"what do those lines in centuries have to do with each other" it's basically saying "i'll last/be remembered forever, you'll be gone in an instant." like "i am the opposite of amnesia" is just another way of saying the "you will remember me for centuries" idea from the chorus. whereas the cherry blossom line is basically exactly what it says - cherry blossoms are beautiful, but they wither and fall off within like a week

no i understand the idea, like. lmao. i have a phd in popular music studies. i know how to analyze a text. i'm saying it's stupid. it's bad writing. fob will pack a dozen images into a single verse and they don't cohere. "well maybe the one-time mention of cherry blossoms basically in passing is itself a referent to the temporal nature of cherry blossoms and the addressee" you're giving pete wentz too much credit. "centuries" is the radio single off american beauty/american psycho we don't have to defend these half-assed lyrics.
