What were Narinder and the Lamb’s reactions to finding out they’re having kids?
Tumblr media
It was definitely… unexpected
The lamb had been under the weather for some time, so begrudgingly visited Kallamar at the medical tent by Narinder’s demand.
At first it was a joke by Kallamar that the Lamb do a pregnancy test after they came back clean as a whistle, but this did spark the idea in the Lamb’s head of “what if?”
So two or so days later, they got their answer
Don’t worry Kallamar was fine

How long was it between when Iroh convinced Zuko to take up the Fire Throne, and Sozin's comet? A day? Less??
AU where Iroh convinces Zuko to be the next Fire Lord MUCH earlier in the series. Zuko, who hasn't been in formal education since was 13yo, understandably panics. He barely remembers his lessons on How To Be the Fire Lord, and they were all focused on how to rule during wartime. Not peace. What does an international peace treaty even LOOK like and how does one go about making it???? How does trade work when you're NOT trying to eradicate every other nation????
Book 3 Zuko spends all of his time teaching Aang firebending, interrogating the other members about their culture's traditions and politics, going on Blue Spirit journeys to raid any passing libraries, and reading everything he can get his hands on. He barely eats. He doesn't sleep. He's info dumping about the DRIEST political texts. The gaang are THIS close to holding an intervention or having Toph sit on him until he sleeps.

thinking about this post on how Ed’s impossible bird alludes to the albatross and now all I can think about is how these past 3 episodes feel like a play on the Rime of the Ancient Mariner…he’s crashing weddings to make sure everyone knows that he’s the mariner who shot the albatross, who cursed his luck and life; but what’s interesting is he also seems to be his own albatross. it’s his own weight hanging around his neck. and the act curses his crew—he kills the part of himself that guides sailors safely—and they are now forced to turn on him, their souls sucked away by his curse. and he’s ready to reconcile the guilt of it all via his own death, he wants to do so, but he just cannot seem to die:
“Alone, alone, all, all alone, / Alone on a wide wide sea! / And never a saint took pity on / My soul in agony.
The many men, so beautiful! / And they all dead did lie: / And a thousand thousand slimy things / Lived on; and so did I.”
but then finally, in the darkest night of the greatest carnage, he’s suddenly reminded that he’s not alone like he thought—there’s life in the sea, and it’s beautiful and fiery-warm. and it’s the moment he feels love again that the albatross finally frees itself from his neck and falls into the water. it’s the feeling of love that breaks the curse.
…is this something? can’t tell if this is a thing or if i’m charlie day meme-ing myself this show has broken me

I found out the order in which the Big Three of Greek Mythology were birthed and now the dynamic makes so much more sense-
Hades- he’s the oldest, and therefore the most responsible. While he isn’t the God King, he is still the most no-nonsense of the three.
Poseidon- being the middle child, Poseidon is left to really just do his own thing on Earth. This meaning that while he doesn’t get away with everything, he still gets away with a lot.
Zeus- the youngest of the brothers. He is literally placed as a higher priority than his brothers and is seen as the golden of the three.

Are there any nice Tokyo Ghoul metas dissecting nuances/differences between the official and fan translations?
This is something I’ve seen a lot of scattered posts nitpicking - well, with the official translation as fans often do - from awkward phrasings, to inconsistencies (including with terminology, I have Viz volumes). But surprisingly, as much as I’ve seen people complain about Viz, I haven’t found anyone go into a detailed comparison between official and fan translations. You’d think that’d be right up the alley of fans (especially) in the height of writing novels about tarot cards and flower symbolism :p
The only meta I could find on translation differences is this one that covers a single classic quote. (Albeit not including the raw)
But! To my surprise! Someone wrote a thesis comparing the accuracy of the translations. Based on the examples quoted, it looks like this is limited to volume 1. TLDR: Argues that Viz contains less errors overall and opts for natural flow over preserving the sentence structure.
I'm sure I've missed things that would be a good addition to this.
