forever mourning how granada holmes never adapted the three garridebs. diabolical. unbelievable, even. 'if you had killed watson you would not have made it out of this room alive' but in brett's frightfully intense and low, biting, hissing voice. the violent, wild stare versus the gentle hand on watson's knee. all of that precarious control getting flung out the window. the humanity of it. gritting my teeth can you fucking imagine.

it’s wild to me that like every modern adaptation of Sherlock Holmes (and by modern I mean “made recently” not “set in modern times”) is like Hell Bent on coming up with a Reason™️ that Watson stays with Holmes and trots around with him on adventures all the time despite the inconvenience and the danger and all, and so it’s like “oh, Watson’s a gambling addict, he loves uncertainty and mystery” or “oh, Watson’s an adrenaline junkie, he gets off on being constantly in danger from criminals” or even like “Watson’s atoning for sins of the past of BEING IN THE WAR by solving crimes with Holmes now” or WHATEVER. And it’s like, girl, maybe he’s just in love! Did you think of that?? Maybe he’s got a crush and it’s making him do stupid things. Maybe he’s just got bad taste and his type is guys who don’t know how to refold newspapers properly but can identify different types of cigar ash by sight, smell, and taste. And wrote a monograph on the subject. Maybe he’s down bad is all. I mean, Keep is simple, stupid!!!

Everytime I go into the Zosopp tag, I just see people SCREAMING CRYING SOBBING about the lack of posts IN the Zosopp tag. THE ZOSOPP ECONOMY IS IN SHAMBLES

anyone else get occasionally assaulted by thoughts of holmes and/or watson dying in sussex? like, maybe one day, when they are both very old, holmes wakes up to watson in his arms and he knows right away. he genuinely believed he would be the first to go. he steps downstairs and lights up a pipe. he stands there for a long time. he writes a few letters and sends them out. he walks around the house, observing everything. then he goes outside to sit near the bees. he listens to their soft humming and passes away in the sunshine.

or, one day, when they are both very old, watson comes back from the village to see holmes asleep in his chair. he knows right away. he genuinely believed he would be the first to go. he sobs and sobs and sobs. he writes letters by candlelight. then he writes more. he writes until he has nothing left to say. then he goes out and sits by the bees, who are all silent. he passes away under the moon.

I'd be remiss if I didn't do Holmes' husband too. So here's a buncha Watson studies featuring him in various stages of his life.

I was trying to figure out how I wanted to draw him. He was a little harder to figure out compared to Holmes, but I adore Hardwicke and Burke's Watsons so he's mostly based off them!

I tried to strike the balance between reservedness vs. vulnerability and I think I've managed to pin him down!

I. I just can’t. I can’t. I cannot. With DR WATSON AND HIS GODDAMN HAND KINK. We all talk about the “long, thin fingers” (as we SHOULD) but recently I’ve started noticing that he does this with other people too. He once described a woman’s hands as “delicate, finely formed” and a man’s as “great and strong” (“great big knotted fist” is also a phrase that I believe appears) and by themselves these aren’t that strange, BUT THEY START TO PILE UP.

Holmes waking people (watson) up at ungodly hours:

Wakes them up while he's already dressed and ready to go practically giggling and kicking his feet; won't take no for an answer; will linger at the foot of their bed and tickle their foot to force them awake.

Meanwhile Holmes when he gets woken up at an ungodly hour:
