Monster Bride Rambles

*Firstly any and all art linked is by @rottencoreflesh101 and @yuki2sksksk on Tumblr.

*Secondly and this is VERY important!! The designs for the monsters linked ARE NOT the cannon ones used in the story!! I repeat my designs for them are different and I only linked the ones by other artists to give others an idea for what they MIGHT look like!! I do not claim these designs linked and they ARE NOT the designs used for the story!! Only to give a brief idea of what they are!!

This will tell you all about this small AU.

Hey everyone. In honor of Halloween I thought I'd bring you a second installment for Demon Slayer fans. But this time it'll be a bit different. Instead of a long storyline there will be just a few chapters and then multiple endings with all the Demon love interests from Demon Bride. Sorry for Haishira Lovers. I might do one with the Haishira cast in the future but I just really like the Demon Cast. This is just the summery chapter to introduce you to this small AU and what everyone's roles are in this storyline. I shall now refer to it as the Monster Bride au. Some designs are inspired by rottencoreflesh101 and yuki2sksksk on Tumblr but THIS IS A COMPLETELY different au from their monster au and nothing about their au is cannon to mine except maybe the monsters. With that out of the way let's get into the important info!

*What makes the Monster Bride AU different than the Demon Bride Au?

Well it's kinda like Demon Bride only all the demons are some kind of monster instead of a demon. Except all are intelligent races that can reproduce with humans (think Hotel Transylvania type of monsters). However in this au the Monster population is MUCH bigger than the human population and not everyone knows it. In order to keep peace, Kagaya's family runs a monster hunting business and they can be both hired by people to slay certain monsters or they slay them themselves. ONLY THE HOSTILE ONES HOWEVER. Kagaya has made it his mission to improve relationships with monsters and humans and only attack the hostile ones.

However some villages placate monsters by leaving offerings of food or their daughters as brides. However once every hundred years when there's a full blood moon, the monsters come out to drag away their wanted brides whether the unfortunate victim wants them or not.

(I like the bride trope don't mock me pls-)

Also not all the humans believe in monsters. Monsters are often VERY elusive so a lot of people still don't believe in them or don't know what to believe.

*Who are all the Haishira in Monster Bride?

All of them are just regular humans as in cannon but instead of just demon slayer they're all monster hunters.

-Kaygaya and his family has inherited the organization from his deceased father and run the entire thing to help people however in retaliation, Kagaya was cursed by a witch long ago with blindness. However the kind man doesn't blame all monsters and tries to help improve relationships by sending letters to the Monster King Muzan...Even if he never gets letters back.

-the Kocho Sisters plus Aoi and their helpers run the research and development sector of the organization. They sell everything from garlic to wolfsbane to breaking curses. Kaneo, Shinobu, and Kanae are also monster hunters specialists after a monster claimed the lives of their parents. Often relying on Shinobu's weird concoctions or traps They also receive samples of DNA and sometimes live monsters and/or their bodies from Kanae's fiance Sanemi and his brother or Shinobu's partner Giyuu. Kanae also believed that most monsters deserves a chance to be heard out even if her sisters and fiance disagrees.

-Sanemi, Genya, and Gyomei are some of the powerhouses in the organization and they usually handle the bigger problems or bigger monsters such as ogers or werewolves. Gyomei is actually the one training Genya after a demon attacked his temple leading him to join the organization. Sanemi and Genya joined not too longer after they had gotten old enough too after a tragedy with a vampire. A stray vampire had turned their mother leading her to slay most of their family aside from the two brothers. Gyomei is also an exorcist and helps to remove ghosts or helps the poor souls move on. He's also one of the teachers who teach the new recruits.

-Rengoku and Tengen often work together and can be quite a team. It is said Rengoku's family was blessed by a Phoenix spirit long ago giving his family the signature red hair. The two are the fastest of the monster slayers and are usually the ones to take jobs around towns or villages with monster problems. Sometimes they will be seen with Mitsuri if they need extra muscle.

-Mitsuri is the strongest and most flexible hunter and is the one who handles the REALLY big monsters like giants or dragons if they get too close to towns however she's also the negotiater between humans and monsters. If there's ever a situation that they can solve peacefully usually she's the one called to talk to the monster. She's also the one who's responsible for rehoming the tame magical creatures if they get too close to humans such as unicorns or jackolopes.

-Iguro is an expert hunter and usually has to help Gyomei teach the new hunters. He doesn't like it however. He is secretly dating Mitsuri after a cupid shot him with a confession arrow while the two were alone. Therefore he hates things like love potions and cupids. He literally dives under the nearest biggest object of he thinks he sees one. His expertise is hunting nagas and other reptile like monsters due to one killing most of his family and leaving him scared. The only monster he really won't say anything bad about is ghosts because he often sees them as poor lost souls.

-Tanjiro, Inosuke, Nezuko, and Zenitsu are monster hunters in training after one monster or another claimed the lives of their families. Zenitsu might have a crush on Nezuko which Tanjiro has mixed feelings about. He can often be seen training with the Tokito twins or being mentored by someone. Both Tokito boys were taken in by Gyomei after their parents died of natural causes

-Giyuu is a hunter that specializes in water based monsters. Rogue mermaids, sirens, water elementals, maybe even a young kraken or two. He's seen them all and can often be seen soaking wet from missions and dragging the carcus of some water dweller behind him for Shinobu and her sisters to study.

*Who are the Demons in Monster Bride?

All are some kind of monster but they're personalities are the same as cannon.

Muzan Kibutsuji

-The king of all monsters and non-human beings.

-He's part demon and part fae so he is INCREDIBLY powerful and handsome.

-his blood can be used to give blessings or curses however he can also turn a human into any monster he wishes. Was the one to turn Kokushibo into a monster.

-Lives in his own pocket dimension known as the infinity castle and rarely shows himself due to a secret fear of humans made by Yorichii. The only human he completely trusts is his wife Rei.

-Has a semi deal with the humans. If any creature invades their territory or causes harm then they are free game.

-Doesnt really make an appearance in the story.

Kokushibo

-Muzans right hand man and spy for anything he needs. Was turned into a monster by Muzan after willingly rejecting his humanity to become stronger.

-Was human however he was turned into an Omukade (centipede yokai) by Muzan. He looks like the links ago.

-Out of all the monsters Kokushibo has slain the most hunters and is the most skilled fighter. Often using ambush attacks, being silent but deadly, and his lethal venom.

-He acts as Muzan's assistant doing anything he needs outside of the infinity castle

-He is also Kaigaku's mentor and raised him after finding him abandoned as a child.

-He can switch to his human form but it's incredibly painful

Douma

-Douma is possibly the second monster that has the most interactions with humans. He's a kelpie-centaur seen like in the links below

-Douma has exactly 3 forms. His human form, centaur-ish form, and water form where his horse back legs turn into a fish tail. He can breath underwater, and use his skin like glue when he wills it so. He often likes to pretend to be a centaur or human to catch prey off guard or visit Akaza in his body of water.

-Douma rules over a pretty large lake that's just chalk FULL of fish and other wild life. Surrounding villages think he is some kind of water god and make sacrifices in exchange for letting them take fish from his lake. He devours any sacrifice his lovely followers gift him although raw beef and human flesh is his favorites.

-he likes bothering Akaza as he's one of the few monsters that'll pay attention to him mostly by yelling or fights.

-He has a special relationship with Daki and Gyutaro. Mostly because he partially raised them after their mother attempted to drown Gyutaro in his lake. He ended up drowning her instead and devouring her body. However he took mercy upon the siblings when realizing that they weren't human either.

-He often drags big fish to their forest home or sometimes brings them his human sacrifices. Was also the one to give Gyutaro tips on navigating around hunters if he encountered them.

Akaza

-Akaza is a Betta fish merman like seen in the links below

-Was actually born into a human village with a poor father whom fell in love with a mermaid. It is unclear what happened to his mother however his father tragically took his own life.

-Was once engaged to a human woman called Koyuki but a group of male villagers murdered both her and her father after learning of her monster fiance. After murdering all the ones responsible, Akaza fled to the safety of a nearby series of streams where he continues to live.

-Because of his experiences from humans, Akaza drowns any unsuspecting men whom wonder into his waters but spares women and children. However he remains unseen so everyone just thinks the series of streams are cursed.

-Met Douma when the kelpie-centaur attempted to eat a woman who was fishing in one of his streams. Akaza was luckily able to save her but now Douma somehow sees him as his 'best friend' and continues to make numerous trips a year to see him. Akaza hates him for his eating habits.

Nakime

-Not much is known about her. Her identity is mostly secret to everyone but Muzan.

-He is a cyclops siren hybrid but instead of her voice her power stems from her musical talent for the biwa.

-was taken in by Muzan after he saved her from a hunter and she now dutifully serves him mostly by transporting him and his family about the areas.

-was rumored to once be a famous entertainer for a king

Hantengu And His Sons

Hantengu:

-Hantengu is a shadow elemental often using his abilities to hide in the shadows and whimper and cry until one of his sons find him and brings him home again. He can also shrink his size and has a slight victim complex.

-Was married long ago to a harpy woman who bore him fives sons. However she was tragically killed by some humans when caught stealing a cow when Zohakuten was a baby.

