Genuinely my hair ain't never been this poppin' because I was dealing with my psoriasis. As far as my skin, I've been studying the words of James Welsh and Susan Yara about skincare products and ever since I stopped physical exfoliation and added serums and overnight serums, my face eczema has calmed down significantly. Very proud of myself. I got myself a reading from @iamaprilnicolec and she hit the nail on the head with what I needed and I'm following her prescription for my life and I feel better. A customer said he recognized me from helping his mom with a logo and I don't remember but the coincidences that I helped another Black person??? Yea that's too similar to me that it was someone else so they commisioned me for another logo. Then every time I needed help this week the person I needed came right when I needed them. Why did we go out? @noodletreetx I heard about them on the news and their owners stance on wearing masks regardless of the lift on the mandate and I wanted to go. Jessica wanted to go bc our usual place was just too-too poppin to be safe and we LOVE ramen. The ramen was ono. And I say it's "ono" because they don't use chashu slices, the owner/chef Mike makes it into like a kalua pork situation. I swear eating it tastes like everything I miss about Hawai'i. And guess what? Mike has got family on the 'sina. They had POG on the menu too LOL we should've known. The eggs were perfectly seasoned (not too salty, the right amount flavor, perfectly cooked *chefs kiss* THE BROTH! They make it homemade and they spend the times they're closed cooking it. The white foam around the edge show you that it's been cooking and cooking well. Also just wanted to spotlight the drawing. One day Crow talked about how a kid said they looked like a mountain. It was badass and we talked about them being like a Native superhero, The Mountain Crow. This is gonna sound wild but I immediately knew I was going to draw. OMG! The reviews are coming in from customers and I guess I genuinely wasn't expecting people to still be excited about getting their pieces but they are! I'm getting a lot of "this is sick!" and "this is awesome!" and even more "let me know when you start selling these again!" I know this may not look exactly like #DMX but I wanted to finally post something about him and make an art piece. I'm a mere children's illustrator and realism isn't my thing so I hope you guys can get the gist of what I'm sending into the universe. TW: mental health stuff When DMX passed it just really bummed me out. I was always really rooting for him to shake that monkey off his back and it just sucked that he couldn't. I felt the same way with Mac Miller, Robin Williams, Jonghyun, and Chester Bennington. Maybe I monitored my progress with myself by those guys being ok, but it always just made me sad or maybe it made me think that no matter how ok I feel that the monkey isn't going to be off my back. Who knows? What I DO know is that it's not all about death, it's also about life. I've seen so many videos of DMX since he passed and the life he did live he made the most of it. NO ONE has a bad word to say about him and he brought so many people joy with his presence and so many people felt his soul through his music. It's really just beautiful. We all saw the meme about him taking care of orchids for therapy and teaching us all how to take care of our relationships and plants and that really inspired me. I genuinely hope he's resting peacefully somewhere in a field of orchids getting that good quality rest he deserved. Also I really felt it was important that he was smiling or laughing because every video I see or story I hear has him smiling or laughing but his smiling pictures are few and far between. As you all know, my grandma passed away last year and yesterday was the anniversary. This year instead of remembering her death, I wanted to reflect on one of my favorite memories. Ever since she's passed I've been OBSESSED with rootbeer and honestly that's all her. She bought these big boxes of MUG or Barq's rootbeer and TAB soda and had me try them. I really loved rootbeer and apparently still do bc everyone at my store knows about my rootbeer habit LOL That's honestly one of my favorite memories with her. Not to be outdone is having her call me "lit-tle girl" when I was acting up or being sassy and how she would laugh at all the stories of me acting foolish as a young adult. I'm happy that not long before the anniversary me and mom were able to get the COVID vaccine and that we were able to avoid it long enough to get it. On the last day of the first month of Black History Year, I ran the store by myself and beat my sales by $400 (not including online orders) and my section was swamped but we also beat our sales. My GM told me congrats and a few times today I had Black people coming up and asking if I was running things and when I said I was they were like "look at you!" "all right now!" "it's good to see one of us out here!" And honestly I'm feeling so fckin proud of myself. When I envisioned this happening it was under different circumstances, but it's the best we can do considering. I'm FINALLY getting orders out of my house. After we lost product and dye and then lost funding and then had shipping issues, I'm getting everything out. We still have one more hitch with shipping but I'm getting these out and while I thought I'd be basking in the moment, I'm kinda happy this ordeal is going to be over soon. I'm happy with the products and what we're sending out, but this has taken everything out of me and I'm going back to commissions and monodyes for the time being. Thank you for all the support.
