you know how will haters constantly try to invalidate his suffering by claiming that el's got it worse (hence deserves mike because apparently he's just a nice little prize -_- ), and how we keep telling them that suffering is not a competition and what matters is the impact it's all had on the characters ?

(and boy, have all the characters suffered a lot and show a wide variety of responses to their respective trauma)

,,,yeah, maybe let's not do that to mike. compare his suffering to that of other characters with the purpose of invalidating it, that is.

please go ahead and call out people that make up stuff about mike to make him angstier, like claim he's grown up in a directly abusive household or exaggerations / lies like that. and please, do make general requests for fics that explore the canon characteristics of certain characters and their journeys (do not bother specific authors, though >:\ )

but do not completely brush off dysfunctional dynamics and character struggles just because other characters have it worse :\

forget about the very fictional mike wheeler and his fictional feelings (which analysts and writers explore because this is a fandom and that's part of what we do, i suppose). there are real people who can relate to the emotional neglect we've seen mike go through on screen, which has been emphasised by the showrunners aplenty as something that we're meant to take note of, and invalidating this struggle only hurts those who see that part of themselves on mike :(

(which is why we don't make struggles and pain into a competition,,, which is what we've been telling will haters for a year,,, which is what some of you are making under a post that was making a completely different point x.x )

Dead Poets Society: Some Thoughts and Analysis

Essentially a stream of consciousness I had while rewatching the movie today. In chronological order as I was making notes!

✒️ Charlie talks so much with his eyebrows

✒️ Todd is tasked with taking minutes of the meetings, but I don't believe we ever see him actually do so (although it would have been nice if he did)

✒️ Cameron looks so much like a fisherman when he's smoking his pipe

✒️ Cameron's distaste for Charlie (and often for the rest of the boys) is evident super early on (e.g. when they walk out of Mr Keating's first class and Cameron says "do you think he'll test us on that stuff?" And, when he gets shut down, he throws a very angry look at Charlie and the poets. This happens several times, but as far as I remember we never see Cameron retaliate.) From this, while I don't like it, I understand why Cameron did what he did at the end of the movie because I think he felt undermined by the others and he was considered 'useful' and 'smart' for the school

✒️ Also, I do not accept that Cameron's name is Richard Cameron, he's pulling a Zendaya and goes by one name only

✒️ Mr Keating looks so disappointed in Charlie when saying "Thank you, Mr Dalton, you just illustrated the point"

✒️ I think Knox kissing Chris at the party, while somewhat gross, is necessary to show that Carpe Diem isn't always the right thing to do, as is Charlie putting the article in the paper  - i think maybe Chris not ending up with Knox would have hammered this home, especially because she seems perfectly happy with Chet. Of course, Chet's response to what happened at the party isn't fair, but it is definitely what I can see a teenage boy on the high school football team in the 50's doing. Don't choke on the bone, Knoxious!

✒️ Is Charlie trying to get thrown out of school? With the article in the paper stunt, he must have known how serious the repercussions would be, so maybe already he was considering getting out of school because he felt it wasn't the right path for him

✒️ "You made a liar out of me, Neil" - Mr Perry, I hate you

✒️ Did all of the poets, minus Neil and Knox, really squeeze into Keating's car?!

✒️ Neils little face when he comes out of the curtain, and how quick it falls when he sees his father - he's like a little kid showing a finger painting to a parent who insults it, he just wants his Dad to be proud of him

✒️ Mr Keating's face when Neil drives away after the play - I think he had an idea what was coming

✒️ That zoom in on Neil's face when his father's saying "more of this acting business, you can forget that"- he knew, then, that his dad would never change and what he was going to do

✒️ I want the doorknobs in the Perry house, specifically Neil's

✒️ The first time I watched this movie, I was so on edge when Neil was standing in front of the open window, thinking he was going to jump, and when he didn't I was like 'phew', and then the thing happened and my blood sugar spiked way up

✒️ Mr Perry saying 'my poor son' - i don't know, it rubs me up the wrong way, he has a name, he is not simply an extension of you

✒️ Cameron isn't there when the poets tell Todd what happened to Neil

✒️ The lingering image of Charlie with a tear down his face is so beautiful

✒️ Knox just clinging to Todd in the snow

✒️ The comparison between the deleted scene of Neil and Todd running lines by the lake when it's sunny and Todd running towards the lake screaming Neil's name 💔

