Ink Manifestation (Satoru Gojo x Reader): Chapter Six
Satoru and I later became teachers together at the Jujutsu High. The newer first-year students, Maki Zen’in, Panda, and Toge Inumaki, brought a fresh energy to our classes. Each of them showed remarkable talent and potential in their own unique ways, reminding me why I became so passionate about teaching jujutsu in the first place.
Satoru had met up with the higher ups about some kid potentially being brought to the school. Maki, Panda, and Inumaki were gathered with me in the classroom, waiting for Satoru's arrival to introduce the new student. Rumors had already started circulating about the boy's troubled past. He had apparently stuffed four of his fellow classmates into a locker, a complete cover-up was being done, and they were planning on executing the boy.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and Satoru strode in with his usual flair, drawing everyone's attention. "Students of all grades, we have a new student! Give him a hand!" he announced enthusiastically, his voice echoing through the room.
Maki rolled her eyes, leaning back in her chair. "I heard the kid’s a real wet blanket. The last thing I need is another moody rookie to look after," she remarked with a hint of annoyance.
"Salmon," Inumaki concurred solemnly, nodding in agreement with Maki's sentiment.
I glanced at the three of them, sensing their skepticism. "Be welcoming, please. He's been through a lot lately," I reminded them softly, hoping to ease any initial judgments they might have.
"You can come on in now!" Satoru's voice boomed through the closed door, prompting Yuta to slide it open cautiously and step inside. As he entered, a palpable aura of cursed energy surrounded him, causing my eyes to widen in slight shock. Perhaps I should have met him beforehand, I thought, taken aback by the overwhelming presence of the curse hanging on him.
Yuta walked nervously to the front of the room to introduce himself. "I'm Yuta," he managed to say before Maki swiftly threw her weapons next to his head, startling him visibly. The other two, Panda and Inumaki, also tensed up, ready to react. I couldn't blame them; Satoru hadn't properly warned us about the intense curse presence Yuta carried.
Despite the initial tension, Yuta stood there quietly, his demeanor unsure yet somehow resilient. He had a slender build and tousled dark hair, and his eyes held a mixture of apprehension and determination. His presence exuded a raw, untamed power that seemed both dangerous and intriguing.
"Is this some kind of test?" Maki demanded, her eyes narrowed suspiciously at Satoru and me. She turned her attention back to Yuta, her tone firm. "Hey. Don’t you know you’re cursed? This is a place to learn about curses, not a place for the cursed to be hanging around."
Satoru's expression turned serious as he began to explain. "The number of people who die mysterious deaths or go missing in Japan averages over 10,000 a year. Many of these incidents aren't accidents but are caused by curses, born from negative emotions. Some of the worst cases are caused by curse users themselves. Only curses can affect other curses. This school is where we learn how to exorcise them. Welcome to Tokyo Jujutsu High School."
Yuta and the other students listened in shock at Satoru's revelation, and I couldn't hide my surprise either. "Why are you just explaining this to him now?" I interjected, unable to contain my disbelief.
"My bad," Satoru replied casually, earning an eye-roll from me. "Now, everyone, you might want to step back."
"Huh?" The students chorused in confusion, just as two giant, white-clawed arms suddenly burst forth from the chalkboard behind Yuta. One arm effortlessly retrieved Maki’s weapon from the board.
"Do not bully Yuta!" a female voice boomed angrily.
"Stop it, Rika!" Yuta pleaded, trying to calm the unseen entity. Rika flung Maki’s weapon aside and swung one of her massive arms, swatting all the students away before vanishing once more.
The classroom fell into stunned silence, broken only by the sound of desks and chairs scraping as the students hastily scrambled to their feet.
“So, as you can see, this boy was cursed by his friend Rika, who is still madly in love with him. Be nice to him or else Rika will get you!” Satoru explained with a touch of eerie playfulness. “Remember, if you attack Yuta, Rika’s curse will activate, or maybe it won’t. Its hard to say. So be careful everyone!”
“Now he tells us.” Maki muttered under her breath.
“Since these fine students are acting all cool, let me introduce them to you real quick-like.” Satoru continued, gesturing to each of us in turn. “This is the cursed tool user, Maki Zen’in. She uses special tools to exorcize curses.”
Maki remained silent but nodded, her demeanor serious and focused.
“This is the cursed speech user, Toge Inumaki,” Satoru said, moving on to Inumaki. “He can only speak in rice ball ingredients, so have fun chatting.”
“Kelp.” Inumaki greeted with a wave.
“And Panda.” Satoru introduced simply.
“Hi, I’m Panda. It’s nice to meet you.” Panda greeted warmly.
“And this lovely tatted up lady is your other teacher (Y/n) (L/n).” Satoru announced, turning towards me with a flourish. “She’s not just our toughest combat instructor, but also our one and only ink manipulation cursed user.”
I smiled warmly at Yuta, giving him a slight wave. “It’s nice to meet you, Yuta,” I greeted, hoping to ease his nerves with a friendly gesture.
“Okay, you’re all set.” Satoru announced with a clap of his hands, prompting Yuta to join the other students. “All right, then, our first year class is a solid four students.”
“Okay guys, for your afternoon jujutsu practice, you’ll be in pairs of two on two.” I elaborated, addressing the group. “Panda and Inumaki, you’re a team, and Maki and Yuta, you guys are a team.”
Satoru and I eventually took Maki and Yuta to their training mission: exorcising curses in an elementary school and rescuing two missing kids. It was a test to see if Rika would be unleashed and to understand how she operated. We needed to work with something we understood, and this was also an opportunity to properly introduce Yuta to curses and exorcism missions.
“Where are we?” Yuta askes as he looks around the outside of the school.
“It’s just an elementary school.” Satoru replies.
“Well, its an elementary school were some children have gone missing.” I explain further.
“Gone missing?” Yuta asks, shocked.
“It happens a lot in places like this.” I tell Yuta. “Most likely the work of a naturally-occurring curse.”
“Are you saying a curse actually kidnapped some kids?” Yuta asks.
“Yup, two kids so far.” Satoru says as we turn to face the kids.
“Curses tend to settle in spots like these.” Maki explains. “Places where bad memories occurred. Schools, hospitals. Places often remembered with negative emotions are a receptacle for curses. As those emotions build up, they can cause a curse to be born. Like it was here.”
“We’re here to exorcize the curse and save the kids or retrieve them if they didn’t make it.” I explain, mainly to Yuta, Maki knows the drill at this point.
Yuta gasps. “Dead?”
“Emerge from darkness blacker still. Purify that which is impure.” Satoru says, as soon as he finishes the veil starts to slowly form.
“It’s turning into night!” Yuta exclaimed.
“Its a veil, its a barrier of sorts to help smoke out the curses. Also keeping you hidden from the outside.” I explain as Satoru and I walk towards the exit to the school yard.
“Its pretty easy to undo from inside. Do be careful now you two! Try not to die.” Satoru says to the two as we made it outside the veil before it finally finishes dropping.
“Well aren’t you just so encouraging.” I say sarcastically to Satoru, giving him a playful nudge.
Satoru chuckles and looks at me. "You know me. Always the optimist."
I roll my eyes but can't help but smile. "You better hope those kids come out unscathed, or I'll be having words with you."
He raises an eyebrow. "Is that a threat, Ms. (L/n)?"
I lean in closer, smirking. "Consider it a promise, Mr. Gojo."
Satoru laughs and drapes an arm over my shoulder. "I like it when you get all tough. It's cute."
I shake my head, amused. We lean against the car we all came in, eyes trained on the veil, alert for any sign of trouble.
“They’ll be fine you know? You worry too much.” Satoru says, breaking the silence. He stretches his arms above his head, the relaxed motion at odds with the tension in the air.
I glance at him, my arms crossed. "And you worry too little. I mean, you did throw them into the deep end on their first mission."
Satoru shrugs, a grin playing on his lips. "Sink or swim, right? Besides, it's the best way to learn. They'll come out stronger."
I roll my eyes but can't suppress a small smile. "You're impossible, you know that?"
"That's why you love me," he quips.
I shake my head, amused. "Keep dreaming, Gojo."
Suddenly, a splatter of blood hits the veil making me slightly jump. “Oh, someone is jumpy.” Satoru teases.
My face turns slightly red. “I am not! You’re saying that’s not terrifying at all?” I retort, crossing my arms defensively.
Satoru chuckles, clearly amused. “Sure, sure. Just keep telling yourself that.”
I roll my eyes, trying to ignore the warmth in my cheeks. Satoru wasn’t paying attention thankfully, he was more intrigued by Rika.
“Rika Orimoto at her strongest. Impressive special-grade curse.” Satoru chuckles to himself. “So scary.”
“Oh, so you actually agree?” I ask him, my tone tinged with annoyance since he was just teasing me for jumping. The veil finally disappears, revealing Yuta emerging with the unconscious two kids, and Maki close behind him. They were injured, but it didn't look like anything life-threatening.
Satoru and I quickly rushed them all to the hospital, the doctors had told Satoru and me they were all going to be just fine. We stood out in the hallway of the hospital rooms with Yuta.
"Maki and the kids are going to be fine, Yuta," I reassured him, hoping to ease his worries.
"That’s a relief," Yuta replied softly.
"Funny, you don’t look very relieved to me," Satoru chimed in, his tone teasing but observant.
Yuta glanced down at the ring on his hand, lost in thought. "I did it. I managed to call Rika out by myself."
"Oh, really? That’s a big step forward," Satoru praised genuinely.
Yuta seemed to wrestle with his thoughts before his gaze settled on a little boy walking down the hallway. I noticed his contemplative expression and asked, "You okay?"
"Yeah, I was just remembering something," Yuta explained slowly. "I’m starting to think Rika didn’t curse me after all. I think I might have been the one who cursed Rika."
"You very well may be right," Satoru responded, his tone unusually serious. "There’s no curse more twisted than love."
That comment from Satoru struck a chord with me, though I couldn't quite place why. It lingered in the air, heavy with unspoken implications.
"All right then, there’s something I want to learn while I’m at Jujutsu High. I want to break Rika’s curse," Yuta declared, determination gleaming in his eyes.
I notice a male doctor approaching us, and I recognize him from Maki’s hospital room. He looks a bit nervous, but he gathers the courage to speak. "Hey, I just wanted to say, I like your tattoos," he says, his voice almost trembling.
I smile warmly at him, appreciating the compliment. "Thank you. They mean a lot to me."
“So, you’re a teacher, huh?” he asks, trying to make conversation. “Your student really seems to hold you in high regard,” he adds, referring to Maki.
“Yeah, it’s a small class, so I’m very close with my students,” I explain.
“That’s very admirable,” he says, seeming to gain some confidence. He leans against the wall as we continue to talk. Wait, is this guy flirting with me?
Before I can respond, Satoru suddenly steps in, his usual playful demeanor replaced with something else. "Hey, (Y/n), we really need to get going. Important teacher stuff, you know?" His arm casually drapes over my shoulder, his grip just a bit tighter than usual.
The doctor glances at Satoru, then back at me. "You seem like you’re doing a great job. It’s nice to see dedicated teachers."
"Thanks," I say, feeling a bit flustered by the interruption. "It’s rewarding work."
Satoru's smile is tight. "We do our best to keep things interesting." He starts to gently steer me away from the doctor, clearly wanting to end the conversation.
The doctor smiles, his nervousness starting to fade. "Well, I should get back to work. But it was nice talking to you."
"You too," I reply. "Take care."
As the doctor walks away, Satoru keeps his arm around my shoulder, his expression a mix of amusement and something else. "Looks like someone’s got an admirer," he says, but his tone is less teasing and more possessive.
I roll my eyes, trying to hide the slight blush creeping up my cheeks. "Oh, stop it. He was just being nice."
Satoru chuckles softly. "Sure, sure. Just being nice."
"What’s your issue though?" I ask, catching his change in demeanor.
Satoru shrugs nonchalantly. "No issue. Just don’t want any distractions from our important teacher duties."
I raise an eyebrow at him, knowing there’s more behind his protective stance than he’s letting on. "Right. Well, let’s get back to it then."
With a final squeeze of my shoulder, Satoru nods. "Absolutely."

tell me about your daisy girlie i can tell you’re about to burst like a can of soup
i’m mostly curious on how psilirim would affect her, as well as non-psychics. or maybe she was originally a non psychic? i genuinely can’t tell from your post oopsies
but yesssss i love people working in psilirim beyond “makes brain hurt and cause delusions” or whatever rhombus of ruin did. idk i couldn’t play it without crashing because the vr headset i used was ass in a tin
if you’ve already answered something in the same vein ignore this oopsie…. i just immediately wanted to ask before scrolling ur blog
Sorry if this is all a mess, I’m not so good at organizing my thoughts!
I’ve actually tried to put some thought into psilirium, because it’s such a neat rock! But it’s basically just…Psitanium but worse? From what I could glean from the game. And other than ‘psilirium poisoning’ mentioned in the second game (bear with me I haven’t played either in like half a year) it was mostly ignored after Rhombus.
As for how it affects Daisy who yes, was born psychic! The first thing I focused on was its ‘magnetic’ effects when it comes to drawing people towards it. The commune she essentially takes over was formed far before Daisy had even considered running off. And it was formed due to the psilirium drawing people to the area! This quality gives Daisy somewhat of a charismatic edge with all that psilirium getup she’s got on. Call it a ‘magnetic attraction’ but people just seem to like the girl <3!
As for how it affects her psychics, I’m not sure how accurate the ‘fandom wiki’ is but it described psilirium as ‘distorting psychic energy.’ With the only other confirmed effects being “mania, hysteria, hallucinations, suppression of psychic abilities, and paranoia in psychics” (according to the wiki). I figure a handwaving of ‘distorting psychic energy’ is vague enough to let me add my own flair. Suppose it’s somewhat of a souped up version of psitanium the way I have been using it? But with the blatant psychological harm a bit more evident.
When Daisy first arrived psilirium had still been mostly undiscovered in the area, so she hadn’t had too much exposure to it. Some people (rarely) reported having strange hallucinations or unusual dreams, but it was mostly chalked up to the area just being a spiritual hotspot. Occasionally some weird glowing rocks would be found, but with no geologists or psychonauts to identify them, no one really knew what they were and kept them around mainly for their striking appearance. As more and more of the rocks were eventually discovered (or dug up), the effects began to compound.
With worsening mental health abound, as well as the decline of the hippie subculture as a whole into the 70s, many began to leave the commune. This left Daisy desperate, as I think I’ve mentioned before, and not in her right mind, she began to hypnotize the remaining members. Only a few at first but later the commune as a whole (though not on purpose). Those effected would begin subconsciously contributing their mental energy to Daisy, thus making her extremely resistant to the psiliriums negative effects.
That’s great! Because despite her resistance due to her now greatly increased mental energy, her mind was still heavily affected by those neat glowing rocks! She was left somewhat delirious, witnessing hallucinations as well as experiences delusions of grandeur at times. She began to order (like, it was more of a suggestion than an order, man, this is a commune not a dictatorship <3) the rocks be dug up more to aid them in their meditations and spiritual connections. Thus, the commune as a whole became a psilirium hotspot.
This meant Daisy, with her heavily fortified mental energy, was the only one to really be able to effectively use her psychics, with the psilirium’s repression of psychic abilities shown in RoR. Technology in the area bugs out too! So it really is a naturalist ‘utopia,’ at least in Daisy’s eyes.
So that’s! Yeah! Most of my thoughts I think? Idk! Heres also some somehow even less organized thoughts too that I can’t seem to place anywhere well:
There’s kinda just a general vague energy in the air around the commune due to the intense ‘radiation’ from all the unearthed stones
Daisy herself is like! Actually psycho-reactive at this point! Like! A walking hunk of psilirium…on a smaller scale of course. It kinda mixes with her actual psychic energy, making that ‘radiate’ as well. Basically with all that psilirium her hypnosis kinda has the effect of making a certain range of people around her more susceptible to suggestability by her! I wouldn’t call it full hypnosis though.
To add to that, she is constantly (and I do mean just like 100% of the time (except sleep I suppose?)) levitating! Part of the vague ‘radiation’ of her psychics. As well as her generally just being in a great mood thanks to weed and delirium!
The psilirium itself ‘warps’ and amplifies her psychics abilities a bit. It kinda ‘enhances’ them in the sense that there is sooo much psychic energy it’s just bursting to get out.
For example, she’s an Empath of sorts (an ability @spaloonbabooguuscooties came up with for her Franke in our ramblings) but, distorted in a way so that, while she can still somewhat feel what others are feeling, it’s more her forcing her own emotions onto them. Not fully but, they can certainly feel what she is feeling. In addition her ‘sensing’ of emotion isn’t just relegated to having to touch them either! Close enough, in tandem with her rudimentary telepathy, she can basically understand entirely what her ‘followers’ are thinking and feeling! Though it’s partially due to their obvious psychic connection.
Her hypnosis of course was effected, becoming a vague radiation of charisma and charm around her even when not using her own abilities.
Aside from just the constant, constant, use of it, her levitation wasn’t changed much.
Her herbophony hasn’t really changed much either, but some of the plants in the area have become psycho-radioactive as well, giving them a bit of a psychic edge. It allows her better communication with them as well as giving some plants psychic abilities for themselves.
Most of what psilirium has done to Daisy is make an unstable person more unstable and a psychic person more psychic. But in an obvious much worse, much faster, and much more overt way than psitanium. Or at least I hop im that’s how it comes across <3!
#Daisy Daze#psychonauts oc#slowly working through these still!!! the one asking about her ‘wives’ is more difficult since there’s… so much <3#waiting for my wife so patiently to infodump about his Ocs#so I can. in turn. info dump about her Oc in context of my oc

Okay, I had some thoughts on this.
Trigger warning: mention of rape
It's only a brief reference to a canon event, and is not described in detail, but the mention is there, so it seemed important to give the warning.
The actual story ideas are under the break so people can make their judgement calls before they start reading. My reading style is direct-download, and I know it can be irritating to accidentally absorb enough of something to get hooked when I know I shouldn't read the whole thing for mental health reasons.
First off, Jazz and Danny don't get any noticeable powers from Starfire's genes. No flight or energy blasts without ghostly components. No superstrength (at least, not with Jack Bursts-through-walls-like-the-koolaid-man Fenton as the measure of normal). No enhanced durability (not Compared to Maddie Doesn't-notice-the-recoil-from-a-bazooka-half-her-size Fenton).
Now, I'm imagining Team Phantom goes through an entire high stakes story arc before Danny and Jazz's origins come to light.
Sam and Tucker develop powers as liminals.
Some threat crops up that is just too precisely tailored to Danny's weaknesses for him to manage on his own. He's captured. Things are dire.
Jazz recreates Danny's accident. Her friend, Spike, followed her out to where she built her portal because she's been acting off and he's worried as fuck. Spike arrives just in time to stand in front of the portal and watch as she turns it on from the inside. Spike is now in more or less the same boat as Sam and Tucker, albeit at an earlier point in his liminal development. He doesn't have powers right away but he will.
Jazz manages to save Danny (despite being newly dead and still clumsy with her powers), but the two of them together provide enough context for people to start drawing parallels between the Fenton siblings and the Phantom siblings. People are suddenly listening to Wes.
The GIW are going after everyone ghost-adjacent now that they know it's possible. Things are getting dangerous.
Jack and Maddie are on Team Phantom's side. They realize that they've been clinging to wrong-headed ideas. Painful as it might be to realize they poured so much into something they were wrong about, every scientist knows that you discard a hypothesis that's been disproven, and they will protect the kids no matter what. (They might be mad scientists with questionable morals and judgement, but they love their kids with all the ferocity of a hundred mama bears, and nothing will change that.)
Jack and Maddie, together with most of Amity Park, wage guerilla warfare against the GIW and anyone who sides with them. Unfortunately, the GIW have become more of a credible threat over time.
Things reach a tipping point when some of the GIW's agents manage to capture Dani at some truck stop somewhere and the resistance loses some ground getting her out.
Jack and Maddie go out in a blaze of glory buying time for the kids to equip themselves and make a run for it. They manage to direct the kids to a particular set of files before putting everything into a last stand to give the kids time to escape.
Danny, Sam, Tucker, Jazz, Spike, and Dani all flee into the night in the new and improved Specter Speeder.
It takes a while for anyone to look at the files. They have other concerns. They need to finish treating Dani's wounds beyond the slapdash patch job They managed on site. They also have to figure out shifts for flying the Specter Speeder and how sleeping arrangements are going to work in a moving vehicle until they can safely stop.
Eventually, someone looks into the files Jack and Maddie had insisted they take. Danny and Jazz take as much time to freak out as they can afford, then set Tucker to the task of researching their gene donors to see if they might have someone to turn to.
The Heroes' cyber security is good, but they aren't working with the kind of supernatural advantage Tucker has because their team doesn't have overlap between tech people and magic people which means they don't even recognize the possibility of some of what Tucker can do, let alone know how to defend against it. They likely notice the breach, but Tucker gets some info (though it may not be complete).
Red Hood is quickly ruled out because of the "duffel bag full of heads" incident, and also because the attack on Robin in Titans Tower showed willingness to harm kids (whether or not they know that he wasn't actually much older than Robin at the time, I'll leave up to you). I don't know if they had context for the bag of heads or not, but it doesn't matter either way. No amount of context would make the duffel bag full of heads not intimidating.
Starfire is also quickly ruled out because they found security footage showing an argument about what happened with Mirage. The argument brings up the shape-shifting and that Nightwing didn't know it was her. The kids don't bother looking for additional context because the victim-blaming aspect of calling a victim of assault a cheater is awful on its own and also bears an ugly resemblance to anti-ghost sentiment (they died, and so they are evil monsters). Even if they could be sure she wouldn't turn that attitude on them, they still couldn't stomach being around her. She's a trigger now. They can't look at her without hearing the GIW say "ghost scum."
Nightwing, fortunately, doesn't seem to turn up any Red Flags that they can find, so the kids set out for Bloodhaven.
I imagine there's a good deal of angst, fluff, and righteous violence against GIW agents going forward.
Nightwing quite suddenly has six kids. Only one is his biologically but they're a package deal and he can't just turn them away because apparently Armageddon might be happening?
At first it seems like a fairly standard "new family via mad science" scenario. It's sudden and weird, but it's happened enough in the cape community that that it's not completely uncharted territory. It's kind of wild watching his daughter play fight with her little brother in mid air once he finds a place and convinces them that it's safe to use their powers there.
