City Marks AU

I know i said i'd explain the Brother in all but Blood AU first, but i'm still working on that one. In the meantime, have fun with this one that i came up with!

In this AU, a city, or a place, or just… an area can sometimes develop a consciousness, or a spirit. No one knows how. They just do.

Sometimes they 'claim' a person, as their own, their child, theirs.

To show this, at some point, a faint birthmark-looking thing will appear on the person's body, usually their hand or wrist, in the shape of the area's symbol.

At some point, often during an extreme moment, the 'faintling' mark, as it is called, will suddenly darken, turn black or close to black, it will feel like burning, for some it hurts, but mostly it just feels intense.

This is a Claiming. The city/town/area has Claimed the person, Marked them as his/her own.

Double-Marked can exist, people who have been taken by more than one city. Actually, there is no limit to how many Marks one can have. Are are triple-Marked, quadruple-Marked, and so on.

Marked of the same area can sense each other if they learn how and concentrate hard enough, and some can even sense those Marked by other areas, too. If a Marked is in danger, the other Marked, usually the ones close to them or at least the others Marked by their area will sense it, many times even experiencing pain on the Marked area of their body.

Many Marked have subtle abilities from being Marked, usually related to whatever area they're from. Most Gothamites have more survival-based abilities like good memory or good athletic abilities and some Metropolians will have more fun stuff like being really funny or good at cheering other people up.

They don't count as Meta or powers, really, just subtle abilities.

Often in many areas, Marked often have a meeting or gathering every month, or every two weeks, or there is no pattern or regulation, they just meet up when they feel like it. Not even they know how they know, they just know. Everyone will somehow get it in their subconscious, 'there's a meeting tonight' and that will be that. This is the way it is with Gotham.

Not many non-Marked know of the Marked. Oh, there are legends and rumors here and there, but they remain a secret and they keep it that way. Also Alred knows, because Alfred.

The SoG somehow extends to Bludhaven. I like to think that modern city boundaries don't count as boundaries for their spirits- the Spirits are ancient and took root long before the cities were built, instead the Spirits came at the same time or even before humans first came to their areas.

Not sure what the Mark of Gotham, of Metropolis, of Fawcett, of Star City, and of the other cities would look like though… i don't think it'd be directly representing their heroes though, since the Spirits are ancient and were there before the cities were built.

(I also think that some of the cities' Spirits, Gotham included, would have this premonition thing, they can see or sense the future. IDK i just think that if i write the AU out i'd include foreshadowing from showing the Spirit doing stuff idk.)

However, it'd still connect to the city, it's personality, the way the city is.

Anyway, each and every single Bat has been Marked.

Bruce got the 'faintling' when he was around four, it just showed up on him and got a little darker each year. Thomas and Martha (and Alfred) all noticed it, but Thomas and Martha were also Marked, so they knew what it was and decided to wait till the boy was fully Marked before explaining.

Fast forward to when Bruce is seven and he sees his parents murdered in front of him.

His wrist, it starts to hurt, but not like his whole wrist, just where the faintling is, each line and curve hurts and where the faintling isn't it feels fine. It hurts and it feels intense, and as he cries over his parent's bodies, it feels like it's burning and as he clutches his wrist, it seems to burn its way onto his skin. there, dark, to never be gone, is the Mark of Gotham. He hears the wind whispering, and it almost sounds like someone saying something.

Later some random other Marked explains to him and he shows up to the meetings and they hang out, chill. The meeting also serves to explain new Marked and trade stories and such surrounding the mystery of Marks.

Dick gets his faintling the day his parents are killed, t he never sees it, but Bruce does. Bruce waits. A few nights later, Dick comes to him, clutching his wrist, and Bruce explains. A week later is Dick's first Marked Meeting.

Jason's faintling was there for as long as he could remember. His Marking happened one night not long after Bruce adopted him, after a nightmare.

Cass's faintling appeared not long after she first came to Gotham, and her Marking happened one night during patrol.

Tim's faintling also appeared at some point when he was young. He noticed it, but never thought much of it. Later when he became Robin, Bruce was quick to notice it but again, said nothing. Later sometime during the whole Red Hood drama his Marking happened.

Steph, much like Cass, got her faintling a little later than the others, but her Marking happened during patrol once right after taking down a gang of thieves. The Spirit of Gotham is dramatic that way.

Duke's appeared sometime after his parents were taken, and he got his Mark during patrol.

Damian's faintling appeared as soon as he set foot in Gotham. Bruce spotted it fast, but once again said nothing. Only a few weeks later, Bruce woke up to Damian, confused and bit spooked, in his room, clutching his wrist. Bruce explains.

Since they are vigilantes, their subtle abilities and sensing is partially taken to the next level. AKA the Spirit of Gotham favors them.

All of them can sense when the other is in danger even before other Marked do. They are stealthy by nature and are more feral than they let on.

They all tend to blend into, melt into shadows and foliage and anything faster and better than most people can. They seem to fade into the dark, appear and disappear from thin air, make no noise as they step- Red Hood is a large man but quiet as an owl in flight. This goes a few steps further with Batman and Black Bat, because duh. They are the most stealthy and to some criminals they seem to fade into the background in front of them. They are also faster and all than most humans. Each Bat can be a living shadow when they want to be.

Besides that, Bruce has the stealth and strength factor, his memory is really good, he notes every detail, even the small ones, and he sometimes has this sixth sense of things.

Besides the stealth factor, Dick is flexible and fast, agile and light on his feet, more so than even other acrobats.

Besides the stealth factor, Jason is scrappy and strong, fast, and slightly enhanced hearing and smell. Also he's an extremely good marksman (though they only saw the full extent of it when he became Red Hood and somehow got a bulls-eye without even looking).

Cass is a living shadow. Enough said. Similar to Bruce, she also just knows things sometimes.

Besides the stealth factor, Tim has a really good memory and sometimes gets information and facts from the literal aether. He doesn't know how he knows these things, he just does. Also he was fast as heck from the start. He can blend into the background and fit himself into small spaces too.

Besides the stealth factor, Steph is deadly good at reading people and coming up with ways to get back at people. Frequently uses this to get back at anyone who messes with the others at school. Fast and quick reflexes.

Besides the stealth factor, Duke could hear and smell and see better after his Marking happened. He also became faster and stronger.

Damian became even more stealthy and observant, was faster on his feet and now his way with animals is even better. Now he also is a living shadow.

Anyway, no one in the JL knows about the Marked or that the Bats are Marked. The Bats often hide their Marks by wearing long sleeves, using finger paint over the area, or wearing armbands.

I don't think many of the JL would be Marked by their cities besides the Bats, but I think Billy, Mary, and Freddy would bear the Mark of Fawcett and Oliver would have the Mark of Star City.

First of all, thank you so much for loving the au, it's kind of getting demotivating a bit to see the fandom slow down but I'll ALWAYS have modern! coryo brain rot. So, I guess someday I'll be shouting into the void lmao.

I do think that when it comes to preferences, he does prefer chubbier people. He's one of those guys that likes being able to just really grab and slap anything and everything because you've got more than enough meat on your bones. Also, idk how to quite explain it, but I think he enjoys what he believes is a more realistic (?) body, like he'd deadass get so offended if you thought you had to shave or cover up stretch marks. He comes from a very superficial world where the beauty standards are impossible to achieve (edit: i’m NOT talking about being skinny being impossible, i’m talking about general beauty standards and having an unrealistically proportioned body like the ones in media, i’m aware that skinny people exist) . It's like how for a while, Aphrodite and other similar goddesses were depicted in media as very skinny but when you look back at how they were actually worshiped, there are statues and carvings and etc. with belly rolls and all kinds of versions of bigger bodies. That's what reader's body reminds him of, gets him feel closer to God and all that.

I'll get to some actual kinks in a second, but I do think he likes more of a reluctant person. He's someone that is built for the chase and that really revels in the wooing process, he'd never been in love before you, so the rush of intense feelings kicks his adrenaline into overdrive. It's a sort of predator/prey thing without being a full-blown kink, Coryo stalks and he circles around you until you're given such a small window of escape that you already missed your chance by the time he decides that he's done waiting around. You have the whole cutesy 'will they? won't they?' thing going for a bit until you just don't anymore.

