Been browsing the shifty thrifting blog and feeling the joy of looking at random knick-knacks that I haven't felt for a long time. Tried today visiting the local charity shop, and stepping through the door was immediately overwhelmed and couldn't focus on much anything. Makes me a bit sad that I can't do it anymore.

(kxllerclaws) Practically on cue, a bundle of wrapped gifts from the Minett family appeared by Lunaâs home on Christmas morning. The paper designs varied, from snowflakes to reindeer to tree ornaments, while a tray of holiday cookies of all sorts was secured in cellophane. In particular, the latter was addressed to everyone, as it was theirs to share!
In Gremlinâs box, this time there were a bunch of Krampus-themed DVDs, as opposed to there only being bad movies. At least some of them should be âokayâ on the scary scale. Plus, there were some refined wooden blocks as well, each a different size, intended for whittling and sculpting.
For Luna, there was a cushion â which may appear ordinary to her, but it was actually a neck cushion for humans. However, compared to her size, it could be used to comfortably cradle her whole self, which could be nice for reading or watching something. There were also the usual veggie seeds, plus some hot cocoa mixes in jars just for her!
Lastly, packaged for Rev and his family were quite a few things. There was a scarf intended for Rev himself, which matched his haloes in color. It was even fuzzy to imitate the flame effect!
Additionally, many books could be found as well. Childrenâs books such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, and The Grinch were for Orbee, while there were action-packed comic books for Beep to keep her attention. They were age appropriate and featured different heroes, mainly because it was unsure which ones she would like.
[Happy Holidays to all of you! We wish you well into the New Year, and hope to see everyone again real soon! With all our love, the Minetts] â the attached card read.
Despite Beep's adventure, the whole family was still able to come together for Christmas day. They could set aside any lectures to spend the time enjoying the holiday. One tradition they all loved was the arrival of the Minett's gift after they'd sent off their own. Luna had already brought the lot inside and set them up to be opened before the other four arrived. Each of them picked up their own present, tearing them open with differing levels of enthusiasm and violence while munching on the Christmas cookies.
The dream demon laughed aloud at the Krampus themed movies. "Not the best quality, but that's kinda the fun of these. Some are pretty entertaining if I remember right." Gremlin explained to the others, setting them aside. He'd watch them later, definitely not with Orbee here. His expression softened at the second gift. They'd absolutely be put to use, maybe making something for the Minetts.
Luna was quick to sit the cushion around herself, like detachable armrests. She didn't quite understand why that made Gremlin and Reverie snicker. It was very cozy for her. "Can't wait to plant these, too! And I'll absolutely be making this soon." The puffball gestured to the hot cocoa mixes. "They'll be perfect to pair with the cookies."
The scarf matched Reverie's halos just as intended. He may not be so affected by the cold as most, but it was still helpful and appreciated. So he silently thanked them as he watched his kids open their books, shredding the wrapping paper. "THEY TOOK PICTURES OF THE MOVIES!" Beep exclaimed, the first to uncover her present. "Pft, I think these came first, but it's still really cool!!" Her father pointed out, looking over at the selection.
Beep flipped through them, totally enamored, as Orbee struggled with their own gift, finally opening it. They had refused help with it. Reverie couldn't help but smile at them both. "Hey, Dad?" His daughter piped up, taking her eye off the comics. "Yeah, Beep?" He replied. "What do all the words say?" She asked. "âŠah." The dream fae breathed. Right. She didn't know how to read. At least, when she wasn't actively using his own memories to figure things out.
"I'll read 'em to you and, do my best to teach you." Reverie promised, something he kicked himself for not doing sooner. The offer made his daughter's eye light up. Pushing their own books over to the two, the solosis spoke up. 'Orbee learn, too? With Orbee books?' Orbee asked. "Orbooks..." Beep muttered to herself. Their father grinned. "Of course!" He assured them, their own eyes lighting up. 'Yessss!' They exclaimed. Their older sister leaned over to them, looking over the books. "Your's have a bunch of cool pictures too, I like the snake." Beep added, pointing to The Hungry Caterpillar. 'Yeah!! Funny snake!' Orbee agreed. Reverie chuckled. It seemed they also didn't know what a caterpillar was. He could fix that. "Heh, we can read that first." He told them, taking the book as the two gathered around. Gremlin and Luna watched on, happy to see them enjoying themselves. Their friends really knew how to make the day more special.

I come bearing a request! The Brothers with an MC who's really good at cooking and baking? Like, the stuff food blogs dream of. Master-level instagram pastries. Could compete with the chocolate guy if they put their mind to it.
đ ooooo, I do love me some pastries-
(I know you have an *ahem* distaste for Lucifer, dear moot, so enjoy Lucifer acting like a bit of a dingus in his section!)
Lucifer
Oh, the human can cook. *insert asshole eyeroll here*. Great. Wonderful. Groundbreaking. Thatâs whatâs got all his brothers acting like- what was that word Levi used? Simps? This human has turned six of the seven rulers of hell into a bunch of simps.
Sure, the human has near godlike cooking prowess. Sure, everyone looks forward to their day for cooking. And sure, everyone thinks the humanâs pretty great.
Tsk, not him though. Heâs a refined demon. Some silly food isnât going to make him a lovesick fool⊠did he smell eclairs..?
Lucifer peered into the kitchen to see MC carefully taking a tray of eclairs ïżŒout of the oven and letting them cool off on the counter. His favourite dessert⊠right there in front of himâŠ
Due to not being a total moron, MC notices Lucifer and asks him what the hell heâs doing just standing ominously in the doorway. Lucifer makes up some bullshit excuse about reminding MC to do their homework and just leaves. Okay, game plan, he needs those fucking eclairs or he will spontaneously combust.
As he snuck into the kitchen that night, Lucifer took a moment to briefly wonder why he was creeping around his own house. He was the Avatar of Pride for pityâs sake! He could eat whatever he damn well pleased! Oh shit was someone coming- no? Okay, back to sneaking.
Lucifer crept into the kitchen, saw the eclairs, and all logic was thrown out the window. Time to eat!
âBEEL NO! NOT THE- Lucifer..?â ââŠâ ââŠâ ââŠyouâre very talented, MC, do you mind making more of these?â
SOMEONE SNAP A PICTURE! THIS IS THE CLOSEST LUCIFER HAS GOTTEN TO BEGGING IN THE LAST THOUSAND YEARS!
Mammon
Ugh, stuck babysittinâ some dumb human, how lameâŠ
As Mammon was throwing a âIâm broke and Iâm stuck in a pact with a dumb humanâ pity party, the most heavenly smell entered his nostrils. Cooking⊠good cooking⊠was Barbatos visiting or somethinâ? Nah, Lucifer woulda made a big fuss about gettinâ ready for Lord Diavolo. Huh, so what was goinâ on in the kitchen?
Huh? The human? The human can cook? Well damn, maybe this whole deal wouldnât be so bad. Oi! MC! As payment for babysittinâ âem, he got to have an extra big share of- OW!
Did- did the human just hit him with a spoon?! Th-they canât do that!
Apparently they fucking can. Mammon gets told to sit the fuck down and wait for the food like everyone else. He grumbles on the way to the dining room, but he canât fully hide his excitement to try the food.
The food even looked pretty! How did they do that?! Magic. It had to be!
After everyoneâs tastebuds were blessed with the heavenly substance that is MCâs culinary exploits, Mammon decides he needs to get on this humanâs good side in order to receive more food! Maybe even find some way to make a profit or somethinâ!
After weeks go by of trying to suck up to the human without looking like too much of a chump, Mammon eventually realizes⊠hey, this human ainât so bad. Theyâre nice, they make him feel good about himself, they give him headpats⊠heâs really hit the jackpot here!
Heâll offer to help MC bake or cook, but beware, he will try and sample the food before itâs done. Donât let him lick the spoon!!!
Leviathan
First thought? This human ainât shit. Thought after seeing their food? WOAAAAAAAH! JUST LIKE THAT ONE ANIME-
He was unceremoniously cut off by Beel asking demanding seconds. Humph, fine, he doesnât actually care about this dumb normie food anyway.
âŠwell at least until Levi saw a little something something on TV that he just had to ask MC to try and make. He shyly knocked on their door and when they answered, Levi shoved the screenshot in their face and stuttered out a dinner request.
On the day MC was supposed to make dinner, Levi poked his head into the kitchen and tried to make it look like he was just standing in the same room as MC and not checking to see if they were making his dinner request.
Not that heâd blame them for not doing that⊠whoâd wanna make some anime dinner for a yucky Otaku- OMG JAHSHSHABA THEYâRE MAKING IT! *fangirl squeals*
As Levi continues to commit the SIN of being in the kitchen at the same time as someone else, MC eventually just asks him if heâd like to help out.
âHere! Just keep turning the takoyaki.â âR-really? You trust me?â âYes, Levi. You watched how they made it on your show, right?â âYes! I wonât mess up! I swear on my honour as an otaku!â
All in all, it was a very cute bonding experience for the two. Now itâs a regular thing. Levi requests something for dinner or dessert, MC makes it, Levi helps out.
Satan
So, the human can cook. Thatâs nice. At least someone in this literally god forsaken house can.
He makes sure to thank MC every time they cook, then he makes sure to thank whatever deity is watching over him that Solomon wasnât the human staying with them.
As the months progress, Satan realizes, he should learn how to cook better. I mean, Levi and Mammon were somehow both improving in their cooking endeavours, and if MC could teach those two, then he would be a breeze.
Satan walked into the kitchen and simply asked if MC needed any assistance with what they were doing. MC just slid him some garlic to dice and thatâs how this mentor/student relationship was formed.
Satan was a star pupil, but Mammon and Levi werenât above trying to sabotage Satanâs progress to get him to leave.
Hereâs the thing, the sabotage worked, but it only worked once, and the two idiots didnât stop to think that maybe they shouldnât sabotage the meal they were going to have to eat later.
Well, cooking lessons continued uninterrupted after the ghost pepper incidentâŠ
Even when heâs âgraduatedâ their little cooking class, Satanâs always willing to lend a hand if needed. He also will slyly hand over some recipe books and cute baking supplies that he finds. MC should be prepared for lots of cat related things to come their way.
Asmodeus
The human can cook? Oh frabcious day! Heâs saved from a life of his brotherâs mediocre cooking! And the humanâs so cute too! What a bonus!
Not only is the human cute, but their food is just so⊠aesthetic??? Pretty???? Omigosh he just has to get a picture for Devilgram!
For the first few months, MCâs relationship with Asmo consists of Asmo not at all subtly asking to take pictures of their food and post it to his Devilgram. Listen MC, his followers would just love it!
Being the saint-sheep they are, MC lets Asmo sit in whenever theyâre making anything in the kitchen. And Asmo slowly realizes âhey, this cute human with the awesome food is actually pretty cool too!â
New Mission: Make the human fall madly in love with him so theyâll want to hang out more.
Whether the mission succeeds is up to MC of course. (I mean, Iâm already smitten with him sooooooooo-)
MC offers Asmo a lot of the pastries they make, but the Avatar of Lust almost always declines. Listen honey, heâs on a diet- wait, donât make that sad face! Heâll eat it! Look! Itâs- itâs deliciousâŠ
Diet cheat day is now every day MC makes dessert. The feeling of bliss Asmo gets when he takes a bite out of anything MC makes is only second of the treats is second only to the joy he feels at seeing MC happy that he likes their food. Itâs just so wholesome I canât-
MCâs food Devilgram has almost surpassed Asmo in terms of followers and honestly- he isnât even mad.
Beelzebub
Gasp! Lucifer finally got him the pet personal chef heâd always wanted! Thanks big bro! :D heâll be sure not to eat this human!
On the first night MC was supposed to make dinner, Lucifer needed to hold Beel back from breaking into the kitchen to see what was causing that heavenly smell. It was, difficult⊠especially because Lucifer hadnât slept in three days.
When they all sat down to eat, Beel practically inhaled everything and held up his half bitten plate for seconds.
We here at Stupid Headcanons incorporated recommend that MC have as many bodyguards as possible stationed around the kitchen at all times to ward off a hungry Beel. We donât want him eating the ingredients and half-tempered chocolate.
A cinnamon roll through and through, heâll eat everything MC gives him with a big olâ smile on his cute little face. Heâs not the best person to go to if MC wants advice or critique because the best thing Beel can usually muster is âit was really good.â
As Luke said in Lesson 5, Beel would make an awful food reporter. But we love him.
Similar to Levi, heâll give meal requests on what to make for dinner. (At this rate, MCâs going to have to make some kind of list).
He kind of just waits by the door like a sad puppy whenever MC is making anything because he canât get into the kitchen :(
Belphegor
The smell of freshly made chocolate chip cookies wafting through the house did reach the attic and it only fuelled his rage more. How dare the human win everyone over with cookies?!
After the attic incident, Belphie was won over with cookies.
Belphie just stands creepily in the kitchen doorway whenever MC is making anything and just makes shit really uncomfortable. Whyâs he doing that, you may be wondering, well, heâs trying to calculate the energy needed to swipe the bowl of cookie dough and sprint to safety.
He never succeeds, mainly because once he gets to the bowl, MC already has the wooden spoon ready to smack him, so he just freezes mid-theft and slowly puts the bowl down.
âOh my gosh, it says let the bread dough rest overnight? Letâs get a headstart and go to sleep now.â âBelphie what-âïżŒ âI made a pillow Fort, come in. Letâs sleep.â âIn the kitchen????â
Howâd he make the pillow Fort without MC noticing? Years of experience. Heâs trained in the art of- MC? What do you mean you canât sleep right now and you need to get a head start on shaping fondant?
âŠhe may have eaten the fondant while MC wasnât looking⊠whoops⊠Beel may have rubbed off on him a littleâŠ

The Lost Pearl Part 18
Syverson x reader
TW: really short chapter

When you woke up it was to a small body climbing all over you and a deep voice hushing. You groaned turning around and grabbing whoever was walking over you. You captured them holding onto them. You nestled your head into the wild hair and heard a giggle. Slowly you pealed your eyes open. You were met with wild orange hair. She turned around in your arms, her eyes were already bright without any trace of sleep. She tweaked your nose, giggling after. You let go of her turning on your back. Out of the corner of your eyes, you saw Syverson, he still looked a bit sleepy but otherwise already awake. You should feel shame by waking up next to a man you were not married to, but it seems that it did not matter in the Woodlands.Â
You put aside the scandalized thoughts and enjoyed the warm blanket and Rosamundâs rambling. The only thing that could make everything perfect would be a cup of warm coffee. Just as you thought it the door opened and Gisla came in, she stuck her head into the fort bemused at the picture. âHere have some breakfast.â She handed Syverson a tray with some bread and jam and oh thank the Gods - coffee.Â
Syverson handed you a cup and smiled when you clutched it to you. He had never seen you this disheveled. Even that one time you and he had fallen asleep in his study you were proper and elegant. But he had to admit he liked this version more.Â
âCommon Rosamund, give as a moment to wake up.â She was rambling on about something you could not keep track of. Syverson handed her a piece of bread with jam as usual food to shut her up. It worked this time too. You shot Syverson a grateful look.Â
He reached out grabbing your hand, squeezing it. âGood morning Princess.â He caressed your hand with his thumb. âDid I keep my promise? of keeping you warm?â You nodded, âYes very much so.â You looked at each other a moment longer. Both thought I could get used to this.Â
But you could not stay like this forever, once you had drunk your coffee and Syverson his it was time to follow your chores. Rosamund was told to clean up the mess while you went to Cella to give her some more lessons. Syverson went off to a council meeting. He looked back at you leaving the room longingly. How much would he have liked to stay like this, hidden away under blankets.Â
From there on the day went as usual. A walk, lessons, chores, more lessons, and then dinner. Nothing changed much about this in the coming days. Well besides the occasional gifts you found in your room. Syverson had gotten you a new red dress, a nice winter coat, a necklace, and some wooden figurines that will keep your books from falling odd the shelves. He had gotten you some more books and sought you out more often during the day to ask advice or if you needed anything, if the food was to your liking or if you needed assistance with something.Â
The meeting with Chae-Won had been postponed but finally, she came to Warhorse. She was a tall slender woman, with a crooked back and sharp eyes. âI have brought you some different woods we can use for the shelves, my Lady.â You and she looked over every option holding up to the wall. Syverson stood to the side, not interfering just watching. Once you said: âI do like the light wood but it will not fit with the rest of the room,â he butted in. Surprising you and Chae-Won. âWe could get more of the wood and do the whole room so it will fit.â Would he seriously build a whole new room just so you could have the light bookshelves? You looked back at the room, observing, what felt like for the first time. It was spacious but warm. Not perfectly cut and elegant like your room back home. It was, you could not put another word to it than home-y.Â
âNo, no.â You turned to Syverson again. âI think it is perfect just the way it is. I do not need light wood.â You walked over to the table holding all the options. You reached for a smooth almost shining dark brown, reddish wood. âI think this will do just fine.â Chae-Won looked at you. âJust fine?â You smiled at the older woman. From the way she was talking about her craft you knew she took great pride in her work and just fine would not cut it. âYou are right. It would be more than fine.â You put some of your books on the wood. Looking at how they would look together. âYes, this is the one.â You turned to Syverson, you felt the buzz of excitement run through you. He came over to look at the wood. âIt is a fine choice.â Chae-Won took all her samples and told you she would be back tomorrow to take measurements. She walked out without a word. But rolled her eyes at the young people in love.Â
Syverson stood close to you still smiling down at you. âThank you for this.â You turned to him. He shook his head as if he had done nothing special. âAre you happy?â He was still prepared to tear out all the dark wood or do whatever you wished. You knew he would but it was not necessary. So to reassure him you took his hand in yours. âVery much so.â His eyes flickered back and forth between yours trying to see if you were telling the truth. Once he was satisfied he squeezed your hand. It shot even more tingles through your hand, up your arm, and made your heart beat quicken. You could not help but step a bit closer to him, wishing to feel his warmth and smell his scent. Suddenly a thought struck you, âI do not think I have been this happy in a long time.â You whispered to him. It made him take a step closer to you. Your chests would be touching if it was not for the hands between you. He wrapped one of his arms around you. âNeither have I,â he whispered back. You let go of his hand, putting them up against his chest. Finally playing with the pear he still had around his neck, like you had wanted to for a while. âYou still wear it.â You looked up at him. His eyes were solely focused on you. âOf course. You gave it to me.â He held you closer to him and lifted his other hand to caress your cheek. You leaned into it. âIf you let me. I will wear it to my dying breath. And if there is a life after I will keep it right by my heart.â You could hardly breathe. Shaking your head you whispered. âBut it is not treasure.â He lifted your head, making you look into his eyes. âTo me it is.â You took the pear in your hand, laying it straight above his heart. âThen I wish for you to carry it until your dying breath and even after.â Syversonâs heart was racing underneath your fingers. Matching your pounding heart. Slowly Syverson leaned down, you matched it by every inch. âRosamund will be here any second.â You breathed out. He could feel it on his lips, making him halt enjoying the feeling. âThen I will leave you to your school work.â He breathed back but made no move to leave. He still held you. His scent was intoxicating and all you wanted was to find out if he tasted intoxicating too.Â
Yet, you did not. You leaned up and kissed the corner of his mouth. âThank you for all the gifts.â He tried to turn to chase your lips. His eyes were closed. âSo you accept them?â It was a strange question but you answered anyways. âOf course.â This was it, he grabbed you once more to him leaning down. He needed to taste your lips. Just as you were about to you heard Rosamund yelling excited in the corridor. âY/N, Y/N.â Syverson groaned stepping back from you. Rosamund did not need to see this. It would confuse her. But it did not matter. You had accepted his gifts. He lifted your chin kissing the corner of your mouth like you had done and left the room.Â
Rosamund burst in a second later, you still stood shocked and still by the table. Touching the spot Syverson had kissed. It was tingling. And you wished to feel it again.

