I'd also be remiss not to mention the ending tease for round 6!!! It's Ivan VS Till time
What's interesting is that Till is clearly staring at the Mizi VS Luka match, but the picture he punches is his own. Maybe he blames himself for not saving her, maybe he's angry at himself... Does he still want to win? Is he more determined than ever, or is he giving up? I need to know his mindset
And Ivan too, I mean, I'm sure he's all sorts of messed up about the fact that he's going to have to compete against the guy he's in love with... Again I wonder what his mindset is. Does he intend to lose anyway? Or maybe he's also plotting, given that one promo image of him Skeptically looking at Mizi's missing picture. Maybe he expects something to happen anyway, or maybe he's inspired to finally do something himself.
But the thing that made Ivan fall in love with Till was his rebelliousness, it reminded him of the freedom he saw in the falling stars, a light that broke through his hopelessness (his black sorrrowwww). If Till IS giving in to some sort of despair then would Ivan seek to reignite that flame at his own expense? Or if Till is fully determined, is Ivan happy to just watch that spark burn as he sings with him for the last time? Or maybe he doesn't intend to lose despite everything, but I can't see Ivan putting himself in front of Till at all... But I can see him finally being inspired to act on his own, for once, his own rebellion.
At the end of the day though I'm just talking about their mindsets going into it, thinking it'll be to the death. Because we know as the audience that Mizi and Hyuna are on their way to fuck shit up and hopefully free them (maybe the world that Ivan and Till saw on that one night under the meteors can finally open up to them, now that Mizi is out too)
And I also wonder if Mizi wanted to go specifically because those are her friends. The girl that she loved with all her heart, the one she called her universe and her God, is already dead. We saw her grief in MiziSua and we see her resolve now. Beyond getting any sort of revenge on Luka or Alien Stage itself, I think Mizi wants to keep the friends she has left alive.
#and they ARE friends and always have been! please see vivinos' posts on the community tab#they were sillies and they care each other#surprisingly little jealousy on Ivan's end too#Sua on the other hand often seems like she wants to dismember Till but she's just quirky lol#but yeah i dont see this as something where Hyuna forced Mizi to come along i think the choice was offered and Mizi took it#tho i also think the reason she was saved was also because Hyuna and co. saw the fire in her eyes when she beat the shit outta Luka#among other things. go Mizi go#alien stage

Would the human pets be capable of basic tasks like washing their clothes or preparing food? I can see some pets knowing how to prepare food as like, a fun little party trick to impress others, but as a basic survival skill I don't think it's commonly taught to humans anymore. There's most likely a line drawn between pets that are helpful and reliable, and pets that are too capable, to the point where certain owners may feel threatened by their level of intelligence and independence. I wonder just how helpless the humans would be without their aliens.
#alien stage#alnst#rambles#my take is this: hyuna is completely independent and knows every basic survival skill (a long process of learning if she was self-taught)#but afterwards she taught every single recruit how to take care of themselves.#i think hyuna would be the closest to a normal functioning adult in terms of skillset among the main cast#mizi would know how to prepare certain foods but only very simple ones#im not sure if till would know how to do anything properly but he's at least resourceful enough to keep himself going on his own#(since it seems like Guardian Urak leaves him to fend for himself most of the time)#Ivan would know how to do a lot of things in theory but has most likely never performed them himself#and i think sua and luka perform very decorative trophy-esque roles to their owners#so they wouldn't really know how to do anything other than what they're trained to excel at#of course theyre smart people so theyd pick it up eventually#but as of now they probably dont know how to cook or wash or properly clean aside from the basics of tidying after themselves#especially since sua is stated to constantly be in a daze with no plans#and luka as a kid seemed in his own world most of the time#THIS IS JUST ME THO LOL my opinions are bound to change eventually im jist#im just speculating and headcanoning for funsies

uhmm i haven't been seeing a lot of discussion about till aside from his relationships with other competitors and i think it's something that must be addressed because i think among the competitors he's the anomaly.
unlike his peers, Till is nothing special. Ivan is beautiful and talented and so is Mizi, and they're both treated as valuable things by their alien owners because of it. You can see this in the way Ivan's constantly surrounded by attention and food and Mizi's pampered lifestyle pre-alien stage.
but then you get to Till and he's literally just strapped to a medical table. Mizi and Ivan's "foster family" treat them with some degree of humanity, even if it's in the way that humans now treat their beloved house cats. If that's the case, Till's treated as a mildly interesting lab rat.
