A Stellar Birthday

JING YUAN

“Hey.” Your employer briefly knocks at the door of your office to make you aware of his presence before walking up to your desk.

“Hello, sir. Anything the matter?” You inquired carefully, because somehow your gut feeling told you that he was about to tell you something you wouldn’t like.

“Yes. I came to tell you that the vacation day you entered for tomorrow… Unfortunately, you won’t be able to take it anymore.”

“Wh-what? Why?” You ask exasperated. You had booked that day off months in advance because you and Jing Yuan wanted to spend your birthday together.

“I know this is really short notice, but Mei came to my office earlier and it’s her birthday tomorrow. Surely you don’t mind coming to work tomorrow so someone else can celebrate their birthday, right? We’d do the same for you.” 

Your boss tapped your desk twice before turning around again to leave, not even waiting for your reply.

The knot in your throat became tighter and tighter and all you wanted was to yell after him that it was your birthday as well tomorrow. Yet, somehow you didn’t have it in you to correct him, also because you could feel that you would burst into tears the moment you opened your mouth again.

You bit back a sob as you could feel the burning sensation in your eyes and some tears welled up. You tried to calm yourself by repeatedly telling yourself that it couldn’t be helped and that your birthday was just another day of the year anyway. No need to make a big deal about it. You could always spend time with Jing Yuan on another day as well. Right?

You learned your lesson and will just explicitly mention that you will take time off for your birthday next year, something that you had failed to do this year and that had caused this situation in the first place. Your boss could’ve checked your employee card and would’ve seen that it was your birthday as well, but he, too, had a lot on his plate and it couldn’t be helped anymore.

Once you were back home from work you slammed the door shut behind you and quickly took out your phone to open the chat between you and Jing Yuan.

‘Need to cancel our plans tomorrow. I’m sorry. Let’s do something on another day.’ 

You typed and hit send faster than you were able to process before turning your phone to silent mode and throwing it between the pillows of your sofa.

The frustrations of the day began to wash over you all at once at that moment and you could feel the lump in your throat grow to a size that made it hard to breathe. And no matter how much you tried to swallow it down, the tears that started to spill were inevitable. You were angry, frustrated, and just wanted to yell at everything and everyone. Because once again you felt invisible. Like no one in the world cared about your feelings and all you ever had to do was to accommodate everyone else. You hated it and you hated that the feeling was so awfully familiar.

You don’t even know how long you had been crying when the sudden ring of your doorbell pulled you out of the hole of self-pity you had dug for yourself. 

You quickly wiped the tears out of your eyes and checked your face in the mirror beside the door. Your puffy, red eyes would betray that you had been crying to whoever was standing in front of the door right away.

So, you contemplated whether it was a good idea to open at all or if you should simply act like you weren’t at home. Because you didn’t really want to see anyone in this state either. Or, god forbid, have them ask if everything was alright. Because, frankly, nothing was alright right now.

“I know you’re there. Open up.”

The familiar voice rang through the door causing you to perk up. Jing Yuan sounded worried. You assumed that he had probably tried to message or call you and you didn’t pick up because you had set your phone to silent.

Your hand wandered in the direction of the doorknob, which you hesitantly rested it on, still unsure whether to open or to play dead.

“Please… let me in.” He pleaded in a way that almost made your heart shatter. So, with much hesitancy, you decided to open the door.

You immediately saw Jing Yuan’s brows furrow when he looked at your face. Pushing past you inside, he closed the door and immediately took you in his embrace.

“Tell me what happened.” He urged sympathetically, gently stroking your cheeks with his thumb.

Under sobs, you began recalling the events of the day, ending it with a full-on crying session by the moment you stopped talking again. You seriously wondered if he even understood anything you were trying to tell because of how much you had started sobbing throughout it.

He hugged you tightly, wiping away your tears once again, and reassuring you that everything would be alright. At the moment you didn’t quite see how, but he always remained right, so you simply nodded against his chest.

Once you had calmed down a bit he briefly excused himself, reassuring you that he would be right back with something that would cheer you up. And not even forty minutes later he was back with two paper bags filled with your favorite street foods and two cups of Immortal’s Delight.

No matter what, he always knew what he needed to do. While you got some plates and chopsticks out of the kitchen you suddenly heard the familiar ringtone of your phone coming out of the living room.

Confused you walked over to where you had thrown it between the pillows. You could’ve sworn you had put it on silent earlier, so why was it ringing now? 

You fished your phone out and checked the brightly illuminated screen.

Boss.

Why was he calling now? By the Aeons, you sure as hell had enough of him today already.

“Hello?” You picked up questioningly.

“A-ah. It’s good t-that I reach you. Uhm– actually I-I wanted to to tell you that you don’t need to come to work tomorrow. You get your day off. M-my bad. Heh.” He was stammering and sounded more nervous than an alerted Warp Trotter.

“Uh…okay. Thank you.” You paused, walking over to the kitchen, holding your phone to one ear, glaring daggers at Jing Yuan who was happily chewing away at some gyoza and questioningly raising an eyebrow at you.

“Yeah. Uhm… e-enjoy your birthday tomorrow. Oh, and I-I happened to check our yearly employee evaluation and I’m happy to in-inform you that you’re getting a raise. Come to my office on Friday. O-Okay… bye.”

You didn’t even manage to get a word in before he hung up again. One thing was certain though, something smelled awfully fishy here, and it wasn’t the food Jing Yuan had brought in earlier.

“Who was that?” He asked innocently despite knowing full well who had just called.

“What did you do?” You asked accusingly, crossing your arms over your chest at which he just raised an eyebrow.

“Me? I didn’t do anything.” He acted completely clueless but the twitch of the corner of his lips betrayed the truth.

You knew the influence he had aboard the Luofu. He was the General of the Cloud Knights after all. Never did you expect him to use that influence for such matters, however.

“So… does this mean I can stay the night and the plan to go out tomorrow is back on the table?”

This man was unbelievable.

DAN HENG

“Happy Birthday!” The Astral Express Crew gratulated you in unison.

Himeko placed the cake they got for you on the table in front of you while March readied herself to snap a picture. Mr. Yang stood by and watched with crossed arms and a smile on his face. And Pom-Pom was attempting to admonish everyone to not get any burn holes in or crumbs on the red leather bench.

March began counting down from three waiting for the perfect moment to snap a picture of you blowing out the candles. Followed by claps and more birthday wishes from everyone once they were extinguished.

Well, everyone aside from Dan Heng.

He was silently sitting in an armchair away from everyone simply typing and scrolling away on his phone. He hadn’t even looked up once for hours now, let alone engaged in any group activities.

You told yourself you wouldn’t let it sour your mood, it was your birthday after all. So if he wanted to brood, let him brood. 

However, when you tried to hand him a plate with a piece of cake and he just declined the offer with the excuse of not being hungry right now, not even daring to look at you, you couldn’t help but wonder what was up with him.

