I’ve thought about Balthazar becoming besties with the Valkyries so many times! I also headcanon that he is possibly gay, but Azriel doesn’t know this, so when he sees Balthazar slipping an arm around Gwyn’s shoulder he gets jealous. 😂 imagine the Valkyries introducing Balthazar to smutty books and inviting him to their book club. I could actually see him supporting the Valkyries in Illyria.

🌸 Elain Archeron Week 2023, Day 2 - Sister and Friend 

This headcanon/theory is based on a few things:

This brilliant crack theory by @wingedblooms, and the subsequent thoughts reblogged by @ladynightcourt3, which posit that Elain may have shifting powers, and have taken the form of Balthazar in ACOSF's Blood Rite (the OP), as well as the priestess Ananke during Valkyrie training (the reblogs).

This corresponding crack theory by @psychologynerd, which hypothesises that Nuala and Cerridwen may be Roslin and Dierdre, two of the other training priestesses who are frequently seen with Ananke.

I highly recommend reading both theories by these supremely lovely and talented people, they make a lot of sense! But let's go...

I can't think of anything more appropriate for a trio of besties than for two of them to tease the third - lightheartedly, of course - when they discover a crush. Now I know the names Roslin and Ilana don't match up exactly with Roslin and Dierdre, but this could be explained by one of a few things:

The wraiths don't always wear the same bodies, and at this point they were Roslin and Ilana.

Only one of the twins, as Roslin, was teasing Elain at this time, and Ilana just has good taste.

Ilana, which means "torch, beautiful, light, bright, shining," is Elain (or she was on this day, instead of Ananke).

In the beginning, Elain thinks she's slick, asking for information about Azriel, like his favourite foods, or whether he has any aversions. Nuala and Cerridwen see through her falsely casual interrogation in an instant. But hey, we all have to start somewhere.

I can just imagine the glee lighting up Nuala and Cerridwen's eyes when they realised for whom Elain was developing feelings. Their boss, of all people! Who they probably know well and have a fairly good relationship with after a few centuries of being his personally trained spies, so I anticipate Azriel will cop his fair share from them in an Elriel book, too.

Nuala may have suggested that Elain train as a way to improve her balance for stealthy walking (if she is Ananke then she was as bad as Nesta initially) and self defence, but she conveniently forgot to warn her that Azriel would be taking the other priestesses through their exercises, not Cassian.

Cue the silent snickers and not-so-subtle looks when his back is turned, and Elain's ever blushing face.

That's something she'll obviously have to work on, pipes in Cerridwen.

Elain doing her best to balance, planting her feet in the dirt, yet still toppling over, only for Cerridwen to accuse her of doing it intentionally when Az is looking the other way, saying that she just wanted Azriel's undivided attention.

And when Elain does finally begin to improve, Nuala will give her a teeny, tiny nudge, just to see if they can get her to falter.

And maybe blush some more. For spy training.

At which point Cerridwen will say, deadpan, that Elain may be great at keeping others' secrets, but she sure as shit wears her own on her face.

I am really and truly hopeful that we'll finally get to see the two spies who masquerade as Rhys' own handmaidens at home and abroad for who they really are, through the eyes of their good friend, Elain, rather than someone who doesn't know them well. I think they'll have a lot of fun together, and we'll also see them all open up about their pasts, and their hopes and dreams for the future.

An AU of Mikhail where when he lost against Kralkatorrik, crushed by the guilt and grief to have lost Aurene and not be able to slay the Elder Dragon, instead of persevering right away, he went into the Mist to become stronger and find a world where he could save everyone. However, he became power-hungry, always seeking to become stronger until he forgot why he wanted to be stronger to begin with.

He is over my NA too and is named "Mikhail Lys B" until I got my hand on a character's name change thingy kgjnerg I'm also not satisfied with his current look, but I need to play for that─

Amal' is coming from the Mist, from a world where Trahearne and Mikhail were able to make a child ; Callan Amalrik... !

Amal' definitively took the courage of their parents and the combativity of Mikhail. Amal' can be gentle and playful, but be fierce in combat. One of their bestie is a Largos.

Amal' is the first character I ever created to be genderfluid, which is a challenge for me, not gonna lie. They use all pronouns, just depending of their mood (for that reason they have 2 outfit, one more feminine, and one more masculine (the one in the screenshot)). They/them is the basic one to use. They use "Callan" when they feel more feminine, "Amalrik" when more masculine, and "Amal' " when in-between/none (which I use by default).

Jaal and Siham !

Twin coming from the union between Nikare, Kenut and Mikhail... !

Jaal is the twin who looks the most like a Largos ; strong, the fins well-developed and the hard look. However, he enjoys more his connection to his Sylvari genes, but he is afraid to break the expectations that Nikare and Kenut put on him...

Siham is energetic, kind and friendly, even though her health and body aren't the best. Her fins are broken, not strong enough to move correctly. She is often seen on her mount as her body got tired easily. However, she has that instinct to hunt and have trophies like Largos has, which Mikhail helped to redirect toward having strong pets and beasts. She is very good at it and enjoys her menageries... !

They are both extremely protective of each other and are absolutely ready to fight. They have strong fighters as parents after all.

If I were in the BG3 universe:

🕸️ however if I woke up in the middle of the night and freaked out, I’d be most likely to wake up Wyll. The whole time this and the above is happening, I would have Nere in a vice grip and would not be letting go.

🕸️ I would be some sort of magic user. But if push came to shove in battle, I’d take a leaf out of Astarion’s book and start biting people. There’s a time and a place for dignity, and whilst I consider myself an otherwise very dignified person, I’m not opposed to fighting dirty if it’s necessary.

Finella's Keepsake Box: Final Version

I mentioned previously I've started making a Keepsake Box at camp for each of my characters, which is just a collection of random stuff that I think the character would want to hang onto, as a character building exercise!

Finella is my first Durge. My pet name for her is First Degree Murder Barbie. Pictured here with her two boyfriends and her bestie.

Her whole deal is that she's a bubbly girly-girl, and also a necromancer and homicidal maniac. But she tries to be good, y'know? In spite of everything. Because she woke up one day with a brain full of tadpole and a heart full of love.

Below the cut is a description of everything in her keepsake box.

Cazador Szarr's corpse. So she can fondly remember that her boyfriend is safe now and his abuser is dead. And if he is having bad memories, she can remind him of that too by pulling the corpse out.

A bag of hands, lifted off a pretender to her father's cult.

A summoning bell lifted off of rival necromancer Balthazar. Chump.

An assortment of surgical tools collected from the House of Healing, in case she wants to use them for murders: an Artificial Leech, a Bonesaw, a Syringe, and a Trepan.

In the middle of those tools is a Murderous Cut dagger carried by a Bhaalist cultist. Kept for remembering where she came from.

Her bloodkin Orin's Carapace Armor, to fondly remember her defeat. She'd have kept her bones themselves if she could.

The "Magic" Ring she got from Mattis, because she's fond of that kid.

An amethyst ring and an onyx ring. Two of her favorite crystals. She loves pretty things, like a magpie.

Orin's Ring of Murderous Opportunity. Another lovely keepsake from her death.

The results are in, and the consensus is massive. Castiel's worse crime was...ignoring Claire's prayers! No other crime even came close, though the closest second was bodysnatching Jimmy, which is arguably all part of the same crime tbh.

Several of you had a lot of say in the tags as well, which were hilarious. Major recurring themes include:

Reminding me that Cas has never done anything wrong actually and that these so-called crimes are just "doing his best" and/or "hot girl shit" or even "correct actually" (so true bestie)

Being horrified at realizing how long Cas was just ignoring Claire (truly, we do not talk about this enough)

Being flabbergasted that I didn't include breaking Sam's wall on the list (honestly I forgot about it? which I think is fair given how little focus it's given in the show after season 7...like Sam looks at the scar on his hand one time in season 8 and then they just...never even allude to it again?)

Being VERY upset that killing Balthazar is on this list (listen, he was very stressed out okay?)

All in all, I think we (except for the like, 2 of you who actually are mad at Cas for one reason or another, can't relate) can all agree that Cas is the poorest, soppingest little meow meow of them all who never did anything wrong including the war crimes. But he really should have called his daughter-by-bodysnatching back.

Thinking about how in a Durge playthrough everybody except Gortash knew what happened to Durge.

Orin lobotomized them, tadpoled them, and gave them to Balthazar, who put them in the colony at the disposal of one of his assistants. They knew Durge was alive, but Gortash had no idea. And at the very least Balthazar (so likely Ketheric too) knew that Durge was being experimented on by Kressa and was later sent to the nautiloid to become a murder weapon for the Absolute. Gortash has no clue any of this has happened to his bestie until that cutscene at the start of act 3 where Orin tells him that Durge is with the group that killed Ketheric and he learns they're alive, though not what they went through between Orin's attack and the nautiloid. It makes me wonder what he would've done had he known where they had been keeping his friend.

Both Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy's Law rely on having an A plot and a B plot during their episodes with the boys' invention and Candace being the A plot of Pnf, Doof and Perry are the B plot. In Milo Murphy's Law, Milo evading murphy's law is the A plot while Cav and Dakota are the B plot. The difference therein lies with the fact that PnF's plots barely converge if not for a special occasion while MML's converges and stays connected throughout the show. This works for both shows because of their story structures. Phineas and Ferb is an episodic show that requires a tight-knit story compacted into each episode while Murphy's Law, episodic as it may be, has an overarching seasonal plot that requires continuity. Phineas and Ferb do not need to know Doof in order to move their plot forward and vice versa but Cavendish and Dakota require to know Milo in order to advance their own plot.  Also this works well because they're made by and are in the same universe as each other so predictability can be used at the expense of one show to highlight a different show's eccentricities and how it's different but still inherently in the same universe as the other show.

