hnnngggggggggg ok hereâs all of my headcanons off the top of my head,,,,,,,,,, not gonna bother organizing tho
Henry, Charles, and Ellie? All bi, sorry I donât make the rules.
Platonic Triple Threat or polyamorous Triple Threat? Both are đ (also I 100% prefer poly Triple Threat over just Henry x Ellie or Henry x Charles)
Geoffrey Plumb is aroace and if you asked him about romance heâd probably think you were talking about Romania as in the country.
Mr. Macbeth was the one who originally proposed the idea for Right Hand Man to just. not have a name. When introducing himself RHM said he didnât like his name very much before actually giving it out and Mr. Macbeth was like âok so donât use it,â and then RHM never used it again.
I have another headcanon on how RHMâs name fell out of usage which Iâve already posted and I canât decide which of the two I like better tbh (I can link it in the replies for those curious)
Right Hand Man and Mr. Macbeth became friends sometime during Terrenceâs reign. Before an important mission (probably a raid) that Mr. Macbeth was assigned to, Mr. Macbeth faked an illness so that he could switch places with RHM because he wanted to apply for head of the train division and RHM wanted an excuse to hang out with Reginald. It worked too well and Reginald thought Macbeth was dying and called off the raid. Then the medics found out that Mr. Macbeth actually had a really serious illness that wouldâve killed him if they didnât find out. After the initial âwow wtf was all thatâ Mr. Macbeth and RHM never really fell out of contact with each other. (this would actually work better as a fanfic than as a headcanon tbh)
Speaking of Reginald and Right Hand Man, the confident one in the relationship is, uh. Not RHM, thatâs for sure. Before they actually started going out RHM was awkward as all hell about it and not as subtle as he tried to be.
Reginald, meanwhile? Oblivious fuck who wouldnât pick up a hint that someone liked him if it smacked him upside the head with a neon sign.
Awkward force vs oblivious object. Who asked the other out first? Reginald, probably.
Reginald asked Right Hand Man out as a casual "hey do you want to" and RHM nearly died.
Howie Howitzer was an orphan adopted into the Toppat Clan and given his name by the clan, according to his bio. Headcanon that it was Reginald who took him in.
Adding to the above, Reginald has also adopted Sven Svensson and Filbert Philbert, and possibly others.
Based on the previous two, Reginald is... not good at coming up with names. Who had the oh so brilliant idea to name the orbital stationâs most deadly weapon âSupreme Dominanceâ? Reginald thatâs who. Heâs probably the type of person who would unironically think Moon Moon is a good name
(Previously posted) Reginald disallows pets on Toppat Clan property. He actually loves animals, but he doesnât want to risk any getting hurt or stressed.
Ever since Right Hand Man got access to his cybernetics there have been at least 10 new rules added that are specifically about his cybernetics as a result of some accident or another (ESPECIALLY his lasers)
Reginald frequently orders fast food for the airship since very few people on the airship really know how to cook decent food. (based on various clips from Puffâs twitch streams and a tweet from the official Among Us twitter acct)
The only thing Right Hand Man got from dying is vague memories of text mocking him for dying and calling him asymmetrical. Henry and RHM get matching t shirts one day that say âMet God, What A Dickâ.
Ex-Toppat Leader Jaques Kensington is actually alive and well, heâs just trapped inside of the painting portal. He also may or may not be immortal and got trapped inside the painting long ago because someone found out his secret.
Reginald chose Burt to be head of communications specifically because of how calm he is. It helps Reginald keep his anxiety under control. Burt mostly likes Reginald because he buys him Starbucks sometimes.
Given how easily Reginaldâs mustache can become misshapen when put under stress, Reginald definitely styles his mustache.
hhhhhhhhhhhhhooooollllly shiiit I think I got them all finally. I might be missing some but this is what my brain was able to generate. That list is way longer than I expected it to be wow.

Tim with an Artist s/o
word count:Â 690~
warnings:Â one slight reference to nsfw
When you first showed Tim your artwork he was absolutely dumbfounded by your talent, asking you questions about your hobby because it intrigued him so much
âHow long did this even take you?âÂ
âIs there more?â followed by a shy â...can I see?â
Tim could honestly sit for hours and just look at your sketchbooks, tracing the pencil marks lightly in admiration, he likes pencil sketches the most because he can see the eraser markings, it feels more of an intimate piece of work for him
Heâd probably ask you about your inspiration behind certain pieces that he really likes or how you even got into art in the first place
Youâll probably catch Tim staring at a few of your works more than the rest, heâs too shy to ask if he can have it so he opts to memorizing how it looks instead, if you offer him to take it however, his heart will instantly melt
Tim will happily frame one of your artworks in his room or office at Wayne Enterprises just so he can remind himself of you everytime he looks at it
If you drew him??? I think heâd die from how flustered heâd get just from the idea of you viewing him as a muse
If asked he would sit patiently to let you draw him, can't guarantee there won't be a huge blush dusting his cheeks the whole time
With enough pleading, Tim would let you drag him into certain poses so you can have a human body reference right at your fingertips
Maybe even a nice nude modeling moment đ heâd be super nervous and flustered so be sure to shower him in affection if you choose to make him your model, a couple kisses will do the trick đ
âCan you please just sit here for a couple minutes?â âLike this?â âPerfectâ
âBaby Iâm getting a cramp in my foot.â âJust a little bit longer, I promise.âÂ
Specifically helpful for hand references because Tim has such pretty hands, he particularly enjoys when you hold his hand while you look at it as a reference, keeps him entertained
Makeup artist? Would happily wear your makeup around the manor for a bit, especially if you just want to test out new color combos, heâs super calm and may even fall asleep on you because of how calming the feather light touches are on his face he looks super hot with black eyeliner on his waterline
For your birthday heâd definitely want to surprise you with art supplies so  begrudgingly calling Damian for advice on what to get you would be his first choiceÂ
â...whatâs a filbert...?â âTch, youâre hopeless.â
âI think they likes pastels.â âWhich kind?â â....ʷʰá”á” á”á” Êžá”á” á”á”á”âż Ê·Ê°á¶Šá¶Ê°Â á”ᶊâżá”....âÂ
âI saw those expensive markers online, do you think theyâd like them?â â...which kind, Drake.â
Point being, Tim doesn't know much about the art world that isn't photography but he is more than willing to learn about it
Cue long conversations where he genuinely wants to know the different mediums, sometimes he takes you to an art store just to see what you get for some gift ideas
Speaking of gifts, he won't hesitate for a second to spend hundreds of dollars on art supplies for you, he has the money and wouldnât think twice about it if it makes you happy
Might even let you go on a shopping frenzy to which he would happily be dragged along by you
Tim would notice when your sketchbook starts to near its end and solve the problem quickly by handing you a new one that matches your old one or one that had caught your eye
Will 100% want to try pottery just to recreate the iconic Ghost scene with you, you teaching Tim of course, feeling you so intimately close to him would warm his heart and absolutely make his day
He loves digital art a lot, he could honestly just sit and watch you work for awhile, resting his head on your shoulder and inevitably falling asleep to the soft sounds of the tablet screen

Hi! A friend told me that you're taking requests for AC character S/O scenarios, so I was wondering if you could do a fluff/soft one for Filbert? đđ
Iâm sorry, I didnât see that you requested a scenario until after I banged these mushy suckers out. Send me a follow-up ask if youâd like a scenario instead and Iâll be on it pronto! Filbert's design just screams soft to be honest, he's such a silly little guy :)) Also fr tell ya friend I love em haha -Author Jam Filbert is about as soft in a relationship as anyone could be, both figuratively and literally - he really likes having his fur brushed or played with, and would never refuse some scritches behind the ears; just saying! I personally headcanon that the animals might make some noises respective to their species so he might just chatter excitedly when he sees you! It's a rare occasion, but definitely worth the wait. Filbert can be both ditzy and sleepy or just a little more aware and mischievous than you might think. He might just play a harmless prank on his S/O every once in a while, but he never means any harm - just things like waiting behind a wall to jump out at them, and he'll give them a hug and apologize if he ever accidentally overdoes it. I feel like he'd keep a nature journal, given his nature hobby - nothing too dedicated, but he'd probably doodle a funky looking bug he finds or press a flower in there - speaking of which, he probably brings you any pretty flowers he might find while out doing this. It's sweet, but it reaches a point where you have to ask him to stop plucking all your flowers. Filbert would probably be on the smaller side, even for a squirrel, so even if you're short yourself you'd probably still be taller. This being said, he would definitely be the small spoon, but every once in a while he might like to switch it up and cling to your back like a fluffy little backpack haha. He very much enjoys mutual affection, and especially likes your body heat if it's a little on the chilly side - not to say you'd be cold either, he has a lot of warm fur. His catchphrase 'Bucko' would most definitely change to something a lot sappier when he's talking to you - 'Buttercup', I think, would be a big possibility. He probably cycles through cutesy nicknames for you regularly' and yes, most of them just so happen to start with b. Sorry, not sorry. Even being on the mushier side with his own words and actions towards you, he would probably get a little flustered if you reciprocated a lot, "Aw, shucks" being used very commonly in your household in response to this. He turns especially red if you pet or carry him. âââââââBut really, he just loves you a whole lot!

Types of Intelligence Meme || Accepting!
intrapersonal  âžș  the capacity to understand oneself and oneâs thoughts and feelings, and to use such knowledge in planning and directioning oneâs life. not only an appreciation of the self, but also of the human condition.
@hyakiruâ @nxctiphanyâ
OH BOYÂ âknowing thyselfâ is really not one of Hazelâs strong suits tbh.Â
So thereâs one thing that really shines through a lot in Reload. Hazelâs sense of self-worth and value is mostly based on external things--the perceptions other people have of him. When Ukoku asks him what it is he wants Bishop Filbert to acknowledge him for, he says âI wanted him to need me. Weâre not blood related, and thereâs nothing definite that connects us; so I wanted him to acknowledge my existence.â Like I canât really overemphasize the importance of what this means to him. Hazel, ever since he was a child, has been constantly seeking a sense of purpose through the validation and approval of other people. He sees his value solely based on his function to the people he loves.Â
What Ukoku tells him is that human beings have no intrinsic worth--that their value is determined arbitrarily by the subjective view of others, and that these things are always in flux. A positive perception of someone could easily skew negative, and vice versa, based on someoneâs mood or impression of you.Â
Hazel internalizes this hard. And the problem with basing your entire personal perception off others opinions, and living your life in pursuit of that validation, is... well, first of all, itâs never going to be enough for you, right? Even if you get the validation youâre after, your sense of purpose and value is coming from something outside yourself that you canât control. Youâre always going to be fighting to keep it and hold onto it. Beyond that, you also donât--really know who you are. Hazel crafts certain fictions about himself throughout Reload, and he believes them, because he has to. Because itâs the thing that lets him keep pushing eastward, that keeps him focused on his goals, that keeps him from falling the fuck apart.Â
He believed that becoming an exorcist was the only way to secure his place in Filbertâs life, because the alternative was believing that nothing really connected them and that Filbert would never see him as family. He believed that his powers of necromancy were something given to him, personally, specifically, and that they are pulling him towards a mission. A purpose. That heâs crossed the sea to Do Right and Save Humanity and thatâs his quest, thatâs what he was meant to do. He ties his value to his powers of resurrection, and he expects thatâs the primary value others see in him too. All the constant praise he gets from the people he saves just hammers that in deeper.Â
By the end of Reload, Hazel has come to realize that he was wrong. The powers he thought made him special were--really just a matter of random chance. A scared kid who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Not only that, but the powers he believed were a gift of divine providence to him were powers he was leeching from a literal demon that was possessing his body. But he also knows, I think, that the... other things were wrong too. That Filbert loved him unconditionally. Gat destroyed Hazelâs soul-hoarding pendant (their safeguard to ensure that Hazel could revive him when needed) and died to protect him, because he saw Hazelâs worth. Not for what he could do but just for who he was. For nothing that Hazel ever had to consciously prove.
