#self reblog#this has been coming up in my notes a lot recently#and i have thoughts#well i only have one#Reggie trying to fix his parents’ marriage bc he thinks it’s his fault#it’s his fault that his parents are stuck in this awful marriage#bc he’s heard them say on more than one occasion that they’re staying together for the kids#if it weren’t for him they wouldn’t have to be together#they could’ve been happy. separated.#but they’re not#they’re trapped together for no other reason than the fact that Reggie exists#so of course Reggie overcompensates#Reggie makes himself small and invisible wherever he can#and where he can’t do that#he’ll make himself useful. earning his spot under this roof#and what could be more useful now than playing marriage counsellor?#Reggie’s got it all under control#except he absolutely does not#there’s only so much a 17 year old boy can do#without the qualifications of a real marriage counsellor#without access to resources#without his OWN therapy#and eventually… without time

It’s sad headcanon hours Reggie’s parents being “one fight away from a divorce” is the default status of their marriage, where they threaten divorce all the time but never follow through and Reggie is constantly torn between trying to somehow fix their marriage for them (even though it’s very much not his responsibility) and just handing them the divorce papers himself

Of course, he never ends up getting the chance to do either