Once, after his own brief time in the body of Claire Novak, Castiel asked Balthazar who his vessel was. Whether the man had a family. "Only in pine boxes," Balthazar had answered, laughing, and told the story of how this fisherman prayed for salvation from a storm in 1821 and had been one with his celestial passenger ever since. "My friend," Castiel murmurs, crouching to touch the still-warm wound through Balthazar's heart.

The Commander is recovering (read: running away) from a traumatized past (read: best friend and superior Marshal Trahearne up and DYING BY MY HAND) and!!! if you notice!!

througout S3 ALL THEIR FRIENDS are falling away. (except Taimi, bless her heart.) half of DE? dead, injured, or mysteriously vanished. even Rytlock trudges off to the Black Citadel halfway through. Canach? yeets off to explore his freedom. Braham? let's not talk about him. that was BadTM for the Commander. the one person who might've understood the "just lost a loved one" and he's taking it WHOLLY differently from the Commander. Kas? up and leaves when Balthy comes calling. Jory? Injured, out of commission. Rox? with Braham bcoz SOMEBODY needs to look after him.

So Commander just lost their bestie, not a one of their friends BOTHERED to check up and ask how they're doing (except Taimi, bless her heart, but let's not trauma-dump on the sixteen-year-old) before yeeting off to whatever their business is. Comm is NOT in a good way.

Oh! and apparently killing dragons is bad now!

Yeah, Commander is in a GREAT mental place. before PoF even starts they yeets themselves down a volcano with the line, "there's a god and an Elder Dragon down here, but feel free to join" Comm, what are YOU doing down there?? get the yeet out and grab a bestie or two! OH RIGHT, none of them care! (except Taimi, BLESS HER HEART)

Baby Aurene tries to be the emotional support puppy through all of this but that's just another responsibility the Commander has to deal with, what with training and etc, and it's just. So Awkward with Caithe there.

so then Commander up and DIES to Balthazar, goes through all their memories and comes out the other side teary-eyed and returning to their legacy and the line from a song who you are is not who you've been HITS

and the Commander STOPS being fatally independent and recruits Awakened resources and proves themselves and leads a whole army against the baddie, just like the good old days :))

GUILD WARS 2 IS A STORY ABOUT UNITY!!

The whole yeeting personal story is about bringing races together, bringing Orders together, bringing Destiny's Edge together to FIGHT THE DRAGONS. Mordremoth wreaks havoc on the Pact by DIVIDING them with the whole anti-sylvari stuff going on!

S3 is about how you really can't get things done by yourself. NOTHING the Commander tried to do in S3 actually got done. (except the stuff with Caudecus ig.) Jormag and Primordus? NOPE! Balthazar? nope! Comm had to go off and uproot a completely irrelevant dead mursaat to have any kind of finale to the season.

Stuff only got done in PoF once the Commander actually started working with people. S4 continues addressing the Trahearne issue (masterfully squeaking by only mentioning him once) but still, the story has us bringing factions, nations, etc. together into the "extended Pact" to bring down Kralkatorrik.

and then... well, I'm still trying to figure out/process IBS. but there was definitely a theme of unity there, too, between "United Legions" and the numerous, numerous, numerous allies we had for Dragonstorm.

Even in EoD we were bringing unlikely allies together.

The Commander's character flaw is deep independence? YOU BETCHA, the whole 10-year narrative arc is about the Commander's various struggles with the questions - independence? unity? loneliness? friendship? can I do it myself? trust vs protectiveness vs pride? when do I step back (IBS)? when do I step forward (PS)? how far do I step forward (S3 vs S4)?

I'm actually deeply interested to see what SotO is doing on that theme. I've heard complaints before about DW treated the Commander after they died, so is this similar or is it more pronounced? /rhetorical (I don't want spoilers lol)

Replaying POF. Something really deeply funny about how alone the Commander feels going into path of fire. Like if the Commander has a character flaw it's hyper independence.

So the commander is going into the desert to fight the god of war and you only ask for a ride. That's it. And if you would have asked some Shining blade more than likely could have been spared, you could have gone to the pact for aid.

And Then half your friends who aren't busy or bedridden or mad af at you, show up any fucking way. Rylock just like "what up hear you where tussling with the god of war, I want in" he has zero clue that it's the same dude he met in the mist he's not even there for atonement his just there for vibes.

Speaking of just vibes. Coming in with "I was bored heard you where here so like what's up? Where are we going?" Canach is like "I don't have an evil woman to boss me around.... Sup commander" once again no atonement, he already did that. He's just bored.

Then we have our bravest little toaster Kasmeer. This bitch is a believer. A

But one thing about Kasmeer Meade is that she's your friend and guild mate first and foremost, and a believer in the six second. Kasmeer believes in you more than she believes in the gods she was raised to believe in. I just wish they explored that more in story.

Kasmeer believes in you more than gods. She believes in her friends more than gods.

Canach would bet on you everytime.

Rylock believes in your leadership more than the most important thing which is his legion. Which he was tribune for.

Which is why it's night and day from what's going on with SOTO. All the sudden no one gives a fuck about where you are. And that's why it's jarring and over all doesn't feel right.