In one of your fics of Felix Getting caught jerking off you said he was like a boy getting caught by him mother I was wondering if you could write one with a young Felix getting caught by his mom?
Idk why I found this request odd. But it's the only one my brain hyperfocused on for some reason, so let's do it!
(For the sake of the ask, FĂ©lix is 18 in this, though let's face it he's definitely done this at a younger age)
"Hey baby, how was school?"
"Good-Mateo! Put your toys away!"
FĂ©lix barked at his younger brother, who was upstairs, doing annoying brother shit. FĂ©lix kicked his toys out of the hallway, and went for the kitchen, where his mom and his older brother, Julio, were cooking. Julio looked down at him as he gutted the fish on the tray. It was a job that he always offered to do, especially when their mom just did her nails.
"You're smiling. Something good happen?"
"Oh definitely, we're doing group projects, and you won't guess who my partner is."
His mother definitely knew, given her smile.
"Let me guess, a girl."
"Not just a girl. THE girl. Aka, the most beautiful, the most funny, the most...well, EVERYTHING. Pepa! Oh you should've seen her today, mami. Cute little braids, new lipstick that made her look like she was made of gold-ugh, it KILLS me, mami~"
His mom wiped her hands on her apron, patting his cheek affectionately.
"Oh, you got bit by the love bug honey, and bad. When you gonna bring that girl home?"
"Oh she's definitely gonna come home with me, but I dunno if you'll have time to meet her!"
FĂ©lix laughed as he high fived his dad. FĂ©lix was...promiscuous, to say the least, and his dad was proud of the number of girls he's wooed. His mother scowled, lightly smacking the back of his head with her wooden spoon.
"You better not hurt that girl, young man. Alma gonna put a bounty on our heads."
"Hey, one thing I take pride in, is never hurting a woman. They're too beautiful. Speaking of beautiful, your hair just looks wonderful today, mami."
"Well thank you, baby. But no, you can't have a snack before dinner. Now work on your project till we're done."
"Worth a shot."
FĂ©lix chuckled as he went upstairs, to his room. He put his backpack on his chair, and hopped into bed. He should be doing homework, but a nap sounded really good. He looked up at the ceiling, and sighed. He got to be partners with PEPA. Damn she was pretty. Pretty eyes, pretty hair, pretty lips, and legs. God DAMN the legs on that woman. She even wore those long, orange see through socks and just. Shit, she was fucking fine.
"She even SMELLS pretty. Like rain. And oranges."
He was talking to himself, which was weird, but not in your own room. Could you blame him? No one understood her beauty quite like him. Even the way her nails gently grazed his hand as he let her borrow a pencil. She made him feel all warm and soft inside, like fresh bread. He'd do anything to have her give him a shot. Just one date. One chance to kiss her. Or more. If she was that kind of girl, he'd fuck her. He knew what women wanted. He'd give her everything, anytime she wanted it.
"...fuck it, I got a minute before dinner."
When the mood strikes, you know? He un did two buttons on his shirt, just to get himself comfortable, before taking off his pants, and his underwear. He reached over to his dresser for lube, and after getting himself comfy and his hands covered, he started. He was slow at first, rubbing against his thighs first, just to tease himself. He took a deep breath as he cupped his balls in his hand, before sighing in relief as soon as his other hand gripped around his cock.
Slow and firm, just how he liked it. A bit of a pinch at the tip, making him close his eyes in satisfaction. He almost wished Pepa caught him right now. He'd kill to just have her sit there, study him with those eyes, green as emeralds. He could picture her now, doing that whole biting her nail thing. She always did that when she saw something she liked. He remembered she'd always do that when she'd watch the boys at school play sports. And her face would get all misty when they flirted with her in between breaks. He didn't mind that Pepa got around, he really didnât.
"Just means she knows how to handle an hombre."
God he could picture her. Staining his dick with that golden lipstick, nuzzling him in between those legs that looked so pretty. The shit he'd do to just hold her wrists, and fuck her pretty thighs. God he was hard, he could feel himself throbbing. He wanted Pepa. He wanted Pepa so fucking bad. He wanted just one peek under her skirt, or just one glimpse of her bra, he'd even be perverted enough to jerk off to the idea of her smell alone and-
"FĂ©lix honey, can you help me set up the t-"
"MAMI!!!"
He immediately grabbed his pillow to cover himself, even though he knew that wouldn't hide his shame. His mother looked away, clearing her throat.
"Sorry baby, thought you locked the door during your...activities."
"I thought you KNOCKED!"
"Sorry, sorry, that's my bad. Is that the stain I keep finding on your sheets? Because I have towels I'd rather you use-"
"Could you NOT talk to me right now? You literally almost saw it!"
His mother scoffed, but still didn't meet his eyes, thankfully.
"I was the one who changed your damn diapers, and I have six whole ass kids. I've seen it all before honey. Now it's normal, you know that-"
"What's not normal is you standing in the doorway talking to me about it! Leave!"
"Alright alright, don't shout. You come downstairs when ya done. How long should I keep the food on warm?"
FĂ©lix groaned, regretting...everything, honestly.
"I'll be down in a minute, moment's gone."
"Better be a minute, no one's eating cold fish in this house."
His mom FINALLY shut the door, and FĂ©lix groaned, covering his face in both his hands. He then grumbled, realizing he just slapped his face full of lube.
Dick move.
#not transformers#encanto#asks#lemon#rip FĂ©lix#FĂ©lix's mom is very#open about sex stuff#and while it means you can talk to her about anything#it also means she's gonna ask questions#once while shopping she deadasss yelled to FĂ©lix 'honey i forgot what size rubber you use again?'

Bucky pulled out of you as he held your head down, bouncing the bed beneath you as he pushed himself onto his back. You panted as your sweat dampened the sheet beneath you and he leaked between your thighs. You winced as you rolled onto your side and slowly sat up.Â
He had you whining loud enough that you had no doubt your guests heard it all. It only seemed to encourage his partner-in-crime as you soon heard a similar scene on the other side of the wall. You were sickened by that noise and stood warily as you cupped your hand over your cunt and scooped up his cum before it could drip onto the floor.
âI told you to keep it down,â he snickered and sat up, his muscled back to you as he stretched his arms above him, âget the shower started, Iâll be in shortly. You girls have a lot of work to do today.â
You grumbled and dragged your feet to the attached bathroom. The low buzz of the pipes filled the silence and you stepped under the steamy water. The moment of calm broke sharply as Bucky appeared from the other side of the curtain and stepped in behind you. He had you clean him with a lathered loofah and you bore it only for the eventuality of time away from him.
The other woman meant you wouldnât be trapped with just him. It was little help or hope but it was better than your former solitary torture.
You dressed in black dress with daisies and made yourself look like his perfect housewife. You couldnât hold the smile and make him believe it all the way but he wouldnât anyway. He flicked your chin and clicked his tongue.
âMmm, youâre getting there,â he mused as he dropped his hand and reached around to slap your ass, âbetter go get breakfast on. Iâll check in on our guests.â He squeezed and winked, âbe a good girl.â
Those words made your insides curdled but you swallowed your disgust and nodded, âyes, sir.â
He stepped out behind you and watched you go down the hall to the stairs and you heard him knock on the door as you descended. You went to the kitchen and pulled out the frying pan and the coconut oil. You lined up the ingredients for crepes on the counter and took two bananas from the yellow bunch. Your mother used to make the oversweet delicacy and you needed a reminder that you were still that girl.
You stopped as you searched for something to keep the crepes warm after you assembled them, a lid that could fit over the plate or something akin to it. The lower cupboards you rarely opened. Bucky left the cleaning supplies on the counter with your chore list every day and you never bothered to look for anything else.
You stopped and stared at the drain cleaner and the can of toxic oven spray. Well, that wouldnât be subtle enough, would it? Theyâd smell either of those a mile away. Anything under the counter would be easily discovered but it did give you an idea.
You closed the wooden door and went back to your task. You heard the voices in the next room and the scrape of the chairs on the floor. Steveâs girl appeared in the doorway, rubbing her stomach as her face contorted.
âSmells sweet,â she said as you simmered the bananas with brown sugar, cinnamon, and a little butter, âalmost too sweet.â
âMorning sickness?â you asked innocently.
âAll the time sickness,â she sighed, âanything I can help with?â
âDo you know how to make crepes?â you asked as you whisked the batter.
âNot really,â she shrugged, âbut I can learn.â
âItâs easy. Takes less than a minute,â you waved her over and tested the temperature of the pan with a flick of water, âso you wanna put just a little batter inâŠâ you ladled in a careful dollop and lifted the pan, âyou spread it like this,â you tilted it so the batter spread all around, âyou just use the spatula a little on the edges to make sure they donât stick and you flip.â
It was like second nature and she nodded quietly as she watched. The crepe cooked quickly and you threw it onto a plate and put the pan back to the burner.
âYou think you can handle that?â you covered the plate with the lid of a pat to keep it warm. âThen we put some of the bananas and wrap them, bit of cream on top and some icing sugarâŠâ
âYou like to cook?â she wondered as she added batter to the hot pan.
âNot particularly, but my mother taught me,â you shrugged, âshe can cook anything.â
âOh,â she flipped the crepe and glanced at the door, âI suppose⊠it keeps him happy.â
âHeâs never happy,â you murmured and cleared your throat, âso, you must be excited to move in!â
âI guess,â she slid the crepe onto the plate as you lifted the foggy lid, âyou know how it is.â
You smiled and she tilted her head as she squinted at you. You went to the drawer where there was a box of blank recipe cards and continued speaking as you fished out a pencil from another.
âItâs always nice to get settled,â you said as you wrote, âthey can hear usâ.
âI suppose, nice to be in one place,â she replied stiffly as her features relaxed.
âI have a plan,â you wrote and raised your voice just slightly, âoh, you know, we didnât even get you a housewarming gift. Iâll have to remind James.â
You went to the burner and held out the card under the coil until it caught. You threw it into the sink and watched it burn and curl. You ran water over it as it turned to ash and washed it away. You nudged the bowl towards her and leaned on the counter, âneed help with that?â
âNo,â she said as she started again, âIâm getting the hang of it.â
đ
You looked around the front room of the house next door. Steveâs girl opened one of the stacked boxes. For once, the men were gone and you could just enjoy their absence.Â
Bucky agreed that a gift was in order and Steve had mentioned wanting to explore their new hometown. You tried not to seem eager but even the small walk across the lawns enlivened you. How long had it been since youâd been outside?
You started with the pictures. You left the frames in a stack as she assured you Steve would put the nails in and hang them. Then you moved onto the kitchenware and you kept her from lifting the heavy box of dishes. She seemed to forget about her condition and the reminder made her frown.
You stood behind the counter and set the dishes in the cupboards one at a time, the plates clacking one on top of each other. She watched from the other side as she arranged the silverware in the plastic tray.
âCan you do me a favour?â you asked as you kept on.
âWhat?â she asked as she dropped a butter knife with the rest.
âI know theyâve locked us in but can you check the garage door? Can we get in there?â you asked evenly.
âWhat?â she blinked and pushed herself straight, âeven if we can, they wonât have been stupid enough--â
âThatâs not what Iâm worried about. I know we canât get out that way either. Itâs the same at our house. Everything is bolted up tight.â You assured her, âjust go and check while I get these sorted.â
She left you and you snapped shut the door and finished with the utensils. You slid the tray into the drawer as she returned, rubbing her stomach.
âYeah, we can get in but itâs mostly empty,â she said, âsoâŠâ
âMostly empty?â
âYeah, just the car--â
âThe car,â you rounded the counter and curled two fingers for her to follow you.
You headed for the plain white door that led to the garage. You hopped down the steps as she remained at the top and watched you tentatively. You went to the car as she crossed her arms.
âHe took the keys,â she said.
You tried the handle and the door opened. âI know,â you said as you put a knee in the front seat and peered into the back. Nothing.Â
You felt around under the dash and found the lever for the trunk. You pulled it and it popped. You shut the door and went around the back of the car. You felt around the spare tire and your hand felt something plastic. You grabbed the handle of the half-filled jug and pulled it out.
âHey,â you held up the bright blue anti-freeze, âdo you wanna cook dinner here tonight? A housewarming dinner?â
Her brows knitted and she gave a long blink. Her lips parted then curved.
âYou canât mean--â she let out a scoff.
âItâs sweet. Hopefully they wonât notice if I add enough sugar to the cake,â you breathed, âwe canât let them settle. This is our chance.â
âI donât-- I donât know. What if it doesnât work?â
âThen weâre still in the same boat,â you turned your free hand out, âthat man has drugged me for months. I think itâs only fair that he gets a taste of his own medicine.â
She swallowed and looked down at her stomach. She inhaled and cradled her bump. âIt canât get worse than this, can it?â
đ
You spent the day unpacking, the distraction not much of one as you thought of the bottle you hid at the back of the cupboard. By the time the men returned, you were ready to move onto the second floor.Â
Bucky offered a bottle of non-alcoholic wine and basket of expensive macarons as your gift to your new neighbours. He forced a kiss from you before he let you follow Steveâs girl upstairs.
You sat in the bedroom and heard the men ascend shortly after. You peeked in on them as you opened the linen closet to shove in the spare sheets. They were hammering together a crib. You knocked lightly on the doorframe as you watched them.
âHuh, whatâs going on?â Bucky looked up from the directions.
âUm, we were just⊠thinking, we could have dinner here tonight? A little housewarmer? I could grab some ingredients from ours--â
âGive me a list, Iâll grab it,â Bucky puffed as he bent to help hold the rail in place for Steve, âthat sound okay?â
âFine by me,â Steve smiled, âitâll be nice to have our feet on solid ground.â
You left them and returned to your only ally as she sat on the bed and stared at a packet of pills. She crushed it in her grasp and huffed. She flicked away tears with her knuckles. She tossed them over her shoulder.
âHe kept them,â she snarled, âitâs like heâs mocking me.â
âWhat?â you neared her and sat carefully beside her.
âI never⊠I worked with him, you know? He brought me these drinks and I didnât realise he was dosing them. The stuff, it made me itchy⊠it made me so hot and I just needed anything. I hopped on him I was so desperate and-- I told him to stay away. I realised what heâd done and I told him to leave me alone and you know what he did,â she crossed her arms over her stomach.
âNo, I--â you touched her elbow.
âHe broke into my apartment and replaced my pills. And he didnât leave me alone,â she spat, âhe did this all and he still has the goddamn pills like theyâre some sort of trophy.â
She hung her head and grunted in frustration. You leaned against her and put your arm over her shoulders. She let you and the tension drained from her body.
âEven if we get outâŠâ she whispered, âIâll always have this piece of him.â
She pressed her palms to her stomach and you frowned. There was nothing you could do or say. Youâd been lucky so far, even if it only fed your suffering. You didnât have another life to worry about.
âWe donât have to if--â
âI want to,â she hissed lowly, âI want him dead.â
đ
Usually, you tasted the icing and licked the spoon. Not that night. The blue shade of the frosting was anything but suspicious as you spread it over the fluffy cake. It was a perfect disguise. You topped it with blueberries to add to the theme and dusted on a few coloured sprinkles. You stood back and admired your work as the smell of garlic filled the kitchen.
âI know itâs not much,â Steveâs girl said as she stirred the sauce, âbut itâs what I can manage.â
âIâm sure itâs great,â you said as you took the meatballs of the burner and tested the spaghetti, ânoodles are perfect.â
You strained the pasta and helped pour the meatballs into the sauce. You mixed it up and poured it into a large glass dish and the noodles into another. You brought them out to the table and called the men to dinner before you fetched the wine, both alcoholic and not.
Steveâs girl sat as you poured a glass for each of you and the men sat. You set the bottle down and nestled in next to Bucky as he served himself. When the plates were full, the other woman nudged Steve and whispered in his ear.
He cleared his throat and stood, âum, I know itâs just us but I guess I should say thank you for all the help and weâre excited to be neighbours⊠canât wait for the kids to be running around these halls together.â
âMmm,â Bucky lifted his glass, âhopefullyâŠâ he muttered doubtfully and looked at you, âthat better be what sheâs having,â he nodded to your glass.
You held it out for him to sniff and he gave you a sour look. He tutted and sat back to twirl noodles around his fork as he set aside his glass. You took a sip of the gutless wine and speared a meatball on your tines. You chewed and looked at Steveâs girl. She let Steve rub her thigh under the table and forced a smile.
She was playing it well and you felt as if you would fall apart. You felt as if Bucky would see right through you the minute you walked in with the cake. What would he do then? Steve couldnât hurt his girl, she had the baby, but you, Bucky could replace you still. Maybe that was for the best but it didnât mean you werenât scared shitless.
You cleared the plates and retreated to the kitchen. Just you. Youâd gone over it, you didnât want them to catch on. You didnât get too close with them around, you acted like strangers, you really were after all.
You sliced the cake into careful portions and came out with two plates at a time. You put them in front of each chair and sat. As you did, Steveâs girl covered her mouth and gagged. She pushed herself up unsteadily.
âHoney?â Steve asked as he rubbed her lower back.
âItâs the baby I--â she gulped sickeningly, âI gotta--â
She rushed out and Steve gave a look, ânausea. Itâs been like this for weeks.â
âIâm going to make sure sheâs okay,â you stood, âgo ahead and start without us.â
You went down the hall and as you neared the bathroom, Steveâs girl opened the door and pulled you inside. She looked genuinely sick and you smelled vomit on her breath. She turned and rinsed her mouth and shuddered.Â
âI didnât actually feel sick until I got in here,â she wiped her face with the hand cloth, âwhen I realised--â
âEverythingâs in the trunk,â you assured her, âonce theyâre out, we get the keys and go.â
âHow do we know--â
âRetch,â you hissed, âwe wait until weâre sure.â
She gave an exaggerated hurl and you heard the clink of porcelain and silver and the drone of voices. You listened through the door as she watched you in the tight space of the half-bath.
âIâm thinking about getting her an⊠exam,â Buckyâs deep tone carried, âmaybe she canâtâŠâ
You let out the breath you were holding and closed your eyes. Just a little longer.Â
When you heard a sudden lull, your eyes rounded and you turned the handle and let yourself out into the hall. She crept close behind as you peered through the open archway. Both men had their faces on their plates in the crumbs of vanilla cake and smears of blue icing.
âLetâs go,â you went to Steve and shoved your hand into his pocket, âshit, theyâre not here.â
âHere!â she pulled her hand from his jacket hung on the rack, âyou think theyâre dead?â
You looked from one to the other and shakily felt along Steveâs neck. âStill a pulse. I think maybe⊠theyâre only knocked out.â
âThe serum,â she shook her head, âmeans we have to go quick.â
You hurried after her and followed her down into the garage. She climbed into the driverâs seat and moved it back as her stomach pressed to the wheel. You got in the other side as your body trembled with adrenaline. She hit the button attached to the keys and the door slowly raised behind her.
As she reversed, you felt a sudden shock around your neck and yiped. Youâd forgotten entirely about the necklace. She stopped suddenly and watched you writhe in agony.
âShit, shit,â you leaned forward until the shock stopped, âthe necklace.â
âFuck,â she reached for it and you batted her away.
âNo, youâll get zapped,â you gasped as you pulled on it desperately. It was too tight to get past your chin but too strong to snap.Â
She took the keys out and tossed them in your lap. You lifted them and twisted the necklace around the house key but there was no give. You sobbed and dropped your hand.
âI canât,â you looked at the bent key, âyou gotta go without me.â
âWhat? No, I canât--â
âYou have a baby,â you said as tears burned in your eyes and your throat tightened, âgo, please.â You dropped the keys on the dash and opened the door. âI canât--â
âNo, you have to come with me,â she begged.
âNo, you have to go before they wake up,â you got out as you grasped your neck, the searing pain still hot on your flesh, âIâll⊠Iâll survive. I have this far.â
âN--â
âShut up!â you slammed the door and hit the hood, âgo!â
She stared at you and her lip quivered. She gave you one last sad look and grabbed the keys. She sniffed as she gripped the wheel and backed out down the drive.Â
You fell to your knees and sat back on your ass as you watched her drive away. You shook your head and held it in your hands as you sat behind the invisible wall of your prison.
The tires screamed at the end of the street and the noise of the engine faded into the distance. You laid on your back across the concrete and covered your face with your arm. At least you could live with knowing you got her out. Well, you couldnât really say youâd be living. Youâd be alive but little more than that.Â
But youâd survive knowing that you kept one person from that pitiful fate. Even if it wasnât you. Even if you knew that you would pay for it in the end. Even when those men woke up and found you laying in the garage, the sweet flavour of antifreeze on their tongues as the bile of their anger overflowed and drowned you.Â
You couldnât do anything but wait. If you were lucky, they might just kill you and that in itself would be freedom.

