Sooo imagine a cumplane au where shen yuan see Airplane in a convention running to do some odd job there and sy is just dumbfounded how almost identical that random is to luo binghe (at least how he imagines him)

Now that random ofc has alot of diferences to how lbh is mostly depicted, first of all the random is fully human so no demon features, the guy instead of being tall and lean with some muscle he is a shorty (he is not short he is 172/5'8 he is avarege) that is kinda chubby and his hair is not abyss black but a shitty dyed brown hair and him being a normal human he has very prominent eye bags and some acne scars but besides those diferences he was basicly identical to how lbh was depicted in his fanarts even having some of his headcannons that ware extremely unpopular on the fandom! (Frackles) he wasn't as scary as the beloved cruel demon emperor but he had hit all the boxes to be the perfect luo binghe in his white lotus era! Nie Huaisang, Lan Xichen, Jin Guangyao, and Nie Mingjue all reincarnate together into PIDW, and become disciples around the same time as Luo Binghe.

The drama of this is of course enhanced by the facts that NMJ & JGY died "early," but NHS & LXC lived to the end of their natural lives as cultivators, and so some of their perspectives and opinions on events have naturally changed with age. (tfw the passage of time renders you unfamiliar to your once-loved ones)

Eventually they talk about their feelings and reconcile and such, and this ends up derailing the plot of PIDW severely as the rest of the PIDW characters confusedly observe quite possibly the weirdest disciples Cang Qiong's ever seen

NMJ on Bai Zhan, with no clue what's going on because he died first and NHS & LXC haven't told him anything

NHS on An Ding, thoroughly enjoying what's pretty much a vacation to him at this point and possibly running an interpeak illicit goods market (definitely not to distract himself from any of the emotions having NMJ & JGY alive and nearby would be causing him, Everything Is Fine) I haven't decided if he'd get involved with the whole og!SQH and MBJ situation tho

LXC on Qiong Ding, because I feel like he'd see himself in Yue Qingyuan and lowkey hate him for it and I think that could be interesting

JGY on Qing Jing, because he's the objectively the funniest/most interesting character to throw into the mess that is SJ and LBH. The way I imagine it, he's doing the most direct derailing of the plot, because he mostly accidentally gets right in the middle of the thing that is going on between those two

I feel like as I wrote this it became more serious than I originally intended so just know that I'm mentally picturing this like a fic that's interspersed with outsider POV of the 4 of them being completely deranged about eachother

(Also I'd feel bad taking away LXC's brother so LWJ and WWX + friends are busy doing hot girl shit being rogue cultivators. I think WWX should be a half demon so he gets to keep the cultivation and steal some of LBH's protagonist energy. If this was a fic then the rest of the Untamed gang would be perfect to use for side characters during off-peak missions)

Lan Xichen would be an old man and a good voice of reason for Yue Qingyuan. Although he's head disciple and a very good one at that (if only because his Big Brother instincts can't be held back and he MUST interfere to help prevent history repeating once more), Lan Xichen has made it very clear that he would never accept becoming sect leader.

Also don't forget Liu Mingyan in the background writing about a 4 person sex orgy. At least, that's her personal theory for why there's so much UNRESOLVED TENSION between these four sus male disciples. And also, because it's fun.

It's even funner when you consider that Nie Mingjue is out of the loop of Cang Qiong stuff even on Bai Zhan because he tags along on so many of Liu Qingge's missions that he's probably spending like 8 months of the year outside of the sect.

(Nie Huaisang gets "assigned" to missions that happen to take place near Nie Mingjue's hunts.)

Meng Yao is Meng Yao and he still craves the approval of Male Authority Figures That Could be his dad. Also Meng Yao still likes to climb up the social hierarchy and power. AKA Luo Binghe growing mushrooms in the corner at seeing ANOTHER QING JING disciple THE SAME AGE AS HIM being given SO MUCH ATTENTION AND APPROVAL by shizun.

Luo Binghe develops a complex over Meng Yao of course.

(Shen Jiu approves of Meng Yao because he understands these characters very well and know how to manipulate (cough kill or injury them physically or mentally) them easily. Plus Meng Yao is actually competent.)