His owners go lengths to further dehumanize him, and you can see that from the way he's so often muzzled when no one else is. They also quite literally brand him !!
This type of dehumanization in my opinion is also something that contributes to Till's aggressive behavior, because he is constantly in the circumstances that force him to do so.
Till is neither too attractive or too talented at singing, and I'm pretty sure he knows this --- that's why he relied so heavily on the element of gruesome surprise during his first round.
It's also worth mentioning that his unhealthy attachment to the idea of Mizi as some kind of saving grace also reflects on his own perception of himself, as some sinner in need of saving. Whenever he imagines Mizi in the Round 6 video, he is someone tainted in the colors of his captors (red) and sweaty, whereas Mizi is bright and glowing.
He didn't expect to live past round 6, I think that's made pretty clear. His expression isn't one of someone who expects to live (especially when Mizi is now either dead or gone). His expression is of someone defeated.
Another thing about Till is that he felt alone. Ivan loves him, we knows this, but Till doesn't. The few instances we see through Ivan's eyes, his kindness towards Till is either from somewhere Till can't see or when he's unconscious. The only time we see them interact where Till is aware of what's going on is when they're fighting as kids, and their one escape attempt.
As far as I know, Till has nothing to go off of in recent times. The only time that he's touched is by alien captors and scientists, both who see him as less than human. It's easy to be beat down and dehumanized when there is no one around you to humanize you.
No other competitor, from what we've seen, is treated as awfully as Till is treated. His idealization of Mizi stems from delusion, and there is no indication to him now that his ex-best friend Ivan still gives a shit about him.
That changes after the 6th Round though, and Till is so well set up to be a character who gets his entire worldview shattered, with Ivan's final show of affection and Mizi's disconnect from the one he has in his head (symbolized by her cut hair).
Till, a hotheaded human who is nothing special but lived on until the final round through the idealization of one competitor and the sacrifice of another ... the silliest of all time
#this is all rambling but erm.... till my beloved#till alien stage#alien stage till#alien stage round 6#ivantill#mizitill#alien stage#luolies#alien stage ivan#alien stage mizi

A new pop-up store dropped for ALIEN STAGE's 2nd anniversary and wow. It's so sick.
It's Interesting what exactly these experiments are focusing on and monitoring.
Instrument practice
I found it interesting earlier that Till was so tame, more so than he usually is when he's going through experiments, but music, and making music is what he loves doing, So he was fully in his element here. This was probably the only thing he was made to do by the aliens that he at least tolerated.
(Additionally, judging by his collar (orange), he was at least calm. maybe he just isn't fazed anymore.)
//Side note, that head contraption looks familiar BUT this most likely isn't related at least i hope
(It puts me at ease, at least..)
Dance practice
This surprised me, but I suppose Mizi needed more skills.
She looks very startled here, and nervous(?) +It looks like she's doing this while singing. And with that face covering I assume this was a test monitoring her dance balance, precision, etc. At first, I did think it was odd, "Why would Shine put her through that" But alas I was reminded that even though Mizi is the flower of the group she was never untouchable, to Shine, this was the equivalent of teaching your dog to sit and stay.
(seeing this it reminded me of those scenes in movies where the people are dancing, and the music gets faster and faster until they fall. I wonder if she was doing through something similar to that)
Singing practice (?)
Similar to Till she also looks quite calm outwardly, if the machine around her neck is an iteration of the collars they have, then this process wasn't something she liked, or given how intense this experiment looks, this was a test of high-pressure to ensure she always stayed calm during performances (?). Then again this could also be a posture practice given all the structure focused on maintaining her position.
(What I believe was another form of this test was shown before so I think so)
(With her hands in a praying stance I wonder if she was praying to herself or singing a religious song (sweet dream?) It's also interesting that the machinery around her looks like a halo, and she looks so...angelic? holy?)
