on masks

so shockingly miracle mask has huge mask theming in like every aspect. basically every significant character is 'wearing' a mask literally or metaphorically, except for luke who remarks in ludmilla's costume shop that he doesn't think any of the masks suit him (since the events of the previous game luke can be authentically himself now.) this is fun to notice on its own, but there's more to be discussed than just the presence of masks.

every mask in miracle mask backfires on its wearer to some degree! the most obvious case of this is descole and the masked gentleman straight up underestimating their own mask/s and failing to see their plans to the end, and the resulting consequences. dalston and henry's masks of stoicism turn out to have kept them from years of friendship they could have enjoyed, and paint them both as suspects in the masked gentleman case. angela's aloof facade and distance from everyone around her allows her to be kidnapped for a significant portion of the game without anyone but the professor noticing (and even then, he notices that something's up with her, but chalks it up initially as not knowing her anymore). less obviously, emmy's mask only means she'll end up hurting the people she has come to care for even more when the time comes.

most interesting to me, though, is hershel! even as a teen he's remarkably reserved, though clearly passionate. he keeps himself very controlled, and seems to care very much about coming across to others as helpful, grounded, and 'normal'. the interests that we know he has he keeps locked up, literally hidden away in cupboards, not to be acknowledged aloud to himself or others. he never gets angry or ever really displays any stereotypical teen behaviours apart from awkwardness.

now what this means is he is treated as the reliable one who will nonetheless go along with whatever randall wants him to do. he's never particularly assertive (something he will learn to be as an adult) so his willingness is taken for granted. he's put in mortal danger in akbadain because it never occurs to randall that hershel's protests are anything more than for appearance's sake.

and when randall falls and hershel is alone, he yells! he falls to his knees, completely overcome. he cries. he pushes through. and when he reaches angela and henry, alone, covered in dirt, looking completely haunted... they don't even ask him if he's okay. angela bodily shakes him. in the past and present, nobody treats hershel as if he's been through something traumatic - to everyone else, he was either a bystander to or complicit in randall's death, but controlled, mild-mannered and rational hershel is never considered a victim in his own right even after years have passed for everyone to think on it. years after the fact angela apologises to hershel... when she realises she needs his help. and henry immediately accuses him of betraying randall's memory and abandoning him.

and to be clear this isn't me saying oh they're evil or whatever but it's significant that they acknowledge how the trauma affected them and their behaviour from that point forward but it doesn't occur to them that hershel's behaviour and life trajectory was also altered forever! because hershel has for his whole life masked so well that to everyone else he does not have an interior life that isn't puzzle solving.

and the absolute funniest thing about it is that when hershel confesses this all to emmy and luke.... it's immediately back to the investigation, "where do we go now professor!" i'm sure there's no reason to ask if hershel's okay, he's probably unaffected by all that, let's go! readers i laughed out loud. tfw you mask so well everyone forgets you're a person

I was wondering about what your thoughts were on the Interns/junior agents in the second game?

Honest thank you. General Psychonauts 2 spoilers below. Nothing major.

My feelings on them weren't very positive at the beginning. I grew fonder of them throughout the game though. But after beating the game; Them, and many other aspects were revealed to just be that. They're okay, but nothing deeper. If I had to like any of them it'd be Sam, Adam, and Lizzie. I either forget, don't care, or dislike the others.

Although, while occasionally fun to draw and think about, they suffer from from not having anything extra about their lives to latch onto, like the campers. I like sticking to and basing stuff off of canon, and there is not much canon to write off of.

Mixed feelings on them as a whole, again. I find the hazing they did to Raz a bit silly. In a negative sense. How old are they? Teenager or Adult? Doesn't matter much. At any age I can't imagine doing that to someone. Nevertheless a kid instead of someone your age. Call me new-fashioned, but I think its cruel and unusual. I don't find the scene after funny either. It's a bit weird to sit through.

And characters don't have to always do morally good actions. Doing the opposite doesn't make a character bad. I just don't see why/how we're supposed to ever like them afterwards. I don't understand how they ever get along or "become friends" with Raz. Remembering this detail really sours my opinion of them all. Unless I'm recalling wrong. Even if they aren't friends by the end, they're still at least a bit chummy. If I was Raz, I'd never interact with them again if I didn't have to.

But I'm not Raz. And he can do whatever he wants. This self-disrespecting, approval seeking kid. A kid who thinks that if he impresses the people older than him he'll be treated on their level. A kid who believes that he if he just proves himself, they'll treat him like a regular human being. And that's not unrealistic. He's 10 after all. But it makes me sad.

I enjoy these asks, really. But letting you all know now, many aspects solely about Psychonauts 2 I am not the biggest fan of. I love Psychonauts, I just think many new aspects of the sequel are contrived or boring. Not that people can't or shouldn't be fans of the stuff! Just please don't expect too much here.

arcee for the ask meme?

one aspect about them i love:

you know, idw arcee does not get enough credit for sometimes being funny as fuck and, in a broader sense, weirdly... maybe chill isn't the right word and yet. sort of! she's so completely unimpressed by all the clowns doing clown shit around her, even the ones she broadly likes and even usually respects to some degree; arcee has lived so much longer than 99.9% of the people she interacts with basically ever, and seen so much shit that makes it hard to see the current shitshow that is Cybertron trying to re-establish itself as some unprecedented disaster or whatever, that she's very. refreshingly blunt and inclined to even a certain level of irreverence at times that bounces off the people around her incredibly well as a character. optimus tries to angst about having seen soooo much terrible shit and arcee's like 'shut up whippersnapper lmaoooo' and it's great and very necessary. UNPHASED, that's the word i wanted rather than chill! she's delightfully unphased.