Sorry I'm going to relate my own trauma to svsss

In PIDW and in SVSSS you have characters who are loved but not

OG Bingge's wives love the version of them they have in their heads

Shang Qinghua when he meets Mobei Jun is in love with the idealised character he created

Shen Yuan at first is in love with the idea of the Protagonist and then later loves the "white lotus" version of Binghe before he can see and love the real Binghe with all his flaws

Similarly Binghe for awhile I think loves the Lofty immortal Shen Qingqiu and also has to eventually see and love the flawed man in front of him. The holy mausoleum shook off the last effects of idealism from both of them imo

Shen Jiu holds Yue Qingyuan on a pedestal and then hates him for being on the pedestal.

Yue Qingyuan puts Shen Jiu up on another pedestal but decides he's untouchable

And in could go on easily

There is a constant narrative of people seeing a facade or what they want to see and claiming to love or appearing to love the image over the reality in front of them. And the only way to ever really move on and love someone is to shatter the image and accept the reality. Of course that comes with a risk of rejection for the person being seen, but it's that or lie forever and never feel confident in that love

It's most apparent with Binghe but there are subtle threads of this all over SVSSS and PIDW

And it makes me think about my mother. How she loved a version of me but it was a version she made up in her own head and never really knew me as a person and she ignored and forgot things she didn't want to acknowledge

And that makes me think of specifically Qiu Haitang

She loved little pretty Shen Jiu but did she? Did she even really know him?

Or was he just a pretty doll?

Was it inconvenient for her to know he was being abused so she just didn't notice? Or "forgot"?

Mobei Jun's dad also found it inconvenient to notice his brother attempting to kill his son

Ning YingYing chose not to notice her beloved Shizun's complicity

If I was writing a Dungeon Meshi AU of SVSSS, it would probably go like this (MoShang, sorta!BingYuan and implied QiJiu, kinda hopeful/YMMV ending(?), spoilers for DunMeshi):

- Shen Jiu and Shen Yuan are elf siblings (possibly twins haven't decided), born at the bottom of elven society

- SJ manages to gain enough money with both legal and illegal stuff to be somewhat respected (but nowhere near the level of the elf noble families) - he is also something of a rogue

- SY (still a transmigrator, the younger brother) gets accepted into a very good Magic school on a scholarship - mage, specializes in monsters etc. which makes his possible employment opportunities as a court mage/mage somewhat limited outside of dungeons (and they don't have the generational wealth nobles have to do whatever they want, they need to have a paying job)

- the brothers clash a lot over each other's choices which also results in some alienation between them

- SY goes off to study dungeons, SJ stays to build his growing empire of not-completely-legal activities

- SY gets known enough as an expert to get permission to go into various sealed/etc dungeons with the Canaries to study them (the Canaries are like the elven dungeon investigators/guards made up from nobles' children and convicts)

- Years pass in this stalemate between them, then one day Yue Qingyuan (elf, childhood friend, rediscovered heir to a noble family) arrives at SJ's doorstep to tell him that his brother was last seen entering a sealed dungeon months ago and not coming out since then. Additionally the dungeon started growing again which means that it likely has a new lord

- SJ decides to retrieve his brother (or his corpse then resurrect him then scold him a fuckton about being stupid)

- YQY can't go with him, but he can put him in contact with some adventurers

- months pass (bc traveling and making arrangements takes a lot of time)

- meet Shang Qinghua (still a transmigrator, also a dwarf now, rogue/cleric), his hubby Mobei-jun (ogre... what? I like the size diff... - warrior/mage btw), their buddy Liu Qingge (tall-men, warrior) and his sister Liu Mingyan (tall-men, mage/warrior) - there is a lot of multi-classing in this idea but eh

- and a warrior Luo Binghe (elf/tall-men) whom SQH is adamant they must take with them into the dungeon (because SQH is fairly sure that LBH's protag halo works just as well in this dunmeshi AU as it did in his novel)

