So let me get this straight:

Hollow knight is about the journey of a small creature possessing the corpse of a god's discarded child, and the character arc that unfolds as they realize they're more than the path they were set to take, eventually defeating the corruption instead of merely postponing inevitable destruction.

Rain world is about the journeys and experiences of many small creatures sent by a bunch of gossiping computers, and the efforts to help stop the destruction caused by a corrupted god that unfolds over hundreds of years, all to postpone his inevitable death.

I think the two most obvious foils for Ludinus Da'leth across all of Critical Role are Essek and Keyleth, which is both fascinating given how different those two characters are from each other (Essek being a foil in terms of isolation, single-mindedness, harm in the name of ambition, knowledge, and other such wizard themes; Keyleth being a foil in terms of people who have lost something at a young age to the gods and bear resentment for it, political leadership, belief that the world belongs to mortalkind, and longevity) but also it's extremely funny that they both are the partners of Liam's character.

-it's the pause in the first gif, the look in the second gif, it's the way that God glances up at Diew's eyes to gauge if this is okay, if Diew is comfortable, if Diew is enjoying the kiss and the physical contact, it's the way he leaves space in between the kisses and leans back just a tiny bit in the third gif to make sure that Diew is actively choosing to continue kissing him

i feel like they meep making bruce a bad father because they keep hiring writers who don't know him like at all nor the core values of someone with a good heart. like yeah humans make mistakes, but you know what heroes that people should look up to don't do?? beat their children, harm their children, belittle their children, etc etc. i think batman's most valuable trait should be the gentleness in which he treats children, especially his own. give me a Bruce who is so nervous about his kids doing anything that his flaw is him being overprotective, not *abusive.* because an abusive Batman is not Batman, and he's not a hero. if he is written as an abusive person, then he is no longer written as a hero. they can't have it both ways!!

Lex was able to distract the teen with a different documentary in the living room of his Penthouse. Said teen, however, made it loudly known that some of the information they were using was false, stupid, and downright biased. Granted, Lex was not paying attention when selecting the first documentary on the list. Apparently, it was a supernatural one called ‘All but Paranormal’ or something of the like. From the shouting, Lex could gather that they were able to interview Zatanna and Dr. Fate, Phantom took great exception to whatever Dr. Fate had to say about Ghost, Demons, and other supernatural creatures. Lex did bark a laugh at Phantom's remark of “Fate's biased view is just as blatant as that glaring beacon of a head!” and “If Fate is a Doctor, then I fear for the intellectual competency of the rest of the world! This means you too, Mr. Luthor!” Lex simply ignored the last part.

Oddly enough, even with the obnoxious commentary from Phantom and the absolute frustration of his magically inclined contacts ignoring him, it was not as tiring as he thought it would be.

“Phantom.” Lex called as he left his office. 

 “Yes, Boss?” Phantom paused the TV and turned to him with a small lopsided smile.

“Do you eat?” Lex asked. 

Phantom clearly did not expect the question with how his face displayed shock and confusion. “Uh, ya. I can eat human food. It's not needed, but it's nice to have. Why?”

“It is about time for dinner, I am thinking Foie Gras-” 

“Do all rich people eat such pretentious sounding food? Seriously, what is wrong with just burgers, burritos, and mac n’ cheese?” Phantom said with derision.

“Some people like to experience the finer things in life-” 

“When was the last time you enjoyed a “finer” thing that wasn't the direct cause of flaunting your power?” Phantom asked seriously. “Just one time.”

Lex…. He found himself at a loss. When Was the last time he actually enjoyed food for its taste alone. Most food prepared at the Galas were pretty cardboard at best. The high-end restaurants were better quality, but Lex only went to those as a power display, and even then, it was for a business deal or a ‘relaxed’ meeting of sorts. Even when he is home alone, he would order high value items so the staff wouldn't spread gossip about his ‘actual’ tates to the papers. The cooks he employed were fantastic at their jobs, the food was always flavorful and filling. 

But….

Probably the last time he actually enjoyed a meal was when his younger sister visited. She brought with her some greasy, cheesy mess of a burger wrapped in foil from a truck from the park across the street. She had laughed at his disgusted face and said “If it was good enough for Bruce Wayne and his kid to stand in line for, it's good enough for us!” 

That was about eight years ago.

After that meal, they had fought, and she stormed out. She has only contacted him through email for Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas. 

Lex ordered pizza from his cooks that night.

Tim and Duke: Finding Their Place

It’s hard to feel like you belong when you’re always waiting for someone to tell you that you don’t.