one aspect i wish more people understood about them:

basically anything about idw arcee that relates to her not being hyper-violent, lmao. i gotta be real. but specifically, that she's introspective! one of the most introspective characters in exRiD, i would say! arcee struggles to understand herself but not for lack of trying, and she's not a thoughtless 'haha violence and murder fun' machine, just incorrectly perceived as such by the people around her and struggling to work out how to establish herself as more than that after what she's been through. arcee has a lot of thoughts about her role on a post-war cybertron, on the autobots and her decision to join them, on the people around her and who she works with, on how they treat her. but too often she gets portrayed as 'just wants to know where the next fight is' for a joke, which completely flattens her into a caricature.

one (or more) headcanon(s) i have about this character:

arcee's voice is like. really loud. zero volume control. even when she whispers she sounds weirdly loud. everyone is too intimidated by her to tell her to keep it down and she wouldn't care even if they did so she just cheerfully goes on her way bursting into any room like HEY WHAT'S UP at full volume. god bless her.

one character i love seeing them interact with:

i actually really like her dynamic with optimus in exRiD and especially when you get to like, the OP ongoing and Unicron; she's simultaneously very much wanting to be on his side and work with him but also just not awed by him at all the way others- even those who really don't like Optimus- wind up being. his reputation is not impressive to her, neither in a positive or a negative sense, because again, arcee is old as balls and has seen much more of cybertronian history than everyone else around her, and understands him as a part of a cycle of history. she's seen the entire concept of a 'prime' be invented for political reasons and she's seen the original claims to that title fall; it's not that it means nothing to her, but it means something very different

and what i think i like best is that despite optimus screwing so much up during that part of the comics, in ways that specifically relate to buying into his own hype and misusing the power it affords him as a direct result, he clearly values keeping arcee around for this very reason. she punctures his ego with no fuss and is really the sole person not only willing but even capable of doing that. it creates a dynamic he has with her there's really not an equivalent to anywhere else. i really do love it. we need more of them being Weird Friends.

one character i wish they would interact with/interact with more:

I WISH WE COULD HAVE SEEN HER AND ANODE ACTUALLY INTERACT...... i love that they canonically know each other and i think they'd be a hysterically funny duo because they're both complete wildcards but arcee is from a fucking grimdark sci-fi epic and anode is from a heist movie about being a lovable rogue. all i want is for them to be the weirdest double act ever. arcee would definitely help anode and lug do a bank robbery but she has to keep being told to put the swords away. and the big gun. and the small gun. and-

and then they all go down the pub and tell extremely weird stories about their extremely weird lives. good times.

one (or more) headcanon(s) i have that involve them and one other character:

arcee and prowl definitely have some kind of final talk post-canon that is very tense and awkward, and which arcee initiates specifically because the idea of leaving anything unsaid there (and therefore giving prowl any remaining emotional power over her, however small) pisses her off. it leaves her unhappy but ultimately feeling like she cleared the air and prowl feeling weird and uncomfortable and like that was the opposite of closure, i think. and now arcee never has to think about him again.

Cutting straight ahead to the point, on my first watch I didn't necessarily hate season 6. After re-watching it for this ranking, I still don't downright hate it but I definitely have more gripes and frustrations with it now looking back.

This is the first time I had to put only one episode in S tier because no other episode reached the same levels of quality that the pervious seasons did. Not saying the second tier of episodes weren't great either, they are. It's just when comparing them to season 5 and 4, (which had so many well-rounded crafted episodes that had me constantly floored) only 'The Man Who Would Be King' impressed me to that level. To avoid total negativity I will share the parts that I whole heartedly enjoyed:

-Weekend at Bobby's. It was so refreshing to get not only a Bobby centered episode but also to see him winning for once. I absolutely love Bobby and Crowley as a duo, they're so entertaining.

-Souless Sam. I have been devouring Souless Sam edits recently (if anyone has any Souless Sam content to send or recommend to me please do!) Ugh I will never get over Jared's performance, so sinister at times but also combined with the prefect dose of sass. I found 'Clap Your Hands If You Believe' so funny and I could not stop quoting "Empathy Sam! Empathy!" Honestly sometimes I miss Souless Sam but when I go back to episodes like 'All Dogs Go to Heaven' I start wishing for sweet Sammy again. So I was happy that they didn't make Sam completely souless for the rest of the season.

-Vampire Dean. Should have had him as a vampire for longer I would've been really interested to see the lore on vampires expanded but I get why they didn't drag it on. Still cool as hell though!

What I didn't like:

-Balthazar's Death. Yes he is no longer with us but damn it he left an impression. Just another unfair angel death thrown in to the pile (Hi Gabriel). Why is this show allergic to utilizing their own characters to the best of their abilities???

-Samuel Campbell. Some episodes were rough to sit through cause I found this man so annoying. I know they explained why but I still kept asking myself, why bring him back?? I guess he did what he was supposed to in his role of being an asshole with a warped perception of family and dealing with Crowley. I get it but still just he pissed me off.

-Dragons. If you're going to waste their potential then why introduce them at all, moving on.

Something I feel iffy about:

-Eve. While they got me to sympathize with her motives to protect her children, I couldn't find her all that compelling. Maybe it's the performance, writing, or lack of screen time, I'm not too sure but I wish she had made a lasting impression. That could have something to do with everything else going on in this season that had her storyline lacking focus. Castiel v.s. Raphael, Sam's mental wall falling apart, Castiel and Crowley working together and having to reveal everything so late in the season. There was a missed opportunity with Eve to make her mark as an interesting and intimating villain but oh well I can just shrug this one off.

Anyway, because I jumped immediately to season 7 before making this review, I do know that season six isn't the worst season. It has plenty of weak spots but it still had iconic and enjoying moments that I would easily come back to watch. Now someone out there spam me with Supernatural content cause ranking season 7 is gonna be rough.