-The death of his wife has made him fear humans more and make his sons very protective of him.

Sekido

-The oldest quadruplet brother and the angriest.

-A lightning elemental. He is 100% immune to lightning and often can be found outside in thunderstorms

-He's the leader of the brothers even if Urogi and Karaku don't always listen to him.

-Surprisingly doesn't hate humans but finds them really, really, REALLY weak and annoying and if one would annoy him he wouldn't hesitate to taze them.

Karaku:

-The second eldest brother and the one with the most experience with humans.

-He has actually dated quite a lot of men and women humans

-Wind elemental

-The most carefree flirty brother and doesn't get along with Gyutaro after flirting with Daki once and then being chased by an angry wendigo brother.

Urogi:

-Urogi is a golden eagle harpy being the only one who took after their mother and the third oldest

-Also the second friendliest of the brothers and like Karaku has had a few relationships with them.

-LOVES hunting prey. Everything from rabbits to giant bears. It's the birds of prey in him.

-Unlike Karaku however he knows how to tone it down more and laughs whenever he's chased by another's angry partner.

Aizetsu:

-Metal elemental and youngest of the quadruplets.

-Aizetsu is the weakest of his brothers being only able to use the iron in his body to create weapons however his favorite is a spear he usually carries in his back.

-Being the weakest has him being self conscious of himself despite his kind demeanor

-He enjoys any compliments or praise he gets and often gets crushed easily.

Zohakuten:

-Tree elemental and the youngest brother of the Hantengu boys. Can manipulate wood and trees.

-The strongest of the brothers despite being only fourteen years old.

-He's as hotheaded as Sekido and often the two will fight and but heads even though they do legitimately care for one another. However his closest brother is Aizetsu whom listens to him. He's also the one who usually stays home with their father.

-Has five earth dragons as pets and gave them all tree names: Maple, Oak, Pine, Birch, and Willow. They were gifted to him as babies by Urogi whom found them while hunting.

Gyokko

-Was a merman mutated by a curse for stealing a vase from a sea witch, is now a spirit cursed to forever haunt the vase he once stole.

-Despite his appearance he's surprisingly content and often just wants to be left alone to work on his own artwork.

-VERY gay for Hantengu

-Doesnt really show up in the story

Gyutaro

-a wendigo born from a wendigo father and human mother. Looks like the links below

-theres not really a lot of his kind left due to humans constantly hunting them. So he's usually on edge especially when it comes to his little sister. No human or monster is allowed near her except for Douma who half raised them as kids. He's also very self conscious about his appearance due to not getting enough food sometimes.

-hates humans for their treatment of him and the fact their mother attempted to drown him as a child. Although...he finds a few human women very pretty looking. Y/n in particular. Not as beautiful as his sister though!

-he secretly likes having someone scratch behind his ears. His tail thumps when someone does scratch him there

Daki

-Daki is a albino jorogumo (spider centaur creature) born from a human mother and drider father and looks like the art linked below

-despite a spider's reputation, many creatures both human and non-human alike have come to try and court her. Most are usually caught in her webs for food or run off or killed by her older brother. The only creature they both welcome unconditionally is Douma who partially raised them and often brings food if they haven't eaten in a while.

-her views on humans is...mixed. she adores the jewelry and cloth they make and her brother seems to have a crush on one. Plus some are delicious! But on the other hand they're really REALLY annoying.

-He's often very vain and complains a lot but is very protective of her brother for how much his kind is hated and hunted by humans so she often puts up web traps around their home.

Enmu

-Corrupted sandman, A K.A. Boogeyman. This man used to work for the man in the moon but would torment the poor souls he was supposed to help sleep by giving them traumatic nightmares. After he was caught he was immediately kicked out and banned from the moon's light.

-knows many kinds of tricks including hypnotism and a few medical techniques from being around humans for so long.

-he's nocturnal and usually sleeps in the shadows or somewhere dark during the day to walk around and torment others dreams at night. However he was surprised to find someone not affected by his abilities.

-he adores the human invention of trains and thus is often spotted sleeping hidden away in train stations or on trains or tormenting sleeping people on trains.

Kaigaku

-Kaigaku is the only known demon-vampire hybrid and was abandoned by his parents as a young child. Was later found by Kokushibo and trained him to use a sword.

-He's not very powerful amongst other monsters but is definitely faster and stronger than a human. He also doesn't need blood to live like a full blooded vampire however he drinks it to make himself more powerful. Different monster's blood has different effects on him.

-Despite his blood thirsty heritage he adores peaches and any food with the fruit in it. He's actually gotten in trouble a lot for trespassing onto human farms for the fruit and was chased away by angry villagers.

-his demon half cancels out most of his vampire halfs weakness. So while he CAN walk in sunlight he's prone to get sunburns very easily. More than once he's shown up to training with red patches all over him.

Susamaru and Yahaba

-both are yokai whom work for Muzan

-they usually just protect his human wife and child whenever they go out and Kokushibo can't accompany them

-they surprisingly work well together

-they don't appear in the story

Kyogai

-Elf-demon hybrid and is actually pretty weak. Is the reason he prefers to remain hidden in his forest mansion and write.

-his two main hobbies are writing and playing the Tsuzumi drum even though he's not very confident about either because of his now deceased father's constant disapproval.

-Actually very neautal towards humans. He doesn't hate them but he doesn't want them around either preferring to just be better left alone. However he does go into monster friendly towns nearby to purchase more books or writing utensils.

-has secretly published MANY popular books under a fake name and has made a decent amount of money from it.

Rui

-Spider tiefling.

-He lives with his parents and many brothers and sisters in the forest and often they compete with driders for territory and food both being spider creatures.

-he's very much like his cannon self and doesn't make an appearance in this story but thought it'd be interesting to mention him anyways.

Honorable Mentions

-Rei is a human while her and Muzan's daughter is a mixture of demon, Fae, and human but looks completely human.

-Hairou is plain and simple a vampire.

-The Swamp Demon is of course a trio of Swamp Monster triplets.

-Yushiro is a fae. Either a fairy or elf.

*What is Tamayo in the AU?

A celestial maiden and Y/n's mother. She was very beautiful and many men attempted to work her, Muzan included before he met Rei years later. Instead she fell in love with a human before he tragically passed away.

She again fell in love with Y/n's father after healing him and years later Y/n was born. Those related to a celestial maiden are blessed with kindness and beauty and Y/n is no exception. And unlike Demon Bride, Y/n does have a good relationship with her parents.

I left whom Y/n's father is ambiguous so you can imagine if it's Yushiro or not.

*What is Y/n in Monster Bride?

Despite her mother being a celestial maiden, Y/n was born completely human. I also left what Y/n looks like completely up to interpretation. So imagine her to look however YOU want.

All of them are just regular humans as in cannon but instead of just demon slayer they're all monster hunters.

*Who are the Demons in Monster Bride?

All are some kind of monster but they're personalities are the same as cannon.

Muzan Kibutsuji

-The king of all monsters and non-human beings.

-He's part demon and part fae so he is INCREDIBLY powerful and handsome.

-his blood can be used to give blessings or curses however he can also turn a human into any monster he wishes. Was the one to turn Kokushibo into a monster.

-Lives in his own pocket dimension known as the infinity castle and rarely shows himself due to a secret fear of humans made by Yorichii. The only human he completely trusts is his wife Rei.

-Has a semi deal with the humans. If any creature invades their territory or causes harm then they are free game.

-Doesnt really make an appearance in the story.

Kokushibo

-Muzans right hand man and spy for anything he needs. Was turned into a monster by Muzan after willingly rejecting his humanity to become stronger.

-Was human however he was turned into an Omukade (centipede yokai) by Muzan. He looks similar to the links ago.

-Out of all the monsters Kokushibo has slain the most hunters and is the most skilled fighter. Often using ambush attacks, being silent but deadly, and his lethal venom.

-He acts as Muzan's assistant doing anything he needs outside of the infinity castle

-He is also Kaigaku's mentor and raised him after finding him abandoned as a child.

-He can switch to his human form but it's incredibly painful

Douma

-Douma is possibly the second monster that has the most interactions with humans. He's a kelpie-centaur similar like in the links below

Akaza

-Akaza is a Betta fish merman similar to the art seen in the links below

Nakime

-Not much is known about her. Her identity is mostly secret to everyone but Muzan.

-He is a cyclops siren hybrid but instead of her voice her power stems from her musical talent for the biwa.

-was taken in by Muzan after he saved her from a hunter and she now dutifully serves him mostly by transporting him and his family about the areas.

-was rumored to once be a famous entertainer for a king

Hantengu And His Sons

Hantengu:

-Was married long ago to a harpy woman who bore him fives sons. However she was tragically killed by some humans when caught stealing a cow when Zohakuten was a baby.

-The death of his wife has made him fear humans more and make his sons very protective of him.

Sekido

-The oldest quadruplet brother and the angriest.

-A lightning elemental. He is 100% immune to lightning and often can be found outside in thunderstorms

-He's the leader of the brothers even if Urogi and Karaku don't always listen to him.

-Surprisingly doesn't hate humans but finds them really, really, REALLY weak and annoying and if one would annoy him he wouldn't hesitate to taze them.

Karaku:

-The second eldest brother and the one with the most experience with humans.

