.tumblr.com/post/187710597637/here-it-is
There are discussions regarding Kirishima's character sheet and the translation of him liking "tough guys" (here's a podt by aitaikimochi explaining the meaning of the translation: https://www.google.com/amp/s/aitaikimochi.tumblr.com/post/171127708911/amp) where even translator such as aitaikimochi have gotten into, and they have mentioned that there's a japanese stereotype of a type of gay guy who is obsessed with "manly behaviour" and usually stay away from women, prefering tough guys instead, which is interesting to say the least.

Some of the light novel episodes which show more slice of life moment feature some good kiribaku moments, with a prominent one being this one wich details their study date (it seriously seems like fan fiction, not even kidding, and this is supposed to be sort of canon):
https://www.google.com/amp/s/aitaikimochi.tumblr.com/post/171236111166/amp
Also there's a chapter where Kirishima tells Fatgum about Bakugou being extremely happy, and another one where they are arm wrestling between classes and they cheer for one another heavily.
(Honesly, just go through aitaikimochi's whole kiribaku tag, there are some pretty interesting things there)
Here are some analysis on their possible coding, if you guys are interested:
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1dxO6Y0yK_wxOJDmRsBYvsVWKwsH7tKc92skxJ--R1m4/edit?usp=drivesdk
(Bakugou's one link can be found at the end of that one)
And in BNHA Smash, there are quite a lot of things, and we must not forget that the whole thing still gets approved by Horikoshi before being published, some of my favourite things are:
Kirishima inviting Bakugou to spend christmas together, with the translators noting christmas in Japan to be a romantic holiday in the same panel.
In one issue, Jirou falls for Kiri and him being oblivious just leaves her for Bakugou.
Once Bakugou becomes a shoujo boy after being his with a quirk and just involuntarily talks in flirt, and in one moment Kirishima outright flirts back.

Bakugou works his ass off to repay Kirishima for the night vision googles they used in the rescue.
Kirishima is literally described as the chicken soup for Bakugou's soul!

An interesting thing I found out is that in the chapter where all of 1A minus Bakugou turn into animals, one scene originally had Kirishima (as a dog) getting jealous of Kaminari and Midoriya petting Tsuyu (as a cat - yes I know, a cat) and giving all their attention to her, however, Horikoshi himself changed that scene, noting he didn't think their character relations worked well in that scene, and made it so that the one that ended up in smash contains Kirishima (as a dog) getting jealous because Todoroki (as a koala) has climbed up Bakugou's torso and won't let go. I saw this all in a tumblr post a few months ago, which showed the original scene in a book (I think it was in italian and was translates below) but I can't currently find the link, sorry, if someone finds it, It'd be appreciated if you could reblog with said link.
And in regards to meta stuff, the show already has some LGBT characters in it, with Magne and Tiger being trans and Toga being bisexual, so it's not as much of a lost cause to hope for this as it would initially seem.
(Please kirimina shippers, don't take offence because of this, it isn't my intention to insult your ship, I simply want to analize what has been given to us, so please try to take this lightly):
We should also take into consideration Krishima's first version in the sort of "beta" for the manga (where Midoriya was Yamikumo).

His character sheet mentions he's quite the delinquent and entered UA to impress a girl. Obviously his character evolved tremendously since then, but the girl was most probably intended to be Mina's equivalent. This was later changed to him liking "tough guys"/"hard liners" and his thing with Mina became more of an "I admired your bravery and heroic spirit when in middle school even if I hardly knew you", later seeing each other and establishing more of a little friendship. However, it hasn't really moved further from there, and Kirishima has already established much stronger bonds with our favourite exploding boy. All changes in characters are made for a reason, and Horikoshi clearly changed his mind on Kirishima's motives for wanting to be a hero and his relationship with Mina.
So yeah, all in all, this ship is great, it's precious, adorable, helps both characters grow, is balanced and has good chemistry. So even if after all these things they don't become officially canon, we still have so much canon material for them in the present I'd honestly still be happy, these dorks make me smile and melt my heart, so I hope they both have good endings.

Responding for the minor drama (TW: drama)
I only have experience with female and non straight fic writers and obviously what I say wonāt apply to everyone/every situation. ANYWAYS, I think thereās a big difference between women writing fan fiction (sexual or not) and men (for the most part). So when I say men I mean a specific group that Iām sure everyone knows of.
When I see (typically straight) men make fan art or fics about characters that appear as minors they rarely ever stress that the character is aged up, unless they have a large audience, but even then, everyone knows that isnāt really āimpliedā. The specific type of men Iām thinking of get their rocks off on the thought of having a sweet āchild likeā or āinnocentā waifu and being able to do as they please with them.
I hardly ever see men writing or making art of non sexual content with these characters, or at least the ratio is terrible. Many female creators (and basically everyone outside of that specific male group) have a great balance of platonic, romantic, and sexual content.
If you were to compare explicit artwork, youād notice a big difference. Young female characters are often drawn bare and with child-like features. (Large round eyes/face, rounded limbs/hands) When younger male characters are drawn, they are clearly being portrayed as an adult. Theyāll have body hair, defined facial features and muscles, ect.
Idk if all this makes sense, but what Iām trying to say is that very generally speaking, men are typically more predatory than women when it comes to content making. Men tend to get off on and attach to the pervyness of being with said character, women like the character as a whole and attach to them as a person.
Okay thatās my best attempt at writing what Iām thinkin, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
Fucking FACTS. Youāre completely correct. Iāve said it before and Iāll say it until Iām blue in the face. I have yet to see a man go wow, this female character is strong, smart, and independent and I REALLY like her for x personality trait or plot point. I had a guy try to rp with me and wanted me to rp Uraracka. When I asked why, he responded with ābecause sheās sexy, and fit, and loves Dekuā. Like wtf even is that.
Anyway, if the people whining really had an issue theyād be going after mangakas and animation studios. There are 90 billion fan arts of the gals from sailor moon half naked. HELL Usagi is dating a college freshman, as a high school student and that shit is CANON and no one complains. Letās not even go into dojinshi artists, nor the concept of Yaoi where majority of the men look like 14 year old boys.
Specifically for MHA, whenever someone goes ābut sexualization!!!ā I immediately point to Momo. Like yeah, itās her quirk or whatever, but Horikoshi literally wrote in a reason to keep Mirioās clothes from coming off when he uses his quirk, but couldnāt do the same for Momo, who is 15? Cmon now lmao.
TLDR: If these people wanted lasting change and really felt that upset about āsEXuALiZiNG mINoRSā theyād be looking to change the industry, not harassing fic writers and smaller artists. Take your complaints up to the manga writers. Try and lobby for some sort of change to what is considered CP and what is not. Itās a pointless waste of time because at the end of the day, none of us are going to stop writing/drawing smut because of a few people who are annoyed about what we choose to do with a fictional character. š¤·š½āāļø