As he walked down the hallway to your classroom there you were in the room, with only about a couple of students in there chattering and also getting ready to leave, you had a tired expression on your face as if you had extra hard training today which, made him feel so bad but he can't help but think how hot you look with your eyes half-lidded and your hair drooping down a bit you look so adorable right now he cam just pick you up and take you back to his dorm and cuddle for the rest of the night

With a cheeky smile, he quietly went into the class and sneaked up behind you, holding back his giggles. He then gently covered your eyes with his hands. "Guess who?" You yelped before you started giggling. "C'mon, I know who you are,, not get off me!" You tried to get his hands off, but he wouldn't budge, "Not until you answer!" You scoffed rolling your eyes at the playful boy untill you thought of a funny answer

He felt his heart break a little he hated this feeling of envy and jealousy he hated that this person was causing him to feel like this especially if their trying to take his beloved friend away from him, he's gonna have to put a stop to this for it to just be you and him and to get rid of these negative feelings

hello, may I ask where are you reading the newest chapters of tcf in english? i've seen screens on your page up to 300+ chapters and on eatapplepies chapters are only up to 200... (part 2 ofc).

Also, what do you think of part 2 in general? I was hesitant to start it since I've heard some negative opinions, is it true there's barely any heartwarming interactions between characters like those from part 1?

I read the raws on Kakaopage and translate it with google translate.

As for me I am thoroughly enjoying part 2 so much! It's been great so far in my opinion and the character interactions are just as I expected.

I think people were disappointed because the Soos didn't have a more "touching" reunion but for me their reunion fits with their feelings right now. They still haven't completely opened up about their feelings about LSH and CJS death and the fact that both of them jave been watching over KRS all this time. Right now they're just content with being reunited again.

Also there were a lot of touching interactions for example between Choi Han and Choi Jung Soo, Sherrit and the Dragon Half Blood, lots of Dad Cale and his children averaging 10-years-old, there was this touching moment of of Lock saying that Cale felt like a father to him, bext arc is going to be more Alberu centred, there was this funny moment where Cale had to give a speach in front of a whole academy and Alberu and Sui Khan were laughing at him because he REALLY didn't want to give that speach, etc.

Also we have gotten a lot of new characters that are instantly becoming some of my favourites like our beloved Heavenly Demon! And honestly because a lot of different genres are being uncluded as Cale travels to different worlds the spoilers I get to give people just keep getting more and more confusing it's hilarious🤣🤣🤣

The ancient oaths must be spoken again, but it's not just inhabitants of the Cosmere that can bond with a Spren this time! No, in this timeline, the floodgates have been opened! Anyone and everyone is eligible. Tony Stark/Iron Man, Mario "Jumpman" Mario, Izuku Midoriya, Frodo Baggins, even Darth Vader, any character from any piece of media has the opportunity to become a member of the Knights Radiant!

However, the Spren aren't entirely sure about some of these. After all, they barely know these people. So they've come to you all, the fair people of Tumblr, to give them advice on who should be allowed to join!

On this blog, you will see a series of polls! Each will have a character's name and franchise. The four options that you will have available will be as follows!

The Nahel Bond Would Help Them

These are the people whose lives would be genuinely improved by bonding with a Spren of some Order. Your reasons for saying this can be as varied as you want. Would the person be able to work through things they have a hard or impossible time working through in canon? Great! Would they just like the company? Awesome! Do you just want to see them fly? Heck yeah! If the character ends with this, the Spren Will Bond with the character! More on that in a moment!

The Nahel Bond Wouldn't Affect Them

These characters would be fundamentally unchanged if they had a Spren. Whether this is because they don't really have a need for a therapy fairy, or they're able to work through their issues just fine without them, you're the judge. If the character ends with this, the Spren Will Not Bond With The Character. No need to bond with someone who doesn't need you.

The Nahel Bond Would Make Them Worse (Positive)

These characters are the ones that, for some reason or another, you think would be chaos incarnate as a Radiant, but it would be funny. Maybe they'd be an absolute menace with Surges, maybe they'd corrupt their Spren irreversibly by being an absolute gremlin, who knows? This one was very divisive among the Spren, the Highspren, Honorspren, and Peakspren were very against accepting these people, but the Cryptics managed to convince the entire council that they should accept these. The Spren Will Bond With These Characters! Even if it's reluctantly on some of them!

The Nahel Bond Would Make Them Worse (Negative)

These characters should not be given a Spren under any circumstances. Whether this is because they would use the power for malevolent means, would only be broken by any attempt to help them through their traumas, or some other reason, The Spren Will Not Bond With These Characters.

For the sake of this poll, we are assuming that every character would be able to speak the Words and at least become a Radiant of roughly 2nd or 3rd Ideal. If they're the kind who would excel as that Order, that's up to you to decide in whatever means you have (No but seriously if you do fanart or write a fic about the resulting character as a Radiant you have my full permission to @ this blog and I'll reblog it).

If a character is accepted, a follow up poll will be held for the same amount of time as the original poll. This will have all orders available, listed in order of Stormlight Archive book. Hello resident Eridan expert! 0u0 I was wondering if you thought he might get on well with Aradia? Thank you for your time!

Actually yes! In moderate doses. After Eridan's character development. The list I like to keep of his platonic friends, from most to least close to him, is like.

Nepeta -> Dirk -> Feferi -> Vriska -> Aradia -> Other

So I already talked about how he and Nepeta seem like they'd actually make for really good friends - the Heart player who can't help but see the good in him, and Eridan liking nice people and the fact that the two of them have a lot in common. I've also made mention before about how I think he and Dirk would have an extremely lethargic, almost transactional bro-ship where they sometimes beat each other to death. A completely neutral friendship, where they do not make each other better OR worse, they just help each other take the edge off the Prince Ennui. Using extreme violence.