-He has actually dated quite a lot of men and women humans

-Wind elemental

-The most carefree flirty brother and doesn't get along with Gyutaro after flirting with Daki once and then being chased by an angry wendigo brother.

Urogi:

-Urogi is a golden eagle harpy being the only one who took after their mother and the third oldest

-Also the second friendliest of the brothers and like Karaku has had a few relationships with them.

-LOVES hunting prey. Everything from rabbits to giant bears. It's the birds of prey in him.

-Unlike Karaku however he knows how to tone it down more and laughs whenever he's chased by another's angry partner.

Aizetsu:

-Metal elemental and youngest of the quadruplets.

-Aizetsu is the weakest of his brothers being only able to use the iron in his body to create weapons however his favorite is a spear he usually carries in his back.

-Being the weakest has him being self conscious of himself despite his kind demeanor

-He enjoys any compliments or praise he gets and often gets crushed easily.

Zohakuten:

-Tree elemental and the youngest brother of the Hantengu boys. Can manipulate wood and trees.

-The strongest of the brothers despite being only fourteen years old.

-Has five earth dragons as pets and gave them all tree names: Maple, Oak, Pine, Birch, and Willow. They were gifted to him as babies by Urogi whom found them while hunting.

Gyokko

-Was a merman mutated by a curse for stealing a vase from a sea witch, is now a spirit cursed to forever haunt the vase he once stole.

-Despite his appearance he's surprisingly content and often just wants to be left alone to work on his own artwork.

-VERY gay for Hantengu

-Doesnt really show up in the story

Gyutaro

-a wendigo born from a wendigo father and human mother. Looks similar to the links below

-he adores the human invention of trains and thus is often spotted sleeping hidden away in train stations or on trains or tormenting sleeping people on trains.

Kaigaku

-Kaigaku is the only known demon-vampire hybrid and was abandoned by his parents as a young child. Was later found by Kokushibo and trained him to use a sword.

Susamaru and Yahaba

-both are yokai whom work for Muzan

-they usually just protect his human wife and child whenever they go out and Kokushibo can't accompany them

-they surprisingly work well together

-they don't appear in the story

Kyogai

-Elf-demon hybrid and is actually pretty weak. Is the reason he prefers to remain hidden in his forest mansion and write.

-his two main hobbies are writing and playing the Tsuzumi drum even though he's not very confident about either because of his now deceased father's constant disapproval.

-has secretly published MANY popular books under a fake name and has made a decent amount of money from it.

Rui

-Spider tiefling.

-He lives with his parents and many brothers and sisters in the forest and often they compete with driders for territory and food both being spider creatures.

-he's very much like his cannon self and doesn't make an appearance in this story but thought it'd be interesting to mention him anyways.

-Rei is a human while her and Muzan's daughter is a mixture of demon, Fae, and human but looks completely human.

-Hairou is plain and simple a vampire.

The Niles and Daphne show

So, background: some friends and I used to watch Down With Love a lot and I became a fan of David Hyde Pierce (he’s the modern Danny Kaye or Donald O’Connor--he can act, sing, dance, and be funny at the same time). Anyway, when I came home from school and turned on the TV, two shows were always on: M*A*S*H and Frasier. I saw Niles and was like “What’s DHP doing in this sitcom?” and started to watch. I quickly became intrigued by the subplot featuring Niles and Daphne, and looked up a list of every episode featuring it, and made a list. This being before streaming, I checked the TV schedule and saw that all of those episodes were on TV within the next two weeks. So I recorded them and watched them in order, and discovered that it formed a really excellent show with a satisfying overarching plot and character development, and got more invested in that than in the rest of Frasier. So now I go back and re-watch what I call The Niles and Daphne show. I’m always trying to get more people into this tiny fandom. So in view of that, I present my curated watch list of Frasier, A.K.A. I FUCKING LOVE THIS SERIES OMG! I loved the first book, and this one was just as good, if not better. Opal Reyne does a fantastic job with world building and character development, I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Davey is wearing eyeliner, and he looks incredible.

Davey is wearing eyeliner, and it feels like someone just shot Jack in the forehead point blank, because Jack's mind is empty and all he can think about is how good his boyfriend looks standing in front of him.

This isn't even-- it's not even a new development. Davey has been experimenting with makeup a lot recently, with the help of Sarah and Kath, and he's gotten really good at it. He even uses Jack as a model sometimes (and jack likes it more than he'd like to admit), so Jack knows Davey likes makeup. Jack knows that Davey is good at makeup, and of course he'd wear it for Halloween, and of course it would be a big deal since he never really celebrated Halloween as a child and this is his first ever actual costume party being thrown by their friends and he looks great and he's perfect and wonderful and Jack already knows he's going to be distracted all night.

"Wow," He says under his breath as Davey comes to a stop in front of him.

The two of them have been planning this costume for over a month, ever since Race announced that he and Albert were throwing a party at their place. It's going to be crowded to Hell and back, surely, but isn't that the fun of throwing a party in an apartment? Race's apartment is definitely better than the shoebox that Jack and Davey have moved into, that's for damn sure.

Jack looks his boyfriend over again, then grins as Davey says, "You look great, Jackie."

"Are you kidding? Look at you," Jack takes a step forward, running his arms down Davey's yellow rain jacket. "You look adorable. I love you so much."

They've gone for a Coraline and Wybie look for the party. That was the one costume they could agree on- Jack wanted to do something with Beetlejuice or American Horror Story, while Davey was rooting for Corpse Bride or The Addams Family, but then Davey suggested Coraline and, well, how could Jack say no?

And Davey went all out for it, too. The rain jacket, the boots, the red messenger bag- hell, he even dyed his hair dark blue to match the character. Not with fake hairspray or anything, but actual dye. It doesn't look too different from his natural color, but there's a blue tint to it when Davey steps into the right lighting, and Jack is in love with it. In addition to that, Davey also did some of the fake freckles on his cheeks, and his eyes are so impossibly blue while framed by the deep black eyeliner...

Jack doesn't know how he's going to make it through this, not with Davey looking absolutely perfect at his side.

Nonetheless, Davey rolls his eyes fondly at the attention. "You're such a sap," He says softly, and reaches out to run his hand through Jack’s curls. Jack had refrained from doing anything to his hair all month- cutting, dyeing, what have you- just so he could have a better Wybie costume. His curls aren't quite the same texture or anything, but Davey had assured him he looked fine with it. "I think we look cute."

"And I think we're gonna be the best-looking couple there," Jack grins, tilting his head. "Al and Race aren't gonna know what hit 'em."

"Mm, good. What are they going as?" Davey asks as he wrap his arms loosely around Jack, hanging onto his shoulders.

Jack grins. "Racer’s a 'corrupted sexy nun', according to the text he sent me last week, and I got a snapchat from Al earlier. He was wearing demon horns, so..."

"Oh, they're one of those couples," Davey laughs softly, looking into Jack’s eyes. "Should we have gone for something sexy?"

"You're always sexy."

Davey flushes pink and rolls his eyes. "We could've done a whole Bonnie and Clyde thing. I'd look even hotter with a gun and some blood splatter, don't you think?"

"We could've done a lot of things. I still think we'd make a cute Leslie and Ben," Jack raises a brow, grinning. "Maybe do a whole 'Legally Blonde' thing or somethin'."

Davey shakes his head, nose scrunching up as he grins. "I don't look good blonde."

"Who says you get to be the blonde?" Jack asks with a smirk. As Davey laughs and rests his head on Jack's shoulder, Jack wraps his arms around his waist and says, "I don't think Halloween is about lookin' good. Ya just gotta have fun with it."

"Right," Davey murmurs, "and that's why you went as a soccer player for three years in a row in high school."

Jack's eyes widen, and he gasps as he backs up. "I cannot believe Racer told you that! When did he tell you?"

Davey shrugs, and shoots Jack an innocent smile. "Bold of you to assume your mom didn't tell me. She showed me pictures, too. Real cute."

"That's even worse!"

Davey laughs loudly, high in his throat, as he turns away and grabs the last few items he needs from the kitchen table- his phone and his wallet, mainly so they can call an Uber after the party, knowing that everyone is probably getting wasted tonight.

And that's fine, because tonight is supposed to be fun. It's going to be fun.

With that thought in mind, Jack and Davey leave their apartment hand in hand.

Yesssss, my old love!

Who buys flowers for the others: Killian buys flowers for Emma for special occasions. And also, he will give her flowers fairly often on a whim, but those tend to be stolen from peoples' gardens or random wildflowers. He sees something pretty or that reminds him of Emma, and he will give it to her.

Who makes the others coffee/tea: Killian makes coffee. He has a French press and makes individual servings. Emma doesn't have the patience, and left to her own devices will have a coffee machine set to a timer, which Killian considers a travesty of the worst kind. Neither of them drinks a lot of tea on their own, so most of the time it's actually Snow preparing it if either of them end up drinking it. But they both will sometimes. And Emma had dibs on making hot chocolate. It's basically the only thing in the kitchen that Killian isn't allowed to make, because she does it better.