Since you read Naruto recently can you give me your honest opinion of it? Like, is it worth it?
I've never read it or watched the anime, but I know some fans don't like certain things about the series, big things. Like, the main girl, the ending, and something involving the other guy (Sasuke?). (Also, the new series and the canon ships)
Also, I'm following this manga, and a lot of people say: "Omg, this is way better than Naruto!" But I honestly don't see anything special about it, and I'm kinda afraid that if "that's better" then just what happens in Naruto?
So, anyway, I really want to read the series (it's a classic after all), but I'm a little hesitant about it. Also, you read it as an adult (I'm assuming, idk your real age) so I want the opinion of an adult.
P.S - I'm asking you this cuz I read Harry Potter as an adult, which means that I noticed many flaws, and when I pointed them out to people who grew up with the series, oh boy, let's just say that I lost some friends.
Anyway, please and thank you (in advance). Have a nice day!
So here's a few posts where I talk about *some* of my thoughts on Naruto.
But I'll expand a bit more too.
If you truly enjoy BNHA, you will enjoy Naruto. My blog is mostly BNHA content so I'm assuming you follow that series if you're in my inbox lol. So if you like BNHA then yes it's absolutely worth reading. It's really cool to see the little inspirations from Naruto Horikoshi picked to use in BNHA, and it's just overall a fun story.
Now every story is going to have something worth critiquing or complaining about. But you might want to ask people why they don't like certain things about it, or rather WHAT exactly don't they like.
For example, if someone tells me they didn't like Naruto because every villain was redeemed, well, I automatically don't take their opinion seriously after that. Same for people who complain about BNHA because the main character cries a lot. I honestly don't care about your opinion if that's the kind of thing you just can't stand about a story. Thatās just me tho ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
So like...why don't they like Naruto. It's okay that they don't, but ask them why. Because a lot of people read manga and truly expect typical--superhero kills the villain and everyone worships him in the end--type of story. Power fantasy. Which manga usually aren't like that. I mean power fantasies yes, but accompanied by other things they donāt like. There's a lot of villains switching sides, people being shown compassion and empathy and in general expressing a lot of emotions (Naruto and Deku crying a lot), and some people don't vibe with that and that's fine. But maybe they should pick a different genre to read ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
As for Sasuke, man I really don't know what everyone's beef is with him. I'll say that his "redemption" was a little rocky at the end, but his overall arc and story was great. He's my favorite from the manga. Again, that brings me back to why don't they like Sasuke? Is it because he defected and went "bad"? Because, well, that's how plots work. Shit happens. I say that because I've heard my irl friends say they hated Sasuke too and it's like.....it's a story....he's gonna do bad things. People just act like they're personally getting attacked when a character doesn't do what they want. I don't get it. Anyway, I'm always really skeptical of peoples' opinions on stories, especially if they have wack opinions on other series. That kinda tells me all I need to know on whether I should trust their opinions or not....lol.
The way Naruto handled its romance is not unique to this series, and itās certain not unique how Naruto handled its female characters. Thatās pretty much any fucking shounen manga where the female leads just kinda suck in general. So thatās not really a reason to me personally to write off the story completely. But some people may find it to be. Itās all personal preference really.
But TLDR:
Yes itās worth reading. Itās a great story. The friendship focus is very present in it and, to me, it has a heart warming ending. It has a happy ending which makes it worth it on its own.
But yes, I will recommend reading it.

MIDNIGHT DESERVED BETTER
SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 296 I GUESS
can i just say that midnightās death was simply stupid.
to summarise her actions in the recent arc:
sheās assigned to the group attacking the mansion. knocks out big number of the the PLF members. pairs up with kamui woods and tries getting closer to make machia fall asleep. dabi attacks them, kamui gets burned and throws her. she gets hit by the rubble that mr. compress throws. she falls down. calls yaomomo to give her a plan. sheās hurt from the fall. encounters plf members. presumably, cause it happens off screen, fights and gets killed by them. she dies alone. later her body is found by the students. her face is not shown, only her mangled mask and students holding her hand.
letās compare her death to another characterās who died in the presence, who was quite important to the main character/s, their ally, mentor, and significant to us, readers. i mean nighteye.
nighteye, all mightās former sidekick. becomes a mentor figure to deku. fought with overhaul, the main boss of the arc. gets mortally wounded, itās shown clearly on the pages. we also get a hospital scene where he says his farewells. the funeral gets a mention in later chapters.
nighteyeās lifespan amounts to... 38 chapters (124-161). midnightās āofficial debutā was in chapter 24.
what midnight gets? she doesnāt fight the main boss. gets offed off-screen by minor villains. her farewell is three panels, no dialogue.
can i just say. WHAT THE FUCK.
iām not hating nighteye, no siree, liked the guy, was sad to see him go. but midnight? i adored her so much. especially started appreciating her more cause of āvigilantesā. but. i canāt get over how unfair this seems.
also, iām not saying that everyone should go out in a blaze of glory. life is ugly, after all. but weāre talking about a fictional work and about what a character that is of importance in the story deserves.
what could be the cause of this treatment?
my theory is that it could be:
a) midnightās gender, so her being a woman;
b) horikoshi trying to wrap the arc quickly and move on to the āfinalā fight and then prison break (which cuts out farewell time, i guess we can expect to see a funeral scene later, if lucky).
for example, point a can relate to the fact that her face was not shown during the laughably short farewell scene. horikoshi doesnāt shy away from gore, yet midnightās beaten up face was too much, i guess?
i just. i can understand this treatment for majestic. dude was mentioned but made an official debut not that long ago. but weāre talking about midnight. the beloved midnight. the only female teacher/staff member of u.a. besides recovery girl that weāve met. oh wait, forgot about thirteen. so hooray, 3 women to 11 men ratio. now 2.
what the absolute fuck, i repeat for plus ultra-th time.
midnight was pretty much the only adult woman hero that was the closest to the main cast. letās not get more into how sexualised the female heroes are (itās even mentioned in canon, so horikoshi knows what heās doing and YET doesnāt acknowledge that in his designs or how female heroes are represented), just so many wrong things are going on. and iām not saying i hate their designs (big mirko fan) but i get pissed off at the unfair treatment. why do most of the female heroes have to wear spandex? but thatās not the issue that weāre talking about now.
i donāt know. maybe iām overreacting. probably am. but i honestly canāt comprehend how horikoshi couldāve treated midnight like this. itās not the first time that a female character in mha gets the short end of the stick, but i canāt help but hope. oh well.
tl;dr midnight deserved better than being offed off screen and getting a few panels with no dialogue as a farewell.
please feel free to express your own opinions on this.