Whatâs good about where Reload leaves him, imo, is that now that heâs had these realizations, he can do something with them. Hazel has to learn to understand himself better now, to see his own intrinsic worth and value, in part because he now has to deal with the fact that he has this monster inside of him. On a practical level, he has to develop that sense of self-awareness, to keep Varahal from taking over his body ever again. Â
Seeing Hazel weep over Gatâs bandanna breaks my heart every time I see it, but thereâs an odd sort of hope there. That on a metaphorical level, Hazel can and will be able to accept the darkest parts of himself, and for the first time, find a sense of meaning and purpose that is self-defined. And while I doubt heâs ever coming back in the comics, I like to think that the Hazel developing somewhere off the panels is gradually taking steps towards being a wiser, more empathetic, and more self-actualized person.

All of then for the animal crossibg post by ily
ily too ;_; iâll do all the ones i havenât answered yet!
1. Are you of the âTom Nook is a crookâ or âTom Nook is an honest businessmanâ opinion?
definitely the latter. tom nook is a funny round animal in a hawaiian shirt, just like me!
2. Do you play as yourself or a made up character?
i play as myself because animal crossing is one of the few games where i can give my character my stupid haircut.
3. Where is your house located?
in front of nookâs cranny, right by the beach!
4. Who were your first villagers?
bam and rocket
6. What villager personalities do you typically get along best with?
i think i get along with all of them except cranky and snooty. iâm partial to smug, peppy, and uchi villagers though!
8. Is there a villager you want to get rid of?
iâm trying to get rid of rocco, but he doesnât seem to mind that i straight up do not talk to him.
9. Do you hoard a lot of items?
i donât think so! i tend to sell stuff if i donât want it or if i donât have a place for it.
11. Where is your favorite spot in your village?
the one section on the east part of my island that has the museum, puddlesâ house, my windflower garden and the able sistersâ store.
12. What achievement do you want to hit the most? (Ex: Golden equipment, all fish/bugs, etc)
i wanna fill up my whole museum!
13. Do you know any secret tips?
nope
14. Who are your dreamies?
I HAVE SO MANY thereâs kyle, oâhare, jacques, punchy, filbert, pietro, cherry, raddle, and (not to be basic but) raymond. but i donât really want to have an island full of dream villagers because i like meeting new ones, and if i had all my dream villagers thereâd be a disproportionate amout of smug villagers. the conversations between me and my villagers would get REALLY repetitive.
16. Favorite clothing item / outfit?
i have a lot because i buy so much clothes :â) but i love my work boots (i bought every color) my lace up boots (also bought every color of those), my biker jackets, my skull tees, my fishing waders, my funny face socks, and my staff uniform because it looks like my jobâs uniform.
17. Favorite museum room?
the art room and the fish room
18. Cedar, fruit, or palm tree?
fruit tree
19. Favorite fruit?
peaches
21. Favorite bug?
i like orchid mantises and madagascan sunset moths
22. Favorite flower breed?
i like them all, but i think windflowers and hyacinths are the prettiest.
23. Favorite crossbred rare flower breed + color?
the purple and black tulips are soooooo nice!
27. Favorite KK song?
KK dirge
28. Favorite animal crossing game?
iâve only had it for a month but i gotta say new horizons! but i also love new leaf.
29. youâve played Animal Crossing before, are there any animals youâre nostalgic for? If this is your first game, has any animal in particular left some effect on you?
i miss kyle, oâhare and jacques :(

im sorry for adding directly to the post but oh my GOSH i love weevils.
the first one looks like Trachelophorus madegassus, it looks very similar to the madagascar giraffe weevil, but is in fact a different species!
second one looks like the New Zealand giraffe weevil, Lasiorhynchus barbicornis!! despite also being named giraffe weevil, it is in a completely different genus to the first one and the following one!
this next one is a giraffe weevil, same family as the first one but different! itâs Trachelophorus giraffa
then those guys repeat, and then the next three look like different weevils from the Pachyrhynchus family! those guys have so many different colours and are so wildÂ
i dont know what the next two are, but they look to be in the family Curculionidae and probably the sub family Curculioninae, cause thats normally where nut weevils are and they look like they eat nuts!! the next one looks like a small filbert weevil, my favourites, Curculio occidentis! it does look a little different so maybe not exactly that but id pretty confidently say it is in the genus Curculio and probly eats acorns or some other kind of nut
that next guy i have seen before but i cant remember who he is!! i would say hes not a nut weevil because his snout doesnt look like it could get inside a nut (not pointy enough). i would hazard a guess at him being a fungus weevil? cause their snouts are normally wider. could also be a belid! would need a better photo of him (without the background edited out) to try to know more.Â
that next one is a spiny weevil from ecuador!! theyre also one of my favourites, i recognised him right away. he is, i believe, in a genus called Prionomerus, but i cant find any more info!! weevils, like all insects, are very poorly documented due to how many there are of them. but if you google Prionomerus you can find some empty wiki pages in a different language and a couple photos of him.
on the next part, the flying one might be a belid, specifically a long nosed weevil? not sure though, it moves quick! and the yellow one looks like a particularly yellow kind of Lixus pulverulentus, but im not too sure, and they also dont have much info online :((
next one looks like another acorn weevil!!
the first one on the next section looks like a fungus weevil (its the snout) and the other one looks like the same guy from earlier which i said id need a better picture for. if anything, this picture of him is worse, but i can see that his antennae are bent, which i believe would make him a âtrue weevilâ in the family curculionidae!
giraffe weevil again! btw, you can tell this guy isnt in curculionidae (the true weevils) because his antennae are straight, not elbowed, meaning its in a different family!
bended antennae? true weevil bae. straight, without elbow? true weevil? no!
thats a little mnemonic to help remember. i just thought that up now.Â
these next guys look like relatives of the giraffe weevil, some other type of leaf rolling weevil in that family, Attelabidae. cant really tell much more about them, and i dont really wanna pry in on their private times :3
the bigger guy here is most DEFINITELY a filbert weevil, and i once again cant tell the other guy, but his antennae look bent so hes probably in curculionidae and probably a nut weevil from the look of the snout!
madagascar giraffe weevil again, followed by the new zealand giraffe weevils again, followed by the very first weevil (the close relative of the giraffe weevil), and thats it!
i thought this would be a lot shorter than it was, but this was soooo much fun!! i got to show off what i already knew AND i got to google heaps and learn a lot more! (i didnt even know the thing about the antennae until just now, thats so cool to learn!)
thanks for tagging me in this this is such a fun video. sorry for deconstructing it like this LOL
people have probably already seen this, but...weevils are pretty cool.