Duke Thomas had always been an outsider. Growing up in the streets, never quite fitting in anywhere, always waiting for the other shoe to drop, for someone to see him as a “replacement.” A filler for someone that wasn’t there anymore, or someone that was missing from the picture.

It wasn’t that the batfamily didn’t accept him—hell, they’d welcomed him with open arms. Dick and Barbara made him laugh, and even Damian, with his snarky attitude, had slowly started respecting him. But it still felt like there was something missing. Like he wasn’t really part of the family. Like he was just another vigilante working beside them, trying his best to live up to an impossible standard.

He didn’t know where to fit. Didn’t know if he could fit.

Tim Drake was the last person Duke expected to find himself bonding with.

Tim, the third Robin, the one who had earned the title by proving himself after a tragedy. Tim, who was always a little too serious, a little too reserved, a little too smart for his own good. But somehow, Duke found himself slipping into conversations with Tim, finding small moments of camaraderie between them. They didn’t talk much about their respective pasts—Tim’s was a messy minefield of trauma and loss, Duke’s was a life lived in survival mode, both of them figuring out how to be something more than what Gotham tried to make them.

One night, after a particularly long patrol, the two found themselves sitting in the batcave. Duke was lounging on the edge of a desk, his hoodie pulled tight over his head, the ever-present weight of exhaustion pulling at his shoulders. Tim, as usual, was hunched over a computer, eyes glued to a screen that made him look even younger than he was.

“So,” Duke said, breaking the silence. “Do you ever feel like… I dunno. Like you’re just here to fill in for someone else?”

Tim’s fingers stilled on the keyboard. He didn’t look up. “Yeah.”

Duke blinked. “What?”

Tim finally turned his gaze up from the screen, his eyes tired but sharp. There was something in his expression that caught Duke off guard. A knowing look. “I mean,” Tim continued, voice low, “I’ve spent most of my life being called ‘the replacement.’ It’s not easy, you know? No matter how much you try to prove yourself, it’s always there. The ghost of ‘who you’re supposed to be.’”

Duke’s stomach twisted at the words. “You feel like that too?”

Tim let out a dry chuckle. “Yeah. All the time. Even when I’m with the family. Even when I’m with you guys. There’s always that part of me that wonders if I’m really needed, or if I’m just… filling in a spot.”

There was a silence that hung between them, heavier than the usual quiet that enveloped the Batcave. It was raw. Honest. Two boys who had lived through too much, felt too many expectations, and had spent their lives trying to prove they were worthy of the lives they’d been thrust into.

Duke let out a breath. “That’s crazy, man. You’re Tim Drake. You’re not just some replacement.”

Tim didn’t smile, but there was a shift in his expression, a small, almost imperceptible shift that showed Duke he understood. He wasn’t looking for validation, not really. It was the kind of unspoken recognition that said, I see you, and you see me.

“You don’t feel it though, huh?” Duke asked, a little unsure. “Like you’re just… pretending to be part of this family? Like you’ll never really belong?”

Tim’s eyes softened, and for the first time that night, he looked at Duke—not as the new guy, not as the one still trying to prove himself—but as someone who got it. “Yeah. I feel that. All the time.”

Duke shifted in his seat, looking down at his hands. The weight of those words—Tim’s words—felt different when they came from someone who understood. Someone who knew exactly what it was like to feel like you were never quite enough.

That was the moment things changed. It wasn’t the kind of bonding moment that happened with grand gestures or speeches. It wasn’t about solving everything, or fixing the endless loop of self-doubt that both of them shared. It was just about knowing that they weren’t alone in their feelings. They both carried that weight, that fear of never truly fitting in, of always wondering if they were “the replacement” in a family that had already been through so much.

But for that moment, for just a little while, they didn’t have to explain themselves to anyone else. They didn’t need to pretend. They didn’t need to be anyone other than the two of them.

“You know,” Duke said quietly, breaking the silence again. “I’m glad you’re here.”

Tim gave him a look, a quiet acknowledgment, his eyes flicking back to the screen. “Yeah, i'm glad you're here too.”

They didn’t say much more after that, but it didn’t matter. In the quiet of the cave, with the weight of their shared thoughts hanging between them, Duke knew he wasn’t just another vigilante in Gotham. He was here, with Tim, with the family. And for the first time in a long time, he could almost believe it.

Maybe, just maybe, he could belong.

And Tim? Tim didn’t feel like a replacement anymore, either.