He and Feferi are also not so different, and, honestly, they're childhood friends. She's pretty fond of him, and he's TOO fond of her, but after his character development and he fully gets over her, I think they'd be perfectly decent friends. He and Vriska have much the same deal, but I think their personalities mesh slightly worse than his and Feferi's.

If you're wondering why Kanaya isn't on this list, it's because she hates his dumb ass and always has. I think Eridan thinks he's really good friends with Kanaya. Kanaya has literally never respected Eridan even a little bit. Same with Rose. It's really funny.

So Aradia is kind of the last person out of the characters that I think I'd emphatically call "Eridan's Friend." Everyone covered in "other" tends to be people who are everybody's friend (like John) or basically tolerant of his behavior in small doses (like Dave).

With Aradia specifically, there's a few factors to consider; first of all, she has a pretty negative view of highbloods in general, calling them "hateful sn0bs" at one point. She's a lot more tolerant as the stewardess of the afterlife, because Alternia's gone and everyone else is dead, but I think it should still stand that she'd be sensitive to anti-casteist sentiment, since casteism colored so much of her life back when she was, y'know, alive.

But the reason I think they'd work as friends is because Aradia has a bluntness and straightforwardness about her that happens to mesh well with Eridan's suite of issues. He's actually fairly easy to manage if you're fully honest with him and set and maintain very clear boundaries, because he doesn't catch social cues, but also doesn't really see naked hostility, bluntness, or aggression as bad things.

And Aradia can be viciously sarcastic, but her natural tendency is to be very blunt and honest and call things the way she sees them. This means that if she's ever too annoyed by Eridan, she will let him know that as bluntly as humanly possible, and then happily fuck off, with Eridan generally no worse for the wear (although he may have a negative reaction in the moment. But Aradia's self-possessed enough to not really give a shit as long as she's not in the wrong).

The main issue between them is that I think Aradia would believe Eridan IS a nasty, casteist highblood, unless somehow given reason to interact with him for an extended period of time. Eridan didn't really talk to the lowbloods, and the two generally had no reason to interact, so she'd basically have no reason NOT to believe him when he starts spewing bullshit. Moreover, Eridan's the type of aggressive idiot that would outright admit that if they'd FLARPed together, there was every chance she'd wind up orphaned or dead (this is just a neutral fact to him), and then comment that maybe it wouldn't have mattered because she wound up dead anyway (again, just a neutral observation to him). Writing Eridan mostly consists of coming up with words that make you cringe.

Aradia is smart enough that I think any extensive conversation or time spent with him would make her realize how performative his casteist stuff is, and how little he actually cares about blood color. Since she generally never had reason to interact or care about him before (not even her friends are friends with him), this would pretty much shift her opinion from "idgaf about him, seems like a snob like the rest of the highbloods" to "oh... he's funny as hell. what's wrong with him".

Once she figures out that he genuinely doesn't mean any harm or offense by the awful dumb shit he says, I think she'd be willing to engage with him on mutual interests (they both FLARPed, so they're presumably both roleplayers, and they could probably bond over death - something Eridan is unfortunately obsessed with and Aradia doesn't have many discussion partners over). Emotionally, she'd probably keep him at arm's length - he has a lot of Issues and Problems, and she's not really interested in helping him handle them (she doesn't really bother with trying to cheer people up on the bubbles so much as just explaining what they can do now that they're dead, and letting them make their own decisions). Not that she isn't a nice person, but I do think it'd just be kind of difficult for her to have too much sympathy for a guy whose problems were largely caused by being too aristocratic.

But, like, she would also pretty happily call him "her friend," because she always cuts it short when it gets too real for her, minimizing her negative experiences with him. I think eventually, like training a dog, Eridan would figure out that Aradia is just Not The Friend For That, so it'd become less of a problem as time goes on.

She thinks he's ridiculous and funny, calls him up when she wants to infodump on someone and her usual buddies aren't around, and I think they'd play good DnD together with Nepeta and Vriska. Yeah I know Vriska killed her but she killed Vriska so they're even. The energy at the table is deeply weird but Eridan wouldn't notice and Aradia would get a kick out of it, leaing poor Nepeta to suffer it alone.

Anyway, I love that Eridan's assortment of platonic friendships is so haphazard. Nepeta AND Feferi, who hate each other. Vriska AND Aradia, who killed each other. And also Dirk is there. He's the DM.

I've been watching these creeps for a while now, I even shared it to my ex at the time who is British, he told me they were crazy as hell and that David and Georgia were just having fun and teasing each other, that ingrav woman gets on my nerves, it's like she's never been in a loving relationship ever, especially when you and that person have been married for years.

She doesn't understand how dynamics between pairings work at all and is very hateful and negative towards David & Georgia, especially she is very misogynistic towards Georgia, I don't remember if it was her or one of her pawns but I remember such a disgusting post about Georgia giving birth again, the poster posted in the tags said and I quote: "this b#tch just never stops pu$$y bragging" it made me feel so disgusted, this user said such thing about a mother who just gave birth, it's like their reality breaks when they learn David & Georgia love each other so much and love their family.

It's horrifying to me to witness so much misogyny towards this woman who has never said anything problematic and just loves posting pictures on Instagram about her family, Georgia had her first baby when she was a teen if I recall and was a single mother, I cannot imagine how happy she felt when David accepted her baby and did not ice the baby out or abuse the baby or was creepy towards the baby. I know many single mothers fear this kind of scenario but sadly it still sadly happens.

How can they have no empathy for her, but love putting their insane conspiracy theories, misogyny, etc on display, how can they sleep at night? I know Georgia searches her name sometimes on social media I wonder if she has seen these types of posts degrading and if she has it makes me sad for her, I hope she hasn't.