In my head, modern!coryo's reader is a virgin for that exact purpose lol like he does have a fuck boy past that's typical for his place in society, so I just love the idea of sex suddenly becoming so "special" to him now that he's possessed with the need to mold your experience around him so you could never be satisfied by anyone else. I think he'd want to keep some of that shyness and insecurity no matter how much experience he gives you, so he can reassure you and praise you and tell you to suck on his fingers so the stretch of his cock won't be all you can think about.

He does favor praise over degradation but when he does degrade it's more... positive (???) in his eyes, calling you dumb because he wants you know you don't have to be smart, saying you're his slutty whore because he wants you to feel comfortable enough being as nasty as possible with him, etc. No matter what name he calls you, he's adding 'my' in front of it. The words will be the same, but his tone will change based on if you're driving him crazy (basically if he gets jealous for no reason again)

I also think that's he way more of a Dom type, he'll never go into extreme type stuff and he's more of a gentle Dom depending on the situation that led up to you fucking or making love. My modern!coryo is never going to let you have more control than letting you ride him (and you always end up getting tired, so he has to take over, which he is more than happy to do!). His control issues are severe like they are in canon, he's exhausted trying to hold himself back from just losing it on everybody. So, having a stress toy of an s/o that he can micromanage and love without limits does wonders for his mental health.

He's obviously obsessed with spanking/LIGHT impact play. The only bruises you'll get will be from him squeezing you too hard or littering your body with hickies, he'd bite you to pieces too but he likes to think that he has some sense of decorum.

He could get behind silk bondage, whether it's patterns on your body or spreading you out on the bed with your ankles and wrists tied to the bed frame. But he wouldn't do it because he wants to keep you from touching, he just wants to love you properly without you hurting yourself because you got shy and squirmed all over the place.

thoughts on ep 4?

ohhhh man this is gonna be really long and disjointed because i just finished the episode. i'm just gonna be focused on the homelander stuff here bc i feel like that's what we're all here for lol

the energy he brought to that whole situation gave me the most intense anxiety. i feel like not even he was entirely sure how all of that was going to go down, but as soon as he was there, all these memories that he had repressed started flooding to the surface. obviously his relationship with Ryan is causing a lot of his trauma to come to the forefront, and this is the culmination of that.

i think what caught me the most off guard was how run down the place looked. a concrete basement with shoddy computers and post-its everywhere. a bunch of techs. it was so small, and yet it's like homelander said. it was a lot bigger when he was a child.

it was their day job. it was his whole world.

that very first moment when Marty calls him John, and he corrects "Homelander," in that boyish voice, i almost burst into tears.

the moment where he's staring at the incinerator made me feel ill for him. i already knew what was coming, and it didn't disappoint.

"I had nightmares about that exact moment, and you can't even remember it."

i had chills throughout this entire scene. it was such a succinct way to lay out how dehumanized he was his entire life. that so many people stood by and were so desensitized to his torture. they tuned out his screams entirely and played little games to pass the time. all while he watched.

this time, when Marty calls him John, there's no quiver in his voice. "Homelander," he corrects firmly, smile tight and closed. direct eye contact, waiting for a challenge. but they won't. he knows no one will stop him. not just because they can't... but because they simply won't. they wouldn't save a child. why would they save Frank?

"You're sorry? Now?"

this whole scene is such an interesting parallel to his conversation with Vogelbaum in s1, where he asks, "You want forgiveness? Now?"

something he rightfully denied Vogelbaum. in this instance, however, we see Homelander enacting his vengeance and giving that forgiveness... but only once they're dead. only once they'd paid his price. once they've suffered as he did. I forgive you.

the only time anyone expresses remorse for what they've done to him is when they're faced with it. when the regret eats away at them not for the harm they caused, but the damage done to the world, or to their own safety.

immediately following that, we see him call Marty over and not just apologize, but very specifically he asks, "Can you forgive me?"

it's perfect foreshadowing for what he's about to do to him. can he forgive the same thing Homelander is about to?

the scene that follows is so profoundly uncomfortable i had a lot of trouble watching. the reality of Homelander's life and teenage years is something that we as a fandom have always been very cognizant of, but seeing it addressed so plainly on screen was both nightmarish and vindicating.

i remember being really squicked out by his comment regarding Ryan getting Zoe pregnant, but it makes total sense that raising Ryan is bringing a lot of his own childhood sexual trauma to the surface. there's SO MUCH to be addressed here that it could be it's own post. but what's great is when Homelander calls an end to it: it's the moment Marty says he's sorry.

"I forgive you, Marty."

this is all about Homelander accepting what happened to him. facing it and the people who were part of it head on.

speaking of...

BARBARA. i know she's public enemy #1 right now, and rightfully so, but i found her so profoundly interesting. did she know Homelander was there? she didn't seem surprised at all. why would she come without backup? how did they even contact her with everything shut down? i don't know, but whatever the case, i really got the impression she already knew what she was walking into. she made a real attempt to get Homelander away from the other scientists, but he wasn't going to be swayed. they were already doomed.

she antagonized him. They were just doing what I told them. It's not their fault. It's mine. Leave them alone.

it's very apparent to me that among his fractured personalities, she represents the kinder motherly one. she, like Stan Edgar and Vogelbaum, are elevated above the other scientists. she's a figure of authority and she spoke to him as such.

"They were scared."

"I was a child."

"They were scared!"

and he does recoil at that. we KNOW Homelander hates being feared. it was his trigger with Madelyn, it's what kept him from lasering that crowd, and it's a blatant, desperate lie when he says to Starlight, "...being feared is a-one okie doke by me."

"Everyone was terrified of you from your first breath."

she breaks his heart a hundred times in this scene. from the reveal that he killed his mother in the same way Vogelbaum told him his son did—the source of that lie?—to the statement that their greatest success was making him obedient by withholding love. by turning his heart into a pit of need.

a sharp juxtaposition to Vogelbaum's You're my greatest failure.

and then she says to him no matter what you do, you will always be human.

here's the thing about Homelander's humanity. he doesn't associate it with kindness or love. he associates humanity with all the worst things that have ever happened to him. cruelty. selfishness. betrayal. his entire life he's been used and abused by the people who were supposed to protect him.

of course he doesn't want to be human. doesn't want his SON to be human. look at what humans have done to him. they're vile, they're vicious, they're dirty.

in another life, that desire could have been his drive to be good. if he'd only had a single fucking example of it.

"I'm not human. And neither is my son. And I'm gonna raise him so that he knows it."

in other words, he'll raise his son the way they failed to raise him. Homelander wants desperately to raise his son with the love he never had. he just doesn't know how to.

ultimately, like Vogelbaum and Stan, Homelander can't bring himself to kill her. he tears apart the people she tried to save, and he leaves her to stew in her own fucking mess.

BILLIE SECTION

-I made Billie 5 years old.

-I’ve mentioned this before but Billie has Asperger’s.

-She didn’t talk until she was like 3 going on 4.

-Her nickname is "silly billy"

-Miles always says "how's my favorite girl in the whole wide world?" when he comes home from school on the weekends.

-Miles is a doting big brother and helps take care of her as well as connecting with her interests.

-As much as she loves her parents, she thinks the world of Miles. She's up under him the most, especially when she's over stimulated, stressed or sleepy. His heartbeat calms her.

-She has a limit to physical contact and taps when she’s ready to let go. She usually only hugs her family. Her and Ganke do hand touches instead of hugs.

-The family helps her navigate her environment and her emotions as well as socializing but never push anything that makes her uncomfortable. They always ask questions and have special routines to help her.

-A part of her routine is on Saturdays they go to the park so she can see the pigeons.

-Miles does not like pigeons, but tolerates them for Billies sake.

-They also have special songs for her like "🎶when you walk across the street take ur eyes off your feet🎶" to remind her to look both ways and pay attention when walking across the street since she can get distracted easily.

-The songs they use also attach her to music. So whenever they go to ganke he plays the piano for her and they make songs up and when she hears a song she likes she starts stimming and wiggling.

-She also takes interest in drawing because she sees Miles drawing and they draw animals and watch Steve Irwin on Saturdays too.

-She doesn't understand figure of speeches so if you say "don't sweat it" she would be like "...sweat what?"

-she doesn’t show a lot of emotions unless she’s feeling something intense.

-She rarely sees Miles in superhero mode in public but when she does she just goes “SPIDER!” and smiles and he waves at her.

