The Understudies, Season 2, Chapter 8
Word Count:  1.3k
Warnings: gun violence, character death

“She was looking for you!” Five proclaimed, “for all of you!”
“All of who?”
“You…Delores…Brianna…Danielle…” he answered, “it’s because you’re one of us.  The handler stole you away though, Lila.  Like how our asshole father took all of us!”
Lila began to get nervous.  She shook her head as she looked at the siblings, “no…it’s not the same thing!”
“You’re right,” Diego agreed, “because he didn’t have our parents murdered.  Your parents sold Dani and Bri off, but they kept you and Dot.  They realized that someone was after them right around the trip to Canada, where they left Dot with someone who promised to take care of her.  But the handler stole you.  Listen to me, Lila.  You were born on Octboer 1, 1989, just like the rest of us.”
“STAY BACK!”
“HEY! Hey! Stop!” Diego begged, “Wait.  Hey, Lila!  Lila, STOP!”
“I trusted you,” she cried, “I got you a job.  I even introduced you to my mother.  And you took off on me!”
“That’s because I HAD TO SAVE THE WORLD!” he reminded her, “She’s just using you, Lila.  The handl-“
“YOU’RE WRONG!” she yelled, cutting him off, “she raised me.  SHE LOVES ME!”
“Yeah, but you know what,” Luthor began sadly, cutting in, “Love shouldn’t have to hurt this much!”
They were all silent for a few moments, before Lila put her finger up to her mouth and made it seem like she was throwing up.
“Enough…come on!”
“HEY, FIVE!” Diego yelled, stopping his brother from charging Lila, “Stop.  I got it.  Lila.  The truth?  The handler is dangerous.  And you’re scared of what she’ll do with all that new power.  That’s why you dragged me to the commission.  It’s because I know what it’s like to love dangerous people.  The difference between us, is that they love me back!”
“SHUT UP!”
“The only thing that she loves is power!” Diego began, “and the minute that she can’t use you, she will turn on you.  And deep down, I know that you know that!”
“You don’t know me, Diego!”
“Don’t I?” he asked, “I know that we can be your family, if you just let us!”
He took a step closer to her, closing the gap between them.  Lila still looked around the barn, cautious around the rest of the siblings, but no one gave the impression that they were dangerous to her.  She sighed, ready to give in.  She knew that Diego was making sense, and that he was more than likely right.  And here these unknown people were, ready to just accept her.
Gunshots rifled through the barn, breaking up the moment.  The siblings’ bodies jolted, each one of them littered with bullet holes as the handler ripped her way through them.  Lila ran to Diego when the gunfire stopped, “Diego!  NO!”
“Awww!” the handler mocked, looking between Lila and Diego, “Dot…isn’t that sweet?  She’s still got feelings for him.”
Dot didn’t respond, and she didn’t think much of it as the handler stalked towards Lila and Diego.
“It’s true what five said, isn’t it?”
“Yeah,” she replied honestly, “and I need to know that we can get past this.  Be a happy little family again, hmm?”
“They’re my real family!” she whimpered, looking around at the siblings who were bleeding out, “do you even love me?”
There wasn’t enough time for her to answer as she pulled one of Diego’s knives and attempted to stab her.
More gunshots littered the air as the handler shot Lila, killing her.
“Que sera sera!” she commented simply, making her way over to five who was choking on his own blood, “oh good…you’re still alive.  Lucky you!  You got to see how this all played out.”
Again, gunshots littered the barn, killing the handler.  The last of the swedes walked in, his gaze momentarily caught up in the dazed look Dot had across her face as she stared at five.  His brow furrowed as he followed it.  With simple steps he made his way into the massacre, stopping short of where five stood.
He pointed his gun at him.
Dot dropped to her knees, silently begging for him not to.  Five closed his eyes, using the last of what little energy he had, to attempt to turn back the clocks.
Everything felt like it was going in slow motion for five.  His siblings lost the wounds from the handler, the bullets flying back into the gun.  He charged at the door, ending up beside it, when his powers cut out.
It was perfect timing in every sense of the word.
He caught her right as she came in, knocking the gun from her hands, forcing the siblings to be surprised at what had just happened.  Dot stood obediently at her side, unwavering.
“It’s true, isn’t it?    WHAT FIVE SAID?  ANSWER ME!  IS IT-“
This time it was two singular gunshots that ripped through the air.  The handler and Dot crumpled to the floor as the Swede entered the room.  Five rushed towards the shell of the woman that he loved, but she was already gone.
“THE CASE!”
Diego tackled his brother as Luthor attempted to stop Lila.  She had grabbed onto the case and disappeared.
The Swede cocked his gun, and five, lost in his grief did the same, pointing it at the assassin, tears in his eyes.
“ENOUGH!”
The Swede looked from Dot and the handler, to the siblings, before repeating ‘enough’ in Swedish.  He sighed, and turned on his heel, leaving the siblings alone.
“WHY DID YOU STOP ME?” Luthor growled at Diego.
“Because I love her!”
“Yeah, well now we’re stuck!”
The siblings heard a noise outside, and their attention turned towards the two people walking towards the barn from the field.
“No way!” Diego breathed, his smile reappearing on his face as he dragged five out of the barn with him.
“Is that-“
“Herb…”
Tumblr media
The siblings were shocked.  Five dropped the briefcase on the entrance floor as Luthor gawked at him, “oh god…we’re back…we’re home…”
“Someone check the day!”
“What day is it?” Luthor asked.
Five gasped as he picked up the newspaper on the rounded table, “April 2, 2019…it’s the day after the apocalypse.”
“Wait?” Allison asked, “so we stopped it?”
“So wait, it’s over?" Vanya asked.
“We actually succeeded at something!” Klaus said in disbelief, “That’s incredible.”
The siblings all seemed to be in a happy agreement, while Five looked around, saddened by the fact that Dot wasn’t with them.
“I don’t know about you guys, but I need a drink!” Klaus smirked.   The siblings, again, seemed to be in agreement, as they followed him into the parlor.  While the siblings split off, all starting their own conversations, it was Diego who stopped, curiously looking at the picture over the fireplace, “Hey guys…why is there a picture of Ben over the fireplace?”
“I knew you’d show up eventually!”
The siblings were surprised to see Reginald Hargreeves stand up from his chair and turn towards thme.
“Dad!”
“You’re alive!”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” their father asked.
“Yeah…yeah,” Luthor agreed, “you’re right.  I’m just happy you’re home.  And that we’re together again!”
“Home?” the man scoffed, “this isn’t your home!”
“What are you talking about?” Allison asked, “This is the Umbrella Academy!”
“Wrong again,” the man said matter of fact, “after that night, I made a few decisions.  This is the Sparrow Academy!”
Footsteps were heard above them.  The siblings turned around, their eyes not catching on the group that was on the second floor balcony, but rather to the two siblings that they thought they’d need again.  Ben stood in front of the bar, with Dot by his side.
“Dad who the hell are these assholes?” Ben asked snarkily, sneering at them.
“Want us to get rid of them?” Dot asked, cracking her knuckles.

Day 165, and I'm starting to think these last few boxes are going to be tough. Took a shot at Confident, don't really like how it turned out. It'll be back to the drawing board tomorrow, unless I decide over night that I like it. Which has happened in the past on other drawings, so, we'll see. I wanted to try again, but I also want to go to bed on time for once, so I'm tossing it up here and then doing my beddy bye process!

Encanto family with Naagin!Darling who likes to 'pranks' people thinking that they wants to attack them or go around their neck thinking they want to choke them (even the guests who come their house). Sometimes abulela and mirabel would ask them to stop but like they dont know anything and would avoid their questions or like "Chill, its just a small prank 😐🙄". Would they find a way to stop using their powers?
(Bonus : people thought darling doesnt have powers like mirabel)

TW OBSESSIVE BEHAVIOR STALKING POSSESSIVE BEHAVIOR STOCKHOLM SYNDROME MANIPULATION ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR
Oh wow I'm so glad that you liked it I hope that this is good
 you become more mischievous with your pranks becoming a little more rude and the family is not having any of it as much as they love you they can't have you falling out of line what if someone saw you and try to take you away.
💛 Félix is fine with a few pranks but when you started to become a little more Brave he started getting a little annoyed but that was an understatement he does more worried you might show yourself off too much and get someone hurt before they hurt you so he's commonly by you whenever you're in town he would be firm but polite for you not to go so far you still have bruises on your shoulders
💛Pepa no you are not getting past this woman your prince will bring too much attention to you and you'll be punished you even have lot of scars from the last time you did an extreme prank
💛 Camilo he joins you on your pranks it's even funnier when people realize they didn't think you had a gift either you they thought you were just like Maribel but in fact you had the power to transform into the snake and other lizards it's very funny to see the talent people's reaction to you as a snake attempts to bite them
💛 Delores he is a little hesitant because you've done it on her a few times she loves lizards and snakes( personal headcanon) so it's always a Gamble is it "y/n or is it an actual lizard" most of the time it's you that leads to some type of punishment by Pepa she would feel too bad to hurt you
💛 Antonio same with Dolores except he knows when it's you because of his ability to talk to animals he can immediately tell its you so it usually doesn't work on him
❤Abuela she is having none of it she has to keep the family in line especially you to be honest she does have some favoritism when it comes to you but that doesn't let you be able to escape punishment for her being a lot more sweet on you her punishments are much more severe so don't prank her
💙 Maribel she's kind of guilty of this but she helps you with your pump pranks she thinks it's a bonding thing but it is kind of weird whenever people start yelling at you and Maribel just gives them the this glare if you didn't start laughing it made them Turn to Stone not really but they would force themselves to laugh
💙 Isabela she's often there pranking people with you but mostly just wants to be there for you so she can hear your sneaky laugh it's so cute to her even though it sounds like a Maraca and the snake at the same time
💙agustín and Julieta you often get hurt whenever people accidentally hurt you so she's there 20 ft away getting ready to heal you up while Agustín calmly leaves them away so he can deal with them they have not been seen for a long time
💙Luisa after you attempts to bring her she accidentally breaks one of your arms when she steps on you and your snake form Juliette has theirs heal you but she felt so bad she carried around for the rest of the week to make it up to you but you carried no hard feelings
💚 Bruno hate snakes because they eat his rats so he will punish you if you're ever in a form of a lizard that eats rats so expect to have a few bruises and scars left from what that happened he still feels bad about it but you have to learn your lesson somehow after that he kind of just cuddles you and does your hair he's like Jekyll and Hyde
Again I am so sorry this is bad

This is my very first post, so I hope I do good! Please give me some feedback, I would love to hear it.
The Umbrella Academy Life Swap:
The Hargreaves switch lives instead of powers.
• Ben ran away at the age of 13 and got lost in the dimension inside his stomach, the Handler eventually finds him and recruits him to the Commission. He works as a super powered agent that saves his victims from his sadistic partners, Hazel and Cha-Cha. Ben doesn’t come back in a 13 year old body like Five, he’s the same age as his siblings, and Ben does know about the apocalypse and has the eye. And unlike Five, Ben actually tells his siblings about the apocalypse and how he was a super powered assassin that acted as the kidnapper and lookout. When the Hargreaves were 13, Ben had tried to talk to Five out of time traveling because logically, he may not know where he would end up, but Five wouldn’t listen to him and started arguing with him. The fighting got so loud that Vanya and Klaus eventually got pulled into the argument as well and it turned into a fistfight with all 4 of them. All of them ended up with scratches and bruises on their faces, a few chunks of their hair missing, and cleaning the mansion floors and ceilings from top to bottom and every single room without using their powers as a punishment for fighting by Reginald. At 2 am, Ben woke up after a nightmare and felt bad about getting Vanya and Klaus into trouble when they didn’t even started the fight in the first place and tried to go to their rooms to apologize, but he never did because the Horror became restless and angry that it didn’t get anything to eat and wanted to make Ben feel how trapped they felt when Reginald always had them kill people, so Ben’s tentacles grabbed him and opened the portal to their world, which was the apocalypse, and trapped him there for 10 years until the Handler came and recruited him and was never seen after that day again. Because of Ben’s disappearance, Vanya and Klaus blamed Five and his ambition for time travel since it was him who argued with Ben in the first place and Five had never forgotten it. Ben hopes that Klaus and Vanya would forgive Five in time. Ben read Klaus’s book about what happened to his family when he disappeared, he read about Luther running away to Dallas to forget about the Umbrella Academy, about Diego staying at the Academy to keep fighting crime, about Allison’s death and how she’s now mute, how Klaus is trying to get sober and stabling himself, how Five became a professor at a prestigious university and a vigilante, and how Vanya took a dark path into alcoholism.
• Five became a lowly-paid physics professor at community college after he was fired for punching a colleague at prestigious university and he’s also a vigilante, but his fiancé Delores doesn’t like it though. Five met Delores at a professor’s conference in Canada where she was presenting her findings on the science of gems and geodes since she’s a mineralogy professor (someone who teaches the study of rocks and crystals) and where he was discussing the possibility of time travel. Those two immediately hit it off and are now engaged, Five proposed to her by using different types of gems to spell it out. Five uses his powers of teleportation to be a mysterious assassin and hero.