Long OFA Quirk Theory Post, BNHA ch 257 Spoilers
Also I apologize now for anyone on mobile where the read more isnāt working properly and you have to scroll through this whole thing. It got way longer than I intended. I wonāt be upset if you block me so you donāt have to see this post anymore lol
Alright so I was really hoping All Might would at least briefly say the quirks of the previous OFA holders he found (or have a quick panel showing them in the notebook or SOMETHING), but sadly weāre gonna have to wait a bit longer I guess...
However, he and Bakugou said the same thing: all of their quirks are relatively weak, since AFO was basically controlling the quirk world and taking all the strong quirks for himself or his āarmyā
It makes me curious though about how weak the quirks really are. Since idk about yall, but Black Whip seems to be an incredibly strong and versatile quirk (even taking into account that it was weaker back then compared to Midoriya using it now).
We also know that quirks in general get stronger the more generations go by (not just in OFA, we see this in the children the remedial course āfightsā), so it makes sense that none of the quirks in OFA are particularly great compared to current times, given that quirks were still developing (tho... like I said before, I really doubt thatās the case. They may be physically weak quirks in combat, but Iām sure Midoriya will find a way to make them all incredibly op).
Another reason why Iām kinda doubting the legitimacy of the whole ātheyāre all weak quirksā thing is because of what AFO says about Nana. He calls her weak, a useless successor, etc. Now, I suppose having a quirk that lets you fly might seem like a weak quirk. Itās no muscle enhancer, explosions, lazer beams, etc. Though Nana herself was clearly ripped as all hell (like bro Iām so gay wtf)
Ahem, anyways, maybe he was just saying that to taunt All Might, to break his spirit or whatever. Typically evil villain stuff. But also... AFO doesnāt seem to be the type of guy to do that. To just call someone weak even if they werenāt. (altho he also uses a flying quirk, so make of that what you will) BUT ANYWAYS this just leads me to think her quirk was probably the āweakestā out of all the successors he had faced so far. I would probably think the same if the successor 2 people before her had something as interesting as Black Whips.
So what kind of quirks are they? Unfortunately my theories are only based off of their appearances, and AFO. Iāll mention the bit about AFO first, since it feels more solid than the bit about their appearances.
Itās a theory Iām kinda believing less and less with the information weāre being given, but I wonder if AFO could have taken their quirks before they died. Sort of like a way to taunt future holders. Like āhaha look Iām using your masterās beloved quirk how does that make you feel.ā And I mean, yeah, he canāt take OFA, that much has been established (altho that seems like itās gonna change soon... hmmm shiggy what you up to?). But what about after theyāve passed OFA on to the next person? They still should have their original quirk, since OFA seems to work kinda like a copy-paste system. So would AFO be able to take it then?
Iāll use Nana as an example. In the short 2ish minute special, All Might Rising, we see Nanaās last fight against AFO. At this point, we know she must have passed the quirk on, because the last thing we really see is her pointing at All Might as Gran Torino carries him away. We donāt actually see her death. There could have been time for AFO to take her quirk. And we know he has some sort of flying quirk, Air Walk, which could have been hers (although we wonāt know until the official translation comes out. However the current fan translations are calling Nanaās quirk stuff like Levitate or Hover)
Unfortunately thatās about where that bit of my theory comes to an end. With ch 257 saying the quirks are weak, I doubt AFO would have been using them in his fight with All Might. Gran Torino also mentions his quirks and fighting style were totally different from the last time 6 years ago, so that also kinda tears this theory apart. At least the bit where the quirks we got to see were any of the successorsā. He still could have taken them and passed them on to the nomu while he waited for Shigaraki to be able to use them himself.
As for the appearances and quirks themselves... well, we really only have 2 that we can take a guess at. I know people have the time travel theory that Bakugou was the 2nd wielder, but I donāt like that one very much. But thatās a post for another time.
Also, from here itās really just my opinions, and not a lot of solid or even jello-y theories. Like sand. Itās just a mess. Just a jumble of observations and Ā ĀÆ\_(:/)_/ĀÆ materialized.
So hereās the closest thing to a full body shot we have of them, the 4th on the left and 6th on the right.
The first one Iām gonna talk about is the 4th holder.
The first thing I noticed are the two marks on his face. They donāt seem like scars or some other kind of injury. Theyāre not drawn lightly the way Midoriyaās or Todorokiās scars are, theyāre really dark and crisp. So Iām thinking either some kind of tattoo, or (more likely) something to do with their quirk. Sort of going with my AFO theory above, it reminded me a lot of the forced quirk activation quirk he was using, though looking further into his appearance, I donāt think thatās right.
He has very contradicting vibes in my opinion. His clothes make me think something to do with water or wind, or some sort of spiraling energy like Nejireās. But based on his face, body, and stance, I would lean more towards a physical quirk. He seems like a solid dude. Originally, I had believed he had a wind type quirk (thinking about Inasaās appearance, he felt similar somehow), but now that Nanaās quirk is confirmed to be some kind of flying ability, it feels like having a wind quirk (that could also theoretically make you fly) would erase the point of Nanaās, and I doubt Horikoshi would want Midoriya to have quirks similar to each other, thus limiting how badass he could be (and lets be honest, this is a shonen jump manga. protags gotta be as op as possible, especially in a series like this which just SCREAMS the very essence of shonen manga. not that Iām complaining btw, I love op characters)
So anyways, Iām currently at a loss for this guy, the only other hint I feel like we have for his quirk is the color associated with him in OFA, blue, which doesnāt help much, seeing how the 5th with Black Whip is red and Nanaās with flying is yellow(? canāt really remember)... None of it seems related
Which leaves us with the second wielder we know little about, the 6th user.
And letās be honest, there isnāt much to work with here either. Since I just mentioned associated colors, Iāll just point out right away his color is a purplish-blue. So do with that what you will. (Iām going to get into it in a moment, but I theorize a mental/kinetic-type quirk for this guy. Purple is maybe associated a bit more with kinetic-type abilities? idk look at Shinsou)
Appearance-wise, I definitely get a more mental based quirk. Heās kinda small, seems reserved, so thatās just my gut feeling. You can see some bandages around his arms, though, which might mean... something? Perhaps it has to do with his quirk, maybe he just got injured (maybe he got injured because of his quirk..? hmmm)
Honestly, his appearance just reminds me of Kageyama from Haikyuu!!, so my brain keeps unhelpfully jumping back to that, making it hard to come up with good stuff for him. If I had to guess at random, I wanna say pyrokinesis. This is partially because of a long-winded, very very VERY unlikely theory that he could be related to Nana who could VERY UNLIKELY be related to Inko, so ya know, probably some big family tree of kinetic-type abilities (since, assuming AFO isnāt his dad, which is a theory Iām a big fan of, it would be possibly pretty emotional for Midoriya, seeing how it COULD have been his quirk if he were born with one, since itās a good mix of his mom and dadās quirks) The other reason is just cause I thought itād be cool. lol.
Though to be fair, part of that āit would be coolā has to do with the idea of āhow op can Midoriya get?ā which involves having a large range of abilities to be able to be effective in any situation. so far he has super strength as the base of OFA (which is always good in a fist fight), restraining with Black Whip, and eventually mobility with Hover. It would make sense for him to also have more rescue-type abilities, seeing how so far most of his skills are geared towards fighting rather than saving, which is the opposite of Midoriyaās personality. So I thought of natural disasters: earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, floods, mudslides, and volcanoes are listed as common disasters in Japan, and fires are more-or-less common anywhere. So having an ability that would be beneficial in those situations would be ideal, such as pyrokinesis to stop a fire, or something like hydro/aquakinesis to rescue those in a flood/tsunami.
Sooooo tldr I have no idea what the fuck their quirks could be but I love to theorize random shit so please come talk to me because Iām bored and dying for more content so Iām doing all I can to keep sane while I continuously wait for more updates :)))))
also Iām sure my thoughts were all over the place and made no sense, Iām sorry, I really tried to rewrite stuff over and over to make sense, but I might have made it worse, so if you donāt understand something or think I missed something, please let me know. I probably either worded it strange, or thought of it and didnāt remember to include it. BUT IF YOU THINK OF SOMETHING I ACTUALLY DIDNāT I WOULD REALLY LOVE TO HEAR IT PLEASE!!! SO DONāT BE AFRAID TO CALL ME OUT ON SOMETHING! not if itās about the time travel theory though, Iāve had enough of that right now lol
small edit: I went back to watch the movie again (in 4d this time) and realized I had messed up the colors of the AFO holders. Also, they appeared slightly different in each shot (in one, the 5th holder was pinkish purple, but another shot was a deep red?), so Iām basically ruling out that colors have any meaning at all. Not like I think they had much basis to begin with though...