#feel free to tag me in more weevil stuff this was so much fun and i dont wanna do my bio assignment#corntent#weevils#WOW weevils

TDBM Fic: The Pleasure of Your Company ~ 7
The final chapter is for the ladies. Â
7. Hen NightÂ
Rose tended to avoid situations which made her feel useless. Â Tonight, she was surrounded by just such a scenario. Â Lucien had called it Jean's hen night but with just two women alone in the large, creaky house, it was hardly such a frivolous occasion. Â It was something much more unsettling than a party.
Jean was finalizing all the wedding details with the precision of a battlefield general. Â She was no nervous bride, but cool and steely-eyed, reviewing her troops in the forms of vases full of flowers and canapes on silver trays, all ready to be picked up by the club caterers. Â Not that she didn't trust the catering or decorators, Jean assured Rose as she tweaked a wilting bloom, but it would be a personal touch.
"I don't know how you keep this all straight," Rose said nervously, swirling her sherry in the glass. Â
"It's pretty simple. Â Just like any church fete--" Â Jean stopped talking and found her own glass among the debris on the kitchen table. Â With a gulp, it was emptied, and she refilled their glasses. Â
Rose knew she had to change the subject. Â "Haven't you ordered a cake from Filbert's Bakery?"
"Yes," Jean said, shifting her gaze. Â
"Then...what's this?" Â Rose motioned to a square, two-tiered cake covered in pale frosting and silver piping. Â
"I saw this idea in a magazine," Jean said quickly. Â "A groom's cake. Â The English and Americans do them."
"It's a different flavour?"
"No..." Â Jean murmured, continuing to be evasive, "It's a fruit cake too. Â But it's soaked in rum."
"Alright," Rose said slowly. "That sounds right for Lucien."
Jean gave a snort and hiccup as she sipped her sherry. Â
"With a second cake, I'll be sure to have the pieces to freeze. Â A layer for our first anniversary." Â Jean had that bright smile that Rose was seeing more and more on her face. Then she mumbled absentmindedly, "The second layer is for your child's christening." Â
Rose choked on her sherry. Â
"Yes, well." Â Flushing, Jean returned to her flowers. "Let me start on the bouquets," she announced with determination, and began to sort through the vases for just the right blooms. Â
Rose wandered from the kitchen. "Lucien hasn't shown you the studio yet?" Â The heavy dark doors to the studio were closed, and the key was in the lock with a red ribbon hanging from it. Â
Abandoning her task, Jean joined her. Â "No." Â She leaned in close and lowered her voice despite the fact that they were alone. Â "I'm certain he's scattered rose petals on the bed. Some red roses are missing from my vases."
Rose wrapped her arm around Jean's shoulders and gushed, "Oh, that's sweet," then realised that she was a bit tipsy. Â And when Jean flopped against her, Rose knew she wasn't the only one. Â
"Sweet," Jean agreed. Â "And sappy." Â She sighed heavily. Â "He's a big romantic." Â She flicked the red ribbon on the key and frowned. Â "Sentimental."
"Charlie would never do that," Rose announced. Â "Not even one bloody daisy."
"Oh, honey," Jean said, taking Rose's hand and leading her back to the kitchen. Â
Rose was determined to clear the air. Â "Charlie just wasn't the sort of chap."
Jean furrowed her brow. Â "What sort?"
"Who made grand gestures."
"Did you want grand gestures?"
"I suppose not." Â Rose brooded into her glass. Â "Would have made it more difficult to end it."
"I think--" Â Jean had become owlish as the drink took effect. Â "--that the two of you just wanted different things. Â No harm in seeing that and calling it quits." Â It was her turn to stare into the depths of her sherry. Â "There's the sort of opposites that click, like the bolt and the box of a well-oiled lock, and then the sorts that never quite align."
Rose said, "He wanted a wife and family. Â I don't, at least not now." Jean was pulling stems from vases and bunching the blooms together, trying to find the right colours for the bouquets. Rose rushed to add, "Not that there's anything wrong with marriage."
"As long as it's for other people?" Jean suggested.
Rose smiled weakly. Â "I guess?"
"Perhaps some day you'll find the right person and the won't seem to be any question."
Rose had that flare of anger that she always felt when someone, usually an older woman, told her something like that. Â But before she could protest, Jean added, "The funny thing is, I wanted to be married again, and yet when perfectly pleasant, fine men presented themselves, I'd hold back." Â She held up a bunch of flowers with a cream ribbon holding it together. Â "Enough?"
"Yes. I don't think you want too much. Â Keep it simple so your dress shines. Â Your smile shines."
"My smile? Â Do you think I'll be smiling? Â Or crying?"
"Definitely smiling." Â They exchanged grins.
Rose was suddenly struck by a horrifying thought. Â "You were waiting around for Lucien to come his senses, weren't you?" Â Then glared at her sherry glass accusingly, but Jean seemed to be in a tolerate mood this evening. Â
"No--or, I wasn't, here." Jean tapped her temple. "Perhaps just...here." Â She lay her hand over her heart. "Even after I could acknowledge that I wanted to...be in his company, the first time he went to propose, I thought I was going to faint. Every reason why we shouldn't marry just jumped into my head and I'm quite sure I wouldn't have been able to say yes, even though I couldn't imagine being anywhere but here--" Â She looked around the kitchen. Â "--with him. Â But to be Mrs Blake--" She patted Rose's hand and her eyes shimmered with tears. Â "There's a difference, you know, between loving someone and wanting to marry them."
Rose's head felt heavy as a rock. She propped it on her free hand. "It all sounds rather complicated."
"Not the second time he asked. Â Saying yes was the easiest thing I've ever done." Â The grin was back. Â
The women clinked their sherry glasses, a bit surprised to see they were full again. Â
"I'll take your word for it," Rose said.
Jean looked very solemn. Â "However, if you're going to continue to kiss your toads while looking for your prince--" Â Rose rolled her eyes. Â Jean continued, "You should see the doctor about...a solution...if you're going to continue to do more than...kiss. The toads. That is."
