On this bright and sunny Summer day, Amtrak F59PHI No. 456 leads the southbound Pacific Surfliner to San Diego, California as the train travels along the Pacific Coast. In 2019, No. 456 and the other F59PHIs were sold to Metra after being replaced by the Siemens SC-44 Chargers.

Just north of Helper, Utah, Amtrak No. 6, the eastbound California Zephyr, passes through Price Canyon highballing along the D&RGW mainline. The train is about to pass by the dismantled ghost town of Castle Gate and the coal mine where three explosions took place claiming the lives of 172 miners on March 8th, 1924.

Antioch: No Injuries Reported After Train Strikes Truck

At 9:00 pm Monday, the Antioch Police Department responded to a report of a train versus truck at Viera Avenue at Wilbur in the City of Antioch.

Upon arrival, police stated the truck was unoccupied after being struck by an Amtrak train and all additional resources were cancelled. According to a witness,  they say they saw suspect was seen running down the tracks. Police were on scene…

While waiting to catch a Southbound FrontRunner train at Salt Lake Central, Amtrak train No. 5 the California Zephyr powered by P42DCs 146, 48, and 43 sits patiently at the island platform before resuming its westbound journey towards Emeryville, California. The westbound California Zephyr usually arrives at 11:05 PM according to the schedule, but as it is in broad daylight, this means that it is running late for whatever reason. I have actually rode that train back in July 2019 as a present from my dad for my 16th birthday. It is the only Amtrak train I have ridden on so far, and I hope to ride other Amtrak trains in the future such as the Empire Builder, Coast Starlight, Southwest Chief, and so on. At the time of riding the train, it was lead by two locomotives whereas the train is being headed by three locomotives today, I forgot the running numbers of the two locomotives that pulled the train at the time of riding it, but oh well. Meanwhile on the track closest to me, UTAX MP36PH-3C 7 arrives with a Northbound FrontRunner commuter train where it will drop off/pick up passengers as usual before heading northward to Ogden making several more stops along the way.