Then the particulars of the case start coming to light.
Nightwing has mixed feelings about the mad scientists involved. They experimented with other people's DNA without consent and made two children. That's fairly clearcut supervillain behavior. Unlike most supervillains who tried their hand at cloning, they didn't use the kids for some kind of evil plot. They just raised them. They loved the kids so much they apparently fought to the death to give them the chance to escape.
Oh that's right, the government was apparently after the kids because ghosts are illegal now, and the kids are close enough to count despite clearly being alive, and they had to flee after some disastrous happening while rescuing the younger kid's clone.
That's right, not only did the original pair of mad scientists create clones/test tube babies (before they died fighting the forces of evil), but apparently some other mad scientist had cloned one of them because of course kids with his, Starfire's, and Jason's DNA became superheroes and attracted the attention that particular brand of crazy.
And of course he's dealing with this alone until he can convince the skittish flight risks to let him call someone because they don't want their other gene donors involved for some reason. (He can kind of understand in Jason's case, the bag of heads was very public and not his best moment)
Then Nightwing gets the reading material and it gets worse.
The kids have notebooks on their powers and files on their origins. Nightwing is going to have to read them. The files are easy enough to get through, he's dealt with enough mad scientists and these are pretty tame compared to some.
The notebooks are harder to deal with. He has to read the scrawlings of children discussing the particulars of two of their number being dead and how their deaths affect things. Page after page of power testing data interspersed with horrifying revelations casually dropped right next to light-hearted jokes and little doodles of cartoon ghosts.
I saw an idea called death echoes mentioned somewhere, that I thought was interesting but wanted to try a slightly different take, so just know that this next bit is neither an entirely original idea nor 100% faithful to the source.
The notebooks mention that powers related to a ghost's death tend to be "A Lot." What, precisely this means isn't specified. Dick is left trying to figure that out as he reads about how his daughter's younger brother has a sonic attack that he calls a "ghostly wail" because he died screaming and his daughter has something she calls "last stand" because she "stayed on her feet even when her heart stopped" and "didn't allow herself to scream so that she would have a different power that the enemy who captured her brother couldn't counter." They both have a power labeled "ghost zapper" because their bodies were flooded with electrically charged ectoplasm as they died (wtf does "not too intense, got used to it quickly" mean).
The first half of Jazz's notebook reads like a cross between a lab journal and a diary as she details the steps leading up to the death she planned out for herself with bits of her thoughts and feelings about the surrounding situation slipping through. The first few pages about her powers are written with enough pressure to leave grooves in the paper and covered in stray marks, as if the pen was falling out of her hand every time she relaxed.
Nightwing is beginning to see Hood's point about the merits of lethal force. Then the kids explain that in a town with a direct connection to the Gost Zone, killing someone just makes them more dangerous.
...
On another note, Jazz's ghost outfit looks a lot like Danny's. She didn't have time for anything fancy, so she just grabbed a plain white lab suit and drew an emblem on it with a pack of colored Sharpies. She drew an orange and yellow bird shape that turned blue and purple with the palette swap. Her hair is blue. She has a pair of lab goggles pushed upon top of her head in place of her usual headband. She calls herself Pheonix. The Amity Parks community decides that her name must be Phoenix Phantom because everyone recognizes the way siblings bicker.
Tucker's powers are a mix of minor technopathy (derived directly from ghostliness as a result of being liminal), and inventing a new branch of technology-based magic. Apparently the King Tuck incident left him with some memories of Duulaman doing some magic research/spellcrafting that would go on to become the basis for nearly every system of magic use now practiced and Tucker went "pft, I could do that," and went and revolutionized magic his own way.
Sam got a bit of a connection to nature as her liminal power and then used that as a springboard to create another entirely new system of magic use because she refused to be outdone. She calls hers wild magic.
Spike is the Punk-looking guy Jazz was talking to in the first episode. I've decided that they're friends because Jazz has a life outside of being Danny's sister.
Since Spike only appeared for a few seconds in that one episode, I get to decide what he's like here. I have decided that he's ride-or-die loyal, smart, usually fairly level-headed (though this is because he made a point to learn how to manage his temper after it got him in trouble a few to many times). He enjoys wood carving, leather working, and similar crafts. He made the armbands he wears.
His powers will likely be something related to handcrafts when he eventually develops them. Maybe small energy blades that can carve very precisely, maybe something about imbueing his creations with various properties. He doesn't currently have any plans to create a new branch of magic, but with the way things have been going it wouldn't be surprising if he did so by accident.
Spike is surprisingly good with Dani. No one knows how or why, but the semi-feral chaos gremlin will actually settle down around him.
Fenton Ethics and Test Tube Babies
In order to get the funding they need for their Ghost stuff, Jack and Maddie Fenton had to do some... rather illegal things when they left college.
One of them was testing alien DNA and seeing if it was compatible with human DNA.
However getting their hands on Superman's DNA or any of the main Leaguers would be far to hard for two up coming scientists and would run the risk of them being caught. Instead they set their sights on some of the younger aliens.
Such as Starfire, or rather Koriand'r.
They manage to get their hands on her DNA, and also her boyfriend (Nightwing) at the time and began to test it. They felt unsure with what they're doing but they needed the funding and in order to make themself feel better with what they're doing they decided if they were test her DNA with someone she was seeing it would be... better for their own conscience (it doesn't make what they're doing okay but they think so)
Eventually they succeeded in the testing! A baby can be made between a human and a alien.
HOWEVER because we know how the Fenton's get, they kind of go ahead of what they were only meant to do, which was just to TEST the compatibility of the DNA. Basically the paper's before the test phase.
With them getting tunnel vision on this project... They create said baby.
Then before they could show off that creating a new baby via test tubes actually works, they were told that the paperwork they were working on were going to be given to a new team, thank you for your work, here is the money for your ghost stuff, and have a good day.
The people who hired them then just leave.... Without knowing about the newly made baby.
Jack and Maddie name the baby Jasmine.
A few years later when little Jazz asks for a sibling... Well they bring out the old test tubes and papers.
And even though Starfire is no longer dating Nightwing, her new partner Red Hood would make a wonderful male donor for their future kid.

Xiao: Who are you ? (part 1) (v.EN)
f!reader
I want a sweet Xiao <3 and then when you have Matsuoka Yoshitsugu as a seiyuu, how can you not love him?! (even if it will surely be complicated for him to understand the emotions that go through him!).
Zhongli being written.
Masterlist
Part 2
Who are you?
The last Yaksha guardian was collapsed on the ground, wounded, exhausted. His last battle with the darkness had lasted most of the night, further weighing down the karma of the young man with dark hair dotted with emerald strands. The voices of those he had killed fogged his mind, causing excruciating pain to his soul and body. Lying on his stomach unable to open his eyes, his hand struggled to find his winged jade spear that had fallen to the ground with him. A groan of pain scraped his throat at the movement.
The young man flinched briefly as he heard footsteps approaching him quickly, feeling hands grasp his shoulders to carefully turn him around.
He tried again to open his eyes, his vision was blurred and foggy. He could not distinguish the features of the human who had seized him, feeling only his hand gently caressing his hair in an attempt to soothe him. The voice he heard calling him with concern sounded like a woman's, soft and warm.
A soothing light enveloped the young woman, the boy did not understand what was happening because in the second that followed, his body lightened, his pain evaporated, was he dreaming?
Although his vision was still blurred, he nevertheless managed to distinguish a little better the contours of the young woman with long hair (color).
"Who are you? "
His voice was marked by fatigue. He managed to distinguish a thin smile on the face of his rescuer. He repeated more weakly:
"Who are you...? "
His eyes sank, the ethereal form of the young woman reminding him of distant memories, a sudden warmth burst in his heart. Tears beaded in the corners of his eyes.
"Gui...zhong? "
The landscape around him darkened, leading him straight into a soft torpor.
Xiao woke up with a start. Where was he? The Wangshu Inn? Yes, he recognized his quarters, but how did he get there? He still remembered his fight against the horde of monsters he had defeated. He raised his right hand to his face, examining it more closely.
He had no more wounds, no more pain, which brought him back to the young woman he thought he had seen. Had he hallucinated? Had she really healed him? Everything seemed to be a blur. He got up from the bed without difficulty, heading directly to the balcony which was on the top floor of the inn. He looked around, hoping to find the woman who had helped him. The sun was beginning to set, so he had spent the day resting here. It was unusual for him, not being human he didn't have the same needs as them, sleeping, eating, living with others, all that seemed ridiculous. He was almost angry at himself for staying unconscious for so long, hitting one of the wooden columns on the balcony.
Xiao turned around, heading towards the stairs, quickly walking down the steps to Wangshu's innkeeper, Verr Goldet.
"Verr. "
The young woman turned her attention to Xiao.
"Good evening lord Xiao, have you recovered from your last fight? "
"Did you see who brought me here?"
Verr didn't take offense to his curt tone, simply shaking her head to indicate that she hadn't.
Xiao clicked his tongue, annoyed. He needed to know who this mysterious woman was who had taken care of him. The memory of the warmth that emanated from her gripped his heart again, drawing his steps back towards the exit of the inn.
He suddenly bumped into a young man with blond hair, accompanied by his annoying little creature.
"Xiao?"
Aether looked at Xiao with big round eyes, he was not used to seeing him with such an expression. He was confused, frustrated and angry, these were all emotions that were running through the yaksha since he woke up.
"Xiao is not in a good mood"- Paimon twirled around him- "You should come eat something with us, nothing beats a good meal for..."
"I don't need that! "
Paimon gasped, hiding behind Aether. Xiao tried to calm himself by inhaling a deep breath of air, passing by the traveler without saying a word.
"Wait Xiao! Where are you going? "
Aether stopped him, grabbing his arm loosely so as not to rush him further. Xiao immediately gave a sharp blow on his arm to disengage himself, he regretted his abrupt words, he hated it. Before he met Aether, he never had to worry about others or how to behave with them, he was alone and he was fine with that. It was all too... human for him. Slowly he turned his gaze to the traveler.
"Aether I... am sorry. "
"Xia...! "
Without saying another word, Xiao disappeared in a draft.
When you landed in Liyue from your native land, Sumeru, a few months ago, a terrifying battle took place at the city's port. An ancient God who had once been sealed by the rock lord had broken free from his prison, attempting to destroy the port of Liyue in the process, but fortunately he was quickly stopped.
Since these events, you had started to travel in the lands of the geo archon, studying the local fauna and flora. Flowers had always fascinated you, their shapes, their smells, their meanings or their benefits, you studied absolutely everything, noting and drawing in a notebook everything you saw.
In Sumeru, you joined the prestigious magic academy to perfect your Guizhong, that was the last thing he said to you. Who was he? It seemed to you that you had already read this name in one of the books you had borrowed from the academy. You couldn't ask him, tiredness taking him away from you. You knew that not far away there was an inn, it was going to be difficult but you had to take him there so that he could rest. When you picked him up, wrapping your arm around his shoulders for support, his spear on the ground disappeared by itself. You had adjusted your grip before you began your walk.
After several minutes of recalling these events, you noticed that you had finally arrived at the high cliffs of Huaguang. Taking your courage in both hands, you prepared yourself mentally to climb the cliff. Up there was a flower that you wanted to study, the Qingxin flower. They grew exclusively on the highest stone peaks, avoiding heat and humidity, a lonely and hard to reach flower.
"It's okay! "
You rolled up your sleeves, putting your feet and hands where they could grip, slowly you began your ascent.
Night had fallen on the Liyue plains, and it was at the top of Qingyun Peak that the Yaksha had taken refuge, watching the stars brighter than ever. Sitting on the edge of the cliff, the memory of the young woman haunted him. The pain in his chest made him clench his fists, he had never felt like this, he didn't even know what name to put on these feelings.
Xiao was a thousand year old follower, human feelings didn't concern him, so why? Why such pain at the mere thought of a... stranger? But was she really a stranger? This woman had reminded him of an old friend, Guizhong, who died during the Archon war. Could she have come back in an ethereal form? Or maybe it was a new trick the demons had found to torture him a little more.
In the distance, Xiao saw a faint jade-colored light coming from the Huaguang stone forest. He widened his eyes, remembering that glow that had saved his life. His heart began to beat furiously in his chest.
"This is... impossible... I found you. "
His voice trembled at the sight of the sweet emanation. It warmed him, soothed him, the voices that constantly hammered him fell silent and his usually aching body was now light. At last he understood his obsession with you, when you had treated him earlier this morning, a bond had been established between you, a bond as strong as the one that bound him to Morax for whom he had the greatest respect and devotion.
Xiao stood up, looking in the direction you were facing. He disappeared into the wind.art and deepen your knowledge. More than once your teachers told you that your manipulation of your dendro vision was exceptional, some city-states were already looking to recruit you as a researcher or healer, but you always refused, preferring to remain free of your movements. Once you had finished your studies, you quickly decided to leave your homeland, wanting to learn more from your neighbors. Your steps finally led you to Liyue.
You had left early that morning, heading towards the Huaguang stone forest from the Dihua swamp. On the way, you passed a badly wounded young man with emerald tattoos on him. His face, despite the wounds, was beautiful and when he opened his eyes, the amber color immediately fascinated you.
You couldn't leave him like that, wounded and bruised, using your Dendro vision to heal him. When you used it, it projected a jade aura on you and a flowery area grew around you, releasing energy that allowed you to heal even the deepest wounds.
He had tried several times to ask you to identify yourself, which you did, but his apparent fatigue had closed off his senses.
Guizhong, that was the last thing he said to you. Who was he? It seemed to you that you had already read this name in one of the books you had borrowed from the academy. You couldn't ask him, tiredness taking him away from you. You knew that not far away there was an inn, it was going to be difficult but you had to take him there so that he could rest. Xiao stood up, looking in the direction you were facing. He disappeared into the wind.
You had finally reached the top of the cliff, immediately spotting two-three Qingxin flowers. You immediately knelt down beside one of them, taking out your notebook and pencil. You began to draw this beautiful flower from every angle, noting here and there the characteristics you could observe. Satisfied with everything you could see, you finally turned to the landscape plunged in the darkness of the night. Liyue's sky was dotted with stars that shone brightly. Sitting cross-legged in the center of the cliff top, your gaze turned back to the flowers of Qingxin, suddenly reminding you of the young man you had rescued. When you looked into his eyes, his eyes seemed so sad, so lonely. The pain that seemed to be emanating from him had struck you at the highest point.
You turned your attention back to the stars. Your mind was obsessed with this boy and it was with him in mind that you began to sing an ancient poem by Sumeru. The words, although sung in your native language, were undoubtedly sad and melancholic. Your hands were placed in front of you, palms up, eyes closed, activating your dendro vision. A jade-green circle encircled the entire surface of the cliff, particles of light streaming from the ground. Gradually, luminescent blue flowers began to grow around you, following the rhythm of your song.
It was a violent draught that cut you off, opening your eyes in surprise. You gasped as you saw the young man with the amber eyes standing before you.
He was out of breath, stiff as a board, his eyes never leaving yours. Something in him seemed different from this morning, in his eyes you could see... peace?
He cautiously approached you, kneeling down in front of you to get to your level. He took one of your hands in his, squeezing it gently. The particles you had created swirled around you, lighting up the scene. Your heart was pounding now that he was in front of you, you found him even more attractive under the moonlight. His eyes shone with an incredible brilliance, his tattoos also glowed with a soft emerald glow.
Your voice, your appearance, everything seemed sweet to him, no wonder he confused you with Guizhong, you looked like him in some ways.
His lips trembled slightly as he continued to examine your face, a question seemed to cross his lips.
His free hand went up to your face, tucking one of your locks behind your ear.
"Who are you? "His tone was more brutal than he had intended it to be.
Your eyes widened at the question. Of course you couldn't introduce yourself or learn who he was, his name, what he did. You wanted to know everything about this man who had marked your heart.
Seeing that you didn't answer, he asked again in a soft whisper, making you blush.
"Who are you? "
"(y/n)..."
And for the first time since you met, a smile stretched his lips, a silence accompanying your answer. His smile disappeared as quickly as it had appeared, his hand dropped yours.
"Xiao. "
You looked at him intensely, your face completely red as he straightened his legs.
"As long as you're in Liyue, I'll protect you. Call me and I'll be there in a second."
You slowly nodded, fascinated by this man who was decidedly not human. He watched you for a few more seconds, his eyes entranced by your presence before disappearing as he had appeared...
"Xiao..."

otherworldly! s/o
A/n: happy monday! I woke up at 7am and since then I've been grinding out assignments/classes and now this, so I actually feel productive even though I've been staring at my computer for a while. but thank you for requesting anon! I enjoyed writing this and I hope you enjoy reading it! <33 also to understand this more, I'd like to point out that this connects to the speculation Genshin and Honkai are alternate universes of one another. so for example, Scaramouche is a harbinger from his time, but he may have been a warlord in a different, with a completely different name (keeping his appearance ofc) hope that makes sense. so if you've paid attention to what I've been saying about Scara and his mini-series, etc. you'll understand what I mean in Scara's lol. his reader insert is fem for the same reason as above btw!
Summary: otherworldly! s/o who arrived as a fallen meteor, that can bring back plants to life/heal deep wounds/scars and resurrect people.
Parings: Albedo/Gn! Reader, Xiao/Gn! Reader, Scaramouche/Fem! Reader
Warnings: swearing, fluff, alternate realities/time traveler au! (reader is not the traveler), death/resurrection
Word count: 1.7k
Albedo
you don't have a vision like some people in Teyvat, because you're not from there; you're from a whole different world itself. instead, you have healing abilities that allow you to any energy you absorb in the form of food/sunlight, and you can use that energy to heal others. though, the healing can only go as far as healing minor injuries such as shallow cuts, scratches, or smoothing out scars. the same can work if you were to heal yourself.
Albedo is so intrigued when he finds you passed out in the pit of a meteor, half of your body hanging out while the other is awkwardly still in it
one, because who is this stranger in a meteor for crying out loud
and two, he notices your wounds on your arms are healing by themselves, slowly though
as someone who studies alchemy, life forms, and such, he's very intrigued that you're able to heal yourself without medicine, and he wonders if you can do the same to others
so he takes you to his lab, and runs a few tests
yes, you're still passed out when this happens, but he's just so curious and couldn't hold back
don't worry though, he's just drawing some blood and testing to see what you can do, because who knows, you may not even speak his language and won't be able to communicate with him (doesn't make a difference Albedo, you need COnSENT-)
so, just for science, he cuts the palm of his hand a little and decides to see if you can heal him
it doesn't take him long to notice the way the tips of your fingers are glowing a light greenish-yellow, so he immediately assumes that's the source of your powers and places a finger on his palm
it takes a second before anything happens, but eventually his cut starts to slowly close
once again he's even more shocked and intrigued
you have the natural ability and he's never come across someone with so much raw strength being able to do that
so you're right up his alley
when you wake up you're confused as hell (obviously) but thankfully, you can speak his language and are able to share your story
Albedo decides to make a deal with you
he'll help you get home if you can educate him more about your ability and your homeland. you agree
it works out perfectly, because you both have something the other needs/can do for the other (you have your power that he's interested in, and he's found a way for you to return home)
it's also easy to work together because of those same common interests, and it helps that he studies alchemy cause he's way more knowledgeable about you and the process can go a tiny bit quicker for you if you wish to return home sooner
at first you're merely friends, co-workers if you wish
but then he starts falling for you and vice versa
you both genuinely enjoy each others company, so you decide to stay in Teyvat a little while longer, even after he finds a way for you to go home
I wouldn't put it past Albedo to want to return to your world if you allow it
he'd be interested in this new or not so new world ;)
Xiao
you're like the traveler in a sense, where as soon as you climbed out of the meteor, you felt this connection to Teyvat and your vision randomly appeared. you have a dendro vision, something you learned was a rarity within liyue and mondstadt. along with that vision, you had the previous ability to grow/heal plants. you can bring back dead plants, though if they've been dead for a very long time, that's beyond your ability. they also can't be brought back if they've been badly burned.
Xiao may not be interested at first about what vision you have or even where you came from + why the hell you climbed out of a meteor
he's more interested in getting you home so you can stop asking questions about his own abilities/vision and odd, unfamiliar, but beautiful world
but boy when he catches you bringing back a wilted Glaze Lily?!? shook
he secretly thinks you're so cool and it piques his interest
he's never seen anyone do this before, and though his eyes were deceiving him when he first saw the lily spring to life again
but then when he catches you healing more plants, on your way to Liyue to hopefully find Zhongli for answers, he's so interested
he doesn't ask a crapload of questions, BUT he's going to ask at least one or two
"how're you doing that?"
"what are you?
the questions are kind of vague and require more in-depth explanations than he'd originally hoped, but he's surprisingly willing to listen to your story on the way to the harbor
after he learns your story and calls for Zhongli, he'll immediately leave and claim he has no further interests in you
but he's obviously lying
he finds as he's sitting on top of one the smaller mountains one night, looking down at the glowing Liyue town, he has more questions
way more questions
surprising Zhongli, Xiao shows appears when he's showing you around and getting you accustomed to the people/culture
he finds himself hoving behind you, shyly almost, never asking questions (at least not in Zhongli's presence
his reason for standing behind you is to protect you from any harm, so that way, when he decides to ask you more questions, you'll be there for him to do so and not dead or lost
when you tell Zhongli you'd wish to stay in Teyvat, specifically Liyue, Xiao is happy ngl
he can ask you questions and now that you're somewhat used to Liyue, having been here for four months already and planning to stay forever, he can catch you alone and ask questions without Zhongli hovering or acting as your tour guide lol
slowly, and I mean sluggishly slow, he's going to ask you more questions and he may, emphasis on may, tell you his own story
Scaramouche
you're from an alternate reality of Teyvat, a former doctor in your world. basically, Teyvat hundreds of years in the future. you've studied the human body to become a doctor obviously and you used to be able to bring back the dead using your bare hands. it didn't matter how far back ago they've died, as long as their full-body was still intact (full skeleton needed). though, the further back they died, the more energy you'd use, and if you run out of energy too soon, you couldn't bring them back. but now in this strange land, you can't. in exchange for your powers being lost, you're given an electro vision.