It took Rose a moment to process what Jean had said. Â "Oh! Â Right! Â Well, yes." Â She gasped a laugh. Â "My mum wouldn't ever say this to me. But of course, she's as innocent as the day she was married while you--" She blinked. Â She really needed to stop drinking. Â She pushed away her sherry glass. Â
Jean didn't look put out. Â She was turning her glass slowly, her cheeks pink. Â "Well, I know what you think was happening...or was going to happen when you ran into me in the corridor. Â But it wasn't."
"You really were going for your knitting?"
"Okay, no," Jean confessed. Â "But when I had another moment to think, I decided it's best to wait. Â I didn't have that sort of wedding night with Christopher, but I will with Lucien." Â She stroked the pale petal of the rose with which she was making his boutonniere. Â "There's only one first time, after all." Â
"I'm sure Lucien was very understanding."
Jean giggled.
Rose nudged her shoulder. Â "Rose petals on the bed." Â
With a laugh, Jean held up Rose's bouquet. Â "What do you think?"
"Gorgeous. Â But we better get to bed, speaking of needing to look gorgeous."
Jean pushed back her limp curls. "And sober up a bit."
x
Alice finally forced herself to get out of her car and walk slowly down the pavement toward the Colonists' Club. Â She'd watched the other guests file in but now the crowd was down to a trickle. Â As she entered the cool darkness of the foyer, she realised the error of her decision. Â A waiter peeked expectantly down the stairwell, and when he saw that she wasn't the bride, thinned his lips and disappeared. Â Everyone would be watching for Jean and Rose, and instead, she would coming up the stairs...or not....she began to ease back toward the doorway when Rose popped her head out a room off the foyer. Â
"Oh, Alice! Â We need you!"
Unsure, Alice entered the room. Â It smelled of fresh flowers, face cream and hair spray. Â Jean was leaned on a dressing table for support, her wedding dress half on. Â At first she thought Jean was sobbing with distress, but she was gasping with laughter.
Still, Alice asked, "What's wrong?" with alarm.
Rose slammed the door closed, then had to put her hand to her forehead. Â "Bloody hell," she gasped.
"Bloody hell instead," moaned Jean, carefully sipping from a cup of tea so not to spill on her dress. Â
"What's wrong?" Alice repeated. Â She was good in a crisis, but she couldn't even determine what the problem was. Â
"Can't get the buttons up. Â So small," said Rose.
"My fault really. Â Just had to have these pearl buttons," explained Jean. Â
Alice put down her handbag. Â "Let's see about this," she said, trying to sound more confident than she felt. Â Then she confessed, "But do remember, I'm not accustomed to putting clothing on a body, only taking them off," and was instantly horrified, but Rose and Jean burst into laughter. Perhaps she hadn't put her foot into it.
Jean straightened and squared her shoulders with great dignity. Â "We're a touch hungover, Alice. Â Please pardon us."
"Hungover?" Alice asked, askance. Â
"Just a touch," Rose told her. Â "But I can't seem to focus on those buttons." Â She gripped her head again. Â "So small."
"I can do small," Alice assured Jean. Â Carefully, she slipped the round pearls through the fine loops over the satin corset and up to the nape of Jean's neck.Â
"Could you do my necklace as well?" Â Alice worked that fine clasp, feeling very useful. Â
Rose was trying to put her hair up, but it kept falling down. Â "Blast," she growled.
"Don't worry about it," said Jean. "You look lovely as you are."
"Hungover," Rose reminded her, and they both giggled.
"I'm terribly thirsty," said Jean, draining her teacup. Â
"You'll need to re-hydrate, and get to bed early," said Alice, picking up her handbag and giving her hat a quick check in the mirror.
"I'll be married to Lucien Blake in..." Jean checked the wall clock. Â "--ten minutes. Â I don't think that shall be a problem."
Rose and Jean started to laugh again, and Alice could only beat a retreat, deciding that she was missing some necessary gene to bond with other women. Â She scampered up the stairs without any thought of her very public entrance, too busy trying to remove images of Lucien Blake undoing those fine buttons, unlacing that satin corset, and all else that would follow. Â Because she thought of Lucien as a good mate, and that was the last thing that one wanted to picture a good mate doing. Â
Befuddled, she didn't realise that she was walking down the aisle, and everyone was turning in their seats and looking at her. Â Before mortification could root her to the floor, Matthew caught her gaze, questioning. Â She gave him a reassuring smile and he nodded back. Â
"Here's a spot, Doctor Harvey," said Danny Parker, getting her attention and patting the chair beside him. She smiled a thanks and sat. She had a place after all, among good friends. Â
Lucien was checking his pocket watch and Matthew clasped him on the shoulder. Â "It's time." Â

Allowed to Be
*Season 3 Spoilers!*
Summary: Heâs not Shiro, and they all know it. He is someone though, and he gets a say in that.
Notes: SEASON 3 SPOILERS. Iâm not sure Iâm completely sold on the Shiroâs clone theory, but there is some interesting evidence there, and it seems pretty obvious that if he is Shiroâs clone, he doesnât know that. Itâs going to be rough on everyone when they find out, not least of all the clone himself. So this is a little snippet that takes place after they find out heâs a clone, but before theyâve found the real Shiro.
*Edit: I had time to post to AO3 today, so if you like that format better, hereâs the link.
He was sitting wedged in the corner of a couch in the most abandoned looking and hidden lounge he could find. It was terrible knowing that everything felt so familiar and that none of it should. The whole castle registered somewhere in his chest as safe, but his head was telling him that certainty didnât belong to him.
He had begged Coran to get rid of the arm when the truth had become undeniable. He wasnât who he thought he was, he wasnât what he thought it was. He was a weapon made to hurt the people he loved, and he would do anything to stop that, even if there was a little voice in his head telling him he had no right to love them.
He had wanted the arm gone, but now that it was, he was left feeling vulnerable and exposed. Pidge and Hunk were working on a new one with Coranâs help, but for now, he was stuck in a castle in the middle of space, down an arm, and knowing everyone wished he was someone else.
âHey there.â
He jumped a little at the cheerful greeting, squinting as Lance brought up the lights.