Hi, Letās Talk About Some ControversialĀ Shit Yeah?
So lately people have been telling Horikoshi Kohei to go kill himself, because theyāre trying to be a shitty version of Shane Dawson exploring conspiracy theories that have no right to exist. I donāt even know where to fucking start, but since Iām not a YouTuber, but Iām a writer, I decided to ditch my phone for this one, and am currently typing this shit out on my laptop. Yes, that is how pissed I am.
A new decade and a new start to the shittiness that was 2010-2020. More and more people of the LGBTQ started coming out of the dark and trying to accept who they are to the chagrin of assholes who have no business in their lives anyway. I feel like thereās been a lot more racism here than there was from 2000-2010, or maybe thatās just me. I think itās because people are getting more vocal with their opinionsĀ as the earth goes to shit. We are slowly killing it after all. Not only is there more racism, sexism, anti-LGBTQ pricks, and people prejudice against other religions (the prejudice against Muslims is a big one. Poor Muslims, itāll be okay, Brookieās on your side), but there are now people who donāt like freedom of speech, or the right to write a story, and people who are just plain pussies because they donāt wike dere wittle feewings huwt š„.Ā
I could write for hours about all of those subjects. But since Iām an aspiring writer myself, I picked the right to write. What do I mean by that? I mean the right for an author of any kind to write their story, their way, without these little pussies coming around and being like,Ā ābro can you not mention the Mongols breaking through the Great Wall of China? Yeah, because Iām from a Chinese family and I donāt want to be reminded of my ancestorās tribulations even though it was 800 years ago. Thanksā. Let me break this shit down like Iām in debate class and my entire University grade depends on me winning thisĀ āargumentā.
Writing is an art. Duh. People donāt write because they had a good life, I donāt care what anyone says. Writers write because it relieves stress, allows them to get their feelings out in a healthy way, take them away to their own little world in their own special way to escape the hell theyāre living through, lets them vent the dark desires and thoughts they may have, and get their opinions out there when they feel like no one listens. Writing is a cure for depression for some people. Itās a healthy kind of drug that doesnāt make someone overdose (unless theyāre like me and writeās for hours on end losing sleep and starving themselves just to write an idea down before they forget it).Ā
People write about what they canāt speak. My mom has this sayingĀ āsay it forget it, write it regret itā, and in certain contexts that saying is a good moral to have, but thatās not always the case. My mom and I watched the movieĀ āHerā the other day and (spoilers) at the end of the movie, the main character Theodore, whoās a writer, writes a letter to his ex-wife. He writes about how they met, how they grew up together, how they grew to be the best of friends, then lovers, then built a trust they couldnāt replace, and the sorrow he felt when the relationship started crumbling. Joaquin Phoenix did an amazing job lamenting about the characterās past, most likely because heās been through a lot too, and the character did an astounding job putting his words to paper (or in this case email) and getting out years of stress and sadness so that he can start loving life again.
The point of me describing that scene was to show the impact writing has on some people. Itās the escape they need and sometimes the emotions they feel put into a context where they can explain it all they want without having to waste a breath.
Now, picture if you will, that youāre a writer down on your luck. You have an amazing story to tell and the audience in mind that you want to tell it to, but no one believes in you. They want to alter yourĀ story to suit a wider audience, but, you donāt give a shit about appealing to people, youāre telling a story that helped you and may help others too, no matter the money you might lose or recognition youāll never gain. Imagine that you found a way to both appeal to a wider audience andĀ tell that story you have in your mindās view. It gets more popular than most media to come out of your country and helps you bring in more than enough money you need to survive. Suddenly people are falling in love with the characters you wrote in more ways than one. People are starting to call it a modern classic and then, you start getting letters from people all around the world telling you how much your writings helped them and that theyāre living better lives because they were inspired or motivated by the words you oh so carefully put onto a page, with the art you spent hours, upon days, upon weeks on opening peopleās eyes to what theyāre capable of.
I may have put some personal shit in that last paragraph, but I was mainly talking about the subject of this... (essay?) Horikoshi Kohei. A man who never gave up because dammit, he had a story to tell and fuck anyone who doesnāt want to hear it. All that matters to real writers is that someoneĀ feels special because of the words you put together on a page. Horikoshi puts a lot of time and effort into My Hero Academia, and what does his fans do? They tell him to kill himself because he dared wordplay to get the names of some characters. Yāknow itās funny, I donāt hear a lot of Jews, trans, gay, or Polish people complain about the shit their ancestors went through 70 years ago during the Holocaust like they went through it as well, but I alwaysĀ hear about Korean, Chinese, and Black people (off the top of my head donāt @ me) complain about shit theirĀ ancestors went through from 70 all the way back to a thousand years ago. Not to say that everyone in those races do that. because they donāt. Iām sure a majority probably doesnāt give two flying fucks what someone writes as long as they arenāt being personally targeted or threatened. But go on Horikoshiās Twitter once and tell me that you donāt see hundreds of his followers (mostly Asian) threatening him and criticizing his naming of hisĀ characters. If youāre Korean or Chinese and you find issue with the fact that Horikoshi named a mother fucking villain characterĀ after a place where your specific race was tortured and experimented on, decadesĀ before were even fucking thought of, please tell me why. If you feel personally attacked then youāre... (I donāt wanna use retarded because people will automatically stop reading and DM me about my word choice) doltish. Thatās a fancy word for stupid by the way. Maybe if it were one of the heroes named that way then I would completely understand, but itās not. Itās a fucking villain.Ā
But hey, what do I know? Iāve never been through shit. Iām just a plain, short and chubby little white girl with a big mouth thatās never been the victim of prejudice or racism. No oneās ever taken a look at me and judged me based on myĀ ancestors or religious choices. No oneās ever made fun of myĀ accent or the color of my skin, or the birth defect that effected my feet and slightly effected my hands.Ā
Oh by the way, my momās a closet Psychopath that wasnāt diagnosed because the rest of the family is too fucking psycho for anyone to notice her torturing animals at a young age. My dad was a Paranoid Schizophrenic with an undiagnosed Psychosis and severe PTSD (diagnosed) that grew up in a home with an abusive father and a mother that was too busy grooming her oldest son (take that how you will) to pay any attention to him. Not to mention she also killed him. Itās not like my dadās dad was also a psychopath that purposefully killed my unborn brother and laughed when my mom miscarried Itās not like my life was at risk because there was people shooting at my house (where I lived with my grandfather) and I could hear the bullets bouncing off of the trees. Itās not like I was bullied when I was little leading to a brain injury that caused my memory to be fucked up and my speech to slur and stutter. Oh and I definitely didnāt have to start being a second mom to my brother, and an actual mom to my little cousin because my family doesnāt give a fuck how their actions effect others.
I didnāt have the worst life by all means. Thereās a lot more people that I know personally that have had it wayĀ worse than I have. Iām just saying, donāt take shit so fucking personally. Grow some goddamn balls and stop telling people to go kill themselves because they named a character something you didnāt like. Stop bringing up shit from the past unless people ask about it, or youāre telling you life story. Itās 2020. Itās time to stop being pussies and act like functioning members of society.Ā
Oh and one last thing. Yaāll are telling a man to kill himself while the corona virus is spreading like the plague. I think we should be more fucking worried about the fact that humanity could easily be wiped out thanks to the Chinese government silencing a scientist who know about the damn virus a year ago. If anything, we should be targeting them and Trump for being awful, not a poor mangaka that was just word playing with the names of his characters.Ā
#fuck this shit im out#horikoshi kohei#my hero academia#boku no hero academia#corona virus#shane dawson#japan#china#south korea#her#jaoquin phoenix#im taggin all this shit so people see this#go i hope it works#i spent an hour just typing this shit#rant over#*mic drop*

an index of Horikoshi Kouhei interviews

interview with Horikoshi Kouhei and Umakoshi Yoshihiko in BnHA: Ultra Archive, May 2016
(note: Umakoshi is the anime character designer for BnHA. also, this interview was part of the Ultra Archive character book, so youāll have to scroll a bit through its other contents in order to get to the interview.)
they talk about the process of creating the BnHA anime and sketching out all of the character designs. Horikoshi says the anime character model sheets look just like how he draws them

talks about Deku and Bakugouās characters and their attributes
mentions that at the start of the story Bakugou thinks Deku is above him, so he tries to act intimidating and superior to overtake him
(ETA: apparently this is a mistranslation; he actually says that he intended for Bakugou to be a character who wasĀ āaboveā Deku so to speak, who Deku would eventually surpass. he then goes on to talk about his realization that Bakugou could actually have a much more interesting character arc, which of course we have since seen play out.)
mentions that he planned to have Bakugou and Deku improve on two separate vectors as they entered U.A.

mentions that he always knew Bakugou wouldnāt turn evil andĀ āwould never lose to the darknessā

talks about the conclusion of the series, and that all of the characters will come together in the end
interview with all of the past editors of the BnHA manga, March 2021
(note: this is another interview thatās not translated word for word, but summarized. also this interview was with just the editors, not Horikoshi himself.)
they talk about the early reception to the manga, and Horikoshiās reactions
they talk about the individual moments early on when they realized that the series would beĀ āamazingā

thatās pretty much it, this one is very short lol
interview in Jump GIGA Spring 2021, April 2021
talks about which characters will play an important role in the final act. specifically mentions Hawks, Ochako, Shouji, Shinsou, Monoma, and Sero
āmany charactersā actions will converge into a single one, so maybe the best way to say it would beĀ ākeep an eye on all of them!āā
says that for Hawksās flashbacks and the Todoroki familyās past, he was influenced by Sion Sonoās works
mentions that the drawing of Deku and Ochako from the MHA Drawing Smash exhibit isnāt directly related to the main story, but that while drawing it he kept in mind how their relationship would develop if he explored it deeper
says he had the final act (or at least the chapter 306 reveal part of it) vaguely planned for a long time, but started to think about the specifics in volume 21 during the Endeavor vs High-End fight
says heās already decided on the ending, and thatĀ āthe path to it has been longer than I initially expected, but the main elements that Iāve decided before starting the series are still the sameā

says U.A.ās robots once rebelled against their creators (lol wtf)
says his three favorite movies are Akira, The Ring, and Spider-Man: Far From Home. he says Akira in particular is his bible
and thatās it for now, but I will update this post with future interviews as they are posted, and if anyone has links to an interview Iāve missed please let me know.