Chapter 30 - This Venerable One Doesn't Want to Eat Tofu
"Hey, hey, did you hear? Elder Yuheng violated the sect rules. As punishment, he has to kneel in Yanluo Hall for three days."
In the morning class the next day, the disciples gathered on the Platform of Righteousness and Evil to practice and meditate. In the end, they are all teenagers and 20-year-olds, and they couldn't just do as they were told. If a master wasn't paying attention, they'll start whispering and gossiping.
The news that Chu Wanning had been punished quickly spread.
The disciples who witnessed the beating yesterday were not shy about sharing the gossip with others.
"Wow, why are you guys finding out about it so late? Oh . . . So yesterday Elder Lucun took you up the mountain to collect night dew flowers? Well then - you guys really missed out on a lot! Yesterday evening, in the Qingtian Temple, there was flesh and blood flying everywhere. It was horrible. Elder Yuheng was beaten with more than two hundred strikes! More than two hundred strikes! Not a single one missed! There was no mercy!"
The disciple made a particularly exaggerated expression every time he said a new sentence. No need to mention the show he was putting on for all his junior brothers and sisters surrounding him.
"Do you actually count all two hundred strikes? Even a big man could be killed, not to mention Elder Yuheng. He couldn't stand it and passed out. This made our young master mad. He rushed in and fought with Elder Jielu. He said not to lay another finger on Elder Yuheng. Ah, that sceneâ"
His facial features were wrinkled up like a steamed bun. He squeezed his eyebrows. Finally, he stretched out a finger, swaying from side to side, and summed it up in three words:
"Tsk tsk task."
Immediately, a younger sister disciple paled: "What! Elder Yuheng fainted?"
"Young Master and Elder Jielu got into a fight?"
"It's no wonder I didn't see Elder Yuheng in this morning class . . . so pitiful . . . what crime did he commit?"
"I heard that he beat a civilian in a fit of rage."
". . ."
Such gossips drifted into Xue Meng's ears from time to time. Life-Death Peak's young master had completely inherited his shizun's temper, so he was very irritable. It was unfortunate that more than one person was gossiping about this. There were groups all over the Platform of Righteousness and Evil, all muttering "Elder Yuheng was punished" and so on. It made him feel so irritated, but there was nothing he could do.
In one corner was Xue Meng, veins bulging on his forehead, and in the other was Mo Ran, unable to stop yawning.
Xue Meng couldn't direct his anger anywhere else, so he viciously spat at Mo Ran: "The plan of the day relies on the morning. You dog, you're so lazy in the morning! What has Shizun been teaching you?"
"Huh?" Mo Ran said with sleepy eyes followed by another big yawn. "Xue Meng, that's enough. I can handle Shizun's lecturing. Who do you think you are? I'm your cousin. Behave yourself when you talk with your cousin. Don't be so rude."
Xue Meng said fiercely: "My cousin is a dog. Be whatever you want to be!"
Mo Ran laughed: "You're so mean. If you don't look out for your elder sect brother, think about how disappointed Shizun will be once he finds out."
"You still have the audacity to mention Shizun! Let me ask you, when he went to the Court of Discipline yesterday, why didn't you stop him?"
"MengMeng, he's a shizun. Yuheng of the Evening Sky, Beidou Immortal. What did you want me to do?"
Xue Meng was furious. He drew his sword, his sharp eyebrows furrowed angrily: "What the hell did you call me?!!!"
Mo Ran's grin stretched from ear to ear: "Be good, MengMeng. Sit down."
Xue Meng bellowed: "Mo Weiyu, I'll kill you!!"
Shi Mei was caught between the two, listening to their daily bickering. He couldn't help sighing. He silently held the edge of his forehead, trying to concentrate on reading his book: "The sun and the moon are poured in the pot* when the spiritual core is first formed. The way of heaven cannot be interpreted, and life and death are involved in the process. . ."
*(T/N: æ„æ棶äžç - referring to the Daoist practice of leisurely inactiveness)
Three days passed in the blink of an eye and Chu Wanning's period of reflection came to an end.
According to the rules, the next thing he had to face was a three-month grounding period. During this period of time, he could not leave Life-Death Peak and needed to go to Mengpo Hall to do miscellaneous chores, clean the corridor pillars of Naihe Bridge, sweep the steps in front of the mountain gate, and so on.
Elder Jielu was anxious: "Elder Yuheng, to be honest, I don't think you should do these things. You are the best shizun of your generation. Doing this kind of dishwashing and floor cleaning . . . it feels wrong." He trailed off, leaving half the sentence unsaid --
The main reason is that the old man doubts whether you can even sweep floors, cook and wash clothes!
Chu Wanning didn't doubt himself at all and went to report to Mengpo Hall in an orderly manner.
All of Mengpo Hall, from the chief steward to the servant, was shocked to hear that Chu Waning was coming to do hard labour. They were terrified, as if they were approaching the enemy.
Chu Wanning, dressed in white, arrived in a flutter.
His handsome face was cold and calm, completely expressionless. If you added an auspicious cloud under his feet and a whisk between his arms, he would've looked like the picture-perfect immortal.
Manager Meng Potang felt very ashamed and uneasy. He was actually supposed to make such a beautiful man wash vegetables and cook.
Chu Wanning didn't have the self-image of being a beautiful man. He stepped into the kitchen and coldly swept his gaze over the crowd, who couldn't help but take a step back.
". . ." Chu Wanning was straightforward. "What should I do?"
The chief steward coyly pinched the edge of his hem and thought about what he should say. He cautiously went with: "How does this elder feel about washing vegetables?"
Chu Wanning said: "Okay."
The chief steward was greatly relieved. He originally thought that Chu Wanning led a very pampered life. He might be reluctant to do this kind of labour, however, all the other jobs were either dirty and tiring or required some skill. He was worried that Chu Wanning wouldn't be able to do a good job. Since Chu Wanning easily agreed to wash the vegetables, he didn't need to worry about it.
As it turns out, the chief steward was really naive.
There was a clear stream in front of Mengpo Hall. Chu Wanning went to the stream with a basket of green vegetables. He rolled up his sleeves and began to wash the vegetables.
This area is under the jurisdiction of Elder Xuanji. Occasionally a disciple of the Xuanji sect passed by. He saw Chu Wanning actually washing vegetables and was so scared that he couldnât even get a word out. He rubbed his eyes three or four times to make sure he wasn't seeing things. He said in astonishment: "Elder Yu-Yuheng -- good-good morning."
Chu Wanning raised his eyes: "Good morning."
Elder Xuanji's disciples shivered and fled.
". . ."
Chu Wanning didn't bother to talk with them and continued with his business. He broke the leaves, washed them, and threw them back into the basket.
He washed them very carefully. He broke each vegetable leaf apart, repeatedly brushing them thoroughly. The consequence of that was -- come noon, the basket of vegetables still hadn't been washed.
The man waiting in the dining room was anxious, pacing around in circles: "What should we do? Why hasn't the elder come back yet? If he doesn't come back with the vegetables, how are we going to make the stir-fried beef and vegetables?"
The chief steward looked at the sun and said: "Forget it. Hurry, let's replace it with braised beef."
So, when Chu Wanning returned, Mengpo Hall had already served the beef. The stew was so crispy and flavourful that there was no need for vegetables at all. Chu Wanning frowned. He held his vegetables, rather unhappily, and coldly asked: "If you didn't want the vegetables, why did you make me wash them?"
The chief steward's hairs stood on end. He wiped the cold sweat on his forehead with his handkerchief and said something that he regretted: "That's not it. I was thinking you could make a pot of stewed tofu with vegetables?"
Chu Wanning had no expression. Still holding his vegetables, he tilted his head and pondered silently: ". . ."
The chief steward hurriedly said: "If you don't want to, that's alright--"
He hadn't even finished speaking before Chu Wanning asked: "Where is the tofu?"
Chief Steward: ". . ."
"Elder Yuheng, do you . . . know how to cook?"
Chu Wanning said: "I'm not completely ignorant. I'll give it a try."
At noon that day, all the disciples happily entered Mengpo Hall as usual in groups, looking for somewhere to sit. Then, they headed to the counter to get their food served.
There was no shortage of food on Life-Death Peak. The food had always been plentiful and today was no exception.
The braised beef was fatty and lean, the fish shreds were vibrant and rich, the farmhouse pork was golden and crispy, and the chopped pepper fish was red and tempting. The disciples rushed to grab their favourite foods, lining up around the hall, asking the chef to add a spoonful of sweet and sour pork ribs to them, pour some marinade on the rice, or add some spicy sauce.
The ones who always made it to the front of the line first were Elder Lucun's disciples. The little guy at the head of the line had a big pimple on his nose. All he had on his mind was some Mapo Tofu. He skillfully carried the wooden tray to the last counter without raising his eyes and said: "Shizun, I'd like a bowl of tofu."
The shizun, with pale, slender fingers, handed him a plate full of tofu.
However, it wasn't the Mapo Tofu he was familiar with. Instead, it was a plate of strange food with a charred black colour and indistinguishable ingredients.
The disciple was surprised: "What is that?"
"Tofu boiled with bok choy."
Mengpo Hall was full of people, so the disciple didn't pay attention to answering the other person's voice. He said angrily: "Are you an alchemist? Can you even call this tofu with vegetables? I don't want it. Take it back!"
While cursing, he glared at the shizun there. As a result, when he saw the person standing behind the counter, the disciple screamed in fright and almost knocked the tray over.
"Elder Yu-Yuheng!"
"Hmm."
The disciple was on the verge of tears: "No, that's not what I - I didn't mean that just now. I. . ."
"Since you're not eating it, I'll take it back." Chu Wanning said blankly, "Don't waste it."
The disciple stiffly picked up the plate, handed it to Chu Wanning then left with his tail between his legs.
In a short while, everyone knew that Elder Yuheng was standing at the last counter, so the originally lively Mengpo Hall was suddenly silent.
The disciples lined up like a pack of puppies, and they hurriedly grabbed their food, panicked. They went up to the last counter respectfully, greeted the elder, and stumbled away.
"Hello, Elder Yuheng."
"Mmm."
"Good day, Elder Yuheng."
"Good day."
"Elder Yuheng has worked really hard."
". . ."
The disciples were very disciplined and were acting with an abundance of caution, so Chu Wanning accepted the tense greetings from each disciple, but no one dared try his pot of boiled tofu with green vegetables.
Slowly, the line was getting shorter and the food in front of other shizuns was almost gone. Only Chu Wanning still had a pot full of food. The pot of vegetables was completely cold and untouched.
Chu Wanning's face didn't waver, but his heart was conflicted. He had washed them all morning. . .
At that point, his three disciples showed up. Xue Meng was still in silver-blue light armour, refreshing getup. He bounced over with excitement: "Shizun! How are you? Does your wound hurt?"
Chu Wanning was very calm: "It doesn't hurt."
Xue Meng: "Well, that's good."
Chu Wanning glanced at him and suddenly asked: "Do you eat tofu?"
Xue Meng: ". . ."

The small plates clicked when you put a teacup on each of them, there were about six of them on your tray for the Hei Squad.
You had put an elegant plate of fruit in the center. It was for your husband, who asked you to bring some cherries, banana, papaya, and kiwi to him.
As you were giving the tray some finishing touches, you felt sweat dripping from your forehead to your white robe. You cleaned the droplets with a cotton handkerchief you carried with you.
The kitchen was too warm for everyone's good. There was no question on why the men never went in there. You bet they hid their disgust for the cooking area by saying it was a place for only the servants of the family.
You placed a few rose petals on your tray, giving a pleasant touch to it. Even if your new life was to be a servant of the Zen'in's, you still did your best to enjoy it. Your cheerfulness wouldn't die down, even if you were in such a harsh environment.
You snapped out of your thoughts and fixed your hair, face, and uniform. Then, you grabbed the wooden tray by the handles. A small smile was on your face as you exited the kitchen.
Your eyes were fixated on your delightful placement of the teacups and the decorations you put near them, you felt proud of yourself.
As you approached the room where the strongest members of the clan were reunited, you noticed the seductive voice of your husband debating with what it sounded like Jinichi. You hoped he appreciated the effort you put into serving him and his family.
You smoothly slid the door and blessed the room with your beautiful presence. Everyone turned to look at you, but then went back to their conversation. Your eyes peeked through your lashes to see if your husband noticed your presence, but he was entertained with his pen. His expression was of boredom even if his uncle was talking to him.
The only man staring at you with a shine of joy in his eyes was Ranta. He was mesmerized by your presence since the first day you entered the Zen'in estate as Naoya's future spouse.
You took small steps when strolling to the table, then you kneeled to serve tea for each one of them and place the biscuits at the center; while doing this, you heard a soft "Your tray looks beautiful today." Your eyes followed the voice and found the beaming face of Ranta, looking at you and your work as it was the most magnificent thing he has ever seen. You shyly smiled and propped yourself up.
You walked to your husband, hoping he will notice the arrangement of fruits you did for him. You even covered it with a fine line of chocolate syrup. You kneeled next to him and placed the plate in front of him. Naoya took a look at it but then went back to gaze at his pen and barely hear the conversation in front of him.
"Wow! You're so talented with your arrangements! Can I get one like that in the future?" Ranta cheerfully commented on the dessert you made for your husband.
"Yes, my lord," you replied. Naoya didn't respond to his siblingâs comment.
You lifted yourself once again, leaving the room with eyes to the floor and delicate steps. You arrived in the kitchen and began washing the dishes.
After a few minutes passed, you heard how the Hei Squad finished their meeting, and each of the men made their way around the house to different rooms.
You were placing the clean cutlery in a drawer but the sound of the sliding door interrupted you on your duties. You quickly turned and got ready to bow down. Naoya was standing in the entrance and saw how you reclined to greet him
"Be in my room in 20 minutes," you replied positively, and he left.
"His room?" You thought. "Arenât we married?" You turned your eyes and went back to placing the expensive forks and chopsticks in their respective drawers.
"Does he want to be with me? We haven't been together since our wedding night," you kept talking to yourself. Suddenly, a naughty idea came to your mind that made you bite your lip.
"Well, finally I get to do something fun. After all, we only accepted his proposal because he wasn't over 45 like the elders." You shivered at the mental image of the elders wanting to wed a young sorcerer like you.
"What if I go there earlier?" A wide smile crept on your face when picturing your husband naked, waiting for you. "No, I better go at the time he said. Maybe he's preparing something." You finished your duties with a smile on your face.
You looked at the clock in the kitchen and noticed you still had some minutes left. You ran to the nearest restroom and took a few minutes to put on some drops of your soft-scented perfume in private areas of your body and fix your looks. You left the room and made your way to your shared chamber.
You softly slid the door and found your husband sitting on a chair in front of the vanity. He was facing towards you. The room was well-lit from the open windows that let in the orange light of the afternoon. You bowed when meeting his gaze and closed the door behind you.
"My lord," you greeted him.
"Come here," you got near to his figure. His legs were spread wide, and he was wearing only his inner white robe.
"Kneel", he commanded when you were in front of him. You complied.
Your knees met the floor and your gaze was fixed down, never daring to look upwards if he didn't address you.
Naoya stared at your figure with a pleased smile on his face. His hand moved to the left panel of his robe and moved it to the side, revealing his hard cock standing upright against his defined abdomen.
"Look up," a surprised expression took over your features when you looked at your aroused husband showing you his needy cock.
"So?" He was satisfied with your reaction but felt confused when a cheeky smile showed on your face. Your body moved forward, and your hand took his pink dick in a soft, exploratory grip.
"My husband had some naughty thoughts," Naoya's breath caught up, but he released it unwillingly when you used your other hand to caress his heavy balls.
Naoya opened his mouth, ready to reply to your comment, but he had had forgotten how to breathe when your hand gripped his cock harder; making a fist that you moved up and down his shaft. The lack of lube made it uncomfortable, but your initiative had him subconsciously parting his legs a little bit more to make room for you.
He wished he could tell you to stop, but the reality was that he hadn't gotten any release since your wedding night a few weeks ago. He was desperate, and his cock showed it. He couldn't control his rock-hard member from twitching in your hand when you took a faster pace when you picked up his pre-cum and started to spread it around his shaft.
"I'm glad my services are pleasing you," you happily said. Naoya looked at you straight to your eyes; his expression was one of frustration.
Your beautiful lips got near his aggressively flushed head, and you placed your tongue underneath his ridge. You flicked it where his shaft met his head.
You felt the warmness of his cock against your wet muscle and smelt his salty pre-cum. Naoya released a moan from his lips.
Naoya kept his eyes on you working on his cock; he struggled to keep a calm façade when you had such loving gestures on his shaft. His gaze was fixed on how your lovely hand stroked his shaft from the base to the middle of his length and back.
Naoya finally resumed his breathing when you pulled your hand and mouth away. He opened his mouth to give you a command, but he couldn't form a coherent phrase when your tongue moved from his cum-filled sack to the well-defined vein on his underside, and made its way up to his slit. You coated his cock with your saliva. At seeing this, his dick twitched under your wet muscle.
Naoya released a moan when you took him again with your right hand and uncovered his pinkish mushroom head to put it inside your mouth. He didn't expect to enjoy the wetness and hotness of your hole trapping him.
Your hands went to his lap as a way to keep his thighs open and use them as support. You pulled yourself up so the head of his cock aligned with your throat.
In slow motion, you moved down his shaft, taking inch by inch on his mouth. Naoya's mouth was agape. He couldn't believe his beautiful spouse was taking his cock completely in their throat.
When you felt his excited head in your throat, you pulled back but then pushed it in again. You repeated the motion enough times to have your husband throwing his head back. His squinted eyes were glued to your lips.
You fucked your own throat with his cock. You pushed more of his cock into you until your nose was on his base. You held your breath for a few seconds. Naoya only kept his gaze on you, invested in the show you were putting up for him.
You pulled back and felt his cock exiting your mouth, but you stopped in the middle of it and pushed it in one more time. Your saliva and his pre-cum were dripping out of your pretty lips, and they made a small puddle on his crotch.
Naoya couldn't handle the erotic display in front of his eyes. Your little mouth fucking itself with his cock was too much for him to handle.
You felt how Naoya moved his left hand and grabbed the hair on the back of your head. He began pulling it, but he quickly stopped when he felt the delicious feeling of having your throat caress his veins. He also noticed how seductive your lips looked when his cock was sliding out of your mouth.
Naoya sensed he could cum right there, but he remained focused and pulled you out of your loving embrace with his dick. He looked at your naughty and dripping mouth. His gaze went to your eyes.
"What are you doing?" He said in a low tone.
"I'm pleasing you," Naoya clicked his tongue inside his mouth. His expression changed into an angered one.
"Have you done this with other people?" His voice was demanding but had a sad undertone in it.
"No," you responded.
"And how do you know how to do that?"
"I watched videos about it," Naoya raised an eyebrow. You felt how his grip relaxed on your hair.
"Very well," he flashed you his signature cheeky smile.
Naoya let you go. He made himself comfortable on his seat and spread his legs even further. His cock had gotten softer.
"What else did you learn?" He looked at you, amused.
"A lot of things," you bit your bottom lip.
Your hands went back to his cock. You placed your left near his base and the right on the middle of his erection, just where his cock curved to his abdomen.
You stroked his cock in two different motions, the first hand went clockwise and the second one doing the opposite, the motion had him curling his toes under your touch.
Naoya's sweat was forming on his forehead. His nostrils were flaring as he felt how you played with the foreskin of his cock, stimulating his raging boner in different directions. His tip was oozing more and more pre-cum, making it easier for you to pick up a faster pace. He let out another moan. His face was turning red out of frustration at his lack of self-control.
You took his head in your mouth. You caressed his defined mushroom head with your tongue, making it wet with your saliva. When his pre-cum coated your muscle, you sucked his sticky and bittersweet arousal. The wet sounds were filling the room again and got into Naoya's now-red pierced ears.
His breath became agitated. You could see how his abdominal muscles pulsed when you licked around his pink and warm head one more time. You were enjoying it as it was about a brand new Popsicle, the difference was that instead of having the sweet liquid dripping and falling out of your hands, it was your husband's excitement and your drool.
Naoya's muscles were clenching harder as you worked on his cock. His breath was erratic. You felt how he started to get bigger in your hands.
That's when you heard it, a low but long moan escaping out of Naoya's pretty and parted mouth. Soon after, a shot of his cum hit your throat. The bittersweet flavor was all over your mouth.
Your hands and mouth kept caressing his cock as he shot rope after rope of his warm cum in your mouth. You swallowed them as they filled you up.
You had to close your eyes and concentrate on making sure his cum didn't slip out of you, as he was shooting a lot of his seed into you, more than you had expected.
After his cock stopped oozing cum in your mouth, you made sure to lock eyes with him and give a soft and loving kiss to his dick; then, you softly put his still hard cock on his thigh.
You pulled back and sat on your knees. Your hands rested on your lap, and you looked at your husband. His forehead was sweaty; his mouth was agape, trying to get more air into his lungs. He looked at you with squinted eyes.
Before you could smile, you heard a bell in the distance.
"I have to help to prepare dinner," you said worriedly.
You stood up, approached Naoya, and gave him a peck on his lips. You cleaned your mouth with your cotton handkerchief and exited the chamber quickly.
Naoya was left with his soft dick on his thigh and memories of what you have done to him. He never expected this side from you. He closed his mouth and licked his lips. The taste of his cum took him aback.
You were finishing preparing the tray with the second dish for the male members of the Zen'in family.
Your head was still repeating what happened with your husband earlier on, but right now you chose to focus on making your way to the dining room.
You walked the hall until you arrived at the doors that shield the men from you. You gracefully slid them open.
You didn't expect to see your husband there. He had changed his clothing. You didn't pay much attention to it as you needed to elegantly serve the table.
When you finished, you placed the same sweet you made for Naoya a few hours ago in front of Ranta.
"Thank you so much. This looks so delicious!" He thanked you with an excited face. A smile showed on your features.
"They're my spouse," Naoya replied coldly, interrupting your interaction. Ranta snapped out of his in-love state, and you deeply bowed to your husband. You caught the displeased look on his face.
"My love, would you join me for dinner?" Naoya's features changed drastically when addressing you. He looked like charming man. You nodded and made your way next to him. When you kneeled to join him, you noticed that this time he was looking at you in your eyes, and had a smile on his face.