Image making practice
By image making, I think they made Ivan replicate expressions with his face. Whether this process was painful for him or not...I'm not sure. But it looked visibly uncomfortable, maybe that was the point. (His expression, even in this circumstance is so dubious..)
Ivan, among other things, needed to have a spotless appearance to be successful, his image was a priority given his skills were certainly guaranteed.
I assume the aliens eventually took note of his lack of expression, in the real world this can be a detriment to one's career, so the Aliens had to ensure quality was perfect. (To a more...dedicated level)
Superiority test
'Superiority test' Is very vague.
HyunA is very calm here too, likely sedated in that water with all the tablets on her. I guess this was a test to get an idea of a pet human's strengths and weaknesses, endurance, and temperament to compare and contrast them with others, testing who is more viable for Alien stage?
Another interesting, and sad part about this is that HyunWoo was there, watching his sister through her experiments.
(Also, it looks like both of her legs are normal, no alien leg yet.)
Heart rate variability
And finally, the most visceral of them all. The wording 'variability' makes this all the more sickening, the Aliens were testing his heart hours, testing it at different rates, speeds, and states. And he was in agony the entire time. Even the way he's clutching his chest, it gives me chills. This would've been a completely harmless test in a normal setting, as something quite similar to this can be performed efficiently in real life. But he's being tortured in the process.
This is one of the first times we've ever seen Luka's face so truly clear and unprotected, (understandably so.) He's even crying.
#alien stage#alnst#WHATFRV EHBFUCKKKKKKK#i am devastated#GET TILL OUT OF THERE FUCK#HE DESERVES TO DO WHAT HE LOVES WHEN HE WANTS NOT BECAUSE OF THYEGAUUUUUU#now usually i dont feel bad nor care for luka but seeing this...seeing what heperu did for myself..its more nasty in person#fuck urak fuck heperu fuck phan fuck whatever sua's guardian is#ALL BUT SHINE#GR#hyuna's experiments boggle my brain...what the hell is superiority even supposed to mean....#i dunno#but i guess hyunwoo passed (or is next) its so sad how that baby had to see his sister go through that#explodes#get those babies out of there#sua with religious symbolism is back once again dont be surprised if anakts real child is her#she proved it in sweet dream#alnst till#alnst ivan#alien stage till#alien stage ivan#alien stage sua#alien stage mizi#alnst sua#alnst mizi#alien stage hyuna#alien stage luka#alnst luka#alnst hyuna#alien stage hyunwoo

According to the information released about the segyein, Guardian Shine respects Mizi's choice in whether or not she wants to participate in Alien Stage. Looking at this tidbit again, new questions popped up for me. More specifically — one question.
Why didn't Sua convince Mizi not to participate?
Alright let's back up a bit.
What do we know about Alien Stage and its relationship with the Anakt Garden kids?
From the magazine interview and old stream commentary, we know they've been brainwashed from childhood to believe participation in Alien Stage is an honor. They're fully aware that losing means death, but that itself is taught to be yet another privilege.
Mizi vs Sua, Ivan, and Till
It's generally accepted that among our cast, Mizi is the most sheltered one — the one shielded the most from the horrific side of the post-alien apocalypse world, whereas due to the abuse from their respective guardians, Sua, Ivan, and Till do not have such a rosy outlook.
Sua and Ivan in particular appear to be jaded and much more in tune with their place in this system. So if they didn't buy into the propaganda, if they were fully aware of the implications of death and the worthlessness of receiving such an "honor" on stage, why didn't they convince Mizi to step out of it?
Ivan's reason is easy — simply, why would he?
But Sua? Why... wouldn't she? Surely she would want Mizi to avoid Alien Stage at all costs, when she is not as naive as to believe they'd be able to tie all the way to the finals?
Let's take another look at Sua's interview responses.
Sua and Mizi both share a dream, and in a world as small and enclosed as theirs, that dream is enough to be their everything.
Mizi may have had a chance to opt out of AS, but Sua doesn't. Her guardian, Nigeh, has always intended for her to participate, going as far as to build up her fanbase before Season 50 even started to tip the odds in favor of her victory. Sua has been prepared her whole life for Alien Stage, whether it ends in her victory, or her death.