Scaramouche is tasked with finding out more about these odd meteors that keep appearing in various corners of Teyvat
and one very large one
he doesn't care who you are, what you are, what your excuse for being in Teyvat is, but he's been ordered to explore the fallen meteor and since you happened to be passed out inside it upon further exploration, you're part of the mystery he's been told to check out
and, it doesn't further help your situation that you landed in Snezhnaya, in the weirdest, not-so-warm clothing AND he finds you attractive (yes, you heard it here folks), plus you're going to catch hypothermia out here dressed like that
it would suck for a pretty girl such as yourself to be frozen to death
so Scaramouche decides to take you to the Tsaritsa, who leaves you in Scaramouche's care since he found you
she says he can do whatever he wants you, dispose of you, etc.
when you finally come too in an odd room on a couch in front of a fireplace, you're confused, cold as hell despite the flames, and when you see his face, you're immediately angered, which he finds odd
it's almost as if you recognize him... but he doesn't recognize you so he's confused as well
"what're you doing here?"
bold of you, he thinks. to question him with that tone as if you have authority here, over him
"watch yourself. I was going to ask you the same."
you don't seem too pleased with him though
"we agreed to never speak again, or so I thought..."
"are you stupid or are you just playing the stupid card to be released?" he'd say
though as soon as you burst and yell at him about a situation he's not familiar with, he's starting to understand a bit more
you're not from here, not anywhere in Teyvat at least, and by the way you're talking to him as if you know him, he assumed correctly that you're from an alternate reality, where he's also present
though despite his correct assumption, he demands answers and you cannot be allowed any kind of freedom until he gets them
you tell him your story and how in your world, a version of himself exists and that you were briefly married, though split because he was too much of a control/power freak for you and your daughter
he disagrees with the last part about him being a control/power freak ofc but
he decides he'll keep you around, against your wishes
one, because you can become useful if your resurrection abilities are awoken; you'd be able to save many fallen Fatui soldiers, with more training so you don't run out of energy ofc
and two, he doesn't think his other self would miss you very much if you're both on bad terms, he sure would miss such a pretty face if you were to leave though, that's for sure...
so, he's going to keep you around, so he can help train/get used to your electro vision. it works best that way since he has the same vision and can train you more efficiently (I think Scara has electro powers, just an assumption!)
he will also hopefully be able to awaken your resurrection abilities and if you can't, well then sorry you're disposable
overtime, all the Harbingers tease him about his little crush and he either denies it or strongly provokes it cause his ego is through his fucking hat
exhibit a. literally doesn't care that he's caught by childe staring at you train and will say something like, "and? you're just jealous she's not interested in you like she is me."
exhibit b. will throw a fit if someone accuses him and says he has, "no room for crushes or love." even if he was somewhat capable of it in your world...

By Your Side
Idol: Handong (Dreamcatcher)
Life as an idol always brought pressure to their lives. It was just a matter of communication for them to keep going.
A/n: Dongie i love you and i wish you nothing but good things
☕buy me a coffee☕
Everyone was understandably exhausted when you looked around the room. Right after promotions, your schedule had been packed with interviews and various appearances, that it was a little surprising. Yet to see the gradual rise in Dreamcatcher’s fame was more than worth the exhaustion.
Your days had been filled with practices, both for the concert and for Kcon. Your energy was slowly depleting with how many hours you would spend at the company, just to get everything right, down to the last note and pose.
The girls were a little worried whenever you came home, drenched in sweat and exhausted that you barely had the energy to move, but thankfully you made sure not to neglect your health and joined them to eat whenever you could.
“I think you should take a break.” A soft voice tells you, and you don’t need to look when Handong’s reflection stares at you from the mirror of the practice room. “I’m okay, I’ll be done in a bit.” You answered while stretching your legs, but your girlfriend pursed her lips at your answer as she stepped closer, placing her hand on your back and pulling your attention back on her.
“Y/n, I know that we have to practice, but you don’t have to do this every day. At this rate, you’re going to get yourself hurt.” She said worriedly while gently squeezing your shoulder and you pause what you were doing to look at her, smiling as you reach for her hand and press a kiss to her fingertips. “I’ll be okay. It’s just a bit of practice. Plus, Sooyeon unnie said that there’s always room for improvement.” You explained, yet that didn’t seem to satisfy the slightly older woman as she crouched down.
With a small tug on your hand, she asks for you to be facing her, one you instantly comply with, before she’s settling herself between your legs and wrapping her arms around your waist. The action surprised you, drawing a laugh from your lips as your girlfriend made herself comfortable, smiling when she felt the vibrations of your laugh as she rested her head against your chest.
“Dongie, I need to practice.” You try, yet you make no moves on pushing her away. “You need to rest.” She argues, looking up at you with a pout. “You can practice while I’m gone to do my birthday live.” She negotiates and with the way she was looking, it was impossible for you to say no.
So in the end, you were both cuddling in one corner of the room as your members began to arrive, all of them looking a bit relieved to see that you weren’t pushing yourself past more than what you could handle. They each shot your girlfriend a smile before proceeding to start with their own stretching whilst Handong did her best to keep you comfortable.
When you’re all done and ready to practice together, Handong comes bouncing into the room with Bora at her tail, grinning as she holds the decent sized cotton candy. “Look what I have!” The dancer grinned while waving the sweet up in the air and Gahyeon laughed at the pout on her roommate’s face. “I’m never making cotton candy again.” She sighed before looking around the room for you.
Her search doesn’t last too long because Minji was already gesturing to your hunched over form with Yubin fanning your face and Siyeon quietly talking to you. The worry on their faces was clear enough for your girlfriend as she faced the leader.
“She’s okay, just a little tired.” Minji sighs, crossing her arms across her chest. “Even Sooyeon unnie told her to take a break.” Yoohyeon muttered while tying her hair up. “I think we should really get some food into her system before we head home.” She adds.
“Real food though, not convenience store food or instant noodles.” Gahyeon added with a huff. Since you’ve all been out so late, no one’s had the time or energy to cook. And as much as Bora tries, most of you are already passed out by the time she’s done cooking, having settled for whatever was easiest to cook.
“Let’s go home for tonight.”
..
On the day of the concert, you’re more than ready to perform. Since you didn’t really have to dance for the first night, you were a little relieved that you could just sit down and catch your breath.
Of course, that didn’t really stop your girlfriend from doting you. Since she’s gotten so used to seeing you worn out at home, she couldn’t help but check on you when she could. And maybe it was the exhaustion, but you really didn’t mean to snap at her or seem ungrateful.
“I’m fine, Handong, seriously.” You groaned when you fixed your in-ears. “I just think you should-”
“I said I’m fine.” You grunted, scowling as you grabbed your things and your girlfriend shuts her mouth, watching you as you left the dressing room and Gahyeon looked worriedly to her friend before lightly patting her arm. “I’m sure she didn’t mean it, unnie.” She tried to assure, and as much as Handong wanted to let it go, she’ll admit that it hurt.
She just wanted to help you.
As the concert went on, neither of you made it apparent that you’ve had an argument off stage. And even though the girls could sense the tension between you, they made sure to keep it subtle as they took charge of the concert, keeping the atmosphere light where they initiated the conversation with both of you just so it wouldn’t seem too forced.
Whenever you all had to sit on the couch, you were a little relieved that Yubin was the one closest to you and that it wouldn’t be off for people to see you not interacting with her.
Though at that point, you were already feeling guilty for being angry with her in the first place. You understood why she was so worried and she was only trying to take care of you. Had it been anyone else, they would have done the same thing she did now that you looked at it.
And it was her birthday, today.
God, just what kind of girlfriend were you?
Glancing at the Chinese woman, you smile when you see her messing around with the maknae, and when you look back, Yubin was already smiling at you, almost a silent message that you quickly understand from your roommate.
When you have to go backstage to change your clothes, you quietly slip past everyone and head to your corner before your stylist goes to retouch your makeup. And with how busy everyone else is, neither you nor your girlfriend have the chance to talk. Though, she does steal glances at you through the mirror to see how you were coping.
A yawn passes your lips, and right as you attempt to rub your eyes, your stylist stops you with a hand to your wrist before lowering it. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you, Y/n.” She warns and you pout before nodding your head. “The concert is almost over, so just hang in there.” She says encouragingly while Yoohyeon hands you a cup of water.
While waiting for everyone to finish, you decide to head for the stage first, thinking it’d be best to give everyone more space to move around.
You flash your members a small grin as you head for the door, and pass behind your girlfriend. She doesn’t see you when you’re near, but she feels the small squeeze to her hand as you pass before she’s turning around, only to catch a glimpse of your back as you exit the room.
When she looks back, Siyeon is already grinning at her. “You guys will be fine.”
And while Handong knows that, she couldn’t help but sulk when you still wouldn’t meet her eyes or come near her throughout the concert. It was as though you were deliberately trying to avoid her, and it confused her to no end just what exactly was going through your head.
Though she really should have known by now. After four years of friendship, and two years dating, she should have known that you wouldn’t just let the argument pass without letting her know just how sorry you were.
So by the time she started to hear everyone’s personal messages for her, she had held her breath as she waited for your voice because even when she was able to keep her tears at bay with the other’s messages, she’s not sure if she would be able to keep her cool by the time you spoke.
You were the only one who could bring it out of her.
And everyone knew that, which was why they decided to have you speak last.
“Dongie!” You smile at the camera, waving as you try to keep your voice low. “First of all, happiest birthday to the love of my life.” The girls snicker behind the camera and Handong had to stop herself from smiling as she heard them. “We missed a lot of time together the past year, but we have many more to make up for it.” You say with a tiny smile. “When you left for the survival show, I have to admit that I was a bit scared because I thought that the time away might have changed our relationship, but I was so happy when you finally came home to us.”
You look as your manager gestures for you to wrap up and you flash your best smile. “I’ll keep taking care of you, just stay with me forever, okay? I love you, and happy birthday.”
Hearing the sincerity in your tone and finally seeing you come to join her made your girlfriend’s eyes glossy with unshed tears, and you smile at her as you gather together on stage, adjusting your shirt.
But right as the cameras started to roll again, you were all surprised to hear another message coming through your in-ears, and you had to pause whilst Handong looked even more shocked than everyone as her mother’s voice greeted your ears.
Listening to her message seemed to be the final push for Handong to finally burst into tears and your members did the same as you listened. As hard as she tried to cover her face, Handong listened to her mother’s message while trying to control her crying, biting her cheek just to hold back a sob and you hurry to grab a tissue to wipe her tears away.
When you meet each other’s eyes, you had offered her a soft smile while lightly wiping away her tears despite the continuous downpour. Seeing as you tried to fight back tears of your own only pushed her to cry harder before you moved to take her into your arms and let her cling to you as you continued to listen to the rest of her parents’ message.
..
“Mind if I come in?”
Gahyeon looked up when you lightly knocked on their door and a smile bloomed across her face before n she nodded her head. “Of course, unnie! I was just about to use the bathroom.” The maknae lied, sending her roommate a little smile before she hopped out of the room, shooting you a wide smile as she did, making you chuckle at her antics.
“She’s cheeky.” Handong comments as she brushes her hair and you offer to take over when you extend your hand out. Silently, she gives you the brush before you sit behind her. “Well, she cares for both of us. It makes sense.” You mutter when you begin brushing through the long strands of gold, carefully taking out the little bits of glitter left on her head the best you could.
“It’s not usual for us to be fighting, so she’s worried.”
You hum at her words and the silence stretches. While you try to think of what to say, Handong is still thinking about the events of the evening and she can’t help the way her eyes tear up again because right after the concert, she had received a message from both her parents, wishing her a happy birthday once more.
You don’t realize that she’s crying until the quiet sniffles eventually grow audible enough for you to hear. Setting the brush down, you carefully turn your girlfriend around until you’re facing each other and you can see her slightly reddened eyes.
You’re careful when you let your thumbs gently run under her eyes before pressing a kiss on her eyelids. Pulling her to your lap, you press another kiss to her temple this time before letting out a soft breath. “I’m sorry for snapping at you earlier. I was tired, but I shouldn’t have taken it out on you.” You apologize and even when she tries to disagree, you’re already shushing her.
“It was wrong. Even if you try to tell me otherwise, I shouldn’t have gotten upset when all you were trying to do was make sure that I was fine.” You say with a frown that it makes your girlfriend cringe before bursting into laughter. “Don’t do that, it’s not cute!” She teases and you crinkle your nose before joining her in laughing.
“I’m trying to apologize! Come on!”
You both burst into fits of giggles and Handong feels much better now that you were able to get whatever weight you had off your chest.
Her hand lands on your cheek when you both calm down. Her heart felt full and there was honestly nothing else she thought could make this an even better birthday than it already was. She was able to spend the day with her second family, InSomnias, and then received the surprise message from her parents.
And most of all, she was happy to just have you by her side, even after she had left for China.
“I love you.” She whispers and she sees as your expression softens before you place a kiss against the palm of her hand. “I love you, too.” You tell her right before she’s tugging you closer and you meet her halfway, pressing a tender kiss against her lips.
And honestly, what was a better way to end a perfect night?

"Oh, darling, everybody sees how you look at him" fic request with Din/reader! (Please and thank you :3)
Everyone Knows
A/N: Another request done and dusted. I’ve been getting some new prompt lists ready for when I open requests back up again (not sure what tumblr etiquette is for compiling a masterlist using other people’s prompt-lists, but I’m considering doing something like that), but I still have about 4 or 5 fics to finish off before then!
Rating: PG?
Pairing: Din Djarin x ForceSensitive!Reader
Warnings: Mentions of death, a bit of alcohol, that’s about it.
Word Count: 4500 (Me, failing to keep a story under 2k words? It’s more likely than you think)
Summary: After taking on the krayt dragon together, you’re forced to confront your feelings for Din (with a little help from everyone’s favorite marshal).
***
The monster was unlike anything you’d ever seen before.
There’d been times aboard the Crest, when there were still thousands of miles to go between stops, that you’d sit by Din, giving him your rapt attention as he’d recount one of his many stories about a particularly terrifying beast he’d encountered. Not that he would ever call them terrifying – the man had a will of steel when it came to facing these kinds of things. And on this occasion, in the middle of the Tatooine desert, things would prove no different.
Only this time he had you.
You were still coming into your abilities, not really sure what they meant or the true extent of what you were capable of, and amazingly enough you found you were learning a lot from watching the Child. For instance, before he came along, you had never known you could heal people. A simple experiment with Din had proven this to be true enough – the man was prone to injury in his line of work – and though it had taken a lot of concentration, enough that you were sweating by the end, it got you wondering just what other miracles your hands could perform.
Now, standing beside Din and the man who had introduced himself to you both as Cobb Vanth, you stared down into the dragon’s lair and found yourself hoping those powers might come in handy.
“So, how’re we drawin’ this thing out?” Cobb asks.
You glance back at the dozens of townsfolk and Tuskens around you, sensing their uneasiness as they shuffle from foot to foot and cast occasional apprehensive glances in the direction of the danger and you’re surprised to see a couple of the Raiders step forward. Considering how well their peoples’ last attempt to draw out the beast had gone, you hadn’t expected any of them to be so willing to approach the pit again.
Cobb glances over at them and cocks his head in immediate acceptance. Given his past troubles with their people, he can’t say he’s overly concerned over the prospect of losing a few more of them.
But you’ve never been one to stand by and watch people get hurt.
“No, wait.” The words leave your mouth automatically. Up until this point, you’d been feeling completely useless. Din had been keeping an even closer watch on you than usual since a stunt you had pulled back on Nevarro; one that had involved your unpredictable powers and the dozens of stormtroopers who’d had him cornered. Though he had come out of the situation a lot worse for wear than you had, he’d been hovering over you, keeping you a safe distance from any action ever since. You were starting to get sick of being kept on the sidelines. “I can do it,” you say.
The Tuskens turn to look back at you, not able to understand what you’ve said, but sensing a potential change of plans, then their attention is drawn to the Mandalorian beside you as he quickly dashes their hopes.
“No,” comes Din’s clear, expected response.
You turn to him. “I can handle this.”
“No. You’re staying where you are.”
You gaze at him for just a moment, anger starting to bubble in the pit of your stomach, before turning around and striding down the tall dune, towards the gaping mouth of the empty saarlac pit. You know better than to argue – you don’t have the time right now, but every time you did, he managed to use it as a way to distract you. You wouldn’t give him that opportunity now. You’d already made up your mind.
You feel the air stir as his hand shoots out to grab you, but you’re too quick; one of the things that’s managed to keep you alive this long, but now maybe the very thing that’s going to get you killed.
“Dank Farrik!”
Cobb glances between the man beside him and your retreating form, attempting to hold back a smirk. In the short couple of days that he’s known you both, he’s already witnessed at least three separate arguments, none of which seemed to get either of you anywhere. He didn’t see this one going the big guy’s way, either.
The modulator seems to amplify the frustration in Din’s voice, but you ignore it. You were more than capable of looking out for yourself, as you had proven to him numerous times now, and whatever problem he had with that was his own – you weren’t about to let his fears hold you back. Yet, as you draw closer to the yawning darkness, your heart begins to thud in your chest. For the first time, you feel the enormity of this creature, and you’ve never felt so small in your life.
You sense him approach before you hear him. That was one advantage you’d always had over Din; he could never sneak up on you.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m tired of watching everyone else do everything,” you say, finally coming to a stop, your gaze still trained forward, “I want to play my part. I need to play my part.”
“No, you need to stay safe.” His words sound threatening despite their context, but you ignore him once more. This time he does grab you, catching you around the forearm as you raise your hands in the direction of the cave. “Stop!”You’re tempted to use your powers to throw him off, but you can feel how much he means it and you’re struck with a sudden guilt. He cares. That’s all there is to it.
“Please, let me do this.” You stare up into his helmet and feel him gazing back, considering things. His fingers loosen from your wrist.
“Fine. But I’m staying with you.”
“I wouldn’t expect anything less,” you reply, not bothering to hide your bitterness at the constant babysitting – though, if you’re being honest, you do feel better with him by your side.
You raise your hands again and close your eyes, focusing on the low hum of energy around you. You don’t feel it at first, but then its as if you’ve suddenly locked onto a connection – plugged yourself into an electric charge – and everything suddenly feels heightened. Everything feels more. You draw on from that, concentrating on the pit of darkness before you, then you push forward with your mind, reaching out. In the darkness, something stirs.
“What is it?” Din asks, as if he’s sensed the sudden change.
“I feel it,” you reply, eyes still closed, your brow now marked with a frown.
He stares down at you and you finally open your eyes to meet his gaze (as much as you can through the helmet) but before either of you can say anything, a low rumbling begins to emit from the ground.
It had worked.
And it was heading right for you.
You’ll admit that, as much you’d wanted to play your part in this, you hadn’t really considered what came next once you did manage to draw the thing out. So now, as you watch the sand shift and begin to rise a hundred or so feet in front of you, you find yourself rooted to the spot.
It’s Din who moves first.
Your hands had come up again, all you can think to do to hold the beast off, then suddenly a strong arm is wrapping around your waist and you’re being propelled into the air. You glance down just in time to see the enormous mouth erupt from the ground where you had just been standing.
This time, you don’t argue. You clutch onto him, air whipping through your hair, thankful that he’s just as stubborn as you are.
When you finally land, he sets you on your feet and quickly glances down to make sure you’re alright. You give him a quick nod, sensing the question in his gaze, and then he takes off again to rejoin the action. It takes you a moment to regain your balance, and you still feel the ghost of his arm around your waist, but when you glance back you find that he’s set you down by the landspeeder, with the Child. He’s put you back at the kids’ table.
You give a frustrated growl and the baby blinks curiously at you, eyes full of wonder. He’s just happy to be here, close to someone he likes. You offer a reassuring stroke over his little head, then turn to stalk back down the dunes; back towards the rest of the group whose lives apparently don’t mean as much to Din, since he’s more them happy for them to join in despite them having little-to-no fighting experience. You’re not about to sit back and watch them all die.
As the dragon bursts out of the sand once more, the Tuskens and townsfolk begin firing harpoons into its side – a desperate attempt to keep it in place – and you watch as it wrenches itself free with a simple shake of its body. There’s no way this plan is going to work.
When you arrive back by Din’s side, he simply looks at you, not even bothering to admonish you, knowing it’s not going to get him anywhere at this point anyway. But as you look at him, a silent warning to not push you aside again, he sees you’ve got that same look in your eyes now as you had back on Nevarro. And it worries him.
You move off together as a unit as the dragon begins its assault, firing with everything you’ve got to get its attention – in your case, your trusty blaster pistol – stopping only when it opens its jaws wide and proceeds to spit boiling acid down onto anyone within its reach. You watch in horror as people are disintegrated before your eyes.
A massive explosion beneath it distracts it long enough for any survivors to get clear of its path, and the creature suddenly dives.
You wait, watching for any sign that it’s coming back up, but the smoking landscape is silent and still. Yet, something doesn’t feel right.
“I don’t think it’s dead,” Cobb says, voicing your concern, and you exchange worried glances.
“Me neither,” Din replies. His grip tightens on his blaster, waiting.
Then suddenly, up on the mountain, the creature bursts forth once more. It opens its mouth wide and you glance down at the people in its path about to be annihilated. You can’t watch this happen again. Moving as fast as your feet can carry you, you rush down towards them, shoving them aside with a powerful force-push seconds before the acid hits the sand, clearing them of its path just in time – leaving you in a tricky predicament. You’ve caught its attention now – and you have nowhere to go.
You catch the sound of jetpacks as Cobb and Din land either side of you, weapons raised and ready to come to your defense.
“Get back!” Din barks at you, and you find you have no choice but to listen to him. Failing to do so now, even just to prove a point, and you’re certain you’d be the dragon’s next meal. You’d pick your hill to die on one day, but this just wasn’t it.
Din and Cobb take off into the air again, firing their weapons to draw the dragon’s attention away and give you time to escape. It works. The dragon, furious from the sudden new assault, turns and comes after them, spraying up sand as it whips its massive body in the new direction.
As you watch them draw it further away, you can’t help but wonder what the plan is, since the original one has long fallen apart. They can’t keep drawing it away forever. Now that you have minute to breath, you look around for a way to help, and spot the explosives-laden bantha that had been led down as bait. It looks like it would rather be anywhere else and, hell, you don’t blame it, but glancing between it and the massive monster that currently has its sights set on the one man who never failed to put himself in the path of danger for you, you think maybe it was time to return the favor and finish this once and for all.
So, you grab the bellowing, hairy animal by its halter and do something stupid.