• Klaus is a dancer at a local theater and he has somewhat control over his powers, but if the ghosts get too loud, he smokes cigarettes instead of weed so he wouldn’t be high at a recital. He became friends with Leonard Peabody aka Harold Jenkins when Klaus was 23 after his family abandoned him for writing an auto-biography about him having a power that traumatizes him and what the Umbrella Academy was really like behind the scenes, it’s called “The Ghosts Inside the Umbrella Academy: the life of Klaus Hargreaves”. Harold makes him more isolated by threatening to kill himself and haunting Klaus for the rest of his life if Klaus tries to leave him. Since Klaus never had someone ,besides Ben, care for him and give him a home and food since he was living at a homeless shelter when he met Leonard, Klaus thinks that this type of friendship is normal and doesn’t think twice about it. In his book, Klaus portrays his remaining siblings as people who knew about his drug abuse, but didn’t do anything about it; he portrayed Luther as a hotheaded daddy’s boy who was treated like the Golden child, Diego as a momma’s boy with daddy issues always trying to compete with Luther for everything, Allison as his favorite sister who was taken too soon, who’s death was the final straw that tore apart their family, and who acts as a silent ghost mother since she’s mute (no one believes him that he can see her though), he portrays Five as the cause of Ben’s disappearance and as a heartless gremlin who doesn’t care about his siblings enough to see that his siblings are hurting and have real problems of their own, he portrays Ben as his kind-hearted and favorite brother who was the glue that hold their family together and who’s disappearance drove a wedge between the family, and he portrays Vanya as his ordinary violin playing sister that desperately wanted to belong with their family in any way she could, but turned to alcohol when she learned that her dream of being in the Umbrella Academy was crushed by Reginald and who had the easy life of not being exploited by their father for her powers like he was. Vanya actually confronted him about her portrayal in the book and they said some things that they shouldn’t have, but they eventually forgave each other and Vanya moved in with him and Leonard a month later. Klaus didn’t mind that Vanya and Leonard were dating, but saw a striking difference between Vanya and Leonard’s relationship and Vanya and Sissy’s relationship when Vanya came back from the 60s. With Leonard, Vanya was walking on eggshells and isolated from her brothers and couldn’t be herself around him, but with Sissy, Klaus saw that Vanya was happier and could be herself around Sissy and loves Harlan like her own son. Klaus was the one to kill Leonard with his powers by having Allison choke him to death when he badly hurt Harlan with a gun and tried to drown Sissy.
• Allison dies at the age of 17 when her throat was slit by a serial killer on a mission and now acts like Klaus’s mother by always keeping him sober enough to conjure her and giving him healthy advice, but ultimately going along with almost every crazy idea Klaus has. Since she has a slit throat she can’t talk, but she does sign language instead and like Ben, she ages like Klaus, but still wears the same outfit she was buried in: a yellow and green striped dress with a blue flora printed jacket with red heels and a pair of black leggings. She HATES Leonard Peabody because he’s manipulating Klaus into isolation from their family and she tries to get Klaus out of their toxic friendship, but Klaus always denies Leonard’s abuse. She misses her siblings so much that she’s deeply hurt that she had ignored their problems for so long.
• Diego stayed at the Umbrella Academy because he didn’t know how to be anything else but a hero, he also didn’t want to Mom behind, so he began reading and writing code to free Grace from her restrictive rules that Reginald put on her, but after his accident that had him have scars all over his body and face to the point where he lost his left eye and his face is almost beyond recognition, Diego left the Academy when he realized that there was no point in staying and became a recluse in his good friend, Eudora’s house. Unlike Luther, Diego doesn’t have the monkey body because I just couldn’t see that type of body build on David Castaneda. Diego met Eudora at a local boxing gym, Eudora was impressed Diego’s fight skilled and was shocked to know that he was Diego “The Kraken” Hargreaves because Reginald told the whole world including their city and Luther, Klaus, Five, and Vanya that Diego died in an explosion a year ago when he had his accident. Diego ,of course, was pissed that his own father told everyone and his siblings that he was dead instead of saying that he survived the mission and was just scarred for the rest of his life, but he wasn’t surprised that Reginald did that to keep up his reputation. Him and Eudora immediately became fast friends and roommates at her house since Diego had nowhere to go when he left the Academy 6 months ago and was living at an run-down and moldy apartment. They actually tried dating at one point, but because of their conflicted personalities, they decided to just stay friends and roommates.
• 3 months after Allison’s funeral, Luther ran away to escape his father’s tight gripped and cold stare and the house that reminded him of his lovely yet dead Allison when he was 18 years old. He ended up in Dallas, Texas where he became a famous boxer named King Kong since he’s so huge and muscular, met and married a successful TV salesman named Elliott Gussman, and they adopted an African American baby girl who they named Claire Allison Gussman. Luther decided to take Elliott’s last name ,even though it was Luther who proposed to him, to cut his ties off from the Umbrella Academy and the man who turned 6 children into soldiers and who blamed the death of an innocent 17 year old girl that happened to be his adopted daughter on his 4 sons and 1 daughter instead of the person who killed her in the first place. Luther and Elliott had a happy marriage for 3 years until Klaus’s book came out that exposed the secrets of Luther’s past and made him into a hotheaded bully with daddy issues who followed Reginald around like a eager puppy trying to get a reward and a coward ran away from his problems instead of facing them. Elliott was furious at Luther because when Luther came to Dallas he lied about being from a mob family that did all types of shady businesses and that he ran away because his “family” couldn’t understand and accept him being bisexual instead of telling him truth about his abusive father who raised them to be child soldiers, how his brother Diego would always tried to be better than him to their father’s approval, how his brother Five was too smart for his own good, how he loved his sister Allison more than he should, how he tried to forget about Ben’s disappearance, how he ignored Klaus’s drug abuse, and how he denied Vanya’s problem with alcohol for so long. When Elliott read Klaus’s book about what Luther did and who he was, Elliott immediately started arguing with him about his true identity. Luther tried to deny it, but couldn’t because he loves Elliott too much to even hurt him in a way. Elliott actually threatened to separate from Luther when their arguments gotten too much, but he didn’t and instead drove Luther and him to see a marriage counselor so that they could actually talk to each other instead of just arguing. Luther and Elliott eventually made up, but because of the book, Luther is the one that’s more pissed about it and at Klaus for almost making Elliott lose his marriage to him. Btw, Claire is 6 years old in 2019 and was adopted as a baby in 2013 by the Gussman family when Luther was 24 and Elliott was 30, a year after Klaus’s book was published.
• Vanya was introduced to alcohol at 13 years old when Five and Klaus were drinking 2 cases of beer that Five stole, Klaus persuaded her to take a sip of his beer and she hasn’t stop drinking since. Besides the violin and her pills, alcohol was the thing that defined Vanya and her personality. Vanya thought that no one would care about what happened to her since she was so ordinary and isolated that she dumped all of her pills in the garbage disposal and drinks her problems away. With her new coping mechanism, Vanya’s personality changed from quiet and meek to sarcastic and drunk. Five and Vanya left the Academy for college together, but ended up separated by the time they were 20 because Vanya kept drinking her tutition away. By the age of 22, Vanya ended up being homeless because she got kicked out of her apartment for not paying her rent with the money she used to buy alcohol. She still plays her violin, but only for cash instead of at The Icarus Theatre. She also read Klaus’s book and was upset about her portrayal as his alcoholic sister who had an easy life of being ordinary and never going on missions because she doesn’t have a power that can’t be turned off willingly or that can kill somebody; she cried and drank her misery away for 3 weeks until she confronted Klaus about the book, they both admittedly said things that they regretted, but ended up apologizing to each other in the end. She also meets and dates Leonard like in the show and instead of Allison finding the truth about Leonard, it’s Five and Delores who both tried to convince Klaus and Vanya that Leonard is a snake, but they both denied it. Vanya ends up living with Klaus and Leonard when her and Klaus made up when she’s 23. In my first draft I made it Five and Delores that Vanya ended up rooming with, but I wanted to make Vanya and Klaus isolated further by Leonard manipulating both of them. When the house is attacked by Hazel and Cha-Cha, Vanya is the one that’s kidnapped and tortured by them for 2 days and is rescued by Eudora who arrives with back up this time, but is injured in the spine by Cha-Cha. Vanya takes the briefcase and time travels to October 12, 1963 where she ends up falling in love with a woman named Sissy Cooper, a widowed housewife who accidentally ran Vanya over with her car, and becoming a nanny/second mother to Sissy’s 5 year old autistic son named Harlan. Vanya stayed with them until 1966 when a neighbor reported their “unholy” relationship to the police, so to keep them safe Vanya used the briefcase to go back to 2019 with Sissy and Harlan.
—When Vanya gets back to 2019 with Sissy and Harlan, no one believes her story except for Klaus, who promises to her relationship with Sissy a secret from Leonard, and Ben, who was the only one that was worried about her whereabouts in the first place besides Klaus. Vanya tries to become sober for the sake of Harlan not being afraid of her when she gets drunk and for Sissy and her’s relationship since her late husband was an abusive alcoholic, instead of conjuring the one she loves’s ghost like Klaus did in the show. When Vanya was dating Leonard, he would constantly have her and Klaus practice their music and dance at 12am-6am to train them more and if one of them mess up, he’ll have them locked up in a dark and tiny closet with only one dimly lit lightbulb and they would have to balance on a stool on one leg for the duration of their training. Leonard would also take his anger out on Klaus and Vanya if he had a bad day at his shop, which would leave Klaus with bruises on his arms and a black eye and Vanya with scratches on her back and bruises on her neck. (Trigger Warning for those who can’t handle stories with domestic violence) When the 3 of them were 27, Leonard gotten pissed at how independent and successful Klaus and Vanya were getting in their lives by Klaus getting paid more from his dance recitals and Vanya going to AA meetings more to the point of being sober for 3 weeks that he took his frustrations about losing his control out on them by punching and slapping Klaus and choking and scratching Vanya, but thankfully a neighbor called the police after hearing their screams and Klaus and Vanya were taken to the hospital and Leonard was arrested, but unfortunately Klaus and Vanya bailed Leonard out due to dropping charges against him as an apologize.
Here are the things that I changed
• Klaus and Vanya both cause the apocalypse by combining their powers at Klaus’s dance recital with Vanya’s violin because Leonard isolated them from everyone, manipulated them to the point of denying the abuse he put them through, and because of him trying to kill Sissy and Harlan for taking Vanya away from him.
• Five and Delores tries to explain to Vanya and Klaus that Leonard only liked them to get revenge on the Umbrella Academy and it was him that kidnapped Sissy and Harlan to get them to come back to him, but Five gets stabbed in the stomach by Klaus’s new found telekinesis and Vanya makes Five and Delores’s apartment collapsed after knocking Delores out. When the apartment collapses, Allison , who’s coperal at the moment, immediately grabs both a bleeding Five and an unconscious Delores and saves them from death and takes them to the Academy to be treated by Grace. Delores unfortunately loses her right arm to a huge piece of shrapnel lodged into it that’s cutting the circulation.
• When Ben goes to the apocalypse for the first time, he finds Luther with the eye clutched in his hand, Diego wrapped in black bandages holding a woman with a long black ponytail (Eudora), Five in an Armani suit with his eyes opened, and a red headed woman in a polka dotted blouse and a black skirt holding one of Five’s hand (Delores). All of them are dead and Ben finds out that they’re his brothers by the faded black umbrella tattoo on Luther’s wrist when Ben was inspecting the bodies. The bodies that Ben couldn’t find were Allison, Vanya, and Klaus’s, but after learning about Allison’s death from Klaus’s book, Ben kept looking for Vanya and Klaus.
• Vanya gets her burst of powers when Harlan almost drown in the summer of ‘64 in the lake 10 miles away from the farm. Harlan was playing with a beach ball when it got away from him and he tried to get it while Vanya and Sissy were cuddling in the sand and a wave pulled him under the water. Sissy started crying and panicking when Vanya couldn’t get Harlan to the surface, but after a minute of silence she was shocked and relieved to see Vanya holding Harlan in her arms while she’s floating in the lake with glowing white eyes. As soon as they get to shore, Vanya gives Harlan cpr which transfers her newly found powers to him like in the canon.
• Diego doesn’t show himself to his siblings until episode 3 when Hazel and Cha-Cha attack the house because everyone thinks he’s dead and he’s a recluse. He finds out about the attack from Grace (mom) when she calls him from her bedroom phone since they talk every day so that he can know what’s going on and because of these calls, Diego knows about Ben being back, how the funeral went, and how much each of his siblings changed over the years.
• In episode 1, since the siblings’ lives are switched around, the way they found out that Reginald died is slightly different from canon. Luther finds out from the press badgering him after he won a fight, Diego finds out from Eudora when she comes home after work and turns on the Tv in a flash, Klaus finds out during rehearsal on the radio that him and his group are listening to to practice the recital while Allison is dancing in the shadows behind him when the news suddenly comes on, Five finds out from his phone on social media when one of his students sent him the news link after Five teleports to his apartment after saving a 12 year old boy from being abducted by a creep and almost killing said creep by beating him senseless, and Vanya finds out from a bar Tv when she and Leonard are on a date. She immediately calls Klaus who was immediately going to call her to tell her the same thing when he was done rehearsals.
• Just to clarify, since Vanya spent 3 years with Sissy and Harlan in Dallas from 1963-1966, she is 33 years old and Harlan is 8 years old because he was 5 when he and his mom met Vanya. Even though Vanya spent 3 years in the ‘60s, she was only gone for 2 days with Klaus, Five, Delores, Ben, and Leonard searching for her.