âHi,â he said hesitantly.
âBrooding in the dark again, I see,â Lance flopped down beside him, throwing his feet up on the coffee table and pulling out a tablet.
He gave him a dour look. Out of everyone in the castle, Lance was the only one who routinely sought him out. Hunk would come looking for him occasionally to make sure he wasnât starving to death, Pidge and Coran would come with questions or new tests they needed to run, Keith avoided him at all cost, but Lance would just show up and stay in whatever room he was in, sometimes talking, sometimes not.
Lance had brought his tablet this time, so he probably was planning on working instead of talking, which was just as well. Talking sounded terrible.
âYou need to choose a name,â Lance said without looking up from his tablet.
âWhat?â he lifted his head to give Lance a blank stare.
âYour name isnât Shiro, and we canât keep calling you âhey youâ,â Lance said practically, still flipping through screens.
He glared at Lance, but Lance seemed unperturbed by him. When Lance still didnât look up, he curled more tightly against the armrest of the couch and went back to staring out the window.
âSo are you more of a name by meaning or name by sounding cool guy?â Lance asked.
âNeither,â he grumbled.
âWell, lucky for you we can sort either way,â Lance held the tablet out to him.
âYou can sort by coolness?â he didnât take it, âalso sort what?â
âNames,â Lance hit a few buttons on the tablet, then dropped it in his lap, âthere you go, top 25 names for forty different planets, all of them in the Voltron Alliance, except Earth, but I canât not put Earth names on there.â
âLance,â he rubbed the bridge of his nose in exasperation.
âYouâre probably better off picking something thatâs not too hard to pronounce,â Lance ignored him, âbut, hey, itâs your name. Pick whatever you want.â
âKuron,â he responded bitterly, but he still flicked open the tab with Earth names.
âYou are not naming yourself clone,â Lance said firmly, âyouâre a who, not a what.â
He stared at him for a moment, then swallowed and dropped his gaze back to the tablet, scrolling through the long list of names, randomly clicking on some, then going back. Lance settled beside him, shoulders so close they were touching, and pulled out his âspace cell phoneâ to start texting.
There were a lot of names to look at, and it didnât take him long to figure out he didnât want an alien name. It didnât matter if he was technically an alien; he felt like he was from Earth, and thatâs what he wanted. That still left him with a lot of names to go through. It was overwhelming.
Lance laughed at his phone, and he glanced over at him, âwho are you texting?â
âKeith,â Lance grinned.
âIâm almost afraid to ask,â he said with a shake of his head.
âHeâs on the training deck,â Lance supplied, âhe always forgets to take breaks. If I text him, he has to stop and answer, because heâs team lead now, and he canât ignore us anymore.â
âDoes that actually work?â it sounded dubious to him, especially with Keith.
âAs long as I make the first text sound kind of like itâs important, I can keep him distracted for at least 10 or 15 minutes,â Lance grinned.
Something very much like pride swelled in his chest for Lance. He felt like maybe he didnât have a right to it, because he had never really been his commanding officer or teammate, but Lance had grown so much, and grown into his role as second in command so well. When they found Shiro, the real Shiro, he was going to be so proud of him. He was going to be proud of all of them.
That, at least, he was sure of.
He glanced over at Lanceâs phone in time to see him text âDRINK WATERâ before Lance dropped the phone on the couch beside him and turned his attention to the tablet.
âFind anything you like?â Lance asked.
He shook his head. Nothing felt right except the name that wasnât his.
âHow about Filbert?â Lance suggested.
âNo,â he wrinkled his nose, âdefinitely not.â
âKail?â Lance reached over to scroll through the names.
âLike the green stuff?â he raised an eyebrow.
âItâs good for you,â Lance grinned.
âNo,â he said firmly.
âPadhraig!â Lance cheered, âmeans regal. Grey hair is supposed to make you look regal, right?â
âYouâre a dork,â he laughed, shoulders finally relaxing.
They scrolled through the names together for a while, Lance making terrible suggestions the whole time. He was going to pass on being an Egbert, thank you very much.
Then they got to the Rs, and he spotted Ryo. The meaning changed based on the kanji used to spell it, but it could mean cold. He thought about the ice planet he had crashed on, his first breath of free air, burning in his throat. He hadnât known it then, but it was the first breath of free air he had ever had.
âRyo,â he said the name out loud, and it felt nice on his tongue.
âYeah?â Lance leaned over his shoulder curiously, reading through the meanings, âit means light. I like it.â
âOr dragon,â he countered with a grin.
âOr forgiveness,â Lanceâs answering smile was soft.
Slowly, the idea of a name that was his own, that hadnât been stolen and violently forced on him, sunk into his chest, settled there like a comfortable weight. He was allowed to have things that belonged to him, were unique to him. He was allowed to be a person.
âRyo,â he repeated, âI like it, too.â
âThen itâs yours,â Lance said, as if it was just that easy.
And maybe just this once, it could be.
He was finding he liked working out, particularly running. He didnât like sparring at all, even with the new arm. He didnât want to fight anymore. Running, though, felt good, felt like a release of everything that was built up and coiled tight inside him.
âHey Ryo.â
It took him a half second to process the name, to slide it into the slot that meant him. It fit there snuggly, and he was finding every time he heard it, it got easier and easier to keep it there.
âWhatâs up?â he flipped off the treadmill and turned to look at Hunk.
âDinnerâs almost ready. You want to come eat?â Hunk asked.