- a few groups of the Canaries are camped outside the dungeon, not letting anyone in or out, monitoring the situation, preparing to storm and destroy the dungeon before monsters start spilling out

- so they (SJ and co) sneak into the dungeon, fighting monsters etc and eventually coming across some of the previous Canaries' bodies

- a lot of them were so destroyed/died too long that they couldn't be resurrected, SJ has a mini breakdown what this might mean for SY

- meanwhile we get a look at SY's side of the story, learn that they ran into a strange tall-men named Xin Mo in the dungeon and who turned out to be the dungeon's demon in disguise

- Xin Mo sweeps SY away and they make a deal, thus SY becomes the new dungeon lord

- he lives a quiet life studying the monsters in the dungeon (possibly mashed with his modern memories so the dungeon would start reflecting those too which would make SQH freak out a little while others are like "what twisted mind would come up with these concrete monstrosities" etc.) and creating new monsters too and there is a Luo Bingge look alike too tending to his every need (this LBH is made up of SY's memories of og!PIDW!LBH and some monsters)

- XM also feeds off of him and fanning his desires so that he can devour SY and break out of the dungeon eventually

And that's what I have atm. It would likely have a somewhat angsty ending with SJ not reaching SY in time so he gets half/mostly devoured and then how they all have to live with that. So like a hopeful ending bc they succeed, SY is alive but also really injured etc. but he could get reasonably better eventually.

....honestly, I think it would have been *really funny* had Airplane actually been transmigrated into Luo Binghe. Perhaps a bit later in LBH's life than he had as Shang Qinghua -- like maybe right after he got accepted into the Sect or something? Anyway, that's not what's funny.

But like. SY!Shen Qingqiu & ASTTS!Luo Binghe furiously orbiting each other because Something Isn't Right. Shen Qingqiu suddenly changed & that's super not normal. He's being nice & caring wtf??? How's Airplane supposed to build up the Angst to murder him later if he's like this?? What if he can't? Will the System penalize him?!

Meanwhile, there's something OFF about Luo Binghe that Shen Qingqiu can't quite put his finger on. It's irritating how Oddly Familiar it is, but neither of them figure it out. Not right away. Probably not til after Shen Qingqiu gets poisoned & Airplane goes through the 5 stages of grief knowing that he *could* cure his Shizun but also. Absolutely Not.

Let Liu Qingge & Mu Qingfang handle this.

Yet, similar to canon, Airplane lets a WTF slip when Shen Qingqiu protects him, and that prompts The Talk -- once everyone else is done fussing at Shen Qingqiu, of course. Though, neither of them know how to feel about this New & Exciting predicament.

Shen Qingqiu is honestly a bit sad! His precious darling disciple turned out to be that fcUCKING GUY. Yet, they can't just suddenly abandon the filial relationship they've been publicly flaunting for god knows how long at this point. So, even though they're totally Not Friends™, they still gotta pretend for Appearances & Totally Only That Reason.

Also, Airplane gets to break it to Shen Qingqiu this time that, yeah, Luo Binghe was a self-insert, anyway. So, it only makes sense...

One or more of the peak lords switch places in time with their younger selves for like a week and basically decides to spend that time gossiping. “It’s so nice to be able to not hear Shen-Shixiong and his husbands causing another scandal” “An Ding is so much warmer without the King of the North in semi-permanent residence” “Have you heard of ‘The resentment of Chunshan?’”

This person just keeps dropping multiple bombshells and is low key revealing in the chaos. The current head disciples and previous peak lords are loosing their shit at the idea that not only is TLJ roaming free, the demon realm is united, HHP is run by a half demon, etc, but also that, at minimum two peak lords are married to demon royalty.

For comedic purposes I propose that this au includes as many peak lords as possible in some sort of human-demon relationship.

Minds are blown with the mention of SQH being both the King of the North’s Consort, but also advisor to the demon emperor.

SQQ the leacher is in a committed gay relationship with two men? With his Disciple?? Who is said Current Demonic Emperor?! And LIU QINGGE?!

Tianlang-jun and YQY’s relationship is like two divorcees who bond over missing their spouses. Do Not Separate that is his emotional support demon/peak lord.