As the Insect Pillar, and the successor of the Butterfly Estate, Shinobu Kocho was one busy woman. She has a lot of responsibilities on her plate such as slaying demons, concocting medicine, and the like, so it was safe to say that she had no time to babysit anyone butâ
âShinobu!â The door bursts open and one of her⊠self-appointed responsibilities come prancing right through the threshold. âHow about we go out to the village and have some lunch, hmm? My treat!â
Even if her skin felt like it almost flew off in shock, her smile stayed the same as she arranged the papers she intentionally threw around her desk when you came barging through the door. It wasnât like you immediately coming in shocked her or anything. No, not at all. âHello to you too, (F/N). Not that I particularly mind, but why so sudden?â
At that, your cheeks turn an adorable shade of red. In your excitement to invite her out to eat, you forgot to greet her first. âAh, hello. But, back to the topic of lunch!â
Shinobu didnât really change the topic, but she waved a hand as an indication for you to continue.
âWell, you seem stressed lately. I was hoping to treat you out yâknow? And then you could rant and tell me all about itâonly if you want to of course, no pressure at all!â
She sighed. For the past few days, Shinobu was starting to get a little frustrated with the current medicine she was trying to make work. On top of that, she needed to handle so many other things, and do missions, check in on patients, cookâwell, it wasnât anything out of the ordinary, but it was starting to get on her nerves.Â
It was no surprise that you were starting to notice because even if you seemed a little too enthusiastic at times, you were still her best friend and a pillar at thatâyou wouldnât be here without being exceptionally skilled and observant. Overenthusiasm aside, sheâand everybody else includedâknew you meant well.Â
âI donât know,â She hums, excited to see how youâll react. âAre you done with your portion of the work? You looked a little distracted earlier, what with Tomioka-sanââ
With the mention of the water pillarâs name, your sweet closed eyed smile turned sour as you immediately placed your hands on her mouth to stop her from continuing that sentence. âY-Yeah! Yeah, Iâm done! You know I donât slack off. All the patients are fine and I've stitched up the few whose wounds opened.â
She was just teasing. Shinobu was well aware of your skill and work ethic, and while Shinobu was gifted in medicine, particularly pharmaceuticals, you had an uncanny knack for cutting people apart, and stitching them back up again. You were as skilled with a scalpel as you were with a sword.
âIâm just teasing (F/N)-chan.â The Insect Pillar replied, and couldnât help but want to push more of your buttons as your face seemed to relax at the thought that she wouldnât mention a particular someone. âBut are you sure youâd rather invite me? Iâm sure youâd rather ask Tomioââ
If your face was pink before, you were absolutely glowing right now as you put back your hand on top of her mouth. âShinobu! You know I...you know I donât like him like that! Besides, I am positive he likes someone else.â
She shrugs your hands offâwhich were slightly clammy, ewâ as she shows you a devilish smile that has you sweating more. âLie all youâd like, but I donât think thatâs something someone who âdoesnât like him like thatâ would say, donât you think?â
Ah, teasing was fun, but teasing you and tomioka were one of the few pleasures in life she made sure to enjoy.
â...Stop teasing me or I will eat without you.â
âOkay, okay, letâs go to that ramen shop in the village.â
Everyone didnât give the great Inosuke-sama enough credit!
He was raised by boars, grew up in the wild, and treated the mountains like his home. Insouke may have lacked skill in what society normally taught, like proper etiquette, and reading, but the wild was a great teacher on its own, and taught him things he wouldnât have learned in the company of other humans.
Spending his entire life out in the wild, Inosuke was able to learn how to heighten his senses, particularly his sense of touch, and how to observe. He may have been clueless in the socially acceptable ways to voice out what he sees, what he feels, but Inosuke is perceptive, and thatâs what people normally wouldnât associate with someone who was as stubborn as a rock, and as brash as a beast.
Inosukeâand Kentaro, Nezuko, and Monitsu for that matterâusually spent their time at the butterfly estate. The three of themâmostly Tontaro, reallyâhelped the girls. Cooking, laundry, cleaning, lifting heavy things, were simple chores that they did, and afterwards, Inosuke would often find himself looking for you and Shinobu.
He always felt this...fuwa-fuwa feeling around the two of you, and he thought both of you were like that Gengoro, his sister, and reluctantly Chuitsu.
There was a day where Shinobu was out on a mission, leaving you partially in charge of the butterfly estate, and spending some time with Inosuke. Personally, you found Inosuke to be interesting due to his origins, and overall, he was fun to be around with. Surprisingly, both of you really complimented each other despite being both huge balls of energy and enthusiasm.
That day, you and him were having a little spar by one of the yards around the estate. To an outsider, it was absolutely funny seeing him, who had a more built body compared to your lithe frame, getting thrown off and beaten to a pulp with a wooden stick. If Shuitzu were here to see the spar, he would be laughing his ass off in that pissy, slightly disgusting high-pitched tone at the many times Inosuke was thrown down. Manchiro would probably observe though, and would probably encourage him that he could beat you one day while helping him with his wounds.
Contrary to popular belief though, Inosuke was well aware he couldnât beat you, at least not yet. Regardless of the way you looked, he could feel it in his skin that you were a formidable opponent who could easily break his bones if you wanted. Seeing your strength for himself was an opportunity he saw where he could get stronger, even if it did frustrate him a little. Or a lot.
âThe great Inosuke demands a rematch! A rematch!âhe demands, fussing against the ground as you lower your sword and stand up straight from your last breathing form.
âAhaha, okay, okay! But Iâm feeling a little tiredâŠâ you pause and place a hand on your chin with a thoughtful look. In a few seconds, you snap your fingers and turn back to him with a bright smile. âAh! How about we take a break first? Then you could go back to handing me my butt?â
Inosuke knew you werenât tired and that technically, you were the one handing him his ass. You werenât heaving a lung out like he was, or sweating bullets. You were the picture of calm and collected, pristine like untouched snow, without a hair out of place.
Inosuke huffs and pushes himself off the ground. âFine! Insouke-sama permits it!â
âWonderful! Wait here.â You chirp and pad back into the butterfly estate, leaving Inosuke to unceremoniously plop back down to the ground.
A few minutes pass, and he feels his skin tingleâsomeone was here, but they didnât seem to have any malicious intent. It would have felt different if there was.
He looks up from his spot on the ground and spots the hanhan baori guy, his face looking the same as it did the past few times Inosuke saw it. The odd guy was just passing through the gate when Inosuke pushed himself off the floor, wooden sword pointed between Pochiokaâs eyes.
âHanhan Baoâ!â
Before Inosuke would have finished his proclamation to fight, you were back standing at the engawa with a tray of sliced fruit, and bamboo cups filled with cool water. âInosuke? Whatâs wroâGiyuu! What brings you here?â
Huh. That was odd.
â(F/N)-san.â Inosuke goes uncharacteristically quiet as his eyes darted between the two of you.
It was completely unmistakable. Hanhan Baoriâs mouth moved when you arrived. Inosuke honestly thought Dohioka was a magic statue before this day.
You turn to Inosuke and place the tray in a safe spot. âHere, eat first. Iâll just ask what Giyuu needs, and we can spar right after, âkay?â
ââKay.â
At his response, you give him a warm smile and pat his head (there was that darned fuwa-fuwa feeling again!). He watches as you and Tapioka move a few meters away, settling underneath the shade of a tree to talk, a bit too far away for him to hear.
He doesnât think he needs to though, because your body language said it all.
Your face was a little flushed, your smile looked even sweeter. Hanhan baoriâs mouth was curling upwards in a smile, and his eyes looked fond. A suspicious combination for someone who he previously thought was a statue up until now. But he digresses. Heâs never seen you look so...like this. You smiling wasnât much of a surprise, but with Pachinko around...it was different, and Tochioka seemed more open to boot. There wasnât much of a doubt in his mind. There was something between you two. He just couldnât put a name on itâbut there was something. Maybe he should ask Monjiro about it.
He munches on the fruit thoughtfully, watching you smile softlyâsofter than heâs ever seenâas you seem to answer a question Torioka asked you.
Yep, definitely something up between you and Tomioka.
Maybe he should extend his help. After all, the great Inosuke-sama was the kind ruler of the mountains. Pushing you two along would be a piece of cake.
Shinobu catches you pouting by the window in your joint office. It was adorable, considering how your cheeks were puffed, and your eyebrows were furrowed, but with your personality? Sulking wasnât like you. âCare to tell me whatâs wrong?â
Surprised, you jump and turn to find the Insect Pillar with her ever present smile painted on her face. It seems softer though, kinder. âHuh? No, nothingâs wrong!â You disagree, pushing yourself off the chair and tidying up the papers scattered on your desk.
She watches you with a small knowing smile on her face. âWhat, didnât see Tomioka-san today?â
You paused for a moment, imperceptible to any outsider, but to Shinobu, who has spent so much time around you, that momentary lapse in movement was enough of an indicator. â...No.â
Hit the nail right on the head!
âYou are a terrible liar (F/N)-chan. I thought the two of you were getting along? Should I go put poison in his tea?â
At her suggestion, you turn back as your skin pales. It was largely concerning how easily Shinobu could do that. âWhat? No! He did nothing, I swear it!â
âAwfully defensive,â The Insect Pillar snickers, before taking a seat on her chair and turning to you. With you pouting at her, Shinobu is reminded of how fun it was to tease you.
âShinobu-chan.â
âTeasing.â She raises her hands in a move to placate you. Well, annoying you was fun and all, but she was concerned for you, more so than wanting to piss you off. âAnywayâjokes aside, you know iâm always here for you, right?â
You knew that. She was always willing to listen to your problems, but you couldnât exactly tell her that youâre trying to distance yourself from Giyuu because he liked her.
Truth be told, you were getting along with Giyuu, so much so that youâve started to like him as more than a friend. But, you cared for Shinobu and you wanted her to be happy. She and Giyuu made more sense than you and him.
â...Yes.â
âAnd that I love you like a sister, right?â
Despite all the teasing, you knew Shinobu really cared for you. She may like to push your buttons, but oddly enough, it reminded you of one of your siblings, so you didnât mind. Just like your relative, you knew they did it because they wanted to distract you from your problems. An odd way of doing it, but they really would have gotten along.
âYeah.â
âAnd that I can easily kill a man and hide his body?â
âShinobu-chan!â
She laughs, the sound very similar to bells, and you canât help the bitter thought that maybe Giyuu liked someone with a mellow voice like hers. âKidding! Kidding! Well, kind of on that last one.â
You pout, and she brushes off her statement with a near irresistible bribe. âAlright, how about we go get some food? My treat.â
Awfully tempting. But there was still one more concern in your head.
âNo poison?â
âHave more faith in my, (F/N)-chan!â Giggling, Shinobu slides the door open, and beckons you over. âNow, letâs goâIâm sure youâre hungry!â
âYou didnât answer my question!â You say, trailing after her in mild worry, feelings momentarily forgotten as the thought of food replaces it.
It was any other early evening in the butterfly estate when the Water Pillar barged in through the doors, blood dripping from an open wound on his chest, with the oddest expression on his face.
Maybe what should have alarmed the butterfly girls were the deep scratch marks on his chest. Instead, it was the near half-crazed look on his face. Tomioka-sanâs face never moved from itâs impassively cold stare, why was now any different?
âWhere is she?â He rasps.
Aoi, who was standing at the entrance with Kiyo upon his arrival, was brought out of her shock. âTomioka-sama, lie down. Kiyo will lead you to a room and Iâll get Shinobu-sama immediately to take care of your wounds.â
âNo, where is she? Whereâs (F/N)ââ
From the end of the hall, you came down to see what all the huff was about. You were taking inventory of the supplies since it was a little slow today, but the ruckus urged you to go out and take a look.
âGiyuu? Whatâs going on heâohmygods, Giyuu, are you alright?â Seeing Giyuu paleâwell, paler than normalâand bleeding all over the floor was not what you expected though.
â(F/N)...â Seeing her alive and breathing eased Giyuuâs worries, so much so that he sags in relief. He would have dropped down the floor if it werenât for your quick reflexes.
Lightly, he feels you press a hand to his head, wiping the sweat forming on his brow.Â
âGiyuu? Stay with me, weâre going to fix you right up, âkay?â There was no doubt in his head that you could. Heâs been in much worse really. The blood loss just wasnât doing him any favors.
Regardless, he shakes his head and just savors you being here, warm and alive.
âHey, whatâs wrong?â
âI thought you were dead.â
âDead? Who, me? No, silly! I just sprained my ankle, so walkingâs a little hard, but iâll be fine!â
âI thought I was going to lose you...â He was starting to babble. The blood loss was starting to affect him more than heâd thought.
âLose me? Donât worry, Iâm not going away any time soon.â
âGoodâŠâ Giyuu breathes out a sigh of relief. He liked the thought of you living for a long, long time. âI like you a lot.â
With that admission, his head slumps over your shoulder, and his body gets heavier, prompting you to nearly drop him with the weight of his sudden confession and his mass.
Aoi and Kiyo watches, shocked beyond words as your face continuously gets redder and redder. Whether it was from the exertion, or his words, well, everyone knew exactly what was causing you to look like a freshly plucked apple.
âH-Hah?! Wait, Giyuu? Giyuu!â
And that is the sight that greets Shinobu. She was back from a report to Oyakata-sama, so seeing you all red and flustered with a fully grown man who was bleeding all over her floor and who was about to fall over and kill youâwith his weight, or with his words, Shinobu could easily guess whichâwas an especially unusual sight, but unfortunately, not really unexpected. And mildly infuriating.
âTomioka-san, you total dunce! Get treated first! Ugh, (F/N)-chan, donât let him fall, heâs losing blood!â
âOwââ Giyuu grunts, the bandage being wrapped around his torso a little too tight for his taste.
âTomioka-san.â Shinobu starts, her hands continuously steady as she wraps the bandages with precision and efficiency around his chest. âI donât think weâve had a heart to heart chat about (F/N)-chan, donât you think?â
After Giyuuâs surprise confession, you and Shinobu were able to drag him to a nearby room. He was passed out cold, and between you two, carrying a fully grown man would still be difficult, even if youâve both had special pillar training.
He woke up a few minutes after you were done stitching the open gash at his stomach which caused his bloodloss (and slightly embarassing fainting spell). These unfortunate series of events have led him here, painfully being bandaged by none other than Shinobu. It wold have been nice if you were the one doing it, but Shinobu sent you to go look for more bandages with this sickly sweet look in her eyesâwhich you barely noticed in your worry. The worry was sweet, but now he knows Shinobuâs motives. Interrogstion.
Giyuu could do nothing else but nod, doing his damn best to not flinch, and keep still.
âYou see, she really likes you, you know? Iâve never seen (F/N)-chan happier than she is when sheâs with you. Honestly, I donât know why she does, and what she sees in you but I like seeing her happy. You and I both know that she deserves it.â
Giyuu watches her wrap the bandages with practiced ease albeit with a little more force than necessary. Hearing Shinobu talk about you so fondly has him feeling grateful that you had someone who cared so deeply for you, and who was so willing to do anything to keep you happy. Even if the brunt of her attacks did fall on him, he could understand where she was coming from.
âShe does,â Giyuu says, surprising Shinobu as she finds the softest, most fondest look she has ever seen on Giyuuâs immovable face. For a moment, Shinobu could see that he cared so much for youâas much, if not more than you cared for himâand she knew that he would never do anything to hurt you.
Unbelievable. She canât believe he passed her test so easily.
She lets out a heavy sigh, turning back to the task at hand with a saccharine smile ready on her face.
âAll that said, If you hurt any part of who I see as my beloved sister, I'll make sure to use my medical expertise to ensure you donât get a chance to spread your genesââ
The door slides open with a nice loud clack, preventing Giyuu from hearing the rest of Shinobuâs sentence. Just as well too. He doesnât think heâd want to hear the rest.
âShinobu-chan! Iâve got more bandages for Giyuu!â
âAh, thank you, (F/N)-chan!â The Insect Pillar smiles, taking one of the fresh bundles you offered, as you moved to the side of the room, arranging the medical supplies for easier access.
Shinobu leans down, under the guise of tying the gauze, as you flit around the room, spreading sunshine in your trails. None of you mention how you blatantly avoid eye contact with Giyuu. But itâs not like heâs initiating any either.
âI donât think I need to continue my sentence.â She mumbles under her breath. âDo you understand?â
Giyuu winces as she tucks in another piece of bandage, grumbling in response. âLoud and clear.â
BONUS:
Later that night, Shinobu left the two of you alone in Giyuuâs hospital room to talk it out. It was a little awkward at first, but as the two of you melt the ice, your usual sunny personaltyâironic, as you were the Snow Pillarâtakes over. Throughout the course of the evening, you take out his hand with his permission, and have the time of your life holding it. It was a little funny how stiff and unused he was being at hand holding, but you found that to be one of his unexpected charms. And it wasnât like he was complaining. He actually found it adorable how small your hands were, and how it fit really well against his own.
âSo you donât like Shinobu?â You ask a little shyly, playing with the tips of his fingers.
Against your skin, you feel him shiver in disgust as he looks slighty disgusted by question. âGods, no, never.â
âSo you were serious about liking me? It wasnât a joke?â
âI donât think Iâd joke about that in my final moments.â
You giggle, feeling a little silly for even questioning it. But really, you donât think you could be blamed for it. âYou have a point.â
The two of you stay in comfortable silence for a while. He watches you trace vague shapes against his palms and heâs never felt so at peace before, than he did at this moment. After a while though, a curious thought strikes him, and he canât help but want to ask.
â...What made you think that?â
The tips of your ears stain pink before you look away and bring one hand to your cheek. âWell I thought you two liked each other, and it seemed like she suited you much better than I would.â
âI only ever liked you. I thought I was being obvious.â
As blunt as ever.
âAhaha!â You laughed, getting flustered in spite of the warmth pooling into your chest. âWell, I guess not enough for me.â Itâs not as if you were able to notice. You did think he liked Shinobu after all. âBy the way, why did you think I was going to die?â
He look up at the ceiling. âOne of Tanjirouâs friends...that boar kid told me you couldnât walk, and that you couldnât move.â
âInosuke? Oh, thatâŠthat actually makes a lot ofâa lot of s-sense!â
Giyuu watches you fondly as you laugh. In your defense, the thought of you spraining your ankle being blown out of proportion by none other than Inosuke was funnier than you ever expected.
âDonât laugh.â Giyuu pouts. It was the most adorable thing youâve seen. âBy the way he said it, I really thought you werenât going to live to see another day.â
You breather deeply, giggling a little as you look at him with mirth and happiness dancing in your eyes. âOkay, okay. Iâll explain it to him tomorrow. But I guess I should thank him. If you werenât nearly half-dead on your feet, neither of us would have confessed.â
âYeah. Iâll go with you.â
âCool! Cool...Um, Giyuu?â
âYes?â
âCould you maybe⊠perhaps, say that again?â
âSay what, again?â
âThat you like me?â
Giyuu chuckles, giving your hand a light squeeze. âI like you.â
Heâd say it a million more times if he gets to see you smile like that again.
âHeehee, I like you too Giyuu!â