As you sat back together with the others you occasionally found yourself stealing glances at Dan Heng to see if you could read anything on his face. But it stayed the same. Expressionless and completely unreadable. 

Eventually, after you came back from getting yourself and Mr. Yang a cup of coffee, you found the chair he had sat on all evening empty.

Was something wrong? Did he have a grudge against you?

It didn’t go unnoticed by the others either that you grew quieter and quieter as the evening progressed.

March was the first one to address the elephant in the room.

“It bothers you that Dan Heng didn’t join, right?” And she couldn’t have hit the nail more on the head even if she tried.

You hummed in agreement, taking another sip from your coffee. You looked back to the empty chair for a brief moment, while a thousand questions popped into your head once more.

Ever since the Crew had come back from the Luofu he had been more quiet than usual. He barely even spoke a word with you and kept locking himself up in his room for days on end. It would be a lie if you said it didn’t bother you. Because with every day that passed you wondered more and more why he was acting so differently.

“Don’t worry so much. He’s probably just grumpy about something. He’ll be back to normal in no time.” March reassured with an infectious smile, slinging her arms around you in a quick hug. “Now, we should do something about this gloomy mood. It’s your birthday! What do you want to do? More cake? Dancing? Anything?”

In all honesty, you didn’t really feel like partying as long as Dan Heng’s weird behavior was at the back of your mind constantly. Because no matter what you were doing, you kept thinking about it sooner or later again anyway.

“Did… something happen on the Luofu?” You finally decided to ask. 

March seemed to be taken by surprise by your question before immediately and hectically waving off that anything had happened. Unfortunately for her, she could be read like an open book. So, you immediately knew she was lying. But why?

What happened on the Luofu?

You nodded, accepting that you wouldn’t get any answers from her tonight, and excused yourself, telling everyone that you would be heading to bed now. 

On the way to your room, you saw that Dan Heng’s door wasn’t closed entirely and a streak of light from the inside illuminated the hallway of the cart. You couldn’t help but steal a glance inside, but you found the room completely empty.

Wondering where he went you walked straight past your room, and through some other carts until you eventually reached the observatory and the very last cart.

And this is also where you found him. 

He was sitting next to the telescope at the desk, writing something down. When you knocked on the doorframe to make him aware of your presence, he perked his head up to look at you. Yet somehow he immediately almost looked alert.

“What are you doing here?” His voice sounded panicked, almost accusatory.

“I came looking for you when I saw your room was empty–” You began to explain, confused about the hostility in the air. 

“Did you go in?” He interrupted frantically, jumping up from his chair with a shocked look in his beautiful turquoise eyes.

“I–what? No!” You exclaimed in disbelief. “What is going on with you?”

“It’s nothing.” He once again waved it off, as usual. And his demeanor left more questions than answers every time he did just that.

“Nothing? As in nothing you want to tell me? Nothing why you keep avoiding me? Nothing why you keep diverting the topic whenever I try to ask about the Luofu mission?” You huffed in frustration. You could feel anger that stemmed from weeks of confusion and unanswered questions well up in the pit of your stomach, making you ball your fists at your sides.

Dan Heng exhaled heavily, diverting his gaze to the ground, rubbing the back of his head with his hand.

“Just… talk to me.” You demanded pleadingly.

He took a few steps in your direction, breathing heavily. And before you knew it the air around him began to glow in such a bright blue light, that you had to shield your eyes in order to not get blinded. Sparkles began to form, making the room ooze with magic you had no idea existed. 

When the light finally dimmed again, you lowered the hand you had held in front of your face. But what was in front of you exceeded even your wildest imaginations. Long, silky black hair that faded into dark blue cascaded down Dan Heng’s shoulders, crystalline horns had grown on his head, a translucent dragon tail had formed behind him, and icy blue, glowing eyes were staring right at you. 

You wanted to say something – ask so many questions that were burning at the back of your mind, but every word you were desperate to speak died on your tongue. You were too stunned to speak.

He nodded, dropping his eyes, and pressed his lips into a thin line with a defeated look on his face.

“There. This is why I didn’t tell you… why I’ve been acting the way I did. Because I was scared you would think I’m–”

“Beautiful.” You muttered under your breath faster than your brain could process that you just said it out loud.

“What?” He asked in disbelief.

“You look… beautiful.” You almost choked on your words, still in disbelief over what you just said. You had never acted on your feelings for Dan Heng because you didn’t know if he felt the same for you and in fear of making things awkward. But there was no going back from it now. 

“Like… I truly mean i–mphh”

Before you knew it he had pulled you in by your waist, uniting your lips with an intensity that knocked the air out of your lungs and made you feel lightheaded. 

“Oh god, I-I’m so sorry. I just– I didn’t mean to–” He stammered in panic immediately after breaking off the kiss and realizing what he had just done. Lifting his hand up to his lips shaking his head.

“Please do that again.” You immediately cut him off, pulling his hand away from his face and slinging your arms around his neck while pulling him closer. Your heart was practically beating out of your chest at this point and your face felt like it was burning up. 

You could smell the bitterness of the coffee he had been drinking all evening on his breath and the familiar scent of his aftershave. Because despite everything, he was still Dan Heng. Your Dan Heng. The one you had grown to love. And nothing was ever going to change that.

And with one last adoring look into your eyes, he pulled you in once more in a silent declaration of love.

Alright, so I saw that someone wanted more food insecurity with Ghost, but idk if this counts as food insecurity—it's whatever. It includes food, so it counts. ┐(￣ヮ￣)┌

New Prompt: Ghost has trouble telling when he's hungry until he's literally starving and has really bad time blindness while on leave (like me).

On top of his shit childhood, Simon's teenage years brought on a whole lot of issues with appetite. Despite being a growing boy, Simon has a very unique appetite due to his previous eating habits mentioned in the other ask. He kinda fucked up his hunger levels. He would eat whatever whenever, but he was never actually hungry or at least—he couldn't really tell. This caused problems when he would unknowingly go the whole day without eating something because he couldn't find any scraps to snack on, and couldn't tell that he had been starving until his stomach loudly expressed its anger at him the next morning.

He never really acknowledged it as a serious problem. The military already gave him a set schedule and timeframe on when to eat, so it was never an issue of missing meals and accidentally starving himself.

Until he went on leave for 3 months with Johnny.

There was no longer a set schedule on when to eat since Ghost was sleeping in most of the time like the grumpy black cat that he is. So, sometimes, when Johnny's out in the morning doing whatever and Ghost wakes up, he doesn't eat—like at all. He turns on the TV and absentmindedly watches some random documentary about penguins while mindlessly cleaning around the house and—oh shit, Johnny's home. What time is it?

Why is Johnny already back home? He's supposed to be back by 7pm and it's only—Ghost briefly checked the time on his phone—7:20pm... How the hell...

