What’s on your TBR for the month? I don’t have much planned out but this historical mystery is at the top! Thank you to @tlcbooktours and @kensingtonbooks for the copy! 📚 Synopsis: Stella Kendrick is an all-American heiress who can’t be tamed. But when the lively aspiring equine trainer tangles with British aristocracy, she meets her match—and a murderer . . . Spring, 1905: Free-spirited like the Thoroughbreds she rides across the Kentucky countryside, Stella takes adventure by the reins when she’s asked to attend a mysterious wedding in rural England. But once she arrives at the lush Morrington Hall estate, her cold and ambitious father confesses that he won’t only give away his best racehorses as gifts—he has also arranged to give away his daughter as bride to the Earl of Atherly’s financially strapped son . . . Stella refuses to be sold off like a prized pony. Yet despite a rough start, there’s something intriguing about her groom-to-be, the roguish Viscount “Lyndy” Lyndhurst. The unlikely pair could actually be on the right track with each other . . . until they find the vicar who was to marry them dead in the library. With culture clashes mounting between families, a scandalous murder case hangs over Morrington Hall. Now, Stella and Lyndy must go from future spouses to amateur sleuths as they team up to search for the truth—and prevent an unbridled criminal from destroying their new life together right out of the gate . . . 📚 #bookish #igbooks #reader #readers #bookgeek #booktography #readmore #booklovers #igreads #bookstagrammer #bookskark #claramckenna #murderatmorringtonhall #AmericanHeiress #EdwardianEra #historicalmystery #newbooks #tlcbooktours https://www.instagram.com/p/ByLhXsAAtIP/?igshid=1iodytzapumwm

I am still having computer issues so I would like to share my thoughts on my #tlcbooktourspartner book, Diamind in the Rough by Jen Turano. . To save her family from financial ruin, Miss Poppy Garrison accepts an unusual proposition to participate in the New York social season in exchange for her grandmother settling a family loan that has unexpectedly come due. Ill-equipped to handle the intricacies of mingling within the New York Four Hundred, Poppy becomes embroiled in one hilarious fiasco after another, doomed to suffer a grand societal failure instead of being deemed the diamond of the first water her grandmother longs for her to become. Reginald Blackburn, second son of a duke, has been forced to travel to America to help his cousin, Charles Wynn, Earl of Lonsdale, find an American heiress to wed in order to shore up his family estate that is in desperate need of funds. Reginald himself has no interest in finding an heiress to marry, but when Poppy’s grandmother asks him to give etiquette lessons to Poppy, he swiftly discovers he may be in for much more than he bargained for. . This was a quick, enjoyable read with a quirky heroine. The romance progressed in a predictable but fun manner which made the ending satisfying if a little truncated. . A lovely read to distract from the everyday with fun characters and a quick moving plot. . . Logan director James Mangold’s project has just been scrapped. The filmmaker had been gearing up to make a biopic based on the life of kidnapping victim Patty Hearst, but THR reports that 20th Century Fox has now scrapped the movie altogether, largely due to Hearst’s complaints about the project.
The film was based on author Jeffrey Toobin’s unauthorized book American Heiress, which recounted…

A History of Engagement Rings Vol. 6: The 1930’s 💎We’ve been patiently waiting to get to this edition of the History of Engagement Rings because….. ART DECO! Yes, the 30’s were smack dab in the middle of the Art Deco period and this is one of our favorite times for engagement rings. And we also get to talk about two of the world’s greatest jewelry collectors, as they married during the 30s. Let’s dig in. Wallace Simpson, a twice-divorced American, was known for a few things. 1) She was quoted as saying a woman can never be too rich or too thin. 2) She was a grand patron of the houses of Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels and Harry Winston and 3) she was the reason the Kind of England abdicated the thrown and stepped down, so he could marry her in 1937. Not only did he step down, but since he could not offer her the title of Queen, he instead showered her in jewels, starting with her out of this world 19.77ct emerald engagement ring by Cartier. But there was another American that was also had a jewelry collection to rival any royal - Barbara Hutton. While we couldn’t find any photos of her engagement rings (she was married SEVEN times), she married twice in the 30’s and we’re sure they were absolute stunners. She did, after all, have the Pasha diamond. A diamond that started it’s life as a 40ct octagonal stone. Barbara had it recut by Cartier to a round 38.19cts and set in a magnificent ring. Who needs an engagement ring when you have the Pasha? Others to marry during that period were Lawrence Olivier, Mary Pickford, Norman Rockwell and Bebe Daniels. While images of engagement rings associated with those weddings are hard to come by, we’re certain they were fashioned in the style of the day, similar to those shown here (some of which are available on our website). Do you have an Art Deco ring from the 1930s? Tell us all about it in the comments below or better yet, post a photo and tag us! * * #ahistoryofengagementarings #engagementring #artdecoengagementring #artdeco #royals #royalty #wallissimpson #duchessofwindsor #kingedwardvii #dukeofwindsor #barbarahutton #americanheiress #britishroyalty #normanrockwell #cartier #vancleefarpels #harrywinston

#repost @gemmlisaw @christiesjewels This gloriously restored Art Deco Cartier necklace was first purchased at @Cartier NY in 1937 for $ 65'000 by James Cromwell for his bride Doris Duke. It was offered for sale @Christie's NY in June 2004 in the Doris Duke Collection without the principle diamonds. The buyer lovingly replaced all of the missing stones with age appropriate diamonds bringing it back to life and its former glory.