Who eats the most candy on Halloween: Emma does! She really likes going along trick-or-treating with Henry/her little brother/whatever kid happens to be available. It's something she never really got to do as a kid, and she loves the whole experience. She also shamelessly filches candy the entire time. Killian is not so attached to that part of the holiday, but he doesn't mind dressing up and handing out candy at the door. He does take the "trick, or" part seriously though and will prank some of the people who come by.

Who tries new recipes all the time: Killian. He loves all types of cuisine, and has collected them for all his years traveling. One of his favorite things about living in Storybrooke is access to so many varieties of ingredients, and he is determined to see what he can do with basically all of them.

Who genuinely likes pineapple on pizza: Killian. He lacks the cultural context that it's a travesty or whatever, and it's actually his favorite type of pizza. Emma is disgusted by this.

Who wears hats on special occasions: Emma wears beanies sometimes, especially when it's really cold out, but special occasions? Well, Killian does in fact have a pirate hat. Let's just say it gets busted out every now and again.

Who likes ‘90s R&B: I think Emma? She has some old mix CDs that she sometimes plays while driving around in the Bug, and Killian thinks they are horrendous. That isn't music, Swan! Turn it off! Emma sings along louder on purpose.

Who likes long walks on the beach: They both do! They both have always loved the ocean, and like to be nearby it. Emma especially likes to watch the waves when she is feeling upset or thoughtful, and Killian feels unsettled if it has been too long that he hasn't seen the ocean. One of their favorite quiet little moments is dates that end with them just walking along the beach in silence, holding hands.

Who buys wacky picture frames: Henry gave Emma a terrible macaroni art picture frame as a joke, but she was actually deeply touched by the gesture. It reminded her of the kind of thing she always wanted to do, and even though she knows it was a joke she treasures it. She also got a couple of tacky ship/pirate themed frames for Killian that he despises on a decorative level but is reluctantly fond of because Emma was thinking of him and gave him an unprompted gift.

Who compares themselves to fictional/celebrity couples: Emma does sometimes, pretty much just with fictional couples or characters. This is all well and good until they actually meet the fictional couple in question, which she secretly dreads. Killian has seen the Princess Bride, Star Wars, etc., since she first made those comparisons/references. He actually finds it kind of charming, and especially the Princess Bride comparison.

Who can solve a rubix cube: Killian can easily figure it out. It's a little annoying to actually move around, because he has to kind of brace it in his hook while trying to turn it with his hand. Because of this, Henry is able to finish a rubix cube faster, but it's only because of that. Emma is hopeless at them and relatively quickly switches to just randomly spinning things around without much attention put into it.

Who would wear Hawaiian shirts on vacation/during the summer: David does, and he tries to get Killian to at one point. Killian refuses though, because he has a very developed sense of personal style that doesn't bow to whatever he's being told is the fashion where he happens to be.

Who wears mismatched socks because they can’t keep up with the pairs: Emma, sometimes. She likes to laze around in the morning when possible, and in fact goes hard on making laziness happen on the weekends. This is necessary because Killian is an early riser and can't stand to just sit around usually. (I wrote a fic about this in fact.) Anyway, sometimes when she's sleepy she just pulls on whatever. She also seems to lose left socks in the laundry a lot. Killian has no such problems, and nothing ever gets lost in the laundry when he's doing it. Somehow.

Oh sweet joy! It turns out that there are many more great, fantastic, cosy movies (and tv-series!) just absolutely perfect for autumn. By popular demand, I return with even MORE autumny recommendations, and this time, there might even be spell-checking. (Looking at you, “Silence of the Lamps”) (I won’t edit that, because that’s just funny.)

Thank you for reading the previous one, and I hope you’ll enjoy this one too! We have some GREAT ones coming up. I hope! Maybe! But what I believe will really perfect this second list, is the fact, that autumn is close to being at its peak right now, with it being October! Woohoo!

Pumpkins, Jack’o’lanterns, spooky movies, Halloween, tricks and treats, fog, rain, candles lit in the dark, delicious tea, and scarves, because the chill is back in the air! Amazing! The aesthetics are to die for!

I’m on a small break from university, and have actually been having some allowed free time, to do autumny stuff. By this I mean I can do autumny stuff with my family and friends, and not feel guilty, because this time I’m not procrastinating. Well, I’m a little behind on some books, but it’s not that bad. You’re allowed free time on breaks! They’re supposed to be mostly free time, anyone knows that. I refuse to be a good student on breaks!

This free time means that I have actually had time to watch some of these movies and tv-shows myself, and so I can feel a little better about recommending most of them, since I’ve actually seen them. Hehe. Still. I do have other, boring stuff to do, like reading for uni, emptying the dishwasher, cooking, vacuuming, etc., so there will be some of these I’m including, I have not watched, and those will be, again, backed by the power of optimism. Yay! Anyway! You’ve read enough not-halloween recommendationing, and is getting bored - Let’s get to it! (Also, these are still in random order, and I will put warnings at the end, again <3)

Coraline

I remember watching Coraline when it came out in theaters, years ago. I also remember that we had a little closet-thing in the wall, small and closed-up, but still very similar to the one she goes into, in the movie. Needless to say, this was not a favorite for little Julie, who was absolutely scared shit-less by this movie. I remember button-eyes, decaying puppets, and a very scary mom. Now, I have not watched the full movie since, but from bits and pieces through the years, I can wholeheartedly recommend this one. It’s stop-motion, the details are incredible, and wow, this movie is great. If you, like me, are no longer 9 years old, watch it! It’s wonderful, and surprisingly, very feel-good in the family aspect. A great movie!

An adventurous 11-year-old girl finds another world that is a strangely idealized version of her frustrating home, but it has sinister secrets.

//Warning: do not watch this, if you are around nine years old. It will absolutely traumatize you about small closets in old houses. If you are not nine years old, I think you’re good! Just the right amount of spookyness, I believe!

Sense and Sensibility

I watched this with a good friend in february, I think. So I’m not sure why I think this has to go on an autumny list, but I stand by it! Maybe it’s the beige and brown, beautiful clothing, the many shots of nature, and the relationships between these characters, that fits very well with the cold and chilling air, we find ourselves in, here in lovely October. I don’t know. Food for thought. But this is a great movie, and I really think you should try watching it under a blanket, with tea and a good friend. We didn’t know the story before we saw it, and it had us guessing! And there is a part my other friend Sif told me, always makes her dad cry, and I think that should be taken as a compliment to this movie! It’s great! Love, sisters, crisis and period drama (and great clothes), this movie has it all! (also - Emma Thompson!)

Rich Mr. Dashwood dies, leaving his second wife and her three daughters poor by the rules of inheritance. The two eldest daughters are the title opposites.

Over the Garden Wall (animated series)

Well, this one, I’ve been dreading to add to my list. Now, you must not misunderstand, it’s not because I don’t like it. It’s because this series is so great, so weird, so beautifully drawn and made, that I’m afraid I could write a whole blog post dedicated only to Otgw, and still not feel that I have done it justice. It's just so good. It’s like the someone just decided one day, to make a series, that absolutely, perfectly encompasses autumn and halloween, and then did just that. The storyline is good, the art is good, the soundtrack is good. God, the soundtrack. I’ve also made sure to listen to this show’s soundtrack, since we left summer behind, and it’s just so good. There’s a reason tumblr went wild, when this show was first released. But since this is an AUTUMNY list, let me focus on those aspects. Big dark woods, scary noises in the dark, red and golden leaves, fantastical beings - this show has it all, and trust me, it WILL get you in the mood for autumn. I almost started puking leaves and pumpkins when I watched this with my friends, that’s how pumped it got me. This show has a special place in my heart, and if you promise not to tell all the other movies and shows on the list, I’ll admit something: this might be a favorite of mine. Maybe THE autumny favorite.

Warning: May be a little spooky, but I have it on good authority from a friend that is a true scaredy-cat, with nerves of whipped cream, that’s it’s fine. She could handle it, watches it every year, and she’s fine. Good levels of scary.

Corpse Bride

Believe it or not, that same scaredy-cat of a friend, I just mentioned, actually instructed a musical, based on this story. Is she a horror-fan or not? I have no idea, but her show was so well-done, that it actually made me like this movie a bit better. I have seen it before, but she convinced me, by telling me the original story behind this movie, that it’s pretty great. And by association, this movie became pretty great, too. It’s been some years since I saw this, but it’s a pretty good halloween movie, I think. Dead people tormenting the living. Classic autumn stuff, I would say. And it’s pretty well-made, I think, stop-motion again! I like the aesthetic of a corpse bride, though you have to admit the actual thing is pretty sad. The premise is haunting and scary, but it’s more morose, melancholic and depressing, I think. Poor Emily. But a good movie! Sorry, maybe that wasn’t a very enticing description, but I promise, it will do you more good than bad, to watch it. And then go google the original story, the movie is based on!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Yeah, I’m not sure why this has to go on my Autumny List either, sorry. It just has to. I know it takes place over an entire year, but in my head, it jut fits very well with the whole magic, supernatural, foggy halloween times we find ourselves in. I mean, look at the cover! Maybe it’s the iconic scene, right before the troll is discovered in the girls’ bathroom (sorry, spoiler), with the floating jack’o’lanterns, and tables almost crashing undet the weight of candy and cakes, that convinced my brain, that this is a halloween movie. I don’t know. Just trust me on this, and watch the first Harry Potter movie. It’s pretty good.