She goes in knowing her life will likely end there.
Perhaps it was to indulge in the one selfishness of her short life — in the dream she and Mizi cherished above all.
Perhaps it was because she has absolute, unshakable confidence in Mizi taking the throne of Season 50 for herself.
Perhaps it was because a small part of her believed in Mizi's optimism — that they really can make it to the top together.
I think all of these possibilities are valid interpretations of what may have gone on inside Sua.
But here's a thought —
Sua, like Mizi, was unfamiliar with the true nature of death.
Sua's loss was Mizi's first, intimate encounter with death. Death was supposed to be a glorious thing, a blessed thing on Alien Stage.
It is not.
It's gruesome, and ugly, and she can still feel the hot blood splatter on her.
Anakt Garden is toted as a kindergarten that can provide your pet-humans with the perfect environment to thrive, looking after your pet-human's health not only physically, but psychologically!
Sua, like Mizi, has been raised in such a curated environment. Even under Nigeh's care, she was simply one of many dolled up pet-humans. Whether she was taking lessons in Anakt Garden, or left to sit in the corner in her ill-fitting doll outfit, we have not seen any opportunities for Sua to come in contact with "death." (Ivan, on the other hand, came from the slums. He may be the only one of the four who was intimately acquainted with death.)
Hence, I propose — Mizi was not the only one who went in without actually grasping the concept. Perhaps Sua too, while having an inkling of what's to come, did not truly understand what death entails either.
(But yeah possibility number 1263 why Sua didn't tell Mizi not to do the murder survival show)

flower symbolism in alien stage
So, we have two confirmed flowers mentioned in the series—Clematis from Round 1 and Edelweiss from Round 2—and the red flowers from the Anakt Garden. I have a few options for what those could be, so I’ll go over each option at the end.
Of course, Clematis is the most obvious flower reference. Here’s what they look like if you’re unfamiliar. It’s a beautiful flower, available in pink and purple varieties, colors which you can find in both of their color palettes.
They represent transformation and wisdom, the pursuit of knowledge, determination and spirituality. Very compatible with the themes of the series, and specifically of Mizi and Sua’s love for each other. They deify each other and transform each other, through meeting and knowing each other. Sua’s knowledge of their world and Mizi’s lack of it is what leads to her death and to Mizi’s subsequent transformation.
Clematis grow on vines, constantly racing up towards the sun. Sua’s sacrifice, I think, is what will allow Mizi to finally reach it.
It’s really lovely and terrible. A perfect fit for them.
Now Edelweiss! It’s a very tough plant, but also very short-lived, and nearly impossible to get your hands on, as they’re native to the lonely peaks of the Alps.
It’s representative of devotion, nobility, and purity, which is FASCINATING to me. There are many more romantic flowers out there, even ones with meanings specifically related to unrequited love, but Edelweiss specifically so perfectly encapsulates why I think Till likes Mizi.
He sees her as something pure, untouched by the nightmare of their lives. She’s kinder than the others. Naive, still believing in good things like homes and friends and love.
Even when he hallucinates her, he imagines her as a child, big-eyed and smiling—her purest form. He hates their capture. Hates living, fights and fights and fights. I think he clings to her as a symbol more than a girl by the point of the Alien Stage, devoting everything to this ideal of her, continuing to sing his confession at her even while she’s crumbled into a ball of grief. That version of her may not even really be the being he’s singing to.
He clearly has her on a pedestal in his mind. When he loses that idol, both watches his friend lose her innocence and then his symbol of purity go apeshit and beat the hell out of their competitor, he loses everything. By the time we see him in Round 6 he’s been completely broken down by the system, never fully developing the will to live for himself, only for his Edelweiss.
As for the red flowers…
They have five petals, with a black center. Honestly, given that one of Mizi’s likes is “artificial Anakt flowers,” which are presumably these, they're probably not intended to be a specific type of real-world flower. But I’m going to play in the sand here anyway!
Poppies have four or six petals, but they do have the dark core. Red ones specifically symbolize death and remembrance, which is… obviously fitting the themes of the series. But, the red flowers are used mostly to depict their childhoods, specifically their playful childhood love rather than their deaths. I think some of the other options are more fitting.