Final Thoughts - 2018 Long Shows
Itās finally here! Iām so close to being done with 2018 (...mostly. Weāll get to it) that I can taste it, but in the meantime, this list is gonna be weird, because there will be things that were already on other lists since I revised my rules of what should be classified how. This post is specifically for any show that ended in 2018 and lasted longer than 13-ish episodes (including shows that aired a second season during the same year or within six months of finishing the previous one), which means that thereās about as much on it as a usual season of shows, but they all had more time to impress - or disappoint me. Iām doing a better job in recent seasons of getting to everything, but last year there were unfortunately things that I missed (I was burned out in the winter) and just have to leave aside for now because I canāt wait any longer for these lists.
Anyway! As usual, letās start with what I skipped!
* The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments, The Disastrous Life of Saiki Kusuo S2, Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card, Garo: Vanishing Line, and Mr Tonegawa: Middle Management Blues because I havenāt seen their previous seasons or parent works. (Yes, even Cardcaptor Sakura. Yāall can shoot me later.)
* Hakyuu Hoshin Engi, Beatless, and Basilisk: The Ouka Ninja Scrolls because by the time I was rounding things up, I hadnāt heard a single positive thing about any of them.
Next comes what I dropped -
WORST OF THE YEAR: Steins;Gate 0 (4/10)
What a fucking mess this show was. Aside from a very noticeable downgrade in production talent from its predecessor, the plot meanders and flirts with maybe actually happening this time before just dropping out again, over and over, to the point where I was perfectly willing to drop it two episodes from the finish line because it was such an insult to fans of the original. (Also, continued disgusting mistreatment of the transgender character.)
Gundam Build Divers (4/10)
Taking the Build series from being a well-written kids show to an averagely-written kids show that hides itself in decent mech designs.
Katana Maidens (4/10)
I remember so little about this show, and granted that I did drop it after one episode almost nine months ago, but what I did remember was that it gave me strong KanColle vibes with laughably inconsistent animation and flat characters. Meh.
Darling in the FRANXX (5/10)
This should probably be lower on the list, but I got out of Darling while the getting was good, sixteen episodes in. I understand that future episodes of the show cemented it as crappy right-wing nonsense in addition to pushing worldbuilding out of its fortieth-story window, but the moment it lost me was much sooner, when the crazy yandere female lead was reduced, almost instantly, to Good Anime Waifu as a reward to the protagonist for going against his friends with his selfish motives.
Persona 5 the Animation (5/10)
In addition to not actually finishing in 2018, Persona 5 just did not give me a single reason to watch it when Iād already finished the source game, with middling-to-bad visuals (thanks to the switch from Production I.G. to A-1 Pictures, and not even the team that created the much better-looking Day Breakers OVA before the game was released in the U.S.) and phoned-in music, which is especially unacceptable in a Persona adaptation. Also, we all absolutely called that the studio couldnāt tell the story of the entire game in just 26 episodes.
Record of Grancrest War (6/10)
Thereās people that like this one a lot, but I didnāt see much that interested me in the first two episodes. Iāve heard better things about the manga.
Golden Kamuy (6/10)
I had problems with the first half of Golden Kamuy that the second half simply didnāt fix, and it became difficult for me to keep watching - the show still interrupted almost every fight scene with a dick joke, but still wanted to maintain a serious and occasionally frightening tone - and those things simply donāt go together. It needed to either spend more time being funny, or keep its lowest-common-denominator humor out of the fights.
Next, I have two shows that are (potentially permanently) On Hold, simply because itās time for me to move on and I donāt have the time or energy to marathon them when the Winter shows are starting to wrap up:
Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits, because even though I initially dropped it, Iāve heard a lot of good things since and I want to eventually give it another shot.
Yowamushi Pedal Glory Line, because despite the fact that I still enjoyed the previous season, this one started right in the middle of my burnout and I only heard bad things about it. Iāll get to it eventually, but itās a shame that this series has been on a clear trend downwards since its revival.
And finally, the stuff I finished!
The Ancient Magusā Bride (6/10)
Keep in mind that this is here entirely on the merits of its aesthetic and its side characters - in the end, Ancient Magusā Bride is a Beauty and the Beast story where the beast gets what he wants without learning to be less of a dick or even apologizing for his clearly wrong actions.
Major 2nd (7/10)
Always pleased to have even just Good sports shows around, and this one is a very effective reboot of a classic series thatās never made its way stateside (man, the underperformance of Big Windup! really did a lot of damage to this genre in the West). With good character development and a decent second-generation premise, Major 2nd has the potential to be the beginning of a solid baseball story, assuming that it gets a needed followup.
IDOLiSH7 (7/10)
I dropped IDOLiSH7 when it first aired, and though I wound up enjoying it after I was very strongly urged to revisit it, the problems it started with never quite left it behind - that is, it has an okay cast of characters but doesnāt present even passable performance sequences, and if youāre going to include big song-and-dance numbers, they have to be good, or you may as well just be UtaPri.
ClassicaLoid Season 2 (8/10)
In 2017, I gave the first season of ClassicaLoid a near-perfect 9/10, and while this season gives us a satisfying conclusion to the story, it does things both a little better than the first, and also not quite as great. Itās story is much more well-integrated over the runtime so it doesnāt happen all at once in a few chunks, and the jokes that work are still absolute genius, but thereās simply too much that doesnāt quite land correctly, and a little too much immature humor, for it to reach the same lofty Hall of Fame heights as the first season. Still, one of the most underrated shows Iāve ever seen.
My Hero Academia Season 3 (8/10)
God, Izuku in that onesie is too damn cute.
My problems with Hero Academia are frustratingly persistent - the show is at its best when the students are competing with other students, because outside of last seasonās Stain (a villain whose motivation is specifically related to the world of MHA), the villains are just not at all compelling and they all seem a little too generic for their own good. I just want Horikoshi to be a little bit less predictable of an author and do a little less reading of the Standard Shounen Playbook. Luckily, when it works, it works magnificently.
March Comes in Like a Lion S2 (8/10)
March remains director/auteur Akiyuki Shinboās most accessible work, and one of his masterpieces, as a well-paced and marvelously moody story of a depressed shogi prodigy learning to be a normal teenager before his youth completely passes him by, and the fantastic characters that surround him with their own complex problems and motivations. I just really, really hope it gets a third season eventually, because this one did not leave off on a satisfying conclusion.
Speaking of which...
Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma S3 (9/10)
Itās almost a shame that My Hero Academia became hugely popular purely based on its accessibility to American audiences, because Food Wars pretty squarely deserves to be the reigning Shonen Jump king - each season has only improved on the previous one, and this one was based entirely on a continuing arc that could only have happened in the universe of this show, Fighting Food Fascism. That being said, it also leaves off right in the middle of the arc (because it had almost caught up to the manga), meaning that we have to hope that it can remain relevant long enough for there to be enough source material for another season. Iāll be crossing my fingers until they snap.
Banana Fish (9/10)
Yes, this has risen a point since my review, but Banana Fish still deserves to be thought of as both a complete masterwork of crime fiction, being fantastically paced and expertly plotted in the use of its many, many twists, and a work that disappointed the side of me that hoped that, in adapting it into the modern day, MAPPA could have managed to get the author to let them depict what is clearly a queer relationship with the authenticity and legitimacy that it deserved. Itās still amazing, though, and Amazon should be pushing it with their most lavishly-made originals. At least it was the last noitaminA show theyāll get to totally bury.
And, finally, the one you all saw coming.
BEST OF THE YEAR: Lupin the 3rd Part V (10/10)
Lupin is, quite simply, one of the pinnacles of the medium. A simple idea that can (and did) go in thousands of different directions, handled by highly creative writers and an animation staff that has been knocking it out of the park for years, despite the fact that it is criminally (heh) unrecognized in the West. To put it simply, thereās a very, very good reason that itās been around since the 70ā²s.
Okay! All I have left to do is finish Dragon Pilot (waiting on a friend) and we can get the last two lists out of the way! Weāre almost done...

