While pulling the Eastbound California Zephyr through Donner Pass, Amtrak F40PHs 249, 305, and 243, assisted by Southern Pacific SD40T-2 8314, urge onwards as they confront the storm. The harsh winter weather serves as a reminder of when the snowbound City of San Francisco train got stuck for several days during one of the worst blizzards of the 20th century.

With the new structure, customers traveling from Philadelphia to New York can buy tickets starting at $19 if they choose the low-cost Value option or $21 if they want more flexibility. Previously a flexible ticket for the same trip would cost at least $128.A ticket to Boston from Philadelphia in coach could cost customers as low as $35 with thenew flexible option, whereas it used to cost $223.

What I am doing today

I have a final exam for General physics 2 on Monday.

I will go skim through the chapters in the textbook and mindmap the concepts I don't fully understand.

I will be studying on the Amtrak train from Austin to home. TY to @amtrak-official for reminding me about how much I love the amtrak train.

I'm sorry but I'm dying at this being framed like it's horrible:

More trains are good! Less emissions, less traffic, more mobility for everyone (disabled folks benefit highly from accessible public transport, for one group of many)...

Anyway, here's the actual feasibility study from Amtrak, the MTA, and New Jersey Transit on increasing capacity at New York Penn Station. I can think of something else that should be done but it's over 60 years too late to do it,* so this is the next best thing.

*I will never be over what happened to the original Penn Station. It's a huge chip on my shoulder and the fastest way to get me violently angry.

Pressing onward through the Bitterroot mountains, Amtrak train No. 17 the Westbound North Coast Hiawatha powered by SDP40Fs No. 500 and No. 511 passes through the serene and picturesque pine forests, passengers aboard the train are treated to the sights of the forest. 

Models and Route by: American Trainz Group, The Terminal Trainz, K&L Trainz, Track 29, Jointed Rail, Auran, and Download Station

Note: While this may not be that accurate to the real North Coast Hiawatha as seen in this video on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb0UjkQZ87Q, but considering that this is set within Amtrak's rainbow era, I don't think it's all that of a big deal IMO. Also, the train in reality didn't run along this line even though it did run through Idaho, but the Avery-Drexel route was close enough.

These were done on a recent, short trip up and down the coast. I love staring out the window as the scenery goes by! Amtrak is so much fun. During the smoother parts of the trip I was able to sketch stuff.