Little Women (Important: 2019 edition)

Alright girls, we’re hopping genres again! This is another period-drama (sort of), about sisters, and wow, I cried to this. I bawled, I sobbed, I choked on snot, and was a little inconsolable, when I watched it with friends, at the cinema. One of the best experiences this year, and one of the greatest movies I have watched in a long time. I love everything about this movie: the family-bonds, the clothing, the many nature-shots, the developments of characters, (almost) all the characters, and just, wow. No good way to end that sentence, because I want to just keep describing all the good parts of this movie, because it's everything. It’s amazing, and yes, i’m exaggerating, but I can’t help it. I forgot to eat my popcorn or drink my water, when we watched this, that’s how mesmerized I was by this movie. I love Jo, I think I can empathize a lot with her, and if I could talk to her, if she was real, I would thank her for telling her story. This movie is great, you should watch it, because it makes you feel so warm inside.

Alien

I watched this for the first time last year, when I decided I was going to watch the classic older horror movies, and not freak the fuck out. I mostly succeed. And this movie was a joy to watch. That’s maybe weird to say about an alien horror movie, but wow I just love Sigourney Weaver, and the aesthetics of this movie. The story is thrilling, and I really did not like most of the characters, I thought they were hysteric and annoying, but I still rooted for them. It’s a different kind of horror movie, that’s for sure! But when I watched it, I totally understood why it has become such a classic.

After a space merchant vessel receives an unknown transmission as a distress call, one of the crew is attacked by a mysterious life form and they soon realize that its life cycle has merely begun.

Edward Scissorhands

Haven’t seen this one! I want to, though. I think I’ve seen one scene, where this man accidentally pokes a water-bed, and younger me felt that was a very tragic thing, on more levels. Johnny Depp yet again, so it has to be good, right? I know this poor guy, Edward, has it rough, and was given some really not that practical hands. Man, he looks sad, huh? So maybe more sad than scary, yet again. Dont know! But I really do want to watch it. Winona Ryder is in this, too, so really, it’s a no-brainer!

An artificial man, who was incompletely constructed and has scissors for hands, leads a solitary life. Then one day, a suburban lady meets him and introduces him to her world.

Pride + Prejudice + Zombies

I mean, why the hell not - right? I love Jane Austen. I love Pride and Prejudice. And I really like halloween, so OF COURSE, I’m including this one. I’ve seen it, too. My friend Malin and I watched it a couple of years ago, and yeah, it’s good. It’s not high cinema, no, but I don’t need that. It was a fun, weird twist, and sometimes, that’s all you need. There is a very interesting scene with a corset, that was NOT in the book, and I think it really added something to this story. And Lily James. Whew. Great movie. Great for autumn. I will be watching this one again.

The Haunting of Hill House

I first watched this series when i came out some time ago. I never finished it, I don’t think my heart was in it, but by no fault of the show. Now, that the same creator has made another show, which my mom and I are hooked by, and almost through, I think I’ll be returning to this one - it deserves another chance! A great old house, ghosts, family secrets and INCREDIBLE aesthetics, mean there must be something here! Also, I think it’s based on a novel by Shirley Jackson, and it’s supposed to a classic horror novel, and Stephen King tweeted that he liked it, so yeah, it’s promising! The series I’m watching with my mom is spooky, but tumblr says the Haunting of Hill House is supposed to be much more spooky, terrifying, even, and I really want to find out if that’s true!

Psycho

Another old classic! Woo! Have not watched, but really, I feel like that’s almost a crime by now. I HAVE to watch it. Soon, I’m planning to. Sadly, It’s old, and I grew up with the internet, so I’ve been spoiled oh so dreadfully, and knows all the bloody details and plottwists of this oldie but goldie. But I still want to watch it! It must be a classic for a reason - right? Also, I’ve never seen the full version of the famous shower scene, and that’s just embarrassing. Shame on me.

Hannibal (the TV series)

It’s gross, it’s scary, it’s aesthetic, there is a danish elegant man eating people in snowy Baltimore, and you really shouldn’t pay him to be your psychiatrist. Hannibal! I first watched this as a young, edgy teenager, and all the blood and gore didn't get to me at all - I just enjoyed the cat-and-mouse game between Will Graham, our main character, very mentally unstable, and a dog-lover, and Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a renowned psychiatrist, elegant, high-society - and also, he talks like a mixture of the bible and an old greek sonet. What I'm trying to get at is that this show is weird. Good weird. But also, now no longer an edgy teenager myself, it’s really gross. A man’s leg is cut off and served to himself. That’s gross. I didn’t like that, and I definitely covered my eyes. Other than that, it’s a very vivid show, with great focus on presentation and symbolism. I would love for someone to analyse each episode, because there's so much attention to detail. It’s honestly impressive. And after having watched many, many shows about crime and murders, I must say, this show has THE most buckwild, creative, never seen before ways of killing people. How the hell do you come up with a murderer using people’s different skin colors to make a mural? I don’t know. It’s disgusting, but man is it different. I’m halfway through season two, and there is a lot to unpack! Also, have to mention, very homoerotic - that’s a plus. Don’t think I could’ve stomached all the blood, otherwise. I hate blood, and wow is there blood in this show.

The Haunting of Bly Manor

Ooh boy. Ooooh boy. This series is very good. VERY good. I’m watching it with my mom right now, I think we’re at episode 7, and wow are we hooked. It’s spooky, it’s haunting, it’s thrilling, it’s mysterious, and wow is it scary. We both agreed to go together, the first night we watched this, and our dog had to be taken out on his night-walk. She didn’t want to go alone, and i didn’t want to stay back at the house, alone. So we went together, and I was so freaked out that I nearly peed my pants, when some kids screamed in our neighborhood. It’s so very much what I want a ghost-story to be, but it’s also a lot more, and much greater for it. I love all the characters, they’re all so well-rounded, and most of them are good. The big manor is spooky, and the woods surrounding it are foggy and dark, and yes, this is really a great series for autumn and halloween. It’s the second series made by Mike Flanagan. There are some similarities between the two shows, and surprisingly, some of the same actors! I think that’s very interesting, and it also made me very confused, as I watched the first episodes of the Haunting of Bly Manor, and could not, for the life of me, figure out where the hell I had seen these people before. It made it even more eerie in a way, and I appreciate that. I love this show, and I think I’ll be very sad when we’re through with it. I guess the natural thing to do, will be to follow up with Flanagan’s previous horror series, The Haunting of Hill House! Also, there’s lesbians in this one. Very nice. I appreciate that. Also, surprisingly - I love the children! They’re so cool and brave, and it would be very nice if especially Flora could go with me, the next time I’m going to a haunted house. Such a badass.

Warning: It’s spooky. It’s the perfect halloween series, so of course it’s very spooky! This gif I chose is spooky, and I promise the show itself is worse. But if you can handle dead people creepily staring in the background, and maybe has someone to watch it with, I think you’ll be fine!

So predictably for the Ultimate Ship Meme thing I want to know ALL your TImKon headcanons. I'm especially looking forward to the domestic stuff~

How quickly did/will they fall in love? - So my headcanon for Tim is literal as in I literally consider him to be in love with Kon in preboot canon. I don't see that for Kon so I'm open to a lot of interpretations! But like, don't argue with me I'm passionate about my headcanons. I think Tim fell in love gradually without realizing it. At first he was kind of constantly exasperated by Kon even as they became friends, then it became exasperation he couldn't live without as his...I want to say respect but I'm not sure if it's the right word - for Kon grew. Kon became his very best friend first, and that's when the romantic feelings started unnoticed. I'd say he's solidly in love by the time Kon finds out about his Luthor heritage, though Tim definitely doesn't notice. He might start to realize his feelings after Kon died, but it's also a good time to tamp them down and compartmentalize because Kon is dead and why deal with those feelings now. When Kon comes back though... the feelings are going to leak their way out eventually, Tim can't suppress them forever though he might try. He might try his best not to acknowledge them at all or heck, recognize them and then cram them back down. But he's not going to fall out of love with Kon, so good luck with that. Kon I think was vaguely attracted to everyone he met for a while since he was basically a roiling mass of teenage hormones, so he probably thought Robin was hot and annoying. That faded as he re-categorized Tim from "annoying but smoochable" to "friend" but I think that category could easily swing to "best friend but smoochable".

How was their first kiss? - I think it started out slowly and easily, light kisses and laughter and it was so easy as they fit together, and it wasn't long before they were just lost in each other.

Wedding:

Who proposed? - Tim Who is the best man/men? - Bart of course! Possibly they both share Bart but depending on if Tim has a good relationship with Dick again I think Tim would want him as his best man. Who is the bride’s maid(s)? - I think if they have a big wedding party they might get Steph, Cass, or Kara in there. Who did the most planning? - For their public wedding, the wedding planner with Tim peering over his shoulder. It's got to be a nightmare working for Tim in nervous perfectionist mode. Who stressed the most? - Tim How fancy was the ceremony? - Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big. I think they had two weddings - a simple ceremony with family and close friends only, and then later (possibly much later) a large public ceremony for like all of Gotham, since Tim is a public figure. Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? - Supervillains?