A Different Kind of Night (h.s)
Pairing: Harry Styles x Reader
Summary: Is the Grammys! And youâre spending it at home with your handsome nominee.
Warnings: Fluff. Mentions of alcohol, COVID, anxiety and a bit of smut if you squint your eyes. Also, maybe some grammatical mistakes (English is not my first language. Iâm sorry)
Word Count: 2.6 k
Authorâs Note: let me start by saying that 1) the Grammys are rigged and I donât trust them. 2) I havenât seen the Grammys in years so I donât know exactly how the awards go and 3) While this is a piece of fiction, I love Harry and I hope he brings home one golden record player đ Remember that Reblogs, Comments, Feedbacks and Likes are very important! You donât know how much it helps me â€ïž Happy early Valentineâs Day. Hope you like it and Happy Reading đŠđ»âš
My materialist // wanna be part of my tag list?
âHarry, did you get the drinks?â You asked as you walked down the stairs.
âGoâem ready in the living room, loveâ Your boyfriend's answer came from the kitchen, his shoes clicking against the wooden floor as he made his way to where you were fixing your hair at the end of the stairs.
The moment he saw you, all dressed up and giddy, he let out a loud whistle. You felt your cheeks turn a tinted red as you felt his eyes checking you out up and down.
âWell look at you, pet,â He said with a grin as he walked towards you, rounding his arm on your waist and pulling you closer to him âYou look stunningâ
He placed a soft kiss on your cheek, making you giggle as his stubble tickled your skin.
âI wanted to look good tonight,â You said with a shy smile âEven if no one is going to see meâ
Harry hummed close to your ear âLucky me, then. Donât have to worry about anyone stealing you away from meâ
You scoffed âAs if that were possibleâ With one last kiss on his cheek, you started to walk away. But not before Harry stole one small squeeze to your butt, making you gasp and shoot him a knowing glance as you turned into the kitchen, still able to hear him laugh.
You stepped into the kitchen and made sure the finger food you ordered was ready and placed in the tray. You wanted to make tonight extra special for him despite everything that was going on.
After pushing it back a few dates, the Grammys were finally happening tonight. Given the circumstances though, they were being held in an empty theatre while all the nominees stayed home and watched the ceremony.
Upon hearing the news, Harry was understandably a bit bummed out, but then he thought better of it âAt least Iâll get to spend the evening with youâ He said with a grin.
It was true. If it werenât for the norms applied for the ceremony, you werenât going to be able to celebrate with him. At least, not at that moment. Thatâs the downside of having a secret relationship.
You were used to it, though. Years of sneaking around and secret rendezvous made you an expert on the topic of privacy. It was something you both agreed on earlier on in the relationship, not wanting to attract the wrong kind of attention towards the two of you.
And yes, although that meant to have to deal with all the rumors of your boyfriend dating other celebrities and see him up and about in different galas where you had to maintain your distance until you were sure there were no peeking cameras, you wouldnât change this for the world.
You loved Harry Styles as much as the next person did. But you much rather have Harry, just Harry all to yourself. And that made you one of the luckiest people on earth according to you.
âItâs weird to see the red carpet so empty,â You said as you walked into the living room holding the tray of food. Smiling at seeing Harry already seated comfortably with a glass of wine having already poured you a glass as well.
âPfft. Itâs boring anywayâ He said, helping you set the food before you sat down with him, kicking your shoes under the table and cuddling next to him âYou just walk, then stop to take some pictures, then talk to some random interviewer for a random channel, say youâre excited to be there and to be wearing Gucci and keep walkingâ
âOh yeah, sounds dreadfulâ Sarcasm clear in your voice âI donât know how you could survive thatâ
He grabbed a handful of popcorn and threw it your way, making you squeal before you retaliated with some salted peanuts, starting a small but very chaotic food fight among the two of you.
You were glad that it was only the two of you. While Harryâs manager offered to make a big celebration in his name for being nominated, he opted not to. Not only because he already received well-deserved repercussions for partying in the middle of a pandemic, but because this was a special moment for him and, even though he wonât admit it, he is scared of letting everyone down if he doesnât get the win.
You, however, still wanted to make the night special for him. So you suggested you dress up for the red carpet- even if the only carpet youâd walk on is the one in the living room, get drunk and let whatever needs to happen: happen.
He loved the idea, although now he was starting to have second thoughts ââm not gonna clean thisâ He said after taking into account the mess you both created.
Popcorn was scattered across the sofa and the rug, he had some pieces of peanuts tangled in his curls and on his suit. You didnât want to look in the mirror to check how you ended up.
âWell, I wasnât the one who started it,â You said, shrugging as you took a sip from your wine.
He crooked one eyebrow at you, ready to make his usual teasing comments known. But just as he opened his mouth, the opening number of the ceremony was starting.
The Grammys were broadcasted on tv, but all the nominees had a link where they should enter the moment their category is announced. Harry got it all set up in the living room, the computer and the camera ready to focus on him when needed. Yes, this was odd, everything was odd in these trying times. But you were glad they managed to pull through it and celebrate the artists like they deserve, even if itâs miles apart for their safety.
You enjoyed the first few numbers, chatting over your bets about who will win what category, yelling at the tv whenever your favorites didnât receive the golden record player, and laughing at the bad jokes of the presenters.
When the pop categories came, however, the both of you were quiet as a mouse.
You knew Harry was nervous, youâve never seen him fidgeting this much before. You gave him your hand to hold, to distract himself a little bit and for him to feel your unconditional support, and he squeezed it hard, placing a kiss on your knuckles and patting it softly with his other hand before covering it with it as his leg started moving up and down with a quick pace.
This side of him always surprised you. You were still amazed at how confident Harry was on stage and with people from the industry, yet when it was just the two of you, you could see the real him. The doubts, the second-guessing, the frustrations, the fears, and sadness of a real person. Not from the one thatâs putting on a show to please strangers in a room. With you he allowed himself to feel, really feel like he couldnât do outside the doors of your shared home. And you knew these nominations were eating him up from the inside with the anxiety it produced on him.
Harry was a perfectionist. He felt the weight of the world on his shoulders since he was sixteen, having the responsibility and burden to carry it without a word of complaint. He gave himself out on this album, showing parts of himself his fans would appreciate and accept. The pressure he had was unbearable and he still made it out of bed every morning, ready to give the world more than it could ever ask for.
You were proud of him, you always were and you told him time and time again, knowing he appreciated more than he could say. But sometimes you wished you could take him away for some time, letting him relax and breathe without constantly having to check himself if he did a wrong move or not. If he wins tonight, at least he will know it was all worth it.
The first two nominations were called. You could feel how hard he gripped your hand before he was asked to appear in front of the camera he set up in front of him. He tried to appear unbothered, but only you noticed the way his eyes gleamed with a shimmer of hope.
Harry waved at the camera and politely nodded whenever his name was being announced with his leg bouncing out of frame. But when the presenters called another name, he was the one clapping enthusiastically as his other colleagues received the acclaimed award. Never letting his true feelings show on his face.
You never asked if he was okay after he didnât win, you knew he would say he is and brush it off like it was nothing. But you also knew that he needed your support at this moment and you gave it freely and lovingly. Cuddling next to him and soothing his hair as he let your hand run through his curls. It was the little moments, the details that let him know that he is loved. And he feels so lucky to be loved by you.
He told you time and time again and proved it to you thousand times more. But every time he said it, every time he showed it⊠it still brought butterflies to your entire being.
âOkay, love,â He said as soon as they cut through commercials for what it seemed like the tenth time âThe album category is up nextâ
He said that with a serious face. You could tell that he was nervous, it was the most important award in the pop category; he had some strong contenders this year and was not at all convinced that he would win, especially given his other two losses.
You were about to say something, wanting nothing more than to comfort him and shake that mental frown away. But a notification rang on the computer, letting him know that it was time to get online and let people see him as he waited to be called.
He looked at you and smiled, letting you know that he was okay. âItâs just a stupid award,â He said, but you knew it meant more than that.
You smiled understandingly back at him and kissed him on the cheek before getting up to stand in front of the tv but behind the camera as you did in his previous nominations of the night, making it seem like he was alone.
âYou got thisâ You mouthed at him from where you were standing, sending him an encouraging smile and two thumbs up. He replied with a wink and his award-winning smirk as the announcer called his name among the nominees.
Harry waved at the camera and you can already see his name trending on Twitter right now, itâs been too long since his fans have seen him up close and he knew very well what he was doing. That smug bastard.
While the presenter was calling the other nominees, your phone rang. You quickly grabbed it from the table and thanked the godsâ Harryâs vĂdeo was muted for the time being.
âHello?â You said quietly, not really paying attention at the name of the caller before you picked up.
Harry had his eyes on the camera, but he furrowed his eyebrows to let you know that he was just as curious as you to know who was calling at this time and at this moment.
âYou need to open the door, now!â It was Jeffâs voice. He sounded frantic as he hung up immediately after.
You stood there confused for a second before realizing what was happening.
âAnd the winner for best pop vocal album isâŠ. Harry Stylesâ Fine Line!â
Harryâs eyes widened as he heard his name being called as the winner. He started looking around for you, but you were now gone from your spot only to return seconds later with a golden record player in your hands and tearful eyes.
You were now standing at his side, face away from the camera as the viewers could only see your arms extending the award towards Harry, who had the most beautiful and genuine smile youâve ever seen.
He took the award and threw it on the sofa next to him, quickly standing enough to reach your face and giving you a one in a lifetime kiss. Not caring that he was on national television at the moment. He was happy.
You felt how his hands cupped your cheek softly as his lips melted with yours. It tasted salty and you didnât know if it was because of the popcorn or the happy tears on both your eyes. You only knew that this was one of the greatest moments of his life and you were lucky enough to witness it with him.
Soon, Harry had to let go of you, smiling widely at you and mouthing an âI love youâ as he sat back down to start his speech. You quickly went back to your place behind the camera and smiled at him with utter pride.
You knew how much he worked for this, to separate himself from the kid he once was and to start his own career by just being Harry. And to see him smile like that⊠Harry only smiled like that when he was with you. His childlike grin and sparkle in his eyes brought life to your shared home as he held the award close to his heart, finally grasping the idea that that little boy from Cheshire made it.
He made it.
â... I want to thank my mum and my sister, who were always there for me. To the fans that made this record so special and have gifted me with their enormous support. And I want to thank the person I love most in this lifeâ He said, lifting his gaze to meet your teary eyes. He smiled like a thousand suns and gave you a look that was just exuberant with love before placing his eyes back on the camera. âI love you and I couldnât have done it without you. Thank you so much for thisâ
You waited a good five seconds after his transmission ended before jumping at him on the sofa, wrapping your arms around him as you plastered kisses all over his face.
âI told you you were going to win!â You said excitedly.
He laughed and kiss your lips with passion âYou didâ He said between kisses âAnd I didnât believe youâ one more kiss âIf this is not a sign for me to admit that youâre always right, I donât know what it isâ
You smiled before kissing him again, this time with more intent as you let him deepen the kiss, parting your lips as you granted him more access.
Harry grabbed you by the legs and made you straddle his lap, not breaking the kiss once as his hands roamed your back with soft touches.
âYou knowâŠâ You said, letting out a sigh as his mouth traveled from your lips to your neck âYou just kissed me in front of a cameraâ
He hummed, sending vibrations all over your pulse point âThat I didâ
âItâs going to be all over Twitter tomorrowâ
âI donât much care right now,â He said, placing his hands on your ass, making your hips slightly buckle against his front as he continued to ravish your neck and collarbones, leaving a trail of marks and soft breaths to follow later.
You chuckled, tangling your fingers through his hair, tugging it lightly so his eyes were on yours once again âHarry, you just won a Grammy!â
âThat I did, tooâ He smirked, pure joy visible in his eyes.
âAnd how would you want to celebrate? My Grammy award winning boyfriendâ You said, moving your hips with more intent and making him let out a groan.
Harryâs pupils grew and turned his eyes into a deep forest green, looking at you hungrily while he grinned âI got a couple of ideasâ

'@tomholland2013 posted a story'
 She picked up her phone to open Instagram. Yes, Y/N still had notifications on for his account even after they were broken up for months. Classic Tom.Â
 He posted two of the same picture on his story. No one understood how that would happen almost every time, not even the people working at Instagram to whom they contacted about the glitch.
 Tom had his hair slicked back, standing in a white t-shirt next to Harry, his brother, giving a million-dollar smile. They were holding a clapperboard together. There was text on the picture too, 'day 1 let's go!!' She smiled to herself. Just because they weren't together doesn't mean that she wasn't allowed to feel happy for his achievements. Even though she wishes to know all these big things from Tom himself she is, unfortunately, left here, watching a small part of his life flash in front of her for less than thirty seconds.
 "Are you listening?" Hope, Y/N's date said.
 "Yeah, I'm sorry. You were saying?" Y/N placed the phone back where it was resting, next to the cold wine bottle.
 "You seem distant," they said.
 When she 'met' Hope (she only really met them 30 minutes ago), Y/N wasn't looking for love, just sex, and that is what online dating specializes in. She hoped Hope knew what they were signing up for, sexual intimacy and nothing else.
 "It doesn't matter does, does it? We both know what we are here for. Why not just cut the chase," Y/N replied.
--
It was early in the morning, the sun had yet to shine in its full glory. Y/N could only think of the first time she stayed over at Tom's old apartment but then she turned her head only to find Hope's naked body next to her. Her heartbeat accelerated with the realization that he was not hers anymore. Being in a foreign environment didn't help her growing anxiety, twisting and turning her intestines.
 It's been four months, her feelings for Tom refuse to quit on her because she knows she could never quit on them, on him, even if he has. He probably has already found someone else in Canada, she thought. She didn't want him anymore but she still needed him, one last time just to teach her stupid heart how to say goodbye.
 Y/N wore her clothes and picked up her shoes, going on a trail to find Hope's door to get out before they wake up. Climbing down the stairs, she took out her phone from the back pocket of her jeans.
 '5 new messages from Sam' 7 hours ago
Sam: hey
Sam: ik it's late
Sam: I am going for a run tmr morning @6
Sam: do you wanna come?
Sam: will go to the new coffee house near my house after that
 Y/N texted him back
Y/N: I'll meet you at the coffee place
Sam: come fast. already here
--
Sam and Y/N were standing in the queue to place their orders. âYou look especially shitty today,â Sam said, running his right hand through his sweaty hair.
âI havenât been home yet,â Y/N reasoned her appearance.
 His mouth formed an âoâ shape. The person in front of them left the queue, they moved towards the counter. âOne hazelnut latte, double shot with skimmed milk,â Y/N gave her order.
 âAnd you?â the cashierâs question directed to Sam.
 âIâll have a matcha latte with oat milkâ
 Sam turned to Y/N, âHarrison got me on matcha, and now I canât go back to coffeeâ
 They paid their dues and moved over to the barista counter to collect their order.
 âSo, what were you doing last night?â Sam inquired.
 âI was on a date, it isn't a big deal though. Just had some needs to take care ofâ
 âOh, was it any good?â
 âIt was fine. I was distracted the whole time. Saw Tomâs story about halfway into the bottle of merlot. Couldnât stop thinking about himâ
 âSeemsâŠsad. But you know Tom is coming back for the Christmas weekend, I think. He might attend Harrisonâs Christmas eve partyâ
 âOne hazelnut latte and one matcha latte,â someone behind the counter screamed.
 âThatâs us,â Sam raised his voice.
--
Harrison had a bucket inside his house, under a sign that said 'drop your tracking devices here' with an arrow pointing to the bucket. Y/N dropped her phone on a pile of roughly fourteen others. Debating whether to see Tom's face was something she wanted or not made her late and not very fashionably.
 The house was decorated with empty liquor bottles along with red and green streamers from one wall to another. Everyone was drunk in their best dress. There were no signs of Tom yet. Y/N took a deep breath, walking towards the kitchen to get herself some liquid courage to help her socialize.
 The kitchen was rather scarcely populated. Empty glasses were lined up next to the sink. Are they clean or used? Bending down, Y/N opened the refrigerator to see if Harrison had any chilled wine. No luck. "Hey," a familiar voice was heard.
 She looked up at the familiar stranger.
 "Hey Tom," she smiled. The refrigerator light falling on Y/N made her blush visible.
She grabbed a half-cut lemon placed in the egg tray.
 âHow have you been?" Tom asked leaning back on the kitchen counter, observing her movements.
 Y/N walked towards the sink to grab herself a crystal glass hoping for it to be clean. "Just busy with work these days"
 "I heard you got a job at Condé Nast, is that true?" he took a sip from his beer.
 "Well, you heard right. You are looking at their new senior brand manager for digital", she said proudly.
 Tom hugged her from the side she was holding a knife to cut the lemon for her gin and tonic. "That's great darling! You always wanted to work there"
 Darling. The butterflies in her stomach were fluttering like the first time she met Tom.
 "I saw your story the other day. You started filming your script, right?" she dropped the lemon in the glass. Â
 "Yup, it was a long time coming," he grabbed the knife she was using and washed it without even knowing. He was so used to Y/N never washing utensils after using them and, he would always have to clean up after her.
 "Congrats on that babe!" The word 'babe' just slipped out of practice.
 Y/N grabbed a Bombay Sapphire standing still on the marble slab. The blue of the bottle shinning even in the dim-lit room.
 "I missed you," Y/N made eye contact, screwing the cap back on. A long, silent pause.
 I miss you too, so very much
 She cleared her throat, "so, how long are you staying?"
 "Going back Monday morning"
 She opened a can of tonic water.
 "Are you seeing someone?" Tom asked.
 "Wouldn't you wanna know" a smirk on her face grew. "I've been out on few dates, nothing serious. What about you?"
 "Met this girl online, dated for a bit but, she wanted something I couldn't give to her"
 Y/N scoffed, "did she have a foot fetish or something?"
 "No, Y/N. She wanted love, not my feet" they both laughed.
 "On that topic..." Tom calmed himself, "...I was listening to this song a few weeks ago and, there was this line, 'the smell of your hair reminds me of her feet' and it made me think of you"
 "I reckon," she took a sip of her gin and tonic.
 "No, seriously, I really related to that line. No matter how many people I hook up with, it will be hard to find the type of intimacy I shared with you. I still relate to it"
 "I hate going on walks alone and having faceless dreams," Y/N blurted, lacking a proper reaction.
 "You're still the face of all my fantasies," Tom confessed.
 None of them knew what to say next. Anything they thought of saying now included walking over the blurry line of exes to lovers.
 "You look pretty"
 "Classic me, had a glow up after getting my heartbroken"
 "You always looked this pretty. You are beautiful," Tom assured her. The 'heartbroken part did not sit well with him. He already felt guilty for taking a job across the pond which was a great opportunity for him to grow but was only possible by severing his ties with Y/N. Â
 --
It had just started snowing on Boxing Day. Tom was alone in his cold home, boiling a pot of ramen noodles. He took out his phone and snapped a picture of the burning stove with the pot on top.
Tom: *attached photo*
Tom: I come back after months and my family leaves me alone with no food
Y/N: you should add a poached egg
Tom: Thanks. I shall.
Tom: I think I made too much ramen for me
Tom: do you wanna come over and share?
 Her indecision was visible by the coming and going of the gray dots. Then finally, Tom could tame his anxiety by her simple reply.
 Y/N: sure.
--
There was a loud knock on the door. Tom put two bowls of hot ramen on the dining table and went to open the door. Behind the door, Y/N was standing with her hands inside her brown checker coat. There was dust of snow sitting on her shoulders. Her braided hair was made by the most anxious hands in town.
 The door opened and, Tomâs hands flew to take Y/N in his arms. They hugged like little kids hug their parents after being away from each other, for them, an eternity. It did feel like an eternity to them too but, they hadnât forgotten each otherâs touch.
 âI parked my car at the church, couldnât find any spot here âcause of the snow," she pulled out.
 âThe snow seems to be gaining momentum.â
 Y/N hummed in agreement. She took off her coat and hung it in the Hollandâs coat closet.
 âCome on, the ramen is getting cold,â she followed tom into the kitchen.
 They sat adjacent on the wooden table in comfortable silence. Tom used chopsticks and, Y/N used a fork. Only the occasional noodles falling in the broth were heard, along with the gushing of wind.
 âItâs really spicy for me,â Tom said.
 âYeah, I can see your ears turning red.â
She still remembersÂ
 Y/N raised her hand to cover her mouth while yawning.
 âSince you made the food, Iâll do the dishes,â she got up, grabbed their bowls, and walked over to the sink.
 Wearing the gloves, she turned to Tom, âit was quite tastyâ.
 Tom gave her a smile.
 She spread the soap on the dishes and turned the tap on. Tom pushed his chair back to get up.
 âHave you made any friends at your new job,â he jumped and sat on the counter next to Y/N.
 âYeah, sort of. Kyara works there too so, I have just made her friends my friends,â she washed his chopsticks.
 âThatâs good. Have you talked to Emily after the wedding? She told me they are planning on adopting.â
 âThey invited me over for dinner when they got the approval from the agency. Kyara made this amazing Hyderabadi biryani, it was her mumâs recipe so, it was obviously better than the restaurantâ
 âGod! You and your love for Indian foodâ
 Y/N removed her gloves, âI should go. Thanks for the ramen, by the wayâ
 âAre you sure you can go out in this weather?â
 âYeah I think," she started walking out of the kitchen.
 Tom grabbed her hand. âStayâ, his voice was like cotton.
 Y/N turned and made contact with his pleading eyes. She moved closer to him. âPleaseâ, he said. They both were inching in to lock their desperate lips.