You start yelling. And waving your arms. And when that fails to grab the dragon’s attention, you start firing your weapon. Taking your odd behavior as some kind of cue, the townsfolk closest to you begin firing, too, and finally the dragon turns to face this latest assault, drawn to the movement of your waving arms and the scent wafting from the bantha.
You spot the two armored men, now free of the dragon’s attention, flying up from the mountain before one in particular makes a sudden beeline in your direction. You can practically feel Din’s wrath radiating off of him before he even gets close, and it’s like the bantha can, too, as it begins to protest and pull against its rope. Or maybe it’s the giant monster coming to swallow it whole that has it so skittish. Either way, you feel like an ass as you try to calm it down, knowing the only reason you’re doing so is to keep it in place long enough to be eaten.
You’re grateful to have the marshal land behind you first as Din drops down in front, poised to lose his absolute mind at you for your reckless behavior, but finding the situation momentarily put on-hold as Cobb asks to no one in particular, “Now what?”
Din’s staring at you, gaze heavy, burning, and humiliating all in one, but he doesn’t have time to berate you as the dragon breaks from a nearby dune. “I have an idea,” he says, and before either you or Cobb can ask what that is, he shoves you into the marshal’s arms and sets off the man’s jetpack, sending you both careening up and away from the dragon’s path – and leaving him right in the middle of it.
You had come to suspect that you were in pretty deep with Din Djarin, ever since he had first rescued you many years ago, but watching him disappear into the enormous jaws of the krayt dragon was a lesson you had never asked for in how you really felt about him. Even as everyone around you falls into a stunned silence, your ears begin to buzz and you have to fight to keep your footing, absently leaning against Cobb for support as the energy drains from your legs. Cobb reaches for you but misses as you collapse down onto the sand by his feet. Your throat starts to tighten. Everything feels hazy.
This can’t be it. This can’t be the way it happens.
Then the beast erupts from the sand once more and you spot a familiar shape fly out of its roaring mouth.
Your heart leaps into your throat. Suddenly, you can breathe again. Then you’re back on your feet and racing towards him.
The huge blast that follows knocks you back and you hold an arm across your eyes to protect them from the cloud of sand billowing from the site of the explosion, but even that’s not enough to stop you as you keep your sights trained on the metal armor glistening in the hot sun.
When you finally reach Din, you stand for a moment looking at him, then a sound escapes you halfway between a sob and shout, and you shove him – hard. He stumbles backwards but remains on his feet.
“What the hell were you thinking?” You don’t think you’ve ever been this angry in your life. Fury radiates from every cell in your body, and still Din just stares at you. Then you hug him. Neither of you are expecting it, and his body stiffens immediately in surprise, but when you feel him relax and one of his arms comes up to wrap around you in return, everything suddenly feels right again. You couldn’t care less that he’s covered in gross dragon goo and that it’s probably getting all over your clothes, or that there’s a crowd of onlookers witnessing this moment between you – all you care about is the fact that he’s here, that he’s still alive.
A cheer erupts behind you as you part, and it’s not for you and Din, but for the smoking remains of the dragon nearby, and it’s soon joined by the howls of the Tuskens as they raise their weapons in victory.
It’s over. It’s done. And as you look up at Din, you can think of many things worth celebrating.
***
And celebrate, you do.
As much as he had wanted to make a quiet exit once he had collected his promised armor from Cobb, you had managed to convince Din to stay in Mos Pelgo just a little longer for the revelries. It had been a long time since you’d stayed anywhere close to civilization, let alone had a good reason to celebrate; and though you’d grown used to the comfortable silence of the Razor Crest, there’s some comfort in being surrounded by happy, chattering people for once, instead of the lonely vacuum of space.
Cobb had asked you back personally for a couple of drinks at the bar, and though the invitation had been extended to both of you, Din had failed to take it that way. In hindsight, you suppose your initial run-in with Cobb is to blame for this sudden standoffish behavior, since your contribution to convincing the man to hand over the beskar had involved you telling him that the helmet was ‘a waste on a face like his’. You guess that comment hadn’t sat too well with Din, but it had just sort of slipped out. What could you say? The guy was a looker. Yet even now, as Cobb glances over at your table from the bar, offering a warm, friendly smile in your direction, you find yourself distracted.
You look around and finally spot Din. He’d been radiating quiet irritation since arriving back, and stands now in the furthest corner of the room, watching the festivities with what you imagined was a sulky expression beneath the helmet. The Child sits by his feet, on the sandy floor, playing with something round and shiny, completely absorbed in his own little world.
“I take it Mandalorian’s aren’t much for parties,” Cobb comments as he finally reaches your side with drinks, breaking you from you trance. He sits down beside you and slides one of the glasses of bright-blue liquid your way.
“What do you mean?” you ask.
He nods over towards Din whose gaze is currently burning into you, and you shift uncomfortably trying to find somewhere else to direct your attention, unsure why you don’t just look at Cobb. You realize why when your eyes shift back to him and the feeling of being watched intensifies.
“Him?” you reply, trying to sound casual, now hyperaware that Din is currently reading every detail of this interaction, “Oh, he usually just prefers the quiet, you know? Not really the social type. He’s only here because I asked.”
“Just watching over his girl, huh?” Cobb teases, taking a swig of his spotchka.
“His gir—What are talking about?”
He frowns before giving you a knowing look, then risks a quick, pointed glance towards Din, who he’s noticed hasn’t turned his gaze away from you for longer than a few seconds the entire evening.
“We’re just friends,” you tell him, even if that label doesn’t feel quite right to you. “It’s not like that.” You take a mouthful of drink just to give yourself something to do, and wince at the unexpected bitterness. When you glance back over at Din, your cheeks heat up a little when you realize he’s still looking back. You finally drop your gaze away, reassuring yourself that the weird feeling you’ve suddenly gotten in your stomach is just the alcohol taking affect, but when you look back at Cobb you catch him smirking at you.
“We’re friends,” you repeat, wondering who you’re trying to convince now, since Cobb seems pretty damn decided on the matter. “Colleagues, you know. We’ve just been through a lot together.” You frown as he chuckles. “What?”
“I did not just spend two days listening to the two of you bicker like an old married couple, to hear you say that you two are ‘just friends’.”
“I don’t know what to tell you. I guess I just don’t look at him that way.”
“Oh, darlin’, everybody sees how you look at him.”
You think back to the desert, to your arms wrapping around him like he might disappear again at any moment; to the arm that had pulled you closer and squeezed you in return.
You take another gulp of spotchka to calm the fluttering feeling in your belly, and shoot a quick glance over to see if he’s still looking at you.
But he’s gone.
Panic floods over you.
You look around the room, hoping you don’t look as desperate as you suddenly feel, when Cobb nudges you. You look back at him and he nods to the door, where you just manage to catch a flash of cape and armor and Din disappears through it into the night.
Cobb smiles. “Go on. Go talk to the guy. I’ll still be here if you want another drink. If not, I hope we meet again someday.” He tips his glass towards you and you nod, managing a brief smile of appreciation as you stand.
Your legs feel heavy as you walk towards the exit. It’s dark outside – almost pitch black aside from a scattering of light coming through a few windows, and the few fires burning outside to keep people warm on the cold desert night – and you breathe a sigh of relief as you spot Din still standing out on the road. It looks like the kid is giving him some trouble, his fussy cries reaching your ears easily in the quiet. He settles as soon as he sees you, though, and Din turns to see what has the ability to calm him so quickly.
Of course, it’s you, he thinks. He should have known – you have the same effect on him.
“Hey,” you greet, still fighting back these unexplained nerves as you approach him. You’d known him for years, spent a lot of time in his company, and been through a lot together, but it’s the first time you feel nervous around him.
“Hey,” he replies simply, “I was just heading to take him back to the ship.” He pauses like he’s weighing up what he wants to say next, then adds, “When should I expect you back?”
“Back?”
“I can meet you there in the morning if that’s more suitable.”
He’s acting weird, and though you know exactly why, you can’t help but frown at the bitterness in his tone. He’s trying to keep it cool and calm around the kid. You wonder what he’d be saying instead if it was just the two of you.
“Why would you do that? Why would—” You hate what he’s implying, but you need him to say it, to admit why it’s a problem for him – to know if Cobb’s right. “Where am I supposed to be in all of this?”
You stare at him, the question written on your furrowed brow, wondering if he has the guts to admit the accusation outright.
He looks back towards the bar and then back at you, cocking his helmet as if he’s expecting you to be the one to make the confession, even if there is a low rage bubbling away inside of him at the thought of it. He thinks back to the desert, to the feeling of your arms wrapped around him, to the way his own arm had come up instinctually to hold you closer, and he thinks of how much he wants that again.
“I’m coming back to the ship,” you tell him.
“Don’t do that on my account,” he replies, and you swear he says things like that just to piss you off.
Before you can formulate a response, he turns away and starts walking towards his borrowed landspeeder. The Child looks back at you over his shoulder and stretches his little arms towards you with a cry, but Din ignores it.
You almost shout his name, forgetting for a moment where you are, and instead splutter out an awkward ‘Mando!’, which you haven’t called him in over a year; not since he entrusted you with his true name. He stops and slowly turns back. By now the kid is wriggling and fussing so much in his arms that he has to put him down, and the little one immediately heads towards you, reaching up to be held. You scoop him up and Din watches as the kid coos happily and buries his face in your hair. He’d thought they were leaving without you, Din realizes, and he can’t help but wonder if the kid’s picked up on his own emotions too – at his own distress at the thought of leaving you behind.
He watches you for a moment as you soothe the Child, observing the tender way you fuss over him, and feels guilt start to creep over him.
“I am doing it on your account,” you tell him firmly, after a moment, finally looking back at him again, and his helmet tilts slightly as he stares back at you. You screw up your face like you hate the idea of having to say the next words out loud, but you do anyway for his sake. “I’m not interested in the marshal.”
He makes a non-committal noise like he either doesn’t believe you or he’s pretending it’s not a big deal, and you roll your eyes, turning your attention back to the kid.
You wonder what you can say, how you’re going to make him understand what you’re feeling, because you can’t go back to the ship like this – things can’t just keep on going how they have been, with the arguments and all these unspoken words that are causing them. So, you step forward, closing the gap between the two of you as you rest a hand against his chest plate to get his attention.
Din stares down at you, heart thumping as he tries to read your expression and figure out what you’re going to say before you say it, hoping he’ll be less caught off guard this way.
You reach up to the back of his helmet, guiding him down towards you, muttering, “Come here, you idiot.” Then you press your forehead to the cold beskar of his helmet and find a way to tell him.
“Where you go, I go.”
He seems to understand that well enough.

What Was Bound, What Was Loosed Chapter 3
Written for Dannymay Day 6: Core.
.
Ellie took to spending her days in the palace library.
Danny thought he was trapped. Believed he was trapped. So did everyone else. But Ellie didn’t believe it. All cages had keys. Danny had opened hers. It was only right that she return the favor.
(Of course, she wasn’t happy about being stuck herself. There were still things she wanted to see on Earth. She missed the stars.)
The books were old and new. Some were in English, others were in languages she couldn’t even begin to recognize. Most of them had nothing to do with what she was looking for. Like in any library, they were on a wide variety of subjects, all spread out.
Still, she searched. The stack of tomes that had to do with ghostly kingship and the laws of the Infinite Realms grew progressively larger. Occasionally, one of the shades would attempt to put the books back, but they were easily dissuaded, having no will of their own.
She was making progress. Not a lot, but some. Enough to keep her going.
.
Vlad knew when to quit.
Oh, maybe it didn’t seem like it, he was easily as obsessive as any ghost, but he did. Sometimes, a plan just wasn’t feasible, and he had to cut his losses.
Cutting his losses, in this case, meant getting incredibly drunk on ghost wine. Fright Knight didn’t approve, but who cared what he thought? Fright Knight was part of the reason he was in this situation in the first place!
If he had just been warned this would happen, he’d have been able to make arrangements, to find some way to keep his portal open, or to stay in the human world, where his life was.
But no. They were all trapped here. No way out.
When hundreds of ghosts all said the same thing, Vlad was inclined to believe them. Danielle, as motivated as she was, was simply experiencing denial. Or, perhaps, bargaining. He had to admit he was never exactly clear on the stages of grief.
Then, there was Daniel, who seemed to be firmly trapped in the ‘depression’ stage, more of a ghost than Vlad had ever seen him as. He lingered in corners, at the edge of Vlad’s vision, quiet, sad, always flanked by Fright Knight and that other ghost, the one with the clocks.
There were parts of him, his Obsession reasserting itself, that yearned to reach out to Danny, but… He didn’t even know how to begin.
.
Danny felt like a pale, wandering shadow of himself.
Most of the time, he slept, exhausted by the demands the Zone made on him and the continuing changes he was undergoing. The expanding circle of vitality, of rejuvenation, of reconstruction and growth, that so many ghosts were celebrating had to draw energy from somewhere, after all, and even though Danny was absorbing just as much as he was expending, that process made him drowsy in and of itself.
Pain, too, plagued him. His missing eye ached, and sometimes it seemed as if the crown was burrowing into his skull, not merely resting on it. His hand hurt from all his attempts to take off the ring.
He could hardly care for himself in even the most basic of ways. Clockwork often had to remind him, or help him, and he was always so excruciatingly gentle.
Then Vlad and Ellie came.
Their arrival was a relief. Ellie was a friend, was family, and hadn’t been complicit in his betrayal and binding. Vlad had been an enemy, and not even an honest one at that, but essentially everything they’d been at odds over was moot, but he was familiar.
Despite the relief, despite his desire to connect with people who hadn’t hurt him, at least not as badly as everyone else, he hung back. He didn’t know what to do, didn’t know how to bridge the gap.
So, he lurked and lingered. When Ellie went to the library, when Vlad moped and bothered the shades that ordered the kitchen, he followed, he watched.
Clockwork and Fright Knight, of course, followed and watched him in turn.
At least, this is what happened when he was awake and aware enough to do anything. Danny was under the impression that being awake and independently mobile at all this soon after being… coronated… was unusual, perhaps even unnerving. Normally, he’d be curious, excited about new abilities and what they might mean. Maybe he’d even throw around a quip or two about how awesome he was but…
It wasn’t the time, and he didn’t have the willpower to reach for even that dubious coping mechanism.
In the too-numerous times when Danny was both awake and not well enough to follow Ellie and Vlad around, he liked to sit in the garden. It was almost peaceful there, by the fountain, although the plants had a distressing tendency to reflect his every change in mood.
Today was one of those days. He was too dizzy and lightheaded to drift after Vlad or Ellie, even if neither of them moved very much, but he didn’t want to stay in the bedroom, or, worse, the throne room. His core seemed to pulse, sluggish and painful in his chest. Or perhaps that was his heart. He couldn’t really tell with this mixed-up form. It could even be both.
Another slow wave of transformation swept out from him, making his extremities tingle. He watched, tiredly, as it briefly interacted with the walls of the palace and the scattered shades before moving on. The shades… another aspect of all this that Danny wasn’t comfortable with, but couldn’t bring himself to learn more about. They were sustained through his power, but what were they? Extensions of his will? Aspects of his personality? Constructs generated by the palace? By the Ghost Zone itself? He didn’t know.
As much as he should try to learn, he couldn’t help but think of them as yet another imposition, another burden he was being forced to bear.
This wasn’t a healthy mindset. Jazz would tell him as much. Jazz wasn’t here.
“Danny!”
He looked up, his one eye already searching for Ellie. Fright Knight stepped forward, as if to protect him, but Danny snarled at him, annoyed. He wasn’t going to let him get in between him and one of the few people he could currently stand. Clockwork stayed back, passive, but he looked… worried. Uneasy. As if anticipating a disaster.
“Danny!” exclaimed Ellie again, bursting from a bush, a thick book raised above her head. “I found it!”
“Found what?” asked Danny, leaning forward slightly as Ellie joined him sitting on the edge of the fountain.
“A way out!” She opened the book and started flipping through it, obviously looking for a specific entry.
Both Clockwork and Fright Knight looked extremely tense, now. They probably didn’t want him to find this, didn’t want him to leave. Would they try to stop him?
He hunched his shoulders. He might not be well, but he could fight and make it hurt.
“Here!” said Ellie, triumphantly. “Look at this.” She tapped a picture of a bright, spherical object.
“The core of the Infinite Realms?” asked Danny, reading the legend of the picture.
“Uh huh. Apparently, it’s what determines what the Ghost Zone is like as a whole and controls the rules and laws and stuff. Like, even when it comes to what ghosts act like, and what they can physically do, or how the Ghost Zone’s physics behave. But the important part is that you can go talk to it and petition it and stuff, and sometimes it’ll listen. I bet we can get it to listen to you and make it so that the Ghost Zone doesn’t need a king anymore.”
Danny felt a flutter of hope. The book was old from what he could see, and, ignoring Ellie’s paraphrasing, the language was fantastical and couched in metaphor, but still if there was a possibility…
Near their feet, small, bright flowers began to bloom, each no larger than the head of a pin.
“Daniel,” said Clockwork, in a careful, soft tone. It wasn’t pity, not quite, but it was the verbal equivalent of being handled with kid gloves. “It doesn’t work like that.”
“Then what is it like?” asked Danny, hunching his shoulders and leaning protectively over Ellie.
“What do you think the King of the Infinite Realms is?” asked Clockwork.
Danny shrugged. Clockwork gave him a small, pained smile.
“The King of Ghosts and the core of the Ghost Zone,” said Clockwork, “they’re the same.”
Danny shook his head, unwilling to let this scrap of hope slip through his fingers so easily.
“Please, Daniel,” said Clockwork. “Why do you think it was so vital that you be crowned? The Realms cannot exist without their core.”
It made sense. A horrible, horrible sense.
“That doesn’t make sense,” said Ellie. “The core’s supposed to be the basis the whole Zone is built on. That can’t just be one person.”
“The library has some books on the subject,” said Clockwork. “But you can see how Daniel is changing things.”
Danny felt his hope collapse and doubled over, hands on his head, face almost touching his legs. A scream bubbled up in his throat, but he swallowed it. All those people, everywhere, his responsibility, his… Not just the people, everything. Everywhere. Not just his responsibility, but relying on him, modeled on him, dependent on him, centered on him.
He wasn’t just the Ghost Zone’s ruler, nominal or not, he was its heart.
“Danny?” asked Ellie. He looked up.
There were blast lines in the ground, radiating away from him. The fountain was cracked and leaking water. Fright Knight had, evidently, grabbed Ellie and leaped away, into the air.
Clockwork hadn’t left, still leaning towards Danny. There was a jagged, dripping slice across his shoulder. Danny gasped, reaching towards him.
“It’s alright,” said Clockwork. “It’s alright.”
“I can’t be,” said Danny. “I can’t be. I’m—I can’t be part of the Ghost Zone. Not—Not like that. That’s not—I can’t be what the Ghost Zone is built on, it doesn’t make sense, I…”
“It’s alright,” repeated Clockwork. “Would you like to go inside? You may feel better if you eat something.”
“Don’t want to bother Vlad,” mumbled Danny. Didn’t want another person to see him crumbling like this.
“We can send something up to your room,” said Clockwork.
He did feel tired. The fountain was repairing itself behind and underneath him. He groaned as the ground beneath him pulled together as well.
“I don’t want to be the core of the Ghost Zone,” he said, knowing that what he wanted was not and never had been a consideration. “I don’t want to be king. I don’t want to be in charge of anything.” He grabbed the edges of Clockwork’s robe, ignoring the moisture despite the pang of guilt it brought him. “I want to go home. And I…” His words failed as he reached for Clockwork’s injury. “I don’t want to do this.”
“This is nothing, Daniel,” putting a gloved hand over the wound. “I have had far worse.”
It started to rain. Great, heavy droplets of water tainted with just enough ectoplasm to glow.
It was one way to hide tears, he supposed.

Off-Kilter (Haikyuu!!)
Primary Universe
@veryblushyswitch Thank you! I'm having a lot of fun writing them! (It's kind of weird seeing your old picture there now, lol.) Anyway, thank you for the fun prompt! I went with Kageyama as the lee because that boy deserves all the tickles. Enjoy! ^^
~
The gym door slid open, and all Noya could think was, finally. Only it wasn’t Asahi, like he’d been expecting. It was Kageyama. What made his arrival even more out of place was that Hinata wasn’t bounding in ahead of or after him.
Still, practice was practice.
“Hey, Kageyama,” he called, drawing the first-year’s attention. “Grab a ball and help me practice my receives.”
Kageyama blinked. “Sure.”
Where is Asahi? Noya wondered. The only reason he was here at this ungodly hour of the morning was because the ace had asked him to help him practice serves. For that matter, if Kageyama was here, where was Hinata? It was unusual for the two of them not to arrive together.
Just as the setter was grabbing a ball out of the basket after shedding his club jacket, Tanaka entered, yawning. Noya stared at him. He never arrived early. What was going on today?
Well, the more the merrier.
“Tanaka! You, too. Get a ball and start serving. Let’s go!”
“It is way too early for you to be this hyper, my dude,” Tanaka mumbled good-naturedly, following the libero’s orders.
“Blame Asahi. He said he’d be here and he’s not. I’ve got a bone to pick with him and it’s making me antsy.”
“Uh-huh.”
“Noya,” Kageyama called from the opposite side of the net. “Ready?”
Noya nodded, getting into position. “Bring it on.”
For the next several minutes, Noya practiced his receiving while Kageyama and Tanaka practiced their serves. The latter was getting much better; he’d even begun to form a pre-serve routine, which Noya found hilarious. But it was effective, so he wasn’t complaining. Their setter, though, was off his game today. His serves were consistent in getting over the net, but not in landing where they were meant to, which made Noya have to work even harder to receive them. Again, he wasn’t complaining; it was good practice. But the libero did have to wonder what exactly was going on in this gym this morning. Everything felt…off, somehow.
And Asahi still wasn’t showing up. Noya would give him a good scolding for that later, for sure.
Finally, after about fifteen minutes, Tanaka tossed a serve over the right side of the net that Noya received perfectly. But directly after his serve, Kageyama served as well, evidently having not realized the libero wasn’t ready for him yet. Still, Noya made a valiant effort by lunging to the left side of the court and thrusting out his arm.
“Rolling thunder!” he yelled dramatically, barely catching the ball’s landing with the top of his hand. It bounced once, then landed outside the court a few feet away.
“Sorry,” Kageyama called. “That was my bad.”
“Dude, you’re all sorts of off-kilter this morning,” Noya observed, getting to his feet with a grin. He put his hands on his hips. “Did you not get enough sleep or something?”
