Did you hold me as I died?

I know there a thousand other questions I should be asking. A thousand screams clawing at the back of my throat to be set free. A thousand thoughts that come bursting from my mouth like a swarm of wasps, lest they stay in my head forever, buzzing around and around and around until I can hear nothing else.

I should make it a point to throw these fiery things at you. For myself. For the release. But also to watch how quickly you are buried from the pressure I carry.

I only have one question for you, though. And I don't even dare to say it aloud: did you hold me as I died?

Did anyone?

My friends certainly couldn't. I sent one of them away for her own safety, and the other wouldn't look me in the eye before I left. My family was a world away, not that they surely would've held me either. I didn't know anyone else, like know know, in that castle except for you.

I know it was your hands that killed me, so it's silly to ask, but my memories are so fuzzy I can't help it. Did you hold me as I died?

I search your eyes for the answer, but all that's there is shame. You turn away from me, and I know. Funny how I used to be so scared of meeting everyone's eyes before all this, and now no one is meeting mine. And I am begging them to. I am begging you to. I am begging for answers, for closure before I leave you behind.

Did you hold me as I died?

The first time we met, I climbed my way into your pockets, and you pulled me out with just a pinch of your thumb and forefinger. You set me in the palm of your hand, and I didn't even fill it. That's how easy it was for you to hold me then. Why was it so hard to do the same when I was made even smaller? When I was crumpled up and broken and torn apart? When the heat left my body, turning me cold like your hands already are? Would it have been so hard to hold me then?

I can't remember my last moments. My last breath. It took me a while to remember dying at all. But, all the stories I've read have made death such a beautiful thing. You're supposed to be surrounded by loved ones. You're supposed to be held and cried over and buried deep beneath the ground to become the trees and flowers above you one day. I was supposed to be surrounded. I was supposed to be held.

You didn't hold me.

And you didn't bury me.

And you didn't love me.

If you say you did, that makes it so much worse. Because it means that you didn't love me enough.

Writing and translation commissions in exchange for donations to Palestinian fundraisers

Hello! I don't even know if anyone will see this post, but I've been thinking of doing this for a while. In exchange for donations to a Palestinian family you can get:

A fanfiction or other kind of story from me. I'm putting a list of fandoms I know enough of to write at the end of the post. Here is a post with some writing samples. I can write both in English and Italian. For 5 dollars/euros/60 SEK etc. you get a drabble. The larger the donation, the longer the text. I do not write smut.

A translation of anything you might need. My first language is Italian, I speak English fluently and I have a B1 in French.

I intend to extend this to all fundraisers, but because of the urgent situation, now I want to focus on @mohammedhaboubsblog 's fundraiser. His family is at risk of being kicked out if they don't pay rent in 7 days. His sister has been severely injured and cannot move. Vetted here.

So I just decided to post this little Marcy drabble, before I continue working on some of my longer requests<3

Romantic movies~

I were sitting on my couch with my girlfriend, Marcy. We had been planning a sleepover for such a long time now, and the day had finally come!

“Hey Mar-mar?” I turned to look at her.

“Yeah, N/n?” She responded, looking up at me.

“Could you head over to the kitchen and fetch us some popcorn, while I pick out a movie?” I asked her as I slightly tilted my head to the right.

“Yeah of course! You know what type of movies I like~” Marcy giggling as she pecked my cheek, before standing up and making her way to the kitchen.

I giggled slightly to myself as I watched her walk away. God, she was just so cute sometimes, I sighed lovingly, before remembering that I actually had to find something for us to watch.

After a little bit of a scavenger hunt, I finally found the remote behind a couple of pillows at the very edge of the sofa. I clicked the on button as the TV lights sprung to life, before I started searching for a movie. Maybe ‘Lord of the Rings’? No, we watched that last time. How about ‘The Shining’? No, Marcy is kind of a scaredy-cat, haha. I continued to search a bit more, my eyes skimming through the different covers, as I heard Marcy roaming around in the kitchen, until one particular movie finally caught my attention. ‘From up on poppy hill’, a studio Ghibli movie, and… a romantic movie. I blushed slightly at the thought as I smiled. This is perfect! Marcy loves Ghibli movies and this is a chance for us to have a romantic couple moment! I said to myself with a determinant look on my face. We. Will. Cuddle.

“Hey Y/n!” Marcy suddenly said as she returned with a big bowl of popcorn.

“Marcy!” I said, startled, as I hadn’t herd her coming. “I um.. I picked out a movie!” I said with a nervous smile as Marcy turned to face the TV.

“A love movie?” She looked at me with a small blush covering her features.

“Y-yeah, we can pick out something different if you don’t wanna watch it, I just thought that-“

“Hey hey, it’s ok!” The back haired girl giggled a bit as she calmed me down with a sweet smile.

“I absolutely love that movie and I would love to watch it with you” she said as she looked away from my eyes, slightly smiling.

I sat there in silence as I looked at her, before I captured her in a big bear hug.