Y/N did not notice when she had fallen asleep talking to Tom. Their naked bodies were covered by the white comforter. Her eyes slowly opened to a boy with brown eyes and messy hair looking at her.
 âI like it when you sleep. I love watching you sleepâ
 She chuckled. âThatâs a bit creepy, donât you think?â She had a sleepy voice.
 âYou look so serene, the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I could stare at you for eonsâ
 âBut love, I'm only here till the snow settles,â she caressed his cheeks.
âThen the cold shall frost our limbs," he leaned in to kiss her.

âobliviousâ [part one]
[ part one / part two ]
kairi has a crush on her best friend, but she doesnât seem to notice.
pairing: kairi âvalkyrieâ imahara x reader / media: apex legends
genre: angst & fluff / word count: 1.1k / rating: pg / warnings: none :)
a/n: @multifandombtchedits requested âa fic based off the first time Valkyrie or the reader says âI love youâ!â and i ran with it. this was originally supposed to just be fluffy and only have like 1k words MAX but... iâm me and i canât help adding some angst into the mix lol. part two will be up tomorrow. in the meantime, if you like this check out more of my writing here!
She had known it for a real long time.
She saw the way you laughed at her jokes, the way you smiled whenever she took a picture of you. She saw the way you would dress on a lazy day and how it seemed like almost a completely different person from how you looked when you dressed up for a formal event. She saw the expression that would paint your face when you were focused on something important to you. She sneaked peeks at you when you weren't looking or paying attention, glancing sideways moment after moment. She kept all these little snippets in her head, each one only solidifying the feeling she had known, only growing the feeling in her chest.
If someone asked her, she would've said she's known it forever.
But you didn't.
You didnât know that all the time you spent crushing on her was mutual. You were oblivious to her side-glances. You heard her compliments on your appearance when you looked glamorous, but you brushed off the ones she gave when you were dressed in pajamas. You noticed the way her smile would brighten after she made a joke, but you didn't know that it was directly due to the sound of your laughter.
Kairi kept it to herself. She didn't want you to know. Or, she did, but she was scared. She was fearless most of the time - confident, cool, and sure of herself - but if she paid too much attention to the way her heart swelled when you smiled at her, she'd start to fumble. She'd rub her sweaty palms on the dark denim of her jeans when you weren't looking. She started to think too hard about the jokes she wanted to tell, no longer a seamless comedy queen but instead too focused on what you'd find funny. She wanted to impress you in every way. She wanted to prove to you that she was worth it to keep in your life without ever making it too obvious. That was the thing - she kept all her feelings under wraps.
One day, you met up with her for lunch at her favorite Japanese place, the one on the street corner across from her apartment. You two were regulars there; the owner knew you both by name and would start making your orders as soon as you opened the door.
"The usuals?" Mr. Ito shouted over the clatter of metallic dishes coming from the back kitchen.
"You know it!" Kairi yelled back, giving him a smile and a quick wave as she held the door open for you.
You both guided her to your usual spot, the small table for two against the floor-to-ceiling window. The afternoon sun was perfectly blocked by the coffee-colored awning so that it warmed the wooden chairs but stayed out of your eyes. You slipped into the seat in the corner, Kairi following suit across from you.
"So," she started as she slipped off her red bomber jacket, "any more drama with whats-his-face?"
The past few days, you'd been keeping her updated about an annoying coworker of yours who'd been trying to hit on every customer who came in. "He's ''quitting'' apparently," you replied, using your hands for air quotes. "I heard the manager suggesting that he put in his two weeks, so I guess it's like he was fired in a nice way."
She raised her eyebrows and rested her hand on her chin. "Shame he wasn't fired. Kinda sounds like the jerk deserved it."
You nodded in agreement, shrugging. "At least something's being done about it."
"Regulars!" Mr. Ito declared, looking over at you and Kairi. He placed a tray that held two steaming dishes on the counter.
"I'll get it," she said, already standing up. She returned a moment later, placing the tray in the center of the table. You responded with a smile, already grabbing your plate.
"We already started looking for new hires. You know, you could come work with us," you joked as you shoved a bite into your mouth.
She sent you a small smile across the table, one that silently said "no, but if you weren't joking I might consider it." That's one benefit of being friends for years: you could understand each other with a simple look. Never underestimate the power of a well-engineered eyebrow raise.
"We did an on-the-spot interview with some girl who came in," you continued. "She asked me for my number afterwards. She seemed like she'd be a good-"
Her hand paused halfway through bringing her noodles to her mouth. "She what?"
"She asked me for my number after her interview," you repeated.
"Like, in a flirty way?" Kairi narrowed her eyes, her jaw suddenly tense. She dropped her chopsticks back into the bowl.
"I don't really know," you said, taking another bite. "You know I'm always oblivious to that kind of stuff."
Yeah, I know, she thought to herself. She looked down at her noodles, suddenly full despite not taking a bite. "Mr. Ito, can I get a box?" She shouted, looking over the counter. He nodded and disappeared into the back.
"Hey, what's wrong? You're leaving?" You asked, suddenly aware of the tension that radiated from her. Your lunch breaks usually lasted half an hour.
"Here you go, Kairi," Mr. Ito said as he approached your table, plastic to-go box in hand.
She gave him a grateful smile as she took the box, already dropping her noodles into it. "Nothing's wrong," she said, avoiding your gaze. "I just remembered I had some plans. A date." She hoped you would be oblivious enough not to see through her lie.
"A date?" Your eyebrows shot up. She normally brought girls back to her place after a night out, but she wasn't the type to be in the dating scene. She always said she liked it better without strings attached. "It's more fun that way," she had once said when you asked why she never slept with the same girl twice.
Your heart ached a little at the idea, but you weren't exactly sure why. Maybe because you two had been best friends forever, and you thought she would've told you earlier that she had a date. You two didn't keep secrets from each other. At least, that's what you thought.
"Yeah, sorry," she said with a shrug, slipping back into her jacket. She stood up after she dropped a couple dollars for her food on the table.
"Okay, well, see you later?" you called after her, but the door was already closing behind her. You were left at the table, alone, watching her walk away through the tall window. There was a sinking feeling in your chest, but you couldn't tell the reason that conjured up the anchor.

Outside, the sun has dipped below the horizon and behind wisps of clouds and falling snow, the sky has turned dark. Compounds of snow and bits of ice lie on the streets and dress stoplights as you wait at the entrance of a newly opened restaurant in town.
A miniature landscape greets you at the entrance. Artificial river water ricochets off of artificial rocks, onto the chiseled marble paths that you step over on your way to the dining area.
You make glances around the restaurant. Crowds of people are cobbled together, flowing like river water around tables and floral displays. Looking around, a familiar face emerges from the congested crowd.
âYou seem to have gotten quite popular.â You tap on the hem of Doyoungâs blazer, looking around the crowded facade of the restaurant.
âYou made it!â Doyoung says. Like a jack-in-the-box, he springs out of the crowd, jumping onto you and engulfing you in a tight embrace.
âI am very much here.â You reply, muffled by the confines of his arms.
âMy god, I havenât seen you in years!â He squeals, tightening his grip around your torso. âYouâve aged. A lot.â He snickers, crimping his face into a faux scowl.
âYou're not looking any younger yourself.â You spit back with squinted eyes.
âStill bitchy as ever.â Doyoung pats your head, lips forming a snarky grin. âCome in.â
âHow did you get here so early? Werenât you set to fly in about a week later from now?â He eagerly questions, excitement very much visible through his puffing chest and eye-squinting smile.
âSimple, I booked an earlier flight.â
âAnd lost my first class seat.â You seethe, holding up your economy class boarding pass.
âYouâre the best.â Doyoung giggles.
âI really am.â You gripe, narrowing your eyes. âNew York is one far place.â
âYouâre one to hold grudges arenât you.â He pats your back with one hand, prying the boarding pass from your fingerâs grasp with the other before tossing it into a nearby trash bin.
âFollow me.â Doyoung grabs your wrist and he escorts you into one of the private rooms, briefly passing by the reception desk. âThis is Karina, one of my staff.â
âHi!â She waves.
âWhere are we going?â You question as he pulls you towards the first sliding door from the right of the reception desk.
âThose rooms over there are the rooms for the VIP reservations.â Karina says.
âVIP?â You ask, shooting them an amused expression.
âI have a heart my guy, I didnât cost you your business class upgrade for nothing.â He ruffles your hair.
âFirst class.â You scornfully correct Doyoung, squinting your eyes at him, pushing his hands off of your head.
âHave a seat.â He reaches his palm out to point to the cushions resting on the floor and the recessed floor in front of it.
You slip your legs into the recession, eyeing a few floral vases and intricately patterned stems of miniature cherry blossom trees.
âSeems like you really went all out on decors.â You slip your phone out of the pocket at the sides of your chinos that are in the lightâs path, which shine olive green against the moonlight. âSelfie?â
âMy dining area should look just as good as my food tastes.â Doyoung obnoxiously chuckles before smiling into your camera.
â1, 2, 3.â You say in unison.
âArenât those at least a hundred dollars each?â You raise a brow at him, resting your phone beside your plate after a click sounds from it. âIs that not expensive for you?â
âNot if they look this good.â Doyoung winks.
âGood lord.â
âOh, uhh, by the way.â He whispers, sounding much more subdued than he had been the minutes before, his voice now softer than swinging doors and the sprinting servers.
âWhat is it?â
âIâve told you the restaurant is offering discounts ifââ He pauses intermittently in between words.
âFor the last time, I did not and will not be bringing a date.â You groan, cutting him off, well aware of what you were going to hear next.
Doyoung breathes out a shaky sigh. He parades a look of pity, brows furrowed and head tilted at an angle with a frown.
âHyung.â You slur your words. âIâm fine.â
âAnd hey itâs 2021, being single is the trend.â You object.
âIâm just looking out for you.â
âI know you are.â You try to reassure him with a smile. âBut if you donât mind, I want to continue eating the dinner that my friend prepared for me because he cost me a 12 hour business class flight.â
âDidnât you say first class?â
âEither way, I had to sleep sitting down because of you.â You scoff.
âAlright, Iâm going to check up on the other tables.â Doyoung nods, pressing his lips into a toothless smile. âLetâs catch up more over coffee after we close?â
âSure.â You hum as he turns his back to tend to more customers. Going seat to seat, he greets them with a smile, shaking hands with the occasional occupant.
You rub your temples and look down slightly, resting your chin on the collar of the honey brown crew neck wrapped around your torso. The loosely tucked out hems of your denim shirt hang under it, fluttering in the air.
Behind the strands of hair being blown into your eyes from the air conditioning, your eyelids drop. Youâre tired, exhausted, fatigued and everything else you can think of. Conversations around you seem to morph into buzzes of static.
Eyelids your field of vision as your upper body rests on the table top. Footsteps tap against the floor adding to the sound of clinking cutlery, sizzling meats and conversations muffled by the sleeves of your sweater.
A man waves in front of the reception desk as he struts into the restaurant. âExcuse me.â
âGood evening sir.â Karina greets, with a smile. âHow may I help you?â
âI have a reservation.â
âMay I have your name please.â Karina looks down on a monitor, tapping on a keyboard with one hand, brushing hair behind the shoulders of her blazer with the other.
âXiao Dejun.â
âAhh Mr. Xiao, you have a VIP reservation am I right?â She beams, looking back up at the man who briskly nods back.
âYour seat is in the first room to my right.â Karina reaches her palm out and points to the door.
Xiaojun utters a soft âthank youâ and looks over his shoulder to give Karina a small wave as he walks towards the room.
A restaurant attendant opens the door for him. Inside, it slides open, rustling like paper as its bottom grinds against the glistening wooden floor. Producing an exhale, you let your breath get sucked out through the openings of your nostrils and lips.
Behind your forearms, the big tsunami-like waves and tangerine colored koi painted on the door disappear into the wall. You squint your eyes close one last time, sprawling your limbs to stretch, terminating the sleep left in your system.
Your eyes flutter open, catching a man in its path, the figure becomes clearer the wider they open.
âX-Xiaojun.â You quiver in place, saying his name for the first time in eight years. Â
âY-Y/n.â Behind the auburn strands of hair in his face, his gaze meets yours. He timidly waves at you through a nervous smile. âH-hi.â
Was he good looking? Definitely.
Was he a good person? Oh god yes, and your breakup didnât change your opinion on that.
Though not your first relationship, Xiaojun was definitely your first true love. But as some people say, life just happens. Months after your break up, you left for New York for a job opportunity.
It had been a considerable while since you had last seen or heard from him. Nothing aside from the occasional mention in phone calls with Doyoung and appearance in pictures with your other friends.
But here you were, back in Korea, the commandeer of your late night thoughts, seated beside you at the grand opening of Doyoungâs restaurant almost a decade later.
âItâs been a while.â You sheepishly smile.
âIt really has.â Xiaojun agrees, reciprocating the smile. âYou look great.â
âThanks.â You sit up straight. âYou do too.â
Outside, Doyoung continues to hop from table to table, tending to customers.
âHere is your order for extra noodles and a pot of tea.â Doyoung smiles at a woman. âEnjoy your meal maâam.â
âBoss, you told me to inform you of the arrival of someone named Xiao Dejun was it?â Karina calls out for Doyoung, as he carries an emptied tray onto a free tray stand.
âYes.â Doyoung breathily replies. âWhat about it?â
âHe came just a few minutes ago, Iâve been looking for you to tell you.â She says with heavy and speedy breaths, resting her palms on her knees.
Doyoungâs eyes widen. âWhich private room did you tell him to go to?â
âThe first one to my right.â
âNo-n-no oh no.â Doyoung strings his fingers into his hair.
âWhatâs the matter?â
âI needed you to tell me because I wanted to ask you to make sure they wouldnât end up in the same room.â He rambles, vigorously rubbing his temples.
âWhy?â Karina blankly questions. âIs there anything between them?â
âXiaojun is his ex from 8 years ago.â
âOh no.â She bows her head, covering her face with both of her palms. âDid it end badly or something?â
âYou really ask a lot of questions donât you.â Doyoung snickers. âWell, not exactly.â
âThey broke up on good terms actually, the only problem was that it was so obvious that they still loved each other.â He says, sighs ballooning out of his lips.
âWait,â Karina interrupts. âAnd yet, they hadnât gotten back together since then?â
âY/n left for New York before they could say anything to each other.â
âDonât worry, itâs not like you knew.â Doyoung sees Karina frown and pats her head. âI just hope they can at least talk.â
And that you did.
Alcohol clouds your minds as you sit beside each other splitting sides at exchanged stories. The sting of the drinks fry the back of your throats and hiccups intermittently shoot up from you, cutting your sentences.
"Itâs 12:30 A.M.'' You wheeze, making glances around the pretty much empty room.
"No way." Xiaojun spits out raspily, taking another sip of his cocktail, peering forward to get a glimpse of the watch on your wrist.
âSpeaking of which, remember that time, about 11 years ago.â You playfully nudge his shoulder. âIt was around this time when we went to get groceries and you attacked someone over a cut of steak.â
âI did not!â Xiaojun manages to speak up amidst the laughter drowning out proper communication from you two.
âXiaojun, you pushed her so hard that she fell.â Your hand flops onto Xiaojunâs shoulder to prevent yourself from rolling over, letting out a prominent wheeze.
âShe pushed me first!â He sternly objects. âPlus, if I didnât, we wouldnât have had those amazing fajitas.â
âThat was a good early morning snack.â You agree.
âA good date too.â Xiaojun smiles back at you.
âOur first actually.â You add, looking down as a smile creeps into your lips. âThat was such a long time ago.â
Which it was.
âTime just flies so fast doesnât it?â Xiaojun replies as his palm slides up your fingers before settling on the knuckles at the back of your hand.
A rosy flush burns on your cheeks and your eyes go from your linked fingers and eventually trail up to him. You two momentarily lock eyes. He promptly jerks his away, withdrawing his hand from yours.
âS-so, wait, a-are you back here for good?â Xiaojun says.
âI guess so, things are getting pretty crazy over there.â You shrug, shooting him a crooked smile. âAnd the foodâs too greasy, canât eat any of it.â
âThatâs good.â Xiaojun chuckles weakly. âYou always hated greasy foods.â
âIâve missed you.â You look into his eyes again and gently stroke his shoulder before going down to his arm and producing a sharp exhale. âA lot.â
âI-I have too.â He stutters, shivering slightly, his posture stiff under your touch.
âYou know, every time I think about it,â You look down, and fiddle with your fingers. âI wondered why you never tried chasing me down the airport the day I left.â
âY-Y/n.â
Deep down, part of me was actually hoping that youâd come after me and convince me to stay.
âSo many times, Iâve wanted to fly out there to just try and pick up where we left off andââ He rambles, gritting his teeth and clenching his fists on his sides.
âWhat stopped you then?â You mumble. A frown stemming from your lips.
âI-I donât know.â He voices out softly, with a furrowed expression.
âI do like someone Xiaojun.â You sigh.
âI figured.â Xiaojun stands up from the seat, slipping his shoes on and making his way out of the room.
âTheyâd be lucky to have you.â Xiaojun chokes on his words, his sentence growing weak.
âIt was nice meeting you again.â His voice echoes into the empty room, his words ricocheting off of the walls and the soy sauce stained bowls before coming back to you.
You frantically jump up from the recessed floor. As his fingers cling onto the doorâs handle, you grip him by his shoulders as he slides it open. âI never said it wasnât you.â You call out to him, stopping him in his tracks.
Xiaojun turns his head, looking over his shoulder, slivers of tears in his eyes twinkling against the lights.
âSo tell me then,â You whisper huskily, staring back into Xiaojunâs eyes. âWhere were we?â
Tonight felt familiar.
The laughs, the fond glances, the touching. Being able to talk to each other and having good laughs while doing so. Being able to hit it off just like you had 11 years ago when Doyoung introduced you two to each other.
Being with Xiaojun just felt right even after a decade.
Enough was enough, you thought.
You dash towards Xiaojun, gripping the sides of his neck with both hands, pulling him closer to you. The tip of your thumbs slide over the tears sitting at the sides of his irises. Your eyes mirror his lidded gaze before wandering to the lips that youâve longed for the past eight years.
Before your mind could even begin to process, your lips were on Xiaojunâs. Your eyes shut close as his palms land on your chest and slide up to tug at your shoulders.
You push him back against a wall, bruising the tips of some fingers between it and the back of his head. It dips to the side, as you press your face even deeper into his.
Slowly opening your eyes, your puckered lips hover over Xiaojunâs as you gasp for air. You tenderly stare into each otherâs eyes for a second, bringing a hand away from the side of his neck to brush strands of hair away from his glittering eyes.
Soft moans escape from between your adhered lips as you reconnect them, further muffled by the contact of your tongues. Xiaojunâs forearms cross over your nape as you burrow your lips down to his neck. He lets out a breathy gasp that tickles your ears as his chin falls onto your shoulder as his mouth goes agape.
You bring your arms up as Xiaojun hastily pulls your sweater over your head and catapults it over the table of food. Your fingers scramble for the collar of his shirt as he undoes the top buttons of yours.
âGood work today, Iâll just make one last check around the place and Iâll get going.â Doyoung says, wiping sweat off of his forehead as he sprawls onto a couch in the waiting area. âSee you tomorrow.â
âThanks boss! Bye!â Karina waves as she exits the restaurant.
Doyoung walks over to the reception desk to see a patch of light coming from the opened door to the private room you were in.
âIs he not done eating?â Doyoung raises a brow, looking at his watch. âWas my food that good?â
âHey Y/n, weâre closed for tonight, letâs go get someââ Doyoungâs eyes widen upon peeping through the opened door. ââcoffee.â He continues his sentence weakly.
In a pushup position over Xiaojun, your hands are on either side of his neck, head buried under his chin, disheveled hair laying over his chest like a puddle. His fingers digging into the wrinkled back of your shirt as his knees wrap around your hips.
âYou littleââ Doyoung croaks amidst the pants, moans and heavy breathing. His eyebrows dipped as the lids of his twitching eyes vigorously vibrate.Â
âTh-that wasnât on the menu!â He softly yells. But ease seems to wash over him however, his agitated expression quickly morphs into one of relief. His mind wanders to the memory of the last time walked in on you two in the compromising position you were in.
Though not a pleasant sight to see, a second time at that, it does offer him the same kind of closure that it did for you. He didn't exactly like the thought of you two doing what you were doing, more so in his restaurantâs VIP room, but heâs happy for you. All those years of pent up regret and brooding, finally over.
Breathing a sigh of relief, he walks the other direction, pulling out a chair and taking a seat at one of the tables in the dining area.
âYouâre still not getting that discount.â Doyoung closes his eyes and breathily mumbles.
âAnd youâre paying for coffee.â He grunts, glaring at the door. One thing he knew for sure was that you two were going to one really expensive cafĂ©.