That was when Ghost suddenly realized that his stomach had literally screaming at him for probably hours. He forgot to eat. He hadn't eaten since he woke up 8 hours ago. He woke up at 11, and it's already night time!

Johnny had a very disappointed expression when he found out that Ghost had done things around the house like clean up and fold clothes and shower, but didn't eat a single thing. Johnny expected Ghost to find leftovers in the fridge like he would back on base, but apparently his LT forgot to look at a clock in between his activities. He was disappointed, but he also had a pretty bad case of time blindness when he was super involved in something, so he couldn't really blame the man. They both learned something new and that info was tucked away for later.

Instead, the two went to the kitchen and Johnny made three of his signature, god-tier-level sandwiches; two for Simon, one for Johnny. It was something quick to make, and they always tasted good. It hit just the perfect spot for someone who hasn't eaten in 8 hours in favor of being productive in an empty household.

From that point forward, Johnny added to his ever-growing list of things about his Ghost. Make sure to remind Simon to eat every 3-4 hours or he will forget (specifically on leave). Simon learned to look forward to Johnny's messages telling him to grab something to munch on everyday.

(i wonder what those text reminders would look like ngl, also someone make up the type of sandwiches that Soap makes bc that man knows how to make a mean sandwich)

Following up my other ask I send, my mom has been mad at me for the past 4 days, I had the worst response to a serious interview, I accidentally said ‘venti’ while I was ordering at a another coffee shop, I’m on my period, I’m more suicidal, school has been ruined, my phone is going to get checked and looked through by the teachers at my school, I had cheer practice and almost passed out and to top it all off I’am on my period. FUCKING HELL!!!!!!!!

I’ve been so stressed out to the point of changing my typing style…

Warning: long rant

It’s alright, you can vent to me whenever you want and feel like it. And I’ll listen, as long as you need to. When the parents are mad at one it’s the worst feeling ever, and it always hurts so much. Have you tried talking with her? Though, if that’s not a possibility, I’d suggest you take a bath in the bathtub or a long shower to calm yourself. It’s very relaxing to have warm water run down your body or soak in it.

Eat something nice. Chocolate and sweets does help with bad mood, fruits too. I’d suggest you eat bananas or smt, I heard they make good mood. Who cares about weight or calories, the most important thing is that you are happy, and as long as you are happy you are the most beautiful version of yourself.

I used to write a journal when I was having a huge fight with my parents, and it really helped to write down every bad thought I had. Like how I hated everything, how sad I was. Now looking back, despite how often I wrote that, i don’t feel that way anymore.

Or, try out something new. Like a new game, read a new manhwa, a new show, listen to music… whatever it is. I’ve started playing dol and it’s really funny! I like Bailey the most :] dunno if you’ve played it before and know about it, though give it a try if you haven’t. If you don’t know how to install it on iOS I can help (it’s a bit complicated)

It’s alright to make mistakes or get turned down. That only means you have to look for other opportunities and learn from your mistakes. No one is perfect, there will always be hardships. But hey, there’s always an exit, whenever you hit your lowest point and everything feels shitty, just remember one day you can and you’ll climb high.

Being on your period is so shitty as a fellow woman I detest it too. The hormones going wild and making me emotional is driving me insane. But, it’s fine, being vulnerable is totally alright. There’s also nothing embarrassing about crying oneself to sleep, no matter what gender. Be honest with yourself and do what you think helps you to most, it’s alright to be egoistic at times, it’s okay.

I don’t know why you said schools not going very well. If it’s because of your grades, don’t be too harsh on yourself. School has just started, there’s enough time to improve. Making notes and writing them down all prettily turned out to be quite fun, it also helps with studying. Or going over the learned stuff with friends. Even if it’s less effective than learning alone, it’s better than hating it. And if it’s because of other people, we’ll, I gave you an answer a long time ago

I also don’t know why your phone is getting checked, and I know for a fact it is illegal except for special occasions (?) here in Germany. That’s simply outrageous. Your phone is something private to you and you only, that’s really horrible. I’m not sure how to help there, but if it were up to me I’d rebel or try and hide everything. Sorry for not having any advice on that one

Anyhow, about the passing out, dw. I went running today again and I also almost passed out. Cuz I went running even though it’s 31 Celsius- now I’m fine again, and by the looks of it, you are doing better too. I’m glad. If you are worried about it being embarrassing, no need to be. I can share an embarrassing story of me so that you don’t feel alone. One time, I thought a guy liked me and he was pretty cute, so I tried to flirt with him. Getting close to him and being a bit touchy. Then he outright told me, “can you keep some distance?” Guess I was picking up the wrong hints… haha… (I was so fucking delusional)

Oh god that was a ramble. Well, if you want to talk about it without other people knowing, you can always write a message to me. I hope you’ll do better after getting a good rest. In order to be in high spirits, it’s also important to take care of your body. Your soul and body is connected, your mind knows when you aren’t feeling your best and it affects your mood too. Some thoughts and details on my last Gamefly rental, No More Heroes(Switch version).

An otaku named Travis Touchdown living in the city of Santa Destroy meets a woman named Sylvia at a bar, and after some talking, decides to join the United Assassins Assiciation(UAA), thinking he'll get lucky with her if he gets to Rank 1(and to earn money for all his otaku needs).

Like Skyward Sword, you can use the Joycons to replicate the feel of the Wii version, but I used the modern control scheme.

Basic controls:

X and Y attack with the beam katana high and low, respectively. While in Santa Destroy, pressing Y has someone drive Travis' motorcycle to him. Holding either button will build up a charge attack.

A and B are melee attacks which can stun enemies and let you use wrestling moves on them by jitting the shown directions on the Control Sticks.

Holding L and spinning the right control stick has Travis wank the beam katana around to recharge it.

Hold ZL to lock onto enemies. While holding the button, you can hit the right control stick left, right or backwards to dodge roll. I think you need to hit a direction on the control stick after guarding to dodge and slow time down to get a few hits in.

When you reduce an enemy's HP to near 0 or counter them by locking blades(or whatever an enemy is using) by spinning the Right Control Stick fast enough, you'll get a prompt to hit the Right Stick in a specific direction, which will do some more damage or kill most regular enemies. After doing one of these Finishers, there'll be a roulette for bonuses at the bottom of the screen, two of which are different types of Super Modes. Managing to get 777 will give you bonus money when you clear a Ranked Battle mission.

After each mission, Travis goes back to his motel room, and there are several things to do there:

Change clothes at Travis' closet.

Change which beam katana to use as you get more from his bed's drawer

Look at the map of Santa Destroy and check your records for missions

Buy new beam katanas or add-ons for it at Naomi's Lab.

Buy new clothes at the Area 51 clothes store. On New Game Plus, some new shirts can be found around the city.

Buy a tape at Beef Head video store which will teach Travis a new wrestling move when he watches it back at his room.