“Awwwh sweetie! You really wanna watch a love film with me? Your too cute~” I smirked as I laughed.

Marcy burrowed her face into my chest with a whine, clearly embarrassed, as I laughed even more.

In the end, me and my girlfriend ended up hugging each other close under one of my moms big and fluffy blankets on the couch. Marcy even rested her head on my shoulder as she gave me random fun-facts about the movie from time to time. Tonight couldn’t have been more perfect.

I felt like this little scenario actually turned out really cute! Sorry it’s so short though, but I really need more sleep 🥲

Everett watched from her girlfriend's roof as bulldozers and dump trucks carted away what was left of the forest in the distance. Anne took his hand and interlaced their fingers. They knew there would never be a sight like the one they had lost. Where light peaks through the trees, and the beautiful ombre of blues and oranges are only noticeable if you really looked.

Their sunset is forever changed, no longer a subtle melancholy with its undeniable beauty begging to be seen. Now, its vulnerability laid out before them, naked to the eye of its beholder.

Behind them, in Anne's room, Marshal curled into the cold drywall, naive to the horizon's beauty. He knew the moments they shared on the roof mean something so much more to the two of them than it did to him. He preferred a blanket of grass anyway. Miles away from the light pollution of city living, long after the sun set, when he could truly enjoy the night sky.

The two on the roof called to him but he couldn't hear, too busy using their phone as a means to pass the time. They were surprised and confused when the arms of Anne, their girlfriend, picked them up and away from the mattress, headed straight for the window. He didn't understand why Everett enjoyed the setting sun so much, or why, after watching it, she struggles to fall asleep like normal. Marshall glanced back at Anne standing next to him and he understood one thing. Anne's view at dusk was never the sky. She stared directly at her awestruck partner, captivated by the fading light as it reveled in the shadows of his expression.

Sasha’s eye socket is throbbing. 

This is nothing new; she’s been waking up from feverish nightmares for the past week now, gasping and choking and scrambling to catch her fingers on anything to stop her from falling, but the pain and the terror and that look on Anne’s face, staring down at her, it’s all too much it’s too much and the next thing she knows despite trying to fight it despite trying to be strong Sasha is falling and not just from the crumbling tower she’d almost called home but from consciousness and existence itself and the dark rises to claim her and her last thought before the black swallows up everything is not I’m going to die, but I’m going to die, and I deserve it.

—And then she jolts awake. 

“Gnngmhph, f- fuck— ” the blonde curses, putting a hand to the side of her head. She’s shaking; burning up. How can someone be simultaneously covered in goosebumps and drenched in sweat? 

“It’s probably infected,” Grime had grumbled after her eye first started getting bad. He’d said it in his usual grumbly way, but the toad had sounded more… defeated. “We’d have medicines to treat it if we were back at the Tower, but…” He trailed off. 

“I’ll be fine,” Sasha hissed back, putting a hand to her eye only to immediately pull away with a wince. “I’ve handled worse.” Probably. The Commander looked like she’d been through Hell and back when the two first arrived at the Tower, not that her future self would tell her jack shit about what exactly happened—or would happen, or whatever—to her. 

But it’s not the physical pain that’s the worst part, really. Don’t get her wrong, Amphibian diseases are fucking nasty, but the nightmares and the confusing emotions and the helplessness warring with the pink-hot fury within her are a million times worse. 

There isn’t much she can do about that, though. Grime’s been helping her adjust to her loss of depth perception, at least, but every day he sinks further into himself, spending more and more time watching Suspicion Island and letting that despair consume him, too. Percy and Broddock have managed to keep their spirits up, but Sasha can see how they shuffle awkwardly around her, looking at the ground; they don’t miss Toad Tower itself, per se, but there was some sort of strength and sense of protection that came with it, one that even their not-terrible location in the Amphibian countryside doesn’t emulate in the slightest. 

So Sasha starts with the small things, the things she can control: like keeping her wound clean. Every morning when she first wakes up—it doesn’t matter how early—she makes her way to the stream, practicing hitting targets pinned or painted on the trees along the path there as she walks. She watches her sword—an echo of the one the Commander had, Don’t think about her, Sasha —arc through the air, hitting every one on the mark. Swish, thunk. Swish, thunk. Swish—

“ Shit, ” she snarls when it misses the tree with the stupid twisted trunk, the arc of the blade a good few inches too far away. She brings it back again, prepared to jab at the target—and on the second attempt, hits it perfectly in the center. Sasha braces against the tree to pull her sword back out, then gets back to walking. She’d almost been able to forget the throbbing in her eye for a minute. 

Just you wait, Anne and the Commander and that stupid little pink frog and whoever else ever thought it was a good idea to fuck with me, she fumes, slowly unwrapping the bandage from the side of her head, trying not to wince at the bright pink stinging that makes her fingers feel tingly or gag at the yellowish pus left behind on the gauze. It looks less like it might be less than last time she changed it, at least. 

If you think you’ve seen the last of me, you’ve got another thing coming.