GF - The Sapling of His Labors
A Drifting Stars AU one-shot, in collaboration with @clownwry.
1st, 2nd, 4th.
~~~~~~~~~~
Ford hummed an old tune to himself as he worked on dinner. Rather than sitting in front of a fire-pit in the middle of nature, butchering food to make it edible, he was blessed to be standing in a humble kitchen with a stove, cabinets, counters, and everything. The only thing he didnât have was a fridge or freezer, but that was okay. Ford worked calmly and at his own pace as he chopped up the onion, blinking the burning feeling away, and he used his knife to scoop the diced pieces of onion into the hot skillet, and it sizzled and immediately smelled good.
Ford smiled as he added the green bell pepper, and other delicious things from the garden, and then he gave the veggies and herbs a stir with his hand-carved wooden spoon. Estimating that dinner would be ready soon, he walked across the kitchen, through the living room with a fireplace, two rocking chairs, and a large homemade three-way desk with two chairs, and to the front door.Â
The top half of the dutch door was already open, so he leaned against the bottom half of the door to watch his little girl run around with other kids her age, playing tag. âMabel, honey, dinner!â He called. âWill you please bring some water when you come?â
âOkay!â Mabel called back cheerfully, and Ford trusted her to end the game soon and say goodnight to her friends as he went back to dinner.
The veggies were cooking well, so Ford threw some of Mabelâs special homemade butter into another pan, let it melt, and then he carefully laid two filleted fish down to cook.
The bottom half of the dutch door opened and Mabel came in with a bucket of water from their well. She grinned at the sight of him and sat the bucket down to use a ladle to pour some water into wooden cups. âMs. Mahogany asked about you again.â
âOh?â Ford raised an eyebrow at her, his smile still present.
âYeah, I told her how just last night you told me you were lonely and only wanted someone to hold at nightâŠâ
Ford barked a laugh that Mabel joined in with, but she continued as she set the table. âThen she said her son is still single ifâŠâ
âMabel, please!â Ford guffawed with rosy cheeks as he flipped the fish. âI wish you would stop trying to set me up with everyone in town.â
âBut Iâm a great matchmaker!â
âI know you are. Why not focus on someone elseâs love-life?â Ford suggested as he began to plate the veggies.
âI donât really care about everyone elseâs love-life.â Mabel said with a shrug as she sat.
Ford snorted as he platted the fish on top of the veggies, one plate slightly smaller than the other.
âWell, not nearly as much as I care about you.â Mabel elaborated, and smiled sweetly at her uncle as he turned to set the food at the table. âI just want you to be happy, Grunkle Ford.â
The old man was a bit surprised by this, but he smiled softly and said, âI am happy, darling.â He sat the plates and himself down where they belonged, then patted his lap. âCome here.â
The girl didnât hesitate to crawl into his lap and let him hug her. âIâve got you.â
âYeah, but imagine how much happier youâd be if you had me and a partner!â Mabel said optimistically.
Ford chuckled and brushed her shoulder-length hair with his six fingers. âSweetie, Iâm much happier now than I ever thought I would be.â
Mabel grinned at him and hugged him around the neck, allowing Ford to squeeze her gently and hug her back.
A little while later they sat by the fireplace, Ford in his rocking chair, and Mabel by his socked feet, propping her back against his leg as she knitted away. Ford used to tease her and wonder why he even built her a rocking chair, but once she explained she felt more comfortable against him, he let it go. Maybe next time they go to the store, he should trade fish for fabric so he can build a couch.
The eldest read a book out-loud while Mabel knitted, their favorite thing to do in the evening, when all they had for light was the fireplace and lanterns and the stars, but there were no stars tonight. Rain peacefully trickled down outside. They left the dutch door open to enjoy the smells and sounds and cool air, not a hint of a storm in sight.
Ford was enjoying the book, but not nearly as much as he enjoyed looking down at his beautiful girl. The sounds of her needles clicking as she worked, the way her brown eyes twinkled, the blush on her round cheeks, the shine in her hair. Ford had no idea what in the Multiverse he did to deserve her⊠No, he didnât deserve her, but he was still grateful for her, and beyond happy he somehow managed to give her a happy life.
~~~~~~~~~~
Ford was very excited, too excited to let his little girl sleep in too much. True that he purposely got up early to get the eggs, milk the cow, and let the sheep out for her, but he decided to surprise her earlier rather than later, so he made her some pancakes and eggs, squeezed her some fresh orange juice, put a pretty flower on the tray for decoration, and tucked the present wrapped in parchment and card under his arm.
A soft knock alerted Mabel of company, and her door opening and a warm voice fully woke her up. âMabel, honey,â
She grinned and sat up in her bed. Ford had no regrets. All his hard work was worth it for that smile. âHappy Birthday.â
Mabel was absolutely delighted by the sweet surprise, but a bit disheartened when she saw no plate for her uncle. She raised an eyebrow suspiciously at him, still too used to his bad habit of skipping meals so she could eat. Well, he didnât have to do that anymore. âGrunkle Ford, whereâs your breakfast?â
Ford smiled and chuckled. âDonât worry, itâs all fixed and downstairs waiting for me.â
Mabel smiled again and said, âWhy donât you eat up here with me? Then Iâll open my present!â
Ford nodded. That seemed like an even better idea than eating separately. So Ford retrieved his mug of coffee and pancakes, and when he sat at the foot of Mabelâs bed, she opened the card. There was no glitter to decorate it with and the card wasnât nearly as colorful as Mabel would have made it, but Ford still drew plenty of pretty pictures for her and wrote plenty of kind words, and more importantly, he made it just for her.
Mabel grinned and thanked him for the card, sitting by her nightstand and candle so she could see it every day, and then she tore into her present. She gasped happily and squealed at the gift. Mabel had seen Ford sew here and there, but she didnât know this was what he was working on.
It was a large quilt. It had many different patches, some with colors, some with pictures of animals, one with a shooting star and one with a six-fingered hand. There were so many different patches that Mabel felt she could look and look without seeing every detail.
Ford rubbed the back of his neck nervously. âI asked everyone in town if they had scraps of cloth. I wasnât sure what to get you, but you deserve something nice, andâŠâ
âGrunkle Ford, I love it!â And Mabel let her new quilt fall on her lap so she could hug him tightly around the waist. âThank you, thank you, thank you! Iâll use it forever! I love you, thank you!â
Ford chuckled and hugged her back tightly. âY-Youâre welcome.â
It wasnât much, but it was better than what he could have done for her before.
~~~~~~~~~~
Ford ran as fast as he could. He didnât care how sharply branches pricked his face or how many times he stubbed his toe on a rock or tree root. The screaming rang in his ears. Mabel needed him.
He was grateful to find Mabel up in a tree, safe, but not for long. At the base of the tree was a giant black bear, roaring and growling and scratching the tree. It wouldnât be long until the bear decided to try to climb. Ford gritted his teeth and allowed instincts to take over, animal vs animal.
Ford threw a rock and it hit the bear on the neck, making it forget the human cub in the tree and turn to the adult to roar warningly. Then Ford shot his crossbow and it hit the bear right in the shoulder, close to the chest, but not quite enough to kill it, only to anger it. Mabel screamed for Ford to run away, to get away, but Ford stood his ground as the bear charged at him and he rolled out of the way just in time, then shot the bear again, this time hitting itâs back.
The bear turned and roared at Ford, and he was prepared to pull the knife out of his boot and do some real damage, tired of giving warnings that the bear wasnât hearring. But then something made everyone freeze. A small wheezing roar. A squeak from a cub. The little baby black bear ran out from the bushes and to its mother, who nuzzled the cub with her nose and stood protectively. Ford lowered his crossbow and nodded. Mabel must have accidentally stumbled across the cub, must have gotten too close, and the mother was being overprotective.
The mother roared once more at the humans and ran off into the woods with her cub, taking the arrows lodge in her with her. Well, good. Thatâs what she gets for going near Fordâs niece. Speaking ofâŠ
Ford turned to the tree and looked up at the frightened girl. âMabel, are you hurt?â
âN-No. Iâm okay.â Mabel looked at the spot where the bears disappeared and bit her lip. âI⊠I didnât even see the baby oneâŠâ
Ford smiled and nodded. âItâs alright. Youâll find parents are quite protective of their kids. Can you climb down?â
Mabel nodded and carefully made her way down the tree. When she was about halfway down, she leaped into Fordâs arms and they hugged each other tightly, the crossbow still in Fordâs hand.
âOh, Mabel, I was so worriedâŠâ
âIâm sorry, Iâm really sorryâŠâ
âShh, hey, itâs alright. Iâm not mad.â
âI thought you⊠I thoughtâŠâ Mabel mumbled into his shoulder, her grip on his coat extremely tight.
âHey, hey, itâs alright. Iâve got you.â Ford muttered to her as he walked them home. âIâve got you.â
~~~~~~~~~~
Ford walked home from the ocean, smiling with the large net filled with fish on his back. Mabel was with the sheep, as usual, and smiled and waved when she saw his safe return. The leaves were changing colors and the air was getting more comfortable and crisp. Soon winter would be with them, and rather than fish for money, Ford planned to build music boxes and carve toys, a brilliant idea Mabel had when she noticed how he missed tinkering and building. He enjoyed fishing, but it wasnât like the old lab work that made him proud.
The next day, like always, Ford walked home and saw Mabel among the sheep, but this time she was chatting with a boy her age. Ford had seen the boy before, Mabel labeling him as a friend, but the old man couldnât help but wonder if he should be putting money away for a small wedding, a thought that made his blood boil and his heart swell at the same time.
~~~~~~~~~~
Ford gave the soup another stir before ladling it into a bowl. Poor Mabel sat on the newly built couch, wrapped in her quilt, close to the fire, her cheeks and nose cherry red and dark circles under her eyes as she sneezed and coughed. Ford wasnât as worried for her as he normally would be; it was just a bad cold. She would be alright.Â
Weirdly enough, Mabelâs brain had decided to call it quits and she was nothing more than a rag doll, barely interactive and aware of her surroundings, which was fine by Ford. He could take care of her and the house just fine. He smiled softly and sat next to her, holding out a spoonful of warm soup for her. âHere you are, my dear. This will make you feel better.â
Shakily Mabel ate the bite she was given, but it burned and made her cough roughly. Ford rubbed her back and stirred the soup to cool it down a little. âThat's it, easy does it. There we go, Iâm sorry, sweetie.â
The second time was the charm; Mabel was able to swallow a second spoonful of warm soup no problem. She actually made a weak smile, then muttered to Ford, âThanks Daddy,â and coughed roughly into her quilt. She patiently waited for her next spoonful, unaware of what she had done to Ford.
She had said it so innocently, so quietly⊠Was it possible, that in her weakened state, Mabel thought she was back home with her father? Even though she seemed out of it, she did seem aware of where they were; a few minutes ago, when Ford was making the soup, she had asked if the sheep were put away. And she had thanked Ford for making the soup when he first started on dinner. So, maybe, there was a small possibility that Mabel knew exactly who she was talking to, and she articulated with a title that felt fitting to her.
Ford smiled with a bit lip and held out the spoon filled with soup for her. âY-Youâre welcome.â
He smiled sympathetically as she sniffed again, her poor sinuses turned against her. But then she sniffed again, louder, and Ford began to notice it sounded differentâŠ
He also began to notice he was sore. And lying down. And wrapped up, like he was tucked in for bed.
Ford was pulled from his dreams and was sluggishly half-awake, his eyes still closed, and he bought his body some time to gather some strength by paying attention to his blind surroundings.
He could hear and feel a fire going. He was lying in a sleeping bag on the ground, and he could tell there were other things keeping him warm and wrapped up. Some damp cloth was on his forehead. And he could hear crying.
Ford forced his eyes open slowly and he discovered someone had taken his glasses off. He forced himself to work with his blurry vision and he sat up a little, leaning on his arm for support in search of his niece. She sat a few feet away, in a tight bundle. If Ford had to guess, she was hugging her knees and hiding her face in her arms and knees. âMabelâŠâ
She lifted her head up quickly, but then hid her face again, looking away from him and wiping her face dry with the sleeves of her coat.Â
âHey, no,â Ford said softly, taking the damp cloth off his forehead. âNone of that, you donât ever have to hide anything from me. Whatâs wrong? Are you hurt?â
âN-No,â Mabel cleared her throat and finally turned to look at him; he was a little disheartened to see her trying to smile and still hide what was bothering her. âIâm okay. H-How do you feel? Tea is almost ready.â And she scooted closer to the fire on her knees to check on the teapot.
Ford sighed tiredly, his lips tight to try to keep her from hearing it. âMabelâŠâ
âOh, here!â Mabel reached into a pocket of her uncleâs backpack and pulled out his glasses for him. âI thought Iâd better take them off you so your face wouldnât hurt.â
Ford smiled and accepted the visual aid. âAh, thank you.â He slipped his glasses on and more clues came to his senses.
They were in the middle of the desert. Well, not entirely in the middle, it looked like there was a jungle a few yards behind them. Ford had also been blanketed with sweaters for extra warmth in the cold desert night. Everything seemed well in order and normal, except when Ford looked at his poor little girl. Her hair was a mess, frizzled and⊠Ford recognized that hairstyle. His hair often looked like that after he grabbed at it too roughly and tried to pull his hair out. There were dark circles under her eyes, eyes that didnât sparkle. That legitimately scared Ford.
âMabelâŠâ
âGood! Tea is ready.â Mabel turned away from him again, refusing to look at him as she pulled out a cup for her uncle and poured him some hot drink. âHere, itâll make you feel better.â
Ford accepted the drink and sat up fully. âThank you.â He sipped it and watched Mabel carefully. She didnât pour herself a cup. Or bring out the water canteen for something else to drink. Instead she held her knees and watched the fire dance. He opened his mouth to ask her if she was alright, but she beat him to it.
âHow are you feeling? Does anything hurt? H-Howâs your neck?â
âMy neck?â Ford touched his throat, a bit confused, and answered, âI feel fine. Nothing hurts. Why?â
âWe were ambushed. You got shot. You⊠You had a bad fever and wouldnât wake up.â Mabel, still refusing to look at him, held out a dart to him that had been lying on the sand. âHere. I thought you might wanna study it.â
Ford adjusted his glasses and held the dart. It was quite long, but very skinny, and it had a red bull point at the top, like a sewing needle, but Ford recognized the dart. âInteresting. These are Hummie darts. Theyâre sold through the dimensions, theyâre very useful for bounty hunting. See, the top here is filled with poison, just enough to render the body useless and to also hypnotize the target in a deep, dream-filled sleep. Oftentimes the dreams are the victimâs happiest memories or goals, so they wonât try to wake up. Itâs also very fascinating because the side-effects are next to none, this makes these darts ideal if you want to bring someone in for questioning or for next-to-perfect condition.â
But Mabel wasnât listening. Her eyes were still on the fire, she was still holding her knees, but her mind was elsewhere. Ford watched her mournfully and tried to remember what had happened.
Oh. Right.
They were in a different dimension than this one. They had been laughing and playing in the woods, unaware of who they were attracting. By the time Ford hoisted a laughing girl on his shoulders, a dart barely missed him and it hit a tree, causing him to run while Mabel shot pop-rocks with her slingshot. Ford can now remember feeling a tiny prick by his neck. He had hoped Mabel had accidentally pinched or pulled some skin on his neck, but she was horrified to have let a dart get past her. Ford managed to stop running and put Mabel down safely, shaking his head and even slapping himself to try to stay awake and attentive, but just as he was sharing a plan with her, he fell on his knees and collapsed into the grass, the last thing he heard was Mabelâs desperate please to be okay. Not to stay awake, not to help, but to be okay.
Ford put the dart and his tea down on the ground. âOh, Mabel⊠You were amazing. Absolutely amazing! You saved us. You saved my life.â
âM-Maybe if I hadnât asked you to play with meâŠâ
âThey were relentless. Iâm glad we had fun and played.â
Mabel held herself tighter and turned her head away so it was out of sight. That broke Fordâs heart. What he wouldnât give for her to just look at him. Had he done something? Had he scared her? He had heard that while under the influence of the Hammie darts, the body is as useless as a ragdoll, but⊠Oh. Maybe that had scared her. Mabel had no way of knowing what the darts did, she had no idea what kind of poison they were filled with. Did she refuse to look at Ford because when she did all she saw was the shadow of a dead man?
âMabel,â Ford croaked longingly, and he opened his arms. âPlease come here.â
Mabel was trembling. She sniffed again and swallowed a sob down.
She was a Pines, after all. She was going to be stubborn. So Ford scooted himself and the sleeping bag and pile of sweaters. He carefully began to scoop her up, but she finally broke and turned and hugged him around the neck, sobbing into his shoulder and allowing him to hold her close and burrow her in his arms and sweaters and sleeping bag.
âShh, shh, itâs alright now.â Ford petted her hair and closed his eyes, giving everything he had into making her feel better. âIâm okay, I swear. You did an incredible job.â
âI thought⊠I thoughtâŠâ Mabel croaked and swallowed to try to communicate better. âY-Your eyes⊠they rolled! Into⊠y-y-you looked dâŠâ And she choked and sobbed and held him so tightly her fingers ached, but she didnât care.
Now Ford had never heard of that side-effect before. âOh, Mabel, honeyâŠâ
âI k-k-know youâre okay now⊠I know⊠but I th-th-thought I was g-gonna lose you!â Mabel cried out, her throat sounding like it was going to tear in half.Â
âIâm sorryâŠâ Ford cooed to her and adjusted her so she laid by his heart and he felt her hands. Holy Moses, she was so cold. âIâm so sorry. Iâm not going anywhere, I promise. I love my little starshine too much to be anywhere else.â
Mable hiccuped a weak giggle and she nuzzled her cheek against his chest. âI love you, too, D-Grunkle Ford.â
Yup. Ford wasnât shedding tears alongside her. No. A raindrop must have fallen on his cheek. On a cloudless night. Yeah, that was it.
Who Are You Talking To | C.E
Summary: Reader is fed up with Chris not spending time with her on her week-long break.
Pairing: Chris Evans x Black!Reader
Word Count: 1.8k
Warning(s): None!
A/N: I accidentally shared this through my personal account! I apologize for any confusion if I tagged you the first time!
Chris was ecstatic when I informed him of the dates for my Fall Break.