SVSSS pokemon AU where after he transmigrates Shen Yuan has to basically befriend Shen Jiu’s pokemon so they don’t give away the fact that he’s not Shen Jiu and because of that he actually clues into SJ’s traumatic background and sees the people around him as people instead of characters a LOT sooner than in canon

I don’t think that SQQ would have a full six team, even if he does battle regularly, but I think he’d have three at most that were originally SJ’s and then as the story goes on, he might adopt a few more of his own to signify his acceptance into his new identity and role 

NOW THE FUN PART!!! Here’s what I think the character’s pokemon teams would be! Its long so i’ll put it under the cut

Shen Jiu: Serperior (caught while working under Wu Yanzi as a Snivy), a Ninetails (given as an ‘engagement gift’ to Shen Jiu as a Vulpix by Qiu Haitang, helped him burn down the estate), and a Thievul (never really ‘caught’ this pokemon, but is considered his “first” pokemon as its lurked around him since his time on the streets as a Nickit- helped feed him and Qi-ge as streetkids, lead Qi-ge to SJ when he was locked up in the Qiu household, helped him with his jobs for Wu Yanzi, is seen skulking around Qing Jing causing problems on purpose)

Shen Yuan: Technically all of Shen Jiu’s but also a Zoroark (caught as a Zorua, affectionately named “Bingpup” or “BingBing” or “BB” he was caught after the Skinner incident, symbolizes SY ability to trick others in to believing in an illusion), and an Absol (started following him around before the Abyss arc, making everyone fear that something terrible was going to happen to SQQ, nicknamed “Cassandra” or “Cass”, never leaves the peak except for the time it was skulking around Huan Hua Palace before SQQ escaped and died, symbolizes SY regret that he can’t change things the way he wants)

Yue Qingyuan: Boltund (officially caught after he became a disciple, but used to follow him and SJ around as street kids), a Yamask (found it at the Qiu Estate Ruins, it sought him out and followed him back to the peak, he thought it was Xiao Jiu for the longest time), and Zacian (found him dying in the caves, only reason he survived binding his soul to the Xuan Su sword)

Luo Binghe: Haxorus (captured it after he was accepted at Qing Jing as an Axew, its a shiny, evolved in the Abyss), a Houndoom (found in the Abyss), Darkrai (found it in the dream realm, not technically ‘his’ pokemon but follows him around, is his Signature pokemon as a Heavenly Demon Lord), and a Sylveon (given to him by his mother as an Eevee egg, turned into a Sylveon before the Abyss arc, was so heartbroken over the betrayal but it stayed on QJ peak, it would lay by the Sword Mound and SQQ would talk with it daily, in PIDW it was an Umbreon) 

Liu Qingge: Bisharp (the pokemon he got after becoming a “War God”, YYX as a matching Pawniard which SQQ thinks is the cutest thing), Lucario (technically ‘his’ pokemon as it follows him around but isnt caught, likes to follow him and fight alongside LQG), Aegislash (his signature pokemon, got him when he was 4 years old and first learning sword forms), Gallade (given to him as a Ralts, a matching pair to LMY’s Gardevoir, upon LQG death in PIDW he became LMY’s pokemon but this doesnt happen in SVSSS), Braviary (given to him by SQQ as a Rufflet as a joke but jokes on him he loves the loud guy)

Shang Qinghua: Meowth  (OG’s only pokemon, SQH found it on his way to CQP, started off as a bitter angry thing, but became more lax as time went on, will often hiss at those he feels are being unfair to SQH and is not allowed near MBJ because of this, nicknamed “Lil’ Big Money” or “Lil’”), Whimsicott (became his as a disciple, helped him sneak around for MBJ and steal things/gather info, nicknamed “Q-tip” or “Q”), Snom (given to him by MBJ as a gift years into their partnership but before canon, said it ‘reminded him of you’ SQH was insulted but still loves him, nicknamed “Puddle”), Skwovet (his first pokemon, nicknamed “Cheeks,” he’s had this pokemon since he was 4 and it’s been his closest companion and knows all his secrets, acts as an emotional support pokemon) 