✒️ Similarly, the comparison between Todd not wanting to speak at all in the meetings, and then the deleted scene where he reads a poem after Mr Perry takes Neil away

✒️ Charlie not singing during Neil's assembly

✒️ Ave means farewell in literature, and Charlie closing his eyes when it's sang is beautiful

✒️ Charlie carries on smoking when Cameron's coming into the attic meeting - he either knows it's Cameron or doesn't care who tf catches him doing anything bad anymore

✒️ I don't think Cameron ever actually 'believed' in Mr Keating, definitely not to the extent the others did - he never called him captain, for example, except when he realised everyone else in the common room was, and air quotes the word 'captain' in the attic. So, it raises the question why he went along with everyone even so?

✒️ While I do somewhat sympathise with Cameron, that is one of the most satisfying punches in movie history

✒️ I think Todd's parents weren't that different from Neil's, Todd's dad is clearly very authoritarian from the minute or so he's on screen (and the fact that Todd signs the paper) and his Mom says nothing in his defense, but the way Todd mouths 'Mom' breaks my heart

✒️ In what universe does acting = what Neil did? All those theatre kids and their evil, satanic rituals, forcing our kids away from school 🙄 I hate you, Mr Perry and Mr Nolan

✒️ Todd's the last one to stand up when Nolan walks into Keating's classroom

✒️ Mr Nolan complimenting Mr Pritchard's introduction is so ridiculously funny to me considering what Keating made them do to it

✒️ Mr Keating's smile to Todd through the door in the classroom has the same energy as "All my love to you poppet. You're going to be alright."

In conclusion, I adore this film.

I'm really struggling here. There are so many things I want and need to be. SO many things I should study, so many career paths I need to take, so many things in life that I need to get to. By studying it all, I'm getting nothing done. How do I get myself together? I need to be able to prioritize what I'd like to study and where I want to be in life, so I'm writing this post to puke it all out and hopefully fix it with a little glitter. I'm making a list and categorizing them with Emojis for what I should put a longer-term pause on, what I should put up next, and what I should study now. Stuff I should study now: ✒️ Python for data analysis and machine learning ✒️ Using statistical models on python ✒️ JavaScript/React for web development ✒️ Azure AZ-900 exam prep Stuff I should get to soon but not now: 📜 Data structures & algorithms 📜 A new language Stuff that would be better to pause for now: 🤎GMAT, for my future MBA 🤎Blender, to create 3D images and interactive tools With things like my GMAT exam prep I can practice 30 minutes a day or 10 pages a day instead of actively making it a major focus of my day and missing out on the things that I really wanted to study right now. Thus, it may be better to turn my 150 days of GMAT prep into just 150 days of productivity ☕ I hope you'll understand and that hopefully, you guys are also coming to a position where you can truly focus on what you want to focus on in life

Hello Everyone

How are you all? Good I hope! :)

You may have noticed I've been posting less. This is because of a few different things came up that have been getting in the way. However, just to be clear, I'm not leaving. Never in a million years. Things might have to change a bit though. So, let me answer the question

What Happened?

The first thing that happened was the release of Dragons Rising Season 2. I wasn't expecting so much discourse to spawn from it. And as a person who uses this space as a way to escape negativity in the real world, that was upsetting for me. And I didn't want to be involved in any of it. So I decided to take a break for awhile. That started a chain reaction of me not being as timely with my release of leaks, news, fun facts and general posting. In addition, I also ended up shortly afterwards getting a huge case of burnout.

Thankfully, both the discourse and the burnout has died down a bit. (Although admittedly, I'm still scared to go anywhere near the Ninjago tag.😅) But to my surprise, something else came up. One of my other side blogs started taking off. I wasn't expecting it too. I had planned to keep it small since I was already working on many things here. But one thing lead to another, and now I'm frantically juggling two blogs that both need attention.

Hopefully I can get this all sorted out. I have a few idea that should work. Now, finally I can answer

What Happens Next?

Well, first and foremost, my projects. I should be very clear, none of the them are being shelved! Production will continue as usual, albeit a bit slower. In fact, the first episode of Ninjago: Rough Riders is almost ready for release! It just needs some finishing up and proof reading. And Ninjago: Into The Deep is coming too. However updates for these projects will no longer have a set release date and content will be released for them whenever I feel it is finished. This is merely for the sake of my own mental health and a way to keep myself from being burnout too quickly.