-Moral of this story, she is loved.

HOBIE

-He lives with his grandparents in the Bronx area (I’m not sure which side yet tho).

-He loves his grandparents very much.

-One time at a punk rock concert a wise man told him “the most punk thing to do is to take care of yourself, don’t be reliant on the system to do so, cuz they ain’t”

-He told his grandpa the following day and they had a heart to heart about it considering that Hobie was very depressed at the time.

-So with that being said, health is incredibly important to him.

-Some ppl tease him and call him “straight-edge” but it don’t bother him much.

-Hobie officially meets the other spiders when he’s 16.

-Clicks with Gwen and Miles almost immediately.

-Especially Miles, Peter always jokes and says that they were definitely brothers in their past lives.

-Gwen and Hobie bond over music.

-Gwen gets the crush first.

-But unlike Miles she’s more forward and doesn’t wait a billion years so she’s asks him out.

-Hobie says yes.

-Only one that knows how to drive by the time he’s 18.

OTHER STUFF

-Gwen’s relationship with her father just…never gets better in my AU. He’s just an ass and as far as Gwen is concerned they’re not family, they’re just related. With that being said, although it’s never acknowledged, Gwen definitely sees Peter as a father figure in her life. She even has him as her top emergency contact. Peter started to understand this when she was 16, he never questioned it and sees her as his oldest daughter. When she’s had really bad arguments with her father she goes to Peters and spends the night.

-Peter and MJ’s home is open to all the spiderkids. No questions asked.

-Peter and MJ always say “On our taxes we have one kid” when people ask them how many kids they have.

-When Peter gets home he sees how many pairs of shoes are at the door then yells “how many kids are in the house?" They usually yell in response which gives him an idea as to how many kids are there.

-On average there’s no less than 2.

-One time he asked and a really deep voice responded along with the kids.

-It was Venom.

-All the spiders have their own therapist’s but every other weekend there’s a group therapy session for kids with powers funded by S.H.E.I.L.D. It’s not required that they go but it’s open for them regardless, just sign up and come in.

-Ganke donates some of his legos to the program and helps assist sometimes with running it since it’s not ran in the best shape.

-This connects to a bigger problem of helping hero’s with their mental health and stability, especially when they decide to retire.

-If you read the other AU list I had, this is the reason why Ganke switches his major to Social Work when he goes to college.

🤔🤔 for me at least I feel like ace brings up sebek especially a handful of times? and to bash on him too or at least poke fun at him. can’t think of a lot off the top of my head but in ace’s birthday jacket vignette he picks at sebek specifically when going thru dorm choices. WHICH LIKE……. I DUNNO ITS GIVING VERY “I BEEF W HIM” VIBES. I figured it could just be because he’s a fellow first year but ?? jack or epel don’t get mentioned when he was talking about their dorms so i’m not sure 🤔

Sorry for the lack of screenshots; I don’t own all the relevant cards in EN and didn’t want to include screenshots sporadically 💦

But!! I did my best to cite where I’m pulling my information from (main story, vignettes, etc.) and directly quote from the official localization. Hope that’s okay!

I mean… Sebek is pretty much always pissing off his peers because of the condescending way he talks to them. It’s no wonder why he rubs people the wrong way. As for Ace, he has indicated that he finds Sebek to be a pain in the ass. I don’t know if I would personally call it “beefing” though?? I see it more as Ace just wants Sebek to shut up and chill out (though Sebek would definitely shout at Ace and fight him) 😂

Point is, I don’t see Sebek having a particular disdain for Ace (he is abrasive toward everyone), but I do see Ace having a particular dislike for Sebek. They aren’t “rivals” in the same way that Ace and Deuce are, as Ace and Sebek don’t really compete for anything or get into many instances of bickering—at least not from what we see. That might just be a product of Sebek being formally introduced later than the other first years, but even counting vignettes and event interactions, it’s still pretty one-sided; often we see Ace commenting on Sebek but not the other way around.

According to Ace in 7-11, he knows Sebek because they’re in the same Magic Analysis/Enigmics (EN writes this class as both of these so it can get confusing) elective. He also implies (in 7-34) sharing other electives with Sebek. This means Ace has regular direct experience with Sebek compared to the other first years (except maybe Deuce?)… ie more opporunities to be annoyed by Sebek’s arrogant loner attitude.

Ace reports (again, in 7-34) that “[Sebek] insults people like, all the time. He even says stuff right to my face when we're in the same group, like, 'Don't you dare slow me down, human!' And he always finds some way to make every subject about Malleus, then drones on and on about how great he is." In regards to those intense feelings about Malleus, Ace says "[Sebek] takes it to a whole other level [...] I can see why people would idolize [Malleus]. But, like, you don't have to make it your entire personality, y'know?" Ace repeats these ideas in his Birthday Boy vignettes. “[Sebek]’s always yelling something or other about his precious Malleus. Oh yeah, and he talks down to us for being human. Dude's a total fae fanboy.”

In Sebek's School Uniform vignette, Sebek yells at Ace for running in the halls. Ace responds by calling him an "uptight nag" whose yelling will disturb other students. Ace also points out how pathetic Sebek comes across as after witnessing him trip over himself to apologize to Malleus. “Dude, nothing you say's gonna impress anyone after that sorry sight.” When Ace tries to leave the scene to make it to class, Sebek shouts at him. “You wait just a minute! I'm not finished! COME BACK HERE!” It should be noted that Ace is someone who always tries to find shortcuts or ways to get out of work whereas Sebek is strict and diligent. Their mindsets and values naturally clash.

This, I think, is a very good summary of most people's problems with Sebek. Ace is just saying what's on everyone's mind--and this makes sense for Ace's character, as he has consistently been the type of guy to call others out. He also encourages Yuu to do the same (in his Birthday Boy vignettes). This detail at least implies Ace finds it amusing on occasion to tease Sebek for his shortcomings.

We see Sebek’s behavior in class for ourselves in his Dorm Uniform vignettes. Ace actually appears in them too, remarking that Sebek is a “loudmouth”. This is something he echoes in his Birthday Boy vignettes; “Loudmouth doesn't even begin to describe him.” When Sebek starts arguing with his group members (some mobs) and refusing to work with them while simultaneously extolling Malleus, Ace says “Here we go again with Sebek and his ‘liege’… Man, imagine being grouped with that guy who […] All he had to do was play nice and let [the mob students] help. He CHOSE to make things harder. How does that guy even function in society?” Side note: In Ace’s Suitor Suit vignettes, he calls Sebek the “number-one worst contender” for a groom. Ace clearly thinks Sebek is unfriendly and annoying in areas extending beyond academics or school life. This is, of course, in addition to Ace finding his loud voice grating.

Later in the same vignettes, Ace and Deuce are forced to sit close to Sebek in the crowded cafeteria. Sebek insists to Lilia that his classes are going well, to which Ace starts snickering and reveals the truth: “Dude... No problems whatsoever? You've got nothing BUT problems, bro! Haha!” Deuce pitches in: “He got into a loud argument with some classmates during our defensive magic lesson. He called his groupmates ‘burdens’ and insisted on doing their entire project by himself.” Ace then says Sebek must think highly of himself and gets annoyed when his words are taken literally. “Do you not understand sarcasm either?” He tells Sebek to fix his attitude, but it doesn’t seem to work. Ace sighs and says he’s just wasting his breath on this.

Sebek’s Dorm Uniform vignettes illustrate Sebek’s general struggles to get along with all of his classmates, not just Ace or Ace specifically. Deuce notably also calls Sebek out for causing trouble for his peers, even stating “[…] as an aspiring honor student, I can't condone your behavior. Having confidence is fine and all, but you shouldn't make things harder for others. That's just being obnoxious.” Sebek pisses off the other first years in 7-34 too, calling them “shallow” and making a terrible first impression. Ace, who is also present, says that no one wants to be chummy with him anyway—not if he’s going to act like that.

In conclusion, Ace has explained his rationale for disliking Sebek many times over. Rather than saying Ace has a problem with Sebek, I think it would be more accurate to say that Ace has a problem with Sebek and is simply relaying the opinions that everyone else holds directly to Sebek’s face. (He gets annoyed that Sebek takes none of it to heart though.) As for the other party, Sebek chides Ace no differently than he would anyone else stepping out of line, not appreciating Malleus, or… just existing as a human 💀 He doesn’t seem to have issues with Ace other than his lax attitude (which could also apply to many other characters such as Leona).