I saw that post of that user with the Rose Tyler pfp, I immediately got suspicious because for years delusional tenrose fans have been saying they have affairs all the times they meet and even when he first married Georgia, similar to the other creeps, I searched this users posts to see if they were really like those tenrose fans but I didn't see anything but the way this user tags their stuff is very convoluted anyways.

You're 10000% right. Most of these haters seem to be the kind of people who don't have any real fulfilling relationships in their own life. I'm no psychology expert but it does begin to seem that they try to compensate for their own bland lives by projecting onto other people, especially famous people. Perhaps it springs from their desire to feel some kind of entitlement over those people's lives when in reality they know nothing about them. Perhaps it makes them feel special. or less lonely. Idk.

like you said the level of misogyny against Georgia is insane and has been so since day one. Sadly most of these creeps who say disgusting sh!t about her are women and it does make me wonder how ingrav and the rest of her cronies would feel like if someone made that kind of remark about them.

They're always trying to undermine the things that Georgia's been through. Being a single mother at such a young age, giving birth when you're a teenage and then raising a child is a terribly hard task for anyone. Recently I had been getting really tired of this charade and I kinda lowkey wished he'd say something that'd shut up these creeps. And then...... I realised that he has. He does, every day. Like him saying.... everyone who's not my wife turns me off. Or that of all the people in all of history he'd love to have a meal with her and only her. All of this is a big F-U to anyone who thinks they're not in love. Oh but no! When he does say this it's always going to be "she was holding a gun to his head" "he was sitting in a church and she was in the audience so he couldn't say anything else" "she literally branded him" (ew). For the love of god. You're telling me that a man who champions for people's right to be who they are and love who they want to would be scared to come out??? Their explanation: Because it would ruin his career. NO! It didn't ruin Billie Eilish or Chappell Roan or Angelina Jolie's career and they work in Hollywood. Everyone knows that the British industry is very open and kind when it comes to queer artists. I mean it didn't ruin Mark Gattis or Andrew Scott's career did it? Don't fink so.

i just found out the next arc of warrior cats is going to have tawnypelt x crowfeather and at first it was just funny but now im in the minority camp that really likes the idea. idk why ppl are automatically deciding that its another instance of warrior cats misogyny. not that that isnt still a problem with these books but this in particular feels like an attempt to do the exact opposite. have we ever seen a she-cat in the books thats been anything but completely devoted to a dead mate while toms get to move on again and again? and its tawnypelt that first decides SHE might have feelings for crowfeather. in almost every other instance of a romance being introduced its always been the tom deciding hes in love and the she-cat just falling in line with it

and like yeah, another romance plot, but guys i seriously need you to get with the program when i say the erins want to write romance. they are old british women who yearn to be writing romance but have ended up in a corner where they also have to be writing about cats bc thats their job. warrior cats is to a large degree about romance because of this even if it should probably be about literally anything else. just how it is

Yeap as I've said I'm in school so that's still in progress, I have completely no idea what I'm doing everyday and as it turns out no time to worry about it either I got deadlines baby!!!

I mean in theory I understand but it's all a big question mark to me, like i need to be reassured like a nervous dog that I'm doing the right thing and what not

And because of that I'm real sorry about pushing the Abacelsus zine to the back burner, I actually got quite a lot of it done before I had to lock in for school of course.

And though I said I had a lot of sketches I didn't post well they were shittier than I liked them to be so I wanted to make it look nicer. Oh well dems the breaks.

Another screenie of my school work, they didn't really go into depth about how to specifically design stuff so it's basically me frankenstien-ing stuff I've seen existing and just trying my best lol

I mean.. overall it's funnnn... i guess... I do like projects but everyone in my class are adults with established jobs or goals. Even those who are around my age seem to know what they're aiming for too, feels like I'm an unemployed little sucker fumbling in the dark. Can be humiliating I won't lie, why is learning something new so embarrassing?

Aside from that I'm seeing people be so social online while studying too and it's almost mesmerizing, it's definitely survivor bias but those that can balance it are fascinating to me.

I just wanna gush bc omg I love the 666 series so much. I think it made me realize I might be... furry-ish? adjacent? I just find it so satisfying how you go into detail about the unique body features of both of them, the way it feels to have deer ears or kiss a TV and just generally how much thought is put into the way their bodies work, and I've realized that my interest in that kind of idea is a pretty good reason to partake in more explicitly furry media lmao. Anyways

I'm also really in love with how you maintain the balance of each of their personality traits. Vox is simultaneously so pathetic and cringefail (also your dialogue for him is perfect, I can hear it crystal clear in my head) but also he has vastly more emotional intelligence than Alastor, no doubt at least in part because he has to deal with Val, and he's able to marginally calm down with his obsession to deal with sticky situations, but even then he still retains his personality and bumbles things sometimes because of the flaws in said personality! It's great. I also really appreciate the balance you've struck with Alastor, I feel like often Alastor is either written to either soften up so immediately that it feels disconnected from his character or is written overly mean and heartless for my liking and the way you've written him is such a delicious balance between softer aspects such as the prey instincts or moments of vulnerability and his untouchable and manipulative self, and also the way this side of him is neither written as wholly a front or wholly his real nature and the complex ways this makes him struggle with his increasing vulnerability. TL;DR arghgr your characterization is so good it makes me go a little feral

Also while I'm here, I'm curious whether you can give an answer to the degree to which Alastor is touch-averse. There's obviously a lot of ways in which he fundamentally dislikes touch but it also seems like there's at least some kinds of touch where he doesn't dislike the touch itself so much as he's afraid of the way it brings about feelings of caring and/or enjoyment being cared for. I'm curious how much, in general, you would say his touch aversion comes from either cause and possibly what kinds of touch do/don't provoke those flavors of aversion

And ahaha - I'm not a furry but I fucking love inhuman characters. Being raised in the pits of Homestuck fantroll RP made me enjoy the whole "they're bug/fish aliens" thing and it definitely rears its head again any time I encounter characters with inhuman qualities. I love writing Vox's TV/computer-ness and Alastor's deer and radio bits, and integrating them into who they now are as people.