Who is on top? - Kon They switch. Who is the one to instigate things? - Kon more often because he doesn't get as distracted by casework. If it's Kon who's pregnant, two or three. How many children will they adopt? - Adoption seems the way to go! I like to imagine them ending up with at least two children, probably acquired in a superhero way. Probably more if they get them when they're older. Who gets stuck with the most diapers? - Kon because Tim somehow disappears when they get stinky. Who is the stricter parent? - Tim. He remembers what he got up to as an unsupervised child and tends to overcorrect, luckily Kon is there to buffer him. Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? - Honestly they probably end up encouraging it, though Tim tries to seem like he disapproves. Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? - Kon, he's got the whole morning routine down because Tim is either still asleep or a zombie who can only seek out coffee. Who is the more loved parent? - They're both good parents, their children love them both. Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? Kon. Tim only shows up when he needs to threaten/bribe the school board. Who cried the most at graduation? - Kon Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? - Tim, but they're probably more scared of what Tim will say when he comes to get them than they are of the law.

Cooking:

Who does the most cooking? - Kon! He eventually learned how to cook from Ma. Tim is perfectly capable of following a recipe, he just tends to get distracted during the cooking part because there are at least 10 things he could get done while waiting for that food to brown so Kon had to ban him from cooking after the third time he had to put out the stove with his freezing breath. Who is the most picky in their food choice? - Tim. He developed some control issues around his diet after everything but he finally relaxes after a while. Who does the grocery shopping? - Kon if he has to, but really thank god for grocery delivery. How often do they bake desserts? - Kon probably makes a pie weekly. Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? - Tim was on a salad and precisely measured nutrients kick for a while, but they both end up eating a relaxed balanced diet. Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? - Cooked? Kon. Actually gets them reservations just for fun? Tim. Who is more likely to suggest going out? - Neither, really. Once they move in together they would rather spend time together at home (with takeout). They do try to schedule date nights sometimes. Who is more likely to burn the house down accidentally while cooking? - Literally Tim.

Chores:

Who cleans the room? - They have to make a chore list. They both have a pretty high tolerance for clutter but Kon breaks first because when Tim is headfirst in a case he doesn’t care if he lives in a cave made of Red Bull cans. Who is really against chores? - Tim thinks it makes a lot more sense for Kon to clean everything because Kon can do it faster. Who cleans up after the pets? - If Kon wants a pet, Kon has to clean up after it, Tim says like he doesn't also want the pet. Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? - Tim Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? - Tim only becomes aware of mess when other people are coming over and then he freaks out cleaning. Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? - Kon, but it belongs to sugar daddy Tim.

Misc:

Who takes the longer showers/baths? - Tim, but sometimes it's because he's fallen asleep in there. Who takes the dog out for a walk? - If it's Krypto, Kon is the only one who /can/ take him for a real walk. When they get a regular dog they take turns and often both go. How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? - Kon hangs some stuff up for Christmas and Halloween. When they have children decorating and actually celebrating holidays becomes more of a thing. What are their goals for the relationship? - Kon does not think in those terms, Tim just has to commit to not fucking it up. Who is most likely to sleep till noon? - Tim Who plays the most pranks? - Kon because he realizes he can distract Tim from work with them and then distract him from being annoyed with sex.

Well, while I was in my AO3 profile, I realized how many bookmarks I have! So I've decided to make fic recommendation lists. [This list will have other parts, and I include fics with Kuro and Sven]

1- Black to Blue by PuppetMaster55

Lance, the undisputed (no longer, since he finally got the team to stop questioning his position like a month ago) leader of Voltron finds himself in the absolute strangest scenario: being the Blue Paladin.

Lance, still finding his place on team Voltron, wakes up to the weirdest world: one where he's the Black Paladin.

OR, I take a universe where Lance was always the Black Paladin and have him swap bodies with canon Lance, throwing both sets of teams for a trip.

Fuck, he was toying with him! Well, two could play that game!

And of course, because this was Lance’s life, Hunk had pushed him onto a treadmill with a mirror right in front, affording him an absolutely stunning view of the man walking through the door.

Had Lance loved till now? He was pretty sure that he had never even felt an emotion before seeing the beautiful male specimen reflected beside his face in the mirror.

Mᴏʙʏ-Dɪᴄᴋ — How long does it take you to finish a WIP? When does a WIP reach the point of no return?

Honestly it depends? I struggle with starting to write sometimes so a lot of the wait on my WIPs are from before I even really start on it! But for something like idk general headcanons? It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours. For a fic or longer type of writing it can take easily more an just a couple of hours. They usually take me at LEAST a few days to write. Tbh, the hardest thing for me to write are Love Letters.

As for ‘the point of no return’, usually this is at least 4-5 months of it sitting there. ESPECIALLY if it already has writing, bc I get annoyed/unhappy with my writing rather quickly after writing it, so normally at that point I just want to rewrite it. Etc etc, but overall it takes a few months for something to reach the point of no return.

Pᴇᴀᴄʜᴇs — Do you prefer One-Shots or Series better? Why?

I want to say series, because I enjoy writing in foreshadowing and seeing how I developed as I wrote it, but ultimately I’m going to go with One-Shots. They’re just easier to write, and people seem to enjoy them more. With one shots you don’t really have to write more than the one situation the characters are in, so you don’t have to write in the aftermath of whatever happens. If that makes sense?

Fᴀʜʀᴇɴʜᴇɪᴛ 451 — Give us 2 fun facts about yourself!

I plan on double or triple majoring when I go to college! I enjoy learning, and very much look forward to going to college/university! I also enjoy talking about school/college, though I think I get annoying about it sometimes so I don’t as much as I might otherwise lol.

I’m actually pretty superstitious! In the way that I believe in ghosts n stuff than anything tho, because of past experiences. I enjoy fake haunted houses but the idea of going somewhere actually haunted or somewhere considered haunted makes me very anxious. I get made fun of how anxious I get about that kind of stuff sometimes smh. I still love Halloween to bits tho!!

Tʜᴇ Pʀɪɴᴄᴇss Bʀɪᴅᴇ — How do you name your characters?

Usually I look into common/uncommon names from where they’re from or where their parents are from. I combine that process with their character and what I plan on doing with their character! But overall, I take what I think their parent(s) would name them and combine it with who they are as a character.

Tʜᴇ Oᴜᴛsɪᴅᴇʀs — How do you map out a story?

I start with where I want to end it! Then I decide where I should start writing the story. Beyond that, I let the characters move the story.

Aɴɪᴍᴀʟ Fᴀʀᴍ — Is the plot more important, or are the character?

The characters! If you don’t have good characters, the plot is normally going to be overlooked. If you have good characters, then people are likely to enjoy the story even if the plot isn’t the best thing. Plus, character analysis is fun >:3

Does this count as a writing update if I’m not actually doing any writing?

So... I know I’ve got a TON of WIPs I should finish. Some of them are even fics people are interested in reading.

But... I’m tired. I just came off of doing the back end maintenance of Sherlolly Halloween, which is both surprisingly easy to do on most days and a giant, frustrating time sink on the others. Not to mention I was also trying to write my own Halloween fics during that time frame. ( Because preparing in advance would have been the smart thing to do, but I didn’t because I am dumb... Pay attention, future self, the Winter fest is coming.) And some stressful personal stuff. And blah blah, more whinging I don’t need to get into.

Long story short. I’m tired and I’m pretty much just taking some time off to play “Lily’s Garden” and watch Shane Dawson’s current documentary on youtube and working on my Matt the Radar Technician Funko Pop mod.

But, eventually, I plan to return to working on my WIPs and I thought it might be nice to put my list out into the world in the hopes that I can hold myself accountable at some point. (Hahahahaha no)

Everything that Kills Me - three chapters left, current chapter is turning out to involve lots of stupid but probably necessary plot development. I’m maybe half way through it.

Untitled and unplanned Winter Fest fic - I got nothing on this one yet. Nada. Not even an inkling of a glimmer of a plot. But the 12 Days of Sherlolly is fast approaching and it would be nice if I had something to submit for it.

Boyfriend Material - I think I’m two chapters away from the end of this one?

All I Want for Christmas - last year’s Winter fest fic. Originally it was just supposed to be a two parter, and I’m really hoping I can keep it down to that. Especially since it was just supposed to be a PWP, but I had to go and put “feelings” into it.

A gift fic for Juldooz, with a title I’m not going to share yet - I’ve got a title and an extremely vague idea for a plot (unless I lost that post-it, in which case I’m gonna make some stuff up and hope for the best). Yay.

In the Blood - okay, I seriously am the world’s suckiest fest co-mod. This is my third(?) unfinished WIP that has been submitted for a fest that I run. This has several more chapters outlined, I just need to get around to writing them.

Universally Monstrous - I still need to write The Wolfman, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and The Bride of Frankenstein. Ideally, I will have these done and ready before next year’s Sherlolly Halloween. Wouldn’t that be nice? Being prepared for once?

Walls of Jericho - Yeah, we just pretend this Snape/Hermione HP fic doesn’t really exist anymore. I refuse - REFUSE - to admit defeat and say it’s abandoned; but I posted the first chapter in 2004, and my last update was chapter six in 2011. It was outlined to be a ten chapter fic. Do you have any idea how much a person’s writing style changes in 15 years? Let me put it this way, in 2016 I thought I’d pop in and do a quick re-read so I could finish that puppy up and stop feeling guilty about it. After the cringing finally stopped, I sat down and completely rewrote part one. I’ll have to do the same with the rest of the fic if I ever hope to finish it one day. It’s the white whale of my fic writing career.