In my opinion, Ace and Sebek are not rivals (at least not major ones), nor do they have specific beef with each other outside of one-off instances or whenever Ace is in the mood to lay down The Truth and embarrass Sebek. I see Ace and Deuce as your classic rivals and Sebek as like… a villain of the week who cameos here and there after his first appearance to cause shenanigans.

I may have asked you this before, and I'm really sorry, so I'm gonna be on anon for this. I. hate. cleaning. I've always hated cleaning. I just...have some strange aversion to cleaning. When I'm elsewhere, I clean just fine. But when it's my own stuff and area...I just avoid it for as long as possible. Executive dysfunction really sucks. What advice do you have that you can give me?

Executive dysfunction is tough, because it's really really hard to get around sometimes. Nothing I say will be a sure fire way to get through it, but I hope something I say can be helpful.

First of all, do not expect that you'll clean the whole house or anything. Just focus on a small amount at a time. Doesn't even have to be a whole room. Make it like, "today I will take care of x in the bathroom." It'll be so much easier. Maybe do like, one task a day if possible, and allow yourself to not keep up with that. You're allowed to skip chores, it's not the end of the world.

I like to open up the windows and let sunlight in, I also really like to blast music (or headphones if need be) and just go for it. I approach it like a jog, activity i need to power through and music is the energy. Serious about that sunlight, it wakes you up and brightens the mood.

As I said, start small. Is there garbage in your room? Pick it up and throw it out. There you go, there's one task. You can call it done there if you want. Do you have dishes scattered around your room? Pick em up and put them in the sink. There you go! A whole new task completed!

If the trash needs to go out, take it out when you leave the house. On your way to work? Take the trash out on the way. Gonna check the mail? Take the trash out.

Dishes can be daunting but if you break it into smaller tasks it can be a lot more manageable. When I'm at my girlfriend's house I tend to do the dishes immediately following the meal. (This is largely cuz they have so few dishes in general and so they're available when we want to eat next buuuut) This makes it so dishes don't stack up. Washing one bowl and one spoon and maybe a pan is a lot less work than a collected stack. You could also just load dishes into a dishwasher (assuming you have one) as you go. A lot of people don't do this which kinda always surprises me, but if you finish your meal, immediately when getting up, put the dishes in the dishwasher. No wait. Just do it. Dishes can't stack if they're already in the machine that's going to clean them.

Executive dysfunction is really hard to get around sometimes, and I'm sorry if none of this actually helped. But, with a lot of things with low energy or depression, you gotta kinda just make yourself do it. I know that seems redundant, "I can't make myself do it that's why it's a problem" but it is genuinely true. Sometimes you gotta just force it to happen. It's ok not to always be on top of everything. It's ok if today you just can't do it. It's ok if there are things you can't do and need help. Don't beat yourself up over it, that's not gonna help. Remember that it's ok to take breaks and not finish tasks.

Reward yourself. After you do the thing, do something you like. Eat chocolate, watch that show you've been waiting for, get high, whatever you want. (I like to take a big hot bath with a lush bath bomb, it's a great reward hehe~)

Buy a maid uniform, lots of people have told me that helps them power through chores :)

I don't know if any of that will help, but I hope it does.

Also, while I'm doing this, back on my last blog I wrote a post in reply to an ask of "how exactly do I clean my room" and I haven't been able to find it. So I think it'd be good to recreate it here. This is a lot more intensive, so anon plz don't feel inclined to do any of this. This is entirely for if people have the energy and ability, a bit closer to what I do.

Put on music. Absolutely the most important thing is having fun with it. Put on that song you like to sing along to, or that song you like to dance to, get yourself some energy. Jam the fuck out.

This is big optional, so feel free to skip this one if you don't want to do it. If you have a ceiling fan, wipe the top of the blades. Dust collects there even if you've been using it. But, if you haven't been using it, you don't want to knock all that dust down when you finally do. Go get yourself a duster for like $5 somewhere. If you just can't do that I'd recommend using a dry rag (always use dry things for dusting).

Do you have any dirty clothes? Whether in a hamper or on the floor, pick them up first and get the washer going, do the rest while the washer runs.

Get a trash bag. Do you have any trash in your room? Empty bottles, cans, wrappers, paper, any trash whatsoever: pick it up and put it in the bag.

Do you have any dishes laying around? Pick them up now and put them in the sink.

Wipe down any surfaces that might be dusty. Again, duster or dry rag. You can use paper towels if you want but I feel they're not very good for this task. Now wipe down any that might be dirty, from trash, dishes or whatever. Wet paper towel is allowed if you have no alternative, wet rag is probably better, lysol wipes tend to be my preference, if you're really fancy then you can get specific cleaners for wood and stuff (I wouldn't worry about this if all your shits cheap Ikea or Walmart though).

Whenever the washer finishes, of course move it to the dryer, but also put your bedding in the wash. You're cleaning the whole room, there's no way there isn't gunk on your bedding. This bit is kinda predicated on being able to wash/dry whenever you want. if you're reliant on a laundromat, edit this to whatever makes sense to you.

If you have carpet, I'd recommend to vacuum now. If you don't have a vacuum, no shame but I do recommend them. I wouldn't recommend a Dyson even though they look and seem cool, if you want a decent vacuum just stick to the normal top brands and you'll be fine. If you want one but don't have much money, get one of those small hand ones. If you have a hard floor, swiffer that shit.

You are largely done! Sometimes things may not be this easy but try your best with what you have and it'll be fine. Even doing just one of these things will feel good afterwards. Feel free to take breaks, to stop all together, reward yourself when you're done. It's just cleaning your room, don't think of it as a big deal.

Infamous Update (04 - 25 - 2023)

I've never done these before! (so pls excuse this not very organized wall of text) But I did get a few asks on 'schedules' and stuff so I thought I'd update you guys on what I'm doing Infamous-wise.

I am working on the free drabbles. It's taking a bit because Orion's is becoming so long. Like!! It's looking like a chapter at this rate (lol) and that's really a product of my tendency to overwrite. It's coming, though, and I did start working on Maya's, which is fun. That should be up any day now!

I'm also working on the playable POV chapters for patreon. If anyone is wondering what that's going to look like: I explained it a bit here. I have a lot of POVs I want to do, but that also includes coding so it's taking me a bit. Once I have about two done I'll get it out and then add more as I go!

Chapter 2! A lot of people are asking about chapter 2. I have the whole thing outlined. I said on my personal that once I have something outlined I can write it pretty fast, which is true! But since I'm also fixing all the errors in the demo code and polishing the demo, it's going to take a bit longer to get it out. Truthfully, I don't think it'll be too long, though. It took me about two months to write the demo and chapter 2 is a little less intensive than that, so maybe about a month? I won't give any specific dates since I don't know but I'm confident it won't be too long!

That's really all. Basically, it won't be too long of a wait and I'm always working on it. I do have other life responsibilities but I'm lucky to be working a job where it's not too much for me and I can work on Infamous without feeling exhausted, so I do get a lot done! Thank you for your interest as always :) and if there's anything you'd like to suggest, I'm all ears (as always).

Dani traveled around world, hadn't she? While doing it, she had to meet a lot of interesting people.

Like heroes or villains.

In civies or not or both who knows.

But to actually learn things about someplace you have to spend more than one night there. Like, idk? Month? Probably more but I doubt she would be able to sit in one place for any longer. In many places she is shorter.

Month is long enough to create some connections though.

Enough to get someone to realize when you disappear...

Yeah, Dani on her way of gremlin and self discovery ghosted bunch of people without second thought. They'll probably forget her in few months anyway. And she was everywhere in USA. She didn't left American soil only because she didn't want to be too far from Danny in case of emergency. Before anyone tells me he was in space so he could fly to her wherever on Earth she would be, Earth's atmosphere ends about 100 km above sea level and officially this is border of space. Telecommunication satellites are between 8000 to 12000 km up. It's about how wide Atlantic Ocean is.

Plus y'know, time. If she needs help, she probably can't quite wait until he flies all the way to Hong Kong, Wladywostok, Rio de Janeiro or wherever she is.

So America it is. For now at least. When they're 100% sure she is stable she'll fly elsewhere.