Geraniums are commonly red and have five petals, but no dark inside. They symbolize deceit and preference, with the red variety further meaning stupidity and consolation. Yowza!!!
Preference is clearly applicable—Mizi and Sua choose each other to give their flower crowns to, Till makes his flower crown for Mizi. It seems like a ritual among the kids that they give their flower crowns to someone they like.
Stupidity could be for Till not noticing Mizi’s clear mutual interest in someone else, or for Ivan, either not realizing that the flower crown he stepped on was Till’s or thinking it would get Till’s attention in any other way than Till jumping him LMAO.
As for deceit or consolation… I feel like these don’t quite fit? Deceit isn’t present in the scenes with the red flowers, though maybe in Sua and Ivan’s decisions to sacrifice themselves? Consolation is unfortunately not really present in the series at all. Much to all of our collective pain and suffering.
So, petunias are my favorite option for the red flowers. They’re five-petaled and have the dark center, even if they're not as similar as poppies... just hear me out!!!
They represent two conflicting ideas—anger and resentment, and “being with you is soothing.” I think this fits all three of the pairs they’re shown in relation to. Till’s anger with Ivan in their childhoods for ruining his flower crown is pretty clear, his anger with him in general, even with the world.
Then Mizi and Sua’s reciprocated love—of course, being with each other is soothing, and Till finds Mizi soothing as well, as we covered in their section.
I love the double meaning. I think the meanings flip as they age, as well. Mizi resents Sua for leaving her, and Till only realizes once Ivan’s gone that he did, in some way, appreciate his presence.
Anyway I just had to get this out of my system because I have so many Thoughts about this series. Also fun tidbit: Till is said to specialize in floral art. Much to think about...

a quiet hum, the room was empty, two dead, one injured and another refusing to leave her pod. it was rather peaceful, all things considered, last year it took a couple more rounds for the atmosphere to grow this heavy. a smile paints pale features as the man dressed in black steps backstage, luka adding one more to the death toll. ❛❛ congratulations ❜❜ he hums, alone in the dressing room, his lovely competition off somewhere else, he hadn’t paid her much mind.
a quick little luka ask !! feel free to ignore, as I’m still getting the hang of him and mizi :D
( @sleeplesswork )
he stared down on marty's lifeless body, the blood pooling beneath him, ruining the near-identical outfit to ivan's that he wore. the crowd cheered and applauded his victory— amidst them all he could even make out the silhouette of his guardian —but ivan didn't really feel anything. no pride, no happiness, no relief. he wondered if this was because he didn't know the other at all— he hadn't even attended the same school as the rest of them. would he have felt different if it was anyone else sharing the stage with him? he stood on the edge of the saturn's ring; he wondered how they knew he'd always liked the stars. he supposed if there was one thing that he didn't know, it was the thought that went into the layouts of each round's stage, specifically tailored for their participants.
well, not like it mattered. ivan offered his fans one final bow and a little wave, before being prompted to leave. coming back to backstage was somewhat disappointing; he knew till craved mizi's attention and affirmation, he'd heard the song among other things, but the selfish part of him had hoped that he'd be there, the same way ivan had been there both before and after round two— even if till happened to be knocked unconscious afterwards. he looked around, wondering if he was still out of it and in his pod. instead, he was met with a sight of blonde.
“ ... ” he knew he should behave. he knew exactly what sort of response and behavior this situation called for. he knew, and yet he struggled to actually put it forth effortlessly.
how strange. acting never took effort from him.
ivan knew a thing or two about the man. not much, but just enough to know that he was the biggest threat of them all. older than them, also from anakt, and the past season's winner. his song was next, and, well... the truth was, ivan was quite intrigued to hear it, to watch him perform— part of him wished he'd lose, though. yet, he severely doubted that'd be the case. be it now or even later once he'd go against mizi in round five— ivan liked the girl, he did, but... he also knew better, and he didn't have high hopes for her.
“ thank you. i hope we'll get to sing together later, ” he said, voice cold and monotone. it was a lie, though— if ivan intended for the competition to turn out his way, and he did, for as much as he could extend his influence anyway, then he knew he and luka would never share the stage. frankly, a shame.