10 FICTIONAL CHARACTERS

1. Harry Potter

Your obsession with Harry freakin' Potter is a timeless affair. You read the first book tucked into a corner on the a tour bus, musicians fiddling with their instruments all around you, but you were lost to them. You were too busy learning spells, playing Quidditch and fancying yourself Mrs Jessica Potter. Sure, a lot of your friends have outgrown their Harry Potter phase, but you don't think that'll ever happen to you. He was never just a character to you, he was a comfort when you were recovering from your illness and figuring out what life was going to be like without being able to hear things from now on. You lost quite a number of things after the meningitis hit, but you never lost Harry. He taught you how to be brave and true and a little bit sassy, and you're always going to love him.

2. Atticus Finch

Your father is a mechanic, not a lawyer. He wears sports jerseys instead of tweed suits. But he's still the closest thing to Atticus Finch that this world is going to get - in your eyes anyway. Your dad was the first one to introduce you to To Kill A Mockingbird. He panicked and shoved his own copy into your hands after you finished the fifth Harry Potter book and spent three straight hours wailing over Sirius. Of course, TKAM wasn't going to be something that necessarily cheered you up, but you were hooked from the get-go. Atticus taught you how to be just and fair. He taught you to think about what it would be like to walk a mile in someone else's shoes. He taught you valuable life lessons that you still carry today, and even though it would be impossible to hope that everyone in the world could be more like him, you could at lease try to channel all that energy yourself. You like to think that he taught you how to be a better person.

3. Mark Watney

Mark Watney taught you that space is dangerous and terrifying and that it has the potential to be the very death of you. He taught you that it's vast and empty and nothing but a challenge. And it only made you love it even more. When your father picked up on your space obsession, right after your solar system model won first prize at the middle school science fair, he gave you a copy of The Martian. In all honesty, he had no clue what it was about but the name hinted that he was on the right path. You devoured it whole. Or rather... you spent the full night yelling at your book whenever something traumatic happened and Michelle fully attempted to smother you with a literal pillow just to get you to shut up. Mark Watney made you fall in love with space even more, and he kickstarted your desire to work for NASA one day. When you feel like you're never going to make it, you just need to look to him for a kick up the ass.

4. Gilbert Blythe

Gilbert Blythe is the very first love of your life. You understand that there's a high chance you’re not his type, because when he tugs on Anne's pigtails and calls her 'carrots', she hits him over the head with a slate and it's love at first sight for him because of that. If Gilbert Blythe ever tugged on your hair to get your attention, then you probably would have just decided to marry him right then and there. Still, what's not to love about him? He's kind and he's funny and he's smart and he cares about school. Perhaps you would be relationship goals based solely on the fact that you're a nerd and he's a nerd. But you'll never get to test that theory out, which is a shame. In the meantime, Gilbert is setting the standards for all other men and he's raised the bar to a whole other level.

5. Paddington Bear

Paddington Bear is the reason you demanded a duffle coat and red wellies at the age of six. He's the reason you wanted to travel to Darkest Peru whenever a family vacation was brought up. And he's the reason that you still unironically enjoy a marmalade sandwich, even to this day. Plus, he's cuddly and kind and the exact friend you think anyone should have. Honestly, you'd love to be someone's answer to Paddington Bear.

6. Matt Saracen

You're never going to be a football player and, to be quite honest, you never really want to be. You're tiny and any tackle would crush you in an instant. Soccer, on the other hand, is different. And then, of course, there's cheerleading. Matt Saracen was never a cheerleader, although you have total faith in him and believe that he could be anything he wanted to be. He was a football player though, and had always been desperate to be one, despite shortcomings like money and being one of the younger kids on the team. You relate to that. Friday Night Lights taught you all about teamwork. You love being part of a group like that, whether that be the girls soccer team or the cheerleading squad. It's what you miss most about high school, that sense of belonging. You love your family but Michelle likes to make your life a living hell, Brendan can only defend you so much and Gabby has her head in the clouds half the time. Matt taught you that sometimes it's okay to feel way more at home when you're part of a team.

7. Leslie Knope

She likes waffles, she likes fairness and she loves her friends. Leslie Knope is exactly the kind of woman that you want to grow up to be. Maybe you don't have a future in politics, but that's okay! You can still embody her in all the ways that are important. You're a feminist, you would happily arrange a wedding ceremony for two gay penguins and you would absolutely die for Michelle Obama. Leslie Knope is that caring and goofy friend that you want to be, and while you're not as savvy as her or as good with words, and you absolutely do not have her knack for public speaking, you wake up every morning and tell yourself that you're going to be a Pawnee Goddess that day.

8. Clint Barton

You watch the Avengers and you fall in love with superheroes. Your dad seems bolstered by this since he's been trying to get you to read comics for years now, and this eventually persuades you. You discover that you're a die-hard Captain America fan and there are several failed attempts to write a popular Steve/Bucky story when you foray into fanfiction, only to realise you're nowhere near as gifted a writer as you think you are. But you still love this world and these characters and it's like a blanket gets wrapped around you when you find out Clint Barton is actually deaf in the comics. Just like you. You devour Hawkguy, trawl the internet for all the meta discourse and fanfiction you can find and you even dress up as Kate Bishop one Halloween. Clint Barton teaches you that you can have a disability and still be a superhero.

9. Luke Skywalker

There was no way that you were making it through your childhood without discovering Luke. And Leia and Han and Chewie. But Luke was the one that stuck with you most and your dad was very proud of you for that. He's a hero, but not the typical rough-and-tough, 'needs a damsel in distress to save' sort of hero. He teaches you that you can save the galaxy and still be loyal and compassionate and have a good heart. You don't need to be jaded to be a hero, and it's okay to show emotion. And sometimes it's okay to be a little bit of a drama queen as well. You appreciate that last one.

10. Buttercup

The Princess Bride is one of the few movies that you and Michelle actually agree on. Or rather, you like all movies and she hates anything that you like. But even Michelle can't say no to The Princess Bride. Buttercup is a character who undergoes development, giving you hope that maybe one day Michelle will also go through that same growth and decides that she wants you to be her sister. Perhaps it's a pipe dream but you never give up hope. Buttercup also teaches you that you can fall hard and fast for someone who says 'as you wish' to your every command and like, you get that. You're pretty sure that you'd die on the spot should anyone say that to you.

8 FACTS ABOUT SPACE

1. Halleys Comet won’t orbit past earth again until 2061

JESS' INPUT: Okay, so here's another fun fact about Halleys Comet! At Disney's Magic Kingdom, Main Street USA is connected to Tomorrowland by one thing and one thing only. Main Street's design is based on the year 1910, and Tomorrowland's design is based on the year 1986. What do those two years have in common? That was when Halleys Comet orbited past Earth! ... That's more of a Disney World fact, but pretty cool all the same, huh?

2. A full NASA spacesuit costs $12,000,000.

JESS' INPUT: 12 million! That's so much money, holy smokes. Honestly, imagine going around wearing an outfit that cost 12 million dollars. Wouldn't be me! I'm getting anxiety just thinking about it.

3. There may be a planet made out of diamonds.

JESS' INPUT: Okay, so this planet is like, 40 lightyears away and it's eight times the size of earth. Researchers think it could be made of graphite and diamonds and everyone is like 'wow, that's cool!' And okay. yeah, I get it. Diamond planet. That's super cool. But you know what isn't cool? That episode of Doctor Who where they went to the diamond planet and that one woman got possessed. That was the opposite of cool.

4. The footprints on the moon will be there for 100 million years.

JESS' INPUT: There's no atmosphere on the moon so the footprints there can't be eroded by wind or anything like that. So those footprints are going to be there for practically forever. Imagine being Buzz and Neil and being able to flex like that. I went to the grocery store the other day, accidentally dropped a jar of Marmite and then stood in it - so my footprint was there because the cashier couldn't handle the Marmite-y smell for long enough to clean it up and apparently I wasn't allowed to help for 'health and safety'. So at least my footprint is going to be imprinted somewhere. Just nowhere that's as cool as the moon.

5. The moon was once a piece of the earth.

JESS' INPUT: People think that there was some sort of collision which made a part of earth break off. They say it was an early protoplanet of Mars called Theia. Anyway, Theia made the moon break away from Earth but it stayed around to orbit us because of the Earth's gravitational pull. Don't you love the moon? She's a lesbian queen! Hey, maybe Theia had a crush on her or something and just went about it like, the wrong way.

6. There is floating water in space.

JESS' INPUT: Uh huh! So there's this massive water vapour cloud that astronauts found and it holds - oh my gosh, get reads for this - it holds 140 trillion times the mass of Earth's oceans. My head is honestly spinning just thinking about it. 140 trillion! That's crazy!

7. There is a volcano on Mars three times the size of Everest.

JESS' INPUT: Yep, her name is Olympus Mons and I would personally like to know why she didn't have a starring role in The Martian. Maybe it's because she would have easily outshined Matt Damon. Sorry, Matt.