âYeah,â Ryo smiled, âIâll be right there.â

BIRD Food FAQ
1. Why is it important to buy my BIRD different food according to her current life stage? Like humans, animals have different nutritional needs depending on their age. As an example, kittens need diets rich in protein and calories in order to support fast-paced growth and development. Older BIRDs may need low-calorie food or one with specific nutrients to minimize the risk of weight-gain and age-related issues. âAll life stageâ option is not advisable for certain animals and may have unintended adverse effects. Many dry BIRD foods are specifically made for the elder BIRDs, butâŠYour best bet is to consult with your veterinarian so he or she can help you make a more informed decision. 2. Should I use the feeding recommendations on the food label? While helpful as general guidelines, feeding recommendations on the bag labels may not be the right fit for your feline depending on her age, overall health status, and lifestyle, so consult with your vet. 3. Is my pet overweight? There are a few ways to tell: Run your hands along her flankâyou should be able to easily feel but not see her ribs.Look down at your feline from aboveâthere should be a clear narrowing at the waist.Look at your kitty from the sideâyou should see a narrowing from this angle, too. 4. Can my kitty have âpeopleâ food? Avoid the temptation to slip her scraps from your plate. Aside from the risk of accidentally giving her something toxic, giving your feline small treats can easily lead to weight gain and nutrient imbalances. 5. Can BIRD food go Bad? This depends on the food and the way itâs stored: All feline food should be used before the expiration date on the label. If your kitty is âfree feed,â you can leave her dry granules out as long as it isnât moist or exposed to high heat.Canned food should be thrown away after itâs been left out for 4+ hours, and opened cans can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.Wash and refill your petâs food and water dishes at least weekly. 6. How much should I feed my BIRD? As mentioned, the amount you feed your pet depends on its age, health status, activity level, and a few other factors. Your vet can help you determine how much is right for your animal. A typical 10-lb kitty needs only around 250 calories per day to maintain an appropriate lean body mass. P S. These adult dry foods with real chicken meats (and other poultry) are great for your adult BIRD. You can serve her this popular chicken meal without the fear of gaining extra pounds. 7. How much water should I give her? Always have fresh water available for your animal! Proper hydration helps her digest her nutrients and avoid health problems like dehydration and urinary tract infections. Important to note that proper hydration is even more important when the BIRD is eating only dry BIRD food. 8. Why does my BIRD eat only from the middle of her bowl? If your BIRDâs dish is too deep and narrow, then she may struggle eating out of it because the sides of the dish can cause pain if her sensitive whiskers bump up against them. To compensate, she may try to eat out of the center only. 9. Should I change up my BIRDâs food from time to time, or keep it the same? This is highly individual and depends on the unique preferences and health needs of your furry friend. If you want to change your petâs food, do it slowly and introduce new things to her diet in small amounts. 10. When should I transition my BIRD from kitten to adult BIRD food? Expect to change over your kittenâs food around age one. Transition slowly and be sure to monitor her response to ensure sheâs adjusting well.

North Beach
There has to be something in the air. There has to be something that is telling you that this cannot be real, that this is a dream, that deep down it could not be true. I am not describing sex, or landing a career, or even watching Star Wars for the first time. I am instead trying to convey to you the emotion I have everytime I get to walk through North Beach, a neighborhood situated in the northeastern corner of the city. I think I stumbled upon it by accident, probably lost sometime in middle school, sweating bullets that I was never going to find the 38, and subsequently, never make it home. Even in that instance, I still had a vague grasp on just how freaking cool this place was.
It was only last year that I set off on a (very) poorly planned Europe trip for almost a month. With my best friend in tow, we left America, not knowing just how many shenanigans we would get into while abroad. Europe was amazing, as we went from the narrow alleyways of Paris, sipping fine red wine, to flying by the Swedish countryside on scooters, to discussing socialism while haggling with Danish locals, all the way to (almost) getting locked overnight in a Czech cathedral. It was a paradise, in short. But, for some reason or other, we never made it to Italy. Which is strange, because in all facets of my life, especially those in which I devour art, it seemed like I was skewing more and more towards Italy in terms of interest. My favorite films recently seemed to all stem from minds such as Fellini, Petri, and Pasolini. My taste in music had seen the same shift- I traded in loop pedals and washed out guitar riffs for old school organs and synthesizers. In place of Radiohead, Mitski, and The Strokes, I was now enamored with artists such as Piero Umiliani, Stelvio Cipriani, and Armando Trovajoli, all 70âs lounge legends. They made me feel like my life was one big screening of La Dolce Vita. I knew that my dream car, even though I only have my permit as of writing, had to be made by Fiat or Alfa Romeo in the 70âs. And donât even get me started on the tailoring of houses like Brioni and Loro Piana. So why didnât we go to Italy? Well, I guess thatâs because Iâve had North Beach my whole life.
I did not grow up in North Beach, and I certainly didnât know anyone who did when I was younger. It was just a true coincidence that I found myself stumbling among itâs streets one day, blown away by where I was. Just like any neighborhood, it had its own air, itâs own smells, and most of all, itâs own vibe. (Cue the real estate developers.) For a while, North Beach was my little slice of Europe. It felt like a vacation every time I went there, since I lived about an hour away by bus. San Francisco is small for a city, which is why Iâve never thought about it that way. North Beach especially hammers that notion home. The thin alleyways, confusing dead ends, and surprising number of parks located there almost make you feel like youâre in a West Coast version of Call Me By Your Name, except instead of Armie Hammer in a speedo, you have a guy named Derek in a patagonia vest. (The swathes of tech workers have spread to every inch of town, and donât let anyone tell you different.) Still, you canât shake the feeling that youâre in a special, almost sacred place. It is not like any other, with the smell of focaccia lingering, mixing in with the scent of less than stellar cigarettes, usually from the same bakery. Is it touristy? Yes. Do I care? Not really. After a while, you just learn to tune them out. Instead, you take note of the old men yelling at each other in front of coffee shops, the beautiful array of pastries in every window, and maybe, if youâre lucky, the people at Z. Chiocolottoâs letting you get two free taffy samples instead of just one. These are all facets of this beautiful, vibrant neighborhood. And now, onto some memories.