He planned out everything we would do together. From planting a blanket in the middle of a park for a lovely picnic to strolling through farms for a pumpkin to carve and sit on our porch. He did all of that.
Yet heâs one strike away from me slapping the shit out of him. Heâs been blowing me off every second and Iâm due to return for work in two days. We hadnât done any of what he promised we would accomplish together weeks ago. Instead, he handled work business downstairs for the first part of the day and followed that up with indulging in his own hobbies. I wasnât a part of any of it.
To add on to it, his Zoom sessions werenât successful and that prompted him to radiate negativity. Dinner time consisted of him giving me short answers or grunts and through it all, I remained optimistic. I figured being positive and not calling him out on his behavior right then would flip a switch in him to acknowledge how he was acting towards me but nothing happened.
My feet connected with the cold wooden flooring, goosebumps rising on the parts of my body that were exposed because of the tank top and pajama shorts I wore. The clock read 11:54 p.m. Iâm praying Chris let Dodger out for the last time this evening.
The volume of the television in the living room increased the closer I dragged my feet to where I presumed he would be resting. Turning the corner, Dodger was the first one I spotted as he slept soundly on his stuffed animal right by the entrance to the room. Chris, on the other hand, watched CNN on blast as if he was an old man struggling to hear; his arms were folded across his chest while he laid on his side and blankly stared at the bright screen.
I rolled my eyes at the absurdity of my week spent at home. âChris.â I called in a firm voice that was loud enough for Dodger to only blink his eyes open and instantly travel back to Dreamland.
My boyfriend only shifted his gaze to look at me. âHm?â
âDid you let Dodge out one last time?â
âMm-mm.â
Breathe Y/N, breathe. I let out a soft sigh as I bent down to gently shake the canine awake. âDodger, honey. Letâs go outside.â I knew from Chrisâ response he wouldnât be letting our dog out anytime soon. The man would probably drag himself down the hall to bed as the sun rose for a new day.
Dodger simply obeyed my soft command by standing and putting on a show of dramatically stretching. As we made our way towards the back door right behind my miserable boyfriend, I made sure to cut my brown eyes at his lounging figure and hoped he could feel my glare.
Once again, my skin tingled as the cool night air caressed my legs and arms. To keep myself warm, I folded my limbs across my chest, rocking on the balls of my feet. My eyes managed to follow Dodgerâs sniffing silhouette in the darkness but as soon as he began the squat for a number two, I looked away.
By now, Chris had shut off the loud tv. Finally.
âI thought you said we would be hanging out for my Fall Break?â I questioned with my back facing him as I kept my eyes on the dog.
âWhat?â
âI thought you wanted to hang out with me for my break. Week-long, might I add.â
âWe are.â
âNo weâre not, Chris. And you know it.â I sighed as I moved to slide the door closed but ceased my movement to leave an opening for Dodger in case he finished early. With my hands on my hips, I rotated around to stare down Chris. âYouâve spent every single day downstairs taking care of business with A Starting Point and work, which I have no problem with. Itâs what you do afterwards that bothers me. Barely talking to me or not at all and then you sit down here to do whatever. I was trying to be positive and give you your space but nowââ
âBut now your little feelings are hurt, right?â he snapped. âYouâre hurt because I canât devote 100% of my attention to you on your little break? News flash: everything isnât about you, Y/N. So, stop your whining and actually think about what Iâm going through.â
This wouldâve shattered a younger version of myself. But after years of reflection, I realized I was always given the opportunity to fight back instead of wallowing in my tears.
First, I glanced to my left. Then to my right. No sign of life. I grimaced at my boyfriend. âYou must not be talking to me.â I indicated with a point towards my chest. âYou must be talking to this goddamn wall.â I sassed, jabbing my thumb to the wall behind me.
Suddenly, for the first time in the year Chris and I have been together, his eyes were size of saucers as it dawned on him what heâd done. And how I responded.
Tonight, was his first time taking his anger out on me. Yes, weâve had our arguments, but those moments were different. This happened to be the time where the world was against Chris and rather than rely on me to comfort him (as I usually would), he was victimizing himself. He probably expected my body to rack with sobs at the harshness of his words, but I was through with that shit tonight.
âSince you wanna pull a Karen on me, your ass can sleep on the couch tonight.â I punished him. In that moment, I felt the softness brushing against my legs. Dodger was finally in. I pulled the door closed all the way this time and locked it. âCome on Dodger, your dad is being an asshat. You can sleep with me.â
Chris was frozen in his spot as the both of us moved past him. I made sure to give him a little bump on the way with my shoulder.
While waiting for Dodger to grasp his animal in his mouth, I observed him throw Chris a quick glance as if telling him that he fucked up. Funnily enough, our dog was the first to exit the scene and hold his head high as he trekked to the bedroom.
âIâm locking that fucking door tonight. Donât even try it. You made your bed, now lay in it.â I dictated.
~*~
Surprisingly, I slept like a baby. Maybe itâs because I finally said something to Chris about his behavior lately. The previous nights, he would slumber away while I laid awake wondering if we would even spend time together before I headed back to work. Calling him out felt right.
I took care of my morning routine before unlocking the bedroom door and calling for Dodger to wake up. What I didnât expect on the other side was the tray we roll out for sick days to be standing in front of the door.
Dodger was planning on being difficult as he hadnât moved from his spot. This gave me ample time to study the tray with a covered meal placed on top and a horizontally folded card with my name scribbled on it.
âYou were right last night. I have been distant throughout your break and Iâm sorry for ruining the plans I promised. Itâs a short amount of time left with you but weâre going to get started early. Eat the breakfast I made for you and then freshen up by putting on your favorite dress. Meet me at the car by 11.â
I chuckled at the message but decided to follow his set of instructions, nonetheless.
~*~
As promised, Chris drove us to the pumpkin patch further away from where we lived for more privacy and intimate time together. We spent the whole ride discussing last nightâs events and catching up on the conversations we were meant to have throughout my week in our house. When he parked the car, he suggested we snap as many couple selfies but made sure to emphasize the idea of him taking pictures of me.
âTheyâre for my phone.â He lied through his teeth as I raised a brow at his idea.
The truth: Chris yearned to share pictures of me on his Instagram. At least half of his feed consisted of me, Dodger, or nature and rarely ever himself. I worried he would lose followers for never updating them on how he was doing but he dismissed my worries with a kiss to my forehead and a, âItâll be fine, who cares?â
For a while, we explored the farm with our hands linked and eyes moving about at the pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. It wasnât until weâd reach the halfway point did I realize we didnât have an exact clue as to which type of pumpkin we were searching for.
âI was thinking one of those big, tall pumpkins.â Chris answered after I asked him what our goal was.
âThe ones that look like an orange squash?â
âYeah.â
âWhyâŠ?â
âI donât know, Iâve always wanted one.â He shrugged. His face held a gentle look of content.
âWell, if a squash-lookinâ pumpkin is what my big baby wants, then a squash-lookinâ pumpkin is what he shall get.â
Chris released my hand to wrap it around my waist and pull me closer to him. I felt my cheeks heat up as he placed a kiss to the crown of my head. After all this time together, he still managed to have me acting like a schoolgirl that somehow caught the attention of her longtime crush.
âThank you baby.â He answered. âI know I already said this twice; through the note and in the car. But, Iâm truly sorry for how I acted last night and the days before that. I was stupid in bottling everything up and not confiding in you like I normally do. Doesnât justify any of what I said last night but I figured you had a lot on your plate and didnât want to bother you with my own.â
I paused my walking to glance up at him with what I hoped was love in my eyes. âChris, you could never bother me. As a couple, we talk to each other. Even if weâve got problems of our own at the same time? I want you to come to me and I come to you so we can figure things out.â I stood on my toes to press a kiss to the underside of his jaw due to his towering figure. âI love you and accept your apology.
âI love you too.â
âYou better. Because my ass wouldnât be helping you find that ugly pumpkin to make you happy.â
âHey!â he pouted before I shut him up with a kiss.
Nail Tech Talk : Top Tips For Setting Up In An Unconventional Space
Setting up can be a little daunting when you first start out, but it doesnât take long to start building your collection & creating a space that you're happy with. When I started to set up my treatment room, I began by creating a mood board to figure out the aesthetics & practicality of the room. I love to use Pinterest to get my visual ideas out and have mood boards for things like Storage Ideas, Pedicure Set Up and design inspo.
Once youâve figured out the style you're after you can start to figure out how to make it come to life. Everything takes time and youâll find sometimes itâs not until youâve actively worked in a space that you can truly see what you need to change & adjust to make the space really work best for you. It's a work in progress that grows with you as you develop new skills. Don't feel that everything has to be done at once.
My Treatment Room aesthetic is kitsch, plant adorned & bright. I try to keep things fun, but tidy and cozy for clients. Iâm not a "normal salon space", but thatâs one of the reasons my clients like to come to me. I donât try to make the room do something it canât do, I just work with what I can.
Storage
Storage is really important, especially as it can actually save you time if you keep yourself well organized. I really love easy access storage so that I can grab things quickly and not waste time looking around for products.
Nail Polish/ Gel Polish StorageÂ
I originally started out with both the long and short Ikea Alex drawers. These are great if you are just starting out and don't have too much product as they provide a lot of storage space, but if you are like me and tend to have a lot of product (I do makeup as well as nails), Iâd recommend going for better quality drawers with more side supports than Ikea. My Alex drawers lasted about 3 years before I had to replace them with a similar Tallboy Style Drawer which I found on sale at La Redoute. My advice would be to spend a little extra on furniture if you can so that you don't have to replace it in future.
Ikea Picture Shelves are also a great way to display polish/gel colours on your walls, but they will need dusting regularly which is why I prefer to use the tallboy style drawers. I tend to use the Picture Shelves to create a "gallery wall" where I display framed art and photos, but these would be great for displaying certifications and awards as well.
Glitter/Diamonte/Dried Flower Storage
I invested some time decanting all my glitters, diamantés and dried nail art flowers into clear acrylic lidded jars which sit in clear boxes (labelled on the bottom) so I can showcase colours more easily to clients rather than rummaging through boxes. Clear Acrylic storage is great as you can see when things are running low and need topping up. I tend to separate these into colour sections keeping like colours together. Ebay, Amazon, Hobby Craft & Muji are great for finding these kind of clear acrylic storage solutions.
Wire Storage
I keep wires under control with a wire tidy box also from Ikea to reduce tripping hazards and keep the room looking tidy. As I do a lot of filming in the room, I do have quite a few different wires for various things, anything that doesn't fit into the Ikea Wire Tidy, when not in use, gets stored in Ikea Rattan/Wicker Storage Boxes and slotted away in my Ikea Kallax. I label the different plugs with a Dymo Label Machine so I don't get things confused.Â
How To Display Your Nail Art Professionally
I love nail art and have a lot of nail tips left over from content creating and old Pop Up Nail Bar menus. I was looking for a way to showcase these to clients and discovered a really cool Nail Art Display Box on Ebay which looks very professional. You can change the display every season or theme each clear pull out frame to your liking. With so many ideas and options available this is a great way to break it down visually for customers. Here is a break down on how to start yours (links to where to find it are in the description box) :
https://youtu.be/F5Yzousncqg
Pedicure Set Up
I recently started offering pedicures again and needed to create a cozy pedicure space that could easily be put away when not in use.  As I donât have laminate flooring, I had a custom size floor matte made to protect my rug and carpet area from splashes and mess  by https://www.floormats.co.uk . When not in use, this slots away under a sofa and easily pulls out when I need it again. It's also easy to wipe down and keep disinfected.
Instead of using a storage trolly to display Pedicure Products (as my room is carpeted which wouldnât be practical), I keep my bottles and sprays on trays on top of a wooden stool. I have 2 different trays which I alternate with the two systems I use, Footlogix & Famous Names Releaf. * Nail techs use my discount code TABBY10 for 10% off these brands and more on the Louella Belle site.
I purchased  my concrete pink/white tray to display my Footlogix products from Etsy Seller JustSoDesignbyRachel (https://etsy.me/37c1csl ) who had to adapt when first lockdown hit & set up a shop selling hand made beautiful concrete items. Where I can, I love to shop with and support smaller businesses & fellow nail artists.
To display my Famous Names Releaf I went for a more rustic looking tray from Dunelm which suits the natural ethos of the system : https://www.dunelm.com/product/wooden-tray-craftland-1000167605?defaultSkuId=30696657
For a leg rest/foot rest, I use a foldable stool from Amazon with customised vinyl material that can be disinfected. I found out about the stool from a fellow nail tech on the Footlogix Facebook Group ! The vinyl I reupholstered the stool with came from Etsy Shop HomeTexStudio (https://etsy.me/2JJlRsb). The height is just right for my set up, not for everyone Iâm sure , but for the space I work with itâs perfect. Hereâs a video of the DIY stool transformation :
https://www.instagram.com/tv/CHGFgx6D6EY/?utm_medium=copy_link
I use Belava Pedi Bowls with recyclable disposable liners for my pedicures as I love glitter & they really go with my room's aesthetic! I think customers also feel much better knowing each time they visit they get a fresh pedi liner. The Belava Glitter bowls do come with a disinfectable insert, but I prefer to use the disposables as I feel it reassures customers that my hygiene standards go above and beyond, especially in these times.
I use an IKEA rattan stool to sit on when doing pedicures and my clients sit on a large sofa chair which allows them to really relax and decompress. After each client, I disinfected the soft furnishing with Sursol Fabric Disinfecting Spray as removing all soft furnishings was not an option for me.
Retail Items
As my set up has less surface space than a traditional salon space, I show off the products I retail on my shorter Ikea Alex Drawers & Ikea Kallax shelves. I try to keep displays and clutter to a minimum as every surface gets wiped down and disinfected before/after each client. In keeping with the aesthetics of my room, I display my products in small wooden boxes and clear acrylic shelves.
The Work Table
My work table is the area of my room that gets the most use. I use it as a work space for not just my nail clients, but also to film and create nail tutorials and content. Unlike many techs, my work table is a little wider than usual which is not for everyone, but works well for me. I have the Ikea Nordan Gateleg Table which has 6 storage drawers down the middle and two sides which can fold down. I use the Clear Ikea Skvallra Desk Protector to keep it free of any accidents and spills. To add a little personality to the space I alternate Paperchase Wrapping Paper which I find very fun and colourful under the Desk Protector, these make great backdrops for nail art photos as well. To get the best out of my nail art photos I use the Ikea Tertial Lamp with a Day Light bulb which I find works well as a work lamp and for photography purposes.
I keep my tools tidy with a custom made Jesmonite tray which I had commissioned by a fellow nail tech ( @bylaurajayne_jesmonitedesigns). It matches my room aesthetic and keeps things nice and tidy when I'm working. I tend to sterilize my tools in my Enbio Auto Clave and then place them on my tray ready for use! If you haven't seen her trays do check them out ! They are the perfect size for nail techs as she makes both rectangle long trays and smaller square trays so there is plenty of room for everything. I think displaying nail tools on the work table like this also gives the tools a bit of respect and helps you to look after them, after all they are probably your most used items and I think it's nice to look after them well so it's just fitting to display them proudly and with a bit of care and thought!
I recently purchased a new hand rest from @gb.wrist.rests. This has been a real game changer as it definitely improves the posture for both myself and my clients when working. Previous to this I had been using an Ikea Wooden laptop holder, which worked well for a couple of years, but over time the disinfectant began to wear down the varnish and I felt it was time to invest in something better. It was also great to support another fellow nail tech who started the GB Wrist Rests business up with her partner during lockdown.
Dust Control
To control dust, I have the Zephyros Dust Collection from Tafs. I find this works really well for keeping the space tidy and protecting mine and my clients lungs. I tend to work more with soak off systems and don't currently e-file so this works well for me. I would recommend getting a more powerful Air Purifier for busier salons working more regularly with enhancements.
Sterilisation
In the corner of my room I store my Enbio S Auto Clave which is used to sterilize tools after they have been washed, then disinfected. I store this on an Ikea Alex Cupboard which doubles up as a storage space for all my cleaning products and spare nail files etc. The Auto Claves are not cheap, but one of the best investments in my Treatment Room. I think customers feel more reassured and I certainly feel better using one. Nail techs can use my code TABBY to get money off their purchases at https://www.enbio.com/uk/
My greatest advice for anyone new to the industry or just starting to set up would be take it a bit at a time. We all have to work within budgets and as you gain clients and get busier you will be able to afford to work your way up towards a space that suits you. I spent many years working as a mobile freelancer before building up a client base that comes to me. It's also worth noting that your own health and client health is so important. Consider the comfort of both of you when creating your space - make sure you are looking after skin and lungs. Protect your hands with gloves when you work to avoid over exposure and make sure you  protecting your lungs from dust particles, but most of all have fun creating a space that suits you!