• When the Hargreeves all come back for the funeral, the introduction of them to each other are very different. Diego doesn’t show up to the funeral to keep up the reputation of him being dead. Vanya and Klaus show up together, but immediately split up when Vanya goes straight to the bar making drinks for her and her brothers (mostly for her though) and Klaus goes to his old room to reminisce about his past. Five checks their father’s room and office for evidence of something other than a heart attack, he is the one that thinks that Reginald was murdered by someone, and he also greets Vanya and Klaus with Delores who went with him to meet his family. Luther is trying to get through the funeral as possible by almost avoiding his siblings, but that backfires when Five calls a family meeting to talk about their father’s death and Luther sees a tipsy Vanya holding a mix of vodka and rum, Klaus talking to Delores who is laughing at a funny story Klaus is telling, and Five lecturing the remaining siblings on how their father might’ve been murdered.
• Eudora is more present in the show since she survives the gunshot wound in her spine by Cha-Cha, but she ends up being paralyzed from the waist down in a wheelchair. She helps Five with discovering how Reginald actually died and Diego with stepping out into the world and seeing his family for the first time in years. Like in canon, she is the first one to find Vanya at the motel after finding the message that Hazel and Cha-Cha left on the van when they burned down the prosthetic factory after they got drunk off of Vanya’s “special lemonade” which is just lemonade mixed with wine and vodka. Unlike in the show, Delores and Ben go with Eudora as back up in case something goes wrong and it does end up going wrong with Cha-Cha and Eudora having a shoot out with each other in the parking lot that ultimately ends up Eudora becoming paralyzed by Cha-Cha’s bullet ricocheting off a lamppost and lodging into Eudora’s spine with her laser gunand Ben wrestling with his former partner Hazel in the motel room while Vanya is escaping through the vent with the briefcase in her arms and Delores in tow.
Ben breaks Hazel’s wrist and almost beats him to a bloody pulp for kidnapping Vanya, but he stops when he hears Eudora’s screams from outside and sees her on the ground behind her car and he immediately drives her to the hospital while Hazel and Cha-Cha get away before the police show up. Delores and Vanya get on a nearby bus to escape the chaos and they talk about what’s going on in their lives and Delores talks about how Leonard treats Klaus when they’re alone, but Vanya denies any abuse and opens the briefcase. The last thing Vanya hears is Delores screaming.
• The episode “The Day that Wasn’t” doesn’t exist in my AU and is instead replaced with an episode called “Welcome to the 60’s” where Five interrogates Sissy and Harlan about the past while working on the beat up briefcase to learn more about how to time travel. Eudora and Diego talk about how their long time friendship has become into a sibling relationship and about how Diego can reconnect with his siblings again. Luther and Delores discuss how they both want a normal and ordinary life with their husband and fiancé respectively, but fail to see that things can never go back to way they were. Ben goes off on his own to find the truth about Leonard Peabody, but finds himself at Griddy’s where he sees Hazel kissing Agnes and talks to them about his problems. Agnes gives Ben advice about how he can reconcile with his family by actually giving them time to process him being a time traveling assassin and him telling Five to not feel guilty about causing a rift between him and Vanya and Klaus because it wasn’t Five’s fault that Ben “ran away”.
I’ll continue the rest of the story when I have the time. Right now I just want to post this.

For the ask, 24, 25, 27 to share some love around the fandom, and a ? So you can answer whichever question you'd like? 😍
oh these are so nice! It's a real shame that my fic-reading time has significantly cut down because it became fic writing time, I don't get around to even half the fics I mean to read. That said! Fic reading did happen!
24. favorite fic you read this year
The first fic that comes to mind is Some Kind of Nature by stilitana. I binged all 150k words as fast as I could and loved every second. Loved their take on Ben and the Horror, loved how they interpreted Five's power. Just. Really unique and well written, and not the usual Five-fare I normally read.
25. a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read
This fic is technically a last year fic, but the answer to this is always The Shifting Mirrors by orsumfenix. Fucking love that fic. Love it so much I've written like 200k words of AU for it. Go. Read it. What are you waiting for.
27. favorite fanfic author of the year
hrng picking just one??? Impossible. To keep this from getting obnoxious, here are three authors off the top of my head -- forever and always @assaily (TiredPigeon (TwistedSkys) on ao3, very impatiently waiting for more Tangled in the Hanging Tree). Love @littlerit and her infuriatingly short but still impressive drabbles (and The Time Traveller's Life!), @fernandidilly-yo wrote some great stuff this year (loved Choking on Abundance!)
And author's choice? So kind :) I pick...
13. favorite writing song/artist/album of this year
I have a playlist titled Oh that's specifically for writing emotional angst for Five, but that's not what I'm here to talk about. I stumbled upon In the Best Case Scenario We'd Die at the Same Time by My Name is Ian and it smacked me so hard with Five and Delores vibes that it spawned the whole Five-and-Delores-in-the-apocalypse-fic, that is now at about 25k and fucking climbing. The song just. It works on so many levels for them and Five, it's so sweet and it's so sad. I'm obsessed.

TUA Season 3 AU Fic
This is an fic idea for an AU from the end of season 2 onwards where Ben survived and travelled back with the rest of the umbrellas to the new Sparrow-infested 2019. Because there was so much potential there for an amazing fic:
Ben going ballistic at the mere appearance of his Sparrow self. Seriously he'd hate the guy. Of course Umbrella!Ben's antics and threats towards his alternate self means that Klaus is struggling to keep a straight face during their first meeting.
Oh, who am I kidding, Klaus is rolling on the ground laughing thanks to Umbrella!Ben trying (and failing) to strangle his alternate self.
And despite his brothers pleas Klaus refuses to give away that their Ben is present, going as far as to stop the rest of their siblings from mentioning his ghostly presence to Reginald.
Because, despite Klaus' appearance and most people's general in-universe assumptions of him being an idiot, the guy lived for more than ten years on the streets and for nearly a year in a war zone. You don't achieve that without being somewhat sneaky and he does have a manipulative streak to him as well. He also knows when to keep an ace up his sleeve. It's not a strategy he uses often, his personality isn’t the kind for it, but he knows now that he has too.
Reginald not knowing Ben is there as a ghost gives the Umbrellas a massive advantage against the Sparrows as Klaus is forced to explain to a very upset Ben and his confused siblings later. Because Reginald is aware of the living Umbrellas and their talents, but he was never aware of the seventh member hanging around as a ghost. Ergo, they have the perfect spy.
So Umbrella Ben goes back to the Academy and studies the Sparrows religiously. Gets to know the Sparrows as people, what makes them tick, how they fight, any weaknesses.
What nearly everyone forgets about Ben is that he's not some soft, innocent flower who never did anything wrong. Ben liked doing reckless stunts (he enjoyed the ice cream van stunt), and he could be insensitive, and kinda callous when trying to achieve a goal as well. But he is also very loyal to his family. And the Sparrows are a genuine threat to them. Probably the biggest.
For the first time possibly ever, Ben can do more to protect them than simply unleash the Horror which he hated doing and offering advice that often got ignored. He is the biggest factor that is keeping his family safe, he is their main shield by gathering information.
Of course the Sparrows have no clue just how the Umbrella's are dodging them and figuring out their plans. They've been trained their whole lives to take them down, but the opposite is happening here.
This of course would lead to infighting and suspicions as they all start to turn on each other.
But the Umbrella's are also being the Umbrella's, just because they have an advantage here doesn't mean that they aren't fucking things up for themselves, they are at times after all, their own worst enemies.
Five of course would be trying to figure out a way back to their 2019, possibly involving the Commission. Diego tags along because he's trying to find Lila. (I’m not a fan of the relationship, although I do enjoy Lila’s character, but personally I do think Diego needs some closure from the relationship)
I do see Luther and Sloane forming a cute relationship as unlike the rest of his siblings Luther would understand the Sparrows in a way his own siblings don’t as he gets the loyalty that makes you stay with Reginald even if that's not all you want out of life. (You can't tell me that all Luther wanted with his life was to stay at the Academy. The guy must have had a dream for himself once.) Whereas for Sloane, Luther's proof that it is possible for her to strike out on her own, even with nothing and build a life free of the Academy.
I do see Allison taking the lead here as unlike the others who either don't really have anyone in their timeline (Klaus, Vanya, Five) or if they had, they may already be dead, but Allison has Claire's existence at stake here and you bet that she's going to fight tooth and nail for her baby.
And maybe the Umbrella’s learning to work as a team for the first time in years. Because if they want to get home, then they’re going to have to learn to work as a team properly and trust each other.
Of course it’s not easy. Now the initial joy they had in season two that everyone is alive and safe, they still have to address the issues they have with one another. Unfortunately they don’t just disappear.
Things that should get mentioned: Vanya’s book (still kinda pissed that that was just brushed under the rug), Luther’s past treatment of his siblings (locking Vanya up, choking Klaus, threatening to drop Delores from a height), Klaus and Ben’s issues (they’ll need multiple chapters just for that), not noticing Klaus was kidnapped/tortured/killed, to name but a few.
Of course not everything is solved and hunky-dorey, there’s still massive trauma and decades of bitterness and repressed feelings but they’re exposed and have started to treat the wound properly instead of ignoring it and letting it fester.
I’m picturing a Luther/Sloane dancing scene now like Luther and Allison’s in the Day That Wasn’t (until I looked up Sloane’s actress and found out that she’s the same height as Emmy, I was picturing her to be slightly smaller. Slightly disappointed by that.)
Maybe then the Sparrows find out about her connection with the Umbrella’s and turn on her, thinking her to be the traitor?
I’m drawing a blank as to what happens after that, but for the big showdown, I’m picturing Klaus finally making Ben corpeal and the Sparrows seeing their brother/themselves as a ghost before Umbrella Ben . . . just completely knocks Sparrow Ben out with one good sucker-punch. (Maybe yelling ‘I’m the Alpha here!’ or something similar?)
Ben absolutely kicks his Sparrow counter-part while he’s down too. Hard. Whether it’s his ribs or his balls it’s up to your imagination.
Well that’s all I have. Can’t believe that something that was originally intended to be a small post spawned into this, but I don’t care. If anyone wants to use this idea or even bits of it go right ahead, God knows if it was up to me to complete this won’t be written until season 10.

let's save the world
season one, episode three
five hargreeves x reader
trigger warnings: cursing, a bit of angst if you squint, violence
summary: five gets his apocalypse lover back and the two of you have a small argument. then, when you’re back at the academy, looking around for clues, you have some visitors.
word count: 2.2k
a/n: bro all this support that i’m getting for this series means so much to me ;-; i don’t want to be all sappy but i used to write on wattpad and like it’s hard to get anyone on there to read your stories, but coming on here really just brought my motivation way up because of how nice you all are :) so thank you, and i hope you like the third part of this series *3*
Tumblr media
"you're a fucking idiot." you grumble as you sit at five's side, the medical kit beside you open with it's contents disarranged from the panic you went through as five woke you up, a huge gash in his arm. now, you were helping him clean it up, and you weren't very happy with what he had done with his night.
sighing softly, five glanced at you. "it's not like i died." he defends himself, as if it would help your worrying. "it's just a scratch. it'll heal quick."
glaring at him as you finished stitching him up, you cleaned up all the blood. "’just a scratch’ my ass." throwing the bloodied rag to the side, you grab one of the bandaids, which happened to be designed with 'billy the choo-choo' which would have made you laugh if you weren't angry with him. "all this for a mannequin? seriously?"
that comment irked him, and he stood from the bed, putting his old uniform back on over the tank top he wore. "she's not just a mannequin." he mutters, going to grab the big duffel bag, which you knew 'delores' and various other things were inside.
"i'm glad i didn't go as mad as you." you throw everything back into the box, shutting it and just leaving it on the bed. you knew you'd need it again anyways.
five rolls his eyes as he pushes the window open, and you look at him in confusion. "you above doors now?" you question as he hops out onto the fire escape, quickly following behind.
he looked up at you as he started climbing down the ladder. “we don’t have much time, and this is the quickest way.”
sighing softly, you follow him down, and are met with klaus who was digging through the dumpster. stopping for a moment to look at him, you raise an eyebrow. “having fun?”
he looks to the two of you, a flask in hand as he leans against the edge of the trash. “oh! hey, hey.” he takes a swig, a goofy smile on his face, “you guys need any more company today? i could, uh, clear my schedule.”
five stops just a few feet away, holding onto the straps of the duffel hanging over his shoulders. “looks like you got your hands full.” he nods to the bin he had been digging around in, and klaus pushes himself away from the rim, practically slapping the metal.
“no, no, i can do this whenever. i just-” he suddenly falls down into the dumpster, and you jump slightly, eyebrows furrowing. “i’ve misplaced something.” he calls out as you could hear him rifling around all the trash, and your nose scrunched up at the thought. suddenly he pops back up again, holding up a bagel, taking a bite out of it, “found it!”
you swear you could have thrown up right there. he really was an interesting character. “i’m done funding your drug habit.” the young looking boy says simply, turning on his heel to leave, which you quickly follow.