“Our royal highness needs his beauty rest,” Tanaka teased.
Kageyama bristled. “Shut up! I got enough sleep. I’m just not energized yet.”
“It’s because you and Hinata didn’t race your butts off trying to get here before the sun this morning, huh?”
The setter didn’t deny it.
Noya shrugged, ducking under the net to join them on their side of the court. “That’s okay. We’ll help you wake up. We can run laps around the gym.”
Tanaka groaned. “Noyaaaa, why do you have to be like that?”
“What? Running laps is important exercise. Besides, it’s probably about time we switched things up anyway. The others will be here eventually. It would be good to have a head start; show them what sleeping in gets them.” When neither of his teammates moved, Noya reached forward to grab each of their wrists and start pulling. “Come on, you lazy bums. Let’s go. Just a few laps, come on.”
Tanaka groaned but eventually gave in. Kageyama started jogging, but not very quickly.
Noya laughed. “You’re both so slow! How about this – if I get my laps in before you I’ll make you do finger push-ups at the end.”
With that, the libero took off, Tanaka right behind him. “You can’t tell me what to do, you little spiky-haired brat! I’m a second-year, same as you!”
“Doesn’t matter! Everyone knows I’m the team’s star. You gotta listen to me if you want to get better!”
“I’ll show you!”
The second-years raced around the gym, blazing past Kageyama once, twice, and then a third time before finally completing their five laps. Despite Noya’s threat, the setter didn’t seem to be in any hurry.
Pumped up from the race, both Noya and Tanaka barreled towards the first-year, yelling at the top of their lungs. Kageyama turned but had no time to react before they were on him, tackling him to the floor of the gym. The libero then recalled a play from Hinata’s book and smirked, starting to poke up and down his side.
Kageyama giggled immediately, unable to hold back despite how much he wished he could. “Ah! No!”
“Wake up, Kageyama,” Noya teased.
“No, dohohon’t!”
Tanaka grinned like the Tasmanian Devil and joined in, skipping over poking and going straight to digging into his ribs. “Come on, bro! You can’t be that sluggish without Hinata! Wake up!”
“Stop!” Kageyama pleaded, smiling uncontrollably. He tried to sit up and push them away, but they each grabbed a shoulder and pushed him back down, keeping him in place while they tickled him gently. “Guys!”
Noya smirked. “You know, watching you get stuck in the door of that bus was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.”
“Ugh, lehehehet it go alreadyehehehehe!”
“No kidding! He couldn’t even move,” Tanaka agreed. “It was hilarious!”
“S-Stahahap! D-Don’t tihihickle me!”
The second-years exchanged glances, grinning wickedly at each other and then at Kageyama. Without a word, they each went all in, grabbing at whatever ticklish spots they could reach on his torso as he jerked and started thrashing beneath them, giggles turning to laughter.
“Nohohohohoho! Stahahahap it! Dohohohohon’t – nohohohohohohoho!” The setter squealed, shoving desperately at the hands digging into his stomach. He kicked his legs frantically. “Nohohoya, Tanaka, stahahahahahahahap!”
“Are you awake yet?” Noya asked, smiling wide at his younger teammate.
“Yehehehehes, I’m awahahahahake!”
Tanaka hummed. “Are you suuuure?”
Kageyama couldn’t stop giggling to save his life, and it was embarrassing him. How pathetic was he, being this ridiculously sensitive to the lightest touch? He tried to roll onto his side but only succeeded in giving Tanaka better access to his lower back and spine, making him flop right back down. “Ahahahahahaha, stahahahahahap! Plehehehehehease!”
“All right, I guess that’s enough,” Noya said, removing his fingers and sitting back, proud of the work they’d done. “Feeling a little more energized now?”
“Ugh…y-yeah, whatever,” Kageyama said with a groan, sitting up. A flash of orange caught his eye, and when he turned to look over Tanaka’s shoulder he saw Hinata standing there, eyes bright and smile wide, looking like he wanted to run a million laps. The setter’s eyes widened. “Hinata!”
“Are you tickling him? Can I join?” Hinata asked, not wasting any time.
Kageyama scrambled to his feet. “No, no! They’re not – you can’t – no!” He turned on his heel and sprinted away as the tiny redhead leaped at him, fingers wiggling and already laughing for the both of them. “Stay away! Hinata, no! No! Back off!”
Noya and Tanaka got to their feet as well, grinning at the two of them sprinting around the court, Kageyama deftly escaping Hinata’s speed only by making sudden, sharp u-turns as he ran, throwing the little decoy off.
“Well,” Tanaka said, “I see he has no problem running laps now.”
Noya chuckled. “Hinata certainly is a good motivator for him, that’s for sure.”
“Hey guys,” a new voice entered the mix, and they turned to see one of the third-years enter the gym. “Sorry I’m late.”
“Asahi!” Noya snapped, marching up to the much taller ace, suddenly remembering why he wanted to release his pent-up energy in the first place. “You told me to be here at five! Five! In the morning! What time is it now?”
Asahi held up his hands defensively. “I’m sorry, I overslept—”
“Do you know what I’ve had to put up with while I’ve been waiting for your butt to get here? These underclassmen are impossible!”
Tanaka held up a finger. “Uh, hello, I’m a second-year just like you.”
Across the gym, Hinata shrieked as Kageyama suddenly turned around and caught him around the waist, shoving him to the floor and hooking his fingers into his ribs. “Ah! Nohohohohohoho fahahahahair, Kahahahageyama!”
Noya kept shouting at Asahi. “It took me nearly thirty minutes to get Kageyama fired up enough to practice properly, and now Hinata comes bursting in here and making me look like a fool!”
Asahi blinked. “Noya, I said I’m sorry—”
“And another thing…!”
Tanaka sighed, turning to leave everyone at it while he cleaned up the volleyballs spread out around the court from their earlier practice. Might as well, he thought. This could take a while.

So I'm not sure if you'll do something like this but Azul's groovy line, "let's enjoy tonight to our heart's content, let me hear you scream so loud that it'll reach the moon" can you do a yandere prompt where he recognizes her at the venue sees she's not taking pictures secretly drags her away with bandages to reward her for obeying the rules spiciness please. If not it's totally fine!
(Okay confession, i have zero idea what was going on in the Halloween event. But from what I can infer people were taking pictures of the boys without their consent? So I guess Reader is a good girl who’s gonna get dicked down for being obedient) Groovy Line: "let's enjoy tonight to our heart's content, let me hear you scream so loud that it'll reach the moon" (Yandere! Azul Ashengrotto x Fem! S/o) (WARNING NSFW AND NON-CON AHEAD)
Azul had never liked having pictures taken of him, and had tried his best to rid the world of every photo of his childhood self. Even now when he was on the cusp of adulthood, he still detested the flashing lights and clicks of cameras being aimed at him. So it would be an understatement to say he was relieved to see at least one person obeying the “no photography” rule during the Halloween party.
In fact, his attention remained on the solitary figure who did not hold their phone at the ready for picture taking. After looking at them long enough, recognition kicked in and he found himself grinning softly. (Y/n) was just one of the many first years that had been sorted into Octavinelle at the start of term. However, she’d carved out a unique niche for herself with her talent for song. Despite himself, there had been times Azul had been distracted from his work on contracts by the sound of (Y/n)’s soft voice ringing through the empty Monstro Lounge before opening time and after closing time each day. Over time, the octopus boy had come to the revelation that he had a crush on the girl and struggled with how to confess his feelings to her without embarrassing himself severely. He’d made up his mind just to never tell her how he felt. Yet tonight… he was feeling a bit bolder than usual. So as he gazed at (Y/n) a plan began to form in his mind, he quietly excused himself from the others claiming that fatigue had finally caught up with him. Only he did not leave, instead concealing himself in the shadows of the room waiting for the right moment to grab (Y/n). The opportunity eventually arrived as the girl parted from her friends to grab herself a drink and with a simple spell, Azul was able to bind her in the excess bandages dangling from his costume. Without wasting a second, the octopus scooped (Y/n) up and headed back to Octavinelle cooing into the young woman’s ear as they made the journey to the dorm. (Y/n) tried to scream for help but the bandages over her mouth muffled her cries completely.
Azul kicked open the door to his room before locking the door behind them with a magic spell. He didn't want any interruptions, not even by the twins, tonight while he showed his affections for (Y/n). Dropping the girl on the bed he used another spell to remove the bandages from his costume but not from the girl’s arms which bound themselves neatly against the headboard above her head. “I’ll never understand why land-dwellers are so bad at following instructions. Everyone at that party knew damn well they weren’t supposed to take pictures and yet they were snapping photos left and right. Except you, you were the only person there who respected the no photography rule. Good behavior like that deserves to be rewarded, don’t you think?” Azul said with a purr as he sat on the bed and caressed (Y/n)’s cheek.
“Besides I’ve been waiting for awhile to do this you know. Ever since I heard that lovely singing voice of yours, I’ve been wondering what you’d sound like in the throes of pleasure. How you’d sound when you’ve completely lost your rational mind to a fit of passion” the octopus went on pressing a hungry kiss to (Y/n)’s lips as he made himself comfortable between her legs and continued caressing her cheeks. “The thought of it all makes me so excited” Azul crooned as he broke from the kiss, panting lightly as he did so. He went in for another greedy liplock, his hands dropping from the girl’s face to tug at her clothes insistently. When the fabric did not give as easily as he wished, the young man simply tore it apart before groping roughly at (Y/n)’s boobs and drawing a gasp from her that allowed him to slip his tongue in her mouth. Azul brought his knee against (Y/n)’s crotch, grinding insistently as his fingers pinched at her breasts through the bra she still wore. However, he would not be satisfied by this indirect contact for long and ripped the girl's bra in half so her bust spilled free into his waiting hands. Once again he broke away from a kiss, this time to start peppering hickies on the young woman’s neck and shoulders before latching onto one of her tits. Sucking roughly on (Y/n)’s breast left one of Azul’s hands free to dart between her legs and start teasing her cunt through the fabric of her panties before eventually pulling the garment aside to tease her clit directly. The girl let out a soft moan and tried to squeeze her legs shut to deny him further access to her intimates but found that quite impossible with the octo-boy situated so snuggly between her thighs. Azul removed the hand still toying with (Y/n)’s chest to start fumbling with his own clothes and free his already half-hard cock from its leather prison. He jerked himself off while at the same time beginning to finger the girl in earnest and drawing even more cute noises from her lips. In fact, if the young man wasn’t careful he might just lose it from hearing her voice tremble so sweetly for him. It took a great force of will to stop, forcing himself to stop jerking it even as he was about to burst and pulling his fingers free of (Y/n)’s pussy which clung to his fingers like a vice as he removed them. The girl let out a disappointed whine that made both Azul’s heart and cock twitch in longing. However, the octo-boy contented himself for a moment by licking his fingers clean of her sweet fluids and then positioning the head of his cock at her entrance. “Let's enjoy tonight to our heart's content, Angelfish” Azul said as he began sinking into her warm depths with a groan. The term of endearment slipped off his tongue so easily and it felt so right. (Y/n) was his Angelfish, and she’d always be his Angelfish as long as he had a say in the matter. “Let me hear you scream so loud that it'll reach the moon” he added as he continued sheathing himself in his darling’s tight cavern with another groan leaving his lips. Once he was all the way in, Azul stilled to allow (Y/n) to get used to the sensation of him being inside her. Only when the girl’s body had relaxed did he begin to move, thrusting in and out of her with a slow but steady pace. At first, the young woman tried to stay quiet but eventually she couldn’t hold back her cries anymore as a series of moans slipped from her lips like a waterfall. Azul smiled softly, picking up speed a little but still making an effort to hit (Y/n)’s sweet spot as he took hold of one of her bound hands. Entwining their fingers as he pressed his lips against his love’s and swallowing the adorable sounds she made before they even reached the air. The octopus picked up the pace once more as the climax he’d denied himself before began building again and this time he would see it through. He came with a low growl and his hips stuttered as he filled (Y/n)’s cunt with his seed. However he was not finished quite yet, no he wanted to make his darling see stars before he’d be satisfied. So after a few breaths to collect himself, Azul began thrusting once more, focused on making (Y/n) cum as he latched onto her breast once more and sucked until the combined stimulation drove her over the edge and she came all over his cock. Having achieved his goal, Azul collapsed while still buried deep in (Y/n)’s pussy. He was careful not to put his weight on her as he panted softly and nuzzled his face between her boobs. After he’d somewhat recovered he set about undoing the bandages around his darling’s wrists before removing her ripped shirt and bra. The next thing he did was finally pull out of her if only to remove her skirt and panties and throw them on the floor. With (Y/n) totally naked, Azul attended to himself discarding his clothes onto the floor beside hers and tucking both of them under the covers. He pulled the young woman against his chest, intent on spooning her when he noticed she’d begun to tremble. The octo-boy held her closer, mumbling words of affection into her ear hoping that his feelings were being conveyed properly. Eventually, the girl’s trembling stopped as she drifted off to sleep. It didn't take long before Azul was nodding off as well, the fatigue he’d claimed to have finally kicking in now that the adrenaline of making (Y/n) his one and only was draining from his system. He barely had the energy to set his glasses on the nightstand and get comfortable again as thoughts of what he’d do with his love tomorrow began swirling in his head and a sleepy smile spread across his face… THE END

Summary: Ten long years after her return to the land of the living, the queen of Hyrule takes her first steps out of her comfort zone with her groom’s hand in hers.
Masterlist
“Tighter.”
I suffered through my struggle to breathe as my lady’s maid tightened my corset to its limits. This was for an occasion that would occur once and never again. If ever had there been a time when I’d needed to look my absolute best, it was now.
My eyes constantly kept returning to the clock on the wall. There was only one hour left before the ceremony was scheduled to commence. I wasn’t even at the Temple of Time, and yet I already felt close to fainting. I looked in the mirror, and I still had the waist width of an obese hynox. “Honestly, can’t you make it any tighter?” I snapped.
“Your Majesty, please try to remain calm,” pleaded one of my maids. I nodded; she was right. I was really letting my stress get the best of me. “My deepest apologies if I’m speaking out of line, but, ehm...I feel it necessary to mention something that your lover spoke to us about.”
When had Link possibly found the time to seek out my own group of personal attendants to tell them something? “Not at all. Go on.”
“Yes. He told us to put your comfort at the highest priority rather than your appearance. He said, quote, ‘Today means more to us than any other day of our lives up until now, so it’s imperative that her memory of it is not plagued by discomfort.’ He was quite insistent about it, I tell you.”
My heart fluttered. It was just like him to go out of his way like that for my sake. I swallowed my pride. “Very well.”
“Would you like me to loosen your corset then?”
“Yes, please,” I heaved. “Thank you.”
I’d recently been blessed with the rare opportunity to be freed from my royal responsibilities for a few days. This was something that only happened for me once or perhaps twice a year. Luckier still, Link had managed to secure a week-long leave from his duties as general of the Calamity Defence Brigade in conjunction with my time off. Since it had been ages since we’d had the chance, we decided to go on a proper adventure like we’d used to in the days when our kingdom had still been in its early stages of restoration. I suggested we spend our few days of freedom in Kakariko Village to pay a long overdue visit to our old friends who lived there, and he proposed that we set out on a hiking trip as well just to make things more exciting and to get outside for a change.
However, I‘d neglected to discern that ‘hiking trip,’ in Linkish, translated to ‘long and arduous climb up a near vertical mountain range.’ It was now an hour or so past midnight, and the two of us were making our way up the side of the cliff just south of Lanayru Road. As one might expect from someone who’s spent roughly the last half decade cooped up in the castle and filling out scroll after scroll of political documents, I was remarkably out of shape. My partner, however, was just as full of energy as he’d been in those olden days, scrambling up the rocky hills with ease. Even by the time we’d reached a level where he was able to stand and walk, I was still trudging along on all fours, barely able to carry my own weight. The gracious gentleman he was, he offered to carry me on his back for a ways when he saw what a sad state I was in.
Not long after I’d recovered strength enough to walk on my own, I started to feel a chill in the air. It was already quite cold to begin with on account of the high altitude, but now my snowquill tunic was beginning to fail me. I stiffened, watching my breath come out in billowing puffs of fog. With Link just a few steps ahead, he looked over his shoulder and came to a stop, nearly causing me to walk straight into him. He smiled mysteriously.
I turned in the direction he faced and spotted the cause of the sudden drop in temperature. In the distance, but steadily drawing nearer, was none other than the spirit Naydra. My eyes probably looked like they were ready to pop out of my skull in that moment.
Before I could fully grasp the situation, he’d already begun retrieving his paraglider from his bag, which he’d propped up against one of the monumental stone pillars dotting the hillside. “Hold onto me.” He held his hand out, holding both handles of the glider in the other. The dragon of ice and snow continued her rapid approach. “Zelda, quickly!” I rushed to his side. He hooked his arm around my waist, and I clung to him tightly by his shoulders.
“Link, are you sure this—ahh!”
A biting gust of wind came our way, and then the feeling of solid earth beneath my feet vanished.
I cried out in terror as he and I were swept upward. I’d used a paraglider before—I even had one of my own—but I’d never considered the thought of sharing one with another. And yet, to my surprise, we were still alive. I summoned the courage to open my eyes, and the moment I did, I was mesmerized.
Naydra was gliding around the two of us, encapsulating us in a vortex created by her flowing, river-like body that shined in a brilliant array of colours the likes of which I’d never beheld up close before. Silently, I gazed up at Link, whose cheeks were coral-coloured from the cold and whose locks danced about his face in the breeze. He wore the serene expression of one who’d had many a chance to experience this sort of thing, but was still just as awestruck as he’d been the first time. Despite the arctic winds nipping at me constantly through my clothes, feeling his arm around my waist holding me fast to his familiar frame filled me to the brim with a tangible sense of warmth and safety.
Naydra guided us with her winds to the top of the stone pillar, and I relaxed at the feeling of the ground beneath me, which was covered in iridescent blue flowers of all different kinds. The spirit of wisdom looked at us with respect in her ancient eyes. Link’s arm stroked up and down my back passively, still wrapped around my waist. Her icy breath touched my face gently and gracefully before she turned and disappeared into the sky.
“Zelda...?”
I turned around in his hold and bumped noses with him on accident, making us both crack a smile. I hadn’t quite finished laughing when he cupped my face and touched his lips to mine. Our embrace lasted an age. A symphony of strings had burst into song deep within my heart. It almost felt like we’d left the ground again as the sound of the wind caressing the flora flew into my ears.
When we parted, he touched his forehead softly to my own. I mirrored his blissful smile, whispering an, “I love you,” and laying my palm over his hand which rested against my cheek.
“I love you,” he echoed. Behind him, the sky was awash with tears of the Goddesses. Down below, the lights of the village shined just as brilliantly. I no longer felt any hint of the cold.
Link let go of me and knelt down on one knee. He then reached into his pouch and pulled out a small box, which he opened to reveal a ring. My hand flew up to my parted lips.
“Will you be my wife?”
My eyes became damp with tears. Of course, there was only one answer.
“Yes.”
Six tireless months of preparation had passed, and the ceremony was now underway. My whole body was more tense than the string of a bow. After an eternity of holding my breath as I waited outside in my carriage, watching the parade of participants walk one by one through the temple doors, my moment had arrived. I made my way up to the looming Doors of Time, and I peered in to see a grand sanctuary decked from one end to the other with stunning floral decor courtesy of Magda, a lovely lady Link had introduced me to with a passion for gardening and flower arrangement. At the far end on either side of the Goddess statue were our bridesmaids and groomsmen all standing in a row. At Her feet stood the priest and, in front of him, my soon-to-be husband whose jaw had dropped to the floor at the sight of me in my full regalia.
I tried my best to keep breathing normally whilst I took in the vast number of attendees filling up the main floor and the gallery through my peripheral vision. They were all trusted friends of ours, of course. However, my level of acquaintanceship with them did not change the fact that most were important figures of society who had high expectations of me, the queen of Hyrule. It was with this in mind that I held my head high, staying vehemently focused on my posture and the way I put each foot in front of the other as I walked down the carpeted aisle.
I held my bouquet in one hand and lifted the skirt of my dress with the other as I ascended the stairs leading to the altar, my train trailing gracefully behind me. I took my place beside Link and turned to face him, allowing him to remove my veil. It was subtle, but I’d without a doubt caught his lips forming the word, “Breathtaking.” I wanted to comment on how he looked equally as stunning in his regal, ivory attire accented by the various bits of gold decorating him from head to toe, but I’d save that for later.
At this time, the priest opened with the customary “Dearly Beloved” speech. I spotted the blur of court painter Pikango’s brush out of the corner of my eye. Although photographs were commonplace nowadays, I’d requested that he do a small-scale portrait of the ceremony with the reason being simply that Link and I were fond of his paintings.
Once the priest’s heartwarming introduction had reached its end, he looked to us and requested that we declare our vows to one and other. We’d worked out ahead of time that Link would go first. Yet if I could have predicted the true depth and authenticity of the words that were about to pass his lips, I would have taken the lead, for his vows would set the standard for my own far, far above what I could possibly meet.
“My dear Zelda,” he began in earnest,
“I still often find myself looking back on the days when I knew nothing but the sweet sound of your voice. In those days that I spent scouring the land for little scraps of my life from one hundred and ten years ago, the thought of seeing your face with my own eyes and hearing your voice with my own ears was what gave me comfort during sleepless nights. I may never regain most of my memories of our past relationship, but that no longer bothers me, because since then, I have made countless precious memories with you that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Like the time we spent living in our little house in Hateno Village, where every morning I would make us breakfast while you’d try and think up new ways to use me as a test subject for your research.”
This earned a collective chuckle from the audience and put a crooked smile on my face as I tried not to laugh.
“Although I said, ‘Yes,’ when you first asked if I still loved you despite everything, I didn’t realize just how many things about you that I would later discover and fall in love with one by one: your brilliant mind, your kind and affectionate heart, and the true depth of your inextinguishable passion, just to name a few. These past years that I’ve spent by your side are what have shaped me into the man standing before you now. My hope for the future, as well as my promise to you, is that we will continue to set out on new adventures and forge new memories together for the rest of our days as husband and wife.”
To say his words had hit me straight in the heart would be an arrant understatement. It was all I could do to hold myself back from prematurely tossing my bouquet over my shoulder and kissing him to death right then and there. Instead, however, I retained my composure and proceeded to recite what I had prepared.