There are 49 Lovikov balls to collect, which can be given to the drunk Russian man, also named Lovikov, to learn new techniques, including being able to Dash by holding A or B when the beam katana isn't out. Here's a map of where they are. It'd be a good idea to probably keep a checklist to mark off as you collect them.

Another set of collectables is trading cards that you can find in treasure chests while doing the Ranked Battle missions, which are all of wrestling mask(Suda51 loves wrestling). On New Game Plus, more trading cards can be found, but around Santa Destroy this time(which I forgot to do before sending the game back).

Before you can do the next Ranked Battle, you actually need to pay an increasing amount of money at the ATM, so you really need to do the side jobs to grind a bit.

Travis has a motorcycle to drive around Santa Destroy with, which is also used in one Side Job and Ranked Battle mission. A is accelerate and B is brake/back up, ZL is a nitro boost and ZR makes it jump. I wish it was used more or that you could have sections with combat on it.

One of the upgrades, the Accelerator, you can buy from Naomi's shop lets you find buried treasure around Santa Destroy, which will also be marked on the map/minimap. On the first playthrough, this will just be 1000 LB, but the new Trading Cards can be found this way on NG+

The last add-on from Naomi costs a huge amount of LB, and the best way to grind seems to be Assassination Gig 18.

The camera can be kind of a pain sometimes, mostly in tight areas like hallways, and it doesn't stay locked on as you dodge roll.

Two types of battles I had trouble with:

A type of 'fight' that happens a few times is having Travis hitting X or A when a line of enemies throws baseballs at you, and you need to hit it correctly to take them out, and it's three strikes to an out. I could never get the timing down to take out more than a couple of them. ^^;

As you progress, there'll be spots around town(and one Assassination Gig) where you fight a bunch of enemies but only have 1 HP.

Being a Suda51 game, it's a mix of bloody, absurd and over the top(along with some nice moments here and there), and is great for it. There's some deeper stuff about the game/characters, as well, with the second set of trading cards on NG+ having more details on the various Ranked Assassins(some of whom come back in later games one way or another).

An old but amusng detail is that Travis' design is based off of Johnny Knoxville, which fits really well. XD

I'd been meaning to play this for a while when it was back on the Wii, and all of the games are easy to play now, so I'll get to the sequels, eventually.

I'm just gonna go ahead and admit it: the secret to beating the Rocket Boss Giovanni, who I find much more palatable as the ringleader of a very eccentric LARP group rather than as any kind of plausibly genuine entity, stay tuned for more off-the-wall Rocket theories folks, is:

I have an issue where I'm slightly worried I've leveled up in this game too fast. I really genuinely honestly love sending and getting the little postcard gifts, those are an obsession for me, and I put stickers on them and they're a lifeline when you're anywhere rural where there's no convenient pokestop walking trail etc (do you know how tedious it is to sit across from the only pokestop for miles with a five-minute timer on your watch spinning the damn thing every five minutes on the dot for hours?) But I have a suspicion those give you too much XP without corresponding game play. And so I hit the point where I'm expected to be able to defeat Giovanni, but I haven't caught that many Pokemon relative to my XP level. That's my suspicion, anyway, because-- well, to beat the Rocket Leaders, I'd already learned that I had to find a primer on what critters they had, and then figure out the type vulnerabilities and go through my deck and find critters with the correct attacks and make sure they were appropriately leveled, and I'd studied up on Giovanni, so the first time I encountered him I went out with my strongest quick-charging-charged-attack fighter, and then I had three possibles for his middle guy, each carefully chosen, and then I had my counter for his final guy, and I got out there and made it through his Persian and then-- whoever the second guy was would just chew up everything i had no matter what. And this was before I hit on my superstition about keeping no fewer than six guys defending gyms as lures to get revives (I genuinely think this is superstition on my part but I believe it super deeply, I'm very easy to condition) so I didn't have enough revives to just keep trying and trying it, I had to give up.

So I went to my various little Discord channels, and first I confirmed with my online friends who got me into this mess that I'd read the instructions right and had the correct guys loaded up to exploit his type vulnerabilities etc., and then I went to the local group and asked if anyone had any tips in the newbie-friendly-help channel, and both groups came back with

I still believe I have to constantly keep half a dozen guys in gyms though. I was raised Catholic, I'm really good at believing stuff.)

In the middle of this I got a Machoke as a research reward! I was very excited, I'd be able to field my own fighter after all! ... 100 candies to evolve. OR you can trade him and then it's free.

Raid Night came, and everyone else does it remote (this was back in the halcyon days of late March), but I asked if anyone would be willing to physically come to the neighborhood where the gyms are. You don't have to like, go to someone's house to trade. I figure, I know from their postcards these people hang around in neighborhoods near that strip with all the gyms on it. And sometimes other people would come in person for the raids, so I figured that was the least weird thing to ask. Is anyone gonna come to do one or more of the raids in person? Can we trade then?

Sure enough, one guy was willing to do it, who I'd been exchanging interactions with so we were leveled up okayish, and so I betook myself down to the strip with the gyms. He was running late, this was fine, I ran out and did my two in-person raids for the evening, got snowed on etc. And then I retreated to a bar just off the main drag, as the Raid Train continued on the southerly route.

And Local Guy (who had driven in from about an hour away for this) rolled up outside in his car, and DM'd me to start the trade. I asked him if he wanted to come in for a beer and he said no. He just swapped me a Machoke for a trash mon he planned to transfer, waited for me to evolve it, and then swapped me a Machamp he'd already put a second charged attack onto and leveled up as far as it would go, and then drove off into the night, without my ever having seen him. 8/25 Backup Has Arrived!

Finally I have encountered a Pokémon that I plan on having as an endgame team member, that being Trapinch. Of course since it is going to be a major party member I wanted it to have a good nature. So I caught about 9 and was able to find one that was jolly nature which is pretty good. I spent a good chunk of time ev training him so that she could be maxed out the way I like and Dill was officially part of the team!

Blaziken was in his Lv 40’s so my Lv 22 Trapinch needed some catching up to do. We struggled a bit as she was so weak to start but she really started proving herself strong and eventually evolved into Vibrava. On my way to Fortree City, I found a Tropius that I decided would be a fun temporary member and also found an Absol which I also considered a potential endgame team member. But when I checked it’s nature it was so bad… but I caught it in the premier ball which is so ideal since I want all my mons to be in different balls if possible. I caught another one after to get a better nature but ran out of premier balls so it was in a ultra ball like my Tropius… so I just went with the bad natured Absol in the premier ball. Learning about Pokémon natures has been a blessing and a curse since I always want to minx/max everything now.

Well with our 4 member team and Dill (Vibrava) becoming a very dependable second in command, we were ready to take on the 6th Gym Leader, Winona. I’m glad I was able to have Dill since Mega (Blaziken) my ace had a terrible type matchup against flying types in general but especially against Winona’s ace, Alteria. So Dill was pivotal here and would need to prove her worth now more than ever.

