she really is trying the hardest to do this in her own terms, in this industry that pretty much allows no wiggle room when it comes to being as big as she’s gotten. it’s clear to me she doesn’t care about maintaining the level of notoriety she has now, she cares about connecting to the subset of people who her art has always been aimed at and that is it. and i find it so admirable! it must be really hard to get what every artists out there is trying to and not let yourself get influenced by it, but she is remaining steadfastly herself. it’s so refreshing and it makes me like her so much more

i really don’t think it’s “typical dragon age fandom nonsense” for people to be genuinely upset about the world state choices. combat, level design, art direction, gameplay gimmicks, those have all varied across each dragon age game. the one thing that’s remained constant are nods to our previous choices.

My middle schoolers after several sessions of generic DnD exploring/socializing: Wait. Could I. Become a millionaire in this game?

Me, trying to keep the world and their goals very open: Well, yes, but just like in real life, you would have to do something very big and out of the ordinary. Maybe if a person accrued enough land for farming or quarrying they would become a major industry contributor and, in theory, a millionaire. For very big quests, in history, a noble person might grant you some land or a title. [this is in line with established game mechanics so far]

Middle schoolers: Wait. Could we. Become a king or a queen.

Me: *sweating* well we’ve sort of established that the land determines the next ruler by primogeniture… (side quest related to a princess being coronated) you become a king or queen by birth or by being the consort of the king or queen—

Middle schooler: Wait. Could I. Marry the princess?

Me: *danger* in theory I mean-

Middle schoolers: omg guys we gotta marry the princess. Who here has the highest charisma?

1. I was thinking about an aroace Sonic who says things that can be taken as wildly flirty/romantic but he just means them genuinely. “You have beautiful eyes, I keep getting distracted while looking at them,” not cause he’s interested romantically in them but because eyes can be really cool and pretty man I dunno what to tell you he likes looking at cool things and he thinks his friends are neat. “You’re the most beautiful person here,” because he really thinks that, he loves his friends

2. Sonic randomly dropping heartfelt genuine comments on his friends out of the blue completely blindsiding them and then moves on like nothing happened while they’re left going ?????? Bonus points if he does something immensely stupid or jerkish just before or immediately afterwards and they can’t tell if he was serious or not with the compliment (yes he was)

3. Sonic usually being so allergic to truly vulnerable moments that when he expresses something heartfelt randomly Tails thinks he’s been stabbed or something and does not believe him when he reassures him that he’s fine he’s fine he’s not dying yeesh