“Link,
“As you may have noticed, we are surrounded by silent princess flowers, a once rare breed that hadn’t yet found a place to thrive amongst civilization a century ago, but has now flourished into a prospering species that can be seen from every window in this beautiful kingdom of ours. Now, since I know you’re already renowned for your role as the hero of Hyrule, I’ll talk about something a little more personal between you and me. And that something is that you’re not just a hero to Hyrule, but even more so to me. For as long as I’ve known you, you’ve never once left my side willfully and I’ve always been able to rely on you in times of need. It’s thanks solely to your undying support over the years that my dream of taking a fallen nation and rebuilding it into something greater than ever before has since blossomed into reality.”
It was around then when I looked up to see tears forming in his eyes. He nodded curtly, urging me to continue.
“I promise to be there for you whenever you’re being too hard on yourself, and to turn to you for guidance when I do the same. I promise to remind you, when you lose sight of who you are, that you are perfect in every way no matter how many doubts you may have. I promise to always make time to spend with you, and to respect your need to be alone at times. And above all, I promise to you absolute love and trust, for although today marks the start to the rest of our lives together, I know it will not be enough time to spend with you.”
Link’s face was fixed in a sentimental smile that mirrored my own. He’d managed to hold back his tears, but it was clear to see how moved he was. Glancing around the room, I realized he and I weren’t the only ones who had gotten emotional.
With that, the time came for us to exchange rings and join hands.
“Link, please place Zelda’s ring on her fourth finger.” I raised my hand out, and he held it with the utmost care while he slipped the ring onto my extended finger. “Do you, Link, take Zelda to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in the good times and the bad, treating her as your equal for as long as you both shall live?”
He never took his eyes off me as he gave his answer. “I do.”
“Zelda, please place Link’s ring on his fourth finger.” I did as instructed, glad to hear the priest drop the honourifics for the occasion like I’d asked. Link’s ring fit perfectly on his slim, calloused finger as I put it on for him. “Do you, Zelda, take Link to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in the good times and the bad, treating him as your equal for as long as you both shall live?”
“I do.”
“Very good.” The priest closed his tome and placed it under his arm. “With that, by the power vested in me by the Goddess Hylia, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may seal your vows with a kiss.”
Of course, we couldn’t just stay in our current positions and have a light, chaste kiss—absolutely not.
Link just had to set fire to all established formalities by sweeping me off my feet and dipping me almost to the point where I was parallel with the floor. Only then did he dive in for the kiss. Roaring applause ensued. Flower petals showered down from above. In the midst of all the excitement, I could’ve sworn I heard a stifled chuckle before someone mumbled the word, “‘Seal,’” under their breath.
During the procession following the ceremony, my subjects—soon to be our subjects—were all lined up along the route to the castle, waiting to get a glimpse of the newlywed royal couple in their specially fashioned horse-drawn carriage. Upon arriving at our destination, the butterflies in my stomach began fluttering up a storm when I noticed the throngs of people that had gathered. For years, I’d hesitated announcing our relationship to the public for fear of their disapproval. But seeing their smiling faces and hearing their joyous cheers from the balcony filled me with hope. On top of that, the proud smile worn by my husband as he waved to the crowd from beside me was infectious.
The reception was spectacular, which only made it all the more terrifying. For the whole of the afternoon, the castle grounds were open to the lucky winners of a raffle that people from all over the world had been given the opportunity to participate in. To kick it off, Link and I each gave a brief speech encouraging guests to make merry and celebrate to their hearts’ content. From then on, the great hall was alive with music coupled by the din of friendly conversation, and every so often, the names and titles of new arrivals would be announced from the main entrance.
My aversion to large social gatherings like this was no secret to Link. If not for royal traditions, we both would’ve preferred to have a nice, simple wedding in the countryside and to keep our invitations limited to a select few of our closest friends. Even so, he would not accept my perfectly appropriate inclination to simply preside over the festivities from my throne. Instead, when people were beginning to partner up in the middle of the ballroom, he dragged me down one of the soaring flights of stairs by force straight into the heart of the crowd. Everything came to an abrupt halt. My stomach sank. Link, clearly pleased as punch to be the centre of attention, bowed and offered me his hand as if to say, “May I have this dance?”
Given that all eyes were now glued to us, I was left with no choice but to digress and take his hand. The moment he drew me closer and placed his other hand on my waist, the orchestra raised their instruments and began playing, which prompted the dancers to begin dancing. The tumult of twirling and sidestepping and switching of partners that then ensued had my head spinning.
At some point when Link and I were back in each other’s arms amidst the whirlpool of dancers, we’d gravitated toward the rim of the ballroom floor where a few steps led up to an expanse of tables and chairs beyond which stood a doorway leading outside. My partner was looking around the room with intent. I glanced over my shoulder to see whatever he had seen, but I was swept off to the side as soon as my head was turned.
Half of me was filled with relief to be away from prying eyes as I followed him to Hylia knew where. The other half was filled with doubt that our absence would go unnoticed for long. And the second half was prevailing over the first. He didn’t answer any of my continuous demands to know just where he was taking me. All he did was continue along on his happy-go-lucky way. Perhaps even he didn’t know where he was going.
We hadn’t gotten far when we’d reached a small pavilion overlooking the castle gardens. He turned to face me with a worrying glint in his eye. “Wait, what are you doing?” He gripped my shoulders. “Link—”
Before I could get another word out, he backed me up into the banister and began slowly ravishing my mouth. I gave into him, my fingers weaving themselves into his modestly groomed locks out of habit. He drew away sooner than I’d anticipated, and my eyes fluttered open.
“Kissing my wife,” he finally answered, flashing that charming smile of his. My shoulders shook a little in laughter as I pulled him in for another kiss. He crooned happily, taking me by the waist. His hands roamed across the bodice of my gown, feeling every little intricacy embroidered onto its surface. “I must say,” he muttered, “I couldn’t have imagined something that‘d make you look so gorgeous.”
“Well, you really have the tailors to thank for all this,” I blushed, playing with the pleats of my elegant skirt. “I’m quite pleased with their work myself.”
“While it looks magnificent on you, darling,” he began, running a finger under where it scooped up and cupped my breasts, “I am looking forward to seeing you take it off later this evening.”
I pushed him away gently. “Stop it. Someone could hear—ah!” He grabbed my behind through my dress, without warning.
“Sorry,” he lied, snickering. “I just can’t help myself around you.” He gave me a quick kiss to the temple. I glowered at him, praying he’d get the message that this wasn’t funny to me anymore, but he paid no mind as he bent down and started hiking my skirt up my leg. My face burned as hot as the touch of his fingertips trailing up the skin of my thigh. I looked around frantically for anyone we might’ve been in plain sight of.
“Link,” I whined, “for the love of the Goddesses—”
“Hey, does anyone see the newlyweds about?” He and I both froze at Prince Sidon’s jolly and boisterous tones booming all the way from the great hall. “I figure it’s about time to roll out some old Hyrulian traditions!”
The next thing I knew, I was sat on a big throne that had been set up in the dead centre of the ballroom, and my groom was kneeling at my feet with an utterly victorious smirk on his face. Kass and the other musicians had stopped playing. All of the guests—every single one as well as some staff members—had gathered in front of us. I cursed Sidon under my breath, making Link’s grin grow wider. Everyone was cheering and whistling like they were watching the semiannual shield surfing tournament. I laughed halfheartedly, feeling humiliation sinking in.
With no hesitation, Link raised my right leg over his shoulder and ducked his head under my dress. I didn’t have time to react before I felt him nip gently at my inner thigh. I jumped, biting back a yelp. The audience hollered out in excitement. The ten seconds or so that it then took him to take my garter between his teeth and inch it along the length of my leg seemed like a century. When he emerged, he looked up at me with a sultry gaze that made my blood boil.
With the garter still in his mouth, he stood up and tossed it over his shoulder like a dog with a stick. This did me in. I erupted into uncontrollable bouts of laughter, and Link and the rest of the audience followed suit. Regrettably I was too hysterical to notice who had caught it.
The rest of the reception went on without a hitch. Immediately following Link’s grandiose display of shamelessness, I performed the long-awaited throwing of the bouquet. This time I remembered to take note of the catcher; it was none other than Impa’s granddaughter, Paya, whose complexion had taken on a shade similar to that of her Sheikah facial markings. After that, there were one or two more traditions that needed to be taken care of, such as the cutting of the cake. Link and I had to be given a ladder to stand on in order for us to be able to reach the top tier. Even so, the amount of effort needed was befitting of the delectable prize waiting for me at the end. My lovely husband even offered to feed me the fruits and berries off of his slice, and who would I have been to decline his generosity?
A short while later, I was out on the dance floor again. Compared to before, I was feeling a great deal more relaxed as I mingled with the the many, many partygoers.
Then I heard the thunderous crack of an explosion.
I looked out through the great hall’s lofty windows and witnessed the shimmering hues of fireworks painting the night sky. My plans for them had completely slipped my mind. By the time they’d begun, many people had already made their way outside. I scanned the room for Link and, upon spotting him, asked my current dance partner to excuse me and made my way over to him. Then he followed me to the balcony where we’d enjoy the show for as long as it would last, until the clock struck midnight and the celebration was drawn to a close.
The night had already progressed into the small hours of morning when my husband and I had made it back to our shared quarters. Our lavish ensembles were folded neatly away inside a box in our wardrobe, probably never to be worn again. I’d never revelled so much in the sensation of lying down on my bed and feeling all the tension in my body melt away. What a day it had been.
“I love you.” Link’s voice was low and warm as his fingertips combed delicately through the roots of my hair.
“I love you too,” I smiled, idly tracing each of the scars littering his chest one by one. “Be honest. How long did it take you to write those vows?”
He donned a prideful grin, saying, “Made them up on the spot.”
“I said, ‘Be honest,’” I giggled, giving him a light shove.
“I am! It’s the truth!” And yet his ear-to-ear grin did little to back up his claim.
“Really?” I gave him an incredulous look, which he challenged with a raise of his brow. “Well, I, for one, wrote out draft after draft and spent hours of my precious time memorizing and rehearsing them.”
“I figured as much,” he chided into my neck. A chill raced through my blanketed body followed by another bubbly laugh.
I rolled my eyes. “If you are telling the truth and you really did improvise that whole thing, then...I admit, I’m impressed.”
“Am I not brilliant?”
“Oh, yes,” I smiled, craning my neck to kiss his jawline. Then with a slight yawn as I laid my head back down on his shoulder, “Absolutely.”

so, after making some changes, struggling to find character allusions and having to rename one of the team members so i’d have an initial i can fit into a reasonable-ish team name, i have the concept descriptions of this RWBY fan-team down, below the cut, i give you Team HRTS - i am open to any feedback on these:
Team HRTS are a “technically-graduated” Huntress team operating out of Vale; they had rushed back to the school from a mission as the attack began, arriving at the city far too late to do anything but help pick up the pieces.
After a hasty, informal graduation from Acting Headmistress Glynda Goodwitch, they’re taking to their roles as Huntresses in a world now fumbling in the dark, no matter how futile it seems right now.
Alice Heddwyn – Leader, based on Alice in Wonderland. Rabbit Faunus. 21 years old.
Weapon: “Vorpal Blade” – Sword – fitted with grooves that slot different combinations of Dust types in depending on the mode, mode is selected by twisting the handle in combinations only Alice knows. Examples: “Snicker-Snack” mode – Default, no Dust. “Frumious” mode – Fire and Rock Dust. “Slithy” mode – Water and Gravity Dust. “Tulgey” mode – Plant and Wind Dust. “Mimsy” mode – Electricity Dust. Alice utilises a fast series of swings, dealing physical and elemental damage to wear down her opponents defenses.
Semblance: “Wonderland” – by expending Aura, Alice can summon an “imaginary friend” (similar to Weiss’s summons) that acts as an autonomous entity on the battlefield. Only one friend can be summoned at a time, cannot split into multiple entities, and as Alice is not directly in control of the friends, she must be careful who she picks as they may prove to be more a hindrance than a help. Risk factor: if she gets too carried away with her imagination, her Aura drains faster. Optimal usage is in small bursts rather than a continuous battlefield presence.
Personality: Charismatic, friendly and airy (in general, weird girl energy), able to balance the personalities within her team and respond to feedback from her teammates. Has a notable childish streak (she sometimes talks to her imaginary friends, so she seems weird to other people but – understandably – the line where she ends and the imaginary friends her Semblance manifests, and how sapient they are on their own, is blurry), and can be quite stubborn, especially towards authority figures when she believes she knows better. Quite talkative and blunt.
Appearance: Long, white rabbit ears. Short, platinum blonde hair – “punky” hairstyle? Blue eyes. Freckles and a tan due to outdoorsy nature. Shortest member of her team at 5’4’’. Outfit: Azure blue hairband. Blue combat skort (with pockets). White belt – pocket-watch hanging from it (gift/memento from a parent referencing the White Rabbit?) and Pumpkin Pete keychain. Wears black knee and wrist support braces and blue fingerless gloves. Black combat boots with blue lining/laces and cute white bows on the back. White tank top, black high collar crop puffer jacket (blue interior lining, stripes down the arms and accents), sleeves pushed up to her elbows.
Aura Colour: White
Emblem: Keyhole shape - splashed on the back of her jacket in white.
Background: Alice is the daughter of a Faunus and a human – her human parent is from the wealthier side of Vale (befitting the crown imagery and also alluding to original Alice being kind of upper class), she grew up in a large home in Vale, filled with extended family (some of whom she’s not entirely sure she’s actually related to), full of eccentricity and play; encouraging her wild imagination. She wanted to be a Huntress due to her imaginative spirit and romantic ideals about adventures and heroism. Initially she was quite a socially awkward, isolated loner outside of her home as she was often singled out as the weird kid (if she wasn’t being targeted for being a Faunus), while she studied at Pharos Academy, so initially it took a while for her to open up and rely on her team, at which point her more extroverted tendencies became apparent.
Rowena Argentum – based on Treasure Island. Human. 21 years old.
Weapon: “Flint and Bones” - Twin pistols that can combine and extend into an anti-material rifle (“The Captain”) – this mode has a lot of recoil, so Rowena’s prosthetic leg can double as a mount for it for long range shots.
Semblance: None – her Semblance was stolen not long after it unlocked when she was young, as collateral following a hit job by the assassin Marcus Black.
Personality: Cheerful and perhaps overly friendly, Rowena maintains a humble and optimistic outlook, sharing Alice’s eagerness for adventure. Unlike Alice, however, Rowena masks a hard edge, brought on by a life living unprotected by the Kingdoms; she’s an impressive liar, excellent at gathering information and pickpocketing. She has a vengeful streak and her impulsiveness often gets her into trouble, though it has tempered over the years.
Appearance: Long, loose green hair and coal-black irises. 5’8’’. She has a few scars on her arms and face from a rough life outside the Kingdoms, one notable one being a scar extending from the left edge of her mouth in a jagged “smile”. Rowena lost her left leg in the same incident she lost her Semblance; it has since been replaced with a simple prosthesis that she has modified to double as a mount for The Captain. She has a pirate aesthetic, wearing a loose blouse under a long double-breasted coat-jacket. Under her jacket she wears suspenders, which have the holsters for Flint and Bones attached. She wears several belts around her waist, loose-fitting trousers tucked into knee-high buckle boots. Colour scheme primarily green and silver.
Aura Colour: Silver
Emblem: A stylised Hawk from a top-down view, with its wings spread; worn on her belt buckle and tattooed on her right wrist.
Background: Rowena grew up outside the protection of the Kingdoms, hailing from a small seaside town. She saw numerous bandits and pirates coming through town on a daily basis, and would often be regaled with stories of swashbuckling adventure by the friendlier visitors. Until the day came that a notorious pirate made port in the town, and the place was set ablaze after his subsequent assassination by Marcus Black. Rowena’s Semblance was unlocked in the panic, only to be immediately stolen by Marcus on his way through, endangering the child’s life as her home burned around her, and the Grimm set in. She lost her leg as a result. Determined to never let this happen anywhere else, she dedicated her life to becoming a Huntress, traveling all over (including some time spent in Kuchinashi) and fighting to survive, learning whatever skills she had to until she was old enough to take the exam at Beacon Academy – and keeping an ear to the ground in case a certain assassin ever showed his face again.
Titania Ianthe – based on the Fairy Queen. Human. 21 years old.
Weapon: “Graviton Reign” – Glaive weapon, reach for crowd control. Contains a mechanism which uses Gravity Dust inside the blade, furthering crowd control ability, either with repulsing strikes or anchoring opponents as they are swept away.
Semblance: “Attraction” – Titania emits a low-level psychic field that makes everyone and everything pay attention to her. Effect is passive and subtle most of the time, but she can use her Aura to concentrate the effect as a pulse in battle (extending the radius of her Area of Effect to 15 meters); drawing aggro from people and Grimm alike.
Personality: Aloof, confident and proud, Titania didn’t come to Beacon to make friends, but there she found a family. Titania has a lot of walls up, and is often frustrated that her teammates seem determined to clamber over every single one. Despite her exasperation though, she loves her team and would do anything for them, even if it means administering some tough love once in a while. She has difficulty in social situations, and has a tendency to try and shoulder too much responsibility at once. She is also sometimes insecure, due to the nature of her Semblance, whether anyone truly likes her.
Appearance: Wavy, shoulder length dark brown hair, pinned back so it won’t get in her eyes. Dark purple eyes. She has light brown skin, a toned, athletic physique and is noted as the most beautiful of her team. Tallest member of the team at 6’2’’. Outfit: Wears a purple and black sleeveless, hooded top (hood is usually kept up). Black, segmented armoured bracers with silver accents over black gloves. A loose, knee-length faded purple skirt over biker shorts. Heeled black boots with purple laces and zippers.
Aura Colour: Purple
Emblem: A tiara with a large central peak – shaped with interwoven lines and swirls
Background: Titania hails from Vacuo, originally from a small community near the edge of the Kingdom. She grew up hearing old stories about famous Huntsmen and Huntresses, especially enamoured with legendary Huntresses like Opal or the Grimm Reaper. Eager to see the world beyond the sands, and assured in herself that she would one day be talked about in stories too, she trained to fight, traveling to Vale where she could begin her legend. She quickly found recognition and popularity at Beacon; she just wishes people would stop asking her out on dates.
Sable Dunscaith – based on Scáthach. Human. 21 years old.
Weapon: “Nightfall Breach” – a spear with multiple configurations. Its compact form can fire crossbow bolts (charged with explosive Dust) out of the spear tip. The default form functions as a regular spear weapon and can be thrown as a javelin – the spearhead has a hidden function, releasing explosive barbs for additional damage after making contact. The pole-vault form is exactly what it says on the tin, extending out and allowing Sable to pole-vault over or across obstacles, retracting rapidly to allow for aerial manoeuvres whilst she’s in the air. She can also throw Nightfall Breach as a javelin, and relies on martial arts training until she can retrieve it.
Semblance: “Phantom” – able to utilise any shadow within a 40-foot radius as a portal as long as she is stood within the shadow (and it isn’t her own) – she can then appear from any shadow of her choosing (the further away, the higher the cost on her Aura). She can also utilise portals at a distance by throwing objects, such as Nightfall Breach, giving her an advantage in combat by making her hard to predict. Her Semblance’s effectiveness is drastically increased at night, but incredibly diminished in wide open areas, especially during the day when there’s little to cast shadows.
Personality: In contrast to her gloomy appearance, Sable is as much of an excitable nerd as her leader, as well as the de facto team mom. Sable is often on the side-lines in conversations, which suits her just fine, but she’s always watching out for everyone and there to lend a supportive hand when it’s needed. In spite of her quiet appearance, she’s also a bit of a prankster and can be very competitive, especially when her twin is involved. Her calm, warm demeanour however masks a fiery and brutal warrior with a number of tricks up her sleeve that let her control the flow of battle while maintaining a sharp degree of unpredictability.
Appearance: Red hair kept in a short ponytail. Vivid crimson eyes. Pale complexion. In general, she has a very Gothic aesthetic. 5’11’’. Outfit: Sable dresses in mainly black with some silver accents. She wears a long, fishtail coat with a fur-lined collar, long trousers and fur-lined heeled boots.
Aura Colour: Black
Emblem: A Castle – embroidered in silver on the back of her coat.
Background: Sable grew up on the island of Patch off the coast of Vale, and like many, attended Signal Academy in hopes of one day being accepted into Beacon – being a Huntress like her mother and grandmother was the dream. Sable’s twin, Astrid, determined to outshine her, followed her on this path, becoming a rival that pushes Sable to become ever stronger. When initiation put them each on different teams, this rivalry grew even fiercer; now in their fourth year and on the cusp of becoming fully licensed Huntresses, tensions between the twins are edging towards a fever pitch.

Take Me Home Now: Chapter Seven
Chapter Seven: Dark and Dusty
Set after the events of ME3.
A rewrite. Ao3.
FemShepxKaidan
"Damnit, did Reynolds forget he took my watch again?" Jane heaved her stiff body away from the person desperately shaking her awake. Gods, she felt like hell. Take a hangover and add being run over by three buses filled with elcor.
"Jane, I wouldn't-," Roy's usually calm voice laced with fear, pleading with the stubborn woman to get up, "there's an emergency. I need you."
The building reverberated, dust wafting into the air in the aftermath of the sudden tremor. The woman sprung from her cot, scrambling through the hallways at breakneck speed. Her footing proved not to be so cooperative, but she held her pace. The rumble had come from the western parking lot, and the rest was slowly forming into a clearer picture, the hushed building, and the distant discharge of guns faint but persistent. Footsteps kept pace behind her, but his words faded into the pounding of her head and the blur of her singular purpose. Arriving in the parking lot out of breath finally drew the situation in a complete picture: they were under siege.
Jane slid into the concrete barrier where Silva rested the barrel of her sniper rifle, her silver eyes flicking over the human a minute later, "you look like shit."
"I've had worse days," she quipped, "what's going on?"
The Turian pulled in a long breath, "I don't know exactly, we got a report of armed assailants. I'm only here to stop them from getting in- Korvac wants you upstairs," the tilt of her head motioned both of them up the ramp.
"Jane, wait!' Roy called as they set up the ramp. The blue-eyed woman giving him a steely gaze, "your weapon?"
"Thank you," she mumbled, forgetting to grab a weapon was not her usual move.
"If you're too hurt-"
"I've had worse," Jane hissed coldly.