Winona opens with Swellow which was not much of a threat. Dill knows Rock Throw and it will be her main tool in taking down these flying types. She then send out Alteria which I was surprised by. I wasn’t sure if this was her ace or if she maybe had multiple Alteria. Dill throws the rocks, but doesn’t do enough to ko. Alteria Cotton Gaurds and it’s defense shoots up. Second rock throw does significantly less damage… worry sets in… Alteria then uses Roost… and that’s when I knew we were in trouble. Alteria Cotton Guards once more and now Dill is doing little to no damage with her Rock Throw. That in combination with healing from roost, things were looking bleak. I knew Dill could not take it down. I had to get Mega in and hope that he can land a Critical hit with one of his two crit booster moves: Blaze Kick and Slash. I send in Chaquita (Tropius) to take the hit so that I can eventually send in Mega on a fresh round. Mega starts off with a Blaze Kick and while it didn’t land a crit, it did manage to burn Alteria which was great! Physical Attack cut in half which was crucial since she was throwing earthquakes my way. Mega throws some Slashes but they are doing such little damage because of Alteria’s defense. Mega has to land one before Alteria eventually takes Mega out. Mega is in the yellow but manages to pull off a Critical Slash! Alteria is knocked out but I still feared her remaining two party members. She send out Peliper which Mega had a terrible matchup against. In fear of another Alteria I decided I need to save Mega so I send out Soul (Absol) to take a hit and hopefully do some damage before Dill is sent out to continue its rock throws. Absol faints, Dill takes over and manages to take out Pelipper. Her last Pokémon is sent out and it’s Skarmory. Oh the joy I felt when I saw that Steel bird. Having Mega in the back, victory was assured but Dill was able to finish the job with some clutch flinches from Rock throw. The Feather Badge was ours. What an amazing battle and I could not have done it without our new team members.

There are many ways to add money to Venmo. A balance can be maintained in your account just like a PayPal account or a bank account. These funds can be used to make any purchase.

Alternatively, you can pay directly using other accounts without having to maintain a balance in the app.

Transferring funds from your bank account is the easiest way to add money to Venmo. One drawback to this is that Venmo will require you to first be approved for Venmo’s Mastercard debit card. Here's how it works.

Bank Account

To transfer money from a bank into Venmo, you first need to link your bank account with the app. This should be a regular checking account to avoid any problems. This should not be a savings account or any other type that may have difficulty transferring funds quickly.

To link your bank account:

First, go to the "Me" tab

For settings, hit the gear icon

Swipe down to "Payment Methods" then tap "Add a bank card or bank account"

Enter your bank account details including routing and account numbers.

Linking your Bank Account to Venmo

You will need to verify your account before you can transfer money into your Venmo balance.

If you're willing to provide your online banking username, password, and login information, linking your bank can be done immediately. Venmo uses Plaid to access your account. This is an encrypted method. It checks your identity to verify that you have sufficient funds for payments.

This form of verification is not accepted by all banks. The second option is to do a micro-transfer. This type of transaction may be used to verify PayPal or other online financial transactions.

Venmo will take two small deposits, each less than $1, and then withdraw the funds. This process can take between 1 and 3 days. Once all payments have been cleared, your account will be verified.

Venmo recommends that you have a minimum of $2 in order to conduct the verification process. This is because banks might process repayments before deposits clear.

You can now make Venmo payments directly from your bank account. Verified accounts are able to make combined transactions up to $4,999.99 per Week. However, a single transaction cannot exceed $2,000

How do I transfer money from my bank to Venmo?

You can add funds to your Venmo account by adding funds from your bank if you have a Venmo Debit Card (see below). This is how you do it:

Tap the "Me" tab to go to "Manage Balance"

Then tap 'Add Money' or 'Add or Transfer' depending upon your app version

Enter the amount

Click on the bank account that you have previously added to confirm the transaction. The process of adding to your Venmo account can take 5 working days.

You don't have to keep a Venmo account balance. Most people do not choose to. You can tap the payment icon in the top right to use your bank's account as the source of a backup payment.

Venmo balance funds will be used first if they are available. Any amount remaining will be taken out of your backup, in this instance your bank.

You can use your bank to pay if you have a zero balance

With a Debit Card

The process of adding a debit card to your bank account as a payment method is the same as adding a bank account.

Go to Settings

Then to "Payment Methods"

Tap to 'Add a Bank or Card'. Then choose 'Card'.

Then, enter your card details either manually or by using the photo scanning feature

You don't need to verify your card as with a bank account.

How do you add money using a debit card to Venmo?

This option is not available if you have Venmo’s official debit card account. You will need a linked bank account to do this.

To make a payment directly from your debit card:

Tap the payment icon in the top right

Select a contact to add or remove a recipient

Select your card to be a 'Backup Payment'

The card will immediately become the payment source if you do not maintain a sufficient balance.

With a Credit Card

Follow these steps to add money to Venmo using credit card accounts:

Go to Settings, then Payment Methods

Tap to 'Add a Bank or Card'. Then choose Car'.

Then, enter your card details either manually or by using the photo scanning feature

Verification is not necessary as long as the Venmo account name matches the one on your card.

To make a payment directly from your credit card:

Tap the payment icon in the top right

Select a contact to add or remove a recipient

Use your credit card to make a backup payment'

If there is no Venmo balance, your credit card will be used as the payment source.

You cannot use a credit card to fund your Venmo balance. These payments are not considered cash advances or purchases.

Also, credit card payments are subject to a 3% Venmo fee unless you purchase from one or two select outlets.

An alternative option is to apply for Venmo’s Visa credit card, which comes with tons of benefits.

This is how you do it:

Tap the "Me" tab. Next, tap "Manage Balance".

Click to 'Add or transfer'

Enter the amount you wish to pay and choose your bank account

The funds should arrive within 3 to 5 business days.

You will see the option labeled "Instant" in your feed if you were one of the lucky recipients of the Instant Money feature. The bank transfer will be available immediately. It may take up to 3-5 business days for your bank statement to reflect the transfer.

This method is only available for $500 per week.

Venmo Debit Card Reload

You may now be wondering if you can add cash to your Venmo card.

Your Venmo balance is the sum of all funds that have been sent to you and/or transferred from your bank account. This balance will be withdrawn automatically whenever you use your Venmo card online or in-store.

If your Venmo balance is not sufficient to cover the purchase, your card can use your bank account as a backup source. You must enable "reloads". It functions just like a regular debit card from a bank.

It will fund Venmo in increments equal to $10 regardless of the purchase price. Venmo will not take $45, but $50 from your bank if you have a $10 balance and spend $55. Venmo will keep the $5 extra in your Venmo account.