“ good luck. ” but he knew the other wouldn't need it.

Mizi's character is such a tragic and ironic thing.
In a universe where most of humanity lives in misery, Mizi's joy (or, former joy) stands out. she's the light at the end of the tunnel for several characters in the story, and consistently makes an impact on everyone.
unlike every other alnst character, mizi's guardian was very loving towards her. she was showered with gifts and affection from her owners, causing her to view them in a nearly familial way. despite this, she and her guardian could never truly understand each other. humans have a much shorter lifespan than most segyein, so whether or not they live very long doesn't make that much of a difference for the aliens. shine wanted mizi to live her short life doing what she loved, and that was singing, so she entered her into alnst. mizi didn't quite understand the concept of death due to how the segyein tend to romanticize it towards humans, and willingly joined alnst with no idea of what she was getting into.
unfortunately, mizi's guardian doesn't have any other pets, and she lives in "a deep sea planet," so mizi wasn't exposed to that much human interaction. she was happy, of course, but very lonely.
it's possible that sua was the first fellow human that she'd seen up close. mizi locked eyes on her and was immediately entranced by her beauty. when she found her in anakt she spent all her time with her, loved her like no one else. to mizi (and probably to sua, too) it was familiarity at first sight. it's like they saw each other for the first time and went "oh, hi. it's you. it's going to be you."
another thing that also likely came with mizi's isolation is the need to be accepted by her peers. she's a genuinely happy person, yes, but she definitely puts in a lot of effort to be kind and like-able. her artbook profile reveals that she's "sometimes reluctant to show her honest self to others, and impresses them with sincere words first." she'd rather be kind so she knows that she isn't hated by the other students at Anakt Garden. I don't blame her tbh, if the only time I ever interacted with people was at a singing school, I wouldn't want to make any enemies there either.
so she's nice to everyone, builds up this reputation as a cheerful and bubbly girl, all while her love for sua only grows throughout the years. Sua could definitely understand her more than Shine could, and as the first human being that was dear to her, she begins to cling to her more and more, putting her on a higher pedestal with each passing moment they spend together.
mizi doesn't know how gruesome death really is or the extent of segyein cruelty, so she's considerably more innocent than many other students in anakt. Sua, who finds solace in her lack of awareness, never sees it fit to change that. that's not to say that there weren't any signs, though. of course, whispers would spread among the students, or some segyein may fail to cover up their mistreatment of their human, or something similar. it's impossible for mizi to live her entire life in naivety--unless she's subconsciously blocking out the bad parts of the world.
it's not that something like that's her fault, though. everyone needs to cope when they're in a bad situation, even those who have it "easier" than others. mizi did so by looking on the bright side, utterly disregarding the darker parts of her world. and oh, how it backfired.
sua's avoidance of the truth, shine's misunderstandings, and mizi's subconscious ignorance left her utterly unprepared for the reality of alien stage. what was meant to be the best day of her life so quickly turned into the worst. in a split second, not only had mizi's innocence shattered, but so had her only way of life. her god, her sua, gone, and she is plunged into total darkness for the first time.
it's only natural that she'd be in shock all the way up to round 5, and it makes more sense that she'd have her breakdown as well once she's provoked. iirc it was confirmed on the patreon that what luka did infuriated her, but in actuality she was less angry at him and more overwhelmed, raging at the system that they were in. the sudden realization that the whole world was never what she thought it was and that sua had known this without telling her a thing... naturally it would hit her hard.
she's rescued by the resistance, and then promptly given another shock. not only do humans exist outside of captivity, but they're just as angry about the oppression as she is and they actually have the power to do something about it. it's there that mizi learns to bare her teeth and finally strengthen herself, not exactly overcoming her shock and grief but utilizing it, letting it push her forward rather than block her path (symbolized by her hair getting cut). she finally has something to fight for.
except. she keeps losing. her one attempt to save somebody from the vicious fate of alnst backfired, and she's lost all of her cherished childhood friends. she's alone again, but this time there's nowhere to return to where she'll be greeted by familiar smiling faces, because she'll never see those smiles again.