Mobei-Jun: Regice (acquired this pokemon after he got his inheritance, a pokemon that only follows the Mobei-Jun), Glalie (a pokemon he’s had since he was a child, considered his signature pokemon), Galarian Darumaka (he found it in a blizzard, it reminds him of SQH so he keeps it and feeds it berries, it likes to hide in his cloak when he travels, SQH had no idea about this pokemon until well into their romantic relationship, he thought it was just a random pokemon running around in the palace)

so the book does this a lot but i’m always a huge fan of when a character (in this case little palace mistress) spouts off a cliche and sqq internally goes “oh my god here we go again. cringe.” it’s like... the reader gets to experience the drama of the cliche but also laugh at it

airplane has gay and homophobic vibes. or like...... araki jojo vibes. it’s so funny

the system keeps forcing sqq into plots that were originally meant for binghe’s harem members, which is of course hilarious (more so now that binghe’s not a teen anymore) - but i’m thinking about the fact that the system is literally powered by binghe. i wonder if binghe’s feelings are subconsciously influencing the system/the rest of the plot? like we know he has plot armor; does he also have enough influence to shift the story’s genre without knowing it? shit like this is why i love this novel. i’m really curious if it’ll be addressed

more of sqq being absolutely terrible at communication <3 please sir. say your FEELINGS. i’m sure you could figure out some way to explain without revealing that you know how the og plot goes...

another thing i find super interesting about sqq’s character is how sure he is that lbh’s gonna turn out how he did in og pidw. he’s just refusing to accept that lbh’s changed in any way, or that he cares about sqq at all anymore. there’s some line somewhere where sqq is like “oh no, being nice to him just made it worse... i’m stuck with him hating me even more now...” like NO. you’re just refusing to see all the signs of lbh’s hidden feelings. love unreliable narrators lmao

fate/destiny is such a big theme i keep noticing stuff about it

the system giving him a multiple choice answer to binghe’s “do you regret it” question, dating sim style, is of course hilarious, but it’s also a fascinating moment for a couple reasons. first, it shows how much of a crutch the system is for sqq - sqq’s leaning on it to fix his problems instead of actually putting in the work himself to get better at interpersonal communication. i hope that in a key moment later he’ll choose to defy the system. i think that would be a nice pivot point for three themes: first, accepting that sometimes he needs to fix problems on his own, without any omniscient outside guidance, second, accepting that not everything is written in stone (either by airplane or by the system), and third, recognizing that binghe and the rest are “real people” (ymmv on whether or not you think they are, but i think this is where i think sqq’s arc is headed) rather than video game objects to be manipulated.

i think that some shifts in his attitude do start to happen in chap 43 though when he sacrifices himself

back to slightly less analytical observations! sqq getting his clothes torn up. oh my god. and lbh’s REACTION...

dying at shang qinghua’s “coded” letter and the fact that its content basically amounts to “i fucked up, please escape from jail asap thanks bro”

which like. YEAH. protag energy. the rules of the world don’t apply to lbh so much do they???

it’s a bit out of nowhere but also like. i kinda love it? because sqq knows he can’t talk his way out of this. he can’t say “hey it wasn’t me who abused you/made the choice to push you off the cliff.” so he goes and does the most drastic action he can think of. and it WORKS

now initially i was a lil mad about lbh changing his mind so quickly but i actually think it fits for 2 reasons. first, he’s a webnovel character. they do that. second, his mind has just been cleared of xin mo’s influence, which had been plaguing him during his most angry/violent moments, so with all that anger suddenly gone it makes sense for his feelings to shift. and deep down, he really does care about sqq!

sqq fuckin DEAD and finally binghe is sharing his feelings,,

i do think that lbh should be allowed to feel mad about what og!sqq did to him in the past though? like. it was wrong, and though sqq may feel like he’s made up for it, i do think he owes lbh a proper apology and (if possible) an explanation. there’s much more work (and communication) to be done between them but i’m glad they’re finally getting somewhere...

but of course i don’t think they’re gonna be seeing each other again anytime soon :]

honestly all of my favorite parings are:

a) half of the time not actual pairings but just friendships and

b) just whoever I think has solid Those Two Guys energy.  this does not necessitate them being guys, I just want, like, whatever Timone and Pumba had going on.  They would 100% be college roommates, and would fake date each other without hesitation but would also sell each other out for a single corn chip.  If I can successfully picture them being a pair of henchmen to some cheesy supervillain who constantly diss their boss then you are doing it right.