To turn on reloads

Go to the Debit Card Section of the app

Tap the Venmo Card Image

You'll be able to toggle reloads off or on.

For transactions to be smooth, you need enough money in your bank account for both the amount that you are spending and the $10 increment.

How to add funds to Venmo free of charge? Venmo offers a Visa Credit Card that you can apply for through the app.

You will need to provide proof of identification and personal details for the debit card. To determine your eligibility, a credit check will also be performed.

i knew there had been some changes to the breast that had a benign tumor from a decade and a half ago, what i saw was recent enough that i felt safe waiting until my better insurance plan kicked in

but theyre saying this would have been metastasizing gradually over a number of years to get where it is. and based on the potentially related symptoms theyre asking me about, i can see some of it has been at least 5 or 6, probably even longer.

idk if the biopsy was wrong somehow when i was 26. idk if maybe something was changing under the fibroadenoma, like right under it, bc theres a lot of tiddy there and it was right under the nipple and thered be no way i could feel anything under it from the side.

they couldnt even find the damn thing when i had that mammogram, i had to get an ultrasound so they could see it.

with it being right under the nipple, theres a type of breast cancer that will start out isolated inside of a single milk duct and if left alone may eventually bust out. so absent any other information, my gut feeling is it was cancer the whooole time.

( hello! this is the first time i'm posting an 'x reader' kind of fic in actual years, but i've been in the habit of writing them ever since because it helps me undo a lot of writer's block when it comes to my writing i'm attempting to do. but in the meantime, i've been absolutely feral about adaman, so i decided to take a crack at writing once more. hopefully some people will like it! if you do, be sure to let me know and i will write more! also i do accept prompts selectively if you wish to send any! )

You know, in hindsight, this was easily one of your dumber moves in life. Granted you weren’t that old, but adult enough where you should have known the risks.

Besides, this was more of a lapse of common sense and safety measures.

Jumping off of Braviary’s little triangle thing was something you’d borderline mastered at this point. A few feet off the ground, you let go and let Braviary fly off rather than having to land and readjust. It was a timesaver, and it was something you learned early on. After all, sometimes those few seconds was the difference between catching a Pokemon and having it run away.

Honestly, it’s not like you were that far off the ground. Maybe a little further than you should have been, but definitely too far for conditions. You hadn’t been thinking about the rains from the night before, just focused on catching the Pokemon that had gathered in the area. It wasn’t one you got to see too often, so you were excited that there was a horde of them for you to catch.

But of course, nothing could go as planned. You had it easy for far too long, fate decided.

As soon as you hit the ground, your ankle slid on mud and rolled awkwardly, causing you to slip and fall. You tried to grab onto anything around you, but you tumbled down the large hill helplessly with a shout.

Pebbles and rocks from the mud scraped against your hands and arms as you desperately tried to stop yourself to no avail from sliding down. Once you finally skidded to a stop, you took some time to look over your clothes. You were covered in dirt and mud of various levels of dry, your hands and arms scraped up with little bubbles of blood coming from a couple of them. Your clothes were for sure in need of a soak in the river after this, hoping to get most of this out.

However, your ankle quickly wiped away all other thoughts.

It gave an angry throb, and you realised it was twisted hard in a direction it normally shouldn’t be pointing in. Your hands went to cover it, but touching it made it worse. Flexing your hands next to your ankle, gritting your teeth as you tried to think of how to get out of this situation. Today you didn’t plan on battling much, so you only brought a couple Pokemon. Only one of them was bonded to you — your Umbreon.

Finding the grime-covered Pokeball on your pouch, you released your companion and smiled when it chirped coming out of the ball. She was so cute.

“Umbreon, I need your help,” you speak softly but strained, trying to stay calm as to not freak out your friend. A worried chirping noise came as she came closer, nuzzling your arm with her nose. “Yeah, I’m in a bit of trouble. I need you to go to the Diamond settlement nearby and grab someone there. It’s a little over that way.” You pointed in the general direction of the settlement. “Do you think you can do it?”

With a confident bark, your Dark-type girl was on her way.

It was a pretty peaceful day in the Diamond settlement. Everyone had been busy doing house chores and in general staying in the vicinity of the settlement, including Adaman. Normally he couldn’t sit still for the day, constantly needing to be moving and checking up on everything around the area, but they knew the land was too muddy to walk. The previous day’s downpour made everything just a tad too dangerous to stray too far from their little village. Even the ground there was on the soft side, forcing everyone to take care in how they walked, lest they end up slipping and covering themselves in mud.

Still, despite having to stay near the settlement for the day, Adaman wasted no time. Instead of leaving to check things like normal, he spent the time training with his Leafeon. It was a two-for-one, in his opinion. Not only was his Pokemon pal getting stronger with learning and mastering its moves, but it was also making their bond stronger as after their training session, Leafeon always got little treats. Sure, Pokemon could be dangerous and scary, but with proper training and a little help from a certain someone who fell from the sky, they could be very good friends.

He was thankful the Survey Corps was helping everyone understand Pokemon more than before. The fear of the unknown was strong, and if everyone got to know Pokemon, maybe they wouldn’t be so feared. Feared a little, maybe, considering some seemed to be much stronger and angrier than others, but at least have a general understanding to forward the thinking of living with the creatures rather than separately.

Adaman was pulled back to reality when he heard murmurs around him. He shook his head a bit to clear his thoughts, heading toward the front of the settlement to see what was going on.

There stood an Umbreon, held back from entering by the guards.

Immediately the hairs on the back of his neck stood up as he knew something was wrong. Umbreon wasn’t really a wild Pokemon to just show up, so clearly, this had to be someone’s very own. There weren’t a whole lot of people he knew that even had Umbreons, except one for certain. One Survey Corps member that he knew would be wandering about today in the Crimson Mirelands, despite warnings not to.

“What’s going on?”

“I don’t know,” the woman responded, her arms crossed. “This little guy has been trying to come in, but we don’t want any trouble. We can’t be for certain why it’s here.”

Adaman slowly approached the Pokemon, getting on one knee to talk to it eye-to-eye like he did with Leafeon. “Hey, buddy. What are you doing here?”

The Umbreon chirped at him, gently taking his haori gently into its mouth to tug. It wasn’t a hard tug like it was attempting to rip clothes, but enough to show that it definitely wanted the leader to follow it. His eyebrows furrowed as he got up, turning to the woman once more.

“I’m going to follow this Umbreon. I think someone might be in trouble.”

“Just be careful, Adaman.”

“I’ll take my time.”

Being alone with your thoughts with nothing around you and no way to entertain yourself, time seemed to go by so slowly. You didn’t know exactly how long it had been, but you knew it had been at least an hour considering the sun had changed positions, but you still weren’t the greatest at gauging time just simply by the sun. Either way, being uncomfortable didn’t help the passage of time go any faster — between the pain and the feeling of being covered in gunk and grime, time seemed to be moving slower than ever.