-
“why are we here again?” you question, leaning back in the seat of the stolen plumbing truck. for some reason, five brought the two of you back to meritech, and you found it useless. “this is a dead end. we don’t know when the eye will be made and we can’t just wait here until the apocalypse comes.”
pursing his lips, five doesn’t take his gaze away from the building as people walk up and down the street, sometimes going inside or leaving. “this eye is our only clue to what makes the world end. we will wait here if it takes the whole week to find out when it’s made and who gets it.”
you groan, letting your head fall back against the cushioned head rest. there was no way in hell that you would wait in this stuffy van for more than a few hours.
slapping your hand against the arm rest, you sit up, “alright, then. you do that.” opening the door, you hop out, looking to five as he finally looks away from meritech.
“where are you going?” he hisses, eyes narrowed in the way that told you he was definitely mad. you just didn’t care at this moment.
brushing your skirt off, you glance around, “i’m not sitting around waiting for something that may not even have anything to do with what happens. so i’m going to look for clues.”
he just looked at you for a moment, obviously in disbelief by what you were saying. “you’re just going to leave me? you don’t trust me?”
at the accusation, you groan. “you’re kidding, right?” you lean against the side of the seat, the door still open next to you. “of course i trust you. i’ve trusted you for over forty years, and sometimes, five, you’re wrong!” you laugh bitterly, motioning to the building across the street. “i’m not going to wait around in hopes that your hunch about this eye is right!”
five just stares at you, eyes slightly widened from your outburst. after a moment, he turns away and looks back to the building. “fine. do what you want.” he mutters, and you almost feel bad about blowing up on him. almost.
“have fun with your mannequin lover.” you grumble, letting the door slam shut behind you as you walk away from the van, determined to figure this out by actually doing something.
-
your day was spent rooting around the academy, looking in every nook and cranny of every single room. the rest of the siblings showed up around noon, and they stood around in the main room, arguing about something that you didn’t care about. it was all useless to you, unless it lead to the end of the world.
now, night had fallen, and you didn’t find a single thing. you thought reginald might have known something. maybe left a clue for the kids to find. but no.
absolutely nothing.
you laid on five’s bed, fingers laced together on your stomach as you stared up at the ceiling. while you were trying to figure out somewhere you might find a hint to what ended the world, you were also worrying about five and how you blew up on him. sure, you two would get over it, but you weren’t sure how angry he was. he could hold grudges, and you knew that very well.
your train of thought was interrupted by gun shots, and your body shot up as your eyes widened. jumping up from the bed, you grabbed the pistol that you had carried around with you from your days at the commission, which you brought with you when you went through that portal. you just hadn’t gotten the chance to use it yet, and you assumed this was it’s shining moment.
running downstairs, the shots got louder, and you cursed under your breath. looking down off the balcony into the main room, where you could see diego curled behind the couch with two people shooting mercilessly at the furniture. before they could notice you, you ran towards the stairs, thinking up a plan for how to deal with this.
they were definitely from the commission. you were absolutely sure of that. the suits they wore, paired with the metallic and colorful animal helmets gave it away. so they were here for you and five. you just didn’t know if they knew of the reverse-aging you guys went through. here’s to hoping.
as you got to the archway, one of the assassins was thrown through it, you barely dodging it as luther followed them out, probably prepared to fight. looking back into the room, you saw allison being choked by the other, and quickly jumped into action.
not wanting to risk shooting the woman, you stick the gun in your skirt’s pocket before jumping onto his back, your hands igniting with flames.
there goes another perfectly good shirt
the burning was enough to get him to let go of allison, but he quickly threw you off of himself, not getting the chance to turn on you as luther came back in and chucked him out the door as well.
all three of the siblings looked at you, breathing heavily and shocked, “what the hell was that?” diego questions, and you groan, pushing your now burnt sleeves up.
“we don’t have time for this right now. let’s deal with these assholes and maybe we can have a nice little pow-wow after.”
the discussion was cut off when the assassins got back up and started firing again, all of you dropping to the floor to avoid the shots and you quickly crawled away, managing to get cover behind the bar. grabbing your pistol, you hear luther and diego shouting at each other and the fire ceases. you assume they scrambled to safety and neither of the assassins wanted to waste bullets.
you heard them converse before they separated, and you noticed one of their shadows approaching from behind the bar. calming your breath, you pull the hammer of the pistol down, hearing the soft click that told you it was ready to fire. as the man rounded the corner, turned away and towards a glass case, you jumped up from your spot, quickly shooting at him and effectively landing a hit on his arm.
with a shout of pain, he turns on you, and though you can’t see his face, you know he’s angry. he holds a mace that he took from the glass case, and you quickly cock the gun again as he makes a move towards you.
“it’s you.” he snarls, and you smirk.
taking a step back, you don’t lower the gun as you grab an empty bottle, “so she did send you.” you state, lunging towards him and smashing the bottle over his head. he stumbled back, the mace swinging around on it’s chain.
a voice calling out from the hall caught your attention, and while he was dazed, you take a glance towards where the arch was, seeing vanya. you curse, taking a shot at the man before sliding over the bar and running to her.
“you can’t be here!” you yell at her, and you’re lucky that luther comes in just in time to stop the man from attacking you once again.
she looked confused, and you didn’t blame her, but you didn’t have time right now. you just had to get her out. you glanced back into the room as the man with the blue helmet lifted luther and threw him to the ground, wincing at the sight.
when he turns to leave the room, you grab vanya and pull her against the wall, steadying your breathing as you somehow managed to go unnoticed when he looked down the halls and turning the other way.
once he disappeared down the hall, you run back into the room to see if luther was okay, not even caring if another attack would happen. as you got to him, the other two came barreling in, allison calling out to him and both of them swinging one of his arms around their shoulders to help him up.
as he stood up, he noticed the woman atop the balcony, a bloodied knife in her hand as she went to cut the rope that held the chandelier up. you didn’t have time to move out of the way and unfortunately luther didn’t have three arms to push all of you away, so it crashed down on both of you, though you got more lucky as it landed on your thigh.
still hurt like a bitch, though.
hissing from the pain, when luther lifts himself up it gives you the wiggle room to pull your leg out from under the chandelier, cursing as you see the blood that surrounds a shard of glass that managed to wedge into the side of your leg.
the room went silent when everyone saw luther’s hairy body, something you never expected to see, and honestly, you wish you didn’t. he runs up the stairs, and you sigh as you fall back, hand wrapped around the glass as you hyped yourself up to pull it out.
a few minutes later, you managed to get the glass out and wrap an old rag around it to hopefully slow the bleeding, and you were ready to pass out from the exhaustion coursing through your veins. you didn’t even care about the fact that your wound may get infected.
you stood from the ground, watching the others as allison and vanya sit down, diego pacing back and forth. when allison asked him if he was okay, he burst, yelling at the two of them before he turned on you. “and what the hell was it that you did?” he hisses, pointing his finger at your singed sleeves, “i don’t remember you having any kind of power like us. so what was that?”
you glare at him, pushing his hand away. “i was lying about the pow-wow.” you state simply before turning away and making your way up the stairs.

The Rewatch Academy: Episode 3 of Season 1
Tumblr media
“Extra Ordinary”
I am in no way a good analyst so my little analysis and speculations probably sound a bit goofy or pretty wild and probably mean nothing at all. Everything I put into this post about each episode is purely what I noticed or thought, whether it's funny or serious. I will be making jokes, so please just leave it at that (in no way am I trying to make fun of an actor and or character!) I am also in no way saying I noticed this stuff first. This is just what I noticed while rewatching these episodes
☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂
1x01 | 1x02 | 1x03 | 1x04 |
☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂ ☂
Tumblr media
☂ First off I’d like to say that this is one of my favorite episodes of this season. It’s just soooo good
☂ The second comic book in the window features the Televator from the actual comics, so that has to be canon in the show! Also at the time that that second comic came out, Five had already left since we don’t see him on the cover
Tumblr media Tumblr media
☂ It’d be cool if they actually printed Vanya’s book for fans to read
☂ Well Diego isn’t wrong when he called Hazel and Cha Cha animals because of their masks
☂ Honestly I feel Vanya’s struggle with chair placement. I’ve fortunately had the luck of playing in all three clarinet chair placements, but 1st chair is challenging. I personally found each placement very fun to play, especially 3rd, and I hope Vanya does too! (why am I talking like she’s real)
☂ Hazel talks about people living ordinary lives, but didn’t he live like that too at one point? How does The Commission recruit people? If they get ordinary people, do they wipe their memories of their previous lives?
☂ “Let’s see’em get out from behind their desks, get their hands dirty for once.” Well Hazel, Five does indeed do this even though he only had a desk job for a day. Still, he got to experience both worlds
☂ My mind is blanking on this, but how did Five get that cut on his arm? Was it from a bullet wound at Gimbel’s?
☂ Five must have a high pain tolerance to stitch his own wound but his bandaid probably wouldn’t stick due to the wet blood he slapped it over. Five sweetie you need a cotton pad and gauze for that one
☂ Wait, you’re telling me that The Umbrella Academy boys’ top uniform consists of a tank top, a white dress shirt, a tie, a sweater vest, and then the blazer? Someone asked Reginald what he wanted for the uniforms and he just said “Yes.”
☂ Five: *puts hands in pockets only to immediately take them out*
☂ Aidan almost sounds like he has an accent when he says “I'm done funding your drug habit.”
☂ Five’s so soft talking to his wife
☂ No Leonard, your bread and butter is being a creep
☂ Also, he thinks wood carving is embarrassing? If someone came up to me and showed me something they carved out of wood I would be so jealous cause it’s such a neat form of art
☂ Leonard saying that he carved wood, and in that case wooden figures, when he was a kid is a slight foreshadow of all of his tampering with his Umbrella Academy figures. He can make wooden figures but he’s also destroyed a handful of the Hargreeves figures
☂ “Never really did like The Beatles.” Well sir you’ve made me dislike you even more
☂ Vanya asking Allison if her siblings wanted her at the family meeting bugs me a bit. I absolutely get that she was literally left out of anything and everything that had to do with her siblings when she was younger, but Allison just asked her to come back home for a family meeting. Allison wouldn't have walked around looking for Vanya only to tell her that they were having a family meeting and that she wasn’t actually invited. Allison is including her in on a family meeting but Vanya is just in a bit of disbelief that she’s being included
☂ Ah yes, the only PTSD flashback for Five we see in the show! He looks so scared when he snaps out of it. I believe it was somehow triggered by the kids (I could be wrong) but do you think Five sometimes panics when he looks at himself in the mirror now since his body is the same age it was when he got stuck? Also it’s very subtle but when Luther opens the door, Five slightly jerks/flinches back. I wish we would see more of this in the show since it’s one of his major traumas
Tumblr media
☂ “Does it matter? It’s Klaus.” Ouch! Well Five I hope you know that your siblings are somewhat thinking the same thing since they believe that you’ve lost your mind and are practically an old man crying “Apocalypse!”
☂ Five does an ever so slight huff and smirk when Luther tells him that the meeting at the Academy is important. He finds it a little funny but so frustrating in his mind that Luther doesn’t know what’s truly important
☂ Also I love that Aidan has to turn to the side so that he can keep it together after Klaus talks about his chocolate pudding waxing. Either that or he’s portraying Five as being frustrated and in disbelief. Also this is the first time I’ve noticed that he says “Ay, ay ay...”
Tumblr media
☂ “We’re all you have. And you know it.” Oh Luther, you’re failing to see that that’s why he’s acting like this right now. He’s all frantic and crazed about trying to stop the apocalypse so that he can protect and save all that he has
☂ Five certainly is mad at Luther during his mini lecture. He’s clenching his jaw tightly and when he first speaks he hisses out the words through gritted teeth. He even called Luther by his number. He’s very impatient at this point and doesn’t care for Luther’s act of attempting to be a leader
☂ This is their first, and certainly not last, time watching Klaus go by in front of them doing something he shouldn’t be doing
Tumblr media
☂ “You haven’t been home in a long time, Vanya.” Sir you were also just on the moon for four years. Yeah Vanya was away for a long time but Grace easily could have changed too during the four years you were gone
☂ How sweet, even though Five hasn’t really been home they want to include him in on the family vote :]
☂ I’ve noticed that in S1 that David really mumbles his lines. A lot
☂ I wish we got more flashbacks of the younger Umbrellas
☂ Diego my beloved mama’s boy ♥️
☂ It’s confusing as to which country TUA takes place in, but it’s really not supposed to be a specific one. It’s portrayed as being in North America, but you can see behind Cha Cha when she gets out of the car at the Academy the flag of the RAF, which Canada would have at a monument since it’s a Commonwealth country. At the same time though Delores came from Gimbels, which was a department store chain across the U.S
☂ The light above Five’s portrait is slightly crooked, which probably means no one has really been paying attention to it
☂ It makes me nervous that Klaus wipes bubbles onto his face. It looks like he got some in his eyes
☂ Ugh I love the whole scene of Hazel and Cha Cha walking around the Academy with “We’re Through” playing
☂ Diego: *has knives but instead chooses to punch and hit Hazel to try to make him let go of Allison”
☂ A rope-a-dope is a boxing tactic of pretending to be trapped against the ropes, goading an opponent to throw tiring ineffective punches. Diego sweetie Hazel wasn’t even trying to get you off of him all he was doing was choking Allison. The only person who got tired was probably you
☂ What’s the point in Diego yelling “Luther, go!” if he’s already going 💀
☂ Luther was there immediately when Hazel attacked Vanya. That means that Luther heard Vanya and was going to go get her to safety
☂ I will never stop signing my praise for the entirety of the “Sinnerman” fight scene(s). It gives me chills every single time. Easily one of the best scenes in all of the show
☂ Klaus must really have his music blasting if he can’t hear the gun shots right next to him
☂ I’ve always wondered if Allison actually registered in her mind that “The boy” is Five when Cha Cha says that’s who they’re looking for. Either she does realize that’s Five, is simply just angry that those two are looking for a boy, or registers in her mind that it’s Five through his superhero codename even though Cha Cha’s not referring to him in that way
☂ Diego is full on just standing in the background watching Allison get beat up by Cha Cha 🕴
☂ I love Diego’s little hand flap when he gets hit in the hand fighting Cha Cha
☂ Okay so I make everything about Five, but the whole Cha Cha fight scene with Allison and then Diego kind of scares me. Cha Cha and Hazel are both amazing assassins (they’re both probably right below Five) and neither Allison nor Diego could stop her by themselves. Could you imagine Five fighting one of his siblings? Especially with his spatial jumps? We already got a glimpse of his true combat skills when he fights Lila in S2. What a scary little old man
☂ “Vanya, get out of here!” Again, wanting to make sure that Vanya is safe and gets away. He even tried to go look for her
☂ Something I don’t really get about the Hazel and Luther fight is why doesn’t Luther just overpower him? Luther has super strength and on top of that he has giant muscles due to the gorilla DNA. Shouldn’t he be able to beat Hazel to a pulp? Maybe we have to consider that Hazel might have been altered by The Commission to be stronger and more durable, but they haven’t mentioned that in the show
☂ “Ah, you gotta cut down on that fast food, soldier.” What are you talking about Diego he literally just got off the moon two days ago aflksjfdk
☂ So Luther was too injured to jump out of the way of the chandelier but was able to push it up off of himself? 🤔
☂ I personally think that Luther’s body design adaptation for the show is really cool and that they gave him the perfect amount of bulk without making him look ridiculous
☂ This has been pointed out before, but cross-stitch foreshadowing, baby
☂ Again, Diego my beloved mama’s boy ♥️
☂ Well at least Diego thought about Vanya dying before thinking about his siblings dying because of her. The latter is ironic!
