last year was weird.

weird is a good way; after decades of fighting against myself, struggling with depression and crippling anxiety, I finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel.

it felt like I was back to my old self. it's a journey - i know it is, but getting back into writing and actually finishing a goddamn fic was a huge achievement.

at least for me.

getting back into drawing is amazing and gut-wrenching at the same time.

i used to draw so much as a kid; i was the weird teen reading a shit ton of books and drawing OCs by the light of my bedside lamp.

art school stole a lot of things that made me who I am, and drawing is the big one.

from binders filled in barely a year to not being able to even hold a pen anymore, that's what art school did to me.

i didn't draw for ten years.

each year I wrote in one of my many notebooks: we're gonna be drawing. we're gonna try. we're gonna be self-indulgent and easy on ourselves for once in our life.

i didn't draw.

until now.

because I desperately want to continue this journey. i desperately want to be that kid again, who didn't give a shit about proportions, about lighting, about colors, about being less good than others. I just drew.

so tonight, I just drew.