as if that wasn't already enough, mizi was recaptured just as she had gotten used to being free, forced back into an all-consuming powerlessness where all of her struggles will be in vain.
opinion formulated: i love her to DEATH hang in there ml please 🙏🏽
Dear Alien Stage fan, your trial is to form a complete opinion of Mizi without mentioning the words "Till" "Ivan" or "sad lesbian". Should you fail to meet the requirements, an anvil will be dropped on your head. Good luck
#throwback to my 6k word mizi fanfic#GOD shes such a well written mc#shes so honest and genuine but her trauma is always so overlooked#PLEASE kill them all for us mizi become irredeemable PLEASE#alien stage#alnst#alien stage mizi#alnst mizi

SUA LORE (I'm going to die one of these days fuck)
When Sua was younger, among all the sisters she had grown up with, she had one older sister, but seemingly, unlike their other sisters, that woman didn't treat Sua with hostility, in fact, she looked like she doted on Sua and looked out for her.
Translation (Creds to: @/greenbean1467 on yt in the comments section):
1/2 ?: You should take care of your hair. (Woah, careful) ?: So immature… 2/2 ?: Alright, it can’t be helped. Sua has to be punished! Tickle tickle! [ At that time, you were my only person, and for that reason, you also made me afraid. ]
"You were my only person, and for that reason, you also made me afraid" Is just...All her life, Sua had been an isolated individual, by choice, and because she had been shunned by her family, avoided due to her cold nature, and during those times she's only had two people to who she could really show herself too, this woman and Mizi, this woman being the only person Sua had in her life I can only imagine how afraid Sua was of losing her sister, and just how much her sister terrified her at times.
1/2 SUA: Mhm, so mother said, it’ll be time to leave after ten more nights. And mother seems happy, and I too… SUA: And that pink-haired kid could be there too, so… ?: Didn’t I tell you it’s uncouth to wiggle your toes like that? 2/2 SUA: Oh… I won’t then. ?: Ugh, so cute! ?: But you know, big sis is worried. ?: Worried that our immature little Sua could just up and die in that hellish place.
This woman and Sua look to be close; they are affectionate, and Sua almost seems to look up to this woman as if a sister figure, but the detail here I'm interested in is how worried this woman is about Sua and her remarks about Sua, she cares about Sua. Still, it shows that she looks down on Sua to some degree, whether this be in a teasing tone or not, I'm unsure. But there's an obvious obsessive fixation on Sua's innocence. And even in this relationship, cruelty was reinforced as a means to an end.
1/2 ?: You’re already so stupid, what if you just up and die in that place? ?: You poor thing, Sua. [They say that corpses fall from the sky in that place. When a weak kid like Sua just up and dies, They burn those kids in a hot, hot fire, And then they open the sky lid to sprinkle them over the living kids Like snow raining down. ] 2/3 ?: Even if it's not, I'm not smart, but I've gone so far ?: Pick--If you die. What should I do? ?: It's so cute Sua.
Growing up under the same guardian, Nigeh, who valued quality and beauty in her pets, it becomes obvious why Sua's sister was criticizing her appearance. She'd grown up hearing the same criticisms from the harsh and cold Nigeh who didn't care for their pets beyond their value, and what all they could bring to the plate, I could imagine just what kinds of things Nigeh would say to a pet human with "abnormalities".
Sua, however, was the perfect pet human, she was pretty, obedient, and acted obediently for Nigeh as a manicured doll to meet their expectations. She was attached to Nigeh like a daughter to a mother, looking to their validation to feel as if she was more valuable than she truly was even though the love wasn't reciprocated. For these reasons, she was treated differently from her other sisters, of course, there would be a level of envy and projection from Sua's sister.
Sua's sister is shown to be anxious about Sua, she seems to have been attached to her in the way a hurt child needs a security blanket to rest at night, Sua is so childish, naive, and stupid, it is reassuring to her sister to have someone to care for, as if there was still hope in this world, so without Sua, her sister's worries wouldn't be soothed, her sister was so scared that she even threatened Sua with fear, expressing how frightening and horrific this environment would be (Like, "Pick, if you die" I read it as "If I lose you, what should I do?)