☂ The clock above Luther’s mirror reads approximately 1:30 am. Hazel and Cha Cha didn’t want to wait until morning
☂ I wonder how different it would be if Five was present at the Academy when Hazel and Cha Cha attacked. He probably would have surrendered himself to them, but it's fun to entertain the idea that he would go apeshit if he knew that they were harming his family in order to find him

I Know That According To The Stats No One Wants My Umbrella Academy Headcanons But I Don’t Care Part One - Number Five
five is afraid of heights. no i do not take criticism.
hargreeves used to throw him off the roof/out of windows to train his jumps and he still gets nervous in high places. he totally doesn’t need to address this. at all.
(his room backs on to the fire escape for a reason)
he found delores really early into the apocalypse, and she was surrounded by other much more destroyed mannequins, who he dubbed her friends and family that she’d lost. he totally didn’t do that because he needed someone who understood what he’d gone through seeing his siblings corpses. nope, definitely not.
after they’ve stopped the apocalypse and he’s having like four panic attacks a day, allison goes to get dolores back from gimble’s like “listen up you need some familiarity during adjustment periods and yes i have been asking my therapist how to deal with you what about it” because she’s literally perfect
delores becomes this weirdly out-of-place sort-of-a-decoration in his room that he talks to when he needs to get something off of his chest. everyone knows he’s having a bad day when he brings her out of his room and they give him some space to deal with things until he’s put her back. after that he’s fair game for mother-henning.
he hates it.
(he doesn’t really.)
on a much brighter note, when he’s not being insulting he’s one of the best people to go to if you need comforting because he will recite statistics at you until you stop feeling bad about yourself.
if not that, he gets genuinely confused at any hint of self-deprecation from his siblings. vanya will be like “i’m not good enough to do this concert” and without missing a beat he will just go “but you’re the best violinist”
he thinks he’s terrible at comforting his family but it is actually pretty reassuring to hear their thirteen-year-old fifty-eight-year-old brother insist that they’re good at [insert thing here] like it’s an indisputable fact.
when they were kids he used to do all his maths while vanya was practising her violin. he still has a pavlovian response to her playing and immediately goes for pen/pencil so he can get to it.
he sits outside her room while she plays still and she finds him so often that she offers to teach him
he tries for half an hour before very quietly handing the violin back and vanya’s like “no, you were doing amazing” (he wasn’t) and he says, very very calmly, “vanya, if you don’t take this violin back now i will smash it over my own head out of rage.”
they don’t try again.
he gets along better with eudora patch than he does with any of his siblings and if he didn’t look twelve diego would be very jealous because patch adores him.
(patch mostly adores him because he can tell her the difference between a commission-related cold case and a ‘no one ever caught this guy’ cold case)
he and patch get lunch once a fortnight so she can run any new ‘unsolveables’ past him and he structures his entire week around them because It Would Be Rude To Cancel, Klaus
after about two months he just goes “could you get married to diego, please? it would be nice to have a competent sibling” and patch nearly chokes on her sandwich
Five You Can’t Just Say Shit Like That She’s Going To Hate Me Now says diego
Actually She Wanted To Know If You’re Free Next Thursday At Eight, So Clear Your Schedule says five, looking way too smug
five pretends to be actually thirteen in court to help allison get partial custody of claire and does an unnervingly good job.
(he also calls in a favour from patch to get her to give an ‘impartial’ character statement)
when he was in the apocalypse five used to hum the songs vanya learned on violin because he was always a little bit worried he’d forget them
also every time he found pictures of allison from intact magazines he’d rip them out and shove them in vanya’s book.
okay i’ve made myself sad and i’m out of happy headcanons so this is over

I am a firm believer that the only reason the apocalypse happened in the original timeline (by original timeline I mean the one that season 1 takes place in) is because Five wasn’t there to stop it.
After Klaus confronts Five about his addiction to the apocalypse, Five realizes that Klaus is right and 1. throws and shatters the eye, and 2. goes to the department store to return Delores. While he is at the department store, Vanya comes home and Luther locks her up. Klaus, Diego, and Allison all protest but are unable to get Vanya out of the chamber. There’s a couple possible reasons:
1. None of them were strong enough to open the chamber - only Luther and Pogo could, and now Pogo is too old to do so, so Luther is the only one capable of it.
2. None of them would be able to get past Luther to do it - Allison is incapacitated as far as rumoring and is obviously physically weak from nearly dying. Klaus is probably still going through withdrawal and we saw in an earlier episode that Luther is fully capable and willing to throw Klaus across a room and/or choke him. Klaus does not have control is his new ability and thus cannot use a ghost to overpower Luther or open the door. Diego is the only one who might’ve been able to help, but interestingly enough this is the one time he doesn’t challenge Number 1 as much as he usually does. Possibly because of reason #1, or because he while he can take Luther in a fight, it would be hard to incapacitate him for long enough to open the door, considering that Luther can literally take a missile to the back and come out without a scratch. Or Diego doesn’t think it’s super high stakes for now and is unwilling to physically fight Luther about it, or he is planning to come back later when Luther is gone to try and open the door. It’s unlikely he doesn’t want to get Vanya out - he did argue with Luther/stand with Klaus and Allison on that.
So none of the siblings are able to get Vanya out, whatever the cause. Five is the one most suited to the job (he could literally just blip in, grab Vanya, and blip out). Five is also the one who is most likely to do this because he is 100% willing to stand up to and defy Luther - he isn’t afraid of him and could easily take him out - and Vanya is the sibling he is closest and most attached to. If Five hadn’t been at the department store to return Delores, the apocalypse wouldn’t have happened.
It is devestatingly sad to me that Five finally got to relax, he was thinking about his future and how to heal, and he was leaving behind the most important coping mechanism he has in a first step towards healing from his (heaps of) trauma. And literally as that is happening, the very thing he’s trying to let go of occurs. It’s especially terrible because he could’ve stopped it.

dolly’s- chapter two
BUCKY BARNES X READER
SUMMARY: you and bucky make up woohoo
WARNINGS: reference to the reader’s abuse (not that bad tho) there might be like one bad word idk
The next morning was rough. You were at Dolly’s at 6 am, scrubbing the scratched coffee pot as if you were attempting to scrub everything about the day before from your memory. You could still hear Colonel Phillips’ gruff voice in your memory, see your father’s journal in his hand, feel the fear that replaced the rage you’d been harboring when he explained his knowledge of your “abilities,” as he delicately put it. He’d lectured you like you were a toddler, describing how you could be key to winning the war, how you could help some guy named Erskine finish some serum of some sort if you’d let him experiment on you. Your blood ran cold at that, as memories came rushing back full of bloodied syringes containing odd-colored, swirling substances, hard, unforgiving treadmills, and your father’s harsh face glaring down at you, voice full of malice as he spat, “You were meant to be the perfect human! Not some housewife!”
Phillips noticed the change in your demeanor and stopped speaking. It would be hard not to notice, not when you were staring past him, eyes wide and empty, skin pale and ghostly. Your eyes snapped back to focus on him shortly, and you paused for a second before asking, “How’d my father die?”
Phillips froze at that. It wasn’t the question itself that gave him pause, it was the way you asked it. There was no emotion in your voice or gaze when you asked, just cold resolve. A need to know, simply for the sake of knowing.
“Kidnapped and tortured by Hydra, Hitler’s science division. When he refused to disclose your location, they shot him.”
You nodded. Some part of you deep inside that you’d tried to kill long ago wanted to feel bad, wanted to say he died for your sake, and yet you keep on hating him. What kind of daughter does that make you? But one act of kindness couldn’t even begin to heal the scars he’d dug into your skin, literally and metaphorically.
You told Phillips to give you a time and place, and you’d be there.
Bucky breezed into Dolly’s just past 7, like always, with Steve not far behind. You handed Steve the coffee you’d brewed for him, a steaming red mug with two spoonfuls of sugar and three spoonfuls of milk, the way he liked it. Crossing your arms and leaning them over the white ceramic countertop to look at Bucky, you asked, “Whaddya want, Barnes?” Your lips were pulled into a small frown, and one eyebrow was cocked as you gave him a challenging glare.
“Not even a hello, doll?” the subject of your anger challenged, smiling brightly as he leaned towards you. You sighed and straightened, turning around to grab a rag and clean the same mug you’d cleaned twelve times already, just to look busy.
“You couldn’t even spare me a call last night, plus you stood up me and Steve! So I apologize if I’m not in the best mood, James!” You yelled. “Which girl did you blow us off for this time? Carlotta? Rita? Delores?”
Bucky looked genuinely sad, and you almost felt bad for what you’d said. “I swear I didn’t mean to this time, Becca was sick and I stayed home to take care of her. And I was gonna call, but she needed her rest, and I didn’t want to risk waking her up.”
Oh god.
“Sorry,” you muttered.
Bucky merely shrugged, and told you what he wanted to drink. As you made it, you could hear the jingle of the bell atop the door, signaling Steve’s exit as he murmured a soft, “See ya later, Y/N.” You slid Bucky’s mug across the counter and he grabbed it, staring down it for a second.
“What’s a guy gotta do to take you out, doll?”
Bucky’s words froze you, like ice, crawling up your body until you couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think.
But the anger, the flames that were still burning inside you melted the ice away as you replied, “Maybe start with not standing me up.”
He chuckled, but then met your eyes as he said, “I’m serious, doll. I wanna take you out on a date, just you and me.”
You shook your head, muttering, “No you don’t. You want a girl that you can go on one date with and then forget about, Barnes. And I’ve got no intentions of letting any guy do that to me.”
Bucky scoffed at that. “Doll, I-”
“Stop it,” you barked sharply.
“What?”
“Don’t call me doll like there’s really something between us, Buck, not when you’re running around with every girl in Brooklyn! You know, I waited for years for the right moment to tell you I liked you, but it never came! You wanna know why? Because you-” you pointed a finger to his chest accusingly “ -couldn’t care less about a girl’s feelings! You just act like they never existed, like you never cared.” You angrily swiped an arm across your nose, and sniffed, trying to hold onto what little composure you had left. “And I would’ve rather stayed friends instead of risking it all for one date, but lately it’s like you don't even want to be friends with me.”
Bucky let you yell at him, and took it. He didn’t try to defend himself, or tell you how whatever you were feeling was your own fault, something you’d always admired him for doing. Really, why couldn’t every guy have that same amount of respect when a girl spoke? The conflicting feelings you felt towards Bucky confused you. Your heart was tearing itself in two, both wanting to run to Bucky, hug him, and agree to go out with him and wanting to ignore him for the rest of your lives.
Eventually Bucky spoke. “I’m sorry.”
You looked up, preparing to yell at him more when he held his hand up to stop you. “You had your turn, now it’s mine.”
You pursed your lips, and he continued. “You’re right about those other girls. If I’m honest, I never liked any of them. Really, I just hoped one of them would be good enough that I could get over you, but none of them were. And believe me, I’m sorry I stopped hanging out with you and Steve. Seeing you just hurt, knowing you’d never like me back. I just wasn't used to feeling this way around a girl.”
You met his eyes and tilted your head to the right slightly in a silent question, but then the meaning behind his words dawned on you. After all, he was James Barnes. Practically every girl in New York threw themselves at his feet. He’d never had to deal with rejection. Before you could stop it, a laugh bubbled up from your throat, and Bucky’s head that was hanging dejectedly shot up. “What?”