As for Alastor's touch-aversion: It's funny that you ask about this, because the next chapter of 666 is going to dive into it a bit. Specifically into the fact that it's not, like, a set of boundaries that is consistently defined, and I write him that way on purpose. The very first time he and Vox sleep together, Alastor bottoms. He becomes significantly less amenable to touch after he goes through an uncomfortable rut cycle that gets sexual. By the time Vox convinces Alastor to fuck him, Alastor would never let Vox do that again and frankly only agrees to topping because Vox gave him an option that didn't involve getting his dick out. Then in the next episode, they're having clothes-off sexual contact. So, what gives?

Things that play into Alastor's willingness to touch and be touched as far as Vox is concerned:

How does he see Vox at that point in time? Disgustingly entitled (ew)? Hilariously beneath him (haha who cares)?

Does he care about what Vox thinks of him? Does Vox touching him draw his attention to positive or negative assumptions he has about Vox's perspective on doing so?

What value has he attached to this particular touch in the power balance of their relationship? Is he humoring Vox? Does he assume Vox thinks he's owed this? Does he perceive it as something Vox is genuinely doing for him?

Has he tried this particular kind of touch before? He's pretty willing to experiment, but that doesn't mean he'll do something twice without a compelling reason if he didn't like it the first time.

Is he getting off on this situation sexually? If so, is it fully willing (read: not a byproduct of uncomfortable hormones) on his part? That only really happens when he's in a submissive role and Vox is hitting a few very specific kinks, a major one of which is basically CNC tilted 30 degrees to the left.

Is he enjoying the touch in platonic ways? How does he feel about that? Is it a vulnerability to want something? Is it feeding his ego to be catered to? Is he worried that what he enjoys platonically is being read into in ways he doesn't like?

Is he fucking drunk? Things that bother you when sober often seem like a non-issue when you're not, both on a physical and emotional level.

How much touching has been happening recently? Has he hit his limit? Did he deliberately put himself into a situation earlier to have his limit be hit and surpassed, and now he's in the aftermath?

He does have a certain fundamental purely physical dislike of touch, but it's something that is really affected by how he perceives each individual situation as well as his relationship with Vox at that time, and his previous experiences!

My reaction can be summarised as this (yet again):

I don't have many thoughts because uh. That was depressing as hell and I need to stare at a wall.

But I DO gotta say that the subplot with the dead "wife" was so telenovela-esque that for a good minute it was more funny than depressing. Then it got depressing. But it was so jarring and so far out of the left field that for a good second my friend and I had to pause the audiobook and laugh because ????????? Unhinged to just appear, go "I am Eslin, I have a G U N. My secret wife was killed. By my boss. Now I yearn for sweet sweet revenge." and not elaborate. Like. Damn dude ok. Sorry about our wife also. Fucking killed me that he continued like "So anyway I reacted adequately by killing all of my boss' friends. Starvation style." Like ???? Jjhsgdjsdfghsjdfh what????? I mean damn I do respect the grind set but also that's such an absurd escalation out of context. Did your boss kill your wife? Kill all of his friends! And in context the most absurd part is probably the notion that Visser 3 has friends??????? Like??? Wait no Eslin. Eslin wait. I love your John Wick-esque "fridged wife" trope swag but you need to slow down. I need details. I need you to tell me HOW your boss even has friends.

In my heart I do not believe we will see that madman ever again but on god I do wish for an insane telenovela-esque sequence of him just showing up at the most random moment to do exactly one thing and that's to pull a gun on Visser 3. For no reason, I just think it would be kinda funny. Like,,,did your boss kill your wife?:

Attempt to make the local Andalite youth assassinate your boss for you

Aside from that, I also need to say that the moment when Ax called Tobias his close friend at the end was so sweet. Also ngl kinda...concerning/harrowing how much Tobias really doesn't give a shit about not being a human. Like it doesn't seem so concerning from other points of view but the way Ax gets increasingly weirded out by Tobias not asking him about the nothlit (idk if I'm spelling that right rn) really reminds you that it IS kinda worrying. Like I get it, I mean...Tobias has no family that cares about him, he has no friends outside of the Animorphs friend group, why would he care? But it's still kinda...yeah.

Also unimaginably surprised by the amount of collective guilt present in the Andalite society. You'd think they're Catholic or something the way they keep beating themselves up and force everyone to also beat themselves up and their system itself is saturated with the guilt and shame and they teach it to kids at school from an early age. Like. Jesus Christ calm down. Stop that. As the Animorphs said at the end of the book - the Andalites made an oopsie once. It sucked, yes, it continues to have consequences that suck, yes, but it happens. Sometimes you think you're doing something kind and it turns into a disaster. That does not mean you should beat yourself up for it or, god forbid, tell other people that they should not be kind lest they make a mistake. Damn I guess we should all be cold assholes forever, huh? I'm sure that can't have any negative consequences.

Andalite society in general seems kinda unhinged. Like...do I get why it is like that? Yeah. But do I find it unhinged? Also yeah. Like ok duty and the collective being the most important things is totally sensible for a prey animal. Safety of the herd and all that. But it's still kinda unhinged that they do make everyone have duty as their number 1 priority and that they have rituals devoted to it. Not all rituals are spiritual or religious in nature, but the morning ritual is kinda...borderline religious in a way. More spiritual than religious, I suppose, but yeah.

