Rebecca Hall initially wore this orange dress as Caroline Cushing in the 2008 film 𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒕/𝑵𝒊𝒙𝒐𝒏. It was then re-worn by Elle Fanning as Niki Trumbo in the final scene of the 2015 film 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒐. Costume designer Daniel Orlandi worked on both films, making it almost certain that these are the same piece.   Neither Rebecca Hall nor Elle Fanning are strangers to recycled costumes, though they’ve generally been spotted in reuses from period dramas in the past. The original Twilight director, Catherine Hardwicke mentioned who she thinks would be a good cast to play the characters if Twilight got a reboot. 😆

So I thought it would be fun to make my own but I just did the main cast to make it easier. 😅

When I was a teenage girl, Twilight was sooo popular. I read the entire book series and I also watched the original Twilight movies, which now get teased as a "silly teenage vampire romance" but it was very successful at the time. 😝

I remember Catherine mentioned how when she first met the fans, she saw Twilight was not just popular with white teenage girls and the fans were actually diverse because the book series had captured the hearts of girls from all different races. 🤭

Being a young black woman myself now, I respect that Catherine originally wanted Twilight to have a more diverse cast - for example, she specifically wanted Alice to be played by a Japanese actress - and I agree with her that an asian Alice was a wonderful idea! 💯

But unfortunately, the Twilight author Stephenie Meyer was against it and she pushed for the Twilight cast to be a majority of white people - which I think was very toxic and problematic.

I also know what was considered "acceptable" back in the early 2000s would not be accepted today. 😅

I am against the old-fashioned prejudice idea that vampires can only be attracted to white humans. 😒

Or that only white people can be vampires. 😑

That logic is racist and offensive.

But also, just ridiculous to have a cast full of 95% white people is NOT modern at all. 🙄

Especially because the Twilight vampires are all about beauty and instead of just having white beauty standards it is important to show there is beauty in all races. 😍

So I would like if Twilight did get a reboot that it is cast with beautiful actresses and actors of different races. ❤️

La introducción de la película no se anda con vueltas: Ray (Elle Fanning), antes Ramona, está a punto de iniciar la vía hormonal y quirúrgica que le convertirá en el chico que siempre ha soñado ser. Le acompaña su madre, Maggie (Naomi Watts), su abuela Dolly (Susan Sarandon) y la novia de ésta, Frances (Linda Emond). Con mucha inteligencia, la directora y guionista Gaby Dellal (junto con Nikole Beckwith) establece las dudas que conlleva, aún para una familia de mente y corazón abiertos para con Ray, enfrentar una situación semejante.

La operación que requiere adecuar el cuerpo del muchacho sólo podrá llevarse a cabo si ambos padres la consienten. Maggie tiene sus dudas, pero emprende la difícil tarea de buscar a Craig (Tate Donovan), el padre de su hijo, a quién no ve desde su nacimiento. Todo se le complicará aún más cuando surja una circunstancia esencial del pasado que una vez los unió y que ahora pondrá en peligro el proceso que ilusiona a Ray.

El filme, llamado en un principio "About Ray" (el sitio impawards.com da cuenta de que hay afiches con ese título provisorio), se estrenó en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Toronto en 2015, pero fue luego reeditado con cinco minutos más para su paso por los cines internacionales. El impacto de su historia, que se repite en muchos chicos reales, permanece inmodificable.