Scum Villain soulmate au where you have the name of your destined enemy on one wrist & the name of your soulmate on the other.

Shen Yuan gets Luo Binghe and Shang Qinghua, and immediately panics that his soulmate must be SQH (since OG!SQQ had LBH & YQY).

It's only later they figure out that SQH is his destined enemy because his bad writing literally killed SY.

I recently (5 seconds ago) came up with an au that combines the real hazmat au (where Danny wore a full hazmat suit in the portal) with the No One Knows au (ghosts AND humans don't know Danny's secret) and the Ghost King au (speaks for itself).

So essentially this strange ghost just shows up in Amity Park one day and starts fighting off all of the other ghosts appearing. Some people think this is a good thing, others are suspicious of this mysterious ghost's motives.

It doesn't help that it has occasionally done things like steal jewelry or attack the towns people for unknown reasons. It seems to run on a set of rules that no one else knows or can understand, human or fellow ghost.

Then one day the town receives it's worst attack yet, by the king of ghosts himself, Pariah Dark. No one knows what to do, everyone regardless of living status is panicking.

And then the Fenton's mech suit, the one they made specifically to fight Pariah Dark...

goes.

missing.

It's only after the battle, when the mysterious Phantom is proclaimed victorious, that everyone sees the burnt husk of what is left of the suit.

The observants quickly decide to crown this new ghost King, as per tradition, not even giving the ghost enough time to stammer out a complaint.

After all, such a serious-looking ghost is just what they need on the throne right now! The ghost seems to have come into being a bit recently, but that's all the better for their purposes anyways.

Besides, if something were going to go wrong with this plan, wouldn't they have already seen it?

(Clockwork cackles in the distance while carefully muddying the future reveal juuuust enough that those lazy eye-balls won't want to put in the effort to look at them.)

Their new king, after a few moments of confusion, silently accepts the position with nervous applause coming from all around.

(Danny, who is 14 and just became the ruler of an entire mirror dimension, sweats nervously inside his suit and prays no one ask him why he's checking out every book on politics at the library later)

The fentons are so funny when you compare them to real-life ghost hunters though. Imagine having a ghost hunter convention and everyone is discussing how descriminate actual cold spots from places with bad ventilation or what frequency spirit boxes should be on and then these two weirdos in jumpsuits with a FUCKING BAZOOKA walk in and try to explain that not only are ghosts a lot more solid then everyone thinks but they're also all evil and need to be hunted down.

And everyones just like

"Oh its the fentons. I wonder if they brought fudge again this year."

It really makes no sense that so much of the SVSSS fandom (me included) are like "Luo Binghe and Shen Qingqiu would definitely fully be open to having a polyamorous relationship with Liu Qingge"

But in the same breathe are like "Mobei and Jun and Shang Qinghua are monogamous as fuck"

Like why? There is no textual evidence for this

Poly Bingqiu really does not make sense when Binghe was willing to kill everyone just so Shen Qingqiu would have to choose only him

At least Monogamous Moshang does make some kind of sense but why wouldn't we apply the same logic to Bingqiu?

There is a baby trap plan somewhere in there too though he gets caught (and accepted into the family- Shen Jiu; WHAT?!) And they have a hasty wedding with a fat baby 8 months later.

Shang Qinghua has no room to protest - if he does, Mobei Jun is ready to put him in time out (in the Endless Abyss). Plus there's a looming sect leader (and other peak lords) who's very protective of their shizi...

Also the Cang Qiong sect: Don't worry Shen Jiu, you might be stuck with Shang Qinghua has a husband and parent of your only child, but harems are a thing and we will support you if you want a harem!