Also I love Ax so much. 10/10 character. He has it all: an incredibly hilarious desire for cinnamon buns, the inability to act like a human being (same dude), spitting random facts at completely random times, a thirst for blood only a 13(?) years old could have, a dysfunctional obsession with duty and doing what is right that only a 13(?) years old could have (also lol yeah dude I was like that when I was 13 too. dw you'll grow out of it), he can even code. And he might even be bi (I'm joking but I' referring to the fact that he was like "Yeah so when I morph into a human form I suddenly agree that Rachel is beautiful and that Marco is cute.").

Some stuff about me that I've been meaning to get off my chest below the cut (sad stuff in the beginning and happier at the end. If you're worried about the blog, don't worry, I'll still be here but definitely going to be posting much slowly when school starts):

Hey all, so it’s taking me some courage to tell you all this, but I've been struggling for the past few months trying to stay positive. You might be thinking, "What? You always seem happy when you post." And most of the time I am, but sometimes that's just what I want you to think, so you think I have everything under control. More importantly, I didn't want to lose the community I have on here or to make anyone worry. I don't like to talk much about my life here and even irl with other people unless I have to. So, I keep these sad, negative thoughts to myself. Have been for a few years now, actually. But now... they're starting to catch up to me, and last semester was the lowest point of my life. Failure after failure and it hurt. The self-doubt about my abilities and the loneliness. It was painful. It felt like I had lost everything. The only thing keeping me together was texting my irl bestie and you all. That's why I never told any of you... or even my irl bestie. I was scared of losing you all and them. You have expectations from me to deliver great tickle fics. I see the number of notes on my fics, and I'm happy they're increasing as I post. But I get scared, too. As I get better, you will expect as good quality or better, that's what my thinking is. If I deliver something and it flops, I feel like you'll lose interest. I know I can't please everyone, but I feel like I need to. It's ingrained in me to worry about what others think of me. Even with my bestie. Even though we have so much history together, I feel like one screw up by me, and it's over. I'll lose them forever. I have presented the most perfect version of myself over the years, but nobody knew what suffering and fear I carried inside. Now it's affecting me into adulthood and the dream I had to become an engineer became dimmer last semester.

On another note, before I come to a happy ending to this post. Reblogs. I feel bad for not leaving any comments on a tickle work I like. And leaving something small like, "I love this :)" feels too short to me because I was always taught to elaborate on comments and I try to incorporate that online and it felt like a chore or I was trying to hard. I do want to leave a small comment, but I feel that you, as a creator, will think I'm lazy or something or don't mean it. As an author, I actually really like those short comments as much as the long ones. Heck, keyboard smash if you want. That tells me, one, you are flustered from the tickles, two, you’re jealous of the characters being the ler or lee, or three, it's funny to me to see your reactions. To me, that means I did my job right as the writer because I also feel similar emotions like that too from my writing 😅. I sidetracked, didn't I, oops. So, about me commenting on others' work, I feel awkward commenting but if I start reblogging a lot of stuff without commenting, I feel bad and kinda look like a weirdo to creators and to you all who follow me getting a bunch of notifications and not wanting to see the stuff I reblog. I also have self-doubt when reading other tickle fics, too, like they are better than mine, and I go into a spiral, and yeah. I know we all have unique styles, but I can't help compare myself to someone else's ruler. There I go worrying again, huh? It's just in my nature, and idk how to get rid of it.

Lastly, yes, there is some happiness and solace I found thanks to my irl bestie. To keep it short, I hung out with him a few days ago (we only see each other after every semester), got the courage to tell him everything that's been bothering me, we talked about it and I learned some stuff I didn't even now about him (he's always happy and joyful when I see him so it was a surprise), had a new goal for myself to work with him in the future (he's becoming an engineer too) it should keep me motivated to strive to be better in school, got tickled by his dogs (I've never been tickled before believe it or not and let me tell you, it's an amazing, giddy feeling trying to fruitlessly defend yourself from a dog's licks but failing miserably. And then catching your breath when you think the dogs had their fun only for them to just start licking you affectionately again. It's even worse if your best friend took a few pictures of you and you look absolutely lame and stupid 😭. But it was fun!), got to tickle him too and he tickled me back (looks like we're both shy lers 🙃, he's not in the tk community btw but he knows my love for tickling), and yeah I've never been happier in my entire life. I have a new goal and motivation and even got some inspiration and drive to write some tickles!

So, that's what's going on behind the scenes in my world and I really want to get back more into tickling and start reblogging and liking more stuff because there is a lot of good stuff I've been missing out just at a glance.

I still have to do my 2024 year in review and Scara's birthday fic along with some wip stuff that I might not finish in time. Plus, showcase to all of you Aether and his lovers house in my Serenitea Pot. Not to mention school starting again on the 21st 😩.

Some of the critiques I see for "This Isekai Maid is Forming A Union" are so weird because they're not even actual critiques but just "how dare you critique this thing I like".

One of the more ridiculous ones I saw was someone saying that the story "hated white people" which is an interesting takeaway because imagining watching "Hidden Figures" and then saying that the movie just hated white people. (Mind you the movie added a scene to make a white character look good for a white savior moment)

If the story just hated white people, it would’ve featured Bridgette kicking Sadie out on her ass without ever trying to help her.

But the story’s whole thing is that NO ONE deserves to have their humanity stripped from them.

The story focuses on how this system meant to protect the white people of this universe, also constantly fails them and in many cases leaves them ripe to be abused and discarded by the system that they have been taught is meant for them.

A story that just "hates white people" is not going to give white characters that depth. Marinus would not get any depth, Sadie wouldn't get any depth, Phoebe wouldn't get any depth and even side Teffrah characters wouldn't get depth.

And it's a wild ass statement because if that's "hating white people" then Otome Isekai and RoFan hate women since we wanna just say shit.

The main premise of the abuse being centered around protagonists slapping their maids is presented as if the author is just making strawmans when the author gives examples every time (at least on Tapas, I don't know if it's the same for the WebToon version). It's not a matter of the author making it up, it's a matter of how much do you excuse these actions because the protagonist is the one doing it? Because the protagonist gives you THEIR reason for doing it?