Anyway people who she ghosted are used to batshit crazy stuff but "this tween is alone on her road to self discovery and just left for new city" isn't first thing anyone thought about. Maybe outside of Martians. They know. Everyone else? No idea what happened to this tiny, chaotic, snarky, probably meta child.

First thought though?

So now 3/4 of Justice League, some individual heroes and bunch of less intense rogues are scrambling around their cities tracking every trafficking ring they found glimpses of, trying to find Dani.

Flashes work with Captain Cold on this and seem to slowly descend into madness. At the same time, Dani eats ice cream with nice museum lady from Washington who introduced herself as Diana. Then she helps at animal shelter with kind stuck up boy called Damian. Oh, Danny likes aliens, let's visit Martian Manhunter. Maybe she'll manage to get autograph for her template. Wait Space Cops? Kinda sucks but Danny would probably like their signatures too. Let's go. Oh, Superboys are fun mess with and older one is like her! This Nightwing guy puns like Danny but she always feels like he looks at her weirdly. Billy should eat more, magic or not, fighting is tiring. Good thing she has Sam's money to buy him burgers.

She has time of her life while people she met are slowly dying.

She probably doesn't even hide that she is traveling but for whatever reason they don't think she actually left.

They don't bring it up on any meeting because no matter how concerned they are, it's not really whole league type of business. And Martians just discreetly enjoy chaos.

There is a lot of ways it can get resolved (or not) but I kinda thought about Jon introducing his old buddy Damian to his new buddy Dani because he thinks they would get along and they just stare at each other for long moment before:

"Dani..."

"Dami!"

"WHY DID YOU LEFT WITHOUT A WORD! WE THOUGHT YOU WERE KIDNAPPED OR DEAD!"

Some screaming and revelation that Killer Croc was looking for her too, Dani hits moment of realisation.

ALSO: for more in depth stuff, go look at Genius I guess cause as much as d love too, I don't wanna spend all day here- ALSO ALSO: Go listen to the album! It's really good!

The songs referenced in this post are Chonny's {who I will refer to as CJ} covers of Miracle Musical's "The Mind Electric". The covers are from CJ's album, "Chonny's Charming Chaos Compendium" {I will refer to this as CCCC}, which consisted of "covers" of Tally Hall, Miracle Musical, Rob Cantor, and Joe Hawley songs. I quoted the word cover, because sometimes he writes entirely different lyrics. Now for the explanations.

Take a description of the characters I wrote a month ago! FYI: they're all parts of this guy called Whole {he represents CJ!}

Heart is one third of the whole, and is seen as the “emotional one” by Mind. He is also the one seen in more control of Whole in the beginning of the album. His voice in the album is represented by having no effects added, along with being softer. He has a mutual hatred to Mind. He is blind, and therefore also wears a blindfold. It is not specified when he was blinded, and is up to individual interpretation, though seemingly the most popular one being after the “Juno incident”, which I will cover later. Fun fact, HE HAS A GUN?! He represents the Moon, and has a mostly purplescheme. HMS each has a monochrome color that represents them, Heart’s being white. He has also been referred as “Resident Heart”, “The emotional side”, “Juno”, and “Artemis”. He has purple lipstick.

Mind is the second third we talk about, and is the “cold, logical” one, and finds Heart useless due to his emotions. After “The Ruler of Everything”, he is seen to have more control of Whole. His voice is the most distinct, which, THANK GOD- and is deeper and more monotone. Due to “The Ruler of Everything”, and Heart’s last lines in “The Heart Acoustic”, a majority of the fandom sees Mind as an android/ automaton. He has a blue color scheme. He represents the sun and the color black. He’s referred as “Mr. Mind”, “Automaton freak”, and “Apollo”. He has blue lipstick.

Soul is the final third. He is the peacekeeper, working to bring together Heart and Mind, and is determined to do so, saying he’d die trying. His voice is slightly distorted, and I don’t really know how to explain it. He is the one most representing Whole, and is seen in mostly two ways by the fandom, “Mom and Dad are fighting again”, and, “The children are fighting again.”. He has a glowing red trident, matching his red color scheme. In fanon, and sort of canon, Soul has a chicken named Darrel, created by Socialc1imb due to Mucka Blucka (Intro to Cacophony) having chicken noises, and was canonized in the music video for “The Bidding” by OpalTheThing. Confirmed by Chonny, Soul does drink Monster Energy {I think that's true, probably???}. He really wants Whole back and hates the constant fighting. He represents the color gray and the stars {some people see it as something else though}. He’s referred as “The host”, “a madman”, “insane”, “peacekeeper”, and “Atlas”. He has red lipstick. 

Finally, Whole. Also known as Harmonia {though some people see them as separate entities} , he is what happens when HMS goes into concord. Not much to say here. Again, he’s also a representation of Mr. Jash himself!!! {EDIT START} Oh wait also here's a quote from Mr. Jash's QnA mostly for me to save but uhm. How are Soul’s, Whole’s and Heart’s vocals distinct from each other? How did you decide on these differences? Why did you make Mind’s voice so distinct from the others? The main difference between Soul and Heart is the type and intensity of their pitch-correction. Heart is made to sound like a normal take, using pitch-correction only to fine-tune the notes that they sing to sit better in the music, while Soul’s is heavily cranked to sound almost robotic, even though each is in the same register. For some songs, Soul’s vocals also get layered on top of a Vocoder that’s programmed to replicate the melody of the song (noticeable in Two Wuv and Light.) The fact that Mind’s voice is so distinct isn’t really a specific choice I made, just that out of the three characters, he seemed to best suit it. Finally, from a sound/mixing/production point of view, the voice of ‘Whole’ as you all seem to refer to me is almost identical to Heart’s. This isn’t really for any thematic reasons, and instead just because it feels the most natural. {EDIT END}

Alright we aren't going to talk about Whole much by the way- So, The Heart Acoustic {I will refer to this as THA} is Heart singing a song from Apathy {I'm pretty sure Apathy is a hole}. He is in Apathy, from what the fans dub, "The Juno Incident", an event where Heart attempted to shoot Mind, but missed. He got sent to Apathy as a punishment. It's what I like to call, Heart going on a rant. Importantly, at the end of the song, Heart says this, "Do what you want, you automaton freak, no I can no longer bring myself to care, this hollowed out vessel's beginning to creak, so take control, let's see how you fare." Automaton freak refers to Mind and vessel refers to Whole, by the way. This is Heart's way of saying, "I give up." The Mind Electric, {TME} Is what I like to call, Mind's third and final "diss track" to Heart {The "diss tracks" in question being songs, "Be Born", "Storm and a Spring", and "The Mind Electric"}. Most of the song consists of him mocking Heart, here's a quote I like, "See how his feet miss the ground, and he falls inside a hole he dug for me.", This refers to Heart being in Apathy, a hole he dug for Mind as his grave for after the Juno incident. The Soul Eclectic {TSE}, A.K.A. my favourite song {yes, I'm biased cause Soul is my favourite but also this song goes HARD} Also, this song is real hard to sum up. So, the first verse is Soul kind of introducing himself. The second has Heart calling Soul a "Damn madman", and Mind calling Soul a "Depressed fool". This could also be taken as Heart and Mind talking about each other though. The last line in this verse Soul says "You seem to forget to you answer to me." This is Soul trying to claim any power he can, and he is telling the truth, Heart and Mind *do* have to answer to him. Third verse, Soul says "Neither is wrong, yet neither is right", referring to Mind and Heart's fighting. At the end, Heart and Mind share a line saying, "Condemn him to the infirmary", which I see as them trying to get Soul out of their fighting. The bridge Soul says, "You must be so arrogant to think That either of you can control The Soul so wholly, when To be one whole you can't hold solely" This is Soul talking to Heart and Mind, saying you can't control me, and you shouldn't think as such. Also, I took the usage of "Wholly" and "solely" as puns for Whole and Soul. Starting in verse 4, Heart and Mind finally start listening to Soul. In verse 5, Soul is pretty much like "I'm done with y'all's bullshit." The second bridge isn't notable, but in the interlude, Heart, Mind, and Soul all say, "I. Am. Me." {I'm only writing that because in the sound it sounds cool as fuck lmao} In the chorus, Soul says: "See how the brain plays around And it splits what once was whole down into three And you fall inside a hole, inside a- Someone help me Understand what's going on behind my eyes Doctor, I can't tell if I'm not me" The brain refers to Mind, and splitting refers to how they're all parts of Whole. The hole, again, refers to Apathy. The last three lines are Soul saying he doesn't exactly know what's happening between the three of them, even as their "host". In the second part of the chorus, Heart and Mind are fighting. Again. Shocker. In the third bridge, Soul again talks about their fighting, saying this: "See how they fight all day The other half won't hear what's had to say It's just the game they play here in this labyrinth maze" Yes, the last lyric is a reference to Labyrinth by Miracle Musical. In the outro, Soul is now fed up, and starts to threaten them. Here's the lyrics: "Screams with no sense for why One more day and more night One more black and one more white One more chance is all you've left to turn the tides Tridential regicide I won't hesitate to kill my Heart and Mind I will abdicate these deviants sat inside I'll take you down in tandem when this rope is tied"

Day / night, black / white refer to Heart and Mind's corresponding things. Soul then says he's giving them one more chance. In the last three lines, Soul threatens them, saying he'd rather die than do this. And I'm pretty sure the rope refers to a noose, which.., y'know.