8. In 3.75 billion years, the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxies will collide.

JESS' INPUT: I'll be honest, my brain doesn't even know where to begin processing this. I can't... compute. What is this... I can't... Sorry, I'm shutting down. Jess out!

7. Hot & Spicy Cinnamon Oreos. - you can pretend you can handle spicy food by eating one of these. and doesn't that make you look cultured, huh? still... it's a weird mix of flavours. 5/10. 6. Peeps Oreos. - a solid 7/10 for taste... but you still feel guilty about eating a fluffy marshmallow chicken, hence the low ranking. 5. Oreo Mini. - all the 10/10 taste of a regular oreo but they're tiny so it's very easy to hide them when you want to sneakily eat them in class! a solid 12/10 for being so gosh darn convenient. 4. Golden Oreos. - look, you were brought up in ireland and that means that sometimes you just really, really want a custard cream, okay? this is america's answer to that and it comes in a delicious, compact oreo form. *chef's kiss* exquisite. 8.5/10 3. Mint Oreos. - honestly, it's so easy to feel halfway to sophisticated when you eat one of these. a solid 9/10. 2. Red Velvet Oreos. - CREAM CHEESE IS THE PEOPLE'S CHEESE!!! 10/10!!!!!! 1. Cinnamon Bun Oreos. - you nearly cried when you tasted these for the first time. the sun was shining. obama was president. your skin was clear, your crops were growing. the promise of tomorrow was as bright and warm as the feeling in your chest when that cinnamon-y biscuit-y goodness first met your tastebuds. you could write an essay on cinnamon bun oreos. 100000/10.

6 FAMILY MEMBERS

1. Jensen Greenfeld

Your dad is probably your favourite person in the world. You'd do anything for him - including deferring your college acceptance to keep an eye on him, because that's what family does. He's your rock, your best friend, and he's the most giving person you've ever met in your life. He and your mum met in university when he studied abroad for a year and they were instantly best friends, keeping in touch long after they'd graduated and your dad moved back home. He knew your mum always wanted a kid and so he gave her you. It's unconventional, you know that, and most people raised their eyebrows at him helping another woman conceive in such a short time after his wife passed away, but that's the kind of person your dad is. Generosity helped him through his grief. How could anyone criticise that? He taught you how to ride a bike, change a leaky exhaust and adopted Comet for you so you wouldn't feel so lonely when you moved to New York to be with him. When he ended up in hospital, you were beside yourself. But not because you had to stay with him now instead of going to college like you'd planned. You could never begrudge him that, not when so much of his own life has been dedicated to making sure you were happy.

2. Magda McTaggert

Your mum has never had the easiest life. Disowned by her parents after she came out to them, she had to make her own way in the world. That's something you've never been able to relate to, because she made sure that you always had people who loved you. When you were sick as a kid, she stayed up with you every night, barely getting any sleep herself. She was your champion when you began to learn sign language, and she held your hand when the doctors first began talking about your cochlear implants. You miss her when she's in Ireland and you're in America, but she's only ever a Skype call away.

3. Kinsey McTaggert

Technically, Kinsey is your step-mother. But you rarely refer to her as that. She's your ma. She's been in your life since you were three-years-old so keeping her at arms-length with a 'step' term doesn't feel right to you when she's just as much your family as your mum and dad are. Sure, you'll call her by your first name but that's because Kinsey is so terrifyingly, inexplicably, astronomically cool. She's been managing bands for her whole life, she has pink hair and she let you come on tour when you were younger and being homeschooled. Your fondest memories are the tour bus with your mum and Kinsey and whatever up and coming rockers had adopted you as their little sister. Kinsey is the reason you felt alright leaving your mum behind to start school in America. You know she's in safe hands with her wife.

4. Michelle Greenfeld

Michelle has pretty much hated you since the day you were born. Perhaps 'hate' is a strong word, but she highly dislikes you and never let you forget the fact that you're only her half-sister. In some ways, you get it. You came into the family shortly after her mum had died. Her dad had a kid with another woman and, even though there were absolutely no romantic feelings involved, it still must have felt like a kick in the teeth. You try your best to be accommodating of her feelings because you know she's not all bad. The ways she treats Brendan and especially Gabby is proof of that. She can be the perfect big sister - unfortunately, just not to you.

5. Brendan Greenfeld

Brendan likes you though, and you're so happy about that. Brendan is exactly what you want in a big brother. He's protective and funny and taught you all the cheats for his video games, so you're basically unstoppable when it comes to Mario Kart now. He was also the one that told Gabby to shut up when she saw you for the first time after you lost your hearing. He took learning sign language in his stride and always makes sure there's room for you to sit at movie night. Sometimes you worry that, if it ever came down to it, he'd still pick Michelle over you - full sibling loyalty and all. But maybe that's doing Brendan an injustice, because he's never been anything other than the perfect big brother to you.

6. Gabby Greenfeld

Gabby is a sweetheart. She might be a little flaky at times and come out with mildly offensive things, but you know that she means well. Michelle is her favourite but she loves you as well, even if she often turns her nose up at your love for scrunchies and denim jackets. She'd rather get you to wear something sparkly and show-y and while you'll never say no to glitter, you don't think that Gabby's closet is quite for you. In fact, you're pretty sure only she can pull it off. Gabby is wild and free and doesn't care what anyone thinks of her. She's loving and loud and you want to make sure that you get to keep her around forever.

memory one

You blush when Tor lets out a low whistle. "Some talent you've got there, Little J," he says. That makes you blush even more. Tor is just so nice. And has a handsome face. Kinsey says you're far too young to like boys yet and that you're far too smart to like someone like Tor. She says he goes through girls like a revolving door and you're not sure what that means, but you like the attention from him anyway. "I was just messing around," you smile, your fingers trailing over the keys again. He tips back his head and laughs. "Well, mess around anymore and I might be out of a job. Are you trying to upstage me?" Tor teases. Grinning, you shake your head and Serge wanders over. Normally, he's so tall and silent and sort of intimidating but his smile is warm when he reaches over to ruffle your hair. "Say the word and I'll kick Tor to the curb in an instant, Jess," he promises solemnly. You know that they're just joking, but it's nice to feel that sort of validation. Especially when you're a little kid and they're rockstars. That's why music is so special, it brings everyone together, even Irish Harry Potter enthusiasts and charming keyboardists with pretty eyes.

The headache has cleared up but you still feel groggy and confused and so you fall back asleep again, promising yourself that you'll ask after your mum when you wake up again. Because maybe then you'll be able to hear her. There's no such luck when you come to again. Everything is silent and it's too weird to even begin describing. You're confused at first but your mum's tears, your dad's shell-shocked expression and the grim line set around Kinsey's mouth helps you to put the pieces together. There's a kind looking doctor who's writing something on a notepad for you, and you already know what it's going to say before he places it in your lap. You've worked it out. You're deaf. It's as if years fall away from you at that moment. It's hard to reconcile the news with everything you know about yourself. Your whole childhood has been music and now what? That's gone away and you're just meant to be okay with it? How is that fair? With shaking hands, you take the pen from the doctor and write a reply. As soon as your mum reads it, she starts crying again but your dad finds it in himself to smile and he reaches over to squeeze your knee through the hospital bedsheets. He still has that piece of paper which is stupidly sentimental of him and you love him for it. It read: Okay. What's next?

At first, you were excited. After years of homeschooling, you're finally going to a proper high school and you get to see your dad every day. What's not to love about all of that? However, now that you're in New York, the nerves have started to settle in. What if no one wants to be your friend? What if the kids at school are weird about the deaf thing? What if they try and touch your implant? What if they don't let you join the soccer team even though Kinsey bought you new cleats specifically for that? Most of all, what if Michelle tries to smother you in your sleep? Your dad laughs when you voice that one aloud. "Don't you think you're being a little bit dramatic?" he asks you, fondly smoothing down your hair. You laugh along with him but you aren't so sure. "Jess? Jess, are you alright?" At first, you can't even reply. You're too speechless. With shaking hands, you present him with the letter - your CalTech acceptance letter. Your dad cheers at once and he scoops you up into a hug and you think that you could just die of happiness right then and there. You're going to be studying aeronautical engineering. All of the hard work, the late night physics reading, the dedication to science club, the hours spent in your dad's garage understanding engines, the grease and oil covering your hands and your hair and your face. It was all worth it. And now it's one step closer to NASA.

A heart attack. Your dad isn't even old, and as far as you know he's always had a clean bill of health so what's changed. You stay silent all the way to the hospital and Brendan lets you. When you arrive, Gabby hugs you and even Michelle manages a watery smile your way. Then all four of you are allowed into see him. He's lying in bed, tubes attached to him, but he's sitting upright and he smiles at you, his kids, even if he does look sleepy. Then he cracks some sort of joke and hell if you can remember what it is. But that's what makes you cry. The idea of college goes flying right out the window. He argues with you, naturally. So you lie and tell him you were never that sure about it anyway. He doesn't believe you at first because that career path has been the only thing you've ever been sure about since you were 11-years-old. Maybe you're a good actress because eventually he relents and lets you stay with him. Or maybe, deep down, he's scared to be on his own now too.

He thought a week working alongside him would help you get to grips with things and prepare you for college. You kept working there for three years. You loved it so much.