In this way, Sua seems to parallel mirror woman because Sua had this same dependency on Mizi, again, in the way a hurt, lonely, scared child needs a security blanket to rest at night, Sua wanted Mizi to remain naive and stupid, willingly kept her in the dark so that Sua could feel a sense of peace and security through her, her sister was the same way with Sua, she wanted to keep Sua from the hell she would be subjected to very, very soon, but in the end, telling Sua ugly truths, about the snow, and all, had to have been fueled by bitter feelings, to rid Sua of that type of innocence, could have been any kind of love, perhaps in a twisted way she wanted to protect Sua.
She obviously had to have been mentally unstable (understandably) to say these kinds of things to a child, no less, the way she stares at Sua like she's desperate and broken, really, it's not loving, it's just desperate and cruel. Really, the fact that Alien stage can bring a person to this kind of insanity is a horrifying concept. Still, I believe she was trying to teach a lesson to Sua at this time in her life when she was growing up, making attachments and being susceptible to impressions, it was purposely harsh to frighten her, to project her fears onto Sua, and those words from her sister stuck with Sua for the rest of her life.
From that day on, all Sua could think about was death, all she could do was worry and worry until she met Mizi again.
Meeting Mizi, in all her optimism and bright smiles, was like a healing balm on Sua's wounds, or in other words, her "Cure" .
1/2 SUA: Big sister, your words then made me, as young as I was, all the more afraid. I imagined “just up and dying” so many times, even more than before… 2/2 SUA: But if I meet you again, I want to tell you this. That you were wrong. The one to be pitied was probably you.
1/2 SUA: If this is hell… 2/2 MIZI: Found you! You're that snow doll!
Interestingly enough, Mizi calling Sua a "snow doll" may be a foreshadowing of Sua's death, as now it's semi-confirmed that dead children are cremated and sprinkled down onto the Anakt children's faces, but they only think it's snow. (THAT IS JUST FUCKING SICK. someone kill me)
And a parallel to the MIZISUA video, their first meeting. (The nickname is just--telling of how Sua is perceived, as a little dressed-up doll.)
(And that fact just gives this piece a wholeeee darker meaning. of course. It somewhat disproves the theory that the dead are instead fed to the Wagyein, but I don't know which is worse. Then again Sua's sister could've been going off on a psychotic rant, so I'm not taking it too seriously. It's a weird coincidence though)
1/2 SUA: Where else could you find such a paradise so wonderful? 2/2 SUA: So you're wrong.
(Some nuance may be lost in translation. I died)
So this comic, like Ivan's comic after ROUND 6, Cure, Heavenly Garden, was Sua's reminiscing during her final moments, and her only thoughts were the words of her sister, her face, haunting as it was, and Mizi, her universe.
Sua's sister pitied her for her inevitable fate, she had known the life of being a pet-human, used, abused, and hurt, she feared death and still had her instincts intact. Knowing Sua would go through the same cycle and then meet a terrible fate on that hellish stage...tasted bitter. It was frightening, but it was one small liberty for Sua to make it something of her own.
But for Sua, it was far from hell. Sua's sister references Anakt garden and Alien stage as a whole as hell because it's a one-way ticket to your demise, there is no true life once you're in, that's why it's so frightening, but being found by Mizi in that garden--Mizi was wonderful, Mizi made Sua feel like a child, to feel warm in her bright, gentle light, feeling the tranquility of feeling freed and loved in the comfort of Mizi's gentle song, Sua didn't want to be pitied, she didn't even regret making it this far, she didn't care about death as long as she wasn't without Mizi, Because to be able to be with her, and sing with her...everything was all worth it to meet Mizi. For Sua, there is no fate more miserable than living a life without Mizi and dying that way. Living a life of loneliness and anxiety was pitiful.
Side note, the title of this comic, Heavenly Garden, maybe a religious reference and, more specifically, a reference to the Garden of Eden. The themes here that connect to "Return to the Great Anakt", all children, in ashes and all will eventually return to the great Anakt, it gives me the idea that after Sua's death, her "Heaven", was returning to Anakt Garden and returning to her paradise, Mizi.
