So obviously this entire chapter is just. Absolute hell. It fucking sucks. It's necessary, but it hurts. This moment is one that particularly sticks with me though, for three reasons:

He says that oh, it looks easy to others. And it does look easy to others! And even us, the readers! Which must suck in this moment in particular, because Vash has done so much to try and hide his inhumanity throughout the story. He just wants to love and be loved. But it's not easy to dodge bullets and avoid damage and take on hundreds of scars. It's not.

We see Vash crying and groveling his way out of things because he's a Silly Goofy Guy, and it's typically a gag, and tbh, it rarely works that we see. But that last line implies that he dislikes doing that more than he dislikes being seen as inhuman. At least that's his truth at this moment--he's obviously not in a great emotional state.

He's already losing it. He's squeezing his hand so tight with the internal pain of it all that he makes himself bleed through his gloves. What the fuck. No wonder he loses his grip on his plant powers in this fight.

Anyway. What a chapter, amirite?

Genshin 4.7 Archon Story Quest spoilers ahead! So, as we know at the end of the story quest we as the traveler receive a photograph of us, our sibling, and Caribert all together. And as devastating as it is that we now have proof that we talked to our sibling but can't remember it, I can't help but wonder if our Abyss sibling also got a photograph. Do you think they returned to wherever they may be currently and discovered the photograph, only to realize that after 500 years of torment they finally got to talk to the sibling they've missed so much but can't remember it? Do you think that they possibly broke down crying after realizing that even more time will have to pass before they can have another proper conversation? Do you think they regret not being there earlier to say farewell to Caribert just on the slim chance they could've talked to our traveler? I don't know, but I do know this story quest made me cry, and Hoyoverse needs to pay for my therapy.

Teaser Monday

“Okay,” Evan says. He leans over to close the MacBook, but never takes his eyes off of Tommy, then lifts his hands in surrender. “Okay. Okay?”  Tommy doesn’t speak, and Evan’s almost afraid to do anything else, but it also feels like being shredded from the inside out just to watch him be this upset.  “Can I comfort you, please,” Evan rasps, unable to stop the tears in his own eyes, because he’s done this. He’s upset Tommy this way. He’s put him back in that place, when that was the last thing he wanted.  Tommy doesn’t tell him no, though. Evan’s fingers tremble as he lifts his hand to rest on Tommy’s chest, up over his collarbone, the side of his neck, and then coming to rest in the hollow of his cheek. Tommy’s face gives little twitches as the tears start to run in a mix of pain and rage. 

He’s scared to do anymore—almost half-convinced Tommy might hit him for what he’s set off in the other man. That is, until Tommy’s chest caves with the wrack of a silent sob and a wave of tears rush down his cheeks, and then Evan can’t not do anything. He launches into Tommy, pulling his boyfriend so tightly into him that he can feel Tommy’s heart pounding through the layers of his own t-shirt and hoodie.  Tommy fists the back of Evan’s hoodie, and then the sobs aren’t silent anymore, and Evan can’t stop the tears from running down his own face, knowing he’s the one that’s caused this reaction.  “Okay, okay,” he chokes out, rocking them back and forth gently as Tommy buries his face in the fabric of the hood on Evan’s sweater. “I’m sorry, baby. I’m so sorry. Never mind. Okay? Never mind.”

I want to share a little story

A couple days ago, in a student leader clinic, my band director got around the topic of praise. Praise is very important, and we should all work towards giving more of it.

That said:

One year at graduation, my band director received a card from a student he taught. This student was an all-state clarinet player, a drum major, honor band participant, pretty much any notable/prestigious band activity you could think of, she was in. And this card thanked him- my BD- for the one time he recognized her (the student) on the marching field.

The importance of this: she was suicidal. In fact, from the day of rehearsal, she was going to kill herself the next day. But she didn't.

All because my BD singled her out on the field for doing something good. And it made her week. It stopped her from going through with her suicide plan. I have never seen my BD cry, and when he was telling us this story, he broke out in tears

The lesson I want all of you to take away from this? Praise someone. Tell them they're doing well. Or even just a compliment. It makes a difference. A HUGE difference.