Other smaller projects such as the ROTTMNT x Ninjago AU, the NeverRealm Analysis Video, and various articles I had planned will have to be put on the back burner. Still coming. But later. News, trivia, and leaks may also come a bit slower. But I'll try my best to stay on top of that at least.

They’d be good for each other.

Isadora/Klaus: Nah, they’re Friends. +it’s a great friendship too, I’d say their friendship is worth more than their romance would be.

Duncan/Carmelita: No. She bullied him the ENTIRE time. They have 0 chemistry. They have very little in common, i.e, nothing to bond over. Unless you imagine them getting nostalgic over how Carmelita bullied him for being an orphan which just…no…that’s about the furthest from romance there is.

Quigley/Carmelita: I’d hope Quigley would have better taste. Although, it would be hilarious if after reuniting with his siblings then they’re about to tell him all about their awful time at Prufrock when Quigley is like “Wait! First let me introduce you to my girlfriend!” Then the gf is Carmelita 😬😬😬

Duncan+Sunny who he was willing to protect via kicking a fake version of her round in a circle. His heart was there even if his brain wasn’t.

I HAVE A QUESTION

So I was playing pressure again and realized "How does Sebastian move??"

So I did some digging

I thought that he would move like a naga (half human half snake) because even though he's a feesh, he can move on land pretty well

Keep in mind, in roblox, he's 10'6", and if he was scaled up to real life, he'd be 62'4", so he'd have no problem having the fish part of himself be long enough to propel himself forward

I learned how some snakes move with their heads raised, and found a website that explained how nagas moved

anyway, i was browsing twitter, randomly saw this, and it made me think of a certain someone.

and i agree with this person because it's such a great trope ! it allows for a lot of depth and character complexity and that's always fun !!

but uh,,, whenever this happens people immediately start calling the character "an asshole", "insensitive", "rude" and much worse things,,, they become the least liked characters, often ranking below actual villains and horrible people,,, heck, even those who supposedly like the character will turn on them if they're even just rude to a character they like more.

the people who appreciate the character are made fun of,,, any analysis of the character becomes an unsubstantiated theory or an excuse for their behaviour,,,

you know how it is. and this applies to so many characters (in stranger things and other media), but every time i venture out on twitter or even here, on the tag, i see bylers themselves being mean about this 14 y/o kid who's canonically been through a lot and who's only reacting to his circumstances and it makes me sad :(

anyway, i guess the bottom line is that complex characters are always fun and it is their flaws what makes them more relatable and interesting, and that being rude to people who dedicate their time to talking about mike (or similarly complicated characters) is just mean.

I was just reading about Flaris for Into the Deep and it said something about Kai having to face his deepest fears and since this AU is based to fit within the canon...does that mean Kai is going to have to face some with Water and possibly Nya? (If I remember correctly I know a fear of his was losing Nya or something unless that wasn't Canon but I think it was?)

So my question is... Would Kai have to face something to do with Water and Nya at the same time at some point in the series? (1. Cuz that'd be sick af and 2. I've only read Flaris' so far and this question popped up in my head and I had to ask-)

Oh man! That a good question! Okay, let me see if I can explain all of this coherently. Lol.

So, it all started after a read a fan's character analysis on Kai and the changes he went through from the pilots till now. They spoke of how people were complaining that Kai didn't act like he used to in the pilots. One example that was brought up was fire chapter. After Kai lost his powers, he didn't want to keep fighting until a little boy convinced him. Some people said that pilot Kai would have kept fighting without his powers, no convincing needed. I believe some other examples were brought up. But that was the most notable one.

The person writing the analysis went on to explain that Kai wasn't acting out of character. He was changed because of his experiences. Like many of the other Ninjas, Kai has been severely traumatized by everything they've been through. And as a result, he's lost a bit of that fire he used to have.

This fanseason though, plans to address that.

It aims to look deep within Kai's character and help him regain that inner fire! Now, this isn't saying Kai isn't brave. He most certainly is. Especially seeing everything him and his family has been through. And he certainly still has some of that confident swagger. Lol. 🤣 But this season will help him finally overcome that trauma and get his old spark back!

(BUUUUUUT, even with all this said, him having to face something involving Nya and water sounds exceptionally cool, and I will consider it.👀)