“It’s just funny,” you choked out in between laughs. “You’ve never been rejected by a girl, have you?”
Bucky glared playfully, but his stern gaze was offset by the bright, lopsided grin gracing his face. “C’mon, doll, don’t be the first.”
“Fine,” you said, feigning residual anger. “One date.”
Bucky leaned over to kiss your cheek, then practically bolted out the diner, grinning like a maniac. “I’ll be at your apartment at 6 tomorrow!” He called over his shoulder as the door slammed shut.
You smiled, pressing a hand lightly to where you could still feel Bucky’s lips. It was the first time you’d been kissed by a boy, if you were honest. Most men wanted a perfect housewife who’d cook, clean, and look after the children, but you wanted more than that from life. You wanted a partner who saw you as an equal, someone who’d share your dreams of adventure and glory. You wanted to be free, free from a world where you were seen as second-rate simply because you were a girl, free from the scars of your father’s experimentation, and free from the SSR, who currently wanted to do just what your father had done to you.
Sacrifices were necessary, and helping Dr. Erskine with his Super Soldier serum could be your only way of moving up in the world. If it got you out of a dead-end job running a diner, you were willing to endure whatever was thrown at you. Hopefully, Erskine would be a bit nicer than your late father was.
The black phone mounted on the back wall of the diner rang, and you ran to it in less than a second, simply a blur and rush of wind to anyone unlucky enough to spot you. Wrapping a hand around it, you took a deep breath, screwing your eyes shut, and praying it wasn’t Colonel Phillips again.
It was.
The second you lifted the phone to your ear, his loud voice resounded through the speaker, informing you that Erskine would be working with the SSR in a base in New Jersey, and that they’d need you there in a week.
You felt the beginnings of a stress headache pull at your head as you hung up, letting your head hit the cool wall and stay there, until the clock by the door chimed brightly, cheerfully informing you that it was opening time. God, it was only 7:30?
~~~
The rest of the day went without a hitch, until an angry woman demanded that you switch her seat with two patrons that were regulars at your diner. When you refused to move her seat, she left in a huff, dragging her two whining children behind her.
“Sorry, Bonnie,” you said, turning to the pair that had just been yelled at. “You too, Ralph. Anything I can do for you?”
“How about dancing with us tonight?” Bonnie questioned. Her eyes shone with mischief as she spoke. Bonnie was one of those girls who could make a story about what she ate for breakfast sound like an odyssey, and make the room shake when she spoke. You couldn’t help but love her.
“You know I’m busy, Bonnie.”
Ralph murmured something, but Bonnie spoke over him, saying, “Busy with Bucky? I saw him and Steve today, and all Bucky would talk about was you! Did ya finally tell him how you feel?”
“More or less,” you muttered, as the remaining girls in the diner turned to stare at you, no doubt wondering why Bucky wanted you, but you paid them no attention. You had nothing to prove to those sycophants.
Bonnie stood up and scooped you up in a hug that gave you a mouthful of her dark curls, before whispering in your ear, “I’ve got somewhere to be with my man, so I can’t stay.” She smiled devilishly, before grabbing Ralph’s wrist and pulling him off to who-knows-where.
You glanced towards the beat-up clock, and seeing that there were only two more people eating, you decided to let yourself close up early, to give yourself time to think. Bonnie always seemed to make her way into your mind at times like these. Even when the world tried to hold her back because of her gender, she loved herself with a fierce passion you could only hope to achieve someday. It was infectious, really, the way she carried herself, and the laughter that always seemed to precede her wherever she went. You tried your best to be like her, but you’d always been a bit more solemn than her, and more of a dreamer at the same time. She was content with the way her life was, refusing to let herself make expectations for the future that might not be achieved. Although you didn’t understand her, you loved her all the same.
~~~
The next day was Saturday, so you didn’t have to work. Instead, you spent the morning in your apartment with Bonnie, dancing like idiots to Bing Crosby on the radio and trying to pick an outfit for your date with Bucky. Eventually Ralph came knocking on your door, wondering where Bonnie was. Bonnie tried to stifle a laugh as Ralph grumbled, “She didn’t even tell me she was leaving to go someplace!”
“Well, at least I know he misses me when I’m gone,” Bonnie giggled as she left, but not before telling you exactly which outfit to wear to get Bucky’s attention.
When Bucky showed up at your apartment, just a few minutes early, you were wearing a cherry-red dress with a skirt that stopped just above your knees, with white socks and black shoes, and lipstick that matched your dress. Bucky wore brown pants, with a white button-down tucked in, and the sleeves rolled up just past his elbows. His hair was slicked back in that way you always made fun of him for, but secretly adored. The cherry on top, however, was the bouquet of your favorite flowers he held out to you. You were unable to move, utterly captivated  by the man in front of you. Everything about him was perfect. The comfortable silence lingered until he said, “Are you gonna keep me waiting, doll?”
“With that attitude, Barnes, I just might,” you replied with a smirk. You took the flowers from him with one hand, and the other grabbed his arm to pull him inside while you gently placed the flowers in a small vase you had on the table, throwing away the sunflowers that had previously resided there.
“What’d they ever do to you?” Bucky asked, smiling. Both of you had dopey, lovesick grins on your faces that felt like they’d never fade.
“They took the spot that was obviously for whenever you decided to bring me flowers,” you responded with a sly glance his way.
~~~
An hour later, you two were running around the fair like madmen, stopping every few minutes so you could buy more and more sugary treats. By now, you were trying to hold cotton candy, ice cream, a slice of apple pie, and a hot dog all at once.
“Need help, doll?” Bucky asked, cocking an eyebrow.
“No!” you exclaimed between heaving breaths as you tried to run while keeping your food from falling.
He shrugged, feigning indifference, but you could clearly tell that he was getting a kick out of watching you struggle.
A few minutes later, you conceded. “Bucky! Stop being a waste of space and help me with this!”
He scoffed, but you knew he’d help you no matter what you said. Bucky was loyal to a fault.
The rest of the night felt like a montage of happy moments from a sappy movie you’d go see with Steve or Bonnie, but you weren’t complaining. You were dashing around on a sugar high, dragging Bucky with you everywhere you went. He almost told you to slow down at one point, but couldn’t bring himself to when he saw how happy you looked.
He hadn’t seen you smile so much in years.
You felt like a schoolgirl on the playground, running around from stall to stall, then to the ferris wheel. The second you two were in the air, Bucky’s blood ran cold when he realized how bad of an idea taking you on it was.
You were practically vibrating in your seat because of how much sugar you had. Or maybe you were vibrating. He’d never seen you do it before, but he figured if you just moved back and forth fast enough, you could probably do it.
Eventually, you stopped, then yawned, and he knew what was coming next. Before he could even offer his jacket to you, you’d gotten up from your seat, moved to his, snuggled up underneath his arm, and fallen asleep.
Do you ever slow down? He found himself wondering.
When the ride came to a close, he picked you up bridal style and carried you back to your apartment, gently shaking you to wake you up when you arrived. Groggily, you swatted his hand away.
“Y/N? Doll, can you get your key for me?” Mumbling under your breath, you pulled your apartment key out of your skirt pocket and handed it to him. You turned your head, ready to fall asleep against his chest, when he set you down to unlock the door. You wanted to be mad, but just didn’t have the energy.
He gently took your hand and led you inside, turning the lights on as he did. Then he stopped, seemingly unsure of what to do now.
You hesitated, switching your weight from one foot to another.
Eventually, you worked up the guts to ask, “Do you want to stay the night?”
Bucky paused, then nodded, taking his jacket off and setting it on the counter. He’d stayed the night at your apartment before, but it was always as friends, and Steve was usually there too.
“I’m tired,” you muttered.
Bucky laughed, and responded, “I can tell, doll.”
You tried to ignore the feeling that blossomed in your chest when he called you doll, then realized that you didn’t have to anymore. You debated telling him what you thought of the nickname, then realized he probably knew. Bucky knew you better than you knew yourself.
You gasped, and your eyes grew as wide as saucers as you realized that you hadn’t told him about Colonel Phillips.
“What?” Bucky asked. “Do I look that bad?”
You shook your head, and then said, “I have something to tell you.”
Five and the Commission
The Apocalypse
I am not going to talk much about the specifics of the Apocalypse in terms of how it affected Five. This is purely a Commission headcanon. Five was spotted in the Apocalypse in 2019. The Commission watched him grow up alone, and watched him unhealthily cope with that for forty five years. They had multiple chances to come to him, and they didn’t until he was older, far older. He was past his prime, which is his late 20s and early 30s. They purposely waited in order to make him more compliant. They knew in his prime he’d be too good, as a kid they couldn’t break him, so they allowed him to break before getting him. And by they I mean AJ and the Handler.
His Contract
Five’s contract is very standard with five years of work, then retirement and pension. However, he has a clause that he didn’t catch. Its a clause about experimentation that was added in. He read it initially and asked about specifics, but was lied to. It was told to him that it was for medical check ups, and to get his body back in working order. He thought it would be healing his lungs, and healing things from the Apocalypse, and it was for the most part. But there was so much more.
“You made me a killer.” - AJ and the Handler
I want it to be very clear that I use both AJ and the Handler to be responsible for what happened to Five. While he doesn’t eat AJ after the assassination of the board of directors, he definitely contemplates it very hard. But more on that later.
Training
Upon learning a bit about him, from what little they could glean from the Infinite Switchboard, and from what little Five will actually tell them they know they don’t need to train him that much. He doesn’t even go through orientation. He doesn’t need to. They don’t see the need to waste resources on him. His powers offer him a special advantage to anything they throw at him. He is trained to fight, and while at the beginning he needs some polishing. There is know denying that he is very very good. He always has been. The original pilot script shows us that Five has always been deadly, and deadly accurate, and knows how to utilize his abilities to the maximum in a fight. Because of this Five did not have much training, which puts him at an advantage. While he doesn’t have commission training he knows how commission agents fight and uses that against them. They do not know how he fights, this is proven with Lila he has not truly won a fight against him. She underestimates him.
Part of his training also included a really horrible experience of desensitization. Five is not one to like touch. He never has liked it. The only people who get any sort of pass for touching him is his family. So no the Handler does not even get a pass, he hates her doing it. But not only did they deal with his hatred of touch, they also needed to get him used to people, and learn to act properly. Needless to say it works well enough that Five can act the part. Five might be an old man but his maturity is very much stunted to his teenage years. He can act older though, he can act his age. It just took a while. But the training with touch was almost as bad as the DNA procedure. AJ invited people to hug him and touch him, and Five was not allowed to say no, no matter what, or they would start over. This is where Five’s hatred of AJ truly stems from.
DNA Modification
Five’s DNA modification was definitely spear headed by the Handler. She greatly influenced AJ into okaying the procedures. However it was AJ that delivered the news to Five, and it was AJ that that was there during the whole thing. It was AJ that first called him the perfect assassin. The Handler was the one that was far too gleeful at it all. The Handler may have made him a killer, but AJ is not innocent at all. He took it farther because of the use of his abilities.
Five did not consent to the DNA modification. Five consented to medical procedures to make him better after his time in the Apocalypse. Five would have never consented to the DNA modification. But they had to get him on the table already so they went ahead with it. Five’s body does not handle regular medicine well. He has to be awake for most procedures he goes through. The DNA modification is the most painful thing he has ever experienced. His internal organs become external as part of the procedure.
Five will claim that it is painless, he will claim that he is fine. But he is anything but. He is irate that this happened in the first place. The first thing he does is kill the head surgeon, by choking the man with a rubber glove, he then goes after the nurse by stabbing her to death with a needle. It was all he was allowed to do before he was reigned in. Before the Handler and AJ stepped in and took control of the situation.
Now Five kills the surgeon and the nurse, yes, however it is not immediately after the procedure. It is actually a while later, after he does a mission dealing with serial killers, and AJ reveals to him just what happened and why he needed to get the DNA. Time is a strange thing after all, he needed to get the DNA so they would have it for the surgery. There is a reason Five struggles so much with keeping time while at the Commission.
Now when it comes to side effects the biggest one is that each month he has an urge that makes him more enraged. He has desires to kill that he can’t even describe where they come from or why he wants to. They are just there. And he does not distinguish between friend or foe. He hates it, and has gone through extreme measures to not kill during this time despite that is all he wants to do.
The Perfect Assassin
Five’s DNA mixing with the serial killer DNA is not entirely what makes him perfect, it is what allows him to have a perfect record. Five’s abilities and training is what make hims a perfect assassin. Reginald says it himself after seeing Five train that Five was perfect.
The DNA ensure a perfect kill rate. The DNA is all the successful serial killers in the world, from past, present and future. This means that he has Harold’s DNA in him, among others. Five absolutely refuses to talk about this. He hates this part of himself. Not only is his older body not his, but it is invaded by something that is distinctly not him. In this way he gets Luther’s transformation more than anyone.
Five makes a very good assassin because as he says it, it is never personal for him. For him it has always been a job. He does not take things to heart. He is able to compartmentalize the killing away from his emotions which he already struggled with in general, but that’s small and minimal. The point is, he is perfect because he can separate himself from the job which many can’t do as we see in Lila.