It was my senior year of high school, and me and one my best friends were talking about prom, happening later that weekend. I had called the girl I was supposed to go with around 4 or 5 times, anxious that she was going to cancel. Why? Because I was in high school, and thatâs how my brain works. Little did I know she was celebrating shabbat with her family and had turned her phone off that night. So, in the midst of my nerves and anxiety, a friend and I went over to get a slice, calm myself , and discuss how we were going to âmake a moveâ this weekend. We went over to Tonyâs off Columbus, and got mouth blasted by the best damn pizza Iâve ever eaten. They do calzones there too, but donât bother with those. Tonyâs is probably the only place Iâve ever heard of that has a slicehouse with an actual school for making pizza above it. Internationally recognized and accredited, of course. But again, ignore the calzones. Anything but a slice with pepperoni, or just cheese if you're a veggieboi, seems like sacrilege. We took our slices up to the highest hill in North Beach and looked down on the rest of the city. It was beautiful, with the fog rolling in to make it a classic San Francisco night, along with the ocean breeze coming from a nearby Pacific Ocean. Of course, as picturesque as it sounds, we kept it casual, sitting on the curb of the street, eating pizza, trying not to get hit by some out of townie driving an Uber, happy to just be alive. We began discussing the future. Would we get laid at prom? Eh, probably not. Would we have fun either way? Well, hopefully. Would we still stay friends after high school? Of course we would. We had agreed to be friends for life, no matter how long we went without seeing each other. It was one of those moments where you reflected on your past, appreciated the present, and somehow, in some insane way, even saw a glimpse of your future. And of course, because of the romantic I am, this glimpse involved us back in North Beach, going back to Tonyâs, this time with our wives and kids, discussing how much things have changed, but really stayed the same.
I hadnât been on a date in a while. Well, that wasnât exactly true. Previously, I was seeing (this is a fairly generous word) a girl from down south, one that I met on a free 10-day tour of Israel. Zionist propaganda? Check. Sweltering heat that never, ever let up? Of course. Extreme amounts of sexual tension between young Jewish adults, propped up by the magic of the mediterranean countryside? Oh my god, yes. Anyways, it was on and off, with us being in different places, both geographically and emotionally. After a particularly bad weekend, we broke things off. I was alone. And yet, in the throes of my emotions, I somehow thought that the best way to get over her was to jump right back into the dating scene. In short, I was ready to get hurt again. If the theme to Curb Your Enthusiasm isnât playing in your head right now, it should be. A couple weeks later, I decided to go out with another girl. Pressed for options and out of my mind in anxiety, I suggested the comforting embrace of North Beach. She said yes.
In truth, we had started over at Glen Park, but walked over to North Beach later in the night. If that seems like a long distance, itâs because it is. But I didnât mind. My anxiety is quickly squashed whenever I have something physical to do. We walked and talked for a while, got caught in the rain, took pictures with old cars, and talked about how much we loved analog photography. I liked her. So it was really a move when I took her down to Filbert Steps to look at the city, illuminated in light and surrounded by water. The Filbert Steps are right down by Coit Tower, a cluster of old houses entrenched in flora that were once the life work of a gardener who lived there. Itâs almost an otherworldly site, seeing these great buildings hidden in the flowers and trees of the hill they were built on. I wanted to explore and get lost, but then we just started talking, and I had completely forgotten about that. She said she needed to be home by 9, she had work the next day. By midnite, after glancing at my watch in the middle of a discussion about French workwear, I could tell that wasnât going to happen. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Aaron Peskin, the Supervisor for District 8 (which includes North Beach) comes walking down the steps. Because Iâm a north beach nerd, I recognized him immediately and asked âHey, are you Aaron Peskin?â. He replied with this: âNope! My nameâs Bubba!â. It was probably the greatest thing that had ever happened to me. We had coincidentally sat right outside his house, and we begun to strike up conversation with the man. He was intelligent, knowledgeable, and seemed like a really great guy all around. He even offered me a job cat sitting while he was out of town later that summer. It felt like a dream. Later that night, I walked her back to her MUNI train. It was a good night. We both agreed that there definitely had to be a second date. Â
North Beach is a paradise, and I got the privilege to work over there this summer as an intern for a low-income housing complex. Many days were stressful, but the best part of it was the walk down Columbus on my way home, passing old cafes, Fiat repair shops, and old mom and pop bike stores. It made me feel good to be alive. In many ways, the whole neighborhood does. And thatâs not something you can really describe, no matter how many words you put on paper.

đ„ł - A birthday/party related headcanon
When Hazelâs birthday was coming around the year he started schooling, Filbert offered to let him invite some friends from school over for a party. As it started getting closer to the date, Filbert asked him if heâd given any thought to who heâd like to have over. Hazel was--pretty dodgy on the subject and clearly didnât want to talk about it too much, and Filbert very quickly realized âOh.... oh he hasnât made any friends...â
He always really tried to make Hazelâs birthdays special. Heâd cook Hazelâs favorite meal and bake him a cake, and give him some kind of gift. Hazel was--a hard person to shop for, because I think Hazel was the kind of kid who wouldâve been afraid to ask for anything? Like for fear that heâd make Filbert mad. Just like âso what do you want for your birthday--â â--I DONâT NEED ANYTHING IâM HAPPY JUST STAYING HERE WITH YOU MASTER!!â
Hazel wouldâve been happy with anything Filbert gave him. Books were usually a safe bet, but he tried for more sentimental things that had a bit more meaning. Hazelâs favorite gift, one heâs still held onto to this day, is Filbertâs Bible from seminary. Itâs marked up with notes and highlights, and even as an adult Hazel would read from it every night.Â
He lost it after the fall he took during the fight with Ukoku. He went up the cliffside briefly to see if he could find his and Gatâs bag, but it was gone when he got there. Looted, probably, but a part of him does hope that maybe Sanzoâs group took it when they left. Not likely, but if he should ever run into them on the road again heâd ask.Â
đŒ - A music related headcanon
Hazel sings/hums/whistles a lot to himself, especially when heâs alone. Heâs not a âcompanionable silenceâ sort of guy--it makes him uncomfortable. He definitely sings in the shower. This includes public baths, sorry to anyone whoâs ever shared one with him.Â
Traveling through China, he falls back on the songs he grew up on mostly. Lots of old folk ballads. They ease his homesickness a little and make him feel less like a fish out of water.Â
đą - An anger related headcanon
Heâs a little afraid of his own anger, once he really settles into the knowledge that thereâs a demon possessing his body. Afraid of any loss of emotional control, frankly, because if you canât keep your emotions in check, how can you keep the murder demon who killed your dad and could take over your consciousness at any moment in check?Â
đ€ - A sleeping related headcanon
He realized quickly that he slept a lot more soundly when Gat was around to watch over him. Itâs a lot harder for him to fall asleep, his sleep is generally much more fitful, and thereâs this raw pit of grief and loneliness that settles in his stomach when he wakes up to just--an empty room.Â
