Oooh I love this idea! There are vintage and reproduction versions of some of these items that were made for dolls in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Look up "doll vanity set," "doll toiletry bag," or "doll toilette" on Ruby Lane and you'll find tons of adorable miniatures. Cats Paw was a popular place to get button hooks, but I think the business is no longer active.
If you're looking to DIY, I think molding sheet metal would makes some very cool accessories. (I don't know what the proper name for it is. It's much heavier than aluminum foil but still pliable. It comes in a roll. Sometimes it's available at craft stores.)
You could also use polymer clay and add the shine with metallic powders.
I've thought about painting a Barbie hairbrush, since those are actually closer to the right scale for American Girl dolls. I've seen Barbie combs that are the right size too. For the jars I would look at dappen dishes. Some of them come with silvery lids. There are tons of styles on Ebay.

Samantha's Vanity Set
I have this idea to make Samantha a vanity set. I even wrote a description in old-PC magazine style.
Vanity sets were matching kits to help girls and women prepare for their days. Arrange Samantha's seven piece silver set neatly on its tray. This set includes tools recognizable today like a hand mirror, hairbrush, and comb. Use the hair receiver to collect Samantha's loose hairs. Finally, Samantha has a shoehorn, button hook, and glove stretcher to help her put on accessories.

I'm not quite sure how to proceed, except I have the idea of getting a child's silverware set and somehow building the handled things off the handles of the silverware so they match?
Ideas welcome.

Lots of love and tears went into making the first doll outfit I've sewed in years.
Pro tips: using difficult fabrics, a new machine, and creating your own pattern is not recommended when you don't know what you're doing, unless you have ADHD and are unmedicated 🤪

While I was languishing on the bed of illness last week, I spent a lot of time reading up on American Girl Doll lore. Dear followers, you may see a lot of American Girl content in the following weeks. I say this not to apologize, but to entice.

AG Doll Crafts has some pieces and @americangirldollies has posted some other pieces.
Hi! I’m not sure really where else to ask this but maybe you could point me in the right direction. I was going through my doll stuff recently and found quite a few things from those AG doll kits (Doll Travel, Doll Dining, Doll Star, etc.). I’ve found some scans of the books online through the Internet Archive library, but I’m more interested in finding scans of the little cutouts that came with the book. I think it would be helpful to those of us who have lost some of these paper cutouts to time..
Sorry for the delayed response anon!!
I do recall the AG doll kits you're referring to; I remember seeing a fair share of them in Michaels back in the day. Unfortunately those never caught my eye as much, and I never bought any of it. Sad to say I'm not aware of anyone who may have uploaded the cutouts either.
If anyone following me knows of anywhere that the Doll Kit cutouts were uploaded and shared at, please reblog or reply to this post with details for this anon!

Made a new dress for Kirsten and really happy with how it turned out!
I learned how to make buttonholes on my sewing machine for this dress, and honestly it was so much easier than I thought it would be! I’ll need to start including buttons more often now.
Tumblr media
Also the ribbon along the cuffs and hem are hand sewn.
Tumblr media
Eventually I’d like to get her birthday dress and style this dress with the white apron, but I’m waiting to see if AG’s next product release includes anything I want so I can order all at once, so the apron will wait.

Ugh, Pixie Faire. It’s the second night of Hanukkah, and Pixie Faire has produced a Jewish pattern under their house brand of Liberty Jane.
Tumblr media
While kippot (yarmulkes) are not with a specially religious garments (as a tallit would be), they are worn by non-Jews a sign of respect and are often worn by observant Jews during prayer and at the synagogue.
As Pixie Faire/Liberty Jane is owned by a Christian, they never should have developed and sold this pattern. Also, they plagiarized their kippah description directly from the Wikipedia article.
If you’d like to sew your Jewish dolls and their friends a kippah (so they can wear one at your doll’s b’ mitzvah!) I HIGHLY recommend purchasing a handmade item or pattern from a Jewish person.
Tumblr media
SewJewish has a pattern available on Etsy, as well as other doll patterns and products! Check her blog too for tutorials, sewing tips, and more. I love her doll tallit tutorial, and I used her instructions when I made my doll’s!
You can find SewJewish’s kippah pattern here.

@thatweirdowithdolls made a post saying that ag should make a coconut toy at ag scale. My first thought was “OMG absolutely!”, and my second was “I wonder if I can make one using needle felting?”. Well…

TINY COCONUT!!!
this was such a fun craft, I absolutely recommend it. it took about two hours, but it was very fun and relaxing, and I absolutely LOVE how mini coconut came out.
here she is in comparison with mini maryellen (who is missing a shoe lol):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i used mini Maryellen for scale - I put normal coconut up against nicki’s leg to measure relative size, and did the same for mini maryellen and mini coconut as I made her, to make sure they were in scale.
here she is next to regular coconut:

(I like to call that pic “please feel free to talk to me or my daughter any time 😊”)