I'm gonna just say this because we've all thought it at some point or another:
People in this fandom will get mad at fucking anything.
It makes sense at a glance because the fandom is very large (especially considering a big chunk of it is inexperienced, seeing as this is one of- if not- their first fandom), so not everyone is going ro be happy with every decision that the creator makes ((not to mention, fandoms these days are getting WAY too fucking comfortable heckling and harassing creators))
When Midoriya cries, he's seen as weak hearted.
When he doesn't cry, he doesn't care.
Like, to hijack this post a bit, the hospital scene where Bakugou woke up from /literally saving Midoriya's life/ he was eccentric to say the least, running off of adrenaline and fear. People with reading comprehension skills recognized that he was worried for Midoriya's safety. People without reading comprehension skills claimed that he was 'just being his typical self' (not stopping to think that maybe 'his typical self' is actually a coping mechanism?? and he uses it to pretend he's okay).
But imagine, if you will, that he hadn't leaped out of bed, fought through his classmates, and tried his damndest to make sure Midoriya was okay. Guess what? Then "he doesn't even care."
No matter what, he loses.
Of course, there are also a myriad of people leaping at Bakugou's throat in hopes of gaining moral superiority (which is veeery hypocritical of them, especially considering they often view themselves as 'better' than the people who like him and often even harass others for liking him... you know... just like the very person they condemn) (that's also another good indicator that a lot of the fans are new, because the 'asshole rival' is literally a trope in so many Shounen anime and often goes as far as trying to actively kill the mc, buuut that's a different discussion).
((The girls are a great example of this, too, but they're also so poorly written- as in they are completely underutilized, so most arguments are valid))
The Class 1-A versus Class 1-B tournament! (Excluding the fandom's disdain towards Bakugou) Is also a good example of this.
If Class A had won by a landslide, it would have been unfair, since Class B doesn't have literally any spotlight and has somehow been exempt from the plot all year.
If Class B had won by a landslide, it would have still been unfair, because they haven't had the real time experience that Class A has had.
Back to characters, though, Miruko! She got injured during her big fight with the ugly ass Doctor bitch. She fought like a goddamned beast, but she got hurt! Her getting injured feeds into every other, "Horikoshi is a misogynist" meta that's being put up.
But, if she had made it out unscathed, then she'd be labeled a 'too perfect' and shitty attempt at writing a strong female character.
The thing is, you can't please everyone- especially not when there are so, so many people who enjoy this peice of media. People are always going to have shit takes or 'eh,,, I mean...' opinions, and there are always going to be debates.
But if assholes out there are getting annoyed/upset about a sixteen year old boy showing his feelings, regardless of the fact that his entire fucking world is crumbling around him, they need to take a step back from their bullshit fucking soapbox and snap the fuck out of it.
Anyway, there's no real point, but it's getting really fucking annoying that the generation if people up their own ass about "be critical of the media you consume" can't even take two fucking seconds to realize the shit they're spewing is so undeniably hypocritical and fucking stupid.
Who wins vs who loses is always up for debate.
How injured a character gets and whether or not they keep fighting is typically heavily exaggerated in Shounen anime (and so many other medias).
Representation is always a difficult, two sided battle. (This is about the girls, but also about Magne and Tora- both a discussion for another time).
But kids? Fucking children? Showing their emotions? Should not be this fucking dragged.
Let characters realize the errors of their ways.
Let characters try and do better.
Let characters be human- in anger, in sorrow, in heavily conflicting emotions that they can't convey (if a character always reacts "the right way," guess what? They're poorly fucking written.)
Let
Characters
Relapse
Let characters cry.
Let characters act fucking stupid because guess what??? Humans act fucking stupid all the fucking time.
Teenage boys, especially, have such a stigma around showing their emotions- if they're upset, they're weak; if they're angry, they're scary; if they're happy, they're being weird- let them work out their own goddamned feelings.
Let them regret their actions.
Horikoshi kinda sucks ass at showing long term trauma (and he definitely has too many ideas for the world and not enough time or space to impliment them), but this is one of the few things he's starting to get right!
Also for a generation that won't shut up about 'critical consumption,' there are a shit ton of people who refuse to look any fucking deeper than the surface level of actions and it's absolutely infuriating.
So apparently people are annoyed that Deku is crying?
Heās sleep deprived, hasnāt eaten, and is in a terrible mental state. The fate of the world is weighing on him and everyone heās ever known and loved is going to die unless heās able to stop AFO. If he accepts help he risks putting them in direct danger. If he doesnāt and does this alone, heās going to destroy himself in the process⦠Not to mention heās literally a 16-year-old child.
He just wants to save everyone.
#I tried not to make this ablut Bakugou#but for fucks sake#he and Midoriya get so much unnecessary shit#and it's only because they have so much screen time#ffs#because you know that the same people getting up their ass about Midoriya fucking crying are the same people#that yell at Bakugou for repressing his emotions#I love talking about my favorite things with a bunch of people#but fandoms these days are so fucking toxic it's unbearable#especially the large fandoms#I get that it's important to demand better of creators#especially these days when representation is all the rage#but still sometimes you need to sit back and take what you can fucking get#people will demand shit out the ass and then scrutinize it to fucking shreds-#without even realizing that there is more than just surface fucking level shit!!#Bakugou is trying to break out of the cycle that life threw him into#as is Midoriya!!! and I don't mean this in a shippy way but that's why they're so important to each other!!#Midoriya is going down the same path that Bakugou was but the difference is now instead of Midoriya breaking Bakugou out of his shell#it's Bakugou breaking Midoriya out of the toxicity that he was once victim to as well!!#again I'm trying not to derail#but the people annoyed at Midoriya are the same ones annoyed at Bakugou for doing completely opposite things#oh Midoriya's crying again?? Annoying. We get it crybaby. whatever#stupid Bakugou doesn't even have any emotions what the fuck? He's so annoyingly unfazed by everything and never changes gross#<< both of those are often said by the same person (not anyone in specific just examples)