"I can't believe you don't like the ginger," Cillian said, taking his chopsticks and plucking the ginger off of Zoe's take-out container.

They were back at her apartment, changed into comfy clothes with sushi on the coffee table. The TV was on, serving just as background noise. Cillian and Zoe continued to talk about the new house, new furniture, estimated moving dates for Cillian and how ridiculous the home buying process is. Scout was sitting next to Zoe's legs, staring intently, hoping she would drop some food for him.

"I just can't wait for it to all be done, ya know? I hate living in between places and out of boxes... I just want to feel settled," Cillian said,after taking a sip of his wine.

"Hey! I'm offended," Zoe shot back. "My place isn't that bad."

Cillian put his hand on her knee and squeezed. "That's not what I mean and you know it, I'll live anywhere as long as you're there," He replied, giving her a kiss.

"Yea, yea, yea." Zoe said, taking another bite of her sushi. "What's on the agenda for tomorrow?"

Cillian sighed and sat back against the couch cushions. He took out his phone and pulled up his calendar. "A whole bunch of shit. I have to to finalize when I'm flying out to film season 6 of Peaky, I have some fittings tomorrow for it, but we fly out... I don't know.. I don't want to think about it," Cillian said, rubbing his face with his hand.

"Me neither," Zoe said, quietly.

They both were aware these shoots last anywhere from 2-3 months. They both were also aware he would be filming this in another country, while Zoe would be here. They both wanted to ignore it, maybe in hopes the problem would go away, somehow.

Another thing Zoe was ignoring, was how fast this entire "relationship" was going. She feels like it was just yesterday she was arguing with him in a bar over spiked seltzers, and now they survived a PR relationship and possibly moving in together? He never officially "asked" her to be his girlfriend. God, do people even do that anymore? It's been so long since Zoe was in a real relationship. Maybe because they're older? Is this how fast everyone moves when they're in their 30's?

"Then let's not think about it," Cillian said, leaning forward and putting his arm around her shoulders, pulling her into him.He kissed the top of her head as she sighed against him. Zoe leaned awkwardly against him, while her mind continue to race.

Fuck it, she thought. He has to leave, I'm not going to waste the couple days left I have with him dwelling on the days he won't be here.

Zoe spun her head and caught Cillian's lips by surprise. He was even more surprised when she deepened the kiss, taking her leg and swinging it over him, now straddling him.

"Woah," Cillian said, and Zoe cut him off with another kiss before he could say anything else, holding his face in her hands and grinding down her hips into his.

His hands flew to her hips, keeping her pressed tight against him, rocking her back and forth. They pulled away, Cillian panting. "I'm not sure what just happened but.. I like it," He said, hands still guiding her hips.

"Then stop talking," Zoe whispered, going in for another kiss.

Cillian stopped her with his hand on her jaw, staring at her intently. The blues in his eyes were gone, eyes dilated, staring her down intensely.

"What am I gonna do with you?" He said just above a whisper, his thumb trailing over her lips.

"I can think of a couple things," Zoe said, taking it upon herself to take his thumb in her mouth and sucking.

Cillian sucked in his breath, feeling her suck his tongue without breaking eye contact.

Zoe released his thumb with a pop, and raised her arms and hoped Cillian would take the hint. He did; he grabbed the hem of her baggy band t-shirt she wore and lifted it up over her head, throwing it to the side, leaving her in just her panties. Cillian immediately raised his knees so she would slide forward into his lap, grabbing her breasts and starting to kiss them while massaging them. Zoe arched her back into him, leaning her head back and beginning to grind her hips against him again searching for any sort of friction for the aching between her legs.

A moan escaped her mouth as he pinched her one nipple and sucked the other.

"That's it, let me hear you," Cillian mumbled against her, refusing to leave his spot on her chest. He was rock hard, and she was rubbing herself against him with just the right amount of pressure.

Cillian finally kissed up her chest, neck, jaw, finally landing back on her lips, hand flying to her hair to keep her in place while he kissed her.

"Too many clothes," She mumbled against him, shimmying herself out of his grip and off his lap to pull at the waistband of his sweatpants. After bringing them down along with his boxers to his ankles, she kneeled in front of him while remained sat on the couch.

"No," Cillian said, grabbing her elbow and pulling her into his lap. "I want to be inside you now."

Zoe smiled, standing up and resuming her position on the couch hovering on top of him. She stood up on her knees while she lined him up as he pulled her panties to the side. She slowly sunk down on him, sounds of each of them sucking in their breath filled the room along with breathy moans. Throwing my hat into the ring on the F/F issue because why not? There are a lot of reasons why, on a macro-level, F/F is less common on ao3 and in 'fanficdom' as a whole, though it really can vary by fandom, a *lot*, as I know firsthand.

Beyond anything else though, I suppose what I really, really want, is an F/F equivalent to James/Regulus or Theodore Nott/Harry Potter - I use HP examples mainly because I'm familiar with them more, but I've seen the phenomenon in other fandoms - where there's this just... intense upswelling of interest for a slash-ship between two seemingly utterly random guys, one or both whom might be exceedingly minor or entirely posthumous.

Like, while the rhetoric when people bitch about 'Any Two Guys'/Fandom Ghost/Migratory Slash Fandom, and similar complaints (i.e. about the seemingly inexplicable popularity of a non-canon slash ship versus the canon one) has a metric tons of problems in terms of how a lot of people talk about it, I want more F/F ships that have that same vibe to become weirdly juggernaughty in their fandom, explicitly becoming super popular despite one or both characters being virtually nonexistent in the main text of the source material.

That's all I really want. I mean, no, that's not all, but just once, just once, I want to watch, in real time, an entire fandom go 'wait what?' about some absolutely batshit non-canon F/F crackship that somehow becomes huge.

But F/F shippers just don't seem to bring that same energy to the table as M/M shippers. Hell, *I* don't really bring that same kind of energy to the table. I can't bring myself to do that sort of shipping, generally, though I have with one ship.

So where the hell does that energy even *come* from? Is it just the sheer size of M/M and the long history of it on ao3? The bigger a thing is, fanficdom-wise, the faster it tends to grow and all, but still.

Why do F/F shippers tend to glom more onto the canon or 'nearly canon' stuff to the (relative) exclusion of what looks like - to outside observers - throwing random guys at each other and seeing who sticks to each other? (Yes, I know that's not really what happens, but that wouldn't be what would happen for this hypothetical F/F either, but it would sure look like it from the outside)

The closest is the hilarious rise of Creamsicle art and cosplay, though that wasn't that huge in the end.

I think m/m fandom is particularly used to everything being subtext and repurposing various intended-as-platonic dynamics. There can be less of a focus on direct representation at times.

Those ships are just mega rare though. We talk about them all out of proportion to their actual frequency. Het shippers have a wealth of canon ships and shipteased options, but they occasionally go in for wacky crossover ships. Get a big enough group and some of this will show up.

I read two more issues, to get past the Robins fight, and...still so conflicted.

I can see exactly how, if Damian is your ultimate blorbo and you read for Damian, this story is doing exactly what you want it to do and reflecting back beloved stories.

Issue 5 is explicitly set up as a parallel to War of the Robins from Batman and Robin 2011, and even ends with Damian getting an 'I love you and here have a trophy' speech from Dick, to tie Damian back to Alfred and Dick and the layers of care in the family.