Five rarely wore a mask. He almost never got close enough to his targets for the need of one. When he did have a mask though, when it was required his animal was a monkey, a Gorilla to be specific. It was mainly red, with teal accents and yellow. It ironically reminded him a bit of Luther which only made him not like wearing it. He didn’t like reminders of his family in his work at all because he would not muddy those waters.
The Handler
Five and the Handler have a very long and complicated relationship, in the sense that anything longer than five minutes is long for Five. He may be “amazing” with telling time, and be able to see it and its fabric, but he is always running out of it. He is someone who goes from point a to point b very quickly. Five moves as if there isn’t enough time, so in terms of relationships he has known the Handler a long time. Now she doesn’t hold a candle to Delores, but no one really does.
The Handler is the one who spear heads watching Five in the apocalypse. AJ wants to bring him in sooner than when they do. But after a few choice words, its decided to leave him there to make sure he is true Commission material. They grab him at a time to distract him enough the equation he almost has perfected.
She is instrumental in breaking him. Her words are her main weapon, but she uses them to liberally and it is her own undoing with Five if we are honest. She tells him too much and he uses it against her. She has a thing with underestimating him. She always has. After all only she would think that just because Five is past his prime, and older that he wasn’t as much of a little shit as he always was.
The Handler has an unhealthy infatuation with Five. Its weird enough that she saw him grow up, but she made advances, none of which he returned. But he absolutely hates it. He never gives her any reaction though and unfortunately that does not stop her. This continues on, and becomes weird when he goes back to his thirteen year old body. He is not going to say it is weird though, he has no real idea if it is not. But anyone else can see that it is.
Coworkers - Hazel, Cha Cha, the Swedes
Five is acutely aware of the top assassins in the field. They are beneath him. Some are messier than others, but he has run across Hazel and Cha Cha before. He was sent in to clean up after they didn’t finish a job. The ones Hazel lets get away, he finished. That was very early on in his career before he was given more responsibility.
When it comes to the Swedes, Five is well aware of who they are long before he sees them in action. He may not have seen them before, but they have a reputation. Every top assassin does, none as infamous or famous as Five’s. The thing is, when you are at the top you know your competition. Five might have never enjoyed killing, but he is well aware he is good at it. He knows who is at the top with him. That includes the Swedes.
When it comes to knowing how assassins and temporal agents are trained. Five knows because he too trained. It was one of the reasons he was able to spot Lila. We know she was trained on the same course in the same manner that agents were. While Five also has this training, he also had Reginald’s training. He is different, and thus better. Five has an eye for people who are like him in the Temps Commission. He always will have this eye. And he always will be able to tell an agent from a non-agent. There is a reason he is suspicious of Diego being head hunted.
His Notable Jobs and Length of Time There
Five was at the commission for four and a half years. However when you are in the Commission and outside of time it is hard to keep track of. Five actually only thinks he was there for a year at most. In reality that is not the case at all. And the fact that he struggles with keeping up with that math, it is used against him. The Handler is more willing to use it against him than AJ was. However AJ signed off on it. There was one point in time where they both tried to extend Five’s contract time because they did not want to lose their best agent while they had him under their thumb. Jokes on them he’s never been under their thumb. Five was playing the long con.
Five’s style on jobs is very clean. He keeps himself as far away from his marks as possible. He does his best to leave as little damage as possible. Hazel and Cha Cha leave a trail of bodies, Five does not do this. It is part of how he compartmentalizes things, but he also doesn’t find himself needing to go after extra people to find his mark so easily. He is an assassin, his chosen gun is a sniper rifle, we know this from canon. The cleaner the shot, the farther away he has to be the better.
Mr. Briefcase
So as we all know there is a training footage character named Mr. Briefcase. This character is in fact voiced by Five. The modulate his voice a bit to make him just slightly unrecognizable. Five did this voice over early on in his time at the commission. When he was still training to be an Assassin. It was when he wasn’t at liberty to say know to what was asked of him.
Hindenburg
Five plays to parts in the Hindenburg disaster. First we know that from the end of Season One he is there when it goes down, and is there to ensure it goes down. He is the one that takes out the Butcher. He also watches over a few other things as well.
However in Season 1 we also know that Five is responsible for finding out who is most likely going to be responsible for it to go down. Five finds this person, deems them significant to maintaining the correct timeline.
This should create a paradox because Five carries out his own order, but time at the commission is fudgey at best so he can’t actually say it would cause a paradox. But it is something worth noting. It also indicates just how capable Five is. Five is not just the best assassin the Commission has ever seen, and in the timeline, but Five is also the best at probability maps in the Commission, he works too well as a caseworker. He is too good for the Commission.
Kill Order 743
Five does not often remember details about his missions. He has gone on so many, among other reasons. He doesn’t remember names. Those don’t stick with him. He remembers small details, like the fact that Lila’s parent’s were florists. He does not remember immediately the hot tying. And had it been any other job, he wouldn’t have even entered the house. He is first and foremost an assassin. He would have taken them both out with a bullet. The only reason he got up close and personal with them was because of the Handler.
At the time of executing the Kill Order, he found it very weird that she went with him. He knew she had a weird obsession with him, that had always been there. She claimed it was because she wanted to see him work. He didn’t question it. But he definitely found it odd. He didn’t like it. He’s an analytical guy he could not figure out what these two florists had to do with the timeline and that bugged him. He also knows he left one person alive, Lila. And he couldn’t figure out why he should leave her alive, but he followed his orders. He wasn’t ready to break his contract yet, and certainly not in front of the Handler.
Dallas
The Dallas job has two parts. We have the original time in Dallas which goes to plan, well Five’s plan. He arrives a few hours before Kennedy’s assassination. He eats lunch at an Irish pub, and then goes to the fence behind the grassy knoll. As he is lining up his shot, that is really just there for back up in case things go wrong, he steps away. He puts his gun up, looks at what he is leaving behind, and takes Vanya’s book out of his own brief case. it is all he needs from his stuff, or all he thinks he will need. He closes his fists and opens up the portal, he projects his consciousness across time and jumps forward, but also forgetting himself in the equation thus messing it up and become thirteen again.
The second time in Dallas is very much the same but he has to deal with his older self. And honestly its a bit of a shit show. However, he goes through the portal thinking he has the right equation but he realizes as soon as Klaus asks about little Five, that he was lied to by his older self, which is embarrassing but he should have seen it coming.
Paradox Psychosis is something that is more or less at the front of all the Commission handbooks that the agents get. It is something they have to be well aware of because in the past the Commission has lost agents due to Paradox Psychosis. Five has seen agents get it, despite the Commission being careful to not send agents to where they would be discovered by themselves, it happens from time to time. Five was truly not lying when he said it was the worst case he had ever seen, he was also referring to himself though Luther does not know this. The main reason why everything is exaggerated on Five, the stages are faster, is because of Five’s own ability to time travel. It works oddly with things misplaced in time, such as another version of himself.
When it comes to the handbook as mentioned above, like Cha Cha, Five has the whole thing memorized cover to cover. He didn’t need some of the more intricate details that Cha Cha quoted because he kept his distance from his targets and truly was an assassin. But he did use it when he had to.
Breaking the Contract and the Equation
The main reason Five breaks his contract is that he figures out the equation. He finally has a perfect opportunity to do it. Partially because his job isn’t necessarily to kill Kennedy but ensures that Kennedy gets killed, and that Ruby gets framed for killing Oswald.
Five again is not aware of how long he has actually been working for the Commission because he goes in and out of the timeline all the time, and in doing that your physical ageing halts a bit. He has actually been gone longer than forty five years, and actually closer to fifty, and is in fact actually in his 60s by the time he comes to his siblings but he does not know that, because he struggles with keeping up with counting his time at the commission. Things tend to get fuzzy because of the whole serial killer DNA thing.
The equation is something he had been working on for years. He has been working on the correct math and the different ways to project his consciousness since he was in the Apocalypse. Delores often helped him. The fact that she is not there when he figures it out is upsetting, but its also part of the reason he does the math wrong. However, its not completely wrong. He thinks it is when in fact his body in 2019 is thirteen. It wasn’t really a decimal point that needed to be moved. Older Five lied. Because he cannot give the truth otherwise the timeline will still unravel itself. Older Five played Old Five like a fiddle because Five knows Five better than anyone.
The equation was wrong, but not in the sense of a missing decimal point, it was more complex than that because their is a natural instinct part that was missing out of the equation. That is what was wrong. And Five knows this upon returning in his thirteen year old body. Delores says the equations are off, because Five doesn’t factor himself and his instincts in which as we know ( per my headcanons ) tends to be his downfall in doing equations.
Management - New Body
The new body five wants, and the one that is offered two him are two different things. He wants his ideal body, the one in his prime. He wants his body aged the same as his siblings. The body that he would be getting is the old body, and while he is okay with that, he knows its not ideal. He knows its being offered because they want to utilize him again.
Five’s body is used against him constantly in the commission. The most notable of this is when the Handler gives him a suit that is two big a way to entice him to getting a body that he is at least slightly more comfortable in. It is a small ( very small ) part in why he doesn’t stick around for the new body. His family and the end of the world are more important than his own comfort. But additionally he knows he wont be happy in the body that is being promised to him. So he keeps up the ruse. He acts like he wants it, like the Handler is playing him.
Dot and Herb
Five despite popular belief actually does not mind Herb. He may seem like a bit of a mess, but Herb has already proven himself to be a big fan of the Hargreeves, Five in particular. Five appreciates Herb because he is careful and isn’t afraid to take his time. Something that Five while he technically has at the commission also he doesn’t have. This is why Five thinks Herb will be fine if he gets the job as Head of the Commission.
Dot however is a very different situation. Five was ready to be indifferent to her, and hate her simply because she was far too pleasant for him. She was not a sibling he did not care. However, the Handler set him up to hate Dot. No matter what Dot does she will never be truly liked by Five. She spotted him in 2019 and did nothing. At least that is what Five thinks, even though he knows it was AJ and the Handler who ordered her to do nothing, and just to watch him for 45 years. But her inaction and unwillingness to go against them for the sake of a kid who saw his family dead and buried them he will never truly like Dot no matter what she does. He does not share this with Diego though. He couldn’t.
Destroying the Tubes and Briefcase Room
Five has never been to the Tube room specifically he knows the basics of how they work considering he has received multiple messages himself.
He has been to the Briefcase Room as implied by the Handler. The Briefcase room does not house all the Briefcases, nor is it where they are created. It is simply a place for primed briefcases to be taken on missions. There is a whole bureaucratic set up, from case return, to repair and such. He has alot of experience with the briefcases, and has been shot at, hence how he knows that there is a repair room for them. He also has told them improvements for the briefcases, namely to make them bullet proof. Of course they don’t listen because the Commission is full of idiots if you ask Five who wouldn’t listen to a good idea if it literally blew them up.
Destroying them both was a desperation move, and in true Five fashion a way to stick it to the Commission for all the shit the put him through. It was one way get out some of his anger at the Commission. It wasn’t perfect, but it left a message. And honestly the fact that Five is still semi respected and feared despite what the Handler says shows that he was pretty justified in it. After all it is a known secret about what the Commission did to Five.
The Infinite Switchboard
Five knows the Infinite Switchboard, and he is in fact one of the few qualified to operate it. He knows what it takes, and just how delicate it is. He only operated once, and under supervision because AJ wouldn’t allow him otherwise. AJ did not want him viewing his family in the present or future, or at all really. Five was tasked with ironically finding some Serial Killers that were never officially caught or killed, and thus he was to kill them himself, and also bring back DNA. And he honestly hates how he has a hand in his own creation. Of course he doesn’t realize it until later.
Assassination of the Board
The assassination of the Board of Directors was not strictly a commission job but it does deal with the Commission and Five’s connection with them so its included. Five knows the Board of Directors is important, and he knows that technically at one point The Handler was on the board, but she was also demoted. In all honesty he should have killed her as well but she’s lucky.
Five does not enjoy the killing of the Board. He may smile but this is the serial killer DNA in him. This him compartmentalizing everything. Five is a quick effective killer, and the Assassination of the Board shows that. So does his killing in Griddy’s. But Five does not enjoy it. He is just very good at it. Five smiles because killing is a bit exhilarating for him. But he does not take joy in it. He finally gets to let out so much rage. Killing the Board is another way to stick it to the Commission in part.
When it comes to AJ though Five wants to kill him. He is very close to doing it when he bags him up. In fact he gives AJ a piece of his mind when he is bagging him up to give to the Handler. It is a moment when Five is truly unhinged. He has never been more angry. He finishes by telling AJ he is lucky that its not him, but he’ll have wanted it to be Five. And yes Five yells this all as he is putting a fish in a bag, and he doesn’t stop until he has time to think in the alley before he hands the bag to The Handler.
Five’s Secrecy
Five doesn’t tell his siblings for various reasons. Five’s time at the Commission is very traumatic for him. But he does open up about it very selectively, and it is when he thinks his siblings will believe him, and to be honest they don’t have the best track record of that. Five wants to tell them, he wants them to understand, but he also can’t burden them with that. He feels as though he can’t share it.
Diego
So here is the thing Five is not mad that Diego is part of the Commission. Well he is because Five knows the ins and outs of the Commission he knows how bad it is, and he does not want Diego to be taken advantage of like that, Especially with the fact that he does not trust Lila. He knows Diego is plenty capable to be a potential assassin he has the skills, but he also knows Diego. It wouldn’t work out, it takes something that he doesn’t quite think Diego has, quite frankly Lila doesn’t have it either. When he mocks Diego for the infinite switch board he is doing it because he’s petty, but also because in a way to not insult Diego, he doesn’t think Diego is Commission material. But more importantly he doesn’t want Diego hurt like he was.