Trucking right along, guys! Weāll be done before you know it!Ā
51: If you were given a chance to make a request to Horikoshi, what would it be? I would request a full blown Todoroki centric arc. Like, Deku can fuck off for 100 chapters for all I care, I want to know this familyās history from front to back. What kind of environment was Endeavor raised in? Does that explain why he has such an obsessive goal of being number 1 or is it literally just a rivalry with All Might? Speaking of, did they go to school together? Tell me more. Was it an arranged marriage or did he meet his wife in a normal situation and fall in love with her? How was their relationship before the kids? Whats the deal with Dabi? Please just give me the Todoroki backstory in its entirety so I can die in peace.
52: Sing you to sleep? Jiro, no questions asked. I canāt wait for the anime to get to the culture festival so we can hear her angelic voice in action.
53: Cuddle with? Fat Gum! He looks super comfy!Ā
54: Too pure/innocent character? Probably Nejire tbh. Her curious naivety is cute but I worry for what the life of a pro hero would do to someone with that kind of personality.
55: Deserve better? Endeavor deserves better than to be judged armchair psychiatrists whose PHd was printed off from the same website where you can become an ordained minister.Ā
56: Wish to have a no tragic background? Dabi, probably. It remains to be seen what exactly the canon explanation is but I have a feeling its not gonnaā be pretty even if heās not a Todoroki.Ā
57:Ā Most likely to be a gentleman? My instincts tell me that Fat Gum is probably quite the gentleman in an almost backwoods kind of way. That is to say, heās a hot blooded country bumpkin samurai with a heart of gold. Now, Iām basing that bit of characterization on the fan-translated manga which gave him some interesting verbal tics that seemed to imply he doesnāt speak the same way the kids from the big city do SO Iām quite interested to hear how he talks in the anime when we get to it in 2019.
58: Fave old/middle-aged character (30+)? Iām not saying Endeavor is old but he is approaching silver fox territory and Iām more than okay with that.
59:Ā Fav Opening song? Odd Future, hands down. Gonnaā listen to it right now, thanks.Ā
60: Fave ending theme? The fantasy setting one.Ā
61: Fave voice actor? Iāve really gottaā give Bakugouās seiyuu credit for his performance. Not only all that growling and screaming, no doubt straining his vocal chords every week no matter how much training heās had, but also for really selling that line when he was abducted by the villains.
62: Fave Character song? *sweats nervously* I ... I havenāt listened to any of the character songs ... Do they actually exist?Ā
63: Fave OST? Uh, what?Ā
64: Fave battle(s)? Without spoiling too much, Iāll just say that Deku vs. Bakugou round 2 is gonnaā be a great episode and Iām really looking forward to the hero vs. villain fight weāre ramping up to in the current episode.Ā
65: Most shocking plot twist/unexpected scene? Me subscribing to the Dabi-is-a-Todoroki theme.Ā Ummm, not to get too spoilery but I think almost everything at the end of the Yakuza arc was pretty unexpected based on all that had happened up until that point.
66: Selfie with? I would love nothing more than to take a selfie with Bakugouās grumpy ass. I know that might sound a little weird but Iām actually being completely serious.Ā
67: Study in a library with? I would like to make some lewd, sex-in-the-library related joke but knowing who I am as a person, I probably legitimately need the help so Iād probably be best off with Momo or Shoto.
68: Most underrated character? Probably Tokoyami. Iām damn close to stanning him and I demand more content of his edgy bird boy immediately.
69: Most overrated character? Present Mic. Heās really not all that and I donāt get this fascination with him.
70: If you desire to see oneās ending? Who would it be? Iām not entirely sure what this is asking but if you mean who do I want to see die, itād be either Mineta or Aoyama.
71: Change Character design? I wouldnāt change any design because Horikoshi worked hard on these characters and it would be downright foolish of me to think that I knew better than him.
72: Looks like a cinnamon roll, but it is a cinnamon roll?Ā Nejire tbh.
73: Cinnamon roll but would actually kill you?Ā Toga.
74:Ā Looks like would actually kill you, but it is a cinnamon roll? Bakugou.
75:Ā Looks like would actually kill you, and would actually kill you. Endeavor lol
76: Over sexualized character? In canon or by the fandom? Because overall, Iād say that Horikoshi doesnāt sexualize his girls very often but as per usual the fandom goes hog wild on everything and there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing that to fictional characters.
77: Cook with? I bet Fat Gum knows how to cook and he could show me some pointers. Itād be fun to cook with Tamaki too, so he could show off his quirk at every turn.Ā
78: Funniest character? Honestly there is no character that sounds out to me as being particularly funny but my sense of humor is also severely warped so take that with a grain of salt.Ā
79:Ā Best hardening quirk: Tetsutetsu/Kirishima? Iām gonnaā side with Kirishima on this one.
80: Whose penis would be painful to be fucked? (LOL) Am I answering questions written by a 12 year old? Just asking. So, I headcanon that Endeavor is pretty well endowed and the haters will have to literally tear that fat cock out of my cold, unresponsive hands.I also think Fat Gum is packing because the kanji in his name meanĀ āthickā andĀ āfullā which, yeah, if youāre an unimaginative prude that just means theyāre talking about his fat body but to me, an intellectual, all Iām seeing is dick. Incidentally, I think All Might is pretty big too (essentially all of the baraās)Ā Ā
81: Best Goth character? Tokoyami is the closest weāve got.
82: Shop with? Endeavor because he has plenty of money to spend on me and he seems like the type who wouldnāt even spare the cheap shit a second glance which is a sentiment I appreciate as a boujee bitch.Ā
83: Fave OVA? There were only two so this isnāt even much of a choice, but I liked the zombie one.
84: Would you let Momo spoil you with her quirk? I would let literally anyone spoil me because Iām an attention starved materialist.Ā
85: Villain that youād wish to be a hero? Eh, probably Gentle. Maybe if heād been able to become a hero we couldāve avoided that shoehorned appearance of his in the middle of the culture festival.Ā
86: Needs to calm down? Honestly probably Inasa. Heās gonnaā be so damn loud in the anime ... but I canāt wait to see him anyway!Ā
And with that my friends, we have reached the end! Apparently we just werenāt able to come up with a few more questions to round us out at an even 100 which Iām quite thankful for which means that I can finally go to bed! orz Thanks for sticking around with me through these trying times, your patience is much appreciated!Ā