The sound of footsteps coming closer caught your ears, causing you to hold your breath and listen closely. Was that someone coming to rescue you, or a Pokemon about to find and eat you alive? You weren’t sure — until your Umbreon rounded the corner of the hill.

“Umbreon!”

She let out a trilling sort of noise before running up to you and bumping her head against yours as a greeting. The sound of your name followed, and you looked up to see Adaman staring down at you. A sort of amused disappointment was written all over his face, one hand on his hip and one in his pocket as he shook his head. “I should have known you’d get yourself into trouble.”

Your face grew warm as you grinned sheepishly, calling Umbreon back into her ball. “Yeah, well, I’ve never been one for thinking ahead much.”

He laughed a bit before starting to offer you a hand, before finally looking down at your legs. Seeing your ankle bent awkwardly in a direction it should not be pointing made the smile drop instantly, and before you knew it he was kneeling down to look. “Almighty Sinnoh, what did you do?”

You swallowed hard, looking in the other direction. “I… landed a little hard when letting go of Braviary. When I hit the ground, my ankle twisted and I slid and fell down the hill.”

“Twisted? More like broken. Do you think you can stand on your other foot to get on my back?” Adaman stood up and held out his hand, worry clearly written all over his face.

“With help, yeah,” you respond, taking his hand and hauling yourself up precariously on one leg. Your other leg was bent at the knee to avoid having your foot touch anything more than it needed to. Your balance wobbled a bit with trying to find the correct way to stand on one foot, but Adaman quickly came to the rescue by holding your arm and allowing you to lean on him for support. You sighed, embarrassed by the situation. “I’m sorry for wasting your time like this, Adaman.”

He looked at you, a soft smile on his face. “You’re not wasting my time. You never could.” His cheeks dusted pink for a bit, and he cleared his throat. “I’d rather this than spend time worrying over where you are because no one has heard from you in a while.”

You smiled back, locking eyes with him for a little bit too long before you both look away with matching blushes. “We, uh… we should start heading back before it gets dark.”

With a bit of a strained effort on your part, you finally managed to hop onto Adaman’s back. He held your legs by his waist as your arms wrapped around his neck and dangled down by his chest, your face resting on his shoulder. “It’ll be a bumpy ride, but we’ll get to the settlement soon,” Adaman spoke as he walked, trying to be quick but not slide or drop you. “You can spend the night at my place. Uh, if you want,” he added quickly.

“Nothing would make me happier after this shitty day, Adaman,” you spoke softly, smiling the entire time.

You startled when you heard a voice behind your back, nearly dropping the letter in your hand. When you tried to turn around, that person slowly put their hand on your waist to pull you closer to their body. The cold temperature made you shiver when your body got to lean against them, you realized that immediately.

“W-Welcome home Sir.”

“I’m home.”

Nikolai said when he leaned his chin on your shoulder. His mismatched eyes looked at the envelope in your hand, curiously. Then he asked.

“What’s in your hand, Dove?”

“Nothing, just some of the paper needs to be thrown away.”

You said then put the letter inside of your dress pocket. Nikolai looked at your side profile when you said that, you felt his arms grabbed around your waist tightly then he said.

“Young lady doesn’t lie, little lady [Last name].”

You sighed then took out the letter you were hiding, you showed him the name of the sender on the envelope. When Nikolai learned that this kind of letter was from your family he said.

“A letter from your loving family? Well, I don’t expect them to send you a letter like this.”

“Me too.” You agreed with him, your eyes now paying attention to the envelope, as you continued. “Shall I open it?”

“Depending on you, Dove.”

Nikolai said, his eyes did not leave the envelope, if this kind of letter is the reason why you were sad he would storm up with the whole of your family. When Nikolai was planning you opened the envelope and took a card out of it, you turned to the letter side. A beautiful handwriting that you recognized right away when you looked at it, you read outloud the card.

“The [Last name] family masquerade?” 

You frowned when you read the first line, you wondered why they celebrate a masquerade during these days. You tried to remember if there were any important days that you forgot, but you had no clue, when you read the next line you finally understood.

“To introduce the wife of the young master of the [Last name] family?”

You sighed, they never cared about how you were during these days but they sent you a letter to ask you to join the family masquerade. 

“Do you want to join in?”

Nikolai asked you when he looked at your side profile, your face seemed like you were lost in your mind now. You crumpled the letter in your hand then tossed it inside your dress pocket, you leaned your head on his chest and said.

“I guess I will join it with you.”

You showed up with  his name written neatly on the line.

Sincerely invite Duke Nikolai Gogol and his wife.

“Thank you.”

You received a glass of wine when you stood alone in the party, people kept having their own gossip with the others and there were some of them approached to asked or talked to you. You felt uncomfortable when joining your own family, just felt like you were going to become a young lady of the [Last name] family again. 

Nikolai was going to meet a person he needed to meet in this masquerade so he told you to stand there and waited here for him. You took a sip of wine when you looked at the people who were standing in here, beside the people talking to each other, you could hear a Waltz music which was playing over and over. And overthere, you could see some couples dancing together.

“Oh, I thought that you would never join our masquerade.”

A voice suddenly raised to make you turn around, a young boy that you had known a long time ago just before you left this [Last name] family. You narrowed your eyes behind your own mask and a smirk appeared on your face when you recognized that person, you said.

“Ah, long time no see, my little brother is growing up fastly, I guess.”

“And young lady [Name] doesn’t change after a long time we don’t interact with each other right?”

Your young brother asked. Suddenly you guys chuckled when you finished asking, you raised your own glass of wine to him and said.

“Congratulations on your growing up, kiddo.”

“Thank you, older sister.”

The clinging sound of the wine glass resounded gently in the air, you looked at the person opposite you and said.

“So the old man forced you to marry? To continue his idiot family tradition, right?”

“Yeah, I am sick of his talking everyday that I had to get married a lot.”

Your young brother replied, he then looked at your [color] orbs which were hidden behind the charming mask and asked.

“So… dear sister, what do you do during these days? Does your husband treat you well?”

“Duke Nikolai is good, beside the problem that he was a vampire so he needs to have my blood everyday.” You stopped for a while then continued. “He still takes care of me really well.”

“Glad that you are feeling better.”

You frowned when you looked at your young brother, you could see his eyes were sparkling as if they were smiling at you behind his mask. He could understand right away that you did not get what he was saying so your brother said.

“You said about him with your sparkling eyes, sister. Before leaving this family, your eyes don’t have any colors or happiness in it.”

“So am I?”

You said to him, your brother nodded his head to confirm that. You smiled with him and hitted gently on his arms.

“Thanks, you better visit me next time you come to our mansion.”

“Okay, dear sister.” Your young brother chuckled then his eyes noticed at the stair of the ballroom then he looked at you and said. “See you later, sister.”