The LT gave up, but she felt his gaze on her back. He had more to say. Thankfully, it wasn't coming. The short but brisk trek to the top level of the parking structure drew out in silence. Both comfortable with focusing on the task at hand, the Turian leader waved them over. Directing Jane to look down the scope of the Sniper rifle he handed over to her. The alien was silent, gaze pinned in a westward direction.
She looked down the scope, finding the problem in short order. The familiar krogan, but now flanked in a small force of vorcha. The dull click of the safety-on weapon a very disappointing turn.
"I take it that is only the forward assault?"
"Yes," the Turian hummed, "we're getting reports of at least three other groups. One in each direction."
"Looks like old members of the Blood Pack."
Korvac nodded.
"Where are the varren?"
The structure shook again, "rigged to explode."
Jane handed the weapon to her silent superior, "we need to get all the civilians out, now."
"How? The bastard knows all the routes in and out."
A stand was the obvious answer. They knew they couldn't lose the building; several months' worth of food, clean water, and medical supplies couldn't be moved in time. The gardens and restored generators meant a sustainable future until ships could start rolling off the planet and out of the system. A restart meant a very uncertain future.
They all knew this time was coming. It was just too soon. All preparations, perhaps foolishly, were spent on improving their ease of life. Or more considerately, on the influx of refugees that sought out aid or shelter.
"Alright, Princesses, we can start fighting back now that the Krogan are here," Wrex taunted with misplaced enthusiasm, somethings never changed.
"Wrex," Korvac greeted with unexpected civility, giving a brief overview of the entire situation.
"I volunteer to head off Greenie," the two alien leaders looked at her curiously, "he has the biggest beef with me. If I keep him distracted, or better yet kill him, he can't use whatever knowledge he has of the building. The rest of you can focus on the fodder."
"That's supposing he hasn't given away all our secrets, and it's more than just vorcha; it's every opportunist he could round up," Korvac cautioned.
"Well, we lack time to make a better plan," but he made a good point, but at this time fucked was fucked.
"We can only hope those opportunists are too greedy to share information," Wrex chimed in, "plus this one knows how to make his blood boil."
"Has anyone started to round up the civilians?" Jane asked in Roy's direction.
"I-," the human stuttered.
"Reynolds, this is Recruit- yes." Jane radioed the first soldier she thought could handle the responsibility of gathering the noncombatants. Luckily he was already on the task, but Jane made sure to drill all relevant issues to assure success. Her short conversation and the two alien leaders discussing joint strategy coincided.
"Can you handle the western edge?" the Turian questioned after a long moment, "that could buy us some time. The other groups are still a bit further out."
"You aren't going alone," Roy broke from his stupor, "I'll join you."
"LT-"
"He's right, you need help. Take Silva and the squad at the ramp exit. We need you to slow them."
"How come she gets all the fun," the krogan mused, "fight hard."
"Aim for the head," Jane returned gently.
She picked at the shoddy chest piece that was several inches too big. At a time like this, she shouldn't be picky about such a thing, it was lucky to have a functioning piece of armour, but when one got used to custom and tailored armour, it was hard to go back. But how it already dug into her uncomfortably, it might be better not to have the thing at all. But it was the draw of having a working shield that made the risk worth it.
The most concerning issue was Roy's silence.
"LT," she cooed, "everything alright?"
He toyed with his assault rifle, cheeks puffing out, "this is serious, isn't it?"
Right, Roy hadn't experienced much in terms of combat; before the Reaper War he had seen none in his military days. This up-close, high-risk mission with a small squad was out of his foray, especially with the consequences of failing. Manning the perimeter and firing shots at assailants behind windows was a different ballgame from the full-fire combat.
"It's not too late to join the others," Jane was already miffed that a squad followed behind her; the hair-brained suicide mission felt like a better option. To see Silva and Roy tied up in it was a lead weight in her heart.
The man huffed again, and she reflexively looked down, braced for his angry retort. Instead, his arms pulled her in, wrapping around her tightly, a hand cradling the back of her head, "not now. We both know how important this is."
"No need to get all emotional, LT," she teased gently, working herself from his grip slowly the attention it brought both of them stopping the moment from lasting, "keep your head down and stay undercover. Adrenaline takes over the rest."
"I'm glad you know what you are doing," but he managed to smile, "I'll stop moping."
Jane tenderly nudged him, "I've seen lifelong soldiers piss themselves before their first battles, I think you're doing fine."
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Varren were easy.
Not in the familiar way of sending the lot of them flying with a biotic blast of energy that tore through the pack in a single flick of her arm easy- but one headshot seemed to do the trick. Silva caught a few from behind her shoulder, sticking to her vantage point further downwind. Roy's assault rifle hit the explosive packs, wiping out several in one burst.
It was the vorcha crawling over the rubble and concrete barriers that had her worried. They took far more time and attention to deal with. Their innate regeneration meant missed shots becoming more costly, and the extra time needed to line up an accurate headshot took attention away from the swarming varren. And wherever that damned Krogan went.
The first turian went down, a missed varren sending shale and dust rocketing across the entrenched ramp.
Vorcha swarmed through the haze, the real heat of battle ensuing in the panic. Some resorted to hand-to-hand combat, while others fired into the fog. Screams echoed in the concrete chamber, and they were getting overrun quickly. Several more detonations followed, rocking the building and dust from where it rested.
"Hold fire!" Jane screamed.
Attempting something she had only ever seen but not done.
A pulsing blue shield of biotic energy enveloped the entrance to the parking structure. It wavered, shrinking a meter before it swelled back into its original size. Jane stood in the middle, the swirling energy coating her body.
The defenders didn't need to hear Shepard's strained command to return fire. Varren and Vorcha alike collided against the barrier, if they were not gunned down. The biotic force a shield against further explosions and, more importantly, the rubble from the blasts.
"Jane, Greenie just ahead," Silva radioed- the rest of her statement ignored in the blur of her focus shift and the human's collapsing against the concrete barrier.
Roy slid against his recruit once he needed to reload, "we could have used that firepower long ago, Recruit!"
"Heh," half of Jane smirked, blood streaking from her nostrils. Peering over the concrete sloppily to get a look at the green crested Krogan that approached. Her smile widened as Roy looked at her with growing horror.
Roy grabbed her face, his thumb tracing down the unreactive side of her cheek. The odd scars glimmered beneath the touch, her eyelid reacted slowly to his thumb hovering over it. His worry intensified as the woman snapped forward, her head colliding with his chest plate. Unconscious for only the moment her forehead met armour.
"We're the only ones left," the voice over the radio stated in a panic, a shot careening over their position.
"Don't do this," he murmured, grabbing the stubborn female's chin. Purple washed over her skin despite the tear leaving his eye.
After all his fuss, he was powerless against the otherwise harmless force of energy that sent him toppling into another barricade; Jane looked down at him from a shakey height, "I won't be the last again."
In a splitting snap, Jane was gone, transforming into a hurtling meteor of blue energy racing at the oncoming krogan. The mass of energy collided full force with the krogan, bashing him into the wall a resounding crack of bone and sinew followed but still, the alien managed to shove the woman to the ground. Jane rolled to avoid the shotgun blast, using the momentum to charge again. This time with only the force of anger and spite.
The shimmering purple and blue gathered into her palms, exploding nanoseconds later in a pulse of bright light that filled the structure. Rocking it aside more than any of the rigged varren could manage. Once the light settled, the recruit's form lay lifeless on the ground. The Krogan's teetering foot lifted, on course for her exposed skull slamming with the last of his might.
So I had an idea for a DeanCas Pokemon AU that I never worked on because it was just too grand of a project, but after commissioning @gabester-sketch to draw this picture of Dean and a Sylveon (here) I’m thinking, even if I never get around to writing it, I still think it was great and am gonna share it.
So, basically, it would have been an AU set in the Kalos region (my favorite region), with Dean and Sam having grown up in Vaniville Town. When they were young, the town was beset by criminals and set aflame, the boys losing their mother in the fire. While Dean got Sam to safety in their neighbor Bobby’s arms, he then got seperated and ended up losing consciousness under a tree. He was mostly unharmed save for twin scars on his palms in the shape of ‘x’s (which he will hide with gloves), but because of the fire he ended up being traumatized of both fire and Pokemon. Fast forward many years, they have been raised by Bobby because, after the fire, John decided to recommit to being a Pokemon trainer and find the villains who set the fire. Sam wants to set out on his own journey, but has been held back by Dean’s worry longer than he should have - meaning all of his friends got to leave town when they were ten while Sam’s been there an extra 6+ years. Until one day, Sam leaves, telling Dean that he is going to start his journey and he hopes he forgives him.
Dean, naturally, chases after Sam - thinking he can catch him before he gets far.
Yet Dean, being Dean, gets lost quite easily in the surrounding grass and forest and his anxieties start rising. He gets cornered by some wild Pokemon and doesn’t know what to do, when suddenly an Espurr appears and battles away the Pokemon. A trainer arrives, too, with mussed dark hair and blue eyes hidden behind wide-rimmed frames, and he’s dressed dishevedly. He introduces himself as Cas and asks why Dean didn’t send out his own Pokemon. Dean says that he doesn’t have any. This begins a conversation that Dean quickly walks away from, stubborn, claiming that he doesn’t need any Pokemon.
He’s lost again, and mad that he didn’t ask Cas for directions. He’s sitting by a lake when he feels something brush up against his side, and it’s a little Eevee. Dean tries to make her go away, but she won’t, instead nestling into his lap. At first he’s so panicked, but the more Eevee cuddles and uses Baby-Doll Eyes at him, and as he pets her, Dean relaxes. Until some Team Flame members burst in, saying that they’re here for the Eevee. Dean doesn’t respond well and say that it’s not their Eevee. They battle, with Dean holding his own, but when it looks like they’re gonna be overpowered, Dean runs away with the Eevee and stumbles on Cas again, and together they send Team Flame running. Dean thanks Cas, while Cas observes that he’s seemed to have gotten himself a Pokemon. Gives Dean a Pokeball to catch the Eevee with. Together, they make it to the next town where Dean learns Sam’s already left for Lumiose. “Good thing you have a Pokemon,” Cas comments, “you’re gonna need her if you want to go to Lumiose.” Now Dean has been forced on his own Pokemon journey.
Along the way Dean will find his party growing, and he’ll be coming out of his shell with the more people he met. The Pokemon professor I had in mind was Chuck when I created this but I have changed my mind and it’s Missouri, with Charlie and Kevin as her assistants. Lumiouse City gym leader was Ash, little sister Jo and mom Ellen would also be introduced. The third gym leader would be Claire, who we also find out is Cas’s niece after Dean meets with Cas’s twin brother Jimmy - thinking he’s Cas. And the sixth gym leader was originally gonna be Jess, but because I am an Eileen-stan, Eileen would be the Fairy gym leader who also tells Dean she was very interested in his brother. And Dean’s party would grow to include a Togepi that he evolves into a Togekiss, a Feebas he helps grow into a Milotic, his Eevee evolves into a Sylveon, a Buneary bruiser that will evolve into a Lopunny, a Litleo that helps him overcome his fear of fire type Pokemon (saving her from a fire that Team Flare started in former Team Flare now Elite Four member Meg’s house) that will evolve into a Pyroar, and a Cubone who he keeps out of its Pokeball most the time (like Sylveon) that he picked up because we all know why.
And, during his journey, Dean becomes a great trainer in his own right, though he doesn’t battle for badges. He becomes great friends with his Pokemon. Pokemon have always naturally been drawn to him, which he’s now starting to see isn’t such a bad thing. He’s also meeting new friends, like Cas who he keeps running into and, you guessed it, develops a crush on him.
Finally Dean makes his way back to Lumiouse City for the Pokemon Tournament, and while out and about in the city finally runs into Sam. Sam is shocked to see Dean, especially Dean with Pokemon, while Dean just starts berating Sam for sneaking off like that. They mend fences pretty easily, Dean saying that if it weren’t for Sam leaving Dean might’ve been too afraid to leave home to go on his own journey. Sam would love to stay and chat, but he needs to register for the tournament. Dean lets him off, saying they should meet up for lunch (”a picnic”). Sam agrees. After running into Sam, Dean then runs into Cas, and Dean fills him in on the Sam stuff. He then invites Cas to their picnic. Cas agrees, but hasn’t shown up despite Dean and Sam and their Pokemon all already being there for half an hour. Cas does arrive, apologizing, being held up, and Dean is ready to tease him until he turns and sees Cas dressed much differently than before.
Cas is in a suit, his hair pushed back, no glasses, and wears a trench coat. Sam is agape, asking Dean why the Kalos Champion knows who he is.
That’s right! Cas is the Champion of Kalos! We finally meet his party, which includes a fully-evolved Meowstic.
It’s an enjoyable picnic and they’re all walking around the city when they see a Pokemon battle going on, check it out and - it’s John Winchester!
More reunions! John is proud of his sons for setting off on their journey, and asks to see their Pokemon. He approves of Sam’s but finds that Dean’s aren’t fit for battle. Dean is rubbed the wrong way by that but stays silent, but Sam goads them into a fight. Dean’s Sylveon vs. John’s Tyranitar. It’s a strong match-up, with both Pokemon getting good hits in. Sylveon falls, however. John, though, says that Dean trained her well and things are fixed there.
It’s time for the tournament and everyone is there. Including Chuck, the CEO of this corporation. Sam’s progressing well throughout the tournament, until he finally faces Nick, a mysterious competitor who’s been mowing down his challengers ruthlessly. Before the battle Dean, in a trance, rises from his seat. Sylveon worringly chases after him. Just as the battle is about to start, the stadium goes dark, and Team Flare make their reveal. They begin attacking, with those who are able to combatting this all. Sam is busy dealing with Nick, Cas tied up battling grunts but also worried about Dean. He goes to find him but only sees John, who explains Dean had to use the bathroom.
In actuallity, Dean is being kidnapped by Team Flare and their leader, Chuck. Cas and John make it to see Dean being squirreled away, Sylveon left behind.
Dean wakes up in the Team Flare headquarters, where it’s revealed Chuck wants to absorb the powers of life and death through their avatars - Xerneas and Yveltal. He’s already succeeded with Yveltal, but failed years ago during the Vaniville Assault. That’s right! Chuck caused the fire that killed Dean’s mom and scarred him. This is where we learn that Dean, while lost in the flames of the town and forest, stumbled upon Xerneas’s tree form. Dean died due to smoke inhalation, but was given new life through Xerneas’s interference. Because of this, his Pokemon’s fairy attacks were much stronger than normal, and it aided his charm. Bascially, Xerneas passed its energy into Dean, making him Xerneas. And Chuck wants to absorb it even if it kills Dean.
Cas, Sam, and John all decide to launch a rescue mission. They sneak into the underground compound and fight to free Dean. Meanwhile, Chuck moves to awaken Xerneas. He succeeds in doing this, Dean’s hair turning pink because of it. He doesn’t absorb Xerneas’s power, however, as the others cut in. Chuck disappears, deciding he’ll just go through with his plan without Xerneas then.
The group converge, freeing Dean. Except it isn’t Dean, it’s Xerneas. “I’ve always been Xerneas.” This doesn’t sit right with any of them, but before they can comment Xerneas teleports away, sensing Chuck. The others leave the compound, trying to get a sense of what’s going on.
Chuck’s real goal was to destroy the world by killing Zygarde, then start over using Xerneas’s power. Chuck has grown into a horrible amalgamation of man and Pokemon. Dean does the same to stop him, and they battle while the others go to wake Zygarde from his slumber. They succeed, and Zygarde comes and rips Yveltal free from Chuck, leaving him a regular man again.
Xerneas goes back to normal, Dean-sized again, and says that once he leaves Dean, Dean will surely die. Everyone starts to cry, including Dean’s Pokemon who all jump out of their balls to argue with the deer entity. Xerneas, troubled, searches their feelings, and understands. He converses with Zygarde and when Zygarde frees Xerneas, Dean is still able to wake up and is himself again (there was a way!) His hair is still pink, though. Everyone celebrates!
Epilogue - Sam wins the tournament and faces off against Cas, defeating him and becoming the new Kalos champion. Cas is glad, as he’s ready to retire and explore more that life has to offer. Dean asks what that might be, and Cas kisses him.
Back when I thought of this, I think around s9/s10, it was way out of my skill level. And now, I dont have the time lol. It seems like it’d be a 20+ chapter piece. But what a fic it would be...
#supernatural#spn#pokemon au#dean winchester#sam winchester#castiel#destiel#deancas#john winchester#destiel fanfic idea#this is probably as far as I'll be able to go with it#especially since most of my notes were lost in my dead computer lol
Journal 6
Today was another long day. Another very long day. I don’t even know how to begin to express how much happened today.
We broke fate.
We did what we came to the Grey Garrison to do and according to a higher being we weren’t actually meant to have done that but we did anyways and it changed everything. It changed an entire timeline. We did that. I’m still processing that.
Let me start from the top.
We made for Old Kenabres first thing in the morning. We were given a number of supplies from Arashniaval for our strike force, while Horgus was using his own funds to supply the main troops. The Silver Legion and the units Commander Tirabade had been able to muster rode ahead and drew away the brunt of the demonic forces, leaving the Grey Garrison mostly unguarded. The Commander did not join the forces drawing distraction, however. She would be fighting alongside us to reclaim the shard of the Wardstone from Deskari’s hands. And she was not the only one. This morning the envoy the Commander sent down to speak with the First Descendants returned as well. And they came alongside forces from below ground lead by Lann, ready to join the fight against the demon scourge. Lann and a number of his rangers joined our strike team. Each of us paired up with a ranger, with the group deciding I should team up with Lann since I was the captain of this mission. I had no arguments there. Lann proved to be a very capable marksman. Even without cold iron arrows he managed to do some damage to some of the demons we faced, which is more than I could say for most people.
If we ever have a moment when we aren’t fighting for our lives for once, I wouldn’t mind having a chance to chat with him outside of life-threatening situations. Lann seems like a good guy. But apparently my life is going to be getting really busy really soon, so that’s probably not in the cards.
As we approached the grey garrison, we saw two sentries. We identified the twisted reanimated mockeries as vermleks, parasitic demons who puppeteer corpses of the dead. The victims in question were High Commander Hulrun, and the head of Nyserian Manor ironically enough. It would seem Lord Nyserian met with a terrible fate when he presented Commander Tirabade’s sword to the demons, in a bid to try to get safe passage and a position of power. We found proof later that this was their punishment for him not giving it to them sooner. Serves a coward and a traitor right, for the innocent blood on his hands.
My feelings about Hulrun are more complicated. He was a powerful crusader. He should have been able to stand up against the demons as a symbol of strength against the tide of evil. Instead he was felled and turned into a mockery. So I found what they did despicable and I wanted to put him to rest. But I also never found him to be the height of what we could stand for. He was no Irabeth Tirabade. At one time he was a paranoid man who brought out the worst in our people for many years. He led the witch hunts, which may have been a little before my time, but the effects of which still echo down. I…deeply fear what would happen if anyone found out about the mark I keep under wraps.
Whether he truly become better or simply had others who advised him to tone it down, I will likely never know now. And quite frankly it doesn’t matter, as he is dead and we have more pressing matters than the past to contend with.
Speaking of that accursed mark, it was bleeding a stream of blood worse than ever before, and burning like someone had taken a hot iron to it. I couldn’t help but flinch, and the others couldn’t help but notice the bandages that were already stained red before we had even entered battle. I…promised to explain later. And I suppose I will have to, if it’s going to cause so much blood that I cannot hide it around so many demons. I will have to find a new method. Perhaps a bracer of some kind…
Hiskaria asked ‘you too’ when I started rubbing at my arm initially, and showed me a mark on her back. It was not anything near the same as the festering mark on my wrist. She had some sort of large glowing spiral birthmark on her back. Although there was one thing in common I found: both appeared the day our families died. Hers was reacting here as well, which was apparently abnormal. Hers had something to do with the Riftwardens—which now that I think about it she’d kept buddying up to Arashniaval frequently, going to him to comfort him when he thought the Riftwardens died despite just meeting him, and he’d reacted to her in surprise when we’d first met her.
For now, however, we needed to focus on the mission as hand. There were two demon sentries. If we took them out fast, we might not alert the entire temple of our presence right away. Luna did her usual thing, going invisible and sneaking up on one, getting a good swing in on it, although not enough to destroy its host. Commander Tirabade charged in behind her, stabbing it, and Melody joined her.
Hiskaria and I focused on the other. Radiance was more insistent than ever that these demons be cleansed—the bodies of the faithful needed to be freed and put to rest properly.
These creatures took a beating and still remained standing, sending wave after wave of negative energy through us with mass inflict wounds. The Commander cut down the one who was possessing Hulrun—trying to be respectful of the dead, although once Luna got started insulting him for the witch hunts it was hard for any of us to not agree with her points that the man was kind of an ass. Still, the demon was dead and I’d at least follow Radiance’s request to lay his body to rest later, even he deserved that much.
The other demon devoured its host, but was then skewered through on Melody’s glaive, leaving the courtyard outside the temple silent.
Then Melody looked up. She told us in a hushed voice that she saw her goddess’ songbird. But also a twisted being who looked like a humanoid woman with a clawed locust’s arm. An oracle of Deskari. And probably a powerful one at that if her body was twisted in such a manner.
This would be no easy task. But we needed to get to the wardstone and destroy it, to keep it from being used as a weapon and turning our own symbol of protection against our unsuspecting men and women on the front lines. Whether it would be easy or not didn’t matter.
Luna slipped ahead of us, practically vanishing as she pulled her hood over her head and she seemed to become one with the shadows with her mastery of stealth. I focused on Iomedae’s blessings, using her mastery of the warrior’s ways to try to keep up with my swift footed companion.
A fight had already broken out by the time I arrived. Luna had snuck up behind a tiefling cultist and liberated his head from his shoulders. The rest had tried to swarm her, but she was not an easy woman to harm in such a way. Lann shot an arrow into the fray, catching the attention of one of the tieflings and drawing him out of the room to me, which I swiftly cut down. The rest were taken care of by Hiskaria’s arrows and Luna and Melody’s blades.
Now that we were inside of the temple, Radiance’s energy was feeling more insistent than usual. They told me that this was once a temple to Iomedae, and it should be cleansed and returned to its former glory. I got the sense that they meant immediately, not after we got rid of the demons. At first as I cleared the demons I argued with Radiance, telling the sword that I needed them to be patient—if we tried to cleanse the temple before we got rid of all the demons, the demons would just desecrate it again.