It acknowledges Damian's menagerie and comments that the last thing Damian did before leaving was check in on them. It has Goliath show up and save Damian's life.

It has intense Robin: Son of Batman vibes and the whole repeat of the 'finding yourself on an isolated tropical island and redeeming yourself'.

(I expect the whole Respawn thing to play out with very much the exact themes of how R:SOB dealt with Damian's clones once Damian clues in)

But I keep waiting for payoffs that just aren't happening.

Rose slopes off to call for help for Damian, and then Dick, Jason, Tim and Steph turn up and I'm like "oh! Rose went and called Dick, because she's looking out for Damian on the island in the same way that Dick looked out for Rose while he was training her as Ravager and in a bad place where she was hanging on every one of Slade's words and determined she needed to prove herself as worthy of her father...oh. She called Jason".

And look, I know that there's an underlying push for decades now that Jason and Rose do have a bunch of things in common and would work well together (and also hinting at whether or not they're romantically involved), but a lot of that is inferred off panel stuff while Dick was literally Rose's teacher. If you want themes of 'you don't have to be what your family expect of you' why on earth wouldn't you openly reference that?!?

Also while I was looking all of this up apparently the Richard Dragon they're talking about is the son of actual Richard Dragon, who apparently got killed in a flashback or something in Green Arrow #32 during n52 and who apparently in that universe worked for the League of Assassins (oh god I am now tearing my hair out, RICHARD IS NOT LINKED TO THE LEAGUE. HE WAS TRAINED BY THE O-SENSEI. STOP DOING THIS TO ALL THE MARTIAL ARTISTS). Huh. Bet that doesn't stick. Richard's too important thematically any time someone wants to write a Question book to be left randomly dead.

And then there's the whole situation that there is a Tengu on this island. I just went down the rabbit hole and this is an import of the Titans villain who is just a Japanese goblin, NOT the Tengu mask that Shiva hands out to people who are trained by her and fighting somewhat under her banner (as seen in Knightsend and in the Circle of Six in Richard Dragon). Which is honestly a waste; if I were going to resurrect a Tengu for this plot, the Shiva and Richard Dragon aligned mask is far more thematic!

And plus, Silver Monkey? Silver Monkey is heavily linked to both Connor's Green Arrow stories, and Shiva (as Paper Monkey), and Deathstroke. It's War of the Dragons and Cult of the Monkey Fist and Brotherhood of the Fist. It's about death and resurrection (as Shiva almost kills Connor and Tim uses his marker with Shiva to save Connor’s life from the time he saved HER life). Is this going to be acknowledged? Because that's where I'd be playing the references by bringing in Silver Monkey.

And look I haven't seen what payoffs we get for Connor yet and there are definitely a bunch of opportunities built in; on top of Silver Monkey you have Constantine Drakon, who's defeated Connor before. Plus there's Artemis Crock, who in DC Comics comics terms isn't linked at all to Connor (she's JSA and Infinity Inc and was in the YJ98 Zandian Olympics team) but obviously has been used for archer purposes in tv and cartoon adaptions.

I keep seeing all these potential stories set up and wondering if there is going to be any pay off on them. I hope so. But also so far the story has slipped around those payoffs unless it's a direct reference to a Damian story.

Also Ra's al Ghul playing the hermit sensei meditating and in touch with the universe on a nearby island is the funniest nonsense possible. Ra's? RA'S? Taking time out to go meditate on the state of the universe? Just so he's conveniently in a place to give Sage Advice to Damian about what personal values he should work on? Pull the other one.

If Eden actually is the killer, please just imagine very intense and violent hand gestures made towards David. What is he doing!!! First he wants to push people towards murder, then he wants to carry on "Xander's mission" by incorrectly voting the blackened, now he wants to make Teruko more distrustful by potentially actually pinpointing the blackened! He is flipping around more than a fish desperate for water and I am just sat with my head in my hands.

i honestly really need to get cooking on that theory ask about what the hell David is up to in this chapter, but since it's not as time sensitive as murder stuff (probably), i've been strategically delaying it. then again, maybe i'm making things worse for myself by giving more time for David to add more nonsense to his already lengthy list of wtf-ing. then again, it'd be sad if i wrote out a whole explanation only for David to fuck it up by adding another twisted layer on to his actions, so maybe it's for the best that i've been forced to wait.

in terms of trying to explain it in the short term, my best guesses as to what David is doing under the assumption that Eden is the killer are that A) he's already accepted that everyone is going to vote for Eden this time and is thus just setting up for the future (although that's kinda weird because she shouldn't accept they're all going to vote for Eden if he could convince them that the BDA was irrefutable proof), or B) he actually has no idea whether Eden is the killer or not, having admitted to not looking much at the crime scene, and is just trying to be annoying.

A/N – aight guys so I'm too impatient to write an actual story and like, make a proper beginning yk? So let's just pretend I wrote an actual start and move on, sick.

Tyler hadn't said much about himself, just that he needed to get far away from here, but he had no money. Saying that he got involved with the "wrong people" and can't get out of it now.

You began to pull into a roadside motel. After a full day of driving with this stranger, all you wanted was to get out of this car. You knew Tyler wouldn't actually hurt you, he just needed to act as if he would to stall the police. You'd met Tyler that morning, at your usual coffee shop. He'd been politely asking people for money, simply to get a cab and get as far away from here as he possibly could. When he asked you, you decided to engage in conversation, his demeanour intrigued you. Although, you couldn't recall the conversation due to all the intense events that happened afterwards. Which lead you to end up here, in the middle of nowhere in some sketchy motel, with a criminal stranger.

You both made your way out of the car, Tyler walked a little faster than you, probably to minimise the amount of people seeing him. Making his way to the front desk and asking for a room, you strolled around the lobby, looking at this rundown little establishment that you probably never had known about if it wasn't for today. You assumed you'd be ok out here, Tyler wasn't a famous criminal or anything, and even if the police did find you, they'd think he held you hostage, not that you were cooperating with him. You only cooperated because he had a gun, sure you could tell he'd never use it, but it's still intimidating when someone's pointing it at you.

"Hey, cmon.." you heard Tyler call as he started walking towards the steps. You hurried behind him and made your way to the room, being greeted by peeling wallpaper and a TV that didn't work, but atleast the beds looked clean. Already feeling sleepy when you sat down, since your adrenaline had shot up multiple times today, really taking its toll on you, but you couldn't fall asleep just yet. You needed to take your makeup off, brush your teeth, you know the regular night stuff.

Before you could even check if the motel provided toothbrushes, Tyler had already shut and locked the bathroom door. You weren't mad, but he could've said something to be less rude. You assumed he was showering, since that's the only reason to lock the bathroom door, so you just waited for your turn.

After about two minutes, your thoughts were interrupted by faint sounds coming from the bathroom. Small noises of discomfort, every few seconds, what was he doing? You got up and knocked on the door, "you ok in there?" "Yeah, I'm fine."

"Can I come in?" You asked quietly, "sure." You heard the lock click, allowing the door to open. Your eyes were met with the sight of Tyler attempting to get the shards of glass out of the small cuts on his face. They'd been there all day, but this is the first time he'd gotten to a mirror. "Woah! hey hey nonono, don't do it like that. You'll cut your fingers aswell." He was attempting to just pull them out with his hands, which would've been fine if his hands weren't shaking. Thankfully you happened to have tweezers in your pocket, so you asked him to sit down and have you take them out for him.

"Can I... ?" You referred to touching his face to keep your hands steady. He gave you a slight nod, making you proceed with the small operation. There were three small slits on his left cheek, two on the bridge of his nose, and one on his right eyebrow. You thought it'd be best to not ask how he got these, he seemed like he wanted to act as if it didn't happen. He avoided eye contact the whole time, looking anywhere but your face, making it hard for you to concentrate. While delicately picking out the glass from his skin, you absent mindedly studied his features. His messy brown hair that framed his face perfectly, his dark eyes that may not have looked at you, but you could still tell were mesmerising, and his scars, even though they hurt, they weirdly suited him.

