(hmhmm maybe i'll change my mind after i read the schism i just need to jot this thought down before i do but—a pc who has met the bishop. a pc whose first purge is a success, who considers the experience exhilarating not for the sake of purging corruption, but only for the feeling of pride that comes from finally knowing what to do with a penitent's confession. a pc who does not believe in the temple's beliefs, really, and is only there to spend more time with a loved one. a pc whose faith was long gone. perhaps, at a time, they wished to believe in a higher diety, that a higher being exists and dictates the right from wrong. but the moment they step foot outside the orphanage—this belief shatters. their hope snuffed out by their experiences inside and outside the town. a pc who has given up on making things better for themself and for the people around them and instead opts to cling to the first person who expressed disdain in the town, hoping for them to be their ticket to get out of this hellhole of a place.

then came along the bishop. of their lengthy explanations about the taint of the dark elk. about the children of auriga. about their purpose as the few faithful who have discovered the truth. about jordan's purpose. about sydney's—or what was supposed to be theirs if not for pc who has corrupted them. the bishop thanks pc. they send them their gratitude for helping sydney pass the trial of anguish. pc couldn't have known the consequences of their actions, they said. they have already made it up to them, they said. but it doesn't diminish the guilt that begins to rise in their throat at their realization. pc is not a religious person, no, and they could barely give a shit of what the temple's scriptures say but—fuck. fuck. knowing they have just doomed the person—and the whole town, in extension—to the taint the bishop speaks of fills them with sickening guilt, pc can't consider the bishop's acts cruel when they have just made life worse for the people residing in this town. they now see the logic behind jordan's innocence being a shield. they now see the importance of the temple—of the bishop, of the few faithful clergies who dedicated their lives to purging sin out of this town. a pc who becomes overriden with guilt and a sense of responsibility that they begin to take their duties to the temple more seriously. tend the garden. clean the quarters. practice on their weapon of choice. attend mass if their schedule allows it. act as a confessor as much as they can and purge sin out of this town.

but despite it all, it's not enough. what they do is not enough. pc knows several other people whose souls must be cleansed yet have no desire to step foot into the temple.

so they resort to other methods. the end justifies the means, as they all say. corruption is spread through sexual acts. consequently, it is also released from the corrupted if done at the right place. however, not all people are willing. not all desire to be cleansed, not all wish to rid of the corruption that flourishes in this town. if this is the case, then surely pc should be allowed to other methods, right? if not to purge sinners of their sins, then at least to prevent corruption from spreading. the temple's teachings will definitely frown on pc's choice of action. the scriptures advise them to respect life, after all. to respect one another. but at least—at least, pc can protect the town in their own way to truly make it up for defiling the one person who could've been the beacon of hope and innocence they (would) need.

tldr; pc who's overriden with guilt of knowing the consequences of corrupting sydney in the long run that they (1) become more dedicated to serving the temple in their own way and (2) become someone who (secretly?) eliminates those tainted with auriga's corruption but with no intention of cleansing their souls via murder lol.)

i actually think daily about the fleury/binner almost-fight bc. okay so obviously the consensus among every nhl fan ever is that they should've been allowed to fight right lmao. but what i think most people do not realize is that allegedly the fight was planned. from before the game even started. because binner and fleury have a friend or trainer in common or something? and binner knew getting into a fight was on fleury's bucket list and he was like "sure man i'll get into it with you if there's an opportunity" and then he saw fleury skating down the ice and was like "oh yeah okay let's go" and then the refs wouldn't let them. like everyone looks at it as "oh just jordan binnington being jordan binnington and fleury was going to kill him about it" and there's definitely a LITTLE of that but they also both wanted to get into a fight just for the hell of it LMAO. i totally understand why fleury didn't share that with the reporters immediately afterwards (and neither did binner, this is from an interview he did that i assume most people have not seen) but it is funny to me that the surrounding context is less "binnington being insane and fleury being the saint that he is deciding to fight him in that moment" and more "binnington being completely willing from the start to get into a homoerotic goalie fight just bc fleury wants to"

When Geoff Johns rewrote Hal and Sinestro's first meeting in Rebirth, the latter mentions having trained several other Green Lanterns before Hal, which is just a fascinating concept to imagine.

Green Lantern: Rebirth

Stel is easily the most recognizable name among those that Sinestro lists here, and he still occasionally appears in the comics. You might also know Arkkis Chummuck if you're familiar with Corps history, though he's often mistaken for fellow Toomeyan Barreer Wot. Khen-To is the most obscure one, as his sole appearance is in Emerald Dawn.

Anyway, these three guys being established as Sinestro's students is a bit of a retcon, since it was never mentioned previously who else Sinestro had trained besides Hal. Which in itself is a retcon, because originally Sinestro had been expelled from the Corps before Hal ever joined. It wasn't until Emerald Dawn II that their current mentor/protege relationship was established, as well as the fact that Sinestro had recruited and trained other Green Lanterns.

History of retcons aside, I do wish that line about Sinestro's other students wasn't just a throwaway reference. The Corps is at its most interesting when the members have connections and relationships with each other. I get why no one, not even Johns himself, expanded on Arkkis and Khen, the former was killed off back in the 80s and the latter only existed to die while defending Oa in Emerald Dawn.

But Stel! He's still alive and kicking ass! There's still so much you could do with that connection to Sinestro (and Hal by proxy)!

Like, imagine what Sinestro's downfall might have looked like from Stel's perspective. He wasn't there like Hal was, he only learned of the atrocities committed on Korugar when the rest of the Corps also did. And upon learning of what his mentor did, he almost certainly went back through his memory banks, searching for any sign of whether Sinestro was always that corrupt or if he’d changed at some point. Trying to see if there was a point when Stel could have prevented all of this.

Or, if Stel isn’t the type of robot to dwell on the past, perhaps he seeks out Hal Jordan. Especially if Arkkis and Khen had already died by this point, who else could possibly understand what Sinestro's last student would be feeling?

One day, this human will become the greatest Green Lanterns, far eclipsing his traitorous teacher. But today, Hal is just a rookie who has seen his mentor put on trial and expelled. He is unsure of his place in the Corps, if there even is one for someone trained by such a treacherous monster. When a hulking android approaches him after the trial, Hal thinks that it's his turn to be thrown out. But to his surprise, the robot introduces himself as a fellow protege of Sinestro, and asks Hal how he's holding up.

This is one of the strangest conversations that Hal has ever had, speaking with an alien that looks like a sci-fi robot but addresses his doubts with understanding and compassion. Stel reassures Hal that the Corps will judge him on his own merits, rather than by the actions of Sinestro.

Even after Parallax and Emerald Twilight, Stel is willing to give Hal the benefit of the doubt- and is respected enough that his fellow Corpsmen will take his side over Salakk lmao

I've been watching Hazbin Hotel in prime. Just watched episode 5 and I gotta ask

Why, oh, WHY DON'T I SEE MORE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT "MORE THAN ANYTHING" WHEN TALKING ABOUT THE HAZBIN HOTEL MUSIC???

Like I get it, the song before it "Hell's Greatest Dad" Is a bop reminiscent of other music from the era its parodying. I loved it.

I honestly don't even know where to begin with this song. The visuals are beautiful, especially when we get moments like this where you can just see the absolute LOVE this man has for her daughter is so sweet and Heartwarming I just-

The voices are fenomenal but what else can you expect from the broadway talents of Erika Henningsen and Jeremy Jordan.