WHOA BLACK CLOVER HAS AN ANIME NOW I GOTTA GO WATCH IT
Well, only the first episode for now but yeah!!! I canāt wait for my favs to show up aaahhhhhh!!!!!!Ā
Anon said:Omg, Kirishima, please teach me how to put on eyeliner, your eyeliner game is on point! (Seriously, tho, I love how you draw their eyes and how you draw Kiri in general. He seems so soft. Damn, Bakugou, I'm jealous that you can cuddle him)
THANK YOU!!!! And Kiri has really really pretty lashes in the manga too, doesnāt he? Bakugou too! They have seriously pretty eyes I spend a lot of time trying to get that right when drawing haha still not as good at Horikoshi tho after all, but what can we do~
Anon said:Every time I get a notification you posted something I get extremely happy! That's what your drawings did to me. How can one be so talented.
SOB thank you so much!! You being happy makes meĀ happy so itās happiness all around!!! What a good!!!
Anon said:Heey!! So I've been wondering... if Aizawa used his quirk on Hagakure would she become visible?? (Btw love your art)
Oh my what a question, I was actually talking about this not too long ago with a friend! And the conclusion ended up being that if her invisibility is a permanent mutation he canāt, but if she can turn it off at will then probably he can too! Right now we still donāt know how exactly Tooruās quirk tho, so we canāt be sure which is the truth! (I like to think she can turn visible if she wants, but thatās just an headcanon with very little basis haha)
Anon said:Your erasermic art has blessed me 4ever thank u
NAH thank you for liking it and letting me know, man!!! <3<3<3
Anon said:I DIDNT KNOW YOU SHIP ERASERMIC OH MY GOD but seriously you're one of my favourite artists and the fact you like pretty much all the same things as I do is so amazing to me and it makes me so happy because I know that you may draw more of it in the future and I'll get to see more beautiful art if that makes sense lmao thanks for creating stuff šš
Hahahaha yeah itās one of my top ships in the fandom! Also the only one I read fics for aside from krbk I love them A LOT (and itās all thanks to my sister who directed my attention towards them a long time ago now, thank you sis) so yeah Iāll definitely draw more of them in the future!!!! And thank you so much for liking my stuff!!!!!
Anon said:Hi! I just want to say I love your headcanon of Aizawa becoming a mentor/role model to Bakugou! Thank you for introducing me to that idea!
YOUāRE MOST WELCOME Iām just a huge huge hugeĀ fan of the Aizawa&Bakugou interactions and how much Aizawa cares for him and how much Bakugou respects and trusts him in return, so!!! Iām mostly just pushing on that canon stuff hahaha
Anon said:HORY SHEET BOYO THAT ERASERMIC SHIT IS GOOD SHIT
THANK YOU FRIEND!!!
Anon said:i came to love erasermic thru kiribaku tbh. like i saw erasermic fic in the kiribaku tag on ao3 and i read it for the bg kiribaku (kirishima was such a good boi in that fic ngl) and i was like hey erasermic isnt bad. then i saw your art of them comparing them and i was like hey this is good shit šššššššššš keep it up pal
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Iāll t r y !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O
Anon said:Do you think Kyoka and Katsuki could get along? Over their like for punkrock maybe, and their gayness. Kinda like Todoroki and Momo's talks about their tiny crushes.
WHY YES ANON I think they could be the bestest of pals, Iāve actually drawn them together now and again cause I like the idea of them being friends so muchĀ - a list of some of the things Bakugou and Jirou do together:
make fun of Kaminari (Kaminari feels attackedĀ and liked it better when Jirou was convinced she didnāt like Bakugou)
share music recs and go to concerts together (when itās big ones they particularly care for they stand in line The Whole Day and at first it used to be sorta awkward but now being together makes the hours fly)
mutter sass and snark under their breaths to themselves in class and without meaning make the other snort or have to hide an actual laugh (they sit next to each other in class did you know that thatās my fav thing tbh)
sayĀ āgod, Iām so fucking gayā and answer āmoodā whenever Kirishima and Momo, like, existĀ or do anything equally outrageous
sit next to each other with their phones in hand in silence and at the same time look up with an intense/bored/obviously-judging-sero-come-on-look-at-them expression whenever anyone walks past them (theyāre actually playing bullshit app games)
play bullshit app games in co-op or having each other as friends to earn more rewards cause they have a No-Judging policy going on between them that makes sharing this sort of otherwise embarrassing stuff with each other okay
Anon said:Hi!!! I love your art and I just wanted to ask....what band were you referring to when you said Mic named him after the band "eraserhead"? Could you possibly be talking about the filipino band "Eraserheads"?
Yeah!!!!! Tho Iām sorry to let you down anon, but I havenāt actually ever heard much from them (justttt one song two days ago cause I got curious) - I found out about them while looking up the movie!
Anon said:I love how you draw mic with his hair in a bun. It's super cute
THANK YOU!!!! But I canāt really take the merit for that, since thatās how he actually wears his hair (more or less) when he doesnāt gel it up for his hero costume!
Anon said:What is your favorite kiribaku au? :D
Oh boy, I sort of love everything and anything Iāve ever seen/read tbh, Iām a HUGE AU lover!! At the moment to anything with the fantasy AU (and dragon!Kiri is always a super welcome plus) is gonna make me go :O !!!!!!!! hahaha so maybe that, who knows! Itās for sure the one I think about the most!
Anon said:Hellooooo i love your art so much? Especially the bakushimas oh my god (also do you plan on drawing more soul eater *coughs*-deathstar-*coughs* in the future?) Have a good day!!
THANK YOU! And I dunno, maybe! If inspiration strikes, why not!
Anon said:hey guess what i just did... went through your ENTIRE art tag (all the way back to the knb and one piece), i found it really cool to see how your art has developed and see what your fav ship is at a certain time (and how you always come back to bokuroo)
Ah man thank you for spending all that time on my blog hahaha I wouldnāt say I always go back to bokuro though? Itās more like... whenever the mangaĀ brings the bokuros back Iām ready to start hyping all over them again hahaha my bokuro periods always happened while they were doing things in the manga, after all~
AnonĀ said:u said u couldnt draw iida, lie of the century. i lvoe u
AHHHHH Iām glad you liked him!!!! I spent lotsa time on him in the past month or so trying to get a grasp on him, so Iām really seriously happy it seems to have paid off!! to quote Todoroki
Anon said:whereās ur faq iām on mobile
SORRY maybe you already noticed but I added the link in the description!Ā
Anon said:have you ever thought about if eri-chan can... erase her own quirk?? and would how they might handle it
Actually thatās the first thing I thought when Mirio got his own erased... well, it still depends on what exactly Eriās quirk does? We sorta assumed she had the same quirk as Chisaki, but they arenāt actually related so who knows? I sure hope she can fix the damage done on Mirio, tho!
Anon said:I ADORE YOUR ART SO MUCH OH GOD HAVE A NICE DAY FRAN
OH MY GOD THANK YOU I HOPE YOU HAVE A NICE DAY TOO!!!
Anon said:Usjeiwiwj oh man, i love cats, my cat relates to urs big time ajsjehej
Cats are such a mess and I love them with all of my heart to be honest hahaha
Anon said:Do u have any, idk idea about traitor!Kaminari? I just imagine how would others react? I think it's hella sad, and still Denki never wanted this, something just go wrong in his life and it's breakin my heart... ARGH, sorry for interrupt you with something like that...
Itās okay, donāt worry about that haha but I canāt say I find the theory possible in the least, so I havenāt really spent time thinking about it at all? I mean, I can imagine it would be full of angst and regrets and a lot of tears and anger mostly from his close friends, but since I just canāt believe this theoryĀ I canāt say I have anything specific I can give you on this orz sorry!
Anon said:Who's get jealous and possessive between bakugou and kirishima?
Actually I dunno man, areĀ they possessive and jealous? I feel like they both would like it when the other told them stuff likeĀ āIām yoursā orĀ āyouāre mineā, but being there complete and utter trust between them they wouldnāt actually be jealous or act in a possessive way... does that make sense? At most I think theyād be insecure in the beginning of their relationship, but once they managed to make it clear that yes, youāre the one I want, no one else, just youĀ then they would have little to no problems in that sense haha
Anon said:So many people seem to misunderstand bakugou and I just really like how you portray him. Good characterization and good art! šāØ
SOB THANK YOU !!!!! this means the universe to me oh g o d s!!!! <3<3
Anon said:Wait!! This isn't your main blog? Omg how did I not know this. What is your main blog (if you're willing to let people from this blog follow it haha)?
AHHHH yeah I have a main one this one is just for my doods!!! the main is @franeridan, if you wanna follow it! Iām mostly just crying over bakugou and kirishima and complaining a whole damn lot about... everything, tho hahaha
Anon said:I'm not the anon but u know the concept that kiri n Baku would meet when they were younger and when Baku was more... violent? (i know that's not the right word, I'm not a native speaker sorry!) Like I think kiri could actually make Baku less of a bully? Considering how much positive impact he had on his personality AFTER it already developed (like idk if this ask makes sense? What do u think?) ā (btw putting smth like ā was a genious idea ty, idk if u remember that ask tho?)
Yeah yeah yeah yeah!!!!! Actually Iāve been thinking about this A LOT in the past couple of days and my conclusion ended up being that the key would be either for Kirishima to know Bakugou since they were really young OR for him to not attend Bakugouās same middle school? Like, if they developed their personalities together, having someone like Kirishima around since they were kids could have made Bakugou develop differently, but if we go with theĀ āthey met in middle schoolā scenario then I think Kirishima would have had the same sort of...soothing? Effect on Bakugou only if Bakugou didnāt see him as a threat to his dream of being the only kid from that middle school to enter UA. Well, a scenario in which they had known each other since they were small young babies and Bakugou reached middle school goingĀ āthe only one from this middle school to enter UA is gonna be me and Eijirouā, that would have been hella cute wouldnāt it hahaha growing up with a notion of usĀ instead of just meĀ would have changed Bakugou a lot, Iām pretty sure :D
#fran answers#ASKS!!!! with a bit of headcanoning mixed in it#im too ill to draw so have this for now#ANYWAY ABOUT THE FIRST ASK#EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH BC#please watch bc#gimme a reason to doodle the nerds#it's such a soft and positive manga#even when people are torn to pieces you never lose hope cause asta's there and he saves the day#that's#such a lighthearted way of going about a manga GOSH#G O S H#it's good#anonymous