"All done!" You said smiling, you'd usually disinfect them too but, you didn't exactly have the right equipment to do so in this tiny motel room. So you substituted with cutips and water, sure it wouldn't keep bacteria out, but it'll atleast get the dry blood off. "Stay there" you told him, going to grab some cutips from the bathroom. Coming back with a few damp ones, you gently held his face up and wiped off the blood. His eyes finally looked up to meet yours, you felt inclined to hold eye contact, but you were half way through a job.

"Ok, done for real now" You smiled, though his first reaction was to reach up and touch his wounds. "Don't do that! You'll make them worse." He seemed to listen, even if it was a bad habit he had. "Thankyou" he looked up at you, "you've been the first to treat me like a human in a while." You saddened hearing his statement, "Tyler..." you began, "you don't have to tell me but, what exactly got you here?" Saying you were eager to know was an understatement, but you weren't gonna push his boundaries, even if he dragged you into something you never wanted to be a part of.

He started with a sigh, then quietly explained the events that lead to this. Telling you how he desperately needed to help out his parents, leading him to work for the wrong people, and getting wrapped up with their shit in the process. They forced him to do things that'd land him in prison for life, but he'd made a mistake, now the police were after him aswell as those shady pricks. His voices started to shake, causing you to look at him properly, his eyes were watering as tears began to fall, landing on the dirty carpet beneath him. Saying he just wanted out of all this, "I've put you in danger now too I- I just, fuck. I can't do this anymore" he stood up and started talking with his hands more, gesturing to himself and you. Saying he's just sick of hurting people when his soul intention was to help. You realised you'd probably get kicked out if he got any louder, so you had to stop him gently.

"Tyler, Tyler hey" you placed your hands on his forearms, stopping his frantic gestures. He stopped and looked you right in the eyes, you could see how broken and tired he felt. "This isn't your fault. You had no way of knowing, I can tell you meant well, ok?" You spoke softly, attempting to calm him down with your words. "Anyone would've made the same mistake, it's just hard for others to see when they're not in the same position as you." You reached up to wipe the tears off his face, "I can tell you're a good person, that's why I haven't tried to run. I haven't felt threatened by you at all." You could see his eyes gain a tiny bit of light, "I will stay, and help you get out, ok?"

His dark eyes stared right back into yours. After a few seconds of comfortable silence, they darted to different points of your face, going from your eyes to your lips, analysing them quite obviously. They landed back on your eyes once more, his lips separated, "can I kiss you?" You felt an involuntary smile creep onto your lips, "sure" he leant in and closed the gap between you both, your hands still on his face and jawline. You felt him smile aswell, both of you were comforted by the complete stranger touching your lips right now, why?

This was the last place you expected to be today, feeling this wanted criminal so intently while he was pressed up against you. You both pulled away for air, but not before opening your eyes to gaze into eachothers souls. His eyes regained some light as he saw further and further into your beautiful iris'. You didn't even know this boys last name, but right now, the only thing you wanted was to be around him, he gave you a new sense of life.

Just for all of that to be interrupted by a familiar sound of the door being kicked down. You both jumped and let go of eachother, facing towards the now busted open door as police rapidly came into the room. You looked at Tyler in a panic, forgetting they were only after him, just for him to get tased immediately. He fell onto the bed and started screaming in pain, "Stop! Stop it! He didn't hurt me!" You immediately stated to the police. He was cuffed and dragged out of the room in an instant, you were pretty sure he was also knocked unconscious. An officer came over to you, "Let's get you outta here, we'll get started on pressing charges don't worry." "No! I don't want to press charges!" You stated desperately, hoping to explain everything that's actually happened before Tyler gets taken away in their car. They didn't stop though, hauling him off aggressively and shoving him into the car, he wasn't exactly innocent, but if they could just listen to him explain the full story- I'm sure they could understand.

The sirens echoed through your head as you started to dissociate, you had no idea what would happen now. ----------------------------------------------------

Jess Drew Subplot (baby is born?): REAL interested in finding out why Jess would ever follow an asshole like Miguel. Also she deserves more plot relevance. And fanart. Aaaaaand I kinda want to see her husband too.

The Spot Collapses in on himself: Gonna be honest with you, people, I have no idea how they'll fight him, this just seems like the cleanest solution.

Miguel's actually just as much of an anomaly as Miles: My own personal theory, not really based on anything concrete beyond some flags I get from Miguel and some stuff I'll explain later. Basically, I think Miguel's projecting on Miles, and that's part of why his beef towards him is so intense. The only explanation I can think of is that he destroyed his original dimension, not just the one with his daughter in it, and the serum we see him take is what keeps him "stable" and "belonging" to Nueva York. Or you know, maybe just the watch, but the serum is more sus to me.

Gwen Stacy Fall Subversion: Either Gwen completes her character arc by saving Miles from falling to his death or she saves herself, thus breaking her karmic cycle of getting fridged.

Meows Morales cameo?? Pretty Please???: C'mooooon he became instantly popular and he's adorable!!!!! <3 <3 <3 bonus points if multiple miles help out to fight against Miguel's squad later.

We spend some time on Hobie's dimension: No idea how the plot would get there, but the concept art of Hobie's dimension is fire and I want to learn more about him <3 <3 <3 tell us why you almost gave up the mask, darling, and did you kill a cop in your dimension? <3 why would you feel bad about it? <3 <3 <3 <3

Gwiles Morales (he hates that name): Apparently this is how some of the staff called him. Poor guy.

The Spider-Band fights Earth 42's Sinister Six: For those who don't know, they control Earth 42, as confirmed by the art book. Nothing better to sweeten Miles G. to our heroes' side than taking care of them. Bonus points if one of them is explicitly a fascist and Hobie and Noir punch him together.

Miguel Bites Someone: bonus points if it's hot as fuck. Sorry but it's true.

Lyla's the real bad guy (beyonder): I'm gonna let moviebob do the heavylifting here. Could tie to that personal theory I explained above.

Peter B. vs Miguel fight redemption: ok this one I'm biased for because I personally find Peter B. more morally culpable than Gwen in their whole drama with Miles seeing as he's the adult with a kid. But also yeah, good chance for him to redeem himself in Miles eyes (or not! maybe Miles wants more from him that just standing up to a bully) and take Miguel down a peg. Bonus points if he looses a leg, because apparently that's something that happens in Spidergirl's comic.

Prowler!Hobie somehow: Not saying our Hobie will turn into the prowler, just that the connection will be addressed somehow. Idk man, it just feels like positioning Hobie as another mentor for Miles is very deliberate.

Miles feels guilty about Earth 42: Juicy source of drama between him and Miles G. as well as a free character arc about how responsibility is more than just cause and effect.

Miguel tries to redeem himself by dying but Miles won't allow him to: Miguel O'hara has several problems, and I speculate they all come from his self-obsession. Everything about the spider society is about him erecting structures dedicated to his pain to turn himself into the martyr holding reality together. So if he's finally proven wrong, it seems pretty in character to me that his idea of making amends would be to do the same thing one last time for "the right cause", being the diva he is and how he thinks you can sacrifice one person to save everyone else and all. I don't think Miles will allow that, though. Bonus if the scene parallels the one in into the spiderverse when Miles returns Peter B. home.

That one @cheezthatboiii comic / Mileswitch: because what's the point of having a twin if you can't fool people about it?

Gonzalo/Gonza Morales: The correct alternative to Gwiles if anyone during production has braincells or is latine.

Margo Subplot (family issues): confirmed in the artbook that she ended up having more plot relevance than originally planned, and even if that wasn't the case she deserves it. And more fanart.

The Spot is defeated with kindness: Ok. Before I said that I don't know how the Spot could be defeated with violence, but maybe that's not needed? He is clearly a foil to Miles after all, and I think it would do him (Miles) a lot of good to practice some radical empathy, even on someone who kinda doesn't "deserve" it. This isn't so much about him being ""redeemable"" (fandom has ruined that whole concept) so much as how much empathy the narrative is willing to grant him.

Jeff meets Gonza before Miles reveals to him that he's Spiderman. He's confused by having 2 sons: this just feels to me like the most probably sequence of events given the franchise's usual use of bathos and subversion of expectations.

Spider Support Network Finale: No more spider society authority "correcting" the multiverse, every spider-person gets a watch so their friends can come over and lend a hand and prevent as many deaths as possible.

Aaron 42 gets severely injured/dies: I don't want this to happen, it just seems like a way of trimming some fat in the cast and getting some more drama from Gonza.