What made me change my mind was the room with the arms.
I am not going to describe the room with the arms. Just know that…the demons and their cultists made some very visceral and disgusting idols in mockery of our holy places.
I was ambushed by several cultists of Deskari in that room. Which was a veeeeeery good way to get some very recently acquired bad feelings out of my system. With some help from the others, we cleared out the three cultists who thought they would be adding me to their sick idol. Sick bastards.
Then Melody opened a door. And got a bomb right in the face.
Because alchemists suck like that.
Luna went in with her axe, but the man had a spell on that made hitting him difficult, he shifted around the attacks, our visuals on him were blurred and difficult to see correctly. Hiskaria got a bright idea, and cast magic missile on him.
I liked that idea, and produced a wand of magic missile we’d been given by Arashniaval, and did the same. Between the two of us and Luna, we beat away at the alchemist. He used a smoke bomb to try to hide from the missiles. Hiskaria got in closer, drew fire from him, and was able to give me enough of an idea of where he was that I could get up in his face and cast it once more. Which was all we needed.
From there we only had one way to go. Which was behind a locked door Luna was having difficulty opening. We decided to work together to smash through it. With Luna taking point, we threw everything we had into it, and finally managed to burst the door.
Straight into a room with a tiefling and three dretches.
It wasn’t actually that difficult. Luna ran past the dretches and took on the tiefling. Commander Tirabade and Melody took on the dretch nearest the door, which I used the Commander’s shield for cover to slip in and attack the one next to her, Radiance giving me a particularly spectacular moment killing the dretch in a single swing. The final dretch tried to flee, but Luna took a swing at it as it did, then ran after it and ended it before it could try to warn anyone on the second floor.
We were a little bruised, but not so much that we felt like we needed to sound the retreat yet.
Radiance was even more insistent, and I was feeling a bit twitchy after the aforementioned room as well. I requested some time to clear out the bottom floor before we continued on. The others agreed, as it would give them some time to check for anything of value on the bodies they may have missed.
So, I got to work. First clearing out the…aforementioned room. Doing burial rites for the desecrated bodies and for Hulrun while I was at it. Then I cleaned the prayer room. Which had an interesting engraving in celestial, although I cannot read the language. I recalled that Gabrielle could as an aasimar, although I didn’t want to make assumptions given how different Luna is—so I asked if anyone in our group could speak the language. As fortune would have it, Luna did speak celestial, and was willing to help, despite needing to kneel before the alter to see the engraving properly. She would not tell me what it said, instead, she went over to a glowing outline of a doorway we’d noticed in the other room, and spoke the words, “Let us inherit thine arms, Iomedae.” The doorway swung open. Inside was an amazing armory. Cold iron weapons of all kinds, an enchanted longsword, sturdy shields, and a gorgeous breastplate with Iomedae’s holy symbol emblazoned across it. I feel speed is what we needed more than heavy armor at the moment, or I would have gladly donned it.
I also may have hesitated because I think it looked like that sort of think Auriel would have liked. I feel like I remember him mentioning he intended to get something similar to this at some point. Or maybe that’s just me projecting. I don’t know.
Anyways.
After that was done we cleaned up the museum, in which we found an adamantine morningstar of all things. Would have been useful for that door earlier. We gave it to Luna. Adamantine with her strength will be useful I’m certain.
With everything cleaned up and Radiance a bit quieter, we decided to head up to the second floor.
The second floor was almost blood bath. I…kind of don’t remember a lot of the fight that happened here. It was a blur, and I went down a few times. A lot of times. They really had it out for me. For obvious reasons, I was the only Iomedaen in the room. And possibly because of the accursed mark on my arm, who knows? What I do know is, we got upstairs. Melody got besieged on all sides, and the moment one of the tiefling cultists died, we heard the voice of the oracle. And she summoned a swarm of locusts from the tiefling’s body, which attacked Melody on his death, badly injurying her with negative energy. I ended up running in and putting myself in between her and some of the other enemies with the intention of drawing some attention away from her. Which worked. Unfortunately it worked a little too well. I got swarmed by tieflings and Deskari cultists, and when Melody or Heskaria killed one the oracle would cause the locust swarms to pull the life from me. I went in and out of consciousness more than a few times here. I was lucky the Commander was here. She and Hiskaria kept me alive. Between Commander Tirabade’s lay on hand’s and Hiskaria’s wand of cure moderate wounds she’d picked up somewhere along the way. I definitely owed her one. I guess as her ‘acting captain’ I’m putting in a few good words for her for sure at this point.
When the swarm of enemies died down, we began looking around a bit more. We found a room with a bowl of water and—viscera—with zombies milling about. We took care of them with literally no issue. Radiance once again began insisting on immediately consecrating the room, and I once again told them that we needed to wait until we knew there was nothing nastier on this floor after what we’d just dealt with, if the oracle could reach out through her followers up here. Radiance didn’t like that answer, but conceded that it was my choice either way. Good. Maybe Luna was onto something with putting my foot down with them.
Melody was standing near a door looking a bit spooked, and as I approached she quietly told me something was on the other side talking in her mind. She described it, and I reasoned out that it was a Schir demon due to the sound of gnawing on metal she heard. We decided to let Luna go in first, as it was probably prepared but to my knowledge they couldn’t see those who were invisible. So she downed another potion and slipped inside, getting a good stab at him before he could react. Unfortunately, he proved a bit more damaging than expected, and we heard Luna calling for someone to help her out. I was planning to join her, since demon slaying is kind of my specialty. But then something else burst from the door behind me. A strange chimera creature. Not a demon, but an evil intelligent beast working with them. A peryton. The creature bared its fanged in something between a smile and a snarl as it greeted me, before lashing out, knocking me against the wall and dashing any hope of me going to Luna’s aid.
Fortunately, both Melody and Commander Tirabade were able to help Luna, while Hiskaria put some arrows into the creature attacking me. The Commander apparently killed the demon, then Luna charged out of the room and with a single swing of her axe beheaded the peryton.
The rest of the floor was so easily cleared out I legitimately don’t even remember what the creatures in the last room were. Some kind of insect or spider that caused darkness, but Luna was able to cast light due to her aasimar bloodline and dispel it. I blocked the doorway to protect Melody and let Hiskaria and Melody take shots at them until I was hurting too badly to continue that tactic, then stepped aside for Luna the clean up the rest.
After that was done, Luna began going through some papers that she had seen the cultists looking over before. I began clearing out the room the zombies had been in that Radiance had reacted to. And the others began checking the other rooms for anything that might be useful or important.
After I cleared and purified the water in the bowl it became immediately obvious that it was a scrying dish, as it activated on its own. It had two things to show me. First, was Leto and Commander Spriggans. They were in the middle of the demon hordes, separated from their unit. They were fighting valiantly, and they didn’t look worse for the wear at the moment. But with their positioning, I knew if I called the retreat now, they might get left behind. They might end up stuck behind enemy lines. Or worse, overwhelmed and killed.
Before I had time to process that, a second vision was granted. This one a bit closer to where we were. It was of the oracle, upstairs. She was panicking. Pacing, muttering to herself “fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck”, terrified of how quickly we were tearing through her forces, of how quickly we were making our way to her and undoing all her work. The angle of the scry then panned out, showing me the room outside, allowing me to see the fiendish minotaur guarding the door to her chambers. It gave me a good idea of what we were going to be facing when we went up there. It was a tiny room to be dealing with such a large creature, not much room to maneuver. Not much room to get Luna into a flanking position.
But more importantly, we’d been planning to call the retreat after this floor. Because we were all exhausted. We were low on magic. We were low on healing. We were hurting. But if we did that, we were going to put Leto and Commander Spriggans in danger.
I had to make a call. Retreat. Put the mission and the people in front of me first and risk Leto. Or push forward, risk everything so I could try to bring everyone back safe. Assuming I didn’t get everyone killed doing so.
I was paralyzed with indecision.
The others were talking about various things they’d found. A list of traitors here and elsewhere, which was useful. Some other things I honestly was too distracted at the time to really process. Then Luna started talking about how we ought to head out if we were going to call the retreat and get back to Defender’s heart, since we were getting tired. Melody and Hiskaria agreed.
I stopped them. I told them to wait. I explained I’d seen something in the scrying room, and I explained what I’d seen and why it was a problem for retreating. But also why not retreating was a problem.
Luna said she didn’t give a damn, and said on the count of three everyone raise their hand who voted to keep going. All three of them did.
I—was speechless. I am not so proud as to think they did not understand how much of a risk they were taking pushing forward. They knew how much they were risking, and what they were doing, to keep Leto safe. A man they’ve barely even met once, but who they knew was important to me.
I owe them. More than I can begin to repay. But I am going to start, as best I can.
After I finished cleansing the second floor, we made our plan for how to deal with the third. We knew that the oracle was not at her best. We also knew how the minotaur’s room was laid out. We decided to use this to our advantage. There wasn’t much room to maneuver—not even enough for us to bring our ranger companions along, we had them watch our backs and stay on the second floor—but there was just enough to possibly get Luna in behind him if we played our cards right.
Luna drank another invisibility potion, and crept ahead of us. We waited for half a minute, then followed, with Melody in the lead. The plan was for her to lure the beast forward, as she was the only one with a weapon that could reach as far as the minotaur’s. She would stand in the stairwell and taunt the beast until it charged her, then Luna would step behind it and attack the moment its back was no longer to the door.
The plan worked. It worked exactly like we’d planned. Except for one problem. I didn’t see it for myself, I was still in the stairwell. But I heard about it afterwards. When the beast began to lumber forward, Luna stepped in to attack. She landed a devastating blow, drawing her axe up from the bottom of its spine to its neck. The creature stopped, and swung around, and its own axe swung into Luna. The fiendish creature put a smite into the blow, and its full strength behind it. With a single swing, Luna crumpled. I didn’t see the attack, but I saw the end result. There was blood everywhere.
Commander Tirabade charged in, and ended the beast’s life in a single final stroke, Luna having nearly ended it with her single blow. This left the room clear for Hiskaria to run in and use her wand to heal Luna back to her feet, and Melody to finish getting her back up. By the time I reached her, she looked good as new, if not a little shaken or perhaps just displeased that her blow hadn’t killed the beast outright. There was blood splattered across everything.
I really owe Luna after all this is over, with how close that was.
Then Luna suggested we do that again for the next room. We went to argue. I wondered if maybe she’d taken some head trauma on top of the axe wound. But she pointed out that technically the plan worked fine—she’d just gotten unlucky with the minotaur’s axe. She was pretty sure the same wouldn’t happen a second time with this panicky oracle. And this time we’d all be right outside the door.
I hated to admit it, but the plan had worked pretty well. And getting Luna in the room and flanking the oracle would be the best way to ensure she went down quickly. So we all agreed. Luna drank another potion and vanished, then we opened the door.
The oracle laughed manically when she saw us, her eyes wild and desperate. She was a twisted disgusting thing, her form warped into some sort of half-elf/locust combination by Deskari’s magic. I wouldn’t have even recognized her as a fellow half-elf myself if Luna hadn’t said something earlier when one of us was describing her. I am glad that the taint that this mark on my arm has left on me has done no such thing, I much prefer my face and arm as they are thank you.
The oracle—whose name I felt no particular urge to memorize, my apologies, I think it would have galled her to know she wasn’t that important—warned us to stay back. She asked where Luna was, to which Melody claimed that she’d been killed by the minotaur. One look at the bloodied room seemed to be enough to convince her of the truth of that, as she laughed in our faces at our folly. She motioned, and two portals appeared. What appeared to be two babau demons appeared, with Leto and Commander Spriggans held hostage. She warned that she would have them killed if we didn’t retreat and let her finish her work.
I…admit to not thinking straight here. I froze. Obviously, I knew we couldn’t just throw down our arms, not when so many lives were at stake with the wardstone right there. But I also wasn’t about to throw my brother and commander to the wolves.
Thankfully, Melody was much more clear-sighted than I. She ran forward, and attacked one of the supposed demons. The illusion around them flickered and vanished, revealing the truth underneath. Two constructs, which had created the illusory demons—and the illusions of Leto and Commander Spriggans, who were not there at all.
I was incensed at the trickery. I realized then that the desecrated scrying chamber had very likely been to look for someone one of us cared about to use against us, and she had chosen Leto. This kind of construct could only be used with an illusion preprogrammed into it—which meant they knew what to put in ahead of time, and someone elsewhere had put it in and sent it over. The constructs had the holy symbol of Sivanah emblazoned on them, so it seemed someone within their church was responsible. According to Luna, it was Lady Salzala. I’m inclined to believe her. Apparently, the mummified locust with the book she stole the day we met was addressed to her as well, so a lot of things keep pointing back in her direction. Commander Tirabade said she left with a contingent of her men on ‘business’ after the attack, so it would appear she fled the scene.
Unfortunately, her name was not amongst the ones in the documents Luna found naming traitors, so we lack any further evidence, although the Commander is going to look into it further.
With the bluff called, we attacked. Luna appeared as she swung her axe at the twisted locust oracle. Both Luna and the oracle looked surprised for a moment, I didn’t catch what either said, but then the oracle used a spell to teleport across the room.
While Melody and I focused on her and Luna dealt with the constructs that had flanked her, Hiskaria had a different idea in mind. She swung around, avoiding the fight entirely, and pulled out the rod of cancellation we’d been given to destroy the Wardstone. We were here to do a job, and she was going to make sure it got done, one way or another.
The oracle cried out, but it was too late. Hiskaria pushed past whatever last defenses the final piece of the wardstone may have had, and it shattered in a blinding flash. Shards rained down around us like meteors in miniature. They ripped the oracle and her constructs to shreds, but miraculously the rest of us were untouched—whenever they came near us, they redirected, whooshing around as if we had our own little gravity field and then being thrown in another direction.
Then everything went white. Me, Luna, Melody, and Hiskaria found ourselves in this place alone, Commander Tirabade was nowhere to be seen. Radiance floated before us, pulsing with energy, their blade face down. They spoke, and as they did we began to see visions of what they spoke of. Visions of things past. Of how the Wardstone came to be. Of Commander Tirabade and Stauton Vhagn…apparently former friends, before his betrayal. Of the Stormlord’s first attack on the Wardstone, and then Stauton’s betrayal and escape from the city. And then the most recent attack on the stone, the one that shattered it and brought us together. The attack that killed Trendalor—we know for certain now that the city’s defender is dead, his body stolen away by demons. And then we saw various demons guarding the stone, each powerful entity growing bored with their post and handing it off to one below them, until finally it fell to the oracle, who paced the room fearfully, knowing what would happen to her should she fail at our hands.
Then we saw what was supposed to happen next. The fate that we avoided. The time that was meant to come to pass, but didn’t. Arelu Vorlesh stepped from a portal with a purple crystal in hand, and began corrupting the Wardstone. And she succeeded. Dark tendrils spread through the land, they infected the crusaders through their connection to the divine within the Wardstone, and it twisted and warped them all into half-fiend monstrosities under Deskari’s power. Deskari’s army grew into a force all that more unstoppable, bolstered by our own men whose lives and souls were ripped away all at once.
Then the vision shattered, and we saw what had happened when we shattered the Wardstone instead. A great wave of golden energy swept across the land, destroying countless demons in its wake. Not obliterating their forces, unfortunately—more will come crawling from the Worldwound in the days to come, but it’s still a mighty blow that should buy us some time to regroup after what they did to Kenabres. A nice bit of divine retribution for those who have died.
Radiance spoke to us again. Or, the Spirit of the Hall of Heroes. I couldn’t quite tell if this was the exact same being as the one who spoke to me through the blade. I do recall Radiance referring to themself as the Spirit of the Hall of Heroes before, so likely the same? Radiance is less of a mouthful and easier to write, though. Maybe just ‘The Spirit’ for now, to avoid confusion, because I still had a version of Radiance to use in what was to come as well.
The Spirit drew a glowing blade of light from what had appeared to be Radiance’s blade, and pointed it at us. They told us to show them that we were worthy of the power to defy fate itself. Then they took the form of a man wielding a polearm and the form of a crystalline phoenix formed before them. And flames erupted around us.
Hiskaria did what she does best and peppered him with arrows. I patched myself up with some quick healing and tried to come in for an attack, but their form shifted again, this time into a tiefling man with a large hexagonal shield and he blocked my blow. However since I was harrying them, Luna was about to come around behind him and get a blow of her own off with her axe. Their form shifted to a human woman with a similar axe in an attempt to block, but Luna’s attack managed to get through. Then the spirit’s form shattered. They reformed their crystalline body farther in the white void—now an elven woman with a bow, and began shooting off rapid deadly arrow shots at us that made Hiskaria’s already deadly aim look like a child’s shooting.
We went with the same tactic as before, with Hiskaria shooting from afar, Melody charging in with her glaive, myself healing and sweeping in to flank with Luna, and finally Luna dealing a crippling blow to the crystalline Spirit. The being’s form shattered, underneath was a second form, somewhat like an elven man in appearance, although still made of crystal, holding a staff with twisting gears, the only part of them not crystalline. They tapped the staff, and everything was tugged backwards, returned to how it had been when the fight had first begun. The Spirit sheathed their blade. They asked each of us in turn what we were fighting for, and in turn each of us gave our personal answer.
For me…the answer’s always been the same. I want to protect people. To defend those who are less powerful from the demons, be it with a shield or at the end of a blade.
The Spirit acknowledged us as worthy of the power that had fallen into our laps—and as such they were going to return us to that moment in time, and, as he put it, ‘allow you the power you were nearly denied’.
I found myself back in the moment when the Wardstone was exploding. Shards were flying everywhere. This time, however, a piece hit me, square in the chest. Unlike the oracle and her constructs, it didn’t tear me apart. Instead, an energy flowed through every part of my being, all at once. Through my body, my blood, and my very soul. The other three experienced the same.
We didn’t have time to talk about it, or to wonder at it. As the explosion died down, a portal opened before us. One we’d already seen once before, in a vision, mere moments ago. What felt like mere moments ago, in that white void. Out stepped Arelu Vorlesh, one of Deskari’s generals, in the flesh. She was holding that same purple crystal that she’d had in the vision. She commented on the fact that we’d destroyed the Wardstone that she’d intended to use—but that its power lived on within us, and she would just have to corrupt us instead. Then she activated the crystal. There was a terrible sensation, like something cold and oily trying to take hold of my soul. Commander Tirabade charged Vorlesh, but she cast a spell that began to suffocate her, and she went unconscious in moments. Apparently it was meant to hit all of us, but the Wardstone’s power had protected us. Unfortunately its power was not protecting us from the purple crystal’s power, and we were frozen to the spot. I…was certain we were done for.
Then a blue hand reached out through Vorlesh’s portal. A light from Radiance’s crystal streaked out through her and into that being’s hand. Something was cast, and Arelu Vorlesh was left badly injured, and we were freed. Vorlesh fled. We didn’t ever get a good look at the other being.
Radiance has been silent since.
I can’t say for certain. But I think Auriel saved us. Some piece of his soul. Some version of him. I don’t know. It’s the only explanation I have. That light was in Radiance because of Auriel’s soul, so if it went to that being, it had to have been. Somehow. I know that’s weirdly optimistic of me. I’m not the sort to cling to thinking people spontaneously come back from the dead, especially people whose souls shatter on death. But—I mean Auriel was literally the Chosen One. If anyone was going to come back, right?
Anyways, Radiance doesn’t talk to me anymore. Or can’t, more likely, just like the whole ‘can’t choose Irabeth over you’ thing. But they haven’t flayed my hands, either. I think the whole ‘breaking fate’ thing means I’m able to bend the rules on the whole chosen one thing. Or maybe having a little divine power from the wardstone’s what did it. Who knows. I’m glad. If I’m honest, I’ve gotten a little attached. As much as they’ve gotten on my nerves and the whole ‘flay you alive’ thing pissed me off, I’m actually kind of sad that I can’t hear them now. For one thing, it was the last little connection to Auriel we had. I have no idea if they can hear me or if they’re in some kind of hibernation now. I’ve still been talking to them a bit. Like a crazy person, yeah, yeah.
Anyways, it wasn’t over with Vorlesh leaving. She decided to leave a parting gift. A whole swarm of babau demons. Real ones, not a bunch of illusions over constructs. Babaus are quite a bit stronger than the dretches and vermleks we’d been fighting. Under any other circumstances, we’d have definitely been overwhelmed and killed by a swarm of eight of them.
Instead, they couldn’t even touch us. I mean it, there wasn’t a scratch on us when we left. We completely overpowered these demons that should have easily outclassed us. The wardstone’s powers completely suffused our every action, everything we did seemed to be at the most perfect it could be. I cannot begin to describe to you how it feels to completely annihilate demons that should be such fearsome foes without risking going into territory that may start sounding like It’s bordering blasphemy, so I think I’ll reel it back a bit.
Afterwards, we healed the Commander, and began making our way back to Defender’s Heart. On the way, Hiskaria told us that apparently the very supportive voice in her head was apparently her goddess, Cassandalee. I’d never heard of her before, but Melody had. She was apparently more of a Numerian goddess, one of love, redemption, artifice, and good. Strange that she hadn’t gotten bigger in the 300 years she’s been around if redemption’s in her portfolio since there’s been a big need for that all things considered, since Valoria didn’t pick that up from Sarenrae. But I suppose since her main followers are apparently androids maybe she wasn’t really able to spread much outside her home base, so to speak.
Then the others decided to start hounding me as we walked back. I thought it would be about my arm, considering that seemed like the most pressing thing to ask about. But no. Apparently Luna and Melody had gotten it into their heads that Leto and I are an item. Really! I tried vehemently to correct them, that they really had the wrong idea, that we grew up together and I think of him more like a brother, but for whatever reason they still seem really unconvinced. Maybe if I send them Leto’s way he can talk some sense into them. No. He’ll probably just get them more wound up and release them back on me for the laughs. I tried to get Hiskaria to try to talk some sense into them, but she said since Cassandalee is a goddess of love she felt like it was now her sworn duty to not get in the way of this kind of talk. So now I have a Shelynite and Hiskaria to deal with about this kind of thing. Great!
Anyways. With the demons destroyed by the shockwave, there was no reason to worry about Leto and Commander Spriggans’ safety anymore. I’ll tell Leto about these shenanigans some other day. Tonight, I’m too exhausted to even think about going down there and drinking. Sleep. Sleep sounds good.