You nodded your head when he started walking, your young brother also nodded his head before he disappeared in the crowd. After your brother you left a long sigh then put the glass of wine on the tray of the servant who was standing nearby and left the ballroom. You step out of the room then walk to the balcony outside of the room.

The cold wind brushed your [color] hair when you were standing at the balcony looking at the beautiful night sky in front of your eyes. You slowly took off your own mask, you were really tired when joining a masquerade party just like this. You closed your eyes to feel the wind rubbing your face, your body leaned on the railing, the cool air seemed to have its own way to calm you down a lot. After standing here for a moment you decided to put your mask back on, it was time for you to get inside the masquerade again.

You suddenly quivered when you felt there was a cold temperature on your neck. This party was one of the most dangerous masquerade if humans like you did not be careful. Almost all the noble families in this area were vampires, so humans always needed to be aware of them if they did not want to die. You turned around right away and saw a hand appear through the portal, you realized it right away. You chuckled and said.

“Sir Nikolai, is that you? Are you here, Sir?”

“My, my, my young lady is too sharp, she can realize her own husband right away, right?”

A familiar voice resounded behind your back, you turned around immediately just to see Nikolai was sitting on the railing where you had just leaned on a moment before. You could see his eyes which were showing off some tricks in them through the mask. His hand through the portal gently rubbed your head and he said.

“Don’t you enjoy the masquerade without me, Dovey?”

“Not quite much.” You replied, gave him a smile on your face, you continued. “I feel empty when you aren’t here with me, Sir. Seems like…”

You took a step closer to Nikolai who was still sitting on the railing, tipped your toes then gave him a kiss on his cold lips. 

“I miss you, Sir.”

You whispered to him. Nikolai right away put both of his arms around you to make you lean on his chest. When you left his lips Nikolai slowly took off your masquerade mask and whispered.

“This mask hides your beauty, love. And also, I am not interested in wearing a masquerade mask, so… will you take it off for me?”

You nodded your head then you took off his masquerade mask, Nikolai’s mismatched eyes looked at you gently. You loved his beautiful mismatched eyes a lot, somehow those eyes made you feel safe when you were looking at them. Nikolai suddenly placed a kiss on your cheek, then he put one of his hands on your other cheek and said.

“Still as beautiful as I remember.”

Your cheeks glowed red when you heard Nikolai say it. Of course, you still remembered what he called remember, to be clear that was you two first time meeting.  

“Sister, you need to get back to the masquerade or the old man will be mad at you.”

The young boy kept chasing and talking with you while you were holding up your own prom dress and tried to get out of him. You then stopped and turned around, that made the young boy fall if he did not stop immediately, you hissed.

“Don’t you dare talk about that stupid old man again? I am sick of his damn saying, if he is gonna do anything to me I would piss him off.”

You left the boy behind and tried to escape that place, now you were standing in the garden where you could see the light of the ballroom and the Waltz music was resounding into your ears. You were getting tired just because of those traditions that your father setted up for you and for the whole family, he made you marry the one you did not know his face neither you did not have any emotions for him just because he helped your family and had big affection in front of the public.

You sat down on your knees, buried your face in your crossed arms, you cried quietly. How many times did you cry when you were a child, you did not know. You hated this kind of life a lot, you thought if you got married with someone else you would escape from this house and maybe if that man did not love you, you would leave him and have a normal life, you thought.

“Hey, why are you crying here?”

A man's voice resounded made you startled, both of your arms hurriedly wiped away the tears on your face. You did not want anybody else to see you were crying, but that person seemed fast, you could feel he was standing behind you. You felt a hand touching your head, when you lifted your head up just to say.

“I’m alright Sir, you don’t have to worried about m-”

Your eyes opened wide when you saw a hand appear in the portal instead of that person standing in front of you. You turned around and saw a man with a half black and white mask on his face, you could see his elegant smirk was on his lips, he asked.

“Young lady, what’s wrong, I don’t mind if you tell me.”

You stood up, wiping the dust on your dress away when you faced him, the other hand of yours tried to clear all of the tears on your face. You said.

“I am sick of my family, I hope I will be able to leave them.”

“Oh, I understand it. You were forced with lots of traditions of your own house, am I right, young lady?”

That man said politely, you nodded your head. This person understood your idea really quickly, he seemed like he knew all about you even though… you had not met him before. He smiled when he looked into your eyes through the mask. You could see his mismatched beautiful eyes behind the mask, that was when the man bowed down made you surprised, he raised a hand up to you and said.

“Shall I invite you for a dance?”

“O-Oh, you should be careful of me. Because…” You stopped for a while, hesitated to take his hand then you continued. “...I can’t dance as nicely as other people in my family, I might step on your feet, Sir.”

“Don’t worry, I will help you, young lady.”

The man lifted his head up, and said. You slowly took his hand, he immediately held your hand and his other hand placed on your waist then he started dancing when the Waltz in the ballroom had just started playing another one. You were panicking with him but you felt that he was slowly waiting for you to dance, not to rush, but not to slow, his speed was nearly for you to catch. 

When the music flew up he lifted you by grabbing your waist and spinning three times, that was the hard one in dancing, no one could do it except they were professional in dancing. You now could see his overall, white-longed hair was braiding neatly, his mismatched eyes sparkling under the moonlight. His beauty made your heart miss a beat, how beautiful he is. He might be an Angel, not a real Angel but maybe the decay one. 

When his hand touched your hand again, you could feel his cold temperature on your hand. He seemed so fragile…

You thought to yourself when you continued dancing with him, when the Waltz was done he left your hand and with a turn with his cape, you did not see him anymore.

“You didn’t even tell me your name or nothing, Sir. You just disappeared and then returned back to our mansion and said that you are my fiance.”

You chuckled when you talked with Nikolai, he switched the place between you two. Now he was standing on the floor of the balcony while you were sitting on the railing. He said.

“I just want to meet my fiancee before I ask to marry her.”

Your cheeks were glowing red when your forehead leaned on his one. Nikolai smiled when he looked at you then he said.

“Dovey, I have a present for you.”

You tilted your head when you heard him say, then you felt something had just put on your head. That was when you raised your head up to touch the things on your head, a flower crown was placed on your head. You were surprised when he did it, Nikolai smiled when he looked at you.

“Beautiful flowers for beauty, love. You deserve it.”

“Th-Thanks, Sir.”

You smiled gently when you looked at him again. 

Nikolai slowly looked at you in your eyes, he really wanted to protect you, not to make you hurt for any reason. He would kill anyone who laid their fingers on you immediately. Nikolai helped you to get down from the railing, placed your mask on your face again. He also put his mask on his face and said.

“I guess that we have to continue the masquerade, love.”

You nodded your head, agreed with what he was saying. Nikolai raised his hand for you to hold him, you immediately took it in your hand. He felt warm when your palm rubbed against him, for somehow he also used to this kind of warmth of yours.
