Anatomy of the brain: A journey to the heart of our control center
Let's delve into the intricacies of our brain, the fascinating organ that governs all our thoughts, emotions and actions.
The human brain is a complex structure made up of billions of interconnected neurons. These neurons communicate with each other via specialized pathways, forming a complex network that enables us to perceive the world, think, learn and act.

Major brain regions
The brain can be divided into several major regions, each with specific functions:
- Cerebral cortex: This is the outer layer of the brain, made up of gray matter. It is responsible for higher functions such as thought, language, memory and perception.
- Limbic system: Involved in emotions, memory and learning.
- Brain stem: Connects the brain to the spinal cord and controls vital functions such as breathing and heart rate.
- Cerebellum: Involved in movement coordination, balance and posture maintenance.
Key structures for information transmission
Within these large regions, many structures play a crucial role in the transmission of information:
- White matter: Composed mainly of myelinated axons, it ensures communication between different brain regions.
- Basal ganglia: Involved in movement control, learning and emotions.
- Thalamus: Relays most sensory information to the cerebral cortex.
- Hypothalamus: Regulates many vital functions such as body temperature, appetite and sleep.
Communication pathways
Information circulates in the brain via specific nerve pathways. Among the most important are :
- The pyramidal pathway: Responsible for voluntary control of movement.
- Sensory pathways: transmit sensory information from the body to the brain.
- Associative pathways: Connect different regions of the cerebral cortex, enabling the integration of information and the performance of complex cognitive functions.
Neurotransmitters: the brain's chemical messengers
Communication between neurons takes place via molecules called neurotransmitters. These chemical substances transmit signals from one neuron to another, enabling the transmission of information.
In conclusion, the brain is a complex and fascinating organ, whose functioning relies on precise organization and efficient communication between its different structures. Understanding the mechanisms of information transmission in the brain is essential to our understanding of the basis of our behavior and cognitive abilities.

living weapon whumpee who's never known anything but pain and violence.
their existence hurts. they were made to be effective, not happy, and their masters decided that keeping them in constant pain provided better results. they're wilder, more unpredictable, and the pain keeps them from thinking straight enough to question anything.
they're only given painkillers, only allowed a respite from their seemingly endless suffering, after a successful mission. it keeps them loyal, and most importantly, teaches their brain to associate acts of violence with relief and rewards.
everyone they've ever met has treated them as a tool, a monster, or both. they don't know how to be anything else.
that is until they're rampaging through a village, destroying, killing, whatever their masters demand of them. whatever will give them a few blissful hours of numbness.
one of the villagers steps out of a ruined building and looks them straight in the eyes. whumpee expects fear, hatred, disgust, the things they see in the faces of every person who's ever crossed their path. but they see something completely different.
compassion.
whumpee is so stunned, they don't think to move or do anything at all as the villager steps closer, gently reaching out a hand to cup whumpee's face.
"oh, poor thing." they murmur, taking in the creature in front of them - part human, part animal, part machine. "they've done a number on you, huh?"
whumpee blinks at them. pain continues to course through their body, but the gentle hand on their cheek distracts them, even if just a little. all the indistinct noise in their foggy, addled mind finally goes quiet.
caretaker had stepped out in front of the being destroying their home with the intention to get through to it or die trying, and the expectation to absolutely die trying.
they did not at all expect the seemingly feral mishmash of metal, fur, and flesh to lean so heavily into their touch that they nearly collapsed into caretaker's arms.

I always feel a little out of place whenever I express my vehement disliking of biology as a branch of science to study. "Oh but it's so fun!" how do you people have fun with memorizing terminology. That stinks. I don't wanna count 517 individual formations of fungal bacteria and write a lab report on it. I don't wanna have to memorize like 49 different terms and all of their meanings. Where are the formulas? I miss my numbers

dude your dead plate content is absolutely stunning and I adore the allusions you do between Rody and strawberries! 😭 symbolism is one of my favorite things and (idk if you picked strawberries for this reason but-) because strawberries are meant to represent love and affection they fit Rody so perfectly! (I guess that explains Vince and lemons- oh well at least they complement each other:] ) anyway, I love your art and hope to see more!! 😌😌
your reason is better!! I initially just picked strawberries because 🍓 = red = Rody lol (and at the very beggining, he wasnt even going to have a strawberry with him! he was just going to be looking intensely into the middle distance lol) but even if I didnt do it with that specific symbolism in mind those were definitely the vibes I was going for and I'm glad they had the intentioned effect! Vincent projecting all of his unprocessable feelings for Rody into that little strawberry 💔

I think it's funny how I see a lot of people associating Looker as a "you are my dad! boogie woogie" type of character. Like he's beloved for serving a sort of paternal figure, like he's not the kind of guy that gets thirst traps made of on the frequent and how sexy he is compared to Volo or Steven. The man is adopted platonically amongst people.
I have drawn Looker in such ways from day 1 that it was never platonic to begin with