And let's be real, many RoFan and Otome Isekai fans DO let the protagonist's actions dictate their morality. Yes, there is author intention but there's also reader comprehension and (again if we're being real) a lot of folks in these fandoms dodge understanding a point of a story or certain characters like it's the fucking plague.

I sat through 100+ chapters of people hating Helena from "Kill the Villainess" for no reason other than a innate hatred for white lotus characters. Mind you, Helena isn't even a white lotus character, she's literally just a kind person.

Even with Not Your Typical Reincarnation Story, people already decided to hate Rhyse before she even fucking did anything. I saw more disdain for Rhyse in the beginning than Cliff which is wild cause Cliff was being suspect WAY before Rhyse.

"But they have to slap their maids to survive"

Do they though?

We're talking about settings where workers had little to no rights. You can just fire them. And if the character is committing to having a villainous persona than set them up to be fired. There really is NO excuse for a protagonist you're meant to sympathize with (and yes many of these stories want you to sympathize with these protagonists because they had hardships) to inflict hardships on others.

The story is asking if this is really survival?

That's the question and some of y'all are more mad that the answer might be "no".

Their "survival" leaves people ruined.

I love Rita in Depths of Malice but that's mainly because the story NEVER pretends she's a good person just trying to get by. Someone could read her that way but they'd be wrong. She constantly goes out of her way to be a bitch under the guise of being an airhead. She's pretending to be a well meaning person because it's beneficial to getting what she really wants. The story admits that her survival is literally HER survival, she doesn't care about anyone else.

I saw someone say "but many of these leads are illegitimate children with no rights" and you think the working class has more rights than them??????

Bestie being "poor" in the Beverly Hills is still better than being poor in Skidrow.

Jon Snow from ASOIAF is a good example of this. For as much as he whines that his life was hard because he was a bastard, he still lived a MUCH better life than commoners. He doesn't live in the Riverlands, he has never known what it's like to go hungry, he's even treated more humanely than most other noble bastards despite how Catelyn hates him. Hell, he's lived a more cushioned life than his parallel character, Danerys Targaryen, who starts her story being sold off by her brother.

Jon's awakening is him realizing that he doesn't really know what a bad fucking day is.

Yet despite coming from places where workplace abuse is common especially if you're a woman, these protagonists don't have ANY qualms about it.

That's when you have to ask, why are you being just like your own abusers?

And that question is answered through characters like Iseul and Phoebe. Phoebe admits she likes the power dynamics and she initially presents it as if "she has no choice" but to also be racist and classist when in reality, she had plenty of choices to be a better person and she continuously chose not to because she liked having power over people.

While Iseul initially goes this direction she receives a wake up call. She was fully ready to get in on this on the idea that the maids wouldn't know how to fight back. But when Bridgette does, Iseul realizes that not only that she's no better than her bullies and she strives to make amends for what she's done.

Also for many of these RICH ASS NOBLEWOMEN, their survival stops being having stakes when the easy answer is "sell your jewelry and run". It's the reason I like characters like Deborah from "The Perks of Being Villainess" and Edith from "Not Your Typical Reincarnation Story" because that's literally their plans.

Even in settings where the story makes it a point to tell readers that women can't have their own bank accounts, running away with the money from your sold jewelry is STILL an option.

Unless the situation is that the story is literally going to compel you to come back and fulfill the role you were given in the story, then there really is nothing tying these protagonists to these people that are ready and willing to kill them other than them not wanting to be poor.

But again, being Beverly Hills "poor" and being Skidrow poor are two different things.

In the same way I think critiques of The Remarried Empress where it "fails political story telling" doesn't work because that's not the base of the story (GUYS THE MAIN EMPIRES DON'T HAVE ACTUAL FUCKING NAMES, EVEN DYNASTY KNEW TO GIVE THE COMPANIES THE CHARACTERS WERE RUNNING NAMES AND THESE SHOWS AREN'T EVEN OFFICE DRAMAS. LET'S NOT ASK FOR SOUL FOOD FROM A RESTAURANT THAT CLEARLY ONLY SERVES PIZZA.)

These type of "critiques" for "This Isekai Maid is Forming Union" are unfair because it depends on detractors presenting the story as if it's just a story looking to "bully" a genre by pretending the author just "doesn't understand" these stories.

But the best deconstruction stories are the ones where the creator clearly likes the thing they're deconstructing. And you can always tell when they don't because there would be no depth to the characters or the plot or the world building.

For instance, you can tell that the Wayans Bros like horror movies and Blacksploitation movies despite how "Scary Movie" and "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka" seems to be making fun of them.

Movies like "Vampires Suck" or "The Starving Games" on the other hand, clearly just have a disdain for Twilight and The Hunger Games for being popular and as such, they can't really make fun of it in a way that's also entertaining.

he seems to be a morning person to me, being a martial artist enthusiast and all. it's part of his routine to wake up early and drag any unfortunate person to his morning exercise and stretches that is soul crushing from how painful it is. also don't even try to sleep through his first call out to you for the morning exercise, he will become your personal rooster so just you can accompany him.

cha hae-in.... i honestly think she's a white cat just to contrast jinwoo but she's more of an angel to be with in general or I'm just biased to girls... anyway she seems more aloof and quiet compared to an orange cat or any dog breed except for a few probably but to me she's a cat from just how she strut in those panels lmfaoo

but he also fits being a border collie! that dog breed is known for herding sheep and protecting stuff! the breed is alert, loyal, and intelligent soo yeah i can also see jinchul being this type of dog too lmfaoo but probably an older one too just seeing how low-key tired he is judging from in game dialogue you can see whenever you meet him inside of the lobby