When it comes to Diego making friends that i just a different between him and Five. Five also has a hatred for Dot that is of no fault of Diego’s, or really Dot’s but that is explained above. Five is not a people person as well. And honestly he is not going to ruin Diego’s friendships, he doesn’t work like that. He never well, especially not where his family is concerned. He also does actually like Herb and he knows Herb will be fine as he stated.
Summary
So in general Five’s time at the commission is filled with lots of deception, or attempted deception of him. Five does not have any good memories of The Commission. He does not like thinking about it, nor does he like sharing it. He is not a fan of people at the Commission but their is an exception or two none of them are AJ or the Handler, or Dot. He chooses not to tell his family to protect them, not that it is truly helpful. But he is trying.
How Are Twin Flames Created?
So I listened to an Edgar Caycee seminar and what stuck out for me is the theory of the souls creation. I like him. Always thought he was interesting. It took years to come around to his theories.
It's a trickle down effect where "God" exists as the creator and each soul is like a living organism and like a living organism at the first stages of life, we split and continue to split but we remain whole. We are all connected in this way.
This must be how Twin Flames are created. If that's true, at creation, we split and from each of us is another soul which splits and so on and so on.
I fell asleep shortly after hearing it and thought it interesting.
Yeaaaars ago I would watch documentaries, read books and watch seminars about the soul. It triggered only brief surface level of interest here and there because I tend to use the logical side of my brain. Some times I wanted to choke someone due to how absurd things sounded at the time.
You die and that's it. There's no god, no heaven or hell. You just become waste and due to embalming practices, ruin the soil and kill the environment with our selfish need to put decayed corpses in line boxes. I never understood that. I want to be cremated.
Started with Brian Weiss who is from where I'm from, then to Bashar, Edgar Cayce, Delores Cannon and shit. So I was an informed skeptic. I teetered more on the "this is bullshit" side simply because I didn't feel like I could apply anything they suggested to my life at the time. I gave up on soul mates finding out we are all technically soul mates. Twin flames was a failed concept. While it sounded good on paper or on audio. I just didn't fully believe there is actually only ONE person for you. That would be your TWIN flame. I have a twin brother and I never liked being a twin. So I canned it.
😘💕 Have a good night y'all!
How could he be so naive to think they’d take back a broken mannequin riddled with bullet holes? He’s such an idiot.
Read on Ao3
Five isn’t exactly sure how he got roped into this. Actually, that’s not true. He does know. He needs new clothes. He just wishes he wasn’t here right now.
He only agreed because Allison and Vanya had been so insistent on getting him normal clothes. And they were right. He was getting pretty sick of the school uniform. And it helped a lot that Delores was at that store. He misses her. A lot.
He did however, not agree to all the other siblings tagging along as well. He’d rather be without that circus. But it was too late now. It could be worse. And they could probably use some family bonding time anyway. Even though he can’t stand them sometimes, there is nothing he wouldn’t do for them.
The store isn’t too crowded. Thank god. It has to be strange to see all of them walking in together though. They’re a bit of a mess, to put it lightly.
This wasn’t exactly the place Allison had in mind, but Five might not have agreed if it wasn’t here. At the store where Delores “lives” or whatever he called it.
“C'mon, let’s go,” Allison says, basically dragging him after her. “Boy’s section is over here.”
Five sighs as his sisters drags him through the store and dozens of clothing racks before he even has time to think about seeing Delores. He’ll just talk to her afterwards.
“Maybe we’ll find something that fits Luther?” Klaus ponders out loud, making the others (except Luther) snort in amusement.
Five rolls his eyes, but smiles nonetheless. He’d never admit it, but he really missed this. Even if it was annoying sometimes. This was what he had spent the last 45 years of his life working to get back to. He wouldn’t give it up for anything in the world.
They come to a halt at the 13-15 section, bordering adult and 10-12, or whatever it is. He hates everything he sees.
“We could probably get stuff from the adult section, but I think we’ll have the most luck here,” Allison says, oblivious to his attitude towards the array of clothes. Vanya nods examining their choices.
“I doubt you’ll find anything that fits there since he’s so small,” Diego says, earning a light shove from Five.
“I’m not that small!” He retorts back. “I’m taller than Vanya!”
Diego raises his hands in mock surrender, a smug smile on his face. “Barely.”
Klaus laughs, making the faintest of smiles appear on Five’s face.
“See anything you like?” Vanya asks, bringing them back to what they came here for.
“No.”
Vanya blinks, looking a bit dumbfounded by his statement. “Nothing?” She asks.
Five shakes his head, stuffing his hands in his short’s pockets. He glances around again, but finds that nothing catches his attention, just like before.
He’s never been clothes shopping before. At the academy they just wore their uniforms and in the apocalypse he took what he could find to survive. The winters were cold and the summers full of ash and a burning sun. He spent time worrying about heatstrokes and hypothermia. What the clothes looked like never mattered.
The sweltering summers and freezing winters is defintley not something he misses.
Vanya pulls out a blue tshirt with some text about playing video games on from one of the racks and looks it over before showing it to Five. “What about this one?” She asks, cocking her head.
He raises an unimpressed brow as he looks at it.
“If you think I’d be caught dead wearing that you truly are the dumbest member of this family,” He says, gesturing to it with his right hand. “Which says something because Luther here–”
“Okay, we get it!” Luther sighs, expassarated.
“Aww, don’t be such a grump, Five,” Diego says in a teasing tone. “You can go see your girlfriend afterwards.”
Five shoots him a death glare, but doesn’t say anything. Diego grins at him innocently before sauntering off claiming he needs to get some stuff for himself.
And suddenly it’s just Five, Vanya and Allison. They find some clothes for him eventually. It’s not much, but it’s a start at least.
He’s just glad he doesn’t have to wear the uniform anymore. People have called him a little school boy too many times. Delores would be happy that he didn’t have to wear that stupid uniform anymore too.
He wonders if she misses him as much as he misses her.
Allison pays. Of course she does. She’s the one in the family with the most money, even though their father left them all a pretty hefty sum after he died. It might be the mother in her. Even though it can be annoying at times, he appreciates it. In her defence he does look like a child.
Five is excited to see her. He wonders how she’s been. Of the store workers have been treating her and her friends well. He wonders what she’s wearing. He’d told them she liked sequence.
He wonders if they listened to him.
His feet take him there pretty much automatically. Like muscle memory. He walks with practically a skip in his steps, like a child. Allison and Vanya behind, struggling to keep up with him, but not complaining either.
They’re talking and smiling and Five realises that they’ve never actually met Delores. All his brothers have, in one way, shape or form. He hopes they like her. And that Delores likes them.
He comes to a sudden halt when he spots the podium she usually stands, breath hitching in his throat. Vanya and Allison almost crashes into him. Their chatter dies off.
His heart sinks. Arms falling limp to his sides and the smile he wore just seconds ago, dropping.
“Five?” He feels a hand on his shoulder. “Is everything alright?” He looks up only to be met with the concerned faces of his sisters. He shakes his head in disbelief.
“She–” He starts. “She’s not–”
“What?” Vanya asks.
“She– She’s not there!”
Delores isn’t there. This is her spot, but she’s not here. And neither are her friends. Instead, 3 white, faceless mannequins stand in their place.
His breath catches in his throat.
“Are you sure?” Allison asks. “Maybe she’s just somewhere else?”
He shakes his head, blinking away the stinging sensation in his eyes and swallows thickly. This is her spot. He’s 100% certain this is her spot. If she was somewhere else he would have seen her. His shoulders slump.
They try to find her anyway, searching every part of the store, Five growing more and more upset for every second. In the end the trio ends up at the same place they started with no promising results.
Five looks up at the mannequins seething. Traitors, his brain says. How dare they? This was– is her spot.
“What’s going on?” It’s Diego. He’s holding a packet of black socks in his hand.
“It’s Delores.”
Diego’s expression falls. “Oh,” He mumbles then. “Oh no.”
“Yeah,” Allison replies, sadly. “We’ve looked everywhere. They must have thrown her out or something.”
“That sucks,” Diego says, putting a comforting hand on his shoulder. “I’m sorry, bro.”
Five sniffles, his face crumbling. He can’t stop his lips from quivering and when Allison sees that she’s quick to envelope him in a firm, motherly hug. The bag of his new clothes dropped to the ground by her feet. Five doesn’t fight her, instead choosing to wrap his arms tightly around her and bury his face in her shirt.
In the apocalypse, when he’d found his siblings buried in the rubble he’d had no one. He’d cried for what felt like a week straight. Until his voice was raw and barely usable (not that anyone was there to hear him though). And then he’d found her. And suddenly he wasn’t so lonely anymore.
He’d been so young and scared then.
“I’m so sorry,” She says, stroking his hair.
At that he completely crumbles. It’s as if the dam breaks, choked sobs muffled by the fabric of Allison’s clothes.
How could he be so naive to think they’d take back a broken mannequin riddled with bullet holes? He’s such an idiot.
It’s frankly quitw embarrassing. This whole ordeal. They way he’s just bawling his eyes out in the middle of a store for everyone to see, but he can’t help it. He’d blink out of the store, but Allison’s embrace is so warm and comforting and he doesn’t want to be alone. So he stays.
It doesn’t take long before Klaus and Luther to notice something was up and come over to them as well. In Klaus’ hand was a huge knitted sweater. No doubt something he had found for Luther. It’s soon forgotten as the scene unravels before them.
“What happened?” Luther asks, looking worriedly over his siblings.
Vanya puts her hands in her jacket pockets and looks up at him with sad eyes. “It’s Delores.”
Luther’s eyes widen, eyebrows raising, in surprise. He looks down at Five who’s currently soaking Allison’s clothes with his crocodile tears and then looks back at Vanya, mouth opening in the form of an ‘o’.
“Oh, Buddy,” Klaus coos, patting his back as a means of comfort. “I’m sorry.”
For once Five doesn’t care about whatever stupid nickname Klaus has called him.
His sobs subside eventually, turning into small sniffles. His hold on Allison slackens slightly, but he doesn’t let go.
“Excuse me, is something wrong?”
One of the employees has come over to them. She looks concerned and a little bit uncomfortable as she greets them.
Vanya shakes her head, but Diego interreups her before she can even speak. His protective nature taking over. He’s always felt like he needed to protect everyone. Even when they don’t need it.
“Actually,” He says, crossing his arms. “You wouldn’t happen to know what happened to the mannequins that used to be here?”
The girl looks at him baffled. “Uh, I think we threw them out.” She answers, looming more than just a little bit puzzled at his strange question.
Diego sighs dejectedly, but nods. “Thanks, that’s all,” He replies with a smile, albeit sadly. She smiles at him and leaves. Once she’s gone he pats Five’s back. “Let’s go home, huh?”
Five nods and they all leave the store. Five with tear stained cheeks and red-rimmed eyes, Allison’s arm around him.
“It’s gonna be okay, Five,” Allison says. “Just think about all the good memories you have of her.”
Five sniffles, but nods.
At least he’s not alone. He has his family. And they care about him just as much as he cares about them. He’s not alone.
             Was it bad for him to say that he didn’t want to learn how to feed her? Not because he didn’t want anything to do with his daughter or be involved in pivotal moments like these, but because he was scared. Not nervous like he had been plenty of times in his life when he found himself in uncomfortable settings that made him want to crawl out of his skin and burrow somewhere until he was alone, but truly scared for once. There was always the looming threat of something going wrong with anything he did but those statistics heightened when it came to the week-old infant placed in his arms. One wrong angle of his arms and Melissa could be choking on the formula without him even knowing! It was all so stressful and he was going crazy on the inside, but he did his best to remain calm as he allowed Delores to adjust his arms to a position that would be both safe and comfortable for the baby. He might’ve appeared as calm as he possibly could on the outside to a point where it was convincing Delores, but one tiny croak out of Melissa sent his heart racing and arms shaking. It most likely wasn’t much but a tiny baby burp, but it still lit up the nerves inside him that were already on fire. With Delores’s gentle instructions and words of encouragement he was able to get the top of the bottle pass her lips with ease. “Am I doing it right?”
@noiseofthunder   said   :   👫 for fish Four Headcanons About Our Muses || Accepting!
WHEN THEY FIRST MET, Delores did not want to call him ‘Fish.’ It wasn’t cute, it wasn’t suave. She told him that Fischel was a better name than Fish and it got his dick hard. Love at first sight, baby.
WHEN SAL WAS IN PRISON, Fish was one of many men who made a pass at Delores. Maybe he asked Sal during a visit for his blessing to fulfill her womanly needs, and Sal almost choked him right there. Additionally, Sal was placed in the hole for awhile.
MILLENIAL AU. Fischel follows Delores’ Instagram, he found it one random night. It doesn’t bother her because she doesn’t know him and he doesn’t know her, and his seemingly professional appearance has seduced her. Have things got spicy between them? Yes. But really, this is a circumstance of online dating gone horribly, horribly wrong.
I FEEL LIKE when Sal is dead and Fish and Delores are just consistently interacting, she grows accustomed to him and his ways. That’s how romance happens. Its a love-hate thing.
